On march 17, 2003, i was traveling eastbound on waters avenue when a hartline bus stopped two cars ahead of me.i came to a complete stop as the bus was letting passengers on and off.a female driving a ford taurus was traveling 45 miles per hour and swerved to avoid my truck.she hit the rear bumper, shattering the back window of my chevy s10.the truck proceeded to be lifted up and was thrusted into the suv ahead of me.as i tried to get out of my driver's side door, i noticed it was jammed.i took of my seatbelt and proceeded to get out my passenger door.that is when i noticed that neither airbag had gone off.noticing that, and also noticing her airbag was deployed.i proceeded to ask the police officer if my airbag should have deployed.he replied, "yes it should have gone off and you're lucky you were wearing a seatbelt or you would have sustained serious injury due to hitting the windshield."i went to town and country hospital and was informed that i had sustained lower back strain and whiplash.my truck was a total loss because the frame was bent.i purchased the chevy s10 because it had airbags and i felt i would be safe in an accident.i would like to know any information of any recalls or problems with airbags of the chevy s10s.i feel this is a very serious situation and was very lucky i wasn't more seriously injured.i hope that my inquiry into this matter is taken seriously.sincerely yours,[xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

After multiple letters and e-mails i finally gave up. Since that time my husband has had to take tylenol with codeine every single day simply to be able to accomplish day-to-day tasks.

When attempting to back the truck up, the backs of the seats are too high and it obstructs my view. One night while trying to back my truck up in my yard, my view was too obstructed and i hit a tree.the tailgate of my truck was down, and was damaged. It is un-repairable. I was backing up at about 5 mph, so the airbags didn't open.this has been a problem from the beginning.i haven't contacted the manufacturer, but if you advise me to do so, i will. The anti-lock brakes just went made a grinding noise and i had to almost push them to the floor to stop...i was going 35-40 mph and someone in front of me slammed on their brakes. Since then, the brakes scrub and make a grinding noise if i don't stop gradually.the brake pads were looked at and are okay.i'm not a mechanic, but if it's not the pads, then what is it??? noone was injured in either incident, but i'd like to know if there have been any other complaints about the seats.i'm almost 6 feet tall and can't see over them, and barely see around them.that's dangerous!...as is the braking system.

This complaint is about the 2000 chevrolets-10 pickup truck with the 4 cln. Motor.it first started going dead while driving up the road. I would pull over, turn it completely off and restart it without a problem. After giving it a tune up it stopped going dead but began stalling when trying to pull off from a stop sign or traffic light. I would be surprised if no one has been killed yet because of this. I have asked several people i have seen with this type of truck and they have had the same problem.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s10. The contact stated that the high brake light on the vehicle keeps failing. The contact stated that the print circuit is up in the light under the shield on the back of the cab and it is burning out and causing the entire casing to be replaced. This is the third casing that the contact has had to replace. The dealer stated that the circuit burns out because of the location, but the part is not under recall. The failure mileage was 17000 and the current mileage was 22000.

My abs and emergency brake lights have been on ever sense i have bought the truck (mid 2014) and i can't seem to figure out why. I have read several places that say that some of the solder points in the abs module have probably cracked and need to be repaired if it throws a certain code (and mine does). Haven't had the time or money to fix the problem as my truck is my daily driver. Have noticed some slight pulsing in the brakes when stopping, but not enough to annoy you. The lights on the dash will annoy you though. I have also been chasing several vacuum leaks. One was by the brake master cylinder and another (from inside the cab) sounds like it's right above the transmission housing at the back of the engine (where you can't see). It's so bad that when i first start the engine and start to drive at 1/2 throttle, it has absolutely no power, but then picks back up again after about a 1/4 mile with no power. Because of the vacuum leak, i'm guessing, it sounds like i have a turbo on the truck from inside the cab. If you turn the radio off, you can definitely hear it.

Engine failure - had to be rebuilt at app. 75000 miles - both sides of cab bottom rear rusted out - first time brake failure 2013 - put brake on to put the truck in drive no brakes front right - aug 2014 brake failure - put brake on to put in drive no brakes.

Brake line failed at an intersection, total loss of brake pressure. Chevrolet notified, dealer could not find problem, part took a week to arrive, and we just fixed it at home out of exaspiration for the dealer, chevy was great though, line found worn right through. Many failures with this vehicle. Went through 3 batteries and2 alternators.upper ball joint failed on the highway, parts department tried to say because it wasnt greased, but i keep it greased, the ball broke right out the side, all ball joints replaced. Idler arm found broken when vehicle taken for re-alignment before that. Various electrical failures (suspected short somewhere as battery sparks when reconnected). Fuel pump failure at 65,000 miles, preceeding fuel guage malfunction about 6 mo's before, replaced fuel pump. Heating failure suspected due to dex-cool coolant (coolant solidifies and jams heater core, ect...), vehicle reverse flushed, and new thermostat installed, not much improvement, blows harder but still cold. Transmission slips on occasion. Currently leaks steering fluid, this has not been corrected as i bought a new truck, and have not had time to fix the s10. Water coming in from somewhere, carpet consistently soaked. Very unhappy with vehicle with so many repairs, truck only has 70,000 miles, components failed far before their time, more minor things wrong but repaired. We are lucky to have a garage and a whole lot of tools for this vehicle.

The inside motor within the radiator split apart and burst allowing transmission fluid and coolant to mix.which caused a chocolate corrosive mixture that disintegrated the gears in the transmission and immediately overheated the radiator which caused the vehicle to stop on the highway.the consumer requestedthe dealer/manufacturer to properly repair the vehicle.mrscc

I own a 2000 chevrolet s-10 pick up truck. I have a problem with the check engine light on. I took my vehicle to a chevrolet dealershipthe past a couple of times and was advised that the smog pump needs to be replaced. The dealer advised me that this is a problem with every 2000 chevrolet pick up truck and that gm needs to issue a recall for this problem. I a writing to know what is the process for getting a recall started. Thank you.

Had 3rd door handle replaced twice and it's since broken again.will not pay to have it replaced again.all knobs for both driver and passenger seats have broken b/c they are made of cheap plastic.dealer joked saying everyone who has bought this vehicle has had 3rd door handle replaced.had driver door hinges replaced and they need replaced again, but will not put anymore money into it.break system is awful.finally had to remove fuse for the abs system b/c the brakes would depress all the way to the floorboards and not grab.have had fuel pump replaced twice.very costly repairs and as a result will never buy another gm product again.

Letter from to the administrator re product safety recall 00v258001 affecting 2000 chevrolet vehicles with the incorrect payload capacity listed on the vehicle certification label on the driver's side door.the consumer stated the label read 3,872 lbs, when it should have read 1,434 lbs. My complaint does not concern my vehicle. It is the intensity of newer headlights and taillights on late model vehicles.it is very difficult to drive with extremely bright lights shining from all directions. Instead of lighting area the newer lights seem to be a focused beam that is blinding.

Left rear brake light failure, if the multifunction switch on the steering column is held just right the brake will function periodically. Indicating an open circuit in the wiper, cruise turn signalcontrol. Dealer say it is a 400.00 repair. Gm says it is not covered under any recalls. Like the blazers, malibu's and olds.

I have problem with my (abs) and my tailgate.

Center-vehicle mounted rear brake light melted its plastic housing which melted the wiring and mounts used to power the two lightbulbs in the center brake light, resulting in no functioning center brake light. This also made the interior light fall out of the roof as it is attached to the same plastic housing. Only apparent fix is to replace the entire old melted center brake light housing with a new one. Occurred under normal use with manufacturer recommended light bulbs in use.

Passlock failed on several occassions.dealer repaired each time at no charge(warrenty)brakes failed before 15000miles, had to replace both front rotors.dealer refuses to acknowledge any fault or reimbursement.we beleive that since the millage is so low, the dealer should reimburse us for the repairs.

I have a 2000 chevy s-10, 4.3 liter with 69300 miles on it. The engine on this vehicle does not want to turn over and run. I 've had this happen on 5 occasions within the past month. I know it is a gas problem getting to the carburetor since i have splashed a little gas or starting fluid in the carburetor to see if the engine will fire up. The engine does start but shuts down because of a lack of fuel to keep it running. I have replace fuel filter 2 times, map sensor and have recently read that gm used a sock strainer on the fuel pump that tends to get clogged up. I also understand that gm has resolved this problem with a different style of strainer. I am very concerned about this since the last time my engine failed i was driving on a busy cleveland, ohio interstate (i-77 by pershing ave exit ramp). I was able to get the vehicle restarted after several attempts to turn the engine over. I have seen cars on the side of the interstate get hit and concerned for my own safety and health if this should occur again. I believe since gm has and has knowledge of this defect on their part that they should recall all vehicles that use or used this type of strainer on the fuel pump unit. It is just a matter of time before someone is killed because of this irresponsible action on gm to havethe vehicles that are on the road with the problem fuel pumpstainer.

Fuel sender unit gives inaccurate fuel level, indicates > 3/4 tank when empty.

Vehicle engine shuts off or on one occasion will not start i suspect a fuel pump or fuel delivery system intermittent fault.*la

Email fwd fm federal trade commission fm maurice twitchell(wa) re the defective gas filter in his 2000 s-10 chevrolet pickup.*mrthe consumer stated while driving at 70 mph, with a half a tank of gas, the vehicle suddenly quit running as if it were out of gas. The vehicle started after sitting for a few minutes. The consumer drove the vehicle to the dealer and after it was inspected, the consumer was told the fuel pump and gas filter needed to be replaced. The consumer disagreed and stated the problem was the filter in the gas tank, the filter bends up so the pump sucks air instead of pumping gas. The consumer fixed the gas filter himself and the vehicle did not experience the problem again.

While making a full stop on occasion , and then trying to accelerate, i have hadno power as if it is fuel starvation.have replaced the fuel filter which is over priced for the second time.upon inspection of the fuel filter, a black substance seems to be blocking the fuel filter for no apparent reason. It must be coming from the fuel tank or a fuel line. After recently replacing the filter and making a quick stop and backing rapidly, i experience the same power failure.turning off the truck and restarting seems to help momentarily.

I was driving when vehicle engine just stopped. No warning at all. I was able to exit the traffic lanes safely. I was lucky that the traffic was light at that time. The vehicle is a 2000 chevrolet s10 pickup with only 41000 miles. Initial problem was the fuel pump according to the chevrolet dealer. Since this happened to me i've heard of two other chevy pickups having the same problem.

While traveling vehicle shutdown without indication. Dealer stated fuel pump needed to be replaced. Please provide further information.

Consumer states that the vehicle will shut off while driving at any speed. Contacted dealer.mrafter three failures the vehicle would not start at all.*jg

On 9-18-2004 fuel pump was replaced after i was left stuck in rush hour traffic the night before.on 9-23-2005 fuel pump was replaced aftercomplained that the fuel gauge bounces up and down. They then replaced the fuel pump but i had to pay out of pocket for repair because i was 6 days beyond warranty.on 3-1-06 while at the dealership in va the car would not start yet again due to the fuel pump and i had to find yet another way home.

Truck wouldn't start and would often stall after it finally started.acted like it had no fuel in tank.had to have it towed to replace the fuel pump system twice, which was very costly.

My 2000 s10 would not start last week.had it towed to garage.figured it was fuel pump.it was, but upon inspection, the fuel tank was rusted out along with the bands holding the tank on.paid $1,000.74 to have it repaired.

I have a 2000 chevy s10 pickup with 15,000 miles on it. These vehicles are made to run on gas or ethanol.chevy put an experimental lining into the gas tank to prevent corrosion by the ethanol.this lining flakes off into the gas, causing staggering and stalling while driving.requests for a new gas tank have been refused by gmc, although the vehicle is now in for what will probably be the third tank and fuel system cleaning.it took a letter from the ct state attorney general's office to get an extended warranty for the vehicle.this vehicle is not safe to be on the road with this gas tank on it, and since the tow truck driver that towed it in last night could accurately diagnose the problem without driving it, i should think that there are a significant number of unsafe vehicles on the road.i feel it is only pressure from your office that will force gmc to recall these vehicles for gas tank replacement before someone is killed when their vehicle dies as they are driving at highway speeds.i do not know how many years if vehicles received these gas tanks, but if ever a problem warranted your attention, i think this one does.*la

Faulty fuel pump unit.i drive a 2000 chevrolet s-10 pickup with less than 51,000 miles.i just recently had the fuel pump unit replaced for around $830., which included the necessary towing.my mechanic diagnosed the problem immediately and told me that they are replacing these fuel pump units left and right.he said that it appears to be a real problem with later model gm vehicles.he had another vehicle in his shop at the same time, and it had only 46,000 miles on it.my mechanic also said that these units should not be failing like they are, and that gm has a real problem unit here.

While driving 65 mph, without any indication vehicle engine stalled. Technician serviced vehicle and replaced fuel pump.

I purchased a 2000 chevrolet s10 in january 2001. The fuel pump went out in february 2001. The dealer replaced the fuel pump and alerted me that there were a lot of problems with the fuel pumps on these vehicles. My truck was still under warranty with only 18,000 miles on it. I currently have 101,000 miles on it and after the fuel pump replacement i have not had any trouble with the fuel pump. There is a real problem with the fuel pumps in these vehicles.

Fuel gauge failedto register. Intermittent operation, wrong reading, failedall together. Nothing. Too expensive.

It just stalled and the radio keeps going on and off once in a while, also the tires keep going flat on me and i put fix a flat in them and they still do the same. Electric problem i think it might be the relay not sure. But it has electric problems.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s10. While driving the vehicle, an abnormal fuel odor was noticed from the rear of the vehicle. The contact noticed a leak from the fuel tank. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 262,870.

I purchased this vehicle from our local chevrolet dealer on 10/04/2014.i filled the fuel tank on 10/06/2014 and drove it to my residence (about 15 miles.)when i got home, i noticed there was a streak of a liquid on my driveway when i was backing into my garage.i got out of my truck and noticed a fuel smell and got a trouble light to see if i could determine the source.it was running out below the fuel tank.i then took my floor jack and jacked up the vehicle so i could get a bucket under it to catch the fuel that was running on to the floor.i collected about 1 1/2 gallons. I called the dealer the next morning and they say i am obligated to pay to repair the truck.

Tailgate cables on my 2000 chevy s10 have rusted through and broken. I have purchased new cables, but the repair requires replacing the entire latch. Even the parts people at the dealership were disgusted by this. Although there is a recall on some of the full sized gm trucks, the manufacturer does not seem concerned about their smaller truck customers. From what i've seen on the internet, this does not seem like an isolated case.

Chevrolet s10- #1 both seat reclining latches have broken off (cheap pot metal used in latch).dealer laughed saying that he has had many reports about this but it is not a "manufacturer's defect", but it will cost us $70 for each mechanism plus hundreds of dollars in labor cost.i have noted many other complaints on your website regarding this.#2 third door latch broken, also noted other complaints on your website about this.

This vehicle has light metal latches on the seat backs and extended cab door.these latches broke, causing the third door to swing open and the seats to wobble.the back of the driver and passenger seats could not be adjusted without these latches.the dealer has examined the vehicle three times, attempting to repair the problem.this type of vehicle only hadan extended cab door behind the driver's seat.the dealer repaired the drivers seat.the passenger seat adjustment had broken within the first week of the drivers side repair.*sc

I own a 2000 s-10 chevrolet pickup with around 39,000 miles.both tailgate straps snapped simultaneously as i crossed a field with the tailgate in the open position.this is not a company vehicle where the tailgate is operated everyday.i do not allow heavy loads on the tailgate itself like loading or unloading an atv.it appears to me that there is a definite design flaw in this cabling.when the tailgate is closed, the coated, stranded copper wire that makes up the cable is folded back against itself.any opening and closing causes normal, bending metal fatigue.in looking at my failed cables, it is apparent that all of the strands except for approximately ten, had failed prior to the final cable failure.thankfully, no one was injured on my truck's cable failure; however, it is not uncommon for people to carry others working afield on the tailgate.also, trucks are used quite often for loading materials or equipment that applies some load to this area.either of these could result in someone's death or injury and i have found instances of both on-line.there is currently a recall on some of gm's larger trucks, but not all.additionally, i have talked with my dealership and a gm representative and have been informed that the recall has not been extended to chevy's smaller trucks.this item needs some attention before someone else is injured or killed!!

I was crawling into the back of my 2000 sonoma highrider via the tailgate when the cables broke jaring my back.

Consumer complained about atailgateproblem.the cables that hold the tailgate in the down positionsnapped. Consumer contacted the manufacturer, and was informed that there was no recall for this defect. Also, consumer provided the vin for confirmation, but again was told that it did not apply to the vehicle in question.

Tailgate support cables on 2000 chevy s-10 broke while sitting on tailgate.i only weigh 180 lbs and they both broke.

I have a 2000 s-10 pickup . The tailgate cables broke first on the driver side. Before it was replaced the passenger side snapped when the tailgate was stepped on while loading/unloading. Luckily without causing any personal injury.

The emergency brake as well as rotors and pads all had to be replaced.(see e-mai).

Parking brake no longer latches.

Transmission slips when in overdrive. I can turn the ignition off and the problem stops for a while. I was wanting to know if this might be a factory defect.

My 2000 chevy s10 4x4 (purchased from courtesy chevrolet, phoenix, az)broke down on 8/12/03 due to the transmission slipping out of gear and making a grinding noise between reverse & park when i stopped. The truck would not go into drive, and i had to be towed to the nearest dealer (gateway chevrolet in avondale, az) approx. 65 miles away. After the truck was checked out the next day, the service advisor called to say there was nothing wrong with the truck and that it shifted into all gears and ran normal. (note: there were 82,278 miles on the truck at that time and i had the 100,000 mile extended warranty).on several other occasions before and after this event, i experienced a sudden revving up of the engine, which stopped after several rapid depressions of the accelerator.on 4/11/05, while on vacation in california, the exact problem occured again, except this time, after being towed again to the nearest dealer (coalinga motors, inc., coalinga, ca),it was found the transmission wasin need of replacement, as well as the shift forks in the transfer case.

Transmission shifts hard from 1st to 2nd and displays code 1780, ever since 50 k miles. Had local transmission shop make the tfb change gm recommended and problem reappeared after 15k. I am sure i be told that now with 130k miles out of warranty, still if happened way back. Additionally the transmission fluid has been changed ever 15k and is driven in light highway conditions. Check this site to see how many numerous reports have been made. Http://www.cartrackers.com/forums/live/yourlemon/160.html just wonder why after so long no action been taken to correct known problem.

Driving down the highway at 70 mph, transmission abruptly dropped out of overdrive into 3rd gear, causing vehicle to lurch violently.vehicle was driven to transmission shop in 3rd gear for diagnosis, which led to $1,806 repair bill, apparently due to a known valve body issue.

Abs braking system light came up ondashboard.also, there was a noise coming from transmission area.dealershipwas aware ofproblems.

Consumer states that when shifting the vehicle into any gear the gears will start to slip and then the vehicle will start to rev up and finally kick into gear. Contacted dealer and the dealer cannot find the problem.

Automatic transmission in my 2000 chevrolet s10 zr2 made a loud screeching noise.rpms were way of in comparison to speed.the transmission would not shift gears.vehicle has no reverse, acts like neutral, drive wil go forward, 1st will go forward, 2nd will go forward and 3rd will go froward.

This is the second chevy s10 4x4 truck i have had that the transmission has failed.it is jerking when i am driving.that is what the first chevy s10 i had did.i want to know if there are any problems with the chevy s10 transmission that have been reported.

We purchased a 2000 chevy s-10 in july 2002. Immediately, the "check engine" light would come on during drives of more than 20 minutes. We had transmission work done in the fall. By december 2002, on a 4-hour trip home for christmas, the transmission blew out. We put in a brand new transmission on, but the same problems occur. If we drive more than 20 minutes, the light will come on and we will have hard shifts. Parking the truck and letting it cool fixes the hard shift. But for 4 years we have owned a truck that we cannot drive for more than 20 miles. We have been back to the transmission shop, to no avail. The problem doesn't seem to be the transmission, itself.

I bought the chevy with only 30,000 miles on it.but ever since the beginning the third brake light has never worked and i always replace the fuses and the little light bulbs. Also have had trouble with the transmission and have had it rebuilt and the radiator twice.i just have had more than enough problems with the truck i regret buying this truck.

No summary listed for above vehicle.

I recently purchased a used 2000 chevy s-10 with 48,000 miles.the vehicle is extra clean and there were no apparent problems.i had to make a trip from atlanta, ga to chicago, il.coming back on the interstate (traveling 75-80 miles an hour), the check engine light came on and the truck downshifted from overdrive into third.i was nearly rear ended by two 18-wheelers while i tried to slow the vehicle so that the rpm's were not in the critical zone.i stopped at the first auto repair shop i could find, and was told that the transmission was severely damaged and would need to be rebuilt.apparently, the bands were slipping and caused the fluid to overheat and turn extremely dark.the truck now has 58,000 miles, and needs a new transmission.this is the third gm car that i have had that i have had to have major transmission work done.the last one was a buick and had less than 60,000 miles on it.*la

Engine rpm's went to 5500 rpm's, vehicle did not go faster, just the motor.when cruise control was turned off, the vehicle coasted to the side of the road, as if the transmission had went to neutral, pushing on the gas pedal did not help.

No accident took place but the transmission in two separate 2000 model s-10 and an s-10 blazer have gone out in the same exact manner within3,000 miles of each other and both vehicles were primarily driven in two different parts of the country. The slipping of these trannys is so sudden that it actually almost became a safety concern while on the highway. I apologize if this is being sent to the wrong dept. But i would like to find out if chevy has had any recalls on these models as well. Thanks!

Driveshaft carrier bearing gone bad on my 2000 s10 xtreme. Need the entire driveshaft replaced. Only 46000 miles on my car. A driveshaft should last longer than that.

Within days of my purchase of the 2000 s-10 pickup the problem appeared. The truck bounces like it's going over a bump everytime the vechicle starts out from a stop, it has an automatic transmission.i have taken this back to the dealer several times, they are telling me that because this truck has a two piece driveshaft and that this is how it is supposed be.i am 52 years old and have been driving chevrolet since i was 16, i've had trucks with two piece driveshafts before and never had this problem.i contacted general motors and filed a complaint and after five months they sent a regional rep out he said this is how this vechicle was designed to perform, i drove another similiar truck on the lot and it did the same thing.nothing has been done to correct this problem.ihave observed the drive shaft by lying on the ground next to the truck as it starts out, you can see the drive shaft moving in the carrier bearing violently.this is of great concern because if the drive shaft should break towards the front it could cause the back of the truck to pole vault and cause a serious accident, worse at higher speeds. I will not allow anyone else to drive this truck because i feel it's a accident waiting to happen.this is very concerning because general motors will not correct this problem on any trucks let alone admit there is one.i'm hoping you will investigate this problem and work gm to get this fixed before people get killed, if it hasn't happend already.i feel that any design problem or defect with the drivetrain of any vechicle is very serious, even if i trade this truck off this will be a problem for someone else and i'm going on record with you hoping to save a life.just for your info i have been trained as a auto mechanic and worked in this field for 15 years, and have been very involved in drag racing during this time.i have been trained as a faa licensed airframe and powerplant mechanic and have worked in this field for over 20 years.

Reverse lockout mechanism is non-functional. Dealer indicated it is a design defect and is not repairable. Safety problem because transmission can accidently be put into reverse at highway speeds (70 mph ) causing complete transmission failure and loss of vehicle control. Reverse is on same leg as 5th gear overdrive. Emergency passing requires rapid down shifting to 4th gear or 3rd gear. I have used a 5th to 3rd gear emergency passing method since discovering the defect. The problem with 5th to 3rd is that 1st gear can accidently be selected. That will cause engine failure or loss of vehicle control. I would have pressed this issue with chevrolet further but have not because it is a leased vehicle and is scheduled to be returned jan 2003. I still do consider it a significant safety issue and owners should be made aware of the resulting dangers of this design defect.dt

On 2 different occasions within the past month, the 4wd has engaged while driving.the truck sounded as if the truck was running in 4 wd while on bare roads.this occurred during normal weather and driving conditions--once while driving about 30 mph getting off an interstate ramp and the other at 55 mph on a main road.after coming to a complete stop, putting the truck into 4wd, then into 2wd and backing up, the 4wd disengaged and ran normally.gm has recommended taking it to a dealership.

I have a 2000 chevy zr2.both seat latches used to recline seats have broken off.i complained to a local dealership and the cost for the repair was quoted as $250 per seat.this is the third s-10 i have owned and am disappointed in the cheat metal used and the repair cost.the plastic third door handle also broke which was a $75.00 repair.my seats will have to stay broken.

When pressing on the brakes seat tracks snap, causing driver seat to go to the rear. Cause unknown. Dealer notified.

The driver and passenger side seat tracks are faulty, failure of the drivers seat to stay secured in position caused the seat to jerk backwards while driving removing the drivers foot from the accelerator pedal resulting in the vehicle slowing at an intersection, the passengers seat had the same problem prior to the driver seat malfunction with more frequency of failure.nlm

Passenger side seat fails to lock and slams foreward upon deceleration, this is a design function according to bartow chevrolet , seat must be forcefully slammed back, to it's full rear position in order to lock anywhere on the sliding carriageif the seat has been tilted foreward to access the rear storage area i.e. Install child in rear seat , slam passenger seat fully back, or it will not lock and will slide passenger into dashboard when decelerating ,even an adult would probably not survive an airbag deployment at point blank range.

Tracks of driver's seat have broken 3 times, passenger's side twice. Vehicle at dealer at this time.

Inquired about seat tracks and braking problem at dealer, they state no recalls

Recliner handles have broken, not the plastic handles, but the metal rod has sheered off in plastic handle, has occered twice on drivers side and once on passenger side. After dealer fixed first time handles were stiff and had to release tension on seat to operate(i.e. Sit forward to operate). Driver side broke again not fixed because warranty has expired, but shows design or materials flaw.

The handles that recline the back portion of the seat snapped off on both sides within a month of each other with little use. The geared portion remained inside the plastic handle.

Passenger's seat would let go on trackwhile driving, would not remain locked. Took to dealership, and was repaired with a new mechanism. Butproblem was not solved. The seat was finally repaired at the third attempt.

Front passenger seat on 2000 chevrolet s-10 does not lock in position, i believe this to be a safety issue and know of several other s-10 owners with same problem, yet no recall has been issued.*nlm

Drivers side seat will not lock and when applying brakes it will slide backward resulting in not being able to stop at light and stop signs

The passenger seat would not properly lock to the seat track, and the consumer believes it was a major safety problem.

Dt*: the contact stated the driver's seat did not stay in place and was not stable.the service dealer replaced the seat and the new seat had the same problem.the vehicle had not been back to the service dealer to attempt another seat.

Plastic seat latch and actuator breaks very easily causing the seat to be in the wrong position possibly at the time of the break. The passenger side broke at 32k then the driver's side broke at 49k.to fix the problem the whole seat has to come apart so the labor is around 2 hrs then cost around $245 to fix and soon to break again. The actuator needs to be of a stronger material. A discussion page for s-10 owners zr2.com has 2 pages of complaints on this one item. This inferior plastic part needs to be recalled! gm does not want to recall this because the s-10's are no longer in production. Please help us solve this problem by recalling this part. Thank you very much.

While driving andwith no warningpassenger's seat will move back and forward, and will not stay in locked position. Dealer notified.

The driver's seat has not been working properly for several months. The seat will not stay locked in place and this has created a dangerous situation, especially in intersections, when the truck has been in motion. Now that this has happened several times, i've been especially careful & prepared to move the seat back forward so i can again reach the pedals. My solution for the time being - placing a wooden 2x4 piece behind the seat so it will stay fixed. It's working, but it is very inconvenient getting into or out of the seat.will try to repair or take to a shop if a recall is not mandated.

While driving, head lights flickered on and off, and have gone completely out without coming back on. Dealer stated it was normal and there was no fix. Consumer states the seat belt was jammed, and also the passenger seat would not lock into place

The passenger side seat of my 2000 s10 pickup does not catch after you move it forward to gain access to the back of the seats.in order to get catch, i have to push as hard as i can back into the full back position.if this is not done and i make a sudden stop the passenger and seat are thrown forward toward the windshield.when i took it to the dealer the first time this happened they said the could not find anything wrong with the passenger seat but did fix the driver's seat that was doing the same thing.i have seen similar reports on some websites about s10's.this has been going on since i have owned the vehicle.since i am now aware of the problem i know how to avoid it but it is a problem that should be fixed by the manufacturer.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s10. The drivers seat slipped off track and extended to the rear seat while driving approximately 25 mph over a bump in the road or a pot hole. The vehicle was previously repaired by the dealer per the warranty and again under an extended warranty. The vin was not available. The first failure mileage was 25,000 and the current mileage was 135,000. The second failure occurred at 70,000 miles. Updated 2/22/10 the consumer stated the seat would move when braking hard or he had to make a sudden stop. Updated 06/10/10.

The passenger seat cannot be latched in position until it is moved to the full rearward position.as this is an extended cab truck there may be a box or something similar behind the seat.in this case the passenger cannot latch the seat resulting in the passenger sliding towards the dash if the brakes are applied.about the only way to discover this is when it happens the first time and your passenger is only stopped by the seatbelt.if they were not wearing their seatbelt then they would probably hit the dash.no vehicle i have ever owned has had such a system.

Driver's power seat broke and went into reclining position.

Three days after purchasing a new chevrolet s10 pick up my cousin was sitting in the passenger seat and when i came to a stop he slid forward, his body pressing against the dash. What he told me was that the seat would not lock in place. I have taken it back to the dealer five times in the span of three months for problems with this seat. They did the following"fourth time in, floor bent causing seat tracks to bind [bend] removed right seat trim to torque bolts to specs given by tech line - did not work. Removed seat to shim seat up a corner at a time.did not work. Bent floor up (1') inch.worked for a while. Called tech line. Got metal plates to reinforce floor. Drilled out plates to reinforce floor.drilled out plates & installed with shims to align seattracks as per technical assistance center (tac) recommendations. Ed phelps, district service manager, involved with repairs." today i was told by a manufacturer representative that there was a "bulletin" issued concerning s10 seats and that i could find it on your site. What's going on. And is my truck safe for my passengers?

Seat latch popped off while adjusting the seat. Vehicle was not in motion.manufacturer was notified.

I bought the chevy with only 30,000 miles on it.but ever since the beginning the third brake light has never worked and i always replace the fuses and the little light bulbs. Tailgate straps broke when opening tailgate causing damage to tailgate when it hit bumperalsodrive side recliner lever broke and third door latch broke.

My tailgate supports both snapped at the same time my son was crawling out of the back of the truck and tumbled to the ground. Also shortly after i purchased the truck in 2001 both sides of my seats the recliner knobs both broke. I also have tried several attempts to turn my air bags off on the passenger side and they won't go off.

The reclining mechignition on both seat are made of very cheap metal, and both have snapped off at the seat itself. Also you can be driving down the road and the seat will slide back after releasing itself from the locked position. And the third door handle is plastic and breaks when trying to open it in the cold weather.

Both handles on seat back adjuster broke.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s10. While driving 26 mph around an s curve, the brakes pedal was applied, but seized. The contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into an embankment and creek. The air bags did not deploy. The driver was not wearing a seat belt and sustained neck, nose, and eye injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The manufacturer and dealer were not contacted. The cause of the failures was not determined. The failure mileage was 230,000.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s10. While driving various speeds, the brake warning indicator illuminated. Also, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was oil leaking between the brake hose and front passenger wheel. The technician replaced the washer for the brake hose, but the failure recurred. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 99v220000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 131,000.

The brake lines burst while driving down the road under normal driving conditions and the brakes failed resulting in no braking power. Inspection by a mechanic determined that the brake lines had suddenly failed during braking and the fluid had drained out resulting in an immediate loss of braking power during my braking. Was driving at about 30 mph on a city street when i started to brake and they failed, was able to stop without injury due to manual transmission engine braking and a very bad parking brake.

Applied brakes 200+ feet from stop sign. Road surface was bumpy. Abs malfunctioned and gave no braking. Stopped vehicle with hand brake with slight overshoot of stop line. Removed fuse from abs unit and have driven since with manual braking ignoring dash warning lights indicating that abs wasn't working. This was a problem noticed prior to this incident and occurred only when brakes were applied on bumpy surfaces.

Engine failure - had to be rebuilt at app. 75000 miles - both sides of cab bottom rear rusted out - first time brake failure 2013 - put brake on to put the truck in drive no brakes front right - aug 2014 brake failure - put brake on to put in drive no brakes.

Drivingnormally, pressed the brake pedal and it went to the floor; fortunately, i was close to home and no traffic that i managed to roll slowly home. Rusty brake lines causing brake fluid to leak by driver side door. Tried brakes again- totally not functional. Ironically read article about gm's problem with rusty break lines in their older model trucks. Making it a point to notify nhtsa that this problem affects s-10s as well as the bigger models. Conversations with friends indicate to me that this effects a lot of drivers. All gm truck owners should be alerted to problem. Under different conditions with higher speeds or traffic or pedestrians, this could have turned into a catastrophe.

Went to slowdown to turn into a business and the brakes failed due to a center brake line blown that feeds the rear brakes.

My 2000 chevrolet started to activate the abs when stopping, but only within the last 5 mph before stopping,i did some research and found that this was a known issue and there is currently a tsb, 020525006, open for the issue.is followed the tsb as i am mechanically inclined, test drove the truck and nearly ran into the wall on the back side of my garage.i pulled the fuse to the abs module and the truck stops without any issue.i also found a recall for all of the chevrolet full size trucks, model year 1999-2002.the description of the issue is the exact same as the issue i am dealing with.i also found out that the brake configuration is the same as the full size trucks.there are s10's with a different configuration, but mine is the same as the full size trucks.i am currently driving with the abs disconnected.to get the vehicle inspected, i am going to put it back in so that i can get the truck inspected as i do not have the time to get it fixed.the fix for this i believe is to have the hub replaced as that is where the corrosion exists.

Both rear hydraulic brake lines ruptured at the flare fitting entering each caliper within 2 weeks of each other. The dealer was unable to replace the first one, right rear, because chevrolet informed them that "the part did not exist!" the dealer was forced to reflare the old line. Within 1 week, it broke again in the same spot. I replaced the line with an aftermarket one myself. Less than a week later, the other rear brake line (left rear) ruptured at the flare in the same spot as the right rear, entering the caliper. I replaced it myself and took the oem broken line to viva motors to inform them to inform chevrolet that there was a potential serious defect in chevrolet s-10 rear brake lines. The service manager advised me to call chevrolet myself since they (chevrolet) wouldn't listen to him. Since chevrolet's southwest area zone representative had previously told me to "go pound sand"i figured why bother with him. I feel the odds of two oem brake lines failing within 2 weeks of each other are astronomical and since chevrolet chose to ignore the incidents, i'd better contact you to investigate further. Hopefully, mine was an isolated case but i doubt it because as i said, the odds are astronomical and the sw area zone rep chose to say the part didn't exist rather than admit he had a serious life threatening problem. In reality, how can he say the truck never had brake lines? i smell a rat and would like your organization to check into it. If further investigation saves 1 life, this is well worth our efforts. Fortunately, i was able to stop safely both times my hydraulic system suffered massive failures but i will say, i think the failures took a few years off my life and absolutely caused some soiled pants. I'm not a chronic complainer by any stretch of the imagination but i'm not stupid either and chevrolet has problem with at least one of its trucks and is choosing to hide its head in the sand it wants me to go pound. Thanks for your efforts, john mullen.

Failure is not permanent. Abs causes brakes to shut off for about 1 second on one or more wheels, causing vehicle to either suddenly swerve to one side, possibly entering oncoming traffic, or extends stopping distance so vehicle rolls into intersection. Initiated by sharp bumps , particularly potholes. Not consistent, hard to reproduce if attempting to. Several other owners have confirmed to me that they also have seen this. No accident yet, three near accidents, including swerve in to opposite traffic lane (no oncoming traffic just then). Unpredictable and tricky problem, hits when you are not expecting it.

Abs light comes on at high speeds, won't go off until shutting offcar.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s10. The contact stated that while driving at 5 mph and attempting a u-turn, the brakes began to loose pressure abnormally. In order to gain control of the vehicle, he continued to pump the brakes until they returned to normal operation. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised him that there were no current recalls on the particular component. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him that the electronic abs would need replacing to correct the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. I think vehicle is to heavy for brake system (crew cab) centurion design. Heat that comes from engine is excessively hot and is dangerous because some time i am dosing off because of the heat. I have to turn on air conditioner in the winter time in order to maintain the heat off out the cabinet. Dealer has being notified several times and telling me that this is normal. Astrovan have the same engine and no heat comes in into the cabinet. My truck dials are in off position, in cool indicator and heat comes from the ventilation at 98 degrees. The feet get rellay hot and without realizing i am dosing off. I think this very dangerous while driving, unless you drive with the window open or have your air conditioner on in order to cool this air. I alredy asked them as to why i was not told that this is " the way they manufacture this cars (crew ca). If i would have being told this, i would have not purchased this car. I do not live in alaska were i would need constant heat at all the time.

I was parking my truck in my apt parking structure after work on 9/14/02, upon finding a parking space i made a 3 point turn to get into the parking space.i reversed then stopped and placed the truck in drive as i was about to pull forward into the parking space.at that point i barely touch the gas expecting to coast into the space and then suddely the motor just started revving up.i didn't think twice and just jumped on the brake with both feet but the truck wouldn't stop. We ended up jumping the cement parking stopper on the ground, which liftedthe front end into the air about 2-3 feet, and sent us smashing into the block wall directly infront of us.i now have $2,200 worth of front end damage, and am really worried about driving that truck again.

When applying brakes on small bumps in the road or uneven surface, the abs will engage, causing the pedal to drop and a decrease in stopping ability results.

When brakes applied at low speed they did not work. The pedal went to the floor with no stopping . The system was inspectedby medved chevrolet and nothing was found wrong. This has happen once . Theincident is very similar to the silverado recall 05v379000. I also own a silverado.

Dt: while driving at a low speed, about 5 mph, owner went to a fast food line andpushed the brakes and the pedal was stiff. There was a pulsation in the brakes, and extended stopping was required. Owner had to pull out of line to keepvehicle from hitting the car in front. The owner then pushed the brakes, and they worked just fine. The problem only occurred when the owner was going at slow speeds.the problem happened in all weather and road conditions. The owner was aware that there was a known problem with the abs sensor, and was wondering when the recall will take place.

When brakes were applied the car would shake; car taken to dealership to have the brakes checked; 2 rear rotors were warped and replaced; left the dealership and the same problem still existed.did not have time to take back as i was leaving on vacation.in traveling on the freeways and in the mountains the hotter the brakes got , the more the car would shake when the brakes were applied, and todaythe car continues to have this same problem.when i arrived at my destination, i contacted a cheverolet dealership nearby and spoke to the service person and they really didn't want to touch the brakes and suggested that it would be better to take the car to service where i bought it.today i'm taking the car to the dealership for the brakes to be checked again as the warranty is about to expire. Cable straps that hold the tailgate horizontal to the ground when the tailgate is in the down position have rusted through and will no longer hold the tailgate in the horizontal position.there was a recall on this in approximately june of 2006. I received a card in the mail, took the vehicle in to the chevrolet dealer, and they advised me that parts were not available. This happened twice. I kind of gave up, until i discovered the part failure earlier this year. Unfortunately i have misplaced my card that they sent in the mail. Upon failure of this part, i took my vehicle in to a chevrolet dealer in september of 2014. They knew about the recall, so ran my vin # and said my vehicle vin# was not part of the recall.perhaps general motors didn't recall enough of the vin#s to find all of the part failures.

While standing on the tailgate of my s-10 pickup, the left supporting cable broke. The cable on the other side held so there was no injury or damage. My inspection of the breakage revealed the multistranded steel cable had become heavily rusted and thereby weakened. The cable is covered by plastic tubing which can be easily abraded by repeated opening and closing of the tailgate. Moreover the cable is obviously made from unprotected metal ie. Zinc-dichromate at best, rather than ganvanized or stainless. (zinc-dichromate sacrifices itself to moisture over a short period of time). I went the area dealer who, after checking to see it was on the recall list, quoted over $100.00 to replace both the left and right cables. I learned some larger truck models already had recalls for this problem.i called gm and after a day was told they would split the costs with me which i told them was unacceptable as i considered the problem to of a saftey related nature stemming from poor design which essentially made the product unfit for it's intended use.it remains unrepaired at this time.

The cables on the liftgate broke off when the owner went to open it.the manufacturer was contacted by consumer and is aware of the problem.

Both tailgate cables snapped in half when i sat on the tailgate of my 2000 chevrolet s10 pickup truck.the multi stranded cables had rusted in two. There was evidence that most of the strands in the cable had previously rusted in two prior to the total failure.

My family and i were packing to go camping and while loading the bed of my s-10 pickup i placed a 40 pound tent on the tailgate and when i turned around i heard a load clunk and both tailgate cables broke. After i picked up the tent from the ground and lifted the tailgate i noticed that when the tailgate fell it fell on the rear bumper and dented it all the way across. I took the truck to my dealer and they said it was not covered under a recall even though the full-size pickups do have a recall on this item. I replaced the cables at my own cost and it was not cheap or easy. I also paid to have my tailgate repaired for $500.

Tailgate cable on model year 2000 s-10 pickup truck broke

I own a 2000 s-10 pickup i had the tailgate open and i sat on it and the tailgate straps broke and i feel to the ground i already have back problems and when i fell i hurt my back and had to have treatment done on my back by my chiropractor. My husband called the chevy company and told them that the straps broke and asked if there was a recall on them they said yes but not on thes-10 only on the sierras and silverados. They would do nothing to solve this problem. So i went into the recall site and it said they had 42 complaints on the s-10 and sonomas on the 2000 year i don't understand why nothing is being done to fix these if they have had this many complaints i have talked to 2 other people that have this same problem they said they just never took the time to file a complaint. So how many others are there out there like this ? i feel very strongly that they should be responsable for fixing this.thank you beverly ustaszewski.

2000 s-10 tailgate cable/latch assembly failure.

2000 chevy s-10 pickup truck (approx 35k miles) tailgate cables have snapped at midpoint, approximately where they are forced to bend while the tailgate is in closed position.fortunately, there was no load on the tailgate at the time but the in-use failure puts the tailgate at risk to fall off the truck while in motion potentially endangering a vehicle following me.i see from an earlier nhtsa recall, other website discussions and by the shear lack of replacement parts available, that this component failure is not an isolated incident.

When the consumer lowered the tailgate, the right cable snapped allowing the tailgate to fall.after several weeks the left cable broke.this model was not one that the manufacturer was recalling .please describe details.

The tailgate support cables corroded and broke.a recall was issued for the cables, however the vehicle was outside of the remedy scope.both of the support cable attachment ends sat exposed vertically when the tailgate was closed allowing moisture to enter the cable ends.the black plastic coating on the cables allowed moisture to collect in the loop formed by the cables when the tailgate was closed, trapping the moisture in with the metal cables causing a corrosion problem. *sc

I have a 110lb rottwieller who was standing in in box of the truck with his front feet on the tail gate when the cables broke. The dog came out ok, the tail gate was damaged. When i checked with gm canada i was told the recall was only for the full size trucks and to date there were no other cases of these cables breaking on s-10 or sonoma trucks. I hate being lied to...i have found hundreds maybe thousands of complaints on various forums. Please don't let up on gm. To replace these parts i'm looking at $170. Plus labour. Thanks to gm engineering the whole assembly must be purchased, not just the cables.

My daughter was letting my tailgate down on my 2000 chevy s-10 pickup when both support cables snapped. While opening the tailgate both tailgate support cables broke.vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic determinedthat the tailgate support cables needed to be replaced.

The tailgate supports (cables going from the truck bed to the tailgate) got pinched between the bed and tailgate causing them to corrode and eventually break when weight is put on them. One of these cables broke while an 80 pound boy was sitting on the tail gate. The cables have not been replaced and are available.

The bedliner was installed at the car dealer ship at time of purchase. At that time we were told that you can fill gas containers in the back of the truck because there was a problem with static electricity igniting the gas. There is also a sticker on the bedliner warnining of this problem. There also seem to be another problem problem. After stopping to gat gas at a station on i-95 outside of washington and with no flamible materials in the truck the bed liner ignited in flames about 1 mile down the highway. I belive that because it is an over the rim bed liner and the fill spot for gas is just 8" away from the edge of the liner gas fumes during the filling process get traped under the liner and can be ignighted by static. Because of the type of liner there is a gap between the truck boby of about a 1/4" all the way around the truck. Becauce that gap is only 8" away from where the fuel is put into the gas tank fumes are getting onder the liner. This problem needs to be looked into. If fumes can be ignited that are in the back of the truck then certianly fumes that get trapped under the liner can ignite.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s-10. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle experienced transmission failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for repairs to the transmission when the technician noticed the frame was cracked and deteriorating. The vehicle was not repaired but was at the auto body shop waiting for the new frame to be available. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Noticed noise from under vehicle during turning and going over bumpsfound crack in frame rail on both the drivers and passengers side of the vehicle where the independent front suspension is mounted to the frameframe had to be welded and a strap put in place to eliminate further cracking.

Consumer was told by frame shop that manufacturer's welds were not strong enough asthey should be. This has destroyed frame. Vehicle has never been in a crash, and vehicle is considered a total loss.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet s10. Upon inspecting the vehicle, it was noticed that the front frame was cracked and deteriorated to the point that it may fracture. The contact stated that cracks developed on the frame and the motor mount was not welded to the frame properly. The cracking progressed to the point that the frame was also deteriorating on the front driver and passenger sides. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the frame should have been welded all the way around the vehicle and it was only welded at the top. The dealer diagnosed that the front framing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

The front wheel bearings in my 2000 s-10 4x4 keep going out. The dealer has replaced the right and left bearings before the warranty ran out and i've replaced the right twice and the left once myself. *nlm

Dismissed as road hazard, the puncture's location--just below the crown--indicates to me a structural weakness in the tirewall.on another vehicle with uniroyals, the rubber on the crown was eaten away by broken glass (bottle) as if chewed by a dog.new tires should not be so soft, so incapabale of handling ordinary and commonroad hazards.i received no satisfaction from the dealer or the tire's rep.i was on my own and make this report to warn others that tires which cost in excess of $100each should perform to a higher and safer standard.and not unlike the current firestone controversy, tires are made to ride softer so to compensate for the stiff rides so typical with the new muscle trucks and suv's.simply, this should have never happened.the tire's rubber chemistryand construction could have endangered my family's health and well being.gner. Spare tire rack cable failed allowing spare tire to depart from under side of truck.

While driving spare tire fell from under the vehicle. Dealer notified.

Water leaks into the passenger's floorboard. Truck has been taken in for repair 5 times and it still leaks water into the floor.

From a stationary position at a stop light i proceeded through a moderate dip into the middle of the busy intersection. While traveling through the intersection the spare tire completely fell off of underside of 2000 chevy s-10 truck. Upon inspection, i noticed that the cable snapped approximately 1/8 inch inside of the connector at the end of the cable. I retained as many of the parts as i could find including the end where the cable snapped (they were in the middle of a busy intersection), cable and winch are still attached to car, and spare tire remains in the bed of the truck. Car turning behind me luckily was not following closely and was able to negotiate around the tire rolling through the intersection.

The spare tire which was mounted onto the vehicle by a cable unexpectedly broke and caused the spare tire to fall to the ground while the vehicle was in motion.dealer had been contacted. There was no accident or injuries associated with this incident.

Door panel molded plastic mounting clips have broken.2 screws behind the door handle are the stress points for closing doors.the plastic clips used by these screws have broken off fron the door panel.everytime i close the door, panel pulls away from door.other than panels clips this is the only way it secures to the door.panel clips are not designed to undergo the stress of closing the door.having the clips out of plastic with no metal reinforcement they break causing the panel to come loose.materials need a metal reinforcement to with stand the every day stress of closing doors.both driver and passenger have identical flaws.middle console has same mounting clips and has also broken in indentical fashion.plastic is not acceptable for such areas of high stress.

While traveling on highway throttle becomes stuck without prior warning. Dealership is aware of problem.while slowing down to exit the freeway, vehicle suddenly accelerated to a speed well over 50 mph.even with consumers foot off the gas vehicle still accelerated.consumer had to shut the vehicle off to stop.took vehicle to mechanic and was informed the throttle plate bolts had come out of the throttle plate causing the throttle to lock in an open position.*jg

Engine rpm's went to 5500 rpm's, vehicle did not go faster, just the motor.when cruise control was turned off, the vehicle coasted to the side of the road, as if the transmission had went to neutral, pushing on the gas pedal did not help.

The vehicle has been experiencing a throttle response problem, while driving the engine rpm's do not drop off fast enough on up shifts causing the engine to race.scc

While driving, vehicle surges/accelerates, during city driving/slower speeds, rpms stick between 3300 & 3500 rpms, releasing gas pedal, braking, taking out of gear has no effect, have to turn car off or wait, has almost caused crashes, have had to dealer twice, cannot verify condition. Currently have auto data recorder on vehicle.

Cruise control cannot be shut off via brake, only via master on/off switch. Yesterday, even the master switch would not cut off the cruise control and it stuck in the accelerate position causing a run away vehicle situation. I had to smoke the brakes to stop an kill engine. Vehicle has been towed to local chevy dealership. This hapened first when the truck was only 2 weeks old and then again yesterday twice. Yesterday was the first time for the master switch to fail also. Very dangerous!!! f.

While drivingvehicle suddenly accelerated. Accelerator suddenly stuck when applying gas on an incline.throttle became stuck, causingvehicle to strike a wall . Consumer tried to contact gmc, but had no luck.there was one person injured in accident.

The cruise control was not shutting off with application of the brake pedal only the master on/off switch, however the on/off switch failed to shut off the cruise control resulting in sudden acceleration. *mjs

Cruise control was set to 55 mph when vehicle started accelerating at a rapid speed.*mrthe consumer turn the cruise control off and applied the brake but that did not stop the vehicle from accelerating.the consumer had to turn the ignition off and coast to the shoulder.

Driver was going up hill on gravel roadand shifted into 3rd gear , driver heardengine rev high.let foot off the accelratorand vehicle did not stop.applied brakes ,rear wheel still spinning, causing driver to lose control of vehicle, and roll over 2-3 times. Please provide further information.

This report is being submitted by sgt j passiglia of the independnece, mo police traffic safety unit.this vehicle was involved in a vehicular accident .the driver reported that as he pulled into a driveway the accelerator stuck causing him to lose control.he applied the brake but the truck would not stop.the vehicle struck a pedestrian.his injuries are very serious.possible fatality.the driver was not impaired.the physical evidence was consistent with the driver's statement.we have impounded the truck and will have it inspected.you can reach me at (816)325-7292 or email [email protected].

The gas pedal sticks intermittently while the vehicle is in motion.that is, while driving normally, and i press on the gas pedal to accelerate the vehicle, the gas pedal will not release after i have taken my foot off the pedal. The depressed pedal will remain in this position until i have pumped it several times.only after i have repeatedly pumped the gas pedal will it be released and returned to its normal position.while pumping the pedal, i must simultaneously apply the brake to decelerate the vehicle.

Gas pedal stuck and brakes were hard to press when trying to slow down.this causedconsumer to hit a tree.also, airbags did not deploy, anddrivers side seat belt didnot properly restrain. It did not lock intoposition, causingconsumer to sustain a head injury.dealer has not been able to duplicate the problem.*ml
