Read complaints for CHEVROLET TAHOE (2011)

Dash board is cracking for no apparent reason. It has cracked on the drivers side as well as around the area where the air bag is kept. My fear is that because of the cracks the air bag could possibly deploy with no warning while driving and cause me to have accident or to cause an accident. There have been numerous reports on the gm model 2007 - 2014 tahoes, yukons and trucks that the dashboards are cracking in the same areas on all of the vehicles around the air bag.

Nothing has happened, thankfully, but these vehicles have the takata airbags and we still aren't able to get them repaired.how long until there is action.commercials tell us to get the repairs done, but we can't yet.

Takata air inflators cannot get repaired...no remedy for defected part....no incident at this time but i carry my precious grandchildren in my car on a daily routine...

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe.the contact received nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called the midway chevrolet dealer located at 2323 w bell rd, phoenix, az 85023; phone number: (602) 773-0688 who stated that the remedy parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact did not experience a failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

I have two cracks in the dashboard.one is on the passenger side right near the airbag and one in one the drivers side.i have read many complainants about this issue and it puzzles me why chevy would not do a recall.my 2011 is very well taken care of so it is not neglect on my part.

While driving on city streets several days ago i heard a loud popping sound as if an object has hit the windshield.after stopping to inspect for damage and not finding any glass cracks or chips i drove on.shortly thereafter i noticed a noise coming from the dash area and found that the center portion of the dashboard at the radio speaker was loose due to fact that the tab which is designed to hold the center fastener was broken by the weight and movement of the speaker.upon further examination i found that the dashboard was cracked at the upper left hand corner of the airbag compartment on the passenger side.the vehicle was taken to a local gm dealer this morning due to safety concerns with regards to the air bags either being deployed accidentally or in the event of a real accident, damage to the air bags due to the broken edges of the plastic dash material.furthermore, personal injury could occur as a result of flying debris from the loose, broken or brittle plastic pieces immediately adjacent to the air bag compartment.according to the local dealer they are and have been aware of these type of failure to the dash components for several years (dating back to 2005) on this vehicle but to date they have issued no bulletins or recall notices.this information is also documented here on your website where i was able to find at least 15 similar complaints filed with nhtsa within just the last 24 months most of which identify the exact same location of failure to be the upper left hand corner of the dash adjacent to the air bag compartment.it seems obvious that gm has no desire to address this issue on their own without being pushed to do so.your attention to this issue would be greatly appreciated by many, many gm owners.

My dash board has split from my front passenger airbag to the defrost vent. Dashboard is pulling away and vibrates excessively. There was nor accident or incident. I just happened to notice one day. The date selected is just an guess.

The contact was able to drive the vehicle in the interim despite the recall being issued. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

The dashboard has developed a crack next to the passenger airbag cover.this is a widespread manufacturer's defect for this type of gm vehicle.however, gm refuses to instate a recall to address it's customer's concerns.with the plastic of the dashboard compromised, a deployment of the airbag could send fragments of plastic into the cabin.

Multiple cracks across the dashboard have formed, in some cases completely bisecting the dashboard pieces.i'm concerned that if the airbags are deployed or in the event of a crash these sharp pieces of plastic will become projectiles.i was just quoted a price of $1400 by my dealer to replace the dash, but it seems this is a common problem.

Takata inflators. It has now been over a year the airbag on my vehicle has still not been replaced. I was put on notice it could cause me harm yet no remeedy has been found. Clearly the airbag needs to be replaced so that my family is safe. Now i get notice that tk holdings has filed chapter 11 bankruptcy. What does this mean for me and my family and our safety. We now have a 40k vehicle that is not safe to drive and have no recourse? chevrolet should be liable an required to replace my airbags so that i don't have to fear if i am in an accident the airbag may kill me or my passenger.what is being done to have the airbag replaced? every time i call the dealer they say there is nothing can be done i want this fixed now.

I believe this is a safety hazard due to the possibility of an airbag injury.

Takata recall. My 2011 vehicle has been in the very high humidity of central florida its entire life. Nhtsa and gm said there would be a decision by august 2017. I called my chevrolet dealer today (10/19/2017) and was told there is no recall and a remedy is not yet available. I feel very vulnerable continuing to operate this vehicle in a very hot and humid environment. When are we going to get a decision and remedy?

I took my tahoe to herndon chevrolet to be detailed. Within 24 hrs after the detailing, there was a crack in the dash touching the airbag and to over the steering wheel.

Gm dealer states they are unable to replace the defective air bag in my vehicle.apparently, gm has filed a request with nhtsa to extend date recalls are to start.what is nhtsa's position, specifically, is gm exempt or allowed to ealay replacement action?

Takata recall. My 2011 chevrolet tahoe needs its airbag to be replaced. My dealership "lynch chevrolet of auburn, al said they cannot replace, they know nothing about a replacement airbag for my vehicle. No help at all even though i bought it from them.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact received recall letter for nhtsa campaign number: 16v384000 (air bags) in july of 2016. I attempted to trade in my truck and was told that since my car has an open recall, the value is greatly decreased. Why is the governement allowing me to drive a vehicle that could potentially cause me harm and not properly protect me in the event of a wreck

Dashboard is cracked from the corner of the passenger airbag cover to the seam in the dash panel need the defroster. We were involved in a rear end accident and the crack appeared after the accident. I'm concerned it could affect the air bag deploying.

My dash is cracking and breaking around my airbag. This seems like it could be very dangerous in a crash. I'm worried that either the airbag won't deploy as it should or if it does, there will be shards of plastic dash flying around in the cab. Nothing happened to the dash, it just started cracking.

Received a safety recall from chevrolet in june 2016 concerning defective takata airbag inflators. The recall stated i would be notified when parts are available to remedy the problem. It is now august 2019 and no one has contacted me about the recall. I am concerned about the safety of my family members.

Cracks on dashboard one above speedometer and the other on left side of passenger airbag.i am afraid if i'm in an accident that airbag won't deploy or pieces will shatter and fly into passenger.

I have a large crack going down the dashboard of my truck the stems directly from the passenger airbag. I have contacted both the dealer as well as chevrolet regarding this issue and have not been able to find a solution. I am concerned that if there would be some sort of an accident where the airbag deployed, my dash would either improperly support the airbag at explosion or pieces of scrap plastic would fly around the cabin

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated while his wife was driving 25 mph, when all six air bags on the driver's and passenger's side panels inadvertently deployed. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated no one was injured or sought medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer mike reichenbach chevrolet (10 university pkwy, okatie, sc 29909, (877) 846-8391) where the dealer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 21v050000 (air bags). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and had the vehicle investigated. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.*dt

Dashboard cracked at airbag and also near steering column, instrument panel for no reason

I received a notice today stating that the airbags on my 2011 chevy tahoe are defective and need to be replaced. I understand replacement of the defective bags would be at no cost to me.please let me know what to do next. My local chevy dealer is delillo chevrolet, here in huntington beach, california.dave weige

Dashboard has cracked in multiple places (joint near passenger airbag & several places above instrument panel on driver side). We're concerned that a front end impact accident could cause a piece to shear off and cause damage to either the airbags or the passangers that they are supposed to protect. Dashboard has already been replaced once at our expense. Vehicle has mostly been garage kept.

Dashboard just cracked while driving city street

Dash is cracking around passenger side airbag and the instrument cluster. This is unsafe because in the event of passenger airbag deploying, shards of cracked dash can become projectiles. Many complaints on internet about same issue, no resolution from gm.

The dashboard on my tahoe has began to crack.it originally began to crack on the drivers side and has spread up over the control panel.last week i noticed a crack on the passenger side that leads right to the airbag.now that the airbag is involved i definitely feel that this is a major safety hazard.seeing the widespread complaints about this happening to others i feel this should be a recall.$70,000 vehicles should not have plastic dashboards that crumble away. Updated 09/09/15*lj

I own a 2011 tahoe that has been kept in the garage and is in immaculate condition. I have 2 cracks on my dashboard; one on the upper left-hand side of my passenger side airbag and the other right behind my steering wheel. This crack is actually branching into two cracks now. I have some serious concerns regarding the safety of my vehicle in the event i am in a collision and my airbags need to be deployed. This cracked dash seems to be a common issue in tahoes from at least 2007 and newer andi am concerned that gm has done nothing to recall this issue, especially considering how far back it appears to be affecting vehicles. My concern is the possibility of lack of airbag deployment and/or shards of sharp plastic flying through the air in the event of a collision causing injury to passengers or, in the event my airbags do deploy, a compromise to the effectiveness of their deployment due to puncture. It is apparent the dash is defective by the number of similar issues reported by customers. It is apparent that the dash is already compromised due to these cracks and gm needs to consider the safety issues posed with this defect.

Takata recall. I have contacted gm twice since august 26, 2016, and they have not corrected the problem yet. Thank god, no accident yet.

Cracked dash above airbag and instrument cluster.

Hi. My 2011 chevy tahoe "service airbag" light is on. My vin # is [xxx]. I found a recall for it on the chevy website but it says its 'recall incomplete, remedy not yet available'. I believe they have failed to remedy this safety recall for my vehicle in a timely manner. Date of recall: may 27,2016manufacturer recall number 2049151nhtsa recall number 16v381.im just wondering if there is anything you can do to help?since my "service airbag" light is on now i feel very unsafe driving the vehicle as the recall states the following: the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries.separately and additionally, the dash has cracked all the way across the width of the vehicle.it is cracked on the cover to the airbag as well.there was no accident.it just cracked one day. A class action lawsuit has been filed and i have attached the pdf.clearly this is a problem that is happening to alot of people. A cracked dashboard could compound the severity of a car crash and it could shatter into pieces upon airbag deployment and send shards of dashboard flying at both the driver and their passengers. Between the airbag recall and the dash cracking it is very unsafe to drive.gm is unwilling to help me.please let me know what immediate action can be taken so myself and my passengers are safe when i'm driving.thanks!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc

The dash in my car cracked for no reason.what concerns me is that the crack is next to the airbag on the passenger side.if this airbag were to deploy it could cause the broken pieces of dash to turn into projectiles causing a dangerous if not deadly injury. This vehicle has never been on anything but smooth paved roads.the vehicle only has 61,200 miles on it.we were on an interstate when this occurred.

For over two years i have not received a recall for replacement ofair bags. Gm recall number 2049151 said waiting for remedy from manufacturer, what the heck is taking so long long ?

The dash is cracking. Vehicle looks brand new except for the dash. Starting to get cracks on each side. What i have seen, this is an on going problem.

We have tried to have the takata airbags replaced but so far no luck, we bought vehicle about 2 years ago, and it does not feel safe driving it like that. No peace of mind. Also called the dealer, we got the same answer.

'takata recall'received an important safety recall(gm recall 49151) in july 2016since then i call every year to check on the status of the recall and they always tell me there is no need to take action now. It has been over 3 years now since this defect has not been available to remedy my vehicle. I believe that this time frame has been long enough to make my vehicle safe again, so my question is how many more years do i have to wait and is my truly vehicle safe?

Takata recall. Suspected defective takata airbag and i have a cracked dashboard which has been reported by thousands of gm customers

Dashboard is cracked on both sides driver and passenger and general motors refuses to pay for it!! this should require a recall and the nhtsa has done absolutely nothing this could be life threatening!i

I have noticed 2 cracks on the dashboard, one over the instrument panel and the other on the right corner just in front of the passenger side airbag compartment(crack extends out from the airbag compartment) on my dashboard. I am very concerned that airbag will not deploy correctly if i were in an accident or that the dashboard will splinter and cause severe injury if the airbag deployed.

Takata recall. When i took it to the dealer they said the company that made the airbag filed for bankruptcy. I ask about replacing the airbag and she said they don't have any they would have to order more and they would let me know when more came in. That is the same thing they told me two years ago. I now have a airbag warning light and took it in to the dealer. She told me the same thing all over again.

Takata recall. This is no resolution and it effects the resale value as well. I'm driving a vehicle that is deemed as possibly unsafe andgm has no solution. I believe there should be a class action lawsuit for punitive damages. I have tried to trade my vehicle and the dealership has stated that they can not resell my vehicle.

Takata recall - received notice of recall 07/2016, still have never received notice there is a fix for this recall. Meantime, anyone riding in my vehicle is at danger. When will a fix be available now especially with takata threatening bankruptcy?

Takata recall: dealerships will not take action and fix the airbag.

Takata recall, air bag service light now on. Recall open since 2016, need to know why its taking so long to complete recall. Wonder if my air bag srvice light activation is related to recall issues and if safe to drive? gm dalers offering no assitance in matter, only suggest a $135 diagnostice evaluation.

Dash has cracked in (2) places that could cause safety issues with air bags if bags were needed to deploy. Vehicle has 38k miles and has always been garage kept, so sunlight damage and armor all protectant are not the problem.

I have taken my car to the dealers several times to fix the airbag recall. They say that it is a recall and they cant do anything about it.so what do i do to get it fix.

There is a crack in the left upper side of the dash where the passenger airbag is. This happened with around 60k miles on it.

Nothing has happened but i don't want to get to that point. When is this takata airbag recall going to be resolved? it has been over 3 years since it was put out. I would like some answers. If i wait for an incident to occur, it will be too late. My wife sits at that passenger seat and we live in georgia where it is very hot and humid. All of these conditions suggests a high probability that an incident may occur. Please reach and assure your customers that a fix is in the works and not ghost the population that owns and operates these vehicles everyday. Thank you.

Takata recall. The chev dealer claims they do not have repair kits. A year and a half later. Do we have to be injured first ?they are not pushing the issue, the gov needs to add pressure

I just bought my used 2011 chevy tahoe. After i drove it home i noticed that the dashboard under the windshield keeps jumping bad due to 2 cracks. My concern is that it may cause the airbag to deploy. The dearship says i bought it as-is and i feel it is a safety issue that should have been repaired before sale.

My airbag light turned on about 9 months ago, i took it to the car dearship and they advise that the airbag infact have a recall, but they dont have the fix.what is this?how can i pay so much for a vehicle to drive unsave, that at any minute they could deflate, or if something happens i could be killed in an accident, because of their malfunction.i need a resolution on this matter asap.i have 2 kids and i drive 1 hour to work and back six days a week.

" takata's recall" my dealership keeps telling me my gm2011 chevrolet tahoe is not included in recall, but i'm really sure it is. Takata recall -general motors and their authorized dealers have refused to replace the faulty passenger air bag on our 2011 chevrolet tahoe even though its been recalled in 2016. The nhtsa recall number is 16v381 and manufacturer recall number is 2049151 and even though their is a recall for our vehicle's air bag, all of the general motors dealers we contacted said nothing was being done to recall the faulty air bag and that the car was "safe to drive" which is unacceptable. I want to resolve my defective airbag problem with our vehicle but i am powerless to force general motors to correct the problem without expensive litigation. I refuse to accept the statement of "your vehicle is safe to drive" from general motors and their dealerships knowing that our car could be a potential death trap in the future.

The dash is cracking on passenger side and driver side.and the cracks keep growing.the add washer fuel light stays on and there is fluid in the reservoir.

Cracked dashboard.airbag deployment may cause deadly plastic debris flying about.

The dash board around the airbag is cracked.i have found on the internet this has been a known problem with these cars in this year.i am in fear that if the airbag deploys the dashboard could fly off and injure a member of my family.i don't understand why nothing has been done concerning these dashboards with all of the complaints...... I guess it takes someone to be killed for someone to take action!!!!!!

Dashboard is cracked. Concerned about safety in the event the airbag deploys.the vehicle has not been in any accidents.no chemical or cleaner has ever been applied to the dash. It looks like a stress crack or manufacturer defect.

Takata recall - recall was issued may 27, 2016 for passenger side airbag - 16v381.gm has no information when parts will be available for the repair and i was told they are waiting for the nhtsa to approve the replacement procedure and parts.when will the parts be available? i also have a 2011 toyota corolla with the same issue and no answers. It has been 6 months and we have no answers from nhtsa!please act.

Dashboard cracking around airbag may cause dangerous debris if the airbag is deployed in a crash

Dash on 2011 chevrolet tahoe has cracked on the passenger side next to the airbag panel.dash has also cracked on the driver side above the instrument panel cluster.concern is that in a car accident where the air bags deploy the dash board may break apart and become shrapnel causing additional injury, permanent disability, or death to the passenger.

The dash board has cracked at several places, including where the passenger side air bags it happened sometime in sept'2015, even though thetahoe always is parked in shade (under the porte cochere) or in the garage.i have called gmac and the dealer several times i have been asked to pay out of pocket $800 for a manufacturing defect as this is a common complaint, on chevy dashboards.

Dash is cracking around passenger side airbag. This is unsafe because in the event of passenger airbag deploying, shards of cracked dash can become projectiles. Many complaints on internet about same issue, no resolution from dealer or gm customer service.

Shortly after buying my used tahoe a crack developed near the corner of the passenger airbag, forming a "y" shape which leaves a small, sharp piece of potential shrapnel if the airbag were to deploy.i fear this issue could cause potentially fatal outcomes due to the likelihood of the brittle plastic becoming flying shrapnel in the event of an accident and airbag deployment.this is a well reported and well known issue with all gmt900 vehicles.gm needs to recall these dashboards!

My 2011 chevy tahoe ltz dashboard fractured completely through the plastic adjacent to the passenger airbag and progressively rattled until it separated.it then cracked in the area in front of the steering wheel and continues to rattle and the crack is getting longer.the area of the dash between these 2 cracks rattles violently when driving on the highway and i am severely concerned about shards of the dash becoming detached in a collision and injuring me or an occupant of my car.i am also concerned that the deployment of the airbag will be compromised and may itself cause the dash to shatter and create sharp projectiles in a collision.this occurred organically over time and was not caused by a single event in time.there are thousands of other trucks with same model dash as mine that all have the same cracks in the same areas.this is an obvious defect that gm has refused to address.i have contacted gm corporate and been sent to the local dealer.i have contacted multiple local dealers that have all stated this is not an issue that gm is addressing even though they have all seen dozens of vehicles with the same issues.my vehicle is otherwise in perfect condition and i am very concerned that this defect will compromise the safety of my family and has lowered the value should i choose to sell the vehicle.i hope that the nhtsa can acknowledge what gm refuses to and force them to replace these faulty dash boards.

I bought my 2011 chevrolet tahoe about 4 years ago (used, but in great condition) - within a month my dash had cracked. Nothing that i did at all! my normal driving everyday keeps me with 20-30 miles maximum, on very well made roads (nothing extreme). I paid to get it fixed (the first time) and now 4 years later and it has cracked again. After the first time i paid to get it fixed, they actually didn't install the dash correctly and then said that it was my fault that it was messed up and demanded that i pay for it. I refused and said that i was done with it. It's a safety hazard because it's right above my airbags, and like i said, this is the second time in 4 years that my dashboard has cracked.

My dashboard has cracked above both the driver and passenger airbags. While looking to see if these cracks are repairable i learned that this is an issue with certain tahoes (between certain years) and could be a safety issue concerning airbag deployment and was advised to report it here. (i don't think it pertains to my issue, but my vehicle was stationary at the time the cracks appeared)

Takata recall.this vehicle has recall airbags.gm foot dragging claiming "no parts" but other manf appear to have.endemic problem with cracked dash on gm vehicles makes danger airbags even more threat for front seat pax.this vehicle dash replaced once already.gm refuses to pay but this is a safety hazard.

Typical chevy tahoe dash cracking issue. It worries me that if i am in an accident that sharp pieces of plastic may cause more harm to someone inside the cabin than if it was addressed and repaired. Gm is at fault for using cheap materials and the consumer shouldn't have to pay. It isn't caused by anything that the owner of the vehicle is or isn't doing. Purely material and manufacturing defects. We pay $50k for these trucks each the least gm could do is spend the $500 if that per vehicle to replace it.

Dash is cracking around passenger airbag and above instrument cluster.concerned that if airbags went off dash pieces would impale driver and/or passengers.

My dash board is cracked in two places.it cracked to the dome part over the gauges and it cracked to my passenger side airbag.i do not feel safe transporting people in the passenger side.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) and stated that the remedy and part were not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The contact had not yet called the dealer and the manufacturer had not sent a second notice indicating that the part was available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact was not experiencing a failure. The dash on my vehicle has broken 2x and is broken again causing the dash to allow an opening where items can fall into the airbag compartment causing the bag to malfunction.

There is a major crack that appeared on the dashboard at the base of the steering section, closest to the windshield.

Came out to take the kids to school and there was a crack in my dash near the passenger air bag.crack appeared over night, car was parked in oceanside ca.concern for passenger and flying debris or if airbag will even work properly.this seems to be a common problem.

Takata recall- my service airbag light recently came on shortly after starting the vehicle. This is the second time this problem has occurred over the past two summers. The first time this problem occurred i brought my vehicle to the dealership where they preformed a airbag scan. I was told no codes were present. The airbag light was then reset and i haven't had any issues until recently. I have read about the known potentially deadly issues associated with the passenger airbag deflators. I live in houston tx where the summers hot and humid. I have read that these areas are at greater risk due to issues arising in hot and humid climates. I plan on bringing my car back to the dealership soon. I'm sure i will be told that since the recall is pending i will be responsible for paying for the repairs. I'm a father of two... Does takata want families to role the dice with loved ones lives while paperwork is filed or parts become available??? how many lives have to be lost before there is a solution to this recall?

Takata recallmy local dealer says chevy has not provided the dealers with replacement parts

Dash is cracked in tow seperate areas. One above the steering wheel, and one above the passenger side air bag. This causes a major safety concern, in that if i was in an accident and the air bags deployed, flying debris could harm myself and my children. This cracks happened for no apparent reason, other than being cheaply made and installed. The vehicle was stationary and not touched when these cracks occurred.

Just bought the car about 3 months ago wit only 53000 mike more less and within the past month the dash has started cracking one of the cracks is so close on the edge to the airbag that i have a fear the the air bag system might fail or even get cut on deployment due to a accident and some can get very hurt due to failure on designof dashboard and dealer won't even cover it under warranty and no recall has been done car is less than 5 years old and only has 55000 miles for this to break and with time it will only get worse

A recall was issued and nothing has been done to correct our airbags yet.are these recalled airbags safe?

Airbag recall but gm is not making any effort to replace the airbag.dash is cracked and appears to be a manufacturing defect.

Itook my vehicle to don ringler chevrolet, temple, tx as soon as i received the recall notification, in 2016. I was told that they did not have the parts available , they would call me when they get the parts. I call them once a month and i went by last week and they are telling me the parts are still not in

I received notice about airbag recall and called the dealer and was told that there was no remedy for my vehicle at this time and there is no known date for a remedy. I was told to wait until i receive another notice about the airbag recall for this issue to be remedied.

My dashboard is cracked in two locations. The speaker in the dashboard has been serviced once by the dealership and is the only time the dashboard has been touched.nothing has been done on my part to jeopardize the integrity of the dashboard. An internet search shows that this is a common problem in tahoe's. I have received no reasonable explanation for the damage along with no reasonable fix ($1,500!!!!). I have had my vehicle serviced religiously at the dealership and at no point was i made aware that this was or could become an issue. Now they tell me to file an insurance claim!?!? date this occurred is unknown and has been estimated to best of my recollection.

Dashboard cracked in two places like many other 2007-2011 gm. Concerned of safety issue if airbags were to deploy.plastic from dash could injure or possibly pierce airbag rendering it useless.

Cracks appearing on the dashboard. Tahoe is gently used and garaged. Severe vibrations of the dashboard, when driving, is causing the cracks. The central speaker on the dash also vibrates.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard had extensive cracks on the front drivers and front passenger side near the glove box associated with the air bag components. In addition, the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) and the parts had not yet been supplied from the manufacturer to the dealer so the contact was unable to determine when the air bag recall may be performed. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Dash around airbags and steering column is cracked. Noticed one about a year ago but it has grown much bigger and now a bigger crack is on the other side of the vehicle (noticed today). Concerned if in accident and the airbags deploy the cracked dash will splinter into flying plastic shards. Online research indicates this is a recurring problem with this generation of chevy tahoe. Have owned vehicle since purchased new.

Hi i currently own a 2011 chevy tahoe lt model with 78,547 mile on it and the dash is crarcked around the passenger airbag and over the instrument clusterand which i think might comprimise the airbag on deployment which would put my children and passengers at risk of a fatality in the event that an accident occurs and gm should recall this problem its not just mine but most all gm models 07-13are affectedby this and we as the customers are concerned with our passengers safety and would like to get this recalled before something fatal does occur thanks .

There is a serious safety risk which is not being addressed by my local chevy dealer. The propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries. I have a three year old son and am in the process of trying to have another child. If i do get pregnant and the airbag deploys i could be killed along with my unborn child. This needs to be addressed immediately for the safety of myself and family.

The dashboard cracked between the air bag and the dash vent while the vehicle was parked.the second crack, above the driver controls occurred while the defroster was running and while driving on the interstate traveling at approximately 65-mph.

Top of dashboard cracked - no accident involved.i have concerns about the airbag working properly now.dealer wants $1,000 to fix it.

Crack appeared yesterday (06/21/16) in the dash - at the upper left corner of the passenger airbag compartment.

I am the original owner of a 2011 chevrolet tahoe.the dash is cracked next to the passage side air bag and by the instrument cluster on the driver side.i am concerned if the air bag deploys on the passenger sidethe dash will exploded and send shrapnel at the passenger.

I have had an airbag recall notice for about 18 months. Numerous calls to gm and dealer who say "no parts available". Do i have to wait to be injured to get this fixed?

My tahoe was parked when i noticed 2 cracks onthe left hand corner by the passenger side airbag on my dashboard. I also have a really large crack on the dashboard abovethe instrument panel . I am concerned that airbag will not deploy correctly if i were in an accident.

Takata recall.autonation chevrolet will not fix my airbags.they keep telling me that the parts are not in.it's been going on between 1-2 yrs now.

2 issues---1st--dashboard has cracks in it, which 1 crack is on the passenger side. It could be a safety hazard and cause the airbag to explode causing great harm to a person.these cracks are in the same position as many other consumers who have made complaints.2nd--engine shuts down while driving; no steering or brake control. Radio shuts off & on, all dashcomponents flicker on and off, gauges turn off, door locks engage & disengage. This happens for 3-10 seconds and then will "reset" and function normal. I've looked at different forums to try to find out what could be causing this and many other people are experiencing this issue.

There is a recall, no gm has not issued a solution to replace the airbags.safety issue plus dashboard cracked on passenger side at the seam where the airbag is located.dealership does not have an answer to resolve problem.

Dash has cracked around passenger air bag . If airbag is deployed could send piecesinto passenger. Seems is a common problem .

Dash has cracked around passenger air bag. Afraid it will easily deploy. Just noticed this 2" crack about a month ago. No reason to have cracked.

Dash is cracked is several areas

I own a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. My dash began to crack completely from one end to the other. I called the dealer today, george chevrolet in bellflower ca, and i spoke with the service manager jose. Of course my tahoe is included in the takata recall and no parts for it are available yet. I did ask him about the recall and then i explained the problem with my dash. It is so badly cracked now it seems to me that the airbags are not secure at all as the cracks have made the entire dash loose. I was told there was no recall and i am no longer under warranty so nothing could be done. I am the original owner of the tahoe and have taken excellent care of the vehicle since i purchased it in 2011. It seems to me that there are many complaints about this issue so i hope someone will review and consider a recall. The cracking began at about 22k miles.i am unable to select the button below, but please contact me asap if there is a recall.

Takata recall -i would like the airbags replaced due to this recall.

No resolution has been made in over a year & this is a serious issue that could injury or death to anyone in my car including myself or my young children.

Driving ~25 mph in residential area, all side air bags deployed for no reason. Nothing was hit by the vehicle and nothing hit the vehicle. One passenger driving vehicle.

I contacted a chevrolet dealership to have my vehicle serviced as it relates to the recall for the airbags. I was told that the remedy is not available because there are no parts yet. If something were to happen and the airbags deploy, my passengers and i could be in very bad shape. This complaint is about the recall being issued; no way to service our vehicles. This is not acceptable! i need to have my vehicle serviced asap

'service airbag' message appeared on my dashboard screen. Possibly connected to numerous cracks on passenger and driver side. Vehicle has approximately 90k miles. Cracks appeared when it had approximately 40k miles. Dealer said it was not covered at that time.

Three dash board cracks appeared on the dash overnight. One crack near drivers dash area under windshield, two others on passenger side of dash by the airbag. Concerned this could cause issues with airbag deployment or cause proper operation issues. This tahoe was perfectly fine, came out to car overnight and noticed the cracks.

Dash cracked , could send pieces into face in a crash .

Dashboard cracking and it is looking unsafe if airbags deploy.

My car is one of the many vehicles that are being driven on a daily basis risking the life of my family because whoever is in charge of this recall has not done enough to fix the problem regarding this flawed airbags that make us play russian roulette withwith our life's everyday that we have to drive our cars to go to work or pick up our kids from school. We have been waiting for a repair since we bought our car on may 2017. Buying american does not sound like a viable option anymore. So far we have driven this death trap for about 26000 miles. Every morning both of us as drivers pray that that day won't be the day the air bags inflate if we get in a fender bender

A airbag recall issued may 27, 2016 and records show there is still not a remedy for this recall

There is an airbag recall that chevy is unwilling to fix. My families safety is at risk. Please do something about this!

'takata recall'

Takata recall. Nhtsa expiration date on gm's filing of inconsequentiality has passed without further information being provided to owners. Unable to get replacement scheduled through any dealership. Unable to get amplifying information. Gm says it is safe, but the recall is still outstanding without resolution.

Dashboard is cracked in front of the driver.hard plastic knife like structure are exposed to passengers.also cracked on the passenger side airbag area. Chevrolet states it is cosmetic.this is potentially a hazard for the occupants.

Takata recall: i received a "important safety recall" notice from gm dated july 2016. Have not received a fix to the problem. Now i received 10/26/2017 a notice that the company takata is filling chapter 11 bankruptcy. I'm not pleased with gm leaving their customers hanging. I didn't buy the car from takata i bought it from gm. The dealer said there's nothing they can do until gm informs them on what to do.

Dealerships don't have the airbags for replacement due to the company takata does not have a resolution.

My dash board in my vehicle is cracking for no reason!it is cracking in 2 different spots. One in front of driver but the one that really concerns me is the one on passenger side. The crack goes to the air bag and i'm so scared my bag will deploy randomly like the crack appeared or if it deploys upon impact sharp hard plastic edges can be harmful! this is not just cosmetic and even if it were chevrolet needs to be held accountable!

Tahoe dash recall: copy of letter sent to gm...chevrolet customer assistance centerp.o. Box 33136detroit, mi 48323-5136on 7/18/2011 we purchased a 2011 tahoe (vin #[xxx]) replacing our previous 2003 tahoe, both purchased new and both at ed morse chevrolet located at 14401 w. Sunrise blvd., sunrise, florida 33323-3202. Although i have had some quality and workmanship complaints, our tahoe has been a reliable vehicle. The service at ed morse has also been outstanding. However, i must register my dissatisfaction with two obviously defective items on the tahoe that general motors have not considered it important enough to conduct a recall. My 2011 tahoe is fitted with the "regional value package" which included "chrome door handles" which is nothing but chrome looking plastic. These "chrome" door handles have cracked two times and have been replaced on june 8th. 2013 (invoice #[xxx]) and june 21st. 2014 (invoice # [xxx]) under the factory warranty.on october 15th. 2013 at 17,198 miles, the dashboard to my 2011 tahoe cracked. This was covered under my factory warranty. My tahoe is now at ed morse chevrolet getting the dashboard replaced again due to it cracking in the same exact place. Unfortunately, this time i'm being told that they will be charging me a "co-payment" of $200 to replace the dash. After doing some research, it's obvious that both the door handles and the dashboards on the tahoe and similar models have a defective design and inferior materials. I should not be charged a $200 "co-payment" to fix something that general motors knows is a defective part.there are numerous postings, blogs and threads that refer to these "defective items" especially on the dashboard.even facebook has a page dedicated to the cracked dashboards.https://www.facebook.com/groups/gmdashcrack/?fref=nfinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was driving west on rio rd. In charlottesville, va, at roughly 35 mph. At approximately 6:00 pm, a deer emerged from the passenger side of the vehicle. It happened instantaneously and avoiding the deer was not an option. Immediately after striking the deer at the front right bumper (underneath headlight), the side airbags deployed in my 2011 chevy tahoe. However, the airbag that was suppose to deploy from the drivers seat (on the side near seatbelt) did not deploy. Additionally, the front two airbags (from steering wheel and dashboard) did not deploy as well. Moreover, approximately three months back, another family member also hit a deer with the same vehicle (2011 chevy tahoe) and at that time no airbags deployed. In this incident the vehicle was traveling 70 mph and the deer struck the left side of the front bumper and no airbags deployed. At the time, we didn't even think about defective airbags, but now, we are very, very concerned that there's a defect. We simply do not know what to do. I have contacted chevrolet directly and they assure me someone will come out and look at the vehicle this week sometime. I would be relieved if someone from the nhtsa also investigates these two scenarios. What is chevrolet's responsibility to me and my family in these two cases? and what is the best course of action?furthermore, i can arrange for my insurance adjustor to gather any documentation from the first incident (where airbags did not deploy) such as photos, reports and provide them to you. The vehicle is sitting in my driveway because i am waiting for a chevrolet representative to come and inspect it. I would appreciate your prompt action in this matter. Thank you!

I noticed about a month ago that my tahoe dashboard was cracked on two spots.

My dashboard is cracking in two places now.my concern is that the crack near the passenger airbag will affect it's effectiveness in a crash.i've contacted the dealership & gm and been told they will not fix it.

While the vehicle was stationary, the dashboard cracked just above the instrument panel.there are 2 cracks.one is about 4 inches while the other is about two inches.after some research, it appears this is a very common problem with gm vehicles.

The manufacturer was also contacted and confirmed that the parts were unavailable for the repair, and no specific date was determined for when the parts would become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Dashboard is separating and rattling near passenger airbag

I purchased a used tahoe in august 2014 with 42k miles on it. At the time of purchase the dash above the passenger side airbag had a small crack, approx 1.5 inches. Since then the crack spread to about 2 inches and i have noticed a crack on the driver side dash as well. The driver side crack started small but extends about 4 inches. Everyone i know that owns a tahoe or silverado manufactured in 2009 - 2011 have the same issue. Why is this not being repaired at dealer cost? the cracked dash is a serious safety issue should the passenger side airbag deploy. The plastic then becomes projectiles.

Stability control warning light began flashing.instrument panel including all gauges stopped working.stopped the vehicle, waited and restarted it.instrument panel and gauges began working.from then on instrument panel and all gauges worked only intermittently.after a few weeks gauges stopped working completely.i was unable to determine, speed, amount of fuel, could not tell if the turn signals were working, back up warning sound was not working, cruise control did not work.dealer said the entire gauge panel required replacement.the vehicle has just under 50,000 miles.

While i was driving on 678 highway my traction control and stabilik turned off and the engine mode light turned causing my truck drop in speed from 55 to 40. Had to pull over and shut the truck off and was able to make it home.

Vehicle instrument panel turns on and off upon start up and while driving causing driver to not know how fast one is going, it they have gas, etc. This is a common known issue which affect many gm owners as well as the gm brand.

'takata recall'

Stabilitrak and abs light comes on while driving, the door locks go crazy, radio goes in and out and you lose the ability to accelerate. Engine acts like it wants to die out. The first time i had it taken in, they said it was a sensor so i paid $600 to have it fixed. 6 months later it started doing the same thing so the same sensor was replaced again. One month later my tahoe is doing the exact same thing and now the dealership says it's a short. I don't think they know what's going on and they are just trying different things to see if it works, so now i am out of pocket over $1000 for them to keep guessing what going on.

Driving on highway at night. Go to high beams and motor immediately begins to rev up/down, and run erratic. Switch beams to normal position=it stops. When depressing key fob to open and close doors, it only works frequently. Bizarre electrical issue....

While driving approximately after 30 minutes, the vehicle would have power issues causing erratic behavior. Example, while traveling on interstate at about 70mph the issues would happen when pressing the brakes or turning on a blinker, the vehicle's door looks cycled several times, it would create a startling pop immediately through the speakers, the radio cut off and restarted. While attempting to pull off interstate, the engine then started to stutter loosing power. Stabilitrack and abs lights came on. After safely pulled over, cut vehicle off. Restarted vehicle, no issues or power problems. Problem would then randomly happen. Random no power issues - like battery was disconnected. Tested batter - it was ok. Problem became sporadic and random. Dtc showed random issues with electronic brake control module (c0710 -steering position sensor), park assist module (u0073, b1325 - device power 1 circuit malfunction)and passenger presence system (b1000- ecu malfunction)identified grounds to be very bad condition at battery negative toengine and frame, and driver side under body ground at the frame.

Our tahoe accelerated on it's own 3 or 4 times at different speeds. In each situation putting on the brakes would not stop the vehicle.i was forced to enter high speed traffic and get into a center turn lane just missing an accident.i put the chevy tahoe in neutral which allowed the engine to race to a point it could/would have blown. I was able to turn off the ignition but was in the middle of the road.my wife will not drive the car and will trade it for another brand.each of the times this happened it was at different speeds & the speed control was not on.turning off the chevy tahoe allowed it to restart each time so we could get home. Gm like all car companies diagnostic software is not designed to signal the causes of these intermittent types of problems thus they can go on for years before getting fixed.this is the fourth gm vehicle over 20 years & all have had electrical issues and unless multiple people are killed gm keeps doing the same poor job.

I was driving when the suddenly the engine power was reduced and traction control stability track came on and said to service engine i was going 70 and the speed dropped down to 40.i have no idea why this happen i'm going to see if the dealer will fix problem tomorrow.

Ignition lock actuator bind making turning the key difficult and causing the ignition to get stuck in the start position even when turning the car off.

Car is shutting off when driving down the road especially at night to radically the lights will turn off engine will shut off door locks won't engage and disengage has happened twice at 70 miles an hour almost had accidents. Hand electrical system check battery alternator by gm certified mechanic and all checked out fine. I am concerned this vehicle has a bad ignition switch which has been recalled on other models of vehicles and i do understand some chevrolet suvs have been involved in those recalls this is a very dangerous situation.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated. The contact mentioned that the abs, loss of power, check engine and the traction control warning lamps were illuminated immediately after the failure. In addition, the contact mentioned that the failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the throttle sensor and cables were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the remedy failed to correct the problem. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 4,000 and the current mileage was 17,000. Updated 07/02/12 the consumer stated the vehicle loss all power and the vehicle decelerated quickly. Updated 07/12/12

I was driving on the highway at approx 60 mph. The truck dropped speed rapidly and without warning. Lights starting flashing and stating reduced engine power - service stabilitrak. When attempting to pull over i applied the brakes and the truck lunged forward. This happened three times before the engine sputtered and shut off - on the highway. Gm/chevrolet states this is not under warranty. The truck is less than 3 years old.

My stability track light will come on and my tahoe will decrease in speed when this happens.this has happened multiple times in the past couple of months.my dashboard has a huge crack over the instrument cluster.it made a loud pop sound when it split.there is a rubbing noise coming from my steering column when i have to turn a corner.

I was driving on the long island expressway ( 495) at about 2 pm on 1/28/13, i was in the middle lane at about 65mph when suddenly the check engine light came on and a message came up saying, service stabilitrak, then engine power reduced. This caused my vehicle to slow down to that 65mph to about 35 rapidly. I was able to move over and pull over to the side of the road. Once i stopped the car it was idling very rough. I turned off my car and turned it back on and was able to reset my computer. I went to my mechanic and was told it was a 2135 error code( a throttle body sensor issue).

Was driving highway when suddlenly the engine power was reduced and traction contriol stability track cam on and said to service was going 65 dropped to 45 almost got hit by rig.was near exit pulled off but car accelerated through light even though foot was on brake, took corner very fast and back into a gas station where i whipped it into park and shut off engine.turned engine back on after i calmed down check engine light was on, after idling forabout 15 min the same thing happened the engined reved then powered down etc.this happened 6 times just to get vehicle to dealer where it was the throttle positionong sensor, not covered by warranty of course. I am luck i did not lose my life.

Was driving vehicle and came to a stop light. While at light felt engine shut down and showed "service stabilitrak and service traction control."turned off ignition and started vehicle again but with trouble. Both lights stay on and vehicle was operable with reduced engine speed. This issue has occurred on several occasions and luckily it hasn't been while driving with my family and causing an accident or death.

I started to encounter the following errors on my 2011 chevy tahoe; service traction control, service stabilitrak, engine power reduced during the winter months of 2012-2013. I could be simply doing the task of warming the vehicle up in the morning, driving on a paved road going 35mph, or full blown in the middle of freeway/highway traffic. The vehicle will violently start to idle with the warning indicators mentioned above, i then have to somehow pull over in the middle of traffic because i'm unable to get any power due to the engine power reduction. Shut the vehicle completely off and patiently wait until it decides to reset. This could happen once a day to multiple times a day. It could happen immediately one after another or at any given time. The service engine indicator will stay on for about a day before it goes away. Leaving you with the impression the vehicle is fine. Well it's not until it happens again and again. I was about to take my vehicle in right before it was turning spring weather was warming, (not sure if this had anything to do with the issue) but surprisingly it stopped. All spring and summer i had not one issue until now! january 8th 2014 and the weather is cold. This seems after reading on a few blogs on the web, numerous gm owners are having the same issue. They take the vehicle in to have serviced and the service fails. It sounds more like a faulty product which is unsafe having the engine power reduced with no ability to get out of traffic in the middle of the freeway.

Clearly there is a recall needed as this mimics toyota's issue with not stopping when the brake is applied and the rapid deceleration without warning is a clear safety issue.

I was driving on the highway with my child, when then engine light came on.seconds later the "stabilitrak off and traction control off" came on."service traction" came on and within seconds the power steering left and the brakes seemed as if they were not working properly. Thank god there was not a lot of traffic!! i got over as the engine sputtered and finally died. This could have been a tragedy!! i have read many are having this problem and it needs to be fixed before someone really gets hurt!!

Recently purchased a used tahoe from dealership with warranty.while driving in snow making a right turn the stabilitrac light came on, traction control, and abs. The vehicle fishtaled, engine lost response. The abs and stabilitrac warnings continue for a short time and went off. I was able to stop the vehicle safely.second instance in the rain, on the highway. I was traveling in the fast lane, wanted to move over for a fast moving vehicle behind me. As i was changing lanes the stabilitrac light came on again, this time pulsing the a b s breaks. I had to steer harder to the right, to get out of the way. The throttle response was low as well.the tahoe is consuming huge amounts of gas. About 13miles per gallon. Drags up hill. Seems like it hard to shift into higher gears. Return to dealership for service. Dealer cleaned throttle body, replaced mass air flow sensor.returned it to me, i told the dealer to drive it,before i accepted it back.three codes popped up. Back to chevy for diagnosis.yaw sensor not communicating, etc. I told the dealer i feel the vehicle isn't safe. I gave them a list of codes off my code reader. It doesn't seem they are taking it into consideration.we haven't had the vehicle a month.the dealer is providing a rental. Seems like a common issue with the tahoe and other chevy vehicles.the dealer also told me i had to recreate theproblem and/or have the check engine light on for warrenty. The stabilitrac lights comes on intermittently as well as check engine light. I don't think that's fair. They are however trying to figure out the issues.i feel like they sold me a car with known issues.

Just purchased truck it has not been 30 days and the service suspension system light came on and when i drive the car will accelerate faster on its own. Which was very scary with kids in the car now my engine light is on plus traction control and it sometimes won't go over 70 mph. I feel like i was told truck was in great condition but it's not and scared it might accelerate on its on with kids in car. I was on highway when this happened i work from home so i haven't really had chance to drive truck but i feel un safe driving it berger chevrolet should be shamed i have called multiple managers with no call back

Gm/chevrolet customer service will not correct safety issue with spare tire.gm/chevrolet customer service will not put response in writing.gm/chevrolet customer service will not discuss mixing of bridgestone and goodyear belt designs.the spare is not a "dummy tire" and is not a "fully operational spare" per gm.the spare cannot be used in 4wd, if spare used in 4wd warranty is voided.gm/chevrolet mixes tire mfg, tire design, tire # belts on drive tires and "spare".this is an unsafe act.the four drive tires are bridgestone dueller hl alenza p275-55r20 (2poly/2steel/1nylon belt).the spare tire is a goodyear wrangler hp p265-70r17 (2poly/2steel belt) (mfg design is fully operational) spare.gm/chevrolet had no disclosure about the odd spare category prior to purchase and not noted in window sticker.owner manual is unclear about the spare and avoids any facts about the spare being goodyear and drive tires are bridgestone design.gm/chevrolet has created a third category for a spare: "bobo".type 1 is fully operational spare, type 2 is a dummy spare (not fully operation), and type 3 is new and is a bobo spare, appears to be a fully operational tire but gm states not fully operational (and not a dummy tire too).there is absolutely no reason for gm to not have a bridgestone dueller hl alenza p265-70r17 tire on the spare rim, instead of a goodyear wrangler hpp265-70r17 tire.this would make all tires on the tahoe bridgestone dueller hl alenza design/belts.

Crack in the dashboard - drivers side. Passenger side headlight is distorted

There are multiple cracks in the dashboard making it a safety hazard in the event of an airbag deployment there could be hazardous debris. When the vehicle is in motion the dash rattles and can be very loud. Secondarily there is also an issue with the fuel tank. The pump constantly stops itself not allowing you to put gas in the vehicle. We have tried different gas stations to see if the issue is isolated and this is not the case. No matter which gas station you choose the vehicle will stop the pump after a gallon or two.

So when ever i fuel my car at the pump by clicking the fuel pump to auto start, the pump usually stop pumping after about 15 sec, and then you will have to manual fill again with your hang or start the auto fueling again.so today when i started fueling my car again after about 4 or 5 gallon of fueling had already enter the vehicle, the fuel started to spray out from the nozzle where you place the fuel pump out, fuel got all over my body. I quick notice it, and turned the auto start pumping feature off with my hands. Afterward, i went to my car and check how fill was the tank, and it was only 3/4 full. It wasn't full i was quiet surprised to my finding that gasoline started spraying out.

Traveling west on i-10 from houston to california. About 15 miles out of van horn tx going to el paso the car shut down. All the lights came on the dashboard and i could not steer the car. We got over to the shoulder (it was a struggle). The car was dead. Would not do anything. Called for help. About 15-20 min. Later tried to start the car again and it worked. When i looked under the hood i did not see anything wrong. Drove to el paso and found out that the sensors from the gas tank to the engine were not working properly (fuel pressure sensor). It should read about 50-60 psi and we were reading about 43 psi. In short the computer told my engine "we are out of gas." so that is why it just shut down, even though i was not empty. I noticed that there is already a similar recall already on chevy cars/trucks like the trailblazer.i think this may be a problem on more models than what is being reported!

During refueling the fuel does not fill up and backs up coming out onto person fueling vehicle along with fuel pouring onto vehicle as well property. This is a major fire hazard and can cause serious burns to whomever is fueling vehicle let alone what can happen if the spill is ever to ignite from a electronic spark. This is a major problem and needs to be rectified as soon as possible, for it is eminent that someone will be injured and possible killed.

My 2011 chevy tahoe was in motion on a town road when several alerts came up on the dashboard including service traction control, service stabilink and reduced engine power. The local dealer used a scan tool and found dtc # p2135 - throttle position sensor. Gm has a service bulletin #11273a that authorizes full replacement of the sensor at no cost to the customer for affected vehicles. Affected vehicles include 2008 - 2011 chevy tahoe's. But gm says my vin on 2011 tahoe is not covered. This is clearly a major part defect for that spans multiple decades and multiple gm vehicles that can result in the very unsafe and unexpected loss or reduction in engine power. Clearly this part defect is affecting more vehicles than just those selectively covered under the service bulletin. A call to gm service resulted as expected and they were unwilling to acknowledge the issue with the tps is more pervasive than they have claimed. They refused to cover the cost of my repair despite the fact this is clearly a defective part.

Purchased vehicle, and two weeks later drove it to the washington coast from boise, idaho (approximately 630 miles). While there the back driverside rear seat door worked fine. Then on the fourth day, we returned from an outing, and it was okay. Went out later to get something out of the car and the left rear door would not open. External handle come out about an inch and stayed out (like no spring connected). Door was unlocked (button up). Tried the inside handle and it would not open the door either. Just swung out as normal, but didn't open door. The following day we returned to boise, and door was inoperative whole way home.the following morning we went out to unload some more things. And the door worked. I am taking it into the dealer who says they have had problems similar to this with other tahoes. Consider this a serious safety factor. If we were to have a passenger in the car and be in an accident and the door didn't open, it could be a factor to survival. Additionally, in the event of a water entry, since the rear windows only roll down half-way, escape is necessary through the door. In this case, an inoperative door could result in death or serious injury.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that when accelerating, the vehicle would exhibit a loud clunk noise and when decelerating, the vehicle would surge abnormally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 5 and the current mileage was 4,700.

Transmission will not shift when pulling out it won't go and starts jumping in and out of gear and then shifts really hard and goes it's almost caused me to get hit by oncoming cars several times and it's worse on a hill jumping in and out but does fine running up and down the highway

Driving home from work on a dark, very cold evening during rush hour on a highway and the tahoe suddenly loses power.as soon as this happens, lots of idiot lights and warning messages appear on the instrument cluster.telling me that stability control is disabled and need serviced and that engine power is being reduced.i was in the left lane and had to cut through traffic to get to a a very snowy shoulder - fortunately safely.the truck continued to limp along and i managed to eventually find a safe place to stop.turns out that the throttle body sensor was bad and that this is a known issue.i found the service bulletin online and gm fixed is right away today.there is no recall, but most gmc/chevy forums had dozens of posts of the same situation, many where folks encountered more serious safety situations.this appears to go back many older model years as well so it seems gm should know about this issue and address it in their newer vehicles which they have not.why does the engine cut out so suddenly and other unrelated safety features are disabled seems very dangerous in highway driving conditions.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the vehicle shifted out of park and into reverse independently causing the vehicle to roll backwards and crash into a wooded lot. The front driver's side door was damaged due to the impact. The air bags did not deploy. The driver sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention. No police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 45,000.

The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000.

Thank you!

On march 17,2015 i left my home driving my vehice with the seat belt on i got to my destination and when i tried to fastened my seat belt , i had to drive back home unbuckle, i went to the dealership to get it this safety concern checked, they came back and told me that the drivers seat belt latch was stuck in closed position, they never said it was due to wear and tear, they said they had to replace it, they did and charge me for it. I file a claim with chevrolet and 4 days later they came back saying that they were not responsible for the seat belt issue that it was wear and tear, i mentioned to them that my truck is only 5 years old, they said thay had to go back and see how the previous owner treated the truck and also that i purchase a used vehicle. I disagree with every single word they said. I think chevrolet is responsible for the safety accessories they install on every single vehicle. I thank god nothing happened to me while i drove without a seat belt. I don't know how many cars outthere have had this same issue.

We took our tahoe into the dealership to have the second row headrests removed because they were causing the car seats for our twins to not set back and flush against the back of the seat.so not only does it cause the car seat to sit up more vertical but also a safety concern because the car seat cannot be as securely fastened.the dealership and later customer care at corporate chevrolet said that they cannot remove those headrests for us because of a safety concern to an adult passenger in those seats without a headrest.i tried to explain that an adult will not be sitting there because the car seats are there.and confirmed that they were ok with a safety concern for kids in car seats that is happening, but not for an adult that might happen.

I was driving on the highway at approx 65 mph. The truck dropped speed rapidly and without warning. Lights starting flashing and stating reduced engine power - service stabilitrak. When attempting to pull over i applied the brakes and the truck lunged forward. This happened three times before the engine sputtered and shut off - on the highway.diagnostic tests show it was error p2135 - the throttle body component.gm/chevrolet states this is not under warranty. The truck is less than 2 years old. Clearly there is a recall needed as this mimics toyota's issue with not stopping when the brake is applied and the rapid deceleration without warning is a clear safety issue.

My dash board is cracked in two places.it cracked to the dome part over the gauges and it cracked to my passenger side airbag.i do not feel safe transporting people in the passenger side.

My dashboard cracked on my 2011 tahoe about the time my 36000 mile warranty expired.

Inside of rear passenger door was full of water.

The dash on the passenger side in the upper left corner from the air bag had a crack show up on my vehicle. I was traveling down a smooth roadway when a loud pop occurred and the cracked appeared. The dealership stated that i would have to pay to fix the dash, due to the warranty not covering the issue. I do not understanding after researching why chevrolet has not fixed this issue due to so many vehicles having the same defect. For an expensive vehicle that it is, i would expect a better quality of product. I will not be purchasing another tahoe.

This tahoe has2 cracks in dash . Right at the air bag space & in front of the driver. What is going to happen if the air bags deploy. This is a product defect. This tahoe has only 47k miles on it.this is not right for gmc to do this to the buyers.

Driving and there was a loud pop, the dashboard above the steering wheel cracked and the dashboard on passenger side where the air bag cracked.

I bought a chevrolet tahoe 20111, and i noticed that the dash board is cracked in several area. The truck has 58,000 originalmiles. The dealer is refusing to replace the defected part with out charging. After doing several research about these vehicle they are many trucks owner with the same problem. This is poor quality plastic. I need you help and guidance to resolve this problem i paid $35,000 for a truck with a defected dashboard.thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dash cracking real bad.

Dash board cracked.

I noticed about a month ago that my tahoe dashboard was cracked on two spots.

Cracked dashboard above instrument cluster.bought the vehicle used on 18 may 2018 and did not notice the crack until the next day.research has indicated that this is a known defect with many gm models.

The dash has cracked in several places

2011 chevy tahoe dash crack, 6/19/16, no trauma, parked in car port, 64k miles. Once researched found this to be a frequent issue with no solution from gm/chevy. Requesting recall for defective dash material, risk of airbag deployment if continues to crack.

The dash on my tahoe is cracking.i have done a little research online and found it is quite common, especially around the passenger side airbag.i feel this is dangerous if the airbag is deployed.i believe it will send pieces of the dash at the occupants of my vehicle.

Crack on my dash extending from the drivers side to the passenger airbag, this was noted one morning while i was driving and heard a rattling sound in my dash

Getting baseball equipment out of the back of my vehicle, the power liftgate rose almost to the top and then started to auto close on my son.the force could have killed him if someone wasn't there.i'm a physically fit man and i had difficulty holding up the lift gate.

Shortly after my extended warranty expired, my dashboard began to crack. Within two years, it developed three substantial cracks which led to shimmying of the dashboard while driving. The became a chronic and continual problem.

The dash cracked on passenger side. No warning signs of it happening and sharp. Car was not running at the time it cracked.my vehicle only had 46,000 miles at the time.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard cracked near the air bags. The contact was concerned that the air bags might inadvertently deploy. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.

Dash board has cracked, almost completely out, 2011 tahoe with, 60000 miles.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the passenger's side dashboard became cracked unexpectedly. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the mechanic stated that the entire dashboard had to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 55,000. The current mileage was 60,000.

Cracked dash

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that while driving, a crack was noticed on the dashboard. The contact was concerned for their safety and that the air bags could inadvertently deploy. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,340.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard was cracked in four places. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 130,403.

There is a crack in the left upper side of the dash where the passenger airbag is. This happened with around 60k miles on it.

Cracked dash - the vehicle was stationary when cracking happened inside on the dash. It has cracked in 4 places: (2) above the steering wheel and (2) at the air bag. When driving, i notice there is no support in the middle of dash, it bounces and makes the cracks worse. I called my local chevrolet tahoe and researched online for same make and model about recalls and there has yet to be a recall for the cracks in the dash. There has certainly been lots of complaints about the same issue, but again no action has been taken. Cracking at airbag is hazardous, especially if i were to get into an accident. This should certainly be a recall due to the cracks at the airbag and that it is a safety hazard.

Dash cracking in 2 spots and cracks keep getting longer.

After purchasing tahoe from used car dealership less than a month. A/c was on driving when i heard a noise from the dash. Took pictures to show husband. Driving on ty 40 going 40 mph. Crack is a safety issue!

Vehicle dash is cracked in several locations including around the passenger airbag. This has become a common issue with this vehicle platform including the gmc yukon, gmc yukon xl, gmc sierra, chevy tahoe, chevy suburban, and chevy silverado all within the 2007-2013 model years. There are numerous discussions threads posted online as well as social groups in which owners are informing the rest of the community of their similar problems. The main concern is that in the event of a crash, the cracked dashboard could fragment as the airbag is deployed causing projectiles within the vehicle cabin. The safety concern as well as material defect should be investigated. There is no excuse as to why these dashboards are cracking.

The dash just recently cracked over the steering wheel. This vehicle had been garaged, i use window covers, and it only has 40,000. I am 100% a gm customer, but the lack of quality with respect to materials is extremely disappointing.

Noticed major crack on dashboard both on passenger and driver side. This just apppeared car was parked for the night went out in the morning and noticed the crack. The car has not been involved in any accidents or abused.this is a car that had been kept very clean both interior and exterior.

Dash is cracked is several areas

The dashboard continues to crack and deteriorate it has now cracked near the front passenger airbag. The vehicle was stationary it has happened over time

Dashboard crack above steering column and by the passenger airbagit cracks more with heat/cold turned on in vehicle.

2011 tahoe ltzwith 70,000 miles ,dash started making a rattling noise, found the dash cracked in several places above the instrument panel, after initial crack, the dash vibrates and rattles more, causing more cracking.

Cracked dash and could cause serious injury if air bag is deployed.

I purchased my tahoe december 31st 2016 and i noticed a few weeks ago that the dashboard is cracked and it seems to be getting bigger.

We have a crack on the dashboard around the airbag. We have been trying for several months to get gm to fix the crack and the 1st optionfrom a local dealership was to refer us to a man that could fill it in can paint it to match. A 3 year old child using silly puddy could have done a better job and the crack was still there. Our next try was to take it back to the dealership where we purchased it and they said they couldn't fix it and referred us to a company down the street to repair it. That company was a car accessory store that said they didn't do that type of work. Then i emailed gm because my research on the internet revealed that this was a problem for several gm models. So i email gm, who first told me that it wasn't anything they could do. After i explained i was a loyal customer for some 30+ years and when i purchased this particular vehicle, we also bought a silverado pickup at the same time. Then i was referred to someone else and over a period of 3 weeks, i finally go to speak with a person who instructed me to take it back to the local dealership and let them get an estimate of how much it would cost. They figured the cost at $800.00 and told us we had to pay $500.00 and they would cover $300.00. I can't see why we must pay for a design defect that we could not have prevented from happening. I paid a lot of money for this car and i have done everything possible to keep it in good condition. Why should the consumer have to pay for flaws in the design of any car that's being sold?

The dash in my vehicle cracked significantly last week as i was making a right hand turn, gm indicated that there has not been a recall but after reading into it, this issue seems to be quite prevalent. This needs to be addressed.

Dashboard has two cracks. One is about a inch long at the left front corner of passenger's airbag. Another right behind the steeling wheel about 4 inches long. The dashboard are vibrating with clicking noise.

The dash board has several cracks in it. When asked a dealer about it they said this was very common for chevys. It's interesting that this information is posted all over the internet, why would chevrolet compromise customer satisfaction. Also the side trim is falling off

Crack in the dashboard - drivers side. Passenger side headlight is distorted

Plastic dashboard is cracking and creating potential projectile pieces of sharp plastic in case of impact.cracking near the passenger side airbag and near the driver side instrument cluster.cracks just showed up, there was nothing visible before them and suddenly they are there.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard was cracked through to the driver side. The air bags were not exposed. The contact was informed that no recalls were associated with the vehicle. The vehicle was not involved in a crash. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact called a local dealer (penske chevrolet 3210 e 96th st indianapolis in 46240 317-846-6666) and scheduled an appointment. The failure mileage was unknown.updated 07/18/17*lj

Dash is cracking around passenger side airbag. This is unsafe because in the event of passenger airbag deploying, shards of cracked dash can become projectiles. Many complaints on internet about same issue, no resolution from dealer or gm customer service.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked and an abnormal clicking noise was heard while driving at unknown speeds. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to autonation chevrolet gulf freeway (13800 gulf fwy, houston, (281) 305-8940) who informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 122,000. The vin was not available.

Takata recall on cracked dashboard: 2011 chevy tahoe, 50k when cracks were noticed. Dashboard cracked in three places: along side the airbag on passenger side and over the steering wheel of driver side. My concerns is the endangerment from flying shards from the defective cracked dashboard. I am the first and only owner of this vehicle since day one, with normal dailing commute(work, home etc), and well maintain.

My dash in my 2011 chevy tahoe has cracked from the passenger airbag to the cluster above steering wheel. Dash would make a popping sound when driving, thats when i noticed crack

552(b)(6). *cc

Dashboard cracks due to poor quality material and poor design. Once cracked, the dashboard presents a safety hazard. If the airbag were to deploy, the force of the deployment against the already cracked dashboard could send sharp fragments of the dashboard into passengers.

Spontaneous windshield crack, originating form passenger side upper right corner to center of windshield; approx 8" long. Crack in dash perpendicular to passenger airbag area, approx 2" long. Vehicle was parked in covered garage for 72 hours, discovered upon next use.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard began to crack. The dashboard first began cracking on the passenger side near the air bag housing. It then began to crack directly above the steering wheel. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Dashboard right by passenger airbag cracked. Dash vibrates when driving and i'm worried if the airbag deploys that pieces of the dashboard will break off and become projectiles in the cabin.

After every rain, the rear doors fill with water.i clear the drain holes regularly but after each rain i still need to take off the seal and let the water drain.if it is a heavy rain, the doors take over 15 minutes to drain because they are completely full.i should not have to do this after every rain.i am concerned that rust willform and that there will be electrical issues.if i am not home for several days after it rains and the truck is sitting, this means the water is sitting in there.at night, if the temperature drops below freezing, this water will freeze in the doors.this never happened in my 2002 tahoe.

Dashboard is cracking - from unknown reason

Cracking in dash due to poor quality and build. Posses potential hazard should airbags deploy.

Dash cracking: i own a 2011 chevrolet tahoe ltz. The dash has cracked twice on this vehicle. The 1st time it was under warranty. The 2nd time it occurred the dash cracked in two places. This cost me more than $1000. Once it cracked it started making a rattling noise as i went down the road. After reviewing all the complaints about this same problem, i fail to understand why a recall was not ordered by the government in regard to this problem. This is a problem reported by thousands of other people who have purchased a chevrolet tahoe or suburban. These are not cheap vehicles to purchase but are obviously made with cheap, defective materials.

Noticed large crackedon dash board above instrument cluster and around airbag. Due to the location of crack around passenger side air bag, a recall should be issued and dash should be replaced.

Chevrolet aluminum and chrome plated wheels are corroding if aluminum or rusting of chrome plated.in my case the aluminum wheels are corroding around the valve stem holes and i've been told by mechanics that if the corrosion gets into the wheel tire bead area then they are unable to put replacement tires on the vehicle.i am having trouble keeping air pressure constant in my wheels but i do not know why.i suspect the wheel corrosion is getting inside the wheels because of the air pressure issue.there are large numbers of customers complaining about wheel corrosion in a great many internet forums and the replacement wheel market is thriving from all the trucks having to replace their wheels long before they should have to.i took my 2011 tahoe lt back to the dealership while it was under warranty and chevrolet said this was not a recall issue and they couldn't do anything about it.i was also told i was lucky i didn't have chrome wheels because they have far more issues than people with aluminum wheels.since this could reduce tire pressures to unsafe levels i believe the nhtsa should research this issue for possible recalls.i believe all models of gm trucks from at least 2011 forward have this issue.

I am very careful and take good care of my vehicles, but this one has a crack in the dash that is getting bigger and bigger.from talking with a few people that own the same model they have had the same issue.it seems to be a defect from gm.i have not hit any major pot holes or applied any pressure what so ever to the dash.now it's so bad that it rattles when driving down the road.this is unacceptable especially with gm not taking responsibility for their error.

Dashboard cracking at passenger air bag and driver's side

My front dash board cracked.it was not moving. Nothing has been set on the dash.i noticed one afternoon, the front cracked.

The contact stated that the rear tailgate locked on the contact while he attempted to reach into the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed and the contact was not injured. The manufacturer was not notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 59,000.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 15 mph, the suspension failed without warning while the driver's side front tire separated from the vehicle. The contact crashed into another vehicle as a result. The contact sustained trauma to the leg and a collapsed spine disc. A police report was not filed.the vehicle was towed to the dealer.the contact was not provided with a diagnosis and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 29,000.

2011 chevrolet tahoe. Consumer would like to inform nhtsa of the terrific service that win kelly chevrolet did for a recall. He received notice through onstar that he was involved in a recall and within 4 hours the vehicle was repaired.

Dash has cracked in 4 separate places. One crack is at the air bag, could potentially cause issues with air bag deployment or debris from dash breaking off if air bag deployed.

The dashboard is cracked.severe rattle and noisy while operating.this is a design flaw as i have read this issue is being seen in 1000's of vehicles. I have taken this in to chevrolet dealers on multiple occasions with no help or assistance.greatly effects the value of the vehicle.

Dashboard cracking around airbag may cause dangerous debris if the airbag is deployed in a crash

My 2011 tahoe has yet another crack in the dash. The first time it was changed because i have less than 30000 miles on the truck. Now i have 60000 and it has cracked again. This time they are telling me i need to pay at 250 of the cost of repair! no sir! i'm doing nothing to my vehicle to make this happen and i don't feel i should be responsible for having to change it yet again. This is not far! i used to love chevy but now i'm not so sure!

Dashboard cracking and it is looking unsafe if airbags deploy.

Replaced cracked dashboard in 2013 and now the new one is cracking. Vehicle is parked in garage most of the time.

My 2011 chevy tahoe has cracks that appeared on the dashboard and just keep getting worse. It has low miles and has been kept in the garage. The drivers side air bag is also located in the dasha and i am concerned if it what will happen if it deploys.

The dashboard in my 2011 chevy tahoe began cracking at approxmately 70k miles.in the event of a crash i'm concerned for my family's safefty as the dashboard continues to crack in a spiderweb fashon.i've contacted my chevrolet customer service and have been told that my vehicles original 3 year/36,000 mile warranty has expired and i can contact my local dealership to have the defect fixed at my expense.this vehicle was $55k brand new and it is clearly a manufacturer defect for the dashboard to crack after 4 years or any other time and expecting customes to pay over $1000 to correct this issue is unacceptable.this is a defect that should be corrected at no cost to vehicle owners.

There are two cracks in the dashboard: one is on the driver's side from front to back starts under the windshield and extends to the top of the instrument panel behind the steering wheel; the other on the passenger side starts under the windshield and extends to the air bag cover.i'm concerned that these cracks may compromise either or both air bags should they be deployed in the event of an accident.

The stabiltrak turned off on its own and launched our vehicle to the side while we were driving 55 mph.

The dashboard is cracked in multiple areas causing rattling and plastic bits breaking off and falling into the dash area.i'm concerned this poorly structured dash will lose integrity enough to cause damage or potentially cause electrical malfunctions in other areas underneath the dash.this poor dash design is well known in the tahoe community.the cruise control works sometimes and completely doesn't work other times.there is no consistency of when it will work or not work.when i hit the initial start up button on the steering wheel, the light on the wheel will light up.however, if i hit the 'set' button on the wheel, the actual cruise control will sometimes activate and the light on the dash will come on confirming it is set and working.but sometimes when i hit the 'set' button, nothing happens and the cruise control never activates.this is at any speed.

There are several hairline cracks in the dash behind the steering column and around the passenger air bag.this vehicle has 48,000 miles and has been well maintained. I am concerned about passenger injuries not to forget that this vehicle was purchased for $53,000 and evidently has cheap and poor quality materials .i have replaced 2 door handles that became so loose.the dealership said there were bolts missing.a gm product made in america with this poorquality! makes me wonder what is next!

The car was parked in the garage not running. I opened the lift gate. It opened fine then when i went to put something into the cargo area the lift gate started slowly closing. I backed out from under it and it suddenly crashed closed nearly hitting me. The struts have not worked since. We have to manually open the lift gate and prop it open with a broomstick handle.

On 1-24-16 i went to get in my vehicle and noticed that the dash was cracked on the drivers side above the instrument panels. 1-27-16 i now notice a crack in the dash on the passenger side by the air bag. I am worried if in an accident the cracked dash is going to cause more injuries. I have contacted my local dealer who pretty much blew me off. I also emailed gm and they told me to contact my local dealer no one wants to correct this problem and i am sure i am not the only one with this issue. This happened while it was parked in my garage for no reason.

Dashboard has 2 cracks. One by the passengers airbag and the other over the drivers instrument panel. This vehicle has been stored in a garage. I wrote a letter to gm and the will not take any action or help with replacement.

Cracked dashboard: large crack on driver side and small crack on passenger side.

I have two cracks in the dashboard.one is on the passenger side right near the airbag and one in one the drivers side.i have read many complainants about this issue and it puzzles me why chevy would not do a recall.my 2011 is very well taken care of so it is not neglect on my part.

The dashboard is cracking on my 2011 chevrolet tahoe and i see there are many other people with the same issue.

The dash is cracked in 2 places. 1 looks like it might affect the passenger airbag.

Dashboard has cracked with only 60,000 miles on the truck.

I took my tahoe to herndon chevrolet to be detailed. Within 24 hrs after the detailing, there was a crack in the dash touching the airbag and to over the steering wheel.

The dashboard has cracks in multiple areas which has created a safety concern if the airbags were to deploy.i'm concerned that the plastic that is cracked could fly/hit driver/passenger in the case of airbag deployment.

Came out to take the kids to school and there was a crack in my dash near the passenger air bag.crack appeared over night, car was parked in oceanside ca.concern for passenger and flying debris or if airbag will even work properly.this seems to be a common problem.

My dash split around the passenger side airbag and on the drivers side on the 'hood' above the gauges. It's ridiculous how wide spread of a problem this is on these year model, yet chevrolet charges $360 for the replacement part.

Dash board has been cracking...started from the corners of the airbag....now i have cracks all over the dashboard.

Dash pad cracked over both the instrument panel and air bag.oct 1 2016 selected as happen date however, that is an estimation for the approximate time.

Dashboard just cracked while driving city street

My tahoe was parked when i noticed 2 cracks onthe left hand corner by the passenger side airbag on my dashboard. I also have a really large crack on the dashboard abovethe instrument panel . I am concerned that airbag will not deploy correctly if i were in an accident.

My dash board is cracked in two places.it cracked to the dome part over the gauges and it cracked to my passenger side airbag.i do not feel safe transporting people in the passenger side.

The dash is cracking on passenger side and driver side.and the cracks keep growing.the add washer fuel light stays on and there is fluid in the reservoir.

I was wiping dust off the dashboard and saw a small crack on the corner of the dash that meets the airbag compartment as well as a crack on the same dash panel on the driver's side. At the time my vehicle was only three years old but a few hundred miles past warranty. I immediately reported it to the dealership. I was told they had received numerous complaints, but i would have to pay for a replacement. I was also told that several of those that had their dash replaced were experiencing the same problem again. After seeing the same type of complaint from other owners and the cracks on my dash continuing to spread, i decided to file a complaint. My concern is a safety issue with these cracks causing the air bags to malfunction and inflate while driving causing injury. Every person i know that has this vehicle is experiencing the same problem. I am requesting that you investigate this issue. I believe there should be a recall and a replacement with a dash that is made of a more durable, safer material.

We had the oil changed at a lube shop in marble falls texas and the person that changed the oil told us the transmission dip stick tube was loose so he couldn't check the transmission fluid. We left the lube shop and was driving down 1431 in marble falls when a gentleman stopped us and told us the tahoe was on fire. We popped the hood and indeed there were flames in the lower part of the engine compartment. We called the police and fire department and they came to our call within 10 minutes. In researching the problem i saw that there is a recall on the tubes but my issue is that we were never notified of the recall and the way the recall is written does not consider fire from the transmission fluid. This happened on 10/13/2015.

Dashboard crackedby instrument panel - got in one day and noticed it

Takata recallthe dashboard is cracking along the airbag on the passenger side and over the driver side tachometer. My concern is when and if the airbag should deploy, there might possibly be projectiles from this defective crack.over the past couple of weeks, the crack above the tachometer keeps getting larger.the dash is cracked all of the time when stationary and moving.i went to the local chevrolet dealership.the service manager stated that the cracked dash was a defect for sure.he also stated that they see this problem all of the time.when we called gm assistance, they stated they would not pay for it because it was out of warranty and there were no recalls on the dash.this is similar to other complaints i have seen on the internet.i am not sure exactly when the dash first cracked because my wife is the primary driver and is not tall enough to see over the dash in a seated position.i drove her car and noticed it march of 2016, but it could have happened sooner.

The dash on my garage kept tahoe is cracking and falling apart. I can only imagine what damage could be done if in a wreck and the sharp pieces are flying in our faces.the first crack by the airbag happened while i was driving on the highway..i heard a loud pop and it scared me to death. The second crack above the instrument panel also happened while driving but not as loud.

Got into my 2011 chevy tahoe ltz on a spring afternoon, started the truck, put my truck in drive, started moving and heard a vibrating noise. Looked around my dash and noticed 2 cracks on my dashboard. Which has now turned into 2 cracks on my dash. How does that happen so fast? now i am reading online this is an ongoing problem with certain models. Why isn't this being handled by gm? nice truck when i first got it but now i am thinking about trading in for anything but this. I've had the truck 4 years and have a cracked dash and smells of mold that my car dealer can't find the cause of. I am disappointed in you gm.

Dashboard is cracked near the passenger side airbag.i've seen a large number of people complain about this same issue.i was driving down a gravel road and it just cracked.

Multiple large cracks on dashboard.between driver seat and passenger seat, the cracks created a loose, floppy dashboard.

Dashboard is cracking on drivers side causing a safe risk .the crack is all the way down by windshield and goes all the up to atop of stairing wheel .feels like dashboard is loose

The dash is cracked going from the passenger air bag cover to the defroster vent.

2011 chevrolet tahoe cracking dashboard. Cracks (3) appeared over the course of 12 months (spring of 2018 start). First occurred by the passenger air bag, second over the driver side instrument cluster (center), third crack recently occurred lower left of driver side instrument cluster. Vehicle was in motion when cracks occurred (highway and city driving). Vehicle was not involved in any accidents or abuse. The cracking dashboard may be the result of a poor engineering and/or material composition design that does not adequately support/secure the dashboard and substandard materials that allows for vibration (cracking failures). Cracked dashboard components may cause injury and is considered a safety issue for driver and passengers.

Cracked dash

Dashboard cracks. In 2 different areas of my dash, cracks start from the front of the vehicle running back towards the front seats. The crack on the passenger side connects to the airbag compartment. If the airbag were to deploy, it seems plastic shards may become projectiles in the passenger compartment. This seems to be a common problem for this year and make vehicle, according to online posts. I have 1989, 2006, 2008 year vehicles that the dash is fully intact.

My dash has cracked and i'm worried that if i'm ever in an accident that i may be injured if the air bags deploy and send pieces of the dash at me.seems to be a big problem with gm suv's and trucks.there is even a facebook page with a couple thousand members:https://www.facebook.com/groups/gmdashcrack/

Cracked dash by passenger air bag, vehicle only has 23,000 miles. Concerned bout debris or projectiles after airbag deployment

Dashboard is cracked. Concerned about safety in the event the airbag deploys.the vehicle has not been in any accidents.no chemical or cleaner has ever been applied to the dash. It looks like a stress crack or manufacturer defect.

Cracked dash above airbag and instrument cluster.

The dashboard has 3 cracks in it that randomly showed up, 2 at the top left corner on the passenger side by the air bag and the other the top left side of the drivers side above the instrument panel

Cracked dashboard above driver instrument panel also big crack by the passenger air bag i'm afraid if deployed may have flying objects

Purchased a used 2011 chevrolet tahoe with 56,000 miles and it has a cracked dashboard above the speedometer cluster.spoke with the chevrolet dealer where i purchased the vehicle and they stated chevrolet will not replace the defective dashboard.

2011 tahoe - dash board has cracked for no apparent reason.appears to be a defect.crack on dash is located on driver's side in front of steering wheel. From viewing database this is a common problem which gm has failed to address - especially if a crash occurs and fragments of dash could cause further injury to driver/passengers and/or cause airbag issues.

Airbag recall but gm is not making any effort to replace the airbag.dash is cracked and appears to be a manufacturing defect.

The dash is cracking in multiple places on driver side above instrument panel and also is cracking around the airbag on passenger side as well, i am worried about the safety of myself as well as my passengers in case of an accident, of pieces flying from dash in case of a frontal collision. Gm needs to recall due to problem

Cracked dashboard on tahoe. Numerous previous owners have filed the same complaint. Gm (chevy) refuse to recall this defective product.

Dash cracked in 2 spots......1 over instrument panel.... 1 at the air bag

Cracked dashboard on driver side. Unsure if related to takata inflators.

Dash is cracked in 2 places on passenger air bag, above driver control panel and right of glove box

2011 chevrolet tahoe ltz - the dash has cracked in multiple places on both sides of the vehicle. Including near both airbags. It not only makes for an extremely noisy and annoying ride, it also poses a safety concern if the air bag deploys and parts of the dash are thrown in the direction of passengers inside the vehicle.

Plastic dashboard has developed several long sharp cracks which have broken off from main dashboard.discontinued driving vehicle due to worry of plastic dislodging and causing harm in event of accident or bumpy road.

Dash has two cracks right above the driver's steering section near the middle. It shakes while driving and causes a tremendous distraction due to the way it flaps. This is also reflected in the windshield during normal driving on interstates and normal state roads. The movement is most noticeable at speeds above 35 mph.i have had the vehicle checked out, tires aligned and balanced, it does not help. This is a dangereous distraction and a dash should not be cracking this quickly, this is a wide problem across many gm trucks and suvs.

Came out to my parked vehicle on the city street and noticed the dashboardis cracked up. There are three cracks causing an ear aching squeaking.two of the cracks are over the stairing wheel going toward the front vent and the other crack is on the driver side, left hand front corner of the air bag hatch towardthe front vent. When the vehicleis in motion you have to turn the volume up on the radio to tune out the ear drum piercing squeak. The cracks came on a hot summer day, i believethat mighthave contributed......

My dash has a large crack just above the instrument panel.

Dash is cracked in multiple places including close to airbag location

Just bought the car about 3 months ago wit only 53000 mike more less and within the past month the dash has started cracking one of the cracks is so close on the edge to the airbag that i have a fear the the air bag system might fail or even get cut on deployment due to a accident and some can get very hurt due to failure on designof dashboard and dealer won't even cover it under warranty and no recall has been done car is less than 5 years old and only has 55000 miles for this to break and with time it will only get worse

The dashboard of my 2011 chevrolet tahoe is cracked and my concern is it will affect the airbag in an emergency situation. It started with a small crack and now is cracked in 3 places. There was no reason why this should have happened.

60000 miles and the dash crackedin front of the steering columnfrom side to side.it's a safety issue because now it's cracking next to the air bag on the passenger side.sharp piece of plastic will come flying if the air bags inflate.

The entire dash in my 2011 chev tahoe is in disintegration.during the last three months it is cracking into many pieces.i understand this has been a problem and is a problem for all owners until 2016.what is gm doing about this factory defect in materials??this is an ongoing problem and is getting worse and cracking across the entire dash.my son has same problem with his 2012 gmc yukon.gm wanted $2000.00 to replace dash unit.this is a major problem if dash comes apart while driving down the road.

While driving on interstate i10 sept 2015, noticed a small crack developed on dash over the instrument cluster hump. Initial crack was approximately 3" and has continued to crack and extend toward the driver position. Dash crack is now 7". Concerned the sharp plastic dash could cause additional injury in the event of an accident. Vehicle has 68,000 miles.

I have a 2011 chevrolet tahoe lt and it has two cracks on the dash. One above the passenger air bag and the other above the odometer.as i search the website i am seeing more and more complaints about the same issue, especially with the gmc yukon, chevrolet tahoe, avalanche and suburban

My 2011 chevrolet tahoe ltz is garage kept. The dashboard began cracking in march 2017 from unknown injury/accident and has progressively worsened. Now, while driving, the entire dashboard makes noise and "flaps" repeatedly. When this began, my car had approximately 79,000 miles and now my car in august 2017 has 85,000 miles.

Takata recall. Suspected defective takata airbag and i have a cracked dashboard which has been reported by thousands of gm customers

Dashboard split several different areas over the instrument panel and passenger airbag

Dashboard cracking around the airbag and over the top of the instrument panel.

Dashboard is cracked over the airbags and over the gauges in front of the driver. Serious safety hazard if the air bags were to go off and send plastic shards flying. Dash was already cracked when i purchased the vehicle and it's scheduled to be fixed.

The dashboard has cracked for the second time since 2011. It was replaced by general motors at ed morse sawgrass chevrolet in sunrise, fl in april of 2014 due to a known problem with defective material causing the dashboards to crack over the instrument panel and front passenger air bag. Now the new dashboard that was installed in my vehicle in 2014 is cracking in the same place as the original dashboard.i contacted general motors and ed morse sawgrass chevrolet and they have acknowledged the defect, but refuse to fix the problem stating it is not a safety hazard, which is not true. With the dashboard cracking, it is causing sharp loose pieces of plastic that can impale the occupants in a sudden stop and/or collision. The problem is not caused due to weather exposure because my vehicle is garage kept with only 48,000 miles. This problem is widespread and lawsuits are pending throughout the united states due to the problem. A recall needs to be issued.

Front dash board has cracked in two places.

Dash board cracked by passenger air bag possibly compromising safety. Fearful that air bag stability has been compromised.

Dash board crack.the dealer repaired it several years ago and it has cracked again and come loose from the panel under the windsheild.

My dash is cracking and breaking around my airbag. This seems like it could be very dangerous in a crash. I'm worried that either the airbag won't deploy as it should or if it does, there will be shards of plastic dash flying around in the cab. Nothing happened to the dash, it just started cracking.

Cracking dash

Dashboard has cracked where the airbag panel is. Vehicle was stationary to my knowledge.

Front dash cracking and small pieces are loose and come loose and can hit the passenger or driverin the eye

Vehicle was stationary. Dashboard cracked in two spots over time. Vehicle has not been in an accident. First crack was noted over the instrument panel of the vehicle's gauges that are used to determine speed, rpms, etc. Second was noted adjacent to the front passenger airbag. If the vehicle were in an accident, the cracked dashboard could puncture the airbag rendering the airbag unusable and allowing for more bodily harm and possibly fatality. Also, if the vehicle were in an accident and the airbags did deploy without being punctured, the cracked dashboard could then become shrapnel causing more bodily harm and possibly fatality to anyone that is a passenger in the vehicle. I urge the nhtsa to look into this matter and research it heavily. Chevrolet and gm are aware that this is a common issue with many of their vehicles of the '07-'11 models, yet refuse to take any corrective action. I obtained a repair estimate from a certified chevrolet dealership for $761.63.

Dashboard is cracking

Top of dashboard cracked - no accident involved.i have concerns about the airbag working properly now.dealer wants $1,000 to fix it.

A random crack, about 2" long, appeared in dash just above and to the right of steering wheel. Further research showed that this is a common occurrence with this make and mode during 2007-2011 and gm is aware but is doing nothing about it.

The dashboard is cracked from different areas throughout the dashboard. I'm concerned the dashboard will break completely while driving. I can't afford to fix the problem and replace the dashboard. The trunk door won't open. I had to pay the dealer $900 to have it replaced. I would like to get reimbursed since a car should open its trunk door. Its an suv and i should be able to put things in the trunk without any problems.

Crack in dash near instrument panel and air bag on passenger side. Crack is still getting larger. This is a safety hazard. Gm should issue a recall and repair.

Cracks in the dash board.one near the instrument cluster and the other at the passenger side air bag.

Front dash has 2 cracks, one around the passenger air bag and the other is on the driver side.

Came out of work in january and found the dashboard is cracked behind the steering wheel.

Vehicle never been in accident only has 39,000 miles and has 3 cracks spidering off one another on driver side dash board

2011 chevrolet tahoe.only have 82000 miles on it.it has developed a crack in the dash on the drivers side that is also causing a rattle. It keeps getting longer.

The top of dash board has cracked on the driver side

I'm not sure why i rec'd the recall notice on the 2011 chevy tahoe. I traded that car in back in october 2014. Please remove me from your mailing for this vehicle. Thank you

I have had this vehicle since 2011 and it is used as my vehicle to and from work.itā€™s stored in the garage and covered at work. During covid, i did not work on site, so it was stored in the garage for 18 months. When i returned to work, i noticed a crack in the dash board in two places. It has no sun damage, no exterior damage.i am aware of a class action lawsuit with cracked dashboards.i was also informed by repair shop and my insurance that tahoeā€™s (2007-2014) have issues with the dashboards cracking. Repair shop said my car is in excellent condition and this is a defect with this car. Https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.carparts.com/blog/the-latest-on-the-gm-cracked-dash-issue/amp/

Driving on highway at night. Go to high beams and motor immediately begins to rev up/down, and run erratic. Switch beams to normal position=it stops. When depressing key fob to open and close doors, it only works frequently. Bizarre electrical issue....

Dash cracked in multiple places forcing us to replace at the dealer over safety concerns if in accident. Dealer would not replace as out of warranty

Dash is cracking around passenger side airbag and the instrument cluster. This is unsafe because in the event of passenger airbag deploying, shards of cracked dash can become projectiles. Many complaints on internet about same issue, no resolution from gm.

My 2011 started making a chirping noise. The mechanic thought it was the belts so he replaced them. Still chirped. He took it to a chevy dealer and they said its the lifters. Was told that they have been a problem on that type of engine. Because it gas 135,000 miles they say its not covered. Many reported issues on line but no recall

Cracked dashboard.airbag deployment may cause deadly plastic debris flying about.

Crack appeared yesterday (06/21/16) in the dash - at the upper left corner of the passenger airbag compartment.

Cracks appearing on the dashboard. Tahoe is gently used and garaged. Severe vibrations of the dashboard, when driving, is causing the cracks. The central speaker on the dash also vibrates.

I believe this is a safety hazard due to the possibility of an airbag injury.

The dashboard has a diagonal crack from the upper left hand corner of the air bag cover toward the driver and window. It is approximately 1 inch long and .060 wide. There is also a crack on the dash above the instrument gauges that is approximately 3 inches long and some what thin and jagged. It starts slight left of the drivers line of sight where there is a transition radius and runs toward the windshield. Both of these cracks occurred during freezing outside temperatfures.

2011 tahoe dashboard is cracked, by passenger side airbag, potentially causing a dangerous condition.

The dash on my 2011 is cracking. It started out with a little crack and is spreading above the steering wheel.

Cracked dashboard. - severely cracked in 3 locations (other smaller cracks). Dashboard unstable when driving, rattles, vibrates in cracked locations.

The dash has cracked in three places two are where the passenger air bag is on the dash. The worst one is above the steering wheel. It cracked bad split a piece fell down inside. We have tape over it to keep it together. This could be very dangerous if a collision happens. This tahoe is kept in our garage. Upon researching your web site i see 45 complaints pertaining to the same problem. I stopped on page sixteen. That seems more than enough to make the manufacture to replace the dash at their expense. The qualified dealership charges over $1000 to replace the dash. Please help.

Dashboard cracked next to the corner of the passenger side airbag cover. Noticed when i got in tahoe which is garage kept in the northeast.

I have a 2011 tahoe which i purchased new.it has always been parked in a covered parking garage during the day and in my covered carport in the evenings.it has 58,000. Miles and while cleaning the truck i noticed a crack in the dash on the drivers side approximately 3.5 inches long and another crack on the passengers side, in the corner of where the airbag is located.i am very concerned that in case of an accident these cracks could jeopardize the integrityof the airbags.the dealership has stated that i would have to incure the cost of replacement.this truck is still in absolute perfect condition otherwise.

Dashboard of suv has small crack that is growing and starting to separate the dash into two sections.

Dash has cracked right above the instrument cluster (15 inch crack) and just above the passenger's side airbag compartment.this is a safety issue, whcih should be addressed by the manufacturer.

Its the dash that keeps craking for no reason

The upper part of the dash has several cracks around the defrost outlets and airbag compartment

Dash cracked on drivers side above instrument panel under normal operation conditions.

I have two cracks in the dashboard that makes the dashboard flop, and i'm worried it may affect the airbags.i am the original owner, the truck has never been in a wreck, never place any items on the dash, and i use a visor to protect the dash during work, and the truck is garaged when i'm at home.the dealer said it will cost approx. $1,000 to replace!why would i replace a defective dash? this should be a recall!

Cracked dashboard. The dashboard is cracked on the passenger side from the airbag towards the windshield and on the drivers side started at the seam and is creeping toward the steering wheel above the speedometer.

Dash is cracking around passenger airbag and above instrument cluster.concerned that if airbags went off dash pieces would impale driver and/or passengers.

Dashboard is cracked on both sides driver and passenger and general motors refuses to pay for it!! this should require a recall and the nhtsa has done absolutely nothing this could be life threatening!!!! i guess you guys aren't doing your jobs that the american citizens are paying for!!

Dashboard cracking over instrument panel and corner of passenger airbag.

Cracking of dash at airbag

My vehicle has a cracked dash directly above the instrument panel and over to the passenger side airbag. I heard a "pop" while the vehicle was in motion on hwy 41 in kennesaw, ga and spotted the crack after stopping to investigate.

My dashboard has cracked over the instrument panel.i have had it replaced, but i'm worried it will happen again.i have spoke to people that have had theirs replaced, but had the new one crack too.i feel if i were to ever get into an accident shards of flimsy plastic will be blown on me.

The dash has started cracking. If i were in an accident i feel that the dash would crack more and throw pieces into the face of the driver and or passenger.

I received a notice today stating that the airbags on my 2011 chevy tahoe are defective and need to be replaced. I understand replacement of the defective bags would be at no cost to me.please let me know what to do next. My local chevy dealer is delillo chevrolet, here in huntington beach, california.dave weige

Dash cracked in multiple places withoutany force nor intentional damage.a sunshade has been used since purchasing the vehicle new; i am the original owner.

My dashboard starting cracking abovethe instrument panel. You can hear it cracking as you are operating the vehicle and continues to crack depending on hot and cold temps.

There is a crack in the left upper side of the dash where the passenger airbag is. This happened with around 60k miles on it.

There is a recall, no gm has not issued a solution to replace the airbags.safety issue plus dashboard cracked on passenger side at the seam where the airbag is located.dealership does not have an answer to resolve problem.

The dashboard has a crack along the airbag door. This is a safety hazard if the airbag should deplore the crack is complete across the narrow dash. In an accident the air bag may or may not operate properly consider this to be a highly unsafe condition requiring proper repair.vehicle has always been kept in garage unless traveling therefore feel this a factory defect that needs immediate attention

Dashboard is cracked from the corner of the passenger airbag cover to the seam in the dash panel need the defroster. We were involved in a rear end accident and the crack appeared after the accident. I'm concerned it could affect the air bag deploying.

Dashboard cracked while driving on the highway

Dash board had developed cracks in it.it is very loose and rattles.cracks are over instrument cluster and between the windshield and the air bag.

Cracked dashboard. Multiple cracks including one by passenger airbag.

The dash has cracked from the drivers side just above the gauge cluster to the passenger side airbag. The dash is cracked in 3 different locations. See attached pics.

Vehicle has a cracked dash next to the pass anger side air bag

One day while driving i noticed a small crack in my dashboard right above the left side of passenger airbag panel cover.

I have a crack in my dash that is near the top left hand corner of my airbag panel.also, there is another crack that goes over the top of my instrument panel.the cracks appeared out of nowhere.the vehicle was not involved in any kind of wreck.the cracks were pointed out to me when i took the vehicle in for an oil change appx. Six months ago.i am trying to trade in my vehicle andi am getting$1,000 hit on the trade-in amount offered.the more i investigate it seems this is a common problem.why has there not been a recall????????????????

Dashboard cracking

The dashboard has cracked in several places and has an impact on the value of my vehicle.

Takata recall- my dash is cracked from drivers column to the passenger airbag.other cracks in the surface are starting to form...i hope my family is never in a crash it bothers me to think the dashboard will crumble, break apart and couldcause other injuries.

The dash board has several cracks in it. When asked a dealer about it they said this was very common for chevys. It's interesting that this information is posted all over the internet, why would chevrolet compromise customer satisfaction. Also the side trim is falling off

The dashboard of my 2011 chevrolet tahoe has cracked in 4 places.the first cracks appeared approximately 18 months after i purchased the suv.these cracks may have a safety problem as they may affect the air bag operation.the tahoe has spent most of its' life in a garage when not in use.i tried to glue the first 2 cracks.

The dash is cracked in multiple places from one side to the other. The major concern is the cracked area around the passenger airbag. There's no doubt pieces of the dash will become flying debris if the airbag is deployed. I currently have an aftermarket cover on the dash to hopefully keep that from happening. Also, therattling of the dash will absolutely drive you crazy on any length of drive time.after doing a little research, this problem appears to an epidemic for 07-13 models and chevrolet shoulddo something about it.

Dash has 2 different cracks in it. Unrelated to anything.

I noticed several tahoe owners are also complaining about cracked dashboard for their vehicle.my is above the steering wheel and have spread down about 12 inches. I also agree that it could be dangerous if the airbag is deployed with cracked dash that can cause plastic fragments.in addition, i am very disappointed with the quality of 2011 chevy tahoe when it is was priced in upper $50'sk when new.i have owned 2 others in the past with no issues.the plastic material used for constructing the 2011 tahoe dashboard is too thin.with all these complaints, what haven't chevy put out a recall?

The dash is cracking in multiple areas and is very concerning to me for the safety of my family. While driving the dash is bouncing approximately 1-2 inches and worries me that it would send pieces of plastic flying if ever involved in a traffic accident.

Dash cracked then the piece fell out for no reason

The dash board of the trucks is cracking. It has five cracks now and getting longer. It started to crack within the first 4 years.

Dashboard is cracked over the steering wheel cowl and by the passenger airbag. Vehicle is garage kept and cracked within a few years of purchase (like maybe 3 years).

I got into my vehicle and noticed a crack on the dashboard above the instrument panel. That crack became two cracks and now there is one forming by the passenger airbag. This vehicle has never been in an accident. It has just under 18,000 miles and is in immaculate condition.after investigating this online it seems to be a common issue with multiple people reporting the same cracks. I am working with the dealer to replace this (and it will cost me out of my own pocket for part of this) but his seems to be a defect and i think a recall might be warranted.

1) rear windows hold water when it rains causing doors to rust2) dashboard driver side at some time cracked itselfall over cheap flawed designs and definitely the last gm i'll own

The dash on my vehicle has broken 2x and is broken again causing the dash to allow an opening where items can fall into the airbag compartment causing the bag to malfunction.

Dashboard is cracked on both sides driver and passenger and general motors refuses to pay for it!! this should require a recall and the nhtsa has done absolutely nothing this could be life threatening!i

Cracked dash board above instrument cluster and around airbag.

Dashboard is cracked in front of the driver.hard plastic knife like structure are exposed to passengers.also cracked on the passenger side airbag area. Chevrolet states it is cosmetic.this is potentially a hazard for the occupants.

The dash is cracking around the air bags

There is a major crack that appeared on the dashboard at the base of the steering section, closest to the windshield.

Dash cracking and falling apart. In four separate locations. They just getting bigger.

Takata recall

The dashboard is cracked in several places. This has occurred over a period of years and is not a result of an accident. The vehicle has been stored in a garage its entire life.

The upper dashboard on my 2011 chevy tahoe has numerous cracks and is literally falling apart. It should be noted that it is also a major safety hazard, because a cracked dashboard, particularly one that is damaged around the passenger-side airbag, can yield flying projectiles in the event that an accident triggers the airbag to deploy. Apparently this is a well-known and documented issue but gm has yet to issue a recall or offered to investigate at all on a case by case basis.

Crack on dash near air bag - this happened a few weeks ago so i started doing online research on this and found this is a common defect with gms dashes. Found this facebook group "07-13 gm cracked dash safety hazard for all trucks" and realized several people are having this issue. I called the local dealership and was told it's a known problem, but no recall has been issued yet. She told me in the meantime to make sure i keep a car shade on when it's outside (which i already do).she also said there is a chance i will see additional cracks over time. My concern is if the air bag were to deploy, would the crack cause my dash or parts of it to shatter and/or make the airbag less effective.

2011 chevy tahoe 24k miles dash cover is cracked. Vehicle is meticulously maintained and the dash has cracked. Worried about further degradation especially around air bag as this seems to be a widespread issue with this vehicle.

Dash cracked at driver side over instrument panel and on dash at passenger airbag while vehicle not in use parked at residence.

'service airbag' message appeared on my dashboard screen. Possibly connected to numerous cracks on passenger and driver side. Vehicle has approximately 90k miles. Cracks appeared when it had approximately 40k miles. Dealer said it was not covered at that time.

I purchased the above used vehicle last summer and the dash at that time had two cracks one on each side of the dash. The cracks are located close to the front airbags one crack has now ran more than half way up over the instrument panel. I had filed a complaint with the bbb and then had spoke with an individual from gm they paid to have the vehicle inspected. Well i just feel like the cracks pose a safety hazard if the dash is that weak that it has cracked then what will happen if i was in accident the dash going to explode or maybe even make the airbags malfunction. Gm refuses to fix the dash i am sorry that is not acceptable this problem has apparently been going on for a good while. Why would a company not want to address this problem and avoid possible lawsuits. It's kinda like a wellness program do preventative checkups to save money in the future. These vehicle cost way to much to have such weak and unsupported dashes. I am not the only one who has complained about this and yet nothing is being done. This makes no sense to me at all this needs to be addressed and thoroughly examined. This tahoe also seems to have other issues it rides like a log wagon and put brand new tires on it last august. Now the front cap is peeling off and it appears to have been touched up it looks like someone took something and just put black spots all over the front. The tahoe is not driven on gravel roads and is not mistreated. I have had several suv's and this is the worst one i have owned and i am very disappointed. I will not recommend anyone to buy a suv made by gm because they do not want to take care of the problem at hand.

Purchased vehicle used in november 2015. There was a crack in the dashboard adjacent to the passenger side airbag. It currently has not gotten worse. In the last two days a new larger crack seems to be progressing on the hump of dash above the steering wheel. After researching it seems this is a consistent issue with this model for years 2007-2011. My coworker has a 2007 and has suffered with same problems. Another coworker who owns a toyota received official information telling her that there are issues relating to cracking dashboards and if it is near the airbag the airbag can spontaneously deploy and not to let people sit in the front seat. If this is the same for the tahoe i am deeply concerned for my safety and others who ride with me. Especially since this vehicle is apart of airbag recall and is waiting to be fixed. The crack was noticed while the vehicle was stationary. Earlier in the week while driving to work i heard a cracking sound but did not see anything obvious at the time.

Dashboard has two major cracks and the center of the dash is ffalling in because of it.

Dash board cracking in two places- by passenger airbag and on drivers side above odometer. The cracks are progressing to larger cracks and can be of safety issue.

While the vehicle was stationary, the dashboard cracked just above the instrument panel.there are 2 cracks.one is about 4 inches while the other is about two inches.after some research, it appears this is a very common problem with gm vehicles.

The dash is cracking. Vehicle looks brand new except for the dash. Starting to get cracks on each side. What i have seen, this is an on going problem.

Dash cracked by airbag may cause defective airbag issues

The dash is breaking apart in at least 4 places. My wife and i fear that if the air bags are deployed, either from accident or fault, the shrapnel will kill us.i will post pictures if approached...to large for your specification.

Cracked dash - the dash on the car has cracks in multiple areas near air bag and over the odomoter.very common issue on this car.chevy even improved this piece for future cars but wont acknowledge this was a defect to begin with.

Dashboard has 3 cracks.one next to passenger airbag, one that starts close to windshield and moves towards the dash gauges straight at the driver and the last one is next to the gauge crack but smaller.it seems this is a constant problem with gm.it has to be a safety issue with it being next to airbag and in front of driver as well.these cracks appear because of the cheap plastic and nothing else.

The dash has cracked by the passenger airbag, and on the left side of the instrument cluster. This all began at 46k miles. I have never used any chemicals on the dash, and keep a sunshade in the windshield

My dash cracked out of the blue one day about two weeks ago. It started out as two small cracks on each side of the top center vent by the windshield. I have the 2011 chevy tahoe ltz version with a speaker in the middle of the dash. The speaker doesn't appear to have any support for the weight of the speaker and the dash cracks have now grown towards the instrument panel and also by the driver side airbag. The cracks are on both sides of the center speaker and now the speaker just constantly flops up and down with normal driving. The flopping speaker with no (support) is causing the crack to get worse and worse. The cracks are spider webbing now and getting much longer everyday i drive it to work. While researching what todo about this issue i discovered that several thousand complaints have been made about multiple gm model vehicles having cracked dash boards between the years of 2007 and 2014. The dash cover option being suggested to hide the cracks is in no way a safe and reliable solution to this issue because it interferes with the manufacturers airbag safety design and and specified assured clearance for deployment. The covers do not adhere to the rated specification of the air bag. Anyone who has ever worked in a plant where the air bags are manufactured knows how precise and specific these strict guidelines and specifications are held to.

Dash is cracking around passenger side airbag.this is unsafe because in the event of passenger airbag deploying, shards of cracked dash can become projectiles. Many complaints on internet about same issue, no resolution from gm.

Dash cracking real bad.

Ignition lock actuator bind making turning the key difficult and causing the ignition to get stuck in the start position even when turning the car off.

Takata recall, my dashboard has 2 cracks in it,,,,over the airbag on the passenger side, then over the instruments on the drivers side.

My dash board . My dash board has been cracked for the last year i'm scared the airbag might pop . I see the complains all day online , i love my tahoe but that dash is crazy to hear chevy doesn't want replace it . If any one knows who's i need to call please reply .

I have a 2011 chevy tahoe z71. I was getting in the vehicle and seen that the dash had a crack. I hadn't hit anything, had an accident, nor speeding prior to seeing this. I see that its an ongoing issue with chevy.

The dashboard has multiple cracks now that developed by themselves.i noticed one crack one day and a few weeks later, i noticed other cracks in the dashboard.

Recently, i have noticed a rattle coming from the dash area. I noticed there was a crack in the dash to the upper left of the passenger side dash airbag. There's also another place on the dash that has cracked and causes a loud rattling noise when driving. I cannot pinpoint exactly when the cracked happened. But, after doing some research, i found out that it is a very common defect in certain gmc vehicles for years 2007-2014. I personally know two people that own gmc/chevy suvs that have the same exact crack on the top area of the dash. I am mainly concerned that in the event my airbag does deploy, there could be shrapnel because of the location and severity of the crack. Also, there is no way of knowing if this crack would at all interfere with the deployment of the passenger side airbag.

2011 chevrolet tahoe. Consumer states problem with windows fogging up *tgwthe consumer stated while driving, the windows began to fog up on the sides.the consumer believed the problem had to do with the temperature drop by a few degrees. The consumer stated the third time while driving, the front windshield became fogged, and then all of the windows fogged up. It took over 20 minutes to clear the windows. The dealer informed the consumer a bulletin had been issued which stated the recirculation door was not closing all the way. They also stated gm tech's had no idea what was causing it.

I am 6ft 1in tall and when i sit in the truck with the seat in its lowest position, leaves me with 1-2 inches of head space, i can not adjust the outside mirrors enough to safely see down the sides of the truck.the mirrors do not flair out or up enough for me to safely see into the adjacent lanes on either side of the truck.i sat in several tahoes and the mirrors were all the same.i have remediated the problem, some what, by attaching a convex mirror to each of my side mirrors.when the mirrors are fully flared up and out, half of the image i see in the mirrors is of my own truck.

Vehicle visibility issue.all inside windows fog up on a regular basis during cold weather driving.visibility becomes completely blocked making driving very dangerous. A layer of ice actually forms inside the windshield which takes up to 20 minutes to clear using just the vehicles defrosters with the fan set to the highest speed.the front driver and passenger windows do not ever clear completely in cold weather.this is very frustrating as i have never had this happen on any of my previous gm vehicles.this is an ongoing problem and if a fix cannot be determined, i may be forced to replace this vehicle.

Cracked dash above airbag and instrument cluster.

Spontaneous windshield crack, originating form passenger side upper right corner to center of windshield; approx 8" long. Crack in dash perpendicular to passenger airbag area, approx 2" long. Vehicle was parked in covered garage for 72 hours, discovered upon next use.

Factory wheels are have been deteriorating heavily. Gm offered an option package for this model year for 22" chrome wheels, specifically chrome 5409 wheels. The chrome plating has been aggressively separating and pealing from the interior of the wheels and most recently 1 of my wheels rotted all the way through requiring replacement. I take care of my vehicles and this problem was unavailable and clearly a manufacturing quality defect. I am now forced to consider absorbing the exorbitant cost of replacing all 4 wheels to ensure the safety of my family.
