The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. While the toddler was placed in the driver seat of the vehicle, she turned the key to the accessory position. The vehicle rolled down the hill and crashed into a tree. The air bags did not deploy. The toddler did not sustain any injuries. A police report was not filed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 215,000.

7-12-14, 11:15 mtn time my wife and i were driving westbound on i-76, in a 2006 chevy silverado, 2500 hd duramax diesel towing a 24" catalina 5th wheel, approximately 6,500 lbs, in the right hand lane, at approximately 50 mph in commerce city, co approaching 104th ave. At the 104th ave overpass a drunk driver pulled out from behind the overpass support column in the center medium area of the divided highway approximately 1-2 car lengths in front of us. We immediately hit his vehicle in the right rear. At the time he was moving forward 2-5 mph. The collision was catastrophic with very significant damage to all vehicles. The front airbags of the 2006 chevy silverado did not deploy. This vehicle is a one owner vehicle. In 2007 it was involved in a frontal accident in which a driver turned in front of the driver at an intersection resulting in a frontal collision at 35 mph and the frontal airbags did not deploy. Chevy did the repair and certified the repair of the vehicle.

Air bag warning light coming on, have never had an accident in this truck.

Going down a snowy gravel road and lost control. Hit a ditch/snow bank head on at approx. 30mph. Air bags did not deploy. As a result driver sustained hand injury, a broken jaw requiring surgery, and other minor bodily injuries. Vehicle had 313,000 miles

Another persons vehicle lost control and hit the vehicle that i was driving.this caused me to loose control and crash into the concrete median.

Blower motor for the hvac started all by its self and ran full blast. The control panel had no effect on the system . I could not control or shut off the blower. Even when the truck was parked, in park and shut down and the keys removed the blower continued to run at full blast. Had to disconnect the battery. Later after having to drive the truck to work i followed the fuse schematic and removed the green i believe fuse breaker from the under hood fuse box. I have left this fuse removed so the battery doesn't run down.

2006 chev hd2500 blower motor quit working. Tested and found blower motor control module electrical terminal melted along with pigtail connector. We were told by chevrolet dealership this is a common problem. Replaced control module along with pigtail. Dealership has these parts in stock. May possibly be a fire hazard.

Wiring harness fire occurred in a 2006 chevrolet silverado. Fire is being further investigated.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500hd. While driving approximately 10 mph with the air conditioner on, the contact smelled a burning odor and suddenly the air conditioner failed to operate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated the air conditioner blower resistor and wiring harness would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 36,900.updated 8/30/11

Transmission slipping, banging periodically 1,2,3 gear and down shift. Transmission gauge red-lined, now is not properly showing temp. Oil gauge is moving 0 to 80 all the time.some lights have been going out on panel and steering wheel.check engine light on and off.transmission company diagnosed as a possible electrical issue and chevy states the transmission bang and slip is common and no repairs are needed?help.

Upon starting my truck, the oil pressure gauge immediately goes to 80 with no acceleration.at this point, there is no noise or other lights coming on to warn of other problems.this problem started a few days ago.when truck is in motion the oil pressure gauge continues to stay on 80.i know the 2006 chevy 2500 heavy duty4x4 have had recalls on different things, but need to see if this is a problem for other chevy trucks as well.i have read several recalls about these trucks and a lot of them we have never been notified to take it to a dealer to be checked.any help you can give us would be deeply appreciated.

Appears gm's faulty blower motor resistor has claimed my 2nd truck. Fire started while parked in parking lot. Fire occurs on passenger side around glove box and grows. This truck gave no indication of "melting wires" there was no smell or smoke when parked.this part of a special coverage #10240

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500.while driving approximately 40 mph on normal road conditions, the contact heard a loud whistling noise coming from the instrument panel on the passenger side.there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection, but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure.it was suggested that the failure could possibly have been related to the heater core gasket.on five separate occasions, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for identical failures, but there were no resolutions.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 8,000 and current mileage was 21,700. Updated 04/21/09.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500.whenever the contact drives the vehicle at various speeds, he smells burning wire underneath the dashboard on the passenger side.the vehicle has not been diagnosed.the current mileage was 62,000 and failure mileage was 10,000.

Interior heat & a/c blower motor fan suddenly turned on full without warning.could not turn off.would not stop even with key removed from ignition.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd. The contact stated that the smoke began to flow into the cab of the vehicle and the fan stopped functioning. The contact noticed that the wiring harness to the relay was the cause of the failure. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the wiring harness and relay were replaced. The contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. The current mileage was approximately 55,000. The failure mileages were approximately54,000.

Ac blower wiring harness under glovebox overheating and smelt like electrical fire, as i checked wiring noticed that wires were red hot and smoldering.

Wiring to the blower motor is getting to hot and has melted the plug connector. Blower will work off and on. Seen this complaint in many forums. Something needs to be done to correct this problem before it results in a fire.

Blower fan speed quits, wiring is melted apart from too much amperage. This is going to cause fires if it has not already done so. Our company has 8 of these trucks and all of them are doing this. Chevy 1500's and 2500 trucks.

Gm mad a faulty bolt design and no one is holding them accountable. I have 3 broken manifold bolts and the dealership wants $2100 to repair. There are thousands upon thousands of others just like me who are helpless. Why are you and the epa doing nothing? the vehicle can't pass emissions like this!

Exhaust manifold bolts are broken off on both sides of the 6.0 engine, causing exhaust fumes in the passenger compartmentwhen i driving the vehicle. I have owned this vehicle since new and have never had any engine work done to this vehicle.

Vehicle under carriage looks more like a 30 year old vehicle. Brakes lines have failed causing extended stopping distance or swerving off road to avoid collision. Oil cooler lined ruptured and leaked oil on exhaust manifold, a potential fire hazard, especially when all the exhaust manifolds rotted as well so hot exhaust gases are not directed out the exhaust, also a concern for poisoning occupants with toxic exhaust gases . Power steering fittings rotted causing loss of steering. Gm is useless, when i contacted them they said it is the environment. I asked them why a toyota and acura, both 8 years older showed no such failures or even signs of rust on critical components. Gm responded that they couldn't answer that question. Hmmm, i wonder why. In 39 years of driving, it is the most i ever paid for a vehicle, 48,000 dollars, and the manufacturer refuses any assistance. That's the thanks for bailing them out. It has also had wires to blower motor burn, rear brake rotors rotted away at 22,000 miles, ground wires under hood have rotted and fallen of... More potential hazards, a/c compressor seized a came apart. I could go on and on. There needs to be a serious investigation into gm and.the poor quality and lack of concern for the safety of the public. It is by far the worst vehicle i have owned, ever.

The line running from the transmission to the radiator is extremely prone to leaking due to a weak/improper crimp in the hose. As time goes on transmission fluid is depleted and could lead to transmission failure. The leak is widespread across most allison transmissions due to a faulty hose crimp and leaks through the crimp in the hose.

Bolt head is snapped off on the left exhaust manifold on the rear most bolt. I know of many others who have this same problem and i believe that their should be a recall on the defective bolts used in these vehicles.

2006 chevy 2500hd engine compartment caught on fire 7 hours after truck was driven at 4am. Truck was totaled.

Engine idler pulley seized causing serpentine belt to break which resulted in loss of power steering and loss of power brakes..2 local gm dealer parts department's stated this is common on the duramax diesel engine.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500.the contact noticed smoke rising from the hood of the parked vehicle.he lifted the hood and flames were present.the fire department extinguished the fire.the dealer was not notified and the cause of failure was unknown.the vehicle was destroyed.the current and failure mileages were 30,000.

2006 chevrolet 2500 pick-up w/8.1 motor.first there was faulty hoses causing low oil warning to come on.now engine is low on oil with 1800 miles since last oil change.had to put in 1 1/4 quart of oil.after engine break in.i switched to mobile 1 5w30 synethic.a recommended oil to use by chevrolet.dealers service dept.says its suppose to use a quart to 2000miles.i don't believe that with the modern technology of engines. Maybe years ago but not now.if that's the case then chevrolet should have said this engine uses oil.i guarantee you not many would have been sold.

I purchased 2006 silverado new and after the 1st year noticed rusting.just before it came off warranty (2009) the coolant line from the radiator and the brake rotors (front and rear) had rusted through. Have since replaced the rotors again and now my brake line burst open as i was driving home.entire undercarriage is rusted (frame is peeling up in layers), there is rust coming through the bumpers, on the wheels, in the bed, inside the driver's door - basically everywhere i look (i filed a complaint with chevrolet in 2010 about the excessive rusting and was told, after inspection by local dealer, that there was "no abnormal rusting found").i baby this truck (it only has 26,000 miles and is not driven on the roads when they are salted) and keep it very clean.i am afraid for my safety as i do not know what is going to fail next.today i spoke with chevrolet again about the brake lines, again inspected at the local dealer, and was told that it was "normal wear and tear" and caused by environmental conditions.in addition, i was told that the rotors and calipers are rusted through and must be replaced.how is it possible to conclude that the corrosion is due solely to environmental factors and not at all due to material choice and lack of appropriate coating?i am only asking that they cover the replacement of the brake lines and they do not feel obligated to do so.they do not believe it is poor design or subpar materials.(neither of my other two vehicles, 1993 toyota pickup and 2004 volvo, show rusting of the undercarriage to the same degree as the silverado and the brake lines of both other vehicles are completely intact.all three vehicles have been subjected to the same environmental conditions.)

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500.the contact heard a piercing noise whenever the fan was activated for either the heat or air conditioner.the noise lasts the entire time the vehicle is being driven.the failure was first noticed while driving 50 mph.the contact has taken the vehicle to the dealer three times for this failure.the dealer stated that this was a normal characteristic of the vehicle.the current mileage was 13,635 and failure mileage was 10,200.updated 12-12-07.updated

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving various speeds he could hear a ticking sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that three of the exhaust manifold bolts were fractured, causing a leak that needed to be replaced . The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 73,000 and current mileage was 77,000.

2006 chevrolet silverado 6.6 liter turbo diesel.transmission cooler lines are leaking. Both the lower trans. Cooler line and trans. Cooler line from the radiator to the aux. Truck has 59 000 miles on it. Issue has been repaired by dealer that informed that this should not happen and that lines quality are to blame definitely not wear and tear( ref model and mileage).why is there no factory recall on this failure?

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet 2500 hd.while driving downhill between 30-50 mph, the transmission began shifting out of gear unexpectedly when the brake pedal was depressed.the road surface was icy.the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel and remained illuminated until the engine was turned off.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was related to a blocked heater cord.the vehicle was repaired.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 37,000 and current mileage was 37,400.

Safety recall notice concerning the chevrolet hd2500 silverado loading of passenger and bed weight of the vehicle.a notice and door jam sticker was supplied by gm to correct the capacity of the vehicle by approximately 300 pounds due to tire selection and/or rims.i am not satisfied with the recall and wish to know more about the recall.on the letterhead, it is noted that this is a "safety recall notice" as opposed to a mis-labeling of the vehicle from the factory.vin number of the 2006 silverado is [xxx].i believe that gm should step up and offer the customer an explanation for the recall and instead of reducing the weight capacity of the vehicle in lieu of actually fixing the problem, either by replacing the tires and/or rims.i have contacted gm and the representative would not share anymore information that what was stated in the recall notice.he recorded the phone call and said it will be sent to the "dissatisfied" customer internally with gm.i don't expect to receive a call due to legal reasons. My chevy diesel pick-up truck dies for 2-3 seconds when driving at medium speeds (50mph) and i floor the throttle. 2 dealers have told me this is normal, it is a lag due to the turbo. Everyone else i talk to that has this truck tells me they have the same problem. However, ford and dodge diesel trucks with turbos do not have this problem unless the turbo is defective. Also i have been told by some people who add a chip and adjusted such things as shift points etc. This problem goes alwaysin 45 years of driving many vehicles i have never encountered such a safety issue.this needs to be corrected.

My 2006 chevrolet 2500 hd diesel has had a vapor lock on the fuel filter @ least 3 times in one week. When it happens the vehicle just shuts down. This is very unsafe as you have very little or no breaks and steering. Just missed a car the first time it happened because i could not steer out of harms way fast enough. The second time i just missed a pedestrian in a parking lot. I just could not imagine what would happen the freeway.

Started my truck up on may 04 2010 and noticed fuel gauge showed empty.i had just filled it up the night before.took it to my dealer and he determined it was a bad sending unit.my truck had about 16000 miles on it.turn the problem over to gm with no satisfaction.i then checked the internet and found severalproblems of this nature.when the repair people took it in for repair they found extensive corrosion and other parts had to be replaced to the tune of $900.00.i feel this is defective equipment and gm should be responsible.

Using appropriate fuel per duramax diesel guide, fuel filter failed requiring replacement at my cost.

We brought our 2006 chevrolet silverado with around 73,000 miles on it to a repair shop for a tune up and we were told the following: 'the fuel lines are very rusted (starting to seep back by the tank area) the brake lines are very rusted, the truck will need rear brakes very soon, all brake hoses will need to be replaced, the bleeders on calipers are rusted out, the shimmy shock in the front end is blown apart, has a lot of play in the idler arm, front shocks rusted & leaking, rear shocks rusted, rear end cover rusted, the transfer case tail shaft is leaking, the frame is rusted & getting thin in spots, has at least three broken exhaust manifold studs'we understand that brake pads and calipers are usual repairs and maintenance.however, the vehicle is only six years old and the truck should not be very rusted.we called chevrolet and opened a case to review the rust issues.we brought the truck to a dealership as requested by chevrolet for a visual inspection.using document id #2758961, the technicians determined 'no repair or consideration should be given for this concern - surface corrosion on unprotected components will vary with age and exposure.corrosion on these components will vary with age and exposure.corrosion on these components has no detrimental impacts, either in short or long term durability."however, they explained that if they were us, they would replace the brake and fuel lines.the chevrolet case worker called the dealer and confirmed the findings.he explained to us that the rust was due to environmental factors and normal wear and tear.we tried to get a definition of environmental factors, however the worker would not explain further..the truck resides in the north east; it is subjected, as all vehicles are, to many environmental factors every day.

General motors pickup hood mounted latch fatigue.i have noticed complete separation and severe wear in the welded engine compartment hood latch that could result in the hood coming up at high speed and either blinding the driver or the hood separating from the vehicle upon failure of the hood latch.

Driver door ajar: driver information always shows that the door is notclose. Because it is an electrical or equipment malfunction it is not covered bythe bumper to bumper warranty anymore. Problem developed a few weeks ago. My odometer was 38500 miles. The dome lights has to be turned off manually. No entry lights because due to the malfunction of the door latch the interior lights have to be off. It creates a safety issue atnight time. Why do i have you pay to have it fixed ?

The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.

2006 2500hd, transmission cooler line leaking and both oil cooler lines leaking. Oil cooler lines were replaced in 2007 under warranty. Brought truck into dealer today, (23 nov 2009) oil cooler lines replaced, transmission line ordered. Deal said that it is a known problem but chevy will not recall. Are they waiting for a fire and death to occur? this is a know problem and should be a recall to replace these lines at no cost. Paid$437 today and will pay $262 on wed. When the transmission cooler line comes in. This is totally unacceptable.

My 2006 durmax diesel 2500 truck has 3 transmission cooler lines that run from the transmission to the radiator. These hoses have aluminum pieces on each end and they leak oil at the joint where the aluminum joins a piece of rubber hose in the centre. They continuously leak transmission oil on the ground at this crimp join. The colder the weather, the worse these hoses leak. There appears to be a significant problem with these as detailed by doing a web search.i pulled in my garage from a trip and a few minutes later my wife saw smoke coming from the garage.i jumped back in and backed it out before it actually caught fire but upon inspection, the leaking transmission fluid from the lines had gotten on the exhaust and started to smoke.this is a serious issue that gm continues to ignore.someone will eventually lose significant life or propertyif this continues.the replacement lines started leaking in a mere couple of weeks.

Anytime a trailer is first attached, the truck will randomly go into reduced power mode while driving. This is very unsafe as the truck can to this at highway speed in traffic. It will do this a few times until the pcm "learns" there is a trailer attached. Gm is aware of the issue and issued service bulletin 06-06-04-042b to address the issue by reprogramming the pcm.because of the safety concerns, this should be addressed as a recall. However,i had to take the truck into the dealer for the update and was expected to pay for them fixing a known software issue. Instead of doing the update at no charge, they managed to damage the pcm while performing the update. The pcm is no longer serviceable and the dealer is wanting to charge me for a replacement even though it was damaged during a called for service bulletin update.the vehicle was not originally equipped with a trailer hitch so the problem didn't arise until the hitch was installed and a trailer was attached.

Transmission just went when driving home from oklahoma city, oklahoma. I had to drive it in first gear all the way home from shawnee, oklahoma to atoka, oklahoma.

Loud squeal noise in the transmission of 2006 chevy silverado when it runs in low gear and when it is in drive and shifts from low to high gear.the truck was taken back to the dealer 2 times and we were told it was a normal noise for the 4l80e transmission.we took it to another gm dealer who said there was a problem.we called gm and they had us take the truck back to the dealer we bought it from.we were told it was a normal noise after the mechanic drove it.when it was used to pull a trailer loaded with hay, the noise was even greater.i am concerned that there will be an accident with this truck.

I had a transmission cooler line to fail and leak badly after 41,000 miles.it was caught in time to prevent transmission failure but how about the next one?it was replaced with a new part at the chevy dealer.

2006 chevy silverado 2500 hd w/allison trans. Transmission leak. Took truck to deal, deal fix 1 out of 3 lines under warranty. 4000 miles after dealer fixed first line, 2 other started leaking, deal would not fix other 2 lines stating truck was no longer under warranty. Gmc should recall the vehicle base on possible fire.

Transmission coolant line leaking.

Leaking transmission cooler lines. Lines consist of a flexible section swaged to section of hard line. There are 3 lines total. All 3 have a history of leakage where the flexible section swages to the hard section. This has been a very common occurrence reported by other owners which can be easily verified through numerous online forums.i.e www.dieselplace.com.

2006 chevy silverado 2500hd has developed a transmission cooler line leak at the metallic coupler.vehicle only has less than 50k miles under light load conditions.never towed anything over 3klbs.i understand this is a very high fail item and even their improved lines are leaking as well.this should be a recall item and replaced at no cost to the customer.

My 2006 durmax diesel 2500 truck has transmission hoses that run from the transmission to the radiator. These hoses have aluminum pieces on each end and they seep oil at the joint where the aluminum joins a piece of rubber hose in the centre. They continuously leak transmission oil on the ground at this crimp join. The colder the weather, the worse these hoses leak. I feel because of the damage this oil causes to our fish stocks and the environment these hoses should be recalled and replaced a chevrolet's expense. To date so far, all attempts i've made to correct this problem, at kelowna chevy or head office have failed. They are now interested. Please give advice.

Starting 4 days after delivery of this new light duty truck with diesel engine and 6 speed heavy duty automatic transmission, the transmission has almost continually malfunctioned, causing what i believe are dangerous conditions putting myself, my passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians at risk.the malfunctions include acting like in neutral when starting from a full stop, causing the engine to rev, and then the transmission suddenly engages causing the vehicle to lurch, similar problems at the transmission searches for higher gears, even at highway speeds; the engagements are so hard i believe i am at risk should this occur on low traction roads, or on curves.most disturbing is that moments after coming to a full stop (foot off accelerator), the transmission suddenly (on no fewer than 10 occasions) sends a surge of power to the drive wheels causing the vehicle to lurch.i am fearful that this malfunction may cause the vehicle to be propelled into a vehicle in front of my, or worse, pinning a pedestrian between this vehicle and a fixed object.also shocking is that upon the vehicle being returned to me for the 3rd time on august 11th, within an 1/8 of a mile form the dealership, as i approached a stop the vehicle wheels suddenly locked up for a moment.i returned to the dealership and the service manager drove the vehicle.he repeatedly duplicated the problem and experimented by shifting into neutral, shockingly, while in neutral, the transmission still seemed to engage the drive wheels as we approached a stop.only 42 days since delivery, and the vehicle has been at the dealer for service for 13 days, and has also continued to malfunction while under my control another 12 days.i believe the dealer, auto manufacturer, and the transmission manufacturer (who is said to be providing direct instruction to the dealer on diagnostics and repair) are placing me and others at serious risk of injury.

The allison automatic transmission cooler lines are leaking. This poses a fire hazard. Gm needs to redesign the hoses that connect the transmission and transmission cooler. Many others are having this same problem and have had the lines replaced multiple times.

I purchased new a 2006 chev. Silverado 2500 tk (6 liter eng.), at 1900 miles the transmission felt like it slipped.immediately after, under light acceleration, you get a high pitched noise coming from the transmission.took vehicle to local dealership and was informed that the problem was in the planetary gears of the transmission and gm informed them that repairs should not be performed.meanwhile i still have the noise and am seriously concerned about the dependability of the vehicle.

My chevrolet 2500 has a function called grade braking to assist the brakes when towing a load down hill. It has quit functioning but the dealers cannot figure out how to troubleshoot the problem. They said since no codes show on the computer i have to wait until i have a trailer behind it and am near a dealer that is near a steep grade to test it. The whole point of the system it to keep the truck from running away on a steep grade. Doesn't sound like the place to test it. There are no steep grades with in 150 miles of me. There should be a simulated test run by their computer.

My 2006 silverauto with the durmax engine and alison transmission.the transmission line have been leaking.i have 60,000 miles on it so the warranty is out.when i took it into the chevrolet dealership where i purchased the vehicle they would not cover the leaks as part of the drive line warranty.when i purchased the lines from the parts department they indicated that they were selling a lot of these hoses due to leaks.if there are this many lines leaking i think chevrolet should replace these faulty lines at there expense.also i know of one other 2007 model that burned out the transmission due to these lines.because the transmission failed chevrolet replaced the transmission and the lines.

2006 chevy silverado hd diesel with allison trans-- transmission cooler lines leaking, dealer said there has been no known problem. I searched online and found hundreds of similar complaints. So i was forced to pay $700 to have the lines replaced, which will probably end up leaking again. This is obviously a defect, as i have 3 other chevy trucks, none of which have ever leaked from the trans lines, and some are over 10yrs old.

Leaking trans lines on 06 chevy allison trans.

The allison automatic transmission cooler lines are leaking. This poses a fire hazard. Gm needs to redesign the hoses that connect the transmission and transmission cooler. Many others are having this same problem and have had the lines replaced multiple times.

My transmission cooler lines were leaking and i'm concerned about it due to the transmission fluid being a combustible material.if this material dripped onto a hot exhaust and ignited while parked in the "attached" garage of our home, it could pose a major safety hazard...not to mention it could do to the neighbors home being relatively close.thank you for your time.

Lower transmission line leaking again shortly after being replaced with a new one. This is happening to very many truck numerous times. 2006 2500 hd duramax /alison.

Transmission lines that run from the transmission cooler next to the radiator continue to leak.the lines seem to leak more in colder climates.i am on my third set in 60 days.transmission fluid was a flammable substance the last i knew.

I have a 2006 3/4 ton pick up with the duramax diesel and alison transmission. In november of 2006 at about 20k miles, a low pressure transmission cooling line (part number 219989580) developed a major leak and required repair. Withinweeks, the replaced line failed and the dealer informed us that many trucks of the same design were failing for the same part. It took weeks to get a replacement part for gm. Feed back from other gm dealers indicated that the problem was widespread. When a replacement part was finally provided, we were informed by gm western region service that a design "fix" had been implemented and that the truck was safe to drive. Three weeks ago, (45,000 miles) my truck started leaking transmission fluid again. An inspection by the dealer revealed that not only the same line was leaking again but that two other lines of the same designwere also leaking. This dealer, e&l motors in kemmerer had already seen more than a dozen trucks in the past few weeks with the same problem and was frustrated because replacement lines from gm would start leaking within days ofinstallation. We were told by the service manager that there was a rumor that gm would be doing a recall on this part. In the mean time, i am not getting any direct information and the corrective action gm is telling it's dealers is to have theowner check the transmission fluid frequently, a special fluid which is not available through anyone except an authorized gm dealer. Recent contacts with other gm dealers have exposed the same problem with "dozens" of trucks in our area which are also waiting for a reliable replacement part.i use this truck for work.during the winter months, my biggest concern is having one of the leaking lines blow leaving me stranded in freezing weather where cell coverage even on the interstate is not always possible.

Transmissions lines are continuing to leak.have been to the dealer twice this year.dealer has replaced cooler lines under warranty.truck only has 32000 miles on it.dealer needs to come up with a permanent fix, or it is going to cost the consumer a lot of money to keep having the transmission lines replaced.

Dt*: the contact stated while the vehicle was parked in the driveway with the gear shift in the park position, and without the keys in the ignition, the vehicle rolled forward and crashed into a parked vehicle.there was no warning prior to the incident and no injuries were sustained.the vehicle sustained minor damage to the front.the police were not contacted.the vehicle was inspected by the dealer who was unable to duplicate the problem.the manufacturer was not notified.

The vehicle makes a high pitch noise while lightly accelerating. It strongly appears to be coming from the transmission. The dealers to date has refused to acknowledge this problem with my vehicle. I have had this complaint since the first week of purchasing the vehicle. I presently have 2200 miles.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 3500.while driving between 55-60 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle vibrated unexpectedly.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the torque caused separation of the central differential.the vehicle was repaired.in addition, the mainframe cracked in half, but was not repaired.the failure was possibly contributed to the weight of the snowplows or diesel.the vin was unknown.the failure and current mileages were unavailable.

I own a 2006 chevrolet pickup truck and found that if you turn the key one clip forward you can pull the shift lever into any gear including neutral without stepping on the brake.i checked around and found that anychevrolet truck, van or pickup all the way back to 2003 will do the same thing. I heard but don't know for sure that a young boy was hurt when he turned the key and pulled the lever down crashing the truck.

This is a 2006 6.6 turbo diesel 2500 hd silverado, the four wheel drive will not engage light keep flashing, service 4 wheel drive is on , this truck only has 19,000 miles on it.

Intermittently the driver's heated seat will come on by itself and each time i try to turn it off it goes back on. The seat gets extremely hot and it is dangerous to drive because i continually am trying to turn it off. Shop is still trying to diagnosis problem.

Driver's electric heater comes by it's self gets real hot/ have to just keep pushing the on and off switch several x then it runs off hit bump and it starts againhad three different people has there back was red from the heat. Had at dealer x2or more and al l the say can't find anything wrong also the easy out on the seat doesn't work when you remove the key the cluster change will change by it self( fuel used/ oil life / fuel econ ect yes even general motors are telling sorry!! but who likes to drive with the heated seat on @ 90 degrees weather.

Driving home from store only to have a vehicle stop short in front of me. Applied brakes and to my surprise the pedal went to the floor. Luckily i had room to maneuver around traffic and avoid an accident. Vehicle was towed to repair shop and i was told left front break line rusted out. I purchased this vehicle new and i can attest that no unusual circumstances occurred to warrant brake line rusting out. Moving forward 16 months i was leaving the house only to have brakes go to the floor. Vehicle towed to chevy dealer. Dealer tells me all brake lines rusted badly (except one previously replaced) and in need of replacement to the tune of $2700.00. Good thing i was not driving or worse yet pulling my 8000 pound camper. Is it going to take some one getting killed before chevy is made to admit they have a serious safety issue with these brake lines.

We were getting ready for a long trip (maryland to florida).we hitched our trailer to our truck and were testing lights, brakes, etc. At the campground before we left.as we tested the brakes at a low speed, we realized the brakes did not work at all.we parked it right there on the road in the campground and called a tow truck to take us to our mechanic's shop.when he looked at it, he found he had to replace all the brake tubing because they were all rusted out.had we been on the road with our trailer, we would have had a crash and could have been killed or severely hurt.

Brake lines have rusted out. Abs warning light came on, then soon after abs service light came on. Had to replace all of the lines and 3 calipers where lines had rusted to the caliper. Vehicle only has 41200 miles on it. Cost me $861 to have them replaced. Service technician said he had never seen lines that were that bad for a vehicle with such low mileage. One of the lines crumbled at the touch when it was removed.

Brake line failure. Rusty brake lines. Leaving fluid on ground almost hitting building.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while shifting into drive, the brakes and the power steering failed without warning. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 89,000.

First time brake line broke at dealers parking lot. Line repairedtwo weeks later while stopping for red light another brake line ruptured month later while attempting to stop for vehicle stopped in front another brake line burst minor collision no damage. Dealer at this time replaced all brake lines in vehicle as i refused to operate the vehicle without every line replaced period.

Engine idler pulley seized causing serpentine belt to break which resulted in loss of power steering and loss of power brakes..2 local gm dealer parts department's stated this is common on the duramax diesel engine.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the brakes failed and the emergency brake had to be used to stop the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic, who advised that the brake lines were rusted. The mechanic replaced one of the fuel lines. The contact did not call the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 120,000.

I was preparing to slow down as i approached my driveway. When i applied my vehicle's brakes, the brake pedal went completely to the floor. My vehicle did not slow down and i had to utilize me emergency brake and also shift into a lower gear in order to slow down. I was unable to slow down enough to safely make a turn and subsequently my vehicle travelled thru a ditch area and came to a stop in my front yard. Completing a check of my vehicle's brake system, i learned that my master cylinder was completely empty. I had my vehicle towed to a local garage where i was told the vehicle's complete braking system lines had rusted away causing all brake fluid loss and needed to be replaced. All brakes lines were replaced from the master cylinder to the abs module and then to each brake system at the wheel. The cost of the work was $598.00. My vehicle is a 2006 model year and is in excellent shape, however i'm very unhappy with the braking fluid lines failing with only 52,500 miles on my vehicle. I don't understand why there has been no safety recall notice on the part of general motors. The local dealership refused to assist me with the matter and at this time i'm completing this complaint. The national highway transportation safety administration needs to take immediate action upon general motors to ensure higher quality of brake lines are installed instead of substandard brake lines. I was lucky that i was not involved in a more serious accident/incident with the brakes failing. I would also like to see general motors reimburse me in full for the cost of the repairs.

I was in fast lane on highway approaching some construction and was cut off by someone who passed me on the right . I stepped hard on my brakes and the pedal went all the way to the floor . . i hit the person in front of me and ruined my front bumper. Upon inspection of my vehicle i noticed brake fluid dripping from frame rail . .i looked and noticed a line ruptured due to rust / rot and all the brake lines where in bad condition . I was able to crutch the truck to a repair shop and the repaired the steel line. Mechanic made me aware of the terrible condition all the steel lines were in ( fuel lines, transmission lines, ect)and that the brake bleeders on front calipers where also rotted beyond saving . . i believe all these lines should have been stainless steel as they are exposed to the elements and i'm lucky to have not totaled the truck , injured someone else and or myself.

While i was driving down the street my brakes when out.i was able to make it to my driveway to discover my brake line rutsted and there was a 1 cm hole in the brake line.

At the worst possible time with icy roads and snow. I was on my driveway trying to get to the top off it when i lost traction. I stopped and applied the brakes. I started to back down the drive when the peddle fell to the floor causing the truck to go violently out of control and crash down over an embankment. There was no warning, just total loss of brakes both front and rear. Mechanic says the lines blew apart from rust.

While stopping for traffic light, brakes were weak and required excessive pressure to activate enough to stop vehicle. Pulled into nearest parking lot and found brake fluid dripping from chassis under driver door area. Called tow truck to take vehicle to dealer. Tried to move vehicle to make it easier for tow truck operator to hook up and pedal went completely to floor with no braking effect. Used parking brake to stop. Dealer said entire brake system needs to be replaced due to corrosion.

Master cylinder reservoir fluid level dropped from full to activation of brake service light.investigation of the cause led to the discovery a leak in the brake line from the anti lock brake actuator to theright front brake caliper.all the brake lines appear to be extensively corroded.

I was driving my truck on 3/30/16 another vehicle pulled out in front of me. I slammed on my brakes to avoid a wreck. At the next red light i noticed my brakes were soft. I pulled over to check my fluid. It was down about an inch. I decided to try to make it home. Then a service brake light came on. I did make it home. I crawled under the truck and brake fluid was from the front to the back of the truck. I noticed two compromised metal brake lines on the driver side frame rail that were rusted through. I touched the lines and they were falling apart and flaking off metal at the touch. I contacted chevrolet and it was towed to the dealer. They quoted me $1,100 to repair the problem. My truck is a 2006 i bought it brand new it has 59,500 miles on it and i paid right at $50,000 for my truck. It is unacceptable for this to happen in less than 10 years of ownership. This is a huge safety issue since chevrolet used inferior and cheap products in their trucks. There should be a recall on this. Someone could have been seriously injured or killed the other day when i was driving. I replaced all of the rotors and brake pads and one caliper not 9 months ago. I never thought that my metal lines were compromised until i had a failure. I have lost alot of faith in gm due to this issue. I am still working with gm and the dealer to get the problem resolved, but it is not looking good. I am wondering how many other vehicles are compromised. I was talking to my uncle the other day and a gentleman overheard my conversation. He told me that he had a 2003 2500 chevrolet the brakes also failed on. He was towing a trailer and toatled his truck. I am completely out of warranty as of next month. Gm says to keep my bill for the replacement of the lines that i may get paid back. I dont think that is likely at all. This should be a recall because safety is compromised.

When coming to a stop a speeds of 10 mph or less, brake pedal goes towards the floor as if the abs is activating, causing loss of braking. It occurs on all types of driving surfaces and in all weather conditions. Problem has gotten worse with time. Dealership says there is no known problem... However the internet says differently! problem occurs almost every time you are making a slow approach to a stop, which is usually when other vehicles or pedestrians are in front of you.

Lost brakes while driving in residential neighborhood due to rusted brake line. Had it towed to my mechanic who did an inspection and said all the brake lines were rusted at the brackets holding the lines. My mechanic is in the process of replacing the brake lines. I talked to several other people with the same year truck and both had also experienced brake line failure from rust. Truck has only 20k miles and has only been in the salt twice as i had an older vehicle i used when it snowed. Gm needs to correct this safety defect.

When normal stopping abs activates and keeps activating until pedal goes to floor and brakes do no function, there are no warning lites and no indication of a problem.i was under the impression that any abs failure would revert system to regular brake system. This is very dangerous.

Driving on highway at 60mph traffic slowed suddenly while pressing down on brakes when to floor i swerved to avoid slowing traffic and ran off shoulder in to grass and small trees to come to a stop had truck towed to my house found line over gas tank split open their was no pedal at all and no warning light for brakes until all the fluid dripped out in to my driveway.

Break lines are completely rusted and i am afraid they will go out without warning.truck only has 67,000 miles on it.

Brakes lines rusty pressed brake pedal brakes failed.

Brake lines failed, causing me to run off the road when trying to avoid hitting a deer.had to replace all the lines due to corrosion on many of them.

Brake pedal went almost to floor. After inspection metal brake line was rusted and has hole in line resulting in loss of fluid.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken for routine maintenance when he was advised that the brake lines were rusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was notified and stated that the failure was a common problem in the particular model however, a recall had not been issued. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 71,000.

Brake lines blew front and rear when a motorcycle in front of me slammed his brakes in an emergency stop. Luckily he was towards the side of the road, i slammed my brakes and my pedal went to the floor, i quickly swerved and downshifted and ebraked and miraculously was able to come to a swerving stop avoiding collision but it could have been much worse if i hadn't been able to react so quickly. My truck is very low mileage and meticulously maintained, i have owned it since 2009. There aren't any other cars out there that would have a brake line failure within 8 years and only 64k miles, i'm very upset over what happened.

As i approached a stop sign, i applied the brakes and the brake pedal went soft and then to the floor. Immediately followed by a brake system warning and a brake light on the instrument panel. I got the vehicle stopped on the side of the road and checked the brake fluid reservoir. It was empty. It had been snowing that day and i noticed a puddle of fluid had formed in the fresh snow under the driver's side of the vehicle, just inboard and aft of the front left wheel. When i crawled underneath and looked i found what appears to be severely rotted brake lines. I have never had a solid brake line fail on me before and was quite shocked at how progressed the corrosion was. I take care of my truck and it gets washed and serviced regularly. With that it gets used as a truck as well. I feel that the corrosion was excessive and perhaps is the result of a material flaw/cheap materials used. I shudder to think what the outcome would have been had i been towing my horse trailer or my camper that day.

The right front brake line on my truck rusted through. I lost braking when loadingmy 10 ft camper in the driveway. I took the truck to dealership and it was found that all the brake lines are rusted and in danger of failure at any time. All of the brake lines on the truck are bare metal and prone to rust. New brake lines are paintedto prevent this from happening. Had to buy complete brake line kit to getright front line for replacement by dealership for $452.85 . They recommend that i replace all of the lines. I called chevrolet customer service, complaint #8-3176545196.i have gotten no cooperation, they have told me there is nothing that they can do. Because of this potentially causing a catastrophicfatal accident due to complete or partial loss of braking power - it gives no warning until failure occurs. I told them they needed to put out an alert to other drivers and they declined stating that they did not have enough complaints. This truck only has 99546 miles on it and in all of my years working with automobiles i have never seen a break line rust through.

Rusted brake lines 1 has ruptured.

I had a brake line brake driving my baby to the doc, towed if to the shop & found out all the brake lines & hardware were rusted beyond repair & everything needed replaced, we found that gm had used bad products on their chevy trucks from 99-07 but only recalled 99-03, apparently there's not enough deaths in model years 04-07 to recall, well if we were going faster it prob wouldn't have ended well for us, the cost of the repairs were around $700.

Brake line failure due to excessive corrosion as the lines lay on the frame. Luckily, the break was at home and i was able to get it into the shop for repair. Less than a month later, another line broke as i was pulling into my drive.

Rear brake line failed due to heavy corrosion causing loss of brake fluid and extremely reduced brake performance.

I was positioning my chevy silverado 2500 year 2006 to hook up my travel trailer rv. As i was backing up to line up the hitch to the rv ball the brake pedal went to the floor and i lost all braking. I had to put the gear shift in park to stop the slight roll. I looked under the truck and there was brake fluid all over my driveway where it had come out of a corroded brake line under the drivers seat. This truck only has 97,797 mile on it.i am very fortunate that the corroded brake line failed before i was able to hook up the rv and start driving, i could have had a serious accident that might have killed someone.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, he depressed the brake pedal but the vehicle did not stop immediately. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection and they stated that the brake lines werecorroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000. The vin was unavailable.

One brake line burst from being rusted out and the remaining 4 front brake lines are in bad shape and need to be replaced.the brake line burst while i was pulling my boat trailer and i narrowly avoided an accident.i was in a residentialarea and was only going about 15mph.and was able to apply the emergency brake to stop the truck.

My wife while driving the above truck stated that the brake peddle "felt funny" and continued to drive it. She stated that she had almost completely lost the ability to stop. When i was able to inspect the truck i found a ruptured brake line that lead to the rear brakes. Also all the brake fluid had leaked out of the ruptured line. I have since have had all the brake lines replaced with stainless steel lines. I am learning that this is an on going issue with this model of truck and my concern should be obvious. My wife could have seriously injured herself or others.

The rear brakes failed with little or no warning. The brakes went from good to mushy without warning light. I added brake fluid to test in drive way. Pumped the brakes and the warning light came on. The rear line failed. I had the truck inspected at a general motors dealer in january of 2018 and also at the end of february. The said my vehicle is maintained in excellent condition. If this could happen to me....all gm vehicles with these brake lines are at risk. I read their was a safety bulletin 13-05-22-001. Today is 4/12/2018...because i tow a boat to florida i had the truck checked 2 times in the last 12 weeks....if the dealers can't detect faulty lines....a recall is needed.

Hole came in break line due to rust. All most ran thru a busy intersection. Also had a break line to rust into on 4/10/15.

Sudden failure of brakes during low speed stop, brake line failed near frame underside in driver seat area. Was able to quickly stop vehicle with emergency brake just short of going into heavy traffic. This truck is meticulously maintained including underside washes, no body rust anywhere and was undercoat protected from new. Shocked a level of rust on what are apparently high carbon steel lines, these should be stainless steel.

I was leaving the downtown area of cleveland, ohio, and i was in the lane to get onto 77 south. The light turned green, the 4-5 vehicles in front of me started going through the intersection, the first accelerated into the adjacent lane to reveal construction cones in our lane. The remaining vehicles in front of me slammed on their brakes and i slammed on mine. At that instant, my brake pedal sunk to the floor. I reacted quickly (thank god) and swerved left to avoid the collision. My truck came to rest about 10 feet past the small sedan in front of me. I would have wrecked the back of that car and caused a chain reaction in front and back of me had i not been able to react as quickly as i had. The replacement of all the brake lines (the one leaking is as corroded as the others) plus front brake work is going to cost me around $3800. Not something i was expecting from a 6 year old truck, nor anything i can afford right now. It is my work truck, i don't have a choice, and it's more of a repair than i feel comfortable tackling on my own. Chevy needs to step up and shoulder some responsibility. I have had two other trucks in this climate and never saw the lines corrode like this.

We had just gotten to the bottom of a hill when we applied the brakes the pedal felt normal then instantly it went to the floor. We attempted to pump the brakes but the pedal was completely to the floor. When we finally were able to stop we jumped out and saw brake fluid puddle on the ground and all underneath the cab of the truck. After the fluid was gone there was absolutely no brakes to even panic stop. There is also extensive rust under the truck even though undercoating was applied in the factory.

During a normal stop at a light, just as the vehicle was getting close to a complete stop there was a noticeable bump felt in the brake pedal and release of brake application on its own while still pushing on the brake pedal. This occurred as vehicle was slowing, just before a complete stop was achieved . After researching the problem which seems to be well known in automotive forums and by gm. I removed the front wheel speed sensors, cleaned the corrosion from the mounting pads and reassembled. Before cleaning the sensor mounting the problem would occur 80-90% of the time brakes were applied. After cleaning it has not happened again. There is a recall on this very issue on earlier year models, clearly this needs to be expanded to more model years. If someone had been in front of me when this occurred there is a very good possibility i would have hit the back of their vehicle.

Towing trailer, while parking trailer, brake pedal got spongy, then went to floor, total brake loss. Rusted brake line ruptured under drivers seat by abs module, all brake lines will need replacement.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. While pulling into the driveway at approximately 7 mph, the brake pedal was depressed to the floor but the vehicle did not stop. The vehicle crashed into the contact's porch. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries reported. The contact observed brake fluid under the front of the vehicle and the brake lines were completely rusted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Ma 09/03/15updated 11/03/2017

The abs on my 2006 silverado activates on low speed stops on dry pavement causing the brakes to release. It is not the typical abs action that most people are familiar with, where the brakes release and apply - it is the brakes releasing and not reapplying under pressure, while foot is on brake. I have gone through an intersection while towing a horse trailer and had many near-miss incidents coming into toll booths, stop signs and red lights. Have almost rear-ended vehicles because of this. This needs to be a recall item. It is dangerous, very expensive to fix and prone to happen again once fixed.

I have an 06 chevy silverado 2500hd extra cab, i live in ct. I recently started experiencing a problem with the vehicle when slowing to a stop, the abs kicks on, whether driving on wet or dry roads. I had aa warranty which was 3 year , 36,000 miles which the 3 years expired last october and the vehicle recently turned 37,000 miles.i have found many similar complaints online and the local dealer seems to know nothing of any problem and of course wants me to bring the truck in for a diagnosis. The problem happens randomly, and it definitely increases my stopping distance. I have considered removing the fuse for the abs system but feel i may need the abs in some future circumstance. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

Drove 40 miles from work to home on nov.25th and parked in my driveway. No issues. On saturday, nov.28th, attempting to leave driveway, had loss of steering and braking (no power assist) and rolled into street. Vehicle towed to local dealer. Cause was ruptured nitrogen cannister at hydroboost assembly with loss of power assist and contamination of fluids. Fortunately, i was in my driveway on not on the 40 mile trip to or from work on interstate highway.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact was driving approximately 5 mph and as the brakes were appplied, the abs activated abnormally. The vehicle continued to accelerate and after applying the brakes numerous times, the vehicle eventually slowed down. The failure only recurred when driving 10 mph or less. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they advised that there was not a recall pertaining to the brakes. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500.the contact filed a complaint two years ago regarding the abs locking up in rainy conditions.all four of his tires locked when the brake pedal was depressed.the contact drove through two bushes and struck a large traffic light pole.the vehicle sustained $7,000 worth of damages.a police report was filed.the contact has been in and out of the hospital since the crash.the manufacturer recalled the vehicles in the north of the united states, but not the south.the contact has a lawyer and spoke with the chevrolet manufacturer regarding the brake failure.he no longer drives the vehicle in the rain.the failure mileage was 16,000.

On october the 22nd. 2009 the rear brakes started to make a loud noise. Upon checking the rear brakes i found the rotors had started to come apart. I have replaced the brake pads and rotors at this time.however the pads that i removed from my 2006 chevy 2500 hd truck still had material left on them.there was no metal to metal contact between the pads and the rotors.

The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that as he decelerated from 5 mph, the brake pedal felt spongy and was depressed into the floorboard.the vehicle was towed to a mechanic shop who inspected the brakes and discovered that all of the brake lines and calipers were rusted and corroded. The contact repaired the brake lines and calipers at a cost of $739. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Rear brake rotors severely rusted / corroded. Rear disc calipers frozen in place (only contacting rotor on outboard side) inboard side of both rear brake rotors missing "chunks" of metal due to severe corrosion.

I have a 2006 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd four wheel drive that is not stopping properly at low speeds.the abs system is letting go at slow speeds causing the brakes to let go. This could be a very serious situation at a crosswalk with children. I reported the problem at the local dealer and they said it was a common occurrence due to rust affecting the abs brake sensors. The cost of the sensors was 135.00 each plus about three hours labor total close to $600.00.i think this should be a recall issue as it is not caused by wear. *ln

Defective metal in the brake rotors of a 2006 chevy 1500 hd caused rapid wear through of brake pads and a loss of braking capability (all four rotors).no other rust on the vehicle.no heavy towing and very limited exposure to salt.the metal is substandard and rusts from the inside out.it reached a point that a rough braking surface caused "sanding" of the pads so that the time between warning of brakes pads needing replacing from the "chirp" sensor and failure was < 1 day.failure greatly reduced braking and was a major safety hazzard.took rotors defective rotors to dealer who denied the issue.vehicle has 36k and is 4 years old.my mechanic tells me this issue is common.i am a mechanical engineer with a back ground in metals and can verify the porous nature of the metal and pitting corrosion.this problem will eventually kill someone.

Front brake lines rusted badly on frame rail on two chevys we own.

When coming to a stop, at speeds of less than 5mph, the brake pedal goes to the floor as if the abs is activating. This happens on smooth dry pavement. Taken to several mechanics and dealers and everyone says everything is working the way it should. I've heard of other owners of this make/model experiencing the same problems.whenever i let someone else drive my truck, i make sure i stress that it will not stop when it should, so far no wrecks.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Power steering fails and since the power steering pump controls the hydoboost it affects the power brakes of the vehicle. When the power steering pump fails you loose power brakes and the vehicle moves forward at a brisk pace until you forcefully put both feet on the brake pedal and push down with all the power you can to stop the truck. Since this has happened 4 times i realize immediatly what the probelem was and applied all the pedal power i could to stop the truck. This can be an intermittent problem and since the dealer cannot duplicate the issue, they will not replace the power steering pump until it fails completely, which mine finally did. 6 months later the replacement pump is doing the same intermittent failure and the dealer will not replace it until it completely fails again.

Abs activation at slow speeds preventing stopping of vehicle. Dealer and gm refused to participate in repair, stated the sensors were contaminated from rust and therefore not defective, the problem is environmental and we cannot assist you with the repair.. There is no abs warning light coming on and this is identical to the problem found on earlier models 1999-2002 which were recalled. I was told i need to replace the front wheel speed sensors @ a cost of 460.00 dollars to correct the problem. This happens almost every time the vehicle comes to a stop causing it to surge forward, it will cause a collision..

When backing on a cold morning i last power assisted brakes and steering.there was a small losss of power steering fluid.

Vehicle had not been driven for approx. 72 hours. Lost power assisted brakes and power assisted steering on two occasions on same day while backing after starting.removed power steering/power brake cap on reservoir with engine not running after the second occasion.fluid blew out of reservoir (approximately 2-3 ounces). Did not drive vehicle at that time. Next time started approx8 hours later, no further problem. Dealer could not replicate problem the next day.

Vehicle sat at the airport for 72hrs. When i left the airport, the brakes felt spongy, but were able to stop the vehicle. On the freeway as i was braking, the brakes began to feel more spongy, requiring increased stopping distance. When i arrived at my residence approximately 45 miles from the airport, i tried to turn into my driveway, only to find i had lost all power steering assist and braking assist. I was able to finally turn in, but had to use my emergency brake to come to a full stop. Once, stopped, i found i could not turn the steering wheel and there were no brakes. I opened the power steering reservoir cap, which immediately spewed a few ounces of p/s fluid over the engine compartment, fortunately not on the hot exhaust. Dealer had the vehicle towed 2 miles to their dealership where they claimed they could not duplicate the problem. However, they did keep it over night and decide to change a p/s pressure relief valve even though they could not duplicate anything. I filed a complaint to gm without anyone taking this serious safety issue as a real problem. This safety issued must be addressed and the root cause must be found before serious injury/death occurs due to this problem.

Engine idler pulley seized causing serpentine belt to break which resulted in loss of power steering and loss of power brakes..2 local gm dealer parts department's stated this is common on the duramax diesel engine.

Bolt that holds the tie rods together for steering fell off.

Steering column knock in my chevrolet 2500 hd silverado.problem occurred sometime around 38k miles.was told by dealer it was a broken steering arm.now at 65k miles and having the same knocking sound in the steering column.

I purchased this vehicle from a dealer with a one year certified used warranty at 49k miles. Within a month of purchase i noticed an excessive amount of free-play in the steering and noticed a loose pitman arm when rotating the steering wheel and observing this part. I took the vehicle to two different dealers in the indianapolis area. After their inspection and consulting gm concerning this issue, i was told free-play was normal or within parameters.one year later and 69k miles, i take the vehicle in for service (oil & filter changes etc) and to have them please look at the brakes as i could feel a vibration. The vehicle is now out of warranty... They tell me now that these parts (pitman arm / steering box) will need to be replaced along with both front wheel bearings to the tune of just under $2,000.i have done my own research and have found many complaints in regards to steering assembly / parts on these trucks. Nothing i have found says that this much free-play is "normal" in regards to this vehicle and in fact, some front wheel axles and wheel assemblies have actually separated from the vehicle. My wheels or bearings (i saw for myself when it was on the lift and i have the old parts) had a dangerous amount of wobble in them, with the right wheel having in excess of 1" of tilt or looseness.this in my opinion does not constitute "normal" play and i question gm's honesty concerning this issue... Why is this acceptable when under warranty but needs expensive repair when its on my dime? i believe gm is aware of the problem but is pushing the cost off to their customers.

I have a 2006 chevrolet silverado that has presented a problem in the steering assembly of the vehicle. I noticed a moaning noise that was present while turning to the right. I brought this up to the dealer in my area and they informed me that my problem was my steering box was leaking and needed replacement. I went ahead with the suggested repair. This however did not fix my problem. I brought the truck back, they examined it and told me to replace the power steering pump as it was leaking and that should take care of it. I did as suggested but still not fixed. Mind you this was at 50,000 miles. I brought the truck back, examined it again, and this time was told that i needed to replace both tie rod ends and the idler arm to correct the problem. So i did as suggested. Still not fixed. I took it back again, they examined it, and by this time the problem is getting worse, louder noise etc. They said, well the power steering control valve needed replacement, i agreed, they said this would do it. The dealer fixed half of it. Now i have a high pitched noise under the hood and the remedy for that is to replace the steering box that i replaced 30,000 miles prior. I needed to hand over more money and in two and a half years i go through two steering boxes, so i called chevy and asked them if maybe they would help with the bill, they agreed to pay a portion, but that's not really good enough in my book. If they cant stand behind a steering box for 30,000 miles what's next. The dealer has also informed me that this does effect my braking as well as the truck idling irregularly. I am very dissatisfied with chevrolet and gm. When i wanted to take this to the next step with the company, they told me i should not spoil a good deal that they are offering, and if i do take it higher i was advised they might not be so kind to me. What a deal!!

Little or no power steering at idle engine speed. Extremely difficult to steer in cold weather. All power steering parts including pump, gearbox, pressure valve etc. Have been replaced by dealer. Manufacturer has a recall on this vehicle for this problem but no correction with the problem has occurred. Very dangerous condition in tight parking situations etc.

1. While parking in tight spaces or maneuvering at slow speeds and having to use the brakes as well as trying to steer, the truck loses power steering and you have to use both arms to steer the vehicle.2. Failure of this steering could quite easily cause an accident due to being unable to steer the vehicle to avoid an accident, one action is to stop but to get out of another vehicles path would not be possible.3. So far the dealership has checked for leaks, topped up power steering fluid. Checked front end alignment specs. Front z height was out of gm specs, so adjusted back into specs. I was then told to drive and monitor.

General motors pickup hood mounted latch fatigue.i have noticed complete separation and severe wear in the welded engine compartment hood latch that could result in the hood coming up at high speed and either blinding the driver or the hood separating from the vehicle upon failure of the hood latch.

Dt*: the contact stated that the vehicle consistently has problems with a vibration throughout the whole vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who could not find the cause for the vibration and therefore could not service the vehicle.

The left rear shock absorber mount tore completely through and separated from the main axle housing.because the hydraulic brake line was mounted to the shock mount, when the mount failed, the shock absorber extended fully and ruptured the brake line to the left rear wheel.this resulted in a total loss of brakes while attempting to exit interstate highway 40 at 65 mph.at no time did the driver information center on the dash indicate a problem with the brakes.after using electric trailer brakes to slow and stop the vehicle combination, the vehicle was able to be moved to a parking area.upon shutting off the ignition, a notice came on the driver information center stating, "service brakes soon".upon examination, the master brake reservoir was down to approximately 50%.the left rear shock absorber, the brake line and the shock mounting bracket were all hanging approximately 4" above the pavement.the trailer being hauled was less than 1/2 of the rated tow weight and the vehicle had been operated on the interstate highway system for almost 5 weeks with no offroad or heavy hauling.when temporary repairs were made at a wingfoot truck center, the mechanic who welded the shockmount back to the axle housing indicated that he had seen two failures at the same point in the past 6 months.he thought that one was a 2007 gmc 2500 hd and my 2500 hd chevrolet diesel.according to the service manager at lenlyall chevrolet in aurora, co there was no failure of the braking system proportioning valve because none was present in the hydro brake system installed on the vehicle.all other shock mounts were examined and found to be ok..at this time gm is refusing to take any further action due to the fact that repairs were already temporarily made.

*ln

Wiring to the blower motor is getting to hot and has melted the plug connector. Blower will work off and on. Seen this complaint in many forums. Something needs to be done to correct this problem before it results in a fire.

Interior heat & a/c blower motor fan suddenly turned on full without warning.could not turn off.would not stop even with key removed from ignition.

Ac blower wiring harness under glovebox overheating and smelt like electrical fire, as i checked wiring noticed that wires were red hot and smoldering.

Blower fan speed quits, wiring is melted apart from too much amperage. This is going to cause fires if it has not already done so. Our company has 8 of these trucks and all of them are doing this. Chevy 1500's and 2500 trucks.
