I have found cracks in the dash directly connected to the support braces for the passenger side air bag, in case of deployment the shards of broken plastic can impale into an individual causing injury or death
Dash cracked across top of instrument cluster and above the airbag. Took truck in for airbag recall. Went to pick up truck from recall and found a big hole about 3 inches in the top of my dash beside the passenger air bag. I was not warned by service desk of possible damage form air bag replacement nor was i informed by service desk when the damage was done. Nothing was said when i picked up my truck. I complained about the damage a was told it was due to uv rays. Truck has 60,000 miles and has been kept in garage. They did not even clean up the dash when they were done. I can;t drive the truck with family members in it because i feel it is unsafe. Will probably have to put in a new dash just to be able to trade it off.it is just not right. Another issue was with the engine and was turned into the dealership when it has 36,000 miles. The engine has a miss when in park or setting at a light. The rpm drops 150- 200 rpms continuously. After they had the truck for 3 daysi was told it was normal. It was the computer adjusting for emissions. Maybe but why did they give me a gm store voucher for 500 dollars? to buy me off, shut me up.who knows. It just ain't right.

Dash and airbag support system cracked in multiple areas. Posing a safety risk
Received a recall notice of march 2021, even though part failure presents a serious physical threat to vehicle occupants, manufacturer fails to provide replacement airbag in a timely manner.
The dash area around the passenger airbag cover is cracked and would be a flying debris hazard in an accident, especially if the airbag were to deploy. In addition cracks exist directly in front of the steering column that, when the sun hits it, creates a glare that affects visibility. Both of these are safety concerns and gm said that its normal. How is anything that can become flying shrapnel or blinding the driver not a concern or normal. This needs to be resolved before someone gets seriously hurt. These cracks appeared over a year ago but they've now gotten worse and the glare has become more of an issue.

This is a well documented defect affecting multiple models and years that share the same dashboard design. The manufacturer is aware of the issue and refuses to voluntarily address the problem.
Got in my truck one morning and noticed two large cracks in my dashboard. Vehicle had been stationary and in the garage the night prior. One right above the instrument cluster on the driver side, running all the way to the windshield. The other is adjacent to the passenger airbag. I'm afraid that if the airbag deploys it could send plastic shards flying, which could potentially cause serious injury.
Dash cracked from corner of passenger air bag to corner of defrost vent. Concerned if air bag deploys dash fragments may cause bodily harm. Not sure if cracked formed during motion or sitting stationary.

While vehicle was in motion we heard a popping noise from front of cabin . Then saw two cracks in the dash. One at the passenger air bag and the other on driver side at the instrument cluster.
The dash cracked around airbag, could cause puncture to bag when deployed, causing harm. Vehicle was in motion. Mileage on vehicle is only 36,000 miles.
Two cracks appeared on dashboard near air bag.
The dash has cracked where the passenger air bag cover. It appears that if the air bag were to deploy the dash could fracture further and cause bodily harm.
Rolled truck, only airbag that went off was passenger door.

The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.
"takata recall"the dash is cracked on the windshield side around the air bag and may cause the air bag to deploy. Also has two cracks on both side of the instrumentpanel on the drivers side wiitch leaving it more reason to deploy.
Dash board started cracking around front passenger airbag. 26,400 miles purchased august 2013
I was driving & heard a very loud noise but didn't know what it was till iwas cleaning/vacuuming my vehicle the next day. I was cleaning the vehicle & the dashboard was very dirty so i was lightly cleaning it with a rag & the rag got stuck so when i checked what it was i noticed a very big crack. It also cracked by the airbag & i honestly feel like that is a hazard. It bothers me to think i'm paying over $40k for a vehicle that i chose to defend my family & might malfunction if i'm ever in an accident.

Dashboard is cracking leading to risk of flying plastic shards in the event of a crash where the airbags are deployed. This is a design defect on chevy trucks of this model year and similar design model years.
Dashboard is cracked in multiple places, potentially representing a safety threat if the passenger air bag deploys.
Passenger side dashboard is cracked between the airbag cover and the front of the dashboard top panel.it turns out this is a problem others have noticed on these models as well.my concern is the proximity to the airbag.other owners have posted photos of larger cracks and holes in the dashboard in this location.i don't want it to cause an issue with airbag functionality were there to be an airbag deployment event. I don't know how long this had been cracked but it was first noticed by my wife on 5/13/2017.
Dash cracked above top left corner of passenger airbag
The dash is cracked in several places including around the airbag compartment. The cracking happened spontaneously for no apparent reason and has steadily gotten worse.
The dash above the steering wheel cracked on 12/4/2019, now making a rattling noise. The crack nowis going to expand due to vibration and it could effect the drivers side airbagdown the line.

On 1/22/2016, i was involved in a front end collision while making a left turn onto a major street. The vehicle i collided with approximate speed was 35mph when the collision occurred!!! the smell of gun powder was through out my vehicle. Also the service air bag warning light was flashing on my dash board. None of the factory air bags deployed during the front end collision!!!
Truck was hit on front driver side by another vehicle.the frame was bent and the left side was also damaged. Airbags were released. Front tires were damaged. This occurred on july 9, 2020. Insurance and repair company are trying to fix it with other parts. I was in motion on a side street and a speeding vehicle that i did not see hit me.*dt
Dash began to crack around the passenger airbag. I am afraid that the dash pieces can become flying projectiles in the event of an accident where the passenger or side impact airbag deploys.

The dashboard around the front passenger airbag is cracked. Unknown when it cracked.
Airbag was repaired under takata recall on 6/15/21, 24,122 miles on vehicle. Service airbag warning comes on the next day. Back to dealer and they said warning light is not related to what they did and just a coincidence. Hard to believe. Are there any other complaints of this happening ? thanks
Takata recall this vehicle has repeatedly shown airbag requires servicing since i bought the vehicle brand new.the warning has been looked at repeatedly and i am told nothing is wrong.however the warning persists.i received a letter about a possible recall but that letter was misplaced while asking about the constant warning.the takata site says the 2007-2013 chevy silverado is being recalled for the explosive bag.i am very afraid of an airbag problem but this warning still persists.do i have to have a deadly accident with the airbag to prove my point?
Dashboard has started cracking around my passenger airbag, leaving sharp edges that i feel may damage the airbag upon deployment.
I noticed literally from one day to the next that the dash board in my 2013 chevrolet silverado is cracking. The crack appeared on the left corner of the passenger side bag. I baby this truck in an attempt to keep it looking new. I don't even really drive it and it is garage kept. I feel this is a huge safety issue with the crack being right there on the air bag system. I have two kids and i don't even let then ride up front anymore in fear that the air bag might deploy and sharp pieces of the dash will fly in their faces.
Safety recall sent to me in march of 2021. It is june 7, 2021 and no remedy is available.
My dash cracked straight line above and attached to airbag, wasn't there, next day it was,nov 2016 38,000 mi. Called dealership(s) and i called gm/chev support and they said since it was no longer under warranty and there was no recall i would have to pay for it...i expressed my concerns as a huge safety issue and obvious defect.

Crack dashboard by the passenger airbag. I own this truck from day 1 and always had tinted window and use windshield sun shade.

Takatarecall.myproblem is i get a warning on the dash. Says check airbag. Is that bad
Takata recall air bag light has came on worried they may deploy
Dash board cracked upper left corner over airbag
Cracked dash, through and through, resulting in a sharp edge. This was a spontaneous crack.there was no force or trauma.it just randomly appeared.
The manufacturer has known about the problem with the passenger air bag for years and waited until february 2021to issue a recall. When the manufacturer was asked on7-22-2021 when this problem would be fixed they responded that they do not have a remedy for the problem. It seems to me that they are dragging tier feet in the hope that the problem will fix itself through attrition of the affected vehicles. Unless the government pressures the manufacturer by the use of fines or sanctions, they don't have any real reason to fix this problem in a timely manner.
2013 chevrolet 1500 silverado dash cracked above passenger air bag could cause flying sharp plastic pieces if deployed
Crack in dash from airbag to defrost vent
Dashboard is cracking all arround airbag, if airbag were to deploy it would spray plastic parts all over vehicle, it is a part defect and chevrolet knows this, they will do nothing to address this , there are many people on facebook showing 1000s of pictures , please help, this vehicle is not that old and the cracks started to appear at just 37,000 miles, also if you decide to fix the problem and pay for it yourself , they will not guarantee the new factory dash will not do it again, this just proves that they know it is made defective, hopefully something will be done about this before someone gets sprayed with flying defective parts arround the airbag
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v054000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. Huge crack on the dash possibly affecting the deployment of the air bag in the event of a crash. Crack was there when i got in the truck in the morning.
Air bag light is on.chevrolet service originally suspected it was the air bag module and wanted to replace it charging $800.00.they would not guarantee that was the problem.since we have replaced the air bag module took the vehicle in again to have it programmed and service stated that the new module would not accept programming and they are still not sure what the problem is.light is still on, no airbags.the service department doesn't appear to have any idea what is wrong and just want the consumer to pay for parts and labor until they figure it out.
The entire dashboard on the drivers side above gauge cluster is cracking.
Dashboard is cracked near the passenger side front airbag.an online search has turned up hundreds of similar cracks, some much worse, on similar chevrolet and gmc vehicles.many owners are concerned about airbag safety with the cracked dashboard.in my case, i never leave or place anything on the dashboard, i.e. Feet, miscellaneous items of weight, etc.it was first noticed about sep 26, 2015.there was no accident or anomaly that occurred to my knowledge that would cause this.
Upon wiping my dashboard with a dry cloth(never used any products to clean, or treat the dashboard area) and i do not park vechile in direct sunlight .... I noticed 4 to 5 cracks in the dashboard area of both drivers side and passengers side...most concerning... That 2 of the cracks are around the passanger air bag located on the passenger side dashboard...this is unacceptable as a consumer of gm and a chevy silverado who purchased a vechile thats priced above $45,000. I believe this should be taken very seriously considering the location of these cracks and should be a recall by gm considering the fact that many people are experiencing the same issues.....
Dealership does not have new air bags to replace due to takata has not come up with a resolution.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the service air bag warning indicator illuminated intermittently. Light bulb goes onut, in front headlights after replacing it. Replace it 3 times and it continues to go out.
My stable link and traction control light keep coming on and off then truck not running right and my starter/cranking dragging really hard and this is my 3rd starter in 3yrs
Backup lights were stuck on.had truck running and put truck in reverse. The fuse block under the hood starting burning. The truck kept running even after turning off the switch and removing the key. Had to actually pull the fuse block out of the truck to get it to turn off and stop it from burning. Sitting at local dealership now waiting to hear from them. Should have taken pictures.
While at low speeds, usually during a parking lot maneuver type condition... My truck's entire electrical system seems to shut down several times for like a second or two at a time. But it happens rapidly. Llke 4 to 5 times within 10 seconds. Due to the electronic steering not operating when it does this, it will bounce the steering sporadically when it cuts on/off and kind of scare you. At the same time the sad lights flicker and the door locks lock and unlock rapidly. Even as a veteran driver, it all happens so fast that you cannot regain control easily. When i stop, turn the truck off then restart it, it's been ok. This has only happened 3 times. But it clearly seems to be a problem with the ignition system shutting on/off really fast.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the trailer brake warning indicator illuminated, but the vehicle did not have trailer brakes. The contact also stated that the spare tire was flat. The vehicle was towed to lone star chevrolet (18900 northwest fwy, jersey village, tx 77065, (844) 891-7243) to be diagnosed. The dealer stated that a new module for the black box and new relays needed to be installed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 68,000. The vin was unknown.
The warning lights for stability and traction have come on. The dashboard is cracking badly and pieces are falling off.
The check engine light blinks off and on,traction and stability goes off then back on ,engine runs and idles rough and sometimes shifts hard.this happens while driving and sitting still (for the lights and rough idle) not the hard shifting. While searching on internet ,found it was a common problem with the 5.3l chevy/gmc engine.
Engine uses 3 quarts oil between required oil changes.#2 problem 4wd switchif i use auto 4wd . 4wd does not engage and wont switch out of auto .i was told at dealer ship just don't use auto 4wd it has always been a problem
I was driving the truck it started shaking, so i took it to the dealer. They said that there is carbon build up on the engine. There is only sixty thousand miles on the vehicle. Gmc sent out a bulletin to dealers that this is a problem and suggested the service dept flush the engine, but they can not promise anything. The dealer told me that i did not drive the truck enough, so that's what caused the problem. When i bought the truck they told me that it is a very clean running truck, not as much pollution. So instead of the carbon blowing out the tailpipe is it staying in the engine? i do not think that i should have to pay out all this money for something gmc over looked. This is a problem they did not see, so they should be responsible for the expenses. I might even need a new engine because they can not be sure the flushing and oil change will solve the problem and it can happen again.
Twice i have encountered un-commanded rapid acceleration while driving at approximately 45mph.i was able to get the acceleration back under control by pressing and holding the brakes. It has happened in the same location, i'm guessing it is some sort of radio signal interference.
My 2013 has developed the notorious lifter tick from a collapsed lifter (this affects many 5.3l v8 engines of this era).this will lead to excessive oil burning, and clogged exhaust systems over time due to the oil burning.this also damages/destroys the cam shaft over time and requires frequent spark plug changes.i suspect this problem started as early as 60,000 miles (while still under warranty) however because the truck wasn't consuming 1 qt / 1000 miles gm refused to look into the issue further.this is a well-documented issue on these vehiclesover time, this can lead to stalls or breakdowns which can be a hazard.it also serverely diminishes the resale value of the vehicle as the required repairs are quite expensive (about $2000 - $3500).
Truck was purchased certified pre-owned in june 2017, in june 2018 problems arose including rough idling, service engine light activation, and stabilitrak off message activation on the dash readout. General motors (gm) technical service bulletin (tsb) #10-06-01-008m was issued december, 2014 to address the repair for this problem. The issue was motor oil reaching the #1 and #7 cylinders thus fouling those two spark plugs.the truck was repaired under the extended warranty. The same symptoms appeared again in august 2020 and the chevy dealership diagnosed the same issue (mis-fire in the #7 cylinder) as described in the tsb. Since the vehicle was no longer under warranty, gm would not pay for the repair. I chose to deal with the symptoms myself which involved installing new spark plugs in the two cylinders. In mid-march of this year (2021), the symptoms appeared again and again the #1 and #7 spark plugs were fouled with motor oil. In each case, the vehicle was in motion when the symptoms presented. It's my understanding that stabilitrak is designed to help prevent accidents by giving the driver better control of the silverado. If a service stabilitrak warning appears, the silverado will no longer be assisted when a loss in lateral traction is detected. Additionally, the rough idling affects acceleration (loss of power.)

My truck has been consuming excessive oil.i have used the synthetic oil that is specified and changed the oil every 5000 miles.took it to the dealer and they said they have identified problems with the engine but my warranty has expired.i had to spend another $2,000 for an extended warranty to cover the future fixes they described.there should have been a recall to fix this problem when it was identified.i bought this vehicle new and have never been told of the issue until i complained to a chevy dealer.they know it exists yet they try to fix it with a band-aide type solution.in the end i had to spend $2,000 to cover a problem they knew existed yet did not let me know so i could bring it in before the warranty expired.now i am told i have to endure an oil consumption test requiring me to drive 45 minutes to the dealer, wait for my test and return again.then they experiment with three different things that might fix it before they replace the engine costing me time, money and inconvenience.as i type this i have to endure the chevy truck commercial that says they are the best built, longest lasting truck.i am disappointed and frustrated.i should have been notified of this problem long ago.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving at an unknown speed, an abnormal noise was coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to big city auto (4910 lima rd, fort wayne, in 46808). The contact was advised to go to summit city chevrolet (5200 illinois rd, fort wayne, in 46804). The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the engine warning indicator illuminated continuously. The dealer diagnosed that the lobes rounded off the vehicle and the exhaust lifters collapsed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 133,000.
Lifter ticking and lifter collapse. Stability and traction control system working improperly and flashed on and off and the truck started to hesitate and jerk. Oil consumer is excessive. This all occurred while driving on a city street without any prior problem. There were no check engine light or other 'idiot light' warnings before the lifter clicking started or the stability and traction control system acted up.
Afm system causes cylinders 1 and 7 to foul the spark plugs actually causing the porcelain to break off in the combustion chamber. The afm is obviously an engineering failure and should have been recalled and repaired under warranty. Previous fixes do not work. Modifying the valve cover to correct a design flaw is not a cure for the real problem, which is a design flaw. #1 and #7 foul out due to the collection of carbon deposit caused from excess oil in these chambers which causes the malfunction engine light to come on and the eventual catalytic convertor failure, poor gas mileage and poor overall performance, with eventual engine failure. Lack of acceleration, slow performance. First noticed at around 30 to 50,000 miles and progressively became worse. Idle is poor due to fouled and broken plugs in these two cylinders and the ecu attempting to correct the error the balance of engine is thrown into a unbalanced condition causing the buildup of carbon deposits in the engine and causing the sensors to attempt to correct the problem. Problem is universal and not specific to a few select vehicles but to those with the afm system and was obviously a problem severe enough for gm to change to the newly developed dfm system without attempting to actually address the flawed afm problem.
I own a2013 chevrolet silverado 1500 with 71,453 miles . The vehicle was serviced regularly and i recently noticed an oil consumption issue. After a visit to my usual service garage and subsequently a certified dealer., the problem was acknowledged. I called chevrolet usa and opened a file based on my information. At one point my truck computer warned to pull over and not drive any further due to low oil. Upon inspection there was no external reason for the fact that the oil was low. The vehicle has regular oil changes with mobil 1 synthetic. After checking chevrolet5.3 liter engine issues i found that a class action lawsuit was filed regarding the same issue as mine. The suit did not go anywhere but the issue seems to be the same that my truck is experiencing. It is not under warranty any longer but had only 71,453 milesat the time of issue recognition. Chevrolet customer service basically dismissed my complaint saying that there is nothing that they can do because there's no recall or gm bulletin. The dealer solution is a piston and ring replacement for $ 6,999.95 which is basically an engine rebuild (but not a complete one). Inaddition, they will install what was referred to as a ballast which would solve the consumption issue supposedly. If this is true then i assume that there is an inherent issue. Another alternative is to check your oil every 1000 miles and if you are low then add it. None of this makes sense with a vehicle that cost over $40,000 with 71,000 plus miles. I am registering this complaint because i am frustrated and disappointed. This i am sure that this has happened to others according to my research. Thank you.

Trying to turn in driveway at home, pickup truck surged ahead, causing head-on collisionwith fire hydrant, steering wheel locked up, seatbelt locked up, doors would not unlocked. My wife sustained numerous injuries. Complained to insurance company to no avail. Gm showed up at my house for computer analysis, process still ongoing. Truck in shop for surging waiting on results. My wife will not operate truck anymore.
Transmission has bad solenoid in transmission. While yruck was in motion no signs that the vehicle had issues and dropped to limp mode while driving on the highway. Check engine came on shooting trouble code po796. Found this to be common with many other same year make and models, even told so by transmission shop. Wanted to report this incase it needs to be added to possible future recall

The service stabilitrak/traction control come on (abs) at random times when driving. The truck begins to shift hard and lose power as i am driving making it very dangerous on the road especially at close proximity to other vehicles. I have taken it in and nothing can be found or done because they can't seem to find the problem. The truck has 73,000 miles on it. I am beyond frustrated and scared to drive it on the freewaybecause i never know when it will come up; it has been happening once a week (sometimes two) since june 2021. I just don't understand how gm allows this to happen and not fix the problem; it is clearly a danger on the road for myself, family, and others. Please look into this as i have read so many situations of other owners of gm models dealing with this disaster!
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that there was an abnormal sound coming from the brakes. The stabili trak system on warning light was illuminated as well as another unknown warning light. The vehicle was taken to the amigo chevrolet located at 1900 s 2nd st, gallup, nm 87301, (505) 726-4329, where the brake was repaired. The contact was unaware of exactly what repair was performed. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired a second time. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.consumer states that sound is heard when brakes are pressed. Consumer says when engine is started service traction control and stagilitrack lights come on dashboard. Consumer says that the problem is with the rotation or alignment and axle boots or joints from tire rotation. Consumer reported issue to dealer on 06/02/20 and was told that they would have to pay for repairs. *dl
At parking speeds the steering gets like if power steering is dead. Took it to dealership who noticed problem and said it was "normal" . Parking can become a risky maneuver. Ps fluid and belt are normal.
Bought this truck from granger dcjr in orange, tx on 7/20/21. Upon further inspection of vehicle on 7/25/21 found that there are no bushings in the rear shocks and that when you steer the truck at low speeds from a stop sign the rack and pinion locks up and you can not steer the truck. The steering issue almost caused me to hit 3 cars and almost run in a ditch. Dealer states that they have spent to much money on this truck and refuses to do the repairs. Now im stuck with a truck that cant be driven. Also this truck supposedly passed a 172 point inspection but i dont see how with these issues.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. While the contact was attempting to park the vehicle in reverse, the power steering seized without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 12,000. *dtthe consumer was not parking in reverse, but backing out of a parking space. The steering has never seized; however, the vehicle has lost power assisted steering while parking or, leaving parking.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving in a parking lot at a very low speed, the power steering seized. When the rpms were high, the power steering worked normally. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer stated that there was no recall and the contact was advised to call nhtsa. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 56,000.

Cracked dash.
Paint is peeling on roof.has been for well over a year.gm dealer said it was from a stone bruise, and i was out of warranty period.peeling above windshield is from drivers side all the way to passenger's side.hood is now starting to peel.
Right rear exterior door handle came loose, rarely use back doors went to open one day and it was loose.then the drivers door handle broke a few months later.
Cracked dash above the driver side and around the passenger side airbag. Due to either cheap material or defect in material. Vehicle is garage kept and was stationary when cracks appeared on both sides. Garage temperature was 76 degrees the day cracks happened.
Purchased vehicle with 9000 miles on it july of 2014. Within the last few months found that the frame wax is peeling resulting in the frame rusting. Dealers are advising because of mileage (40k) not their issue
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard cracked at the location of the passenger side air bag without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated that the warranty expired and nothing could be done. The manufacturer stated that the failure would be investigated. Dash and airbag support system cracked in multiple areas. Posing a safety risk
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. Thecontact stated that the engine mounts and frame were severely rusted. The bolts and nuts in the frame were also corroded and could not be removed. Additionally, all of the undercoating fractured from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the abnormal and extensive amount of corrosion to the frame and undercarriage areas were confirmed. The dealer informed the contact that they would remove all of the rust and corrosion and apply a new undercoating. The failure mileage was 500.
After taking a 780 mile round trip to missouri from texas, when filling up i noticed that the paint had peeled off in large chunks at the hood and roof.has several small areas that the paint is chipping.it looks as if the paint will not adhere to the body anymore.
Dash has cracked near passenger airbag, heard a loud pop while driving down interstate then noticed the crack, poor quality plastic or other issue is occurring to thousands of vehicles, how long before someone gets seriously injured before it gets investigated

Paint has peeled off above the windshield, paint looks very thin and brittle. Dashboard has two cracks near the passenger airbag. I am worried that if the airbag every went off the piece of plastic will be shot off and be a piece of shrapnel in an accident.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard was fractured in several positions, including over the front passenger side air bag. In the event of a crash, the air bag would not function as intended. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
The dashboard around the front passenger airbag is cracked. Unknown when it cracked.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked above the passenger side air bag. The contact stated that the air bag and wires were not exposed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The dash cracked on my 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500 on the corner that surrounds the passenger airbag. The vehicle was parked stationary over night.
Imy 2013 chevy z21 has started leaking sround the light on top and back light on the hood of the truck.i noticed wet spot on back part of headliner and some mold in the area.i have found where other people have said the same problem on their 2013 silverado,i can't found any recalls on this.i feel there needs tio be a recall from what i have found about this.. I noticed excessive frame rust. Contacted my local dealer and they took the truck in for proper fix. Rust was supposedly ground off and frame and undercarriage were undercoated. Apparently the factory wax coating was not properly cleaned before paint. I recently noticed the rust is back on the frame and front steering parts. This truck has only 16,000 miles, is garage kept and has rarely been driven in winter months.
Paint peeling off vehicle.
I have found cracks in the dash directly connected to the support braces for the passenger side air bag, in case of deployment the shards of broken plastic can impale into an individual causing injury or death
Paint is chipping and peeling along upper windshield. There have been no rocks or hail or any other reason for this to happen. A flake came off one day and as time went by i began to notice more areas. Upon a google search of chevy forums i find that this is not an uncommon issue, right down to the specific year/make/model and area of damage.
Finding high level of surface rust on silverado frame
I have a safety issue that i'm not sure what steps i should take in resolving this. Here's what had happen:last sunday 6-21-15, my husband and i was working in the garden and we heard a loud pop, approx. 30 feet from us was my truck and the passenger back window bowed out with breakage of glass.we were in shock! nothing was around the truck, birds, people, etc.. I took pictures before we did anything. I searched on the web and found this is a common problem (different types of vehicles). I would like to see if there is a investigation or recall on a situation like this. It concerns me because if i had been driving, my passengers (grand child) this would have been a dangerous situation plus the intense sound would had caused an accident. I'm not sure who would be responsible for this? could you please send me some feed back on what i can and can not do in resolving this. Thank you in advance.sincerely, a concern citizen
Bought truck used with 22000 miles on it and went to check spare tire area and found the frame hada lot of rust where the undercoat had pealed off. Went to dealer and they said it would cost them about $1000 to repair and would cost me $350 due to the warranty was past the 3 years.
The dash has cracked where the passenger air bag cover. It appears that if the air bag were to deploy the dash could fracture further and cause bodily harm.
The dash cracked and getting worse on this 40,000.00 truck.this is a very common defect from my internet search.it only has 70,000 miles, the sun cracked it and the electrical system could be effected later.rediculous, never had a newer model crack like this, very cheap!the vehicle was stationary i think when wife spotted it.they should fix this mess.
On 7/14 am i had the chevrolet dealer put 2 new tires and had an alignment done. We left on trip later that day and in a heavy rain storn near jacksonville, ar, without any warning the truck spun out of control on hwy 167s due to severe hydroplaning. The next day i looked at the tires and they were not the same tires as on the rear or as specified by gm. They should have been p245 and they were ms245. I recall when i first looked at the truck when we picked up at the chevrolet garage that they did not look "new". They were dusty and dirty and did not have the "new tire stipling" that i have seen on other new tires that i have purchased. I later found out by goodyear that the tires should have been put on the rear of the vehicle. I have done a lot of driving in snow and rain and when i notice hydroplaning, i slow down. But in this accident there was no warning. When i first called the checrolet dealer they said that 245 euro tires were put on my truck and they were better than the p245 tires and to contact there lawyer.i think the tires they put on that they sold as new, were taken off of another vehicle and put on my truck . I asked them if they would show me the order, bill of lading, and packing slip ane again they referred me to their lawyer.
The dash has a crack on the corner of the passenger side air bag
The dash board cracked right above the airbag on th passenger sidein the driveway park outside the house
Personal mechanic noted rotting frame areas, tubes between main frame supporting gas tank and connecting shock absorbers.metal fabricating business consulted and when gas tank was removed and entire main frame exposed severe rusting of main frame on both sides noted.appears entire frame should be replaced or extensive welding of new metal onto existing frame.the rear passenger shoch broke off and fell onto the highway prior to this. The gas tank was near falling off too. See attached pictures.
I take good care of my dash, i put a blanket over it and a sun visor to protect it from the sun. Yet, it still managed to get a crack. I believe it might be due to gm using cheap material or over tightening the dash. This had to happen on a very hot day when my truck was parked.
Paint has continued to chip off the body of the vehicle in large sections. The body shops have commented that they have seen numerous issues involving chevrolet paint. Chevrolet knows the primer under the paint is defective. Chevrolet has not done anything to correct this issue.
Iwent to open my drivers side door inside and the handle snapped off in my hand ,i called my dealer and was told they would not cover this under my warranty, i took my truck to a body shop where the owner told me i would have to purchase the whole interior door panel of a list price of 430 dollars , he called a gm dealer to order the panel, and we were both told that this is a very common problem with this truck it is a defect in the manufacturing , and he told me to contact gm and they would help me out with this issue , i did e-mail chevrolet , and on 12-31-2016, receiveda phone call from a very nice woman who told me i am covered under my extended warranty that i purchase for this repair , and that i would be hearing back from them on 1-3-2016, well i sure did hear back only instead of a reputable honest and caring company , that actually cares about the customer and would like to see the customer actually want to purchase more gm products, i got the goon squad , hired thugs, who job it is to try and deny all legitimate claims , is it gm policy to tell acustomer they are covered , and then only to have some idiot to try and take that away ??? , this genius tries to tell me because a non gm shop made the repair , they will not cover the warranty, well genius !!! how can i take it to the dealer when they said no!!!, and i am a reasonable man , who would like to keep purchasing gm products , well sirs give me a reason that i would want to, and i am not asking for the cost of the labor, i am asking for the cost of a defected door handle panel, that i have read numerous complaints about on line , please google problems with this truck, i am waitin to hear back from you , thank you for your time , and i am hoping you will do the right thing ?
The driver door handle (both the interior or exterior handles) would not open the door when stopped. The repair shop showed me a small pot metal arm that broke inside the door panel and caused the problem. While not an issue by itself, if the auto was in an accident, this would not have allowed the driver to exit the vehicle, depending on the final resting position. Further adding to this is that the issue appeared for a day, then the door worked fine for 2 more days before becoming permanently non-functioning.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the door handle fractured for the second time. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (jeff schmitt chevrolet south, 125 s gebhart church rd, miamisburg, oh 45342, (855) 529-1732), but was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. The manufacturer was called and stated that the repairs would be the contact's responsibility. The failure mileage was 19,787.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that while inspecting the vehicle, he noticed the subframe was completed rusted. The contact called local dealer cma's colonial chevrolet located at 12420 jefferson davis hwy, chester, va 23831, (804) 748-6461, where it was diagnosed with needing the undercarriage subframe to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had not been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 111,300.
Bought this truck from granger dcjr in orange, tx on 7/20/21. My stable link and traction control light keep coming on and off then truck not running right and my starter/cranking dragging really hard and this is my 3rd starter in 3yrs
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving 60 mph, an abnormal sound emitted from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the leaf spring fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, the passenger side windshield wiper became inoperable without warning. The vehicle was not diagnosed; however, the windshield wiper module was replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,000.
The dash on my 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500 has cracked just above the airbag on the passenger side of the vehicle. To me this poses a safety concern should there be a collision causing the airbag to deploy where the crack may puncture the airbag. The vehicle was stationary, being parked just in front of my house when the crack occurred.
Dash began to crack around the passenger airbag. I am afraid that the dash pieces can become flying projectiles in the event of an accident where the passenger or side impact airbag deploys.
Dash has cracked in 2 different spots.
Dash cracked approximately 3'.very low miles, vehicle has always been garaged.
Huge crack on the dash possibly affecting the deployment of the air bag in the event of a crash. Crack was there when i got in the truck in the morning.
My dash has crack in it ,on top of passenger side airbag( that should and is a safety issue! the other crack is on the driver side!!!
Dashboard spontaneously cracked near the top left corner of the airbag.the dashboard was intact when locked up overnight, and when i returned to drive the truck the next morning, the dashboard had spontaneously cracked overnight while sitting in my driveway.
Cracked dash. Common issue with 2007-2013 from a quick search online. Cracked right at air bag so worried if air bag were to come out shards of plastic would deflate air bag or hurt passengers.
Interior dash has 2 cracks by airbag and 1 large crack in front of steering wheel.
Vehicle dash cracked around passenger side airbag.took vehicle into dealership advised not under any warranty or recalls.worried in the event of a collision pieces may become flying objects in the event of air bag deployment.
The dashboard in my pickup has cracked from one side to the other and i am afraid that if i am in an accident that there will be airborne pieces of plastic that will become a hazard.
Dashboard starting to crack on passenger side. 3 years 7 days...
The dash developed a crack at the left corner of the passenger airbag, which was identical to the one that occurred in our 2012 chevrolet suburban. The vehicle is in excellent condition, and extremely well maintained. Miles are at 32,000, but the factory warranty ran out at the end of may and chevy refuses to cover the repair at 100%.
The dashboard has developed a large sharp crack in it about 9 inches long. This truck has been garage kept and has never been wrecked. It just appeared one day.
Two cracks appeared on dashboard near air bag.
My 2013 chevy silverado has an air conditioning problem. So did my old truck, a 2010, which i teased in for the 2013. I have ran across many, many complaints if this on the chevy's on google and youtube. I only have 21,000 miles on this 2013. Gm should replace the part(s) to make this right. I have no problem trading it in for another make of a different truck. I love where the highs can be 100 degrees easily, not good if the problem still exists with all the complaints! the ac blows warm. I'm not paying $1000.00 for the fix that should've been done by gm in the first place!! i bought this used vehicle in nov 2017.
2013 chevrolet 1500 silverado dash cracked above passenger air bag could cause flying sharp plastic pieces if deployed
My dashboard is severely cracked in 2 places. By the passenger airbag and the steering column.
While vehicle was in motion we heard a popping noise from front of cabin . Then saw two cracks in the dash. One at the passenger air bag and the other on driver side at the instrument cluster.
Dash board started cracking around front passenger airbag. 26,400 miles purchased august 2013
Dashboard crack on the left-hand side of passenger airbag. And dashboard rattles on driver-side. Very concerned if in an accident the dashboard will send projectiles because it's so close to airbag.
Cracked dash.lifter from 8 to 4 cylinder break down.4000 fix
The vehicle's frame is rusting out and breaking at the rear end of the truck.
Crack dash the truck is garage sense i brought it new it has only 21000 miles it never been outside as far just setting the crack seems to be getting bigger . The truck as never been any accidents .
Severe frame rust
Cracked dashboard near airbag.
The dashboard around the front passenger airbag is cracked. Unknown when it cracked.
Dash cracked from corner of passenger air bag to corner of defrost vent. Concerned if air bag deploys dash fragments may cause bodily harm. Not sure if cracked formed during motion or sitting stationary.
Cracked dash, through and through, resulting in a sharp edge. This was a spontaneous crack.there was no force or trauma.it just randomly appeared.
The dash is cracked in several places including around the airbag compartment. The cracking happened spontaneously for no apparent reason and has steadily gotten worse.
Dashboard is cracked in multiple places, potentially representing a safety threat if the passenger air bag deploys.
The dash above the steering wheel cracked on 12/4/2019, now making a rattling noise. The crack nowis going to expand due to vibration and it could effect the drivers side airbagdown the line.
Cracked dash board
Clutches in transmission where when truck in drive the truck will not go to 40 or above. The truck was moving on city street head toward 95 north.as a result of problem i had to use aaa to get back to baltimore from frederickburg va this is the second times sincethe vehicle has been in my name that this problem happen.the first time was july 26 2016 where the dealership repair (under warranty)this transmission problemseem very immature due age of truck and less than 65000 miles
Cracking dashboard by air bag
Dash cracked-my dash was replaced under warranty once already. It was cracked near the passenger airbag. It is now cracked again across the front window defrost on the drivers side. My truck is 7 years old and now needs the dash replaced for a 2nd time. I think that is a bit ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is that after it was replaced the first time the service tech told me that they new it was a problem with all of the black interior vehicles that had the gray dash and that it will crack again. Well its 5-6 yrs from when i had it replaced and its cracked again.
My dash has cracked on 2 corners near the air bag
My dash has cracked in 2 spots. My truck is always parked in a parking garage and is well taken care of. It also has a rattle in the dash.
The passenger side dashboard is cracking above the airbag.
The dash surrounding the passenger airbag is cracking in the upper corners. Also it's cracking in front of the driver side. An accident could lead to pieces of the dash breaking and causing injury or death to passengers.
Right after purchasing my used truck that had around 68,000 miles on it the dash cracked in two different places. The dash cracked just above the instrument cluster and above the passenger airbag.
Has 28k miles on it and the paint has runs and clear coat peeled. Dash is also cracked giving serious concerns to air bag deployment causing flying depris. Dealer basically said your sol
Radio volume and turn signal sound stopped even radio on.when turned completely off, phone symbol started flashing on radio screen and stayed on.security alerts for seat belt, door open and key in ignition also not working.has progressively gotten worse.vehicle was stationary when first started and problem as continued while driving.when turned off the radio display will not go off even though turned off.dealership has no clue what's wrong.saw online where 2014 silverado recalled for base radio problems that are similar to this problem (14v301000).
I have a cracks in my dashboard. One of which is by the passenger side airbag, which if was inflated would send plastic dashboard pieces into the passenger face, due to the brittleness of the plastic that cracks when touched. There is another crack on the driver side of the dash, which is brittle to the touch. Gm refuses to fix for free, even knowing there are thousands of vehicles with the same problem. The faulty plastic dashboard continues to get worse, as gm has installed these defective dashboards in thousands of vehicles.
The warning lights for stability and traction have come on. The dashboard is cracking badly and pieces are falling off.
2013 chevrolet silverado rear sliding electric window stuck open. The motor can be heard working, but the window does not move. Recall for the same problem in years 2014, 2015, 2016, but not 2013?
While in california (from texas) and a/c stops blowing cold or warn, just hot air. Tried adding sealant and freon that worked for about 10 minutes. Since then just hot air. Driving back from ca to tx thru the central valley, az and nm was not fun with temps > 90. I was checking here to see if anyone has had success on getting gm to fix this problem that seems rampant with this model silverado/sierra.update from jul 14, 2020 i wrote to gm and received one phone call with a number to call. Called the number over 10 times, every time i was disconnected while going through the menu. Received a letter from chevrolet with the same useless phone number. Wrote again hoping to get email address to open a dialog.
I have 2 large cracks on my dash panel. One is near the dash mounted air bag, and the second is running above my instrument panel. These cracks developed over time. I have found out that this is a common issue with my vehicle. Chevrolet refused to cover the issue under warranty, even after i showed them how wide spread this issue is among chevrolet vehicles.
The dashboard has a crack on the passenger side where the airbag cutout is. I believe this is amajor safety issue. Especially if you're in an accident and the airbag deployed there will be pictures of dash board shards fiying through the air and possibly into the occupants with force from the airbag.
Cracked dashboard around air bag.
Crack dashboard by the passenger airbag. I own this truck from day 1 and always had tinted window and use windshield sun shade.
Dash has cracked near passenger airbag, heard a loud pop while driving down interstate then noticed the crack, poor quality plastic or other issue is occurring to thousands of vehicles, how long before someone gets seriously injured before it gets investigated
The dash board has multiple cracks and the ac control buttons have worn off.
Cracked dashboard with only 50k miles on the truck.
Paint has peeled off above the windshield, paint looks very thin and brittle. Dashboard has two cracks near the passenger airbag. I am worried that if the airbag every went off the piece of plastic will be shot off and be a piece of shrapnel in an accident.
Dashboard cracked above the steering wheel in the bend from flat to uprising. Vehicle was parked when this occurred.
I have two cracks on my dashboard .one crack is directly over my instrument panel, and the second is on passenger side off the left corner of airbag. This 2013 chevrolet silverado ltz c1500 has only 47,414 miles on it. This is obviously a defect by manufacturer. I baby this truck and keep it covered under my carport at my home. I drive a company truck on week days and my truck on weekends. These two cracks happened while truck was sitting stationary under my carport. Is there a recall on this ,and will manufacturer replace at no cost to me.
I purchased this vehicle new from crews chevroet in north charleston south carolina.the vehicle has less than 12000 miles.approximately two weeks ago for no apparent reason i discovered a crack in the dash near the passanger air bag.i took the vehicle to crews chevrolet and the service person stated it was probably due to the sun.i purchased gm's major guard extended protection and eventhough the dash is not listed under items not covered i was told the dash is not covered under the extended warranty.i have contacted chevrolet customer service and am scheduled to have the vehicle inspected again on 27 may 2017.this is definately a product defect or material defect.i have read on the internet all the other cracked dash issues with gm/chevrolet.at what point is gm/chevrolet going to admit this is a defect and customers will see a recall?this crack runs right at the corner of the passanger airbag and i feel this is a safety issue.
Driving down the road and the dashboard cracked on top by air bag
Dash cracked above top left corner of passenger airbag
Cracks in dashboard , expose airbag , recall needed , please help us and make a compliant.
The dash in my 2013 silverado is cracking, i am concerned about safety if i was to be involved in an accident with deployed airbags.
Cracked dash.
My stable link and traction control light keep coming on and off then truck not running right and my starter/cranking dragging really hard and this is my 3rd starter in 3yrs
After passing two cars at high speed with accelerator floored pedal was stuck to floor.tried to pull it up with foot, could not, vehicle kept accelerating past 100mph. Had ride brake until speed was slowed enough to put in neutral and shut off and coast to stop. Cruise control was engaged at the time. After putting in park and starting all was fine. Dealer kept truck for a few a days and found nothing wrong. Mentioned floor mat which was ridiculous.
Wipers run very slowly and sometimes stop.this can be dangerous when it's raining and has caused me to stop due to not being able to clear the windshield. This has happened two other times.the problem is intermittent. I've read this may make the wiper motor work harder which could lead to a fire.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving, the front passenger window dropped down independently. The vehicle was taken to catalano motors inc (8327 erie rd, angola, ny 14006) where it was diagnosed that the steel cable fractured due to rust and the part needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 36,209. Consumer stated due to the extreme cold weather the cable rusted and broke.
The wipes starred while driving going slow and would just stop. Which after talking to car specialist was told it was tge motor had hone bad. The truck only has 90k on it should this happen so soon? this is very dangerous to suddenly happen with no warning or indication the motor was going bad. My husband was driving to work on highway and in city a 30 to 40 minutes away from home.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving at a highway rate of speed, the window wiper motor failed and caused the wipers not to work. The contact had to quickly adjust the wipers in inclement weather. The vehicle was to be taken to a mechanic for diagnostic testing and repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no remedy. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
I brought my '13 silverado in for service because the a/c would not come on and defog the windshield in the recent snow storm. The service rep (correctly) informed me that the a/c compressor will not turn if the temperature is below 40f. So no fix by the dealer was done.this is a safety issue in cold/freezing weather conditions where the windshield fogs up severely when you get in the truck. The fogging continues even after the heater is warmed up and blowing hot air out the defroster ducts especially if the passengers are wet or snowy when they get in. I do understand that gm is trying prevent the a/c evaporator from being blocked by freezing condensation, but it seems to me that this situation could be helped by recirculation of cabin air plus bleeding some hot air from the heater core back to the a/c evaporator. This issue really needs to be fixed so that the truck is truly an "all weather vehicle" in falling snow below 40.
While driving on a cool morning (55 f) the driver side defogged, but the passenger side would defog.i turned the temp warmer and the airflow up, but the passenger side was still very slow to defog.there was very low airflow coming from the vent on the passenger side.after the temp/airflow was adjusted to a reasonable setting, the passenger side suddenly fogged up again, immediately impeding visibility out of the passenger side of the windshield and the passenger window, also blocking visibility of the passenger mirror.was advised by dealer that the cause was an improperly installed seal adjacent to the heater core, but not covered by any recall or warranty.this should be recalled, as sudden fogging and loss of visibility at highway speeds could likely result in an accident.
The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet silverado 1500. Once the defroster was activated, it failed to defrost the passenger side of the windshield blocking the contact's visibility. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the flap was stuck and manually moved the flapper. The failure recurred, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 2,000. Ma 10/19/15the consumer stated the passenger side cold and the driver side was normal. However, after adjusting the temperature several times, it would resume normal operation after 5-10 minutes. Updated 03/31/16.
Im not able to let down the spare. The system dont work properly on most trucks. This is dangerous when on the interstate
I have had a vibration issue since getting my second set of replacement rims. I am on my third set of wheels and the vibration is worse. While having a competent dealership diagnose the problem the front wheels fake chrome plastic cap came off on the mechanic while driving it. The other 3 are loose. Gm said they will replace the front wheel but they will not replace the other 3 even though it is still under warranty. This would be the fourth set of wheels in 28000 miles. The first set was replaced at 1000 miles. The vibration issue with these trucks is due to the crappy wheels. Aluminum wheels with a foam laminate with the fake chrome plastic cap somehow adhered to the foam. These are 20" fake chrome clad wheels. I asked the dealer to tow it in and replace the wheels again. I also contacted gm zone office with an employee getting back to me with a prepared statement he did not want to deviate from. I informed him this is a safety issue as i would not want to be the motorcyclist that gets the part in the head when another one comes apart. I could not get an answer from either the dealer or gm as to it being safe or unsafe to drive. I was told the other 3 wheels are at my cost even though it is still under warranty and the truck has a continuous vibration issue. I have attached a photo. There is no possible way to balance something like this. The amount of weights that are attached to each wheel is absurd.
