The dash on my 2009 chevrolet silverado has cracked around the passenger side air bag. This concerns me as if the air bag deploys this will cause pieces of the dash to injure the person it is supposed to protect. There is numerous information on the internet with people with the same problem. I took this to the chevrolet dealer i bought the vehicle from in foley al and they refuse to do anything about it.

Dash board cracked at passenger side airbag, concerned about safety of passenger if bag deploys improperly due to this compromised dash.

Several cracks in my dash (4-5). One is at the corner of the passenger airbag. The dash is so brittle it cracks from just closing the door. I'm afraid what might happen if i'm in an accident and broken dash pieces go flying throughout the cab. This is no doubt a safety concern! not to mention an eye sore and resale killer. This started a few years ago and continues to get worse.

#09184 airbag light stays on and messageservice airbags is on.

Cracking identified near the passenger side airbag on the dash of the truck. Discovered when replacing truck windshield. Cracking also seen on opposite side of dash.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

2009 silverado cracked passenger side dash board had it replaced by gmc dealer and it cracked again same place as the first crack. Truck has less then 77 thousand miles.

Dashboard is cracked in several places, from airbags to windshield, and in front of instrument cluster. All on top of dash. It is crumbling and i fear for my safety if i am in a collision.

I have a 2009 chevy silverado 1500. The service airbag light came on when i started the car. I noticed there was a recall on this exact thing in the year and make of my vehicle. My vin number was not included in the recall. After talking to a chevy representative they indicated the best way to solve this problem was to make a claim because it is the same problem seen in other 2009 chevy silverados, and my vin may be accepted through the claim. The vehicle was previously registered in missouri, a state that under the recall of some of these vehicles qualified.

2009 chevy silverado lost traction on highway during slippery road conditions, vehicle spun out and hit a metal roped fence head on and also went across the median and slammed the front end of vehicle into a guard rail stopping it instantly from going into on coming traffic.the vehicles damage was on the front end directly in the center causing a wedge into the radiator, engine and bent the front of the frame.the impact was very loud and solid.the impact caused the truck to stand on the front of vehicle, slamming theback end of the vehicle on the ground with great force.the airbag didn't deploy which at the speed of around 60 mph and the place the vehicle was hit in, makes me very concerned on the safety of this vehicle.my 5 year old son said his right arm was hurting after the accident and with in the hour of having the accident myself ended up in the hospital with a stiff neck and a very soar and bruised back, i was released with minor injuries and i consider myself lucky.please let me know if anything can be done about this situation and the safety of myself and my son.

The problem; service air bag illuminates and shows up in the message center. Went to chevrolet dealer and they tried to clear the code with the reader and no luck. They don't know where to start, it could be anything they said. I don't want to dump thousands of dollars to research a problem they don't know if they can cure. Has anyone else experienced this issue? 2009 chevrolet 2500hd diesel.

While driving along highway i noticed the speedometer needle was on zero. Upon farther investigation i found all instrument panel lights were off and directional and hazard flashers would not operate. I stopped, recycled master switch off than on, lights worked properly. Event occurred again six days later.## vin failed ##

I was driving in heavy traffic and used my left turn signal all of the lights is the truck started flashing and the doors unlocked and locked them selves. Then two miles later still in heavy traffic i flashed my lights at a truck to let him know he could safely enter my lane at which point the truck cut completely off going 35 mph in heavy traffic. This is very unsafe and i am lucky that no one was following to close.

Wife drove truck to the store it was raining hard this day. Came out and truck was dead. Jumped the truck and took it home.looked at the battery. Still had factory battery. Replaced the battery. Next morning the truck was dead. Jumped the new battery truck started . Turned truck off /could hear something running in the fuel tank. Found out that there were problems with the fuel module above the spare tire. Called the dealership for the third time. Creg smith auto group. Galion ohio 44833. Could not get the service manager on the phone. Left him a voice mail. Never returned my call. Next day called for service manager. They could not find him in the building. Told a man on the other end of the phone everything that was going on. Something was draining my battery and something was running.24/7.man told me he would call me back. Never did. Left for dealership with the truck. Truck stopped on me in middle of the road had it towed home. Never made it to the dealership.i am very upset with everything now.i turned the key and the truck stuck on was still trying to start after i turned key off. . was afraid of the fuel system and electrical system together. .one spark could blow me up. Now truck will not start at all. Please help me. I was told by dealer that i had to come to a dealer .all parts had to be reprogrammed for the truck. I have no money ! only owe 2,400 and truck is paid off please help me.

After hearing about the recalls on chevrolet cars about the ignition i had to tell you that the same thing happened to my truck. There was a sudden jarring & the truck shut down & would not start back up.

At 46,487 miles had to spend $415.75 to correct engine light coming on. Now door chime comes on at random times when key is not in ignition.

Driving on i10 heading to houston, the entire truck completely shut down, and then turned back on, this again happened 02/2014....the whole truck shut down , thank god the wheels did not lock up or we would have been killed both times. It is at the dealers ...freedom chevy san antonio tx....something is bad on the truck...like playing with a light switch...the dash, every instrument shut off both times, now i am worried that it will happen again, and i can not afford another truck. I thought that the 1st time was just a fluke, but when it did it again, i know now something is not right and is very dangerous for me and my little girl...please reply if a human really reads this.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the door ajar warning chimed before the power doors locked and unlocked independently, the gauges fluctuated and the instrument panel illuminated. In addition, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed but the cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

On march 10, 2009 we purchased a brand new 2009 chevrolet silverado from nu car chevrolet in new castle, delaware.on september 25, 2009, while on vacation in ocean city, md, the vehicle caught on fire with us and our two young children (ages 2 and 5) inside, strapped in their car seats.we were able to pull them from their car seats (terrified) and get a fire extinguisher from the restaurant were we were parked to extinguish the fire.we had the vehicle towed back to nu car chevrolet on september 26, 2009 and it has remained with them ever since.the dealership and general motors determined the cause to be a defective wiring harness and has admitted fault (there was no after market wiring in the vehicle and no previous accidents).as of today, february 5, they have been unable to repair the issue and are now going back and forth with us trying to get us to pay more money for a new vehicle since they can't find a 2009 replacement model.we are refusing to pay any additional money and stated that we will accept a replacement vehicle with same features at no cost or we want a full refund of our vehicle purchase.

Used the truck andparked the truck with no problems. Then the truck sat for 1day and had heavy rain storms come through the area. Then went to use the truck and when i went to start it up the truck would not turn overdead and had a strong smell plastic burningwith the cargo light staying on .check the circuit boardunder the hood and found that some of the fuses had melted.no other problem with the truck until now.

Locks started locking/unlocking. Gear indicator was going from drive to park. Heat came on by itself and fan went from high to low. Speedometer went from 70mph to 55 mph with loss of engine power. Headlightswere flashing on and off. After pulling off i-75 and getting to a safe stopping area the truck would not start after turning theengine off. The engine compartment felt extremely hot: especially the battery.after 10 minutes, the truck was able to start and continue the rest of the trip.after doing some internet research, this problem is well documented on various chevy forums andcar message boards.replacing the mega fuse and battery cables appears to solve the majority of the issues as it did in my case.the defective mega fuse and battery cables caused the excessive voltage through the cables, causing extreme heat which resulted in scorch marks on the terminal ends of the battery cables and the insulation of the cables changing color aswell as the above issues.i am very grateful that an electrical fire didn't happen which i believe could have easily been the case.

This has been on going from day one my truck has 30900 miles on it and almost 3 years oldhead lights flicker or dim out for no reason along with the dash lights dealer said it was nothing they could do it was just that type of voltage regulator.

Key comes out of the ignition while truck is running.

Several times while driving at various speeds the stability control warning light would flash, the door locks would cycle and the gauges would stop working. After a few seconds the warning light would go off and the truck would return to normal.i took the vehicle to the dealer and i was informed that both battery cables had high resistance and needed to be replaced.it is ridiculous that battery cables need to be replaced at 62000 miles.the service adviser made a comment that this was a common problem but it usually happens while the vehicle is still under warranty.

Went out to truck to move it and noticed wipers up on windshield, tried to start it andonly check engine light came on , looked under hood to find an electrical burning smell coming from fuse box.disassembled fuse box to find it was melted and found evidence of combustion, wiring harness connector x2 pin n5 was melted and connector x5 pins g1 h1,2,3,4 k 4,5,6 and j 2,3,4 had melted this is all the damage that i found.

While driving 60mph on a highway, the truck suddenly lurched and two warnings came on the dash; service stabilitrac and service traction control.the truck also operated under reduced power and i had no control over the accelerator.going up hills was an adventure.this is a serious safety hazard for this to happen while driving at anytime anywhere.did extensive research online, and found this is a common problem with gm stabilitrac.brought truck to dealer for repair and they said this is the first one they had seen with this condition.truck had 37,400 miles.dealer replaced throttle control body for free under the powertrain warranty.truck currently runs fine, but the truck does not idle as well as it used to, slight vibration and stutter, dealer said gm said this is common and not a problem, it is set electronically and cannot be adjusted.do we really need all this electronic crap?

While driving my 2009 silverado at 33,000 miles i noticed the check engine light went on and it was running rough. After taking to the dealership it was determined the #7 cylinder was not working. According to the mechanic the afm for the 5.3 liter engines has an oil consumption issue. Half of the engine was rebuilt due to the amount of carbon built up inside the engine. Again at 78,000 miles the check engine light went on again. This time the dealership had the vehicle for 2 weeks to and determined the engine had excessive carbon build up and a engine soak was performed along with splash guards added to the valve covers to keep the engine oil from escaping as the afm was opeartional. At 98,000 miles the oil pressure sensor and the valve cover gasket had to be replaced. Now, at 140,000 miles the water pump, crank shaft and bearings had to be replaced. The dealership said i needed a new engine because they would not rebuild the engine due to the mileage. I have changed the oil every 3,000 miles and started using full synthetic motor oil since my engine issues at 33,000 miles. Gm is aware of this issue with the afm and continues to do nothing. I contact gm customer care and they stated that my truck hasn't been seen at a dealership in over a year, they will not assist in the cost of replacing the engine. But, they will give me a $1,000 credit towards a new vehilce. Instead of fixing the problem, gm just turns there heads on the engine problems and expects you to pay for a new gm vehicle. Gm stand behind your product!!!!

The first incident occurred while driving the vehicle on the highway. The engine light came on and the dash readout gave a low oil pressure warning. The truck was towed to the dealer. They said it was a bad oil pressure sensor and replaced it at a cost of approximately $450.00. Five months later the same problem happened again while driving on the freeway towing a horse trailer. I again had the vehicle towed into the dealer. They said the oil was low and did an oil change. The warning light was off when we got the truck back. The latest incident happened on 4/18/2015. The engine light came on again. I brought the truck to an auto parts store where they read the fault code. The code is p0521 - oil pressure sensor or oil low. I checked the oil it was nearly full but i added a little anyway. The light stayed on. I made an appointment at the dealer. The light went off the day before our appointment. I brought the vehicle to the dealer and now they are telling me that the truck probably needs an oil pump and a valve cover and it will cost approximately $1075.00 to fix. I have done extensive research on this problem on the internet. There are hundreds of owner complaints on various websites documenting the same problem i am having. There appears to be a defect in the design of the oil system in these vehicles. My truck just went out of warranty in december 2014. They want me to pay for this repair even though i have already paid for repairs for the same problem while it was under warranty. This appears to be a serious product defect and gm should issue a recall.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado. While driving approximately 55 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the air conditioner turned off warning indicator flashed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

Excessive oil consumption at or above 1 quart of oil per 1,000 miles.all plugs fouled out at 39,000 miles and one plug cracked.i change oil every 3,500 miles and regularly top off oil.there is no leaking oil but it is somehow vaporizing rapidly.there was no reason for the vehicle to fail like this at this stage in its life.chevy has come to state in a bulletin concerning a tweak to the valve covers to keep the oil from vaporizing.chevy has even more recently come out with a recall as of 1/17/2012 to announce there is a legitimate issue with the oil consumption on this model chevy.this is unacceptable and gm should pay for any current damage to the truck, worn parts and all.

2009 chevrolet silverado.consumer writes in regards to chassis electronic module containing internal contamination recall notice issues.the consumer is seeking reimbursement, as he experienced a failure prior to the recall.the fuel pump module shorted out and damaged the wiring.

Purchased used vehicle from dealer (daniels chevrolet, buick, gmc trucks, inc. Swainsboro, ga) and after sale discovered emission system was disabled and dpf (diesel particulate filter) had been physically removed; probably by previous owner.

Fuel leaking/spraying out of the rear auxiliary fuel tank.i noticed a strong smell of raw gasoline coming from the rear of the vehicle.upon further inspection i observed the raw fuel was coming out of the fuel module connecting fuel line. The metal fuel line sits in a well of the rear tank and was completely covered with dirt/moisture/raw fuel.the tank was removed and we immediately noticed that the metal portion of the fuel module metal piping was rusted thru and that was where the raw fuel was being sprayed/pooling in the well area.the design of the fuel tank & module creates a perfect location for dirt/moisture to accumulate.any type of ignition source could have caused a catastrophic fire and possible explosion.the removed original fuel module was in perfect working condition except for the rotted metal portion of the module.i replaced the rotted fuel module with a new gm oem fuel module.this new module has the same exact construction as the original part.since there is no possible way to clean or keep clean the well area of the tank, i can only assume the new oem part will deteriorate in the same manner.the vehicle had about 34000 miles on it when the condition occurred.since it is out of warranty the new module costs for labor and parts was in excess of $1000.00.in conclusion i think this matter should be investigated further because it is obviously a safety hazard involving raw fuel being ejected from the fuel tank under pressure while the pump is running.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the engine stalled without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The contact diagnosed that the fuel system control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 56,000.

Well maintained vehicle with less that 78k miles and transmission failing.gm should be forced to step up and pay for the repairs.vehicle is a lemon.have replaced and fixed multiple other issues.3 door lock actuators gone out...2 times fixed fuel system vapor canister...passenger window switch failed...cruise not working...

On three separate occasions the fuel gauge on my 2009 silverado read full, when it was actually near empty.the first time was driving through the desert on hwy 395 in california.the outside temperature was over 100 degrees.i knew i had driven too far for the gauge the be correct. There are very few gas stations on that road.the second time it happened was on the same road a year later driving through the desert.i finally realized the problem was the heat, when it happened at my home town in jamul, ca when it was over 100 degrees.the low fuel warning never came on and the gauge said full.i turned the truck on and off and it still said full.the gauge corrected after i added fuel.i inquired at the dealer if there were any recalls and they said there was not.

After unlocking the manual door lock on the truck the interior door handle would not open the door. The lock was disconnected from the interior locking mechanism, effectively trapping me in my vehicle. At this time i unrolled the window and used the key in the outside door to try to unlock the door, but the lock was jammed and i was unable to leave my vehicle using either the inside or the outside handle or locks or the driver door. I was forced to exit the vehicle from the passenger side door. This is a recurring problem and seems to occur most often after rainfall or a car wash. This is a serious safety concern in the event of a collision, car fire or water crash or other emergency that could potentially be fatal and should be recalled to protect people from being trapped in their vehicles. It is also notable that consumer reports has listed "locks and latches" as a common problem area for a 2009 silverado. I contacted a chevrolet dealership and they refused fully cover the repair cost, which was well over $250 and they stated that the "door lock actuator was defective". The corporate gm phone call center was not helpful and told me it would not be fully covered because my vehicle was just out of bumper to bumper warranty. I believe this should be recalled to protect consumers.

Truck comes to scretching haltwith motor running but wont go, door locks and all gagues going up and down a 100 mile an hour.sometimes everything dead and all of a sudden it comes back on.air comes and goes.all lights flash.those uprandom codes.no warning its going to happen.radio will start playing very load cant shut off.when it does this it sometimes lunges forward aboit twenty feet and may run fine or do it again.went to dealer truck stayed 2 months.said they fixed.few months later started again, next dealer said they couldnt find anything. Contacted gm on both incidents. Nothing happened.

I got this truck used at 94k miles on it. It was still in standard warranty. I got the oil changed started getting that clicking/knocking noise. I took it back to the shop that did the oil changed. They looked into and told me it was a common problem with chevy engines is the valve lifters break and needs replaced along with the cams. If i drive too much a possibility to add shavings into the motor and tear it up. Quotes from 3 different friend recommend auto shops from all of them to get a new engine or get rid of the truck. I am still making payments on it. So can't do that. I did take it to the dealership and they refused to help me at all. I was out of the warranty period and good luck. That sucks! i did make a scene to them in front of customers. Since then i have done some research finding out this is very much a problem in all chevy engines dating back to 06. The afm, excessive oil consumption. At one point chevy did do a recall for a year in 07-08. For this problem. But not for any other years i can find. If they knew/know of this problem why not solve it? i have to fix this truck its my daily driver and work vehicle. Total hating chevy right now and has always been my love! i am a single mom and i know have to come up with a new engine about 3,500 then add labor and supplies about 6k total. Not have and very stressed out.

Used the vehicle for vacation in 2011 as it was just 1 year old. Very little brake ped left going down hill. Going down hill and step on the brake and there was a bad vibration and growling noise from the brakes. I had it checked and the dealer ground the brake rotors. This never solved the problem, so they replaced the rotors. This solved the problem for the warped rotors for a while. Now the problem started again with 23000 miles and only growls and vibrates when going down hill where you have to step down a little harder.had it checked out again and they say the rotors are warped again. I replaced the rotors and put new brake pads on and the problem is still there. I do not drive the vehicle hard and only about 4000 miles per year. Whats causing the brake rotors to keep warping.

Extreme chattering of the rear brakes upon application was observed by the owner/driver, including lock-up of the rear wheels (even though abs equipped).the vehicle was taken to the autonation chevrolet superstition springs dealership (6330 e. Superstition springs blvd, mesa, arizona 85206) for inspection and repair (selling dealer).the dealership informed the owner that both rear brake slave cylinders had failed and leaked hydraulic fluid onto the linings.this leakage had caused the sticking of the linings to the brake drums and resulting chattering/lockup of the brakes.post repair, there have been no further issues in the last 3000 miles of use.the repair was at the expense of the customer.as this occurred at 36094 miles and four years of service in residential use, i consider this a product failure due to some form of manufacturing and/or installation defect with the brake slave cylinders.in 40+ years of automobile ownership of many brands with mileages into the 140k+ range, i have never had a slave cylinder failure, nor have i ever heard of a dual failure.this was the same comment by the service technician at the dealer. Please investigate, or at a minimum, add this to your watch list database.i reviewed the nhtsa's website list of defects, but found nothing regarding this type of incident.the fact that it was a dual component failure and could have resulted in an accident if hard braking had been required by the operator, the manufacturer should be made aware of the issue.i attempted to do so personally, but found the experience unsatisfactory.

I have a 2009 chevy pickup and every time you put the brakes on the taillights come on but they wont go off when you take your foot off the pedel.now i'v changed out the switch under the dash 3 times still they do the same thing so i went back to the old switch. Why is this happening tell me please i notice i was not the only one that has this promblem???????????

We could hear the truck making a grinding noise as we slowed for a stop sign. When we looked, the whole brake pad was missing from the drivers side rear brakes. This caused extensive damage to the rotor. We have since replacedthe rear brake pads several times but the front brakes have not been replaced a single time.

My chevy truck is a c1500.i also have a crack in the dash above my passenger side air bag on the dash.i noticed it when my truck only had 10,000 miles on it. It's not from the sun because my truck stays in the garage.it seems there are many of us that has this issue.

On 6/23/13 my father was making a left turn over a 4 lane street. He was hit by a 2008 nissan rouge going between 37-40mph on the drivers side door. My fathers truck was in motion at 4-6mph. The truck suffered extensive damage, and my dad passed away hours later at the hospital due to internal bleeding of pelvic area. The trucks drive shaft was cut in a half. The truck has a 5 star side crash safety rating, i do not understand how a car that was not even speeding crumpled the truck that badly. The frame of the truck was pushed so far back the gas and brake pedal were one.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that she had the child lock activated on the rear passenger side door. The contact attempted to open the door from the outside of the vehicle but it failed. The contact had to enter the vehicle from the other side in order to get the child out. The contact also mentioned that she was able to open the door from the inside while the child lock was activated. You cannot open the doors with the handle from inside the truck if doors are locked. Pulling on handle will not unlock the door. I feel this is a major safety issue as you would not be able to until you use the unlock button. If you are in a crash your instinct would be the use the handle not to unlock it first.

The dashboard is cracked above the airbag and above the radio. The vehicle has less than 60,000 miles and according to chevrolet is out of warranty. This is a safety issue due to the fact that if i am in a wreck the dash could puncture the airbag or even another passenger.

The dash panels on the top of the dash board have completely broken i feel that if the passenger airbag were to deploy it would be a safety issue. Pieces of the dash could possibly become a hazard and injure myself or my passengers this needs to be addressed this is a very common issue among many chevrolet vehicles

Was told by dealer that impact sensor was bad. Vehicle has never been in accident. Here that this is a common problem. Sounds like gm is using a defective part. Vehicle has less than 20,000 miles. Costing me $330 for repair. Can you check into this ?

Crack developed in dash at app 50k miles next to passenger airbag. Crack has continued to expand since.
