I was driving to a gas station, when i was about a block away from the gas station my vehicle run out of gas. I had to push it to the side of the road leaving it in the bus stop risking a $300 ticket to get gas. Not to mention being run over by pushing vehicle to side of road.after putting 2 gallons of gas in it,i attemptedto start my vehicle, it wouldn't even fire let alone start. I checked my owners manual and the gm service manuals to see if there is a fuel pump reset switch such as ford uses. I called chevy for this information. I was told by chevy mechanic that i had probably burned out my fuel pump for my fuel relay and that this is by design.1) i cannot afford a $450fuel pump, 2) i live in my vehicle, 3) when the vehicle was towed i will be on the streets.being forced to buy parts when you run out of gas is extortion by gm which in the us as far as i know is a felony. I will not live on streets in san francisco therefore suicide is the only option. Gm should pay for my life or the loss thereof for none of this would've happened had their gas gauge been accurate the needle floats across the gauge as a boat without an anchor floats across the ocean.
1997 chev. S10 blazer fuel gauge not reading accurate goes from full to empty to half way to empty. Started using odometer milage to check when to fill up fuel fig. That 19 gal tank getting min. 12mpg=228miles till empty. Daily use is about30-50 miles/day but on12/11/08 went to shopping parked came out and no start.engine cranks but no start. This is 1st time a no start for this car.towed to very goodchev.dealership found fuel pump in tank bad ,but unit is complete fuel pump, fuel gauge, sending module and fuel tank has to be dropped to repair.total bill about $1100.00 just put $3000.00 for new trans guaranted by gm for 3yrs/100,000 miles so replaced fuel pump.if so many people are having problems why is there not a recall on sending unit, and pump? drop me a line with your comments.
