The dashboard on my 2007 (new body style) chevy silverado ls, 4.3l has cracked, randomly, right above the passenger air bag. There was nothing to cause this crack, it just appeared.after doing some research, many other gm owners, ranging from silverados to tahoes to escaldes, also have cracks in their dash, in the same spot, some worse than others. My main concern is it cracking more, and also if the passenger airbag were to deploy, the possibility of the dash breaking apart and possibly throwing shards of plastic at me or passenger.not only is the safety an issue, but the appearance is an issue, since its a rather large crack, it looks unsightly.thanks for your time, hopefully something can be done about this popular defect that hasn't been addressed by gm yet.

Airbag light came on at 75,458 miles.

Railroad hyrail vehicle equipped, after market, with hyrail wheel assemblies which allow the vehicle to operate on railroad tracks. Once hyrail (flanged) wheels are retracted, the vehicle is operated over the highways and public roads like any other vehicle. On 7/27/12 near eagle nest, az a railroad employee was operating vehicle on the railroad tracks when it struck a standing train at 38 mph.airbags did not deploy and rail employee was killed. Concern is that the installation of hyrail wheel assemblies might be impacting the airbag sensor. The hyrail wheel assemblies extend approx. One foot of steel framework ahead of the front and rear bumpers.the placement of these assemblies might inadvertently be affecting airbag deployment in crashes on the railroad track and on public roads.

Water comes into vehicle through third stop light and causes electrical problems which makes service air bag light to turn and thiscauses vehicle to shut down my concern is air bag failure to deploy or not to deploy when needed.

I offer same complaint as filed under nhtsa id# 10485141.a service air bag warning light came on in my 2007 chevrolet silverado truck. I went to the dealer who sold it to me to have it serviced & was told the right front impact sensor was corroded & had to be replaced. This was a safety issue, and stated to dealer that gm should cover the cost of repair. The dealer said no & that there was no recall on record.i agree completely with the comments provided under above-referenced compliant: "i called gm & was told that this was an environmental issue & the salt air in my area caused the corrosion and gm was not responsible. I told the person that i was talking to that apparently gm must be aware of the problem if they know that the salt air corrodes the sensors. I mentioned the fact that since there is a problem that the air bag could possible inflate while driving & cause the driver to swerve off the road or into another vehicle thus causing death or serious injury. I was then given a file number (71-1127296694) and told the matter would be investigated. I later received a phone call from gm,said looked into complaint & since it was an environmental issue gm was not responsible for repairs. I then stated to him that i was aware that chrysler recently had a recall of vehicles to be repaired because the airbag sensors were corroding. I was told that gm. Had no such recall. My argument is that this is a safety issue. The corroded sensors could malfunction and cause the air bags to deploy thus causing the driver to swerve and potentially get into a serious accident. Chrysler corp. Must have realized this because they had a recall." this is a potentially serious situation. Please investigate. Jhb

2007 chevrolet silverado pickup truck. Consumer would like gm to buy back truck because of design flaws and suspected lemon *tgwthe consumer stated onstar activated and stated the vehicle had been in an accident.the consumer called onstar to tell them that the vehicle had not been in an accident. The operator asked the consumer were there any lights on the dash. The consumer stated the air bag light was on. The operator attempted to instruct the consumer on how to reset the light, and stated if it didn't clear within two days to call back. When the consumer put the gear into drive and started to go forward, there was a tremendous explosion, dust filled the truck and onstar came on saying the vehicle had been in an accident. They vehicle was towed to the dealership. A week later, the consumer received a call from the dealership stating the explosion was caused by a poor design in the galleys in the floor, they went from the center of the truck to the drivers side door under a rubber mate. One of the galleys went through a rubber grommet which allowed water to leak into a compartment storing very high pressure compact cylinders for the air bag and seat belts. The water caused corrosion on the high pressure cylinders and caused the explosion.also, the tailgate latch would not latch properly. The dealer found the pivots had seized. On cold starts, the transmission would hesitate and then a loud bang was heard. The dealer found a valve body bolt broken.

Safety concern with cracks in dash around passenger side airbag.

Abs does not work, light is on the dash.airbag lights are on the dash and not sure if they are working, tailgate does not latch closed. Key does not always want to turn and we need to move it back and forth before it will start the vehicle.

We have a 2007 chevrolet silverado. The problem is that all of the electrical components on the dash quits, the radio, the gauges, the air conditioner, air bags don't work, the stabilititrack is off, the traction control is off,and the truck shuts off. This is the second time it has happened but this time a message comes across the speedometerthat say engine power reduced and it is missing very bad. The first time this happened the engine did not miss and that message did not come across the screen. The problem resolved its self the first time and it has been a few months since the first time that it has happened again.

Identical to complaint # 10838479. Dash cracked on pass side to upper left hand corner of passenger air bag,

As i was pulling up to my drive way , the message on my dash display " service airbag " came on with the airbag indicator on.i took it to the dealer ship and they say they could not find and issue.up till now still have the indicator light on and message on the dash display.is this a recall known?

While driving on the interstate my airbag light came on and i am reporting it cause i drive on the interstate for work and i don't want it to explode on me driving on the interstate or get into a wreck and they don't deploy.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 49,200.

The service airbag message lighted on the dashboard followed by an explosion. Seat belts tightened and locked. The dealership verified complaint, found sdm internally shorted.needed new sdm and both front pretensioners and control module. Total cost of repair was $1445.99.

Service airbag light came on, looked in owners manual and it advised to get it serviced. I called the local chevy dealer who advised me just to drive it, "that's common" i was told.far cry from the hazards the book explains. Is there a recall on the 2007? not impressed!

Plastic dash has cracked near air bag.could lead to sharp plastic pieces from dash being sent into passenger compartment when air bag deploys.

Vehicle was involved in head on collision that totaled it. Other vehicle was an older model van, do not know extent of damages to it.my concern is the air bags did not deploywas told by gm that crash did not meet criteria for deployment!!!!!a head on collision at 50 mph that totaled 2500 series chevy truck.hard for me to believe i now own a 2008 chevy 1500 series ,do i need to concerned?

I was driving my 2007 chevrolet silverado on a highway at approximately 65 mph during a light rain shower when there was a loud bang sound similar to a shot gun blast and the seatbelt pre-tensioners pulled myself and my passenger hard back into the seats.the hazard lights began flashing immediately and the airbag sensor light came on.contacted onstar to run a diagnostic and they showed there was a collision detected which fired the seat belt pre-tensioners.there was no collision, not even a bump in the road that caused this.this was a very startling event that easily could have caused a panic reaction and an accident.there was a smell of spent gunpowder in the cabin of the vehicle after this occurred.we unlatched our seat belts to relieve the pressure against our bodies and noticed they would not retract or pull back out.they are now useless.the injury was a bruise to my left collar bone where the seatbelt retracted.the vehicle is now not safe to drive since the seat belts don't work and for fear of the airbags deploying.

This relates to the vehicle recalls related to the ignition switch this happened multiple times driving through the parking lot my vehicle would stop running completely before i knew unfortunately this was always at speed slower than5 miles per hour i did not experience this issue at traveling speeds however was very encouraged to remove the vehicle from my ownership due to this issue i had reported the issue to the car dealership as well as another auto mechanic neither of which were able to replicate the issue.

Doors continuously locking/unlocking, all dash lights continuously turning on/off, clock reset itself to 12:00, engine cutting in/out which also resulted in the loss of power steering and power brakes, all of which occurred while at freeway speed.i purchased the vehicle approximately a year and a half ago from a chevrolet dealer in sacramento, ca.since i've owned the vehicle there have been multiple occurrences of the clock resetting itself to 12:00, complete power loss when attempting to start the vehicle.

2007 chevy silverado 2500.

When getting onstar tbt navigation the route guidance is displayed in the (dic) rather than the radio display as shown in onstar commercials and dealer demos.

While driving my 2007 silverado's electrical system seems to totally shutdown just for an instant. This last time on 10/15/09, the electrical system shutdown, then came back on. I parked it shortly after and discovered my electric locks didn't work so i tried staring it, but it was dead.had to have local chevy dealer come jump it and i took it directly to the dealership to investigate. It happened again on the way there.of course, they could not duplicate the problem and said truck checked out perfectly.obviously something isn't right.i took it to a 2nd dealer the next and they said the same thing.

I have marked power train and electrical since both are involved.i was driving home from work when my truck message center indicated (reduced engine power) .this is dangerous when my vehicle is impeded from accelerating and slowing down to no more then 20 - 25 miles per hour. Since i could of interfered with the traffic and cause an accident or bodily injury to others.a recall should be made since i have noticed a lot of other vehicles have the same scenario.

2007 chevrolet silverado. Consumer writes in regards to heated side mirrors looked as if they had over heated and burned. Bubbles, singe looking and discloration had occurred on the outer case of the mirrors *tgw the consumer stated the dealer replaced both mirrors as a goodwill gesture. However, the problem resurfaced a year later on the driver's side mirror. The dealer informed the consumer, he would have to pay for the replacement mirror. The dealer felt as though the problem was caused by the car wash having a heating system that was perhaps too hot.

Noticed that cruise control did not work while driving.took vehicle to auto shop to have problem fixed, was told brake lights remained on even when brakes were not being applied (did not remain on when ignition was off), had the brake light switch replaced and problem was fixed.a few months later, a fellow drive told me that my brake lights were staying on while driving and then i noticed that the cruise control was not working again.took back to auto shop, was told that the brake light switch was ok. Took vehicle to gm dealership and was told that the body control module needs to be replaced.i did some research and noticed that gm had a recall in may 2014 for passenger cars with similar problems.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado lt. The contact stated the throttle would stick anytime he attempted to release the pedal. The vehicle slows down very slowly. The engine continues to run at 800-100 rpm's until the brake is applied to stop the vehicle. The consumer also stated while stopped at a traffic light or a stop sign, the engine would occasionally speed up to approximately 1800 rpm's.the consumer also stated a new engine was installed on april 11, 2001 due to a faulty oil pump.the throttle body and engine control module were replaced twice, the hbac control module, oil deflector, purge valve and canister, maf sensor, wiring harness, speed sensor, co2 sensor, 175 amp fuse box, transmission control module and under hood wiring were all replaced. An engineer from general motors has worked on this vehicle at all three dealerships and has not been able to repair the problem.the manufacturer was contacted and they offered little assistance. The failure mileage was 46,000.updated 06/22/11updated 07/08/11updated 3/8/12

I am a fire investigator working for an insurance company.i recently investigated a fire loss involving a 2007 chevy silverado classic which originated beneath the bench seat and involved the electrical wiring, which is attached to the driver side of the seat.fortunately the 85 year old owner of the vehicle was not in the truck at the time of the fire.

I have had to replace two door locks on the driver side door since purchase this vehicle brand new.i have had the vehicle lost function of the air control unit and then reset months later.i have taken the vehicle in once to program the computer and air control unit, which has gone out twice and then returned back to the correct functional air setting months later after supposedly programed while under warranty.just recently it has started to give me a check engine light which states the ignition switch is having the wrong key, and the vehicle has been giving me other warnings with traction control, check gas cap, and the radio time clock resets itself.i had to replace a battery in this vehicle in it's 3rd year. Is this vehicle in trouble as all the other problems general motors have had???

Dashboard light flickering. Abs,tire pressure, and air bag lights come on and off. Radio comes on and off. Did this for 40 miles constantly. Outside light working fine. Signal light would not work inside, but were working outside. Gauges (fuel, speedometer, throttle, etc) would stop working or would stick on whatever reading they were on when the flicker happens.

Vehicle has dual air condition (a/c) controls. The driver side starts blowing hot (heater hot) air all of a sudden. The passenger side is okay, stays cold. Even when the a/c is turned off it still blows hot air. Even with the windows open, it is still hot air coming out of the vents; like as if theheater is on. Close the vents but still blows hot. Have to stop a few minutes and something must reset because it works okay for a while. Sometimes have to stop several times to get home or pull off to the side of the road. I live and drive in south texas... It gets 105 in the shade... 120 in a vehicle. I decided to file this because i have read on the internet many others have this same problem and now a friend of my wife's has the same problem on her chevrolet. This is an opportunity to fix something that i believe is a design issue. To be proactive and not reactive before an accident occurs. The heat causes severe distraction. Especially if someone in the vehicle is young, elderly, ill etc. The driver is forced to keep driving. I filed a complaint with chevrolet on 3/4/2014. Was called back and told they could not help and to report this to nhtsa.

While driving in the rain, certain electrical components will completely shut down. The components consists of the door lock, gps, radio, windows, air controls, all dash gauges, etc.in addition, several different service warnings will start flashing including which will include "service air bag", "service tire monitor, "service engine",etc.this has happened to me twice, once at 50,000 miles and just today at 56,000. The first time it happened, the dealership said it was because of a computer located under the carpet beneath the driver seat that was getting moisture in it. They cut a slit in the carpet to let it "air out" and charged me $350.00. I later found out that it was a recall issue. But even with the carpet cutting 'fix', it appears to still be happening.

While driving at highway speeds the interior lights began flickering on the dash and in the cabin. Approximately 45 seconds to one minute after the initial dash and light issues the check engine light came on and a notice of battery charging failure occurred, within a few seconds of this occurrence i began to slow down and pull over. The engine shut off before this could occur. By the time i coaxed the vehicle onto the shoulder the electrical system and door locks were no longer working. Smoke and flames began to enter the cockpit and i immediately exited the vehicle. The interior of the vehicle was fully engulfed in less than a minute and the entire truck, bed, and gas tank soon followed. The truck was completely consumed and is now a total loss.

On may 26 2008 my chevy silverado wires caught on fire i was able to get it put out pretty quickwith only a minor burn to my finger but gm does not want to admit there is a problem with the truck they cant say why it happened there trying to blame it on me i hope you can look into this so maybe if there is a problem with there trucks some one don't get hurt of die.

I've had issues with my truck from the beginning. You can say it's a lemoni had the truck for less than a year and had to have the transmission repaired, radio doesn't work, window does work, back window slider doesn't work.all lights are going on. I should not have all this issues for this truck. That's why bought a new truck.

Battery charging at incorrect / inconsistent levels, the gage will show battery charging at 15 or higher and suddenly change to 11 or lower.vehicle has been at the dealership for service and the mechanics either do not check it or fail to acknowledge the issue. Today the dealer provided a bulletin stating that this is normal. This bulletin is dated july 2008; however the vehicle has been in the service department several times since for this issue. Additional issue is the back up warning feature; the vehicle has sensors that notify the driver when the vehicle is too close to an object, the sensors either fail to work altogether or signals the driver when it is too late.have nearly backed up into people / other vehicles, to date no accidents. But the vehicle size it is difficult to know when an object is behind it; or how close it is.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado.the contact stated the windshield wipers would continuously fail without warning. He located a recall for the failure (nhtsa campaign id number: 10v240000-electrical system) but was unable to confirm if his vehicle was included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The current and failure mileages were approximately 72,000.

2007 chevrolet silverado z71, 18,355 miles still under factory warranty.driving down the road today at 45 mph, a/c on high since it was 90 degree's out and out of no where the cab starts filling up with smoke and a burning plastic smell coming from the passenger side vents and from under the dash on the passenger side. I quickly pulled over shut the truck off, took the keys out of the ignition, popped the hood and noticed the a/c was still on as i was getting out. I looked under the hood seen nothing. I went to the passenger side opened the glove compartment and smoke started rolling. A passer by stopped and luckily had a socket set so i asked to use it to disconnect the battery to get the a/c to shut off. The fire department arrived the same time the gentleman got back from getting his socket set out of his car and the fire department disconnected the battery for me as i was throwing my belongings out of the truck in attempt to save them from a fire. The smoke stopped when the battery was disconnected and the a/c shut off. I contacted the dealer since the truck is still under the factory warranty, they towed it in and said that this is a common problem in 2006-2009 gm fullsize suv's & trucks. The blower motors burn up. I asked why they haven't been recalled and the service guy said he wasn't sure. They replaced the blower motor, blower resistor and connector. The old parts were literally melted and were actually on fire. If i would not have thought to disconnect the battery the entire truck would have been burned or suffered serious water damage from the fire department. This could be life threatening to people who do not know to unhook the battery or people who panic in situations like this. I pray this does not happen to an elderly person or anyone else for that matter. Gm needs to put out a recall regarding these issues. I have researched this issue on the web and found hundreds of these same exact complaints. Does it take a death before gm recalls these parts.

Starting to get onto a highway and pulled into a gas station the speedometer got stuck at 40mph and would not go to zero when stopped but when started moving again it acted like 40 mph was the starting point and would not return to zero.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado which was purchased used on august 25, 2007. She stated that the vehicle would steer on its on to the left or right without warning while driving at any speeds over 10 mph. The steering wheel would not move while this was happening, only the vehicle itself. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure.the failure persisted and vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer made repairs to the tires, tow in and tow out mechanisms, and performed a wheel alignment, to no avail. No repairs were made to date to correct the actual failure. The contact was concerned about the safety risk since a potential crash could occur.the failure mileage was 6,000 and the current was 35,000. On my 2007 silverado i am constantly having to take it in to get serviced for traction control and service stabilitrak. My active fuel management lifters are also not functioning properly. This happens when i am making turns. The vehicle will lose control and it feels very dangerous.my brakes are constantly being replaced and i feel like there is some major issues when the vehicle was built.

Occasionally when down-shifting to stop engine rpm stays at about 1,500 rpm or accelerates. Onstar said crankshaft speed sensor defective. Dealer unable to duplicate.went through a controlled intersection three times due to this, lucky no traffic a factor. I now put into neutral at stops.

For the past year 1/2 the service stabilitrak / service traction control lights have been coming on followed by hard shifts and now i'm scared to drive it for my own safety and others on the roads ! i've spent over $2000 on trying to fix this problem with no prevail !! very aggravated by this problem and nobody including the dealership can tell me why it's doing this ! i really need help on this problem cause i have 2 small children that i'm scared for them to ride in the truck ! help me and the millions of others i've seen with this very same problem and chevrolet has issued no ! recalls on this !!? now the problem seems to be getting worse cause before the lights would come on randomly and stay on a few minutes and everything would go back to normal , but now they stay on all the time and the hard shifting from 1 and 2 follow always ! unreal !

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that the air bag and the check engine warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the air bag sensor and fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, however the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. Updated 04/22/16*lj

Multiple broken exhaust manifold bolts.

Defective exhaust manifold bolts. The bolt heads are breaking off of my 2007 chevy silverado crew cab truck. This is a well maintained lightly used truck i use for work. After discovering the problem, i went to the internet to search solutions on this problem and that's how i found out that this is a very big problem with thistruck engine. There is no tsb on this or a recall, but there should be, engines affected are all v-8's from 4.8l, 5.3l, and 6.0l. Very expensive repair that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado.the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning.the contact also stated that the air bag light illuminated. After buying my truck i noticed a "tick" noise from the exhaust on my truck. After taking my truck to the shop i was told that my exhaust bolts into the engine were broken. This in hand made me fail the emission test and costing me alot of money. After research it is stated in many places that this is a common occurrence with these chevy models, and chevy refuses to do anything about polluting the environment and costing it owners money in thing that should not break ever.

Excessive oil consumption--1qt every 900 to 1000 miles.

While merging onto the express way i had a major loss of power and a slight shake in my silverado.multiple engine lights came on (stability track, traction control, and blinking engine light).on my way to the nearest gm dealer, at every stop light the truck lacked power to get going when the peddle was pushed, then it would kick in and screech the tires.after leaving the truck at the dealer, i receive phone call from the dealer the following day stating that the lifter (afm lifter) had malfunctioned and was stuck.i asked what causes this (because my truck only has about 39,700 miles on it), and the dealer stated it was "an issue with the design of the engine."i then researched the internet (gm forums, social media, nhtsa) to find out that this is a huge issue.many owners had the bad lifter replaced under warranty, only to have a different lifter go bad.i decided to have the dealer replace all my lifters, because that is what they recommended and they admitted there is a good chance i would be back in for the same issue on the other lifters if i didn't replace them.the dealer contacted gm to see if any of my repair could be covered under the powertrain warranty because i only have 39,700 miles on it, but my truck was 8 years old so they said they wouldn't.i contact gm to see if i could directly get anything covered seeing i only had 39,700 miles, plus bought an extended warranty that just expired last year.i was transferred through 5 different representatives that all admitted that the lifter failure is "an issue, but not a recall."if they know its an issue, the dealers know its an issue, its a extremely common issue all across the internet, why wont gm take care of it?my silverado cost over $45,000 when new, you think it should last well over 100,000 miles with no engine problems.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the service stability track and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle started shaking abnormally. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic for a diagnostic test. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and the dealer stated cam shaft and lifters malfunctioned in the engine. The dealer did not repair the cam shaft and lifters. The failure mileage was 140,000.the vin was not available.

I took my new chevy truck into the dealer for some new factory equipment (bug deflector and bed liner) to be installed by them. While the dealer had my 2007 chevy truck they loaded 2008 power train software into it's computer without my permission. The 2008 software changed the way my truck runs. The power train now has a speed limiter on it and the stability control was changed. It will not go as fast it as use to go before the change. I was told by the dealer and gm they would not put my truck back the way it was as when i bought it. They told me that the reason was the goodyear tires and the truck design were unsafe without the 2008 software installed and would not change my truck back to the 2007 configration . I have not gotten any recall or safety notices about this issue. I think gm and the dealer made a mistake and do not want to correct it. If there is a problem with the tires (goodyear wrangler tires) and the 2007 truck design (gm silverado 1500 lts crew cab) gm is trying to cover it up. There are hundreds of thousands of 2007 gm trucks, cars, suv's even cadillac's that have the same power train in them that my truck has and they are not changing the computer programs in all those vehicles. I was told they would be changed only if the trucks, suv's and cars were brought in for any kind of service work, but would not be changed if not serviced by gm. Sense there have been no recall notices about these issues i think gm is trying to cover something up . The very least trying to cover up their dealers and there mistake by altering my truck without my permission or they do have a serious problem that the public should be aware of. Please look into this. The same tires are on fords and dodges and they don't software limit there performance. I paid top dollar for gm's best truck with the biggest engine made for it, i could have saved a lot of money by buying a six cylinder engine instead of the big v-8. If i knewgm was going to de-rate mine.

Upon driving the engine began making extreme noise and major loss of power. Multiple engine lights came on and backfire through exhaust. Contacted chevy dealer and dropped off for diagnosis. Problem was active fuel management lifter failure. (please take note that this issue is all over the internet and social media) this problem is happening to a high volume of silverado truck manufactured after 2007 with afm. Chevrolet has bulletins on the issue but will not recall to replace all afm lifters. They only replace the lifters that fail. This causes issues later when additional lifters fail. If all aafm lifters (8) would be replaced at the same time consumers wouldn't be complaining via social media and internet. Chevrolet acknowledges the problem but refuses to recall. Reason for refusal is it seems to happen around 50,000 miles and above and after the repair they hope that the issue happens after the 100,000 mile warranty when repairs are paid for by consumers costing thousands of dollars. I personally have read of this happening and had it happen just recently. Gm refuses to back their product although they recognize the problem. Bulletins have been issued but i was told that the nhtsa makes the call after enough complaints are filed by consumers. People just don't know this and i am requesting you urgently look into this issue. Catastrophic engine failure can result costing consumers a lot of money. We are just the little guy up against a large automobile manufacturer. We need your assistance in forcing gm to issue a recall on these vehicles with the active fuel management. Our hands are tied because of this. We request that if there is a afm lifter failure that all lifters be replaced instead of the ones that failed. This is only logical especially when gm knows there is a problem. Please help us the consumer.

I've had issues with my truck from the beginning. You can say it's a lemoni had the truck for less than a year and had to have the transmission repaired, radio doesn't work, window does work, back window slider doesn't work.all lights are going on. I should not have all this issues for this truck. That's why bought a new truck.

The indication at this point to rearward vehicles is that a partial braking situation does not exist and that my vehicle is either coasting or under some level of power. On occasion this has caused vehicles behind me to panic stop, thankfully successfully, when they otherwise would have been aware of my intentions had my brake lights properly indicated my partial brake application.

I am getting a noticeable vibration in the drive train at about 45 mph. It finally subsides at around 55 mph. I have had the oil level checked in the transmission and the rear end oil checked. All is ok in those areas. On 10/18/2010 returning home from vacation, my right front wheel assembly suffered severe internal failure. The dealer in south carolina repaired my vehicle, and covered the expense of the replacement part and labor under the powertrain warranty. They also had to replace the front brake pads and resurfaced the rotors which were damaged to the severe internal failure of the wheel hub assembly. I can understand the malfunction of the part, it happens. But, on 12/17/2010 the left front wheel assembly suffered internal failure, again the dealer covered the expense of the replacement part and labor under the powertrain warranty. I believe their must be a problem for both front wheel hub assemblies to fail, i only have under 30,000 miles on the vehicle. Thank you.

Last fall 10/14 replaced all brake lines due to corrosion (97000 miles). Which has been mentioned numerous times already. After that abs light came on intermittently lost brakes last week to it to the shop they had it for the day everything worked fine. Continued driving light started coming back on & brakes were erratic. Yesterday was pulling out of parking lot had no brakes. If these are known problems why isn't anyone taking care of it. Why you would put untreated brake lines on a vehicle in the salt districts is beyond me. I had an 1989 oldsmobile with the original line on it til 198,000 miles. I also replaced the transmission at 77,000 miles due to corrosion of the lines.($2700)

Vehicle is parked in garage overnight, get in to start ,shift lever in park, turn on key, vehicle's transmission sends out a "clunk", as if to engage and go forward or backward. This type of action started around 8000 miles as a slight, "clunk" extending into 49000 miles with a hard jarring"clunk". Of course i took it to dealerin the course of the warranty ,had them note and record defect, however dealer could not get vehicle to perform this operation while in their possession which extended over night and sometimes 2 nights. While the vehicle does not do this on a regular basis,it is notably getting a harder sounding, more pronounced "clunk". The shifting noise of the transmission is becoming evident, that is in low speed there is more rough clunking as the transmission goes through it's gears.

Thump after coming to a stop. After about 24,000 miles. I started feeling a light thump from the rear, as if someone bumped me from behind. Over the next few weeks it became very noticeable, so i took it to the dealer for investigation. The 1st time, they said the rear-end had the wrong lube in it & they replaced it. This seem to work for the next several weeks. Then the thump returned lightly at 1st & gradually worsened to a major thump. I returned it to the dealer & this second repair was that the lubed the rear-end & replaced the yoke on the driveshaft. This repair worked for about a week & i started feeling the light thump again. I took it back in again, left it all day & they apparently drove it around the parking lot & couldn't duplicate the problem. One of the service managers rode with me, around the parking lot & the problem wouldn't show up. It has since worsened again & i will take it back in once the problem gets a little worse.

Hydroboost lines leaking/seepinglower transmission line leaking

I have marked power train and electrical since both are involved.i was driving home from work when my truck message center indicated (reduced engine power) .this is dangerous when my vehicle is impeded from accelerating and slowing down to no more then 20 - 25 miles per hour. Since i could of interfered with the traffic and cause an accident or bodily injury to others.a recall should be made since i have noticed a lot of other vehicles have the same scenario.

Gm has a design and/or manufacturing flaw in the transmission lines on the 2500hd. I have had mine replaced under warranty once, and need to have them replaced again. They only leak in cold weather when the rubber in the line shrinks at the crimp causing them to leak. The danger here is the fire potential. Due to the diesel regeneration process that burns off the diesel particulate filter and the heats it to extreme temperatures this has a potential fire risk. Gm refuses to address the leaky transmission lines. There are multiple accounts of this issue, on several year models of durmax pickups, on the internet. Additional concerns here are how acidic transmission oil is. It also has potential to deteriorate rubber steering components boots ball joint covers, etc. This is safety concern.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado.the contact heard a noise coming from the automatic transmission and the vehicle was hesitant to shift into gear.the dealer repaired the vehicle under warranty.the failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer.they stated that there was an issue with the vehicle and notified the manufacturer.the manufacturer advised the dealer not to make any further repairs until the transmission actually failed.the dealer obeyed the manufacturer.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were less than 20,000.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado c1500.when attempting to accelerate the vehicle at 10 mph, the contact heard a loud clunking and revving noise as if it were downshifting or upshifting.the dealer speculated that the transmission was the cause of the failure.the technician referenced tsb number 10022769, but there was no current remedy.the contact is in the process of notifying the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 37,000 and current mileage was 41,000.

Hesitation on acceleration.while merging onto an interstate highway pressed the accelerator to rapidly increase speed but the vehicle hesitated causing me to have to continue down the shoulder and actually stop to avoid a stalled vehicle on the shoulder.i have taken my vehicle to two different dealers to investigate the hesitation on acceleration both have stated that this is normal operation for the 2007 chevrolet silverado.although i didn't have an accident with this particular incident i have noticed this hesitation during normal day to day driving.this is a safety issue.

Chevy silverado 2007, the transmission jerks when stopped at a light. As if someone has bumped you from behind. It takes several seconds (5-20) for it to occur. This is the same problem i read by another member. My "07" silverado does the same thing. This problem started at about 20,000 miles. Truck has been to the shop 3 times, 1st they lubed the axle, 2nd they replaced the driveshaft yoke, 3rd time1 week later they couldn't duplicate the problem . So now the problem still exist. I will be taking it back to see what`s next.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. While parked, the vehicle rolled away. Upon further inspection, the contact noticed that the emergency brake fractured and multiple warning lights were illuminated. The contact also stated that there were multiple messages displayed across the message board. In addition, the contact stated that the seat belt failed to buckle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failures recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 60,000.

The drives seat belt buckle will not latch. Part # 19121537

The service airbag message lighted on the dashboard followed by an explosion. Seat belts tightened and locked. The dealership verified complaint, found sdm internally shorted.needed new sdm and both front pretensioners and control module. Total cost of repair was $1445.99.

Latch failed would not latch. If i was in an accident i could have injured .i would think the seat belts would last longer than 5 years.

The passenger seat belt locks in position to where the passenger cannot move and will tighten more until the seatbelt is removed and reattached. This is having to be done numerous times while the vehicle is in motion. The dealer has replaced the belt 3 times but has not corrected the problem. Gm is now saying that the belt is designed that way because of car seats possibly being placed in that position.their other answer was to add a seatbelt extension to help the problem. This moves the belt to a very unsafe position on the passenger body. The connection of the lap belt and the shoulder belt is almost in the middle of the passenger body pushing the shoulder belt over the arm rather than the shoulder. We will not use this device.this has not caused an accident or injury but if the passenger is removing their belt every 30 min. While the vehicle is in motion it could have bad results.

When stopping quickly to avoid a deer, the brake line leading to the rear wheels failed.luckily i did not hit the deer but if it was pedestrian or another vehicle later in the trip there would have been fatality.there are numerous reports of these rusty brake lines failing.my truck 8 years old with <72,000 miles. I live in the very bottom of the "snow belt".my mechanic says he sees multiples of these every month.he has a note attached to the lift for directions on connections because he does it so often. I lost all brake fluid to the ground and had no brakes!i had a 12,000 # trailer behind me.thankfully this trailer has great brakes of its own or i would have never stopped (was on a downhill)

While driving to the doctors office the service brake light came on and i had no brakes on the rear wheels.upon inspection of the fluid reservoir, i found it to be empty. After carefully getting it home i found the brake line to the rear brakes to be rusted through. On further inspection, all of the lines under the truck are very badly rusted.

Lost braking power when trying to stop. Was able to make a complete stop without running all the way into the intersection. Drove home carefully and called dealer. Dealer service said one brake line was completely rusted in two and the other one was just about to.

Brake failure due to corroded brake pipes.

The brakes failed due to rusted lines.there was no pressure on the brake pedal and the vehicle needed to be stopped using parking brake.mechanic said that this is not the first one he has seen.extremely unsafe condition.

Brakes failed at stop sign.got truck back home and it has faulty brake lines

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado.the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the brakes failed.the brake pedal was fully depressed and the vehicle failed to stop.the emergency brake had to be engaged in order to stop the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the abs light illuminated on the dashboard. The contact noticed that the brakes and rotors were wearing excessively due to a defective hub senor that controlled the braking system. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer to have the hub sensor and brake bearing replaced three times. None of the repairs remedied the issue with the braking system. The contact called the manufacturer regarding nhtsa campaign i.d. 07e106000 (wheels:cap/cover/hub). The manufacturer advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 88,000.

Tl - the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. The contact received rear brake recall number 14459 from the manufacturer. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer; however, they failed to properly install the cable onto the rear brakes and when the brake pedal was engaged the vehicle failed to stop while driving approximately 65 mph. The contact was only able to stop the vehicle by applying excessive and continuous force to the brake pedal. The dealer was notified about the cable; however, they have not responded to the contacts request. After the recall repair was performed the front brake warning clip made a grinding and squealing sound. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 137,184. Rk

I began hearing a grinding sound in the front end. Upon removing the tires and rear brake drums i noticed the left front brake pads and the right rear brake shoes showed excessive wear. I know that combination disk/drum brakes use a proportioning valve to adjust hydraulic pressure. I also know that newer systems are dual circuit with one front and one rear wheel on each circuit. I feel my proportioning valve is either misadjusted or malfunctioning applying greater pressure to one circuit over the other. This could cause swerving or a spin out under heavy braking situations.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. While driving at approximately 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to stop the vehicle. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic using the parking brake to stop. It was diagnosed that the brake lines were rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. While traveling at about 25 mph a light application of the brake was followed by the brake pedal going completely to the floor.an investigation revealed a ruptured brake line in the area of the brake control valve.after being towed to the dealer i was advised that all the brake lines were severely corroded and needed to be replaced.i bought the truck new and was very concerned to find that my brake lines had failed with only 82,800 miles on the truck and only 6 years old.brake lines should last the life of the vehicle.this was a serious life threatening failure.

It has not happened yet but all brake lines under truck are corroded real bad.i am worried that i will loose brakes at anytime.i have had to replace steering box and power steering pump because of rust.i only have 48000 miles on truck, why is this happening?

The vehicle was traveling on holsey road approaching the intersection of holsey road and ridge road.the brakes suddenly failed when depressed to stop the vehicle, and the pedal went down to the floor with no brake control.the brakes had been working perfectly before the incident, and there was no warning of an impending failure.

Driving at 30 miles an hour brakes failed due to rusted rear brake line. Chevrolet dealer (palm chevrolet of punta gorda florida) said this was normal wear & tear and that all the brake lines needed replaced due to rust. They charged $343. For just 1 brake line. They would not honor a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty that i purchased with the vehicle for $1,200. Truck is only 5 years old with 39700 miles on it.

Coming home from car wash brake pedal felt spongy.pulling into driveway the pedal went to the floor. Looked under truck and saw puddle of brake fluid on ground by left rear wheel. Brake line going to rear brakes had ruptured from major rust. Upon further inspection i found brake and fuel lines suffer frommajor rust and will need to be replaced asap.

Abs sensor reads incorrectly and triggers the abs system to kick in every time the brakes are used, causing the brake pedal to rumble and giving the sensation of brake failure when the pedal goes soft under your foot.this is worse when turning left. Extra distance is required for braking at all times.abs warning light comes on at random times for no apparent reason.

Abs does not work, light is on the dash.airbag lights are on the dash and not sure if they are working, tailgate does not latch closed. Key does not always want to turn and we need to move it back and forth before it will start the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado.while driving 35 mph on normal road conditions, the contact depressed the brake pedal and heard a loud grinding noise and vibration.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle has not been repaired.the contact was concerned of the safety risk involved.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet k1500.the contact stated that the abs would fail intermittently with the illumination of the warning light. The contact disconnected the abs wire so that the warning light would no longer illuminate.the manufacturer was not contacted and the vehicle was not repaired.the failure and the current mileage was 76,000.

2007 chevy silverado problems with the brake controller. Consumer states that the brake controller on the trailer was inoperative. Mechanic told him that the brake controller was not working as designed.the consumer stated he purchasedthe truck for the purpose of towing his new fifth wheel he just purchased. The consumer further stated at the time of purchase he informed the sales representative the purpose of the truck and optional integrated braking system was discussed.the consumer was informed that the controller was working as designed, however the system was incompatible with certain types of trailer brakes.

The front wheel hubs and bearings, including wheel speed sensors, are failing on these pickups.this is, apparently, a known issue and gm refuses to do anything about it.why not?this is a blatant safety issue.

My 2007 silverado has the same brake problem that was a recall on older model silverado's. The nhtsa campaign number for the previous recall was 05v379000. It appears the canadian transportation board ordered a recall for the 2007 models but the nhtsa has not. Is this something being looked into?

Started hearing noises from the brakes, took to shop, and was told it was not under warranty even though there are only 30,000 miles on it.they had to turn the rotors.also tires are falling apart.another issues is with the 4 wheel drive it doesn't engage properly.

The dash board cracked around the passenger airbag. I would think this would affect how the airbag deploys. Gm will not replace the dash, only cover half the expense. They know this is an issue as they have added reinforcements in the area of the dash the cracks.

I noticed when i got into my vehicle that there was a crack on the passenger side dash, right above the airbag. This can't be safe! if the airbag were to deploy, then what is to stop the rest of the dash to explode apart like shrapnel causing injury to some in the vehicle. I am afraid for my passengers safety! about a week later found another crack on the driver's side of the dash. I have done some research and there are hundreds of others who have experienced the same problems! also, their pictures posted on social media show the cracks are in the same locations as that of my dash. I honestly believe that this problem is due to poor design and cheap constructed parts. Gm should be held accountable and rectify these issues before someone gets injured or even worse. Here is a link to the social media group page which is only about this issue: [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Dash board is cracking by air bag and continues to crack above instrument cluster. Concerned about shrapnel if air bag where to deploy causing more injury.

Cracks with sharp edges around passenger side airbag and dash.

Water comes into vehicle through third stop light and causes electrical problems which makes service air bag light to turn and thiscauses vehicle to shut down my concern is air bag failure to deploy or not to deploy when needed.

The water caused corrosion on the high pressure cylinders and caused the explosion.also, the tailgate latch would not latch properly. The dealer found the pivots had seized. On cold starts, the transmission would hesitate and then a loud bang was heard. The dealer found a valve body bolt broken.

Rust on the undercarrage. Frame is showing surface rust spots. Parts of the body panels are showing rust.

Abs does not work, light is on the dash.airbag lights are on the dash and not sure if they are working, tailgate does not latch closed. Key does not always want to turn and we need to move it back and forth before it will start the vehicle.

Cracked dash near my air bag provide a big hazard. I have other cracks around my dashboard also, but the thing that scares me the most is the cracks by my airbag. I could lead to pices of sharp plastic flying to my passenger if the air bag ever goes off. Please we need a recall.

3-4 rust areas. 2-3 roof above wind shield. Major being driver side next too brake lite on roof. Rust area is approx. Size of silver dollar thru roof. I have filled this area with bondo and repainted. Similar situation occurred to friend. Situation cost him approx. $3k to fix electrical problem resulting from this as stated by chevdealer dare cty.

I have been having a problem with exterior door handles breaking off.this has happened to me 3 times on my 2007 chevy silverado pick up truck.if you need to pull a little hard on the door handle to open the door because it has snow or ice on it (or it is just locked), it breaks off.the handles are made of plastic.my safety concern is this:if i am in an accident and unable to open the door myself, a rescue person may grab the handle a little too hard and it breaks off, thus they will be unable to get me out of the car quickly.i have ask gm if there were any recalls on this and they said no.like i said i have replaced the handles 3 times and the truck has less than 50000 miles on it.

Third brakelight leaks water into the cab of the truck rusting out frame and damaging electrical components. Apparent on going problem with many online complaints-time to open a recall!

Plastic dash has cracked near air bag.could lead to sharp plastic pieces from dash being sent into passenger compartment when air bag deploys.

Silverado 2007 truckcracks just keep appearing in dash in airbag section for no reason.truck is parked in garage 80 percent of time.if cracks keep appearing, what is going to keep airbag from coming out of dash for no reason?this truck is 6 years old with 62,000 miles on it very clean and the dash looks awful.have contacted chevrolet and they say no recalls, please tell me why?

2007 chevrolet silverado 1500 - driver side interior door handle aluminum casting broke during use. Impossible to open door from the inside. Could be fatal in the event of a serious accident.

While i had my truck in for service it was pointed out to me the rust that was on the frame and on the fuel line. Thought i should file in case of any other complaints have been noted on this year vehicle. 2007 chevrolet silverado.

Rust on the undercarrage. Frame is showing surface rust spots. Parts of the body panels are showing rust.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while at the dealer for routine maintenance, the technician stated that the front rock arm and ball joints exhibited excessive wear. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

A leaf spring on the driver side of the vehicle broke.noticed leaf spring rattling when pulling into a parking lot.a few months later the same leaf spring broke on the passenger side of the vehicle.

Started hearing noises from the brakes, took to shop, and was told it was not under warranty even though there are only 30,000 miles on it.they had to turn the rotors.also tires are falling apart.another issues is with the 4 wheel drive it doesn't engage properly.

We purchased this vehicle new from a dealer.the truck now has approx. 14,000 miles and the tires need to be replaced.after taking it to a mechanic i was told that this make has some issues that cause the tire to wear down on the inside.i should not have to replace the tires at 14,000 miles.dealership gave answers like depends on driver, road conditions, etc.none of these explain the premature wear of this tire.i am not alone in this problem.

Company has a 2005 and 2007 chevrolet light trucks.we have experienced problems on both trucks with the spare tire hoist.one truck had to b towed because the hoist would not operate.the dealer, harvey's in shawnee, ok told me that my problem was common on chevrolet and gmc light trucks. As of this date this problem has cost us over $300.

2007 chevrolet silverado. Consumer states spare tire fell out and flew 20 feet in the air *tgwthe consumer stated upon retrieving the tire, he discovered that the mounting bracket had severed, which caused the tire to fall off.the consumer set up an appointment to have the problem diagnosed. The official diagnoses was that the spare tire was installed backwards therefore causing the mount to sever. The consumer stated he had not touched the spare tire since he purchased the vehicle.

Dashboard cracking everywhere.

Dashboard has cracked in three areas at passengers airbag location and over radio and instrument cluster. Evidently this is not an isolated incident. I have two trucks in this condition and the internet suggests that there are thousands across the nation. Estimate to repair 1000.00 each!

Excessive oil consumption - truck runs out of oil every 2500 miles. Change it regularly. No leaks or blue smoke.

Dashboard cracks in three different locations. As known by many other owners in the same locations. I am afraid if involved in an accident the airbags would cause dashboard to come apart flying into the cabin causing bodily injury to passengers.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. The contact was traveling 30 mph on a two lane road when the accelerator pedal was engaged, when the gas pedal was released the vehicle continued to accelerate. The speed increased up to 80 mph before the vehicle would stop. The accelerator pedal appeared to be stuck causing the contact to turn the vehicle off; however, the vehicle continued to accelerate. The contact turned the vehicle back on and off again before it began coasting to a stop. The contact took the vehicle into the dealer and was told that they were unable to diagnose the failure.when the contact drove the vehicle home, the abs light came on. The failure and current mileages were 8900.

Roof support and exterior rear-view mirrors combine to create a wide blind spot on both driver and passenger sides. On the date mentioned, i nearly ran over a pedestrian as he was in the driver's side blind spot and as he walked across the street, remained in that area until i was almost on top of him. On many subsequent dates, i have had cars appear from 'no where' due to being in that area when i approach an intersection. I firmly believe this blind spot contributed to the death of a teenage girl driving a similar truck, she was killed at an intersection north of lyndon, kansas.

Passenger rear window falling out due to warped window frame. Had to replace entire window because the frame is hooked to the window.

I was currently at plainview texas, 2007 chevrolet silverado, unable to drive due to rain, had to stop to wait for rain to go away, wipers fell to work during cold weather. Both wiper froze causing them not to work, had to stop at different stores to check if there was something wrong. Once we enter el paso tx started to work. Not safe to drive on a cold weather, wipers should be able to work in any type of weather, i was in dangerous driving along with my 2 daughters and husband.

2007 chevrolet silverado. Wiper blades ice up during cold snowy weather, causing poor visibility and it is very difficult to remove the ice. Checked parts store and gm dealer for artic/winter blades and they are not available. Creates very dangerous conditions during snow.

The front wheel hubs and bearings, including wheel speed sensors, are failing on these pickups.this is, apparently, a known issue and gm refuses to do anything about it.why not?this is a blatant safety issue.

My front wheel bearings failed on both sides. I looked at the internet and found many 06/07 gm front wheel bearing failures, also many friends and neighbors had the same failures. To me this a serious safety problem as the wheel can come off.

Autonation toyota in arlington, tx failed to tighten one of my wheels after servicing it. I was traveling on the highway at 70mph when my wheel became totally disconnected from the rotor. The technician who was responsible for this told me that his was the 2nd time this has happened at this particular dealership. Autonation toyota is putting their customers and other drivers at risk and in danger.

For the past year 1/2 the service stabilitrak / service traction control lights have been coming on followed by hard shifts and now i'm scared to drive it for my own safety and others on the roads ! i've spent over $2000 on trying to fix this problem with no prevail !! very aggravated by this problem and nobody including the dealership can tell me why it's doing this ! i really need help on this problem cause i have 2 small children that i'm scared for them to ride in the truck ! help me and the millions of others i've seen with this very same problem and chevrolet has issued no ! recalls on this !!? now the problem seems to be getting worse cause before the lights would come on randomly and stay on a few minutes and everything would go back to normal , but now they stay on all the time and the hard shifting from 1 and 2 follow always ! unreal !

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado.the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the anti-lock braking system warning indicator illuminated. The contact noticed that the front drivers side tire and wheel had become detached from the vehicle.as a result, the contact crashed and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the wheel hub assembly failed.the vehicle was not repaired.
