Shortly after purchasing my 2010 silverado a small crack appeared on the dash by the corner of the passenger air bag. A month or so later another crack developed above the instrument cluster that is now (years later) a foot in length. There is a 3rd crack developing. I have 3 friends with similar trucks and these cracks occurred in the identical spot on their dashs. It has to be a risk to the airbag, or in any front impact. These cracks are sharp and right in the driver and passengers face. After searching online i have discovered it is a widespread issue.

Please note my vehicle was not in an accident. I received an airbag recall notice via the mail this past summer and i checked to see whether or not my vehicle qualifies for this recall via the airbagrecall.com website and it does. I contacted my local chevrolet dealer a few times since receiving this notice this past summer, but each time they have informed me that i will receive a second letter notifying me of when the parts will be available. My concern is the www.airbagrecall.com website states this needs to be taken care of by november 1, 2018 in order for my vehicle to qualify for this airbag replacement. Please direct me on next step information along with timing for when this replacement can be made.

Takatarecall. Received notice is from july 2016. Local chevy dealer has not fix it.have take it twice.

I have not gotten the recall on the airbag fixed as of this date. Dealer says there is no fix for it.as for the stability control and traction control, i was driving the truck on a local street when the rear wheels locked up. Luckily i was only doing about 30 when this happened. I took it to the dealer figuring it was a recall seeing as i feel it is a safety issue. I was charged $654.00 to repair it. I am thankful i was on a local street, i can only imaging what might have happened if i had been on the interstate doing 70. I see where many others have reported the same problem and i feel i was charged when this is a safty issue the chevrolet should repair at their expense.

Cracks have formed along the dash board on both the driver and passenger side without any sort of event happening that would lead the cracks forming such as an accident, etc. The cracks on the passenger side are around the passenger airbag that seems to be an safety issues if the airbag deploys. The cracks lead to sharp edges that could either break off and cause sharp plastic pieces to fly at the passenger in the event of airbag deployment or the sharp edges may puncture the airbag causing it to not perform as needed to protect the passenger. After talking to the chevrolet body shop and reading several other complaints, this issue is common not only in the silverado but according to the body shop manager, it stretches across all gm platforms such as the escalade.

After talking to gm i am worried about driving my truck. They told me that i have bad air bags but they are not going to do anything about fixing it. This is wrong to let this to go on and nothing is being done about this unsafe problem. I am going to have my air bags unhooked so i feel driving my truck againi do not want to get hurt my an unsafe airbag. I am mad that the nstsa is not making my truck to be fixed by gm. Gm put the airbags in they should take them out and replace them with safe airbags. Something has to done to make this unsafe airbag address and stop people from getting hurt. I am very upset about this. I got a card in the mail about my unsafe airbags in my truck but nothing is being done about it. Make gm fix this unsafe problem

Started getting an "service srs system" dic notification and srs. I was able to narrow down the cause to opening the drivers side front door. Used a scan tool to read the codes and it was throwing code b0085 symptom 00 which is a side impact sensor. Replaced side impact sensor and issues persist with the same symptoms. I was directed by a few mechanics that chevrolet had changed the gauge of the wires and they have seen multiple failures within the shielding which does not have any signs of wear. Using an ohm meter i tested out the sensor wires and sure enough when the door is closed the wire has contact however if it moves at all it breaks creating an open loop. I have looked over every inch of the harness and there is zero signs of wear on the protective cover, tape, or even the wire insulator itself.

About two years into owning this truck, (purchased brand new from dealer), the dashboard cracked at the corner of the passenger side airbag. There was no incident which caused the dashboard to crack. Nothing hit it, no accident, etc. This is a potential hazard and it seems to be a recurring problem for many chevrolet owners. I took it in to the dealer and they said it wasn't covered by any warranty. How is it okay for gm to know about a defect with many of their vehicles and not have to assume responsibility for fixing it??

The vehicle was parked under a tree during the day while i went to work. The tree blocked the sunlight but the truck was still quite hot due to the black interior and hot temperatures. After work, i noticed that there was a crack in the dash that went from the airbag to the middle seam. This, along with another crack that was new, makes the dash flimsy and you can see it vibrate when driving down the road. I believe that if the airbags were to go off, pieces of plastic from the dash would break off and become a safety hazard, the truck is in excellent condition and has been properly maintained.

There has been no incident to report, yet i am forced to continue driving a vehicle with a recall which cannot be remedied. I have been made aware that this is an imminent danger to my safety should there be an activation of the airbag component. I purchased the vehicle used and was assured that the remedy was available. This is a risk to my safety and i cannot afford to let this vehicle sit idle while paying for another vehicle for daily use. Please advise.david j. Hetherington

Takata recallthis fromsafercar.gov:if the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner, please contact the nhtsa vehicle safety hotline at: 1-888-327-4236 or tty: 1-800-424-9153 or file an online complaint with nhtsa.i would like to complain that this issue has not been resolved.there has to be some solution that will help the owners of these vehicles instead of, let's see what happens to you and your loved ones.i would rather have no airbag than one with the probably of killing the people in the front seats, according to the warnings put out on these airbags.deactivation of the airbag would be a better solution than doing nothing.where is the common sense in this situation?if you or someone you love were behind the wheel of one of these vehicles, wouldn't you want someone to do something instead of taking the chance of getting murdered by something that is supposed to help save your life?

While on my way to the cancer centers of america located in atlanta, i noticed the oil gauge needle kept moving below the middle, when i returned home took to chevy dealership that changed sensor and gasket kit.still having problem with vehicle.chevy dealer stated that, that's what the needle does...i've had the oil changed and still same problem.....i also noticed that when you turn on the 4x4 button it doesn't show the 4x4 emblem on the dash board.....also addressed with dealer they said it doesn't show on dash board...another problem that just happened is that it's stating to service air bag...i own a chevy trail blazer 2004 and have never had these problems not with oil gauges, seat belt sensors nor 4x4 emblems on the dash.....my husband and i bought the vehicle on nov 2014 with 96,000 miles on it the chevy dealer here says that these are normal....i feel that these are not normal, because you don't know if you have oil in the truck, the air bag is faulty and can't tell if your driving on 4x4....please check into these things....i appreciate your attention.

Both side air bags deployed without an impact or accident while driving down the highway. Gm has been no help in the matter, and cannot find an explanation as to why the airbags would deploy.

At the top left corner of the passenger side air bag there is a crack in the dash board. I am concerned that in the case of the airbag deploying it will send hard plastic across the entire cab, or that the air bag may be prematurely deployed due to lack of support.

I have cracks on my passenger side airbag, and over my instrument cluster.this is a well known issue, and i'm sure that if my airbag went off, the plastic would become shrapnel.

The plastic dash panel has developed cracks over time but recently the cracks have started to develop around the passengers side front air bag. I am concerned that the continued cracking and subsequent uneven nature of the air bag surround could cause issues with air bag deployment and or that the sharp edges of the plastic could puncture or cut the air bag itself causing the safety of my passenger to be compromised.

At original notice over a year, dealer states no repair parts???passenger side airbag recall, waiting on co-operation and parts from any dealer chevrolet

I notified parks chevrolet of the recall and they said they did have the bags on order and cannot make the replacements yet and will notify us when they come in.

I took my truck in because the a/c on the drivers side wasn't cooling properly. I was told it was $1000 to replace an actuator. I declined. I came back from dealership with a cracked dash around the passenger air bag. Apparently this and the faulty air bag are well known issues. So because gm doesn't have the part, i can't get my airbag fixed and the cracked dash make my vehicle less safe.

After 3 1/2 years of recall, nothing has been done to this vehicle due to chevrolet saying "later" you will be notified.i feel this amount of time is neglect.

Takata recall: upon receipt of the recall notice, i have been contacting gm about this. The standard answer i have been given each time is that a 'repair is not yet available' along with 'lack of available replacement parts'. Now the call center told me that they are replacing the airbags but due to the number of affected vehicles that it is going to take a very long time and i cannot just go to my local dealership for the repair and that i must wait for the letter to come in the mail to get the airbags replaced. I plan to call my local dealership to see if they have a different perspective. If the vin shows needing replacement, one should be able to the dealership for immediate replacement of a potentially life threatening device. There nhtsa shouldn't allow any "petition of inconsequentiality" when it comes to life saving decisions, tell the oem to replace 100%, no exceptions.

Entire vehicle shut off as if the key were turned off , this has happened 14 times in thirty months all at various speeds on various highways and at various times of day. You thus loose engine, power steering and power brakes.

When driving the truck will shutter and eventually stall. This happens when driving at all speeds, even when sitting idle. The dealer tells me there was an extended warranty on this part but i was not notified. I feel this is a safety concern and should be replaced regardless of milage.

Driving to dallas texas and freeway 40 east bound about 3:00 am or abit after 3:00 am it began to smell burnt and after that we began to see black smoke in the from of the engine straight from where i drive we traveled about 70-75 miles/ per hour when we tried to stop the truck the lights and locks inside started acting crazy and also the alarm was crazy at the moment we were scared for our lives because we could not stop the truck.

Driving approx 55mph down a highway when vehicle suddenly slowed to 30 mph and several messages came to dash (engine power reduced, traction control off and service stabilitrack). Due to sudden drop in speed, i was involved in a near miss accident from a following vehicle i took the vehicle to be serviced at the chevrolet dealership and they replaced the throttle body sensor. Due to a previously identified deficiency with the throttle body (identified by chevy) there was no charge for replacement after picking the vehicle up from the dealership and driving the vehicle 5 miles, the vehicle suddenly slowed and the messages reappeared. The vehicle was taken into the dealership and the pedal accelerator sensor was replaced.the mechanic explained to that the throttle body sensor was identified to be a problem by chevy. He also explained that the throttle body sensor and the accelerator pedal sensor work in conjunction and that he frequently sees the accelerator pedal sensor failing to operate as intended, resulting in replacements.however, he explained that chevrolet has not identified the accelerator pedal sensor as a defected part and no recall currently exists even though it is an integral part of the function of the throttle body sensor.i conducted research in general motors forums, etc. And this seems to be a common problem among chevy vehicles. Some individual were traveling at greater speeds with children in vehicles when the vehicle came to an abrupt reduction in speed causing accidents. Problem is that the throttle body sensor is often replaced and the problem will go away for a while, thenwill reoccur due to the failure of the accelerator pedal sensor and the interaction between the two parts the accelerator pedal sensor shall be recalled because of its importance to the function of the throttle body sensor and the history

While driving on highway at 65-70 mph, electrical system shut down the tachometer, speedometer, fuel and all other gauges. Lights and turn signals remained on. Transmission downshifted and would not shift up after a complete stop. Shifting transmission to park, reverse or neutral would not register, but would shift.service engine, abs light and stabilitrak off light came on.on a separate occasion message center read service traction control, service stabilitrak on a similar occurrence, while coming to a stop.this has occurred several times. Drove home, without speedometer and miles did not register on odometer.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the engine failed to operate until after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who informed excessive water leaked into the fuse box. In addition, there were several fuses that corroded. The technician replaced the fuse box. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 97,312.

On march 30, 2014, i noticed the right front parking light of my 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500 was illuminated and all the other lights were off. I tried several different things to get the light to turn off and was unsuccessful, so i disconnected the battery until i could have the issue diagnosed. The mechanic identified the problem as a portion of the terminals in the electrical junction block (fuse/relay panel), located in the engine compartment had significant corrosion which caused a short circuit situation. He also noted that there was no corrosion under the junction block where all the wiring harness plug into. He was perplexed because there was no signs of water or chemical damage to the junction block and also the age of the truck and low mileage.he further stated even with the ignition switch turned off, the panel was very hot due of the electrical resistance caused by the corrosion which caused a situation for a fire. He added that a local chevrolet dealership had a report of a 2009 chevrolet silverado 1500 that had a engine compartment fire due to a faulty electrical junction block. After conducting search of the internet, this seems to be a problem in 2009-2012 chevrolet silverado's. I am concerned that someone is going to park there truck in there garage and a fire will ensue that will cause injury of death.

While driving the vehicle will alert "stabilitrack off" and then moments later "engine power reduced". You are then forced to immediately pull over and turn off the vehicle for at least 1 minute before turning it back on. This can happen on roads where it is dangerous to pull over putting myself and others at risk for an accident. The transmission has been replaced and no other auto shop has an answer for me as to what is causing the issue. The computer has been reset multiple times and sometimes this will help the issue not happen for a long length of time but the issue always comes back. I have read hundreds of reviews of other owners having the same issue, the conclusion is no one has the same fix and the majority of the time there is no fix.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the service traction control warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact also stated that the doors would lock and unlock independently. The vehicle was taken to reliable chevrolet located at 9901 coors blvd nw, albuquerque, nm 87114, (505) 216-2993, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that ecm module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000. ..updated 09/11/17

Failure of cruise control and trailer braking system while braking. Issue was a break in the wiring harness under the dash causing a short. Broken wire still had insulator in tact as if new. This seems to be an issue due to type or undersized wire as this is the second harness failure on the truck

Entire vehicle shut off as if the key were turned off , this has happenedmany times- i lose power steering, all electrical, steering etc. Very frustrating bc chevy states that there is no recall for 2010 model silverado so i'm expected to pay out of pocket??? this isn't right- i've always been pleased with my chevys but not with this one.

The vehicle is having electrical issues and it effects it by shutting off in the middle of traffic on a highwayit also effects the throttle sensor by accelerating when you come to a stop at a stop light and the transmission jumps a gear when it does that.

Gauges stick 4 wheel drive will not engage intermittently and then will not shut off when engaged intermittently.

Hypothetical situation 1:electrical fire in car, shorts our power to passenger compartment.electric windows won't work, power door locks won't work.on gm vehicles, with power door locks there is no way to escape from the passenger compartment. Outcome: serious injury or death hypothetical situation 2:vehicle submerged in water shorting out power.no way to escape, as electric windows don't work and power locks don't work.outcome: serious injury or deathhypothetical situation 3:sitting in vehicle, hot summer day, fuse blows, electrical short, or battery dies, with windows up, and doors locked, no way to escape short of breaking window, if able.needless to say, gm vehicles with power windows and power door locks have a safety issue.simple solution do as all other auto manufactures do, connect door handles to open door even if locked.

Instrument cluster just went dead.no speed, no tach, no fuel gauge, no engine temp sensor.was towing sa trailer at the time.dealer said they would not cover under warranty because they could not verify mileage due to no power to the instrument cluster.will be calling gm directly.

My husband and i were driving about 45 mph down a steep hill, towing a utility trailer, on sr87 in the mountains when the door locks clicked and the engine turned completely off with no warning. The steering wheel locked up and the brakes did not work. My husband put the car in neutral as it accelerated down a cliff and attempted to restart it with no luck. There were no cars immediately around us so we were able to coast to a stop on a steep incline. When we got out to check it, there was oil all over the wheel wells and still no warning lights had come on. We took it to the dealership and they told us the transmission was completely blown on our 6 year old truck. There was zero explanation as to why this would happen as well as to why we had no warning prior to the engine shutting off. We were told to pay better attention to the temp. Even though it did not overheat. Chevy offered no relief or help. We were quoted a price about $2000 less for the initial transmission repair than it would have cost so we took it to a non-dealership shop to repair. This weekend, the check engine light came on out of nowhere indicating loss of power and the stabilitrack warning came on even thought that was previously repaired by a dealership on a tsb about a year prior to the transmission going out. The code it threw this time was p0305 and we were on very limited power driving back home from a road trip. Could not go more than 40 mph uphill. Extremely concerned for our safety since the vehicle can turn off with no warning. Also, the money spent is ridiculous.

Driving 65 on cruise control when check engine, stability control lights came on.message center said reduced power i got to a small service garage and he told me i should shut it off wait 15 minutes and it will reset and it did.i drove another 80 miles again the same thing happened.the first garage guy told me it was a gm issue and i should go see them they should repair it.he said it was a problem with the throttle body assembly and in the cold it get sluggish and gm should fix it because they had problems with some of them. It happened again 20 miles later.i got back to the gm dealer where i purchased it he confirmed itwas they throttle body assembly but didn't have time to replace it.he offered to clean it (free of charge) and sent me on my way telling me if it happened again i should make an appointment to replace (approx. 400-600 dollars).i done some investigating on this matter and found this was a common issue.i stopped at another gm dealer and explained my problem he confirmed the original theory checked the vin # and told me gm is fixing this problem for 10 years from the original purchase date.i guess i need to stop buying from my original gm dealer where i had purchased my last two vehicles.i have not had a problem with it again but i have only driven 600 miles since then.

Truck purchased by my father in 2010 from chevrolet dealership. I purchased the truck from him in 2016. The truck has under 120,000 miles and due to faulty engine and sensors the vehicle has seized leaving me with thousands in repair and no vehicle. Thr vehicle broke down on me with my children several times losing pwoer, shaking uncontrollably. There was oil and the pressure unit did not read low or shut the truck down.. My truck also has an airbag recall from 2016 that there is no remedy for. I still make payments on this vehicle and it is extremely unsafe costing thousands for repair. Gm should be responsible for faulty vehicles.

The stablicheck light comes on. It get checked out st dealership.. No problems. The lifters failed in 2016.. Why. The truck has been maintained very well. I hear this is known gm problem. Friends have same issues.the truck is always in motion when the issues above start to occur

While driving on a highway stabilitrack turns off then few seconds later traction control turns off then i get either a cylinder misfire or throttle body code. Truck then goes into reduced power mode with rough idle. I can clear the codes with obd reader and it runs fine for a while.

This has happened twice in the last week. Today i was sitting at a stoplight with my foot on the brake and suddenly without warning my 2010 silverado accelerated and lunged forward about 3 feet. Fortunately there was not a car or person in front of me or i surely would have had an accident then the engine started missing. At the same time my check engine light came on. Service traction control, service stabiltrak, engine power reduced flashed on my dash. I limped home at 10-15 mph max! after about an hour i started it and it ran just fine "both times". The first time this happened i was in a parking lot with the transmission in park.it is now at my local chevrolet dealer for repair.

" takara recall ". While drive truck, stabikitrak light comes on stating that stabikitrak is off. Light then turns off. Other issue stabikitrak light comes on stating stabikitrak off, traction control off reduce engine power. Dash stats stabikitrak needs service, traction control needs service engine still in limp mode.pull truck onto the shoulder or someone's driveway to turn truck off. Truck off for 15 seconds to 1 minutes.restart the truck and drives just fine. Took it to shop. Items that has been replaced and still didn't fix the problem throttle body, throttle body sensor, map sensor, mass sensor, abs module, tried to put a new ecu on it didn't work so put old on back on. Changed out front wheel hubs assembly and still didn't fix the problem. The vehicle is i'm motion driving down the road on normal to wet to cold to warm. All this is happening in both city, highway and turning. Its causing a safety issue due to the truck going into limp mode and having to pull it off the shoulder or someone's driveway.

I was riding at about 25 mph engine reduce power light came on, engine had no power to pull. Engine stabilizer control light came on. This is about the third time this has happen. The first time it happen the vehicle had less than a 115,000 miles on it. The second time it happen i call the dealer they replaced a sensor on the throttle body. They told me if it didn't work that i would have to replace the throttle body out of my own pocket.now it is doing it again. I think it something wrong with the throttle body system from the manufacturer. If this happens on a major highway it could cause injury or a fatality.

Driving down highway the service stailbitrack control comes on with reduce engine power.the truck hesitates and can not get up to speed. I travel the highway everyday and this isa very serious problem.

Body control modulator went out and i was driving with break lights on which is hard to tell until i figured out my cruise control wasn't working. Dangerous!also, throttle body position sensor went out and shut my engine down to low power mode while i was driving on the highway. Also very dangerous!!also realized this was a common problem among many people online.

I bought a 2010 chevy silverado 1500 z 71 4 x 4 from eight graph in davison and it had multiple misfires i put new spark plugs wires coils and fuel injectors and now it's miss firing and cylinder six and i put another set of spark plugs wires and coil's on it and it still misfire and cylinder six i'm trying to see if it something the manufacture

I own a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving approximately 68 mph on the highway, the check engine warning indicator illuminated, service stabiltrack and reduced engine power warning all came on at once causing the truck to reduce speed quickly and dangerously on the highway.i was almost rear ended as the my speed went from 68 mph to less than 30 mph in an instant.thankfully the gentleman was able to slow in time- through on his hazards and help escort me to the emergency shoulder.my truck has approximately 67,000 mile on it and this problem has now happened 5 times at various speeds.i have researched this matter and this is know issue and is all over the gm forums with multiple models.each fix reported comes after customers have spent hundreds of dollars for the dealers to locate the issues.gm/chevy are aware of this issue and yet there is nothing about a recall for this issue even though it is caused from a known defective part and causes a dangerous driving situation!

While driving down the hwy my vehicle all of a sudden started dinging at me and shifting hard.i noticed that the service stabilitrak and service traction control lights were on.they stayed on for about 5 min and then went away and everything seemed fine.about 5 min later the same thing happen with the warning lights and the vehicle started shifting very hard again only this time it caused my doors to lock and unlock on there own.at this point i pulled over and called my husband.he told me to shut the truck off and restart it, so i did.everything was fine when i got home but the next day it began doing it all over again while driving in town.we took it to a mechanic and they changed the spark plugs and everything seemed great for about a month but now it is back to doing it again.i researched online to see if i could find out what was going on and noticed many other people having the same issues.just trying to get to the bottom of why this is going on and the gm dealer is not much help as they give a new reason each time you take it in to get checked.

Takata recalled

This makes the 3rd time it's been in the shop this month for the same than the check engine light ,track control, stayble control engine reduce power.

Three different times the truck throtle stuck to the floor only way to correct it was to turn the key off then the gas petal would release. Would haft to pull off road then restart the truck. The truck was on hwy, eather passing or pulling on the interstate.

5.3l engine oil consumption. Engine consumes 3 to 4 qts of oil between oil changes and fouls #7 spark plug causing extreme loss of power. Oil consumption is getting progressively worse. Dealer claims it is a known problem, but my vin is not included in warranty extension.

The code it threw this time was p0305 and we were on very limited power driving back home from a road trip. Could not go more than 40 mph uphill. Extremely concerned for our safety since the vehicle can turn off with no warning. Also, the money spent is ridiculous.

Engine started ticking noise during winter 2020 at aboutkm 83000. I changed engine oil. During winter no noise at start up, once the operating temp reaches 100 * f. Ticking noise starts. I took it to dealer, told me lifters, gave me quote for camshaft & lifters, very expensive. I hear these engines are known for hydraulic lifter problems. I just parked the truck as winter snow & cold.out of warranty. My mileage is low.i contacted gmcanada, they refer me back to dealer. Then another dealer told me get ac delco engine oil supplement, gm product. I used this, no improvement, more noise, got worse. I parked the truck during winter. Please look in to this. Engine noise at around km 83000 ?i change engine oil & filter regularly. Quaker state synthetic engine oil, i live in canada. I have family in usa.

Entire vehicle shut off as if the key were turned off , this has happened 14 times in thirty months all at various speeds on various highways and at various times of day. You thus loose engine, power steering and power brakes.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that engine pressure sensor slave switch failed three times. A dealer was not contacted. The failure recurred two additional times with the check engine warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure however, referred the contact to the nhtsa to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I was over looking my truck checking the belts, hoses and fluids. I found a broken exhaust manifold bolt on the back driver side. I tried calling the dealership i left a voicemail but no call back as of yet. I am finding out that gm will not recall the common breaking problem with these bolts. These bolts that are breaking are causing the check engine light to come on and also could cause a fire. There are a lot of other things i am finding out that are happening to vehicles/engines due to these bolts breaking.i was told to file a complaint with you to help get the problem fixed. I hope to hear back form you in some way.

Bought the truck in april, 2016 and now have a constant knock from engine.i was told it is probably the lifters.i did research to find many others having issues with lifters on vehicles that have the afm/dod which controls fuel and cylinder use when at steady highway speeds.i travel by highway to and from work. I still owe $17,000 on this truck. It is my only means of transportation.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated that the malfunction was a common issue and replaced the emissions canister filter kit and harness. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 43,713.

Excessive oil consumption caused spark plugs to prematurely fail causing the engine to misfire and run rough. Spark plugs from cylinders #1 and #7 were found oil fouled and/or cracked. Per service bulletins issued by general motors, the dealership replaced the spark plugs and made various other repairs related to the oil consumption problems caused by the active fuel management system. Initial repairs did not correct the oil consumption problem (1/2 quart burned in approximately 1,000 - 2,000 miles) and oil was visible on the new spark plugs within 1,000 miles of afm repair work. I was told this was "normal" according to general motor's standards. The dealership/gm customer service agreed to make additional repairs to replace the trucks pistons and rings to see if that would correct the oil consumption problem but no definite or long-term solution has been indicated to correct the source of the afm/oil consumption issue. The success of the most recent repairs is pending.

Bought 2010 silverado thought my warranty would cover it only had vehicle for one year and now it needs new motor which is the piston rings causing this to go bad and i have vehicle i'm still paying for but cant use it i bought it used from a dealer but now i need a new motor and apparently there is other people out there with the 5.3 motors that are having the same problem with there engines failing prematurely because of the piston rings failing and i got it diagnosed and have paper work saying i need complete engine rebuild or engine replacement and my warranty company wont cover it because of carbon being build up inside of motor

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving approximately 60 mph, an audible chime activated and the "shut vehicle off low oil pressure" message displayed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the oil sensor was faulty. The oil sensor was replaced, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

My wife noticed a noise while riding with me and i determined that it was the air conditioners compressor motor.within a few days the motor failed.it is out of warranty and they want $1000.00 to fix it at the dealership. I priced an independent shop and it was over $800. This should not fail at 55,000 miles as over 3/4 of those were driven when no air conditioner was used.it's sad that you pay $40k+ for a vehicle and the main systems fail before the loan is even paid off. I guess it's back to rolling down the windows as $1000 to fix it is not within my budget.

When you are going about forty miles per hour, there is some vibration under the truck. I took it to the dealer they said it was from the cold in the morning. Happens all the time. If you goggle the problem, it has other people discussing the matter. Wish had know about this site before. Thank you

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. While traveling 15-20 mph the contact noticed that the vehicle had suddenly began to accelerate without a warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealership where the contact was informed that the solenoid needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 6300.

2010 silverado k1500, 4.3 l v-6, long bed, standard cab. From new the exhaust rattles/vibration at cruise 1300 to 1500 rpm. Does not do this at any other rpm only the range stated. On shut down backfire pop out the exhaust tail pipe. Vehicle has 3100 miles on it now. No other issues noted.

When the air temp starts to drop to about 35 degrees the truck automatically turns off the air conditioner compressor and if there is any moisture on the coil it is then blown into the cab of the truck and severely fogs up the inside windows making it impossible to see out. Had to pull over and keep windows down until the moisture evaporated. (shower effect on mirror).

2010 chevrolet 1500 silverado. Consumer statesa defect in regards to oversized off road tires *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle did not come equipped with mud flaps to prevent the oversized tires from throwing debris, stones and glass etc. Toward the body of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. While inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the third brake light was shifting out of place. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer diagnosed that the interior of the third brake light housing was corroded with rust and, in due time, the light would fall out or cause a fire hazard. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 92,450.

Failure of cruise control and trailer braking system while braking. Issue was a break in the wiring harness under the dash causing a short. Broken wire still had insulator in tact as if new. This seems to be an issue due to type or undersized wire as this is the second harness failure on the truck

Right front light keeps going out no matter how many times i replace it

Gauges stick 4 wheel drive will not engage intermittently and then will not shut off when engaged intermittently.

I have collapsed lifters on my engine due to the afm system.it appears that even after replacing the collapsed lifter then you will have to replace one after another unless you perform an afm delete on your computer.this has cost me thousands of dollars and due to the stress of the shifting what occurs when stuck in 4cyl mode i have had to replace my transmission as well.

Noticed smell of gasoline- progressively became stronger. Noted gasoline leaking from vehicle- taken to service- fuel line from the fuel pump to the gas tank was heavily corroded/leaking. Potential existed for fire/explosion d/t leaking gasoline. Also shortly after purchase of vehicle as new, had to have rear bumper replaced d/t rusting of part.

The stablicheck light comes on. It get checked out st dealership.. No problems. The lifters failed in 2016.. Why. The truck has been maintained very well. I hear this is known gm problem. Friends have same issues.the truck is always in motion when the issues above start to occur

Three different times the truck throtle stuck to the floor only way to correct it was to turn the key off then the gas petal would release. Would haft to pull off road then restart the truck. The truck was on hwy, eather passing or pulling on the interstate.

The vehicle accelerates on its own, sometimes from a dead stop, sometimes while going at a set speed it will accelerate without pressing the accelerator. You have to forcefully put pressure on the brake to slow down. This happens at various times and at various speeds.we have written it down on every occasion and there are 16 so far.this vehicle has been to the dealer several times and they have yet to repair any of the problems. The manufacturer has never contacted us despite the problems and complaints.

Transmission cooling lines are leaking where rubber hose is crimped onto metal hose, gm part #25999419. Dealer is aware of issue, and states it is very common, but would not replace under warranty. Vehicle is less than 3 years old but has 47,xxx miles on it and the warranty is only 3 years / 36,000 miles. If the line busts, it could cause the transmission to stop shifting and would be unsafe as automatic transmission fluid would leak everywhere.

Transmission makes clunking noises when shifting at 25,33 &46 mph. Sometimes there is a very loud clunk from the transmission. This has been occurring ever since we had 24000 miles on the vehicle. Current miles 59000mi. Gm dealerships could not verify the noises. One dealer changed the tcm and torque converter.very same noises within the same week of the change. Still happening.

Defective transmission cooler lines leak at every flex hose connection.trans fluid sprays on road and on the windshields of vehicles following.this on many years of these, my 2005 silverado 2500 had the same defect.

Transmission wont go forward it only goes on reverse.64.000 miles

I purchased this vehicle at a somewhat reliable local dealership only to have the vehicle in and out of the shop a total of 6 months for the first year and a half of my ownership. The problem with the vehicle has been, and still is, the transmission and it's ability to slip in and out of gear at random. At intersections, stops and starts, as well as in movement the transmission will disengage and slam into gear with a loud clunking noise and jerking action. On an incline, it will actually roll backwards thus forcing the need to constantly cover the brake for this concern. The service manager at the dealership says he has done all he can do and gm insist that this is normal for the transmission to work this way. They even issued a copy of a memo to the dealership about this. They have assured me that if anything were to happen with the transmission it would be covered. Forget about creating an accident, or my wife or myself getting killed! i figure this a very unsafe vehicle and will probably have to get rid of it before it gets rid of me or somebody else unless gm fixes it and makes it right. Economically i'm not in a good position to just get rid of it because i owe so much on it but even if i did an unsafe vehicle is put back into circulation for somebody else to deal with. On another note, the service manager's shared with that his father bought a 2013 chevrolet truck with the same problem and had the transmission slam into gear the same way mine did while he was pulling away from a toll booth while towing a boat back from connecticut. Consequently, this appears to be a problem spanning additional years as well. Clearly a defective design in drive train. Please consider investigating this issue and make gm responsible for addressing this issue other than issuing a memo and turning their heads the other way. There might be many lives save by taking action now.

Three different times the truck throtle stuck to the floor only way to correct it was to turn the key off then the gas petal would release. Would haft to pull off road then restart the truck. The truck was on hwy, eather passing or pulling on the interstate.

Heard a ticking noise coming from under hood of vehicle while pulling away from fast food establishment.pulled over to find that transmission dipstick tube had fractured.went home and found that gm had issued a "customer care bulletin" back in 2012 about this issue.however, i received no letter about this problem.i contacted gm this morning and they refuse to fix the problem under this "bulliten".this should not be a "bulletin", but should be a recall since it involves potential problems with the transmission.a dipstick tube fracture can lead to water, dirt, and other contaminants getting into the transmission causing failure that could result in accidents causing serious injuries or death.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and drove home. The vehicle was taken to liberty chevrolet (105 cooley way, villa rica, ga 30180) where it was determined that the transmission failed and needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Safety issue with 2010 gmc/chevrolet 1500 pickups with 6 speed automatic transmission. The issue involves driving one of these vehicles with the tow/haul mode turned on. If going down a hill at 55 to 65 miles per hour, actually any speed, by laying your foot on the brake pedal hard just hard enough to turn on brake lights these vehicles will begin downshifting. The one i own will go from 5th gear to 2nd gear in less than 10 seconds. At this point the tachometer will peg to the max and the rear tires will begin to slide. I have had this at the dealer twice and have been told this is normal and they recommend i don't use the tow/haul mode. My vehicle hit a small bump in the road once while this was happening and actually was completely sideways at 50 mph.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500 pickup. The contact stated that when driving at various speeds, the transmission would exhibit an unusual clunking noise when shifting gears. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and informed the contact that the failure was normal wear and tear. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 800.

The contact stated that both the seat belts and air bags were defective. The vehicle was inspected by a representative from the manufacturer who stated that the air bags would only deploy in life-threatening situations. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was approximately 8,000. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000. Updated 1/18/2012 *ln

The leather driver seat developed a small tear from limited wear and tear.being out of warranty, i have to bear the cost of poor quality workmanship on a vehicle that is $47,000.i have done everything possible to avoid it tearing further, but entering and exiting the vehicle strains the tear area and it slowly gets worse.

Our truck has a crack/hole in the dash, right side. A/c "recycle" air doesn't work from day one; constantly smell exhaust. Rear 60/40 seat rattles whether up/down. Front passenger door outside handle broke; cheap quality plastic; seat cushion bottom not holding up, already worn. Moisture in the white reverse lights.

While driving or stationary, when pressure is applied to the drivers side seat back it instantly goes to the fully reclined position! something internal to the seat back adjuster lets loose/malfunctions. Two times now while i'm driving i lean back to take something out of my pocket and the seat goes fully reclined. The natural instinct is to pull on the steering wheel to keep from falling backwards, and this causes the truck to swerve. Very dangerous!!!!!

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500.the contact stated that the driver and passenger side seat brackets were rusting. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the dealer sent photos to the manufacturer. The contact stated the vehicle has a five year, fifty-thousand mile rust and corrosion warranty but the manufacturer would not honor the warranty. Failure of cruise control and trailer braking system while braking. Issue was a break in the wiring harness under the dash causing a short. Broken wire still had insulator in tact as if new. This seems to be an issue due to type or undersized wire as this is the second harness failure on the truck

The brake master cylinder on the vehicle leaks brakefluidpast the rear seal into thevacuum power brake booster. The fluid will cause the diaphragm in the booster to fail. The only way to check for a leak is to remove the vacuum hose and see if it is wet or to continue to add brake fluid until the booster is full of fluid at which a leak will become visible.

While in motion at multiple speeds, brakes would surge or feel solid with minimal braking intermittently. When replacing the brake booster we noticed the master cylinder was leaking into the brake booster causing the issues. This could be very dangerous.did not matter if turning or straight. Worst part is it seemed to fail upon heavier application of brakes when needed most.this has been happening since about 15,000 miles

Service trailer brakes soon, warning comes across display & loss of trailer brakes without warning. I was driving on a bright sunny day, dry roads, traffic ahead of me came to a stop. I was pulling a 7,000 pound travel trailer stepped on brake all was fine 1 minute, service trailer brake soon warning display came across & no trailer brakes & almost caused an accident. As long as the display says service trailer brakes soon, you have no trailer brakes, there is no warning or back up system just hope for the best, just glad i wasn't going down a mountain. This time i went to have oil changed & service trailer brakes soon displayed & truck ran rough. Took it to the dealership, after 3 days at dealership, mechanic says the "fuel pump flow control module" has to be replaced, same as in recall # 14515b. This warning will also display without trailer connection & vehicle power loss happens until restarted. This is dangerous as there's no warning or certain situation or weather condition that makes this any different. This happens whether your city or highway driving, doesn't matter.

Brakes on my 2003 chevrolet silverado truck are spongy and do not adequately stop the vehicle resulting in several near miss collisions.the problem has become progressively worse.my vehicle has 111,000 miles and i have replaced the rear brake pads due to accelerated wear without a similar situation on the front brake pads.this shows me that the primary (larger) front brakes pads and rotors are not working correctly.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the power steering was faulty and the steering wheel seized. The contact had to let the vehicle roll down the driveway in order for the steering wheel to unlock. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that a new rack and pinion needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired three times within three months. The vehicle was scheduled for repair and the mechanic ordered the part from napa. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 104,000. The vin was not available.

I had steering wheel turned all the way to the left, to pull into a parking lot, and attempted to turn wheel back all the way to the right to enter a parking space. When i attempted to turn back to the right, the engine rpm dropped and power steering failed. I was able to force the steering wheel through the turn to avoid hitting parked car, and power steering returned to normal after engine recovered.i have also had similar problem when attempting parking lot maneuvers and backing up trailers. Took to dealer where they showed me a print out that stated the problem exists, but is not recognized as a problem because power steering returns to "normal" when vehicle returns to normal driving conditions.

Takata recalled

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado c1500. His finger became lodged in a hole inside the bed of the truck. While the vehicle was parked he entered the vehicle from the side stepping on the rear tire and placing his hand on the bed rail and cut his finger. A report was filed with the manufacturer. The vehicle was notrepaired. The approximate failure and current mileages were 375.

Noticed dash cracked, on passenger side on corner of air bag insert.i went online to find this crack and others common on i believe 2007 - 2013 gm trucks.i then contacted my gmdealer, edenton motors, edenton nc on 12/16/2015. I spoke with patty in service dept. I questioned her as to the possible dangers of the dash fragmentation, if the airbag should go off?she advised that there were no recalls or service bulletins for my 2010 chev silverado 1500 lt. I then called gm customer careand spoke with another rep. They assigned me a case # [xxx], they askedfor vin, mileage, dealer name and who i had spoke with at edenton motors (patty) also there were no recalls.i again voiced my concern over possibility of dash fragmenting and possible injury.he in turn at my request transferred me to a supervisor "[xxx]" explained everything again, my online findings of numerous dashes cracking and the possibility of injury should airbag deploy.he advised of a cost assist program, however i needed to get a gm estimate of repair, we left to visit family the next day and returnedon 12/30/2015while away gm called again asking about the problem and to callthis on 1/22/2015 .i call gm customer care and was advised i had been assigned a sr advisor "[xxx]" ext [xxx]. She advised that i needed the estimate to continue. I covered my concerns with her also.on 1/4/2016 i took to 2010 chevrolet silverado to edenton motors to them to examine.they would forward there findings to gm customer care,on 1/5/2016 i called [xxx], she would look into it. At 2:30pm 1/5/2016[xxx] for edenton mtrs called and advised that cost of repair was around $800.00, my cost would be $500.00.i advised her no thank you. This is ongoing problem with these vehicles since 2007, retired with 35 years in law enforcement, i honestly believe that this is a real safety concern.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The dash is cracked everywhere piece is breaking off!!

The dashboard is cracking directly above the passenger air bag and traveling towards the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was stationary and is protected from heat both at home, at work, and with a visor. I attempted to contact gm, they are not taking responsibility for this.

The dashboard around the instrument cluster as well as the passenger side airbag has developed large cracks due to poor made products or poor manufacturing processes.due to the explosive nature of the airbags as well as the location of the cracks on the dashboard, i fear the airbag will go off in a front end collision causing sharp plastic pieces from the dashboard to unnecessarily injure me and/ or my passengers.

The dash cracked in multiple areas after only 3 years.the cracks are located on the passenger side dash around the airbag housing.it started with the front left corner of the airbag then later with the right side.the cracks are significant and pieces of the dash are protruding up.i have contacted gm and they will not do anything about the dash saying it is not a safety issue.i strongly disagree.if the airbag deploys fragments from the dash could become projectiles and cause severe injury.

Within a year after purchasing my truck i began noticing rust everywhere on the frame and underbody. Each year the rust progressed getting more severe. Year 3 i had my truck in for service and a recall at my local dealership. I spoke in detail with the service manager about how bad the rust on the underbody components and frame where and check for any recalls / bulletins. Well like the tens of thousands other 07-14 silverado owners i was told it wasn't covered and to "salt away" or other measures to keep the truck free of salt during the winter months. What? you've got to be kidding i thought. I even showed the thousands of complaints that could be found across the internet. Unfortunately he was aware of the rust problem, but his hands were tied, as gm refuses to acknowledge or except responsibility for the obvious defect in their steel frames and metal. Unless gm posts a recall or bulletin regarding the rust issue the dealerships hands are tied. Now at year 8 my truck looks as new as the day i bought it with only 68,000 miles. So as long as you don't look underneath! just 3 months ago i had my truck in to have my brakes done. The same service manager whom i know personally called to inform me my truck was ready for pick-up and asked me if i routinely drive my truck on the beach due to how bad the rust had advanced on the frame and entire underbody!! which of course i do not! something has to be done about this! as i cannot afford a new truck at todays prices. Nor should i have to after taking great "showroom" care of my truck. This will eventually lead to frames and/or underbody components failing during operation, causing serious bodily injury or even worse, death.

Paint around 3rd brake lt. On back of cab is bubbling & starting to corrode. This is the only spot on the entire truck where this is happening, it is plain to see that it is being caused by a defect in the seal between the brake lt. & the cab of the truck. I am not sure when this started to erode, but in feb. 2017 is when i took my truck in for service is when i noticed how bad the paint was bubbling around the brake lt.. From the looks of the damage & from what the body shop repair person stated, this has been eroding for a months.

The front driver side window regulator cable frayed and had to be replaced.the window has always been used in a normal fashion but should not have worn so soon.being defective so soon made it very difficult to locate a replacement regulator and took me two weeks to locate one that was not special order.

I'm writing about my dashboard cracking above the passenger side airbag. I have a 2010 chevy crew cab and i'm on my 3rd dashboard for this truck. I'm the original owner and only have 50,000 miles on the truck that is in like new condition. This is definitely and major problem with this design of dash and needs to be addressed. Immediately. I have an appointment to change out the dash again this week but it is going to cost me hundreds of dollars for something i shouldn't have to pay for. What is my next step from here?

Dash has cracked by passenger airbag and above the instrument panel.if airbags deploy it could send chards of fragmented plastic into the cab.

The dash has cracked from the passenger side airbag to the instrument cluster directly in front of the driver. An accident could send debris into the drivers face or puncture the airbag upon deployment.

Dash cover cracks present a potential safety hazard in the event of crash/collision with or without airbag deployment due to sharp flying debris. Dash is constructed of hard plastic that fractures in normal use/wear which results sharp and potentially dangerous projectiles.

Truck has severe accelerated corrosion on frame, brake lines, and most of under carriage.

The dash is cracked in 3 places, once over the instrument cluster and twice near the passenger side airbag. The surrounding plastic is very brittle. The initial cracks happened while the vehicle was moving. This is a very common problem with similar gm dashes. This is a safety hazard. Should the passenger side airbag deploy, the dash would essentially become shrapnel.

Crack that propagates from the passenger side dash airbag. The crack starts in the top left corner of the airbag cutout.

When opening my driver's side door to get out of my truck, the door handle fell off in my hand. I had to put down the window to open the door from the outside. My mechanic told me that he has had to replace several chevy cast aluminum door handles in 2020 because of the same issue.

Cracked dash, involving the passenger side airbag

Dashboard crack. Starting at the top passanger air bag. Recently grew to cover length of entire dash.

My dashboard is cracking on both sides. The one on the passenger side is right at the air bag. I was cleaning the inside of my truck when i noticed it.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the dashboard fractured near the passenger side air bag and several other places. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23,000. The vin was not available. Updated 12/01/16*lj

The interior dash panel on my silverado 1500, 4x4, crew cab has cracked behind the instrument cluster causing a loud rattle when going over bumps. The dash panel has also started to crack at the passenger side air bag location and i feel this could be a very dangerous situation if the airbag were to deploy, causing plastic dash parts to dislodge and hit occupants.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. While attempting to exit the vehicle, the interior front driver side door handle detached. The driver was unable to open the door from inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who indicated that the entire inner door panel would need to be replaced in order to remedy the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 45,000.

The driver's door failed to open from the inside when arriving at my destination.the locks appeared to work both manually and electrically but the inside door latch handle would not open the door.i think this is a bit of a safety issue.very difficult to climb across the console to get to the passenger side door. It finally cleared itself after a bit of time, but you want that door to open when you need it to open.a couple of weeks later i was playing with it again, it opened but would not latch to close.i would suspect the issues are related but have not had it back to the dealer to have it looked at.

At under 40 thousand miles front u joints went bad and had to be replaced.also caused tire wear on inside edges that required four new tires.

At 40,000 miles rear axle had to be replaced

As i was driving down the road my tire started going flat. After changing the tire and putting the spare on i noticed that where the tire went flat there had been separation from the outside tire and the inside of the tire rubber.i noticed that both my wrangler goodyear p265/70/r17 tires had bubbles in them where the tires are separating in the middle of the tread. The tires dot number is 4bt6 fder 0610. This is definitely a manufacturing defect and should be looked into. The tires are on a 2010 chevrolet 1500 pickup.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the spare tire was 17 inches and all the other tires were 18 inches. The manual indicated that a 4 wheel drive should not be used when the spare was on the vehicle. The contact was concerned that when the 4 wheel drive was engaged with a spare, the vehiclewould not function properly. The current and failure mileages were approximately 1,500.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the service traction control warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact also stated that the doors would lock and unlock independently. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,000. ..updated 09/11/17

The dashboard is cracking and falling in all around the airbags and instrument cluster . If the truck is ever in a wreck the pieces can injure or cause death to the driver and passengers

Dashboard is cracking apartment. Cracks around airbag on dash.

Dashboard cracked on driver side and runs over to air bag on passenger side if air bag deploys cracked dash could deflate air bag my dealer nor general motors would help said they would fix for $1100.00 dollars this is a safety defect

The dash has a crack on the drivers side above cluster and passenger side air bag to the bottom of the windshield.

Plastic dash has cracks around airbag and above steering column. If i was to have a accident and the airbag deployed there would be plastic shrapnel deployed throughout the vehicle.

Interior door handles peeling chrome plate. Leaves razor sharp edges that cut fingers, drawing blood when exiting the vehicle. Less than 70,000 miles of use. Similar to 2007 issues.

My dashboard has cracked from the airbag to the windshield defrost vent.

Dash is cracking and gm doesn't want to assist with what is clearly a defect.

Dash began to crack around the passenger airbag door. If airbag was to go off, dash pieces would go towards occupants. Called gm, said no recalls and would have to replace out of pocket. Should be a safety recall. Numerous other similar models affected.

Dash is cracked around passenger airbag and above gauge cluster. This is a hazard for airbag deployment.this needs to be considered for recall as it has impacted many of the models during specific date range starting in 2007.

The dash has cracked all up

Dash cracked near passenger air bag

Front end violent shaking happened on several road surfaces. I have experienced this once before, on another vehicle, and found tires had hard spots. Replacement corrected problem. Tires on this truck are good year, wrangler p 265 70 r 17. It continues to happen frequently at speeds above 45 mph.

The dashboard on my 2010 silverado 1500 has cracks on it.because of these cracks it is a concern that the airbags will be affected if deployed.

Dashboard excessively cracking. Cracking around passengers airbag most severe.

Major and multiple large cracks in upper dash near airbag and instrument cluster.gm claims no complaints received on this problem.

My 2010 silverado 1500 dash board has cracked in two locations. The vehicle was stationary parked at work.siting outside in 73 degree weather. Car was cool on interior and a/c had been used prior to parking.got in the truck. Started it up andheard a snap and there was the crack.

The interior dash panel on my silverado 1500, 4x4, crew cab has cracked behind the instrument cluster causing a loud rattle when going over bumps. Ignition ~ won't turn over.only ignition key & fob on the key ring ~ key will not turn over, can't start car & now air bag light comes on & off intermittently.

The dashboard is cracked around airbag.

I have cracks on my passenger side airbag, and over my instrument cluster.this is a well known issue, and i'm sure that if my airbag went off, the plastic would become shrapnel.

My dash on my truck has cracks in the dash by the airbag and above the gauge cluster. I am worried if chevrolet does not do a voluntary recall on this there is a chance that the airbag may not function properly.

Dash is cracking in three places

Takata recall our door handles in our 2010 silverado are chrome and they are peeling and have sliced open my wife's finger. These are very sharp and are peeling right at the top edge on both front doors.

Dash is cracked over the air bags. In case of accident, cracked dash pieces will be projected into cabin of vehicle causing injury or death.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving various speeds, the accelerator pedal depressed to the floor automatically without warning. In order for the vehicle to be stopped, the contact had to switch the vehicle to the off position, shifting the transmission into neutral, and applying brakes, then power steering was lost, gas pedal should return to idle position, and restart the vehicle which should be back to normal. It was then taken to a dealer; however, the failure was not able to be duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 2,286. Updated 10/21/16*lj

While driving on a highway stabilitrack turns off then few seconds later traction control turns off then i get either a cylinder misfire or throttle body code. Truck then goes into reduced power mode with rough idle. I can clear the codes with obd reader and it runs fine for a while.

The vehicle is having electrical issues and it effects it by shutting off in the middle of traffic on a highwayit also effects the throttle sensor by accelerating when you come to a stop at a stop light and the transmission jumps a gear when it does that.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. While driving approximately 20-35 mph, the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact applied the brakes and shifted into neutral. The failure recurred three times and the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The dealer advised that the contact has possibly engaged the cruise control haphazardly, causing the failure. The dealer neither inspected the vehicle nor performed a diagnostic test. The failure persisted and also, the vehicle would exhibit a delay in decelerate for at least four seconds after disengaging the brakes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer a second time yet the contact was advised that the failure was normal for the vehicle and was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 6,000.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that while at a stop, the vehicle lunged forward without warning. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 49,000 and the current mileage was 51,000.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact was driving 2 mph in reverse in a residential driveway and there was a three to five second delayed response before the vehicle decelerated. The vehicle was able to stop when the brakes were applied. The contact stated that the failure recurred at various speeds. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they informed the contact that the vehicle was operating normally. The failure mileage was 2,000.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that while the cruise control was set to 75 mph, the vehicle independently decelerated to 25 mph. The vehicle became resistant to acceleration attempts, and the reduce speed and the traction control warning lights were illuminated. The failure was experienced numerous times. A local mechanic performed a diagnostic which located the failure at the throttle body. The throttle body was replaced however the failure was not corrected. The vehicle continued to lose acceleration with or without the cruise control set. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 58,000.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado k1500. The contact stated that when it was raining the defrost would not function. All of the windows in the vehicle were cloudy. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice for a diagnostic test and the technicians could not diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 9500.

The defrost does not work well. It only seems to clear about a 2ft section of the middle of the window. Both passenger and driver sides of the windshield remain fogged up so you cannot see to the left or right side of the vehicle and could cause an accident.

My truck has had this problem from the time it was made. They designed the defroster to work with the ac unit to produce dry air.but once the outside temp drops below 35 degrees the ac unit shuts off. With this setup it causes my windows to fog up with moist air requiring me to pull off the road until i can get the window cleared.over the last two years i have almost wrecked due to not being able to see.i have contacted the dealer and chevrolet and have not got any help.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500 4wd extended cab lt.while driving approximately 30 mph, he turned the defroster on and all of the windows became cloudy. He stated that when the failure happened he had to clean the windows. The failure had been on going for approximately 4 months. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 4,500 and the current mileage was 8,300.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet silverado 1500. The contact stated that the defroster failed to operate properly and only two vents cleared the fog from the windshield. When the failure occurred on a cold day, the heater failed to operate and impacted the visibility on the driver's side of the vehicle. The fog was extensive and caused condensation. Paul masse chevrolet south (399 main st, south kingstown, ri 02879, (401) 515-4904) was notified. The contact purchased a fan to place on the driver's side to prevent the condensation due to the vent failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Valvestems split at base adjacent to wheel after < 4 months and < 5000miles. These were purchased from general motors (dealership) and installed by a reputable tire store. They would release air at a rate of approximately 10-15psi per 100mi driven and only at freeway speeds. No air loss around town or over night while sitting. Bending the valve stem downward (away from the hub and towards the tire) caused the air to escape. This is the direction they would natural bend while spinning due to centrifugal force. All 4 were leaking or showed signs of damage in the same location.
