After 5 years of garage kept vehicle, purchased a new car to be kept in garage, only 2 days of having this suv outside the dash cracks, very disappointed on gm customer service i have 6 yr 100000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. I worry about where the crack is right by the passenger in dash airbag
The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet tahoe. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v051000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The local dealer hendrick gmc located at 1620 montgomery hwy, hoover, al 35216 was contacted and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.*dt
The dashboard around the airbag is cracked causing an extremely unsafe environment for my self and family.
While driving my 2012 tahoe my vehicle shut off and i went to hit my brakes to stop i had no brakes so as i was coming to a curve i couldn't turn the wheel , luckily i wasn't driving at a fast speed . I was going 30 so i had to wait for vehicle to stop and put in park and restarted vehicle , it did start back up but now my service air bag light is on
Last year around april 2020 i noticed a crack in the dash on the right passenger side where the air bag is located.over the last year another crack formed on the left passenger side located where the air bag is and the dash in front of the driver has cracked directly in front of the driver going down towards the windshield, it is beginning to split into 3 separate cracks. My vehicle is garage kept, so i know the heat from the sun did not cause my dash to crack in 3 separateplaces. About a month ago i received a recall on my vehicle due to faulty airbags. So i decided to educate myself on the recall and after reading hundreds of complaints regarding their vehicle's dash cracking as well..lets see, faulty air bags along with cracked dashes where the air bags are located guess its not a coincidence. Guess it won't be a coincidence when the faulty air bag goes off and the cracked plastic dash goes flying and severally injures or causes death to a loved one. I wonder how many drivers and/or passengers have been injured or are deceased due to this manufacture defect.
Cracked dash right where the airbag is. I park my car in the garage and use sunshades when not parked inside. My tahoe is not that old. I take excellent care of it, and there should be no reason for the dash to crack. It almost seems like there may be too much pressure from the airbag being inside there causing it to crack. It's definitely a manufacture defect. I'm not sure the airbag will work properly if needed.
Both front door panels tear apart at door pulls ,arm rests. Could be rear door pulls will tear up if used very much. I know some friends, and others have the same problem ,pick up trucks also.
Vehicle was stationary, cracks in dash developed next to airbagand over instrument panel, many owners have complained regarding having the same cracks in the same area, concern with crack near airbag - will airbag deploy properly when needed and/or will dash shatter when/if airbag is deployed
Takata recall
Dash is cracked over instrument panel, and 2 spots over the passenger side airbag. The cracks get bigger everyday and makes the dash rattle. Bought in 2016 and the cracks just keep getting worse. Along with the drivers side door handle that cracked inside.
Dash cracked by thepassenger side airbag
Dashboard is cracked by the airbag
Approximately 6 months ago the dash on the passenger side started to crack in my 2012 chevy tahoe.it has always been in a heated garage and out of the sunlight.on december 1, 2015 is the date i purchased the vehicle and the dealer talked me into putting a nano technology coating on the entire vehicle to keep it in like new condition, which cost me $899.i took it to the dealership and showed them and they were going to let me know if abra would fix it, however, after 2 months still no response from the dealership and i contacted them again yesterday.the other thing is the driver side door handle has cracked underneath and so when you close the door it feels like you are going to pull the door vinyl right off.i have never had anything like this happen before.
Dash cracking near electrical system on driver's side and near air bag on passenger side. I've called gm and dealerships. They said there's no recall. This is a very dangerous situation and i don't want the airbag exploding while my 1 year old grandbaby is in the vehicle with me. There's several people that have complained of the same issues online. Please do something about this!
Two issues:1. Dashboard cracked at airbag on passenger side and on drivers side.airbag deployment appears unsafe due to cracking.2. In hot and humid weather to, the traction and stability systems become inoperable and the message system requests that maintenance be performed.this message can come up a few minutes after driving or can come on right after starting the vehicle.
I was driving west bound on 176th st and as i approached the light i could not brake or turn my car to the right in which i had a head on collision with another vehicle.on in packed my airbags did not deploy! the driver of the other vehicle even told the officer he was trying to turn , his eyes were as big as a cows clearly he was in distress.luckily neither of us were injured.
Two cracks in the dash, 1 on top in the middle of the instrument panel & the other along side the passenger air bag; which i assume is not very safe in case of a situation where the air bag may be deployed.
Dashboard keeps cracking by air bag compartmentand over the instrumentcluster
Dashboard broke into passenger side airbag aperture while the car was sitting in my garage and had less than 75,000 miles. I went to chevrolet service center in dallas, tx on east i-35 concerned about the possibility of additional injury if the airbag deployed since the dash is already broken and probably will further disintegrate if a collision causes airbag deployment.
April of 2016 the dashboard on my 2012 tahoe had crack to show up at my airbag. I took it to my dealership to ask if this is a hazard. They agree that the location made it a hazard. They also told me that i was not the first to come to them with this same problem in the exact same area. The dealership said that there was a lawsuit in place to have the dashboard replace by gmc. They then told me that other cracks would form over time because that is what is happening to other vehicle owners with this same vehicle. Unfortunately, they were correct. A few months later another crack showed up on my driver side. I took it back to dealership and they once again said that this is exactly what is happening to everyone else. I asked if there was anything they could do for me. They could replace it but then said, that gmc should really step up and make this a recall. As i research this online, i found where this is happening to a lot of people that have 2012 gmc tahoe. This is hazard to anyone that is in the car. According to the experts at my dealership, the crack at the airbag could get cut or mess it up from deploying. Plus if i was to get into a wreck the pieces could easily break off and cause more physical harm. We have spent a lot on buying this top of the line 2012 gmc ltz tahoe. We understand that over time different parts of the vehicle will need to be replace like rubber seals around the door, door handles & other things that come with normal wear and tear. However, replacing a dashboard should not be on this list. Especially when this is happening to thousands of other vehicles. The cracks are happening in the exact same spot in both places. The cracks are getting worse. I really would hope that gmc would step up & do the right thing to place a recall on the dashboard before someone gets injured. If they care about peoples lives, there should not be a problem.
My dash is cracked in two places on my 2012 tahoe with a manufacture date of 9/2011.the dash cracks are located on the passenger side at the location of the airbag and on the dash above the instrument panel.this is the largest crack at 6 inches in the shape of a "v".this crack has grown over time.the dealer has indicated there is no fix other than replacing the dash.due to proximity to the airbag i am concerned that in an accident, the dash might be dislodged and become a hazard.the initial crack happened at approximately 60,000 miles.it has grown worse.the car now has 90,000 miles on it.
Multiple cracks in the dash and around air bags.multiple people have stated the dash is a problem in the avalanche, silverado and tahoe yet the dealership charges an astronomical amount to replace the dash.
I'm not sure exactly when the first crack in the dashboard appeared but i noticed it about six months ago on the passenger side.then on 05/16/17, i cranked the car, pulled out of the parking space and started down the parking garage ramp.that's when i heard a loud cracking noise. So i was traveling approximately 5 mph.after i pulled out and stopped at the red light i looked and the driver side dash above the instrument panel had a large v shaped crack in it. Because the dash is broken on both sides it bounces up and down violently while driving.when i got home i was taken pictures and noticed that the entire dashboard has cracks on both sides.at least 10 cracks.it looks as if the dashboard was hit by an earthquake. After some research i found that this seems to be a problem with a lot of gm cars. It definitely is a defective part but even more i'm concerned with the fact that this could cause the air bags malfunction in the event of an accident because the entire dash would explode.
Takata recalli called baierl chevrolet in wexford, pennsylvania about the recall.according to the nhtsa.gov website my vehicle is affected. The dealership said they have no information about this recall and therefore will not make an appointment to look at my tahoe.who is right?the nhtsa.gov website?or baierl chevrolet?this needs to be confirmed, as i am currently driving children around in my tahoe.
I, like several hundred chevy tahoe, gm owners (approximate years 2007-2013) are experiencing "cracked dashes". These cracks are appearing at various laces on the dash but the area of most concern is adjacent to the passenger side air bag. Gm refuses to take any responsibility for these potential hazardous conditions. Too, it is my understanding that these have been way under-reported to you. These is a lengthy facebook site dedicated to the numbers of owners facing these challenges. Please force gm to take responsibility for these poor design and implementation practices.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet tahoe. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v054000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact contacted the dealer and another dealer carl black chevrolet (535 murfreesboro pike, nashville, tn 37210) but was informed by both dealers that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Took car to dealer for nys inspection* {recall must be done to pass} service advisors work on commision, so i get a $5500 quote on "" seriously needed work"" yet my concerns were overlooked. & unauthorized work yet recalls are to be done free so thereno commison, so they upsale you and put off the takata airbags as"" on order""= profit over safety. Now im on the hook for $6000 or they keep the car then sell as "certified pre- owned" this is part of a serious flaw within the automotive industry. My car is a decommisioned nj police k9 car. So it was a fleet car + very well maintained. The service advisor is grossly over billing and padding the work order. I had to put a stop work order as a disabled person who needs his car to be mobile and i bought a used car to avoid financing and large financial obligations that i can not afford. I even got corperate involved { but they are all chevy team leaders}

We received the recall notice for unsafe airbags, but no one can tell me when they will be fixed.so my daughter is driving in a vehicle with a known safety issue and no one seems to be able to give us a repair date.the dealer just said to try and drive safely.gm said they are prioritizing the repairs and science we live in a smaller city does that mean we are last.the tahoe is a 2012 so they have had plenty of time to fix the issue.nissan fixed my truck in 2 weeks from the time i received the notice.what good is a recall if they don't fix the issue.there seems to be no one who cares!!!it's all about the money, not the lives.
As i was driving on 176th getting ready to turn on spanaway loop my wouldn't complete the right turn or stop so i had a head on collision with another truck and my air bags didn't deploy.
While turning left (tahoe) with a protected green arrow at an x-shaped intersection, vehicle (kia sedan) at fault failed to yield and entered the intersection at speeds upwards of 40 mph from the left of the tahoe.front-impact collision occurred; due to the shape of the intersection and the velocity of the impact, tahoe struck passenger side of kia sedan. Trajectory of impact caused directional changes in upwards of 90* for both vehicles; the force of the primary accident described above also caused mentioned vehicles to collide with left rear of another vehicle (honda sedan), causing near 360* rotation of the honda sedan.due to the force of impact, front & side airbags deployed on both the kia sedan and the honda sedan, but failed to deploy on the tahoe.scene indicated that the kia sedan made no attempt to brake or decrease speed prior to collision; posted speed limit at intersection is 40 mph.force was such that after the collision, tahoe transmission was in drive, but remained at a complete stop.damage sustained on the tahoe include front-end body damage, engine damage (vehicle required towing and was inoperable), and frame damage, at a minimum.in addition, engine service lights as well as onstar vehicle diagnostic reports indicate that the airbag system, antilock braking system, and the stabilitrak stability control system also sustained damage and require attention.multiple first-responders commented on the oddity that, given the damage sustained by the tahoe and the velocity at impact, the airbags deployed on all vehicles but the tahoe.
Cracked dashboard-cracks all above the instrument panel and around airbag
Dash cracking.this is a known issue with these vehicles and gm needs to fix it.every one i have seen does this.they crack near the airbag originally, which mine is.it is beginning to crack in other places.the sharp edges have cut my finger before while just wiping the dash.the sharp edges could also cut into electrical wires down the road.this vehicle has always been taken care of and stored indoors and this is unacceptable to have sharp cracked edges like this from normal use.
There are cracks along the dashboard that seem as if they would cause a major safety issue launching pieces of the dash if the airbags deploy.
Dashboard cracked above instrument panel on drivers side and at airbag on passenger side.
Crack right where the air bag is on the dash board. The crack occurred while it was in the garage sitting still.
My tahoe has dash cracks from poorly constructed dash risking dash collapse and cracks at the airbag with risk offlying debris upon release of airbag resulting in injuring occupants. Chevrolet not interested in replacing. Purchased the vehicle like this at 75000 milesand discovered this is a very common issue in all the chevrolet and gm vehicles from years 2007-2014.
There was a wreck, where the opposing driver pulled out to take a left turn into oncoming traffic, 10 ft in front of [xxx] (owner of tahoe). Impact was on front passenger side. Airbag did not deploy effectively resulting in [xxx] have a broken neck and bone fusion. Airbags were exploded open. These events might not have occurred if proper equipment was there. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I noticed crack in dash on jan 2, 2016.tahoe is barely over 3 years old.i am concerned crack is next to airbag and could cause safety issue if air bag is deployed.
We own two chevy tahoe's, one is a 2008 and the other is a 2012. Both of them have cracking dashboards. I am highly concerned as the effect this could have on the airbags. Both vehicles are in very good condition except for the cracking dashboards.
I currently own a 2012 tahoe that the dashboard has cracked over the drivers area and cracked in two place on the passenger airbag causing a serious safety issue should the airbag deploy it could seriously injure someone or kill them
Takata airbag remedy not available
This week the temperature fluctuated drastically.my tahoe was in the garage for 2 solid days. I pulled it out the next two days and drove to work like any normal day but the temperatures were cold in the mornings and warmed up through the day. Today we pulled the tahoe out of the garage, got in to go to church and noticed that the dash had cracked in the upper corner of the airbag compartment towards the air vent. I am very concerned that should i be in an accident and the airbag deploy, that shards of plastic would break and be impelled through the vehicle possible harming my family.
Dash is developing cracks , most concerning is the crack leading to the airbag on the passenger side
2 cracks around front passenger side airbag dash board.happened within the past month.
Vehicle was stationary and i noticed a crack in the dash board right on the passengerside air bag.thru some research i came across a pending class action lawsuit for this issue affecting thousands of gm customers.this vehicle has only 35,000 miles on it.
Cracked dash near airbag.cracks appearing along dashboard.if airbag deploys, sharp plastic shards will be propelled at high speeds.
There is a large crack in the dashboard right up to the air bag. I don't know when or how it started. I looked at the dashboard and there was a crack.it seems to be getting bigger.i am afraid that if i am ever in an accident with a passenger the airbag will not deploy.
Dash has split into the passenger airbag container and now into the cowling that covers the instrument panel. This has all happened since 10-3-2015 with less than 80000 miles on car that is garaged and dash protected from sun when out of garage. Splits occurred overnight in both cases when car was parked and weather was not extreme; got in car in a.m. And discovered split #1 (image 1)and same with split #2 (image 2) on 11-16-16 that has now forked (image 3) in the past month. I have never used armor all on the dash. It has never sat out in inclement weather.
Cracked dash and defective air bag system.will fix the airbag but won't fix the cracked dash in three places.they want more than 1500 dollars to fix the dash.
Takata recall---a code "service air bag" note appeared on the dash and is now at the dealer to replace the passenger air bag. The cost is over $1000. The vehicle was not in an accident, the code just came on while driving.
I bought truck certified by carl's buick gmc. Jan 30th 2014 with 40 something thousand miles, also paid 5k for extended warranty. Alternator went bad, service department sucks, and also had them check my dash bc cracks started, and deemed defective by service manager bc truck kept like new, i only drive on trip to family and dr's, i'm handicapped, i pd cash. And charged me thru extended warranty, if the air bags go off pc of dash going everywhere. No way everyone has same exact cracks and trouble with my motor burning oil which is changed before really due, calipers locked up, and burnt up abs wiring, and i forgot i went through 3 alternator before fixed an having issues again. I pay this much as a good gm customer and this is how we're going to be treated. I'm not o.k. With this.
Complaint #11400396 --- a mistake was made on tahoe milage.instead of 15000 miles, it was 150,000 miles instead. Please excuse me.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the dashboard had started to crack on the driver's and passenger's side. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v054000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. Vin tool confirms parts not available. The failure mileage was 108,200.
I have a 2 inch crack by my passenger side air bag in my dash also that just kind of appeared out of nowhereand the center of the windshield panel of the dash is also lifting up. I have just noticed.
Dash has cracked within last month into the passenger airbag door. Concerned that deployment of passenger airbag would result in defective deployment or further breakage of dash causing danger to automobile passengers due to shards being broken during deployment.
While driving approximately 70 mph. Vehicles engine and instrument panel cycled on and off randomly.noting that once i was able to pull off the road and come to a complete stop the vehicle finally shutdown. Furthermore attempting to turn the truck on only resulted in flickering electronic equipment with no response from the engine. Two weeks following this event fortunately enough after the vehicle was parked we noticed that electric folding mirrors weren't responding to the push button actuating the folding mirrors feature. This event we were able to get on our camera phone. Same flickering of electronics and again the engine didn't respond, turn over. In both occasion it was only after sitting approximately 30min. That vehicle finally responded and turned on.

Periodicly, while driving in normal conditions, the radio will turn off, the instrument panel will blink, the door locks will repeatedly lock/unlock, transmission will feel like it is in neutral or the engine will completely turn off.

The hvac actuators of all sides are very regularly damaged and must be recalled, even newer version like 2012 are facing such issues.
While driving down the road my vehicle shuts down on occasion. Interior lights, radio, dash panel, transmission and engine shut down while driving. Also door locks, lock and unlock. This has happened multiple times. Last year i was told that the problem was repaired after i was nearly hit at a high rate of speed when this occurred. This has recently this week occurred again 2 times.
The stablitrack off light came on.the door locks rapidly locked and unlocked. The engine was surging with loss of power. The radio was going off and on.
The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning. An independent mechanic replaced the fuel pump, but the vehicle continued to stall. The mechanic also noticed that the fuel pump, associated with the wiring, seal, wiring harness, and fuel system, was not getting power. The spare tire was let down to further inspect the area and the mechanic noticed that the pins were disconnected, and there was a significant amount of corrosion to the seals and wiring near the fuel system control module. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the seal and seven of the wires, associated with the wiring harness, were prematurely corroded. It was also diagnosed that the fuel system control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and indicated that the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign number: 09v145000 (latches/locks/linkages). The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
Electrical system cutting out while driving the vehicle. Full reset of the electrical system during driving conditions. Brakes unresponsive, steering, engine, dash and all other electrical equipment. Vehicle was sold to us through ron cater in alvin, tx with an open recall and not repaired before being driven off the lot. Will be taking it in asap.
The rear audio controller has a hum. When it is off the hum stops. It will also stare humming/buzzing when the turn signal is on. It does it randomly whether the vehicle is moving or not.
Dash cracked from corner of passenger side defrost vent to airbag, and again from the defrost vent to over dome over driver cluster and any thing wet can get into components of the speedometer and rest of stuff in there. Trucks never been kept in sun, and had one dealership already confirmed that its a defect in product not caused by elements or lack of care, or anything done to it. Its parked most times and it's getting worse, im handicapped and vehicle only used when im driving or in it. I'm not happy about this bc it's not like this was a cheap vehicle and im on fixed income, and paid cash and extended warranty will not cover cosmetic. Its almost splitting at top now on driver side to go around the front of dash. Also had to replace battery and alternater only at 50kmiles and warning light never came on, noticed dimming of lights when applying brake pedal and while driving the voltage gauge kept going to 0 and back to 14 back and forth, got to dealer and again tried sending me home but finally tested original altenater and it wasn't working so replaced and cost me $100 but still no warning or engine light and then dealer had to tow my vehicle again bc system no updated found problem by another dealer, under coating coming off and rust on top by rack on roof on each side. This was a $68k vehicle and because of defects and not a recall we're responsible for half cost, dealers want over $500 for something that is a design or product of poor quality, this is how chevy/ gmbuyers are treated when buying one of the top luxury vehicles. What company does this, i paid cash for this dream vehicle and the product is all over internet and lawsuits bc of product defect, cheap products used but sold as top of line. Wow.
2012 chevrolet tahoe. Consumer states problem with oil gauge and states instrument cluster panel is defective *tgwthe consumer stated while driving, he noticed the oil pressure gauge showed zero pressure. The consumer took the vehicle to his mechanic, who informed him about the defective instrument panel and the cost would be $ 395.00 to replace it.
The electronic traction control and stability control lights showing they had been turned off came on, and the message display said service the same.took to dealership and they checked for errors and reset computer.it has kept going in and out of operation sporadically for the past several months. Really no explanation.have tried to find similarities in the situations when it is a problem.the incidents seem random.i have noticed that when i hit bump or dip in a road, it has become inoperative on several occasions.but it doesn't happen with every bump or dip.it also occurs without hitting a bump or dip.
The stablitrack off light came on.the door locks rapidly locked and unlocked. The engine was surging with loss of power. The radio was going off and on.
The traction and stabilitrak controls are coming on and staying we haven't found the problem yet but i noticed there was a recall on both at one point

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet tahoe. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power for a few seconds, but continued to operate as designed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to northwest chevrolet buick gmc cadillac of bellingham (3891 northwest ave, bellingham, wa 98226, (360) 234-3144), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the local dealer. The failure mileage was 107,058.

I was passing on a two lane high way at an accelerated speed at which time the engine dies, no lights no nothing total engine failure.luckily i have enough momentum that i safely get around the semi and continue to be able to coast until i find a safe place to pull over.i call my local dealer who will not come tow me as i am approximately 50 miles from home although i do have gm roadside assistance.i turn off the ignition and it does restart so i manage to drive to a nearby dealership and leave it there.nothing shows up on the computer i refuse to take it home.should they not be able to repair this problem i will hold the dealership and general motors 100% responsible.thank god my daughter and i are safe but this is a tragedy waiting to happen if not resolved.

Purchase the tahoe january 2017 and the engine went out in february 2017

Cpm malfunctioned causing the throttle to become stuck in full open position.the vehicle was continued to accelerate and would not stop.computer was stuck in 100% mode. Brakes including the emergency brake would not stop the vehicle.tahoe continued to gain speed.rpm's running between 500-600 rpm.traffic was everywhere turning onto a 2 lane side road and notifying 911 i put the car in neutral and turned the engine off.the vehicle coasted for another mile or more before stopping.the brakes were smoking at that point.

While a accelerating onto an interstate highway the vehicle began to shake violently around 50mph so i pulled over and turned off the vehicle. Read later online that this anomaly is called the chevy shake. Called chevrolet customer service and they told me to take my vehicle into my local dealership for diagnosis. I also learned chevrolet are doing nothing about this problem.
Periodicly, while driving in normal conditions, the radio will turn off, the instrument panel will blink, the door locks will repeatedly lock/unlock, transmission will feel like it is in neutral or the engine will completely turn off.

My vehicle has several significant cracks and breakage in the dash. I am very concerned about the effect this will have on the airbags in the event they are deployed. It also concerns me that the broken dash could do more harm to driver and or passenger in an accident.

Rear door are not draining. The drain holes are plugged due to the outside. The rear doors fill up with water.
Cracked dashboard on atahoe, can't believe gm doesn't stand behind this know issue.government should not bail them out next time
My dash board is cracked in two locations, one above the passenger seat airbag. I am concerned that it will cause injury if the air bag is inflated. The vehicle is in excellent condition and has been in no accidents. The dashboard material is defective and has failed.
Two cracks in the dashboard, one major crack above the instrument panel and the other with the passenger airbag. Vehicle only has 42k miles on it and has been meticulously taken care of. Larger crack above instrument panel is spreading, can hear it cracking when driving or staring up the car.
Vehicle was stationary and i noticed a crack in the dash board right on the passengerside air bag.thru some research i came across a pending class action lawsuit for this issue affecting thousands of gm customers.this vehicle has only 35,000 miles on it.
Multiple cracks in dash. Purchased this vehicle used with cracks already present. One crack grew and opened into a hole in front of steering wheel.
I noticed that my dash cracked in two places. My tahoe is always parked in the garage and not from sun damage. I purchased new, and had to take it back to fix the dash because it wasn't aligned correctly.
One morning i came out to find a 1/4 inch crack in the dashboard in front of the instrument panel.after a couple days it grew to about an inch.i keep the truck in showroom condition and am shocked to find how common this is on $64,000 trucks within 1-3 years of ownership.it's unacceptable.my 1998 tahoe interior was perfect and it had 300,000 miles.the crack appeared overnight.
Dash is cracked over instrument panel, and 2 spots over the passenger side airbag. The cracks get bigger everyday and makes the dash rattle. Bought in 2016 and the cracks just keep getting worse. Along with the drivers side door handle that cracked inside.
There is a large crack in dashboard above the steering wheel.the vehicle is garage kept and we have found this is a common problem with our model.we feel that in a collision the dash could splinter and sharp edges could cause injuries to driver and passengers.the manufacturer believes this would not happen.however, how can they account for an infinite number of variables in an accident?we were offered a discount for a repair at the dealership, yet the amount was still near $600.it is a safety issue and we shouldn't incur any costs!

Dash cracking in multiple places.
Dash is cracked and damaged
Dashboard cracked above airbag. Cracked while vehicle was parked in my driveway.
I have a 2012 tahoe that has an craking issue with the dash board. One month ago in august,2016 i was driving and out of the blue a 1 1/2 inch crack suddenly appeared from the dash area into side passenger air bag area. Today is september 2016 and i went out to my car this morning to leave and noticed while i was starting my car that there was a now a 4 inch crack just above the counsel area in the dash. My vehicle just hit 40 thousand miles and this is just unexceptable for chevy to not take responsibility for something that has been happening since 2007 in many of there vehicles mainly the tahoe. My vehicle is very well maintained and still looks as it did the day i bought it and the cracks in the dash are to me a hazard especiallythe one around the air bag.
There is a crack on the drivers side dash, at the upper left hand corned of the airbag.the vehicle has not been in a collision since i purchased it nor do i do any kind of offroading on rough terrain.vehicle is always parked in my driveway.i woke up one morning, got in the truck and the crack was there.the evening prior, there was no crack in the dash. I do not know the specific cause of this crack. While doing research, i noticed that other vehicles like mine have experienced airbag failures which have resulted in accidents and at least one fatality.the crack tends to expand when the weather is hot and contracts to almost an unnoticeable state when cool.
Severely cracked dash over the instrument panel and multiple cracks around the passenger side airbag.
Dash cracked. Over time is getting worse. Already cracked half way across dashboard. I did nothing to the vehicle to cause the crack.
Dashboard cracking from passenger air bag door to windshield defrost vent.contacted dealer - butch davis chevrolet in ripley, ms salesperson advised this is a common problem with no solution.the dealer refused to address the issue and advised filing a complaint with chevrolet customer assistance but that to his knowledge, this issue is wide spread and not being addressed by chevrolet.
Dash board on drive and passengerside are crack
Dash continues to crack and rattle.makes wife nervous when driving, makes her feel it may come apart.
Cracked dash and defective air bag system.will fix the airbag but won't fix the cracked dash in three places.they want more than 1500 dollars to fix the dash.
Two cracks in the dash, 1 on top in the middle of the instrument panel & the other along side the passenger air bag; which i assume is not very safe in case of a situation where the air bag may be deployed.
I need my cracked dash replaced or fixed. It just cracked one day. Noaccident or anything it was parked and cracked. I believe it's a faulty dash. We have an 2004 tahoe and dash has never done this. From what i've read gm purchased some dash from another company but realized they were problems and went back to original company. So they need to step up and be responsible for this problem .. The crack is on thr drivers side and growing.
2012 chevrolet tahoe. Broken dash near the passenger air bag and drivers odometer.
2012 tahoe recently bought and has began cracking around the air bag and driver side as mentioned on previous post by other consumers. A concern if the air bag is deployed that shaprel will shoot out if in an accident. Vehicle was stationary and appeared out of nowhere.
There are cracks along the dashboard that seem as if they would cause a major safety issue launching pieces of the dash if the airbags deploy.
Badly cracked dash.
Dashboard cracking on driver side in two places and passenger side on airbag with no known cause.
Dash board cracked in 2 places over the last week. First crack occurred over the gauge clusters, and the second crack occurred over the passenger side airbag.
Exploding sunroof while driving in 34 degree weather at 60 mph, no vehicles around me and i was not going under an overpass.
Cracking dash by passenger air bag closet to the windsheild.
The top dashboard piece has multiple cracks in it similar to other reports made by consumers. One crack is next to the passenger airbag compartment, and another is at the base of the dashboard behind the steering wheel. No impact or accident cause these cracks; they simply appeared on the car and have continued to grow in size.
Dashboard has cracked and broke off.
With this.
Dashboard is cracked in 4 places.gm dealer says it will not be replaced under warranty and has not been recalled.
We own two chevy tahoe's, one is a 2008 and the other is a 2012. Both of them have cracking dashboards. I am highly concerned as the effect this could have on the airbags. Both vehicles are in very good condition except for the cracking dashboards.
The dashboard on my 2012 tahoe started cracking on the passenger side near the airbag.as a few weeks have gone by, the driver's side has started cracking too.the dash looks horrible and i have only had the car 1 month.i am worried that if i were in a wreck, the broken dash will fly off when the air bag deploys.
My dash is cracked and broken to the point it may collapse in the middle. I have cracks on both sides of the passenger airbag and another one above the speedometer that runs to the middle of the dash. It is cracked so badly across the length of the dash that it hangs loosely and rattles while driving. I have used a sunlight visor since buying the vehicle and i can assure you this damage is not my fault. I have looked at replacing the dash myself but cannot afford to do so right now and i am afraid it is going to collapse. This is a "mom" ride, i carry my kids in this vehicle. What would happen if we got into a wreck? would pieces of the dash fly off and possibly injure one of them? please help
Cracked dash on driver side, by defrosting vent
My door handles on the inside of my vehicle arr chrome. The chrome materil has started to peel away and has caused me deep cuts on the sides of my fingers after opening the door.
There are three cracks in the dash one over the instrument panel two over the passenger air bag
Dashboard crack near passenger airbag. The crack appeared out of nowhere. There wasn't any force to cause the damage. The crack was noticed while i was parked, i heard crackling sounds and that is when i noticed it. I looked online for a recall and chevrolet hasn't recalled it, although there are many complaints for this problem. I shouldn't have to pay out of pocket for their defect.
Our 2012 ltz tahoe only has 64,768 miles on it and is garage kept. We also keep a sunscreen in the window when it is sitting outside. We have started noticing cracks in the dashboard in 2 different places. We took it to the local chevrolet dealer and they said we would have to pay for replacement. Around $1000.00. I do not think we should have to pay for something that should be recalled seeing as though the internet is flooded with people having the same problem. I also feel this could be a safety issue since it is around the airbags!
2012 chevy tahoe has large cracks in the dash , and am concerned about safety.
A huge crack on drivers side and a smaller crack on passengers side dashboard
Dash has cracked within last month into the passenger airbag door. Concerned that deployment of passenger airbag would result in defective deployment or further breakage of dash causing danger to automobile passengers due to shards being broken during deployment.
Cracked dashboard. Please help, my dashboard is cracked in the middle corner by the passenger airbag. I put the screen up in my windshield when the car is parked in order to protect it from the sun and then one day while i was driving i heard a pop and the dash had a big crack all the way through it.
Dashboard cracked around air bags and on driver side
There are 2 cracks on the center dash on either side of the radio speaker.they appeared out of nowhere and are getting worse.
There is a crack in the dashboard next to the passenger airbag.
Cracked dash in passenger side beside airbag
Two issues:1. Dashboard cracked at airbag on passenger side and on drivers side.airbag deployment appears unsafe due to cracking.2. In hot and humid weather to, the traction and stability systems become inoperable and the message system requests that maintenance be performed.this message can come up a few minutes after driving or can come on right after starting the vehicle.
My dash board began to crack in several places.when i contacted the dealership they said there was a recall for that but it only went to year models up to 2011
Approximately 6 months ago the dash on the passenger side started to crack in my 2012 chevy tahoe.it has always been in a heated garage and out of the sunlight.on december 1, 2015 is the date i purchased the vehicle and the dealer talked me into putting a nano technology coating on the entire vehicle to keep it in like new condition, which cost me $899.i took it to the dealership and showed them and they were going to let me know if abra would fix it, however, after 2 months still no response from the dealership and i contacted them again yesterday.the other thing is the driver side door handle has cracked underneath and so when you close the door it feels like you are going to pull the door vinyl right off.i have never had anything like this happen before.
Dash is developing cracks , most concerning is the crack leading to the airbag on the passenger side
Dash above instrument panel just split. Also discovered crack on dash above passenger airbag.
Complaint #11400396 --- a mistake was made on tahoe milage.instead of 15000 miles, it was 150,000 miles instead. Please excuse me.
Two advancing cracks in the dash.
Dash cracking several around passenger airbag deployment
Multiple cracks in the dash and around air bags.multiple people have stated the dash is a problem in the avalanche, silverado and tahoe yet the dealership charges an astronomical amount to replace the dash.
The dash has cracked and i fear that in an accident parts of the dash to deflate airbag and orcausepersonal injury.general motors refuses to take responsibility.
When idling at a stop light the car continue to pull ahead as if i had my foot on the gas petal. 2nd item:developed a crack on the passengers side dash board close to the air bag cover.both items rattle when i'm driving.
Cracked dash near passenger airbag and in several areas not sure when this happened as i am not the original owner
Dash cracked by thepassenger side airbag
The vehicle was stationary when i noticed two big cracks on my dashboard.
The dashboard is cracking more and more each day
My dash is cracked right by airbag like other 1000's of gm trucks years 07-14. I have 75,000 miles on my tahoe currently and the crack appeared at 70,000 miles. This is a known problem, i belong to a group on facebook called 07-13 gm cracked dash and safety hazard and everyday there's new people who join the group with their cracked dashes most of them in the exact same spotright bythe airbag and others have where the entire dash has cracked and most seem to happen between 60,000 and 75,000 miles. This hazard could be devastating if an accident was to happen. My tahoe is in great condition gm needs to recall this hazard.
About a month or two my wife notices crack line about 4 inches on the drives side top of the dashboard, a week ago she noticed another crack had started on the passenger side going into the passengers air bag cover from the top vent, because this so close to the air bag i started to do some research, i found some complaints and something that said gm won't warranty this issue.i haven't brought it to the dealership yet because i thought it was nothing but now that is near the air bag i will, hope this helps anybody with the same issue or maybe i could get some more info in case this is not cover by gm
Dashboard cracked over instrument panel and at airbag panel. Car is only 4 years old!though protected by windshield deflector all the time during summer when parked.
Vehicle was stationary, cracks in dash developed next to airbagand over instrument panel, many owners have complained regarding having the same cracks in the same area, concern with crack near airbag - will airbag deploy properly when needed and/or will dash shatter when/if airbag is deployed
Both front door panels tear apart at door pulls ,arm rests. Could be rear door pulls will tear up if used very much. I know some friends, and others have the same problem ,pick up trucks also.
Ltz tahoe dash cracked. Above steering wheel and passenger airbag. Less than 37,000 miles. Stationary. Gm is refusing not to fix. This is a safety issue that needs to be fixed.
The dashboard has started cracking and it is at dealer now and they are telling me this is only one they ever heard of and they can do nothing about but it is a certified vehicle that i've only put 20some thousand miles on and it was sold to me with full warranty as a new one and after looking on several websites it seems that a lot of others have this problem, afraid if it keeps cracking it may get right into my instruments and electrical or worse continue into my airbag , surely there is something can be done about this and the distraction from the dashboard flopping up and down can lead to an accident, it only takes a moment for something bad to happen. Please if you are able to influence a decision about this, do so it could mean the difference in a life maybe
Cracked dashboard above steering column / instrument panel.
The traction and stabilitrak controls are coming on and staying we haven't found the problem yet but i noticed there was a recall on both at one point
My dash is cracked and running in 4 different places. Two on each side of passenger dash by air bag and two above my dash information panel.
The rear audio controller has a hum. When it is off the hum stops. It will also stare humming/buzzing when the turn signal is on. It does it randomly whether the vehicle is moving or not.
I have a crack on the dash and it is near to the passenger air bag lid. In case of a crash this is a risk. I am residente of costa rica. And the car was imported to costa rica. A contact phone in costa rica is: + (506) 8701-2196
Dashboard cracks at corner of passenger airbag and steering wheel cowling.
There is a large crack in the dashboard right up to the air bag. I don't know when or how it started. I looked at the dashboard and there was a crack.it seems to be getting bigger.i am afraid that if i am ever in an accident with a passenger the airbag will not deploy.
Dash is cracked over instrument panel, and 2 spots over the passenger side airbag. The cracks get bigger everyday and makes the dash rattle. Bought in 2016 and the cracks just keep getting worse. Along with the drivers side door handle that cracked inside.
I have had two cracks develop on the dash of my tahoe.i have not hit anything nor had an accident that would cause these cracks to appear.i believe the product used to create the dash was inferior which has caused the cracking.
Front inside door handle to pull door close plastic broke. To replace you need a whole new inside door panel just to replace the cracked pull handle.
Wow.
I currently own a 2012 tahoe that the dashboard has cracked over the drivers area and cracked in two place on the passenger airbag causing a serious safety issue should the airbag deploy it could seriously injure someone or kill them
Dashboard cracked in two different places. First near air bag and second near steering wheel. My steering wheel makes a squeaking noise ever so often. Took it in to chevrolet shop and they found nothing wrong.
Dashboard has cracked in two places, under its own weight.rattles excessively,gm refuses to do anything about it.it has been cracked since 2014 and has just started to rattle.
Dashboard keeps cracking by air bag compartmentand over the instrumentcluster
Cracked dashboard-cracks all above the instrument panel and around airbag
This vehicle was purchased new in 2012 and has been garaged for the entirety with the exception of various trips.the vehicle has approximately 41.000 miles at the time the cracked dash was discovered.there are no foreseeable reason for the dash to crack other than a failure in the manufacturer process.please advise.
Severe cracks in the dashboard
2012 tahoe dashboard cracked for the second time apparently due to defective material.dashboard was replaced less than one year after purchasing it and 2 years later it cracked again. Vehicle has not been involved in any accidents and cracks appeared for no known reason.there have been many reports from other owners of gm vehicles and gm has not had a recall.since the air bags are located in the dash, there could be a potential hazard if air bags are deployed. According to the dealership, gm is still using the same material and owners have to pay for part or all of the replacement after original 3-year manufacturer warranty.if it cracks again after one year of installation, we are looking at another repair bill!
Dash cracked in 2 places.
Cracked dash as many others have reported around airbag etc. This can cause some major injuries if airbags deploy.
My dash is severely cracked, including by where the passenger airbag deploys from the dash.am very concerned about splintering and causing harm in the event of deployment.
After 15 days of purchasing suv realize the two reartires were ripped from the sides, took it to the dealership and they said they needed to replace the tires, also brakes are making a lot of noise, they said brakes were dirty and they cleaned, noise never went away. We took the suv to the dealership on 07/25/2019 we purchase 06/28/2019... Dealer offered to only replace one tire, which we declined. On the 08/05/2019 one of the tired opened while driving and no longer work, had to buy two new tires since tire shop said it was extremely dangerous to use those tires
I have a crack dash in 3 or more spot and my wheels are cracking the chrome away
The traction and stabilitrak controls are coming on and staying we haven't found the problem yet but i noticed there was a recall on both at one point
