I was hit head on in my 2001 chevy dual wheel truck, both vehicles were traveling approx 40/50mph, my truck shut off on impact. My air bags and seat belts did not work. I had a neck injury and need an operation.
Vehicle is stalling and not starting and brakes have to be replaced more often than any normal vehicle/truck/van. This occurrence has been happening for the last 2 years. Took the vehicle to many mechanics and even the dealer. All types of things have been replaced (fuel pump, starter, tune-up, spark plugs, brakes, brake disc, rotors, etc...) and it still has the same problem. The vehicle is stalling and it seems that enough gas is not getting to the engine and it seems that brakes wear quite too often. I know this may cost the company alot to recall but we as citizens pay alot for these vehicles and they should own up to these manufacturing issues. I have investigated this problem online and there are many others out there like myself that have reported the same problem from models dating back to 1997. Please assist me with getting the manufacturer to fix this problem, times are hard and i can't afford to spend another dime on this vehicle when i shouldn't. Date listed below is the last occurrence and i am at my wits end. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

It has been to dealer 7 times for same problem.parts have been changed, but problem seems to resurface.consumer states 4 way emergency flashers do not always work must fiddle with switch or turn signal to operate, battery will not show green eye, water is leaking left side top and right side of drivers side windshield, and front end and steering shimmy at 30-40 mph. *yd
While driving, approximately 70 mph, the truck shuts down completely.no power brakes no power steering, no power anything.after 5 to 10 secondstruck starts back up on its own, sometimes. Very dangerous when hauling a heavy load.this happened more than once, was intermittent and varied in frequency.i changed crank sensor and problem has not occurred.gm dealerships where not very helpful.

We have a 2001 silverado 3500 that shut down in the middle of baltimore traffic back in 2006. We had to have it towed and paid $644.33 to have it fixed. It was the crank position sensor.we came to find out that there was a recall on this in some of the 2001's. But guess what, ours is no on the list! i asked the lady "so who determines which of these model vins get to be on the recall and which ones will the consumer have to pay for. Of course she responded that she was sorry for our inconvenience, but she could not help. Is there any way to have our truck on the recall too and get a reimbursement? we truly love our truck and it has to go in for the ubs brake system too, but we found out it is not covered under that recall either. What gives? we are the ones with these two problems, but our doesn't count? please help.
2001 chevy silverado pick up 8.1liter. Vehicle will shut down without any warnings. Then will restart after slight cool down. Happened on several different occasions. Found recall notice no. 06083. Called gm and was told my vin# doesn't match. How does gm knowingly let this happen just because not enough complaints havebeen issued for this batch of trucks when it has the same diagnoses as the others??? no more gm for me!
Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle stalled while driving at 30mph. The vehicle was hard to restart.the check engine light illuminated constantly. The vehicle was taken to the service dealer who determined that the cps needed replacing.

I own a 2001 chevy silverado k3500 with the 6.0l engine. My vehicle has consumed oil from day one and this problem is getting worse. I traveled to ohio last month and used one quart in about 450 miles. This is outrageous. Now i must give you some background on myself. My previous vehicle was a 1995 gmc sierra k3500 with a 7.4l engine, both the 2001 and the 1995 i purchased new. I followed the manufacturer's directions on breaking in the vehicle in both cases. The 1995 vehicle never consumed oil, even at 145,000 miles.i check my oil at least once a week, that is a disgrace for a vehicle that is only three years old. My vehicle also knocks and pings all the time. I have called the dealership i purchased the vehicle from at two different occasions and have received two different stories. I am tired of the "run around" treatment by the dealer and by chevy when i call the "chevy help line", "work it out with the dealer" is all i'm told. I am aware of a possible class action lawsuit against chevrolet for the engine problems. I would appreciate any information or assistance you could offer in this matter.*la

I have a 2001 chevrolet silverado 3500 crew cab with dual wheels.several times recently the truck has lost power while driving at highway speeds. Yesterday my wife was driving it, and it shut off while turning a corner in the center of exeter nh. It lost power steering and the truck went off the road onto the sidewalk by the town hall, narrowly missing pedestrians. I took it to a garage and found out it is being caused by the crank shaft position sensor they told me there was a dealer recall. I called the dealer and they said my vehicle isn't included. The nhtsa campaign # for the existing recall is 07v52100.
2001 k3500 w/ 8100 v8. Vehicle uses 3 to 4 quarts of oil in between oil changes (every3,000 ml.). I'm not getting much action from the dealer & my warenty is almost out!!

Third brake light in the middle of vehicle has a dummie lens, and wires are there, but no light bulbs.dealership is aware of problem.consumer feels this light should be on vehicle so other motorists can see him better.

2001 chevy silverado diesel - doing 65 mph on the highway - motor starting skipping and then had a loss of power.diesel fuel can be smelled.pulled off highway and checked the truck.diesel fuel was found blown all over the undercarriage including the exhaust.i was worried that the truck would catch on fire.brought the truck to a chevy dealer to get checked out and found out it was caused by faulty injectors that chevy is aware of but if the truck is over 7 years old and is not covered by the "defective injector warranty". I don't understand how they issued a warranty on the part because they were aware that it was defective instead of having the part recalled.

Re: a 2001 chevrolet pickup in 2002-new. I have 32,000 miles on it. It keeps cutting out and red lights and even driving on the expressway. I took it in and they want me to pay for it. It is virtually new. They said the part comes with a lifetime warranty: and this one does not. They claim the recall was for the diesel pickup only??
I own a 2001 chevy silverado 3500 extended cab 8' bed 4x4 and have had the brake lines rust out to where the brakes failed and the fuel lines rust to the point of leaking. I am having to completely replace both sets of lines. Have there been any other complaints as to this issue?
My truck has excessive undercarriage rust, to the point of reduced material thickness on the frame and all frame mounted components.have experience one fuel line failure and fear additional failures of fuel and brake lines.also all suspension mounting points have large metal flakes coming off.

Why isn't nhtsa forcing gm to recall all these trucks and suv's with badly rusting brake systems??? my 2001 chevy silverado 3500 has major brake issues due to rust/corrosion. I was traveling the interstate and went for my exit, stepped on the brake pedal and it went to the floor, nearly a no brake situation, fortunately i still had my front brakes working. This truck spends it's nights in the garage, and is well cared for with low mileage for a 2001 (only 98,000) miles, my 2002 dodge grand caravan has 210,000 miles! and i've never had any issues with brake-line rust/corrosion.i don't feel safe taking my truck on long vacations or using it to tow a travel trailer (which is why i bought it) and it only has 98,000 miles, but my trusty grand caravan gives no problems with its brake performance even with 210,000 miles.
My 2001 chevy one ton silveradopick-up with 90,000 miles on it , has majorly rusted out brake lines. While driving down the road, i blew a brake line. When i looked to see what line it was,i was amazed at how badly all the lines were rusted. My mechanic quoted me like $ 1400 dollars to replace all of the lines, and guarantee his work. I understand that all gm trucks from 2000 to 2009 had this major problem . I have found an after market line kit for $ 280 with about 3 days labor for a diy guy.
On multiple occasions and on both my chevy trucks the abs module will intermediately malfunction and while the light comes on the abs brake do not work.while traveling southbound on i95 in richmond va i was in the left lane traveling with traffic, when a car stopped suddenly over confusion of the exit signs for i895.the 2013 avalanche in front of me stopped hard and was able to turn away from the stopped car, my front brakes locked up which rendered steering away useless.i hit the avalanche in the right rear with my left front.this cause $8,000 worth of damage to my vehicle and $5700 in damage to his.late last year my 2002 suburban started experiencing the same problems.the gm dealership i went to told me it was a normal wear and tear problem and wanted $1,200 to replace the "dealer only supplied" part.this is a part that can work/ not work at any moment.my abs kicked in then locked up with the abs and brake warning lights coming on while the accident was happening.
Brakes failed. Ruptured brake line & barely avoided accident.on a street, vehicle moving.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 3500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, the anti-lock braking system activated while the contact was attempting to park the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not listed in nhtsa campaign number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic).the failure mileage was 117,000.

Driving approx 35 mph brake pedal went to floor, pedal was spongy and no real braking power.found brake lines rusted thru and other signs of corrosion under body. Replace two lines.on october 24, 2012 truck lost braking power again.found more rusted out lines.
While slowing to execute a left turn, brake pedal went full travel.overshot the turn and had to proceed to the next available.had empty left turn lane available for increased stopping distance - hence no accident.checked brake reservoir and noticed brake fluid level was lower than last checked.able to limp home and found brake fluid leaking from underneath the bed area (above the fuel tank area).also noticed quit a bit of corrosion on all the brake lines as well as diesel fuel lines.truck was from new jersey area.

Came close to hitting an so cruiser in back when front brake lines blew out on left frame and at front wheel ,wondering if gm is doing anything about this problem ,been reading on google that it seems a lot of people are having the same thing going on looked at rest of lines and they are all almost rusted away ,i don't understand this i have a 1996 s10 blazer and the lines are just fine on this old of a vehicle ,i can't find anywhere there has been a recall ?

Brake line ruptured while towing load.76000 miles on the truck. I have owned this truck since 2004 and have parked it inside since owning it. Annual inspection and maintenance on drive train by mechanic. No warning that the brakes would fail.brake line over rear axle leaking fluid. Had the boat/trailer towed home by friend and took truck to repair shop for repair.
I was preparing to hook my 5th wheel and while positioning my truck i had lose of almost all braking. The brake pedal went to the floor without any warning. I noticed a massive amount of brake fluid under my drivers door. I then took it to a chevy dealership and they had to replace all the brake lines and i had to pay $1400,00. I baby my truck but the rust on the undercarriage is bad, the body and interior is pristine. We could have died if the brake line ruptured after my 5th wheel was going down the highway! i want gm to do the right thing and give me our money! i have all receipts from the chelsea chevy dealer.

On my 2001 chevy silverado 3500 pick up ,i took it to the dealer to be checked out because my brakes didn't act right so i took it in and a short time later i received a call from the dealer asking me how did i get the truck into the dealer because the brake line was gone rotted away .they had to replace all my brake lines for this truck. It was a good thing that it happened when it did because a few weeks later i would have been pulling my 33 foot 5th wheel and with that kind of weight i surely would have had a wreck.
Dt*:the contact stated while applying the brakes at various speeds the stopping distance is increased.the brakes react like a sponge whenever they are applied.the dealership and manufacturer were alerted.
Brake lines on my truck rusted thruand brakes failed while on the road. The rusted lines ran from the abs system to the master cylinder and front brakes. It occurred at low speedand i used emergency brake to get home. The lines have not been replaced as yet. I will save parts.
2002 chevrolet k-3500.anti-lock brake system is activating at slow speeds on dry roads with minimal brake pedal pressure, causing questionable braking and stopping ability.

Brake line failure for the second time. Rust thru.
Dt*: the contact stated the abs activated at 15 mph or less.there was a nhtsa recall, # 05v379000, regarding the service brakes, hydraulic; antilock.the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.
Abs pulsates on left front wheel when applied (a noise eminates from the left front wheel).dealer replaced right front hub and left low speed brake sensor.brakes still pulsated on left front side.returned to dealer and was told now the left hub needs replacing.(did not have replaced. )pulsation in brake system had not stopped after the two earlier repairs.have spent over $1000.00 for these repairs and do not feel the gm experts know what they are doing.want the problem resolved, but don't want to spend another $1000.00 only to find out that the problem still exists.is this problem a sign of a future safety issue?i haul a large fith wheel camper and fear brake failure after perusing the complaints on the gm abs system.
While driving at any speed and when applyng brakes, vehicle will pull to the left and will shimmy.vehicle was serviced 6 times. Dealer repaired the brakes; however, did not find a solution for the problem.vehicle still pulls to the left and steering shakes whenever stopping.condition is worse.*jg
Dt:the contact states at low speeds the abs activated.this is a company vehicle. The contactdoes not drive the vehicle, but the person who drives itreported the problem.the vehicle is currently at a dealership and it is still being inspected. Updated 11/16/2005 - upon inspection the dealer determined that the front wheel speed sensor was dropping out at low speeds.r&r sensors and cleaned corrosion, treated with corrosion resistant grease and reinstalled.
As a result of nhtsa campaign id number: 05v379000 i took my 2001 silverado to a certified gm dealer for repair of defect only to find out that although my 3500 has the same exact problem as the 1500, 2500, 3500 is not included in the recall according to gm dealer, it soaked me for $282.48. ,same [xxx] problem my truck only has 22,000 miles. I would like to be reimbursed by gm and i wonder how many 3500 owners have had to pay for this recall.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Front abs sensors on gmc 350 trucks. They are bad just like the 250 & 150 p/u trucks. We had too have ours fixed due to a near miss accident caused by not working properly under 10 mph shoud be a recall.
Intermittentlybrakes will go all the way to the floor.
