Railroad hyrail vehicle equipped, after market, with hyrail wheel assemblies which allow the vehicle to operate on railroad tracks. Once hyrail (flanged) wheels are retracted, the vehicle is operated over the highways and public roads like any other vehicle. On 3/16/12 a bnsf employee was operating the hyrail vehicle on hwy 34 near trenton, ne. A semi pulled out in from of him, causing him to rear end the semi at about 65 mph. Delayed airbag deployment led to him having extensive injuries, including lacerations to his forehead, collapsed lungs, spine fractures and rib fractures. Concern is that the installation of hyrail wheel assemblies might be impacting the airbag sensor. The hyrail wheel assemblies extend approx. One foot of steel framework ahead of the front and rear bumpers. The placement of these assemblies might inadvertently be affecting airbag deployment in crashes on the railroad track and on public roads.

Chevrolet silverado 3500 diesel pu - i noticed red fluid leaking under the front of the truck. When my mechanic looked at it he said the transmission fluid lines were leaking, along with the power steering line. He had worked on four with the same problem.had i driven to the dealer, 50 miles away, i could have locked up or burned up my transmission and may have lost my power steering as well. When i spoke with a 15 year service tech at the dealer, he said there is definitely an issue & has been for over 12 months.

Transmission cooler lines leaking fluid. Fire hazard, and may possibly fail completely and leave you or family stranded in a unsafe position.

Leaky tranny line onto exhaust caused small fire.

I noticed pink liquid leaking on 2006 chevy silverado 3500 diesel, 46,000 miles. I only realized it was leaking (pink fluid)because of the snow we recently had. I took it to the dealership expecting it to be covered under the warranty. Dealership quoted $841.08 before taxes to fix transmission lines. I inquired about warranty and he said it wasn't the engine.i decided to search on line because i thought the transmission was a part of the powertrain and found many, many, many complaints about this same problem.of course no where near the $ i was quoted. The complaints even are having the same vehicle in multiple times with the same problem. I just wander why nothing has been done about this. How is this not a safety issue?

All 3 transmission cooler lines leaking transmission fluid.i had the exact same problem on 12/11/2007.the dealership where i brought my truck in stated this is a common problem that they see frequently and in fact they stated they had a 2007 truck in their shop that day with the exact same problem.

Anti-lock sensors develop rust and fail.at slow speeds when you apply the brakes they pulse and take extra time and distance to stop

Driving home from a camping trip pulling 30ft 5th wheel, pushed on brake pedal to slow down & pedal went almost to the floor , pulled over & found brake line leaking under master cylinder on top of frame rail, repaired line to get home , upon inspection of brake lines, they are very weak, since then i've had to fix 2 more brake lines, luckily not pulling anything,i have friends with these same trucks & inspected there's & also look the same,1 friend took his to dealership & they told him that this is normal? i feel they did not use the correct kind of metal when producing these vehicles brake lines .i work in the service field & have never seen brake lines rot the way these trucks do , these trucks are bought for pulling & a lot of them on the road, so i was hoping you could look into this matter for safety reasons.thank you

On my 2006 silverado 3500, when applying the brakes, as the vehicle slows to about 2-4mph...the abs activates and the stopping force of the brakes is reduced causing the vehicle to miss the intended stopping point.i have replaced both front hub bearings which includes the front sensors as others have reported this cures the problem yet the problem persists.there are 80,000 miles on the vehicle, i have owned since new, there have been no accidents or abuse.there are no check engine lights, abs lights or anything indicating a fault.on the internet, there are many complaints just as mine.these vehicles are a public safety concern because there is obviously an acknowledge problem due to a recall of previous years that use the same technology.i feel the manufacturer needs to come up with a remedy for this defect in design.

I am writing concerning receiver hitch failure on my 2006 chevy 2500 duramax diesel.i have been concerned about this hitches integrity since i purchased the vehicle due to the design.my worries have come to fruition with a near total failure of the oem hitch. I inspect this hitch before every tow and luckily noticed it bending.i have a friend who owns an identical truck who has experienced the same failure.speaking for myself, i have never exceeded the tow rating on this hitch and have never been involved in a situation that caused undue stress.after researching on the internet, there have been numerous failures of this hitch design.gm relies on two bolts running through the bumper for horizontal strength on this hitch. The problem is that the bumper brackets are not designed for horizontal strength and slip approx a half inch.this begins the failure of the hitch as the 2" round tube turns in the receiver brackets due to them being welded on only on side.
