Dt*:the contact stated while traveling 75 mph the vehicle swerved to the right and then over corrected.the vehicle went into a ditch, then flipped several times however, the airbags did not deploy.seat belts were in use and injuries were sustained.the vehicle was towed first to a wrecker service then it was taken to an insurance company.no inspection as to why the air bags did not deploy.the manufacturer has not been alerted. Updated 04/06/06.

My seatbelt light comes on. I take it to the dealer for correction along with other maintenance issues i had about my vehicle. All this is under warranty. After regular maintenance is taken care of the seatbelt light stays on. The light never gets fixed or goes out. The vehicle was never in an accident that makes the bags deploy. I bring the truck back many times but the issue never gets taken care of. Now that the warranty is off they want to charge me $1000 for repairs that should have been taken care of under the warranty and the truck will not pass inspection until this gets taken care of..

It was sleeting and i lost control on a curve.i had been driving about 50 mph, but brake before the curve and brake very hard when i tried to regain control of the vehicle, as it was sliding sideways toward the curve.i went off the curve and hit an elevated crossroad, which sent the vehicle airborne.i was airborne over most of the side road, with the rear of the vehicle hitting just the last few inches of pavement, which then sent the vehicle nosediving into the ditch.the embankments were 4-5 feet tall.i had two very hard front end impacts and hit my head on the steering wheel twice.the frame of the vehicle was bent and there was a lot of damage to the under of the vehicle, but the airbags did not deploy.the vehicle has been deemed a total loss by my insurance company.i have a lot of concern with the fact that the airbags did not deploy and know that there were other vehicles of my year and type that did have faulty airbags recalled, but mine has not been.

We were involved in an automobile accident while driving a 2003 trailblazer xt.a driver turned in front of us at an intersection on a busy highway while we had a green light.i slammed on the brakes slowing down to what we believe to be around 35 miles per hour, and we hit head on into the side of his range rover.neither front airbag deployed.i sustained a broken right foot and multiple bruises to my knees.i also hit the steering wheel with my chest and had many bruises to my chest.i am doing physical therapy for the injury my shoulder sustained from hitting the steering wheel.the car has around $10,000 worth of damage to the front end.i remember officials on the scene were surprised our air bags did not deploy and encouraged us to look into that.i am scared to have the car back.if a head-on collision like that will not deploy my airbags, what will?can i trust them if i'm in an even more severe accident.i know they are not supposed to go off at the least little accident, but i would not term this a small accident.

My 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext gauge clusters malfunction.one by one the instrument panel gauges have been failing.first the rpm gauge stuck at zero in march '08.about two months ago (oct '08), the oil pressure gauge droppedto zero and now fluctuates erratically .often times, restarting the car will temporarily reset the oil pressure gauge until it fails again.this month (dec. '08), the temperature gauge pegged high and the speedometer will temporarily hesitate. The only gauge that appears to work properly is the fuel gauge, and i'm guessing that will eventually fail too.during my last oil change at a chevy dealer, they indicated that most likely the instrument cluster/gauge drivers are bad and can be replaced for about $800.i've done a lot of searching on the internet and found that many people are experiencing this same problem with chevy vehicles, yet chevrolet has done nothing to correct or remedy the situation.

Chronic problem/failure of instrument gages/cluster relating to speedometer, temperature and oil pressure for a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext.for example, the speedometer will unexpectedly raise to an alarming speed reading while the vehicle is not actually traveling more than a few miles per hour. Dealer advises that this condition is not covered by any recall notice and gm is unwilling to provide any assistance to alleviate this serious and unsafe condition.other gm vehicles have been recalled for this exact condition.also, this vehicle has experienced a cracked exhaut manifold due to poor design/engineering.

I own a 2003 chevy trailblazer ls. Bought it new off the dealer's lot. In 2007, approximately 100,000 miles later the tachometer began to function intermittently. At 120,000 miles, it quit all together. Shortly thereafter, the speedometer began to malfunction intermittently. Now in 2009 and 150,000 miles it does not work 90+% of the time. When it does, the speed indication is unreliable. I have taken the vehicle into the local chevy dealer for diagnostic and repair estimate; $800 to $1000 all day situation. Have taken it to other repair shops, but they refer back to the dealer in order to obtain parts. So far, have been able to operate vehicle, but awaiting the next gauge to fail.

My instrument cluster on my 2003 trailblazer ( speedometer , temp, voltage ,gas gauge oil press.) stopped working .i bought it new and it get serviced at the dealership regularly , first the speedometer stopped working then the others stopped working.

Driving at 40mph and the truck went up in flames truck showed no warning even drove it app. 300yards to pull over still ran with flames as high as 6 ft no dummy lights camefire was under the truck while driving was warned by another driving heading towards me truck had 85130 miles on it never had no major problems everthis is a brief summary.

Like many other, my problem is with the instrument panel/cluster.my fuel gauge doesn't work and my speedometer is all over the place...sometimes it seems to work fine, other times not at all, and sometimes it works but isn't accurate.

My 2003 trailblazer ext. Would not start today, all dash lights come on but gas and voltage gauge don't register. Keys and key fobs are not recognized also only says unknown driver .it will not crank at all or even make noise, battery, alternator, starter and all fuses have been checked and are good. There is no security light that stays on and my key will remove from the ignition!front door windows and door locks will not work or radio.....all lights, a/c, back windows, sunroof, power seats work!.......have not been able to find problem.

2003 chevrolet trailblazer - instrument cluster malfunction.speedometer readings are erratic, fuel gauge is stuck above full level, water temperature gauge also has erratic readings.gm recalled the suburban and tahoe for this issue but not the trailblazer.

All electronic gauges within the instrument cluster failed at random times and very frequently, leading to the clusters' current state, which is all gauges are non-operational (dead).hazardous condition caused due to speedometer failure. Chevy replaced the instrument cluster two times while under 36/36 mfg warranty.chevy refuses to replace current instrument cluster since 36/36 has passed.

We own a chevy trailblazer, 2003 ext! i swear the suv is possessed!speedometer sporadically acts up, stating higher mph, sometimes it goes over 100mph, when were only going 30mph! it wont go back to 0 unless you turn the vehicle on/off repeatedly! oil, battery and temp gauges all high, yet dealer cant find problem! problem doesn't always occur yet i rely on my navigation system to determine speed as i no longer trust the 2003 chevy trailblazer.

My key will not come out of the ignition i had to unscrew and remove the bottom of my steering to push the button also all of my instrument gauge do not work including the speedometer and all gauges so i never know my temperature or fuel level, oil pressure they all are not working properly my speedometer only works sometimes. Also my engine is runny rough and i hear a vibration and ticking. My check engine light is and i'm getting code saying theres a leak in the fuel evap system. I have searched the internet and everyone has the same problems with their 2003 trailblazers. Why isn't chevrolet recalling these problems its fustrating they want several hundreds of dollars i cannot afford

2003 trailblazer ext 4x4 loaded purchased new 5-2004 sticker $ 42,000 i have owned 14 vehicles and have never had one with the problems this truck has.gm has designed engineered and sold an unreliable unsafe automobile. 1. Electrical issues: rear brake lamp boards replaced 3 times, radio replaced, headlamp sockets melted, brake lamp bulb base melted. 2. Car loss all powerwhile driving wife had to sit in middle of road until tow truck came. Truck only 2yrs old at that time cause of problem ignition switch. 3. Electronic fan clutch replaced twice 10-10 and 6-11 had to battle dealership to cover based on problem and get attorney involved cost to replace with diag. $700.00. 4. Sway bar link pin kit replaced twice. 5. 4x4 transfer case will not go into 4-wheel drive 2-wheel drive only when you select 4-wheel drive truck will not move and makes internal noise.trailblazer has a total of 115,000 miles. Just to make a comparison i purchasedin 2001 a new toyota tacoma truck it has 176,000 miles on the odometer.other than standard maintenance no issues at all.

Complete power failure while driving vehicle in traffic on interstate.cruising up the interstate at 65-70 mph and vehicle dash went black, steering locked, coasted to roadside and tried to restart vehicle.it took 5 attempts before vehicle would restart.this happened twice more the same day.dealership had vehicle for 5 days and stated they were "unable to duplicate customers concern", but reprogrammed the pcm anyway.

My check engine light came on but the vehicle ran o.k. Took it to mechanic and was told that the oil pressure gauge was not working and he believed there was a recall on this.it wasn't a recall so we were told we would have to pay for the repairs ourselves and since we regularly change/check our oil i wasn't too worried.now we have noticed the temperature gauge has shot all the way around and has stayed but when it is really cold outside it drops back to normal.the speedometer and the rpm gauge also sticks.spent many days for a few years trying to solve problem with the radio and dvd player not working properly and switching stations on its own and after several replacements finally gave up because it was never corrected.this is a real concern as i do travel by myself and rely on the instrument panel and this seems to be a real problem with the trailblazer and should be recalled by chevorlet.

Bad electrical problem. My side mirrors aren't working at all. My rear brake lights are always inoperative. I always get a constant vibration coming from the engine. My gearbox sometimes freezes or gets stuck. Poor fuel efficiency.

Headlamps keep going out and the connectors keep melting and burningthe rear radio speakers go outthe rear heat/air goes outthe level 5 setting on the fan does not workthese are not unusual complaints for this vehicle, there seems to be a standard being set with these issues.

None of my gages work and a lot of my dash lights are on. I have no idea how much gas i have. My speedometer and rpm gages work but nothing else does. This has been happening on and off for about 3 months but they would always go back on. But now it has been off for a week without going back to normal. Twice last week the radio and the power windows stopped working as well.this happens while driving parked all the time and it doesnt go back to normal. I have seen a lot of complaints about this so i have no clue why there isn't a recall. It is not safe to drive my trailblazer until these things are fixed. I work at a chevrolet dealership and they couldn't figure out how to fix this either. Gm needs to put out a recall to get this fixed asap.

I noticed when the weather got colder/snow in december, my speedometer was reading around 60 mpg high speed when i was going about 20 mph.after turning my truck on and off a couple of times, it would reset to 0 mph.another heavy snow day came and it happened again, and after i was exiting my car yesterday, the needle pointed south and when i started the truck it went backward to 120 mph.i called gm to find out if there were any recalls on this problem or any others and they said there were no recall for my vehicle at this time, which i know is untrue due to the gas leak recall.i called the gm service center and was told the same thing and this item is not covered.i searched the web and found a class action suit against gm for the same reason as mine http://www.lawcash.com/attorney/4913/general-motors-lawsuit.asp

My rpm gauge and fuel gauges both stopped working.

Low beams intermently go off and on ! exhaust manifold is cracked causing a leak ! all dash gauges but fuel gauge dont work !

5 months after i purchased my 2003 chevy trailblazer i went out to start the car and it would not start.i took the car to the dealer the first time for this problem and various others and was told they could not replicate the problem.i replaced the battery and the car worked for approximately another 5 months and the same occurred.on both occasions the key was locked in the ignition and attempts at jump starting the vehicle failed multiple times.since the second time happened this morning i have yet to take it to the dealer.this car also has various other electrical problems sometimes the radio goes blank and gets stuck on one station as well as getting extremely hot (was told they could not replicate all of the problems but reprogrammed the radio so it would not get as hot).the dvd player just stops working (was told they could not replicate the problem).the blower motor for the rear air works sometimes and other times it doesn't (this was apparently fixed once already).the reverse lights stay on when the car is in drive (just happened last weekend).shall i go on?

The electronic throttle module to pcm communicationerror comes up and the vehicle starts the warm up process and then dies in the process of warm up procedures. I guess my question to you is how can i fix this or does a deal need to fix it or is there a recall on this issue?

I am a senior citizen i brought this car new. After one year i had to replace linc plate.over the years everything has gone wrong with this car.speedometer has not worked since aug. '08,gas gauge stopped oct. '11. Instrument cluster since 2010 and gm knows this is a defected part.yet gm paid for this same defected part at their cost for the tahoe, but has not paid for the trailblazer.why?windows and doors do not unlock on command.window wiper(rear) stopped working-i replaced that part. A/c comes on my itself.thermostat failure.i think gm should stand behind their product. The only reason they would not is that they already know that they are producing substandard products that are not fit to be driven on the road.

The drivers seat heater got very hot and then stopped working shortly after. I did an internet search and found that this is very common. I found that one of the wires had overheated and actually burned the foam and covering. There are many complaints and pictures on the internet. I removed my seat and found the exact same problem. I am astounded that nothing is being done to stop the use of these defective heaters. This is most certainly a very serious fire and burn hazard.

Front end loose, ball joints needed replacement.driver side seatbelt defective/twisted. Rotors warped needed repalcement.outside door handle does not open door.dirver side mirror moves around (programed) without notice. Transmission engages rough, feels like it slipping. Tailgate out of allignment, rear seatbelt defective needed replacement, 4wd locked up in parking lot, front end has scraping noises when turning, heated seats not working, irratic, tailgate panel falls off, driver seat frame broken needed replacement, electrical system irratic.

One by one things have been going out and not working. First the car would not start all the time with the key, then the a/c stoped working, next was the fuel pump, then the injectors. I checked everything it could be. I was driving with my kids down the highway when my car just died lost power steering so it was hard to get off the road fast. I got it started and was driving and it did it again. I was able to finally get it home when it would not start again. After some research online found out this car has issues with the fuse box itself under the hood. I opened it up just to find the wording that connected the pins was broken in numerous places and had started to burn up in the box.

My vehicle started randomly shutting off while driving. Loss of power to everything but the brakes. Luckily i was only going 10-15mph each time this happened. With the recent recall in gm vehicles regarding the ignition switch i thought it would be a good idea to switch this part out first. Fixed the problem immediately. I would like to be reimbursed my cost for part and labor. I can't believe as many known problems the trailblazer has with this that it has yet to be added to the recall list.

I started my vehicle and the instrument cluster did not work. No precheck lights except check engine light came on and none of the instruments on the panel would work. Tried shutting down the engine and restarting but to no avail.

The gauges started failing one at a time.first the oil and battery needles moved to the far right and buried off the chart.now the speed is reading 90mphat a stop light and 10mph on the interstate.the cluster is gone and the whole driver dashboard is failing.the gas and oil gagues i fear are next.according to dealer they know there is a problem, but they have no problem charging up to $600 to fix the situation.this is mechanical and not caused by the owner. There are blogs all over the place on the same problem.

When i pulled into driveway, i put the vehicle in park, and turned the key off, and actually pulled the key out of the ignition switch, with the vehicle still running. I backed the car up, without the key in the ignition, where i started smelling wires burning. I called fire department, and they put fire out on the fuse box, with everything melted around it. I have had minor problems with the car, i.e. Wheel bearing and brakes, but, nothing like this. While my 14 year old daughter and i were in the car at the time, we did get out, and no one was hurt.

First oil pressure gauge went and now my speedometer is also gone stuck at 50 mph. Called chevy can't get straight answer from them and ask what other vehicles with the same problem with gauge cluster advised can't disclosed any information.

Have had my 2003 trailblazer lt2wd v8in the shop under warranty many times. First was a recall on the drive shaft which was replaced 3 times. Still have a noise the dealed says they don't hear!next came the taillight recall. Now i have a recurring problem with a dead battery. This doesn't happen all the time and nothing has been left on to cause it. I can go into a store and come out to find it dead. When you charge the battery, then either the heated seats work improperly, the blower won't come on, something different every time.

Intermittently the speedometer reads from a few mph high to 70 mph high.this problem is well documented across the gm product line and is covered in one way or another by gm.but not the trailblazer.why not?

The check engine light went on and there was a strong gas odor. Gas had also previously spilled out when fuelung.

For the past several months, the speedometer has been acting up.it is now buried past the top registered speed.it will vary from time to time, but is, for the most part, non-working.it will show that i am at a high rate of speed even when the vehicle is sitting idle or in park.this is an ongoing problem and from what i can see, i am not alone with this issue. This is a big safety concern and i feel that gm needs to address the issue.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact stated that the engine failed to start, the instrument panel produced a hissing noise, and the instrument gauges fluctuated erratically.the vehicle would start after several attempts were made.the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure.the failure has occurred three times at 39,650, 40,210 and 40,227 miles.the current mileage is 40,227 and failure mileage was 39,650.

I, along with many others are experiencing major problems with the instrument panels on our chevrolet trailblazer. My mother traded hers in because her speedometer was going out. But my problem is much worse, my whole entire dashboard is out. My gas gauge doesn't work, my speedometer doesn't work, my oil pressure doesn't work, my thermostat doesn't work, nothing works. My cruise control acts up too.

Speedometer is erratic often showing false speed or goes to zero.all moving speeds highway or streets.

While driving, the speedometer got stuck at 40mph. It never came back down, but eventually went all the way to the right side. After $900 for a new instrument cluster it was fixed, but the following year a friend of mine with an 05 trailblazer had the same thing happen to her. She won't get it fixed because it seems just a tad bit suspicious that so many speedometers have gone out in these things.

Beginning 2 weeks ago the speedometer on my 2003 chevy trailblazer has not been working properly.the needle will go past 120 mph and when your stopped it will be at 30-40 mph.this is extremely dangerous since my son has his learners permit and was driving the first time the speedometer malfunctioned.we were on the highway.i looked on-line and found several people with the same problem.one suggested disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes.i did this and it worked for 1 week.i disconnected it 2 more times so far.today i called gm at 800-630-2438 to report the problem & see if there was a recall.i was told there was no recall but that i should take it to the dealer for diagnostic testing.i asked if i would be charged and she said yes.i told her that i can't afford to pay them just for diagnostics and that they already know what the problem is since it is all over the internet about so many of their vehicles doing this.

I purchased the vehicle with approximately 63,000 miles already on it.within a month i noticed the speedometer was doing funny things like reading 100mph when i was only driving about 25mph.i contacted a dealer and was told it would cost $500 to repair.we do not have that kind of money so i left it.the problem continued until the speedometer stopped working altogether.i had learned how to gauge my speed by using the takometer but that started to go shortly after the speedometer.now my battery gauge is starting toshow signs of fritzing.i have read online that this is a very common problem with these vehicles and that gm has not issued a recall.i now have a gps which can tell me my speed but the battery gauge is a definate safety issue.thank you!

2003 chevy trailblazer cluster panel quit working. No odometer, rpm, and occasionally the fuel gauge.

While driving about 70 mph my speed hand jumped to 110 rpm, when i got home and turned off the vehicle the hand was reading 60 mph. This has happened three times. I called the dealer and they said they have had this problem several times in trailblazers.

When driving for 30 to 45 mins all the instruments on dash start sticking and reading wrong information. In the picture my car is parked .

As i am going down the road the tachometer starts to jump around and then i lose the directionals and my lights.if i turn off the ignition it will not start again.this has happened four times in the past year.the dealership tells me that fuse #22 is blowing.as of today, my truck is still at the dealership and they do not know what is causing it.they have replaced the fuse each time.they also replaced the instument cluster and the ignition lock. I am seeking legal advise.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. While driving approximately 65 mph, the contact observed that the speedometer would fluctuate continuously providing inaccurate speeds traveled. In addition, the tac and oil pressure gauges completely failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection. The technician was unable to locate the problem and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 88,976.

Speedometer sticks at varying locations does not display accurate speed.

The gas gauge started messing up/not reading right especially in the rain and then shortly after that the speedometer started doing the same thing. Now neither one will work at all. This started about two years ago and quit working all together about 1 year ago. I heard that this is happening to alot of trailblazers. This started while the vehicle was in motion.

Double failure of 4-wheel drive indicators. 4-wheel drive failed but the "service light" did not appear on the dash and the led light on the 2wd/awd/4-hi/4-lo switch did not display correctly. Because we were unaware that both indicators were not working and the 4-wheel drive was not working we attempted to go over a mountain pass during snow conditions under the assumption that the 4-wheel drive was working correctly. I was bringing my mother home from the hospital after a heart procedure. Luckily i was driving carefully, because the vehicle did begin to lose control, but i was able to make the necessary corrections. We were forced to turn around and take another route, which doubled the length of our drive. This normally would not be a problem except for my mother's condition.

2003 chevy trailblazer blew a few fuses so i could not start the vehicle (several times already), per dealer. Tachometer jumps around, radio gets hot, electrical lights turn off along with heater/cooler, rear lights replaced three times, hole in gas tank, drive line replaced, constant chirping/ticking noise (of course dealer does not hear).purchased brand new and have way too many problems for a new vehicle.you asked for incident date....there are several.will stick to toyota's from now on....

After driving the vehicle like normal, stopped at a gas station and when it was restarted, the fuel gauge, oil pressure gauge, battery gauge, tachometer, pretty much the entire instrument panel stopped working then came back on.also, instead of reading driverlike it normally does, the panel was reading unknown driver.then as we were driving down the interstate home, the speedometer went to 0 and would not come back up.after we got home, the next day the panel worked fine.this has occurred numerous time since the first incident in 2011.i have read multiple forums and posts online from others stating it is the instrument panel cluster that may be the problem and there was a recall on other chevy makes but not the trailblazer.this is a very scary problem and should be covered by chevy due to the numerous other trailblazer owners with the same issue.

I own a chevy trailblazer 2003, and all the gauges are have quit working, it is unsafe to drive without a speedometer and gas gauge along with allthe other gauges. I have replaced fuses and relays nothing has yet to fix the problem.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.while driving approximately 70 mph, the speedometer displayed a lower speed.the contact decelerated and the speedometer displayed a higher speed.general motors stated that they would not cover the repairs.the current mileage was 70,350 and failure mileage was 69,350.updated 02-14-08.

I have a problem similar to many others.i have recently purchased a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer.i have encountered a problem with the speedometer on this vehicle.the speedometer occassionally stops working entirely from time to time and other times, has a mind of it's own and decides to make a random number the zero mark and increase speed from that point.i know that this is a safety issue as there are times that i have no idea how fast i am traveling. I have since taken this matter to general motors in an attempt to give them an opportunity to rectify an unsafe situation.in response, they asked me to take the vehicle into a certified gm dealer for a vehicle diagnostic and repair.i did just that.my vehicle was found to have a problem with the instrument cluster.the dealer was nice enough to inform me that there have been several related problems that gm has issued a recall for... Unfortunately, i seem to have the only model in this vehicle class that is not covered in this recall.and gm was nice enough to offer to do absolutely nothing in my case... Which includes not refunding the cost of the diagnostic that they requested in order to gather their information. In my disappointment, i have done some online research and come across several lawsuits against gm for this exact problem... Some of which even include the trailblazer.my question is this:do i have any other course of action?also, has there already been a complaint similar to this that may be of assistance to me?

- the contact called regarding the 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact stated the speedometer would not go back to zero when the ignition was turned off.the speedometer would state50-70 mph when only traveling 5 mph.the speedometer cluster was replaced.the failure mileage was 76912.the contact has the repair order.the current mileage was 875000.updated 04/05/07.

Speedometer has become faulty.it may not register the correct speed of the vehicle.

The speedometer on my 2003 chevy trailblazer quit working.while driving the speedometer indicates the car is going 120+ mph.when parked it indicates the car is going 50+mph.this resulted in dangerous driving conditions throughout the weekend.i phoned the local battle creek chevrolet dealership monday (2/4) and was told that only certain gm vehicles were being repaired courtesy of gm and that at this time my vehicle did not qualify.on the internet i am seeing that this appears to be a common problem for other people who own the trailblazer.

My 2003 chevy trailblazer's speedometer just froze up. Sitting still, i am doing 90 mph. I tried disconnecting the negative battery terminal to reset it, but that did not work.

2003 trailblazer ext lt speedometer not working, odometer working fine. Bought it used didn't work when i bought it. Looked up to see if there was a recall but all i seen was numerous complaints of the same situation but no recall.

My chevy trailblazer 2003 ext speedometer has broke.apparently, there is an epidemic problem with trailblazers.gm has recalled all vehicles in this class except the trailblazer.why??????????

Speedometer freezes up and will not go back to 0.has happened 2 times in 6 weeks.

My instrument cluster panel started to malfunction but then reset itself.now, none of the instrument panel works.

I have a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext and the speedometer gauge quit working on me.i have done some research on this and find that many trailblazer owners have experienced similar problems.apparently, chevrolet had a recall program for dashboard gauge issues with other models but did not include the trailblazer as a covered modeled under this recall.other trailblazer owners who have posted complaints or problems online have advised filing a complaint through the nhtsa to see if enough complaints can be lodged against chevrolet to force a recall.it obviously is a very dangerous situation to have a defective speedometer.sometimes mine works fine, other times it registers the wrong speed, and still other times it doesn't register a speed at all.if this is a common occurrence among trailblazer owners, then i would think that chevrolet should cover it under their recall program along with the other models of chevrolet trucks & cars that have experienced similar problems.thank you.

Speedometer sticking at high speeds andnot showing actual speed driving.

Started the car and pulled out of my driveway was going 0-5 mph and the speedometer shot up to 40. Started driving down the road and it stayed stuck at 40, but i was doing 30mph. Pulled into the store 2 blocks up, shut the car off. When i turned it back on the car was registering 13 mph at a dead stop. Went back home, car sat overnight.started it for work in the morning on sunday and it was idling at 8 mph. Started driving to work and the speedometer was registering 60 mph, yet i was going with the flow of traffic on a city street that's speed limit was 45mph.seems i need to keep turning off the car and turning it back on again in order for the speedometer to reset to a lower number (i.e. 3 or 8 mph at a dead stop, vs. 13 to 18 mph at a dead stop). Revved the engine to see what the response would be, tachometer registered increase, but the speedometer did not budge at all!i worry the day it will say i am doing 40 but i am actually doing 55 around a curve. The car is absolutely off limits to my 17 year old now. Funny thing is i preferred her driving the trailblazer for safety vs. Her little vw convertible. Not any more!!i do not see how chevy claims this is not a safety issue!

The speedometer flutters around and sticks not showing my actual speed i am traveling.

We purchased our 2003 trailblazer ext used this summer.it had about 50,000 miles on it.we've noticed that when we're on the road for over 2 hours at a time, the speedometer becomes dangerously unreliable.most recently, my husband was pulled over for an unsafe low speed -- until the state policeman saw that the speedometer was registering 20 miles an hour with the car in park and the engine turned off.we have had multiple failures.resetting is sometimes possible by continually restarting the car, but not always, and not with any reliability.by continually restarting i'm talking 30-50 restarts.the wear and tear on the starter therefore is unacceptable.this vehicle should be covered by the recall, but we've not been notified and when we've taken it to dealerships, we haven't even been notified of the recall.the problem has no other discernible pattern and has happened approximately 6 times in the 8 months we've had the car.

I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer. My instrument cluster has stopped working. My speedometer, and oil gauges do not work. Chevy currently has a recall on other models for this problem, but not the trailblazer. I feel chevy need to take responsibility for all of their vehicles.

Speedometer quit working properly. May read 90 at a dead stop, may read 30 when traveling at 70, may read 120 at 50. No proper way to judge speed, have been using gps for speed. With speedometer working improperly, other equipment in vehicle is working improperly also (i.e. Computer components, emission components, etc.)

2003 chevy trailblazer speedometer and tach do not work properly. I have seen numerous complaints and gm has had a recall on this problem in numerous other vehicles but not this one.

Instrument cluster panel stops working.gas gauge shows empty, battery light appears, oil gauge and other instruments start acting erratically.i had my 2003 chevy trailblazer at the dealer several times.1st time they replaced the alternator, next time i was told the battery was weak.i had the battery checked at another location and it tested fine.my instruments are not registering properly again.this is about the 4th time this has happened and i don't want to be stuck somewhere along the highway.i never know when this problem will restart.

My 2003 trailblazer has a speedometer and tachometer that quit working most of the time. I contacted a gm dealer and was informed it would cost about $500 to repair. My cars inspections runs out soon and cant be inspected till this issue is repaired.

Ac delco factory installed battery leaks battery acid on the positive side terminal causing my 2003 chevy trailblazer ext to lose all power including loss of being able to open rear door.

Went out to start vehicle on september 18, 2004 - tuned key and nothing happened, no starter motor, no dashboard lights, nothing. Key remianed locked in steering column, could not be removed. Tried again the next morning (9/19) - same thing. Tried again the next morning (monday, 9/20). The same thing - at that point called dealer to tow vehicle. About 3 hours later the tow truck came - tow truck operator got in vehicle turned key - and vehicle started right up just as if nothing was ever wrong! . Still had vehicle towed to dealership - dealer checked behicle over and found nothing wrong. On saturday, october 23rd, came out of bank after running errnad, turned key in vehicle - nothing happened again. Kept turning key off and on for about 10 minutes until vehicle started out of the blue. Drove straight to dealer. Dealer replaced ignition switch. Vehicle worked fine until sunday, january 23rd. Went to start vehicle and one again, nothing happened, no lights, no starter - nothing. Key also locked in steering column. Dealer towed vehicle the next day. Dealer could find nothing wrong, theorized an interior light was left on (but i know it wasn't). Dealer replaced some engine fan they theorize was turning on after engine turned off and draining battery - i told them that's fine but doesn't explain why truck will start days after an initial failure. This intermittent failure is frightening as it seems to be a possible part of a larger system failure - as noted on this website by other owners - when the trailblazer will fail at high speeds on the highway. (reference odi id numbers 10101741 & 10060860).

Vehicle shut down whiledriving on the freeway, ignition locked.consumer shook the steering column and it started.there was a multiple vehicle collision since the vehicle shut down at 65 mph.

Failure of throttle body sensor and ignition switch on 2003 chevy trailblazer ext.failure left vehicle unable to start and unable to shift vehicle out of park.

The contact owned a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, fire erupted from underneath the vehicle. The vehicle stalled as the contact merged to the shoulder. The contact and all of the passengers exited the vehicle as it became engulfed into flames and was destroyed. The fire department and the police were notified. A report would be available if needed. No one was injured. The insurance company was notified. The contact also stated that the vehicle was repaired for routine maintenance two months prior. The manufacturer was not notified.the failure mileage was 66,000. Updated 08-30-12

Rear ac/engine coolant line was rubbed thru due to the defective installation of a heat shield.the two lines provide freon and engine coolant to the rear ac/heater.the gm part number is 15113349 and is on national back order because this part is not suppose to fail.gm currently has over 100 open tickets where this part is failing and they do not have any supply of replacement parts as this pipe is an aluminum pipe that ones from the front to the back and is not suppose to fail.

2003 chevy trailblazer transmission. . i usually have to stop, put the car in park, and then back in drive once or twice to get first gear to engage. Also, when passing or accelerating on the freeway, i am losing power.

I purchased a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext in june,2007. In jan of 2009 my problem first began. While driving normal speed, the service engine light sometimes comes on immediately followed by the "reduced engine power". When this happens, the car immediately loses power and the vehicles only goes around 10mph. You never know when it is going to happen. It can happen several times in a day or not at all. It is very dangerous when it happens because you can sometimes stop the traffic flow.the light will come off and the vehicle will return to normal speed if you stop the car and then restart it.it happens particularly when it is cold outside. In the morning it can happen 15-20 times before i get to work, and then in the afternoon only once or twice. I have taken it to several auto repair shops and no one seems to be able to fix it.they recommend one thing, i pay for it and then it happens again. I have had my clutch replaced and also the accelerator pedal system. I researched "chevy reduced engine power" on the internet and there are a great amount of pages of people experiencing this same problem.it appears to happen to chevy suvs, in particular the trailblazer.i don't understand how so many people can experience this same problem and there not be a recall.i have taken it to 2 chevy dealers and they don't even know what to do.i paid $18k for this vehicle in june, 2007 - i put $5k down and still owe about $10k.chevy needs to recognize this problem and correct it.the vehicle is virtually undrivable and unsafe.

Thermostat has failed twice during long trips.this causes the engine to run hot or cold.i am on my third one and have concluded it must be a design defect.failure of this component may cause the engine to fail and thus strand the driver.

I own a 2003 chevy trailblazer lt @ 35,825 miles i reported my vehicle binds up on turns & of course the garage found nothing (drove it 20 miles for comparison @ the time).so now that i am up to 82,090 miles now i mention suspension issues still & of course they find both lower ball joints need replaced @ $320.06 & left outer tie rod end broken @ $170.80.also they inform me i need to replace 3 of my 4 stabilizer bar links are loose & rattling @ an estimate of $320.00 (haven't done yet)also, i have looked on a website called mycarstats.com & found many others with these same issues with this vehicle @ much lower mileage & where tie rod issue caused an accident -- they weren't as lucky as me.also people i work with who have this same yr & model vehicle have had to have ball joints, sway bars replaced, and other suspension work @ lower mileages.i also had an issue with my 4-wheel drive becoming inoperative & this did almost cause me to wreck going up hill during winter weather.they replaced front differential engagement actuator.all these things in my mind should not have happened at these mileages.the 4-wheel drive quit @ 80,000 miles.all these issues can create safe driving issues for the consumer especially someone who pays over $30,000 for a vehicle when it's new. Let me add now that the latest expensive repair to add to my list is the fan clutch assembly on my engine cooling fan system $573.00 -- also found many gm owners of bravada, rainers, envoys & trailblazers experiencing this items failure too.

2003 trailblazer transmission lines. Coolant lines rusted at the factory connection. Major fluid loss, had to repair immediately.

Antifreeze is leaking from rear heater core.caused my engine to overheat.fluid leaks at a fairly rapid rate.in doing research i found that they changed the heater core so this repair costs an extra $500 for parts to retrofit a new heater core.if there is a flaw in the design why isn't this a recall?it could cause engine damage.i called gm with no luck.

Trailblazer over heated about a year ago, ran diagnostics-changed the fan clutch assy, worked for two months. Over heated again- more diagnostics-warranty fan clutch, worked for a week- warranty fan clutch again and changed the coolant temp sensor- still over heating. Dealership wanted to change the fan clutch again- i refused because this is about to run me into the poor house.

My 2003 tb has clicking noise and the check engine light has came on several times, about 2 or three years ago the cam sensor had to be replaced, sometimes the car will shake or rough idle. I took it to get the check engine light serviced and they said they had to order parts, after the parts did not come in, after almost a week i took my car home for the weekend. No one ever call about the parts coming in, so i called about 2 1/2 weeks later and they said the parts were in, it had been aprox. 35 days from the first visit. When i took it back i expected the car to be in the shop just a few hours to put the parts in. I checked on the car later in the day and they said they needed to keep it because it was showing a service code p0014, and they wanted to make sure that the parts ordered would fix the problem., because some newer tb's needed a new motor when showing that p0014 code. Has any one had this problem?

We own a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext.our vehicle has 58k miles.we noticed this year, our vehicle has been burning excessive amounts of oil.a couple of examples are during a 600 mile trip our oil consumption was 5 quarts of oil.we have regular oil changes every 3,000 miles. Another example recently includes 2,000 miles after an oil change was completed we had to add 2 1/2 quarts of oil.we are receiving black smoke from the expired in 2006.

Tick tick tick at idle.engine stalls during idle - oil pressure drops to sensor level then engine stalls.

The exhaust manifold on my 2003 chevy trailblazer ext has cracked at 54000 miles, and must be replaced at a cost of around $400.i contacted gm directly, and was told that this is considered "normal wear and tear."i disagree.if that is the case, then why would i keep the vehicle, knowing i can anticipate another costly repair within the reasonable life of the vehicle.my local chevy dealers service manager tells me gm is repairing many of these parts on the 4.2 l. Engine of not only the trailblazer, but other vehicles as well.a local aftermarket parts store also says his suppliers have many of these parts on hand.more than one might expect if this were an unexpected occurrence.i believe gm knows it has a part that is unsound, but it is unwilling to correct the problem at its expense.an exhaust manifold is not supposed to fail within less than 4 years, and at 54000 miles.that is not "normal wear and tear.

Ticking noise under hood when engine is running.diagnosed as leaking exhaust manifold.bolts securing exhaust manifold broken.repair requires removing cylinder head to remove old bolts.cost estimated at $2,000 plus.complaint filed with chevrolet.claim initially denied.

Headlamps keep going out and the connectors keep melting and burningthe rear radio speakers go outthe rear heat/air goes outthe level 5 setting on the fan does not workthese are not unusual complaints for this vehicle, there seems to be a standard being set with these issues.

Continuing failure of rear lighting (back-up, brake, driving, and turn).typically, i have to replace a bulb about every 6 weeks, and the entire left assembly has been replaced twice since the car was new.bulbs and sockets melt until they are inoperable.similar issue with front headlights, although only about once a year.old bulbs and assembly disposed of, but i'm sure more melted ones will be available soon.

My 2003 trailblazer ext lost its third brake light, which fell off (for the third time).the entire housing flew off, and it was lost.also, the passenger brake light will not work, even after replacing the control board and bulb.

I have two problems: when driving at night, headlights go off, not way to see, other than put on brights.rim, broke to small pieces, had just gotten off i 95, was on off ramp when the car started making a very loud and scary noise, we had two small children onboard . Had this happen while on i 95 we could have all been dead.

While driving down highway started to hear a banging noise turns out it was my plastic that's above my hatch where my 3 red brake light is it hasn't fallen off yet just loose and flopping around i have read this happens to a lot of trailblazer this should be a safety recall on this and even you guys are aware of the problem the molding which is double sided tape is not a proper use for this the company should have to fix it is it gonna take one flying off and causing a death and major accident before anyone does something?

Purchased a 2003 chevy trailblazer-ext lt in dec 2002 from the dealer, team chevrolet in pasadena.since purchasing the vehicle, there's been several recalls, one in particular that keeps recurring are the brake lights keep burning, the dealer changed both units but it keeps burning out.i got tired of taking it to the dealer, so i purchased new bulbs and looked intoreplacing them myself. However when i unscrewed the bulb, i noticed the bulb just didn't burn normally (like a home lamp) it looked more of an electrical issue, the lining of where the bulb is screwed in looked like it had white residue and it smelled smoky. Also, don't know if its the shocks or suspension, makes odd noises.dealer said its fine, but the noise is still there.shorly after my engine light turned on...the dealer could not figure what was wrong after a 2 to 3 week and costly expense and time...they switched out the gas tank...come to find out, that wasn't the problem, the engine light turned on again, they said one of the pistons needed replacing...$$$ that was a big expense and time consuming... Everytime i took it to them it, something was fixed, they charge, i pay, and the engine light would turn on, it got frustrating. Till, they finally got it right. Now my car sounds horrible (shocks/suspension noise got worse) when i go over city bumps or driving even small like hills, and mind you, which is driven by myself (female 124lbs) it shouldn't squeak or make noises, the brakes pedal makes a noise when i place my foot on it....yes it has 90k miles and it's an 8 year old car, but i kept up with the maintenances, i've taken it to the same dealer since it was purchased, only drive it to and from work....the car is in good condition, no hit/scratches/no tears....i can't explain why.... Are there any other recalls, the dealer isn't aware of??? for instance they were not aware of the gas tank recall..which they were charging me over $1200 to repair, how can i trust they are doing their job?

Every few days when i use the turn signal all lights will flash as if the hazard warning lights have been activated. This is exactly like the gm recall for the 2003 chevrolet trailblazer however my vin is outside of the recall.

When getting the oil changed for our trailblazer, they told us that the driver's side reverse light was out.when they went to replace it, they informed us that the entire area for the bulb was rusted out.we have noticed that moisture collects in both brake light areas when it rains or after a car wash.is there a recall for this?

Dealer was contacted jan 2005 to schedule replacement parts for rear lights as part of the recall.i was told that they could not do it without the recall notice number that was sent to me.called back a day later and gave the dealer the number from the recall notice.he told me that the parts would need to be ordered and they would call me.i received a third recall notice from chevrolet on 2/26/05 and called the dealer on 3/2/05 and spoke with a man in service.he told me that the parts were not ordered and that i would need to bring the car in for them to order the parts and then again when the parts come in.i have explained to him that i have replaced 6 taillight and brake lights within the last 6 months and why wasn't i informed of this when i called before.apparently they do not have a call back procedure for when they screw up.

I have replace my tail/brake light several times since i purchase the vehicle.just this morning i have to go to chevrolet service department to get my brake light replaced.it cost me 14.79 to have it replaced.so i decided to research the recalls to see if there is a recall.i remember getting a letter earlier indicating that the light would be replaced free of charge for a certain amount of time.please let me know if this is correct.thank you, betty wilson.

Exterior brake lights operate inconsistently. We replace bulbs and then they still don't work or work for a short period of time. We are not sure if the bulbs are prematurely burning out or if the brake light component is faulty. At times, without warning, the car will have no brake lights. Dangerous!

Dt: the contact owns a2003 chevrolet trail blazer. Safety defect in turn signals. Received a letter from general motors, then contact received a letter from the dealer. My 2003 chevy trailblazer has a third brake light across the top hatch .while driving down a busy highway it was flying like a wing on the back of my vehicle luckily dot falling completely off but when i stopped it came crashing down onto my window of hatch luckily not breaking all i could do is break it completely off so it would not fly into someone's windshield behind me i work with a lady with the same make and model and hers flew right off her latch causing it to smash luckily no one was behind her. I also have it in the shop due to rusty corroded hoses that went to transmission causing all fluid to drain almost burning up my transmission no indication lights ever came on other than it skipping a little luckily a service engine light came on a week later i took it to garage and just in time. Unfortunately even with power train warranty this problem is costing me 500.00 out of my pocket no fault of mine wheel wells and brake drums have been beaten due to lots of rust build up and doors that were recalled and fixed three times still not working right also front headlight replaced twice in two years causing me to be pulled over twice as i did not realize the problem of my lights going out frequently.

My right front headlight was burned out, and upon investigation, i discovered that the plug and bulb socket had melted along with several inches of wire.it was repaired after some back and forth discussion with the chevrolet dealer.i thought this incident was strange, but thought it was a random incident until i read on a web forum that this appears to be a common occurrence.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact has had both headlights replaced on her vehicle and now they fail to illuminate.when it gets dark outside, the headlights would normally activate automatically, but they fail to activate any longer.the dealer and the manufacturer have not been contacted.the vin, engine size, and failure mileage were unknown.the current mileage is 120,000.

Headlights become inoperative when driving: when driving at night the headlights stop working i have been forced to pull over and wait until the lights become operative.i have discussed this problem with my local dealer and he stated that there was know visual reason that he could find on why this was happening he advised that i should bring the car in the next time it happened, this presents a problem because if the lights fail in the day light hours i wouldn't be able to see the failure only at night can i visually see that my headlights have failed. The headlight failure can last for minutes to hours i have been driving on the highway at 65 mph and my headlights completely fail.

Head lamps and sockets keep burning out.

2003 chevrolet trailblazer - purchased in may of 2003 off of the sales floor - around 5 miles on it - truck began squeaking - took it in, they said bad break pads, changed them out and gave it back (2 days without truck) - squeaking still there - took it back in - service tech said the front spindle was bent - told me i couldn't drive it it was unsafe (5 more days without truck) - at the same time they take truck to body shop because rear hatch won't shut it too is bent - same with the hood (hmmmmmmmm!!!!) - rear wiper motor then busts (now i'm erked) - driving down the highway at 55 and truck shuts off - no power steering almost wreck it seems the gas gauge is not accurate!!!!!!! - then blower motor won't shut off without taking fuse out ... No heat in rear heaters, climate control doesn't work (yet a few more days without truck)- the last straw - my 9 month old truck has a broken transfer case and the 4-wheel drive went out - of course the 4-wheel drive went out on a steep hill in the middle of winter - not acceptable in alaska not acceptable in a new truck!!!!!! - had to get out of a defective truck so now we are stuck with a brand new tahoe that is $10,000+ upside down! you decide who is wrong in this case!

Took trailblazer into champion chevroletand they replaced turn signal module due to short circuit .hazard flashers come on when driver moves turn signal lever up or down.spoke to chevrolet regarding possible recall and was told my vehicle was not part of the recall because the recall involves vin#'s with the last four digits ending in 362 and mine ends in 361.i believe there may be other customers with this same issue and this causes a safety problem.

Fuel system, other:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittingsfuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly.

About a month ago i started to smell gas vapors when i drove my car.one day i was on the highway and a person next to me honked his horn and told me that he saw gas leaking under my car. I was near pep boys and pulled in the parking lot. I shut my car off and looked underneath it. I saw a lot of gas dripping from under my fuel tank and falling onto the ground. I went inside pep boys and told them the problem. It was nearly closing time so i left the car overnight and called for a ride home. Pep boys called me the next morning and gave me an estimate of $270 just to drop the tank and look at what may have caused the leak. They said it was likely a bad fuel pump or bad fuel lines. I asked them another estimate on how much it would cost to fix my gas leak. They said it would cost around $600 to $800 to fix my car if the fuel pump or bad fuel lines were really the problem. I told them to not work on the car and said that i would pick it up. So i towed the car back home and pulled it into the garage. This is the first time that my car has leaked gas. The next day i took off the fuel tank to check where the leak was coming from. When i looked at the top of the tank, the fuel pump was corroded and there was gas on the outside of the pump. Also when i took the tank off, the filler neck hose was cracked and was not connected to the gas tank. I called a junk yard and ordered a fuel pump for $150. I also called my local dealer and told them my issue. They said that my car had too many miles on it and was not covered by warranty anymore. Since the dealer could not help me, i called general motors customer service and issued a safety defect on my vehicle. They said that there was a extended special coverage on my vehicle that might cover the repair. I called another dealership and i am waiting for them to call me back. Right now my car has been in the garage for almost a month. The only way to fix it is to buy a new gas tank for $500.

Strong gas fumes and check engine light comes on -reads an evap code.

I have intermittent smell of fuel coming from vehicle; consistently declining mpg; ses light coming on; taken it to the dealership after having received a letter stating that there was a fuel tank or pump issue; they diagnosed that the filler neck was cracked a nd leaking but stated that it wasn't part of the repairs from the letter and said it would cost a $1000to replace my fuel tnk and then they would replace the fuel pump module for free.

Re: special policy adjustment-fuel tank inlet check valve fracture #05012.about 2 weeks ago i started to smell gasoline in a very strong way in my 2003 chevy trailblazer ext and had this checked out and was told that my gasoline tank neck was cracked.this apparently is a recall but i was told my vehicle had too many miles and would not receive a new gas tank.i have 3 children and the smell was very overwhelming this has to present some type of danger while driving.my vehicle is no longer under warranty and my auto mechanic can obtain a gas tank from a dealership for $600.the total cost of repair is $800.is it possible to receive some type of reimbursement for this clear and present danger from a defect that is not my fault? thank you, denise randall

I have a 2003 trailblazer with 73,000 miles on it.just recently we are smelling gas fumes really bad to the point it makes us sick and is also hard to deal with one car having to be dropped off at work, etc.i have 3children and have parked the vehicle because number 1, i feel like this is a big safety hazard for my children and number 2, i cannot afford to repair this after reading all the comments on the internet ($900.-$1000. To repair).it sounds like there are a lot of people dealing with the same thing.can you tell me where to go with this situation?am i suppose to contact gm, and if so are they doing anything about this problem?thanks, sandy nosker

Fuel systemfuel pump module had corrosion and leaked gas, had to replace.

Where the gas filler neck connects to the gad tank this area develops a crack allowing gas to leak from the vehicle and during filling up to a couple quarts of gas can run onto cement by the pump, also strong gas smell in the garage.. This also triggers the check motor light. According to internet postings other trail blazer owners are experiencing the same problem.

I am the owner of a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext, i purchased the vehicle new from gm. In the last year my ses light has been coming on, i took my vehicle to an auto parts store and they analyzed my vehicle to read the code causing the ses light to come on. I had a leak in my fuel tank emissions system. They recommended i replace my fuel cap to fix the problem. Over the past year and after replacing the fuel cap, the problem would go away for a month or so and they reoccur. I took my vehicle in for a system check of the fuel system. My mechanic performed a smoke test on the fuel system, they told me they found a fracture on a weld with the fuel tank, furthermore they said there was problems with the chevrolet trailblazers with faulty welds on the fuel tank. I searched the internet and found auto forum board stating gm has known about this problem for a while.talking with a co-worker about my problem, he stated he owned a 2003 trailblazer and recalled receiving a notice from gm about this problem, he gave me a copy of his notice where the notice talks about fracture of a weld on the fuel tank and chevrolet providing owners with an extension of repairs for 10 years of ownership or 150,000 miles. I never received a notice from chevrolet about this program. I called the chevrolet customer assistance center, where i told them what happened with my vehicle; i also told them i had 167,000 mile on my vehicle. They told me they first needed to verify the crack by a gm dealership mechanic. They also told me i had to pay for the fuel system to be check and there might be some consideration for them to pay for the repair if it was indeed a crack in the fuel system.the crack was confirmed by the chevrolet dealer, but they told me since my vehicle had over 150,000 miles they would not pay for the repair of my vehicle. The fuel tank is a static system, it should not wear out, i feel gm designed a faulty product and should repair this crack at their cost. Please help me.

There is a strong odor of gasoline vapors coming from the rear of the vehicle, a crack can be seen in the neck of the fuel tank. When filling the vehicle, fuel spills out of the tank from the crack. The fuel gauge cluster in the dash doesn't work. The blower on the a/c unit doesn't work on the highest (5) level. Also, the fan clutch went out causing the car to overheat severely. The fan does not engage, causing the water pump shaft to become damaged. Also, the rear driver side window quit functioning, despite buying an expensive new regulator and replacing it. Having researched the issues, i find that i am among hundreds, possibly thousands of unsatisfied people with the same problems.

Fuel leak on top of fuel tank. This is a known safety issue, and an extended service/warranty was added to fix this problem. The dealership said the vehicle should not be driven as-is. I did not receive notice of this warranty. Gm refuses to offer any more than a 10% discount, even though 3 months prior this same defect would have been fixed at no cost under the special warranty coverage. I was willing to split the cost 50/50, but no other options were deemed acceptable by gm. My vehicle is under the 120,000 mile cutoff as specified in the extended service, but 3 months out of date. Being this is a known problem and severe fire hazard, i feel gm should offer a better solution and at the minimum a reduced cost repair.

Had to replace fuel tank because filler neck cracked due to being brittle had to replace fuel pump due to top rusting out and causing a gas leaki received a large bill to replace these parts and expected them to last longer then 8 years.

Leak of gas from 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. Point where filler neck connects to gas tank. It is defective part and leaks gas under driver side door.

Service engine soon light on when we bought it.had it checked into, error code indicated a leak in fuel system.suggested a new gas cap.that was not the problem.there is a crack in the nipple on the gas tank where the fill pipe hose connects.need to replace the whole tank.appr. Cost just for the tank $500 plus labor.

I am filing a complaint against the 2003 chevrolet trailblazer.i took my car into the mechanic because to see why the service engine light was on.he stated in that is was the evap system, meaning gases are leaking from my car.hestated in that its a common problem on these models because the hose attached to my gas tank causes the rim to crack and gas leaks through the crack everytime i fill up my car.i inquired having it fixed.in some many words he stated the only thing i could do is to replace the gas tank, but part (the hose) has not been modified from the original, so basically i will have the same problem.he showed me where the gas tank was moist from gas leaking.i am fortunate to have not been in an accident yet.however just to know that i have gas leaking from my car is enough to have me concerned.i would appreciate if someone can look into this problem.thanks

Fuel smell inside and outside of vehicle.

I own a 2003 chevy trailblazer xlt, when i fill the tank up and park on a hill the tank leaks gas out from the top of the tank or the top of the cup that connects to and goes into the tank.i have a steep driveway and now i notice that i leak gas when i am on a full tank and parked on a steep hill...i have 3 boys ranging from 2, 4 and 14 and they all smelled and saw the gas.

Smell of gas around vehicle. Cracked fuel tank fill tube check valve broken at tank.

I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext the fuel pump module has started to corrode, i knew something was wrong because of the strong odor of gasoline inside the vehicle and further investigation showed a leak of gas also.this is in addition to our gas gauge not working for the last 3 years.upon talking to multiple rep's,gm claims they sent out letters in 2007alerting the consumer to a potential problem. I am the second owner of this vehicle. I purchased this vehicle in september 2005. Gm statedthat letters do get lost in the mail, when i stated we were not made aware of this situation. I was never informed of this potential hazard waiting to happen. Gm claims the service bulletin had parameters of 10 years or a 120, 000 miles which ever comes first. I have been in contact with the rep several times, and have not been successful.i do have 149,000 plus miles on this vehicle. I took the truck to thelocal dealership, they were claiming nothing has ever been documented on thistype of vehicle. This is when i did myown research and found the service bulletin as mentioned above and the complaints of this same problem all through the internet blogs.it seems we are not getting anywhere and would appreciate some condsideration from gmand taking part of the responsibility for this problem.we had our children in this car when the gas was leaking out, what if it would have caught on fire?i would like to contact our regional representative for gm.

Smell of gas developed around vehicle at all times. Had it looked at and nothing was found. Brought it to another shop and they dropped out the fuel tank, finding the top of the tank wet with fuel and the connection rusted. The solution was to replace the fuel pump and parts.

Theservice engine light was coming on and we had diagnostic done and was told that it was the gas cap. We replaced several time. Everytime i drove or rode in my vehicle i smelled gas and i would get a horrible headache. My husband took my vehicle to get an emission test done we were told the fuel tank was cracked at the neck and leaking gas. We had it repaired nov 6, 2009 after we had been told of this. The shop that repaired my vehicle said they were shocked it had not caught on fire. There was evidence this had been going on for a while. Probably when we were told the gas cap was loose is when it started, and that had been over a year before.

This is my second complaint due to a second problem with the fuel system. Vehicle was taken to dealership for gas leak, which turned out to be caused by 2 different, well-known fuel system problems. Gm offered no solution to either problem because i'm 3 months outside of the extended warranty. My total bill for both leaks was $1,500. Both leaks are known safety problems, as referenced in bulletins 07099 and 07076. I was told the vehicle should not be driven because of the leaks. Gas tank replacement is not what i consider normal a maintenance item. It is a known problem and these tanks need to be recalled.

I have a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext and it has started to smell like gas is leaking. After some research on the internet i have found this is more common in these vehicles than i would of thought. I have contacted my local dealer and a part is being ordered, but i would like to make sure that it will be at no cost to me to have this repaired. I understand it can fall under a special policy adjustment or tsb# 05012. This is a big safety hazard and would like to know that someone is making sure this is fixed so that a leak will not put any families at risk.

Began to smell fuel from the rear of my 2003 trailblazer ext. I had received a letter from gm stating the filler neck some times cracks and would be fixed without cost. I took the vehicle to my dealer, they dropped the tank and said the fuel module was corroded and they would replace the tank but want 625.00 dollars to replace the fuel module. And will not release my vehicle. I told them to put it back the way it was and they said they can't.

Check engine light came on at approximately 56,000 miles, diagnostic check was performed by the dealer. Findings: gas vapor pouring from the seal, corrosion and moisture. Need to replace the gas tank.

I have a fuel line leak and my husband got on-line and saw that there is possibly going to be a recall.i called chevy and the guy told me that there is a possibility of "special coverage" for this.he asked me my mileage and the vin number then put me on hold.then he came back on line and told me that my trailblazer was 10,000 miles over the limit for the coverage.i think this is ridiculous.it's only 7 yrs. Old and i don't think that mileage should have anything to do with it.it's a safetyhazard and i have 3 children that are passengers in this vehicle.so therefore i have no vehicle until this is fixed and the cost is so outrageous that i have no idea when i'll be able to get it fixed and i have no way of getting myself to and from work and i'm going to have to try to rely on other people to take me to and from places.i think this problem should have absolutely nothing to do with mileage of a vehicle and that chevy should fix this.i have read on-line of alot people having the same issue with their trailblazer.

2003 trailblazer ext, began to have strong odor of gasoline after operation. No signs of visible gas noted under vehicle.problem persisted, (approx 1 month) and gasoline became obvious in liquid form dripping from bottom of tank and framing of vehicle.vehicle taken to local mechanic and fuelpump/modulator changed and problem resolved.

In the past 3 years vehicle had gas odor upon exiting vehicle upon use. Until recently, fuel started leaking profuselywhen vehicle was running. General motors issued extended warranty due to many complaints regarding this issue.we being the original owner of the vehicle were never sent any information regarding the extension of any factory warranty regarding this issue.after contacting general motors about this issue, they stated that the vehicle is beyond the year and mileage of the extended warranty. If we would of been notified by gm about this problem with leaking fuel tanks we would of resolved this issue when we started smelling the fumes a few years back when the extended warranty would of been in effect. After contacting gm and speaking with a representative, they refused to honor the warranty. Gm neglected to contact and inform us of any extended warranty that applied to our vehicle regarding this issue.we feel that this problem with the fuel tank is a safety issue that could be a potential fire hazard causing serious injury to anyone inside or around the vehicle. We are going to file a written complaint with general motors.please let me know how you feel about this situation.thank you.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact stated that whenever the vehicle is filled with fuel, the sensor that indicates the tank is full fails to work.as a result, gasoline overflows and leaks from the tank outside of the vehicle.since december of 2008, the vehicle has been repaired four times, which included a fuel tank assembly and tank replacement.the vin was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 55,000.

I filled my gas tank on my 2003 chevy trailblazer ext.and got a gas smell, shortly after the check engine light came on.there is a leak in the fill and fuel pump area i guess.i was referred to see if there were any recalls for this defect and came across this.the garage did a temp. Repair with silicon that only lasted 3 weeks.now the same thing is happening.i would have to change the entire gas tank to fix this issue.

Nhtsa action number : pe07014 occurred on my vehicle around november 2014.the problem presented as p0442 cel and odor of gas after parking in garage. Gm has indicated because the special consideration allowance has expired, despite the low mileage they will do nothing. This vehicle was purchased new in august 2003.i do not understand why gm was not compelled to issue a safety recall due to the risk of gas leaking.i would appreciate assistance to get gm to minimally provide defective parts replacement, due to the know manufacturing defect in the gas tank.

Gasoline smell when car is running.possibly related to fuel tank connectors.

Ses light came on. Dealership had no apps brought to mechanic.code was for fuel emission leak. Replace gas cap. Week later code ses came on again.brought back to the mechanic, said fuel tank is cracked. Called chevy and was told there was a recall but not my vin.....

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact stated that the fuel tank was rusted and as a result, was leaking large amounts of fuel.the dealer and manufacturer were contacted but were unable to provide assistance to the contact.the vehicle was not repaired. 2003 chevy trailblazer ext ? smelled gas, no visual sign of leaking, smell got continuously worse and could smell in the cabin.then you could see gas dripping from the tank. Had to have the fuel sending unit replaced.this is a very serious problem and we were fortunate that no one got hurt. Feel this is a poor design for the vehicle and it should be recalled before someone gets seriously hurt or killed. This failure occurred around 46,000 miles.

Ismelleda strong odor of gasoline, andhad fuel leaking from the gas tank. I was afraid to keep driving it like that, itook it to get repaired. The service technician had to replace the sending unit module, part # mu1377.he said it was corroded.

2003 chev trailblazer 52,000miles.fuel spraying from under the vehicle when it is running.diagnosed as fuel pump housing corroded.complaint filed with chevrolet for warranty replacement.request denied, had pump replaced at local shop.did not keep old part, can get affidavit from repair shop.

Smell of fuel after driving. Fuel leaking in vicininty of gas tank onto driveway. Brought 2003 trailblazer for servicing. Fuel pump was leaking fuel where connected to sending unit. Fuel pump replaced. Original sending unit transferred onto new pump. Parts cost$500.00 andlabor $180.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact smelled fuel inside the passenger compartment when the engine was started.there were no warning lights.the dealer stated that there was a fuel leak from the fuel sending unit.the failure was caused by a cracked and corroded line.the fuel pump module was replaced.the current and failure mileages were 60,000. The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact opened the rear hatch and heard a cracking noise coming from the top.approximately three to four days later the contact noticed that the center high mounted stop lamp bracket failed.the vehicle was brought to the dealer simmons-rockwell chevrolet.the dealertookthe vehicle to another mechanic, and informed the contact that the failure was typical for that type of vehicle and was indeed a safety issue.the mechanic stated that the entire center high mounted stop lamp could become detached while driving and strike another vehicle.the contact found another complaint online with odi # 10061979.the contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer, and was given case # 71-500170558. Also, the contact stated the fuel system failed. In january of 2007, the contact detected an aroma of gas while driving the vehicle.the odor became increasingly potent, and the vehicle was taken to the dealer, whostated that the fuel pump module was corroded and leaked. Andthe dealer quoted a repair price of $800.the fuel pump filter was repaired, and after seriousnegotiations, the contact was only required to pay $196.00.the contact searched online ,and found an open investigation, pe07013 from nhtsa dated march 12, 2007 for the fuel system. The failure mileage was 42,229.

I own a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext. I smelled a strong odor of gas emanating from my vehicle recently.after some investigating, i discovered that there was fuel leaking out of the top of my fuel tank only while the engine was running.i dropped the fuel tank and discovered that the metal nipples from the top of the fuel pump that connect the fuel lines to the fuel pump were completely rusted and when the vehicle was running, fuel was jetting all over the under carriage of my vehicle. The metal ring that holds the fuel pump to the tank was also severely rusted.gm should know better than to put exposed metal fittings in a recessed tank where it is subject to rust, salt, corrosion etc.i had to replace the fuel pump at a significant cost. I also believe that this could be a potential fire hazard as the fuel was jetting all over the undercarriage and its proximity to the exhaust. My fittings were so brittle that you could crush them with your bare hands.left unchecked, undoubtedly i would have experienced a loss of power and would have been a hazard to the other vehicles on the road-yet alone probably would have been stranded when the vehicle died. The old parts are available for inspection. A fuel pump should last more that (3) years in my opinion.this is a design and/or product failure.

Fuel tank sending unit lines corroded and leaking.

I own a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext. I began smelling gas, and soon after noticed it leaking from my vehicle.after taking it into my local dealership it was found that my fuel module and gas lines needed to be replaced because of corrosion. Because of the word corrosion it then voided being covered under my extended warranty.the suv sat at the dealership for 5 weeks because of a national backorder on the fuel lines.so, with having no vehicle rental would not be covered because it was not warranty work.i was stuck with a $900.00 bill on a vehicle that wasthree and a half years old.

After fuelingsmelled a fuel odor when none was spilled.

I recently had my fuel tank replace now i hear knocking and i understand that the fuel pump have been damage because of this. Gmc needs to look into this as a recall.

Several times happening inthe outside vicinity of my vehicle i could smell gasoline.took my vehicle to the dealerand described my problem to them and expressed my safety concerns about the gas smell. They advised me my vehicle should not be driven until they could inspect and diagnose the nature of the gasoline smell. Dealer inspected andfound the fuel sending unit and line to be corroded on top of the gas tank and it was leaking fuel onto the tank. Dealer in process of replacing fuel sending unit with a new unit. Cost of repair quoted at $840 dollars. Dealer gave me a discounted quote "to help make things right" of around $340. Vehicle is a 2003 chevy trailblazer with 65,000 miles. Seems unacceptable to me for a 4 year old vehicle to develop a problemof this nature.

Fuel tank sending unit lines corroded and leaking.

I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer and the service engine soon light was on.i took it to the dealership to have it looked at and they said the gas tank inlet line had a crack in it and i needed a new tank, it would cost $906.i did some research and there is a special policy adjustment #05012 for 2002 trailblazers.the dealership said they would replace it for free cause they are the same tanks on the 2002 and 2003, but i still had to pay $87.00 for the diagnostic fee. I told the dealership and customer service all the vehicles should be recalled and changed before someone gets seriously hurt from on exploding.they told me they are doing something about it, they are replacing my tank. But what about all the other tanks out there that could be leaking, and if someone rear ends them, or a elect short causes a spark, a cigarette being flicked out the window, someone needs to do something about it before someone get killed.

Fuel odor from the vehicle.

My2003 trailblazer ext smell of fumes. I took it to the dealership in the first case they told me that i need a new gas top and a seal. The check engine like came on again this time they tell me that the fuel tank at the sprout has a leak and i need a new gas tank.

Since july 2006, mileage 49,000, we have had our check engine light come on many times for the same code.after many trips to the garage, and many things replaced, on jan 31, 2007, mileage 55,802, the dealer told us that i should not drive it home as it could be a fire hazard as there were cracks all over the top part of the gas tank by the filler hose.a new tank was put on and cost came to $832.74.i spoke with customer service at gm and they said gm would do nothing for reimbursement.since then, i have seen many vehicles posted on the web that have had to have there tanks replaced.if this is a safety concern and fire hazard, why is this not becoming a recall, and why is gm not being held responsible for any of this?i don't think a vehicle with 49,000 miles on should have to have a tank replaced.thanks for your time.

There is a strong gasoline smell near the rear of my 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext. No dripping gasoline is visible.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the contact stated that he smells gas fumes while driving the vehicle.while pumping gas, the contact noticed fuel leaking.the manufacturer sent a technical service bulletin for an icv fracture and stated that the fuel tank would be replaced.the dealer refused to replace the tank.the current and failure mileages were 83,000.

Service engine light came on immediately after filling tank with gas. Took to mechanic and they tightened the gas cap and then reset the service engine light and drove around and no light came on. Three days later the service engine soon light came on again. Took back to mechanic and they ran more diagnostics and found three crack s in the opening (neck) of the gas tank. I had to have the tank replaced in order for the vehicle to function without the service engine light to come on. A new gas tank on a 2003 vehicle is unheard of and i wonder how many other gas tanks on 2003 chevy trailblazers or other gm vehicles have had to replaced due to this same problem??

I own a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer w/ 69016 miles.my service engine soon light came on so i took it into bill heard chevrolet where the veh was purchased to check the reason for the light.i was advised by the service manager that this was due to a leak in the gas tank and that the repair would cost approximately $1000. I took the vehicle home to have a second opinion done and do further research on the problem.i have found doing a google search that this is a common issue with the 2002-2005 chevr trailblazer.so i contacted the dealership and they stated that their have been no recalls and that gm is not anticipating to have one. This is a fire hazard and major safety issue.how can this not be recalled?

I own a 2003 chevy trailblazer.a month after we purchased it we found out the vehicle leaks fuel when ona driveway incline. Thecheck engine light came on and i took the vehicle to a mechanic.they said it was code on p0440 -evap leak small.when they checked it out they found a crack around filler neck of gas tank. They said there was already a tech service bulletin that said a small crack occurs above fluid level.gas tank needs to be replaced.i called a dealership and apparently these gas tanks are hard to come by because they are back ordered due to this being so common on this vehicle.

2003 chevy trailblazer ext has crack where fuel filler neck meets the fuel tank. It causes dtc p0440 to be set, ses light to illuminate and fuel to leak from fuel tank.

I have a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext, which also has a leak in the plastic gas tank. It was detected in the garage by the strong odor. I was told by the mechanic today that this is not uncommon for this model. The plastic break is where the neck is molded into the tank. Very dangerous situation, considering many homes, as ours, has the water heater in the garage.

The gas tank had a manufacture defect as the weld on the tank cracked and was leaking.

1) there was a strong odor of fuel coming from in and around the vehicle2)the lines on top of the fuel tank on the fuel sending unit were rotted after 60k miles3)the fuel sending unit and the lines were replaced ($900 dollars total).

I have a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The "service engine soon" light came on. I took it in to a chevrolet dealership. It was found that the gas tank was leaking gas and the tank would not hold pressure thus causing the light to come on. The tank was leaking where the filler neck attaches to the tank. The dealership service director stated that the the crack was clearly a defect and was not caused by damage or misuse. Because the vehicle was out of warranty he stated the repair would be at my expense and would be approximately $750-$800.00. I phoned chevrolet customer assistance and filed a complaint. After they communicated with the chevrolet district service rep. They concluded that gm warranty would not pay for the repairs, even despite the danger and liability involved. They did suggest that if the dealership would approve, to have them do it at the dealership cost. The gm customer assistance rep stated that my only other form of arbitration was through the better business bureau.as of this date the repairs have not been made.i have found quite a number of trailblazer owners on the internet who have had the same problem and have had to pay to have the repair made out of pocket.

I detected a strong gas smell and took the truck to be repaired. I was informed that the fuel pump module was leaking due to being rusted out. I took it to the dealership (jeff wyler). They agreed to cover the repair of the gas tank and the labor (due to a special warranty due to other fuel leak problems), but would not cover the cost ( $454 + tax) which was the part that was the cause of the problem. The assembly of this part is unpainted medal and rusts very easily (most other company use plastic assembles to prevent this very problem). The location of this part makes it almost impossible to wash, in order to remove any salt or other corrosive elements. I do not see a way that i could have prevented the rusting of this part. I believe this is a design defect that chevy should have to correct, due to the fact that it could have very easily cause a fire to the vehicle due to the amount of fuel/vapor leaking.

- the contact stated that while attempting to put gas into his 2003 chevrolet trailblazer (failed mileage 26521) the gas would not enter the tank.the gas would spill back out onto the ground.the contact attempted twice more with the same results.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer informed him that the problem was with the hose and the fuel filter.the contact is having the same problem as service bulletin number 040604003.

Fuel leak and strong fuel odor from left rear filler neck area.my vehicle started having this problem a few days ago and a quick internet search turned up lots of other people with the same problem.there is a great risk of fire with potential for injury/death and of course property damage.this vehicle should be recalled asap!email update (february 07, 2007): the leak is from the fuel pump/fuel sender module that enters the tank.an epoxy repair was made.we are in the process of trading this vehicle in.we live in upstate ny where a great deal of salt is used in winter.it seems the design of this tank allows a brine solution to sit in a recess where the fuel pump/sender module lives and corrodes the components.from my internet research i found a lot of people with similar reports of this issue.it is extremely dangerous, especially if the vehicle is garaged.

My 2003 trail blazer checkengine light was on so i took it in to see why it was on.the mechanic replaced the gas cap reset the engine light and sent me off. Two days later, it came back on so i took it back.this time they replaced a solenoid and reset the check engine light.one day later it can back on.tires care plus stated to take it to the chevy dealer because they did not know what to do with it.i took it to the dealer and they stated it was a fuel filter fitting leak and that the entire gas tank and fuel hose needed to be replaced at a cost of $1000.00.i opted not to have it fixed so they sent me home with no warning or further explanation.i went home and did someresearch on the internet about this problem.as it turns out, there have been numerous complaints about the fuel filter filling breaking from the fuel tank.four days later, i went to fill up my car with gas and all the gas ran out of the car all over the pavement.i called the chevy dealer, stated what happened and had it repaired for $1000.00 (the entire gas tank and fuel fitting on a 2003 car!).from what research i have done, the 2002 trailblazer have been recalled but the 2003 have not and chevy has not redesigned the tank.there was a lady that had to replace her tank twice!is this not a hazard?i kept smelling gas outside my car but assumed that it was because i had overfilled the tank.

Gas tank leak on my 2003 trailblazer ext, found a leak from my gas tank.

When filling the gas tank, frequently the pump clicks off and gas surges up the filler neck and flows to the ground.happens at different gas stations and different pumps.

2003 chevy trailblazer ext.service engine light went on about a month ago.service at dealership said we needed a new gas cap.this did not fix the problem.light went back on, took it back this past saturday.was told gooseneck to gas tank is cracked, resulting in a fuel leak (i have an infant).was also told that the trailblazers often come in for that problem, that there was a recall.the dealership wants over $700.00 to replace the tank.we have a new baby and are down to only one household income.i called chevrolet this morning and was told that there is a recall for this exact problem but that my vin is not on their list si i must have "run something over" that cracked the gooseneck.i don't know much about cars but i know something being run over would not make it to the gooseneck.chevy admitted this defect to me- just because my vin did not make their list (allegedly) does not mean that it should not be on it.it would cost them more, in my opinion, in law suits and negative publicity if, god forbid, my family dies in an explosion because this truck blows up in the driveway than it would if they would include my vin on their list and pay for their defect. *ub

My wife and i have been smelling gas outside and with our 2003 chevy trailblazer ext.i brought it to my mechanic and he found a split at the top of the fuel tank (neck filler plate).i called the chevy number and brought the vehicle to croton auto park.they found the same problem and said it would cost my over $750 to replace the tank.i view this issue to be a manufactures defect and escalated the matter to chevy.they are offering a 50% rebate to fix.i don't believe i should pay for this defect.i have researched the issue and found more people that had the same problem with their chevy trailblazer (same model and year).refer to web site:http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-trailblazer/tc82da8f4uejoj6vf/p2#lastpost.i am waiting on chevrolet's decision as to who is going to pay for this.i cannot drive this automobile in its current condition out of extreme fear of fire and explosion!!!!!!!please feel free to call me for more details.

2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext leaking fuel at filler neck/fuel tank. Check engine light continued to come on with variations in duration after reset. Code indicated small fuel leak. Strong odor of fuel surrounding vehicle, and sometimes cameinsideof vehicle after fill up. Finally, discovered leak after completely filling tank and parking on hill. Gas poured out.

I have a 2003 trailblazer ext.just got it from my in-laws, only 21k miles on it.gasoline vents on the ground when filling the tank full.the check engine light remains illuminated.i counted more than 20 complaints just like mine on the nhtsa complaint list.example odi id numbers are 10191706, 10190967, 10188345, 10187405, 10186556, 10185694, 10184336, 10183773, 10182724, 10182384, etc.i assume it is a cracked filler neck.i called gm customer service.they seemed helpful and gave me a case number, but advised me to go to a gm dealer for an official diagnosis before they can proceed with helping me further.no promises at this time.i assume i'll have to pay for the diagnosis.this is a dangerous malfunction, it causes fumes, odors, and puddles of gasoline beneath hot vehicles.

Dt: the contact discovered a small crack along the neck of the gas tank allowing visible leakage when filling up with gasoline or while driving.he took the vehicle to a dealer.the dealer confirmed there was a leak on the filler pipe of the gasoline storage tank assembly.due to the mileage this was not covered under warranty.the dealer did however offer cost assistance by splitting the repair cost.no repairs have been made at this time.updated 11/30/2005 -

- on february 5, 2007 the 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext's service light turned on.the contact took the vehicle to desert pontiac gmc in henderson, nevada.the service mechanic informed the contact that there was a fuel filter cap and fuel filter hose vapor leak, no visible gasoline leaked at this time.the vehicle was out of warranty.the cost of the repair was $900.the contact wanted to file a complaint since there seems to be service bulletin #20050577, and nhtsa items #10141760, #10149536, in which chevrolet acknowledges there is a problem with this vehicle.the current and failure mileage were both 38000 miles.

2003 chevy trailblazer ext. Service engine light went on about a month ago. Service at dealership said we needed a new gas cap. Replaced gas cap and light came back on. Continuous smell of gas within the cabin and outside. Can't fill tank all the way or smell gets wore. Can't park in garage fear of gas build up and explosion.

Fuel filler neck on gas tank on 2003 trailblazer ext with 61000 miles is cracked and leaking gas.plastic fuel tank needs replacement cost close to $1000 to replace tank.researched on internet and found several incidents and similar issues with the plastic fuel tank.

Ses light came on.gas cap replaced.ses light came on again after fill up and 1/4 tank of gas used.clamps tightened on filler tube.ses light came on again after fill up and 1/4 tank of gas used.went to dealer, replace vent valve in filler tube on monday. Tuesday morning filled up with gas. Gas was leaking out on the ground and all over my feet.brought back to dealer, they said the seal on the filler pipe entering the tank had deterioated because of the chemicals in the gasoline, and that was the reason for the break.i do not believe that because the week before the repair i filled the tank & it did not leak, the day after the repair i filled the tank and discovered the hazardous leak.the dealer disclaimed all liability for the broken filler tube at the gas tank. I consider this an extreme safety hazard and the manufacturer should recall all chevrolet trail-blazers with this type of vent and filler tube problem, because when i looked at my tank there was another tank in the garbage pile with the same failure.there was no fire because i exited the site immediately to prevent a spark from igniting the spilled fuel.

My 2003 chevy trailblazer ext, check engine light came on.took it into the dealer and said the code it was putting out was p0440 evap leak small.after further investigation there is a small fracture on the gas tank where the filler neck meets the tank itself.i have read of many similar problems of 2002 and 2003 trailblazers.this seems to be a safety hazard.although they said no fuel was leaking out of ours, it was leaking vapor.vapor seems more dangerous than an actual fuel leak.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated there was a massive fuel leak coming from under the vehicle. The contact noticed the leak as the vehicle was idling. The contact turned the vehicle off and had it towed to the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer but he had not spoken with the dealer to determine the diagnosis of the failure. The manufacturer was notified who advised that when the dealer inspected the vehicle, then they would contact him. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 185,000.the consumer stated the fuel tank, fuel mount, and fuel lines were all replaced for $2000.00. If the vehicle had set on fire it would have exploded under the driver's seat.updated 08/20/2012

I own a 2003 trailblazer and recently i began smelling large amounts of fumes and fuel spilling onto the ground when filliing the gas tank.from my research, i've found that based on the symptoms listed above a manufacturer's defect on the gas tank was honored on the2002 model trailblazer but was not being issued on the same design flaw on the 2003 model.it was stated that this was not a safety hazard which is hard for me to come to terms with.gm has stated that it would cost $1200 to be repaired at the customer's expense which is just unacceptable since this is the same problem carried over from the 2002 model.

When filling the gas tank, frequently the pump clicks off and gas surges up the filler neck and flows to the ground.

Has a bad gas smell leaking gas somewhere

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext. The contact stated that fuel was leaking near the bottom rear of the vehicle. The contact inspected underneath the vehicle and noticed that the check valve was fractured. Joe lunghamer chevrolet (475 summit dr, waterford twp, mi 48328, 1-(248) 683-7100) was notified and stated that the vehicle would need to be diagnosed and there was no fuel system recall. The manufacturer issued extended warranty campaign number: 14423, but they had not provided a recall remedy to prevent the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vehicle was out of warrant. The failure mileage was not available.

The vehcle has avery strong smell of gasoline inside and out and is also starting hard.

Just like so many of the other people who have filed complaints.my truck to has a very strong gas smell.i have been told to replace the cap. I have been told to replace the fuel line or filter. Nothing works.it is puzzling to me that chevrolet is aware of this problem but has not sent out a recall notice to have the problem fixed.this is a very dangerous situation in which i drive my family around and my youngest daughter likes to ride in the very back (third role seating).it is scary to think what could happen.chevrolet needs to fix the problem or a class action lawsuit needs to be started.simple as that.

I have a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.on 03/07/2013 it started to leak fuel while parked in the garage, i took it to beardmore chevrolet in bellevue, nebraska to have it checked out. Service writer told me there have been problems with the fuel tank filler neck cracking and leaking along with thefuel pump leaking and pooling fuel on top of the tank, they informed me that gm had a service letter out that covered full replacement of tank, pump and lines at no charge for 10years or 150,000 miles, i have 81260 miles and an in service date of 03/26/03 so i was 10 days out of warranty on the repair.dealer called gm for me and got approval to repair the trailblazer with me paying 500.00 of the 2200.00 repair.i took the deal as they could have just denied the whole claim.so people if you smell fuel of have a wet fuel tank get it to the dealer asap. Gm helping with the bill is better than nothing. I was also told the new parts were all updated and i should not have the problem again.

Plastic weld connecting fuel fill pipe to fuel tank has cracked.contacted gm about this issue & was informed that this vehicle had just missed the campaign to fix this problem by one month. Why is this campaign (07099) a limited tsb & not a safety recall? vehicle would not pass state emissions inspection. Technician repaired leak with epoxy that sealed long enough to prevent vapor leakage to pass emission test.now that has failed and once again vehicle will not pass emissions. More importantly the fuel vapors emitting from vehicle make it unsafe and impossible to park in an enclosed area.this is not due to a worn part or corrosion, this is due to a faulty design that eventually will cause an explosion.worse yet gm offers no discount on this very expensive tank assembly to correct this problem.i can not think of a more dangerous condition that has been so ignored.perhaps when the fires start there will be another congressional hearing about gm's ability to respond to such a serious and possibly loss of life hazard that they refuse to assist owners in correcting.

The check engine light went on and there was a strong gas odor. Gas had also previously spilled out when fuelung.

Rear driver side door would not latch. No indication that door was opened. I have filed a complaint (odi 10335683) about the passenger door that i repaired previously.this was the exact issue for recall 05007. The vehicle was brought in spring 2006. Obviously g.m.s"fix" is not working. Luckily this time the vehicle was in my driveway.

Three of the four door latching mechanisms had to be replaced in this truck. The doors would look like they closed but they would open as you turned a corner. This occurred twice when i had my kids in the truck, first on the passenger left side then a few months later the passenger right side. I am glad gm didn't screw up the seal belts too. This is dangerous.

My rear passenger door opened while i was driving. The car was recalled in 2006 to supposedly fix this problem. We brought it inthe spring of 2006 as per the recall. If my 9 year old daughter was not buckled in she would have fallen out of the vehicle.the recall was 05007.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.the vehicle was repaired according to a recall, but the failure has recurred.the contact stated that the doors close and open intermittently.in addition, the latch does not lock properly on the rear passenger and driver's side doors, leaving them to remain unsecured.she placed her son in the child seat and closed the door, but it remained open.the contact had to push the door closed several times.four months later, the failure occurred with the other door.the dealer and manufacturer stated that they could not assist.the nhtsa campaign id number was unknown.the failure mileage was 113,000 and current mileage was 120,000.

While changing lanes on the freeway, my tailgate window shattered on my 2003 chevy trailblazer ext. There were no warning signs of this event.there were no chips in the glass, the road was smooth. Since the glass has shattered the tailgate lock mechanism is now malfunctioning as well.

Left rear door opened while making a right hand turn, door failed to latch in closed position after opening. 2003 trailblazer ext.

The outside back door handles do not work properly. During the warranty period, i brought the car back to the dealership where we purchased it, a few times, and they tried to convince me that the child safety locks were engaged. If the child safety locks were engaged, we would not be able to open the doors from the inside. The problem we had then and continue to have is that the outside back door handles do not work. I used to think of it as a mere nuisance until recently.this is a safety issue. I strap young children, in their car seats, into the back seats of that car. In an emergency, theymight not be able to be reached quickly unless my wife or i were there to say that the door handles don't always work and you must open the front doors and reach into the back to the inside door handles to open the doors. Chevrolet has maintained that they work properly. It's kind of ironic, we strap our kids in safety seats to keep them safe, but in an emergency, we might not be able to get to them because the door handles don't work. There is a safety problem here and chevrolet needs to fix it.

Rear door fails to latch closed.

The left rear door fails to latch close.the only way i found to keep the door closed is to operate the inside door release lever many (30-80 times) and try closing the door ever so often.it appears that the door fails to latch most often when it hasn't been used for a couple weeks.i have sprayed lubricating oil/solution into the latching mechanism several times.each time the problem will go away for about a month and then it fails to latch again.i intend on bringing the vehicle to the dealership to see if they can do anything.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.when the contact pulled away from a stop sign and made a right turn, the driver's side door opened on its own.as a result, another vehicle almost struck the door.the contact could not close the door right away because he only has one arm; therefore, the door remained open for approximately 500 feet.the contact had to secure the door with a bungee cord.he took the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic and was charged $105.he was then informed that the repair would cost $600.because he is on disability, he cannot afford to pay for the repairs.the failure affects 3 out of the 4 doors on the vehicle when making right turns.the front and rear driver side doors open and, when making left turns, the rear passenger door opens as well.the current mileage was 83,000 and failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 07/07/08.*ljthe dealer replaced the door actuators. Updated

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.recall# 05v494000 (latches/locks/ linkages:doors:latch).) while driving 15 mph, after the vehicle was repaired the rear passenger door un-latched. He was able to secure the door with a bungee cord. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection and the technician replaced theelectrical latch system at an expense of $800.00. The failure mileage was 52,000. The current mileage was 60,000. Updated 11/04/09.*ljthe consumer stated both doors flew open. The consumer stated the latch system was not replaced and both doors had to be tied shut.gm wanted the consumer to pay $100 so the dealer could tell them what the problem was, and then they would consider paying for the part. Updated 11/05/09

I have a 2003 chevy trail blazer ext. I have had 4 recalls on this vehicle and was watching the local news and heard of the 5th...rear glass hatch window opens when car is in motion even tells me so on my dash. Called gm to see if there was a recall sent out , tech said nothing listed . According to the news report this info came from gm .i feel this is a serious problem and would like to have it resolved.

Lisa was taking kids to school when she noticed problems when stoppinggot to moms house and called shop. On way to shop front differential came apart and took steering and axle with it.

Stopped at a stop light the car would not go forward would go backwards had just had transmission replaced 1 year before only had 79k miles bought the car brand new both driver window motors have gone out seal to front driver door transmission replace pwr steering--rack and pinions and usually have regular check up worst car i have ever bought.

Driving down road on the way to hospital and trailblazer made a loud clunk. Then started making a whirring noise. Finished driving slowly to hospital as not to mess anything else up. Pulled in and parked. Got ready to leave hospital and had no reverse only foward.

I purchased a 2003 trailblazer from an individual. The front differential had a hole in it. So i purchased a differential from a scrap yard. 90 day warranty. Still had a noise . I still had a noisefront differential was out again. I purchased the third differential from a different yard took it apart .found the driver side bearing bad. It seems to be a very common problem because the driver side drivers constant.i was wondering if there is a recall.i see a lot of complaints online.thank youthere was a fire the differential grease burnt bearing went out and chard motor and surrounding area no real damage.

I have replaced the front differential twice in 10 months. I bought new parts for it not used that were redone to get rid of the problems it had now it has gone again. This time i haven't even used the four wheel drive yet since the last repair. I have research it and i noticed a lot of people with the same problem.

The transmission is very sluggish at times.upon entering a highway or pulling out into traffic, the vehicle will periodically take off very slow.in a couple instances we were almost hit by oncoming traffic before the transmission kicked in.upon taking it to the dealer for the fourth time in less than two years, they still insist there is no problem with the vehicle because the on-board computer has not recorded any codes.i'm getting very frustrated by this answer, because i feel the only way they will admit the transmission has a problem is when we are finally involved in an accident, maybe with a fatality. I would rather not get a resolution through this result.

While driving across the williamsburg bridge i suddenly lost the ability to accelerate.the rpm gauge shot to the high end and i had to coast the vehicle off of the bridge.i was towed to the dealership who without looking at it, knew immediately that the transmission had failed.i asked the service technician was this a common problem and he pointed me to edmunds.com to show how many posts there were concerning this problem.the dealership "overhauled" the transmission and told me i should consider a transmission cooler.i've never towed anything with the vehicle and am concerned that i am about to experience the same problem, except this time my warranty is expired.

My chevrolet trailblazer ext, that i purchased 4 1/2 years ago and it has 44,000 miles on it, has a transmission problem.the chevrolet dealership tells me that it is a 2000 fix.i am angry and disappointed that a vehicle with relatively few miles on it is having such a major problem.

My 03 ext first transmission went out with just over 65k and then 16mo. Later at 80k went out again.no help from gm.i have owned a 99 blazer and 02 trailblazer with no real issues however this 03 has had numerous from cracked gas tank to catalytic converter going out as well as now having loud engine noise!

2003 trailblazer transmission gone bad (@63,000miles) while driving. Car stalled in the middle of the street, lucky no other car was behind.

Front end loose, ball joints needed replacement.driver side seatbelt defective/twisted. Rotors warped needed repalcement.outside door handle does not open door.dirver side mirror moves around (programed) without notice. Transmission engages rough, feels like it slipping. Tailgate out of allignment, rear seatbelt defective needed replacement, 4wd locked up in parking lot, front end has scraping noises when turning, heated seats not working, irratic, tailgate panel falls off, driver seat frame broken needed replacement, electrical system irratic.

Transmission cooling line corrosion and leak.

I was driving home to texas from a vacation to visit family in oklahoma.all of a sudden without warning vehicle's transmission got stuck in 3rd gear.then the transmission failed altogether.vehicle left me stranded in the middle of nowhere with my four children.they are telling me that there are alot of problems with the trailblazer transmissions.

Traveling up a draw bridge at 50 miles per hour the transmission quit completely, the engine would rev up but no drive from the transmission.fortunately, no one rear ended the vehicle as we slowed down and barely made it over the top of the bridge and then coasted down enough to get off of the bridge.the vehicle was towed to a dealer and they determined that the transmission must be completely replaced at my cost.the vehicle has 64,000 miles, too few for a transmission failure.

While driving on a interstate at highway speed. My vehicle had a sudden decrease in forward momentum. The engine rpm's increased dramatically and the vehicle had unpredictable surges and loss of ability to maintain speed. After driving down the berm to the interstate exit, i noted a burning smell. The smell was that of transmission fluid that had leaked out from a corroded transmission cooling line.

The incident occurred while driving home after dropping my son off at work on i-95.i was traveling between 65 and 70 mph and passing a semi when my vehicle suddenly and with no prior warning shifted into second gear.luckily i was able to maintain control of my car and able to drive it the rest of the way home.on monday i drove my vehicle as instructed to the mj sullivans, the dealership in which i bought the trailblazer, for service.i was then notified that the stator support bushings in the transmission failed and that it would actually be cheaper to replace the transmission.interestingly, the new transmission comes with a 10yr/100k mile warranty and my vehicle has only 69000 miles of highway miles.asked the service engineer about how unusual this type of failure is and they told me highly considering the wear on other parts in the transmission.we do not tow or have hills in our area and for the most part only travel on the highway so i would not suspect that we would be putting a high level of wear and tear on it.we had the transmission replaced.

The automobile starts out in 2nd gear and at highway speed the transmission hunts for the correct gear shifting back and forth.

This vehicle is 4 months old and just rolled over to 7000 miles. It is in the shop currently for the sixth time and has now been out of commission for over 30 days. It has had multiple transmission problems; valve body twice, torque converter, shift solenoid, btsi solenoid, floor shifter (with console) all had to be replaced. It is in the shop now for the 4 wheel drive for the second time; 1st time to repair problem i was having and repaired per service bulletin. Obviously that did not repair the problem as i just had the same problem again. The 4wd indicator light comes on and the truck will not go out of a4wd unless i shut the truck off and restart. The dealer just called and said they have to replace the control motor ? that goes to the transfer case. I am mechanically challenged and do not know what most of these componets are. The shocks had to be replaced as they were leaking at 6000 miles.the exhaust shields had to be re-aligned as they were rattling on acceleration.spoke to chevy representative, they said they can do nothing about replacing this vehicle as it is under warrany and i will just have to keep taking it back for repairs. They offered free oil changes and tire rotations for a year. I told them that was an insult and that this is not the last time that they will hear from me. I am filing under lemon law with an attorney as i do not believe i will get very far on my own. The dealer has been great, it breaks they fix it and it breaks agian and they fix it, that's all that they can do. My problem lies with chevrolet/general motors and this truck that i believe was put on the market with design flaws.

I bought a used 2003 trailblazer.i took it in because it was having issues with the engine light coming on.the engine light no longer comes on but the problem has gotten worse.the transmission slips constantly,i have only had this vehicle for 4 months. I am afraid this is going to happen when i am in the middle of traffic and my children and i will be in serious trouble.

No warning lights, no warning sounds.while crossing an intersection, transmission went out.0 forward gears, reverse works.vehicle just reached 82,000 miles.serviced regularly.

2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext, failure of transmission fluid cooling lines due to corrosion.loss of transmission fluid and possibletransmission failure due to loss. Replace all transmission cooling lines (4 sections).

Transmission went out at 63,000 miles -- clutch fan went out along with transmission. No warning -- nothing. This seems to be a common problem with trailblazers.gm should order a recall --overall expense is over $2000.00

Automatic transmission fails to shift into second.loud revving noise, failure to shift.

Transmission lines rotted out. Lost fluid and tranny went south!. 1400 for repairs!. Thanks alot gm. Junk!

I own a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext with 4wd.on several occasions the vehicle has rolled away while in park.also, the vehicle on 2 separate occasions went forward when the gear select was in reverse.finally, on 4 occasions the vehicle put itself in neutral.twice at speed and twice while waiting at traffic lights.this vehicle nearly ran over my 3-year-old child and the dealer claims all of these instances have been driver error.i've had it with gm and their unwillingness to see any urgency with this huge safety related issue.

Driving on vacation towing camper. Tried to accelerate and nothing. Got to gas station. No trans fluid. Got it to dealership . They said trans blown due to water in trans. Dipstick rusted inhalf. Leak with hose caused problem. Got fixed gm only paid 1/2 because we fought. Had extended warranty they said manufacturer defect. Found service bulletin on internet. Still fighting to get our money back .only 51,000 miles.

We have a 2003 chevy trailblazer and have had nothing but problems with it since we bought it brand-new.it was back in the shop within 2 months of purchasing it due to needing the entire fuse box replaced. It has been back in for repairs numerous times for engine failure and problems with the gauges. We have had the entire speedometer panel replaced at our expense and spent $1200 on repairs related to the transmission.we returned it to the dealer 2 months later due to the exact same difficulties with the engine stalling and they told us the computer needed to be reprogrammed. We paid for that and not one week later the vehicle is continuing to stall on us. It has been extremely dangerous and in at least once circumstance has almost caused an accident.this vehicle is unsafe to drive.the engine has quit on us on at least 12 different occasions within the last 2 months, despite being in for repairs twice for the same issue. We are extremely disappointed in this vehicle and are saddened by the fact that we have spent so much money and to no avail.we have since learned that many, many other people are experiencing the same trouble.we are taking it back to the dealer tomorrow and trading it in.we need something that is reliable and safe out on the roads.and this vehicle is definitely not safe.

The transmission cooling lines corroded which caused the transmission fluid to leak out while on a 20 mile round trip from our house. The truck started to run rough as we pulled in the driveway and there it died.i had it towed to a local transmission repair shop where they confirmed the transmission was dead, rebuild or replace.i paid to tow it to the gm dealership where i bought the truck and they confirmed the tranny was dead. Aluminum cooling lines rotted out, drained the fluid and theunit fried. There are no warning lights or monitoring of this fluid level per gm.this truck had been serviced by this dealership. The service mechanic told me that this is not a common occurrence but this is not rare either. He said gm will not help with the repairs and he was right. I had the local tranney shop do the repairs for 2500.00, less than gm's 4500.00.there have been many problems with this truck, i will do another report regarding the failed door latches, and i gave gm the time to repair their problems and then they tell you to "stuff it" when their bad designs get real costly. Last gm in my driveway.

2003 trailblazer transmission failure. Driving in the neighborhood (25 mph) heard a load clunk ( like something either hit or fell of the vehicle), then a high pitched whining sound, got the vehicle home (11pm). In the morning, to take the vehicle to be looked at found that i had no reverse, had to push it out of the garage. I have a extended warranty, but have given firestone permission to replace with a rebuild unit from gm. I do not know what my warranty will cover, but believe that gm should foot the bill, since this had been a reported problem for this transmission for years.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph. The vehicle completely stopped. The tachometer began to rise but the vehicle would not move forward or reverse. He took the vehicle to a repair shop and was told that the sun gear failed and the entire transmission needed to be replaced. He called the dealer and was told that they could not offer any assistance. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was being repaired at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were 65,828.

Transmission fluid leak caused by corrosion similar to tsb #pit-4722.fluid seen on driveway when car parked. Fluid on undercarriage.transmission oil coolant lines will have to be replaced at approximately $500 cost. Design issue for part to corrode after only 6 years.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext. While the contact was driving approximately 20 mph, the steering wheel became stiff and extremely difficult to maneuver. The transmission lines leaked an excessive amount of fluid. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the power steering and transmission lines were replaced at different times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000. Updated 07/08/11*ljthe power steering lines rotted and leaked fluid excessively. Thelines were replaced at a cost of $1,000. The transmission lines rotted and leaked fluid and also had to be replaced at a cost of $350.00. Updated 08/31/11.

Trans coolant lines rubbed against cat converter, causing leaks.4 - 4.5 qts of trans fluid leaked out.trans overheated and failed on the highway, causing vehicle to stop in an unsafe location.transmission had to be replaced.

Dt*: the contact stated the gear shift locked in the park position without warning on three occasions within the last year.the vehicle was towed to the dealer who made unknown repairs to the gear shift.the vehicle is currently at the dealer awaiting a third repair.

2003 chevy trailblazer ext transmission problems:transmission shifted very hard from 1st to 2nd gear and 2nd to 3rd gear after vehicle had been driven for about 1 hour.this occurred several times over the course of a month.finally, the "service engine soon" light came on during about the 4th occurrence.called onstar and they stated that there was a powertrain/transmission problem that should be addressed soon.took vehicle to several transmission shops and was told that the code was an 1870 "general transmission slippage" code.transmission shop indicated that the problem is a result of a torque converter failure.transmission is now being replaced at a transmission shop with cost of approximately $2900.vehicle has just under 60,000 miles.it is my intense feeling that this type of replacement should not be necessary on a $38,000 vehicle with this low of miles.

While putting the vehicle in 4-wheel drive itbegan to accelerate. Vehicle ran into a guard rail and rolled down into a ditch. Owner contacted the dealer, who said it was the fault of the driver.later, dealer contacted the owner, and informed him that the 4-wheel drive key was broken.

Passenger side upper ball joint came out causing the lower ball joint to also come out resulting in a cut abs sensor wire and a bent strut and finally a axle that ripped out of the transfer case which destroyed the case cover.

Front passenger seat belt locks up and you are sometimes unable to use it.this had been happening more and more. At first you could keep moving it back and forth and it would immediately come loose but as time goes by, it is getting harder to get the seat belt to come loose.

The passengers side seat belt locked up and would not come out at all rendering it completely useless. We took the car to a chevy dealer as we were told that because the seat belt is a safety issue it should be covered, however we were told it is not covered and given an estimate of almost $300 to repair it.

Front end loose, ball joints needed replacement.driver side seatbelt defective/twisted. Rotors warped needed repalcement.outside door handle does not open door.dirver side mirror moves around (programed) without notice. Transmission engages rough, feels like it slipping. Tailgate out of allignment, rear seatbelt defective needed replacement, 4wd locked up in parking lot, front end has scraping noises when turning, heated seats not working, irratic, tailgate panel falls off, driver seat frame broken needed replacement, electrical system irratic.

Driver side seat detached from seat frame recently.i turned towards the back of my chevy trailblazer ext to talk to my kids and the right side of the drivers seat broke from the seat frame.upon inspection, there's a flimsy piece of metal holding the seat to the seat frame.when i brought it in to the service dealer, he said the whole seat needs to be replaced at a cost of over $800. He said i can call gm to report the issue and that they may offer me a deal to split the cost since the vehicle is out of warranty.i believe this is a manufacturer's defect because it has never happened before in any car that i've owned in the past.waiting resolution to my complaint from gm, but this is condition may lead to future accidents!!

Power seat on driver's side has stopped working. I am told this is either a software update/upgrade or a repair depending on who you talk to. If the dealer is willing to work with you and not take advantage of you they will do the software upgrade. If not willing to work with you they will sell you a new seat motor and charge you at least $400.00 for installation.

In november of 2005 i was driving along when for no reason i felt a burning on the inside of my left thigh. It got so hot it i almost lost control of the truck. I had to pull over to find out that it was my heated seat that had just burned out and does nt work anymore. At that point i just figured it was just another thing that broke, but on 2/2/06 a person i work with just told me she had the exact same problem and almost lost control of her vehicle. She has a 2004 buick rainier which is almost the same as my 2003 chevy trailblazer. At this point i felt this was a real safety issue and needs to be look into and that's why i am asking for your help in this matter.

My wife and five children traveling on i-94 e and exited the freeway at the 12 mile exit in roseville mi.my wife attempted to brake as they approached the red traffic signal on the 12 mile exit ramp and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor without warning.she was unable to stop the vehicle and proceeded through the red light narrowly missing a high speed collision with both east and west bound traffic on 12-mile road.she continued through the intersection on the red light and was able to stop the suv several hundred yards down the service drive. She slowly drove the vehicle home and i checked the brakes and the pedal went straight to the floor with no brake warning or any other indicators on the dash.i pumped the brakes several times and couldn't even hold the vehicle while idling in the drive position.i also noticed a large puddle of fluid under the driver's side of the vehicle.i'm going to limp the vehicle to moran chevrolet in clinton township, mi and leave it with those that sold me this deathtrap.another and perhaps even greater safety concern i have is the suv's tendency to misbehave while in awd mode.the vehicle sometimes goes in reverse while drive is selected and vice versa.additionally, the vehicle will sometimes put itself in neutral while engaged in drive mode or while stopped at traffic signals.oh and last week i replaced the windshield wiper assembly after it failed and found no evidence that gm had completed the related recall work that signed off as being complete for the windshield motor and linkage assembly.i see i'm not alone in having suffered catastrophic safety related failures with this particular suv.please take notice and force gm to recall to fix this corrosion issue with the brake system.i almost lost my family last evening and will assume it would have made national news had they died in an accident.

The abs light has come on and then it would work sometimes and not other times. Now it never works. Now that its winter i'm sliding at stop signs that aren't even that slippery.the actuators in the heating and cooling are not working properly.all summer i had heat blowing all the timeand suddenly there would be nothing. Now it's cold air all the time. Makes my windows fog up and not defrost. I have done the reset procedure and hear things moving but it doesn't fix it.the blower in the ball seat and third row is hit or miss for even working at all.

Without any squealing in the days and weeks before the brake failure, as i would expect from deteriorating brakes, the brakes on my 2003 trailblazer ext failed. Fortunately, the metal to metal sound heard on feb. 4, 2005, alerted my wife to call our local chevy service center. At the time of the failure, this car had 29,000 miles on it. Not only did the dealer find the left front brake digging into the rotor surface, but they found the rear brakes worn low and the emergency brake portion of the rotor rotted. At 29,000 miles, total brake overhaul should not occur. Why had the emrgency brake portion of the rotor rotted? when my wife called the 800 number to report this to chevrolet, lisa koine, chevy's representative, called the dealer to find out what the problem was. After speaking with the service people at brady-stannard in brewsete, ny, she returned our call and told us the brake failure was due to normal wear and tear. Give me a break.since when do consumers have to pay #1276.79 for acomplete brake overhaul at 29,000 miles? several weeks later, i noticed the left side rotors had rusted. I called the dealer and took the car in for inspection. The dealer stated that this is normal. I question this.i owned an isuzu trooper prior to this car, and the brakes were not replaced until 92,000 miles. What kind of inferior parts is chevrolet using?

Inner calipers of front brakes locked causing premature wear out of inner pad and irreparable damage to front rotors.

The brakes o my 2003 ext. Trailblazer are mushy. When stopped in traffic and constant pressure is held on the brake pedal the pedal continues to go toward the floor. I was shown another ext. Trailblazer at the dealers that had brakes acting the same way and i was told it is normal. I have had several suv's and never experienced this type of brake performance before. In close traffic, i have put the transmission in park due to the feeling that i am going to run out of pedal travel.

My front brakes had to be replaced after 24,000 miles.i have had other suv and this seems like inferior products are being used.the dealer had to turn rotors and also replace a torsion bar.i do not drive this vehicle for work,i have a company car and the brakes were replaced on it at almost 45,000 miles.

Dt: the consumer owned 2003 chevy trailblazer and was having rotor problems. The vehicle has 33,000 miles on it. The rotors were pitted and warped on the inside . The total cost was $838.00 to replace themt. Brake pads were replaced along with the rotors. The brakes were squeaking and vibrating when to trying to come to a stop. Talso, he brakessqueaked in reverse. T owner took the vehicle to an independent repair shop. The vehicle has now been repaired by the mechanic.the owner ha not called the dealership, but the owner knew that the warranty expired.

Driving approx 70mph on the highway, suddenly heard a "whap whap whap" noise coming from the back of the vehicle.i slowed down, and the sound diminished.arriving home, i found that the center brake light assembly had come loose at both ends.the two center connections luckily held, or else the piece would have come off the car and possibly caused an accident.i have read that other trailblazers have had the same issue.

Thelines were replaced at a cost of $1,000. The transmission lines rotted and leaked fluid and also had to be replaced at a cost of $350.00. Updated 08/31/11.

Lisa was taking kids to school when she noticed problems when stoppinggot to moms house and called shop. On way to shop front differential came apart and took steering and axle with it.

This vehicle had about 21,000 miles on it when the power steering pump started squealing when warm and turning.the dealer i had it replaced at told me that normally they get these vehicles in to replace the pump when it totally breaks and strands someone on the road without the ability to steer their vehicle.at 28,000 miles, the new pump is making the exact same noise and i am taking it in again to have it replaced.my concern is, what will happen to my vehicle's steering if it breaks and i ( or my wife ) am driving the vehicle.i am afraid that i will not be able to contol the vehicle.obviously there is a mechanical problem with vehicle ( a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext ) as car and driver magazine had published a long term review of this vehicle in their december 2003 issue with their test vehicle requiring 3 new power steering pumps in 40,000 miles.so far there appears to be no real ling term fix to this problem, and i am afraid that i may lose control of my vehicle if this component fails.

My 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext has had a power steering problem starting around 15k miles. The power steering goes in and out with no warnings. When i have noticed this, the problem goes away if you push the gas pedal to speed up, but if you do not the power steering goes completely out. I have had several close calls while i would be turning into a parking space and the steering would go out. You do still have control of the steering but it is extremely hard to turn the wheel. I have several friends and neighbors with the same style truck and they all have experienced a problem as well. I find it hard to believe that this problem has not been a huge issue. My dealer, which is very good, has not received any notification about this being an issues from the manufacturing, even after they have receive several complaints themselves on this issue.

Back passenger door latch is broken..

I was going out to my suv which is a 2003 chevy trailblazer ext to open the back it was cold outside but no ice was visible on my truck or anything i heard a crack i though it was ice even though i didn't see anything but noticed my tail light cover on top looked broke so took it to local chevrolet dealership to get checked they said yes it is cracked it will cost you 1800 dollars to fix i did not have that kind of money for a little piece but guy said you will be fine as long as the liftgate lifts which it did it seemed fine then on the way to our destination one day on a major highway the piece flew half way off flapping behind us freaking out we pulled over to the side we had to rip it off no choice or we were stuck their and the piece would of flew off and caused a major accident. Well it is still off until it gets repaired but this just in the last weeki seen 2 more trailblazer ext with the same piece missing just in my small town of pottsville which had me thinking there is something wrong. But what concerned me the most was the third trailblazer ext in a wal-mart parking lot with the piece broke but still attached.that personprobably has no idea that the piece will probably fall off will on the highway which could cause a major accident. I did talk to the lady down the street from me which was one of the trailblazers i seen and ask she said the same thing that it cracked when opening then took it to shop they said your lucky this piece could have flew off while driving. So please investigate the 2003-2006 chevrolet trailblazer ext.

The roof rack to my 2003 chevrolet trailblazer blew off while driving home from the shore on the atlantic city expressway.there was no prior damage or accident to the vehicle to cause such aproblem. We were informed that our car was not the first case.the dealer did fix the roof rack but i'm concerned that it will happen again if no adjustments are made to the design.there is aglue strip that holds the bottom portion in place.this is an accident waiting to happen.

High mount rear stop tail lamp assembly is loose. Opened the tailgate on 5/11/09 heard metal crunching. Ever since my back glass vibrates violently when going down the highway, increasing the possibility of it blowing out. On 5/17/09 after further investigation noticed that the top assembly has broken away from the truck on both sides (still being held on by the center) should this come off it puts me and drivers behind me at risk of an accident. This problem puts my children at risk of glass shattering on them or being involved in an accident. This is my only vehicle and i have no choice but to drive it until it goes to the shop this week. I have read several complaints about this online.

The rear windshield came unhinged from the rear door.

The rear window in the gate on my 2003 trailblazer has become disconnected on one side at the hinge.it appears to be a defect with the way it is adhered (via some sort of glue) as there is no damage to the area itself.as my vehicle is an ext model, it has a section across the very top that is also simply glued to the body which holds the centrally mounted brake light.i've noticed since purchasing the vehicle last year that this section with the brake light comes in contact with the roof when you open the main gate & seems really loose hot weather.today, when i opened the rear latch/gate i heard an unusual sound and when i closed the gate & inspected it i noted that the window portion appeared skewed.upon further examination of the window area i discovered that the passenger-side window hinge had separated from the gate & was no longer forming a seal.as there was no physical damage to the area (the hinge simply lifted right away from the area it was glued to), one would assume that this must a defect in assembly & may affect similar vehicles. If the other hinge were to also separate the entire glass assembly would no longer be attached to the vehicle which could result in causing a collision or other incident to vehicles following the affected vehicle. Obviously, other damage caused by rain/elements would also be a concern with the lack of proper seal between the window & the rear gate.

Design flaw of the center high mounted stop lamp applique (aka - rear upper liftgate molding)during the winter months, ice and snow builds up behind the molding, and when the user attempts to open the liftgate, the molding is separated from the vehicle, sometimes results in permanent breakage of the molding, or even shattering of the rear window. This is a problem that the company is already aware of, as evidenced by a released tsb.as evidenced by numerous reports on "trailvoy.com", many group members have reported having this exact problem.i have read reports of this piece mysteriously coming off, to the surprise of the driver, while driving on the road.it seems that when this vehicle was designed, too much of the liftgate's structure was left to rely on the stability of plastic and glass.for instance, on my vehicle, after breakage of the molding, the force exerted by the glass lift arms caused the adhesive to separate from the windows hinge, leaving it "dangling by a thread".i feel that this a problem that has occurred in too many cases; a problem that could potentially cause safety issues while driving on the road.it is an expensive part to replace ($700-$1000, with labor).chevrolet has since redesigned the trailblazer vehicles to take care of this problem.i feel that chevrolet should be held responsible to correct their design error on the older vehicles, instead of leaving it up to the consumer to pay for it out of their own pocket.

Chevrolet trailblazer ext was towed from highway due to a ruptured transmission line.tow truck driver towed vehicle from the rear wheels.upon delivering vehicle to repair shop, the entire upper hatch trim molding (high mount brake light cover) piece and the high mount brake light assembly was missing with only the two wires dangling.upon inspection, the piece is only held on the vehicle by 2 bolts and double sided tape.the double sided tape on the rear glass was dry and crumbling (completely ineffective).since the vehicle was traveling backwards behind the tow truck, the piece was not able to withstand the force of wind which pushed the piece upward until it ultimately cracked and broke off the vehicle.there have been many reports of this piece falling off from trailblazer models going forward and gm has done nothing to redesign or fix the problem.a large plastic piece such as that should not use 2 bolts and double sided tape as a primary means of attachment.at a minimum, a safety notice should be sent that towing a trailblazer from the rear at high speeds may result in this piece breaking off, posing a real safety concern (flying highway debris) to the following vehicle(s).parts are falling off vehicles and no one but the disgruntled owners seem to care.

The rear bumper of my 2003 chevy trailblazer cracked duing an impact of less than 5mph. Gm told me that this isn't a problem, and this might happen. I thought they named this a bumper because it was there to withstand some kind of impact.

Dt*: the contact stated, while driving or parked, the vehicle leaks water from rain and puddles on the roadinto the interior of the vehicle. The first leak entered through the left rear door. While the second leak entered from the left rear wheel fender shielding. The water from the leaks caused mold in the carpeting of the vehicle. The manufacturer determined the vehicle was beyond the warranty limitations. The dealer offered torepair and replace the carpeting at the owner's expense.

Front end loose, ball joints needed replacement.driver side seatbelt defective/twisted. Rotors warped needed repalcement.outside door handle does not open door.dirver side mirror moves around (programed) without notice. Transmission engages rough, feels like it slipping. Tailgate out of allignment, rear seatbelt defective needed replacement, 4wd locked up in parking lot, front end has scraping noises when turning, heated seats not working, irratic, tailgate panel falls off, driver seat frame broken needed replacement, electrical system irratic.

The rear tail gate has separatedfrom the top there is a huge gapnow between the roof and the upperplastic piece - big enough thatwhen the door is closed i can fitmy entire hand between what issupposed to be the seal. I waslooking into it and found out thatthis has happened to a lot oftrail blazers and envoys. I have no idea of how it even happened.when i contacted gm about the problem they advise that the problem is not covered.

Awful, awful safety hazard on my 2003 trailblazer!!!!!the hatch back/lift gate won't open - tailgate window explodes in the mechanics face knocking him to the ground.representativesfrom gm and from the dealership deny that this has happened in any other 2003 trailblazers.that is a lie!!!! see other complaints on this very website.complaint #10121982, also complaint #10150063, and complaint #10075392.then check out complaint #10038988, #10075392 and #10061979 regarding the hatchback tailgate breakdowns.complaint #10121982 tells of a child that is injured by the exploding glass in the tailgate.remember the double sided tape that the dealership tells me that gm uses to hold on the high mount stop light and trim???in complaint #10038988 the complainant was also told about the double sided tape.are you investigating this problem?????i am driving a very unsafe car and i will fight until i get some action.i have been without a car now for 10 days.the dealership insisted that we turn this claim into my insurance.$2,650 claim for what the dealership said would cost $25.the dealers body shop also explained that the high mount stop light and trim are attached with double face tape and if they come loose they bind inside the hatchback. I don't feel it is my insurance company's responsibility to pay for something the dealer caused.this is a very dangerous problem created by cheverolet's poor design. Why haven't they done a recall on this. There are numerous other complaints about the same hatchback failure. The glass could explode on me on my grandkids or another mechanic. I will be nervous everytime i open that hatchback and i will never, never buy a general motors car again. The dealership treated my husband and i terribly. They knew they had the upper hand in the situation and they knew there was nothing we could do.

Front end noises. Squeaks and pops from suspension.

Dt:the contact stated when turning a corner or driving over a bump heard a loud noise.it sounded as though metal was rubbing together.thishappenedwhen she drove the vehicle off of the lot.the vehicle has been to the dealership multiple times.theyreplaced the front suspension sway bar and front control arm six times, and had to be replaced every six months or 3,000 miles.the vehicle was still experiencing the same problems. Updated 12/27/2005.

Contact states:left and right lower control arm failed and vehiclemakes a noise whencoming to a stop or making a right turn. Contact says that 2002 chevrolet, trailblazer was recalled for the same problem that he is having.

While driving at 60 mph, the consumer felt a strange wobble sensation in the front left side of the vehicle.the consumer stopped the vehicle and checked the tire on that side .several miles down the road the wheels on the vehicle locked up.the vehicle skidded across three lanes of traffic before coming to a stop.the dealer examined the vehicle and replaced the wheel bearing on the left side.four weeks later the exact same thing happened on the right side of the vehicle.the right sidewheel bearings needed to be replaced.

Speedometer sticks at varying locations does not display accurate speed.

While changing lanes on the freeway, my tailgate window shattered on my 2003 chevy trailblazer ext. There were no warning signs of this event.there were no chips in the glass, the road was smooth. Since the glass has shattered the tailgate lock mechanism is now malfunctioning as well.

I was at work on 8-18-2011 when co workers asked me if i had a black chevy trailblazerbecause someone saw my rear window explode. I went outside and there was glass all over the ground outside and my window was broken in little pieces. I came home and searched the web for similar problems. I found this had happened to other people and there was a number to contact the manufacturer. I called them but they told me there aren't any open recalls pertaining to this type of problem.

It takes 3 times longer for the rear heating system to blow "warm" air then the system in the front. I have taken it to the dealer 3 times and still have the same problem. The last time i was told that "engineering" was notified of the situation.

My speedometer in my 2003 chevrolet trailblazer stopped working, all the other instruments work.this is not safe.i did some research and found that a number of complaints have been filed on this very issue.gm should replace this part. It appears they knew there was a problem.

2003 chevy trailblazer ext. Speedometer has malfunction continuously for the last 4 years. Very dangerous. Company (gm) says it is not dangerous and they do not have enough complaints. Thousands on the internet.

While driving, my speedometer stopped working completely.i have had it checked by both a gm dealer and an independent repair shop.i was told the entire "cluster" would have to be replaced.i was also told that there are many of these problems and that there is a 2-3 week delay in getting the part shipped.i was also told it would cost about $400 to get it fixed.my car is a 2003 and has about 81,000 miles on it.a speedometer is not like an alignment, wear and tear item, or neglect of having it serviced.it is obviously a safety concern because of speed, the inability to get the part in a timely manner and the unwillingness of gm to cover the repair.

When driving for 30 to 45 mins all the instruments on dash start sticking and reading wrong information. In the picture my car is parked .

I was driving to work when all of a sudden i realize that my speed odometer wasn't working and i had to push the brakes because it felt that i was going to fast and the speed limit was 35 however my speed odometer was stuck on 10mph.... But it was probably going at about 55 mph...

2003 trail blazer windshield wipers do not stop even when shut off. *dt

Windshield loosens from seal , had replaced 1 time and now needs to be replaced again soon.

After extended driving of my 2003 chevy trailblazer lt ext, my heat (auto. Dual climate control) begins to blow cold air, and during the summer it blows hot air.

On april 29, 2007, while my wife and children were preparing to go out to the store, the rear window on my 2003 chevrolet trailblazer shattered. No one was in the car at the time and there is no apparent cause for this event. Glass from the window went everywhere and even struck my 6 year old son in the leg. I have reported this to my insurance company and replacement of the window will occur on 5/2/07.

Shattered rear window of 2003 chevrolet trailblazer ext.while driving on a local street the rear window imploded from no outside force filling the cargo area with glass.

Dt: last year the front windshield cracked, then last week the car was in the driveway and the driver's side back door window completely exploded from the inside out when no one was in the car. The chevrolet file #1329931557. A separate paint claim #5858627-01. The consuemr believes the glass on the car is faulty. The temperature was in the 40's.

Driver/passenger electric window malfunctions in that window will fall/lower itself.dealer stated the electric regulators that aid/assist the window in raising/lowering continue to malfunction.

You start to hear a noise when the window is being put up or down, then eventually the mechanics of the window break and the window falls into the socket and will not go up or down.two of my windows needed to be repaired, costing me several hundreds of dollars later.same situation in two of my friends cars. Same make and model.

Right passenger window was rolled down and then would not come up.window glass was loose would not stay up.took to dealer.window regulator replaced for a total of $350.00.

The contact owns a 2003 chevrolet trail blazer ext. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the front driver side window failed. The contact stated that she tried to roll the window down but it failed. The contact let the vehicle sit for a few hours and the windows began to work. The failure recurred a few times after. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included on any recalls. The failure mileage was 193,843.

Drivers side front window falls down without warning, into the door.will not roll up into the fully closed position when electric window switch is activated.must manually push the glass into the fully closed position, however, as stated above, it will fall without warning.this creates a serious hazard in that when the window falls without warning, not only can the driver be startled and make a driving error, but also, given the exterior conditions, create a very unsafe driving / operational environment which could result in a crash.

Dt*:the contact stated when the rear right automatic window was opened, there was a groaning noise, followed closely by the window sliding open without warning.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where it was determined that the window motor needed replacement.

The rear left passenger window began to grind when letting it up and down then it quit working.the right front passenger began to do the same thing soon after.the windows currently have a suction cup holding them up.

The rear windshield came unhinged from the rear door.
