Exhaust manifold bolts malfunction allowing exhaust gases to enter cab of vehicle. This also can cause wrong readings to the emission control system ( oxygen sensor ) to richen the gas mixer to engine causing emission problems. Reason for compliant, after checking internet sites. I found out this is a to common of a problem with chevrolet ( gm ) v8 engines. The auto repair shop i took my vehicle to, knew of this problem every well. Updated

With no warning the brake lines failed - and the truck hit a tree, good news was that i was in the driveway.the entire frame is rotted and my mechanic has advised me not to drive the truck any more. It currently has 80,000 miles and the body and interior are perfect - i expected to maintain this truck and keep it fore many more years, bought it in 03 with aprox 35,000 on it. Brake line rusted out lost brakes pulling into parking lot also found fuel line leak under truck.

When pulling into garage i appliedbrakes and pedal went to the floor, got out to inspect, found large puddle of fluid just behind front left wheel. Drove into garage to inspect cause found fluid leaking from one of severalbrake lines running above front left cab mounting bracket ,fluid dripping from one of two self tapping screws installed from top into bracket ,i believe brake line ruptured from chaffing.

The contact owns a 2001 chevrolet silverado k1500 hd. The contact was driving 45 mph when he abruptly depressed the brakes to avoid a crash. The brake pedal was depressed into the floorboard abnormally and the vehicle would not stop. The contact was able to merge onto the shoulder to avoid a crash. Upon further inspection, the contact discovered that brake fluid was leaking from the vehicle. The contact then discovered that there was a hole in the brake line as a result of rust and corrosion. The vehicle was driven to a mechanic who inspected the vehicle and confirmed that the brake line was rusted and corroded. The contact secured an appointment to have the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 173,000.

I have owned a 2001 chevy silverado 4x4 extended cab pickup for approximately 10 years.during my ownership i have had the brakes worked on numerous times as the calipers were sticking, i could feel a shudder when coming to a stop, or for a soft pedal.last year, i had to make an emergency stop when a vehicle pulled out in front of me.when this happened, the brake pedal went to the floor.i managed to limp the vehicle to my mechanic.i was told that upon inspection, the truck had ruptured a brake line and that to ensure safety, all brake lines should be replaced.

Noise (grunting sound) in front when applying brake.seems like abs is releasing the front brake.pulled in driveway last night push down brake pedal, the truck front brakes made an awful sound, stopping distance was effected and ran off drive into yard.truck has been into dealer twice, still has the problem.

The vehicle was not repaired. There was an investigation under nhtsa action number: ea11001 (service brakes, hydraulic service brakes, hydraulic:foundation components:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings) that may be related to the failure.
