The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 3500. While driving approximately 70 mph hauling a goose neck flatbed duel tandem trailer, the power bus bar shorted. In addition, there was a failure with a loose wire associated with the starter. The radio would not turn off and the contact was locked in the vehicle. The contact was able to exit the vehicle after several attempts.the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The dealer tightened the wires and replaced all of the bus bars. The next morning, within less than 20 miles, the bus bars failed again. The brake, traction control, and other warning indicators and gauges illuminated. The contact was locked in the vehicle and had to move the key back and forth as well as use the key fob to exit the vehicle because the lever would not release. The vehicle was towed to the dealer a second time. The dealer failed to route the wires correctly, in which the edge of the bracket rubbed a hole in the power cable. The tailgate fractured and shorted due to the failure, but the dealer and manufacturer refused to replace the part. The vehicle was taken to the dealer two additional times, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failures. When the contact took the vehicle to the dealer a fourth time, the dealer replaced the air intake heater.the manufacturer was notified of the failures. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

Driving vehicle abs and skid warning lights appears, brake system warning appears always lit while in towing mode. None stop beeping. No reason why this is happening. Had vehicle checked by multiple chevrolet dealerships and they have changed sensors, towing plug twice, electrical rewiring. Began towing 1 hour after repairs and the same problems began all over again. No changes have been noticed $2700.00 later

Serpentine belt broke . I have it available.recommended service is 150k miles or 10 years . It broke at 55k and 5 years.lost brake and steering assist.almost impossible to stop or turn vehicle.it is a diesel and uses hydraulic assist.dealer replaced belt could not determine cause of problem.has not been inspected. No warning.

While driving on the highway, vehicle filled with smoke accompanied by a strong burning odor. At the same time the hvac blower stopped functioning and the windshield fogged up. After stopping the vehicle, burned wires and melted harness connectors where found at the hvac blowerthe hvac blower motor overheated due to a short caused by repeated water intrusion from defective and missing body seams along the roof, cowl, and numerous other locations. Safety belt warning chimes repeatedly for no apparent reason, many other electronic components intermittently fail or operate erratically when it rains or snows. Vehicle floor fills with water frequently. Mold has started growing under carpet. Repeated issues from date of purchase, issues continue to be unresolved, dealership has been unable to identify all leak sources to stop water intrusion.

Bought truck new.bought a brand new fifth wheel trailer to tow.sometimes while towing the trailer, the truck will "shudder" while driving at highway speed.this has happened maybe 3 or 4 times in the 2 years that i have had the truck and trailer.it "shudders" bad enough that it has nearly caused an accident.when it does this, the stabilitrak, traction control and all my gauges come on.the speedometer and tach reset.all this while driving.brought to the dealership and all they do is point the finger at the trailer manufacturer.trailer manufacturer says they are aware of the issue, and it is only happening to chevy trucksthis has been an issue since i bought the truck and trailer

2016 silverado 3500 equipped with "digital steering assist" this is a known problem. At approximately 11,000 miles steering became extremely loose with about 3-4 inches of free play at the steering wheel.took to 1st dealer, steering gear box was replaced according to chevrolet tsb and system worked as designed for approximately 3-4k miles. At that time steering again became loose but not as bad as the first time, about 1-2 inches of free play at the wheel with what feels like too much power steering, very light, dangerously light steering. Vehicle taken to dealer 2, second repair attempt dealer stated system working as designed, at this time the digital steering assist worked as it should from 0 mph to 45 mph about 1-2 inches of free play at the wheel with what feels like too much power steering with very light steering from 46-74 mph, then works as designed from 75 mph on. I went for a test drive with the service manager, he stated "i feel exactly what you are describing tight from 0-45 then light from 46-74 then tight from 75 on but the system is working as designed". In spite of this they changed steering gear box again, 3rd part, with same result. Works as it should from 0 mph to 45 mph about 1-2 inches of free play at the wheel with what feels like too much power steering, very light steering from 46-74 mph, then works as designed from 75 on. Truck is used to pull 9.000 lbs enclosed trailer. Pulling enclosed trailer at interstate speeds in winds is extremely dangerous and requires exhausting concentration and causes severe fatigue after only 150-200 miles. This is the very thing digital steering assist was supposed to eliminate. Vehicle is dangerous to drive between the speeds of 45-75, and especially dangerous while accelerating or decelerating through the 44-46 mph range while turning due to sudden change in steering pressure from system such ason/off ramps

We have had repeated instances, where engine light comes on, and fuel guage flat lines. If you can not get to a qualified dealer soon enough, vehicle shuts down without warning[actually it remains running until it almost comes to a complete stop]. We have had to instances of shut down, and at least 6 instances altogether of engine light/ fuel guage flat line. This has all happened since vehicle was put in service in january / 2016. We use this vehicle to travel across the lower 48, and parts of canada, to pick up breeding bulls, that have values ranging as high as 1 million or more. These animals have all been tested for transport back to our facilities in plain city, oh, and once on the trailer, are not to be removed, unless it is an absolute emergency, because of regulations. Our concern is that, what happens if this vehicle is going up a mountain hwy or any other situation where there is another vehicle following to closely and they hit us and end up killing the animals, me, the person that hit me, or all of us over a fuel transfer pump that gm says is not part of it's powertrain warranty or no longer in it's bumper to bumper warranty. Their line is, that the vehicle is currently repaired, and functioning properly, therefore there is no issue or any reason to keep a case file # on it. We have learned thru other instances, that there is a dealer service bulliten for the same problem we have been experiencing, and supposedly they are trying to find a solution, which has yet to come to light. All instances on this matter have happened in various states across the country, while cruising at speeds between 65 & 70 mph on interstate hwy to this date, with the last instance being on 12/01/2016. We have expressed concerns to gm of safety, and an actual fix for this issue, and so far the best we get from them is, we're sorry for your inconvenience.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 3500. While driving 40-45 mph, the reduced engine speed warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to herb easley motors (1125 central e fwy, wichita falls, tx 76306, (940) 723-6631) where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to contamination of metal shavings in the fuel pump and fuel rails. In addition, the fan clutch failed and needed to be replaced, including the entire fuel system. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred several months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel system needed to be replaced again. The vehicle was not repaired due to cost. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and case number: 8-4064184145 was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 38,000.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 3500. While driving 65 mph, the reduced engine power mode warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to medved chevrolet buick gmc (located at 1506 s wilcox st, castle rock, co 80104, (303) 688-3137) where it was diagnosed that the indirect fuel injector filter and a fractured particulate filter needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 8-467007708. The approximate failure mileage was 50,486.

While driving with the windows closed, the air conditioner on, with the recirculate button lit and dash level vents selected, i was overcome by truck exhaust fumes (a truck pulled in my lane ahead of me on the roadway) and briefly lost control of my vehicle from choking and coughing on it's fumes from the truck exhaust. The fumes came through the air conditioning system which pumped the fumes into my vehicle cabin. I was on a high speed limited access highway and was in a busy and dangerous area as two high speed entrance ramps came from the right, also no shoulders to stop due to the beginning of a bridge. I was able to slow down my vehicle and stop coughing, see again and regain control after opening the windows and letting the bad air out.

Headlight projection are horrible and unsafe. I do a lot of night driving on poorly lit and unlit streets both in neighborhoods and in wide open areas. Driving through rain on poorly marked roads. These lights do not shine far enough nor wide enough. I thought there were safety standards to meet, but there must be none or gm just didn't meet them. Been this way since new so i'm not sure what to put in the date below.

Truck would not start.second time this has occurred.first time transfer pump was exchanged.now being told it is requiring front and rear tank level sensors. Twice have been stranded in this vehicle for fuel issues. Prior issue occurred while truck was driving on a street.this time, when trying to restart after completing a delivery.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 3500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number:19v088000 (fuel system, gasoline). The contact called carl black chevrolet buick gmc at (888) 457-2417 (located at 1110 roberts blvd nw, kennesaw, ga 30144) and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

P2636 transfer pump - driver indicated fuel gauge was fluctuating from full to empty.check engine light came on and gauge dropped to empty. Driver saw smoke coming from left side of engine. Upon inspection strong fuel odor. Dealership found cleared code and found gauges reading normal, then pump "got loud and hot and quit operating". Replaced fuel transfer pump.vehicle had 40,396 miles. Believe this to be a hazard to our drivers, with fuel leak/fire and stalling potential outcomes.

Gas exploded out the top of the tank - causing gas to flow out of the top. No fire started since it happened right as the firetruck was passing the area. They heard the noise and smelled the gas. They disconnected the battery and marked off the area. They also assisted in cleaning up the spill. Vehicle was in motion when the explosion took place and they continued to coast to a safe spot since the truck no longer was getting fuel.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 3500. The contact stated that fuel monitoring system malfunctioned due to transfer fuel pumps. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel system software needed to be updated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The truck is a 2016 chevrolet 3500 hd diesel, when the truck goes into regeneration mode the truck accelerates without notice. It doesn't matter if it's in park, reverse, neutral or drive, the rpm of the engine speeds up to about 900 rpm. In a forward motion it will speed up from 6 mph to 10 mph in drive without notice. In reverse it will speed up to 5 mph without notice. If you are at a stop light and it goes into regeneration mode it will almost push through the brake, inadvertently catching you off guard and having to push on the brake with even more pressure. I've taken the truck to the dealer and was told twice that it's a characteristic of the computer and can not be changed.

4 wheel drive did not engage before. Stuck on an snowy parking structure and could not get up the ramp, due to 4wd not engaging.drive shaft parts broke while engaging 4wd. It was cracked prior to the break, but the torque caused it to snap impacting the transmission, ripping out the filter from the transmission causing irreparable damage. Rear wheels were in mud near a boat ramp. Front tires were on dry ground. Attempted to pull out, rear tires spun. Stopped truck, put into 4 hi and the front tires would not catch, and rear spun. Digging deeper into the mud. Stopped the truck and put it in 4 lo, placed it in drive pulled out slowly and then a loud bang. Immediately turned off the truck.. Had to have it towed. Sutliff chevrolet in harrisburg, pa refuses to cover this under warranty due to "abuse". They insist 4wd is working due to the light on the dash lighting up, but the drive shaft is not attached. 4wd can not be verified until after it,s repaired. You can clearly see in the pictures how part of the crack is clean and the other half is dirty from road grime.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 3500. While driving various speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, felt soft, and traveled to the floorboard. The contact stated that the vehicle would eventually slow down and stop while the brakes were still being applied. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and to power gm (16070 state rte 170, east liverpool, oh 43920 (330) 385-9100), but neither places could diagnose the cause of the failure. The contact mentioned that the brake pads had to be changed every 4,000 miles. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and filed a law suit. The contact mentioned that the manufacturer had postponed court hearings repeatedly and the vehicle was now part of a lemon law. The failure mileage was 4,000.

Brakes are not efficient.they need enormous amount of pressure to stop.or brake pedals must be applied(pumped) several times to stop better with less pressure.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 3500. While driving 10 mph, the brake pedal would not move and became stuck when the contact attempted to stop the vehicle. The contact also stated that the vehicle rolled as she continued to depress the brake pedal. The vehicle finally came to a stop as it approached an intersection. When the contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, the brakes returned to normal. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was later taken to gosch chevrolet of hemet (400 carriage cir, hemet, ca 92545, (951) 216-3486) where it was diagnosed that a new brake booster vacuum pump needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired, but there was suspicion that the pump could fail again. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number was provided. The contact was informed that a case manager would call her. The failure mileage was 44,444.

Excess play and sloppy steering. Loose and worn pitman arm and idler arm needed replacement at 37,844 miles. Vehicle is lightly used and not abused off road.

Sloppy loose steering, slack adjuster stud loosened 3/8 inch, 3 to 4 inch steering play. Unsafe. Loctite fix does not last. New re-engineered gear box recall needed.

I bought this truck in october 2019. While out on the test drive, i noticed 2 to 3 inches of free play in the steering wheel. I asked them to look into it and they found a bolt in the steering box had backed out about a half inch on it's own. They found a tsb from gm saying to use loctite on the bolt. They fixed it and everything has been good for two months. I am now starting to feel free play again and the steering itself feels very loose/ no stiffness at all when driving at any speed. I've seen many owners in many different forums complain about the same issue and i fear for my families safety when towing our heavy camper next year on vacation. Gm needs to recall this issue before someone is seriously injured.

The safety concern on this issue is the significantly elevated potential for loss of vehicular steering control. After the truck was driven to 1,700 total miles on the odometer, the truck's steering control became sloppy in 70mph + interstate highway driving resulting in highway wander similar to driving in wind gusts of 60 mpg+ (where at times it is difficult to maintain position in your highway lane). Subsequent examination of the steering box showed that the steering gear pitman arm lash adjustment screw on the steering box had backed off approximately 3/8", the steering had excessive play and the steering box was leaking power steering fluid. The steering system on this truck is a digital steering assist system. The truck was returned to the dealerand unsuccessfully (no change in functionality) repaired under gm tsb #pit5501c(replacement of the steering box)and subsequently successfully repaired (to date) under gm tsb #pit5501d (replacement of the steering gear pitman arm shaft with an updated design gm p/n 84240812. Currently have approximately 5,500 total odometer miles on the truck.

Steering is always a bit loose. At only 70,000 the abs and stabilitrak warnings came on.took the vehicle to the dealer and learned that the pitman shaft is backing itself out of the steering assembly.not covered by warranty.yet, chevy has 6 tsbs on this issue (the latest saying to use some lock-tite on it); they had a newly designed part; and, checking inventory you learn that dealers have new steering assemblies in inventory for 2016 and 2017.seems as though chevy knows it has a serious safety/steering issue and have made a business decision to not recall until there is a catastrophic failure and people die. There are other reports on this site of failures at mileages from 1700 on up.this clearly is the results of a design or system flaw and is systemic. This matter needs to be investigated.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet silverado 3500. While driving, the contact noticed that the steering wheel became different and had to be turned a few inches before the vehicle would respond and turn. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to laramie gm auto center (3600 grand ave, laramie, wy 82070 (307) 460-4761) where it was diagnosed that the steering gear assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 39,500.

At 2000 miles on my new truck, the steering became very loose.dealer replaced steering box. I have now had it in 3 more times with loose steering. Very scarey to drive on the freeway with loose steering.you feel it more at higher speeds than you do at lower speeds

New truck had lose steering when i took delivery, requiring over correction. With just 4529 in mileage on it i took it back to my dealer. Was told they already had made repairs to four other trucks with the same issue. They replaced the hydraulic recirculating ball steering gear. Steering gear adjuster way too far out, leaking at shaft seals. Replaced gear and the new one was bad as well, with steering sticking and then slipping. Replaced with second new gear and vehicle checked out and was returned to me. This is a major safety issue in my opinion for a truck designed to tow heavy vehicles.

Bad paint, extremely soft, chips easily. Rear of fenders and tailgate showed chips after 1500 miles, now front of rear fenders are chipped as well as numerous places on sides and front of vehicle. Dealer told me it was due to dust storm. My 2003silverado has paint that looks newer than my 2016 and is parked in the same location.

There is no grille billet covering the radiator in the front of the vehicle and debris fills the coils on the radiator causing the transmission to run hot

Drivers door latch screws have loosened- 1 of 3 screws missing.if the other 2 break or fall out,the drivers door could open unexpectedly. The truck has less than 52,000miles on it.

At all times, including while driving at highway speeds, the accelerator pedal makes a squeaking sound which is not only irritation, but a sign of some sort of problem with the accelerator pedal itself. Took it into dealership under warranty still and they claim that this defect is normal simply because they found the same condition on all other similar vehicles that they checked. I suggest that all of these vehicle suffer the same defect. This is a telltale sign of a problem, what if the pedal were to become stuck when depressed?dealership said they are unable to lubricate it or modify it. Unwilling to do any other repair about this. Claims it is "a normal condition". Online forums suggest that others dealers have made unit replacements and/or modifications to fix the noise.

Hello i purchased a brand new 2016 chevrolet silverado k3500 ltz dually from (xxxx) in lakeville, mn feb 2017 i had approximately 25k miles on it and i had noticed the front tires were starting to feather and making a strange noise and the tread stared to chunk off. So i brought it in to the above dealer and they get michelin to cover 30% for a new set of front tires which still cost me approx. $700.00. Well 6 months later i have 21k miles on the new tires and they are starting to do the same thing i brought the truck in to the dealer two weeks ago to have them assess the situation and have yet to hear back from them. So one week ago today i called gm directly and they told me they would call back with in two business days and or no later than friday. Well friday has passed i do not know what to do i use this truck to make my living and i am very concerned about safety and the pre mature wear on the trucks front end components. There is a strange vibration in the front end and it pulls to one side or the other on the freeway the dealer has aligned the front end with no results.
