The dash has a crack above the passenger side airbag. The crack is completely through the entire piece of plastic so it makes meconcerned to drive the vehicle if it were involved in an accident i am not certain that there wouldn't be plastic flying throughout the cab of the truck. The truck has just over 60000 miles and we were told it is out of warranty therefore the estimate to repair is $1004

Couldnt even turn my ac on or off.called the dealership we got it from and they told me i was looking at a 2 week wait but i could drop it off on 7/18 and they would get to it.

Developed crack on dash where airbag is on passenger side, crack is about 6 inches long, will this effect airbag deployment?

My 2012 chevy silverado has started cracking on the passenger side nearby the air bag area. The car was parked in my parking lot when i realized this cracking issue started. I am just worried that it will crack more and be a safety issue in the future.

Chevy refuses to replace the recalled takata airbags currently under recall without doing a ā€œfull vehicle inspectionā€¯ and providing us with a ā€œlist of repairs that must be madeā€¯ before the airbag can be ordered or replaced.note: the is nothing wrong with our truck.they say this is their standard operating procedure for this recall and it requires two full day appointments: one for the inspection and one for the recall repair.they refuse to order the replacement airbag until the inspection has been completed and any repairs chevy deems ā€œnecessaryā€¯ are complete.this seems to me to be extortion, i.e. We have to keep a defective airbag or comply with their inspection and any repair/payment for anything they deem ā€œnecessary.ā€¯

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v051000 (air bags). The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer for the recall repair. While the mechanic was inspecting the vehicle, the contact was informed that while performing the recall repair on the passengerā€™s side frontal air bag, there could be potential damages to the dashboard that the dealer would not be responsible for repairing, replacing, or reimbursing the contact for any damages.the contact felt that was not right and did not want the recall repair performed if neither the dealer nor the manufacturer would not repair nor reimburse the contact for damages made to the dashboard.the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and agreed with the local dealer. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

My passenger air bag was replaced under recall n202324210 by priority chevrolet of chesapeake va. I was required by the dealership to sign acknowledging that the gm or the dealership would not take responsibility for dashboard cracking as part of the repair.my truck is low mileage and in great condition so i expected no problems. However, the dealership technician did crack my dashboard and predictably the dealership refused to take any action. I think it is unacceptable that the manufacturer and their authorized service departments should be allowed to damage customer vehicles during recall repairs. Also, while my cracks are fairly small, i have no idea what invisible damage might have occurred. How can i be confident that the recall repair did not create missile hazards? it is common to view the dashboard as merely decorative but i am now forced to consider what new hazards are presented by the dashboard, both from unsecured material in a crash and missile hazards in the area of the airbag, that were directly caused by a government ordered recall.i believe that nhtsa should order repair of all mounting equipment and dashboard components as part of this and future air bag recalls.thank you.

The dash in my 2012 silverado truck has cracked on it's own in front of the passenger side airbag. This is a known defect to consumers(just do a google search) with a safety concern that if the air is deployed, the cracked plastic could get blown off and become a deadly projectile.there is no aspect of this that can or should be considered safe.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 21v054000 (air bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. A dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

Chevrolet used extremely thin wires and the wiring harness that goes through the door hing break apart inside the insulator causing the airbag sensor in the driver door not to work. Other people with same truck have had same issue. It is a very dangurous issue and a very expensive issue to have fixed. This should not be happening wire you not break inside the insulator.

My air bad light is on and my horn does not work. I called gm customer service. They said there was no recalls on my truck. She then told me i had to take my truck in to see if it has a recall. I ask her which is it, is there a recall or not?she said no recall but i had to go into service to see if there is a recall. There either is it isn't. I feel gm is trying to cover thier butts. Seems to me that they know of a problem but don't want to go public with it. I'm a 100% disabled veteran. I purchased this vehicle brand new 5 years ago, i only have 55k miles on my truck. I can't afford to pay for a problem with my truck especially if gm knows about it but refuses to own up to thier mistake.

The common dash crack in my 2012 silverado with only 40k miles. I had a sunroof installed to let the heat out and my truck is clearly stored in a garage and the trucks dash still cracked. Its so bad the dash rattles when driving and im worried about the quality of plastic used on the dash that when the air bag deploys, that the dash will turn into sharp shards of plastic headed towards my passengers and i. I never expected suck a well taken care of vehicle with such low miles to have a cracked dash and [xxx] sure not a gm product. Toyota had the same issue but they fixed there issue.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Cracked dashboard at passenger airbag causing a potential airbag deployment issue. I noticed this while cleaning said dashboard. No items were ever stored on the dashboard. Dealership quotes $1250 to repair same.

Cracks in dashboard around air bag.

Tthis vehicle was involved in 3 separate accidents, 1st another driver pulled out in front of the truck causing the accident; 2nd a driver fell asleep with his foot on the accelerator and rear ended me at about 90 mph; 3rd an out state driver rear ended my son's car which was forced into the rear of my truck. The 3 accidents were severe enough that there should have been some type of air bag deployment but there was not.i notified gm immediately after the 1st accident about the failure of the air bags to deploy.i should mentioned that the driver's seat belt broke due the harshness of the accident.all this happened several years ago but gm never answered me nor took any action to investigate the failure of the air bags to deploy. Today, 4 march, i received a recall notice because after all these years takata has admitted there is a problem with the bags, except they say it is only the passenger air bag.to tell you the truth i didn't even think i had air bags because they never worked.the id number for this recall is 21v051.i am hopeful that even though these accidents took place years ago, i don't have actual dates because i didn't they were important, that you, as the federal agency responsible for overseeing the safety of cars using our highways, will inquire as to why gm failed to investigate a safety complaint submitted to their customer assistance center.having some administration knowledge i am sure there has to be a file folder with my complaint in it.thank you and please help me?

Moving on highway 60mph and vehicle shut down with no warning. Vehicle had been driven to several locations previously and showed no difficulties in starting or unusual symptoms while running.aaa towing service got truck to my home.will not crank or start.itwould not take a jump from aaa towing before they loaded it onto their truck.incident occured on 04/08/2021 on u.s. Hwy 98 north, lakeland, fl.33810.fortunately no traffic was behind me at the time.vehicle sits in my driveway unrepaired.89,775 miles on odometer.

Lights go dim on it all the time and the electric system in it is bad sometimes the air condition works most of the time it don't and the cruise quit working in it

My truck should have no issues as i follow the maintenance schedule and take good care of my vehicle but it has happened twice where i was in the middle of the interstate when my vehicle displayed the check engine light, traction off, stabiltrac off, the airvents stopped blowing cool air and released humidity, brakes were not functioning properly (hard to actually break), steering wheel/power steering was malfunctioning making it almost impossible to turn or get out of traffic and it seems the vehicle just decided to suddenly stall while in motion. I was very lucky due to sudden high risk ofa vehicle crash and was able to pull over without getting anyone hurt. I turned the vehicle off once i got in park and looked under the hood, everything was fine showing no issues but i went to start the vehicle and it did not crank or try to turn over but all electronics/lights were still working. Icheck all fluid levels, all was fine and then i went to try one more time to start the vehicle. To my surprise, it started up just fine and with only the check engine light on and not reading any other messages. All functions were working properly but i was too scared to go anywhere without having an idea what just happened. I went to the closest trusted auto place that would be able to use a scanner to find the trouble codes of my check engine light. The code was for a malfunction with the internal control module (code: p0601). This has happened to me twice in the last week and its very scary to feel at risk for a sudden malfunction to cause a crash. After researching, i noticed that there was a recall bulletin no: 14515b, that had covered pretty much the same issues and for my vehicle's year/model. My vin didn't register for any recalls, i don't understand how other vehicles are getting qualified in order to prevent the same issues i'm experiencing.

Taka recall ignition is hard to turn and start

Traction goes off. Steering wheel locks up and engine shuts off after all the warning lights come on. Your no longer able to pick up speed or steer the truck.

Reviewed recall 18v295 and my vehicle has 1 bad power window switch which does not work. Could liquid have caused this same problem under this recall? does not work in any vehicle motion.

Driver's side low beam headlight goes out. The lightbulb is in good order. The pigtail shows signs of excessive heat/small fire, plastic melting, carbon in the metal contact on the lightbulb and socket. The pigtail was replaced and lasted approximately one month to show the same issues. I am afraid of a vehicle fire. The vehicle's stabilitrack is unusable, the warning light is on. The issues happen while the vehicle is in motion and stationary. The issues happened suddenly during normal city/highway driving. The issues are ongoing and started six months ago.

Oil pressure warning indicator alarmed, stating shut engine off immediately!went repair shop close to home, a diagnosing test showed no codes at all. A check of bulletins for possible issue with codes that should be present, were not there? shop has recommended i take vehicle to a dealership for further analysis.

I was driving on the freeway and the traction control lights turned on plus the locks started unlocking and locking and the truck turned off.

The contact that stated that while driving at various speeds making a right turn, the vehicle seized for about 2-3 seconds which caused the contact to loss control of the steering wheel.the contact tried to depressed the brake pedal which traveled to the floorboard. Within a few seconds, the vehicle resumed back to normal as the contact regained control crashing into a telephone pole knocking it completely down. The air bag warning light illuminated. No air bags deployed. The contact did not sustain injuries. A police report was filed. No medical attention was contacted. The vehicle was towed to young vw mazda 191 commerce park dr, easton, pa 18045 (610) 991-9100 where it was diagnosed, however, unable to duplicate the issue. The technician replaced the front bumper. Right headlight is in-operable. Light bulb has been replaced with oe bulb, light still does not work. Dealer stated this is an ongoing issue with this make and model. Dealer also stated i would need multiple hours of diagnostic to determine the issue. No accidents, no collisions. Vehicle at this time is unsafe to drive at night. Multiple dealers in my area have noted this as an issue for my make and model. Right low beam is completely in-operable.

Ignition switch is bad. It locks up to where the key will need to be turned around and tried again. When taking key out the key hole (at times) stays in the on position and dings as i leave making the assessories function stay on. If key is bumped the key can turn off truck making all power turn off.

Rear wheels lock up when down shiftingwhen driving speeds of 40 mph or more

Lights go dim on it all the time and the electric system in it is bad sometimes the air condition works most of the time it don't and the cruise quit working in it

Just driving down the road one day and the abs, traction control, and stablitrak turned off. Lights came on, on the dash saying service abs and traction control. Turned truck off and back on and the lights turned off and everything was fine, but within 30 minutes it comes back on. Usually comes on when normal braking (not hard) you can feel the abs lock up and the lights come on saying traction control is off and abs is off.some days the lights come on as soon as you start the truck in the morning and some days it doesn't come on at all. Never had the truck off road, on road use only, truck is stock and has not been lifted yet. I wash the truck every 2 weeks, and the truck only had about 38xxx miles on it when this happened and still is happening. The date reported was an estimate since i have been driving the truck with this problem for a couple months

There has been various occasions where we are driving and the truck stops with no warning or reason, the first time was on i-95 highway in philadelphia mid traffic the truck turned off and would not restart for about 5minutes we weee stuck in the middle of the road blocking traffic, no check engine light or any warning light came on. The second time was just this week on the way to two different mechanics to get the computer read it turned off yet again in the middle of the road. Both mechanics said nothing can up on the scanner when connected and there were no check engine lights turned on.

Took wife in city traffic uptown..pcv value got clogged causing oil to get on spark plugs and foul them out causing the intake manifold to have to be taken off and cleaned and all spark plugs and covers replaced.. Manifold gasket replaced.. Cost me almost $800 and there is only 56,000 miles on it!fortunate that i was able to only have to drive about 3 miles to dealership!

My truckhas been having issue after issue with sensors going bad and check enginge light always coming on. Now i have a transmission issue with a solenoid going bad. The transmission has had the "clunk" as people discribe it since i purchased it. Nothing was wrong with it so i was told and that was normal. There are so many complaints on this year and make silverado its pretty sad that nothing has been done. Now my truck sits and still paying the note because of this transmission issue that a ton of people have reported. How many thigs do i have to change before the check engine light stops coming on. Please help all of us who own a chevy and have gm make this right.

Usually in the mornings but also other times when i start my truck up. The steering stabilizer and stability act lights come on. Sometimes it turns off and other times it stays on. I see that the 2015 chevy silverado has a recall on this same issue but mine is a 2012. Thank you

I entered the intersection after stopping at the stop sign. I was halfway through the divided intersectionthat hada road closed sign for the exit side of theintersection and a do notenter signforthe entranceside. The median was over grown with vegetation so that visibility was poor. I started across the intersection and about half way through a carentering at fast rate of speed hit the front of my truck knocking to the left. The airbag deployed and i was thrown to the right and the engine went to full speed. The truck hit a palm tree.

Was driving vehicle on highway and engine service light came on. When scanned code came up for low oil pressure. Checked oil levels and there was no oil present on the oil dipstick. I had to add 3 quarts of oil to return it to the proper oil level. I now check oil level regularly and have to add an excessive amount of oil on a regular basis.

Oil consumption issue with 5.3 l v8 engine. Uses 4 qts of oil between 5000 mile oil change. Started at 95352 miles when warning light came on saying oil pressure was extremely low. Found out truck only had 2 qts of oil left in it. Oil life reading was still at 7%. Then engine started fouling cylinder one spark plug noticed by engine code and sluggish driving. Dealer replaced, fouled again. Dealer replaced left valve cover to fix, fouled plug again. Dealer suggested piston ring job. Not done due to cost. Now has fouled plug two more times and is still using 4 qts oil between 5000 mile oil changes. Only 119816 miles currenly.

A check of bulletins for possible issue with codes that should be present, were not there? shop has recommended i take vehicle to a dealership for further analysis.

Engine using 1 to 2 quarts of oil each oil change(i do check level at time of each gas refueling)this problem was documented at the service department, tom tepe auto center, chevrolet dealer in milan, indianadennis murphy manager812-654-3001milage in at the time was 13831,issue still exists!

At 170208 miles the cam went out while driving it on a city street it started tapping lifters, i took it directly to repair shop for inspection and a new motor has to be put in. I bought this vehicle one year ago at 139171 miles with powertrain assurance with apg corp. But no one wants to cover it now that it has issues. Even with regular maintenance.

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle idled roughly and stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (punente hills chevrolet located at 17300 e gale ave city of industry, ca 91748 888-202-3593) where it was diagnosed that the valve cover needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was 52,099.

Excessive oil comsumption. I change oil and 1000 miles later my check engine lighr comes on . I check oil and it isn't even on the stick.

Got truck 1-25-16 with 49066 miles now 9-12-2018 has 94000 use's oil between changes. I always change when oil life monitor says 10% life left use ac delco dexos oil doesn't leak or smoke . I traded in a 1999 silverado with 201000 miles it used no oil.gm needs to take care of this problem as i hear it happens to far to many trucks with the 5.3 engine

Engine light would come on and engine would not be operating properly.apeared to be misfiring.it was taken in to the dealership four different times and diagnosed with cylinder misfire oil fouled spark plug each time.problem persisted until we were informed by the dealership after the warranty expired it would need a new engine.manufacture and dealership were unhelpful and did not accept responsibility for a defective engine.there is a class action lawsuit pending for this model and type engine with others experiencing the same problems.

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil. The oil indicator warning light was illuminated. The contact checked the oil dipstick and notice no indication of oil on the dipstick. The vehicle was taken to burns chevrolet (2515 cherry rd, rock hill, sc 29732, (803) 392-4180) where an oil consumption test was provided and diagnosed that the engine needed to be rebuilt. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.

In motion on highway, motor looses oil pressure.oil pressure sensor and related filter already changed once, failing again.

I have had several issues with engine oil pressure sensors and now the lifter dropped and damaged cam, simmons rockwell says i need a new motor. It has 143,000 miles on it

The airbag light is always on and it blinks on and off every time the car is turn on in motion and airbag light stays on until it's park

Both head lights randomly go out while driving in the city, highway, country road, turning, regardless of the weather. . sometimes only one headlight goes out other times both headlights go out at the same time. Yellow fog lights stay on . Bright lights will work and turn on.i have to pull over everytime this happens, open the hood of my truck and move the wires arounf that attaches to the headlight that went out. It will work momentarily and then go out again. This is happened multiple times. From november until current. The problem started with the drivers side headlight going out and now both go out. The lights go out at multiple speeds.

The low beam head lights constantly goes out.i have to shake or wiggle them to get them to work sometimes. Finally, they will stop working all together after a few days.the lightsmost of the time will not come on after the truck has been switched off and i start it up and the lights will not come back on.

Lights go dim on it all the time and the electric system in it is bad sometimes the air condition works most of the time it don't and the cruise quit working in it

Gas gauge jumps up and down. Will read almost empty just after filling up or after only a few miles.

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving approximately 65 mph, the reduce engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and was towed to a local dealer. The technician diagnosed that the fuel pump shattered and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

Traction goes off. Steering wheel locks up and engine shuts off after all the warning lights come on. Your no longer able to pick up speed or steer the truck.

I have a 2012 silverado that had an engine light go on.took to the dealer (carbone chevy, yorkville ny)the problem was an air leak in the fuel system. The fix, replace gas tank and sending unit, $900. I asked about the warranty, and i was told past mileage, i'm at 39000.i didn't believe this could be possible that a 4-year-old truck could rot out so soon that there must be a problem with these tanks.i called gm to ask, and the woman could not have cared less just listen to me complain and said she would call the customer experience person at the dealership to contact me.that didn't happen. Also said that the corrosion warranty doesn't cover tanks and it's up to me to pay for this. I spent $36000 on this truck and didn't have a scratch on it but now find out it is rotting through like a tin can.my questions are; should this have been covered or recalled? is there anything you can do to help?

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated and reduced engine power message displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle decelerated independently to 30 mph and failed to exceed 30 mph. The contact stated that the brakes malfunctioned while attempting to pull over. The vehicle was turned off and restarted. The engine revved up and lunged forward when the vehicle was shifted to drive. The vehicle was slowly driven to the residence. The contact stated that the failure may be related to the throttle position sensor or the accelerator pedal sensor. The dealer steve smith country (6372 w sunset springdale, ar 72762, (479)361-4654 stated that the vin was not under recall but acknowledged other models had the same issue. The manufacturer had not been contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 84,000.

Transmission---truck has never been abused. Will not go forward went put into drive. Has fluid. Will go into reverse. Pulled out of drive-way to go to the store . Went to a stop sign and it would not move . Had to push it back home. The consumer stated the transmission needed to be replaced.

I fought gm on this for 7 months. And did so 30 days from my purchase date. When i slow down my truck makes a horrible clunking noise. And will rev up in a sense and push you forward. Most of the time it's only probably a food but other times i has caused me to go through stop signs. Luckily no one is there but i fear that when i have my fiance and 3 kids in the truck i may get pushed forward and t boned. Or i maygo into someone in front of me. Or into a fence. And they say it's normal every time. But it's getting worseand my thing is is if it's normal.. Then it's a serious issue. I have read reviews about other people having the same issue. This should be recalled. It's not safe and definitely not practical. They say it has something to do with my 6 speed.but i fought gm and he place i bought it from for months and months. Starting from repairs on my truck that was promised to be fixed to this transmission issue and them claiming they fixed it with some sensor. Then lying saying they never fixed anything when gm questioned them. Luckily i had someone that worked there that felt bad for me so he gave me all the info i needed. All in all gm ended up giving me a bumper to bumper gm warranty for 4yrs. For a problem they claim was normal. That's generous of them. But it's getting worse and i'm scared for my families safety.

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was returned to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the accelerator pedal position sensor was defective and needed to be replaced; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the power train control module was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. 12/15/2020 - noticed 'service air bag' warning in morning as i pulled into parking for work.when leaving for lunch no warning on - as i pulled out of parking warning appeared again - as i leaned forward to read - loud 'bang' and was pulled back into seat by hard retraction of seatbelt.followed by smell of burning. Parked car, struggled to get out of seatbelt - looked around for damage - nothing - only seatbelts stuck retracted.drove home carefully - plugged in obd 2 reader - four codes; b0015-04, b0022-00, b0052-04, b101d-00. First two indicate seat belt pretensioner deployed, third is deployment command, final is ecu hardware.took to ase shop and was informed that the control unit indicated a collision - there was no collision - and belts were deployed. Asked what caused this and response was computer error....i am just thankful i was moving at 5 mph vice 65 on the highway.gonna cost $2500 to fix replacing seatbelts and srs control unit, and a few day to get over a bruised shoulder

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. While the vehicle was idling at a traffic light, the seat belt pretensioner deployed without warning. After the failure occurred, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to lafontaine chevrolet (7120 dexter ann arbor rd, dexter, mi 48130,(734) 680-8850) where the contact was informed that moisture may have caused the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

The silverado dash melts and cracks. On their site there is a statement that the cracks can break loose and cause injuries but the recall was discontinued. The passenger seat leaks fuel and they refused to correct that. Vehicles are very noisy, we have to talk loud or turn the radio up to hear. I motion and stationary. Purchased new in2012. These are known issues and the dealer and the company's headquarters stated they are known issues but there are not any recalls and would not replace or give any discount in fixing the defects. I have talked to the headquarters down to the local dealers and no resolution.

The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 125,600. Consumer stated vehicle did not pass safety inspection test.

While driving slowly then acceleration, abs & traction control warning came on dashboard.

Gm is recalling chevrolet trucks because of braking problems. But, their stating it does not effect early models. I'm telling you their wrong because my 2012 silverado has the same braking problem, you have to sometimes stand on the brake pedal to stop before hitting another vehicle in the back.

Abs traction control & stability track lights up on my dash. Why isn't there a recall on this & possibly safety issue.i have 30,000 miles on my truck.

Rear wheels lock up when down shiftingwhen driving speeds of 40 mph or more

Electric power steering motor failed while driving. The failure happened at such a time that it did not cause loss of control or a collision. The repair has yet to be completed at a local gm dealer due to awaiting parts. The failure of the electric power steering motor while driving the vehicle poses a massive safety risk to occupants of the vehicle and others due to there not being an apparent fail safe when the part failed, the steering wheel was completely locked in position and was not able to be turned. The local gm dealer reproduced the problem and diagnosed the electric power steering motor as the culprit and determined that the entire steering rack must be replaced due to the electric motor being a non-serviceable part. To my knowledge the defective part is still in the vehicle awaiting replacement at the dealer. There were no warning signs of a steering problem prior to the steering wheel being unusable and the dash displaying ā€œservice power steeringā€¯ message.

Usually in the mornings but also other times when i start my truck up. The steering stabilizer and stability act lights come on. Sometimes it turns off and other times it stays on. I see that the 2015 chevy silverado has a recall on this same issue but mine is a 2012. Thank you

Started leaking fluid under the front of truck mechanic checked it out and fluid was coming out of steering filling boot full of fluid seal gave out rapid steering shock at 46,000 miles on truck no warranty.

Dash is cracking.

My 2012 chevy silverado has started cracking on the passenger side nearby the air bag area. The car was parked in my parking lot when i realized this cracking issue started. I am just worried that it will crack more and be a safety issue in the future.

In february 2020 the exterior door handle on the front driver side door broke and had to be replaced at a cost to me of $163.73. Now the exterior handle on the front passenger door is broken and has to be replaced. In both cases the handle became detached on the inside of the door frame.

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact noticed that the dashboard was cracked upon entering her vehicle. The contact stated that the crack started from the left corner of the passenger air bag and extended to the edge of the passenger side defroster vent. The contact estimated that the crack reached approximately one and a half inches. The contact spoke with coast auto center inc (530 chetco ave, brookings, or 97415, 541-469-5321) and was informed that they were familiar with the defect and stated that there was a class action lawsuit filed against gmc regarding several other gmc vehicles. There was a potential that the cracks could cause potential safety hazards. The dealer did not assist. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,696.

Dash is cracked at the upper left corner of the passenger air bag and on top of dash. I'm concerned that air bag deployment may be affected. Also, pieces of the dash may become air born in the event of an air bag deployment.

Exterior door handles are cheap plastic, safety concern because will be unable to open door in emergency.

The dashboard cracked around the air bag on the passenger side and behind the steering while. I'm guessing it happened over night i dont know exactly. One morning i got in my truck noticed the crack around airbag and weeks later the one behind the steering wheel.

Dash is cracked in many places. Vehicle has 113k miles was bought that way in may of 17 with dash cracked at 104k miles

The dashboard on my 2012 chevy silverado 1500 is cracked in two places. The crack next to the passenger side airbag has been there since i bought the vehicle but the crack in the middle of the dashboard just appeared from normal city street and highway driving. I am concerned it could be a problem if i am involved in an accident.

Dash pad has cracks in it. If air bags were to be deployed pieces of dash could become projectiles. Don't know when it cracked. I noticed it when i was walking around to the passenger side. My truck sits in a garage. It only has 60000 miles on it and i bought it new in 2011.

Dash cracked to front airbag

I bought my 2012 chevrolet silverado texas edition on, may 26, 2012, from classic chevrolet of grapevine, texas.i paid $31,622.80 for the truck.i feel that a new vehicle sold in america should have an implied warranty attached to it that goes above and beyond express warranties when it comes to the vehicle's safety.after two years as an owner of this vehicle i noticed a stain on my rear carpet.the more i rubbed it the more it spread.i figured that one of my grand children probably spilled something and so i just decided to try to live with it.in late 2019 i noticed that my carpet behind my driver's seat was wet after a heavy rain. So i towel dried it and took a paper receipt from my console and attempted to adjust the header pressure on the rear door by striking the rocker panel striker.this year i took a trip to kansas city, missouri in february.i found myself having to drive under rainy, misting, windshield, freezing and fogging, up.my defroster was no match for it because it never was able to clear my windshield sufficiently. On the way back to texas i left k.c. At 4:00 am. The hazardous weather was still persisting.my blood pressure and heartbeatraced a few times when i tried to move ahead of trucks to avoid the splashing from their wake. In june i discovered pooling of water behind my driver's seat. It was so ridiculous i had to take it to classic.after 3 hours in the service department the service manager returned to me and escorted me to the technician.the tech showed me that the water was coming from an unsealed overlap at my firewall.he explained that the leak's been going on for some time.this area at the top of your fender is where the water is entering and it fills up an area inside your finder and then it leaks through your firewall and runs down your rocker and settles at the back seat well. That report cost me $145.00.*dt

Severely cracked dash.could shatter in a crash and send shrouds of plastic through out the passenger compartment.

Dashboard on passengers side has two cracks above the airbag.

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the driver's side rocker panel was corroded and rusted through. The contact called friendly chevrolet (7501 hwy 65 ne, fridley, mn 55432, (612)276-2955) who stated that the failure was a manufacturer defect and that the rocker panel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 94,000.

Dash board is cracking, without incident, in several locations, decreasing value and presenting safety hazard if airbag deploys or if collision causes it to splinter into the passenger compartment.

Dashboard severly cracked gm will not fix

My vehicle is just over three years old, just out of the warranty and only has 26,500 miles. The dashboard on the drivers side is cracked, even though the windows are tinted and i have used a sun shield at all times since the date of purchase. This i consider a hazard as it is directly where all major components of the vehicle are located including airbags and such. I was told it would cost me 1300 plus labor as it is out of warranty. This is unacceptable to me as i believe this can be a huge safety issue. I noticed the crack when i walked past the vehicle parked in my driveway.

The contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that after the dealer performed the nhtsa campaign number: 21v051000 (air bag) recall repair, the dashboard was cracked on the corner of the passengerā€™s side air bag compartment. The contact was concerned that the air bag might deploy due to the crack. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that he was responsible for the cost to replace the dashboard. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that due to the age and mileage of the vehicle; the manufacturer was not responsible for the damage to the dashboard. The contact had also signed a waiver prior to the recall repair. The failure mileage was 101,194.

The steel in the rear leaf springs suddenly broke in half (under no load).it happened twice - in the left rear leaf springs in ~2016 (~3 years of age), and again in the right rear leaf springs last week (2018).this is not even a mechanical device - just a passive heavy gauge piece of steel.the vehicle is very light use, and in both cases there was no payload in the flatbed.gm appears to be using a substandard grade of steel in critical areas of the vehicle.the rear of the vehicle dropped when the springs broke, and i consider this a safety problem if driving at high speed.in addition, the steel rod that connects the inner driver door handle to the door lock, also snapped (so you can not exit the vehicle from inside controls).it appears that gm is using a cheap substandard grade of steel in their vehicles. Estimated date of first event below.

The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v017000 (tires); however, the parts to the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall remedy. The contact took the tires to the local harbor freight store and was informed that the replacement tires were not available. The manufacturer was not notified.

Cracked dashboard around passanger air bag

There has been various occasions where we are driving and the truck stops with no warning or reason, the first time was on i-95 highway in philadelphia mid traffic the truck turned off and would not restart for about 5minutes we weee stuck in the middle of the road blocking traffic, no check engine light or any warning light came on. The second time was just this week on the way to two different mechanics to get the computer read it turned off yet again in the middle of the road. Both mechanics said nothing can up on the scanner when connected and there were no check engine lights turned on.

Dashboard cracked at passenger airbag area when truck had less than 25,000. Chevrolet replaced it under warranty. At about 100,000 the dashboard cracked in the same exact location. Concerned that because of the location of the crack it may effect the passenger airbag. Everyone i know with this truck in the 2011 - 2012 models has the same exact crack in the same exact location.

4.3l v6 wt 2012 chevy 1500 4wdvehicle drives fine, good temperatures and then without warning the vehicle shows a warning message that the engine is too hot and that the a/c was forced off by the trucks computer system and sends the temp gauge to 160 and will not move. Problem appears to be a manufacturer installed thermostat that if not dealt with immediately send the cooling fans and radiator fan(s)(as mine has a oem from the dealer auxillary transmission cooler at full speeds. The risk of this issue can cause damage to the truck and needs to be looked into as it can cause the fans and coolant to cause damage to the vehicles and also not let an accurate readout of engine temps to let them know of actual issues present. Code is code p01028 that gets stored but the issue is in the thermostats that the threshold for an engine that doesn't reach it's cutoff value shuts it down.

I heard a vibration noise coming from my dashboard for of my instrument panel. Further investigation revealed that the dashboard was cracking from the forward end running aft toward the steering wheel. I research this problem on the internet and learned this may be a safety concern if the air bag is inflated. I heard the vibration while driving. When i stopped i noticed the cracking problem.

Cracks in dash around passenger side airbag.concern is that if airbag deploys that the dash components around the airbag will become dangerous projectiles.

Went out to my truck this morning and low and behold, there was a 4" crack in the dash that was not there last night. It starts at the left front corner of the airbag and goes toward the windshield. There is a small piece of black plastic sticking out of the crack. Now i wonder if someone touches it, the air bag will inflate. Is this safe or not?

Dash cracked above the instrument panel and left corner of the passenger airbag. Vehicle was stationary and when i came out i noticed the crack in the dash.

Cracked dashboard at passenger airbag causing a potential airbag deployment issue. I noticed this while cleaning said dashboard. No items were ever stored on the dashboard. Dealership quotes $1250 to repair same.

Dash board cracks have occurred at approximately 75k miles at the corner of passenger airbag and over instrument cluster.these are fairly common for a multi-year group of gm vehicles and was involved in a now dismissed class action suit. It may/may not eventually affect the instrument cluster, and may/may not affect passenger airbag deployment.it may/may not result in further injury if dash comes apart in accident.cost to replace at local dealer is approximately $800 for parts and labor.not covered by original manufacturer warranty due to mileage or comprehensive extended warranty currently in force.planning to replace but not happy about it.gm should have recalled or offer to at least split costs.

Cracked dash above instrument cluster and at it bag. Started at 48000 miles. If in a wreck and air bag deploys shards of dash can fly through the air. Things can get down in instrument cluster and cause a short which can lead to a fire. Vehicle can be sitting in a heated garage and it keeps getting worse

My 2012 chevrolet silvado has a crack around the airbag.there has been no wreck just happen. It also has a crack on the other side of the dash.

I went out to my truck on 10/15/2016 to notice a crack in my dashboard between the airbag and the vent.since then i have made several calls to starting with the dealership i bought my truck from.i explained to them what was going on to only be told there was nothing they can do under the factory warranty.i can however pay out of my pocket for a new dashboard installed.now i find this aggravating as this is not something i did nor was the vehicle involved in an accident.it has simply been sitting in my driveway!!!i then called a body shop to see if there was anything they can do, it was then i was informed that this is a common issue for chevy and that this crack will continue to spider out and eventually spread!!!!!they can fix it but unless i replace the whole dashboard they will not warranty it!!!! but again i would have to pay for this out of my pocket.i then researched online to see if exactly how many cases there are out there involving dashboard cracks, come to find out there was a lawsuit against chevy for this exact reason.if chevy has this many complaints and is aware of the dashboard cracking why aren't they trying to fix the problem and offer a resolution!this concerns me as this is near the airbag, could this cause harm to the driver or the passengers if the airbag were to deploy???????????

No part available for the climate control, with a mail in procedure and a 30 day turn around time. This creates a visibility hazard while driving. Inability to control the heat during colder climate while creating foggy windows and trying to travel. This is a safety hazard for the driver as well as the public! i cannot take the part out for a month because i have no idea what the weather will be like 10 minutes from now and if i did would be without for 30 days and not have the ability to clear a foggy windshield!

My dash board is cracked in serval places !!

Dash is cracked with sharp edges close to the defroster vents and next to the passenger side air bag. Cracked on its own, no accident. Truck is very well taken care of.

My 2012 1500 silverado's, dashhas cracked on both the driver and passenger side, purchased late 2012 only 40 k miles, no accidents or reasons for cracks other than faulty material use for dash.

Our dashboard cracked at the top left side of the passenger airbag. It is a real safety concern for us. We were driving down the interstate. We have never used armor all on the dashboard.

Dash is cracked at the upper left corner of the passenger air bag. I'm concerned that air bag deployment may be affected. Also, pieces of the dash may become air born in the event of an air bag deployment.

Dash has cracked in multiple places around air bags

Dashboard crack above passenger airbag.

I have a crack in my dashboard just above the airbag. This is not due to heat or sun this happened during the winter in alaska

The dash have three cracks in it even though i keep it covered. I see that there are several complaints about the same situation and yet chevrolet and or the dealers refuse to replace it. I was told it would cost between $200.00 to $250.00 to replace it. Chevrolet know of this and yet do not want to take responsibility. Even the dealer stated the this is a defect.

My dash started a small crack by the passenger airbag. It's a very common issue between 07-13 gm trucks and suvs. They seem to randomly crack i had mine crack overnight. It makes a horrible vibration sound while driving it's kind off annoying to drive now.

Woke up this morning, got in my 2012 silverado, and noticed a very large crack in the dash over the instrument cluster. After a quick search, i can see this is a very frequent problem.

Tire mounted under vehicle is not same size as tires in use, safety question.

The dashboard cracked right near airbag on passenger side. I do not use any type of cleaner to make it crack and i also use a visor to cover wind shield. I had this truck for a year and couple months.every person that i speak with had same problem. And the same spot. I was literally just on my way to dad's house with a birthday cake and i heard a noise so when i got to my destination i looked and didn't notice anything so my boyfriend looked and saw the crack.

Cracks on the dash board around airbag and also in front of the steer wheel on the top and bottom of dash.

Dash is cracking.

Dash started with 2 initial cracks one at the passenger air bag and the other at the base of the driver side instrument panel closer to the window. As time went on the crack of the driver side progressively got worse to the point now it has traveled to end of the panel above the steering wheel and another crack has developed now at the other end of the air bag.

Rear wheels lock up when down shiftingwhen driving speeds of 40 mph or more
