Ongoing/intermitent problemwith ignition switch not being able to turn off unless consumer moves signal lever. Dealer/ manufacturer were not notified at this time.

The contact owns a 1994 chevrolet silverado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, she noticed that the temperature gauge displayed that the engine was overheating. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the radiator would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. 1994 chevy silverado k2500 v8 heating system is faulty and after use it catches on fire. Causing a safety concern to yourself and those around you. After the vehicle was serviced for recall on brake light switch, vehicle has been experiencing ongoing problems with the brake system. Consumer stated vehicle was running without warranty ,and dealer charged every time when the brake lights were on.
Dealer refusing to honor manufacturer's recall concerning brake light switch.also,dealer will not give consumer any information concerning other recalls. Asking nhtsa help in this matter or provide me with other instruction. The owner of the vehicle received a second recall on the same problem but unable to get it done for over a year.

The lenses are the single piece narrow plastic version. We have them on three trucks. They have never projected the light properly and are now "fogging" up where the plastic lens seems to be deteriorating making the available light much poorer.

The pump has been replaced 5 times, and now out of warranty, they say nothing can be done about it, we will just have to pay ourselves. It has been a continued problem, and feel the company should fix the problem again before someone gets badly hurt or is killed.since there is no warning, and can die, just like you are turning the engine off.please help.we wanted this note on record before something bad happens. We can not afford to buy a new or different truck, or afford to keep replacing these pumps.

Thefuel line that comes from the fuel injection system to the fuel tank (between the firewall and the floor pan) has been cut by asharp piece of metal, which causes the fuel to run out. Both fuel lines has been replaced by owner.

This vehicle has been in our family since it was new, originally owned by my father. One of the major concerns when purchasing the diesel engine for this vehicle was whether or not we were going to encounter costly repairs down the road. The five year/100,000 mile warranty on the engine and its components was taunted heavily by the salesperson, giving us the impression that chevrolet really stood by this engine. Thus, it was purchased, and oh what a mistake we made. I just retrieved my vehicle from the dealer after paying nearly $1600.00 to have the third after market fuel injection pump installed. The pump suddenly decided to quit working while i was driving 68 mph on interstate 71 in columbus, ohio. During this shutdown while driving in the middle lane, i encountered a loss of power steering, a loss of power brakes, and a sudden urge to navigate my vehicle to the berm. All while trying to maintain my senses and avoid a collision. I don't know if you've ever been traveling at this rate of speed and suddenly lost your ability to steer and brake, but i must say it was not a pleasant experience. Nor was it the prior two times that the fuel injection pump went out. This vehicle has had pumps replaced at 9660 miles on 1-25-95, at 13555 miles on 8-16-95,and now at 55835 miles on 10-01-99. I have had conversations with various chevrolet representatives at the customer assistance center in troy, michigan, and they do acknowledge this is not an isolated incident, however, they are refusing to pay the cost of this repair because the vehicle age has gone beyond the five year point by ten months. They also continue to replace this part with, not a new redesigned pump, but rather a rebuilt pump that i can be assured of replacing in an uncomfortably not so distant future. It has been confirmed by chevrolet personnel who at this time will remain unnamed, that this is a problem of a grand scale and includes every 6.5 liter turbo diesel engine general motors has built since 1994.
Since 1994 four fuel injector pumps have been installed in this chevrolet 1 ton diesel pickup, in july 2002 we were told by chevrolet that it needs another one.since it's out of warranty they would not pay the $2000.00 to repair it.it's the same continuous problem since ppurchase in 1994.

Speedometer signal is interrupted sporatically when left turn signal is used. This is a temporary interruption that causes the speedometer to show the speed drops off in a fraction of a second by about 20 mph, then resumes actual speed.
When pulling off from a stop vehicle would slip then catch.
Both the dealer and chevrolet customer service stated the truck was to old and to many miles.the dealer also stated the repair price was already discounted.it'sbad when a truck thats 5 1/2 years old and 48,000 miles is beyond help and they advertise solid as rock and their trucks last longer.

While going down a dirt driveway, realized the vehicle was in 4 wheel drive low, put the clutch in expecting the vehicle to coast/free wheel to the bottom of the driveway at which time i would have put into 2 wheel high. At which point, while it was freewheeling, the plastic loop that connected the clutch actuator rod to the clutch pedal snapped. Suddenly engaging the clutch that was spinning to the engine(diesel) that was at an idle. The engine compression prevented the motor from increasing rpm quickly. Result was a relatively new clutch disc was torn apart. This was the third clutch in this vehicle. The original disintigrated at 96,000 miles while entering a state highway from a fast food restaurant. Clutch material was not excessively worn. Replaced with a gm clutch assembly. Pilot bearing had failed. Needed new imput shaft to transmission. Second clutch failed after 24,000 miles. Clutch disc disintigrated and jammed clutch assembly. Rocked the engine severly causing damage to exhaust. Road wet going downhill. No weight in bed of truck. Tail began to slide sideways. Replaced with napa/borg warner assembly. Unit had 20,000 miles on it when pedal assembly broke. Our concern is that other vehicle of the same manufacturer with standard transmission have the same potential part failure when driver not expecting it. In our case the vehicle traveled 100+ yards on a dirt road before entering a public way and another 100 yards up a public way before coming under control. Had there been vehicles traveling either direction the results could have been worst. Should this failure occur when vehicle was stopped at a crosswalk, the driver would not have time to react. There are numerous other potential situations that come to mind that could result in fatalities. We were lucky . Our family of 5 and our neighbors, who fortunately came by after, survived without injury other than the untimely death of our clutch which had much useful life left. Photos available.

1994 chevrolet silverado was in vehicle crash.crash was offset frontal crash with another vehicle.ohio state patrol says the 1994 chevrolet went left of center, collision was with an advance cement truck.my father in law was driving and was wearing seat belt.paramedics unbelted him to treat him, according to the officer.the montgomery county coroners report lists blunt force trauma to the chest as cause of death.most of his ribs, his sternum, the left pelvis, and most of the bones in his left leg were broken.he died as a result of this crash, and i believe the seat belt retractor did not function properly to allow his chest to contact the steering column.
Driver's/ passenger's restraint belts fail to lock into place and release when any force is used orwhen pulling onbelts. Consumer states there is an open recall and plans to take vehicle in for repairs.

This problem is in excess of the previous seatback problem.this was a metal fatique of the bottom of the seat where it bolts to the seat track.thias metal is too thin, making it a hazard to be driving. I was fortunate to be at stand still when the seat gave way.i think that this incident should be througly investigated.thank you for your time.

I was sent two notices in august 1997 concerning: the seat recliner to seat frame attaching bolts loosen, fatigue, and fracture, allowing the seat back to suddenly recline. On my truck seat the welding under the seat broke and the entire seat broke and we went backwards.it's still broken and is a safety defect.i contacted chevrolet at 1-800-222-1020 on 11-23-98.i felt, at the time in august 1997 that since reliable chevrolet (in richardson tx) that nothing would be done to correct this problem, so i did nothing else about it. While having some work done on my truck, in kansas nov 10/1998, the repair shop was concerned about the seat being broken that chevrolet should have fixed the defect and they gave me the 800 # to chevrolet.i spoke with davina rutherford at this 800# and she told me, at this date of 11-23-98, there we no recalls concerning the seats, so they couldn't help.your help is greatly appreciated. I am a disabled veteran and don't have the funds to get the seat fixed, as i believe chevrolet should correct the problem.your help is greatly appreciated.
Onfront driver's seat there are 4 boltsattached to the frame. Metal part of the frame broke, causing the seat to fall back into the back seat.

Told the service man the problem with the seat, they checked both sides drivers and passenger. Drivers is power but is loose. He informen me that both seat risers were worn out and that is why the seats are loose. Knew of no warrenty on them, he said that the years 94 to 96 were all bad, they have this trouble all the time. The truck is cherry, why do they ware out so soon? the seat adjustments are hardly ever made.i told him that i was going to contact nitsa. He said to call the zone rep and maby they would -maby pay half. If this is true what he told me about all the 94 to 96 trucks haveing bad seat risers, then there should be a recall i beleve. He said that the 97 up have a new design on the seat risers. The drivers side after they did the recall on the seat recliner always seemed loose to me. Now i know why for the parts are worn out, this i do not understand. I have never had that happen in any of the vechiles i have ever owned. Now the truck was just two years old and hadonly 28,00 miles on the speed-o when i purchased it. And the seat risers were worn out then. Does general motors expect no more than two years or less for the seat risers to fail? if we had a head on accident and the seat will slide forward, then it could result in a fatality. There is no excuse for this shoddy parts. The only reason the drivers seat doesnt slide forward is because it is electrically powered. When i applied my brakes as i backed out of my driveway , the brake petal went to the floor. Upon closer inspection under my truck i notice brake fluid leaking from between the frame and fuel tank . I then notice that the brake line had rusted through and i had no warning . The brake lines are located where you cannot see them making inspection of them nearly impossible . I was lucky where i was when the brakes failed .

Dt:the consumer owns a 1994 chevy silverado 1500. Consumer states that he does not have adjusters on his back brakes. In order for the consumer to adjust the back brakes, he has to take the wheels and the hub off to adjust them .when the wheel is put back on, it was so loose that the vehicle did not have any brakes. Gm dealer told the consumer that his vin did not qualify for the recall on the abs recall. The brake shoes on the rear has not been replaced since 1994 and consumer went in to have them replaced and the dealer said they were like brand new. The brake shoes on the rear is not touching the hub. Consumer has to change the brake on his front every three months.
Driving about 15mph in traffic and applying foot to the brake pedal to stop, the truck and the brake pedal went to the floor and the truck hit the back of another vehicle.

Track or piece of steel holding/securing the drivers seat to the floor of vehicle broke.there was no known reason for the breakage, i.e. Stress, impact,etc..observable to me.repeated attempts to have the dealer address the problem failed, as did attempts at contacting a gmc rep. A funny thing....wheni was looking to buy the vehicle i received more attention than i cared for, but once i made a rather low keyed complaint, i received no attention what-so-ever.

Aftermarket equipment installed at 50,000 miles,p245/75r16, and dot# unavailable. I notified gm that the paint was peeling on the hood and driver side front fender, they said too bad. The other repair i did was the windshield wiper motor be for i new about the recall on windshiedd wiper motors in may of 2003. I think that the paint should last longer than it has on my truck, a lot longer.

The wiper motor assembly/circuit board are the same part number, ac delco part # 22100736, on all 1994 chevrolet trucks, 2wd, 4wd, suburban, c1500-3500, k1500-3500, etc., and all 1994 chevy trucks should have been included in this campaign in order to eliminate this safety hazard on all involved chevrolet trucks.there are three 1994 c/k 1500 pickups where i work with similar or higher mileage and they all have this same problem with the wiper motor/circuit board assembly.
