Driver side air bag did not activate upon a front end crashthat totaled out the vehicle.

Check engine light came on and "low engine power" flashed where the odometer is. This caused the rpm's not to go over 2800. Code reader claims o2 sensors or throttle control module or catalytic convertor issues. We discovered it was none of the above. To fix problem change 3 relays located under hood in fuse box. Relay #8864. Then clear codes, should fix issue unless code persists. Relays will cause a fire if not changed out asap.

I have a 2004 chevrolet 2500 crewcab pickup. Some where between 80,000 and 90,000 the speedometer began giving false readings. Sometimes it appears to work correctly, sometimes not at all and yet other times it is clearly giving an incorrect reading.

2004 chevy silverado instrument cluster sticks and reads a constant 120+ mph.started to stick at around 75 mph for a month. Now is stuck on 120+ mph and will not move even when truck is restarted or flashing computer.

May 2016 installed 5 years warranty battery. Battery dead every three month. Charged battery. Installed new battery last week. Battery dead today. Had alternator tested. (fine) notice dashboard light where read milage looked like this after truck off #######. Only green light will not turn off

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact was driving 60 mph when the speedometer failed and indicated that he was traveling 90-100 mph. The dealer was contacted but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but would not provide any assistance. The failure mileage was 120,000.

Many of the vehicles in this family suffer from random electrical shorts and or poor electrical grounding relating to the drive by wire throttle actuator. The result is that the vehicle will go into 'reduced engine power' mode randomly. In this mode the vehicle will idle but not accelerate or drive. This issue is well documented on message boards with no consistent fix. This condition exposes an extreme hazard as the vehicle can loose power at any time. This is a serious safety issue that should be investigated. I have had my vehicle loose power on the interstate and on high speed 2 lane roads with no shoulder and heavy traffic on 4 occasions. Numerous attempts to repair the issue have been unsuccessful.

I bought a 2004 chevy silverado from medved and i feel it has a problem and gm says it's working as designed.my problem is the message module led's are so dim they can't be read in the daylight and the instrument cluster has been replaced 3 times by medved to try and fix the problem. The p n r d d3 d2 led"s are just fine.they told me to take it to another dealership to see if they can fix it. I took it to [xxx] and a 18 year service tech said it doesn't get any better and gm should have sent out a recall but didn't.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).this could be a safety issue if you can't read the warnings and other messages that appear on the module while driving.

The speedometer in my 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500 has begun intermittently showing speeds that vary widely and do not indicate actual road speed.the speedometer fails to return to zero at rest and has shown speeds more than 40 mph in excess of estimated actual speed. This seems to be a common complaint, although i have not yet contacted a dealer or gm.i believe there are two components to this problem: 1) i cannot rely on the speedometer reading; 2) this could affect the miles shown on the odometer or at least cast doubt on their veracity.the truck presently has just under 42,00 miles on it and has been relatively free of major defects other than recall items.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500.while driving65 mph he placed the cigarette lighter in the ash-tray. Next, smoke was expelled from thecigarette lighter housing. Hepulled over to the side of the road to inspect the vehicle. Upon inspection, he saw flames underneath of the hood near the fuse box. The fire department extinguished the flames. A police report was filed.the vehicle was towed to a collision center.the cause of failure has not been determined.the failure and current mileages were unknown.the vin was unavailable.

Speedometer working erratically. Stays on zero, or reads lower than correct speed.it started working sporadically about 2 months ago, sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. Current mileage 38290.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact was driving at 45 mph when he noticed that the dashboard gauges were fluctuating back and forth. The speedometer was stuck at 110 mph. The dealer advised there was not a recall for the failure and any repairs would be at the contact's expense. The manufacturer was not contacted. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileages were 100,000.

My 2004 chevy 2500 instrument cluster has issues. On 12-24-07 on a family christmas trip my speedometer stopped working. I received a letter from chevrolet explaining that they would cover this issue for 7 years or 70,000 miles. It seems to me if they know this is an issue why there is no recall for this. After many days of calls to chevrolet customer service they tell me that this is not a safety concern and that there would be no recall issued. Now i ask how can this not be a safety concern not knowing the speed you are going? the next issue i have that i also feel is a safety concern is the intermediate steering link. This again has slack and rattles. Once again chevrolet states this is not a safety concern but how can you say that a part of the steering assy. Is not considered a safety item?

My speedometer is intermittently functioning.gm says that i have too many miles on my vehicle to pay for the repairs.this is a 2004 chevrolet silverado and gm has already extended the warranty on this item for 7 years or 70,000 miles.this is an electronics problem and mileage should not be a factor on it.the mileage has no bearing the electronic functionality of this device.it should be time and time only that dictates the life of this component.

I have a 2004 silverado 2500hd(c/k) with 51,000+ miles. This problem has been occurring for several weeks and just started as i was driving the vehicle on the highway.the speedometer operates erratically by showing various speeds such as 80 mph while i am driving 25 mph or shown 120 mph while i am stopped.at time it might work properly but then jump to 60 mph while i am driving 20 or while i am sitting still.my dealer is well aware of this problem and will repair it for $580.00i continue to drive using the tachometer to gauge my speeds and speed controls to maintain speeds while in mountainous or hilly terrain.

- the contact ownsa 2004 c2500 chevrolet pickup.the contact stated that the speedometer hadn't been working for at least six months.the speedometer was stuck at 25 mph, even though the odometer was registering the mileage correctly.the problem originated in the instrument cluster. The vehicle was part of a construction company's fleet which included chevrolet pick-up trucks from 2003 - 2005.seven out of the 40 trucks have hadproblems with the speedometer failing.the contact stated that weather was not a factor in the failure.the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 85,118.consumer states a 20% failure rate on speedometer sticking. Update *4/23/07 tr

2004 silverado truck speedometer malfunctioned.

The speedometer in my 2004 silverado has started to malfunction.it does not show the speed of the truck on any consistent basis.it will start out at 30 mph and increase correctly then reset it self 60 mph andthe lowest point.it is dangerous.i researched several online discussion boards and there are many complaints out there.my dealership wants $600 dollars to replace the instrument cluster and the truck will not be drivable for at least a week while a new cluster is programmed with my mileage at the factory.this lends itself to many people not wanting to get the cluster fixed and leading to safety issues.

Electrical malfunction/instrument panel.

Speedometer starting acting up by over registering my speed and now reads 120+mph no matter what my speed.it falls back to 50mph when i turn off the ignition.

Digital instrument panel failure ( speedometer, fuel gauge, rpm gauge & oil pressure gaugeall malfunction at 50,000, now at 81,900 miles.we received a recall letter a bit late.the recall was up to 70,000 or 7 years. Called gm when recall letter was received dec.17, 2007.told us it was too late to fix because of our mileage.if only we would have received the letter way earlier.now gm can not fix the problem for us, unless we pay out of our own pocket! and they knew that the problem existed!

The speedometer works intermittently and i found myself going faster than the speedometer registered. Going around a turn i was forced into the other lane of traffic do to the excessive speed.

Intermittent and erroneous operation of the speedometer in my 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500 diesel truck. The speedometer frequently indicates the wrong speeds, at time over +100mph. At other times, indicates speeds less than actual or freezes altogether. Gm refuses to acknowledge issue or offer to repair. This is a serious safety issue and can result in driving at speeds above or below posted limits.

The speedometer of my 04 chevy truck is not functioning correctly.it stays on 0, goes up way over the speed i am traveling and then sticks at various speeds.i have seen at least 100+ complaints on various google sites. Most noticeably this one. Http://www.topix.net/forum/autos/chevrolet-avalanche/tji11lgm9554merna/p3#lastpost.

2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. Consumer states problems with replacement alternator *tgwthe vehicle caught on fire which may have been due to a manufacturing defect with a replacement alternator that was recalled.

In wyoming, traveling i90 to hyw16mountain pass...7 per cent grade....after two miles engine overheated and had to pull over to let engine cool down...had to take another route to bypass mountain.googled duramax overheating and found this was a very common problem on the 2004 duramax diesel..design problem prevented adequate air from entering engine...should have been a recall or at least gm should have offered a solution...

Exhaust manifold bolts broke on both sides of engine, 6.0 liter engine, resulting in extreme noise, poor gas mileage, service engine light blinking and smell of exhaust entering cab.why isn't this a recall item since so many people are having the same problem with chevy and gm trucks and suv's?the cost of repair by a garage is astronomical and it's impossible to do it ourselves.the truck now has roughly 112,000 miles since we have to use it at times.

The bolts are braking off the exhaust manfoldsand the manifolds are leakingand the computer is making the truck go into reduced power.

Engine runs rough at idle.ck engine light on.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. While the vehicle was stationary smoke appeared from the engine it was diagnosed that the fuel injector needed to be replaced on the driver's side the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 157,000. Updated 02/24/17*lj updated 7/11/18

Passenger side exhaust manifold bolts rust and break off on all gm full size trucks. I have 2004 silverado 2500 hd with 61k miles, problem started at 56k miles as a mild tick that went away when engine warmed up and progressed to constant leak when engine was under load , two rear exhaust manifold bolts broke off causing exhaust leak. Seems all truck engines have this problemfrom 1999 -2007. This sounds like a manufacturing defect that should be addressed by gm .

This happened in the year 2008. Everything was fine but when i woke up the following day, the speedometer was pointing at 120mph. In other words, it was a direct reflection from its initial point, which was when it was pointing at or below 0mph.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact states he was driving at about 55mph on the highway when he noticed there was smoke coming from under the hood and threw the heater vents into his vehicle. The contact states he pulled his vehicle over into a parking lot and by the time he stepped out of his vehicle there was flames coming from under the hood. The contact also states the hood would not open. Thefire department was contacted and when they arrived there it took them a hour to put the fire out. The fire report is available.the contact states he was not injured. The vehicle was destroyed.the failure mileage was 43,000. Ar

The air conditioner blows hot air out of the passenger side vents when the air conditioner is on.this just started.my brother has a vehicle identical to mine, same yr and everything, and it is doing the same thing.the drivers side blows cold air and the passenger side feels like the heater is on, with both controls on cold.

Light bulb sockets allow slip-in type bulbs to slip out . Gm has not recalled these sockets, however they have improved the current design so as to hold the bulbs more securely. The turn signals, stop lights and tail lights ,as well as the headlights are affected by this deficiency.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated after the engine started it stalled within 10 seconds. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who confirmed the injectors needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 81,000 and the current mileage was 127,000.

Vehicle has been diagnosed with bad fuel injectors. Symptoms include excessive smoke and smog test failure. Manufacturer has a 7 year/200,000 mile warranty on injectors. My vehicle has 121,000 miles but was placed in service 12/2003. Massively common problem on all duramax diesels. Manufacturer only warranties the repaired vehicles for 12 months or 12,000 miles.

My fathers trucks brake lines failed and we had no brakes, had to veer off the road to avoid an accident. These lines should be better then this. My older 1993 chevy silverado never had a brake line problem. There should be a mandatory recall put on these lines for all the trucks. Gm will not put one on till someone gets killed.

Brake pedal went to the floor trying to avoid hitting another car traveling at 60 mph on the interstate , steel brake line under drivers door rusted and broke .

My wife had just left our house and as she went to stop at a stop sign the brake pedal went to the floor and she had to use the emergency brake to stop. The brake lines had rusted and blew a hole in the lines.

Coming out of my driveway, which is approximately 1200 feet long, i hit the brake pedal which went straight to the floor, without even slowing the truck from 15 mph (it is very slightly downhill near the very end). I crossed the road and was hit by an oncoming vehicle approaching my driveway. Fortunately, the vehicle was a friend slowing to enter my driveway and the collision was minor. Destroyed my rear bumper and damaged the left rear quarter panel. Had the oncoming vehicle been traveling at a normal rate of speed for this road, it would have been much worse. Likely with injuries. It is a rural road with a 35 mph speed limit and people generally drive it at 40-45 mph.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while hauling a trailer at 30 mph, the brakes failed as they were depressed.the stopping distance increased and the contact was able to coast to a stop before all of the brake fluid spilled out.the contact did not take the vehicle to the dealer for inspection or repair. The vin was unknown. The failure and the current mileages were 120,000.

I was driving at normal speed and was traveling down a back road with a car dolly on back when i came up over the hill there were cars stopped and the other lane was coming towards traffic i tried at the top of a very steep hill to apply my brakes and they failed causing me to hit 6 cars and one motorcycle and lucky no one got killed so now i have a damaged truck because of engineers poor design.

I was towing my rv. When i hit the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor. Scared the blank out of me since i had my wife and two kids with me. The brake line for the rear brakes blew due to corrosion. The only thing that saved us was the trailer brakes or we would have had a serious accident. Gm is so cheap they build their brake system with lines that easily corrode in stead of stainless. There should be a recall. The internet is littered with this issue. There should be a regulation forcing manufacters to use corrosion proof brake lines. Ridiculous!!!

Backing out of the driveway, foot went to the floor. Was able to stop vehicle before impacting traffic. On inspection, large puddle of brake fluid on driveway under driver's door area and all brake lines running to rear of vehicle are significantly corroded and wet from leak above where lines head toward master cylinder. Chevy dealer has no recall or investigation information. Chevy national service line was no help. Would not provide regional service manager contact information.

I was traveling home from dropping my dog off at his groomer. I went to brake coming to an intersection to prepare for a change in the light when the brake pedal went straight down to the floor with no warning light in the gauges or information system until after the incident happened. I had very little braking at all and was able to get the truck to my resident without incident. I had the truck towed to a mechanic who informed me the brake line had rusted completely through. I have read many complaints being filed by other chevy silverado owners. When is gm going to be held responsible for failing parts on all of their vehicles? i was a lucky individual that it was early morning and very lite traffic on the road i was traveling.

Pulling my boat on secondary road toward highway, pushed brakes to stop for stop sign, brake pedal went to the floor with no warning or trouble light.had enough braking force to stop after rolling approx 100 ft.cautiously drove to gas station/parked vehicle and called a wrecker to take truck 65 miles to my home.on inspection i discovered corroded brake line(steel) had ruptured along routing to back brake.lots of corrosion visible on multiple steel lines.i was incredibly lucky to not be traveling faster and in an emergency braking situation.

On 4/28/2016 traveling to work following a tractor trailer in a 55 mph zone, the tractor trailer abruptly merged into the right turn lane after a curve without a signal leaving two stopped cars in my travel lane making a left turn. I applied hard pressure to my brakes and the pedal went to the floor. I impacted an avalanche that was pushed into a small compact car causing substantial damage to my vehicle and the avalanche. The driver of the avalanche was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. While at the accident scene i noticed fluid leaking under my truck just behind the left rear tire. The truck was towed from the scene to a body shop where they discovered 2 ruptured brake lines in between the master cylinder and proportioning valve. Attached pictures show severally rusted brake lines with no other rust or corrosion on parts in the surrounding area. Initial estimate for repairs on my truck were $6,371 before tear down.

Driving to work pushed on the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. Inspected to find a rusted brake line broken just under the drivers side front door. Also the brake lines have major rust at rear wheel. All of the lines are rusting and need replaced.

As i was backing up the truck to hook up our horse trailer i experience a sudden loss of hydraulic pressure in the braking system and the break pedal went to the floor. I was able to stop the truck before it hit the trailer or my daughter who was directing me. I noticed a puddle of fluid on the ground under the truck just below the driver seat and traced it to a crack in a corroded brake line. We were very lucky that the failure occurred when it did. Had the brake failure happened 10 minutes later, we would have been traveling on i95 in very crowded conditions with a horse in tow. There had been no indication that the brake system was at risk of failure. We had used the truck the previous weekend to trailer our horse to a show and the brakes worked fine.

Puddle of brake fluid on driveway. Brake line just above gas tank from junction block to rear axle rusted out at clip attachment point with frame. Truck was always garage kept and when washed at automaticcar wash most times with a under body rinse.

Brake lines all rusted out and fuel lines 21,300 miles on it are there any recalls out yet or coming out very soon.

To:[xxx], acting director of the national highway and traffic safety administrationplease open the link- http://www.wxyz.com/money/auto-news/rusty-brake-lines-cause-concern-for-gmc-chevy-truck-driversi am writing this email because after the experience i had driving my 2004 chevrolet 2500 silverado 4wd truck to work without brakes due to the fact that general motors installed defective brake lines in their gmc and chevy trucks. (open and read the link above) the last timei had driven my 2004 chevrolet 2500 silverado 4wd truck, my wife and i had just return from a hagerstown, md campground towing our 5th wheel rv trailer, i disconnected the rv from the truck and parked 10 feet in front of the rv. Thank god, that the brake failure did not happen while we were driving the 2004 chevrolet 2500 silverado 4wd truck while towing the 5th wheel rv trailer, it may have a caused a very serious accident, and possible serious injury or death. I wonder how many american families suffered with the stress, injuries, or even death due to the indifference from general motors and the national highway and traffic safety administration?information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Engine runs rough at idle.ck engine light on.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet k2500 (n/a) extended cab. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph and applying the brakes, the brakes became spongy and abnormally traveled to the floorboard. The vehicle was driven to a local mechanic, who advised the contact that the brake line was corroded and caused brake fluid to leak. The mechanic repaired the brake tubing from the master cylinder to the abs controller and also, the tubing for the two front wheels. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 66,520.

I was backing my boat into to boat ramp to go fishing and when i pushed the brake to stop the pedal went straight to the floor with no warning what so ever. I had to hit the emergency brake pedal to get stopped. Upon looking under the truck to search for a problem i found that the brake line by the drivers door had ruptured causing a major brake failure.had i been on the road when this happened there is no doubt that there would have been an accident .

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado k2500 hd. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the contact attempted to decelerate but the brakes failed to respond. The contact had to apply the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was found that the front brake lines had corroded and caused the brake fluid to leak. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The approximate failure and current mileage was 97,000.

Brake lines rusted through leaking all brake fluid while traveling 65+ on the new jersey turnpike. I am making this report to confirm brake problems on 2004 suburbans as was recently reported in the new york times. Cost to repair was in excess of $1000.general motors should seriously consider a recall and possibly consider usually stainless steel tubing for the brake lines!

Total brake failure when attempting to slow/stop vehicle to make a turn. Drove into parking lot to get off of roadway, hit sign, tree, parked vehicle before vehicle finally stopped.

Everything appeared normal when i was driving to the bank. As i was slowing to make the turn into the bank the brakes felt a little spongy. As i pulled up to the atm brakes continue to be spongy.finished at bank and cautiously started driving home. Firststop light, i had to gear down to slow to allow me to stop as the brake hit the floor.pumping helped me stop in time to not hit the car in front of me.i should have probably called for a tow at that point, but only had back roads left to get home.drove very slow (less than 5mph) by time home had no brakes left.going slow enough to hit curb opposite of my driveway to stop and then backed into uphill driveway so gravity stopped me to put in park.btw - no emergency brake to help, that is not working. Got out and a steady stream of brake fluid was coming out from under the drive side door.looked under vehicle and saw fluid leaking from corroded (rusted) brake line between master cylinder & abs box. Took a look at all the other line and surprised to see how corroded all of the brake lines are.i was also kind of surprised to see how horrible the entire underside, including frame, have rusted for a 10 year old truck.definitely very upset the brake lines are that corroded and will all need to be replaced to provide confidence another one is not going to burst. I'm just very happy i didn't get in an accident and i sure hope it doesn't take someone dying for gm to issue a recall.given the size of these vehicles and the shear damage they could do to property or human life should be a concern to gm. I'm a huge fan of gm/chevy trucks, but pending what happens may dictate my next truck. My truck has been sitting as i have not had time to try to repair myself or money available to be able to take the chance at how much a shop is going to charge.

While applying moderate brake pressure in heavy morning traffic on clean dry pavement, the brake pedal collapsed to the floor, followed by rear brake lock-up.i swerved to avoid a collision.i was forced to use the parking brake to move to safety.inspection revealed a metal brake line failure.in fact, all brake lines were severely rusted. I thought this was highly unusual. However one work colleague and one neighborimmediately revealed that they had suffered the same failure on other gm trucks of that age.my mechanic reported doing several dozen brake line replacements on gm trucks in the 2000 to 2006 era.surely this is a major class safety problem.

Brake line blew and brakes went to the floor.

Abs system activates on left front at slow roll. Normal slow stop not safe in traffic. Now happens all the time.i am an automotive tech. Gm would sell it separately, but they want you to spend $300 for a hub assembly (that you don't need)to get the sensor.

2004 chevrolet 2500 crew cab truck brake lines completely rusted out.noticed problems with brakes not wearing evenly and eventual loss of braking.took truck to original dealer for servicing to find out the brake lines were completely rusted and fluid leaking from the rusted areas.was informed by the dealer that it was not cost effective to replace all the brake lines because they would have to be custom fit.we also have a 2000 chevrolet 1500 extended cab that has double the mileage of the 2004 and is still working perfectly, no rusted lines.

My brake lines rusted out completely on my 2004 chevrolet silverado, instantly disabling the brake system. It happened in my driveway. This vehicle had only 38,000 mile on it.

Purchased the vehicle, 2 months later a noise emanated from the engine compartment. I found the power steering pump to be void of fluid. I added the proper fluid. Immediately a leak occurred from the brake hydraulic boost. I researched your data and your information indicated that a safety recall exists for the brake boost (#04v043000 and #04v045000). The dealer refuses to fix this issue unless i pay the $1000.00 to fix it. They say that no recall exists for my vehicle. What is correct? in addition, your data also shows the 2 other safety recalls for my vehicle which they agreed that did apply and are complied with. Who/what is right?

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while reversing from a driveway, the brakes were applied and the pedal depressed to the floor. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who stated that the brake lines were corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileages were approximately 39,000.

While testing the brakes and lights on a 7,000 lb gvw trailer the brake pedal went to the floor.investigation showed brake fluid from behind the drivers seat and above the gas tank.the brake line over the gas tank rusted through and burst.another 5 minutes i would have been traveling on mountain roads with no brakes and pulling a trailer.vehicle was towed and repaired at my expense.also a days work was lost because i was not able to travel 130 miles home for my companion to work the next day.

Corroding brake lines on a 2004 chevrolet 2500 silverado pickup truck causing critical failure and substantial loss of hydraulic braking power.

Bought the truck in october of 2009, took to dealershipon 12/17/2009 with complaintsmileage of 96,764 of low engine power, hard to start truck,,,,glow plugs were bad corroded park neutral switch, corrosion on brake lines..paid $ 3,600 in repairs thenaroundlate september 9-28-2010truck died afourway intersection...was almost hit by a car...towed to nearest service fleet source...found out injectors were bad...work was started for repairs...then i found out theglow plugs...which i paid for already...and the injectors were service bulletins...called fleet told them to stop repairs...called the dealership...that had the truck in december...ask why they charged me for the glow plugs and why the did not fix the injectors...when it was in there.....dealership hung up on me...called 1-800-790-5700..spoke with gm told them about my chevy problems...they claim that my injectors would not be covered...as it was not adealership....funny thing is that fleet source is a certified rebuilder for bosch, and satadyne by the manufacture for these parts that are used in all gm vehicles....so if you take your truck to a dealer...they get their parts from these people.....gm has a history of putting on bulletins for items...and claiming when you bring in your truck that the part does not meet the perimeter for replacement....i about another $ 3,200.00 that makes about $ 5,0000.00 dollars of items that people have complained out...had recalls..service bulletins....never will by anything that gm make again.

The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. While driving 20 mph and attempting to engage the brakes, the brakes became inoperable and all of the brake fluid leaked. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the brake lines needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

I am experiencingthe steering clunk that is associated with chevrolet's trucks. Upon turning it in in for service i was told that it would cost $280 to fix it. I only drive my truck approx 6k miles per year under very light duty. It is unacceptable for a heavy duty vehicle that wears out from very little light use to be sold like this. The truck has 27,700 miles now and started having the problem at approx 18k miles. I can only assume that this means i willhave to pay about $300 every 18k miles to fix a defective, poorly engineered product. Is this part going to fail at some point and cause a loss of steering control?

The steering column in my 2004 chevy silverado makes clunking sounds and causes vibrations that alter the steering. I took it to gm while it was under warranty they said they repaired the problem, but about 20miles later it started again, have just delt with it since but seems to be getting worst. I bought another 2004 silverado it too does this clunking and vibrating, evidently this is a very common problem, along with the speedometer not working on both my trucks.

I see you have recallonwheel hub assemblies for 2004 chevy silveradoi just replace both sideson my truck.the truck was boughtbrand new it is 4 years old it only got60,000 miles on iti need to know if my truck was under your recall .

On january 2, 2008 while driving our 2004 chevy silverado 2500 4x4 on a paved city street the two front tie rods snapped in half( driverside 1st, passenger isde 2nd) causing the truck to go out of control and skidding approximately 70 feet finally being stopped by a concrete curve. Gm has refused to take any responsibility in the failure of their factory equipment. We purchaced the truck from our neighbor with a" fab tech" 6 in. Lift kit. The fab tech company also refuses to take any responsibility stated that they have seen many tie rod failures with the tie rods on gm trucks for several years and that that they have designed larger diameter tie rods that are sold as upgraded equipment with their lift kits.my case # with gm is 71-591086295. The contact owns a 2004 chevrolet silverado 2500. While attempting to reverse the vehicle, it independently accelerated and crashed into another vehicle parked in the contact's garage. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 95,000.

This happened in the year 2008. Everything was fine but when i woke up the following day, the speedometer was pointing at 120mph. In other words, it was a direct reflection from its initial point, which was when it was pointing at or below 0mph.

Driving south on interstate 15 in #1 lane south of cedar city, utah.the truck suddenly shook violently and within seconds there was a loud explosion with debris fly a head of me.i fought to control my vehicle and was able to slow down to pull off on the shoulder of the road with hitting any one.the tire that exploded was on left front.the entire tread came off of the tire and tire separated where the tire was seamed together during manufacture.there was extensive damage to the vehicle bent front bumper, tore the wheel well liner, dented the front door in several places and dented rocker panel under the front door.the tire was a bf goodrich all terrain t/a ko, lt285r70/17 load range e.the tire had a 50,000 mile warranty but had just a little 20,000 miles with 10/32 tread on all tires which means there was 60% tread life left in the tires.when i was almost home, i notice a type of vibration like a tire was unbalance or out of round.i check the other three tires and discovered the right rear tire had large bulge across the tread which indicates that another tire was failing.took the tires to the dealer and told me that me these failures were do to a manufacturer/workmanship defect.michelin which makes the bf goodrich tires wants me to pay for a new set of tires and damage to my truck and verbally they tell me they may reimburse me but will not put that in writing.i do not trust them and will never buy bf goodrich or michelin tires again. Michelin has a recall on this line of tires in various sizes but not in my size.do not understand why my size was not recalled because all sizes in the all terrain line are made with the same materials and manufacturing process the same for all sizes.the only difference is the size of the tire.
