Noticed a crack on dashboard next to the upper left corner of the passenger side airbag.a few weeks later noticed another crack in the dashboard next to the lower left corner of the passenger side airbag.my concern that if the airbag deploys it could be punctured by the sharp edges of one of these cracks.would like it replaced at no cost to me due to faulty design.

My dash was fine on 6-10-15, when got in it on the morning of 6-11-15 the dash was cracked by the airbag.the vehicle is 5 years old but only has 54,000 miles.i am the only owner and it has been well maintained.this seems to be a very frequent problem that is occurring with chevrolet vehicles.see the following site:https://www.facebook.com/groups/gmdashcrack/?fref=nfthis appears to be a flaw in the quality of materials used in these vehicles.not only does it take away from the appearance and value of the vehicle, it is also a safety concern.will the airbag still work properly?if in an accident will there be flying pieces of plastic because of the flawed cracked equipment?this should be something that gm takes care of for its customers 100%.

Letter from congressman wittman on behalf of constituent re airbags that did not deploy.2010 chevrolet silverado. The consumer was involved in an accident. As a result, she sustained a brain injury.

My son was driving my newly purchased 2010 chevy silverado 1500 z71 offroad vehicle.he had pulled off the roadway momentarily, and upon pulling back onto the pavement and beginning to get up to speed, the side curtain air bags deployed and the vehicle shut down.he was able to restart it and drove about 50 feet when it shut down again.of course, all the components to the air bags were in the cabin and he jumped out of the truck where hewas stopped and was able to look over the situation. He contacted me and since he was only 31/2 miles from our home, i drove to the location.the air bags were hanging, and the passenger seat belt was locked tight.he had his seat belt on and it was hanging.he said he hadn't hit anything, had just pulled back onto the pavement and the bags went off.the truck eventually was able to be restarted and he drove it home. The deployment cracked the head liner and i have had an estimate to repair the damage and fix the air bags, a total of $4800 that my insurance won't cover due to the fact there were no injuries because there was no accident.why are there so many instances of this happening nationwide?now i am out almost $5000 for something beyond my control as the dealership where i purchased it won't help either.

The vehicle has been in for repairs several times (3 -4 times in the last 3 years) due to faulty parts or connections related to the air bag system. The previous repairs were related to air bag components in the passenger seat. The service air bag light is again on and the problem this time has not been diagnosed.

I notified gm @just over29,000 that service airbag light came on then it would go out my warranty ended 2months never been in a crash trying to get them to pay obvious defect.

The dash is cracked on the passenger side next to the top left corner next to the passenger air bag panel.my fear is if this air bag is deployed shards of plastic will become shrapnel and injure my front seat passenger.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado. While driving approximately 35 mph, the traction control warning indicator illuminated. The dealer stated that the steering control sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The failure mileage was 41,000. Right after i bought the truck in 2010 i notice right off my brakes weren't working right .so i got in touch with the dealership and they told me to bring it in i took the truck in and they had one of their employee to take it for a drive around town he came back and said nothing was wrong but i still had the problem so icalled them back again and then they told me to get in touch with general motors so icalled them and talk to 2 different people there and then general motors called ramey chevrolet in richland va and they told general motor that where welive in the mountains that it would cause the brakes to do that but the only mountain i have to cross is the one going to the dealership but it not a high elevation to climb to where i would have to use my brakes alot and this is not the only problem i have had out of my truck they had to put some sensors on the motor because the truck just up and quit on me coming home one evening and i have had to have some new rubber seals put around the doors due to water coming in and causing my floor board to rust out and i have all my paper work on the work i have done on it my truck is suppose to be still under warranty and this has all happen in the first year i own the truck sincerely.

Truck wouldn't restart when backing out of a driveway on the highway and shifting into drive. Also there is a vibration heard when driving about 30 or 40 miles per hour. Took it to the chevy dealer where it was bought and they said nothing was wrong with it and that they tested it out.

While driving to work in heavy traffic, my 2010 chevrolet silverado with 27,000 mile suddenly lost power and slowed from 50mph to 25mph in a matter of seconds. Due to the extreme reduction in speed with out my brake lights being engaged, a vehicle following me had to make an emergency maneuver, turn in the right lane, and almost struck a third vehicle. Three warning messages were given that included, engine power reduced, traction control off and service stabilitrack. The vehicle started to run extremely rough and i pulled into a parking lot. While in the parking, lot i researched the above listed messages and found that several other owners have experienced the same problem that has been linked to the throttle body system and the intake. I then researched if any recalls have been issued for this vehicle. I found that a service bulletin was issued but not a recall. I was also surprised that this issue appears to have nothing to due with stabilitrack. I then limped the vehicle home at 20 mph. When the vehicle would shift from first to second gear it would lung forward violently. I later called the pitre gmc, in albuquerque nm, and spoke with a service representative. I asked him if a recalled had been issued for these vehicles in reference to this type of incident. He stated that he did not know of a recall but i could drive it down to their service department and they could check the codes on it. I was surprised by his response instructing me to drive an unsafe vehicle. I believe this issue needs to be addressed due to the likelihood of a motor vehicle crash that could result in sever injury or death. Hopefully gm and nhtsa will not wait until there are numerous deaths to address this problem. This is potentially as dangerous as the ignition switch issue that killed several people. I am a generational chevrolet consumer, but that will probably change.

Engine, powertrain and electrical shut down, fuel shows empty when full, has happened nine times while at speed. Have to coast to stop where ever room can be found, turn key to off and wait then restart.

Engine and electrical system shuts itself off, this has happened more than twenty times since we have owned this vehicle and gm just ignores it.

I notified gm @just over29,000 that service airbag light came on then it would go out my warranty ended 2months never been in a crash trying to get them to pay obvious defect.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while parked, she observed multiple cracks on the dashboard near the steering column and the passenger air bag area. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

I was driving 35mph when my truck lost its stability control and droped me from 35 to 10 in a matter of seconds, and the car behind almost hit my truck. The power steering also was tough to operant. The truck has 44000 miles on it. What would happen if my truck was on the freeway?

Winter of 2014, silverado would engage it's stabilitrack control. When this happens it slows the speed at which the truck could go if it sensed the roads may be icy. The truck would move but very slowly and it felt as if you had no control over it. Even when braking it seemed to not want to brake. Dangerous if it felt to engage while on the road. We removed the fuse that was associated to the stabilitrack and for a moment worked. Then while searching on you tube, we found that a sensor was replaced on other trucks. We replaced the sensor and it stopped it. Truck has been good until this winter 2015-2016. Now the internal temperature of the truck has to be at least 33 degrees or higher in order for it to start in the mornings. Otherwise it is dead. I have to get rides to work, since i work in town, i am able to have someone drive me back home between 9am and 10am to come get my truck, cause by that time it usually is warm enough for it to start. Unless the whole day is going to be below 32 degrees, well then i am just [xxx] out of luck! there are no recalls, but i know i can't be the only one who is having this problem. You tube shows many videos with these trucks and how after they do one thing, it works, then they have to do another and another. I think that gm needs to fix these issues for free. It should be a recall. I just can't be dishing out money whenever the truck decides it wants to not work, gm has to know exactly what is wrong, instead of just saying one thing and then another to get our money. We are already paying for the truck monthly, don't think gm is hurting for money. Gm do something about this!!!! i have always been a loyal chevrolet consumer, my thoughts are changing.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated while parking the vehicle he smelled a fuel odor. The contact inspected the engine and observed fumes which started a small fire. The fire was extinguished with a water hose. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where a diagnostic test was not performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 90,500. The vin was not available. Updated 08/15/13*lj

I was driving my 2010 chevy silverado on i-675 and truck experienced immediate engine power loss, speed automatically reduced to 20 miles per hour and engine light w/ engine reduced power verbiage alerted on display.truck engine instantly started running / sounding rough and wouldn't accelerate beyond 20 mph.this caused immediate unsafe situation for myself and travelers on interstate.i was traveling in left lane and several vehicles swerved around me as i moved to right off road, beyond white line to stop my truck. I quickly learned, by internet search, that a technical service bulletin had been generated for this engine fault, however i have not received any notice from the chevy or gm corporation to date.please help alert the general public about this situation.

Vehicle lost power, all warning lights on dash lite up. Message on dash read "reduced engine power"speed reduced to approximately 15 mph with no acceleration. After stopping at a repair facility no obd codes appeared and on restart vehicle operated normally.a second incident occurred in late february while turning a corner. Same symtoms but at much more dangerous location.

Vehicle has difficulty starting with key after sitting for 6-8 hours.problem is less frequent when using factory remote start.starter will engage, but engine response is sluggish.sometimes engine will not turn over at all, other times the engine engages, but does so very rough and continues with a rough idle for about 1 minute.once running, the engine performs as normal and subsequent starts are generally smooth and trouble-free.

My oil pressure sending unit has been replaced twice in two months.the oil pressure will be fine when starting the engine cold then gradually as the engine warms up it drops and drops until the "low oil pressure" light comes on and the display says to stop engine.after shutting off the engine for only a few seconds and then restarting the oil pressure is back around 30 then will drop and drop and will have to repeat.this last time i was driving 80mph and the oil pressure gauge went down to around 5.as soon as it was restarted it was around 30.the first replacement was on 1/19/2016.this last was replaced 03/07/2016.

We were driving our 2010 chevy silverado (with 11,951 miles on it) on the freeway in the hov lane at approximately 70 mph.the cruise control was on.without warning, the truck jumped 3 times and then apparently the engine just shut off. There was no acceleration, no power steering or power brakes. Once the truck came to a stop, we tried to start it again.the starter turned but the truck would not start.after approximately 10 minutes, we were able to get the truck started and moved to a safe location.then we called and had it towed to a local chevy dealer. The report we got back is as follows:" perform system checks, scan check shows no codes stored in any modules.road test multiple times without failure, let run in stall for 3 hours.no stall ever occurred. No repair required at this time." i questioned the mechanic about checking fuel system and he said since it was working there was nothing to check.so we have no idea what happened to the truck, but we are afraid to drive it.the incident was a major inconvenience to us, but more important, it was an extremely dangerous situation.we are fortunate that no accident occurred and that no one was injured.

Submission from constituent re gm issues (full document not imaged).the consumer stated the check engine and traction control light illuminated. The #7 cylinder and head gasket were replaced. The right rear spring was broken. The vehicle was consuming excessive amounts of oil. Truck was shifting up and down at low speeds noticed that the transmission cooler lines where leaking. Towed truck to dealer when i noticed that transmission oil was leaking onto exhaust pipe. This was a very dangerous situation where the truck could go on fire. Transmission had seal failure in which it was rebuilt at dealer. Transmission rebuilt was covered under warranty but cooler lines where not.

This truck is less than 4 years in my ownership (bought new). This winter i saw red dots in the snow and low and behold the transmission lines are leaking.a $300 bill not covered under warrantee.seems the rubber ends do not like cold weather but yet they are allowed to sell this vehicle in a state with cold weather.i have also had the air-conditioning compressor give outand it was not covered under warranty a $1000 repair. I have also had the bumper replace because it rusted through in the first years, at least it was covered under warrantee.

I went to park the truck the steering was hard and the engine almost died. I took the truck to montgomery . Chevorlet ,louisville ky. 40213. They said that the throttle body needed cleaning. I paid $220.77 to have it cleaned. It didn't help. The steering is the same as before. Im still driving it. Jan.2, 2015.

At low rpm's as in parking the power steering fails to work. The dealer pressure tested it an found nothing wrong, but the problem is always there when you actually drive it.

Dashboard is cracked. Truck is always parked in the garage. This is unacceptable.

I have a 2010 chevrolet 1500 pickup truck and after returning from lunch noticed the spare tire hanging loosely on the underside of the truck bed.after trying to use the jack handle to tighten it back up which failed i lowered the tire via the jack handle and proceeded to view the hoist.the hoist is held up by a single bolt to the undercarriage.i removed the bolt and found that the metal surrounding the bolt had several stress cracks and 2 new fractures.i removed the unit and have it currently.i called a dealer and asked if they had any issues with the hoist and they said they had not but a couple of people had lost their spare tires.i took the unit to the dealer and they said no bulletins were out on this issue and could not help me.i think gm has a safety issue with this part (25974843) as it was replaced in 2013 with 20870067.if this bracket fractures completely the entire 100 lb tire will drop down off the back of the truck and become a serious road hazard.i would be happy to send the unit to you for analysis.

"takata recall".the truck has a big crack in dash above instrument panel. Truck has 35500 miles on it and is always stored in climate controlled shop. It happened while being stored inside shop.never sets out in the sun and has never had armorall protectant on it

Spare tire hoist bracket broke and spare tire was swinging loosely under rear of truck.further investigation revealed several stress cracks in bracket surrounding the bolt hole.if tire bracket would have broke off tire would drop to pavement and become a road hazard.sources at dealer indicated they had no bulletins on this item but knew of some people who had lost their spare tires.i still have the parts.

The dashboard is cracked in 3 places around the airbag.this could potentially be a safety hazard if the airbag were to deploy sending projectile pieces of plastic towards the occupants of the vehicle.the cracks in the dashboard formed due to an obvious design flaw.there was no incident that caused the cracks just normal driving.

Dashboard cracking in multiple places around passenger airbag and driver instrument panel

Cracks on dashboard

The air conditioner will not come on to clear window of fog below 40 degrees . This is dangerous and has caused me to almost go off road as no visibility present. The windows will fog up so quickly and the defroster can not clear windshield fast enough .the air conditioner is automatically controlled instead of manually.*ln

Total fog up of windshield and all windows. This only occurs below freezing as noted by the information center warning of the possibility of freezing roads. The yellow a/c on light in the fan speed control knob is not on, and when the a/c button is pushed the yellow a/c on light flashes three times and goes out. There is no configuration that will activate the a/c and thus mitigate the fog! in speaking with the service manager at the dealer i am told that this is a common problem with these models as there is no way to turn the a/c on manualy and that below freezing the a/c is automaticly selected off by the sensors! it turns out that thea/c button only serves to shut off the a/c if desired. The only operational way to work around this is to turn the defog full hot open the windows and pull over until a viewing hole can be cleared.this clearly is a systemic safety problem with these models!

Dashboard is cracked right by the passenger airbag about 2 inches long. Left top corner going towards the window.

Three cracks around the passenger airbag. First cracked appeared about 60,000 miles followed by the next smaller one then around 85,000 the larger one. This appears to be a common problem that gm is aware of but is not accepting responsibility for the potential safety hazard.

I have owned the truck since new.in the last year the dash started cracking right above the passenger airbag. During the last month the crack has extended to the windshield

Submission from constituent re gm issues (full document not imaged).the consumer stated the check engine and traction control light illuminated. The #7 cylinder and head gasket were replaced. The right rear spring was broken. The vehicle was consuming excessive amounts of oil. The vehicle would accelerate, when the consumer was attempting to slow down and the number 1 and 3 cylinders were mis-firing.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the defroster was defective. The dealer was contacted who only provided a temporary fix to the problem by reprogramming the computer to direct more air to the side windows and applied duck tape on the grill next to the windshield. The modifications did not work. The manufacturer was contacted who offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 7,300. At temps starting around 35 degrees the defroster stops working and the inside windows fog up leaving no visibility at all. So far the only way to clear it is to open windows and wait. Not good when its cold. Moisture builds up like a steamy shower on a mirror. I have read lots of complaints about the same issue and if there isn't a recall to fix then there should be lawsuits filed against chevrolet and this web site for not taking action. Or are we all supposed to wait until people start dying in accidents first?

Defrosters dont work it creates a very real safty hazard truck is undrivable when defroters are needed.

With frost on the windshield, engaging the defroster will melt the frost on the exterior of the window, but it also wets the inside of the cab, causing all of the windows to have fog which will not let you see. This also occurred in december while driving home from waxahachie, snow was falling and the temperature was at 35 degrees and falling with ice starting to accumulate on the windshield. I engaged the defroster to clear the ice, but all of the windows fogged up so fast that i barely got pulled over to the side of the road before i couldn't see at all. It took the truck an additional 15 minutes of running to clear enough of the fog of the window for a portal to see thru to drive at all.

When the temp drops below freezing and it is snowing/raining out side you can not keep the windows defrosted. They are so fogged up on the inside of the truck you need to either drive with a window down on keep a towel in the truck to wipe the windows clean to see. Had truck back to the dealer but the parts they installed never did any good. Please help the people that live in colder climates get some help with this problem. I had the same problem with the 2008 truck i got rid of to purchase this one. The dealer claims to know nothing about any problems.
