Read complaints for CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500 (2011)

I had a crack in my dashboard at the corner of where my airbag is stored.this crack could impact the proper execution of the the airbag being deployed. I purchased this vehicle used an at the time it was a hairline crack which led to a large crack and a break in the dashboard.

I have 3 cracks in the dash of my suburban. 1 is in the far left, front corner of the passenger side air bag, and the other 2 are in front of the steering wheel, about 8 inches apart. My concern, aside from paying so much money for a vehicle and having the dash crack for no reason, is that the airbag being deployed on the passenger side may send plastic pieces flying at the passengers face. There is obviously a defect in the production of these dashes, as i have read other people state the same issue, in the same spots. I encourage general motors to issue a recall on this part, as it could pose a dangerous situation in the event of an accident. The vehicle was parked during the period the dash cracked.

My 2011 chevy suburban has two cracks on the dash, both connecting to the airbag. I have concerns of this weakening the dash which could cause sudden deployment of the airbag. I also have concerns thatin the event of deployment,, pieces of broken plastic could cause injury, as did in an accident of another vehicle. My vehicle has been garaged for a year when not used. It was previously owned before that. This is my sixth suburban. The kind of money we pay for these, even preowned, should cover better than the plastic dash that's falling apart. The warranty had just expired about 4 months before i bought it. It was still under the 36000 miles when the first crack was noticed but time had expired.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet suburban 1500. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) and stated that the manufacturer did not repair the vehicle within a reasonable amount of time. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available..

The dash on the suburban has cracked in 2 places. 1 behind the steering wheel and the other behind the passenger airbag area. This is very annoying and noisy, not to mention the danger with the airbag right there.

Significant stress fractures on the dash against the air bag on the passenger side.i'm concerned about dash fragments could injure the passenger or puncture the airbag in a crash rendering it ineffective.

Takata recall- i contacted the closest dealership to my house and they informed me that chevrolet has not provided the replacement airbag inflator to the dealerships to fix the issue even though this recall is dated may 27, 2016, a year and a half later they haven't provided the parts to the dealerships to fix this problem.there has been no incidents or injuries yet, but i am concerned for my family that rides in the vehicle with a defective airbag inflator.

Dash crack at passenger airbag.

Recall was issued may of 2016 and i've still not been notified to bring vehicle in for a fix.

As i am driving the vehicle turns on and off which is very dangerous while driving. Also the electrical goes bad in the car causing the navigation and radio tongo on and off. Stabiltrak goes off on the vehicle and then comes back on. Today as i am driving my car lost power and now the service airbag light came on.

Takata recallmy airbag light has been on for a few months now.it is always on and the risk of injury to myself and family members is at stake. This meds to be remedied asap!

Takata recalli have not been able to have it fixed by my dealership because they have not received parts from gm

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet suburban 1500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The local dealer (don hewlett chevrolet buick located at 7601 s interstate hwy 35, georgetown, tx 78626; (512) 681-3000) confirmed that the parts were not available and the contact would have to wait for the remedy. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-222-1020 and stated that the vehicle was safe to drive. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Takata recall has still not been resolved after 3 years. I drive my family in this car and until it's fixed we have to take 2 separate cars. It's okay, i've made my payments to gm in a timely manner on a car i don't feel safe driving my family in.recall # : 49151

Takata recall

Takata recall. A recall was put in place may 2016. It is now october 2017 and we have yet to have airbags addressed or fixed. We are a one vehicle family and must have our vehicle. Gm says they are safe to drive, but the same airbags were in my grandmother's honda crv and they were deemed not safe and they provided her with a rental vehicle while they replaced her airbags. I am worried about the safety of my family in my vehicle pending gm's appeal to the recall.

Dashboard shows cracking around passenger airbag deployment section, as well as forward of the driver's instrument cluster.these cracks developed while the vehicle was stationary.

Dashboard is all cracked around side airbag and may affect deployment. Dash is also cracked at on driver side. Cracks just appeared no accident, regular around town driving.

The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet suburban 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard where the air bag compartment was located was fractured in two separate locations. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 61,000.

Takata recall:available online information tells me that as the airbags age, they become more sensitive to failure.also, florida seems to have a higher failure rate than most states due to heat and humidity.i keep receiving notices in the mail telling me to get repairs, but all gm dealerships contacted have informed me that gm is not providing parts replacements.i am very concerned about this condition and feel i should be able to get a prompt repair.

Takata recall - i have been unable to get any dealership to replace the airbags that are being recalled.

The dash is cracked over the passenger side airbag and in the middle of the dash just above the center speaker.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet suburban 1500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v050000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact called ralph sellers chevrolet (15015 florida blvd, baton rouge, la 70819, (225) 529-9130) and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

The dashboard is severely cracked in multiple spots. I fear if involved in an accident my airbags would be compromised. Not to mention one crack is on the passenger airbag which is recalled due to the takata inflators recall that seems to never be resolved. I am aware of many gmc/chevrolet owners that have this issue.

The dash on my suburban has cracked at the airbag compartment

Noticed dashboard crack at left hand side of passenger air bag compartment and above instrument cluster on driver's side.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2011 chevrolet suburban 1500. The contact received a recall notification for nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags) and stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time to repair the vehicle. Autonation chevrolet north richmond hills (7769 boulevard 26, north richmond hills, tx 76180) was contacted and confirmed that parts were not available to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Dash cracked next to the airbag panel on the passenger side. This could cause the airbag to fail to deploy.

Vehicle developed two cracks on the top of the dashboard assembly.one crack is located on the passenger side of the vehicle, running from the forward-left corner of the passenger side airbag to the defroster vent.the other crack is on the driver side, inboard and slightly forward of the instrument panel "hump."cracks discovered while vehicle was stationary.i understand this to be common, known manufacturer defect for this vehicle and related general motors vehicles (e.g., gmc yukon, yukon xl, avalanche, tahoe, etc.).this is a safety issue due to the location of the cracks potentially affecting passenger side airbag deployment, creating a dangerous shards of flying plastic in the event of a passenger side airbag deployment, the potential negative impact on the structural integrity of the dashboard and subsequent non-compliant performance during a collision, and potential dust and water intrusion into the interior of the dashboard through the cracks which would affect the various electronic components located in the dashboard interior.

I received a letter 1 and half years after the recall of my airbags. I went to www.airbagrecall.com to get my airbags replaced, walked through the system and it sent me to a local dealer. Called them and they said there is no fix yet for the airbags

While commuting to work on interstate 15, northbound on february 1, 2017, with my two sons in the vehicle, i smelled smoke.i pulled over to investigate and realized the front passenger seat was on fire (pictures attached).i noticed the switch for the heated seat was on, so i turned it off.i then proceeded to the chevrolet dealership in butte, mt (approx. 15 miles) and had them disconnect the electrical to the seat and ensure it was not still burning.this disabled the power seat, seat heater and passenger front airbags.i contacted gm product services to inform them and they started a service request, number 8-2712194856.they instructed me to take it to the chevrolet dealership in dillon, mt where i live for inspection.after the dealership finished the inspection and sent their findings to gm product services i was informed by the customer relationship specialist at gm that they had completed their investigation and closed the case on my "product allegation", concluding it was "normal wear and tear" that caused the seat to catch fire and that gm would not pay for any repair or damages.when i asked how to proceed with appeal of their decision, i was informed their decision was final and non-appealable.i requested written record of their findings to which they sent the attached letter stating they would not assume responsibility and suggested i resolve the matter with my insurance carrier.their letter stated nothing specific of their findings during the inspection.i requested info from the dealership that did the inspection and they said they could not release that information without consent from gm.my insurance carrier inspected the vehicle and documented the cause of the fire as an electrical short.

The battery cables failed which caused the vehicles motor and power to shutdown while driving 70mph with a wife and 4 children in the vehicle.

Oil blow by when drops to 4 cylinders, took to dealership while under warranty to put in a bypass valve to "see" if will fix, didn't so next step was to have bottom half of engine rebuilt which i had to pay for out of pocket which then in turn ended up blowing up my whole engine either because the lifters got to hot & warp(which was the cause originally for the oil consumption as the heads) or the fact that the dealership sanded the heads which could have caused metal shavings to disperse through the engine.either way the issue began while vehicle was under warranty as had been dealing with dealer for 2 years when issue began to the date engine blew.had dealer put back together to take to another dealership for 2nd opinion and they also said it's been a know issue with the suburban from 2007-2011 but is not a recall as of yet - i want my money back, i should not have had to pay for the "see if this works part", the bottom half of engine to be rebuilt, & then a new engine when gm & dealerships know this has been an issue for 4 years!!!!totally not acceptable.i'm not even including all the time & gas taken as had to take vehicle to dealer to test oil levels every 1,000 miles for 2 years - again when a known issue.have paperwork from dealers on hand.

2011 chevrolet suburban 1500.attorney representing consumer writes in regards to serious structural and safety issues concerning the vehicle.the consumer stated water was leaking inside the vehicle. According to the invoice, the dealer found the water leak coming from the body seam below the dash along the firewall. The passenger and driver front seats made a chattering noise. The dealer greased the tracks. The engine was not running correctly. The dealer replaced the throttle position sensor. Also, the front windshield wipers were inoperative, as well as the rear windshield wiper. The dealer found no power open circuit at the connector and allegedly repaired the wiring to the wiper harness.

Fuel leak has developed between two fuel lines that have been rubbing together from the date of manufacture until 4/23/18.this leak developed less than inches from the exhaust system on the braded line portion of the fuel lines near the connections at the fuel tank end.the issue was noticed as i was driving in rush hour bumper to bumper traffic on 395 north in washington dc through the 3rd st. Tunnel.the odor of gasoline was detected, but thought to be coming from elsewhere.the vehicle was driven another mile before i realized the source was my vehicle.when i parked it i noticed fuel pooling under it at the transmission cross member.after it cooled, i went under it and discovered to cause of the leak.the vehicle was towed home via aaa.the mileage at the moment cannot be obtained because the dash is digital which causes the fuel system to energize and spray fuel when turned on.

Front differential has locked up, steering is impossible

The vehicle is one week old with 1200 miles on the clock.the propshafts are severely rusting. The yokes are rusted.dealer said gm refused to further perform repair and consider it normal.

When trying to come to a stop the vehicle seems to suddenly accelerate right before stopping. The vehicle is going less than 5 mph and it quickly lunges forward right before it gets completely stopped. Has done this on at least 3 different occasions. If i had been very close to the car/object in front of me i might have hit it.

Transmission. Vehicle will lunge sometimes just before coming to a complete stop. Feels like the vehicle has be hit lightly from the back end. Have come close to rear ending other cars. The lunge last for just a split second.

The transmission dipstick tube has become detached due to vibrations in the engine.

The seatbelt felled to unleash. I had to push the seatbelt in and push the seatbelt release to get the belt to release. When it was time to buckle up again, the belt wound not latch.

Dashboardis cracking in different spots, 2 places in the last few months. I'm concerned that it can possibly come apart while i'm driving. The cracks happened while driving. I know the crack next to the airbag cracked because the material is to thin to support the weight of the speaker in the dash, i'm guessing the rest of the dash is also made the same way, so any vibration or hitting any potholes is causing it to break. I have heard that this is a big problem with all of these gms and gmcs in the mid to late 2000s. Something need to be done about it before someone gets hurt while driving these vehicles. Gm knows about this problem and won't do anything about it. So much for the government bailout!

Dash cracked next to the airbag panel on the passenger side. This could cause the airbag to fail to deploy.

Dash crack at passenger airbag.

Noticed dashboard crack at left hand side of passenger air bag compartment and above instrument cluster on driver's side.

My name is [xxx]i'm the owner of a 2011 chevy suburban and one day i took my wife to the hospital for surgery and when i came out after 4 hours my suburban had 2 cracks on the dashboard one next to the passenger airbag and one next to the left on top of the gauges panel.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Major crack has occurred in the top of the dash board from near the windshield to the top of the instrument cluster.dash has cracked completely through making the plastic loose.concern with the dashboard if the airbag deploys.

Cracking dash

Dash board cracking in multiple places. According to dealer problem noted many of the vehicles from 2008to 2014 suv's. Gm. Repaired few vehicles with 200 dollar deductible.

Cracked dashboard on the passenger side close to the airbag

The dashboard on my 2011 suburban cracked above the instrument cluster while my wife was standing at a red light. Thousands of people on a specific facebook page( 07-13 cracked dash safety hazard for all trucks) from across america are experiencing the same problem on there gm suv from 2007-2013 and no recall has been put out by gm. The dealers want between 1100 to 1600 dollars for the repair. Gm has stated it is heat related but it is from inferior material they used to make these dash boards. If it was heat related every car in the world would have cracked dashboards.

The dashboard cracking

Began to notice a mold/mildew smell in vehicle both in the cabin and when a/c on. Vehicle was taken to gm service dealers to locate problem.unable to locate leak at first inspection. Another gm dealership acknowledged heavy mold smell in vehicle upon entering, however unable to locate. Consumer began to search for leak and found water had accumulated under floorboard of driver's side.carpet/padding soaked and very strong mold odor upon lifting of carpet.dealer still has vehicle as of 12/30 and no leak can be found.manufacturer notified that service is unable to locate and repair. Additionally, consumer provided with a 2009 chevy suburbanto drive as loaner vehicle.found that the loaner also exhibited the same leak under driver side floorboard. Dealer was notified immediately and to investigate that vehicle leak as well.

2011 chevrolet suburban 1500. Consumer states when the tailgate is commanded to lift it raises between 20% and 50% and then returns to the bottom and locks without stopping *tgwthe consumer stated when he arrived at the dealer, the tailgate lifted approximately 80% and then without warning an explosive noise occurred and a violent downward motion caused it to close and lock.the consumer went to another dealer and the tailgate opened fully and then closed and locked without command. The consumer stated he has been to the dealer six times for the faulty operation of the tailgate.

The dashboard above steering column has a crack almost to the windshield. Gm has been notified of this issue and wants hundreds of dollars to repair. It is a known manufacturer faulty part that they are not willing to recall. Most of which are cracked by the airbags. I feel like this is a hazard.

Vehicle dash is cracking which presents a safety risk.plastic could be propelled at passengers in the case of air bag deployment.

The dash board on our truck has had a crack in it starting near the windshield and stretching towards the instrument panel. No know reason. The crack continues to grow and is already half way up the dash.

My dash board has cracks.

For the past few months my 2011 suburban will randomly not want to shift from park into drive. The gear shifter acts like it is stuck. I have to pump the brake several times before it will engage. Over the weekend my husband had my car keys in his pocket, our 4 year old son climbed into the drivers seat and started to hop over the center console to get to passenger side. My husband was getting in immediately after him to sit in drivers seat. When my son hopped over, he accidently grabbed the gear shifter and my car rolled down the driveway into our camper. Since the car was not on, no keys in the ignition, my husband's attempts to stop it failed. There was not enough damage to turn into our insurance company but we are concerned about the problem with the gear shifter being stuck and now this. I found a recall for this same exact problem on 2013 models and am curious if it should extend to 2011 as well.

Cracked dashboard where airbag is located

The dashboard is severely cracked in multiple spots. I fear if involved in an accident my airbags would be compromised. Not to mention one crack is on the passenger airbag which is recalled due to the takata inflators recall that seems to never be resolved. I am aware of many gmc/chevrolet owners that have this issue.

About 6 months after purchasing the vehicle, the dash cracked in two places near the passenger air bag.this afternoon, i noticed the dash developed cracks in the same places.i am worried if the takata air bag deploys, we have an additional issue of dash pieces being thrown across the cabin.

The dash is cracked over the passenger side airbag and in the middle of the dash just above the center speaker.

The dash board continues to crack to the point where it will be cracked clear through. Any kind of impact could cause the dashboard to fragment and fly into the cabin causing harm to the occupants. Additionally the dashboard is cracked where the dashboard airbag is deployed, so in the event of an airbag deployment dashboard pieces will also fly into the cabin harming occupants. This dashboard is a clear safety hazard and gm should be forced to replace all dashboards for the affected models.

Dashboard has cracked around the air bag area. I am concerned that if in an accident, this could affect air bag performance or dashboard could come apart easier on impact and cause bodily harm.

Cracked dashboard.located above airbag deployment area. Fragmentation hazard.

The dashboard on my 2011 chevrolet suburban 1500 has cracked in two locations.both of these locations would be effected by an airbag activation with high potential for flying sharp plastic fragments that a) pierce the airbag or prevent its proper inflation or, b) injure or kill front seat passengers.open-source research indicates this is a widespread and pervasive issue with general motors vehicles of similar design (suburban, tahoe, silverado, avalanche, etc...) stretching over a period of several years-- at least effecting model years 2007 thru 2013 or more.furthermore, every gm service center has experienced so many of these dashboard cracks that replacement of these parts has become routine.gm views this inherent design flaw as a warranty issue, not the endemic problem it actually is with potential for injury.

Dashboard is cracked in three places, including two cracks around the passenger airbag. This is a common occurrence in gm trucks/suvs and needs to be addressed!

Dashboard is cracked.i understand there is a lawsuit about it.our vehicle is not part of takata air bag recall even though it has spent plenty of time in the southern states that are part of the recall.

The dashboard cracking

Dash cracked above instrument paneldash cracked at corner of passenger air bag

Dashboard is all cracked around side airbag and may affect deployment. Dash is also cracked at on driver side. Cracks just appeared no accident, regular around town driving.

The dash on the suburban has cracked in 2 places. 1 behind the steering wheel and the other behind the passenger airbag area. This is very annoying and noisy, not to mention the danger with the airbag right there.

Dashboard is cracked in several places now - 1st crack was top of dash behind instrument cluster. 2nd crack now at passenger side airbag area at the top of the dash. In 2015, the vehicle was taken to the dealership to have it addressed. Service manager said there was nothing he could do but another manager stated it was a known problem with the suburbans. Chevy rep was suppose to inspect but nothing was conveyed back to me. I did not actually see the dash crack at the time it happened, so it must have been while the vehicle was stationary. The vehicle is always parked in a garage and now only has 58,000 miles on it (almost 5 years old).this can be a major safety issue in the event of an airbag deployment. Pieces of the dash could become deadly weapons in the event the airbags deploy.this appears to be a common problem that should be addressed by the manufacturer since it can be a major safety issue when broken pieces of dash go flying around the interior of the vehicle and injure or possible kill a passenger.

I had a crack in my dashboard at the corner of where my airbag is stored.this crack could impact the proper execution of the the airbag being deployed. I purchased this vehicle used an at the time it was a hairline crack which led to a large crack and a break in the dashboard.

Dash board cracked in 2 places-this car has been garaged since day one

Dashboard on my suburban began cracking at 40k miles.now has 3 cracks, one at the passenger airbag, one in the middle, and one near the instrument cluster rise.i'm afraid that if the passenger airbag is deployed during an accident, it will send broken pieces of sharp plastic as a projectile throughout the car.i have 5 kids ranging from twin 1 year old babies to a 21 year old.as a paramedic firefighter, i commonly see how projectiles in the car can become deadly.this is a big issue.

Dash is cracked and reports show not a recall and if replace will continue to crack.
