A friend and i located an impact sensor that was bad. I believe that it was a safety problem and should have been corrected by gm.

Speedometer issue:reads at least 50 mph sitting still and registers more than 140 mpg at highway speed.my mechanic replaced the sensor in the unit and it worked for about 2 weeks and then itmalfunctioned again.cost to repair exceeds $700.00 as the instrument cluster must be replaced.this appears to be a common defect with these vehicles. I have a 2005 chevy 1500hd quadrasteer pickup truck. The rear end started making a grinding sound in the rear axle housing at 63000 miles. I had a repair of $2178.1. I make a living as a mechanic and do not believe this to be a wearable defect after 4 years as i was told it to be the left rear cv joint axle shaft. When i called chevy they would not provide any assistance for the repair. This is unsafe do to it ca cause the axle to lock up and cause an accident. I was lucky and had it repaired before that could happen.
Dt*: the contact stated while traveling 30 mph down hill on normal road conditions and on two separate occasions carrying a load such as a travel trailer in one case and a horse trailer on another, the manual transmission locked up almost causing an accident.the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice and on each visit the transmission was replaced but the problem persisted.
Brake lines rusting out no warning no brakes. On highway with my grandchildren went to hit thee brakes went to the floor i did get it stopped and towed home but could have been real bad if my family was hurt.only 100000 on my truck and well cared for oil and everything
While driving home from the beach at the end of labor day weekend i was coming to a complete stop to turn on to rt 404, my vehicle was then struck in the rear, i saw it coming so i applied pressure to the brake as to not hit the car in front of me. After the accident i noticed brake fluid running out under engine area. And had no brakes, vehicle was towed to shop and i was informed that steel brake line had rusted through. This was not a result of accident just additional pressure on brake, having 2 of my 4 grandkids with me im glad it happeded while stopped and not going 60 mph across the bay bridge, gm should recall all vehicles with the same type of brakeline issue's or agree to pay for the lines that do rust through
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet silverado 1500 hd. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the brakes failed to respond after repeated pressure was applied to the pedal. The emergency brake was engaged in oder to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the five brake lines were replaced due to corrosion. The manufacturer was notified and they informed the contact that there was not a recall related to the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.
The contact owns a 2005 chevrolet silverado 1500 hd. While driving under 35 mph, the abs warning indicator illuminated and the brakes independently engaged. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,800.
Brake pedal went to within 1/2 inch of floor brakes caught at last minute avoiding a rear end crash into car sitting at traffic light.inspection revealed all steel brake lines are severely corroded and leaking.all braking was lost with several brief pumps on the brake pedal.notice low mileage.all brake rotors wee warped and had to be replaced at 13,000 miles and 4 years of serviced. Brake system is junk and gm needs to replace at their cost.unconscionable that gm has not been called to task for this unsafe break design.
While travling at 3 mph in acampgroundand towing a #7000 camping trailer. I hit my brakes and the peddle wentto the floor. It took some distance to stop. I got out and found that one of my break lines had a leak. Upon further inspection . All the brakes lines have heavy and severe rust causing the brake line weakenand the brakes to fail. Only by the grace of god i was travilng at 3 mph and still had not reached the main winding country road where i would of wrecked and possible death of me or others. . the total weight of truck and trailer was #14500 pounds.
While backing up brake line blew out causing loss of braking.
Problem with abs brakes prematurely activating as i am coming to a stop. I slow down and when i'm almost to a stop the abs kicks in and the pedal drops down lower than anticipated. This almost caused an accident.this now happens all the time and i'm sending the car in for service on 8/5/08 to joe romano chevy in syracuse, ny.my understanding it that chevrolet had a recall for this in earlier model years. It appears that they have not corrected the problem and the recall should be extended.
At low speeds coming to a complete stop, the abs braking system will function and pulse causing an extended braking distance. Along with it being a safety issue it is also an annoying nuisance always hearing the loud pulsing of the abs brake.
Rattling in steering column. Started at 23,000 miles. Getting progressively worse. Getting worried about steering failure.
My 2005 silverado that i bought brand new was brought in for body work on the bed on the truck. When the body shop removed the bed to do the body work repairs they discovered that the frame, frame cross members, leaf spring shackles, brake lines, shock mounts are rusted and rotted through. No under coating left anywhere on my frame or under my gm silverado. The vehicle is now deemed unsafe for the road and general motors knowing the vehicle is unsafe has said they can not help me and has not assisted with repairing the trucks frame at this point.i am still working with general motors to attempt to resolve this issue. This is a know issue that gm does not want to address easily for us consumers. Longest lasting trucks on the road is there slogan my lasted 8 years. Guess silver-rot-o's are disposable trucks after 8 years. General motors will need to step up and resolve my issue or i will never buy another new gm product ever again. Plan to bring the truck to local dealers to show them the damage while the bed is off the truck. Bottom line is this.... My gm truck is unsafe for the road, gm needs to fix my truck to keep this loyal gm owner satisfied with there product line. Mind you i own 5 gm vehicles my wife's grandfather sold pontiac's for 50+ years. This is not the way to stand by your product gm and the easiest way to lose a life lone loyal gm customer. Toyota is standing by there trucks by fixing frame rot issues for their consumers you should too. Mine was built in canada just as a side note. Fix my 2006 silverado truck gm. Stand by your word and horror your slogan and make my silverado the longest last truck on the road.

My son was driving home from work on the highway and the truck started shaking. He pulled over and saw that the tire was coming apart. This is a sumitomo tire 285/50r20 115h. Dot v4jd 3mtr4910. This was a very dangerous situation especially because all of the tires are the same. The truck was parked until we can figure out what to do.
