In my 2000 tracker i had a defective clock spring, which would cause the failure of the airbags. I had it recently repaired at the dealer and now see if it was a dodge it would have been repaired as a safety recall how come my vehicle is not considered a safety problem and i had to pay $371.00 to the dealer for the same repair as the dodge vehicles.
While driving 30 mph in the rain,(without accelerating) the back end of the car swept out to the left, lost control of the steering and when it hit the grass and mud on the side of the road, the car flipped over onto the drivers side and completely totaled the car. No air bags were employed.
Brakes failed causing collision, air bags experienced no deployment in the accident.
Dt*: the contact stated while driving 30 mph on a gravel road, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and the brakes did not work.the vehicle flipped three times and the air bags did not deploy.there were not warning signals prior to the accident.the police department was contacted, and a report was taken.the police determined a dip in the road caused the vehicle to overturned.the contact sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital.the vehicle was deemed a total loss and was towed to a junk yard.

The key would not release from the ignition, it was stuck.i contacted the dealer, they also could not get the key out either. Had to replace the key lock.ihope that something can and will be done about this. Dealer told me that they have worked on other trackers with the same problem. Hope this will help bring a recall on this problem.
2000 chevrolet tracker suv, have had problems since day one with key being stuck in ignition.you can put it in 4-wd /reverse and the key will come out. Also, this vehicle is very unstable when going onto a ramp of a freeway if there is any curve in the ramp whatsover.
Key does not release from ignition. It turns the engine off but will not go into the lock position without quite a bit of wiggling back and forth.it started out every once in awhile and now it is every single time we try to turn the key off and take the key out.i took the tracker to a lock smith thinking it was just the key or the hole the key goes in and he informed me that chevy had sent him quite a few trackers and geo's to fix this problem.i think this should be a recall item as, if the key fails to come out then the car is accessible to anyone that passes by it. It will be stolen.this is something that i am reading about with other trackers and i think it should be taken care of by the dealer, it is a defect.
Ignition switch /key won't turn off and take key out / turn to acc/on/startfine then turn back to acc and stuck there won't go all way to lock where key to enter and outthat area problem.

I bought the chevrolet tracker as a used car from freeman toyota the car had 33817 miles we had till 36000 an the warranty would be up that went really fast, needless to say it seems right after that i have acquired a high squeal coming from it seems the belts or maybe the pulleys we have use a cyclon spay that wassuggested it goes away fro a few days an comes back again i have driven my car now has the miles of 47082, a car of less than 50000 should still run quietly and have no loud squeals as you drive. As to the windshield wiper system, the little black washer nolds on the hood you cannot clean them, hours of taking apart from the hood insideblowing and soaking them and 2 weeks later plugged again, since i donot have a warranty the chevrolet places in this area want $70.00,just to look at the car , i feel this is very unfair and the bookby [xxx] says you might can find a secret warranty that covers the pulley's from the air conditioner or the belt system because that just about is want helps the car goif one breaks it will not work. I would also like to know if there was any accidents with this car because there was not any bolts holding the back bumpers and front bumper and front outside panel onto the main part of the car the car company said they rattled out, needless to say on that one i fussed tell they placed at least 5 bolts in back and on the shirt of the car at least 6, ( 3 on each side an on the front area at least 6 across the top, that is a really not very good in my estimation, it a bad job of the 200, something check points that they go thru on your new-used car. Thank you very much for your time, i hope there is something you might can help me out with, again thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Along with many other people who we've been talking to about this same problem on carspace.com.the crossmember on my chevy tracker rusted to shreds due to thin metal and lack of 4 drain holes. The new crossmember that was put on my car has 4 drain holes to allow the water to escape. Some trackers have drain holes. We spent $1000 getting this fixed when it looks like someone went on a smoke break during an assembly line at the chevy plant. This is a dangerous mistake that chevy is blowing off as trivial. Something needs to be done. We take great care of our tracker and it's in great condition. It was unexpected to put $1000 in to a car that otherwise runs great that shouldn't have even happened in the first place. What i experienced on the road because of this rusted piece of metal giving so quickly was very scary! i could have killed someone going 65 mph down the freeway had i not gotten it in right away. They determined it unsafe to drive until it was replaced and shocked at what they saw under my car! this was a stupid error that needs looked in to. The part needs to be recalled and people compensated.

They are telling me that the vehicle only holds four people, and yet the rear bench easily holds three. They refuse to install a center lap belt for the third occupant in the rear. I cannot put the third kid in the front because of the air bag. I need a lap belt for the center rear, and i need to resolve this quickly. My family is working on adopting a third child. I am only in the first year of a three year lease. This is a bogus escape claus to say it is only designed for four when the vehicle is equipped with a bench that easily holds three. Please help me!!!!
I purchased the tracker 6 days ago and the brake lines broke 5 days after purchase. I was driving home from work at 5pm on thursday 8/17/17 and left one stop light to drive up a hill to another stop light. The brake lines broke while driving in third gear at 25mph as i was decreasing my speed to stop at the second light. My car should not have passed inspection but it did and my safety was in jeopardy every moment i drove thinking the car was safe to drive. The brake pads were worn down completely, so its metal on metal. The rotors are shot and rusted. The fuel lines and brakes lines are rusted, the transmission is leaking and the differential is also leaking. The car needs $1300 in repairs just to fix the break lines and replace the brake pads/rotors. I would not have purchased the car had i known that. Especially when i brought it to be inspected by an objective third party mechanic to inform me of any major issues and they told me nothing was wrong and that the car was safe to drive.
2000 chevrolet tracker, have experienced several occasions when quickly depressing the brakes caused the front wheels to lock putting the vehicle into a 10 to 12' skid.the first two times i was leaving a driveway slowly rolling forward to enter a hwy when i decided not to go.when quickly depressomg the brakes the vehicle's front tires locked sending the vehicle into a skid.one time to the right and one time to the left.both times the pavement was dry and i have been very slowly rolling foreward to see if all was clear.the other problem is that the brake and accelerator are on the same level.on two occasions i have hit the brake pedal and contacted the accelerator at the same time. The first time the vehicle skidded out of control to the left for 10 to 12 feet.the second time i had just made a slow 90 degree turn onto a dry cement driveway directly in front of a garage.the driveway was approx. 25 to 30 feet long.this time my foot moved from the brake pedal onto the accelerator causing the vehicle to jump foreward.when i hit the brake hard the vehicle skidded out of control to the left, leaving black tire marks 8 to 10 feet long.at the end of the skid marks you can clearly see that the tires dug into the dry cement, yet the vehicle continued after the mark for several feet striking the garage.the accident caused minimal damage to the front bumper of the tracker, but caused extensive damage to the garage.i have documented this situation on film and filed a claim with my insurance company.

Wet conditions cause vehicle to wander across the road. Dealer notified, and informed consumer to contact nhtsa. Seeking help from nhtsa in this matter. Consumer states she has not been able to stop at stop signs or stop lights during wet conditions and has almost caused an accident.
The brake pedal and the accelerator pedal are too close and at times level with each other.on three acassions when i stopped, then statrted, then tried to stop again i hit the accelerator pedal as i was applying the break pedal.at one time as i was coming out of a blind driveway and had to stop for an oncoming car i breaked but also hit the accelerator, the car statrted to "bounce" foward.the harder i breaked and as a result hit harder on the accelerator the more the car moved foward. An accident was averted by inches due to menuvering by the driver of the other car.the dealer and the manufacturer say they cannot do anything without your intervention.

Vehicle was taken to chevy dealer to replace rusted crossmember on steering suspension system in may 2010.the dealer stated that the recall had expired a long time ago and the cost of replacement would be about $800.the recall, which the dealer kept, clearly stated that the recall was valid for ten years from date of purchase.the vehicle was purchased in december 2000.the dealer refused on two addition dates to honor the recall or gm's agreement to extend their warranty to a full ten years or 150,000 miles as your website indicates.help us if you can.
Front suspension cross-member of my 2000 chevrolet tracker has corroded through the heavy gauge metal adjacent to a support bolt and risks affecting the structural integrity of the vehicle. This is a heavy gauge structural member that should not have rusted through. Severe rust-through is the result of improper metal surface treatment by the manufacturer and needs to be recalled. Please force the manufacturer to address this safety-of-life issue on these vehicles as a catastrophic collapse of this component, if it occurs during driving, results in wheel collapse because this member supports the wheels a-frame. I estimate this rusting has been ongoing since 2009 even though i just saw it in 2012.i base this on the fact that in 2012 there was a hole rusted through the cross member that i could fit my thumb through however, holes of this size usually take a few years to develop and i never noticed it previously.this means that sub-surface rusting was occurring for a few years with surface rust obscuring this, which explains why the hole was not visible until just recently (when the surface rust collapsed, it exposed the hole beneath it).
I have recently had to replace my steering shaft on my 2000 chevy tracker. This exact same part has been recalled in the 1999 tracker. Why is it not recalled in the 2000 when it is the exact same part??this has cost me over $500.00. I was driving in my vehicle with my 2 year old and 5 year old when it went out. How upset i was when i learned through chevy that it is the same part but since it was a different year they would do nothing.
While turning rightsteering wheel locked. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection.mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
Starting to accelerate to make a right hand turnwhenlinkage insteering system failed, causing total loss of steering inmiddle of intersection, almost resulting in a crash.
On the approach to a toll plaza, @ 30mph experienced total loss of steering.resulting in a crach. The left front tire turned in causing left rear side of vehicle to turn into a concrete barrier wall. No other vehicles were involved due to the time of day (4:30am)it was found that the "knuckle" joint which controls the steering linkage broke in half resulting in an accident with damage of over $5,000.00. There has been a front end noise with this vehicle since i purchased it. Dealership unable to locate it...or determine the source on several occasions. Documented on their computer at the dealeship.
Right front plastic inner fender came loose and caught tire causing damage to the inner fender.
The front crossmember is horribly rusted.the previous owner(s) looked to have welded extra support to the area that the crossmember attaches to the control arm.i originally thought the previous owner hit something, but upon closer inspection there is no damage as the result of a collision.i just noticed this today, and do not at all feel safe driving anywhere until this is fixed.a 7 year old vehicle should not be rusting frame parts off!!

Frame has rusted through serious safety issue where tire is about to sink in.
I was backing up down a short lane of 25 feet or less. I heard a loud popping sound. I then pulled out onto a major highway (us-41). I traveled approximately 1 mile, coming upon a stoplight, the light turned red, upon applying my brakes, the vehicle suddenly pulled drastically to the left, at which time the right brakes locked up, the left brakes, did not work at all. I proceeded very cautiously home ( a trip of 15 miles). At which time i took the vehicle to my mechanic, after his evaluation of the vehicle, and a very brief road trip, informed me of "something he has never seen in his 25 years of being a mechanic) the crossmember that supports the upper and lower control arm was rusted thru. This caused the erratic steering, and the loss of ability to control the vehicle during a braking situation.this vehicle does have a recall (06186) but i was never notified! i have owned this vehicle since it was new, if i was notified, i would have definitely had it checked, since it is a vehicle my wife drives during the winter. General motors should notify owners of this vehicle about this problem it is dangerous........no questions.
Dt:the contact'swife was driving down a hill and she pressed the brake pedal which caused the vehicle to pull to the right.she was unable to drive the vehicle , and had to have it towed.the mechanicdetermined that the cross-member was heavily corroded and broke and dislocated the gear box . The vehicle is currently being repaired, the cross-member is being replaced.updated 2/9/2006 -

The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle; however, the driver found rust on the front cross member and it was broken. The a-arm has began to separate from the cross members. This is a second statement regarding a complaint i made concerning my tracker. Before i took itto the shop when i applied the brakes the car would shake violently and swerve to the side. It happened so quickly within a week. I drove on the freeway when it was so bad i knew it was too dangerous to drive. I took itto the shop, and they told me they could not believe what they saw! the cross member was a rusted mess! he couldn't believe i didn't crash and burn on the freeway. They said that this could have caused some serious damage to myself and others.i had to pay $1000 to get it fixed! $1000 to fix something that shouldn't have happened anyway on any car! i started a posting on carspace.com and there have been several responses to this same issue. Each person said when they took the car in, the shop couldn't believe what they saw. They were all surprised there wasn't a recall. I believe chevroletmade a statement along the lines of there not being any issue with this. That this kind of problem would not risk lives. They were wrong, something should be done. Please!

3/17/08to: general motors, chevrolet (customer complaint ? recall), nhtsa*my customer complaint (chevrolet tracker):*-late last year, my wife had received the gm letter.-i tookthe vehicle to the dealership, in dec. 2007 to ragsdale chevrolet in spencer, ma.-ragsdale?s technician put the car on the lift and inspected the car.-they said that the crossmember was ok, that the crossmember would not be replaced by chevrolet until there were actual holes in the crossmember (why??).-on 3/12/08, i was driving the vehicle, and when i applied the brakes, the car was pulling severely to one side.-that evening, i looked under the car and the passenger side suspension attachment (?a? arm) to the crossmember was only partially attached due to severe corrosion (several large rusted-through holes) at that area of the crossmember.-i called ragsdale and returned the car to their service dept. Mgr. (glenn) on 3/13/08. On the trip to ragsdale, the car?s body flexed so much when braking, that the windshield developed a crack.-i told glenn about the windshield crack and he said that ragsdale would not do anything for me on the windshield replacement, to take it up with chevrolet, and my auto insurance would take care of it (basically, lacking any customer service skills).-i asked glenn how ragsdale?s inspection _only three months prior_ did not show a problem, yet there was major corrosion now. Glenn said that ragsdale had the same problem of another tracker that was inspected by them in october 2007.-glenn offered _no_ apology for ragsdale service personnel not adequately performing the december inspection.i am very displeased by ragsdale?s poor service last december; there could have been a very serious accident due to ragsdale?s inadequate inspection of the crossmember. There appears to be _no_ oversight of this service department performing serious safety inspections that were mandated by chevy..
1 - normal driving, no off road driving.no speeding.no hazardous driving.2 - subframe rusted through on passenger's side.consequence?had to drive home at less than 25 mph and home was over 25 miles away.3 - subframe has to be replaced: metal too thin for welding pieces back together.old part is in my garage.
Rusted cross member on my 2000 chevy tracker. I drove my daughter to georgia from vermont. While in the local walmart parking lot i noticed my tire rubbing. I looked under the front and the cross member where the steering a frame attaches was completely rusted and broken off. I am glad it happened in a parking lot and not while driving at 65 mph on the high way.
I was driving along and had to stop thevehicle.when i applied the brakes the vehicle veered to the left and then i heard a clanking sound.i continued to drive along and came to a stop once again. And the vehicle veered to the left, andi again heard the sound.a friend of mine test drove the car and noticed the exact same thing.upon further investigation it was found that the crossmember was corroded, interfering with the suspension in the front, and creating an unsafe situation with regard to driving the vehicle.should the crossmember break injury could result.i want to know if general motors is going to pay to have this repaired?if not, why?the part is defective, making the vehicle inoperable.
2000 chevrolet tracker hard topcorroded suspension front cross member, noticed the steering was not right when i would tap the brake-pulled to the left--had it checked and the 2 front cross members were completely rusted out and hanging down!i called gmc and they refused to help saying its not been reported and i had too many miles on my car, 109,000.i researched the internet and gmc has fixed this problem on vehicles over 150,000 miles under special circumstances-safety issue.i also found recalls on same vehicle-but soft top not hard tops.i want them to fix my vehicle because this is a safety issue and this tracker is barely 10 years old.gmc knows about this, i have saw where this has been investigated in 2007 by you, and if not fixed someone could seriously get hurt!
Took 2000 chevy tracker to my regular mechanic to check for rust/corrosion and possible crossmember rusting.he found more than that, not only the crossmember but just about the entire underframe of the automobile.gm dealer will honor recall from gm however they tell me i need to spend about an extra 1500 for them to repair the crossmember extensive corrosion.and there is more rusting of this automobile.even if i spent 2-3k on repairs of rust, the rest of the frame is rusting.and i still owe on this car. I do not feel safe in this auto, afraid the frames will break when traveling over frost heaves or any highway. Gm needs to take responsibility for this inferior auto.
I bought a 2000 chevy tracker off a use car lot about two months ago we test drove it and it done fine untill about a month ago my wife was driving my grand daughter to her practice and the left front tire started a voilent wobble so i looked under the front end and descovered that the sub frame cross member on the left side had rusted and collapsed inside its self and it has done it a few times after that and the only way to stop it is to put on the brakes and go under 30 mph and thats dangerous when cars are right behind you i just waiting for a wreck so i started researching about the tracker and it appears that the cross member rusting is a defect problem and ive tried to find one to do the repairs myself if i could i think chevy company sould have to address this problem being it was a defect no matter when you purchased the vehical or missed the recall if any because its still a on going hazzard that could get someone killed or injured the used car lot was probley aware of the problem but any how i was just wondering if anything can be done except the obvious fix myself. Thank you.
The problem "rusted subframe member causing total separation of the control armbracket from the subframe"the information posted below actually comes from the nhtsa's defect investigation section, and appears to still be under investigation by nhtsa.. After reading the information below..and experiencing the loss of control while trying to stop when the bracket broke loose..i have two comments..1. Does someone have to die before this issue is taken seriously? and 2. If i'm not mistaken..it appears gm has already admitted to the "defect" and suzuki, the manufacturer of the "defective" part has already made "design changes" is this not enough of an admission of theproblem to force a recall????nhtsa action number: pe06021summary:on september 15th, 2006 general motors (gm) submitted information regarding approximately 128,000 model year (my) 1999 -2001 chevrolet tracker vehicles. According to gm, these vehicles were manufactured with front crossmembers designed and made by suzuki that can rust from the inside out because of insufficient corrosion protection. The design of the crossmember limited the coverage of paint on the interior surfaces during the painting process. In march 2006 suzuki made design changes to the crossmember to enhance the coverage of paint to the inside of the part. Gm indicated that when operated in areas of the country that use road salt for de-icing, over time water and salt/mud can accumulate inside the crossmember and cause crevice corrosion that can lead to perforation. These perforations at the front control arm brackets can cause the front suspension to become partially detached from the vehicle.
Front suspension cross member rusted through on my 2000 chevrolet tracker 4x4. Causing me to swerve out of my lane when braking at a stop light. Right front a-arm attachment point completely detached from cross member.
2000 chevrolet tracker 4 door suv. Pass side front cross member rotted out and front control arm dislocated, car would not steer, front wheel on pass. Side turned in while left wheel stayed straight.i strongly disagree with chevrolet's findings that it will not lose control, i was fortunately only going 25 mph when it happened.this truck is only 7 years old and only has 72,000 miles on it.the rest of the suv is in mint conditon.this should not have happened.the chevy dealer was unable to help me, as was gm because there is no recall.

2000 chevy tracker front crossmember catastrophic failure due to premature corrosion. Vehicle shook violently due to front control arm mounting bracket separating from front crossmember.had just exited a 55 mph highway onto a 30 mph side road and i was able to stop the vehicle without anyfurther damage.i have since found another 2000 chevy tracker with exactly the same issue.
I own a 2000 chevy tracker and the crossmember rusted out. I took it in and had it fixed, spending $900. I was told it was not supposed to happen like that. I took it in because there was a terrible jerking everytime the breaks were applied. The front of the car would pull hard to one side. It was really scary when it happened on the freeway going 65 mph. I almost lost control of my car. I took it in and they said it was unsafe to drive and they were surprised it didn't snap earlier because it looked so bad!

I recently had my 2000 chevy tracker 4dr in for pennsylvanias state inspection and at that time my mechanic told me the suspension bar is rotting away from the frame. I have looked online and have seen many complaints and which states that gm had extended a special warranty program for this issue in the snow/salt states. I bought this vehicle used and feel this problem is a manufacturers defect and which gm seems to admit. My vehicle has 114000 miles on it and cannot afford this repair on my own. I called the local dealership and asked for a recall search, at that time i was told there are none and when i mentioned the special warranty they stated they have never heard of this. I have never received any recall notices for this problem that exists and would like some help with this issue. Thank you
Stability ofvehicle wa uncertain .consumerwasn't aware of this at the time of purchase.vehicle has tipped overbeyond itscapability, was unable to go over 50 mph without feeling like it was moving all over the road by the wind.manufacturer will buy back vehicle if not repairable. ,dealer has confirmed it,but hasn't contacted the consumer.
There is no incident so far.but according to my mechanic, one hit on a pothole could cause it to break/crack. From service campaign bulletin given to me by my mechanic-front suspension crossover corrosion on 2000 chevy tracker.i am less than 2 months past the coverage, 10 yrs or 150,000 miles.my truck was from 12.15.99chevy will not honor recall, says it's not a recall even though there are several complaints of damage & serious accidents occurring because of this defect.
Front suspension cross member rusted completely through on passenger side.suspension a arm completely disconnected from cross member.handling severely degraded.
2000 chevy tracker rusted right front control arm bracket. Consumer states that there is a hole totally through the crossmember. She also states that the front end assembly was loosened due to this rusting.the consumer was denied reimbursment, because according to cheverolet, the oart that was included in the special coverage was not replaced and also the repair was not made by an authorized chevrolet dealer.

Subframe rusted out upon research it appears this was an ongoing complaint about this model car pulled to right when braking lots of shaking too . Why have there been no recalls ?
The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet tracker. While driving at an unknown speed, the front end of the vehicle shook violently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. After inspecting the vehicle, the technician diagnosed that the front passenger side cross member was rusted and fractured. As a result, the cross member needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 156,000.

While driving on highway had to brake steering wheel violent went left if anyone had of been in other lane i would have hit them head on. I thought the brake caliper was locking up. So i went to part store bought a nw one($92) took it to a garage of a man i knew. He put it on lift to change caliper he noticed control arm complete ly rusted out on cross frame..there was also a hole about 7"long rusted out of frame.bthis wasn't a safety prob. He said not to drive it wads not safe to drive. It was a sunday no one working on sunday. Went back monday. He had to do alot of welding metal plates just to get it home. Home checked on line for a cross member cheapest$300 plus shipping thats not to install it. I have a limited income so cant afford it right now. Chevy has new this prob for a long time according to internet as toyoto did with rusting. Out frames. The frame on this car should have replace by chevy they used poor metal that would be unsafe. Ive seem car frames from way back better than this. I've only had this carfor a week.the body and transmission are excellent but the rest was made cheap. Its a 2000 tracker (148000 mi) 4cyl 2.0 4wheel drive.. I also noticed online the prob was right side of cross member. This prob same in 1999. Chevy wants to delay long enough so they are a cup full of rust. Its sad how crooked people can be just to make a buck. Thank you [xxx]. Car veers to rt when brakes hit.does not ride on wet roads at all. Notice no trackers on lot gmc is aware of the cars problems but just quite making to prevent paying damages. There are numerous defects with this model. To included seat belt especially the ones in the back. The air bags catch fire when they come out, my rt side of face is still numb a=, also the brakes lock, i've reported this on the survey they sent to no avail.you have to control the car very well if there is any kind of wind blowing.i know they are aware of all the defects, but just got away with this one. ***dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis****744626
While driving approximately 35 miles per hour on a rural road, there was a loud bang from the front of the car, immediately followed by shaking, rattling and a swerve to the right.the car was driven to a local auto shop where an inspection revealed that the front suspension cross member had snapped in half, due to extensive corrosion damage.the mechanic then told me that chevy had instituted an internal campaign #06186 in 2007 to address a known issue with cross members that were not correctly protected against corrosion effecting model years 1999-2004.the cross member needs to be replaced.
Wet conditions cause vehicle to wander across the road. Dealer notified, and informed consumer to contact nhtsa. Seeking help from nhtsa in this matter. Consumer states she has not been able to stop at stop signs or stop lights during wet conditions and has almost caused an accident.
On wednesday 9-5-07 i was driving on the interstate when my tracker started making a cluncking sound and started veering to the left. When i would stop and begin to accelerate again it would grab and then drive normally. Today 9-11-07 while driving at a rate of 45mph my car began to shake all over. I lowered my dring speed to 35 and when i stopped at a light the vehicle now vibrating and grabbing to the right. As if my brakes were going out. I had to drive no faster than 20 mph to the auto mechanics shop. He looked under my vehicle and at that point my front cross member fell off. He said he was shocked and never saw anything like this. The entire cross member wascompletely rusted and i was in serious danger driving this car. Now that i have had this problem i am without a vehicle for 3days due to the time frame needed for ordering this part. It will cost $350 for the part only not to mention whatever labor will be so my question who is responsible for this -wouldn't it be gm. I drive my granddaughter in this vehicle everyday. So nothing will be done to recall this car part until a serious accident occurs and results in death. Is that what i'm understanding? how many of us have to be effected by this problem-can we ban together for help? my car is garaged, not driven alot of miles per year and taken very good car of and my front cross member rusts and just falls off. I would like this looked into by someone. Does anyone else want to discuss this with me? please respond as soon as possible.thank you
The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet tracker. While driving 45 mph the contact heard a noise and the vehicle pulled to the right. The contact was able to continue driving the vehicle; however, the driver found rust on the front cross member and it was broken. The a-arm has began to separate from the cross members. The lower control arm rotted away from the subframe on my tracker while i was driving. There was a special coverage issued by gm but they are refusing to honor it as it was not a recall and my title is a salvage title. (the care was deemed road safe at the time ohio title was issued by the ohio state highway patrol) special coveragenumber is 06186. Chevy admits it is due to improper corrosion treatment in that area they will only honor special coverages on salvage vehicles if it is an emission issue not a general safety issue unless of course it is upgraded to a recall.
The car pulled left and started shaking and had trouble stopping.

I am writing to complain about my 2000 chevrolet tracker.the driver's side front lower arm has rusted through and broke and the left side is also cracked.this vehicle is not that old that the frame should break.it is at a garage to fix the driver's side that has broke.it will cost approximately $400.00 to fix.

I was pulling out of driveway and heard a snap pulled it back into driveway called my mechanic i was afraid to drive itfound out it was sub frame. Wasn't going to get it fixed and just park it until a week later i got a safety notice is what gm is calling it in the mail that said their was not sufficient corrosion protection on the vehicle and this problem could happen if not inspected and that i should have it checked well i already had it checked prior to the notice. And when i went to have it fixed as per the notice told me to do. The local chevy garage and gm told me that i was passed the mileage cut off for this. In frustration i gave away the vehicle to my sister. Why is their a cut off for mileage if this is a gm mistake and now they expect me to pay more than $1000.00 to get this repaired.

The problem is that the wiper material selected by gmc is not suitable for use in cold weather areas.in addition, i had a similar problem with my gmc 1996 yukon.during cold weather the wiper blade material takes the shape of the windshield in its rest position.if you driving along after a snow storm with chemicals on the road and the road has slush or simply water on it and a vehicle passes you (going in either direction) and throws slush or dirty water up on your windshield you are blinded until you get the wipers on.however, these wipers don't help, in fact they make things worse.as the wipers move over the windshield they maintain their at rest configuration and ride on the end points of the wipers.turning on the windshield washer does not help since the wiper blade does not touch most of the windshield.so now you are driving along totally blind.i asked the dealer to put on gm blades suitable for winter conditions.his response was they don't make any.i told him how the gm wipers don't work.evidently in an attempt to make feel better he told me he had to stop twice on the way to work that to "hand work" his wipers so that they cleaned the window.he informed me that gm knew of the problem and rather than make all weather wipers they decided to make wipers that most of the time in a large area of the country!!!!when you are driving at any speed greater than 5 miles an hour and you can no longer see the road you are in a death trap and pose a risk of injury to others.
Severe vibration while driving from 32 up to 45 mph. Vehicle been in/out of dealer shop on 6-7 occasions, and was unable to correctproblem.gas pedal was clicking, dealer replaced throttle valve control.consumer complained of a noise under the hood, dealer replaced the catalytic converter.dome light bulb was replaced.windshield blade was worn, dealer replaced.serpentine belt was causing a squealing sound, dealer replaced.dealer has repaired brakes and muffler thinking these 2 components could be related to vibration, however neither were the cause of the vibration.
My tire wheel on my chevy tracker was about to come off.the mechanic told me that the bearings in the axle had worn out.i was appalled at the potential for me to injury someone else or myself.there is a problem is the axle fails on a vehicle due to normal driving.
