I remote started my 2015 silverado 3500hd duramax. After about 5 minutes of idle time i began driving the truck. About 3/4 miles down the road i detected the smell of something burning or very hot. My first though was it was coming from the outside. Before i could figure out what was burning heavy white/gray smoke starting exiting from lower weather stripping on the rear center sliding window. Before i could take action i heard a loud popping sound. I looked back again and the rear passenger side window was entirely shattered. At this time i killed the rear window defrost and the smoke quite. I was traveling at roughly 20-30mph on a paved city street. It was 35 degrees with a light mist and fog.

Check trailer wiring warning comes on and chime sounds every few seconds. Check trailer tail lights, brake, both turns signals, and use manual brake lever.every thing works fine.then it quit after two hours.took it in to dealer in terrace,bc,ca.was told that vehicle was working fine but the trailer plug was not a blade type and that was the problem.was also told that i did't have trailer brakes when the warning to check trailer wiring comes on.my 6800 mile trip in may 2017 with the same trailer the check trailer warning never came on.on or 3800 mile trip to british columbia it was a continual problem off and on.i have since put a blade plug on the trailer but have not used it.in november 2016 while pulling a cargo trailer i had the same problem.took it in to chevy dealer in medford, or and was told i had a bad ground on the trailer.i had just rewired the trailer with all new led lights, but i checked all wiring and never found anything.this trailer does"t have a blade plug on it. I haven"t used trailer since.i also have a 12,000# boat that i tow and it has the same plug as the others.i haven't had any problem with it.it does have surge brakes.these three trailers that i have gave me no problems when i towed them with my 2003 chev 2500hd silverado.this seems to be a common problem with the new chevy trucks by the number of posts on the internet.

I would notice white smoke coming out under the hood of my vehicle. I would mainly notice it when i would turn on the ac . This would happen either parked or in motion. I would open the hood and the smoke would only last a few minutes, which caused the alternator to catch on fire.

A warning message comes on the dash telling the driver there is a issue with the trailer brakes, or wiring system. The trailer brakes become inoperable when this comes on. We have contacted gm with the issue, both at the dealer level and at the corporate level; and they insist it is a problem with our trailers. The same trailers are used with older chevrolet trucks without incident. We have also been informed by gm that the 2015 silverado 2500's are equipped with a more sensitive trailering system. When the connection becomes wet during inclement weather, or the truck hits a bump; and the connector loses contact momentarily the message will illuminate. Resulting in the loss of trailer brakes. This is a serious safety issue.

I neverreceived a recall on my chevrolet truck which is the same year make and model as this one. Took it to a dealership and had it fixed. They saidit wasn't recalled so we had to pay the bill.isn't their a way to find the recall and get reimbursed for the repair bill andall the associated costs? we have called and made a complaint to nhtsa. Nothing came of it. It still is a safety defect that should be repaired with no cost to the customers.

I was driving on us highway 12 going approx. 35 mph when the rear end differential lockup and caused me to slid off the road in a turn that also had ice while towing a fifth wheel the accident caused damage to the right front fender and the right rear and right side of the 8 foot bed along with the windshield and a front drive line for 4 wheel drive i have had multiple issues with the front drive line breaking under normal conditions as well i also have video of the rear end differential moving from side to side to show the movement and show what caused the rear end to lock up it had moved an 1/4 of and inch to 1/2 inch in either direction.

Engine loss power while pulling a loaded horse trailer around 10,000 pounds.error message saying power has been reduced.the top speed while on a hill was abiut 15 miles an hour.tractor traillers had to manuver around me due to the low speed on an expressway with 70 mile an hour speed limit.the dealer said cause was fraying of the wiring harness probably around the turbo.after research on the internet, i found this was a frequent problem.truck only has 43,000 miles on it.i have requested the old wiring harness for inspection.

Randomly with no needed instance the instrument cluster reads service trailer break. With or without a trailer connected. With the trailer connected the trailer breaks fails to operate causing a very serioussafety concern. After pulling to the side of the road as safely as possible with an approximate of 20k pounds with no brakes on the trailer and turning the truck on and then back off the brakes resume as normal. Other service prompts randomly appear on the info cluster on this particular vehicle, but none as serious as this particular one. Such as service front camera, service stabilitrac, and service def system. While these may all be related to the same cause i feel my life and the lives of the general public are being gambled with while the cause is guessed at. I have taken my truck in for these related issues for a total of three times now. Each time i am sent back out to be the test [xxx] in this potential [xxx] trap. The videos were to big to upload to this form. But i have videos of this issue with and without a trailer connected available upon request. Our ?check trailer wiring? message first appeared on the dic on january 5, 2016 on california highway 12, near fairfield, ca.0.we stopped and applied di-electric grease to the 7 pin plug.the message re-appeared and cleared itself, indicating trailer connected. At 7,380 miles, checked the truck and found no problems, and advised us of gm's trailer wiring tsb, and suggested the problem was with the trailer and that we purchase a specific pollak 7 pin trailer end plug.they provided the name of a nearby truck shop, who that the specified pollak plug.we headed overnight to chowchilla, ca and the next morning, replaced the 7 pin connector with the pollak plug, and we cleaned and checked the trailer ground at the king pin.we left chowchilla and in urban traffic, the check trailer wiring message would appear as we applied the truck brake and then clear itself with trailer connected as we headed down the highway or freeway.we went through urban traffic in palmdale and lancaster, ca that same day, and at a stop light on level ground, with the ?check trailer wiring message appearing, i applied the manual trailer brakes, and took my foot off the truck brakes, and the trailer/truck rolled ahead - no brakes on the trailer.we experience occasional message on the dash indicating 'check trailer wiring'. We are towing a fifth wheeltrailer weighing over 13,000 lbs. We took the truck to a gm dealer and were told of a tsb regarding brakingissues, and were told to replace the 7 pin plug with a 'pollak' brand. We had an rv dealer check our trailer brakes, and said they work fine. We have spoken to another gm dealer who indicated that the new integrated brakecontrollers are advanced and will detect any issues with our brakes, and give the check trailer wiring message. The message is intermittent and eventually clears itself......updated 02/10/16 updated 11/2/2017 updated 06/20/18

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 3500. While driving 65 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning. The vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there were metal fragments inside the engine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

The contact owned a 2015 chevrolet silverado 3500. When the vehicle was shifted in reverse, the driver immediately observed smoke coming from the engine compartment. After all the passengers were evacuated from the vehicle, the horn sounded and the vehicle was engulfed in flames within 5 to 10 minutes. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was deemed destroyed. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 3500. The contact stated while parked, the high-pressure fuel pump failed without warning. The contact stated he heard an abnormal noise and turned off and restarted the vehicle however, the vehicle shutoff without warning. The contact had the vehicle towed to woodland chevrolet (530 quality cir, woodland, ca 95776) where the vehicle was diagnosed with a high-pressure fuel pump failure. The vehicle remained at the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 180,000.

Cp4 fuel pump failure and engine failure- started truck that morning, 5 min later it shut off and hasn't started again. Hub exploded making 4wheel drive impossible when driving down hey. Ac blender stopped working ac vents blow hot air on right side of dash while in motion.

Bought this vehicle new from dealer in sept 2015 with the dealer installed flatbed already on it, on their dealership lot. Fuel mileage was poor from the first,"engine light on" from the first; transmission dragging from the first day we bought it. Service advisors and the salesman said drive it and it will clear out. It got worse.the dealership finally sent it to the company who installed the flatbed for them, and they said there was an electrical short in the fuel pump which they replaced.the automatic transmission did not shift smoothly when we got it back, and the dealershipsaid "it performs as designed". But, this is an automatic 6 speed chevrolet transmission in a 2015 chevrolet 3500 silverado with a 6.0 gasoline engine. The transmission drags from 5th gear and then drags in 6th gear. I have to let off the gas pedal for the transmission to shift. If i let it drag out, it uses fuel and sounds like i am stuck in gear. We have taken it to 3 different chevrolet dealerships, and they say something is wrong but we can't take it apart to fix it. The service manager said for me to drive it until the transmission"blows up because it is under warranty". I took it to a reliable transmission shop, but they won't touch it because it is under warranty, but they said that there is something wrong that it does not shift smoothly into all 6 gears. It only has 3600 miles. We have to drive it once a week to keep the battery charged. I don't pull or haul anything with it. This is happening both in city driving and highway driving.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer (bachman-bernard chevrolet buick gmc, 3365 e. Andrew johnson hwy, greeneville, tn) where it was diagnosed that the failure was caused by a faulty fuel filter. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 33,922.

My chevy silverado 3500 duramax diesel truck had around 52,000 miles on the odometer & was stationary when the fuel injection check ball exploded (according to the dealership) & caused the engine to stop & become immobile. The truck was towed to the nearest dealership & repaired @ around $12,000 worth of damage. Warranty covered it @ 100% & the vehicle is back running. I live in a farming/ranching part of the usa where multiple people drive diesel pickups. I have talked to multiple people who have had the exact same problem with their chevy duramax trucks (according to their dealership). When this condition occurred on their vehicles, they were driving & the vehicle became immobile. This concerns me because when the engine stops when driving you could lose power steering/full braking ability. I have a family as well as others, i do not know of any deaths related to this issue, but no engine power could result in loss of power steering/full braking ability, resulting in equipment/bodily injury. I contacted chevy customer support & submitted a claim, they said they would submit the claim to the recall department. Chevy also contacted the dealership & spoke with the service guy to confirm my claim, he said he confirmed the multiple occurrences that they have seen. As a matter of a fact, another chevy duramax was towed to the dealership with the exact issue, while my truck was being repaired. The dealership confirmed that chevy has not fixed the issue with the fuel injection system, so the repairs were made with the exact same faulty (new parts), according to the dealership. When searching for this issue on the web, multiple of the same occurrences are listed. In my opinion this issue needs to be evaluated with a corrective action put in place to prevent further incidents similar to this from happening.

P2636 transfer pump insufficient flow - vehicle stalled while driving, unable to restart. Towed into dealership to find transfer pump which transfers fuel from rear to front tank had failed. Vehicle has 37,880 miles at time of incident. Believe this to be recurring issue, which should be addressed with manufacturer.

Cp4 fuel pump failure and engine failure- started truck that morning, 5 min later it shut off and hasn't started again. Hub exploded making 4wheel drive impossible when driving down hey. Ac blender stopped working ac vents blow hot air on right side of dash while in motion.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 3500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact coasted to the side of the roadway. The vehicle was towed to pinegar chevrolet buick gmc of branson (163 adair rd, branson, mo 65616, (866) 311-4731) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel system was defective. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The manufacturer informed the contact of an ongoing class action lawsuit however, the vin was not included. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

My truck was parked in my driveway on a slight downgrade. I had just parked it and was unlocking my front door when i turned around and witnessed it rolling backwards down the driveway towards the street. I managed to run back and get in a stop it with the emergency brake. The vehicle was now at least 30 feet from where i had parked it and would have continued farther had i not stopped it.after this i parked it several more times in the same spot and it continued to roll backwards while in park.i then took the vehicle to my dealership and explained the issue and showed them a video of me testing it. They later informed me that it was a known programming issue and they reprogrammed the transmission and it should work now. The transmission can come out of park even when not running. When i asked why i was not informed of such a recall the informed me that it was not an issue they were calling customers about rather they were just fixing vehicles as they came in reporting the issue.i live 3 blocks from a middle school and at the time of the incident there is often children walking down my street. The vehicle could have easily seriously injured or killed someone yet chevy did not consider this a large enough safety concern to inform owners of these vehicles.

At high way speeds approx. 67 mph to 80 truck starts to vibrate very badly. Taken to tire shop and balance checks fine. Found that this yr and make gm has had vibration issues.around 2017 truck was taken to gm dealer and they had to replace transmission torq converter was bad also.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 3500.the contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle veered to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brake pedal and the brake roters were worn out but that the failure was normal.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure occurred on two occasions. The first time that the vehicle was taken to a dealer for the failure, it was informed that the brakes were wearing out uneven. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 17,000.

My trailer braking system gives off warnings that it's not connected to the trailer when i don't have the trailer connected. But i was towing my trailer and as i stepped on the break it was giving me that warning and the brake system was failing to engage on the trailer i reviewed this on forums and everybody is having this problem it has been going on from about 2011 on the chevrolet and gmc's for gmc and chevrolet says there is no problem people have switched out the dashboard switch and it returns it comes and goes as a problem.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 3500. While reversing the vehicle and then attempting to drive, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and suddenly functioned normally without warning. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The contact called the john watson chevrolet dealer located in ogden, ut 84401 and scheduled an appointment for the failure. In addition, the contact took the vehicle to teton motors in jackson, wy 83001 and was informed that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 14v719000 (steering), but did not confirm if the vin was included. The vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.

I have experience a temporary loss of electric powersteering (eps) assist followed by a sudden return of eps assist, particularlyduring low-speed turning maneuvers. This temporary loss of eps does not happen very often. The last time it happen i was making a right hand turn off of the highway, it felt like i lost the power assist for a second, than it came back. Before this happen, i have had several experiences over the last two years where the steering feels like it sticks when starting a turn at start of forward movement. I have talk to the dealership where i bought the truck, they even looked at it once and said they could not find anything wrong. I talked to them again after it lost the last experience and they said there was no recall for my truck. It doesn't happen often enough for them to determine the failure.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving at slow speeds and making a right turn, the steering became difficult to operate. The vehicle was taken to john watson chevrolet (3535 wall ave, ogden, ut 84401, (801) 394-2611) where it was diagnosed that the power steering pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred two days later. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v719000 (steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Trailer tow mirrors do not extend far enough to see rear of truck 8 ft wide rack body. Spot flood lights shine off body blinding drivers vision because mirriors do not extend far enough. My 2013 gmc 3500 sierra dump truck mirriors extend 2 inches further then the 2015.only have half view of mirrors on my 2015 chevy 3500. This is a major safety issue. I have brought this issue up to quirk and lannan cheverolet.

Water leaking into the vehicle from the onstar/xm antenna. Gm issues a tsb for the issue in 2017. Will not warranty the necessary repairs after the initial bumper to bumper coverage. Turned a corner got a lap full of water, luckily i wasn't in heavy traffic. Headliner and carpet are wet, probably the electronics as well. Not sure how long it has been leaking just noticed it.

Vehicle will not stay engaged in park, was parked opening a gate and the vehicle made a loud pop and started rolling backward, with a trailer, load of hay, has done lots of damage has 2000 miles on it. It was stationary then started rolling backwards.

I find the push button controls on the steering wheel are to small for a working driver. When wearing gloves it is very difficult using the small push buttons. The buttons that were used on the previous models were more user friendly.

Silverado 3500 hd truck is equipped with towing/camper side view mirrors equipped with red turn signals embedded in mirror glass. Red turn signal led's impair vision at night, and shine directly into drivers eyes, making it extremely difficult to see outside vehicle in direction of turn. The turn signal led's are manufactured without any sort of shielding coating in mirror glass which would reduce the brightness of the led's. Also the mirrors are mounted to high for average higth people. Two inches lower would help a lot for turning visibility.
