The contact owned a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that while attempting to make a left turn at 10 mph, an oncoming vehicle crashed into the passenger side of the contacts vehicle. As a result, the vehicle flipped several times and the air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained minor injuries to the back and head that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was deemed totaled. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 199,000.
The "service stability" warning message displayed, abs warning light, tc tire deflation, and brake failure light. The first failure occurred on or about february 13, 2012. I took the vehicle to the chevrolet dealership immediately and the repair was completed by march 27, 2012 after 3 attempts. The computer tester was alleged to show that the ebcm had failed and was replaced. This did not clear the defect and the same warnings continued when ever the car was washed or became wet from rain. The defect was said to be in the wire that powered the ebcm in the proximity of the firewall. The wire was stated to be frayed. When the wire was replaced the problem was corrected. I am concerned that the wire may have been damaged from abrasion near the firewall combined with corrosion from road salt. This could have lead to failure of the abs, airbags, and stability control at a time when it is most needed.
The service air bag light came on, ay this time i don't know weather or not my air bags are working i also have side air bags. So i don't know which ones not working and wasn't aware that air bag need servicing at no time. I need help on this i never owned a car that you have to service air bags without the bags being deployed.
Chevrolet is well aware of the horns not working from 97 to 2006 horns not working. The horn failure happens with no notice. This can lead to death by not giving warning to others. It's a bad design flaw they've gm is well aware of. The contact switch corrods and will not make contact. Gm wants $800 to fix the problem. Do a quick search and you will see 1000's of complaints on the issue. I'm sure it has lead to numerous deaths that the cause was unknown. We almost dead today when someone pulled out in front of us with no horn.
On february 7th the driver side airbag spontaneously deployed as my family and i were driving home from the store. We contacted gm to find out if there were any recalls on our vehicle. We were instructed there were not and we should contact gm customer service. On february 11th they had us take our vehicle to a gm dealership where they conducted and investigation to determine why. Gm returned our vehicle to us on march 3rd stating the airbag deployment was caused by shorted wires in the wiring harness. Since our vehicle was returned to us we have had several more issues that were not present prior to the airbag deployment. The driver seat is stuck in one position, the rear windows will not work, the rear locks will not work, the fuel system is leaking gas, and the battery is dead, even having to be jump started when it was returned to us. General motors refuses to do anything to correct the problems, stating these problems are not a manufacturer defect. However, when the airbag blew, while we were driving down the road, there was significant smoke inside the dash, we believe the airbag burnt/shorted the wires after it deployed. Gm claim number [xxx].information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
While driving for about 3 minutes on street the tahoe started to smell like smoke, we then noticed smoke coming out of the air conditioning vents in a matter of seconds there where flames coming out from underneath the glove compartment. The car caught on fire and the air bag deployed. The dash board was completely melted from the fire, the front windshilled shattered with force towards the back of the truck.
I took my 2005 chevy tahoe in fora service lite. I was informed thatthe under dash connectors for the airbag system needed to be replaced or the airbags would not work in an accident, at a cost of just over $500.00.i asked what the exact problem was and was told that the connector was loose and not making connect. I then did some basic research on the web looking for recalls and such and found several reportsof collisions involving 05 tahoes where the airbags did not deploy at speedsexceeding 35mph. I was also informed that gmalready had an upgraded connector set to replace the bad ones as the problem has been seenmore than once.it appears to me that gm knows that a manufacturing defect is at fault, they have identified the problem and made an upgraded replacement part and have no problem charging consumers $500.00 to replacethe parts. In the meantime people are driving thevehicles and i guess, hoping the airbag will deploy in the event of an accident, which is not the case in several crashes.i have no way to check what vehicles / model years those connectors were used on but, it seems like there is a problem here that should be looked at before moreaccidents become fatal. My wife was saved by her airbag being deployed in a previous accident, i am glad we did not find out the hard way this one would not have been there for her.
I have a 2005 chevy tahoe, which recently i have been having many problems,i was wondering if there any recall notices for this vehicle...service air bag light is on...abs light is on...seat belts on middle section does not work correctly,it gets stuck many times...steering sometimes gets stiff.
My chevrolet tahoe 2005 has several airbag codes relating to the driver and passenger seats. The air bag light is also on
The brakes and steering locked up throwing me into a telephone pole and almost going out of the windshield slam sideways against the tree and not one of the airbags deployed my son was driving at the time if it were me i'd been dead because i have a brain tumor and cannot hit my head he has several injuries and lots of medical bills because he did not have insurance at the time of injury
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle crashed into a deer but the air bags did not deploy. There was extensive damage to the vehicle. A police report was filed. The dealer stated that the vehicle could be inspected at the contact's expense. The body damage had been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. The current mileage was approximately 100,000.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. Upon starting the vehicle, there was a beeping sound and the service air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 122,807.
Air bags failed to deploy in a crash. The frame of our 2005 chevrolet tahoe was buckled in the crash.crash test data was retrieved from the vehicle, although general motors does not feel that they are in a position to honor our request for damages against them. My husbandandiboth received back and neck injuries during the accident.
Dt: on july 16, 2005while traveling at 55 mph consumer's vehiclewas involved ina head on collision with another vehicle.totaled the other vehicle.upon impact, the air bags did not deploy. Vehicle has notbeen inspected to see why theair bagsdid not deploy.air bag light came on.consumer called the dealership, and they advised consumer not drive the vehicle to the dealershipbecause the airbags might deploy.the vehicle was taken to the body shop yesterday to be fixed.the consumersprainedback and neck.a police report wasissued.
Dt the contact stated that air bag light cameon intermittently. The vehicle has been to the dealer on three differentoccasions.the first time they said it was the sensor, and they replacedit.the second time they said it was the computer, and they replaced the computer. The third time they replaced a spring. The dealer saidthat the air bag may or may not deploy if involved in a car accident. The vehicle was takenthe dealer for the fourth time. The air bag light affected the tire pressure light as well. They both comeon and off intermittently.
The speedometer on our 2005 chevrolet tahoe lt does not function properly.sometimes we are going slower than it shows and other times we are going faster.for example, we may be driving 65 mph but it will show 120 mph.or we may be driving 45 mph but it shows 70 mph.and sometimes it works.you just never know for sure.this is dangerous and obviously an ongoing problem with the chevrolet tahoe as we know of a recall with the 04 chevrolet tahoe having this same problem.also, the air conditioner on the driver's side will start blowing hot air all of the sudden and continue to do so until the car is turned off and restarted.however, i am not nearly as concerned with this as with the speedometer.i feel strongly that there needs to be a recall in this situation asap and chevrolet needs to address this problem.i should not have to pay to have this fixed.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that while operating the air condition system in the vehicle, it became inoperable as smoke emitted from the vents. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the wiring harness for the heater unit had melted. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v070000 (electrical system). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 198,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that all of the instrument panel gauges were defective and did not provide an accurate reading. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the failure and advised that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 122,000.
Rear hatch/window failed to open via remote keyfob nor driver door button. Vehicle was parked at residence. Found that i could not open hatch nor window manually from in or outside which is an extremely dangerous safety hazard.
My 2005 chevy tahoe 71z speedometer has failed.it registers variable speeds which i know to be incorrect.internet search confirms it is the stepper motor which must be replaced.several complaints by other owners have been filed.gm should recall the 2005's as they did the 2003 and 2004 for the same problem.
Dt:the contact stated while driving 40 mph there was a clunking noise and the vehicle stalled completely.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the on-board computer was replaced.updated 9/11/2006 - when the vehicle stalled power brakes and power steering function was lost.the vehicle had to be towed to the dealer.
The driver side automatic seat quit working along with both the driver side and passengers side heated seats quit working as well.passenger side automatic seat worked fine.we took the tahoe into the dealer and they stated that the connector, under the drivers seat, was melted.they replaced the connector, however, the driver side automatic seat controls seem backwards.when you pull the leaver up, the seat goes down, and vice versa.i am very concerned that this malfunction may cause a fire.
While driving down freeway at 65mph the speedometer went to 105mph. It now reads 25mph when stopped and will read 65mph while only traveling 35mph. This has been verified with a gps. This has been an on going problem with a lot of gm vehicles and many customers have complained about the same problem. The only fix is a new instrument cluster. Something needs to be done about this, a recall needs to be done!
2005 chevy tahoe.speedometer started reading higher than it should.i go 60 and speedometer reads 90.when i stop speedometer stays at 30.gm has recalled 03-04 but not 05 models.i have spoken with several dealers and several chat rooms and several of the 05's are having the same problem.called gm they said my vin was not in the recall.i told them that i had the same problem as everyone else.they said i had to get a diagnostic test on the vehicle then they would review and decide if they would pay for the repair.this is ridiculous.it is obvious a problem with the 05 models.gm should repair these.
The speedometer would not decrease speed, and but would register an increase, and consequently would not reflect actual speed.i couldcorrect problem by repeatedly starting vehicle, until eventually it just would no longer register a change in speed at all.now i have no idea what speed my vehicle is traveling.
Shift lever position indicator in the instrument panel cluster does not illuminate and driver does not know which gear vehicle is in.
I have a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.around 70k miles, my speedometer began acting up.it started off sticking at around 30 mph no matter how fast i really was going.lately it will either not work at all, will stick at 30 mph, or has even began to climb to 120 mph while i was doing 30 mph according to a gps which i am forced to use to measure my speed because of no speedometer.the dealer quoted me $500.00.this is very bothersome and i know many people who are experiencing the same issue.chevrolet acts as if we are at fault for this everytime i go in and complain.i have been pulled over 4 times because i was going over the speed limit by less than 10 mph.this could be avoided if i had a working speedometer.
Tailgate and rear window will not lock.
2005 chevy tahoe w/ approx. 86,000 miles oil pressure gauge and speedometer not working properly. Both gauges continue to move back and forth sometimes going all the way to the left(in the red) and sometimes all the way to the right.
The speedometer on my 2005 tahoe is reading incorrectly. The other day i was traveling down the interstate when i looked down at my speed and the gauge was reading 120mph. I pulled off at the next exit when i came to s a stop; the speedometer was indicating 60mph. It has been 3 days since this happened and it still gives the same false readings.
My 2005 chevrolet tahoe's speedometer is not working not only does my speedometer not work right it tells me i'm going 80 mph while parked. Believe it or not it quit working 200 miles after the warranty went out. The next week we got a letter from gmac saying that there is a problem with the dash, the speedometer or the gas gage may stop working. If you have 70,000 or less they will fix it at no cost to you and if you have already had it repaired, they will reimburse you.
The speedometer of my 2005 chevy tahoe no longer works. I have complained to the dealer, but they say they won't fix it because it is not currently being recalled.
When attempting to crank vehicle, it just turned over acting like it was not firing. Will finally crank after several attempts. After having issue looked at by a mechanic, he stated that ignition was sending a false signal to cam. Shortly after the odometer started giving a error and cannot get the present mileage any longer. Just learned of this site and was trying to see if others were having the same problems.have not yet taken to mechanic on issue with odometer.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the speedometer failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.
The instrument cluster on my 2005 chevrolet tahoe has malfunctioned. Vehicle only has 27,559 miles on it. Looks like a known problem by gm as they settled a lawsuit with delphi and this should be recalled and fixed at no cost.
My rear liftgate and window for my 2005 chevy tahoe will not unlock.this is a dangerous issue.i've read a blog of almost 300 different owners that are having this issue ...www.chefseattle.com/blog/site-news/suburban-rear-liftgate-wont-unlock-how-to-fix.is chevrolet going to be held responsible for this issue?what if there is an accident or fire in the vehicle and people need to escape through the rear liftgate door?is it going to take a death for someone to address this issue instead of charging owners almost $500.00 to fix this even though it is not our fault?
While driving for about 3 minutes on street the tahoe started to smell like smoke, we then noticed smoke coming out of the air conditioning vents in a matter of seconds there where flames coming out from underneath the glove compartment. The car caught on fire and the air bag deployed. The dash board was completely melted from the fire, the front windshilled shattered with force towards the back of the truck.
Speedometer randomly goes toa much higher speed that car is actually traveling.used gps to verify car going 65 but speedometer registering 85.radio and climate control panel on vehicle also gets very hot to the touch when this occurs. Speedometer will randomly reset and work fine for a while.this is an ongoing problem and started about 2 years ago.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the contact stated that the fuel gauge on the instrument panel indicated half a tank.while driving 75 mph, the vehicle ran out of gasoline.he had to maneuver across four lanes of traffic and avoid several near crashes.the following day, after a full tank of gas was placed in the vehicle, the fuel gauge indicated that the fuel tank was empty.the dealer stated that there were no recalls on his year, make, and model vehicle.the contact also stated that the other instrument panel cluster illuminated intermittently.the failure mileage was 42,000 and current mileage was 47,000. Updated 09/10/08the consumer stated the oil gauge did not work and the light on the instrument panel intermittently displayed passenger air bag off. Updated 09/17/08. Updated 03/04/09.*ljthe consumer stated he was experiencing major electrical problems. There appeared to be a short in the headlights and taillights. Updated 03/06/09.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the contact stated that the speedometer would remain at 50 mph, even if she was not accelerating.the gauge never displayed zero.while the vehicle was stationary, the speedometer would occasionally display 120 mph.in addition, the transmission was malfunctioning and would slip into gear hard.the entire transmission was rebuilt three times.even after the transmission was repaired, the speedometer still malfunctioned.it became stuck at 120 mph and never decreased.the contact discovered nhtsa campaign id number 05v055000 (power train:manual transmission:shift pattern indicator).the dealer stated that the vehicle would not be repaired because it exceeded 70,000 miles.the manufacturer would not provide any information due to a pending class action suit.the current mileage was approximately 105,000 and failure mileage was 68,583.
Rear lift gate will not unlock and it doesn't have a manual release inside nor does it have a key access from outside the vehicle to unlock it.if involved in an accident/wreck someone could be trapped in the vehicle with no way out.shift indicator light in dash does not illuminate - unable to tell what gear the vehicle is in.extreme safety hazards!chevy should be held responsible and issue a recall to prevent someone from being injured.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the key failed to turn and start the vehicle after numerous attempts. The vehicle was finally able to start, but the failure recurred. In addition, there was a fuel odor coming from the vehicle. The contact discovered a fuel leak near the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump and the fuel lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The initial failure was not diagnosed. The contact stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 06e043000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.he stated while the vehicle was parked he noticed a fire in his fuse box that destroyed the wiring harness.the failure occurred under the hood under the left front fender.the vehicle is at the dealer being repair with a cost. He contacted the manufacture and they would get back with him within twenty four hours. The manufacturerhas not contacted him.the failure mileage was 56,000.blupdated 09/29/09
Speedometer shows 90 to 120 mph while diving 50 to 60 mph. Called dealer today and was told instrument cluster needs replaced at a cost of $500 to $600 to fix. This is a known problem, 03 and 04s have been recalled.
All the gauges on my dashboard quit working all at once except my fuel gauge and speedometer. There are lots of complaints on this and gm needs to issue a recall and fix this.
I am writing this to complain about a fire hazard with the seat warmers in 2005 chevy tahoe. I had to take my vehical to the repair shop because my seat warmer would get warmer than usual and after 2 to 3 minutes would shut off. Come to find out the seat warmer pad had shorted out and burnt. I have the seat warmer pad that is charcoaled and burnt. I have contacted and spoke to gm representives 4 times informing them of the fire hazard all i get is this is an isolated incident, my vehicle has to many miles and i took it to a repair shop other than gm. This is a serious fire hazard and i think the public needs to be aware and gm needs to investigate.
Instrument cluster panel on my 2005 chevy tahoe that was manufactured in july, 2004 is defective.gm will not warrant this model because it has the year 2005 on; however, it was manufactured in 2004.our 2004 had the same problem and was warranted.i cannot afford to pay this repair and have no idea what speed i am driving.i could speed excessively without knowing and cause an accident.i could drive below the speed limit and get rear-ended.it's apparent this is an-ongoing issue and gm should warrant the 2005 as well.
While driving i noticed a smell of something electrical burning.the heater was on so i immediately turned the heater off.a while later when i turned the heat back on the front blower did not work even though the rear blower did.being and easily replaceable part, my husband took the panel off to remove the blower motor.while trying to get the motor out he found that the wires were melted together and the resistor plug looked burned.we have owned this vehicle since july of 2005 and were not aware of the gm service bulletin regarding the matter until today, december 29, 2013.if it were not for the internet i would not know it now.i am concerned not only because we own two vehicles that my have this problem but that if i had not immediately turned off the unit that my vehicle would have caught fire.how many people are going to be hurt if this is not taken care of or made more public?
Our 2005 tahoe has been having speedometer problems.it seems to not decrease speed when we slow down and when we accelerate the speed just keeps going up on speedometer until it pegs.we have noticed that there are recalls for several earlier year models but not on the 2005 model.if we get in an accident, police could say we are going faster than we are and our insurance company could deny the claim.also a possibility of a speeding ticket not knowing how fast you are going.major safety issue!!!!!the speedometer problem happens randomly.we only drive the vehicle approximately 100 miles a week.speedometer acts up 2 to 3 times a week.
2005 chevrolet tahoe. Fuel pump eruption, due to the smell of coming from the vehicle. The consumer also noticed a leak from under the vehicle. The fuel pump and fuel line needed to be replaced. *mwalso, the window switch was replaced and the key became stuck in the ignition.
I went to the store aprox at 8pm and go back aprox at 915pm and park my car. Aprox at 11pm my neighbors call us and said that my truck was on fire. The fire department said that this started aprox from the engine part.
My speedometer jumps around and at any given time could read 20mph above my actual speed. When the vehicle is shut off, it sometimes sticks around the 10 to 20 mph mark. Nothing has been done to correct the defect.
Tachometer needle fell to 0 while traveling at highway speed. Previous service bulletin was issued with a mileage limit on the repair. Dealership would replace part, however, i would be required to pay for labor hours. Currently, this problem still exists because repair labor would have cost in excess of $400. Also, shift indicator light is now extremely dim and sometimes does not light up at all. There is a recall out for other 2005 tahoes, however, my vin number is not included even though i am having the same issue. I called and spoke with gm today and they said that both items would be the same area and that neither could be fixed under a tsb or a recall. Both problems are known to nhtsa and gm, but gm is not willing to fix these known problems due to a mileage issue.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact was driving 70 mph when the speedometer failed and reset to zero. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 61,890 and the current mileagewas 62,100.
My complaint is a steady vibration in the steering wheel while my 2005 tahoe is idling in traffic, car in gear, basically crawling along in traffic. Although vibration never gets to the point of seeing the steering wheel physically shake, the vibration gets stronger after the vehicle has been running (gets hotter). Vibration creates a sensation similar to a low electrical current running up your arm. After sitting in traffic for30 to 40 minutes, your fingertips become almost numb.vehicle has bee back to the dealership twice for this problem and has been reported directly to gm. Gm's response is that the vibration is caused by an electrical fan running after the vehicle gets heated and can not be resolved.
When i start my car start my car it says service sevilla track and service airbag with in conjunction with this happening my wiper blades don't work and my cruise control does not work as well i've also noticed this happening on my mom's 2000 chevy tahoe and on my previously owned 2001 gmc yukon i think it is across the board gm electrical problem
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the instrument panel failed to illuminate without warning. In addition, the contact stated that the rear passenger and driver side brake lights failed to illuminate intermittently. The bulbs were replaced several times, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle sputtered without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the emission canister needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Check engine light won't go off. Not able to see gear panel prnd321. Right turning signal doesn't work sometimes or make high beams come on when it comes on.
While traveling at 65mph on interstate, speedometer on my 2005 chevy tahoe, went arbitrarily up to 120mph and did not return to normal even after engine turned off and restarted- i can see that many others are dealing with the same problem - has there been a recall?
Tamara recall lights shorting out (inside)they come on when they are not spouse to.licence plate lights flicker.moving and sitting still on both.transmission problems (slipping) read multiple forms online and they say the transmissions are junk that makes alot of people not want them.i love my tahoe and would love for the issues to be solved for me and everyone else.
The safety issue here is the fact that gm door actuators do not work properly.gm is not recalling the parts and this has been going on for years.doors will not lock, or open consistently, and they do not cover the repairs unless you have the original factory warranty or it might be covered on major guard which they don't even offer on my vehicle.the internet is filled with thousands of people with the issue.people can be carjacked, or their vehicles stolen because their door locks won't function.gm just flat out does not care, and the problem isn't just on the tahoe & suburban lines.here are just a few links out there on this issue.http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/webx?14@@.f206d4b/0http://www.chevymalibuforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7950and here's someone who appears to have a fix, get rid of the cheap chinese parts.http://www.greenhybrid.com/discuss/f69/tahoe-door-lock-actuator-problem-solution-27064/the fact that this business practice is allowed to continue seems absurd.this part needs to be fixed and a recall issued.at a minimum it should be covered by gm for all failures on all vehicles.
The chevrolet tahoe tailgate lock do not have an emergency release inside the car. The tailgate actuator has stop functioning on my car and there no way for me to open the door.not even trying to open with a key, because there is no key option to open the door on this model on the outside tailgate.since, chevrolet failed to place a release inside the car. I feel that this is a serious life or death issue. If my kids are in the car trying to escape a fire or car submerged under water. There will be no way for them to escape.this item need to be corrected and fixed.i'm finding several incidents on the internet were the locking unit has failed.this is a serious safety issue.
2005 chevy tahoespeedometer will not read correctly, sticks and can be 20mph off at times or stuck over 100.
My fan blower stopped working in june.took my tahoe to local mechanic, who diagnosed a failed blower resistor. He replaced the resistor on 6/19. About a week later, the fan stopped again. On 7/3 he found the resistor corroded after only two weeks. His parts place replaced the resistor on warranty. On 7/4 the fan blower blew up. 1/3 of the blower cover is missing (chards). I was in reverse in my driveway, with the ac running only a couple of minutes, and her a loud bang and a puff of smoke came out the glove box. Gm has special coverage bulletins 11046, 10240 and 10240a on similar problems with similar vehicles, but they say they do not cover the tahoe.
My speedometer has recently either not moved at all or displays excessive speeds including 120mph when traveling on average of 35mph to 50mph which is are the regular limits for my area.some speeds were as low as 25.lately, it has only worked for a small percentage of the time.the onstar diagnostic does not even detect that this has/is a problem.
I was at a red light and the car tried turning off and also i was on the highway and the car started slowing down. The dashboard lights have gone out on the radio and on the steeling wheel as well. I am very scared that this issue with the speed will cause me a fatal accident and i have two kids.
2005 chevy tahoespeedometer will not read correctly, sticks and can be 20mph off at times or stuck over 100.
Approximately 5:50 p.m. As my daughter and i were driving down a busy road the car stopped without warning. Many of the dashboard lights came on and the steering locked. I was able to crank again to pull it into a business parking lot. I was not completely in the parking space and was concerned about upsetting the flow of traffic for this business, but could not crank the car to get it completely in the parking space. As i was out of town, the vehicle had to be towed approximately 75 miles. When the guy came to tow the car all the lights were still on, steering still locked and unable to start engine up. The guys at the chevrolet dealership where it was towed started working on the vehicle on friday morning by closing they still had not figured out the problem with the car. Around lunch time on monday they realized it was the ignition switch. The part was $49.52 but the labor was costly. I ended up paying $476 to have the vehicle repaired. Really did not feel safe driving the car for quite some time. Can't believe my vehicle will not be covered under this recall when it is the exact same symptoms. My statement on the repair order states, "the customer says the car stopped as she was driving down the road."
Speedometer failure.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that when attempting to start the vehicle, it failed to start. The contact also stated that a clicking sound would come from the steering column when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was a possible ignition failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
Occasionally smelled electrical burning inside vehicle.ac/heater blower cut out but came back on.december 2008 ac/heater blower stopped completely.went to dealership to confirm which fuse to check.was told it was probably something else and made an appointment for diagnosis.january 2009 was notified that the blower motor resistor and connector shorted out and melted (not covered under extended warranty).after researching the issue contacted manufacturer about possible recall, was told they would split cost of repair.dealer repair facility would not give us the faulty parts.said manufacturer would get the faulty parts due to them agreeing to pay for half of the repairs.still cost me $262 for diagnosis/repair.total repair price originally $323.many manufacturer vehicles have had same problem and i should not have had to pay anything.faulty part was upgraded by manufacturer and has been the subject of several service bulletins.
Speedometer does not read right speeds.
I currently own a 2005 chevrolet tahoe, recently the speedometer and oil gauge meter stopped working completely. Chevy refuses to fix the condition unless i pay out of pocket 800.00.
The liftgate and glass will not unlock and there is no release from the inside so you are trapped if something happens. I have looked to see if there is a recall and there is not. I have contacted gm with no response as well as seeing hundreds of other people post online that are in the same situation. This makes the car a death trap in case of accident, fire, going in water as you cannot get out of the car from the inside if you are in the rear nor can someone run around the back and open the handle to try to get someone out in the case of an emergency. Something needs to be done asap!
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. Over the years, the vehicle experienced several electrical failures, including the instrument panel lighting malfunctioning. The failure made it difficult to view the gauge information. In addition, the turn signals would only operate when the fog lights were activated, and the rear windshield wiper malfunctioned. The vehicle was taken to gilcrest chevrolet (6030 s. Tacoma way, tacoma, wa) where the rear window motor and instrument panel were replaced; however, the failures eventually recurred. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 10,000. .consumer stated dash light replace multi windshield wiper and replaced passenger seat heater.
Steering wheel locks on his own, brake engages for no reason electrical system off
The rear tailgate lock stopped functioning which prevents the rear window or the tailgate to be opened. There is not a manual way to open the tailgate or window from the inside either.
Speedometer froze on 57mph. It seemed to fix itself after a series of startups.
Fuel gauge is constantly inaccurate.the car has a 26 gallon tank, after filling up and driving sometimes 50 miles the gas light will come on telling me i am out of gas.i have sit on level surfaces watching the gauge go from full down to completely empty several times.this problem could potentially leave a person stranded as they do not know how much gas is in the vehicle.
2005 chevrolet tahoe dash gauges-speedometer erratic, gives false reading and eventually gets stuck at 120 mph, reset by removing "dic"(dash instrument cluster) fuse and starting vehicle then replacing fuse (found this in a blog about this problem), fixes for unspecified amount of time before failing again. This is a known problem and should be mandatory recall by manufacture, as of now only a "voluntary" class action suite settlement to repair at 7 years or 70,000 miles. Most units fail on, around or after this. This is a huge safety concern. I did not realize i was going over 70 mph in a 55 mph zone as my speedometer was reading 45 mph at this specific malfunction, i turned on my gps to verify because i felt i was going much faster than my speedometer was reading and the gps read over 70 mph!. Please demand a recall for these acknowledged problems by gm for 2003 thru 2007 model years! this is due to faulty gauge motors installed by the maker. I contacted gm and they said recalls are governed by the state therefore it was not recalled and only repair at the specified date mileage range in the service bulletin. This is a complete sham, the customer should not have to incur expense because of a known faulty item used in manufacturing. Where is the accountability for these people?....please help!
Speedometer has an erratic display. Sticks at 40/45 says i am going 120 when parked? etc...
I also have a gm speedometer that failed.we were driving along the highway, cruise control on, when speedometer became erratic and pegged to 120 mph. It has not returned to normal operation. I am out of town and have not i made repairs as of yet.
The speedometer only works intermittently.it will seem to be reporting the correct speed then changes to a speed we could not be going.usually under reporting the correct speed.we will be going between 50 and 60 mph and it will read 30. This has been going on for several years and we have tried to compensate by using the tachometer but lately i don't feel i can trust it either.the repair is between $400 and $500 and i now read others are having the same problem.i'm sure there are many others like mewho have not reported this issue because i only found out about this site today.
Speedometer works sometimes and not others.does not register correct speed.this is a very dangerous, and gm should address these faulty parts.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the contact stated that the speedometer completely failed.the dealer stated that there were no recalls on his year and model vehicle. The current mileage was 68,510 and failure mileage was 68,005.updated 5/5//08
Speedometer needle off when driving. It reads 70 mph when only going 30 mph. It would reset 5-10 mph at a time if car was turned off and then restarted. The needle is now past 120 and not moving at all. This is a safety issue and should be resolved by gm asap.
Speedometer, tachometer, and oil pressure gauge on my 2005 chevy tahoe stopped working. All of them began to operate sporadically before they stopped completely stopped working. Not only is it extremely dangerous for the speedometer to not work correctly, as it should, but it also leaves me to bear the burden of a financial loss of speeding tickets or any accidents that were caused by its failure.first, the oil pressure gauge stopped work, then the tachometer, and then the speedometer. All of them did the same thing when they stopped working, so i began to think there maybe a bigger problem. Once i started doing some research on-line, i found there was a huge population of 2003-2005 gm vehicle owners affected by this defect. There obviously should have been a recall and probably some lawsuits as well. Please help me.
I own a2005 gmc pick up and a 2005 chevy tahoe and the speed odometer just goes crazy in both vehicles. They go from 50 to 0 to 85 and back to 0 . The local dealer say they can't find anything wrong but i keep reading that this is getting very common in these vehicles. Is there some way to do a recall before someone gets hurt or killed.
While driving speedometer stays at 0. Instrument cluster is malfunctioning.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the speedometer became erratic and stopped working completely.the dealer advised the contact to call chevrolet customer assistance.there are safety recalls on the 2003 and 2004 chevrolet tahoe's; however, there were none for the 2005 models. The current mileage was 61,100 and failure mileage was 59,000. Updated 4/16/08
Speedometer works intermittently.sometimes stays at 0, sometimes pegged, sometimes in between...all independent of speed.found this was a widespread issue and dealer states gm is covering repairs for 03-04, but not yet 05 and i believe to only 70k miles.my 05 is at 67k miles and i have requested goodwill from gm.they should be covering this repair.this is obviously and extremely common occurrence due to faulty manufacturing.there is also a smell of plastic or another electronic component burning/melting.no fire yet.
The speedometer would not decrease speed, and but would register an increase, and consequently would not reflect actual speed.i couldcorrect problem by repeatedly starting vehicle, until eventually it just would no longer register a change in speed at all.now i have no idea what speed my vehicle is traveling.
My 2005 z71 tahoe's stepper motors cluster is bad (mph and fuel gauges). I advised chevy of this and they said it cannot be replaced. I feel this should be a recall due to this being a safety issue with mph/gas gauge having improper readings.
Fuel gauge on 2005 chevrolet tahoe does not accurately report fuel level.
About 3 months ago, my speedometer stopped working properly.at just over 50k miles, the speedometer needle stopped returning to zero speed.sometimes it's pinned at over 120 mph no matter the speed (even at a stop).it's not exactly comfortable driving i70 during winter conditions not knowing your speed. Would i be negligent for not fixing...or chevrolet?what if an accident occurred while i had real estate buyers in my car. Just 3 years ago, i invested almost 40k in this automobile and now they want another $600 to repair.what happened to safety first or the consumer always being right.
The speedometer is broken.after registering wrong speeds for a day (sometimes 0 mph), it finally stuck on 120mph.it no longer works.i contacted the dealer for help with the speedometer and with a problem i was having with inaccurate tire pressure readings and an inoperable second row (middle) seat belt.the dealer said sorry it is out of warranty, but the salesperson said she would check to see if there was anything she could do and call me back.i never heard from her.i can appreciate normal wear and tear repairs.on a two year old vehicle, i expected to replace my tires, not my seat belt and speedometer.at this point, i do not intend to buy another gm product!!i also do not intend to purchase from james wood in denton or decatur, texas.
I have a 2005 chevy tahoe. I have had nothing but problems with the instrument cluster. The fuel gauge works correctly only half of the time. It sometimes tells me i have a full tank and then when you restart the truck it shows empty and the low fuel light comes on. Now today the speedometer was showing 120 at approximately 65 mph. We turned off the vehicle and it shows 20 mph. This is unsafe and needs to be recalled. Please help me and every other tahoe owner with this same problem. Thank you
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the contact stated that the speedometer was working sporadically and displayed inaccurate readings.he took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that there was a recall for the 2003-2004 models; however, there was no recall for the 2005 model.the vehicle has not been repaired due to the labor and repair costs. The failure and current mileages were 60,000.updated 01-29-08.
The speedometer on my 2005 chevy tahoe no longer works correctly.on 9-21-07, i noticed that the speedometer was resting at 0, as i was traveling down the road.i had approximately 50,000 miles on my tahoe at that time.since then, there are days that it works properly, days that it sits at 0, and then there are days that it registers 30 mph while i am doing closer to 70 or it will register 90 mph while i am only doing 60.
Speedometer cluster jumps around then fails completely i replaced the cluster it has already been recalled on the 2003 and 2004 tahoes i was just wondering what the process was for getting a recall done i would appreciate any information you could give me thank you thomas thornburgh.
At approx. 58,000 miles my recently purchased (1 week ago from a chevrolet dealer) my 2005 chevrolet tahoe's speedometer started moving erratically and sticking.you can be driving at 45 mph and the speedometer will show anywhere from 65-120+ mph.it can be set back down to zero if you continually start the engine over and over which will allow it to drop about 10 mph each time.
Speedometer quit working on 2005 gmac tahoe.stuck on 120 mph.. Have no idea how fast i am driving due to speedometer not working.appears to be a common issue in gmac trucks, however gmac won't repair the part if the vehicle has more than 70,000 miles on it.
2005 chevrolet tahoe. Speedometer failure. The speedometer is stuck at 20 mph. Personal research has led me to believe that chevrolet has acknowledged a defect in drive motors within the instrumentpanel from a parts manufacturer in 10 models produced from 2003 to 2007. This is a definite safety hazard that chevrolet needs to address via a recall of all effected models.
Speedometer needle stuck at 120 mark- so didn't know what my exact speed was.i work in downtown dallas and traffic is pretty bad at most times and not knowing how fast/slow you're going is pretty dangerous.i took it to get fixed at dealership and was charged for this correction because apparently it doesn't fall under any special provision gm is giving and will not recall this issue.service guy told me that they were only given special provisions on 2003 and 2004 models- and i have a 2005- even though it is the same issue with bad cluster.i tried working with gm to get my $200 refund, but no luck. Service guy recommend to me to keep my receipt in case they doa recall or decide that they will correct this problem- not sure what they are waiting on- more accidents to happen???
My 2005 cherolet tahoe speedometer is no longer working. It registers much higher than my actual speed even at an idle.
The speedometer is way off, when sitting still it registers 60 mph., on the highway it bottoms out at 120.
Was driving on interstate returning from saint louis.noticed 'speed" kept getting lower and lower.luckily, i had 2 gps devices in my car, and had to use them to determine my speed, as the speedometer eventually dropped below zero.i pulled off of the highway and restarted the truck, it didn't work.the speed initially showed about 40 mph below my actual speed, and then drifted back down to below zero for the rest of the trip.
My speedodometer is malfunctioning as well as many other gmc owners.there has been no effort to fix the problem.
- the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe, the current and failure mileages are both 78,000.while driving the speedometer displays the incorrect speed regardless of the speed she is traveling.this failure has occurred for the last two months.the contact intends to take vehicle to be serviced for the failure. The vin was not available at time of complaint.
Speedometer stopped working at 45,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.while driving approximately 45 mph, thecontact observed the speedometer displayed incorrect reading, regardless of the speed beingtraveled. In addition, failure occurredwith the fuel gauge which resulted in aninaccurate reading atany givenfuel level capacity. The vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction at this time.the failure mileage was unknown.
I have a 2005 tahoe with 55,600 miles. The problem is with the speedometer. It gets stuck usually around the 60 mph mark then it thinks that 60 mph is actually 0 mph. So when you start driving it goes past the 120mph mark and stays. I called gm and they told me that the problem is with the 2003 2004 and would not be covered under the recall because it is a 2005.
I have a 2005 tahoe which i bought new. About 5-6 months ago my speedometer went out. I didn't have the funds at the time and let it go even though i felt it was a safety issue. I received no letter from gm that they were having this problem until today. I brought my car into my local goodyear place and they were going to charge me hundreds of dollars to fix it. My sister, who had worked at gm, had me call the chevrolet dealership jack burford in richmond, kentucky. They said they'd give me a new cluster but that i would have to pay for the labor ($130), i then called gn at 800-222-1020 and talked with a woman named[xxx]. She told me that they did not have a recall on that issue but a "special policy". Also, it was good only for cars with less than 80,000 miles. Mine has 97,000. They're still going to fix it though but it makes me upset that they didn't notify me about this problem and that i have to pay for the labor. The policy apparently went into effect in 2005, when i purchased the vehicle and expires in july, 2012. I wonder if other people have had this problem and, if so, since this is potentially a safety issue, should the cars be recalled? thank you.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
As i was driving to work in heavy traffic the speedometer was showing 40 mph when i was traveling 60+. Then it went to zero. I have to pay for to repair and i think gm knows of this defect since they have recalled 2003-2004 vehicles. I'm not sure i will ever purchase another gm product.
Speedometer stopped working or will display false speeds from 0 while driving on highway to 120 while driving on surface streets. While researching this problem i have found many other 2005 chevy tahoe owners experiencing the same problem.
My husband and i purchased a brand new 2005 chevrolet tahoe. In the month of march 2009 my speedometer started to read i was going 120 miles per hr but of course that was not the speed i was going. We took our tahoe back to the servco dealership because i had googled and read that there was a speedometer problem and gm was fixing the problem. Well the dealership said that the vin # for the cluster was not one that gm was going to replace for free. Why would they replace some and not all. I would like to make a complaint. I will never buy a american made car as long as i live. That's for sure.
Speedometer is obviously not displaying the correct speed. Going around 70 mph display reads 30 mph, other times going 70 and readout is 110 mph. Internet research shows this is a major problem with class action suits already filed in two states or more.
2005 chevrolet tahoe 79450 miles, purchased truck new in 2006. Speedometer erratic for a few weeks and now shows anywhere from 0-120+ mph sitting still or driving. To dealer on 3/5/2015 with 80730 miles. After complaining dealer quoted me $400.00 down from $535.00 to replace instrument cluster. Chevrolet said they will not help me at all but issued me a file and referenced their bulletin #. There are over 600 pages of complaints about this problem. Definite safety issue, this will be my last gm product ever.
I own a 2005 chevrolet tahoe under 70k miles.my speedometer quit working. I found out that gm issued a specials program to fix the instrument panel on 03, 04 and some 05 tahoes if they are under 70k miles.my vin number was outside the lot of approved vin's.i contacted gm customer service and was led to believe they would provide some coverage for my repairs if the gm mechanic could verify that the problem with my speedometer was the exact problem being recalled.after one week of phone messages from gm that they were working towards a resolve, i was denied any coverage.my complaint is lack of ownership of the problem with my tahoe by gm.the mechanic at our local gm dealer verified to gm that my instrument panel was the exact defect that was being recalled.i was still denied and was told by the customer relations department that the speedometer not working was due to the previous owner?this was such a ludicrous statement by customer service. We are now forced with fixing the speedometer at our expense even though it was proven to be the fault of general motors.i am filing a complain with the better business bureau as well.
Speedometer quit working at 64,030 miles.this is a 2005 chevrolet tahoe z7 4x4.vehicle is out of warranty.purchased after market warranty.appears to be a major problem with this type vehicle and not covered under extended warranty. Dealer unable/unwilling to locate replacement part.
The speedometer is erratic.the needle is jerky when rising, and sometimes the gauge gradually reads slower speeds until it finally hits 0.the problem is usually resolved by turning off the car and restarting, but the jerky needle is always present.
While driving through town the speedometer on my tahoe was saying i was going 90 mph.after cycling the key on and off several times it was working correctly, then while traveling down the interstate the speedometer quit working completely being stuck on 67 mph no matter what speed i was going, causing me to get flipped off several times by fellow drivers.eventually the needle started moving again but said i was going 120 when i was going 60 on my gps.
My speedometer has stopped working in my 2005 chevy tahoe.
I was driving to work january 8th of 2008 and i looked down to set my cruise control and my speedometer was registering over 120 mph.i had to guess how fast i was going and went to the dealership to get it repaired.the service rep said it would be covered and when i went to get it the next day said i owed them a $100 deductible because of the extended warranty.my vehicle has 53,000 miles on it and i wouldn't think a speedometer would go out that soon if at all and should be covered by the manufacturer for using faulty parts.i asked the rep if my speedometer went out again would i have to pay again and he said that it had a 12 month or 12 thousand mile warranty on it.so if this happens again i will have to foot the bill.this is a safety issue and everyone in every state should have their vehicles recalled and fixed with dysfunctional parts.i personally nor will my family buy a gm product again because of this and their service.
Erratic speedometer indications, speedometer stuck on 120mph while driving at a speed calibrated by memory using the tachometer. The same complaints submitted by multiple purchasers of this vehicle for years that the problem is apparently a dash cluster for consumer paid replacement of$450.00.
I was just driving on the freeway and the speedometer just fell to zero and stopped working.i took it to the dealer by our house and they want $650.00 to fix it.i have read on the internet that this is happening to tons of chevy tahoes.i can't afford to fix it now so i am driving a vehiclei have no idea as to what speed i am going.it is very dangerous because you have to guess what your speed is.this should definitely be recalled.
My 2005 chevy tahoe has developed a problem with the speedometer. The gauge reads 20-30 mph faster than it should and then it eventually pegs out at 120 mph. It will return to 0 after the switch is cycled on/off but it's impossible to know your speed when it's malfunctioning.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.whenever the vehicle is driven at any speed, the speedometer displays the incorrect mileage.the tachometer also fails to display the correct rpm's.the current mileage was 50,000 and failure mileage was 30,000.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. When the vehicle was started, the instrument panel became inoperable intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 136,000.
My speedometer has a mind of it's own.it will say i'm doing 20mph when i know i'm going much faster than that.or it will register 0mph.i took my tahoe into the shop today and they said that nothing came up as being wrong on their computer so nothing was fixed.i contacted chevy and they said that was true, they can't fix it unless they know what the problem is, i know what it is, the speedometer isn't working! this has happened to me 3 times now, i will continue to take it to the dealership and to call chevy everytime this occurs, i want results, not a speeding ticket!
My speedometer on my 2005 chevy tahoe z71 4x4 stops working intermittently shows we are going way slower or 0 when we are driving.
I own a 2005 chevrolet tahoe with 52,400 miles and the speedometer just gave out. The speedometer head is not working. When the engine is off and in park the speedometer still indicates 40-90 mph. When driving the speedometer indicates anywherebetween 90-120 mph. I spoke with the dion lloyd who is the service manager at chapman chevrolet in payson az and he told me that gmwould only fix 2003 and 2004 tahoe's but not the 2005. He said that they had recalled the 2003-204 tahoes and would fix them but not the 2005. In researching this speedometer failure on the internet it looks like this is a widespread problem that gm should be fixing as soon as possible.
I own a 2005 chevy tahoe. The speedometer stops working in the middle of the road and starts showing wrong speeds. This is a serious security issue as you suddenly lost in the middle of traffic because you do not know how fast you are traveling. I was checking online and there are thousands of such complaints. I think dot should seriously look into this issue as a safety issue.
I was driving and i looked at the speedometer and it was buried past 120mph even though i was only going around 30.it also was stuck on 80mph after i turned the vehicle off.it does not work at all.the speedometer fails everytime we drive the vehicle.
Our speedometer does not tell us how fast we are going all the time. Most of the time it is fine but occasionally it will register a different speed than what we are traveling. Sometimes it says we are going slower than what we are actually going and sometimes it says we are going faster than we are going.
Dt:the problem first started around 8-1-05.at this time all the lights in the dash area started flashing before the battery died.this occurred while the vehicle was parked.the battery had been replaced because itfailed previously.the dealership told the consumer that they believed that the problemwas causeda short in the electrical system.they told him that they would replace the ignition switch.there was no accident because of this.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the horn would no longer sound when pressure was applied to the center of the steering wheel. The only time the horn would sound was when the button on the key fob was engaged. The failure was not diagnosed nor was the vehicle repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 72,000. The vin was unavailable.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the contact experienced difficulty when starting her vehicle.she believed the failure was due to a shortage and occurred intermittently.the failure also occurred in certain weather conditions.the vehicle has been to the dealer between 6-7 times and they acknowledged the shortage, but could not pinpoint the location.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 33,700 and failure mileage was 25,000.
Dt:the fuel pump quit pumping gas, the wiring got hot on it and it started smoking. Tooke vehicle to the dealer, they saidfuel pump was badand wiring overheated.they replaced the pump, and the wiring. This happened on august 3, 2005.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.while driving 25 mph, the contact noticed smoke rising from the dashboard area and behind the radio control and air conditioner.by the time the fire department arrived, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames.the fire department extinguished the fire, but the vehicle was destroyed.a fire report was filed.the current and failure mileages were 33,400. The consumer believed there was a defect within the electrical system. Updated 08/28/07.
Truck shifts into 4 low and stability control shuts off for no apparent reason. Dangerous at the least. Heard of many cases of the same issue. Replaced switch ,still has issue.
I purchased this vehicle and was told the recalls was up to date, my concern is mostly when i sometimes hit the brakes i hear a humming sound. Not sure if it was due to a faulty recall or not.
When releasing the emergency brake i heard a loud snapping noise. I noticed that the release lever was very lose and my emergency brake had not fully disengaged. I had just picked my kids up from school when this happened. I was still able to drive at a slow speed with an annoying chime going off since the break had not fully disengaged. My husband being a mechanic looked at the release lever when he pulled on it the lever along with the bicycle brake wire came off. I could not believe gm used such a cheap wire. This wire hadsnapped and started unraveling. If i would have pressed on the emergency brake again i would not have been able to drive.we ordered a new oem part that my husband will be putting in. This is on top of all theother repairs that have been made on our tahoe last year our transfer case went while i was driving 72000 miles on the suv. The transfer case had to change along with having our transmission rebuilt.our stability control message was going on and off. I haven't seen this message for awhile now. Only one light is working on the steering wheel these lights burnt out on our third year of ownership.a year ago while driving my kids to school the truck completely shut down no warning just shut down. I had to put it in park to restart it. I called the dealership close by they said they had never heard of this happening but next time it happens bring it in. This was our first brand new car purchase back in 2005, we own two other cars that were pre-owned both bmw they are over 20 years old and we have not had half the problems we have seen with our tahoe. This will be our last american made vehicle we will purchase bmw, mercedes, or toyota will be our next family vehicle. We will not purchase another gm. Quality and dependability is definitely not a priority.
Last year i notice that the traction active warning would go on and there was a humming noise that would follow.this would happen throughout the first few months. Around may of last year it started happening more often, as i was driving the truck would suddenly stop and turn off on its own after traction warning came on. Also after having stopped at a traffic light the traction warning would come on when accelerating to go . This has happened now everyday since may of last year. I have researched this online to see if this is happening to any other owners of tahoes and it has. From what i have read cheverolet has not been able to fix this problem. I have been fortunate not to be rear ended by another car but i have had some close calls.i have read that other drivers have turned off their "stabilitrak control". I have tried this and it does help to some extent but this is not the solution to the problem. Cheverolet knows of the problem and they have not issued a recall for this problem. Other drivers have brought their suv in for repairs and had the speed sensors replaced. When they drive their suv after the so call repair, the problem still continues. I believe the issue is the transfer case. Due to that every time this problem would start the noise would come from right under the driver seat. Even with the "stabilitrak control" being turned off the humming and rumbling of gear sounds right under the seat.this is a dangerous situation when driving 30 to 40 mph the suv coming to a stop and turning off. Several people wrote that this happened at hwy speed. This has been my fear. Cheverolet should officially recall tahoes with this issue.in canada a recall was put out due toa similar situation. Why is it that this hasn't been done here and owners in the us have to pay for repairs that have not solved the problem.
When operating the vehicle the stability system light comes on and the vehicle steering becomes wobbly.
Check engine light won't go off. Not able to see gear panel prnd321. Right turning signal doesn't work sometimes or make high beams come on when it comes on.
Brake line to rear ruptured causing brake fluid to leak out.could not drive vehicle without brakes.had it towed to chevrolet dealer for repair.repair cost was in excess of $1,300.
I own a 2005 chevy tahoe with 5.3 liter engine.the motor has consumed 2 quarts oil since its last oil change.the vehicle currently has 83000 miles.it is serviced regularly.chevrolet is well aware of this problem and needs to address it immediately.i am told by my local chevrolet dealership that it has repaired numerous vehicles because of the oil consumption issue.the cost to repair is between 300 and 3000 dollars.it might need new pistons and rings because of the faulty inexpensive part.epic fail by chevy not to alert their customers of this problem.
My bolts on my exhaust manifold are breaking off. I have five grand kids that ride in my truck at times. I don't want carbon monoxide coming into my truck. These bolts should not just break off, this is an expensive repair and should be recalled by the manufacturer. I have seen where this has been an on going issue with chevy and gm trucks. This truck was build with family in mind. Now because of this issue myself and my families safety is at risk.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and lost power on several occassions. The dealer diagnosed that the throttle body was faulty and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 221,648.
I heard a ticking noise in the engine compartment, upon investigation of where the noise was coming from, found a exhaust manifold bolt missing.research indicates this is a common occurrenceon these type vehicles
While driving 35 mph to a family function the low oil pressure light came on. The pressure gauge then started changing from 0-80 continously. After google search i found that i should pull over and turn off the engine. I took it to an independent mechanic where he checked the oil and it had the righ amount of oil and he stated that the oil looked good. I take my truck regularly for oil changes and my last one was may 1. 2015.the mechanic told me that it may be the oil pump so we replaced it. The cost for the service was $200. It is now only a few days later and the oil pressure gaige is still going from 0-80.

I went to the store aprox at 8pm and go back aprox at 915pm and park my car. Aprox at 11pm my neighbors call us and said that my truck was on fire. The fire department said that this started aprox from the engine part.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that two of the rear exhaust manifold bolts sheared off on both sides of the engine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that the bolts had to be drilled out in order to be replaced.the manufacturer and dealer were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 98,000.the dealers explanation was an aluminum head versus a cast iron exhaust manifold versus case hardened bolts all expanded and contracted together, which cause a poor design. The engine has coolant leak at head. Gm is aware that the engines were made with faulty heads by a company called castec that are prone to failure in the oil return ports. They have a bulletin but are unwilling to assume any responsibility. This repair is so costly that a complete engine replacement is more feasible. The average time of this repair seems to be only 100,000 miles.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the temperature gauge indicator increased displaying that the engine had overheated. In addition, the oil pressure gauge was low. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that both cylinder heads in the engine had cracked and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 102,000...updated 10/21/15 updated 3/21/16
Was driving to work when my truck read "reduced engine power", luckily i was pulling into the parking lot of my job! today i'm in a whole other city and it just happened again so i'm stranded!
2005 chevy tahoe... Manufacturers defect in the cam shaft, rocker arm, and lobe.leading to a knocking noise.gm will not stand by their product and replace the engine parts!

Poor quality electrical to exterior lamps (brakes/signals/headlights) causes them to go out even when the bulb is still good.have replaced bulbs in excess of "normal".safety concern regarding assumption that all lamps are working (especially when recently replaced) only to find out through law enforcement or other motorists that one or multiple lamps are not functioning.event has occurred multiple times and without warning.incidental observation of vehicles of similar make/model on the road indicate this is a common problem.also, conversations with auto parts stores indicate this is a common problem with this vehicle type.remedied by replacing bulbs and/or re-seating bulb in socket.
The 3rd brake light is an led type and is inoperable. I have noticed that a number of same style chevy tahoes have the same problem.nothing has been done at this point to rectify the problem.
Shift indicator does not illuminate.called dealership in reference to the 05v055000 recall that i assumed was applicable to all tahoes with the same problem.service tech inicated that my vin was not part of the recall.seems that the recall should be expanded to include all of the same vehicles since the problem seems to affect the all.
Shift lever position indicator in the instrument panel cluster does not illuminate and driver does not know which gear vehicle is in.
The oil gauge on my 2005 chevrolet tahoe was replaced on april 6, 2011. The needle was as far over on the right side of the gauge (looking at it) as it could go. It clearly was not reading the amount of oil pressure.the entire dash panel had to be replaced to correct this problem after it was determined there were no bad connections to the unit.the dash part was $350.00.
Fuel sending unit not functioning on 2005 chevrolet tahoe. Spoke with my mechanic who stated it was a very common problem with chevrolet tahoe. The sending unit made it so the gas did not register on the fuel gauge making it likely to run out of gas at an inopportune time, possibly creating a traffic hazard or crash.
Every time i start my vehicle, my gas light goes on and indicates i am low on fuel when i have gas in it. After driving for awhile the needle will go up but it is not giving an accurate reading of how much gas is in the tank.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that as he refueled the vehicle, gasoline began spewing from the filler neck preventing him from refueling.the vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed for the failure. The manufacturer was contacted who stated that it would be at the discretion of the dealer if they wanted to cover the costs of repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 65,000.
Fuel line rusted out.
While driving, the gas pedal stuck in the down position causing car to sped up. It then slowed down. Upon inspection by mechanic, it was found that a spring on the gas pedal had become dislodged. One end of the spring is straight (like an opened paper clip) the straight part had stuck into the carpet and then slowly eased out. The mechanic was able to recreate the situation. Because of this, my wife was issued a summons which is still pending. E-mails to general motors have gone unanswered.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. I own a 2005 chevy tahoe i bought new. Last year in 2012 the fuel lines coming out of the fuel pump rotted out and i had to replace the whole pump. Early this year (2013) the transmission lines rotted out and all had to be replaced, in september this year (2013) the brake lines rotted out and had to be replaced. Lucky for me i was just leaving my driveway. I am very disappointed with this gm vehicle. I don't know if i would ever buy a gm vehicle again.
Fuel gauge on 2005 chevrolet tahoe does not accurately report fuel level.
This complaint is for a 2005 mastercraft x-2 boat not a chevy tahoe.there is no option to choose boat manufacturers on this website.chevy makes the indymar 350 on this boat and is the closest option representing this boat available.the events leading up to the failure are either running the gas tank down to 1/4 tank full or running the gas tank empty.the failure can occur upon the first instance of running the tank to 1/4 full as i have documented proof of a boat owner with 3 hours on his boat have a failure.to correct the failure boat owners have to pay $500 for the same poorly designed pumped which is subject to failure and stranding the boat owner once again in open water at unexpected times (often at the end of their boating day which is dangerous because it is usually dark or beginning to become dark).unless of course it is within 2 years of purchasing a new boat in which case your still stranded but the dealer warranties the pump work installing another faulty fuel pump.here is a forum where the issues can be discussed and specific reports reviewed.http://www.mastercraft.com/teamtalk/showthread.php?t=25783&highlight=fuel+pumpto further explain the safety issues involved, atleast two documented owners on this forum have tried to fix this issue on their own coming up with their own solutions.this could be very dangerous and result in out of tank pumps/home style fixes to this plagued fuel system.
The incident is the vehicle stalling on the interstate which could have lead to a accident if the vehicle behind me had not swirved at the last moment.the fuel guage registerd 3/4 tank of gas.once stopped at the next exit i was able to put 25 gallons in the tank.i have since noticed that the guage will read sporatic readings but then settle back to around the 3/4 tank mark.
2005 tahoe-due to faulty purge canister solenoid (evap) cannot put gas in vehicle due to the air has nowhere to escape while filling. Gas spurts back out of fuel neck causing potential safety and environmental hazard. Gm has a new redesigned part but does not replace or repair at their cost. Consumer is getting charged and required pay for their acknowledged problems.
Fuel gauge is never accurate.sometimes it takes 15 minutes after driving for fuel to register on gauge.they light usually stays on even when i have gas???
Dt:the fuel pump quit pumping gas, the wiring got hot on it and it started smoking. Tooke vehicle to the dealer, they saidfuel pump was badand wiring overheated.they replaced the pump, and the wiring. This happened on august 3, 2005.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the fuel gauge system inaccurately displayed the amount of fuel that's present in the fuel tank. This conditions caused him to either over or under fuel the fuel tank. No repairs were made. The manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 30,000. Thecurrent mileage was 46,806.
Tighten fuel cap warning started coming on and now having issues with refueling. Gas pump shuts off constantly while trying to refuel and gas spews out all over, takes forever justto manage to pump 10.00 worth of gas in it, very frustrating to say the least along with money wasted from fuel shooting out while trying to pump gas. Seems like gm would have a recall on this issue as from doing research thereare many others with this same problem !!!!
The fuel line rusted through where it exits the gas tank causing fuel to leak all over the top of the gas tank.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. When the fuel tank was filled up, the tank exploded and splashed fuel all over the contact. The contact's vehicle also vibrated while driving at any speed and the abs warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic (dns auto repair, sebastian, fl) where several failure codes were diagnosed. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic (tire kingdom, sebastian, florida) where it was diagnosed that the tires needed to be replaced. The tires were replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 123,250.
Very bad fuel leak on top of gas tank gas pouring all over the tank
The contact stated that the failure occurred each time the vehicle was fueled. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 122,836.
Fuel back flows out the gas tank on the ground no matter the fuel level. Fuel willdump onto the ground at varying degrees. Multiple reports by the forums. I will be submitting this link so others can post to prove this is not a one time thing
Own a 2005 chevy tahoe, the rear liftgate and window will not open using the unlock on the door or depressing the key fob.has worked without a problem and all of a sudden quit today.we checked all of the fuses and then began searching on the internet. Have read similar problems and am assuming it is an internal part.however, there is no way to open the door from the outside or inside manually.i often carry my daughter and up to 5 other girl scouts.in case of an accident, there is no way to exit the vehicle from the rear.this is a safety issue and should be addressed by chevy.don't know if new versions have a manual unlock, but is a hazard for those models that don't.
We have a 2005 chevy tahoe and we recently encountered a problem - the liftgate will not unlock.we discovered that is no manual key entry and there is no internal unlock system.this is a major safety issue :repeat:there is no internal unlock system which is a huge safety issue in the event of an emergency exit needed - especially with the third seat installed.the only way to unlock the liftgate is via remote key - but the lock does not respond to the remote key so the liftgate cannot open.there are tremendous amounts of complaints posted on the internet forums and we can not believe that there is no recall on this horribly unsafe situation - not to mention equipment failure.what is being done about it?thank you.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the contact stated that she attempted to open the rear lift gate using the key fob but the lift gate would not open.she then attempted to open the rear lift gate by depressing the manual button which controls it from inside the vehicle but to no avail. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they were in the process of diagnosing the failure.the contact was awaiting repairs. The failure and current mileage was 98,400.
We own a 2005 chevy tahoe. Rear hatch lock actuator assembly failed, causing the rear door to be stuck in the locked and closed position. There is no manual release from the inside, nor a manual keyhole to unlock from the outside, which poses a safety hazard. Current and failure mileage 89,160. Vehicle was taken to dealer who charged $626 to replace assembly.
I had noticed that on my 2005 chevy tahoei was not able to open the tailgate it seemed to be locked, i tried to unlock it manually and it would not unlock from driver door when you hit to unlock everything manually.i also cannot push the button and open the glass manually either.nor can i open it from crawling inside the truck to try to push the tailgate open.so if there was a accident there seems to be no way of getting out through the back entrance which is scary.i have tried multiple times to open it and it will not open, i cannot for any reason use the back tailgate anymore which i find a inconvenience and was one of the reasons i bought the truck in the first place.
2005 chevy tahoe tailgate locking mechanism fails-unable to lock or unlock tailgate using fob or power lock button, could pose safety problem in event of accident.
The lift gate on my chevy tahoe will not open.i was washing g my truck and went to open theback and it would not budge.i called chevy and they said the locking mechanism would have to be replaced.if my children and i were in an accident and we couldn't get out the front we would not be able to get out the back either.there is not a manual override.
The molding for the hinges on the rear glass hatch starting cracking. Hinges broke when opening the rear hatch glass fell half way out almost hitting me, didn't brake. My back glass will not operate properly and im having to cover it with a tarp so rain doesn't get inside. Nothing permanent has been done yet.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the rear liftgate would not release when attempting to access with the automatic door lock or key fob. Dt: on august 19 2005 the owner was told by a friend thatthe emergency brake was worn out.the owner checked the emergency brake and it was worn. There was no indication that the emergency brake was worn. Owner has never used the emergency brake. The owner got in the vehicle and set the emergencybrake, then the truck rolled forward as if there was no emergency brake. There were no other problems with the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated when attempting to shift in reverse, the vehicle moved forward due to the gear illumination panel not illuminating properly. The failure occurred frequently. The vehicle was not taken the dealer for diagnosis or repair. The contact was aware of nhtsa campaign number: 05v055000 (power train) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.
Approximately 1 year ago the gear shift indicator began to be dimmer than the other dash displays.the dealership said nothing was wrong.since then it is now no longer visible and it is not possible to visually determine what gear the vehicle is in. I have been told that it is not covered under gm recall 05023 (nhtsa 05v055000).
After attending my nephew's high school basket ball game, my daughter and i returned to the tahoe in the school parking lot. I started the vehicle and put the transmission into drive and started to roll when the brake pedal went to the floor. I engaged the emergency brake to stop and thankfully stopped the tahoe before hitting anyone or any other vehicle in the lot. Looking at the owners manual and the dash lights, i realized the vehicle needed to be towed. The mechanic informed me the brake line running along the frame rail to the rear was corroded and needed replacing. After completing this task and while bleeding the system a front line went for the same reason, corrosion. I had all lines (front & back) replaced at a cost of over $800. Talking with the mechanic, it appears to be a common occurrence in the tahoe, silverado and similar gm vehicles.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the gear shift indicator was inoperable which made it difficlut to distinguish which gear the vehicle was shifted to. The vehicle was taken to hall chevrolet chesapeake (3412 western branch blvd, chesapeake, va 23321) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the instrument cluster needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 05v055000 (power train). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number: the failure mileage was approximately 141,000.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact started the vehicle and shifted the gear lever however, the gear lever position indicator failed to illuminate. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 05v055000 (power train). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated while traveling at an unknown speed the gear shift indicator light failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was confirmed that the instrument cluster had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v055000 (power train:manual transmission:shift pattern indicator). The failure and current mileage was unavailable.
Truck shifts into 4 low and stability control shuts off for no apparent reason. Dangerous at the least. Heard of many cases of the same issue. Replaced switch ,still has issue.
Have had mystery coolant leak for some time and after months of losing antifreeze i find out that it is very likely that i have a cracked head due to poor casting. A problem that general motors is fully aware of. I think that the manufacturer should have issued a recall long ago to remedy this problem.
While driving on the freeway, vehicle lost acceleration although gas pedal was engaged.when i released my foot from the pedal, the gear engaged and vehicle continued for a short time before repeating same symptom.vehicle did not fix itself.safely coasted to shoulder of freeway.put vehicle in park.let it sit a moment and shifted back to drive.was able to get vehicle off freeway and to safe location, but it continued to slip from gear.it finally stuck in 1st gear and would not shift up.
The shift lever position indicator located in the instrument panel cluster does not illuminate at various times. This has happened on and off for a while and i decided to research the issue.i found a similar recall for this model year vehicle on your website, but gm refuses to cover the defect on my vin. I recently almost hit someone being in the wrong gear.this matches a previous recall id of05v055000.
I have a 2005 chevy tahoe, that has over 100,000 miles.i first noticed a problem a few months ago when i was driving and it would seem like the pedal would stick a little bit, but i didn't think anything odd about that. (because i thought maybe might foot wasn't accelerating properly)the day before thanksgiving without warning i was on the highway driving around 65 mph and thevehicle started to drag horribly.i immediately exited the highway and pulled into a gas station to check my transmission fluid, which was full.i took the vehicle to aamco, they placed it on the machine and everything came back fine, however, when the mechanic drove the vehicle he determined it was stuck in 3rd gear.the vehicle repairs total @ $1800.00 which i don't have especially around the holiday's. The vehicle is now sitting in my garage because i cannot afford to pay for it.i purchased this vehicle when i lived in georgia in 10/2006, it had 55,000 miles on it at the time with no visible abuse.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.the contact stated while driving at 60 mph, there was a sudden increase in engine rpms and the vehicle failed to slow down. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that coolant was leaking into the transmission.the manufacturer was made aware of the issue.the failure mileage was 117,000.
Dt: the contact statedtransmissionmalfunctioned.while drivingthe wheels intermittently locked. The dealer rebuilt the transmission to try and correct the problem.this did not completely correct the problem.currently, the vehicle will still slip from drive to neutral without manually being changed.the dealer could not duplicate this specific problem.
My 2005 leased chevy tahoe had approximately 49,000 miles on it when the transmission failed.there was no forewarning.the car performed normally right up to the minute the transmission let go.i was driving 45 mph when a gear exploded and the car was left with only first and third gear.the car was brought to a dealer and gm refused to cover the repair because we had not taken their extended warranty.i was furious because after inspecting the torn down transmission, it was obvious that there was no abuse to the vehicle and that the gear had shattered inside the housing (i have pictures of the inside of the transmission).i first called the gm service 1800 number and they refused to pay for anything.after a week of speaking to agents and supervisors, i was given the name of the local chevy dealer district manager.i contacted him and after investigating, he offered to pay half the cost (total cost estimated to be $3200).i let the car sit at the dealership for 21 days while i fought with these people.finally, they agreed to pay for everything but the dealership labor.they also said they would guarantee the rebuilt transmission they were installing for another 100,000 miles - that was of no concern to me since it is a leased vehicle i will be getting rid of as soon as possible!i paid approximately $450 for the repairs and picked up my vehicle after 28 days.it seems to me that if you are willing to stick to your argument and have the ability to leave your vehicle sitting in the dealership repair shop, you can bargain because they know deep down it is a defective part and should last longer on a $38,000 vehicle.if i wasn't 8 months pregnant at the time, i would have let the vehicle sit there until they paid for everything.ps - it was a boy!!
2005 chevrolet tahoe developed a problem with pulling hard.***no answer required***. *mrthe dealer stated there was no problem with the vehicle after putting it on a machine. The consumer stated the vehicle jerked violently. The dealer found an update for the pcm.
Dt*: the consumer stated the problem began as a cracking sound while turning the wheel in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the dealership and an adjustment to the control arm was made. One month later, the problem still persisted. On december 29, 2005 the cracking sound was heard again, the vehicle stopped and the throttle would not depress. The vehicle would not gain momentum in either of the gears. The dealership determined the failure was with the differential unit, they noticed either the drive train or the axle was damaged. A heavy duty removal unit was used to remove and replace the axle and differential unit. The vehicle was picked up from the dealership yesterday and on january 12, 2006 the cracking noise was heard again.

Intermittent 4wd indicator light and failure to engage.
I have a 2005 chevy tahoe, which recently i have been having many problems,i was wondering if there any recall notices for this vehicle...service air bag light is on...abs light is on...seat belts on middle section does not work correctly,it gets stuck many times...steering sometimes gets stiff.
Seatbelts continue to tighten when in use and fail to fully retract. All seatbelt and even on short five minute trips. Tightens so it impedes breathing.
We own a 2005 chevy trail blazer.our 11-year old son fell asleep and lay down with shoulder-harnessed seat belt on in the back seat - passenger side.upon arriving at our destination he was awakened.at this point he sat up, released the latch, an tried to get out.the seat belt was twisted around his waist and as he tried to untangle the belt the ratchet got significantly tighter.when i realized the problem developing and got around to him the belt was so tight that i could not untangle him or slip him through the loop.he was in severe pain.he had either turned in his seat, or sat up on the wrong side of the shoulder strap, or something else.not wanting any injury to my son's back or any internal organs i had to cut the belt.it was about 12:30 am.i have since been told that for shoulder harnessed belts, when the shoulder strap is pulled all the way out as for use with child safety seats this engages the ratcheting mechanism.i believe that there needs to be a "release button" for emergency use on the back of the column which houses the shoulder strap.since the brakes were not engaged i did not understand why the shoulder strap would not loosen.
Rear seats lock in position and are difficult to let down and difficult to put up.this is a safety hazard in that the seats are not locking properly and rear seat passengers are endangered in the event of a crash.i am speaking of the second row of seats and not the third row.
'tahoe recalls'front seat belts do not retract fully
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the front driver's side heated seat was activated when it short circuited and caused a small spark to ignite under the seat. There were no visible flames and the contact was not injured.the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 113,000.
The heating element located on the back of the passenger seat burned through the shirt and burned the skin. The skin was red and now there is a scab. This will definitely leave a scar.i did not see any recalls in the database for the heating elements in tahoes (2005). Thanks,[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
2005 chevrolet tahoe burned in my garage overnight. Fire department said that seat warmer was source of fire. Seat warmers have not been in use since last winter. The car was completely off and keys were not in the ignition. Vehicle was determined to be a total loss. My garage incurred significant smoke damage. Luckily the fire burned out due to lack of oxygen because were closed.
The clips to install the seat crumbled. Therefore, you cannot lock the seats in its place.
I own a 2005 chevy tahoe i bought new. Last year in 2012 the fuel lines coming out of the fuel pump rotted out and i had to replace the whole pump. Driving to help my daughter after she slid on icy road into ditch christmas morning, i hit the same patch of ice, when i stepped on the brakes it went to the floor. Took to repair shop they said the front bake line was rusted through and all the others were just as bad. Said they all should be replaced at a cost of $1700
Total brake system failure due to rusted brake line.brake pedal went completely to the floor during operation and vehicle luckily came to a stop when pedal was ground into the floorboard.brake fluid was dripping from the line directly underneath the driver's side door.vehicle was towed to a local garage and is awaiting an estimate for repairs.
Brake line failure.
Just after coming off of a major highway, slowing down as i was approaching a set of lights, the brake pedal lost pressure, and went to the floor on my 2005 chevy tahoe. The rotors, pads and calipers had just been replaced 6mths prior,so i knew they were not the problem. I figured either the master cylinder went, or something was wrong with the brake lines. The service brake system and brake light were on. I was able to use the parking brake and downshift the transmission to come to a stop. Turns out,one of the brake lines rotted out at the rear, causing the fluid to leak out,and the loss of my brakes. Luckily i did not get into an accident.vehicle is only 8yrs old, with just turning 100000 mi. In my opinion, this should not be happening this soon.
Brake line blew while driving my 2005 z71 chevy tahoe. Had no clue until i tried to stop and my pedal went all the way to the floor not stopping my truck and i ran a red light. Thank-god i hit no other car or person! there was no warning - no lights - nothing indicating this was going to happen, not even a little drip of brake fluid before the burst line. I take my truck in for it's free oil changes every 5000 miles. Dealership tells me every time all the things that need repair or will need attention soon. After getting under my truck and looking at my brake lines, i was so scared! holly crap they are nothing but rust. This didn't happen over night. Why does the dealership tell me i need new windshield wipers or belts - (3 years later i still have the same belts and they are still fine) but neglect to tell me my brake lines are severely rusted and could blow at anytime resulting in brake loss! that should be discussed with me before my windshield wipers!!!!! the mechanic at the dealership had to know my brakes lines were this bad - why was nothing said???now looking online i see i am not the first person this has happened to nor will i be the last. I cannot believe that gm considers this to be normal wear and tear. It's dangerous and could kill someone. Gm is not concerned about our safety - it's about the money for gm. Settlements are cheaper than a total recall - that's until deaths do occur and i bet my life on it a death will happen because of these bad brakes lines.
I purchased this vehicle and was told the recalls was up to date, my concern is mostly when i sometimes hit the brakes i hear a humming sound. Not sure if it was due to a faulty recall or not.
Lost brakes getting off interstate 20/59,seems to be a corrosion issue on the brake line going to rear axle.the location of the leak relative to the body is at the 2 l door along the frame rail.
My wife was driving our 2005 chevy tahoe when she lost the brakes. She said the pedal went to the floor. She was not in any traffic but the car did not stop very quickly. I then drove the car very carefully to our local service station about 2 miles away. The mechanic found that one of our rear bake lines had rusted through causing all hydraulic fluid to be lost. The rear brakes had completely failed. After looking under the vehicle with the mechanic, he showed me all the rust under this car. He also pointed out that the other brake line were also very rusted and could fail. I replaced both rear brake lines with material that will not rust. It was a very labor intensive job and also very costly. Please let other people that own this type of vehicle to check their brake lines. This could have been a very serious situation if my wife had been traveling fast on a highway. The car only has 53k miles and has been garaged for many years. Itamazing at how much rust is on this vehicle. I hope gm will use material that does not rust in future automobiles like this!!!
Steering wheel locks on his own, brake engages for no reason electrical system off
Brake line to rear ruptured causing brake fluid to leak out.could not drive vehicle without brakes.had it towed to chevrolet dealer for repair.repair cost was in excess of $1,300.
I have a 2005 chevy tahoe, which recently i have been having many problems,i was wondering if there any recall notices for this vehicle...service air bag light is on...abs light is on...seat belts on middle section does not work correctly,it gets stuck many times...steering sometimes gets stiff.
Mechanic informed me that my fuel and brake lines need to be replaced due to the fact that they are totally corroded.
When i was getting ready to back out of my driveway and pressed the brake to put the car into gear the brake felt loose. As i got the to bottom of my short driveway i pushed my foot on the brake and the pedal went to the floor luckily i was able to stop. I brought the truck into the be looked at and they advised me that my break line had been rusted through. I bought this vehicle 1 month and 10 days ago. I then did a search online and found that this is a pretty common problem and that there is even a repair kit; however, there hasn't been a recall so now the cost is on me to fix. 365.00 per month car payment and now near 1500 dollar car repair.
When vehicle was in for service a stainless steel brake line failed resulting in a loss of fluid and brakes. I was told all the lines, where they contacted the frame, had corroded. These lines should not fail due to age of vehicle. Also dealer reported that they are seeing this quite a bit in chevy trucks. This would have been catastrophic if it happened on the open road. Only by chance did it occur when vehicle was in for other service. A gm agent is supposed to be inspecting the vehicle on april 7, 20014.
Noticed noise in my power steering on inspection found to be low on fluid finley found leak at break system. On research found this to be a problum on many chevy autos and trucks from 2003 to 2006 those are the ones i found
After attending my nephew's high school basket ball game, my daughter and i returned to the tahoe in the school parking lot.
2005 chevy. Tahoe 3rd brake light(led panel) $300.00 replacement value!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the brake fluid lines were corroded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brake hose needed to be replaced. The failure was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000. Updated 12/15/14.updated 12/18/14updated 02/24/15. The vehicle was repaired.updated 9/25/15
My wife was operating our tahoe and felt the brakes seemed "funny" we proceeded onto the freeway for 40 miles, upon getting off the brake pedal was laws went to leave our destination and all the lights came on in the car brake system service, traction disabled fluid reservoir was empty took it to mechanic who said the brake lines were "rotted to pieces" i put it into the shop and had the rear lines replaced at a cost of $506.00. The mechanic stated the fronts will also need to be done. I feel the age of the vehicle does not match up to the rot involved on the brake lines it is a safety concern as well as an expensive repair.
Abs and tc light came on. Checked at shop and was told the speed sensor was bad, brakes were fine, but no abs. Traveling down highway, and vehicle started making a lot of noise (metal on metal, etc). Had car towed, and the hub was bad. Was told we were lucky the wheel did not come off. Had to replace hub assembly and brake pads.
Brakes failed due to rust in the brake lines causing them to rupture without any warning while vehicle was in motion.luckily accident was avoided due to low speed on a residential road. Young children were traveling in the vehicle. All brake fluids were immediately lost and brake pedal dropped all the way to the floor and did not slow vehicle at all. Dash warning lights did not give any forewarning! vehicle is only 7 years old.
Total brake failure in a 2005 chevy tahoe due to rusted brake lines only 48,000 miles.

I a 2005 chevy tahoe that has the 3rd steering ball joint mid shaft broken again. I had thelast two repairs done and needs it again, this is a very known problem with these model vehicles and was told by the dealer that general motors is not going to do anything, i was told to deal with it. The fact is that this is a distraction to the driver when driving and in worry if the steering will become disabled when driving. This concern needs to be reviewed before an accident does happen. At this time the problem is only a distraction and feels unsafe when driving, but this needs to be investigated before an injury or death occurs for this common complaint by many chevy tahoe, sub, truck owners.
2005 chevrolet tahoe z71. Upon turning, could hear and feel in steering column a popping type noise/feel. Took it for service, and it was determined the intermediate steering shaft was broke.part replaced under warranty.
Power steering hose leaking on engine.
Abnormal noise of rattling, crackling, and clucking in steering column whenmaking left turn or slightly turning steering wheel to left also driving vehicleat 15 mph or higher speed knocking noise consistent in steering column. My vehicle was serviced twice at mileage 24,757, and in 2007 mileage 41,309by the dealer and repaired with new lubrication kit was installed into the intermediate shaft at no cost to me due to warranty coverage. However, my 2005 tahoe has had the continuing problem throughout my sole ownership. Currentmileage is at 116,000, on going defects as such is a manufacture defect, i will have to repair again with out of pocket cost average from $125.00 to $300.00.
Noticed noise in my power steering on inspection found to be low on fluid finley found leak at break system. On research found this to be a problum on many chevy autos and trucks from 2003 to 2006 those are the ones i found
Was driving south on highway 77 when my tahoe starting to bounce on the front end then starting fish tailing from white line to white line tried to correct and had no steering. Then went off the right side of road and hit a driveway and flipped end over end then back over headed in the opposite way. There was a person watching the accident happened and he stated that the truck was bouncing going down the road then went out of control and flipped. Had tahoe serviced in march for a popping noise at richard kay superstore in anderson south carolina where they stated they fixed the problem. Stated was a steering shaft. They replaced it. Callaway wrecker service stated that there was a problem in the front end that was very suspicious. With one of the wheels and where was connected to the frame. This would have been where the bouncing came from where the tire was turned sideways .
Check engine light won't go off. Not able to see gear panel prnd321. Right turning signal doesn't work sometimes or make high beams come on when it comes on.
Clunk noise and feel in steering wheel became worse after about 2 months then took to the dealerit was the steering i-shaft part number 19153614my 2005 tahoe had 40331 miles at time of repaircost to me was 113.88i feel i should not be charged for this repair because it is a known problem to chevrolet.
We've put 21,000 miles on these tires in 3 years and have tire rumbles, vibration while driving and side wall is cracking and flaking away. Brought to the dealer where we got the tires from and they have no idea what's causing it. Seems to me that several people are having this issue. There needs to be a recall for these tires before someone gets hurt while driving.
While the vehicle was still under factory warranty it was serviced at a gm dealership for rattling noise in the steering. They said they had to apply grease to the steering shaft because the grease shifted down. This identical noise started again and was brought back to same dealership around a year later. The factory warr. Is up but we have 3rd party ext warr. They changed the steering shaft and bearing this time and my deductible is 100.00 dollars. I asked the shop why this was not done on the first visit and they told me the parts were not avail. At that time and about 1,500,000 of this type had the rattling problem until gm came out with this revised shaft and bearing to keep the grease in. This is a factory defect and should have been addressed and changed by gm.
The vehicle we currently own and two previous vehicles we have owned all have had the same problem in the front end. It is a known problem that chevrolet tahoes have and although is has not caused an accident or injury it does pose a problem and chevrolet will not issue a recall. A steering shaft must be replacedand the cost for the part alone is over $ 80.00 plus labor to install. The first vehicle we had we spent between $ 500.00 to $ 600.00 before the problem was found. The second vehicle we spent i believe around $ 150.00 and the current vehicle will be the same. The chevrolet part # is 19153614. At one point in talking with a chevrolet dealership they had mentioned that this ws a known problem but nothing chevrolet considered to be "serious", therefore i have to put up with the noise and uncomfortable drive unless i want to pay out of pocket myself.i do not feel a vehicle with under 50,000 miles should have issues such as these for an extended amount of multiple years .
'tahoe recalls'front seat belts do not retract fully
2005 tahoe intermediate steering shaft began to rattle at 20,000 miles. Dealer repair was to "grease intermediate shaft". This remedied the problem for another 30,000 miles. When i spoke to dealer about problem (out of warranty) they explained that it "wasn't a safety problem, just irritating rattle because grease had worked its way out of shaft again." the fix? replace shaft with new composite shaft. Cost: $240.00. Then i was informed that gm knew of this problem for several years (even before previous repair) but did not replace the shaft under warranty, simply applied new grease to defective shaft. Gm waits until warranty expires to advise you to replace shaft-at your expense. I hope this problem is fixed now, but shame on gm for this manner of business. And gm can't figure out why consumers don't return to them?
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact was driving 30 mph when the steering wheel seized. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and an independent mechanic for diagnosis however no reason for the failure was determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the incident. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.
I have a 2005 chevrolet tahoe with a problem with the steering shaft. It was repaired under warranty on 03/01/06 with 20,385 miles at our local chevrolet dealership. The dealers remedy was : "e7700 shaft, steering intermediate replace". The remedy lasted only about two years before the banging noise when turning returned. It now is accompanies with a loose sounding banging noise when on bumpy roads. The problem has increased in severity over time.i have a 2003 chevrolet pickup, and am experiencing a similar situation, although not as severe as with my tahoe.this appears to be a persistent problem with gm, and poses a safety issue as other customers have described steering lockdown associated with this issue.
Steering wheel locks on his own, brake engages for no reason electrical system off
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that when turning, there was an abnormal noise coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering shaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 105 and the current mileage was 65,000.
I have a 2005 chevy tahoe, which recently i have been having many problems,i was wondering if there any recall notices for this vehicle...service air bag light is on...abs light is on...seat belts on middle section does not work correctly,it gets stuck many times...steering sometimes gets stiff.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the lift gate failed. As a result, whenever the contact attempted to open the lift gate it would not lock in place. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who decided to grease the latch and the lift gate finally locked. The failure recurred and the vehicle was not repaired again. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included on any recalls. The failure mileage was 94,000. Updated 10/24/12updated 11/08/2012
Tailgate and rear window will not lock.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the rear liftgate could not be opened electronically or manually. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised that the door latch failed due to defective material. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 80,806.
Rear bumper (inside and out) has severe rusting.at first paint bubbled then rusting set in few months later.i called gm and they refused to repair. A 7 year old car should not have this severe rusting.the bumper looks as if belongs to a vintage 30 year old car!just not right and even more so that gm is not taking responsibility for something that seems to be a manufacturer defect!
The hatch back, both the glass and the whole tail gate, worked fine until two days ago and now neither one will open. I think this is a huge safety concern. I have kids that ride in the 3rd row seats, and if something was to happen to the front of the vehicle or other doors, my kids would have no way to get out of the back!!
We purchased our 2005 tahoe brand new and have kept up with regular maintenance and it has been a great, safe car. For christmas we were out of town visiting family and when we arrived to unload the car, we discovered the lift gate and the glass were stuck in the lock position. We could not get either open to load|unload our luggage and|or gifts. There is no manual key hole in the button, which i find odd that some models of the same year has them and some don?t. I am concerned that since i have a 3rd row of seats, and in my eyes with passengers in the back ? they cannot get out if there is an emergency. To me, a recall should be issued for the safety of the individuals who ride in the vehicle and gm should take ownership regardless of warranty or not.
Rear hatch unlocked but will not open with latch!
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the rear liftgate glass window became loose. The dealer was notified of the failurewho stated that there were no recalls for the failure and offered no assistance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 125,000.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. While parked, the rear liftgate failed. The contact stated that the power locks were activated and the rear liftgate still failed to operate. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 74,500.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. The contact stated that the rear lift gate failed to remain open. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 147,000. The vin was unavailable.
2005 chevy tahoe tailgate locking mechanism fails-unable to lock or unlock tailgate using fob or power lock button, could pose safety problem in event of accident.
The rear tailgate lock stopped functioning which prevents the rear window or the tailgate to be opened. There is not a manual way to open the tailgate or window from the inside either.
There was no accident at this time.we notice rusting on the frame and after further inspection we found large holes in the frame rails.this vehicle is no longer safe to drive.we still have a loan on it and don't understand how a 8 year old vehicle can have that much rust on the frame with such low mileage(49,254).there has to be more out there with this problem.not sure where to go from here.

Factory installed hitch receiver is severely twisted. The issue has developed over the past 4 years but with very infrequent use. If the vehicle had done a lot of heavy towing this unit would have failed for sure. This could have caused a very serious accident if the failure were to have become catastrophic. I have come to discover that this is a common problem encountered by the majority of those who have used the vehicle for any intermediate towing.
I am the original owner of a 2005 chevrolet tahoe with all original equipment. The vehicle standard equipment includes a tire pressure monitoring system (tpms). The problem i have is that all five (spare tire) tire valve stem caps have seized on the valve stem which prevents adding air to the tires. The problem is due to corrosion between the contacting surfaces only of the valve stem and valve stem cap. The corrosion is due to the reaction between the dissimilar metals of the valve stem cap and valve stem. This can cause a safety issue if you have low tire pressure and cannot add air to the tire. Not to mention that the repair is significant as the tpms sensor must be replaced. The valve stem and valve stem cap are the original parts that came on the new car. I took my car to the chevrolet dealer and they were not able to remove the valve stem caps without breaking the valve stems. I a person needs to add air to the tire they will likely end up breaking the valve stem.
My tpms are extremly corroded and they snapped off!!!!
For two years, the traction active warning goes on and slows down acceleration of the vehicle. It happens on a daily basis.when i am at a complete stop and then try to accelerate, the car will not accelerate normally.this is an extremely dangerous situation.i have taken the car to chevy dealerships twice for this and they say they can't "replicate' the situation.chevrolet knows of this problem and has not issues a recall.
Rear lift gate would not unlock via remote or manual key.from the interior, there is no manual override or emergency release to manually open the lift gate door or window.in the event of an accident, escaping from a vehicle that was damaged, overturned or on fire via the rear door would not be possible due to the lack of an emergency rear lift gate release.in my case, i had secured my pet in a pet crate in the rear of the vehicle on a 77 degree day.i could not get him out the rear access, unable to open same by any means.fortunately i had time and crawled in the back, turned the crate around, folded down rear seats, and removed 100 lb labrador retriever out the second row door.there is a keyed lock blow the lift gate in the rear covered by a plastic door.the key turned and the whole lock cylinder came out.there is no information on this lock in the driver's manual of what it does or does not do. I am having this repaired immediately at my expense.i feel this is a serious safety issue that needs to be addressed by chevrolet/gm.i was lucky because it was not a life or death situation.
Vehicle states service air bag system
The light showing what gear you are in has gone out.it starts on then fades off.i looked up and found a recall - #05v055000 which is what is wrong with my car.when i called chevy - they said my vin shows no open recalls.this makes no sense to me being that i am having that exact problem and my year make and model show that as a recall?how can they pick and chose which cars were affected by the recall??
When i start my car start my car it says service sevilla track and service airbag with in conjunction with this happening my wiper blades don't work and my cruise control does not work as well i've also noticed this happening on my mom's 2000 chevy tahoe and on my previously owned 2001 gmc yukon i think it is across the board gm electrical problem
I was in the hospital truck sat for 2-3 days no one drove it. Woke my wife up at about 9 am on 02/08/2019 engulfed in flames burned truck to the ground . Firemen had to use jaws of life to get doors open burned completely up and i only had liability on it purchased it just 3 months ago from a used car lot. It caught a little bit of our house on fire newborn kept water on it till firemen arrived if not whole house would have burned wife said she heard a pop noise went outside truck was on fire
2005 chevrolet tahoe 60,000 miles.speedometer erratic for a few weeks and now shows anywhere from 30-120 mph sitting still.taking it to dealer today.on the phone they quoted me $450 to replace instrument cluster.no deal.on one website alone there were over 600 pages of complaints about this problem. Definite safety issue!!chevrolet does not fix this free of charge then this will be my last gm product ever.
The speedometer started jumping from 55 miles an hour 120 miles an hour while driving on the interstate. At a stopped position the speedometer goes back down to 50 miles an hour and stays there.
The tahoe was parked as usual and the speedometer is stuck in the 10mph when off and when at a stop. Dealer says it is a malfunction and it is not covered by them and the carge is $450+ to have it replaced! to me this is a huge safety concern, speed is never accurate. This is the 5th time this problem has occurred. Everytime i take it in to the dealer they tell me that nothing is wrong with the cluster. I was having the problem last night so i took it in this morning while it was malfunctioning so they could see it. The dealer wants me to pay them $115 for them to tell me that there was something wrong with it and that they will not cover it! i want to know how i can resolve this issue and have them replace it at no cost to me.
2005 cluster has stopped working and obviously this is not something new to anybody that owns a tahoe. Please recall!!!
I was at a red light and the car tried turning off and also i was on the highway and the car started slowing down. The dashboard lights have gone out on the radio and on the steeling wheel as well. I am very scared that this issue with the speed will cause me a fatal accident and i have two kids.
Stepped on gas pedal and it stuck causing acceleration. Eventually slowed down. Upon inspection by mechanic, it was found that a spring on gas pedal had become dislodged. One end of the spring is straight (like a pin) and it had stuck into the floor carpet, eventually releasing itself. This is a faulty design and very dangerous. Gm has been notified and the vehicle was inspected by chevrolet dealer but they will not do anything about it. This could get someone killed.
Drivers side windshield wiper came loose then froze and became inoperable on the windshield left edge during rainstorm cause was the nut which holds the wiper on the rotating shaft coming loose and may not have been tightened/ torqued properly at the factory.
Device, now reported by chevrolet dealership to be automatic climate control thermostat, located directly over driver's head in 2005 chevrolet tahoe continuously (while vehicle is running) emits 100+/- milligauss of electrical charge. My exposure to this during first week of my ownership of vehicle after my july 21, 2008, purchase caused me to have debilitating headaches and tinnitus; also, my memory seems to be less sharp than before exposure. Two chevrolet service departments and i identified the devices causing high radiation exposure to my head, and selling dealer disconnected thermostat;disconnecting thermostat results in front defroster, and all heat and air conditioning systems being rendered virtually uncontrollable. Originally selling dealer offered to relocate the thermostat away from my head, but dealer later retracted that offer. Chevrolet customer service looked into the issue of the thermostat emitting high level of radiation and reported to me the thermostat/device is performing according to specification and may not be relocated. With thermostat connected,i get debilitating headaches and tinnitus, the related long term physiological ramifications of which i do not know. If the thermostat is disconnected,my inability to control temperature and airflow inside the passenger compartment render the vehicle unsafe to drive under many weather conditions.postscript: it occurs to me that the radiation exposure from the tahoe thermostat seems many times higher than the radiation exposure associated with cell phone usage;and thethermostat radiation is emitted continually while driving. I am informed that for a short period of time several years ago, volvo offered for sale in europe,a retrofit package to ground out high radiation levels in its vehicles.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet tahoe.occasionally, the contact smelled a burning odor coming from the vehicle as if someone was smoking a cigar.the dealer stated that the blower resistor shorted and melted the connector.the contact believed that the burning occurred even when the switch was deactivated.he is in possession of the old parts.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 40,200 and failure mileage was 29,000.
While traveling down the highway the sunroof glass came off the roof and shattered.i have electrical problems with this automobile and i am now assuming it is related to this sun roof problem.i have found there was a recall at one time, but my vehicle was not repaired.what do i do?
1.driving during a minor snowstorm the windshield wipers on my 2005 chevrolet tahoe failed while driving at highway speed.2.i could not see clearly and had extreme difficulty navigating the roadway.3.as the vehicle was covered under warranty, i took it in for service at a local dealer.that dealer informed me that the wiper transmission was bad, though this would not be covered under warranty.i purchased a new wiper transmission and had it installed by my local mechanic, who informed me that the linkages are made of plastic and driving in inclement weather, such as snow, might cause failure.i feel this is a dangerous situation, whereby windshield wipers are supposed to operate in inclement weather, and if the underlying components are of inferior quality, it should be replaced by non-problematic materials.the servicing dealer claims that the failure was due to my not cleaning the area surrounding the wiper arms.but this is not correct, as i did clean this area.i should be able to operate this vehicle during a storm without having to pull off the highway to manually clean the wipers and surrounding areas.if the linkages are unable to handle snow at highway speeds, then they must be upgraded.
The contact owned a 2005 chevrolet tahoe. While driving approximately 50 mph, the rear driver side wheel became detached from the vehicle and caused the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The contact crashed into a wooden pole, which crashed through the front window. The vehicle flipped over three times and landed upside down. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained broken bones and injuries that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to the towing company. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.
"takata recall" about a month ago my truck (abs) started active itself and when driving it will act as if it's about to stop on its own and jerked to the left. Then shortly after it start making a loud noise then the noise gotten louder where others can hear it not only me. I had one of the wheels hub replace and it stop for a day and continue and now it's to the point where it's beginning to shake while driving, and ride different. I have three kids who i have to worry about.
Drove 2 miles to store nearby.parked vehicle went inside store.when leaving i was told i could not use this exit because of vehicle fire.fire investigator told me front left wheel bearing overheated causing bearing grease to act as accelerant causing total vehicle fire.vehicle completely engulfed within one and one half minutes.vehicle total loss.
While driving, my left front wheel suddenly began making a grinding noise.this continued to happen over a span of about 1 week before i sought a mechanic for repair.the day before my vehicle was scheduled for repair, the accident occurred.as i drove to work one morning on the local highway, the vehicle began to jerk to the left.i slowly drove, with emergency lights on, to the closest exit and suddenly my vehicle jerked to the left causing me to crash into the grassy area of the exit.my left front wheel was almost off the vehicle and it had to be towed for repair.
