I received a recall notice #n182206311-04:safety recall - diesel engine block heater cord.the notice says that i need to get the cord and heater replaced with part number 19419326 as i risk an electrical short damaging engine components or an engine compartment fire.i do not want to risk that.i first received the notice in january, 2020.i was told then that the parts are on back order and that they would call me when they get the part in.no return call.i had another recall notice since and took it in to the chevy dealer today and was reminded of the prior recall notice regarding the block heater.i asked to have it replaced per recall notice.the dealership in henderson, nv can't get the part because gm will not ship it to nevada.i called gm today, 4/16/20, and spoke to [xxx], and then to her supervisor, [xxx].i explained that my wife and i are retired and drive this vehicle in states and areas that are extremely cold, i.e., we have a cabin at panguitch lake, ut (mountain lake) where winter temps. Get below zero.we go there every month, year round.we go to idaho to visit children where temps approach single digits.i go hunting in nevada and colorado mountains where temps. Get below zero (i use a generator to provide the power to heat the engine block).i need to have this recall problem taken care of for the safety of my truck, myself and family, and others who may be in close proximity to me should a problem flare up while driving.[xxx], a supervisor at gm, is adamant that i will not be able to get a new engine heater cord and heater.i was told it's their policy to only send units/parts to cold weather states.so if i lived in reno, nv where wintertime temps. Are consistently below 20 degrees, i would not get an engine block replacement heater and cord.i paid to have a working engine block heater and cord when i bought the truck.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I went to push the button for side mirror and rear window defrost and my daughter was in back seat said she smelled something and heard a buzzing noise . I didnt know what it was until today and i realized my rear defrost is not working but the mirrors do .
Feb 5th 2019 my truck was parked in my driveway and the blockheater eas plugged into my electrical outlet on my garage and at 1:00 a.m. I was awakened to a loud explosion. When i finally figured out the cause my truck and garage were on fire. 3 months later found out gm had recalled almost 400,000 trucks my same year, make and model due to engineblock heater cords shorting out apparently. I have yet to receive a notice on my truck. The accident was a total loss and there was damage done to my garage.## vin passed ## chevy silverado 2500 hd 2017 ##
Truck had 29599 miles when the engine block heater cord was replaced under recall.since then i have had the low coolant warning come up 5 different times.each time it has come up i have topped off the coolant.after topping off the time between subsequent top offs varies but there is an issue that is causing the coolant to get low.
Low coolant warning message, this is a problem with 2015-2019 chevrolet 2500 hd vehicles.they have a bulletin to correct to eliminate, but does not work.problem was addressed at 23213 miles 7/23/2018, and now again at just under 60,000 miles september 2019.per chevrolet warranty, the affected parts should be covered under the engine emission warranty for 8 years 80,000 miles.chevrolet warranty claiming this coolant sensor is covered by the 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.this error message comes on repeatedily an makes you have to stop and check coolant level, which is ok, but must be checked.sensor is bad and chevrolet will not cover under the stated warranty and states repairs are in excess of $600.00.i have left messages for a supervisor to call me, to no avail. The problem is so wide spread, parts are on national back order and chevrolet is aware of this.i personally believe they are trying to avoid a recall and control their financial exposure by telling customers this part is not covered under the correct portion of their warranty.this started in july 23, 2018 through current.copies of warranty information will be attached as well as photo of warning message.this is a consumer emergency, many owners are experiencing the same problem.
The contact owns a 2017 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v328000 (engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Dan cummins chevrolet buick (1020 m.l.k. Jr blvd, paris, ky 40361) was contacted and confirmed that the part was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair.the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact was then informed that a senior advisor would contact her next week to discuss her options moving forward. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.
Truck had 13758 miles and oil was found to be weeping from the front of the oil pan.truck was taken to all american chevy of midland.tech acknowledged there was an oil leak but could not find where it was coming from.uv dye was added to oil and i was asked to come back in 2 weeks.after 2 weeks i went back and the tech said that because it was raining he could not find where the leak was coming from.truck taken to a different dealer and they were unable to find where the leak was coming from.oil leak remains.
I was stopped at a stoplight, when the light turned green, i let off the brake and the truck took off at full throttle. I never even had time to touch the gas pedal, it went from 0 to 60 in less than 1/2 a block. I thought it may have been a cruise control issue and tried several times to turn it off, but didn't slow down one bit. When we got out of town, i let off the brakes and it continued to gain speed until we hit 75 mph. I again engaged the brakes, turned a corner to get off the road, and when i turned, the truck went back to normal. It was like a switch was turned off. The entire incident lasted about 5 minutes, but if we had snow or ice on the road as is usual this time of year, it surely would have resulted in a serious accident.

Truck had 13758 miles and a/c would not work in temperatures above 100 degf when sitting at idle.while moving the system would cool a little.initially took to all american chevy of midland and they could not replicate the problem.took the truck to a second dealership, sewell gmc of midland and they were also unable to replicate the problem.i took the truck back to sewell gmc of midland and they were able to find the problem.the fan clutch was replaced.they were unable to repair it under warranty since it was 4 months out of warranty with 29599 miles.i had to pay for 40% of the repair cost despite the issue first occuring while in warranty.but because the two dealerships could not diagnose a bad fan clutch i was stuck with 40% of the bill.gm customer service involved, gave me a $100 service voucher.letters sent to ceo and vp of global manufacturing.no resolution because the "factory trained technicians" were unable to find the problem.

During night hours only, the backup camera is so bright (inside the cab) it is hard to navigate when backing. You can not see your mirrors. I almost ran a kid over once and i almost hit a parked car. There is no dimmer for the brightness on the display.
Rear wheel bearing adjustment nut, stripped the threads and became lose, causing additional damage to the break rotors.it also caused the seal on the rear axle to leak. Took in to mechanic to see why it was leaking. Mechanic was surprised that i didn't lose a rear wheel. Will provide photos from mechanic when available.
Ii took my 2017 1500 silverado i purchased 11/2020 that had about 9500 miles to the chevy service center and stated while driving my vehicle when coming to a stopduring the 2-1 downshifting of the transmission a very loud clunking noise and at the same time it feels like something hit the rear of the vehicle. Upon starting from a stop sign or stop light the 1-2 shifting of the transmission makes the same loud clucking noise and it feels like something hit the vehicle was in the rear again. The chevy service person stated that in the vehicles history, the prior owner had the factory update and reprogram the transmission to try to correct my current issues. I then left the dealership with the same issues prior to my visit. On 7/21/2020 i was having my vehicle serviced for a factory recall for the rear widow defrost. I stated again to the chevy service about my continued transmission driveline clunking issues. According to my service paperwork the sevice tech stated the transmission is operating as normal, but attached to my service paperwork stating bulletin#pit5161g normal characteristic-bump feel or clunk noise after a stop {affecting gmc chevy years 2007-2020 and also up dated# bulletin #99-04-002k information on driveline clunk {oct 29 2019}. To date 9/17/2020 i am still having the same driving issues.
The contact owns a 2017 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30-35 mph, the vehicle failed to shift gears correctly. The vehicle was taken to sherrell chevrolet inc; (2258 n 1st st, hermiston, or 97838, (541) 567-6487) where the mechanic cleaned the transmission sensor and the fuel injectors however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic stated that the vehicle needed to be seen by a specialist from chevrolet. The contact stated that the dealer reassembled the transmission however, the transmission failure worsened. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 28,044 and was under all new warranties .*dt consumer contacted chevy customer assistance and case number [xxx] was issued and case worker dalea, phone number 866-790-5600 on 8/18/20. Consumer contacted another dealer and was told the same thing transmission needs to replaced.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).ā€¯
Transmission shifts extremely hard causing a loud clunk and the vehicle to lunge forward. This is experienced a lot during slowing down at yield signs or when starting out in traffic. The truck experience a split second delay in acceleration and then suddenly shifts very hard lunging forward. Gm motors dealership acknowledges there is an issue, but they don't have a solution and gm engineers are having them tell the consumers the transmission is operating as designed despite their own service techs and service managers and district managers stating there is a problem. After 3 different attempts to get this resolved i filed a compliant with gm case # 8-3228178744 that remains unresolved as of today. There are thousands of gm 8-speed transmission owners highly upset over this as many if not all escalade, corvette and truck owners have this issue. A mandatory recall is in order. In my opinion this is clearly a safety issue that should be addressed before someone is seriously injured.

Right rear wheel hub nut backed off damaging housing spindle threads and slightly bending the housing. Gm will not replace housing even though it appears that a crack is forming where it was stressed.there is a recall for this problem but my truck is not involved. Gm will not check the left side like the recall says should be done also.i believe that there is a crack starting to form and could be a problem while driving in the future.

The contact owns a 2017 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving in reverse down a hill there was an abnormal popping noise detected. The contact depressed the brakes however they were soft and failed to respond. The accelerator pedal was depressed but failed to respond. The emergency brake was engaged however, failed to respond. The contact crashed into the mountain.there were no warning lights illuminated. There were no reported injuries.the vehicle was restarted and worked as designed.an independent mechanic test drove the vehicle but was unable to determine the cause of the failure.the local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 126,047.
Same issue as current recall on 1500 series trucks but not on the 2500 series (which mine is). Pedal now very spongy, have to pump them to get adequate braking. This occurs at highway speeds and local driving. Panic stops require engaging the parking brake to prevent a crash. Have had it in twice for service but all they are trying to do is reprogram. There are other issues with the vacumn pump, hydroboost, master cylinder which they are apparently unwilling to address. Why the 2500 and 3500 trucks were not included in the recall is the question of the day. I am not driving the truck any more than necessary as it is unsafe. This complaint is a matter of record of the issue.
Not sure where burning smell is coming from. Brakes? engine? tires?after driving longer than 30 miles i can small something, like burning.
Hard steering when going 25 mph and faster has digatal assist steering fells like no assist at all.
2017 silverado reverse camera at night there is no control to turn down brightness. It is so bright that this causes a serious safety issue trying to back up and use passenger side mirror. Other 2017 radios allow for adjustment 2016 and 2015 allowed driver to adjust brightness. I have to cover screen to back up.
Takata recall, first the truck was overheating, then oil leaking, then and tire truck full of rust spots and still rusty inbadging, then $14,000 repair to replace the entire rear end of the truck, they said the wheels were going to fall off. I bought this truck new, it has 30,000 miles.i paid$87,000. I contacted chevy corporate office, no response i contacted bob bell of bel air maryland where i bought the truck also no response.
The contact owns a 2017 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact noticed severe rust on the axles, cab mounts, and shocks. The dealer (valley chevrolet of hastings, 2929 mn-316, hastings, mn 55033, (651) 319-5757) inspected the vehicle. The manufacturer refused to provide a remedy to the dealer to prevent the rust from occurring and closed the case with no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000. The vin was not available.

Owner of both a 2017 duramax and a tahoe from new. Duramax had just turned 21,000 miles this winter. Returned from fishing sunday night and plugged the truck into a heavy guage extension cord. My family and i were woken at 3am early january to a vehicle alarm. Turns out the truck had started fire. Luckly the alarm was audible long enough to wake us. By the time i had reached the keys, it had stopped. A peek out the window showed a culprit i hadn't anticipated. Inspectors found the source in the location of the block heater. No wiring chared beyond the front of the truck. Continued contact with gm has yet to reveal any information. I loved the truck and would like to know if the issue is something that may kill us next time. With the recall of fords block heater issues, i feel that this something that should be answered.
Just received a letter from general motors with a page that is to be inserted into my owners manual. The issue it purports to solve is that the manual states that if this truck has forward collision alert, it also has forward automatic braking & intelligent brake assist. That is incorrect & this alert is to correct that error.but, the manual insert provided is nonsense. It has no page number to tell us where to insert the new page; there are 2 sections relating to this in the manual. The insert also says it only applies to 1500 series trucks. Mine is a 2500 series. So why send this. Gm has messed this up and it seems to me you need to call them on it to provide correct inserts for the 2 manual areas to which it applies. That should include correct information and page numbers. Otherwise the material i received is irrelevant to correcting the original error. I am a retired government performance auditor, so serious mistakes in correcting problems concern me.
