If it had happened 5 minutes later i would have been in heavy two way highway traffic and the results could have been deadly.is there a recall on the bucket seats for this truck? the truck is not drivable in it's current condition and i'm afraid to just replace the seat with the same style.

On my 1993 chevrolet silverado k1500 extended cab fleetside long box pickup, there has been four failures of the drivers side seatback 60/40 split seat.the first failure was in february of 1996.after this was fixed, we received notification from chevrolet of a potentially dangerous problem where the seatback bolts could break and fall backwards leading to lose of control of the vehicle.now this is the fourth time we have had this happen.on july 23, 2000, we were on our vacation trip from fargo, nd, and were in the park rapids, mn, area, when the seatback failed once again.i called the national chevrolet customer service center and they checked with my maintenance dealer in fargo and confirmed again with me that this was the fourth failure but the only person that could act on this was on vacation and would not be back to work until july 31,2000, which is hard to believe with the size of the general motors corporation.i had to continue my vacation trip with suitcases and duffle bags bracing the back of the seat up which i felt was very unsafe and dangerous.as of august 1, 2000, i have not heard from the customer service center or received any mail from them.in the meantime i cannot use my truck to even go to work because of the concerns of safety in traffic situations.

The abs failed on my 1993 chevrolet pickup.when i took the truck in to get repair estimates i was advised by mechanics a recall is pending for gm abs systems on pick up trucks from 1991 to present.when i called the chevrolet dealer service dept, they could not provide any information as to what will be paid/for covered.i would like to get the abs repaired. It is a little unnerving when the abs sporadically decides to work or fail. I have spent over $300 to have the brakes re-done to make sure i can stop, but the abs keeps acting up.any info on the status and scope of the recall would be appreciated.

Front brake lines restrict flow of fluid to calipers due to rust buildup inside support clamp attached to upper a arm.problem - steering jerks to l or r when brakes are applied quickly.after a period of time the rust builds up enough that the affected brake will not release.outside of the clamp does not show corrision.i initiaaly bled lines, replaced calipers and pads, swapped rotors, and finally stumbled on the clamp support problem throught my parts man and a mechanic that walked into the parts store.th mechanic told me he had a 1990 & 1992 model with the same problem.this effects all gm pickups, surburbans, tahoes, and yukons starting with the 1988 model year, through the 1999 model year.if this information is decimated it will save owners a lot of money.the calipers cost me $110. Alone.i presently have the old brake lines and clamps, that i removed, in my possession.since the problem occured, i have sold the particular vehicle, and purchased a new gmc pickup.if you ned more information, call me or send me and e mail.bill dunnington
