I have three gm vehicles with this same recall notice (#49151) from july of 2016. To this day i keep being told the remedy is not yet available. What should be my expectation for resolution? fortunately there has not been a problem.

Takata recalli took my vehicle to the local gm dealer in august of 2016 and was told i would be notified when the parts were available to make the repairs.i have never received any additional information from gm.

There is an open recall that has been open now for 4 years, and gm still does not have a remedy for it. It seems excessive that gm has not yet found any kind of solution when other car makers with the same takata recalls made remedies nearly as soon as the recall was issued.

I received a safety recall notice in july 2016 for the takata airbags.as of today the information still says that a repair is not yet available.given the age of my 2008 suburban it is dangerous and ridiculous that a repair is still not available. Gm must be accountable for recalls on allpotentially affected vehicles and repairs made in a timely manner.

Talapa recall. No solution or available replacement parts. Nothing has occurred yet, but it seems like enough time has gone by a fix should have happened. Alternate solution, disable airbag unacceptable.

Takata recall - i received a recall notice in july 2016.i have contacted gm and local dealers a few times over the last 15 months to request the airbags be replaced but have been told the parts are not ready.gm's letter says the vehicle is safe to drive....is the vehicle safe or not?if it is safe then why are the airbags being replaced?

I'm am bringing up a safety concern in my vehicle pertaining to the airbags in the front of the vehicle. I own a 2008 suburban and recently the dash board has cracked right near the passenger air bag. I have called the chevrolet corporate to voice my concerns and i have been told the vehicle is out of warranty so there is nothing they can do. I am really concerned if my front passenger airbags ever deploys it will cause the dash board to become a projectile. I believe this is a huge safety concern and this is the second chevrolet that i have owned that has the same problem in the same place. The first vehicle was a 07 chevrolet tahoe, which chevrolet/gm fully repaired. I had to trade my 07 tahoe because my family got bigger and got the suburban now it has done the same thing. I am really concerned for the safety of my family and other family's who own a chevrolet with this same problem.

I own a vehicle with takata airbag inflators.they have been under recall since 2017 and the recall has not been taken care of because takata has filed bankruptcy and gm does not have a solution or remedy apparently for the recall!!! i need my vehicle recall to be fixed immediately! who's to know if my airbag inflators are compromised and i am angry that gm will not step up and find a solution and pay for the recall!!my safety and that of my family is at risk!!why hasnt this recall on airbag inflators been remedied??its been 3 years! it's ridiculous and i am angry that gm does not value the safety of it's customers by ensuring swift action on recalls!

The dashboard has a series of major cracks forward of the steering wheel and a number of cracks around the passenger front airbag.the dashboard seems extremely brittle and is now quite "flimsy" and vibrates and/or bounces up and down while driving. This has happened over time.we have not physically been in the vehicle when a crack formed or propagated.it appears that the dashboard would likely shatter upon impact thus throwing shrapnel throughout the vehicle.

Takata recall -- my dash close to the passenger side has a very long split across it due the defect with the airbag.the split materialized very quickly.the car was stationary in the yard.thus far i have not had any contact regarding a solution to get repair it.my concern is for the safety of the passenger when the vehicle is in motion.

There is a recall on my chevy suburban where the passenger air bag is.i have been checking for a long while on when there will be a remedy for this recall and everytime i check there is nothing new stated. This defect deals with the air bag. A function of the car that deals with safety. I think it has been too long with there being no information put out on how to deal with this issue. People have spent their hard earn money on the purchase of an expensive product and the product is defective due to the manufacture. Their is a big crack in the dash board that also looks terrible. Please get on this company about not taking the time to do what's right by their customers.

It's been over 4 years since receiving this recall for airbags that can kill me instead of protect me in an accident.this is more than enough time to correct this issue but it's being ignored until everyone either forgets or more people die.i can't get the dealers to disable or remove the airbag so why even give me recall notice? i need this fixed so i can drive safely or sell my vehicle without concern of others.

"takata inflators" and dashboard cracks.i have multiple cracks in the dashboard of my 2008 chevrolet suburban which gm is fully aware of, and avoids the topic with every call placed with the chevrolet customer assistance center.now there is the potential for the airbag inflators to rupture along with fragmented dashboard parts in the event of a crash.the primary crack(s) are located right at the passenger airbag location.i cannot emphasize enough about the safety concerns i have and the lack of attention that gm has given regarding the cracks and now the airbags.

The dash on my 2008 suburban cracked at around 70,000 miles, in 2012.i reported it then to both my dealer and gm.they called this a cosmetic issue and that they were clearly not responsible, however, many many other suburbans, tahoes, sliverados, and trucks have the very same issue and at exactly the same spots around the airbag.the cracks are around the passenger side airbag, such that, if the airbag were to deploy, sharp plastic shrapnel would fly into the passenger's face.this is a deadly safety concern that i take extremely serious, such that the situation becomes gm is literally and directly threatening the safety of my family.pictures are attached which show the safety defect adjacent to the airbag.please help push gm with addressing this serious deficiency.

Cracks on dashboard next to passenger airbag and above the instrument panel on the left side running across the hump. Always kept in covered garage and maintained as per manufacturer suggested cleaning procedures. Crack on passenger side has widened to the point where the air bag cover makes a rattling noise, apparently due to vibration of the whole part.

Driving when you reach about 30-35 mph all the locks start cycling up and down, all the gauges go haywire, there is a throttle in the engine. When you turn it off sometimes it starts back up and runs fine and sometimes it won't do anything like the battery is dead and then a few minutes later it comes back on and starts back up. The last incident was 01/09/20 but this started in 12/2019. Takata recall:in july of 2016 i received a letter from chevrolet indicating that my vehicle has a defective passenger airbag inflator. I took it to a dealer, hall chevrolet in chesapeake, and they told me they did not have the parts but would call me when the parts arrived. I called several additional times and was told the parts had not arrived, more than a year later i have heard nothing. The gm recall is 49152. My vin is: [xxx]. What can i do?is my car safe to drive? if takata goes bankrupt, what can i do then? is chevrolet still liable?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

There is a crack on top of the dashboard that has become progressively larger.recently a second crack appeared right over the passenger side airbag.this may interfere with the deployment of airbags.this seems to be a recurring problem with2007 and 2008 chevy with same dashboard (tahoe, suburban, et al.) models.

Takata recall.there is an active recall declared on may 27, 2016, and yet there is no resolution?

Takata inflators.have waited for over 1 and 1/2 years for this recall to be completed. If they can't fix the vehicle they need to replace it.just want vehicle repaired or replaced.

I purchased this car in may 2013 with 76,000 miles as a certified used vehicle from a gm dealership in nj. I noticed on test drive brake vibration from the front. Before i picked up the vehicle they replaced new rotors and ceramic brake pads. Now at 17,000 miles later there is vibration again, once again the rotors are warped but the pads are perfectly fine. The service manager told me and i quote "it must have been a hot day and you took the car through a car wash warping the rotors." if gm is making their rotors with non-virgin steel this can happen. I have previously owned a 2005 suburban with 100,000 miles, the rotors never warped and i only needed them changed once at 55,000 miles, i have a light foot.in 2010 i changed my 2005 suburban for a 2009 buick enclave this car was the first time i noticed in the 3 years of ownership that i needed rotors twice, in 3 years i had only put 30,000 miles on the car, so that lead to the purchase of the 2008 suburban. I can't help but believe there is something wrong in the making of their rotors, they changed manufacturer maybe?? with this 2008 suburban i have also contacted them with no answer or reply to the fact when my 12 year old son who weighs 108lbs sits in the front passenger seat the passenger air bag light is on one minute and then off the next minute. Sometime i can put my purse and a gallon of milk on the passenger seat and the air bag light is on will display. Yet my 108 lb child or my 86 lb child the air bag light will go from on to off. So they are my two safety concerns, the rotors warping repeatedly and the air bag light not working properly which gm has refused to comment on. Thank you. Updated 1/16/15

I received a recall notice from gm in july 2016 regarding defective takada airbags in my vehicle.i live in georgia (usa) and my vehicle has been stored outside in hot and humid conditions for the past twelve (12) years.the vehicle occasionally achieves an interior temperature exceeding 200 degreesfahrenheit during the summer months of june, july and august. I have called gm on several occasions to obtain information regarding replacement of my defective takata airbags and gm continues to respond that they are not providing any corrective action i am very concerned that, due to the exposure of my vehicle to the extreme hot and humid conditions in georgia, that my airbags could potentially injure, kill, or result in an automobile accident if an airbag failure occurs due to the degradation of the airbags due to the extreme heat and humidity that occurs in georgia. I am requesting assistance to have the defective takata airbags replaced in my 2008 chevrolet suburban.

Cracked dashboard specially around passenger airbag - safety concern

Takata recallit has been nearly two years since i received this recall notice.local gm dealer and gm customer assistance claim "no parts available".this is not what i would call "resolution within a timely manner", i would like to know if it fits with your definition of "resolution withing a timely manner".although it may be strictly "safe to drive", it is not safe to have an accident in, which is/was the entire point of having air bags.if unable to repair this vehicle, they should purchase it.

This is a major safety concern and chevrolet will not take ownership that this is a a major defect in manufacturing. These dashboards cracking and now the safety cover for my air bag is popping up. I am afraid that the airbag will falsely deploy. I have four kids that take turns in the front seat were this can be a big issue. Not only that, if we do get into an accident the dashboard fragments can break off and impale someone. This needs to be recalled before injuries occur. I have pictures if u would like to see them. I even have a bumper to bumper warrantee and they are still not fixing the issue.

The passenger airbag on the upper left corner has a crack on the dashboard compartment.i noticed it this past weekend & it concerns me since it is where the airbag is.i researched this and found many other trucks by gm have the exact same problem... Gm needs to recall these vehicles due to this problem where the airbag may be affected.

Rear hatch door actuator went out. The door is in the locked position and cannot be opened with console button, key fob or exterior handle. There is no way to open the rear hatch from the inside of the vehicle creating a safety hazard for passengers riding in the 3rd seat. The rear hatch is not accessible for use since i is in a locked position and cannot be opened.i have filed a complaint with gm. Their cs representative contacted me to let me know that my local dealership can fix the problem at my expense. Tens of thousands of these complaints have been filed with gm over the last 2 yrs. And there has been no recall for this potentially fatal safety hazard.

Door lock actuators fail causing doors to remain locked and inoperable.several accounts on the internet claim multiple failures at the same time and or replaced actuators failing a second time.vehicle can not be entered or exited easily in an emergency causing a safety issue.

I purchased a 2008 suburban ltz in july 2011.shortly after we purchased the vehicle 3 of the doors locks have stopped functioning completely, the 4th door works sporadically (driver side, passenger).the locks do not work at all with the keyless entry nor the main lock button from the driver side door.i have been told that it is a problem with the lock actuators malfunctioning and that it is also a well known issue from various dealers and per my research on the internet.in order to unlock the doors, i must manually use the key to unlock the driver side door then unlock all the other doors by hand one by one.then we must lock all doors manually after entering because the locks also do not lock automatically when you take the car out of the park position.although the power locks are a luxury, this also becomes a safety issue. A vehicle with an original asking price of over $55,000 should never have this issue and i'm not sure why chevrolet fails to take action for a clear safety danger.as a mother of 3 children i find this to be a very serious safety issue.a child could easily open the door and fall out of the moving vehicle or if we were involved in a car accident any one of my family members (adult or child) could potentially be ejected from the vehicle, causing either serious injury or worse!! i realize the child safety locks can be activated to keep a child from opening the door accidentally, but that will not prevent a carjacker or anyone else for that matter from jumping in and stealing the car or kidnapping a child.in my opinion, their definitely needs to be a recall issued for this major locking malfunction based on my experience and hundreds of others i have researched.

All 4 automatic door locking actuators do not work.the actuators do not work when the lock/unlock button is pressed on the remote.locks do not actuate when the car is put into park or when the speed is attained that is set in the system settings.the only way to lock/unlock the doors is to manually push or pull the door lock.you can also unlock the drivers side lock by using the key.this is unsafe.

Battery goes dead every third day that the truck is not used. Battery is good.

My dash started cracking for no reason. I went out today to get in my vehicle and noticed a crack along my dash that wasn't their yesterday.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. While the vehicle was in park or drive, all four doors failed to unlock and the key fob failed to unlock the door. In addition, while driving 50 mph, the check engine, stability track disengage, and traction control lights illuminated. The vehicle decelerated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil spilled and caused the spark plugs to fail. The spark plugs were replaced numerous times. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

In 2008 it was hard finding a suburban as a lot of dealerships closed already. So i found a dealership in glendale california. It was far from where i lived. When i was opening the sunroof it started going back and forth. I couldn't believe it. Ii had a long trip home and i was hoping that it would just resolve itself but it never did. I have told chevrolet many times about this problem and you will find my records of how many times i had called them to resolve my problem but they never ever did a thing about it and it is still happening to this day. Also i had just noticed a few short months ago that i have fine little hair cracks showing up all over my suburban. On the hood and on both sides of the car. I went to martin cadillac in west los angeles that services chevrolet suburbans and they had told me your car was probably repainted un-benoistto me. I have had other cars before this one that i have now and i have never ever had the fine lines of the paint cracking all over my car and i contacted chevrolet on this as well and they said they could not do anything for me. I have seen paint fading away on cars but not cracking as my suburban has all over the car. In this day and age, with all the sophisticated technology and the way things are done so much better now than ever before on somethings but not everything as i can see it on my suburban. I contacted chey on this as well and they refuse to give me any help on this. I also had a problem with my brakes when i got the suburban. As i came down a steep hill the brakes started to cause the whole car to wobble. I knew it was the brakes. I took my foot off the brake for a moment the wobbling stopped this was when i had my car for a few short months. Martin cadillac's service manager said the paint cracking should not happening maybe glendale california repainted the car. Chevrolet has refused all 3 claims.

3 door lock actuators failed. This includes the driver side door.all failed within 6 weeks.

Driving the car on city street, let off gas to slow down, engine shudders, the instrument console flashes, indicates engine power decreasing, the radio stops working, the vehicle loses power, the stabilitrac indicates it needs to be serviced, gives rear camera/towing warning, the engine dies, brakes are lost.immediately after engines dies starter will not crank. The car will start again after several minutes.check engine light is on.after a drive of about 4 miles parked car and started next morning--check engine light is off.engine quitting and no brakes could be dangerous.intermittent problem.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle lost power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.

2008 chevrolet suburban.consumer writes in regards to thedisappointment in the manufacturer due to numerous vehicle repairs.the consumer stated the vehicle would run rough, the check engine light illuminated, the service stabilitrak and traction control lights illuminated when some of the cylinders shut down, the lifters were not properly lubricated, causing them to fail.the engine consumed large amounts of oil. There were noises coming from the oil pan and transmission area, 3 of the 4 door locks actuators were replaced, the rear liftgate broke for the 4th time, the right retractable mirror was inoperable, the cruise control worked about 505 of the time, which was probably tied the throttle positioning sensor going bad as well. Also, the vehicle had significant electrical problem, where certain lights would illuminate on the dashboard, there was an audible clicking noise, that sounded like a relay firing very quickly.

The vehicle has a brand new engine which only has about 1,000 miles on it.also there is a crack in the dash at the corner of the passenger side air bag.

2008 chevy suburban will be in the shop next week for the 3rd time for same problems dealing with front air conditioner ceasing to blow air and problems with door latches & locks no longer able to be activated by remote or front master door activator.have replaced ac blower motor, resistor, and driver front door lock actuator. It is now the driver back door lock not working.also, vehicle began running rough; took it to mechanic; sent me on to dealer.had to replace all fuel injectors and camshaft.

Driver's side front door lock actuator quit working completely.the passenger side front door lock actuator works intermittently.

Driver side rear door lock quit working, shortly after that driver door quit lock quit working, took into dealer for repair, said it would be about $1000 for 2 door lock actuator replacements, a few months later the psgr rear door lock quit working.

2008 chevrolet suburban after turning on the ac it began to blow hot air on the drivers side but cold on the passenger. Iwas reading a forum online and it seems the this is a wide spread problem with gm vehicle link enclosed. My 2008 chevy suburban with 94,000 miles stalled while in traffic traveling at about 20 mph without warning. I luckily was able to coast it to the side of the road and after letting it sit for a short time it did restart again but only to stall again after the car ran for another 5 minutes again traveling at about 20 mph.i had it towed to my dealership and have been told that my crankshaft position sensor has failed.while my vin and year is not covered, there is an active recall on this condition (gm recall no. 06083.). This is a very dangerous issue to have especially when traveling with small children in the car. The recall should be extended to other years who experience this issue for the safety of families.

My gauges are doing all types of crazy things blinking on and off i replace my pcm and body control module and still having problems this gmc is not drive able andit should be a recall i have spent over $2000 in the shop

After driving for approximately 3 hours the problem began: the door locks cycle repeatedly, the instrument console flashes, the drive position flashes from park to drive repeatedly, the radio stops working, the vehicle surges, and the stabilitrac says it needs to be serviced. This is the second report we have filed in a month. We have already taken it to the dealership once for this problem in early august when it was just the radio malfunctioning. They said to replace the radio. This is a safety issue that has already been identified by nhtsa item number 10036550 and service bulletin number pit-4730a. Gm says that because our vehicle is out of factory warranty that they will not pay to have it repaired.

Dash has cracked by airbag. Engine just stops while driving and comes right back on after vehicle is turned off won't start needs to sit awhile then it starts and radio n temp panel goes to default.

Air bag light, door locks, traction control, radio, and many other electrical components flicker on and off. Engine vibrates and then dies. Will not start back up until some period of time goes by. Always diff and happens in all temps and driving conditions. When in garage all night will not start in the am. Very intermittent. We have been stranded with kids 5 times and have only owned this vehicle for 4 months.

This started as i was driving down interstate at 65 mph. Suddenly my traction control light on dash came on along with blinking check engine light. Also read stabilitrak off and service traction control in readout below. Immediately my truck lost power and decelerated so i immediately pulled off road as to not get ran over by traffic. Read manual said to turn off and restart. Did this and all was good for another mile then happened again on and off for last 12 miles before i could get home. Upon taking it to dealership today they came back saying nothing about these codes but that there was a misfire code and oil low?? so now i have got an oil change and fuel system cleaning. Upon asking about the initial problem i was told to drive it to see if it happens again. This is a major issue with apparently the whole truck platform at gm. This problem is posted all over internet with cars even shutting off and brakes locking up and the big problem is no dealership knows how to fix it. Charge people a bunch of money to fix numerous things they know will not fix issue. This should be a major recall on 2007- at least 2010 from what i can see from data that is out there. I will be selling my truck after this because i do not feel safe driving my kids in it. I'm die hard chevy guy who has a 2003 suburban with 400000+ miles on it with very little issues in all these years. Please make gmfix this problem.

Purchased the truck in march 2013 with approx 63k miles on it. In november 2013, stabilitrak warning came on.took to chevy dealer who replaced spark plug and new battery.in january 2015, stabilitrak warning light on again.took truck immediately to dealer who hooked it up for diagnosis but did get any results.light did not come on again until 9/8/15 when i was driving 70 mph on a highway.service stabilitrak/service traction control/abs all lit up.strange noise coming from right front tire area when i attempted to slow down to pull off the highway, had no brakes.pedal literally went to the floor.luckily there was an incline so my vehicle slowed enough to allow me to get off the highway.pulled off onto an emergency area just past the toll booths and had to use my emergency brake to stop.luckily, i didn't have my 4 small children with me like i usually do.now the extended warranty company is trying to deny my claim for repairs saying that the rust was the cause.i had the vehicle looked at by a certified authorized dealer who didn't notice the rust and i also had the truck inspected in july per ma law for safety and emissions and there was no mention of rust even though they do a pretty thorough inspection yet i, the consumer, am at fault when my wheel rips apart from the hub while traveling 70 mph?!? this is obviously a huge problem.people in the northeast drive suvs -and come into contact with salt every winter.isn't that the point of having an suv?!?.never again will i buy a gm and i will be sure to tell anyone and everyone i know to avoid them as well.shame on gm for putting consumers in potentially life-threatening situations because of the obvious use of inferior materials. I hope the nhtsa takes a really close look at this problem and force gm to address it.

I was driving my vehicle several days after having a routine oil change and the vehicle started to slow down.i took my car in to be checked out and was told that i need a new engine, the truck has a loss of power due to the stabilizing trak issue.after reading all the complaints online this seems to be a problem which needs to be addressed by chevy.

My 2008 suburban started burning a tremendous amount of oil.seems like i was continuously adding oil.raised the issue with the dealer, who indicated it was a common problem but probably not worth the expense of fixing if i could keep checking the oil.this advice was also based on the fact that all my maintenance has been performed at this dealer, so they know the vehicle well.the last week in january was very busy and saw me driving about 100 miles a day.on thursday, about 30 miles from home, the check engine and traction control lights starting blinking, the car lost power, and the engine began running rough.this was on a very busy highway (u.s. Route 50 near annapolis) during rush hour.this created a dangerous situation.i was eventually able to get the car home.when i brought it to the dealer, they said the oil was dry (i had checked it the previous weekend), a lifter had broken, and a piston head was scored.the cost of work to fix would exceed the cost of a new engine.i now have a new engine, the cost of which was not in my budget.this experience reflects what has been have reported frequently on automobile related web sites..given that this is a design flaw, chevrolet should be covering at least part of this fix.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. While driving 35 mph, an abnormal noise was heard coming from the engine and the oil gauge displayed zero. 2008 suburban 135k. Vehicle has been running well, all routine maintenance was done. Without any warning the vehicle was 3 quarts low on oil. Dealer checked engine told new engine needed. I was told a common problem further investigation i noted far to many similar complaints.this seems to be a defect in engine design. It should not require deaths before this issue is investigated. Like so many others repair cost is an unexpected burden.gm response the vehicle high mileage and age are a factor.this problem has affected vehicles with a rang of miles.gm should recall the 5.3l engine and repair the defect.the first issue with vehicle i was driving on highway the warning light came on.pleasetake the time to look into this issue.gm has indicated 2 quarts of oil being burned in 3000 miles is normal.please take the time to look into the matter. Gm shouldn't be the only bail out.no prior warning was given, no warning lights or low oil indication , no leaks.

I purchased a 2008 chevy suburban ltz on september 24, 2011.shortly thereafter i began to notice that the oil pressure gauge seems to behave erratically, i later learned the car burned oil.i took the car to the dealership in january of 2013 complaining of oil stains on my driveway and that i had placed two quarts of oil in my car within one week.the dealership explained to me this was a common problem and that i would have to have about $4,000-$5,000 of repairs done to rebuild my engine.they also explained that this was a warranty item and that gm would cover it.i was informed by the dealership that gm told them that i had to go through an "oil consumption test" which i did, they performed an oil change on january 31, 2013.i brought the vehicle in for service on february 19, 2013 and the dealer notes that it has burned .75 (3/4) of a quart of oil.when i asked if gm would fix the problem, they said no, that another test was needed.i've never purchased or owned a car where burning oil is acceptable.i brief google search of "suburban oil consumption issues" results in approximately 2.8 million results and there are several pages discussing this apparent common problem.i called gm on february 19, 2013 and was only able to speak with [xxx] and a supervisor in the philippines who assigned me a case number i believe this is a large problem and want a recall and fix. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

This vehicle has always used an excessive amount of oil.must add at least one quart between each 3500 mile oil changes.no leaks have been detected and nothing seems to make a difference.

Check engine light turned on took it in for code results bad firing on plug 7. Replaced still engine running rough and light is still on. After research it seems that the throttle position sensor seems to go bad on these vehicles? of course it is out of warranty, makes me wonder if this should be a recall?

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power and the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact stated that various warning indicators were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to manassas chevrolet (8000 sudley rd, manassas, va 20109 (703) 596-3031) where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed replacement. The contact stated that the catalytic converter was replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to luck chevrolet (516 s washington hwy, ashland, va 23005 (804) 368-6473) where it was diagnosed that the number one and seven spark plugs were covered with oil gunk. The spark plugs were replaced. The dealer also stated that the motor in the vehicle was burning oil and continuously caused the number one and 7 spark plugs to fail. The contact stated that the failure would recur every 3-4 months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 120,000.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. When the engine was started, the vehicle shook violently. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 9-5466810529. The approximate failure mileage was 34,600.

The engine has a design flaw and consumes oil rapidly, loses oil and deteriorates internal parts of motor causing total engine replacement or repair. This motor is currently apart of a class action lawsuit but the lawsuit is only for this engine in the 2010-2013 vehicles. This motor however has been in gm vehicle since 2007 and i assume that the company withheld this information from consumers and public just as they did in 2010. I believe that gm should be responsible for the design flaw of motor in all vehicles that included the engine. Personally i had to replace my motor for excessive oil consumption at the cost of $7,712.13 which included taxes. Then, of course, the motor you put in inherently has the same issue and its just a matter of time before it fails due to excessive oil consumption. The lawsuit is going to be filed for 2010-2013 models i think there should be a recall and i would like to see pressure to include earlier models with the exact same motor.

2008 chevrolet suburban 5.3l afm oil consumption --> extremely frustrated with gm service given me the runaround regarding a poor engine design which leads to bad rings and high oil consumption. Bad rings can be verified by doing a compression check on the cylinder, as opposed to checking how much oil is being used per mileage. Excessive usage is define 0.5 quarts per 500 miles. Last three oil changes, i have use 6 quarts in 3000 miles. My vehicle is under warranty, and they are trying to delay the problem until it is out of warranty. There is numerous complaints of this online. They should replace the pistons and rings and afm lifters and add the new oil baffle.

Apparently there was a technical bulletin issued for this truck. The special warranty was for 120,000 or year 2018. In 2015 i disputed the engine failure and also the oil consumption and the#7 cylinder. My truck was at 170,000 miles and gm refused to pay for the repair. On august 20, 2016, my truck was having the same problems. I returned it back to the same dealer and they said it was the same problem again, this repair was performed less than a year. I called gm again and they refused to make the dealership warranty the repair from last year. Gm knows that this engine is faulty and refuse to recall this 5.3 engine. Now i have to pay for a new engine

A lifter went bad

My vehicle has an oil consumption issue, like many of the 07-08 models.we have taken it to 2 dealerships, and they request that we replace the cam and lifters.we have been told by 2 different chevrolet dealerships that this is a bad design by chevy, and they see it all the time with this year.they also stated that they would not even sell our vehicle on their lot if we traded it in.i live in a small town, and i know 4 people who had this same issue, and had to buy new vehicles because chevy did not offer a solution.the repairs cost approximately $5000.our only option is to trade it in or pay the repairs out of pocket.this is a bad design by chevy, and a safety issue.we cannot drive our vehicle at this time.when the issue began in october of 2016 we were driving down the highway and it started making a knocking noise.we took the vehicle to a chevy dealership in foley alabama, (southern chevrolet) and were told by them it is a bad design, and they have seen many trucks with the same issue.they diagnosed and gave us the option of replacing the cam and lifters for $5000.we did not do this at the time, and took it to another mechanic who stated he had seen this issue multiple times himself.he gave us a temporary fix, and we drove the vehicle home.we took it to our local chevy dealership who told us the exact same thing.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated that the air conditioner board lining was defective and caused damage to the air conditioner bolts. The bolts separated from the air conditioner lines, causing the air conditioner lines to leak coolant. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was diagnosed that the air conditioner lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The failure mileage was 128,123.

While i was driving the suburban in town and on the interstate, the oil light came on and said something about oil pressure and turn engine off.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. After the vehicle was started, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel cap needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the evac system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired again. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 113,000.

Driverside driver and passenger automatic door locks inoperable.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. While the vehicle was parked, the contact's wife proceeded to open the passenger side door from the inside. The chrome paint on the door handle fractured and cut her hand. No medical attention was required. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 137,000.......updated 12/30/15 the consumer stated an exterior door handle, that broke off, had to be replaced. Through reseachthe contact discovered chrome peeling off of the interior door causing the passenger or driver to cut his or her hand. Updated 2/23/2016

Driver side rear door lock quit working, shortly after that driver door quit lock quit working, took into dealer for repair, said it would be about $1000 for 2 door lock actuator replacements, a few months later the psgr rear door lock quit working.

The locks on both of my 08 suburbans started to fail starting when trying to lock or unlock the doors with remote button andthe interior lock button.the problem started with the drivers side door not locking or unlocking and has progressed to the drivers side rear door. This has occurred in both of my ltz 08 suburbans.you can not get out of the car in case of emergency, nor can you lock or unlock the doors if needed to quickly lock if being threatened.dealer states they have had numerous calls however its not covered or recalled.

There is no real events leading up to the event, the power locks just stopped working on all 4 doors.also have had the exterior door handles replaced twice at a cost of 250.00 each.the 4 lock actuators are at a cost of 1000.00the company has a fleet of 10-20 suburbans and tahoes which all the vehicles are experiencing the same defects.this is a major life safety issue with children in the car not being able to unlock or lock the doors in an emergency.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The vehicle was parked when the contact attempted to unlock the rear passenger door using the key fob as well as the unlock button on the front drivers side control panel. All of the locks except for the rear passenger door unlocked successfully. In order to unlock the door the contact had to manually unlock the door from inside. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed the rear passenger door actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 44,500 and the current mileage was 44,550. The vin was unavailable. Updated 06/07/11*ljupdated 06/24/11

The door lock actuator does not work on the driver's door.

2008 chevy suburban has defective external door handles - they break loose from the car body and make the door inoperable from inside - so one cannot exit in an accident.

I own a 2008 chevrolet suburban.in less that two (2) years, three (3) of the door lock actuators have stopped working completely. General motors has done nothing to remedy the problem after making them aware of it.the failure of the door lock actuators is constant.there were no events leading to the failure other than an inferior part.the only way to unlock the rear doors is to crawl over the front seats into the rear of the vehicle. In the event of a traffic accident this will become a safety hazard due to the following reasons.1. The power locks inside the door and the remote fail to unlock doors2. There are no key holes on the rear doors to unlock them in the event of a crash3. This will lead to entrapment inside of the vehicle if the doors are locked in a crash4. This will lead to passenger ejection if the locks are not locked manually5. Structural integrity is lost in the door when it is not locked.

Actuator in door locks not working. When these go out , the door cannot be opened from the outside with handle or remote. If a child or person was in the vehicle and there was a fire , they could not get out.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. While parked, the contact noticed that all the electronic door locks would unlock and lock involuntarily. In order to properly use the door locks, they had to be operated manually. The failure also occurred while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics, where the technicians stated that the lock mechanism failed. The contact was unaware of the repairs that would need to be performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Door lock actuators fail causing doors to remain locked and inoperable.several accounts on the internet claim multiple failures at the same time and or replaced actuators failing a second time.vehicle can not be entered or exited easily in an emergency causing a safety issue.

2008 chevy suburban- all locks have stopped working have been told it is the lock actuator. Huge safety issue as i can not get children out of car. The actuators have failed on every lock in the vehicle, unacceptable!*ln

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the automatic door locks would unlock independently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis.the technician advised her that the failure may be due to the lock actuators. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown. The current mileage was approximately 87,000.

The automatic door locks do not work on my 08 chevrolet suburban.to unlock the doors you have to use the key unlock the drivers side door and then either climb in the back or over to unlock the back doors and front passenger doors. Or roll down the windows.to lock the doors you have to manually lock the doors.

Door handle failure three times, waiting for fourth to fail at anytime. Gm complaint dept refuses to accept responsibility. Three door locks failed by 39,000 miles, last one being right passenger door. We have a 1978 chevy pu and the door locks never failed! this is absurd, a $55,000 top of the line ltz model should not have this problem, and gm won't acknowledge poor quality parts and workmanship! what can a consumer do to rectify this situation?.

My gauges are doing all types of crazy things blinking on and off i replace my pcm and body control module and still having problems this gmc is not drive able andit should be a recall i have spent over $2000 in the shop

New car purchased in 2008.multiple issues with car consuming excess oil and losing engine power.27,000 miles had to replace all amf lifters in engine29,000 miles had to replace throttle body assembly system31,000 miles had to install new oil pump, gasket and seal32,000 miles had to replace oil gasket37,000 miles oil intake system plugs burning oil and oil on intake valve. Had to clean engine and installl 8 valve seals.

Tort converter on transmission was shot...had to replace entire transmission at 135,000 miles.

The contact owned a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated while driving at 55 mph, the rear axle fractured. As a result, the brakes would not engage when the brakes were suppressed causing the contact to crash into a concrete barrier. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed.the contact sustained a broken wrist and neck soreness. The contact did not seek any medical attention. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to her home address. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.

Cracked dash, razor-sharp door handles and it cuts out and shakes due to the stabilitrak.

Brakes do not catch every time. Had them replaced but still have issues where it seems that when your pressing them to slow or stop it takes them a while to catch.saw where earlier models had brake line issues.

Chrome plating on interior door handles peeled offfrom the plastic base material and caused finger injury .

Dash cracked at airbag on dash and also above dash cluster.

I have a 2008 chevrolet suburban and there is a large crack across the passenger side of the dash.i am not sure what caused it.upon reading emails on this and other websites, it appears that i am not alone with the problem.

Front dashboard has cracked and separated into pieces.the pieces fly around interior of vehicle when driving.

Ntsb: 2008 chevrolet suburban: consumer stated there were cracks in the dashboard. *ss

Our 2008 suburban dash has starting cracking upon further review exactly where many others are having the issues. My concern is that one area is around the air bags and as it continues to deteriorate there may be issues with safety device. Based on what i have seen across web is that it is a malfunction of the product.

Two large cracks in dash, one over instrument cluster and the other where dash meets airbag. I noticed a very small crack approx four years ago and has now grown substantially. Researching this on the internet has shown this is a widespread problem with these vehicles, i am just one more complaining of a serious design flaw with possible safety ramifications.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated that the rear hatch lock was not operable and the vehicle was not equipped with a manual release button. The contact was concerned that it would be difficult to exit the vehicle in the event of an emergency or fire. The dealer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000 and the current mileage was 75,000.

Dashboard has completely fallen apart and it is broken into pieces. If the airbags deploy (which airbags are also a recall), this pieces of dashboard can be deadly projectiles to my family. The dashboard started coming apart since 2010. I use my vehicle daily.

Began noticing large cracks on dashboard, which has caused the entire front instrument panel to shift. Panel now sags 1/4" lower on right side. Cracks are also surrounding airbag locations. Should airbags deploy, the plastic could be very dangerous (ie, shrapnel) also, electric lift-gate has failed twice, falling while i am underneath it. I was not injured. Vehicle was stationary in both instances of the cracks and the failed lift-gate.

Door handles are all coming off on exterior of vehicle on both of the front and rear passenger doors.

Dash board cracking and splitting apart in multiple locations// it started off small, and is continuing heading for the gauge cluster.~~~on the opposite side it has completed a split from the defroster ducting to the passenger front air bag cover.

There is a big crack spaning the length of the driver side dashboard. Startsin the corner and over the instrument panel and getting bigger.

Dash board has been cracking over the last 3 years. Even though asun blocker screen has been used. Oil has been used weekly so that it does not dry out , when i wash it.but it started cracking more and more. Now the cracks are where the airbags are. I have reported it to the company last year but no response

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated that the dashboard developed two cracks. One was near the instrument cluster and the other was near the passenger side air bag. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000. Ma 10/25/15

The dashboard is cracking and im worried it will affect airbag. It continues to get looser by the day.

Drivers door has had trouble closing. Hinge was stiff and creaked loudly.several attempts just told needed greased.so we continued to grease when necessary at home.kept greasing the hinge.finally the door would not shut at all around 90,000 plus miles when first noticed the door issue.had to have someone come and help close the door.the door turned out to be defective metal and near the hinge the metal has torn across and thus lowered the door to where it does not close properly.a small weld was done to hold while i pursued help through chevy to no avail as by then we were over 100,000 and told too late.i even had the body manager tell them no rust around hinge, defective metal.now the passenger door has same issue.windows are starting to have trouble closing since door off line.

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked on the driver's side and passenger's side air bag compartment. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 84,000.

Passenger's side handle of our 08 suburban kept cutting people's hands on exit.finally had dealer replace for $120+.now, about a month later, my side (driver) is doing the same thing.this is obviously a quality/design defect and i don't feel i should have to pay for these repairs when i've found so many online with the same problem.currently i'm typing this with a sliced index finger that hurts like sin.thanks for any help.

My main concern is the interior silver coated door handles in my 2008 suburban. The coating has splintered and is cutting our hands. This seems to be an issue in the 2007 and 2008 model, when i look it up online. I'm wondering why a recall has not been issued for something that is dangerous to me and my children? it is a product that was made poorly and they are happy to charge me $200 per door to fix it! if use broke a mechanism in the door handle then fine, but i've never had a metal door handle peel before!i also have a crack in my dashboard that is near to the passenger air bag, it is slowly growing. I have a feeling if it wasn't garage kept that it would be a lot larger than it has become.

Actuator in door locks not working. When these go out , the door cannot be opened from the outside with handle or remote. If a child or person was in the vehicle and there was a fire , they could not get out.

Inside door handle chrome is peeling and has cut our hands on several occasions.

2008 chevy suburban has defective external door handles - they break loose from the car body and make the door inoperable from inside - so one cannot exit in an accident.

Stabilizer bar bushing broke loose for the frame mount causing stabilizer bar to hang on one side(passenger). Have to have it welded and fabricated to repair the issue.this happened while i was driving on the highway. I heard a noise then i ran over something which was the bushing an clamp.

My dash started cracking for no reason. I went out today to get in my vehicle and noticed a crack along my dash that wasn't their yesterday.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated that the check engine and tire pressure monitoring system indicators illuminated. The contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called mark chevrolet (33200 michigan ave, wayne, mi 48184, (734) 629-4964) and was informed that the parts were not available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I have several cracks in my dashboard.i took my car to don ringler chevrolet in temple, tx and they told me there was nothing they could do and that it was not recalled nor covered under warranty.my entire dash moves when you touch it and i'm afraid that either the airbags will go off while i'm driving or won't deploy if i am in a wreck.these cracks have increased in size over time.the small one is the newest crack that appeared over christmas.i first discovered the crack right above the steering wheel in february 2010.at the time, my car was only 1 1/2 years old.i special ordered my suburban in the summer of 2008.

Cracked dashboard. The dashboard is cracked in 5 places, which is quite a safety concern. If airbags were to go off, sharp chards of plastic would come flying. Vehicle was stationary when i noticed first crack 5 years ago, all the others have come yearly after that.

Front dashboard has cracked and separated into pieces.the pieces fly around interior of vehicle when driving.

My dashboard cap is cracked on the drivers side just on the left corner of the dome and also on the passenger side near the airbag. I am concerned the airbags may not deploy correctly or the dash may break free and my visibility will be compromised.

I own a 2008 chevy suburban ltz with 37k miles.the rear door lock actuators failed at 36k miles. The faulty door lock actuators prevent locking or unlocking of the doors from the drivers seat. As i have small children, i feel it is a safety issue to drive with unlocked doors. After researching this issue i discovered the problem to be widespread on a number of chevrolet vehicles. Please reference the following internet forum discussions :http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=98284&st=165 http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f206d4b/75#msg75i suggest the nhtsa look into this issue and mandate a recall and the installation of a more reliable door lock actuator. Please let me know how i can be of further assistance in this matter.

Takata recall

2008 chevy suburban 1500 lt - the dashboard has cracked for no reason. This vehiclas has not been in any accident that could have caused this to happen. The cracks have speard now throughout the top of dashboard.

The dash has cracked around the airbag and around the defroster and more crack starting. This has been a major problem for so many.

Dash is cracked in multiple places. I am concerned that this would cause a safety issue of plastic projectiles in case of crash and airbag deployment

Dash board crack over passanger side of auto

Dashboard cracked exposing electrical systems and may be dangerous during airbag deployment. It cracked on its own and was untouched.

Multiple cracks in dashboard

As with many suburbans 2007 and older, i have two cracks on my dashboard - one by the passenger side airbag, the other above the instrument panel.i believe this isssue is very wide spread.can anything be done?clearly its a manufacturer defect.

My 2008 suburban about 1 year ago developed 2 cracks one on the driver side and one on the left side by the passenger airbag. My concern is if the airbag deploy's in an accident, my entire dash board will become small projectiles causing injury to myself or one of my kids. There are already class action suits on these and several thousand people who have complain. I'm asking for the nhtsa to force a recall before someone is killed over this. There is no reason to risks one's life because a mulita-billion dollar company who knows they have an issue won't take care of their customers. This is america, not some 3rd world country with no regulations so i ask you perform your duties and force a recall by gm. They have pretty much admitted there is an issue by offering customers to fix it for free up to $1000.00 what more do you need.

On july 7th 2015, i went to my vehicle and noticed a crack in the dash on the drivers side, subsequently the passengerside cracked. I consider this to be a hazardous situation because in the event of an airbag release small pieces of the cheap plastic used in the dash would be propelled forth causing injury. I notified my dealership and was quoted $1365 for a replacement dash with gm offering a 50/50 split on the cost. If you're offering to pay part of the cost it's because you are aware of the problem. I also understand that the replacement dashes are cracking also. Poor quality components make a poor quality product! my 2008 suburban is garage kept with 58,600 miles on it. I only use it for vacations.

I was driving on the road when i had heard a creaking noise coming from my dash area of my 2008 chevrolet suburban. When i came to a stop, i looked at the dash and did not notice anything loose or that what cause this noise. As i continued to drive, i noticed the noise again and noticed my dash was cracking in two different places. One crack by the passenger airbag and the other on the left side of the gauge hump on the dash.the crack by the airbag is about an inch and a half. And the one on the drivers side is about 3 inches long and still growing. I tried to seal the cracks with silicone, and that did not work.

Cracked dashboard specially around passenger airbag - safety concern

The dash developed minor cracks initially and has since cracked completely on each side of the passenger compartment.i am concerned these sharp plastic pieces could become airborne during rough road conditions or crash impact leading to shrapnel like situations.

Check engine light turned on took it in for code results bad firing on plug 7. Replaced still engine running rough and light is still on. After research it seems that the throttle position sensor seems to go bad on these vehicles? of course it is out of warranty, makes me wonder if this should be a recall?

Dashboard has severe cracks in multiple places.

Dashboard cracked on passenger side attop left corner of airbag as well as on the drivers side behind the instrumentation panel.cracked appears over time, at 48,000 miles and 62,000 miles, gm said they would pro - rate the cost that i would have to pay but after 100,000 miles the repair would be on me totally.

The dash is cracking in several places and most severely at the corner of the airbag on the passenger side. Crack is also large over the speedometer cluster. Car has been garaged mostly. Car currently has 188,00 miles but cracks started appearing about 60,000 miles.

While i was driving the suburban in town and on the interstate, the oil light came on and said something about oil pressure and turn engine off.

My dash started cracking for no reason. I went out today to get in my vehicle and noticed a crack along my dash that wasn't their yesterday.

I have a 2008 chevy suburban with cracks in the dash. One by the air bag and two over the steering wheel.

All door acuators faulty.dealer replaced 1 rear door at purchase (used).over next 12 months all have failed.i have no way to lock or unlock doors except manually . (keyfob remote and driver door not working).this is a safety issue that chevrolet should fixed regardless of warrenty.please pursue with gm/chevrolet as their customer service response is to take to the dealer.$250/door.

Dashboard is cracked in multiple places.rattles, makes a lot of cabin noise and is distracting.not a safety issue per se.but dash was cracked now for many years.what is gm's position on replacing dashboard?

The dash started craking by the air bag whlepark in the garage and a cople of weeks lateranother crack appearon top of the cluster.

The dashboard is cracked and broken at pass. Airbag and center of the dash, and is really broken above the console area.

2008 chevrolet suburban.consumer states unintended sudden acceleration.*tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle accelerated rapidly from a standing start to enter the traffic lane ahead of oncoming traffic from the left. He depressed the accelerator pedal quickly, then let up, but the engine rpm continued to climb, as if the accelerator were fully depressed. Upon hearing the engine continue to accelerate on its own, and feeling the vehicle surge forward, the consumer applied the brake with full force, using both feet and was successful in bringing the vehicle to stop; distance traveled was about 40 feet from the point where the brakes were applied. Once stopped, the consumer put the transmission in park, where upon the engine accelerated to the rev limit. He immediately turned off the engine using the ignition switch, to avoid engine damage. After a moment, he restarted the engine, which resumed normal operation.

Own a 2008 suburban and had exact problem five (5) times and paid to repair (5) times.we have called gm consistently relative to problem and will not admit issue.we have learned other owners having similar issues with stabillitrak sensors.the vehicle immediately drops speed to 20 miles an hour during driving.my understanding, the vehicle receives senor reading relative to sterring and stability (potential for vehicle to spin out of control).issue is the vehicle immediately drops speed which can cause potential for severe "rear-end" accidents.i called your hotline "without return calls"!

The contact owns a 2008 chevrolet suburban. The contact stated that the rear view mirror failed to give a clear view of the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 87,000.

Wipers stopped working.

Rear window spontaneously shattered while vehicle was in motion.rear defrosters were not on at this time but had been on earlier that morning, outside temp was 32 degrees.this is a safety concern due to shattered glass was sent into the rear of the vehicle where children sit.
