I have had several electrical issues as wiring harness rub through behind the left cylinder head, right side of dashboard cracking above passenger side airbag which was reported and nothing done as replies ,i see this as a danger to me and passengers as it may blow up and hurt or kill occupants and electrical issues are a fire hazard as personal safety .

Not the actual air bag, but the plastic dash around it. Known cracking in the dash will cause it to shatter during air bag deployment causing possible injuries due to pieces becoming projectiles. Gm is well aware of this defect in the manufacture of the dash.

Dash is cracking around airbag. Mine cracked just sitting. This seams to be an ongoing issue within the gm community. These dashes are cracking and could cause someone to be injured should the vehicle get into an impact and not only the airbag deploy but plastic shards project ahead of the airbag.

"takata recall" received a safety recall notice by maildated july 2016 regarding the front passenger air bag inflators can malfunction.over the last year and a half i have contacted several dealerships in my area for a replacement. I was told that there was an ongoing court battle where takata claims that their is nothing wrong with the original installed inflator.the dealerships told me thatthey do not have replacement parts and would not install a replacement part until the court case was settled. No injuries have happened yet because the vehicle has not been in an accident. However i fear that someone may be injured or killed if an accident in this vehicle occurs.

My 2009 silverado 2500hd service air bag light comes on intermittently, hit a bump and it goes out, comes on again many times during driving. I can move the wiring harness under the dash and duplicate this issue. The chevrolet dealer says that i must leave the truck there because it will be lengthy in troubleshooting which will be costly according to them.

The dash is cracked in multiple places around the airbags, i am worried if i get in a accident the broken dash will be deadlymy truck has below 60,000 miles

Got in my truck today to find cracks in the dash around the passenger airbag. Concerns me that if the airbag were to deploy it would send sharp pieces of dash flying into the face of the passenger. Vehicle was not in motion when i found the cracks.

Was passing a vehicle and the throttle stuck wide open after i kicked it into passing gear, at about 90 mph, after trying to kick the throttle off, pulling on the floor mat to make sure it wasn't the problem, i finally put both feet on the brake pedal and tried to get the pickup slowed down as the engine was still pulling hard, finally after getting the speed down toabout 75-80 mph the throttle finally let go and i was able to slow the vehicle down, took it to the dealer where i purchased it and they couldn't get it to do it again, after talking to the factory people they decided to put a new foot peddle on it because that's where the brains are for the run by wire for the engine, took it home and it did it again two days later, took it back to the dealer and they had it for a month and couldn't get it to do it again, so they gave it back to me saying they couldn't find anything wrong, i know what to do when it happens to me,but my wife wouldn't so i wont let her drive it until the issue is resolved.have you heard of any problems with the chevrolet h.d. With the 6.0 litter gas engine?

The seat belts lock in place and constrict my young children to the point my wife has to crawl through the seats and do a quick release, the electric door locks on both rear and the passenger front will not release even when you push the manuel release on the master switch of the drivers door. I have been in contact with gm corp. They have informed me that it is my tough luck that's the way the seat belts are designed and they have no issues with the door locks. In checking the internet you can see there are many complaints on this. It is a hazardous situation. They informed me its up to my dealer if they will fix it or not.....they declined to

While driving normally (35-40 mph on a residential road) in dry conditions, the check engine light illuminates and the onboard error message reads "service traction control, service stabilitrak, engine power down." consequently, the vehicle will not travel faster than approximately 40 mph and steering sharply becomes difficult. This error has occurred twice in the 11 weeks we have had our new 2009 silverado 2500 hd.with the first repair (odometer 1101 miles), they could not find anything wrong with the truck. They just reset the computer.the second repair was 4 days ago (3948 miles).they found the "i/p to body harness connector corroded, cleaned the terminals, and applied dielectric grease."we are extremely fearful that this defect will occur again while we are towing a 5500 pound travel trailer.without steering, stability and engine power a serious accident could occur.when my concerns were explained to the local gm dealership, the general manager stated that he could not guarantee that they could fix our truck or guarantee it would be safe to tow a trailer.

About 4 months ago, the passenger side headlamp harness melted, and almost caught fire.i had it replaced, and thought of it as a "one off" type situation.however, recently, the driver side did the same exact thing! upon research, i found that it is happening all over the place to them.i am not an isolated incident.the real danger here is this- what happens if both melt at the same time??? aside from the danger of fire, the larger, more pressing danger is losing both lights at once.the consumer (driver) would essentially be blind, and in the panic may not think to turn the high beams on.this is a real problem, and if not addressed could have dire consequences.i implore you to research how many headlamp harnesses have been sold (as the only reason to replace would be because of this) and address it before someone loses sight, and crashes.something so small, would really be a tragedy to have a loss of life over.when the fix is simply using a bigger wire that can handle the amps.hopefully nobody has been injured yet!

Not all of the gauge lights work on the instrument panel.some work like they are supposed to and others don't work at all.checked fuses and everything else i could and all is well.has to be something wrong with the cluster.i have heard of other chevrolet's having similar problem.gauges work fine its the lights that don't work.

The electrical current going through the wiring harness is inconsistent.my trailer brakes do not work correctly.

The engine shut off on the freeway at speed and i lost all control of the vehicles steering and braking. It said it was a crankshaft position sensor problem. Went to the dealer and they said it was a dirty sensor. Also have had and on going problem with low oil pressure 10 lb at idle and 20 lb at speed.it also runs very rough at idle. Also have an on going problem with noise from the transmission and a hard shifting or slipping transmission. It also makes a load noise when turning the steering wheel when turning, and has gotten worse over time.

Loss in fuel tank pressure. Structural stressing causing leaks at tank, fuel pump module connector and fuel supply hose. Dtc codes p0446 / p0451. Evap leak located in top tank port and associated direct connection secondary cracking of the plastic fuel supply line at tank top. Tank cracked at port. Cracking due to stress from normal driving vibrations as these ares are protected from road hazards.resulting gas leak will cover tank and metal shroud. Fire hazard from leaking gas.

Traveling at about 45 mph with about 3 to 4 car lengths between us, traffic immediately and abruptly stopped. I stomped on the brake pedal only to find it hard and rigid with little response. The truck slowed but would not stop. I rear ended the car in front of me. Resulting in substantial damage to my truck as well as the other car, also a ticket for me. The truck didn't slide, jerk or anything, just gradually slowed till impact. I drive a tractor-trailer that has better braking response.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado 2500. While driving approximately 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed, but the brakes failed to operate. The service trailer brakes warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 148,000. The vin was not available.

Service trailer brake system message came on. Next day chevy found "circuits rubbing on bracket... Repaired, covered harness with conduit..repositioned away from e-brake..."dealer found chevy doc#2491825 that warns the dealership of "wiring chaff concern ear the e-brake pedal" but no notice was sent to owners.truck manual on page 3-37 says to take it to a dealer if the message remains on after the ignition is cycled on and off. Message did not return, but took in anyway.chevy dealer said computer records show this condition was detected a number of times but we received only one single message on the digital information center. A brake system failure while rv or commercial towing downhill or on wet roads could lead to catastrophic results-owners should be notified and affected vehicles inspected.

Brake failure on two occasions, second failure resulted in vehicle damage.

I have a 2009 chevy silverado hd 4x4. I june of 2011 after owning the truck 1 monthi began hearing a clunking noise that seems to be coming from the right front wheel area. After taking it to the dealership where they could not hear the noise or find the problem the noise has gotten worse and i can now feel it through the floor board. It is the end of july 2011 now and i wonder if im going to live every time i round a bend.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd. The contact stated that while trying to depress the brake pedal to stop at a 4-way stop sign, the brakes applied "hard" as if he had made a panic stop. As he was leaving the 4-way stop and driving up a hill, he tried to turn the corner and had much difficulty doing so. He heard a popping sound and the difficulty continued. However, a short time later, the steering seemed to correct itself. The contact took the vehicle to the dealership but was told that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The contact felt that the power brake that was hooked to the power steering may have contributed to the failure and maybe the power steering pump may have been faulty. He had not called the manufacturer to-date. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current mileage was approximately 6,500. The failure mileage was approximately 6,400.

Went to the store and saw my dash had a crack in it. It was in my driveway locked. Nobody had access to it.

The dash is cracking in 2 spots. This seems to be a safety hazard during an accident and when the airbag is deployed.

Dash around the air bag and in front of instrument cluster started cracking shortly after warrantee was out. I contacted chevrolet and they said it was because of the sun. I told them i bought it in florida and i'm sure the sun doesn't shine there. What am i suppose to do keep it in the garage and never take it out. They offer me 100.00 towards the repair. That was an insult to a clear manufactures defect. The plastic upon a collision could become a flying projectile that could cause serious injury.

The chrome plating is peeling off the drivers interior door handle that has created a sharp surface and has already cut my wife's hand. Upon researching the issue further it was found there is a service bulletin directly related to this exact issue. The problem is the bulletin is only referencing 2007 model year's specifically. The bulletin was released in july/august of 2010 so many years from 2007 ' 2009 were affected by this defect. In the document page 51 of 86 specifically mentions model year 2007 ' 2009 chevrolet silverado and gmc sierra and denali trucks equipped with rpos an3, y91, or gat. My truck has rpo code an3 and the handle is peeling. I have already contacted chevy customer care and inquired about this defect but they are not willing to admit to or repair the defect free of cost as per this bulletins extended coverage of 10 years or 100,000 miles. I am reporting this case in hopes that you can help my situation or provide some feedback on how i can get this resolved.ea10-004 gm 8-16-2010 #09239 service bulletin

The dash has cracked in two places. One of them is located at the air bag.

While driving on a highway the truck started to shake, we immediately pulled into a garage and had the tires checked out.it was determined that both the front passenger side tire and the rear tire, same side, had a tread separation.these tires had 18,000 miles on them. They should have lasted a lot longer.we were fortunate we were not traveling on an interstate at a high rate of speed.

The dash on my truck has a crack in the corner by the passenger air bag.also it is cracked in front the of driver.both pose risks to the occupants as it could come apart and shards fly upon impact.plus the crack is right next to pass air bag and that air bag goes up and into the windshield and out.with the crack beside the air bag there is no guarantee the bag will deploy correctly with the no support around it.i have been looking and noticed thousands of these dashes have cracked which is concerning. I had actually taken it in several years ago (2012) and they denied fixing it then but i have realized the major issue that it has become.

Dashboard is cracked

Plastic dash has cracked 1st by the passenger side airbag, then the middle, and now the driver side. I have glued the dash trying to stop the rattling. I first noticed it about a year ago , not sure if it happened while driving or stationary. It has reduced the cosmetic value of my truck, and if i get in a wreck it could possibly send shards of plastic into eyes, and or body causing bodily harm.

Dash cracks around passenger air bag and cracks over instrument panel.

Crack in the dash next to the passenger airbag. Concerns that it may have a negative impact to the passenger airbag and safety. Appears to be due to a design flaw, as there is no support and cheap materials.

Dash crack on the passenger side of the dash, left corner of the airbag. Also dash cracked over instrument cluster. Chevrolet dealer claims its not a safety issued, but will not place the claim in writing.

Not the actual air bag, but the plastic dash around it. Known cracking in the dash will cause it to shatter during air bag deployment causing possible injuries due to pieces becoming projectiles. Gm is well aware of this defect in the manufacture of the dash.

Got in my truck today to find cracks in the dash around the passenger airbag. Concerns me that if the airbag were to deploy it would send sharp pieces of dash flying into the face of the passenger. Vehicle was not in motion when i found the cracks.

The dash has cracked in 4 different places, two of which is next to the passenger side airbag. The dash cracked during a front end collision at a stop sign on a farm to market road.

While pulling a horse trailer up a small mountain, heard alarm, engine lost power and reduced engine power message came up as well as ck eng light.vehicle would not go over 40 mph initially then went down to 30 mph.struggled 15 miles at 20-30 mph to get it to my residence.turned off for 15-20 minutes.turned back on, ran normally but ck eng light was still on.next morning, started up, ck eng light was off.took to dealer.said there were no codes and they had no idea what was wrong.i had to travel on a dual highway, pulling a horse trainer at 20-30 mph with my flashers on.also had to turn across dual highway on at grade intersections, not knowing of the truck was going to have enough acceleration to get across the highway.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado 2500.the vehicle was purchased in march of 2009.since that time, the vehicle accelerates suddenly.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer on four occasions.on one occasion, while slowing down for a traffic light at 20 mph, the vehicle proceeded to move forward while the brake pedal was depressed.the vehicle stopped when the ignition was turned off.the dealer was unable to diagnose the failures; however, they installed a device that should be able to read the electronic activities.the contact is concerned that he might crash into another vehicle due to the unexpected acceleration.the manufacturer filed report number 71-7284 and stated that the report will be closed because the failure was intermittent.the failure mileage was 2,000 and current mileage was 5,000.updated 06/12/09 updated 06/16/09.

The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that when depressing the accelerator pedal, there was a slight delay of several seconds before the vehicle would respond. Once the vehicle did engage, it would accelerate rapidly and uncontrollably. The contact also stated that when releasing the accelerator pedal, it would take several seconds before the vehicle would decelerate. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told there was nothing that could be done to remedy the issue with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 10 and the current mileage was 50,000... Updated 02-07-13 the consumer stated the vehicle is dangerous to drive on snow covered and slippery roads. When accelerating from a stop sign or a corner, the sudden uncontrolable acceleration is dangerous. Not being able to decelerate the engine usually causes the vehicle to spin out of control.
