Takata inflators--air bag light is on and stays on even after i had already had it reset,the dome light blows fuses more than it should sometimes 3-4 times a month,the blinkers act funny sometimes and the seat belts hang up and u have to pull on them a few times to get them to release so you can buckle them,the transmission grinds when you put it into reverse,the clutch fan came apart and i had to replace it and most of this happened when i was sitting still i have the recall#'s(n970033--n980043/nhtsa#98v150
The airbag light constantly stays on.the dealer says the aced derm needs to be replaced at a cost of approximately $450.00.the owner's manual states if the airbag light stays on, one should contact the dealer.i pulled the fuse so the airbag wouldn't deploy unexpectedly and as such i haven't had the protection provided by an airbag.i feel the computer modules should be replaced by the manufacturer at no cost to me since they should last longer than 27,000 miles. If the bag accidently deploys while i'm driving, it could cause an accident with injuries to me, my passengers or other persons.i feel a malfunctioning airbag system is a serious safety hazard and should be repaired by the vehicle manufacturer or the airbag manufacturer.

I had been noticing my brakes felt soft i called the dealer, and they said there were no problems, then last week my wife was driving it and the brakes failed and she was in a bad wreck and the air bags did not deploy.
Air bag did not deploy after rear end impact from a1 1/2 ton box truck and subsequent impact into another parked vehicle directly in front of the impacted vechicle, probably at a high rate of speed from parked to immediate acceleration. Air bag did not deploy upon impact into car directly in front of impacted vehicle. Although seat belts were used, in a rear end impact, the thrust of weight is to the rear which makes seat belts fundamentally useless in restraining body weight towards the rear. Additionally, impact with the vehicle directly in front of me resulted in 200 pounds of weight suddently and dramatically being thrust foward which did not prevent injury to my head, back, leg and arm.

The contact owns a 1995 chevrolet s10. While driving 25 mph, the brakes failed to respond and the vehicle crashed into a tree. The anti lock brake system warning light illuminated prior to the failure and the air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000. Updated 07/28/16*lj

Other vehicle failed to yield right of way. Blazer broad sided other vehicle at about 50 mph. After impact blazer rolled landed upside down. Seat belts held. But airbag did not deploy. We were to by tow truck driver that it wasn't a direct hit. Off to the right. That it would have to bee a direct hit for the airbag to deploy. I was unable to get information from gm. Seems like with that much impact the airbag would deploy.
Dealer replace the motor and fix the air conditioner a week ago the motor is not working right and air conditioner don't work the air bag light keep coming on.

The vehicle has an ongoing problem with the oil coolant line failing while driving at various speeds. This failure results in the vehicle stalling, but it will restart within minutes.the vehicle was driven to the dealership, where the failure recurred. The coolant line has been replaced twice. The first failure occurred at 30,000 then 60,000 and now at 120,000. It seems to be occurring every 30,000 miles.the intake was leaking oil. *sc

The coolant used in the cooling system is dex-cool.then engine overheated, so i decided to add more dex-cool.when i opened up the radiator, i noticed this rust-colored dirt-like substance packed inside the radiator.when the dealer that serviced my truck inspected the cooling system, every component had this substance packed in it (water pump, heating core, thermostat, all hoses, radiator, engine block, etc.).they could not clean this substance out of the components and had to replace the whole cooling system. Furthermore,inspection of the components of the cooling system shows that they are in perfect working condition other than the substance that can not be removed.the substance is not rust or corrosion because the components are not rusted or corroded.this substance, in my opinion, is solidification of the dex-cool coolant.i currently have all the components that were replaced, as well as the substance that still remains inside them. According to the manual of my truck, the cooling system using dex-cool requires no service for 100,000 miles.previous to this incident, the radiator was never opened.i had only added dex-cool to the overflow container to maintain the proper coolant level.the dealer where i had my truck serviced (dudley martin chevrolet, manassas, va) had no explanation as to what has caused this.i contacted gm customer service and they have provided little help and no explanation.i previously filled out a questionnaire, describing this exact problem.i received an odi# 700836.it is now 6 months later and this exact same problem is starting to occur in the replaced components.this is a serious reoccurring problem that needs to be resolved.

While driving, fan came off in 1995 chevrolet blazer and damage the radiator.this is similar to campaign 95v-180.if hood would have been open, this could have been a hazard.
I own a 1995 s10 (4x4) pick up. I purchased this vehicle new in 1994. I had to replaced the remote oil filter lines 3 times!!! my third set is currently leaking. The remote oil filter lines fail where the rubber hose is crimped to the aluminum tubing. This is a very poor design. Apparently, chevy doesn't acknowledge the problem.
Oil lines from the oil filter houseing to the radatior have a section of rubber line.at the fittings from steel lines to rubber they leak oil just wondering if this is a common problum? thank you.

Engine pistons malfunctioned, causing a clucking noise, and may have caused the engine to sieze. Thiscould result in a crash.please provide further information.
On and about april 15th of 1999, i had my oil changed at my service station. They told me that i was low on coolant and they spotted a leak on the outside of the cylinder head. This leak was very small and almost un-noticeable. I had them fill the coolant tank and continued to monitor the problem. I contacted my chevrolet dealer and was told that the truck had just gone out of warranty. Since that time the leaking problem has continued to get worse. I have been able to find out that there have been "many" reports of this same problem. I work for a napa auto parts store and our machine shop is a member of a national company that has specification stats for engines and they have a bulletin issued on my problem which states it is a casting problem that was caused when the cylinder heads were manufactured. I really do believe that gm knows about this and should make good for repairs. It has nothing to do with maintenance. It is a flaw in the casting of the head!
During a regular state safety inspection, it was discovered that my engine had coolant leakage from the head gasket.repair will entail removal and machining of the head, at a cost of $750.00.this is a common problem with the 2.2 litre chevrolet engine and has been the subject of a technical advisory for the 2.2 litre engines installed in cavaliers, but not those installed in the s-10.since this is an engine design defect, i believe that gm should treat the s-10 problems in the same manner in which it does the cavalier problem.

When getting into vehicle consumer can smell anti-freeze.it is leaking onto the engine from the rear of the head gasket block. Sometimes it makes the engine smoke.dealer notified, and informed consumer that it is a common problem.*ml

Twice under warranty i had gm fix an oil leak from the oil pan gasket and the third time it was out of warranty so gm would not work on it.the oil leak has gotten worse.i feel since the problem was noticed at 12k miles and a new gasket put on and at 32k miles gm again worked on it but just torqueing the oil pan bolts tighter that they should be held accountable!they told me there would not be a problem after the warranty ran out to follow up on any further leaks!well, after warranty it began to leak again but this time i hit a "wall" with gm!they will not work on it at their cost!this was a problem early in the vehicle's history and persisted.oil is a vital need for an engine to perform... You would think that such a leak would be looked into rather than ignored or shrugged at.please help me with this.my truck is now rolling into the 75k mile range and i would like it to last longer but won't with this very costly repair.

When you take your foot of the accelerater to slow down or turn a corner your engine dies leaving you with no brakes. You step on the brake and it is like stepping on a rock. You cannot stop the vechicle. After talking to two gm service centers, i was told the problem was a defective egr valve. They both have had to replace them in the past. Gm has recalls and service bulletins on the v style engine, but not the z style which i own. Gm knows they have a problem and refuse to do anything about it.

From what i have been able to find out, there is a carbon build up in the engine, and when some of this carbon flakes off it causes the egr valve to stick open slightly. This in turn causes the engine idle very erratically and most of the time causes the engie to stall. This always occurs when slwoing down and stopping which is quite the safety hazard as when the vehicle begins to lose power and stall all the power options such as steering and brakes are also lost.this has almost caused me to rear end people numerous times especially in situations when i have had to stop quickly.i was informed by my mechanic that this actually a recall and wheni contacted chevrolet they said it was not an official recall but if my vehicle had less than 75,000 miles on it i could have the problem fixed. Of course i had more than 75,000 miles and so they refused to do anything.other than this my truck runs great and i like it but it will cost approximately $700-$1000 to have this fixed and in all honesty it is not my fault that my truck did not break until after the 75,000 mark. Instead i am being forced to get a new vehicle and spend money i should not have to because the truck is unsafe to drive and the reapirs are to expensive in comparison to the actual value of the truck.

The egr system continualy failed numerous times. When this failure happened, the idle would flucuate wildly resulting in the loss of the engine vacuum and the loss of power brakes. This happened over 5 times, thankfully on uncrowded streets. The car would often have little to no stopping power when below 20-25 mph. Often i would have to apply the emergency brake to stop the car. The problem was fixed with a replacement of the egr valve, but hopefully this horrible problem wil not occur again. Currently i am in the process of trying to get chevrolet to pay for the replacement, since apparantly this is a result of their bad fuel injectors. Chevrolet has just issued a recall on their fuel injectors which apparantly failed, and lead to carbon buildup on the egr, which causes this tremendous safety problem. Through my own research on other website, such as msn carpoint, it states the the 94-96 models with this enginer report egr and fuel injector replacement. This is a huge safety issue chevrolet should take responsibility for. Thank you.

Leaking fuel tank -- 1995 s-10there is a plasticcover over the front end of the fuel tank. This cover collects trash and water. The frontbottom edge of the fuel tankhas started to rust out. I had been smelling fuel for about a week and had been unable to locate the problem. After finally noticing the leak, i removed the cover and found a small pin hole. When inspecting the hole, it turned into one the size of a pencil eraser.to remedy the problem, i have drilled a hole into the plastic piece so that it will drain out the water that it collects and applied a sealant to the leaking fuel tank.i have not notified gm of this problem as of yet. When i was backing out of driveway i noticed gasoline had dripped onto pavement. I removed the protective shield from the front of the fuel tank and found severe corrosion and a large leak on the bottom of the tank. The protective shield was full ofmoisture, dirt, gravel and fuel.it is scarey to think of how many vehicles are out there that have this corrosion trap still in place. I purchased my pickup from fowler chevrolet in lakeport, ca. A year or so ago, i had it repaired by santa rosa chevrolet in santa rosa, ca for a defective injector that was leaking and prior to that time i could smell a strong odor of gasoline. Within 3 months of having this repair work done, i once again thought i could smell a strong odor of gas on starting and stopping. However, i dismissed it as my imagination until the problem began to occur more often. Prior to the christmas holiday, i had one son look at the engine and he said there was a smell of gasoline and possibly a leak.while with the other son in san carlos at christmas, i left my truck at boardwalk auto center in redwood city, ca for 3 days.their report was that they could find nothing, so they steam cleaned the engine and charged me $95.00, and sent me on my way. However, when i arrived home, the problem was still there. Even with a newly steam cleaned engine, i can smell a strong odor of gasoline when starting and turning off the ignition. After parking my pickup, when walking around it, one can smell a strong odor of gas. They asserted that a bug shield contributed to the failure which caused the hood to fly open, and crack windshield at 55 mph-without warning. $1157 damage, and very nearly an accident! at time of estimate, another s10 hood was in body shop at dennison's for identical reason. If anything, the bugshield aerodynamically pressed down on hood, not up.

The dip stick is rusted! i will have to see if there is rust in my transmission.how could this happen? chevrolet knows this is a problem area and did not tell the consumer.
Transmission locked up on hwy. @ 65mph rear wheels lock for a second and then unlocked which destroyed trans. Paid to have a gm rebuild installed @39000 miles. Rebuild did the same this @42000 miles. Gm said so sorry. Sounds like gm has a major trans. Problem. Did not expect to have trans. Failure at this milage.

The transmission completely failed while on the highway.i had the vehicle towed to a transmission repair facility, and was told that the transmission had water in it, which corroded all of the parts.the source of water in the system was the cooling system for the transmission fluid which runs through the radiator.the line had a hole, and pressure in the radiator forced water into the line causing the failure.i had the transmission rebuilt and an external cooling system installed.the cost for the repairs was approximately $1500.at the time, the vehicle was only three years old, and did not have especially high mileage, yet the transmission repair was not covered under the warranty.

The shifter plate seal on top of the transmission failed. After the third attempt by the dealer to repair the seal, they informed me that the shifter assembly was re-engineered and that i would have to pay for replacement of affected parts. In my belief this should have been a recall since it can cause serious transmission failure due to los of fluid and possible personal injury due to transmission lock up. The driveshaft came apartfrom the u jointwhen the vehicle was in motion, the u joint isattached to the power train. Consumer has yet to have the parts replaced.
Gm call this a constant velocity prop shaft (drive shaft)the design uses 5 u-joints.i had to have the drive shaft rebuilt after 45000 miles.i contacted several shops in the detroit / ann arbor area that specialize in drive shaft repair.they informed me that they have seen several of these shafts with the same problem.none of them has seen a shaft last beyond 50,000 miles.i have a contact at american axle (oem for shaft) who helped in the design for that shaft and was told it was designed to last for 100,000 miles (thats why there are no grease zerks(fittings) on the u-joints).the first repair cost me $250, and the shop did a lousy job because this shaft (which is in two parts) is very difficult to balance.now i must have it repaired again.(i'll never buy a gm product again!!!!!)

I have had a problem with the abs since i got the vehicle, however, i was unfamiliar with abs and thought the problem was normal.when i brake, if i hit a bump, the brakes lock up, and i continue to slide.this has happened on many occasions, on dry and wet pavements and on snow and ice.i came very close (10-15 feet) to sliding into a busy intersection once when this brake problem occurred.i received a recall letter from the manufacturer and when i attempted to have the problem fixed, was told that my particular vehicle was not covered under the recall because it was manufactured at a different plant.i have wasted a lunch hour and a lot of time on the phone trying to get satisfaction from gmc, to no avail, besides putting my life and other's lives on the line whenever i drive.as for the driver's seat problem, this developed about 2 years ago.the lever on the side of the seat which lays the back down and brings it up came off, stripped (it was plastic).now i have no way to adjust my seatback, and every once in a while, it slips back on it's own and i cannot control it.i am sure that one of these days i'll be driving along and my seatback will just fall down.the glove box door broke off the dash.if i have an accident, it will become a missile inside the cab.both the seat and the glove box door are not covered under my warranty from the manufacturer which is known as a "universal" warranty, and which i paid an additional $1300 to obtain, just for problems such as these.

The brakes are very spongy when applied at all times.there is an extended stopping distance which several extra car lengths has to be allowed for in order to stop without a collision.the two near misses i had was i had to leave the road and go to the shoulder in order to keep from having an accident.i also have a 1998 chevrolet astro van and the brakes on it is 100% better.i am real happy with its stopping distance.

Windshield wipers are intermittent, it was taken to the dealership and verified, however, this vin was not included in the recall for the 95 chevrolet blazer 2. Antilock brakes were also inspected and found to be defective by dealership, but again the vin for this vehicle was not included in the recall for the anti-lock brakes for 95 chevrolet blazers. 3. Passenger side rear view mirror has cracked and broke offtwo times. The cracks are originating on the underside of the mirror support. After speaking with the dealership, they indicated to have the same problem with their parts vehicle which is also a 95 chevrolet blazer, and i have talked with two other people who own blazerswho had the same defect. I have also tried to locate a used mirror in junk yards, in altus ok, lubbock, tx, and valdosta ga. None of the junk yards had any, they had the vehicles but the mirrors had already been bought. They second mirror i installed broke off and was dangling by the wires while driving down the interstate at 70mph nearly causing an accident, and not to mention it made it difficult to see drivers on the passenger side of the vehicle while changing lanes.

Since the anti-lock brakes malfunction in 97, i have taken my truck to the 2 local "factory trained" service shops on numerous occasions. I've invested a large sum of money on repairs that did'nt fix the brakes,including safety campaign #99041. The service techs are dumbfounded but admit this same problem occurred on many occasions with the kelsey hayes abs systems. I have spoken to other s10 owners who have encountered the same problem. Since the anti-lock brakes malfunction in 97, i have taken my truck to the 2 local "factory trained" service shops on numerous occasions. I've invested a large sum of money on repairs that did'nt fix the brakes,including safety campaign #99041. The service techs are dumbfounded but admit this same problem occurred on many occasions with the kelsey hayes abs systems. I have spoken to other s10 owners who have encountered the same problem. Despite my constant persistance, the gm dealerships have provided no solution and deny knowledge of recall campaign# 99046. At a loss, i turn to you.

The abs antilocking light on the dash board came on. When i brought the truck to the deliver i was told thatthe bpmv valve had failed and that i had no abs brakes. Then i was informed that it would cost me $1400 to replace this valve. I find this completely unreasonable for a safety system repair. Since then i have found out from other sources that the retail gm price of the valve is only $108.63. I have also heard that there have been problems with the chev s10 abs system. Shouldn't this be repaired under a recall? if not it should as least be repaired at a reasonable cost!
Whenever the abs brakes are applied they fail to engage. Would make turns or slow down and vehicle would keep turning or going straight. When it was raining, applied brakes hard to avoid rearending another vehicle, swerved instead & hit another vehicle. Taking vehicle to dealer to check abs braking system.

Abs brake problems; first the abs warning light came. Taken to dealer and reset. Then about (2) weeks later driver hit a patch of black ice, and had no control. Vehicle spun, entered ditch and struck a vehicle already in a ditch who had same type of spinout. Truck bounced of other vehicle, spun again, and landed front end in ditch.on october 31st, 1997, owner was informed that truck had no front brakes. On november 3rd, the brakes were turned, and the pads were replaced. The problem no longer exists.

Outer front disc pad wore completely out without the wear indicator on the front pads engaging. Resulting in dangerous braking and a very expensive repair. Dealer said that the calipers must have stuck resulting in the damage. If that is the case then every s10 pickup needs to be recalled. This happened on both the left and right sides at the same time. Since the wear indicators on the inner pads did not engage, it lead to an unexpected and dangerous situation with no warning.

We are the owners of a 1995 chevy s10 ls vin number [xxx].we have had several minor problems and a few major problems with the truck in the three years of ownership. The most recent problem is serious and caused a potentially fatal situation, all which have made us unhappy with the truck.i approached a stoplight, where other vehicles were stopped and i proceeded to slow down. That's when i noticed that my brakes were not responding and that my vehicle was not slowing down. I continued to apply the brake in disbelief but still my truck careened on. This all occurred in less than 5 seconds. Before i knew it i was given a choice of either slamming my truck into the car in front of me at 40mph, or taking my chances on the sidewalk, that to my blessing was empty. Desperately, i veered my truck to the right over the sidewalk, over block barriers onto a parking lot praying that the impact would slow my truck down. My truck finally rolled to a stop. Upon inspection of the truck, it turns out that the brakes failed because a plastic part that connects a vacuum line to the brake booster broke. I am shocked and outraged that something like this could happen. If this part fails at any time, there are no power brakes to slow the vehicle. According to the owner''s manual, the part in question never needs servicing and has no replacement interval. What even scarier is that we have had our brakes serviced twice in the past two years. Question to gm and otherwhy did this part break?what could we have done to prevent this incident? have there been similar incidents of this nature with other gm trucks? is this a recall item?over the course of owning our gm truck we have had other mechanical failures, the first was when the inside rear view mirror fell to the floor and now this''brake failure. I have had a problem with the abs since i got the vehicle, however, i was unfamiliar with abs and thought the problem was normal.when i brake, if i hit a bump, the brakes lock up, and i continue to slide.this has happened on many occasions, on dry and wet pavements and on snow and ice.i came very close (10-15 feet) to sliding into a busy intersection once when this brake problem occurred.i received a recall letter from the manufacturer and when i attempted to have the problem fixed, was told that my particular vehicle was not covered under the recall because it was manufactured at a different plant.i have wasted a lunch hour and a lot of time on the phone trying to get satisfaction from gmc, to no avail, besides putting my life and other's lives on the line whenever i drive.as for the driver's seat problem, this developed about 2 years ago.the lever on the side of the seat which lays the back down and brings it up came off, stripped (it was plastic).now i have no way to adjust my seatback, and every once in a while, it slips back on it's own and i cannot control it.i am sure that one of these days i'll be driving along and my seatback will just fall down.the glove box door broke off the dash.if i have an accident, it will become a missile inside the cab.both the seat and the glove box door are not covered under my warranty from the manufacturer which is known as a "universal" warranty, and which i paid an additional $1300 to obtain, just for problems such as these.

The frame rail on our 1995 chevrolet blazer s-10rusted through and broke at the rear suspension forward spring shackle, which was welded onto the frame at the factory. Upon further inspection the entire frame, and the cross members rusted to near nothing, and needed to be replaced.there was no rust on the body, sides or under side. This car had 90,000 miles on it, and was several thousand miles from being mechanically spent. $4500 estimate of repairs.
Vehicle's paint is severely damaged by chemical spotting, problem existed since purchase of vehicle, also paint fading on plastic trim near front/windshield/side mirror casings.

I have three friends that also have late model s-10 vehicles, all of which have had problems with the ball joints.i grease my truck myself(so i know it gets done) every 1500 miles.i was informed by gateway chevy, that all 4 ball joints are bad.after only 48000 miles, i was informed that it just weak parts and they will do nothing about it.well here we are three days later and a friend of mine, doug kuznia, also of fargo, his 1996 s-10 had it's upper ball joint fail and the front wheel buckled over while driving.i feel that this is a safety hazard and they should install better parts.i feel that 48000 miles is not a high mileage vehicle and i should not have to worry about my wheels falling off because general motors doesn't want to install quality parts.if this has been ay help at all, please contact me because all of my friends would also like to respond with complaints.thank you collin gnoinsky

The egr system continualy failed numerous times. When this failure happened, the idle would flucuate wildly resulting in the loss of the engine vacuum and the loss of power brakes. This happened over 5 times, thankfully on uncrowded streets. The car would often have little to no stopping power when below 20-25 mph. Often i would have to apply the emergency brake to stop the car. The problem was fixed with a replacement of the egr valve, but hopefully this horrible problem wil not occur again. Currently i am in the process of trying to get chevrolet to pay for the replacement, since apparantly this is a result of their bad fuel injectors. Chevrolet has just issued a recall on their fuel injectors which apparantly failed, and lead to carbon buildup on the egr, which causes this tremendous safety problem. Through my own research on other website, such as msn carpoint, it states the the 94-96 models with this enginer report egr and fuel injector replacement. This is a huge safety issue chevrolet should take responsibility for. Thank you.

Passenger side rear view mirror has cracked and broke offtwo times. The cracks are originating on the underside of the mirror support. After speaking with the dealership, they indicated to have the same problem with their parts vehicle which is also a 95 chevrolet blazer, and i have talked with two other people who own blazerswho had the same defect. I have also tried to locate a used mirror in junk yards, in altus ok, lubbock, tx, and valdosta ga. None of the junk yards had any, they had the vehicles but the mirrors had already been bought. They second mirror i installed broke off and was dangling by the wires while driving down the interstate at 70mph nearly causing an accident, and not to mention it made it difficult to see drivers on the passenger side of the vehicle while changing lanes.

My wife recently received a recall notice 98043-s on her 1996 chevy s10 blazer to repair the windshield wiper motor circuit board and cover.the recall letter listed certain 1995-96 s10 pickups also.i notified chevrolet customer service, that my vehicle is experiencing the same problem as mentioned in the recall notice my wife received.chevrolet customer service stated that my vehicle is not covered under the recall, and chevy will not financially pay for the repairs.i spoke with a service advisor at a local chevrolet dealer in elk grove.she stated that several chevrolet trucks (s10 and full size), owners have brought their vehicles to their service department for the same problem, and these vehicles were not covered under the recall.these vehicles mentioned are the same year and model, but are not covered under the recall ,checked by vin.i am concerned that the recall notice that was released is not covering all the vehicles that have this problem also.chevrolet customer service file # 990084790.thank you for your assistance with this matter.

I cannot understand why gm does not want to assume responsibility for this obviously defective and possibly fatal defect of the windshield wiper motor solder joint near the wiring harness connector that has cracked causing my wipers to work intermittently.this very serious problem has caused me to have reduced visibility on the highway at a rate of speed of 65 mph.i was in a horrible rain storm that came on all of the sudden and my wipers quit in mid stream!!!!i almost crashed into a semi-truck in order to avoid colliding with the cement barrier.not only was i in the truck but so was my 3 yr old child!i want this problem with all of the defective wiper motors fixed immediately!there are hundreds of lives at stake here.i want to know if gm would rather assume responsibility for the deaths of people that may be affected by their obvious defect, because our vin #'s aren't part of the "campaign" 98v150001.i think that it is horrifying to know that such a mutibillion dollar company doesnt care that because our trucks were manufactured a month prior to the recall specifications on maufactur date, that we shouldn't qualify?i want to know that i matter.i along with so may others have done our part and could have no way shape or form prevented this malfunction from occurring.
