The dashboard is cracking in several places. One location is right above the instrument cluster. The other is around the passenger side airbag. This is a safety hazard as an airbag deployment could result in plastic breaking free and become flying projectiles within the cabin. Like many other vehicles with this same issue, the vehicle is well maintained, garage kept, and in good working order. The way that gm designed the dashboards and the materials used for the dashboards are the reason for this issue. Both gm and our local dealership have denied me any assistance in having the dashboard replaced.

2010 tahoe ltz dash is cracking above the instrument panel and on the passenger side at the airbag site.this has happened over time, the dashboard bounces up and down even on smooth roads.
The dash at the corner of my passenger side airbag cracked and now the entire dash rattles.i am worried about how this affects the airbag now.the dash was vibrating so much and it just keeps getting worse.i have looked online and apparently, i am not even close to being the only one with this problem.please help!
"takata recall" i finally got a letter from gm stating my vehicle was under the recall about 9 months ago, it said i would be notified when the replacement air bag was available. I still have not been notified and i recently went to a gm dealer and was told the same thing. In the meantime i feel like my wife is driving around in a time bomb! i think it's about time they got it fixed.
Tried to get takata airbags replaced, and dealership refuses to help.
My dash is cracked in 4 different places.one crack extends to the airbag and i am afraid if the airbag were to deploy pieces of the dash would break off and potentially hit someone. It is also very annoying because it rattles constantly.
My dash board is cracked over the instrument cluster, and around the passenger air bag. The instrument panel crack appeared right at 42,000 miles, and the passenger air bag crack happened at 51,000 miles. My chevy dealer says it is "cosmetic" so they will not cover any of the repairs, even though i am still under the "certified pre-owned" warranty. But it's going to be more than cosmetic if that air bag ever goes off. It is going to send plastic shrapnel every where. The dealer quoted me $900 to replace the dash, and says they would be putting the same dash back in, so it would more than likely just crack again. I am on a face book page (gm yukon and tahoe cracked dash) with 576 members that have the exact same problem. Something needs to be done about this.
I purchased my chevrolet tahoe in march of 2014.i noticed two cracks in the plastic dashboard shortly thereafter near the airbag location.i am very surprised there has not been a recall as these cracks are only going to grow and impact the entire dash membrane that houses the major control systems of the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the air bag waring light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vehicle was included to nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) but the part was not available for the recall repair. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were contacted or made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
The dashboard has developed cracks that will become flying shards of hard plastic if the airbag deploys.
Purchased vehicle in october 2015. Did not see a crack at time of purchase. Was wiping down the dash one day and noticed a small crack up the center of the steering column. That was mid january. Has now cracked from the middle above the steering column across the dash to the left side corner of the air bag compartment. Dash is unstable. Concerned it will cause airbag to go off prematurely. If in an accident and the airbag were to deploy could send pieces into passengers like shrapnel.
The dashboard has two cracks. The first crack, extending from front to back on the passenger side from the front edge of the dashboard back into the cover (left front corner) of the passenger airbag, appeared the week of june 29, 2015. The second crack began approximately 3 weeks later on the driver's side of dashboard. It started on the right side of the dome portion covering the instrument panel. The crack progressed approximately 1 1/2 inches and split into a "v" shape and is continuing up the dome. Our safety concerns are twofold. First, is the crack at the airbag going to interfere with it's proper function or pierce it upon deployment. Second, if we're involved in a wreck, will the sharp points of plastic dash involved in the driver's side crack cause injuries if the forces of a collision turn them into projectiles. This problem with gm/chevy dashboards is widespread and it must be addressed and rectified before someone gets injured due to the company's negligence.
Takata form notice was presented to the service dept, they told me to go to the site on the back of the form and follow those directions. They told me they did not have the part to repair my car and did not know when they would and that chevrolet was denying there may even be a problem. I want my airbag fixed or replaced to a safe system.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The vehicle was taken to keyes chevrolet (5949 van nuys blvd, van nuys, ca 91401), but the part was not available for the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
The dashboard has cracked near the air bag on the passenger side which appear to be a safety issue if it may cut or impair the proper inflation of the airbag.
Takata recall- dealer stated they are not making repairs
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed three times in order for the vehicle to slow down. The contact stated that the vehicle ran off the road into a ditch. The air bags did not deploy and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000. Updated 11/09/15*ljthe consumer has since sold the vehicle. Updated 12/15/15.
Dashboard has been cracking around passenger side airbag area, concerning me that if god forbid an accident happened and the airbag was deployed on passenger side, shards of this cracked dashboard could be dispersed into the area, causing possible laceration or fatal harm to passenger and driver.when investigating, i found this to be very common in this vehicle make and model, with many many people( thousands of them) posting pictures and describing the same issue in "the exact same spots"!!!!. Also, the cracks seem to happen over the steering column in addition to the passenger airbag, causing more safety concerns that driving components could now be exposed to damaging heat and ice rays affecting driving safety.i have brought this issue to gm dealership where i purchased car, and they have ignored me. I have also called corporate, and they have also offered no assistance.there is approximately 20,000 people on a web forum called "change.org.", that have explained identical concerns for airbag safety with these cracking dashboards, and the petition has even been brought to gm ceo attention.i am concerned for my families well-being and lives, if ever i was in an accident where these airbags deploy.the cracked dashboard in that area could be a potential lethal weapon causing harm.thank you
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) exceeded a reasonable amount of time for repair. The contact received the recall notification in may of 2015. The manufacturer was contacted and advised the contact to park the vehicle and wait for the part to become available. The contact stated that the dashboard was fractured near the driver and passenger air bag areas. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
My 2010 chevy tahoe ltz dashboard is cracked across the top and especially around the passanger airbag area. It is very brittle and cracks more all the time.if the airbag was to deploy it could send shards of the dash board through out the vehicle, potentially causing injury from flying debris.i have looked into this issue and it seems to be a common issue on these trucks. For me and my family's safety and everyone else who has this issue,i hope it can be looked into and resolved before someone is injured or killed.
Dash board is cracking near air bag area and over gauges on drivers side. This could be a problem in a crash due to dash pieces flying around in the event if the air bag deploying.
My dashboard had cracked in 2 places. One is right next to the airbag and its forcing the whole dash to shake. I'm hoping the cracks don't affect the airbag if it's ever needed. I have read thousands of complaints about the tahoe dashboard cracking. I'm wondering why their isn't a recall on this piece due to them all cracking by the passenger airbag.
My dash has cracked in multiple places around the passenger airbag. I have seen this on every tahoe i looked at when i was in the market and am shocked that gm hasn't recalled the part or the nhtsa hasn't forced gm to correct the issue. What scares me is that the broken plastic might puncture the airbag or be throw if the airbag were to ever deploy.
The dashboard has cracked over the airbag and if the airbag deploys there will be shards of plastic propelled as shrapnel throughout the car.the crack appeared after using the defrosters on a cold day.there was no impact to the dashboard nor any weight placed on it.it was just a "crack" sound and it appeared.
Takata recall.airbag light stays on due to a defect
I came out to start my car one day and noticed that my dash board cracked in two places. It seems like it happened over night theres a huge crack splitting into another one above my steering wheel and another crack on the crease of the passenger side air bag which is causing it to lift and looks like it could set off the airbag unexpectedly. Very dangerous especially as i have children in the car on a daily basis.
The vehicle was taken to chevrolet of spartanburg (located at 1051 asheville hwy, spartanburg, sc 29303, (864) 641-7243), but the part was not available for the repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Cracked dashboard. This is a common issue gm fails to acknowledge. The danger is the plastic shattering if the airbag deploys and because of the material defect in the plastic, large sharp shards can be shot into the cabin area if airbag deploys (shrapnel).
Dash board has cracked directly behind drivers side gauges. Also has cracked on passenger front left corner of dash air bag. This is defiantly a safety issue plastic shrapnel could be project if the bag is deployed. Please recall this problem.

Dash is completely cracked above the airbag which could be a safety hazard of flying debris if the airbag should deploy. Also the middle bench seat 60 side randomly closes which is a huge hazard as my children ride back there
Cracks have formed in the dashboard for no reason. It started with one crack above the instrument cluster, which continues to worsen, and now one has formed by the passenger airbag, which has me concerned for safety should the airbag need to deploy.
Takata inflators: this recall has been in affect since 2016 and every dealership says there is no remedy to fix this problem. What is the hold up of getting this issue fixed? will it take more injuries or deaths to get things moving. I have a 3 yr old who sits behind me in the middle seat. If this inflator would happen to inflate and explode, we would both be injured and that won't sit to well with me knowing this recall started in 2016.

Recall for passenger-side airbag has not been performed after being requested and parts being on order since june 2016. Cannot obtain an expected parts delivery date from my dealer.
Around 40,000 miles the dash cracked above the instrument panel and around the passenger airbag.if there is an accident and the airbag deploys, i'm afraid it will send fragmented pieces of dash into the vehicle occupants.additionally, i have concerns whether the jagged edges of plastic could potentially puncture the airbag upon deployment.this is a common occurrence and can be found with complaints all over the internet.here is one example:https://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/gm_tahoe.html
The dashboard keeps cracking.i have had it replaced twice now and it needs to be replaced again. I amconcerned about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) was received in may. After contacting the dealer and the manufacturer on multiple occasions, the contact was informed that the parts needed for the recall remedy were still not available and no estimated time for receiving the parts could be provided. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Takata recall. Its been a year since getting any new information on this particular recall and now my dashboard is cracking!!! called all chevy dealers in honolulu and its going to cost an arm and a leg to get my dashboard changed!!! very unacceptable that gm won't fix this problem. I just finsished my extended warranty and now this happens!!!! come on gm, fess up to this prpblem!!!!!
Driving along one day at 45 mph and the dashboard just cracked. Mine has cracked over the instrument panel. I have a friend who has the same crack as well as a crack over the air bag on the passenger side. The cracked dash is a known problem that needs to be corrected, i am also concerned what may happen if the air bag goes off with what is obviously a brittle dash.
I have a 2010 chev tahoe that is in excellent condition. My dash both front and back has cracks.i take very good care of my tahoe which you can tell by the condition it is in both outside and inside. In fact, i still have the plastic protector cover over the lens on the radio. General motors should have a recall on the dashes. Also, my air bag made by takata needs to be replaced!!!i have spoken with dealerships in my area and both of these 2 things have been a big concern with customers.gm needs to step up and take care of their customers!
The dashboard on my 2010 chevrolet tahoe has two severe cracks...one above the instrument panel and the other beside the passenger side airbag. It would seem that this crack could interfere with the effectiveness of the airbag. This is a known issue with these vehicles.
"takata recall"what is taking so long to issue the gm recall.takata believes that the gm airbags have the same issues that other manufacturers' airbags have had, but the nhtsa is dragging its feet regarding the issuance of the recall.you issued the original recall 2.5 years ago.you have had gm's petition for at least a year (assuming it was timely filed).this is ridiculous.what could be taking you so long? you are putting people's lives at risk.is there a reason that you think the airbags issued to gm by takata are less dangerous than those issued to other manufacturers?stop trying to help gm protect its' pocket books at the expense of people's lives.do your job.issue the same recall that you have issued for the other manufacturers.
Bought my tahoe a year ago in perfect condition. I clean it 2 to 3 times a month due to having 5 kids. Last month i was pulling out of the driveway and heard a loud pop. The next time i cleaned it, it had a crack to the right upper side of the passenger airbag. 2 days ago i was cleaning the dash and there is another huge crack above the steering column. I thought it was just my vehicle and see all these complaints. I've always owned chevy and have never had this issue! if anything happens to my babies because of this defect, i'll own gm. I'm scared to have anyone sit in the passenger seat. You should never feel uncomfortable or unsafe driving a $24,000 vehicle! taking to dealership to see how much it will be to replaced and how much more money i'll have to add to fix a defect that isn't my fault.
I noticed that the dash in my 2010 chevrolet tahoe ltz is cracked above the air bag on passenger side. I also have read where this is something that is happening to lot of tahoes , suburbans and yukons etc. This should be unacceptable for the amount of money i and many other people spend on these vehicles . Something should be done about this. My tahoe stays garage kept out of the sun and this still happened.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that cracks appeared on the dashboard by the front passenger side air bag location. The contact was uncertain if the air bag components would be affected due to the failure impacting the structural integrity of the dashboard. The dealer (clay cooley chevrolet, 1251 e airport fwy, irving, tx 75062, (469) 351-0319) was contacted and informed the contact that there was no warranty, no recall, and that the vehicle would need to be diagnosed so that they could order the part for the dashboard repairs. In addition, the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The dealer stated that the part was unavailable and did not know when it would arrive. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and indicated that there was no warranty or recall, and suggested that the dealer repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was not available.
Takata recallall star chevrolet states parts not available 11/17 then again 2/18, yet recall was in 7/16
Dashboard got 2 big cracks and i don't feel safe driving my tahoe. It has been garage kept at home and work. Very cheap made dashboard.
I have read thousands of complaints about the dashboard being cracked. Mine has done the same and i had taken it to the dealer to see if it was covered under warranty and they had told me no because it did not come from the factory like that. I'm thinking well no [xxx], have an electrical issue/powertrain issue/engine issue/ etc it's probably not going to come from the factory with the issue. Anyway i am trying to contact chevrolet to fix the issue and/or put out a recall for the problem. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Three large (and growing) cracks in my dashboard. One around the housing of the airbag.the other two are above the steering wheel. Very concerned that if air bag deploys, dash material from broken piece may become a projectile or puncture the airbag not allowing it to work. I see gm says it is a know design defect but there is no recall. Chevrolet dealer told me it is #1 repaired item on tahoe.
Takata recall ..my children are riding in the tahoe with defective air bags for 8 years i am deeply concerned when will it be fixed
Dashboard cracked on passenger side at upper left corner of airbag. Safety concern since plastic is cracked.cannot get answer on takata recall notice.
There are 2 cracks on the dash, one on each side which could cause harm/death to the passengers because of flying plastic should an airbag deploy.i have contacted the dealer and gm with negative results.it was first noticed in april 2015 and the vehicle had less than 32,000 miles.
Dash panel began cracking above instrument panel and spread both ways to drivers side and all the way to the passenger side air bag. It is now cracking on the other side of the airbag. Huge safety issue if the airbag were to deploy! panel shards would either pop airbag or stab a passenger.
Takata recall - i received a recall notice over a year ago.i call the dealer on a monthly basis and to date, they still do not have an eta for a fix.my wife is uncomfortable driving her tahoe and since there is an active recall, our resale value is impacted as well.

Takata recall: i have not received any information regarding the recall of the passenger airbag recall for my 2010 chevy tahoe.
Dash cracking could cause damage to airbag and sharp shrapnel if airbag deploys.
The dashboard on my chev tahoe 2010 is cracked in two places.i heard the very loud pop sound when it cracked.
Multiple cracks on top of dashboard on both driver and passenger sides near airbag.
The dashboard of my 2010 tahoe has multiple cracks and is broken all over from no fault of my own. This has been an issue for many people with gm vehicles of this nature and the company won't help me repair or replace my dash. I'm scared that if i get into an accident that the airbags wont deploy or if they do, it will be with thousands of dangerous broken plastic chards! i am seeking help in this matter so that the company can understand that their product has faults and is putting consumers in risk of serious harm and injury.

Dashboard near windshield is cracking and making noise. It's the panel near the windshield inside the vehicle and goes around the air bag. The material used to make the panel is weak and may explode if airbag goes off on passenger side.

My 2010 chevy tahoe has developed a crack in the upper dash area between the passenger side air bag and the defrost outlet. There was no outside influence that caused the crack and i'm very concerned that this is a safety issue in the event of an accident.
I purchased my 2010 in 2011 and the dash cracked in 2012. I have taken it to my local chevy dealer twice and chevy will still not accept responsibility for its poor quality and manufacturing. A vehicle that is only two years old and had never been involved in an accident should not have cosmetic damage. This is definitely a manufacturers problem and should be replaced by the company. My truck was worth 48,000 at the time and i should not be responsible for a repair caused by poor quality of their materials. Now my vehicle is 9 years old and the air bags deployed out of nowhere when my son was driving.... There was no wreck or impact with anything and they deployed. The quality used by chevy is terrible and i do not plan on purchasing anything else from a company that sells over priced vehicles with cheap and faultyparts that they don't want to assume responsibility for.
In 2016 we were notified about a recall on our 2010 chevy tahoe.the recall was for thetakata air bags.we would receive more details on how to fix this and have received nothing to date.i have gone to the dealership a couple times and there is still no fix.they don't even know when that will happen. In meantime, i am taking chances driving our vehicle should a crash happens and airbags deploy.
Takata recall. The gm dealers never have the part to remedy this problem.they blame gm and takata for not supplying parts.when will this be taken care of?
Takata recall has been an ongoing, unresolvable issue since it began. The dealer has no insight as to when, if ever, it will be fixed. They say to keep watching the nhtsa/gm boards for updates.other issue is the dashboard & its cracking. I had filed with the nhtsa in 2017 with the original crack that happened by the passenger airbag (your tracking number assigned by nhtsa for this issue is 10939141), but am adding this site now. Additionally, the dash has cracked behind the driver's "pod", connections have let loose for the middle portion of the dash allowing it to flap over bumps & the latest is the new metallic rattle that has begun somewhere behind the instrument cluster/dash area.i haven't had any cracking off of shards, but as the truck was regularly garaged, parked in a parking garage at work, & now in a carport, it's frustrating to have things occur without the blazing sun to contribute. Unlike others, i haven't had major cuts or flying pieces, just small cuts to fingers when i forgetfully am wiping down the dash.i've spoken with the dealership multiple times as things have progressed on the dash & initially they said it was unfortunate & to watch the original one (passenger airbag area), but as there are now more issues with the dash, they say to take it up with gm directly.i haven't started that process yet, but as the airbags & the dash are a never-ending issue, i will make an attempt to start.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked above the air bag area. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Hi the dashboard has 2 cracks in it. One on driver side and one on passenger where the airbag would deploy from. I feel it is a major safety issue wit my children in the car if an accident was to occurs the plastic dash being cracked could cut or kill one of my children.thanks
Cracked dash could affect the safety of the airbags
In 2013 i noticed small cracks on the dash around the top corners of the passenger airbag. Since then, i will hear random "popping" sounds as new cracks develop on the dash above the instrument panel. There's about 3 inches left before the entire thing cracks open. There's a semi-circle piece now missing from the dash because the crack opened up entirely and the piece is now rattling somewhere in the dash... After a particularly loud crack, i noticed the passenger airbag light will intermittently come on. This is the light that says whether it's "on or off." most of the time it will not come on, even with a person clearly sitting in the passenger seat. I'm afraid the airbag will either fail to deploy or randomly deploy...
Dashboard above speedometer hump cracked. 6 months later a crack on passenger and driver side by airbags cracked. The cracks are continually getting longer. A total of 3 cracks.
Takata recall...called today, aug 21,2018 to weseloh chevrolet service dept. Carlsbad ca on airbag recall.they do not have parts and no indication when they will have the airbag available.we live in a humid area with a child and concerned of this dangerous airbag being deployed.crack on dash!
I have a cracked dash near the passenger air bag, i've contactedseveral entities about this issue and was told it couldn't be repaired due to proximity to the air bag, i then searched online and discovered that there is a class action lawsuit against gm due to faulty interior dash, if this is a safety issue, utmost definitely needs to be corrected.
My dash board is cracked in multiple places.i am concerned that this could affect my safety, as well as the safety of my passengers, should the airbag deploy.there is no reason that the dash board should have cracked.
Takata recall - we took our tahoe to the dealership because the airbag light was on.dealer told us the airbag would need to be replaced at a cost of $1000.we searched the internet to see if the airbag was under recall.we contacted gm on 12/26/17 and were told by quel that the airbag would be replaced for free. We were contacted by andrea on 1/02/18 and were told it was not under recall and that the repair would not be free.upon further conversation andrea told me that gm did not have a remedy for the airbag and therefore would not replace it.my airbag seems to fit all the descriptions we read for the recall (year model, front passenger, etc.)i can not understand why they are unwilling to fix the problem.
Takata recall - my srs light came on in my truck stating that maintenance needed to be preformed. Shortly afterwards, my dash cracked in front of the airbag compartment. I feel this is a safety hazard to anyone sitting in the passenger seat.
This the 2nd time mine dashboard has cracked on paassenger side of mine 2010 tahoe. The 1st time serra chevrolet fixed at no cost to me. This time that said that it would be over a $1,000 dollars. I do not think i should have to pay this, i park in mine garage. I would like to be able to go get it corrected at no cost to me. I just saw that it had happen, there were no accidents.
The dashboard of my 2010 chevrolet tahoe is cracked from above the steering wheel in 3 areas th the corner of the passenger airbag.
Dash board is cracked above instrument panel and at passenger air bag. I fear that if air bags were to deploy fragments of dash will be sent through cabin causing injuries to passenger and driver. Cracks are so bad that center of dash where speaker is located just flops while driving. Tahoe has been garage kept since bought from dealer in 2011 and i am original owner.
Takata recalli was notified in july 2016 that my vehicle was involved in this recall.i have called chevrolet several times over the last year and 5 months and they do not have the parts to repair it.i received a notice from tk holdings inc, that notifies me that they have filed chapter 11 bankruptcy.who is responsible for repairing my airbag?the vehicle is obviously not safe to drive if you are in an accident.i am unable to sale my vehicle until the airbag is repaired.
Dash has cracked in two places.one connecting to the air bag and one over the steering wheel.i noticed it about 6-8 months ago (october 2015) and attempted to glue it...it is just getting worse and the crack over the steering will is growing.
Dashboard cracked. Concerned that in case of collision, sharp edges will be broadcast into passenger's compartment.
I have a crack in the corner of my airbag. After research i have noticed that there are many people complaining about cracks in their dashboards either on the corner of the airbag or steering column. There has also been a facebook page started about this problem. It is gm yukon and tahoe cracked dashboards. Looking at all the pictures posted there is a bit shocking. You can not tell one picture from another because they all are cracked in the same spot. After contacting gm i was told they have many complaints daily but gm will not issue a recall in the dashboards. My concern along with many others, is if this could some how affect the performance of the airbag. I currently do not allow anyone to ride in my front seat out if fear of the airbag.

An unknown dealer in las vegas, nevada was made aware of the recall and stated that the part was unavailable. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
My dash board is cracked around the passenger airbag. I am concerned about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants.
Tahoe dash is cracking in two spots.the first is on the corner of the passenger airbag.a very dangerous spot for a jagged edge to be next to an airbag.the 2nd is a much larger crack in the dash that appeared a year later over the instrument hump.i see many cases of tahoe's and suburban's online with the same problem.when i see another tahoe in a parker lot, i always check, and 9 out of 10 times they have the same cracks in the same spots.when i called gm they asked me to take it to a dealership to be looked out.the dealership quoted me $500 to fix.it's time for chevrolet to acknowledge that they messed up and take responsibility.
My vehicle has developed two cracks in the dash one by the instrument panel and one at the left upper corner of the passenger airbag. This is a safety hazard as it may affect the deployment of the airbag. This vehicle has been garage kept since i bought it in 2012 and it has 83,000 miles on it. Gm is refusing to take responsibility and replace this manufacturer defect

I purchased this vehicle used in the fall of 2019 at a used car dealers lot in oregon.in the summer of 2019 we started experiencing random no start problems.the first incidence we thought it was a faulty starter even though we could jump/short it across the terminal, and start the vehicle. After replacing the vehicles starter with a remanufactured non gm starter, we started having more no start problems. Remedy was arcing the starter posts across one another, and then vehicle would crank and start.we had the vehicle inspected by a gm dealer, our local mechanic, and they stated it had to be "dead" in order to diagnose the problem. Then a week later we had the car go into "anti-theft mode" while driving, and the speed and transmission slowed the vehicle nearly to a stop ,- all the lights started blinking, dic warning lights started flashing check stability, check blind side, check 4 wheel dr., ect...fortunately i was not far from home and parked the car in the driveway and shut it off.immediately i tried to re-start the vehicle and we had a "no-crank" issue again.i checked and replaced all fuses relating to the stater even though not blown.we then had it towed to our local mechanic who is ase certified and he completely dismantled the under hood electronic fuse block, and the communication fuse block under the drivers side dash and to no avail- found no wiring or fuse problems.he diagnosed over 400 connections, and could not find anything contributing to the problems.he stated as soon as he unbolted the under hood fuse block the car started, but he continued the diagnostics as stated above.there is a third fuse block under the dash that sits beside the communication block, and has fuses that were checked as well.during july, august, october 2019, we had numerous no start/crank instances. Remedy is a large screwdriver and arcing the starter.
1. I came out to go to work and the dash board had cracked and it is progressively getting worse. The crack is above the speedometer and on the passenger side near the air bag.2. Water is leaking in the passenger head boardcausing water to leak in the seat belt and wet it.
Engine light, alb, and service traction control light came on the dash, message loosing engine power as well, driving conditions were very dangerous, truck kept jerky as i was driving it, could only go up to max of 15 mph, the truck is not safe to drive.
The car has stalled on the freeway and/or busy roads multiple times. It was very dangerous timing.
Tahoe dash is cracking on the corner of the passenger airbag. A very dangerous spot for a jagged edge to be next to an airbag.
While driving in town or highway , door locks began popping up and down, dash gauges were going crazy and car began to be lose total electrical power. Engine cut out and died and almost rear ended by semi-truck. This issue has happened 20 plus times over the past 6 months and several times times this week driving in town and also on interstate 44 in missouri. The gm service technician does not know what the problem is or the cause.this issue is happening country wide to owners of chevy tahoe's.this vehicle is now to dangerous to drive.my tahoe has 71,212 miles on it.can you please look into this issue?
We purchased a new 2010 chevy tahoe with a trailer package.when we plugged the trailer plug in, we found that the no electricity was transmitted to the trailer lights and brakes.when we brought to vehicle to a chevy dealer, they informed us that the wires were not connected at the fuse box.we believe this is safety problem and a manufacturing defect.even worse the dealer claimed that this safety defect was not covered by the warranty because we did not ask for the wires to be connected to the fuse box when we bought the car.we were shocked at this convoluted argument.the manual indicated that we just and to plug the trailer wires into the tahoe plug.we are concerned that this manufacturing defect could lead to safety problem if someone just plugged their trailer wires in and later found themselves without trailer lights or brakes.
This vehicle, while driving, suddenly the radio goes off,the warning lights come up, the alarm goes off,and the locks start cycling, sometimes the engine goes off, sometimes the engine just jerks.when the engine cuts off,all the electrical system goes dead,i have to wait from 1 to 15 minutes for the system come back on. This vehicle has been on service five times for the same problem: the first time, they didn't find any problems.the second time, they said that the security alarm was the problem,it was removed. The third time they said that the mechanic forgot to connect some wires from the alarm, and also put some grease on the connectors.the fourth time the diagnostic was: faulty ignition switch and leaking battery.the fifth time the diagnostic was: coins inside the radio making a short, they removed the radio. Now, i'm driving without radio and it keeps doing the same.today,(like many other times) i almost have an accident, the warning lights came up, the needles on the gauges went crazy, the engine jolted and the car came to a total stop.a car almost rear ends us, i was honked at by everyone, and i tried to turn on my emergency lights to warn others but they didn't respond, there was no power. Here we were completely stunned in the middle of the presenting a clear danger to the drivers around and the car wouldn't respond.a few minutes later, which felt a lot longer, the car came back to life and we were able to drive off.every time it is a different story and the diagnostic always seems to change.the mechanics can't pinpoint the error so they are simply guessing. I ask gm to take full responsibility for the car.i am frightened to drive the vehicle. I'm risking my own life and the life of my family and others. Unfortunately,i need transportation and i have no choice to keep driving a defective vehicle.
Dashboard is cracked clearly defective leaving wires exposed to temp differences that can cause exposure to moisture on electrical wires, circuits inside dash that worries me of electric fires gm wont replace dash at 100% cost and their are clearly issues regarding their dashboards all over the us but gm will not address this..
We have a 2010 tahoe. 3 years ago we replaced the battery.after that the vehicle has been having the following issues. 1. Every 3-4 months the car dies while driving. Door locks, lights, radio, etc turn on and off rapidly while driving. Loss of power, steering wheel and brakes becomes stiffi. It has done it at least 3 times while driving 70 miles per hour on the interstate. I am shocked that we didn't crashed.other times we have been driving 15-40 mph. 2. Battery dies when car is parked. 3. Key remote sometimes work and sometimes it doesn't. We brought the car to the location where the new battery was installed and they installed a new one. Issues continue so we started to do research. We found out that some chevrolet vehicles have issuesof compatibility with the negative cable of after-market batteries so we brought it to the dealership in eldersburg md. They said they couldn't find the problem and could not recreate the issue even though we told them what we had found in our research. We paid several hundred dollars for labor and whatever they said they did.... We are still having the issues. Today it did it again. My husband said to pull over, turn the car off and wiggle the negative cable. I go to work just to find the car dead after 2 hours later. We read somewhere that there was an accident documented due to this issue.if you know if anyone at chevrolet that cares or know of someone that can actually fix this problem i would appreciate the info. Thank you!
Xm radio, antenna, the wire from the roof mount to the radio box, behind the glove box, got rusted and shorted out the radio. I took it to driver's village, in cicero new york, 13039, they said it would cost me $600.00 to put in a new antenna, so i went out to best buy and got them to install a new radio..
Tahoe slams back into 2nd gear, gauges drop to zero and can only go about 5mph. The traction control and abs light comes on and the radio turns on and off by its self also the lock will go up and down. This happens out of the blue 3 times going highway speeds. The speedometer will go up and down as well. If i slow down to pull over and try to pick up speed to get over th gas petal seems to not respond.i've been fighting this issue since may of 2018 and it has been in the shop off and on many many times and is currently in the shop for the same thing.. I've already replaced battery cables, tried a battery, new fuse box, new bcm also found service bulletins that states the exact problem to the t and nothing works! you can go online and find hundreds of people that had the sales issue. But nothing seems to fix it. I have versions of it messing up because other people thought i was crazy that it had this issue and then i show them and they are like wow that is crazy!
After heavy rain i noticed that both of my back doors sounded like there was a gallon of water inside of them. I read that this is a very common issue! i can only imagine the amount of rusting happening inside of there as well as electrical damage & risks of having wet speakers & wiring inside the door. Unacceptable. This should be a recall.

Driving down highway traction control light, check engine light, stabilitrax off, service stabilitrax, engine power reduced lights came on. Engine also idled erratically and would try to jump the car forward when slowing down to a stop. Could turn off car for a few mins and it would reset and turn back on and drive normal for a few miles with check engine light on, then do it again. Used heet because thought it was bad fuel but continued doing it.
The car has stalled on the freeway and/or busy roads multiple times. It was very dangerous timing.
The dashboard has two long cracks, one above the instrument panel and one by the passenger side airbag. Called gm and they would not replace it. This happened when the truck wasn't even a full two years old. The truck in kept in a garage and i use sun visors during the day to protect the dash from the sun. The cracks continue to grow. This is a defect from gm and they should pay for replacement. I am worried if i get into an accident, pieces of the dash will fly into peoples faces in the truck or cause a deploying airbag to malfunction.the stability control light came on in 2012 and the dealer again would not fix it.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed and the engine reduce power warning indicator illuminated. The independent mechanic cleaned the throttle, but the failure recurred. The mechanic was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

2010 chevrolet tahoe. Consumer writes in regards to loss of engine power while driving. *ldthe consumer stated the manufacturer refused to reimburse the cost of repairs. The consumer believed the vehicle should have been repaired under warranty.
P0300 engine misfire - service stabilitrak/traction control.multiple cylinder misfire from active fuel management system.

This has happened numerous times in the past year and a half. When accelerating after a stop or slowing down, there is a "pause" in acceleration. I hit the gas and the vehicle slows down significantly before it jerks forward at an accelerated speed. For example, when i'm making a left turn and hit the gas it will slow down and then shoot forward really quickly. Sometimes the forward jerk is so powerful it will make the tires squall as if i'm purposefully trying to "burn out." this happens when i stop at light or stop sign, when i'm reversing out of a drive way, as i make left turns and there's a speeding vehicle coming at me and the tahoe decides to decelerate in the middle of the road...driving conditions don't matter, whether on a highway or city street, doesn't matter. It happens all. The. Time. I'm afraid it will just stall while i'm making a turn and i'll be t-boned by an 18 wheeler! i'm afraid to go anywhere with my kids in the vehicle!

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the chrome plated door handles on all four doors was pealing. As a result, the contact cut his fingers when opening the doors. The dealer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was 44,000 and the current mileage was 55,000.
Lifters collapsed, motor blew on the highway at 60mphcausing large accident on shoulder
Support bracket weld to transmission dipstick tube broke. Dipstick tube loose and only held in place at transmission. Caught at a gm lube location in charleston, wv during routine lube and oil change. They stated they have seen at least 6 of these breaks in late model gm suvs. In worst case tube could pop out of transmission and leaking transmission oil could hit exhaust and cause a fire. My fix is a small hose clamp around the bracket and tube to hold it in place.

Dash is completely cracked above the airbag which could be a safety hazard of flying debris if the airbag should deploy. Also the middle bench seat 60 side randomly closes which is a huge hazard as my children ride back there
Dash. Cracked on drivers side and also passenger side.then a larger cracked appeared going higher up over the control panel.the year after we purchased this vehicle new, we kept hearing a rattle.as time went on the noise increased and the hairline crack became larger.we have had to insert a foam piece to control the rattleling.our so. Has a 2010 chevy tahoe and has the same issue
The front dash has cracked pretty significantly in 2 places. This occurred from the sun with no other factors coming into play. The driver seat fabric does not stay attached underneath the driver seat.appears it is missing a clip or a poor design that does not secure lower fabric secure to the seat. The steering wheel has a clicking noise when i turn the wheel over. Not sure if it's in the steering column itself or from another piece/fabrication malfunction.
Brake warning and stabilitrax warning cut off.learned from mechanic that the master cylinder was bad.our mechanic sees this regularly and believes someone needs to review the severity of the problem.i have 78,000 miles on this vehicle but my son-in-law's gmc p/u has 38,000 miles and having the same problem.as i understand the seal breaks and fluid is draining into the boot.is there any concern at this time with the brake system completely failing due to the problems with these master cylinders?once again, our mechanic sees these failures regularly and believes gmc needs to address the issue.

Not sure if it is a safety issue but i have had areas of cracking on the top of the dashboard. I have never seen a vehicle have this condition with only 45000 miles on it and the fact that it is garaged frequently. There is also peeling of some type of coating in the center ofthe steering wheel.
Cracked dashboard on passenger side at airbag.
Dashboard got 2 big cracks and i don't feel safe driving my tahoe. It has been garage kept at home and work. Very cheap made dashboard.
Dashboard has numerous cracks. There are several around the passenger side airbag and directly above instrument panel. If it continues, the instrument panel will be split in two.
The dashboard has cracked in 2 places.no pressure or force has caused this to happen. The first crack by the airbag happened in july of 2017 and the second on the steering section happened in mid 2019. It has been garage kept for 50% of ownership.
I have a crack in my dash board above the instrument panel on my 2010 chevy tahoe. I am concern if there is an airbag deployment the dash will cause serious personal injury to me as the driver or any passengers. This is a common occurrence with chevy dash boards and it needs to be rectified.
Hi the dashboard has 2 cracks in it. One on driver side and one on passenger where the airbag would deploy from. I feel it is a major safety issue wit my children in the car if an accident was to occurs the plastic dash being cracked could cut or kill one of my children.thanks
There is a crack on my dashboard right above the speedometer.
My oldest son bought a 2010 tahoe.i loved it and apparently made a mistake when i traded in my toyota for a 2010 tahoe.last year our youngest son and his wife also purchased a tahoe (2011).all three have dashboards that are now cracking.obviously a defect in the product.is gm going to do anything about this problem?from what i am reading it appears to be a nationwide issue with these vehicles.the crack in my dash is right above the airbag.
Dash is starting to crack on passenger side (left front area of airbag). This suv is a 2010 chevy tahoe ls.vehicle has around 71k miles. Wanted to check transmission level, but transmission dip stick and tube come together off from transmission. Checked under suv, found transmission tube popped out.the bracket that holds transmission tube is broken. I was able to pop transmission tube back in.also left rear and tight front inner chrome door handle are starting to peel off. Plan to take to chevy dealer, to see what they can do about this concerns.
As i was riding down the interstate i heard a load pop or cracking sound.i looked around the vehicle and couldn't find where it came from.when i got home i inspected it a bit further and found that the dash had cracked right above the instrument panel on the drivers side.i couldn't believe my eyes.a few weeks later the same sound occurred and i noticed a crack by the passenger side airbag.although it wasn't big i was concerned.just a few days after that....another pop.the crack on the passenger side had extended in length.i have tried to contact chevrolet regarding the issue but there is always a long hold time.the reason that this concerns me now is that in november i was t-boned at an intersection and pushed into a curb on the passenger side and much to my surprise the air bad did not deploy.now i wonder if it has malfunctioned and if the crack was the cause.considering the age, the number of complaints on various websites and the fact that we take very good care of our $30,000 investment you would think that chevy would step up and take responsibility for a faulty/defective product.
2010 tahoe. My dash is cracked. Have had it replaced once before and it done it again.
Multiple cracks on top of dashboard on both driver and passenger sides near airbag.
There is a crack on the top part of the dash and it just keeps cracking. I a, scared its going to affect the gauges and airbag, i use a windshield cover so i am not sure why this happened. I paid way to much for this to happen. But i have seen where multiple people have had the same problem .
My dash board is cracked around the passenger airbag. I am concerned about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants.
Dash cracking could cause damage to airbag and sharp shrapnel if airbag deploys.
My dash board is cracked in multiple places.i am concerned that this could affect my safety, as well as the safety of my passengers, should the airbag deploy.there is no reason that the dash board should have cracked.
Dash has cracked from middle to top above instrument cluster.dash is crack on 2 corners of in-dash air bag which could cause the dash to come apart and sharp pieces be thrown toward the passenger if the air bad deployed.this is the 2nd dash on the same vehicle to crackthe first time was in 2011 as was replaced under warranty.
Chrome plated interior door handle is peeling and cutting fingers.
Dash is cracked... Center dash bounces and rattles due to the weight of center speaker.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard cracked. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (mckelvey chevrolet, 17488 us-280 dadeville, al 36853) who stated that there was no recall for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contacted mentioned that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the failure was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 74,488.updated 11/07/17*lj
The dash in my tahoe recently cracked, & upon looking on the web, appears to be in the same place as many others' issue.i'm not sure when the crack happened (driving, parked, etc.), but it became visible to my attention the other day after some cold evenings (cold for san francisco bay area).i use a sunshade when possible. It is a regular driver.image below is not my vehicle but almost an exact placement version for reference.
I bought a 2010 chevrolet tahoe in december 2012less than 2 years after i bought this vehicle the dashboard started cracking in two place-driver side and passenger side.this is a safety issue due to the location of the air bags.there are a lot of complaints about this issue from tahoe owners.this is a safety issue for everyone riding in the vehicle.this needs to be a recall.
The dashboard of my 2010 tahoe cracked around 55k miles in 2015 while driving. It seems like this defect is due to the amount of vibration/usage of vehicle, since most notice damage after 50k miles regardless of how long they've owned it or its exposure to the sun.
The dashboard has cracked in two places. Next to the airbag and above the steering wheel. I am concerned that this creates a safety hazard in the event of a collision where the dashboard will separate and create flying projectiles. I am also concerned that if the airbag deploys, the dashboard will break apart and create flying projectiles. I noticed the cracks on 4/16/2017.
Dashboard is cracking on passenger side and driver side.could puncture airbag in event of a crash.
The dashboard cracked starting with the left corner of the passenger side airbag and continues across the dash all the way to the drivers side steering column. A small piece near the passenger side airbag fell into the dash and we are concerned that it could become a projectile if the airbag were to deploy. The crack appeared suddenly and has worsened over time. Parking/storing conditions of the vehicle have varied over time and no specific incident that we are aware of caused the crack.
The dash boardcracked after beu6ng parked outside for no more than 4 hours.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that there was a crack in the dashboard and was concerned about an inadvertent air bag deployment. The vehicle was taken to herndon chevrolet (5617 sunset blvd, lexington, sc 29072) where the contact was informed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the crack extended over time. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.consumer stated dashboard is cracking into smaller pieces surrounding the airbag.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. While driving the vehicle, there was an abnormal rattling noise. The contact noticed that the center of the dashboard was cracked above the instrument panel and near the passenger and front air bags. The contact was concerned that the air bag could deploy. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000. The vin was not available.
Dashboard near windshield is cracking and making noise. It's the panel near the windshield inside the vehicle and goes around the air bag. The material used to make the panel is weak and may explode if airbag goes off on passenger side.
Dashboard has major cracks and it feels like one day, some piece will break off and hurt someone while driving and it cause major crash.it started with a small crack and it is though end to end now.
1. I came out to go to work and the dash board had cracked and it is progressively getting worse. The crack is above the speedometer and on the passenger side near the air bag.2. Water is leaking in the passenger head boardcausing water to leak in the seat belt and wet it.
Dash has multiple cracks
The dashboard is cracking in multiple places. The cracks are getting worse with time. This could cause fragments of sharp plastic to be launched into the vehicle in the event of an accident. Airbag deployment may also be compromised.
Cracked dash- i found the dash of my 2010 tahoe cracked by the passenger air bag and above the instrument cluster.upon doing research i found that numerous other chevy owners are experiencing the same issue and gm continues to deny that it is an issue with their vehicles and do a recall even though they all crack in the same areas.
Takata recall i just notice a crack on the left top side of my dashboard a day after i brought my vehicle to get service at bical chevrolet dealer. I return to get answers and the dealer told me it's a known issue for these type of vehicle and they will not pay for the repair.i call chevrolet gm (case # 8-2129107909) and they told me this was the first time hearing about this issue and will no pay for the repair. Personally i think this is wrong and there should be a recall or some type of repair for vehicles that are currently crack in the same places on the dashboard especially long side passenger airbag. I would like something be done about my dashboard where i don't have to pay for it.
Major cracks (3) on dashboard.....one is over 8 inchespoor quality!!! i was thinking buying a pick up silverado truck but not with these issues.
Garage kept tahoe has cracked dashboard above instrument panel and passenger side airbag.if car was in an accident, shards of sharp plastic could injure passengers.this is a common issue in gm vehicles.gm should have a recall to replace the dashboard.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked at the top driver side next to the air bag. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that there was a petition for a recall. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
Dash cracking above gauge cluster and around passenger side airbag. Concerned that if pieces would come loose in an accident it could impede on the protection from the airbag.
My 2010 chevy tahoe has developed a crack in the upper dash area between the passenger side air bag and the defrost outlet. There was no outside influence that caused the crack and i'm very concerned that this is a safety issue in the event of an accident.
Tahoe dash is cracking on the corner of the passenger airbag. A very dangerous spot for a jagged edge to be next to an airbag.
Dash board cracked for 3rd time on drivers side. Gm will not cover now as its out of warranty.drivers side motor mount broken. Known issue
The dash board has cracked at the airbag cover over on the passenger side, also on the driver side dash it has cracked and beginning to create a hole. I'm just now finding that there has been other complaints on this and other chevy models.
The dash board in the vehicle has 2 cracks in it.could be a safety hazard involving the airbags. One crack is located at the curve of the instrument panel on the gear selector side and the other is located on the passenger side. I recently purchased the vehicle and the cracks were already there. I know that this is a popular problem and i believe that gm has profited greatly from the sales of these vehicles and should take responsibility for the integrityof their product.
At 60,000 miles vehicle developed a cracked dash near passenger side airbag. Approximately 4,000 miles later a second crack has appeared forward of the gauge cluster and is growing. This is a safety concern if pieces of sharp plastic fly loose and cause injury.
I have two cracks on the dash of my 2010 chevrolet tahoe 4d 4x4 ltz one is half way up my instrument panel side the other goes to the corner of my airbag opening.
Dash has cracks in two locations. Most concerning where passenger airbag meets dash. Cracks found when car was not stationary and is garaged nightly.
My dash is cracked!this is a defect and should be a recall. I want to get this fixed before it totally falls apart. The vehicle was parked when i noticed it.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard cracked around the steering wheel on the front passenger side. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 134,000.
The dashboard has 2 cracks in it that randomly showed up, 1 in at the top left corner on the pasenger side by the air bag and the otherthe top left side of the drivers side above the instument panel and its getting larger by the day.
Dashboard around airbag cracking into pieces exposing internal components.no accidents, well maintained vehicle. On line search shows " common problem".left and right dash cracks thru and thru plastic.
The passenger door handle broke from the screw housing and not the handle itself. Chevy's response: pull too hard on door handle, $ 200 repair cost to replace handle. The dashboard in front of the steering wheel started cracking and running towards the steering wheel. Chevy's response: some time the heat will do that. $ 950 repair cost for new dashboard.my tahoe is in top shape, washed twice a week inside and out and is garaged? i don't know why the simple things are so cheap?
Dash above gauges started cracking and keeps growing as well as a 2-3in crack by passenger air bag
Dashboard is cracked in multiple places and gm refuses to replace it.one major crack if from the airbag cover forward.i am in fear of the airbag deploying and pieces of plastic dash flying all over the place.i am one of thousands who have these cracks but gm is refusing to replace them.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the passenger side dashboard by the air bag was fractured. The contact also noticed a fracture on the driver's side dashboard of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be inspected, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. While the vehicle was stationary, the dashboard began to fracture near the seam of the passenger air bag. The contact noticed a severe fracture along the instrument panel. Premier chevrolet of buena park in buena park, california was made aware of the failure and took pictures of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided the contact with case number: 8-3301312480. The failure mileage was 48,000.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the dashboard had an extensive crack that traveled from the driver to the passenger side of the vehicle. The contact was uncertain if the failure would affect the structural integrity of the other components near the front of the vehicle. Keyes chevrolet (5949 van nuys blvd, sherman oaks, ca 91401, (818) 254-8277) was aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin and failure mileage were not available.
The dashboard has developed cracks that will become flying shards of hard plastic if the airbag deploys.
Cracked dashboard. At the moment the dash has cracked over the instrument panel and at the passenger side airbag.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. While entering the vehicle, the contact noticed that the dashboard was cracked above the instrument panel as well as on the passenger side air bag. The contact was concerned that the air bag might deploy. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000. There are stress cracks in a faulty dashboard that has had no blunt force. These cracks are located at the instrument cluster and airbag compartment. The vehicle was parked overnight outdoors in the cool air, and the cracks appeared sometime after the defroster or possibly the heat of the day warmed the vehicle
Chrome on inside door handle has peeled and is cutting fingers when you open the door.
The passenger side front interior chrome door handle has begun peeling which results in a sharp edge on the door handle which results in minor cuts on human hands when a person pulls on the handle to open the door.this is the same issue experienced with 2007 chevy tahoe which resulted in nhtsa ea 10004.nhtsa ea 10004 resulted in chevrolet extending warranty on this issue for 100,000 miles or 10 years.i contacted chevrolet about this issue with 2010 tahoe and they are not willing to extend the warranty on this model without nhtsa enforcement. The driver side front handle had the same problem in 2012.gm fixed that handle for free because car was under 36,000 mile / 3 year warranty.online search reveals that other post- 2007 model tahoe owners are having same issue.since issue is with door handle, vehicle is stationary when door handle is used.
Dashboard cracked in two (2) places- am worried if air back goes off, shrapnel will fly through inside and injure or kill the passengers.
The dashboard is cracked and looks very unappealing.there is also a safety concern, if the air bags were ever to deploy i fear that the cracked plastic would disintegrate and cause serious injury.
Dash cracked by the passenger side air bag.the crack made a noticeable pop sound when the crack appeared while driving on a city street.
The dash is cracked all over and cracked at airbag.also, suspension had a popping noise and has been fixed and still making noise.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet tahoe. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers:16v381000 (air bags) and 16t016000 (tires); however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issues. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Dash cracked by the passenger side air bag.the crack made a noticeable pop sound when the crack appeared while driving on a city street.
The dash right by the instrument cluster on the drivers side cracked for no apparentreason other than defective materials used by gm after researching the problem . The vehicle has 31000 miles and is garage kept 95 % of the time. I spoke to my local dealer they have never heard of the problem so the cost would be on me to replace at $1000.00....gm should fix these after all the vehicle only cost 54,000 new .
My dash is cracked in 4 different places.one crack extends to the airbag and i am afraid if the airbag were to deploy pieces of the dash would break off and potentially hit someone. It is also very annoying because it rattles constantly.
Cracks appeared on dash, around the instrument panels, around the central speaker and also on the left side of the dash, around the airbags. Cracks keep expanding, lots of rattling and bouncing while on the road.
I have a 2010 chevy tahoe that has two cracks in the dashboard.one is directly in front of the driver's side and the other one is on the passenger's side near the airbag area.the defect is just visible and so far has not impacted the truck's performance when in motion.i saw where a number of other owners of gmc, chevrolet, and cadillac suv owners have this same issue.i am not sure if the airbags deployment may be affected.however, i would like for gmc to issue a notice and/or recall.
Dash board cracked in two places. One near passenger airbag and the other is above the instrument panel. No accident and cracks causing loose dash board. Noticed cracks when rattle sound while driving 2/17.
I noticed cracks on my chevy 2010 dashboard. I researched online and found out this was happening to other chevy vehicles
Dash has cracks on it.if the air bags deploy it could send shards flying.compromise the air bag integrity.
The plastic dash has several cracks in back of the instrument cluster hump that are long and wide.
Large cracks on driver and passengers sides of the front dash.vehicle always garage kept and taken care of.why is this not a recall?i have read numerous complaints regarding the same problem.
2010 tahoe lt - garage kept since bought in 2011 - dash has cracked at the top left of the passenger side air bag. This poses a significant risk if the passenger side airbag were to deploy. Looking for solutions to get this fixed. Vehicle was parked in the garage and was fine, the next morning the dash was cracked.
The dashboard on my 2010 chevrolet tahoe has two severe cracks...one above the instrument panel and the other beside the passenger side airbag. It would seem that this crack could interfere with the effectiveness of the airbag. This is a known issue with these vehicles.
I have two cracks that appeared on my dashboard for absolutely no reason. One is above the steering wheel and the other is on the passenger side at the edge of the airbag compartment. The one by the airbag is the shape of a triangle and a whole piece of the dash fell off. I believe it is very dangerous because if the airbag deployed it would very likely catch on the missing pieceof dash and rip. It seems that it couldalso cause the dash to crack further and pieces of the dash could go flying at a passenger if there were an accident.i took it to two different chevy dealers and neither of them would admit it was dangerous and wanted to change over 800 dollars to repair it.
My 2010 tahoe has the notorious crack in the dash at the pasinger side air bag. This is the second time this has happened on the same vehicle. I payed for it to be replace the first time and now it has happened again. I believe this to be a extreme safety hazard to me and my family. If we where to be involved in a accident i am afraid that pieces of the dash could fly off and become projectiles injuring a member of my family.
Cracks have formed in the dashboard for no reason. It started with one crack above the instrument cluster, which continues to worsen, and now one has formed by the passenger airbag, which has me concerned for safety should the airbag need to deploy.
One week after purchasing a 2010 chevy tahoe i saw what looked like a scratch on the dash behind the steering wheel. When i looked at it closer the dash scratch was actually a crack. When i touched it the dash cracked behind the steering wheel and on the passenger side where it was not touched.dealer told me to buy a dash cover. Not right answer after giving him$20,000.00 a week earlier. Told me it was from the sun. The material used was of very poor quality because of all the complaints.they could have offered to install a dash cover at there expense $100.00. Very bad dealer customer support. Will neverwalk in there again for anything. That is why i do not like car dealers. It could have been a good experience but they ruined it overa $100.00 part. And a known defect. This happened while car was parked in my drive way.
Chevrolet tahoe 2010 25780 miles on vehicle.owned since new. Cracking dashboard.dash cracked at corner of passenger airbag and above instrument panel.plastic at cracks is shape and a safety hazard. If air deploys, unsure if remainder of dash with come apart exposing occupants to flying or impacting sharp shards of plastic.
Cracked dashboard. This is a common issue gm fails to acknowledge. The danger is the plastic shattering if the airbag deploys and because of the material defect in the plastic, large sharp shards can be shot into the cabin area if airbag deploys (shrapnel).
The dashboard of my 2010 chevrolet tahoe is cracked from above the steering wheel in 3 areas th the corner of the passenger airbag.
My 2010 tahoe lt has a cracked dashboard in two places.i have concerns that in the event of an accident that the cracked components may break off and cause injury.apparently this is a common problem.
Dash cracked. The entire dash. Multiple cracks multiple areas.
The black plastic dashboard cracked in two places and now rattles and makes a rattling noise when the vehicle is moving.
The dash is cracked in several places. The cracks occurred over time due to the vibrations that occur while operating the vehicle.the cracks started as small cracks and grew into the cracks shown in the pictures below. I know this is an issue with many gm models that were built around 2010.a simple internet search will reveal many gm owners that also have cracked dashes.this is a safety issue.if my airbag goes off there is a high probability that the dash breaks apart and one of the dash pieces becomes a projectile, endangering the passengers in my vehicle, or slashes the airbag as it inflates (if it inflates because nhtsa has not yet required gm to issue a recall on my takata airbag).there are thousands of people with the same issue.it would cost me over $1,000 to replace the dash myself.gm should be required to replace the faulty product that they put in my car, which is now a danger to my any my passengers' safety.
Dash cover is cracked by the front passenger airbag
Drivers side dash is cracking two places and spreading higher towards the instrument cluster. Happened between 8/26/16 8/28/16. Happened while i was driving on a city street. Above the center speaker in the middle of the dash the plastic clips that hold the two piece dash together also broke to. I'm worried that it'll get worse and possibly come loose. Between the two cracks the plastic is fairly loose. I've read a lot of reviews about this issue. From 2007 to 2010 tahoe's are the worst.
I have a 2010 chevy tahoe and i noticed a crack on the top of the dash. I am concerned that in the event of an accident that the air bags would deploy that the dash would send shards of plastic.
The dash has cracked behind the instrument panel and near the passenger side air bag.this leads to dash movement while in motion, which is distracting.all the clips on the front dash assembly have broken off, presumably from dash movement, which leaves it unsecured during a collision.
Our dash cracked in two different spots; surrounding the airbags on the passenger side and in front of the instrument cluster. Our main concern is if the airbag deploys, there will plastic shrapnel that will fly out. It was not cracked due to negligence, it is a well kept vehicle that is not driven offroad. Apparently this is a common problem that chevy is having.
My 2010 chevy tahoe ltz has a crack right above my passenger side airbag. Given that i have seen thousands of people with the same issue, this should be considered a defect and a recall should be issued. It is a safety hazard because if my airbag deploys, there is a possibility that pieces of plastic could injure someone.
Dash has cracked in two places.one connecting to the air bag and one over the steering wheel.i noticed it about 6-8 months ago (october 2015) and attempted to glue it...it is just getting worse and the crack over the steering will is growing.
Dashboard got 2 big cracks and i don't feel safe driving my tahoe. It has been garage kept at home and work. Very cheap made dashboard.
The dashboard of my chevy tahoe has become cracked in multiple places. One of the cracks goes from the windshield to the front of the dashboard. The cracks seem like a safety hazard specifically in the event of a car accident. In a car accident the cracks may impede the operation of the airbags or allow portions of the dashboard to more easily become projectiles which could cause injury to myself or passengers in my vehicle.
Rear window glass is no longer stable in the tracks.windows could possibly fly out of vehicle. Fmvss 10
Sunroof exploded while driving.i was in an 45mph area, coming to a red light at @30 mph, just exploded.no ac or heat on, temp outside was 73 degrees
The dashboard has cracked in 2 places.no pressure or force has caused this to happen. The first crack by the airbag happened in july of 2017 and the second on the steering section happened in mid 2019. It has been garage kept for 50% of ownership.
Dashboard above speedometer hump cracked. 6 months later a crack on passenger and driver side by airbags cracked. The cracks are continually getting longer. A total of 3 cracks.
The dashboard has 2 cracks in it that randomly showed up, 1 in at the top left corner on the pasenger side by the air bag and the otherthe top left side of the drivers side above the instument panel and its getting larger by the day.
The dash is busted in two places, one by the passenger side and a large crack on the drivers side stretching all the way up.
I own a 2010 chevy tahoe, which is in pristine condition and taken care of regularly. There is a crack on my dashboard that is getting worse by the day. When taken to the chevrolet dealer where my vehicle was purchased they want $450 to repair! this is a severe safety concern that needs to be addressed immediately.
Vehicle dash is cracking in multiple places. Around air bags
Dashboard is cracked big time.
2010 tahoe. My dash is cracked. Have had it replaced once before and it done it again.
Dash is cracked with sharp plastic shards protruding around air bags and instrument cluster
Dashboard cracked by the odometer and the passenger side airbag. This occurred while the vehicle was sitting at a red light.
The dash has cracked
The dash board in my 2010 tahoe is crack into pieces. I am truly afraid that if i had a accident that pieces of the dash can really do more damage!
Dashboard cracked in several places.
I have a 20 inch crack in my dashboard directly over my steering wheel. It is separated about 2 cm and is dangerous due to air bag location and potential of air bag malfunction in a crash.
In december of 2013 i discovered two cracks in the dashboard of my vehicle.after much discussion with the dealer, the dash was replaced under warranty and i paid $100 plus $9.25 in tax for the replacement.in january 2017, the replacement dash has cracked as well.the crack is allowing the dash to bow and you can see the mechanics under the dash.
The dash board has 4 different spots that it is cracking and keep forming new cracks all the time why isn't there a recall on this could the sharp pieces from the dash puncture the air bag and not let it properly inflate to save a persons life or is this not a concern to chevrolet
The dash board is cracked in 3 places including around the passenger airbag which i believe is a safety issue.
The dashboard is cracked and spreading by the passenger side airbag.in the event of aaccident this may cause pieces of the dash to come off and cause serious physical injury.
Dashboard cracked on passenger side at upper left corner of airbag. Safety concern since plastic is cracked.cannot get answer on takata recall notice.
Dashboard cracks over cluster also on the right side by the air bag. I'm concerned about my safety as well as others.
Dashboard has abnormal cracking since 2012. I have been searching for replacement which i should not have to do
Cracked dash by the passenger airbag
There is a large crack on the passenger side of the dashboard. It is by the airbag. This causes the entire dash to vibrate and make noises. I am afraid that the airbag may be compromised.this just occurred one day. My tahoe is kept in the garage. I have never taken it off road or 4 wheel driving to cause this.
The dash has 2 large cracks, i have other vehicles much older with out any dash cracks.this has to be due to bad material.i believe this to be a safety concern due to air bag inflation and the possibility ofpropelling a chunk of plastic from the dash.
The dashboard is cracking. It started with cracking around the passenger side airbag. It is now cracking forward of the instrument panel.this is also occurring on my 2008 chev silverado, but much worse. This is a safety issue if involved in a crash and the airbag deploys. I contacted gm/chevrolet and they will replace the dash for $305. The question is, why are the dashes cracking at all !
The dashboard on my chev tahoe 2010 is cracked in two places.i heard the very loud pop sound when it cracked.
My 2010 chevrolet tahoe ltz has developed a crack in the dash.the crack is located on the driver's side, right side of the instrument cluster, where the dash panels meet in the middle.the vehicle has 64k miles on it, has not been cleaned with chemicals on the dash, has not been in any accidents, and is garage kept.the dealer has stated that this is not covered by a recall, by my extended warranty (still valid), or the extra protection package that i purchased.no other options were offered by the dealer.this presents a safety concern since the dash plastic is hard, is cracking with sharp edges, and could become a projectile in the event of a crash or airbag deployment.the crack was observed while the vehicle was parked.
Large crack development on dash at passenger side airbag and driver side on top of cluster this is a garage kept vehicle that has less than 100 miles a month since purchasing.
My dashboard has cracked more and more over the years. At this point pieces have actually broken off. This vehicle was too expensive to have cheaply made parts installed.
Cracked dashboard across multiple areas causing concern if airbag deploys.
The dash board is cracking and falling apart.the vehicle is parked inside the garage daily. Just like all other gm models of this body style. For what these vehicles cost, the dash shouldn't be falling apart. Very sad on gm's part.
Cracked dashboard from the corner of the airbag.this crack has caused a stress fracture crack on the other side of the dash.the weight of the speaker in the middle constantly makes the sash panel vibrate.
The dash at the corner of my passenger side airbag cracked and now the entire dash rattles.i am worried about how this affects the airbag now.the dash was vibrating so much and it just keeps getting worse.i have looked online and apparently, i am not even close to being the only one with this problem.please help!
My dash board surrounding the air bag has cracked.
Dash cracks in two places: over the passenger airbag and over the instrument panel
I purchased brand new chevrolet tahoe in 2010, the vehicle has less than 75,000 miles and has developed a crack in the dashboard. This vehicle has been taken care of since purchase, so very upset that the dashboard has cracked. It started cracking a year after having warranty work done ( dash had to be removed to replace onstar system).
My dashboard on my 2010 tahoe is cracked in multiple places.
Dashboard cracked, broken pieces fell inside, dashboard has a holein the middle.crack in dashboard is expanding.
The dashboard is cracked on the passenger side from the corner of the airbag cover to the air vent under the windshield. The crack was not visible when the vehicle was purchased used in may 2018 but has since appeared and grown as of july 2018 during regular city driving. We have concerns the crack may interfere with normal deployment of the airbag or cause pieces of the dash to become projected through the cabin upon airbag deployment.
'takata recall'it's been a consistent down fall of my dash around my air bag. Their is a gaping hole above my airbag now. The service gentleman at autonation stated if the shrapnel from the air bag does not get you, your dash board shrapnel will! last january i simply wiping my dash down sliced open my hand requiring stitches. I made a appointment for my airbag replacement they knew exactly why i was driving there to drop my vehicle off but once i arrivedi was told there is still no part available. The technicians are not allowed to disarm the arm bags. In motion the entire dash vibrates, the smallest bump caused pieces to fall off, going over railroad tracks a chunk broke off and hit me in my right eye. I fear for the safety of my children which my 4 year old also cut the side of her arm on my dash. The date below if around when i recieved the airbag recall.
2010 dashboard cracked in to places an i'm worried that one of the near the passenger air bag would not function in a case of an accident
Takata recall - my srs light came on in my truck stating that maintenance needed to be preformed. Shortly afterwards, my dash cracked in front of the airbag compartment. I feel this is a safety hazard to anyone sitting in the passenger seat.
I have major cracks throughout my dashboard to include near the passenger airbar and the dashboard above the steering wheel column.
There are 2 cracks on the dash, one on each side which could cause harm/death to the passengers because of flying plastic should an airbag deploy.i have contacted the dealer and gm with negative results.it was first noticed in april 2015 and the vehicle had less than 32,000 miles.
The plastic dash cover is cracked in several locations.a small crack located in front of the passenger side airbag compartment and numerous cracks on the drivers side domed area above the cluster of gauges.this does concern me because if a frontal accident were to occur, i fear the plastic dash will certainly cause serious damage to the driver and passenger.this happened while driving and i heard a loud pop.
Cracked dashboard
Dashboard cracking.possible compromising the air bag functionality.
I have two big cracks in my dashboard.these cracks are not from lack of maintenance or from sun-damage.this is from faulty product installed by gmc/chevrolet.i know of at least 3 other vehicles at my company that have the same issue and in the same spot.you can also pull story after story up online about this same issue and gm refuses to put a recall out for their faulty product. With the location of the cracks which are next to the airbags it is my fear that if there is an accident and the airbag deploys that it will cause shrapenal to fly abouth the vehicle. This is not only a flaw of gm but could cause serious damage to a passenger of the vehicle.
Cracked dashboard near the passenger air bag and above the speedometer
Big crack on the dashboard right above the steering wheel
The dash has cracks in it on the top near the airbags, next to the speaker, and above the drivers side and it makemaking noise. He material used to make the panel is weak and may explode if airbag goes off on passenger side.
The plastic dash has cracked around the airbag which might interfere with the airbags or become projectiles from the airbags deploying.
I was washing my car and cleaning the interior, then noticed my dash board had a crack in it. It has grown bigger since initial finding. This is a factory defect.
Dashboard cracked on its own. Long crack, found to be extremely common in chevrolet tahoes.
I am the 2nd owner of my 2010 chevy tahoe z71.i love the vehicle but recently, the crack that was once a small minute crack above the driver side dashboard has dramatically become larger.when i start my car, there is always a popping sound of the plastic as the dashboard cracks.there is also another crack near the passenger side airbag which concerns me.i recently went to my local dealer who i purchased the vehicle from and they told me to "contact gm and express your concern". That doesn't seem to solve a problem especially if internet search has shown an excessive amount of owners who are experiencing the same problem.this needs to be fixed by a recall by gm.
Dashboard started cracking and is now brocken around the airbags on both passenger and driver's side.
Dashboard is cracking on both sides where top vent meets corners. There was no incident to cause this, and the cracks have gotten progressively worse over the last few months. Makes horrific screeching noise when car is in motion. Makes me wonder if air bags would deploy correctly on passenger side.
Dashboard on a 2010 tahoe cracked in 2014 near the left front corner of the passenger side airbag.if air bag were to deploy the dashboard could become shrapnel injuring occupants.
Have a 2010 chevrolet tahoe with cracks in the dash above the instrument cluster and by the air bag on the passenger side.
Dashboard cracking.
The dash is cracked all over and cracked at airbag.also, suspension had a popping noise and has been fixed and still making noise.
Takata recall: i have not received any information regarding the recall of the passenger airbag recall for my 2010 chevy tahoe.
The cracking dash, in my opinion, on a 2010 chevy tahoe has been a long running issue that the manufacturer has not been held accountable for. Aside from the physical appearance and sagging, i feel that in the event of an airbag deployment there would be more chance for improper inflation or fragments from already broken dash becoming projectiles. The blind eye that has been turned to this issue from the powers at be is astonishing. I believe the consumer has been done an unjust service while the manufacturer is getting away with not having to correct a safety fault.
Out of nowhere a 1 1/2 inch wide pizza-shaped crack appeared on the dashboard over the main instrument console just off center towards the middle of the dash. We've lived in very hot climate(visalia,ca) with extremes from 110 degrees down to 32 degrees and less and have never had a dashboard crack occur, including our previously owned 2002 chevy tahoe. It's now covered with a dash carpet. Sure hope our safety isn't compromised. Our vehicle was stationary.
Multiple cracks on top of dashboard on both driver and passenger sides near airbag. If the airbags deploy due to a crash, there will be multiple pieces of the dashboard broken that could inhibit the deployment of the airbags or cause plastic pieces to impale a passenger. The dealership has declined to repair under a gm recall.
Dash board cracking
My 2010 with 80,000 miles has a cracked dash. A crack above the gage an one that i'm really concerned about attached to my airbag. In doing some research i have found that this cracking is a huge problem for gm owners from the year 07-13! my concern is if the airbag were to deploy that the plastic would be sent flying an hurt passengers. Gm has had many complaints about this an helps some people an not others! i feel this is a safety concern an should be recalled.
Dashboard has two cracks onelocated above steering and passenger side air bag.
Takata recall, the dashboard is cracking and shattering into small pieces and when you use the defrost the little pieces of debris start flying everywhere including the drivers face. And it's very annoying and distracting. Thanks for any help.
Dashboard just cracked in front of console/steering wheel. This is similar to a problem i had with a 2001 chevy tahoe i owned previously to this. That incident happened while car was still under warranty, this time it happened after warranty had ended.
Dashboard broke at passenger airbag and also on driver side above cluster panel
Dash panel began cracking above instrument panel and spread both ways to drivers side and all the way to the passenger side air bag. It is now cracking on the other side of the airbag. Huge safety issue if the airbag were to deploy! panel shards would either pop airbag or stab a passenger.
The dash board has cracked severely on my 2010 chevy tahoe. I purchased the vehicle in 2011 with no cracks. Two years later the cracking began.
The dash of my 2010 chevy tahoe has cracked at the drivers side and passenger side airbag. My concern is for the stability of the dash and of the air bag is deployed will the dash puncture the airbag causing it not to inflate. The cracks stayed small but with vibration have grown to a full hole in the dash above the steering column.
Cracks in the dashboard.started out small, now they are getting out of control.
Cracked dash could affect the safety of the airbags
Dash has cracked in three spots, one being where passenger air bags is held in. Local gm refused to correct after warranty expired. This is a known problem on many tahoes.
There is a crack in the front right side of the dashboard. I'm not sure when the split occurred as the vehicle hasn't been involved in any accidents or incidents.
My dash started cracking small at first, bumps and vibrations would increase the length and severity of the cracks, all the clips broke off, simply wiping the dash off would break chunks off. In 2017 while cleaning my tahoe i was wiping the dash and a shard caught the side of my hand requiring stitches. While driving the dash has no support and vibrates. Depending on the type of road the vibrations are strong enough to break chunks off the dash off that fall down into the console. My dash is busted from the drivers side all the way to the passenger side. My fear is that a front impact car wreck will turn my brittle dash into shrapnel causing injury to five kids, myself and my husband. It continuously just gets worse. I have saved all the pieces that i find. It's horrible to think that if a shard can cut my deep enough to require stitches what could they do in the even of a wreck?
The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that on march 19, 2010, the driver rolling up the rear passenger side window when a passenger's finger became stuck in the weather stripping. The passenger's right index finger was amputated about 1/8th of an inch on the tip. A hospital report was available. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000. The current mileage was approximately 53,700.
My 2010 chevy tahoe ltz has 35k miles with the same cracks on the dashboard as every other owner all over the web and on the facebook group specifically for this issue. This is a manufacturer defect 2 years after $60 billion of taxpayer/consumer money bailed them out. Gm refuses to fix this problem around the airbag and across the entire dashboard.
Same crack in dash as 1000's of other owners of tahoes.gm refuses to claim any responsibility and is asking $1200 for the replacement.this is a safety hazard as it is cracked at the air bag.
While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated. The stabilitrak and engine power reduced warning indicators illuminated. A local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 78,573. The vin was not available.
On tuesday, august 9, 2011, as i moved over to pass a car on the left on a 2-lane highway, the accelerator in my 2010 chevrolet tahoe began accelerating at a very fast rate on its own and "stuck" .i hit the brakes several times, but it did not "unstick" and kept accelerating.i am not certain to what exact speed the car reached during this time, but i believe it was in excess of 80 mph.shifting the car to neutral backed it off.after putting it back in drive and punching the accelerator 3-4 times with my foot, the car "unstuck" and speed reduced; not certain if my action "unstuck" it but at this point the speed reduced.needless to say, i was extremely scared and it was an extremely unsafe situation.van horn chevrolet in plymouth, wisconsin, confirmed a day later that diagnostics showed a fault code and the sensor was faulty, and the sensor was subsequently replaced.the repair invoice states "replaced accelerator pedal position sensor."
Engine light, alb, and service traction control light came on the dash, message loosing engine power as well, driving conditions were very dangerous, truck kept jerky as i was driving it, could only go up to max of 15 mph, the truck is not safe to drive.
2010 chevrolet tahoe ltz check engine light came on and would drive but in a jerking motion. We had vehicle towed to our mechanic who diagnosed the issue as a engine control module dtc p2135, the reduced engine power displayed and the traction off also displayed. The mechanic was able to clean out the throttle body to remove the check engine light. I then called my local chevrolet/gm service center in east hartford, ct and they said that the item is covered under a special coverage adjustment #11273 for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles but there is nothing they can do until the light comes back on. He informed me that it will happen again, though. I then called corporate gm and they also told me that there is nothing i can do except wait for the issue to arise. The manager told me that the engine speed would reduce to 50mph but it isn't a safety concern. If this car is traveling at 65-70mph on the highway and reduces speed to 50mph with no brake light how is this not a safety issue??? needless to say, they said there was absolutely nothing they could do so now i have to have my wife and 2 kids drive around in a vehicle that we know has an issue but cannot not get it fixed properly until it occurs again. This is a common issue with these vehicles and it needs to be addressed as a safety recall before someone gets seriously injured. Case #[xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
