Dashboard cracked along passenger airbag interface.known defect unremedied by oem.sharp edges due to crack can hinder airbag deployment as well as shrapnel from the dash in a crash could injure occupants.this is a known defect in plastic manufacture by gm for model years 2007-2011.

Manufacturer recall number2049151 nhtsa recall number16v381 recall statusrecall incomplete, remedy not yet available. The recall status has been showing as remedy not yet available since may 27,2016. We have called dealerships numerous times only to be told that the remedy is still not available just like the website states even though it has been well over 2 years. Meanwhile they recommend that nobody sits in the front passenger seat until the issue is corrected. We have a suburban because we need the space to fit all of our family, which includes using the front passenger seat, and 2 years without being able to use our car to it's full capacity is unheard of.

Takata recallit's been over 2 years now since i first received the recall notice on my airbags.i contacted a local chevrolet dealer today and was told they are still waiting on parts.now my concern is when will this recall be fulfilled?when something tragic happens to me or someone in my family?will the recall never be fulfilled and my vehicle eventually "dies" before the recall can be addressed?this vehicle costs a lot of money and time is steadily going by for a big company like this not be able to get parts.

Takata recall: i have been in contact with gm about the recall since 10/20/16 and nothing has been done about replacing the inflators until now. Gm keeps telling me they are trying to select a vendor to do the work but have not yet and that they consider the airbags safe for driving. When is this going to be resolved?

Takata recall. On 10/19/17 we received a mailed legal notice fromtk holdings inc and its affiliates who have filed chapter 11 bankruptcy cases in the us. The notice told us to take our defective vehicle to to our nearest dealer immediately for a free air bag repair. It also said visit www.airbagrecall.com for more info about obtaining free replacement airbags. However our vehicle dealer says there is no such remedy for these defective airbags.today i checked the recall status at www.airbagrecall.com and it says " recall is incomplete. Remedy not yet available"itsaid gm was suppose to complete its investigation by august 2017. My complaint is that the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall in a timely matter. The recall date was may 16, 2016.

Received notice july 2016 that i would be contacted. Never was so i called allen gmc told them about my recall , made and appointment and drove down met with service advisor steve wacker. He said i cannot fix this as i have no parts. I called 800 222-1020 talked to yvonne and gave her all my info. She put me on hold and burt picked up and i had to give him all the information again. Both these people were in the philippines and said they could not transfer me to a decision maker. Funny how the suits all hide behind these cust serv people. I asked steve and burt how they would feel about putting their wife or child in that seat with the possibility the air bag could kill them as it has others. I asked for a car to drive like honda has done with their customers. Just a bunch of happy talk at the expense of a family member. I don't care if there is a 1/1000 chance it may happen they should fix it or give you a car until they do. They should not be able to produce or sell new cars until the get this situation resolved. Gm is a huge company with lots of resources and it seems a crime that someone may lose a loved one over greed. How soon they forget who was loyal to them when they were in bankruptcy.

Takata recall.airbag was recalled may 27, 2016.its now 2018.why isn't a remedy available?

A crack suddenly appeared on my dashboard at the top left corner of the airbag the driving on the freeway.since that time i have been getting random service airbag messages on my dash display and the passenger airbag will not frequently not go on when i have a front seat passenger.

Takata recall:failure to act on recall on this seven year old vehicle, by manufacture and pine belt chevrolet, lakewood, new jersey. Have call the dealer given a case number [xxx]. This is the second case number issued. In july was told by pine belt parts were on order, now all they will give is case number. I want this on record, that i hold chevrolet, pine belt chevrolet, and ntsb responsible for not getting these vehicles repaired. Chevrolet should be required to replace these vehicle with new one.thank you for your time; [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The dash broke between airbag and forward edge of dash.i am concerned about the safety of passengers if the airbag is deployed and that sharp dash corner hits a person or the airbag.the dash to the left of the break is sinking down to where the clip holding on the airbag cover is visible.the dash vibrates excessively now while the car is moving.i expect more cracks due to this vibration.

2009 chevrolet suburban ltz cracked dashboard without being involved in an accident.cracks started appearing over driver's side area above airbags.very concerning if involved in an accident and airbags deploying and shards of plastic becoming flying projectiles and an obvious problem gm is fully aware of.

Within the first two years of owning the vehicle it developed cracks all along the dashboard.the cracks got bad enough that recently a large piece of the dashboard fell out.i have attempted to get chevrolet to help pay for replacing it but they are unwilling and i cannot afford the entire bill alone.i am worried that the airbags will not work and that having electrical and mechanical exposed will cause harm to myself or the vehicle.

"takata recall"your website states that if the recall is not fixed in a timely manner to contact you or file a complaint.it has almost been 3 years since i was notified of this recall and nothing has happened and i have no idea of when the fix is coming.i have two vehicles under this recall, i am hoping you may be able to shed more light on this situation as gm does not care about the complaints from its customers.i have contacted them in the past and have not received a answer.

"takata recall"

Dashboard of 2009 chevrolet suburban cracked in 2 places, including around passenger side airbag and above drivers side instrument cluster/steering wheel.concerned for the proper deployment of the airbag during potential crash due to the cracked dash that surrounds the airbag. This is a safety issue that needs to be addressed.hundreds if not thousands of other similar vehicles possess the same manufacturing defect in the dashboard and all have reported large cracks in the exact same area.

Service airbags light on

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet suburban 1500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact called friendly chevrolet (2754 n stemmons fwy, dallas, tx 75207, (214) 920-1900) where it was confirmed that the parts were not available for the recall remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available/parts distribution disconnect.

The dashboard cracked in two places at around 50,000 miles.there is a crack between the passenger side airbag cover and the front edge of the dashboard and one over the instrument panel to the front edge of the dashboard.i was told initially that this is simply a cosmetic issue, but subsequent reports suggest that these cracks may cause the dashboard to splinter with airbag deployment, causing preventable harm to passengers.

Dashboard is cracked in several places from driver side to passenger side. It has cracked all around the passenger side airbag. In the event of an accident i'm very concerned the dash will interfere with the airbag deployment. I am also concerned it will become like pieces of flying shrapnel. The dash is defective and should have a recall.

Takata recall. Recall date 5/27/2016. Received letter advising of the recall and that i would receive 2nd letter once part was available. I haven't received the letter so i checked the status of the recall and website states: recall status: recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available. This is a serious recall that can cause serious injury or even death yet here we are almost 8 months later that still cannot be corrected. Our 2nd vehicle also has the recall so we are being left with 2 unsafe vehicles for our family.

Takata recallin addition the dash has split leading right up to the inflator cover.vehicle was stationary when split appeared. Got in the car (parked in garage) one morning and split was noticed leading right up to the inflator over.

Takata recallrecall 16v381 is quite old and needs to be finalized.it is difficult to tell if this is a serious issue or not.

Dashboard cracked by airbag and over instrument cluster hss to be safety issue dash board is loose and vibrates.

Takata recall - i object to gm filing a petition for inconsequentiality.gm's own website states"the propellant in some types of takata airbag inflators can degrade over time, especially after long term exposure in hot and humid regions. If the propellant degrades to a certain level, the inflators may rupture during deployment, causing serious or fatal injuries."as the vehicle has been located in southeast florida since i purchased it new, it has been subject to both heat and humidity nearly continually since original purchase.gm and takata should not be able to avoid the responsibility to restore my vehicle to a safe condition.

Multiple cracks in the dashboard.concerned of loose plastic in case of air bag deployment.

Dashboard cracked by airbag and over instrument cluster hss to be safety issue dash board is loose and vibrates.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet suburban 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start without warning. The contact had to disconnect and reconnect the battery or the electrical box under the hood in order to get the vehicle to start. The failure occurred three times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 103,089.

Door lock/unlock actuators are failing to operate, which poses safety concern for children in these vehicles.i've had two fail.this is a common and wide-spread issue with many 2007-2013 gm trucks and suvs.just for my particular vehicle (2009 suburban) i counted 13 other complaints (with nhtsa id #s) on this website for this issue.apparently the electric motor in the actuator module for each door lock is poor quality and prone to failure.given the safety risk and number of vehicles involved, i'm surprised that a recall has not been issued.

At 21,000 miles right read door lock would not operate electronically.had to manually move door lock button.dealer replaced lock actuator.at 49,000 miles driver's door lock also became inoperable.dealer replaced actuator.this seems to be a chronic defect.

While driving, vehicle suddenly goes into "reduced engine power" mode ("limp mode")with console message "traction contol disabled, service stabilitrak, engine power reduced".generally occurs when temperatures are lower than 25 degrees farenheit.shutting down vehicle for several minutes and restarting leads to normal operation, however vehicle will generally repeat same problem within 5-15 minutes if outside temperature is cold enough (below 25 degrees farenheit) . Error code p1235 (throttle position sensor 1-2 correlation...) is set, but may not persist in memory.gm is providing owners with additional protections for 10 years/120,000 miles under csc-10047220-3332 (bulletin no. 11273), however not all vins are included.vehicle had throttle body (including sensor) replaced in 2010 and appears to be exhibiting exact problems covered by this bulletin, however gm dealer and gm are not extending protection for this vehicle.dealer is recommending another new throttle position sensor and/or throttle body (including sensor), along with computer reset.this intermittent problem has occurred for more than three years and poses a significant safety risk when the vehicle is in motion at normal highway speeds (drastic sudden deceleration in traffic).

We purchased a 2009 chevrolet suburban.three weeks after the purchase and after three other major repairs, i was traveling on the interstate in ohio when the dash flashed a message informing me to service the stabilitrac.i had on star run an engine diagnostic and they informed that the stability control was no longer operational and to have it serviced in the next seven days.we did so and the dealership replaced the steering angle sensor.a week later, i was traveling the same interstate and going to the same location.the service stabilitrac message comes across the instrument panel.once again, i had on star run a diagnostic.this time, they advise me that the abs is currently not functional and it may effect my ability to stop in short distances.needless to say, the vehicle is now sitting at the dealership from which we purchased it.in fact, we are going through concessions with gm in order for them to buy it back.

I was driving on the highway with no ice or adverse weather conditions.while driving my 2009 chevrolet suburban, the computer flashed thestabilitrak is disabled and the engine is powering down.i was driving 75 miles per hour in rush hour traffic and all the cars around me had to slam on their brakes and go up on to the median to avoid me.my engine seized up and the car was motionless.this is highly dangerous and i could have been killed.

This engine uses 1 quart of oil in 750 miles. This is excessive!

Excessive oil consumption is a problem affecting a lot of people with this model in 2009-2010.chevy needs to issue the recall and address their problem.very sadand frustrating.

Dash panel has cracks on driver and passenger side.both motor mounts are defective.engine burns oil badly.

Excessive oil consumption. Vehicle use 2 quarts of oil every 3000 miles. This is a know manufacturer defect but yet they are making me pay for the repairs.

The engine is burning 2 quarts of oil every 3000 miles.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet suburban 1500. The contact stated that while making a turn, the vehicle lost power and the engine stalled. The vehicle could be restarted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who performed a bg fuel injection cleaning and throttle body cleaning and reprogrammed the pcm. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 16,000. Updated 8/28/14

I recently experienced the conditions described by the gm recall 14515 in my 2009 chevrolet suburban 1500.in the past 6 weeks, the car has failed to start. The first incident required nearly 10 minutes of starting the car before it would start.once started the car was fine.it was a cold start - first thing in the morning. About a month later it failed to start gain, after being parked for approximately 2 hours. Again, after about 10 minutes, the truck started and drove fine afterwards.today - about 2 weeks after the 2nd incident, the truck stalled while my wife was at a stop light. It took 6-7 attempts to start before the truck again fired up and was able to be driven.this condition is exactly what is described in gm recall 14515.however, gm is saying that my vehicle (vin: [xxx]) is not covered in the recall. I think that an error and disagree with how nhtsa and gm determined which cars are affected.... I am appalled that gm is able to get away with this.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2009 chevy suburban currently has 57,000 miles.starting around 30,000 miles the automatic locks started to stop working.now the passenger front, passenger rear, and drivers side read door locks do not work.they do not lock or unlock while pushing the switch on door or using the remote.took to dealer today and was advised that the cost to repair would be $875.00.researched the item and it seems to be an ongoing and frequent problem over the past few years, yet gm is not doing anything about it.this is a safety concern to those of us who have children as the doors to do not automatically lock like they are supposed to and they can be unlocked while the vehicle is in motion.i think that this is an issue that needs to be investigated due to the high number of complaints that have been made, the high number of repairs that have taken place for this, the high cost to correct the problem, and the safety issue that it can cause.

The door lock on the driver side second row would not unlock when the car was parked either by the inside unlock mechanism or the remote control door unlock button.had to manually unlock in from the inside which was difficult because of having a carseat back there.should there have been an issue where i needed to get my child out in a hurry, there could have been a major issue.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet suburban 1500.the contact stated that the front passenger and rear driver side doors were defective and would only open when pulling the latch manually.the vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not repaired.the failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 58,600. The vin was unavailable.

Dash board has developed major cracks, parked in drive waymotor mount broke, discovered at inspectionengine had to be rebuilt die to excessive oil consumption (covered under warranty)wheels coroded from inside, pitted head, tires leak air as a resultpurchased as a gm certified vehicle, 32k miles. Had to take back next day due to warped front brake rotors...ant chevy, sellersville pa.

Early and repeated warping of the rotors on my 2007 ltz chevy suburban. In talking to the mechanic it seems that this is a common problem that can happen quickly without warning and cause you to loose control of the vehicle during braking.

I also have one of the affected cracked front dashes that have been posted. The dash is cracked in three places, one over the drivers console which is caving inward, another on the left side of the passengers airbag and the other in the far right corner of the dash. This has a potential to seriously injure someone in the vehicle if the car is in an accident. Chevrolet maintains that there is not an issue with the dashes from any of the following vehicles: 2007-2013 avalanche, silverado, suburban, tahoe and cadillac escalade. All of these vehicles in that range have the same dash component. There are many cases listed on a chevrolet forum website. Replacement and cost to repair the faulty dash is solely up to the dealer not chevrolet.

I have been dealing with this for a couple months, and it is very frustrating. I have a 2009 chevy suburban with approximately 71,500 miles on it. The suburban is always garaged, and we woke up one morning to a large crack, which has now caved in, on the dash right above the hump of the steering wheel and a crack on the passenger side airbag. We called gm and spoke to [xxx] at ext [xxx] and received a case number.we went to our local chevy dealer for an estimate of approximately $1,000, and then called gm back with that estimate. Gm called the dealer and then the dealer lowered the price to $350 - $400.i still find this unacceptable. I know what gm sent me is a standard reply. I do not, and will not accept a phone call that says it will be $400 plus dollars to replace my dash. This is not my doing. This is a defect in a gm product. It needs to be covered and gm needs to step up and show the customer some of the respect it wants from said customer. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dashboard is cracked and continues cracking. This continues to happen over time. Not only is it unsightly but if there were a crash and air bags deployed the pieces of dashboard would become shrapnel.

Dash on 2009 chevrolet suburban has cracked on the passenger side next to the airbag panel. Dash has also cracked on the driver side above the instrument panel cluster. Concern is that in a car accident where the air bags deploy the dash board may break apart and become shrapnel causing additional injury, permanentdisability, or death to the passenger.

Dash cracked near airbag - safety problem

Dashboard is slowly but surely cracking and falling apart on my top of the line ltz. One large crack creeping from the window to the steering wheel and a large piece cracked and fell out nearthe corner of the passenger side airbag. My dashboard is now vibrating heavily.

I bought my 2009 suburban new in november 2009. But at around 60k miles the dashboard cracked. Would this affect the airbags or pose as a safety issue? i have 3 young children in the truck so this better not be a threat to any of us.

Dash panel has cracks on driver and passenger side.both motor mounts are defective.engine burns oil badly.

Takata recallin addition the dash has split leading right up to the inflator cover.vehicle was stationary when split appeared. Got in the car (parked in garage) one morning and split was noticed leading right up to the inflator over.

Dashboard cracking in multiple places. By passenger air bag and drivers side above instrument cluster

The driver side temperature control is very distracting while driving.the setting stays at maximum heat / hot and does not change with the ac running.the driver is always extremely uncomfortable and distracted by trying everything to over and over. Keeping the upper vents closed still hot air comes through.you must keep the system completely off the floor vent, the driver side is extremely hot and causes distraction.is this a new or unknown report for this vehicle?what has failed to create this problem? is this a safety problem, only while driver is in the vehicle and driving for more than 15 minutes and even worse during summer season.

On three (3) separate occasions in the past year, the vehicle enters what appears to be an "electrical system reset" of sorts.this has occurred on long distance trips during operation at highway speeds.the entire electrical system will suddenly power off and on repeatedly, the electric door locks will unlock and relock, the engine will lose power (quite scary at highway speeds) and the vehicle must be removed from the road, powered down, let sit idle for 5-10 minutes and then can be restarted to a normal operating condition. It is almost as if the computer system is resetting itself while the vehicle is in operation and moving. This has happened three (3) times in the past year - all on long trips - march, july, and november. The most recent, instance occurred about three hours into a return trip home and recurred again about 1-1/2 hours later (10 minutes from home) during the same trip.by restarting/resetting the vehicle, i was able to get home. I took to advanced auto and the diagnostic came up negative - no codes, battery and startup all good.i have a large family and use this vehicle to transport them around town and for vacations and such.this is quite a dangerous situation when it occurs and i am afraid it may leave us stranded at some point in time, or worse.

Cracked dash may damage passenger side airbag if activated.

In the event of an accident i'm very concerned the dash will interfere with the airbag deployment. I am also concerned it will become like pieces of flying shrapnel.
