Dealer said that i used the tilt mechanism too much and that it was not intended to be used each entry/exit.i commented that this assembly should have been designed to prevent this type of failure since the air bag operation was impaired by it.dealer disagreed, refused to contact chevrolet in my behalf and charged me over $240.00 to replace the part.this is a very critical assembly and never should have failed from use in this manner.i have the failed component and can send it to you for examination.

During a front impact accident. The drivers side air bag did not deploy.

Consumer was involved in a 45 mph frontal collision in which the driver's side air bag did not deploy. Frontal damages totalling$10,000.

While driving at approximately 45mph with cruise controlengaged but not set, experienced sudden acceleration, engine overpowered brakes,to avoid collision steered into ditch, vehicle flipped over end, then rolled twice side ways, no airbag deployment, no prior warning, after accident, shoulder/lap belt remained latched, but pulled all the way out, allowing to impact with interior.

Had a frontal collision, air bag did not deploy.ttdue to accident, front end and frame were replaced, consumer was injured in accident.

We took a nose dive into a deep ditch at about 40 mph.the driver's side air bag did not deploy.the driver suffered severe facial damage where plastic surgury was necessary.the front end of the car sustained severe damage.

I just recently began having trouble with my 2000 chevy malibu and it prompted me to being researching common issues with chevrolet vehicles.in my research i came upon an interesting fact that several makes and models seem to have intermittant turn signal functionality and hazard light issues.in my case my 1995 chevrolet suburban (which i love mind you) was being checked for a trailer to be hooked up.when the person performing the inspection attempted to turn on the hazard lights it caused a malfunction with all of my turn signals, breaks, hazards(no equipment was attached to the truck so no it wasn't a faulty connection to the trailer, that had not been attached yet.)after several minutes of messing with signals and pushing buttons it finally reset to normal.this funny wiring problem occurs every time i try to turn on my hazard lights.up to this point i have not had a need to use them but i am aware that they will not work if i attempt to.my advise to anyone reading this is if you are having trouble with your turn signals mess with the hazard light button before you go replacing flashers and bulbs.it took several times of pushing the hazard button and turning the signals on and off before they started to work again.i am very disappointed with chevy that this issue has not be address now that i am finding it to seem so common a problem.i was even more disapointed to learn that my malibu has issues that are similar to others with that make and model and those issues are ignored as well.a side note if you read my other complaint. The 1996 chevy s10 my spouse and i were going to trade the malibu for also has fuel issues.what a bummer i used to really like chevy.channel 9 news anyone."nhtsa it shouldn't take someone dying before you make them fix it.if it is a known problem that can be proven is not normal ware they should have to fix it."

Ea oo 013/battery: vehicle experienced problems with acid leakages from the battery posts. Two replacements were made, and problemwasstill occurring. A third replacement was made at consumer's cost, but was later reimbursed by dealer.*ml

Battery acid is leaking into the wires,and there is no connection.

Battery electrolyte leak acid buring and corroding the air bag sensor and wiring, and air condition freon lines and brake hose eng climp.

Pe 99 073: vehicle experiencing battery acid leaking onto the brake line. Dealer/ mfr. Contacted, but not aware of the problem. *ml

Battery case was defective causing battery acid to leak onto the airbag sensor below disabling it.

While parked battery acid was leaking inside of the vehicle from the positive post.the driver had the vehicle towed to the dealer for analysis, and the mechanic replaced the battery, but the problem still exists.this problem caused damages to other batterycomponents, fenderwell and frame.the consumer requested reimbursement. *sc

Problem has occurred two times.first time the side mounted battery post leaked battery acid, spraying it on the engine/frame and wiring. The vehicle was not under warranty. The dealer remedied the problem by cleaning, replacing the battery and painting the vehicle.gmc knew of the problem, and because of a second occurrence of the same problem consumer must pay to have the same work done. Here is no recall on the battery as of yet.

The ignition design on the chevrolet suburban is flawed.something causes the battery to leak to the point of totally corroding away the cables.there are no warnings, the vehicle just stops.the battery acid leaks into the internal part of the positive cable and destroy the connection.because the negative cable is design to run under the positive terminal, it is also effected by the leak.

Starter failed.

A clunking noise came fromvehicle whilein operation. Consumer could smell smoke beforeentering store. Due to faulty wiring underneath the driver side seat, the electrical door lock was inoperable and the circuit breaker was extremely hot.

The vehicle had an electrical fire today, prior to today, it had been blowing/burning several eletrical fuses (15 so far) for the courtesy lights and burglar alarm.the fire was under the front dashboard, on the driver's side.

Engine began stalling at high speeds in traffic and occasionally at idle, fuel solenoids drivers repaired, 3/23/00 engine began stalling again, fuel solenoid drivers out again, dealer repaired, 4/13/00 engine stalled again on freeway, dealer attempted to repair, no codes given, 5/10/00 engine began stalling frequently again, dealer not able to diagnose problem, 5/16/00-11/2/00 engine had been only hick-upping occasionally, a short time afterwards engine began stalling in traffice both high speed and at idle speed. Air compressor failed twice.

We have had our airconditioner serviced at least 4 times. We have tried different shops in hopes that someone could find a leak.on each occassion the shop would put dye in the freon but could not see it leaking out.a charge will last about 3 months.the vehicle goes from one day the a/c works great to the next day having no cold air at all.the a/c doesn't gradually fail like you would think it would if their was a freon leak.i would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and what i can do about it.thanks.

Air conditioner compresssor froze up and destroyed fan belt and front engine drive pulley, 1/10/00 ac still not working after replacing compressor, leak in system, ac compressor clutch bearing failed, owner replaced bearing himself. Cj

Fuel pump switch burned out whiledriving about 40 mph.

Driving 50mph when engine suddenly died/stalled out; would happen at various speed. Took to dealer & mechanic knew why fuel pump failed; had fuel injection pump replaced.

There were non events leading up to the unexpected failure of my stanadyne pump mounted driver (fuel solenoid driver).the failure caused my 1995 6.5l diesel chevrolet suburban to stall in rush hour traffic! this caused me to loose power brakes and power steering.being a 3/4 ton pickup, this was not a pretty picture.the stall caused me to run off the road and into a ditch.luckily there was no oncoming traffic.to correct the problem i installed a new ~$400 stanadyne pmd.these pmds are known to go out every 30,000 miles.this is not acceptable, and stanadyne needs to do something about this manufacture flaw.

The driver side back door has a pin that holds the door together has fallen off several times while i was driving and my children have almostfallen out .now the door doesn't shut properly.

The contact owned a 1995 chevrolet suburban. While driving 60 mph the contact noticed smoke from the rear of the vehicle. The contact pulled over, turned off the engine, opened the hood, and noticed flames near the transmission area. The fire department was called; however, the vehicle was completely burned. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard and declared a total loss. The manufacturer was not notified of the incident. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 236,000.

Seal in transmission failed allowing transmission to flood with transmission fluid and disable transmission and hence vehicle operation.vehicle was left disabled in traffic lane for one hour waiting for tow truck.transmission had been serviced 1,378 miles earlier on 2/24/00 by referenced dealer.

This the third trasmission that has been repaired on this vehicle, and even though there is a recall on 1995 suburbans for a thin transmission case, i was told mine does not qualify.

While driving through the mountain on wet roads pulling a 16 foot trailer w/wood on it, and going up a slight slope. Went to put 4- wheel drive on and it wouldn't go into gear. Had to be pushed out by a bulldozer.contacted dealer, andwas told that the accumulator had gone out.was told this was a consistent problem with these vehicle. Also,electric power window stopped working temporarily.masterswitch had gone out. This happened in hot weather.

The driver noticed a brownish liquid leaking from underneath the vehicle onto the ground while the vehicle was parked inside of garage.driver contacted a mechanic,and the mechanic informed the driver that transmission needed to be replaced due to the housing shaft.

While driving vehicle the rear axle bearings went out for no reason. Cause of problem unknown.

These seals have failed twice in 3000 miles.it was repaired both times with genuine gm parts.i was told by the transmission shop that this is very common for 3/4 ton suburbans.this is simply unacceptable!

Abs brake failure. Also rear axle seals leak, causin grear brakes to get oil soaked, resulting in rear brake failure.

The rear axle seal continually failed, allowing gear oil to soak the rear brake shoes.the oil soaked rear brake shoes cause many problems, many affecting the abs system, and directional stability of the vehicle during stops, the distance required to stop, and a general poor feeling of the brake system.the oil soaked rear brake shoes cause the rear wheels to lock up at low speeds when the brake is applied, especially when the conditions are wet.under all braking conditions, the vehicle will pull to one side or the other.because the rear brakes are not contributing to slow the vehicle down, as designed, the frontbrakes do more of the stopping, and the abs is more apt to detect an actualskid. The abs, unlocks the lock wheel, thus overlaoding the other front wheel, causing that wheel to skid, and the abs unlocks that wheel next.this cycle continues, causing the brake pedal to travel towards the flood, and the vehicle to pull to each side repeatedly.the symptoms i am reporting are reported at your web site hundres of times.it is time the general motors is forced to do something about the brake problems, many of which may be traced to leaky rer axle seals.

When i started to drive forward the rear end made a popping sound and the vehicle began to vibrate.when i would turn the vehicle made a louder sound and stronger vibration.i took the vehicle to my mechanic who looked at it and found the pinion gears broken and metal shavings in the rearend.

A bolt broke from the seat that is attached to track anchors, causingseat to move back and forth while driving.

Seat belt retractor failure.

After accident found shoulder/lap belt remained latched, but had pulled all the way out, allowing occupant to impact with interior.

Seat belt twisted around child, when trying to release the rectractor locked up getting tighter.(consumer is attorney).

Braking to avoid somebody on the road, applied the brakes pretty hard and the child in the passenger seat was in the shoulder/lap, seat belt did not catch the child and the child went into the windsheild with the seat belt.please describe in detail.*a

The antilock brake sensor has been inoperative sine 12/97 and has been inspected multiple times.the replacement part and relay will cost aprox. $700 so i have not replaced it.the abs warning light in the dash panel is always on.i have no idea if the abs system will really work in a sudden stop.i am trying to get this vehicle approved for coverage under the "special policy" recall just announced by gm but this does not yet cover suburbans as they have an ongoing investigation.

Driving down a mountain about 45mph and saw a vehicle in front of the suburban, put on brakes, was about 90 feet behind the vehicle. Applied foot to the brake pedal, and the suburban just kept going.let off of the brakes and applied foot again and the vehicle kept going until it hit the back of the vehicle that was in front.

Uneven brake pad wear caused by disc brake caliper/bushing rusting.

The front brake pads were replaced after being replaced approximately 20,000 miles ago.my wife drives this vehicle and is a very gentle driver.i have seen numerous complaints and problems relating to unsatisfactory front brake pad wear on this year/model with abs brakes.also, i read that in july of 1999, gmc had initiated a recall for this vehicle/brake combination, but have heard nothing.getting 20,000 miles on a set of front pads (95% gone when replaced) while the rear shoes (replaced at the same time) show little wear is absurd in my opinion.it just seems that "something ain't right."

The problem is ,it goes through a set off brake shoes about every 4 months.the is not pulling a trailer or anything. The wife just drives to work every day. About 10 miles round trip.the calipers are in good shape and parts move freely.the driver side usually has the problem.the inside pad will completely wear out ,without really even touching the outside pad. I have been told by many sources that there is a recall for the porportioning valve that goes back several years,but i can't find it. Help please.

The seat is improperly designed.the rivets break causing the driver to fall backwards.this causes loss of control of the vehicle especially at highway speeds . Out on it which i have not seen. I am told that they do not have a fix just put another seat frame in each time.the last time it broke it was repaired as a goodwill gesture.the dealer has told me that it will not be repaired again under warranty.this is a dangerous situationwhich causes a possible loss of control of the vehicle as it is a sudden failure.it just pops and you fall backwards.the problem is also described as seat popping.the revite get loose and cause the seat to start making a popping sound (which is happening to mine again now) then they finally break.a new truck sold by gm should not have a seat in which the seat frame breaks every year of so.gmjust says tough.---------as tothe brake issue i only included it because i ha d so many problems trying to get it repaired.the brake hoses colapse causing the brakes to stay applied.numerous visits about breaks squeaking/applying were to no avail.even after they would stay applied it took several visits to get them repaired.while driving on the highway theyy apparently would heat up causing the problem to be worse.th ebreaks would get so hot smoke would come off them and the vehicle would hardly move.the dealers replace almost every break part before replacing the hoses which were colapsed inside.

Air bag light came on in instrument panel indicating failure.the wiring harness on the tilt wheel broke (fatugued). Dealer said that i used the tilt mechanism too much and that it was not intended to be used each entry/exit.i commented that this assembly should have been designed to prevent this type of failure since the air bag operation was impaired by it.dealer disagreed, refused to contact chevrolet in my behalf and charged me over $240.00 to replace the part.this is a very critical assembly and never should have failed from use in this manner.i have the failed component and can send it to you for examination.

While driving, consumer rode over a small potholeand a weld broke in the steering column which caused the steering wheel assembly to break and fall into the consumer's lap.

The driver's seat bolt became disconnected from the bottom of seat & the seat cushion.bolt is located on the glide rod that goes back & forth. The bolt holes had brokendue to stress of the sheet metal anchor. This caused a distraction to driver while driving. Contacted dealer & told to bring vehicle to have it checked.

Rear cargo window on passenger side (not back door glass) leaks water into the "bulkhead" area.as water builds up it eventually splases over into the cargo area inside the vehicle thereby flooding the carpet, etc. This occurs whenever there is rain of any substantial amount and is ongoing contiuously.several area suburban owners are experiencing this problem ands no one seems to have a solution.

My white 1995 suburban, which i am the orgional owner, paint is flaking off of the vehicle.i have seen other white cheverlot and gm vehicles doing the same thing on the similar parts of the car. I would like to know if their are any recalls concerning this matter.

January 2001 my paint started falling off in large pieces, chevrolet was notified april 2001. The response was its wear and tear or acid rain, i have seen many other white suburbans losing their paint the same way. I have notified gm on their customer online center and recieved a cookie cutter response that it is not a manufacturer defect, i notified gm in 2001 and 2004 and recieved the exact same email word for word. I went back to my local chevrolet dealer and told him the problem, he took pictures and proceeded to work the problem(april 2004) the response from the factory is that they will cover 30% of the paint if i have them do it. I have two estimates from reputable body shops at $2600-$3000. That means i would have to cover about $2000 for a factory defect, both body shops diagnosed the paint problem as delamination ( seperation of paint from primer). As of this time there is no resolution as i feel gm has known about the paint problem since 1993 and is waiting for these old cars to be scrapped so they won't have to repaint them. My 1995 suburban 2500 4x4 is a low mileage vehicle and i want to keep it as long as i can!

Vehicle was taken on three occasions to dealer shop, and consumerwas informed that nothing could be found. In addition,door would not open from the inside, consumer would have to open door from the outside to let herself out of the vehicle.

Drivers interoir door handle broke not allowing the door to open, had to roll down window and open door from ext handle. Checked pass door handle and found cracked 90% of the way through in same location. I showed the service department and they were suprised but would not discount parts. I purchased new parts and installed them myself at a cost of $22.50 ea. I also contacted gm and they were of no help. I feel this is a safety issue if there was a accident and a loss of power i would not be able to get out of the vihicle.

Excessive brake system failure, pulling and wear is still an ongoing problem since the first day the vehicle was purchased.brakes and system repaired every 500 to 2,500 miles by chevy dealership or an auto center licensed to do chevy warranty/out-of-warranty work.brake conditions deteriorate rapidly once repaired.calipers, rotors, proportional valve, delco brake pads, cyrogenic pads, idler arm, pitman arm, alignments, abs, rear antilock sensor, all have been replaced, some excessively. Very concerned about possible accident resulting in fatalities due to brake performance.fyi, the service center has shown me the tech bulletins published by chevy regarding repairs/service to the brake system.the service center has worked on numerous vehicles with the same problem(s) that i have experienced with the chevy suburban brake system.all repairs/service on the suburban (in- and out-of-warranty) are documented and are available if needed.

When i started to drive forward the rear end made a popping sound and the vehicle began to vibrate.when i would turn the vehicle made a louder sound and stronger vibration.i took the vehicle to my mechanic who looked at it and found the pinion gears broken and metal shavings in the rearend.

Mechanic said thatbolt attachingrear leaf spring attachment tobody of car had come out, and had created a very dangerous situation to where vehicle could roll over.

While on a trip i found out that i needed my tires balanced and rotated. Upon inspection found steel sticking out in several places on two of the four tires and the tread was starting to seperate. Replaced all four tires.

I am extremely concened that i have not heard that the firestone problem extends to their fire hawk line of tires.i had three failures of these tires, all tread separations, within a one year period. After the first separation the faulty tire was replaced. After the second separation, if i remember correctly, all the tires in the production series were replaced. After the third separation i replaced all the tires with another brand. From my personal experience the problem with the fire hawks is just as potentially lethal as those currently under investigation and this needs to be addressed before more people are killed. On my 1995 chevrolet suburban lt, my paint is chipping off. I notified the dealer and they said this was wear and tear.so i e-mailed the main office and was told it was too old for them to repair. This is notwear and tear paint does not just chip off a car get dull maybe but not chip off car. I was told by one of the car painters from central chevrolet dealer in fremont ca that theymixed the paint with the primer to take a short cut.he had seen many of these and was not able to do anything about it. While driving through the mountain on wet roads pulling a 16 foot trailer w/wood on it, and going up a slight slope. Went to put 4- wheel drive on and it wouldn't go into gear. While driving at 55mphin pouring rain windshield wipers went out,resulting inpoor visability forconsumer. This problem has occurred once before, butwindshield wipers eventually worked agian. Recently,wipers have gone out, and have not come back on.

I had the failure and completed the repair at the dealership about 9 months before the vehicle was recalled for this problem.since the recall was announced, i completed the steps i was told were needed to obtain reimbursement from the manufacturer, but they continue to stonewall me.at this point, the manufacturer says the dealer "needs to clear the system" for the repair, and the dealer says he cannot "clear the system" because it will not allow him to complete the entry.neither of them seems to care whether i get reimbursed or not.

Windshield wiper motor failed on the interstate at 60mph, causing loss of vision because of salt spray. Had to pull of highway and use back roads to drive on and stop often to clean the windshield by hand. Found a parts store and replaced it in the parking lot. Not a fun trip.

Unit is same problem as campaign no 98043, kerry chevrolet refuses to add unit to campaign even with identical problems stating that our vehicle was made on a different day or on a different line than the ones involved in the recall for the window washer problems.

Was driving vehicle about 55 mph, left front wheel fell completely off, 3 studs were broken, was driving on axle/brake assembly/ignition lock sticks/ replaced master cylinder and leaking oil pan,headlamp was also replaced.

Was driving vehicle about 55 mph, left front wheel fell completely off, 3 studs were broken, was driving on axle/brake assembly/ignition lock sticks/ replaced master cylinder and leaking oil pan,headlamp was also replaced.

While driving all 6 studs fell off the wheel. Causing vehicleto lose control.
