My 2009 suburban has a crack in the dash right near the airbags.it is about 1 1/2" in length.i am worried that it will crack worse and cause my airbags to deploy when not necessary or fail to deploy when needed.

Parts distribution disconnect.

Dash around airbag is cracked along with above instrument cluster.it appears it is identical to all other dash cracks in both location and type on 07-13 tahoes/suburbans/avalanches.obliviously a manufacturing defect coupled with the takata recall could create an exploding dash with extra brittle shrapnel.

Passenger airbag sensor has been on for years, and i have been waiting for many years for this particular recall to be fixed! it is ridiculous that nothing is being done and people like me are forced to be driving their families around in such unsafe vehicles!!!!! i have filed multiple complaints, and have called the manufacturer multiple times, to get nowhere fast! why even have this system set up for recalls if you dont do anything about them???? it's sickening to think of someone having to fill this complaint out after the fact of injury or death to a love one- what's the point?

Cracks all over dash, around airbag

The discovery of the defect was on september 2012.there is a crack on the dash above the vehicles instrumentation i.e. Speedometer, oil pressure, gas level, etc.i reported to local gm dealership (henry brown chevrolet) about the defect and my concern for safety. They said there is no available safety recall for this problem.thinking that this was an isolated case i did not pursue the matter.then recently when i surfed the internet i came upon a group of gm vehicle owner with the same type of vehicle and the same type of issue.so i investigated further.going to different web blogs, i found more gm vehicle owners with the same problem.everybody have the same issue.they have cracked dash on their gm vehicles.some have the cracks on both side where the passenger airbag is.the danger is that this might puncture the airbag and render it ineffective. The main concern is safety because i don't want my vehicle to fail on me and my family.if for some reason water gets in the vehicles instrumentation and causes an electrical short, me and my family could be in danger of a vehicle accident.i am trying to be proactive and have this problem resolved rather than wait to be a victim of an unsafe vehicle or cause another driver to be in an avoidable accident.we need this vehicles recalled so that gm can take responsibility and fix an unsafe vehicle.

Takata recall i received a letter from gm sometime back that i would be contacted to schedule an appt to service my airbags at a local dealership. After waiting about 8 months i contacted a local dealer letting them know i had bad airbags still, they advised me i would need to wait for another letter to come in advising me of the necessary repairs they need to make. I haven't heard anything and it's been almost 2 yrs .

Takata recall-i have now called my local gm chevy dealer dealer monthly since the takata recall has come out and they have refused to replace the airbags.they site that they do not have any to replace them with. My response has been, i have 4 children that i drive daily and god forbid but if i were to get in an accident and the airbags deployed and we found out then that they were defective. It may be too late and the injuries sustained be life threatening. There is no reason we need should have to wait till something bad happens when this is a simple fix. I need my airbags replaced asap and need to know how to make this happen. I even received a letter in the mail that states contact your local dealership and schedule your free repair. This is absolutely asinine that my airbags have not been fixed within the last 18months since the recall. I need something done now.

Takata recall - i contacted legacy chevrolet which is my local dealer.she said me and everyone else has not had their airbags replaced because the dealer hasn't been sent any parts for anyone.suggested i call gm directly myself to ask why parts are not available.

Dash cracked and totally inploded. Loose parts everywhere. These parts fly everywhere when moving vehicle. Airbag loose and probally could implode without wrecking accident. Definately a hugh safety factor. Maybe nahta would like to drive my vehicle with couple top execs from gm over country roads and dodge loose scraphnel.05/07/2019

My 2009 suburban has multiple cracks in the dash that continue to get worse. I also have new cracks that go from the natural dash seam to the airbag cover/encasing on the passenger side. This presents the question: if the airbag needs to deploy, what happens if the broken dash punctures it and it doesn't perform at all -or- what if the cracked dash becomes shrapnel and harms the passengers? it was clearly an unfinished design since the underside of the dash is completely hollow, it flaps up and down once cracked. It's no wonder they have cracked all the way across, they have absolutely no support under there. These vehicles are made to tow, get through all sorts of weather and road conditions, and haul a large group. But the dash can't withstand it? problematic.

Owners are convinced that a cracked dashboard could compound the severity of a the vehicle dash is damaged i am stating that it could shatter into pieces upon airbag deployment and send shards of dashboard flying at both the driver and their passengers.the shards could also lacerate the airbags and render them useless.my dash has cracked and separated with no additional stress from vehicle occupants.this damage happens as the vehicle is parked the sun weakens the material, then as the vehicle is driven it creates stress cracks.moreover any dash related repair will further damage the dash. For example this is one of the reasons gm has been so resistant to a takata air bag recall knowing that it will likely require the entire dashboard to be replaced.

The airbag light will not turn off and there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.

Airbag light says check airbag

There is a crack in the dash right in the corner of where the airbag deploys. I am concerned that if the airbag deploys pieces ofm the dash may come off with it. Gm denies theres a problem and wont recall.

I have contacted 5 dealerships in my area inquiring about replacing the airbag. Only 1 responded to my inquiry, that one informed me that they have no idea when they will be able to replace the airbag.

Dash is cracked. Afraidbof splintering during airbag deployment.

I received a notification by mail that the front passenger airbag and that it needs to be replaced. I have not been contact per by the dealer to schedule a replacement/ repair as it seems parts are not available. This is almost 4 months after the recall notice.

Takata airbag recall.this recall was issued many years ago, it is now 2019 and i have not received any more information.why is no one making gm fix this problem.dodge/chrysler fixed theirs asap and sent many notices trying to get the vehicle fixed. Gm on the other hand is waiting for people to get killed.

Dash has continued to crack - over 4 cracks that has affected the defrost vent, dash and now i receive periodic airbag warnings upon starting ignition and/or parking.i am concerned as a driver, mother of 3 and caregiver of elderly mom that the air bags will deploy at anytime and/or not function correctly upon a crash or collision.

The door locks intermittently work. Seems to happen to a lot of people. Safety issue. Can't get in or out of vehicle. We had one fixed and now all of the doors are doing it. Sometimes the car locks itself.

Driving down a roadand shut off will not start aga

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet suburban. While the contact was reversing out of the driveway, the door locks began to lock and unlock independently. The failure stopped when the vehicle was placed into drive. After driving 40 mph for a while, the check engine, stability, traction, and various other warning indicators illuminated. Also, the rpms revved from 1 to 5, the odometer fluctuated up and down, and the locks malfunctioned again. The vehicle was turned off, but the revving did not stop right away. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the body control module was contaminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 195,889.

Driver window stopped working, replaced the switch that didnt help, not have no power to the left side of my vehicle, my doors dont lock and unlock, we believe it has something to do with the computer control module. Took it to the local chevy dealer and they didnt fix it with the window switch

Electrical malfunction on my 2009 chevrolet suburban ltz. The car was purchased new from the dealer in nov 2009. Upon delivery, it was noted that the dash lights for function buttons did not illuminate and visor lamps were inoperable. Dealer assured us that they would fix the problem. The hazard occurs when the light completely go out on this vehicle while driving at night for no apparent reason. After four attempts to fix the problem and gm technical support has yielded no clear answers or assistance. I am concerned that my family will be injured in this vehicle.

Passenger seat motor overheated. Initial indication was smell. Seat is powered (forward and back only). Seat switches were not in use at the time. Vehicle was in powered and in motion. Smoke followed w/i 20" of initial smell. Vehicle stopped at sight of smoke and driver was able to locate plugs for motor under passenger seat. Driver removed plug, burned hand significantly in the process.

About a year ago the rear passenger door lock wouldn't work, now all door locks will not lock or unlock with remote or switch. Also will not lock/unlock when put into gear or back into part. Locks move slightly when you push the button but will not fully engage or disengage when manually pushed. No recall data available but i see many complaints.

Driving for a few weeks on more got up one morning and it would not s started keep cranking turn it over there wouldn't started

My 2009 chevrolet suburban began stalling in the middle of intersections after it had rained heavily the day prior. The shop discovered that the issue was the fuel system control module. There was a recall on this, but gm informed me that it excluded my vin #. The problem with the module was exactly what is listed in the recall and was not related to "wear and tear" as suggested by randy with gm (senior advisor), but a faulty seal intended to prevent water infiltration. I am requesting a recall that includes my vin...i am not sure how this can happen on the exact year and car listed in the recall, yet be excluded.i have found additional 2009 chevy owners with the same issue through online blogs that also were denied this recall.

1st: back ac/heater turns on by itself.blows only hot air2nd. Car engine sometimes is hard to start, or won?t start, some times when turning on the ignition will get start as it was still powering on, and when turning off it won?t turn off even if ignition is off. The speedometer/rpm will go to 0 while on freeway.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet suburban. While parked, the contact exited the vehicle and was unable to unlock the driver side door. The contact turned the key to shut the vehicle off but the gear shift selector shifted into drive and began to reverse independently. The contact was able to depress the brake pedal and shut the vehicle off. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostics or repairs. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000.

Vehicle continues to have random electrical problems after adding new grounds, new alternator, new battery, checking contacts. It's been at 4 repair shops including a chevy dealer and continues to have problems. Doors cycle on lock/unlock, lights cycle dimming, abs and other indicator lights come on, lose acceleration and vehicle stalls and dies. Seems to happen more frequently in cold weather and after a 'rest' may or may not start no rhyme or reason. Has baffled mechanics for over 2 years. Pls help.

Vehicle driver side back door would not unlock using remote control.cost over $300.00 to have chevrolet dealer fix.now in feb 2014 with 7600 miles it started not working on the passenger side back door stop working with remote control.all other locks would open but not the rear door at that time.it appears their are issues with these door locks.the door locks will only open manually when they fail which is a pain due to the size of the vehicle.

Accelerating in traffic on a three lane road.at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle power steering, brakes, and acceleration locked up.i could barely turn the wheel and the brake pedal was unresponsive.i could not accelerate at all.i was able to muscle the car into a parking lot and jam on the breaks to coast to a stop.the power was still onthe car, but the ac was not blowing as hard.after a restart, it worked normally.

As we were driving on major highway our stabilitrak light came on and the engine cut out, we had no power.we waited for 30 minutes and started engine, it ran fine.this has happened a total of 5 times now.i would like to have this problem solved and just to have it assessed at our local dealer it will cost $120.we cannot afford that.please help !!!

When you engage vehicle in drive, there is a very jerky, push-pull when accelerating until traction control sensor flashes and turns stabilitrak off.this can be very dangerous when pulling out into traffic and the vehicle does not want to smoothly accelerating to a safe merge in speed.i also have an issue with the dashboard cracking and causing the speaker built into the dash to rattle uncontrollable - this is very irritating and a safety issue as it causes me to take my eyes/hands off the wheel to try and stop the rattle!

While driving down the road the stabilitrak light comes on, and the car shuts off.very dangerous!glad we weren't on the highway.

Purchased a 2008 chevrolet suburban in 2010, with approximately 26,000 miles. It currently has 64,353 miles and the engine is vigorously consuming oil. On july 10th, 2013 i was on the parkway when i began to hear a ticking nose coming from the front of the vehicle, the warning indicator inside the car went off and thedisplay read "oil pressure low", the actual reader gage was marking nearly at 0. I exited at the nearest exit, and had to refill the motor oil with nearly 6 qts. The next oil change is not due til about a month from now or another 600 miles. There aren't any visible leaks, the truck just seems to be burning oil faster than i can run it through to the next scheduled oil change or the 3,000 miles usually allowed by most oils. I have done some research and it appears that a good amount of this particular model have the same exact issue. I do not understand how it falls on the consumer to make such repairs when it is clearly a matter that should be corrected by chevrolet. I don't believe this is a safety issue, but it is certainly a matter that should be taken care of as running a vehicle without motor oil could potentially kill the engine, and permanently disable a vehicle, or even worse bring up a class action lawsuit against the manufactures.i've been a faithful customer of chevrolet but this could perhaps be a deal breaker for me, as it has been for many individuals whom have traded off their vehicles for something a bit more reliable.

As i'm slowing down my car shoots out almost into traffic.it wore down both my front and rear break pads. Also burns oil.i have to add a full bottle o oil every couple o weeks. Has smoked from exhaust real bad one time before i knew to add oil.now since yesterday july 13, 2015 it says to service stabilitrak and traction control is off.

No oil pressure light display. Shut off engine i had to add oil.i believe i have the same oil consumption problem many others have been concerned about.i've had to add oil to my suburban ever since i bought it in 2009.i have to add oil every 1000 miles.even if i've had an oil change.i carry extra oil with for fear of the no oil pressure light coming on.my most current problem was with oil still at 40%.

I have noticed over the last few oil changes at every 3000 miles.there seems to be an extensive amount of oil consumption with this motor.it seems to me that it consumes a quart every 1000 miles.there is no visible leaks on the motor or any where in the engine compartment. Also i have noticed that at a cold start up there is a "puff" of black smoke that comes out of the tail pipe.this also can be confirmed by looking at the tip of the tail pipe and the rear body panel behind the tail pipe were black soot has formed.

My cars engine suddenly lost power while it was on. The stabilitrak lightand engine light both came on. I had to pull over.car reset itself after i shut it off for few minutes. It happened again. I took it to dealer and despite the fact that they are aware that it seems to be a recurring issue, they say its not a recall issue. Apparently an oil sensor goes bad and despite the gauge showing its ok, the engine is operating with no oil.i change then oil every 3000-3500 miles so it should not have been an issue.

Driving for a few weeks on more got up one morning and it would not s started keep cranking turn it over there wouldn't started

I was notified by the vehicle that oil pressure is low, turn off immediately. I took it to the dealer and they advised me i needed a new engine. My vehicle had 110,000 miles, it was well maintained, and was driven carefully.

Driving down a roadand shut off will not start aga

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle started to sputter and shake with a loud knocking sound coming from the engine. The check engine warning light was illuminated and the vehicle shifted into limp mode and decelerated. The vehicle was driven back to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine was low on oil. Additionally, the number 6 lifter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 167,000.*dt

Purchased car july 09 begin having problems immed with seatbelt replaced 9/17/09, 11/ 25/09, radio lock, solenoid valve replaced 1/21/10, aug of 2010 started having problems with 4 wheel dr. Car has been serviced at least 12 times since then for 4 wheel drive issues. I got stuck in snow dec. 2012 with no 4 wheel drive. The transfer case has been replaced 6 times since start ofd prob. I am concerned for the safety of the vehicle since i purchased it with intention of needing 4 wheel drive.

While taking 4 children to school in the morning, the dash traction control light started flashing and the engine died. Power steering and breaks were gone and i was left stranded in the middle of a busy intersection. Afterseveral frantic minutes, i was able to restart the engine a drive home.

Door locks no longer working on driver door, front passenger, and now rear passenger. Dealership says all three need replaced. Driver door went first, then front passenger, and then rear passenger. I have found several postings related to multiple door lock failures - not just single locks, but many cases of 2-4 locks failing on a single vehicle. Locks are very expensive to replace (especially in quantities of 3 or 4) and represent a safety issue if the doors cannot be secured.

Our actuators failed on 3 of my doors of my 2009 chevy suburban.if you use the remote only the drivers side rear door locks and/or unlocks.if you use the unlock/lock power button only the drivers side rear works.you must use the key to unlock the drivers door and you must either open the window to manually unlock the other doors or reach across the car to unlock the passenger side locks.we contacted gm and they sent us to have a diagnosis done which cost us $99.they estimated the cost to be $900 and told us we were responsible because our warranty ended at 36,000 miles.this is a safety concern.in an accident i wouldn't be able to get to any passengers including my children nor could emergency personnel.i could easily be car jacked or have my belongings stolen due to the locks not working.if my small child choked or had a medical emergency i could not reach them.i watch stories every day on the news of awful people taking or assaulting women by breaking into their cars and hiding in the back seats.this car cost well over $50,000 and this should be a safety recall.there will be a tragedy if this is not fixed.

The lock on the passenger side door stopped working by the unlock button or the automatic entry button. Had it repaired to the tune of $500. Now both back door locks need replacing.dangerous if kids unable to get out of the car.

The door locks intermittently work. Seems to happen to a lot of people. Safety issue. Can't get in or out of vehicle. We had one fixed and now all of the doors are doing it. Sometimes the car locks itself.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated the rear passenger side door failed to unlock. The contact mentioned that the door would only unlock manually from the inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage were 76,000.

Failure of power lock actuator on rear door.door fails to lock and unlock as designed when vehicle is put in or taken out of gear.this appears to be a common failure on these vehicles from what i have been lead to believe and to date i'm told gm is not doing any widespread recalls to address this quality and safety problem.

The rear seats are "loose" and rattle on bumpy roads.can't be tightened.infant car seat is loose using latch system.dashboard is also cracked in several areas and just keeps getting worse.wear and tear is accelerating because of these issues.

While taking 4 children to school in the morning, the dash traction control light started flashing and the engine died. Power steering and breaks were gone and i was left stranded in the middle of a busy intersection. Afterseveral frantic minutes, i was able to restart the engine a drive home.

Case no. 1-4061367 reported to gm customer communication center on 18/11/2009 "steering vibration" while driving above 100 km/h'. According to gm dealer services department confirmed verbally 'acceptable vibration'.chevrolet has not responded to a complaint case no. 1-4061367 reported to gm customer communication center on 11/18/2009 and none of my presented questions and investigation/documentation requests were addressed.

Dashboard on the driver sided cracked into 2 pieces.i am not the only one who have had this issues.i found quite numbers of owner have the same problem.this is not the quality you expect from $50k vehicle,i believe it is due to "poorly" finished job.gm simply refuses to take full responsibility and forces me to pay so called, "deductible".i believe the nhtsa should look into this matter.thank you.

My dash has cracked in several locations, to the point that pieces are going to start falling inward. The largest cracks are around the driver side hump above the cluster. This crack was not due to any neglect or banging. It just appeared one morning. It happened about 6 months ago. Thank you

Cracked dash in 2 spots

My dashboard cracked in two places after a few years..one over the drivers side steering wheel and at the corner of the passengers air bag.. See pictures.from what i am hearing this is happening a lot.we have always been chev sub and tahoe buyers.. This is not good.

When i bought this vehicle in january, 2019, it had a small crack across the middle of the dashboard.now the crack has expanded and the whole dashboard is loose and bounces around while driving the vehicle.

Dashboard in vehicle cracks the product is made of cheap plastic material and installed from the factory without any support or rubber washers to allow for movement causing the dashboard to crack and crumble over time. This is an issue for gm / chevy model trucks and suv 's from 2007-2014.

Dashboard cracked above instrument panel and above passenger airbag.this occurred when vehicle was stationary.there was no slow progression of the cracking, just one day entered vehicle and found very large cracks in dash at points above instrument cluster and passenger airbag area.

I bought a new 2009 chevy suburban in nov. 2009 and eventually traded it in for another vehicle in july 2015 as the cracked dashboard concerned me. It had 2 cracks, both very close to the airbags. To the best of my knowledge, it started to crack in 2011. However, other defects followed, such as front row center seat lid breaking, drivers and front psgr seat rear pockets breaking, interior door handle started to peel and cut my wife's fingers a few times, liftgate's struts failed in sept. 2012, got it replaced (paid out of pocket about $200), but broke again in dec. 2013. On the exterior, the side molding started to curl up in 2010, very embarrassing to see.

The dash is severely cracked in 3 places with the largest crack above the steering wheel area.

Dashboard cracked in multiple places. Cracking up to the edge of the airbag. If airbag is deployed the shrapnel from the dashboard could cause airbag to deflate rendering it useless and cause injury.

Dash on suburban has developed multiple cracks that could pose a safety issue in the event an airbag may fire.

2009 the suburban has a center mounted dash speaker. The weight of this speaker, over time, has caused the dash to crack near the passenger airbag and the steering wheel. I am concerned with the safety of the passenger in the case the airbag is deployed and the dash explodes?

The dash has three cracks and missing a triangular shape that cracked and fell through the dash.the cracks are worsening.i was advised safe light that photos are taken of dash damage because these cracks are common in these areas for this vehicle.also, the inside door handles are peeling off and have caused many bleeding cuts on my hands as well as my passengers.also a known defect in this vehicle.photos included. I am notcertain of when exactly the cracks began or when exactly the peeling began.

Dash is cracked around passenger side airbag

Cracking dashboard. 2nd cracking dashboard

I backed into another vehicle and my dash cracked and spread across the front

Dashboard is cracking in several locations.first crack appeared several months ago near passenger airbag, new crack appeared on driver side above instrument panel.contacted chevy, and they will not cover any part of the repair.this problem is well documented on the internet (search gm cracked dash).

Dash cracked around passenger air bag. Not sure when it happened. It's a common problem.

Powered lift gate opens on its own with out pushing the button on remote or button on dash

The dashboard cracked in 2 places out of the blue.one location is consistent with many i have seen shown on youtube and in a potential lawsuit about defective dashboards in gm trucks.

The dashboard is cracked in multiple places

Dash cracks:the dash of my suburban 2009 has a big crack on the side of the driver, it seems that this is a common issue with other owners oh chevy trucks bought on specific years. The big concern is that in an event of a collision plastic pieces of the dash will easily break and hit driver or passenger causing bad injuries.

The dashboard on my vehicle started cracking and just gets worse year after year

Dash is cracking into the airbag. Not to mention cracks all over the dash.

My dashboard is cracked and has sharp edges along the cracks.i'm afraid in an impact those sharp pieces will be flying at me and my passengers or completely impede the airbags from inflating as they should.it started with one crack, now cracked on several places, it seems the more i drive it on city roads the worse it gets.the dash might just fall onto my lap one day.

Dash has recently cracked around air bag and above gages. Took to dealer and they said too bad. We can replace for $2000.00.
