This is a known issue to chevrolet as they have recalled several other makes and models due to a faulty body control module.the steering pump needed to be changed, when the battery was unconnected then reconnected, the bcm faulted, resulting in a complete lock out of the vehicle.the vehicle then needed to be towed away because the key was locked in the ignition.two weeks and $1000 later, still no vehicle and chevy doesn't want to hear anything.they keep saying, sorry but this is not one of the vehicles that was recalled.although other bcms have been recalled, not this one.and they keep repeating this.it isn't a new problem, if you check sites on the internet, it's very common.i think they should be held responsible for their negligence.
Car begin to have difficulty going into park and allowing the ignition key to be removed. Within 1 month car now will not go into park at all without manually going under the hood and moving the shift cable.since the car remains very hot underneath the hood for a while this is very dangerous, especially for a woman, but necessary to remove your keys from the ignition and to put your keys into park.
Started getting a "service tire monitering system " message when car was placed in drive.

After driving, when you go to turn the key/ignition back, it only turns back to where the radio, lights, and wipers stay on. The ignition will not turn all the back. Also, they key will come out of the ignition in any position, even while the car is in gear. I received a recall notice in august 2014 stating that as soon as parts are in, i could go and get the key ring replaced, but i have yet to receive the notice about parts for this recall.i have never had my car key on a key ring, even before the recall. I also read about a recall on ignitions of some chevy models back in june. I am not sure if this is related to the recall but something has to be done because i have to jump my car off every morning, or after long periods of time due to the ignition being stuck in the "on" position. This is eventually going to kill my alternator, and whatever else chooses to go next. This time consuming and inconvenient, and the fact that you can pull the key out of the ignition while driving is too dangerous! please help!
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo. The contact stated that the interior lighting and indicators on the instrument panel were illuminated after the key had been removed from the ignition. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired per an unknown recall regarding the ignition, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to concord chevrolet (1330 concord ave, concord, ca 94520 (925) 682-6400) where it was diagnosed that the electrical system failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and did not assist. The failure mileage was 130,000.
Rear defogger quit working. Fuses all checked to be good. The wire harness by the interior fuse box had a burned contact. The plastic was charred and melted. The contacts for the defogger damaged. Luckily, this did not result in a fire, though looking at the damage, it was entirely possible. I have pictures if needed. Repairs have been made to allow for visibility while driving.

I would like to raise concern for a rear defroster failure on 06+ monte carlo's as well as impala's. There is a faulty connector in the in line fuse box causing a major fire hazard. I have seen many people raise this issue as a very dangerous fire hazard online, wondering why they see recalls for rear defroster issues without a fire hazard yet nothing for this dangerous issue. It causes major burning on the wire and plastic fuse box. The concern would be when we lose a life in a car fire simply because of their negligence on this issue. I hope it doesn't take the loss of a life or worse life of a child to make them get in gear with this.
Can't remove keys from ignition once i turn off car.
Aside from the problems with my ignition due to recall, it has been extremely hard to change gears, i often have to use two hands to switch the shift from park to drive or vice versa. The button on the gear shift is extremely hard to push.

There is a manufactures defect in the wiring connector for the rear defroster. Due to the electrical load the contacts burn and short out and burn the plastic connector. Fire hazard. The cost at the dealer to look at this was $50 with a $450 estimate to fix. This manufacturer defect appears to be common to chevy impalas and monte carlos. The link is a youtude video illustrating the problem.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfwbdzjqaru.

I was driving going approximately 45 mph, i hit a pot hole and my vehicle cut off.this has happened three times since january. The same thing happened the second time. The last time it occurred was tuesday, february 18.this time i was on the expressway traveling approximately 75 mph, hit a bump and it cut off.the car starts back up when i put it in neutral.

I purchased my 06 monte carlo in 2012 and my keyless entry system was not responding well. They informed me it was just the batteries. I swapped out the batteries and this did not do much good. I later found out that this is a known problem with the transmitter/receiver for the vehicle (impalas included) for the 2006 model year. In order to have it fixed, it would cost over $600 to have the transmitter replaced along with all of the keyless entry system. Chevy knows it's a problem and won't recall it. I only have one way to enter my car through the driver's door, and there's no trunk entry from outside of the vehicle. It's more of an extreme inconvenience along with if i were in a safety situation like a robber, i would probably be unable to enter my vehicle at a quick pace since my keyless doesn't work at all. I have read that numerous people have had this issue and they had to pay to get it fixed. I believe chevy should fix this since it is a defect in manufacturer's craftsmanship.
The rear window defogger no longer worked. The reason being that the rear defroster wiring had burned at the connector block. Connector block is located behind the passengers side kick panel. This could have caused a fire to the interior of the vehicle. There are videos on the internet showing how to resolve this problem so it must happen frequently! you can see where the burn occured in the attached photo. I repaired this on 3/9/2018, however, it happened at least two years ago.
We have a 2006 chevy monte carlo which we bought in march of 2007 with 25 miles on it from maroone chevrolet in fort lauderdale florida after about 6 months the " service tire monitoring system " light would continuously come on. We took car into maroone in pembroke pines at least 5 times and every time was told it was fixed ..needless to say to this day 1-25-08 it is still onwe are taking it to the dealer in the morning again why i have no idea ! as of this time nothing is being fixed and we are being told it is ~ it is very frustrating and hurtful being lied to time after time .

(1258 ny-29, greenwich, ny 12834, (518) 692-2241). However, it failed to provide a permanent remedy. While driving over a bump in the road, the vehicle lost power and shut off.in addition, there were instances when the key had to be maneuvered back and forth in order to be removed from the ignition. The vehicle was unable to be driven due to various warning indicators and gauges flickering and the vehicle was unable to start. The contact planned to take the vehicle back to the dealer for servicing. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 25,000. The vin was not available.

Bought car at 29k in june 2007.around 36k the transmission sensor between the gas line and the transmission decided to override my breaking.nearly killed me because the car would not stop. (had to put in neutral to maintain control). Had to fight with chevy to get warranty fix for several weeks. Around 41k the car decided that the temp outside was -38 or -40 degrees and would insist on running heat during summer. Was told computer was bad and would have to spend $$$$ to fix (and asked why i would buy a car with a bad computer!).around 145k oil pressure sensor went out--in less thn15 k, am now having to replace 4th one.there are several other weird issues with this vehicle that are well documented with my mechanic.and now finally get recall notice and told the best fix is to have key by itself with nothing else--fob away from key.i suspect this car is a lemon that has cost me thousands of dollars in repairs.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo. The contact stated that she noticed a shuttering noise while accelerating from a traffic stop.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing where the mechanic replaced the oil pressure sensor. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.updated 12/03/12the consumer stated the vehicle had low oil, before an oil change was due.the vehicle was low 1-1.5 quarts every one thousands miles. At 40,000 an oil consumption test was performed. A year before, the rings and pistons were replaced at 92,000. After the pistons and rings were replaced, the consumer began having problems with the transmission shuddering.a computer flash was done. However, the problems continued. Updated 12/05/12

Transmisson will shift hard sometimes from complete stop or while traveling , mainly from complete stop or stopping at stop light and not a complete stop . Its like it is slipping. Now air bag light is coming sometimes when car is 1st crank. Dash is also coming apart. Car has 118,000 miles on it. Trasmission is worring me the most.
Internal radiator crack. This allowed the coolant and trans fluid to commingle thus causing the transmission to slip. It also had potential to damage many internal components. No external damage thus must be manufacture defect.
I noticed a smell of mold from the ac vents, i took the car to city chevrolet in charlotte, nc. They replaced the ac condenser unit. This took care of the smell for the summer months. The smell has now returned and is getting worse by the day. The service agent said that gm was aware for the problem but was doing nothing to correct. I was also told this is a design flaw due to the vents in the condenser being too small not allowing the built up water to evaporate.this issue is starting to cause health problems such as bronchitis and sinus infections.
I have infrequent lifter noise.i have been told that this is piston slap.it's not piston slap.this problem has been reported twice.i got the same response.piston noise.symptoms:cold start..winter-fall or summer...lifter noise..valves clatter...engine runs rough..no codes..after idling for a few minutes the valves pump up and the roughness and noise go's away... I also have the odor of burt transmission fluid (hair burning) when accelerating.. I also oil 1qt a month.
I purchased a 2006 monte carlo last year which had 25,000 miles on itright when it hit 30,000 miles the heat stopped working at idle. It only works when accelerating. In the winter every stop light you go to or any time you are coasting the windshield and other glass will fog and freeze up i have had many near accidents because of this including veering into oncoming traffic. I have two young children and i don't need them getting hurt or worse because chevy cant stand behind there cars. Almost everyone i have talked to with this car and online have the same problem something needs to be done.
The heat in my 2006 chevy monte carlo only gets hot when the vehicle is in motion.it blows cold at idle despite having it turned to settings for heat.
While driving my 20065 chevy monte carlo the other day at high way speed my traction control light came on the car did a hard jerk causing me to jerk backbreakingdrivers seat had to tie down with rope to get it home..and the engine has lost its power...what is gm doing about this safety issue....and will gm fix this before some one gets killed.

For the course of a 3month period my vehicle kept giving off codes.after several codes of misfiring it took my mechanic quite some time to figure out the problem. He just couldn't put a finger on it and could only find that one spark plug was gunky.he cleaned it and replaced it to see if that would help the issue.it did for about one month then my vehicle began giving off lots of different codes.after it coded for the 5th or 6th time it was finally realized that my car was coding due to the gas and oil not doing what they were suppose to be doing and it was causing gunkybuildup under the engine.what ended up happening is that i had to do a major tune up because all the spark plugs were gunky and burned up as well as the wiring and also had to clean the fuel lines.for a car that only had about 39,000 this should not normally be required at this point!in addition i only use 93 octane gas which is required of my car and i take my car in every 3 months for a checkup and oil change.i also use only the best oil in my vehicle: mobil 1 fully synethic oil (no blend). I was told that this would not be covered under my extended warranty because it's considered a complete tune-up.however, it is obvious something was not running right in converting the gas 'n oil under the engine to effectively do their job.a vehicle kept this wellshould not have to have a full tune-up requiring all wiring harnesses to be replaced with a vehicle of such low mileage.this was a repair that cost me $660.there was some obvious mechanical issues here that are normally seen in a vehicle this new.this is something you find in a vehicle closer to the 75 - 100,000 mile mark and also with one perhaps that doesn't use the best of gas, oil and maybe doesn't keep up so well with maintenance.i'm meticulous in my maintenance and care and i feel there was some defective issues going on that caused my problem.i have all mechanic documentation to assist in my complaint.
Below about 15 degrees fahrenheit, the driver door power lock becomes inoperative.once warm, the lock operates normally.the passenger door lock is not affected by cold temperature at all.
I own a monte carlo ss 2006, and while driving the battery cable or another part of it came loose or malfunctioned, to where it was short circuiting the power to the car.i was on the highway driving and lost all power, even the alternator stopped.this seemed like it was triggering the theft protection; anyhow i had no power, and had to coast to the side of the road.i put the car in park and couldn't turn my key back to the release position, so i popped the hood but couldn't get out of the car because the door wouldn't unlock.i pulled on both handles and with no power the car wouldn't let me out.a person stopped and opened the hood and moved the battery wiring around some, which gave me power to at least open my door now.i took the car directly to the dealer ship to be serviced and looked into.my main concern is if i am in a wreck and lose all power to the vehicle then how am i to open the door(s).the handle should unlock the car door from the inside with or without power.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo.while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate. The vehicle jerked and then accelerated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.
When putting the car in park on several occasions it will not lock into gear...i can literally pull key out and car is still running...you can move gears freely and does not lock.
At a complete stop. When taking off car will hesitate and then jolt forward very hard before taking off. Also dash coming up from the seams
While attempting to accelerate to avoid another driver, the transmission slipped. Instead of the car accelerating, driver was forced to swerve and hard brake forcing the vehicle off the road just barely avoiding an accident causing minor bruising on the children in the back seat. I more of these same complaints on your website and am told that chevrolet knows about this problem and has done nothing to fix it. The mechanic i talked to said that he has seen 3 of these himself and its usually the torque converter, and can't get an aftermarket one yet and people are replacing the entire transmission.

When accelerating from a stop, the transmission (in drive) immediately shifts hard into second gear then slips a little before engaging. If i shift the gears manually, the transmission shifts normal.it does this only in drive and shifting between first and second gear.the fluid is clear, full and not burnt. The trans fluid was flushed about 4 months ago with no problems before now. The car has not been driven hard and has average amount of miles.
Vehicle does nothing when you hit the gas from take off then slams into gear jolting forward. Does not want to shift between 3rd and 4th gear. Seems to be a drive issue. Constantly says replace remote key less entry battery. Dealer has not been able to fix key less entry issue.

I bought a new 2006 monte carlo in july 2006. Since new i've had issues with the car accelerating when stopped. Also, traveling at steady speeds the rpms fluxuate. Now when you use the cruise control, as the car goes down a grade it pulsates and the rpms fluxuate then clears. Gm and dealer says it is normal. I've owned a lot of gm cars and this is not normal. Had the intermediate steering shaft,,rack and pinion assembly, power steering hose all replaced under warranty. Had to fight with gm to get the rack replaced. Bolt broke on the rear brake cable, dealer said i hit something but not a scratch on the bottom of car and hanger sits up in the frame area.
When accelerating from a stop, the transmission slips and then shifts hard (slams into the next gear) no matter how slow i try to take off. This happens no matter if i come to a complete stop or not but only happens when the transmission tries to go from 1st to 2nd. The problem occurs about 50% of the time. It doesn't matter how far into the drive i am. Happens when first started driving for the day and after a 40 minute drive.vehicle only has 62,000 miles and the car is never driven hard!
The engine slips and then slams into gear on soft shifts between 0 and 20 miles per hour.not on every sot shift but it happens often enough as to where i felt the problem needed to be heard and hopefully addressed.
The tranmission 4t65e hd is always tearing up... The carfax on my car shows it was replace in 2008 and im saying it has less then 100 k on the transmission they put in and its out again

2006 chevy monte carloss, started to notice the transmission slipping at about 77,000 miles, when stopped and beginning acceleration it hesitates than lunges into gear while making a grinding noise at the same time..checked the transmission fluid and didn't notice any burnt fluid or particles in it....this incident repeated itself for 7 months and today it wouldn't go into drive or any of the low gears...its pretty obvious by all the complaints on various forums that this is a manufactures flaw! disappointed!!!
The transmission in the vehicle is know for catastrophic failure in several internal parts.gm knowingly put a transmission that was rated for a v6 in a car that produces more horsepower and torque than the transmission is rated to use.the torque converter, clutch pack, and input shaft are all known to fail in these transmissions.i am currently experiencing several symptoms that are linked to these parts failures.i am going to repair the transmission very soon due to the weak points that gm failed to recognize early on in the development phases of the vehicle.the transmission often slips and gives hard shifts under normal driving conditions.*ln
Transmission is slipping and grinds at random.
I have a 2006 chevy monte carlo ss with the ls4 v8 engine coupled to the 4t65hd transmission. The transmission ai starting to act up, missing shifts and slipping every once in a while. I understand that there are many others experiencing the same thing. My car only has 45000 miles on it and it has not been abused.
2006 monte carlo ss - 4t65e-hd transmission failure...slipping... Shuddering/shaking the whole front end when shifting... Lunges/slams into gear...had to get transmission replaced!there are over 100 other people i know in online car forums with the same problem with this transmission in their monte carlos, impalas, and gxp's.starting anywhere from 20,000 miles to 90,000 miles... And some are on their 2nd or 3rd replacement transmission already!!
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo.since december of 2006, the vehicle has been in the shop at least three times for several different failures.the transmission was improperly repaired the first time and was taken back to the shop.the battery died and the contact was not given a new one.the keyless entry system with onstar is making a loud squeaking noise.the contact stated that the mechanic does not perform the repairs and leaves the vehicle parked for weeks at a time.the engine size was unknown.the current mileage is 33,852 and failure mileage was 1,000.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo super sport.upon purchasing the vehicle in july of 2006, the contact noticed that the vehicle would lunge forward or backwards with force.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that there were no failures; however, the failure continued to persist.he returned to the dealer and they stated that the torque converter was defective, which caused the motor mount, transmission, and steering column to fail.the mechanic repaired the transmission, but none of the other components.the manufacturer stated that their engineers would receive the information from the dealer in order to find out the cause of the failure.the current mileage was 35,000 and failure mileage was 7.
Transmission on vehicle slips at random intervals. Remote entry system works when it wants to. Air bag lights come on at random. Dealer has not been able to fix keyless entry or transmission slip.
I bought my 2006 monte carlo, it has less than 23,000 miles on it. I have experienced continued harsh shifting/slippage of the transmission since i purchased it. I have had it in the local chevy dealership a few different times and they are not able to diagnose the problem. They say they can't fix it if it doesn't shift hard for them when they have it. Just yesterday i had to have it towed to the chevy dealership because it blew a power steering hose.
Please be advised this car was in a front end collision, seat belts were replacedpassenger seatbelt seems to hang up, locks without notice. Makes it very uncomfortable as it keeps getting tighter with the slightest movement by passenger.
2006 monte carlo has had problems with the seat belt and air bag failure.the air bag light illuminated.diagnostics were run but no problems were found.when the air bags failed, this caused an issue with the onstar system.the air bag light was on while someone was sitting in the passenger seat.this meant that the air bag was not activated.the seat belt indicator light illuminated.the dealer replaced and reprogrammed the sdm.the onstar system had been replaced once.the air conditioner has been replaced once.the keyless entry system has been replaced and reprogrammed numerous times.there has also been a problem with the traction control system not functioning.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo. The contact stated the driver side seat belt buckle failed to latch. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the driver side seat belt buckle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.
There were four adults in the car (2) front (2) back and i was parking the car at my apartment. I parked the car and the (2) adults in the front seat got out and the (2) adults in the back seat could not get out. Both seatbelts were in the tight position as if you were stopping quickly. The seatbelts are draped over the seat because of the bracket holding them to the seat. The people in the back could not get out because of the seatbelt. I went to the seat and had to slide it backward a little to get the seatbelt to release.
Since i have gotten my vehicle in 06 i have noticed that the seatbelts in the back seat do not exactly work right. When you pull the belts out to put on the belts do not retract back in as they get stuck in the seat.my seats pull down to get into the trunk, so when you pull the belt out it slides into that gap. I was recently pulled over and the officer said that was a major safety hazard. I took my car in to get looked at and there was nothing that they could do or put there to fix the problem. So i do not know where to go from here, but i do know that the safety of my children comes first and i hope there is something that can be done to fix this issue so that i may continue with chevrolet. Thank you.
I was driving down century boulevard my speed was approximately about 35 r37 miles an hour, the speed limit is a 35 miles hour zone.when all of a sudden all the traffic suddenly stopped real fast, it was about three to four in front of me.so i try to brake that's when my steering wheel got hard to where i couldn't turn away in time so i can avoid a crush.in a result i hit a lady car from behind on her left side bumper and to my right side bumper.there where no injuries,no police report was file.we had just exchange information and insurance information.before this had took place my i could not turn off my ignition having problems with my power steering and if i brake too hard my steering columns with jurror stiffen up making real difficult for me to turn.
Braking 2006 monte carlo ss brake pads replaced twice and disks turned once all 4 wheels by midas. Dealer states no problems discovered at times of checks. Brakes heat up excessively car vibrates when brakes are applied. Very hard to control car at this point. This occurs daily when driving over approx. 20 mile after rotors heat up. This is one problem with my car since i bought it new. Among others like remote starter, tire pressure monitors, onstars system, airbag failure lights, charging system, heated seats, steering hose which i paid for then was recalled afterwards. My next car will not be a chevy.
2006 chevrolet monte carlo lt w/ flexfuel engine.1. I was exiting a highway and the steering became stiff and hard to control.it progressively got worse.2.a power steering hose ruptured/split, total failure of hydraulic assisted steering.3.part was replace by dealer via warranty replacement.dealer said they were aware of a raising trend, but no recall was issued.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo.while driving approximately 25 mph, the power steering suddenly failed.the failure has occurred approximately ten times and only in cold temperatures.the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice and they stated that the clamp at the end of the power steering lines was the cause of the failure.the clamp has been replaced at least six times by dealers and private mechanics; however, it has only been a temporary remedy.the length of the remedy depends on the temperature outside.the repair can last for two days or as long as three weeks.the contact called the manufacturer numerous times, but they refuse to repair the vehicle.they stated that he was responsible for the repairs.through online research, the contact has found numerous complaints for the same failure.the vehicle has still not been repaired properly.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 45,000 and current mileage was 55,000.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo.while driving 55 mph, the contact lost control of the steering.he was able to slow down the vehicle and maneuver to the shoulder.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the power steering hose failed.the vehicle was repaired at the cost of $123.the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that no compensation would be provided because there were no recalls.the vin was unavailable.the failure mileage was 63,400 and current mileage was 63,502.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo. The contact stated that the power steering failed and there was a leak from the low pressure hose twice.the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer each time where it was diagnosed that the power steering hose needed to be flushed. The vehicle was repaired both times but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the authorized dealer who inspected and diagnosed that the low pressure hose had split in half and needed to be replaced. The power steering fluid was cleaned and refilled with new fluid.the power steering pump was also replaced as well as the low pressure hose. The contact also stated that the hydraulic steering unit failed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54403.
I have a 2006 chevy monte carlo (v6) and the power steering return hose has exploded 3 times. I asked the dealer to change the power steering pump, but he claimed it was a design flaw and he gets at least one monte carlo per week with the same problem. I now open the cap to the power steering fluid reservoir everyday to relieve the pressure. You can actually hear the pressure release like when you open a can of soda. I haven't had any problems since, bit i don't take the car on long trips and if i do the pressure may increase to the point where the hose blows again. This is a very dangerous problem considering i nearly crashed twice because the hose blew in mid turn.

Failure of both outer tie-rod ends. Caused car to have loose steering and wander about road. Replaced at cost of $219.00.
Power steering became increasingly difficult to maneuver, accompanied by gradually worsening noise. Upon inspection, noted that power steering fluid reservoir was empty. Added fluid which temporarily alleviated both problems. After driving car approximately 25 miles, problem returned and fluid was again empty. Attempted to add fluid again and noted that it was leaking profusely, leaving a large puddle beneath the vehicle. Researched issue on the internet to identify likely cause and recommended action and discovered that gm/chevrolet was already aware of this particular problem, specifically with the year, make and model of my vehicle. I parked the vehicle and contacted the dealer to make arrangements to have it serviced. Due to the possibility or likelihood (based on past history) of a vehicle fire, the dealer had the vehicle towed to their location.
I have a 2006 monte carlo w/35k miles, clean title. Took it to chevy 2 months after purchasing it in august, 08. Steering issues appeared, very dangerous when driving. Chevy, "repaired" the issue, but 3 days later, the problem re-appeared while parking to move out the way for a car coming at a fast speed and almost got hit due to the defective steering. This scared my brothers 10 month old baby and we knew this had to be resolved. I'm not quite sure what i can do as this issue seems to be "repaired" but it is a very dangerous issue and i'm sure if you research it, you will noticed it is on a vast majority of gm vehicles. Please advise as to what i can do. I'm currently financing the vehicle, and would like to plane and simple cancel the contract. I'm afraid something worse down the road is possible of happening, and don't want a child to be apart of the scenario in the event it is a crash.

While sitting at a stop light my 2006 monte carlo unloaded it's power steering fluid on the pavement.the return hose had failed.this appears to be a common occurrence as it is the second time this happened in 3 years of ownership.

I am currently having problems with my steering at different intervals.when taking the interstate exits on 4 recent occasions my power steering fails and it is hard to turn the steering without veering into another lane.i am also having lack of power steering intermittently when i am not accelerating or when i come to a stop light.this morning when turning the wheels the power steering pump is making a loud noise.i have had this problem 4 times before and the power steering pump has been replaced and i have had the steering gear (re-conditioned) replaced 3 times.i checked the power steering fluid and it is full. This is costly and dangerous when it occurs.
Complete power steering failure in a curved intersection. Heard a whine in motor for about a week before the event. Was able to complete the turn and drive the six blocks to home using very hard manual steering. Had to have a new power steering pump installed for $336.00.

Power steering fluid leak in fluid return hose.
Leaving a place of business and had unexpected loss of power steering.pulled into another parking lot and discovered a puddle of power steering fluid under car.drove 20 miles home with no power steering.husband discovered low pressure return power steering hose had failed (hole in hose).
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo.while pulling into a driveway at 4 mph, the vehicle became impossible to steer.the mount that holds the rack and pinion steering failed and both front wheels were headed in opposite directions.the front of the vehicle bounced up and down a few inches above the ground.the contact turned off the vehicle and had it towed to the dealer.the dealer stated that they have never before seen this type of failure and will replace the steering rack.the current and failure mileages were 23,300.
Car malfunction my passenger who was my babymamma pasaed away
Vehicle is developing body sheet-metal rust due to an apparent manufacturer painting defect or incomplete paint during the assembly process.both rear quarter panels have begun rusting in the same areas, on the "spot-welds" or "punch-welds" where the inner and outer fenders are welded together.a local chevrolet dealership has physically inspected vehicle, and supposedly submitted repair estimate to general motors to see if company would repair.this occurred on tuesday, july 26, but have heard from neither dealership nor general motors (mileage at time of estimate approx. 43,000).

Two monitors have been replaced and air leaks has gotten worst.
Tire monitor system failed from day one. It has now been 5 months with no fix available. Affects the remote locks and starter as well. Need to be within 10 feet of car for it to work. Have had it in 3 times and they state they are waiting for a fix and bulletin. Help correct this someone. The dealer is getting no help from chevrolet at all. Bad practice. I have own chevrolet for 25 years with not having this much trouble fixing an issue. My dealer is always great it is on the other end they need help.
Tire monitor system does not work. Dealer and chevrolet both say they are aware of the problem and no fix is available. Both made it sound like a very recent problem but after some research of my own including your site, i have found consumers have been complaining of this defect for almost a year now. Are we to just to continue to drive a inferior vehicle, lacking in my case anyway, a feature that was a major part of my decision to purchase this vehicle? i don't know and apparently chevrolet doesn't either. Shame on chevrolet. How can they claim 100% satisfaction when they wont even tell us when a fix may be evolving? just smoke and mirrors.
Started getting a "service tire monitering system " message when car was placed in drive.
Tire pressure monitoring system is malfunctioning. Is not reading tire pressure in tires correctly.left rear reads - -
My vehicle's tpm system was not reset correctly after tire rotation and gave a false reading to the tire being low, when in fact it wasn't reading the right tires pressure.after using manual tire pressure gauge, it was discovered that the tire i was inflating was over 65psi2006 chevrolet monte carlo ss.

I purchased a new chevrolet monte carlo ss in july 2006.since may 26, 2009, i have had issues and concerns with the abs/traction control on my car.it had been in the shop numerous times for repairs and was finally fixed as of june 24, 2010.the car's abs would constantly engage when braking and the traction control would constantly engage when trying to accelerate (even on dry pavement).the car's traction control would also engage sometimes when just driving at higher speeds on highways or interstate.prior to them fixing the car, i had a near-miss driving east on interstate 80 in des moines, iowa between exits 131 and 135.the traction control engaged at a speed of 65 mph jolting the car into the left lane uncontrollably.after the traction control turned off, i was able to regain control of the vehicle and safely pull over at the next exit.it was dropped off at the dealership where the vehicle was purchased that weekend, and they started working on it on may 11, 2010.previously, they had replaced one of the hubs on the vehicle (9/17/09), but this time changed the ends, wheel sensors, and rewired the vehicle's tires.this was one re-occurring issue the car has had.
Someone needs to look closer at on-star's business practices...they nearly caused a severe accident tonight.while driving my month-old chevy thru a busy intersection in the dark, bad weather, the radio turned itself off and a male voice came from the back seat (rear speakers) telling me i needed to hit the blue onstar button and 'finish' signing up for the service.i nearly jumped out of my skin, mid-intersection.i have repeatedly told them i do not want the service, did not know they would literally solicit with automated messages while driving! this is an incredibly disturbing use of technology and a safety hazard.
Vehicle does nothing when you hit the gas from take off then slams into gear jolting forward. Does not want to shift between 3rd and 4th gear. Seems to be a drive issue. Constantly says replace remote key less entry battery. Dealer has not been able to fix key less entry issue.
Terrible odor from the air conditioning unit, i have brought this car back to the dealer on 3 occasions.they state they cleaned the air conditioning unit??now after 2 weeks of having my car back the odor is back and worse.the dealer states that there was a problem with the drain plug, then the onboard computer, then they say they removed the entire unit and clean and disinfected it?the problem is still there.i am a very unhappy customer!!!
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo. While driving 60 mph with the cruise control activated, there was a sudden increase of engine rpms without warning. The contact engaged the brakes in order to disengage the cruise control, which caused the vehicle to spin and crash into a concrete wall. The passenger sustained injuries to the shoulder and head that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence and was not inspected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 37,000.

The heat in my 2006 chevy monte carlo only gets hot when the vehicle is in motion.it blows cold at idle despite having it turned to settings for heat.
The contact owns a 2006 chevrolet monte carlo.the contact stated that the instrument panel indicators flickered along with the headlights when the vehicle was stopped.after three attempts to repair the failure, the manufacturer was able to locate the cause of the failures.general motors stated that the failures were normal.the failure mileage was 29,000 and current mileage was 32,000.updated 12-15-08the passenger side mirror needed to be replaced. Looks like gm has had an ongoing problem with clear coating peeling off the wheels they use on their cars, my monte carlo has 10,000 miles on it and the wheels look like they have been sitting at the bottom of the ocean since 2006this might not be a safety issue, but it is a appearance issue and the manufacturer should have this issue fixed
