The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle idled roughly, causing the engine to stall. The failure occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was informed that the vin was not included under nhtsa campaign number 07v521000 (engine and engine cooling). The failure mileage was 114,000.
First incident:vehicle driven 100 miles and then shut off for about 6 hours.started right up and moved about 100 yards and shut off for about 30 minutes.tried to start it and wouldn't start.after about 15 minutes, it started and vehicle driven home without further problem.second incident, vehicle stall while moving in city traffic (about 35 mph).came to a stop at the bottom of a busy underpass near a major intersection.i called 911 and asked that a wrecker be dispatched.as 911 waiting for a response from the wrecker company (two to three minutes), the vehicle started and i returned to my residence.scan with obd device indicated crankshaft position sensor failure.internet research of the problem confirms.your investigation ea06-016and subsequent nhtsa campaign number 07v521000 crankshaft position sensor indicates a safety recall.for some reason, gm (denny menholt chevrolet) as well as your website, indicates no recalls on this vehicle.i have an appointment at the above dealership on 10/22 to have the cps replaced.why isn't my vehicle part of the recall?the stall while moving at 35 mph was dangerous and the repair is expensive! thank you.i look forward to hearing from you.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated the vehicle stalled without warning while driving 60 mph. The vehicle returned to normal function after being restarted and was taken to a mechanic for diagnostic testing. The failure and current mileage was 110,000.
Exhaust manifold leak bolts have rusted and broke off.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle would intermittently stall while parked or while driving at various speeds. The vehicle would continue as normal once restarted. The vehicle was not taken to have the failure diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 07v521000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 20,000 and the current mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500.while driving 60 mph, the vehicle intermittently stalls.the stalling rarely occurs at lower speeds.the dealer could not duplicate the failure, which occurred every four or five days.the contact was informed that his vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 01v258000 (engine and engine cooling).the current mileage was 135,000 and failure mileage was 110,000.

The contact owns 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500.the contact was driving approximately 40 mph on normal road conditions.the engine stalled without warning.the vehicle restarted and resumed normal operation.the failure occurred intermittent.the vehicle is in the process of being taken to an authorized dealer for diagnostic testing.the failure mileage was 60,000.
I have a 2001 chevrolet 2500 series truck with an 8.1 liter engine. I have experienced several engine stalls while driving. After a few minutes the engine would restart. Since the vehicle is off warranty and i do not have a local chevrolet dealer i had an independent auto repair shop attempt to diagnose the problem. The computer was not producing codes and diagnosis was not possible.after several attempts over a few weeks a code was finally picked up indicating a "crankshaft position sensor failure" which is occurring intermittently.i then discovered that gm had recalled many vehicles due to this problem and replaced the sensor as recently as last year.i contacted gm only to find that even though the symptoms of my vehicle are identical to those recalled, my vin # is a few out of the recall sequence but gm may consider replacing my sensor if i get a diagnosis at a gm dealership.herein lies my problem. Due to the intermittent nature of the failure, diagnosis is difficult. It it does not occur while at the dealership i must drive it until another time. I live 35 miles from the dealership and travel even further from there often.when the engine stalls i lose steering and brakes. I am reluctant to continue driving back and forth to the dealership hoping it does not stall in traffic as it has in the past but stalls at a point that produces a code for the dealership.i have a code diagnosis from an independent shop and i just want this safety issue resolved just like gm did with thousands of other 2001 chevrolet 2500 trucks under recall #06083.

Vehicle stopped running while driving, almost involved in accident since i was going downhill. Vehicle would not restart. Restarted two hours later after tow to garage. Dealer inspected and found faulty crank sensor code. Dealer found nhtsa recall # 07v521000 was just issued, however my serial # was not recalled. I believe all 2001 models with this power train should be recalled to repair this defective part.
Crankshaft sensor defective. 2001 chevrolet 2500hd silverado 8.1l vin gvehicle has had a on and off problem with running rough, erratic shifting, service engine soon light on or intermittent. Took to the dealer bought from, never able to find anything wrong. Said it might be crank sensor, but if its running o.k. Don't worry about it. This problem started in approx feb, 2004 and was last at the dealers spring 2007. 3 days it was there and they still could not even say if there was a problem. Engine light still on. Problem with the erratic shifting, rough running , engine light on continued untilsept.2008 when the problem became very serious. Vehicle began to stall or simply just quit running all together. You would be driving at highway speeds or just local driving and the vehicle would simply shut down, leaving you with no brakes or steering. It could not be restarted until you stopped, let it sit for a sometimes up to 10 mins. Vehicle would do this 2-3 times a day, or weeks before doing it again.in july 2009 the problem became serious, where the vehicle would just shut of while just sitting at red lights or stop signs.my mechanic did a scan and dtc's for crank sensor and several others came up. It was thought that everything from broken wires to modules had to be checked. I subscribed to a online vehicle repair info site and immediately found a product safety recall #06083 12/11/2007 for vehicles with an 8.1l v-8 engine. The vin numbers on my vehicle were higher than those in the recall, but the description of the problem fit exactly.my mechanic was showed the info and could not find anything on his service sight. It was decided to change the crank sensor. The vehicles performance increased 100% and the problem seems to be resolved. The old crank sensor was saved. Apparently g.m. Has many more vehicles out there with bad crank sensors than they acknowledge.

Engine has a loud knocking noise since day one. Reported problem to chevrolet dealership and was told that the pistons are "slapping" inside the cylinder walls and that this was a known problem from chevrolet. New pistons will not be available until december 2001. Changed oil and found metal fragments in the oil that were stuck to the magnetic oil bolt. Noise problem is getting louder each week. Dealer rep called and explained the problem to me directly.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500.while driving 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly shut off.the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drive 3-4 miles before it shut off again. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the camshaft position sensor needed to be replaced.the contact did not notice any differences beforehand.the current and failure mileages were 60,000.
Upon startingvehicle there is a loud noise coming from engine.consumer feels there isa problem withenginepistons. Please provide any furtherinformation.
Reported a loud knocking noise when you crank up the engine since i first bought truck. Reported problem to dealer and was told the pistons are "slapping" inside the cylinder walls due to a known problem that chevrolet already knows about it and replacement pistons would be available by december. Engine is getting louder by the day and found broken metal fragments when oil was changed . Waiting on dealer to respond to this issue and requesting engine be replacement now.

Carbon buildup. The truck has been in the shop 3 times for what the dealer says is carbon buildup. It happens about every 2500 miles. The last time in the dealer said chevy knew it had a problem with the design of the pistons. The new pistons would be out in late 2001 or early 2002 and to keep driving it for now. I did not pay $ 35,000.00 to hear a engine knock. Thanks for your help in this matter.
Noise and exhaust leak.exhaust manifold nuts broke on 2001 chevy 6 liter.engine only has 90,000 miles.repair cost over $1,000 to fix both sides.
The low beam sylvania headlight bulb in my 2001 chevrolet 2500 hd pickup truck went bad and started my under hood area of my truck on fire. Much of the underhood equipment was damaged before i could put it out. Sylvania takes no responsibility for their product and refuses to cover damages even after receiving the defective bulb and many pictures of the damage.
Dt*: the contact stated the fuel leaked.the leaking was coming from fuel rail pressure sensor.the dealer fixed the issue.08/01/06updated.

Truck sputters on cold starts, for first 10 minutes of use, even after a large warm up period.
Accelerator sticks, gas sending unit goes haywire (goes from full to empty, low fuel light coming on.
Extreme rust, tailgate cables broke in use, had to replace. Tailgate still won't latch properly, dropping open while driving/hauling fairly often; brake line rusted out, replaced before had accident;whole frame rusted - under carriage//tire wells/drive shaft/around reece hitch so i worry about pulling trailer/hailing. Horn has rusted off. Only 77,000 miles as i do not drive it daily, just to work around my place or pickup/haul/trailer something. Gm needs recall to address this rust issue because it is a major safety issue.
My truck was parked outside my house and this drunk driver hit my truck in the middle of the night.and mest up all of one side of the truck including my engine, baby seats and tires and windows.
Our 2001 chevy k2500 hd was parked, w/park brake on, at the top of a mnt. Plateau when it rolled off the top w/a 5 yr old boy in the bed of the truck, going 500 yds before coming to a stop.the truck had been sitting for approximately 10 min. At an idle before it began to move.no previous problems with the park brake failing ever occurred prior to this.our truck was totaled due to damage sustained in the accident.the 5 yr old boy remained in the bed of the truck during the runaway.he broke his jaw in three places and fractured his right arm in two places.he spent 5 days at primary children's hospital in slc, ut.
Parking brake failure on the 2001 chevrolet pickup, they all have the same brake system from 1999 and up to the last year or so. The emergency /parking brake will not hold and if it does work it is a one time use only due to poor design.the brake is a single piece that has a very small amount of brake shoe on it and when applied it simply bends the shoe out to make contact and then it can not come back in so the brake stays partly on until it burns up leaving the pickup with no parking/emergency brake . I have had mine replaced several times and i have learned to never set it unless it is a emergency unless i wish to spend 100 replacing the shoe. This i feel is a real safety problem that chevrolet needs to recall and fix.

I had just replaced the hub and bearing housing on the right front axle on my four wheel drive 2001 chevrolet hd2500 silverado pickup and was in the process of refilling and bleeding the air from the brake lines.during this process it appeared as if it was requiring more fluid than i had removed it was then that inoticed brake fluid dripping from the left front wheel well.to my surprise after removing the plastic wheel well cover i couldn't believe my eyes at what i saw, there were the brake lines either rusted away or delaminated.i have never experienced anything like this in over fifty years of repairing my own vehicles, i can only be thankful that i wasn't on the road towing my fifth wheel trailer when the brake lines failed in such a catastrophic manner.since this happened late in october of 2013 i have yet to replace the brake lines, if you need pictures of the problem i can provide them to you.

The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contactstated that while driving approximately 45 mph uphill, thetransmission independently shifted down. The vehicle would not accelerate and then stalled. The contact parked the vehicle and proceeded to a auto parts store where he purchased circlip and installed it in the vehicle. He was then able to get the vehicle to shift into first and second gear. The dealer was notified and they stated he would need to replace the transmission or have it rebuilt at his expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not driven since the incident. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Allison transmission front seal pops out fluid pours out onto exhaust pipes heavy smoke fluid covers under side of vehicle
Vehicle is 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500 hd with 6.6l duramax diesel and allison automatic transmission. At approximately 88,000 miles / approx 2500 hours, the transfer case hydraulic pump wore through the rear half of the transfer case, resulting in large amount of transmission fluid being released on the underside of the vehicle.since the oil is flammable and it gets sprayed all over the bottom of the vehicle (including the exhaust system) it probably presents a fire hazard.it is at the very least a known defect, as minimal research online (see http://www.dieselplace.com/ and search in the drivetrain thread for "pump rub") will show dozens, if not hundreds of owners of this vehicle type that are having to fix this problem.

This is the 5th time my brakes are hanging up and over heating the wheel. Smoking severly. Had problem with abs. System so i unplugged sensors from front wheels. And on the 1st the right passenger side did it again. Doesn't matter if on state hwy or city streets. Always starts when moving. A wobble in steering wheel. Then pulling right or left depending on which wheel is locking.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500. While driving at any speed, the brake lines often fractured. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the brakes need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired twice, but the failure recurred many times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.updated 09/20/16*lj

I was driving on us 41 when the light started to changed i applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor, the rear brake line burst, this first occurrence was in sept 2012, then this november the same thing occurred accept the front brake line burst. Both times i had the chevrolet dealer perform the repairs. The second repair ,i was informed by the service tech that this occurs with trucks that are in the northern states quite often and is due to corrosion that attacks the carbon steel brake lines. I was very lucky in both brake failures that nobody was in front of me, otherwise there would have been possible injuries..
Brake pedal went to floor after launching my boat.found that a brake line had ruptured.glad it didn't happen while i was on the road with the boat in tow.all brakes lines were rusted and i had them replaced following week. Very expensive repair. Found out this is common on these vehicles.gm really needs to fix this issue.
Driving to work when i use my brakes they felt soft the next time i used them the peddle went to the floor. After stopping my truck i see a rusty brake line under my truck had a hole in it and fluid was pouring out.
Brakes completely failed.
On the way to pick up some items from a relative that lived 42 miles, approximately 32 miles into the trip it was noticed that the brakes were getting progressively worse, within 4 miles of our destination, the brakes were almost non-existent. Fortunately, we made it, however as soon as we parked and turned the engine off, we heard a pop and liquid began spraying from the right side of the front grill near the headlight. A very large amount of liquid then began pouring out of the right side by the bumper as well. Originally we believed it to be coolant as it had a green tint to it, however this didn't explain the poor brake response. We thought perhaps the brake fluid was low, and checked the reservoir. The reservoir had some still, but showed low. We added some, but it poured out almost as fast as it went in. Upon further investigation we found the leak not to be coolant, but the actual brake lines had blown out due to rust, and what sprayed out was brake fluid mixed with rust. Had this happened 20 minutes later, after we would have loaded a large amount of bricks in the bed, and we had to stop suddenly, this could have been disastrous and even deadly. We learned about this site by looking online and seeing the tens of thousands of complaints of the same thing - chevrolet saving a few dollars and using steel for brake lines instead of stainless steel - a cost of less than $40 per vehicle (we priced replacements and the steel was $195, while stainless steel was $233), and no warning to consumers given even after they acknowledged publicly and the nhtsa investigated, but did nothing...so much for protecting the public. In addition, we had to have the vehicle towed back to our home. Hopefully, no one has to die before they're forced to inform all current owners to check their brake lines because they chose to use steel in an area of the country known for steel rusting!
Brake lines rusted out and allowed brake fluid to leak out when i applied the brakes. Had vehicle towed to curry auto in bloomington, in for replacement of rusted brake lines. This happened a second time about two months later when another original set of brake lines under the bed of the truck rusted through and caused brake failure. Both times i was driving in hilly country and was fortunate not to crash into something.dealer said that this is a common problem with silverado trucks of brake lines rusting out. I have a 1996 buick roadmaster that has rusted out quarter panels and the brake lines are original.this truck is rust free except for the brake lines. Gm should pay for the replacement of the brake lines on these trucks.
Brake line corrosion caused total brake system failure.fortunately, no one was injured or killed.
Rusted brake lines x-2 ,brakes failed and pedal went to the floor, stopped in time no wreck, had to splice line withcouplings.
While backing up the truck to hook up to a trailer, i pressed the brake pedal and it went to the floor.the brakes failed.i pressed the pedal a few more times and heard brake fluid leaking from outside the cab somewhere, somewhere under the driver seat.after looking around the master cylinder and firewall i traced the lines along the frame and found that all four lines along the frame rail were severely rusted/corroded.at least one line had rusted through and was leaking fluid.the brake system lost pressure and the truck can only be slowed by using the parking brake.
Total brake failure while attempting to stop due to rusted brake line. Brake lines leading to rear brakes and left front rusted through and bled out. I was travelling 55mph.
Subject: complaint: (abs product failure -- anti-locked brake system) on 2001 chevy suburban - purchased on may, 2003, [xxx] e-mailed to: [email protected] my husband and i purchased a 2001 chevy suburban from smith chevroletabout eight months (may 22, 2003). I am also aware that the brake booster were worked before we purchased this car.my husband and i were involved in a car accident on december 14, 2003.he was making a left turn on a two-turning lane, when abruptly the person on the second turning decided that she was going to crossed onto our turning lane abruptly.my husband acted fast and made a quick brake stopbut his anti-lock brakes wheels locked.the car would not stop but was heading towards the direction of a concrete columnunderneath the bridge located at starlight terrace.hetried to turn the wheels to the opposite direction, but it wouldn't turn because the anti-lock brake system locked on his car.there was one long stretchof skit marks on the street right-of-way. The police officer wanted to know what lane we were turning from when i told him that you could tell justby looking at the skit mark on the street.i was told that there should have not been any skit marks on the street especially when one has anti-lock brake system. While coming to a stop at 6 mph or less, abs activated for no reason. No abs light on dash, no skidding, 66% loss of brake pedal stroke. This occured frequently, about 80% of the time. Many close calls while stopping in traffic.
Brakes failed and cost repairs of $2,000.00. Failure by excessive rust. I purchased my 2001 chevrolet 2500hd 3/4 ton silverado new 9/2001 from quilgy's chevrolet in bally, pa.it has been garaged everyday and has only 2,700 miles.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500 truck. The contact was driving 25 mph when he attempted to apply the brakes at a traffic light, the brakes failed, causing a crash. The air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a body shop. The mechanicinspected the vehicle and confirmed that the brake lines had ruptured. The vin was unavailable when the complaint was filed. The current and failure mileages were approximately 150,000.
Complete failure of braking system. As i was leaving a parking lot (at about 5 mph) the brake pedal went to the floor as i applied the service brakes.there was no braking control.i was able to bring the vehicle to a stop as it rolled across the street by shifting the transmission into reverse and bumping it against the curb. There was no vehicle damage or occupant injury. No brake warning light showed either before the event or after the vehicle was stopped and i reapplied the brakes.the vehicle is currently in the repair shop and we are waiting to get the parts to repair.there is a pool of brake fluid located under the driver's door which is where the brake line has corroded and failed.i will need to replace all the brake lines as they are also corroded, as well as all the brake rotors and pads because of corrosion.i will retain the corroded parts for future inspection.
I noticed my brakes starting to feel soft after a panic stop and a leak under my truck.the leak was traced to the brake lines under the truck cab leading to the antilock brake valve.root cause of failure was extensive corrosion to the brake lines. All brake lines will have to be replaced. I am the original owner of this truck.
Rusted brake lines.
Sudden brake failure on 2001 chevy 2500 pickup truck with 70k miles - had dealer replace rusted lines over fuel tank two months ago, checked all brake systems and did not find any problems. Have driven vehicle about 250 miles since repaired. Today the brake pedal went all the way to the floor when stopping at a 4-way stop downtown. Almost collided with another vehicle but was able to avoid the vehicle and pedestrians on side walk. Checked brake fluid level and it is normal level. Will have vehicle towed back to dealer for repairs. No obvious leaks or damage to brake systems.
This vehicle has abs activating between 3mph and 10mph when applying the brakes. There is no condition warranting the need for abs (e.g. Wet or icy roads) when this happens. There is no codes or dashboard lights for this issue. This issues does increase the stopping distance of the vehicle, especially on dirt roads, or when hauling heavy loads. Gm is aware of this issue and it is caused by rust around the abs sensors. There is a recall (nhtsa campaign number: 05v379000) for vehicles with this issue, but despite matching the make, model, year, geographical location and the very specific symptoms, this vehicle is not included in the recall for some reason. Gm has told me to pay for the repairs and hope that maybe someday the recall will be updated to include my vehicle.
Rusted brakelines have rendered my truck useless until repairs can be afforded because i sure cant get to the abs to unscrew the back brake line !beside the fact that one would think a 9 year old truck's brake line would be the last thing to worry about, the rocker panels that will cost 5-6 thousand to fix according to maco have also failed and have rusted away to near nothing. So for the second time in my life, i am left with a beautiful truck i have to crush. Perhaps if i could afford to be the original owner for once, this sort of thing wouldn't happen to me. Good looking truck, awesome engine design, lousy metal and hard to service major components.i paid $2500 to rebuild the transmission for this truck only to have my 2001 2500 silverado killed by a brakeline. I suppose i should have to buy a new truck every 5 years to avoid this sort of nonsense.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving at low speeds on low, flat surfaces, the abs would activate independently. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him that the abs sensor had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was also contacted and they advised him that there were no recalls for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000. Updated 06/16/11 the consumer stated a recall was issued for abs activation at low speeds for his make and model. However, the consumers vehicle was not included.the hub assembly, abs, sensor, brake pads and rotors were replaced. Updated 09/16/11
Dt*: the contact expressed concern that the vehicle had a problem with the wheel speed sensor and the vehicle was not included in the nhtsa recall #05v379000 regarding service brakes, hydraulic:antilock due to the vin.the vehicle was not taken to a service dealer to verify the problem with the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500.while driving at an unknown speed and attempting to stop the vehicle, the abs activated without warning.the vehicle had not been taken to a dealer.the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage was 82,000 and failure mileage was 79,000.
2000 chevrolet silverado c2500hd recall. Unwanted anti-lock brake system (abs) activation. Campaign number: 05v379000. My 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500hd has the same problem and should be recalled for the same problem.
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500.the contact stated that the interlock braking system failed in her vehicle.the mechanic stated that the wheel interlock system was dirty and triggered the sensor.when she pulled into her driveway, the system failed and caused the contact to crash into the garage.there were no injuries.the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock).the contact would be responsible for the repair costs.the failure mileage was 80,000.
While attempting to stop on wet blacktop, the prodigy failed to apply adequate power to the electric trailer brakes causing a serious reduction in overall braking. When the anti-skid system activated the prodigy failed to sense enough deceleration to function adequately.this truck has a prodigy electronic brake controller.
Dt*:the contact stated at speeds below 10 mph, the abs activated and the brake pedal went to the floor.there is a nhtsa recall, # 05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes.the vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however, it is not included in the recall due to the vin.
When applying brakes brake pedal goes to the floor at any speed. Consumer has to pump on the brake to slow vehicle down to a stop.please provide any further information.
2001 gmc truck brake failure/ bad calipers and rotors low mileage truck.
Dt*:the contact stated all four brake rotors pitted due to rust build up.while approaching a stop sign at 45mph, the vehicle lost use of the rear brakes.however, no incidents occurred.the vehicle was taken to the local dealership for inspection.the dealer inspected the rotors and determined the rotors were normal, no repairs were made.
For the past four years i have had daily problems with my brake system. Yesterday it finally cost me $900 to replace all of my brakes. The pads still had about half life, but the rotors were completely shot and rusted. There is no way that the brakes should have been rusted that much. The mechanic where i took the vehicle even said that he was surprised that i made it this long.he expressed that he has seen the trucks come in with as little as 20,000 miles due to the fact that the rotors had rusted totally. It is obvious there is a problem with the rotors that come factory installed with all silverado trucks. Also i have contacted gm about the abs problem that i am still having and have had for the past four years. Right when the truck is about to stop, the anti-lock brakes kick in and the truck veers off to the right.when i talked to gm they said that even though my truck was manufactured in 2001 and has the same brake system as the regular silverado, since it is the hd model, it is not covered under the recall. I did have a case number with them and all they said is that i should have it fixed before i had an accident. They admitted that they knew of the problem, but would not fix it under the recall.now, $900 later, i have a brand new set of brakes, but the truck still does not want to stop once it gets under 10 mph. It makes no sense to me why they will not stand behind their product.i am sure i am not the only one who has sent something in about the 2500 hd model, so i hope that something can now be done.i am even willing to let one of your technicians come out and test drive my vehicle personally to show that it is doing the same thing as the recall for the regular 1500 models.the only way i have found to stop the brake failure is to pull the fuse for the whole abs system, but then you have to stare at the red light on the dash cluster all the time, plus you do not have abs if you need it. Please get them to include the 2500 hd's in the recall.
Breaking questionable at times. Brake rotors rust flake where pads contact rotor, 55,000 miles on truck with second set of rotors same problem with first set. Loud brake noise at slow speed forward or reverse.
2001 gmc truck brake failure/ bad calipers and rotors low mileage truck.
The consumer indicsated that the rotors were rusting on the inside. When the brakes were applied they didnt sto the vehicle.the manufacturer was contacted who stated there was nothing they would do since the vehicle was past 16,000 miles.please provide any additional information.
Poor breaking. Premature deteriorating of brake rotors (40,000 miles.) the surface of the rotors where the pads make contact appeared to flake away, leaving a smaller contact with the pads. Have pictures of rotors and the rotors for inspection.
2001 chevrolet silverado 2500brake lines had rotted. Consumer states that the brake lines had to be replaced along with other parts.*nj
The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado 2500. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph the brake lines became fractured. The contact mentioned that after inspecting the vehicle he noticed that all of the brakes lines were corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 86,000.updated 11/28/12*ljthe consumer stated a vehicle stopped suddenly in front of him. When he applied the brake, the pedal went to the floor and it took a very long time to stop. The consumer stated he replaced all of the brake lines. Updated 11/29/12
While driving at highway speed powersteering and the power brakes failed, resulting in loss of steering and brakes at one time. Contacted dealer, informed consumer this was a common problem.

2001 chevrolet silverado has had a history of problems. *mr the fuel pump was replaced and was diagnosed by k-s fuel injection as being the cause of the engine lights and low power, the was a fuel leak in which the rear housing was cracked and leaking oil, the transfer case and the driveshafts were removed, the front wheel bearing was noisy and was replaced, the upper ball joint was bad, and a faulty "nsdu" switch was replaced. *sc
Tire blewout within seconds and entire tread separated, leading to the tire's total disintegration.
There were two tires that failed.the first firestone tire was a replacement.it was installed at 3000 miles.da432t v611 b1c 2800.the second tire that failed was a firestone tire r4, lt245/75r16 e, dot da432tvn11b1cc07l3200.the problem was discovered prior to full failure.it appeared to be a broken belt or partial tread separation.*jg
A steel belt broke or shifted within the tire.no blowout, or loss of air pressure.noise from tire & poor handling in turns was noticed.this is a gm oem part.2/3 of the tread was worn off at time of replacement. (tiresize: 24575r16e)
Throtle sticks and must be stomped to dis-engage.often this results in being thrown foward.the dealer says he has fixed several like this on the 6.0 liter engine.very dangerous!!!
Accelerator sticks, gas sending unit goes haywire (goes from full to empty, low fuel light coming on.
While drivingat any speed vehicle shut off. Vehicle would idle, and there was no acceleration when stepping on the gas pedal. Vehicle had been to the dealership 26 times.however, the problem recurred.
