On 6/21 car failed to start.there were no lights in the interior of the car except for the red blinking security light on the radio.after numerous tries the car started.dealer subsequently replaced the body computer module.on 7/3, while driving in a business area, approximately 35 miles per hour, battery, airbag and seatbelt lights went on, speedometer froze at 35 miles per hour, and air conditioner compressor cut out.after 10 seconds the red lights went out and the speedometer worked again.after 1 minute the same thing happened for about 10 seconds, and then the lights went out and after about 30 seconds all events above happened again and after about 10 seconds the red lights went out and were replaced by the orange security light which stayed lit - and was still on when we left it with the dealer (some 20 minutes later).dealer is now analyzing problem.

So when we went to start the car, the car would not start we replaced the battery then we replaced the alternator. After looking some stuff up online we realized that it was neither of these things it was actually the passlock security. It is now locked us out and we cannot get the car started unless we go and have a whole new ignition tumbler keys and i believe it is the bcm reprogrammed. This is obviously a malfunction in the car and i don't believe that i should have to pay $300 for a malfunction i don't know if you all can help me but anything at this point in time would be helpful

I have a 2000 chevy monte carlo with 56,000 miles on it. It has been nothing but trouble. Have had alot of repairs on it. Now it has a popping noise in the steering column, and loud front end noise. I was told the steering column problem had a recall on it,because one of my friends chevy impala had the same problem and theirs was fixed under recall. I contacted chevrolet, they said there was no recall on my monte carlo. Seems if thre is a defective part on this model, gm should replace it with no charge .also, the frontend has had a very loud roar in it since we purchased it used with 12,000 miles on it. We replaced the tires, which did not help, and i was told the front hubs had defective bearings which did not have enough grease and could not be greased. My friend replaced the front hubs on their chevy impala with improved hubs and corrected the problem. I have had numerous electrical problems with this car, including the electric windows repaired four times, starter, altenator, turn signals and hazard flashers, paint, the car is supposed to be black, instead it's black and white polka dot. I believe this car should be declared a lemon under the lemon law. I have put way to much money into this car with just 56,000 miles on it. I would appreciate your help on my problems with this car, as i believe there should be a recall on the front hubs and the problem in the steering column. I can't afford to keep spending money on this car, i just keep throwing good money after bad.i think gm should repair these problems at no charge. Thank you very much for your time.

With no indication of trouble, the car stalls and shuts down while driving.sometimes it can be re-started, sometimes it cannot be restarted.after towed to the dealer, the problem does not occur and no cause is identified.last year the dealer replaced the idle air control and cleaned the throttle body, but the problem returned intermittently.it has occurred once / week for the last month.

Had to charge battery so i could take car in for ignition recall. Since i don't use the car much anymore. Upon trying to start vehicle, engine backfired and upper intake manifold exploded and pieces all over the driveway.this is the same issue as described in the 2004 recall which was performed on the fuel pressure regulator. Since the recall. I did have to replace the fuel pressure regulator again around 2011. I also had replaced the upper and lower intake gaskets that were faulty oem parts. The upper plastic manifold was replaced to the newer design. Although it being plastic is just an engineering catastrophe still doesn't solve the problem with warping from heat. Anyway. Here's my diagnosis. Fuel injectors continued to spray fuel into engine after the first attempt of starting vehicle caused by a weak battery. I say this because after turning the key off after the first attempt i heard the fuel pumping for at least 10 seconds. This is not normal.after 1 minute i tried to restart and thats when parts started flying.good thing no helpers had their heads under the hood when this happened.

After i contacted the dealer, the appointment was made to repair all recall issues.received notification that all parts were at the dealership.once i arrived at the dealer, was told it would be a three hour wait.drove approx. 100 miles to dealer (bill gatton chevrolet-cadillac).one recall issue was resolved, resulting in another appointment to be made when other parts arrived.no precautions were made to ensure vehicle protected against service department injury to vehicle, ie, no paper mats placed in car, dirt inside car, and keys left in the vehicle on the dealer lot.this vehicle has been maintained in a pristine condition, (51,000 actual miles).has never been driven on salt or under any bad weather conditions.the dealer even commented that the vehicle appeared to be brand new.i would welcome a customer satisfaction survey for this dealership.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo.while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The failure mileage was 195,000.

Vehicle was having starting issues. Would not start without a jump start. We jumped the car with jumper cables, and the engine caught on fire. Immediatley hosed it down to put out the fire, and now there is a hole in the top of the engine. After extensive research, found out a recall back in 09 that was causing thissame exact issue. Found several people with the same year make and model vehicle, that this same exact situation happend to, and it was due to the recall. In 2010 stockton chevrolet replaced sparkplug retainers on a recall issue, which was linked to the same recall. Now trying to fight gm dealer to have vehicle fixed, as it seems to be linked to the recall even though the sparkplug retainers were replaced. Could be a possible product liability issue.

Well gmc i don't even know where to start. 1st my transmission is stalling and seems like it is having a hard time shifting from 2nd to3rd gear there for stalling consistently as soon as the cars rpm goes to 2 and before 3 i have taken it various times to get it fixed and has been very costly and still the problem exists. 2. Car was recalled and fixed - stating if the recall was not fixed the motor could catch fire.car was repaired in 2017 and last week; i started the vehicle and the motor caught fire.please tell me what i do now... Car was stationary; caught on fire at attempted start up

Our 2000 monte carlo supersport was parked and had been off for approximately 15 minutes. Before that, it had been driven for approximately 30 minutes and parked for about an hour.someone came in to tell me it was smoking.there was a great deal of smoke coming from under the hood.we called the fire department and before they could arrive, the car was engulfed. While it was burning, we could hear it trying to start! there is nothing left of the front, engine compartment, or interior, except for the frames.only the trunk area and right rear tire were untouched.

During the process of starting the vehicle: first attempt to start the vehicle, it didn't start. The second attempt to start the vehicle, there was a loud bang (explosion) under the hood with an odor of 'burnt plastic'. Upon looking at the engine, the black plastic intake maniford had a hole it from the explosion. This is the second occurrence in 3 months. I have replaced this intake this past winter and this occurred again last weekend. It seems in my research that gm is ignoring this defect and will not offer a fix to the problem. Gm knows this is happening especially with "cold starts" but has yet addressed.

2. The security light come on and locks the car from starting almost 3 to 4 times daily took it to get fixed they ended up replacing ignition switch ignition holder everything on the inside of ignition over 1000.00. 3 electrical problem that causes signal lights to not work and sensors are. All out of whack during the day lights are on at night they don't turn on the ac seems to b stuck on feet and face almost as if it was clogged.5.the front right wheel shaking n vibrates every time you go above 60mph or turning.6. Thefuel system went out the fuel pump the fuel sensor the actual fuel gauge stopped working.7.the transmission line on the bottom popped off as i was on the freeway spraying transmission oil all over the place almost causing an accident. And the list goes on and on...

On 1-6-14 my car set fire due to a recall. I calle dthe gm recall center the same day and was toldto have the car towed to the kevin whitaker dealer which i did on 1-11-14. Forum 1-11-14 to 1-20-14 i did not hear back from the dealer so i called and was told that all the info was sent to gm legal department. Called back on 1-27-14 and was told they are trying to decide what to do. Called back on 2-4-14 still no answer. 2-5-14 nothing. Called back on 2-6-14 and was tocall the product allegation dept with info. I called the allegation dept and per [xxx] nothing was in the system and she needed to start a claim. Called chevy on 1-7-14 still nothing back but the said gm had the info. 1-10-14 spoke to [xxx] and [xxx] and they will call chevy to get all the info. On 2-12-14 [xxx] with gm legal department called stating that due to the warranty the can not help me with the car catching on fire even though it was due to a recall. My car have been at the chevy dealer and since 1-11-14 and now they are telling me every day that they are trying to help me with a car. Something about a customer loyalty certificate and that has been since 2-22-14. It is 3-5-14 and i didn't get any help with assisting me with a car i had nothing to do with catching on fire. I am renting and paying for rides. I do not need to have a brand new car! i just need a car. Please.. Its been 2 months and i didn't put the car on fire it was due to gm recall!!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. While attempting to give the vehicle a jump to get it started, the engine blew out. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact was taking the vehicle to the dealer to be repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 15v701000 (engine and engine cooling) when the failure occurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

Car shuts off while driving down the road , we will put the flashers on and put car in neutral and try to restart sometimes it will sometimes not. We will try to get far enough off the road and continue to try an restart, sometimes car has to sit about 10 minutes before starting.. The intake has exploded on me while sitting in the driveway....my biggest concern is my family , husband son an myself is going to be badly hurt or killed in this car.. I seen on tv that there is lawsuits being filed for faulty ignitions and intakes exploding i would very much like to hear from someone about the recalls to have this car fixed.. This is on going about the car shutting itself off an dying. Everytime we leave in this car it does it while were out .

No lights on dash board

We bought the 2000 chevy monte carlo ss vin [xxx] back in june 2019 we have done some regular repairs on it when we first got it and everything worked great! started every single time. 02/18/2020 we went to start it and it was acting like the battery was dead. Went and check the battery volt read and it was reading at 8 so i hooked up jumper cable to it and let it sit for a couple minutes. Got in a turned the key over to start it. The whole plastic intake blew up and pieces went everywhere. Then caught fire. It was so bad very scary. The damage was little compared of what it could have been if the hood was closed.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I went to do a recall on the vehicle i got my mail and i put new head gaskets or whatever it was done on top of the engine and now it's still leaking oil i am calling them to balise chevrolet warwick rhode island i will recall on them to make sure they can fix the problem cuz it was not leaking when i went there i want it fixed properly and it shouldn't be any charge to me because the vehicle was in perfect working condition when it entered their shopi

Engine found to have three oil leaks that have been present for well over a year.a local dealership found caked oil from leaks in the a/c compressor (passenger side front), front crank sensor (passenger>side rear) and the intake manifold (driver side rear).they also stated that the car was too new to have that much caked up oil and that i should contact the dealership i purchased my vehicle from (along with my three previous vehicles).three separate oil leaks in a 2000 vehicle is not normal or expected.

At low and high speed if a bump is hit vehicle cuts off. No warning sign flashs indicating vehicle will cut off. Problem is intermittent.dealer was not notified, and could not duplicate the problem.. 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. Consumer states that the motor exploded and caught fire after starting vehicle. *grthe consumer stated she received a recall notice in the mail and she made attempts to get to the dealer, but couldn't due to time restraints. The consumer was advised by gm they were not responsible for the repairs, because the vehicle was over 4 years old.

Car stalls while driving without notice.the engine just cuts out, the power steering is lost and most times you don't notice until you are pressing the gas pedal and the car is decelerating...once i'm able to stop car safely, most times it starts back up, but it takes 3-5 times of flooring the gas and cracking the key to get it to catch, then it runs rough for a minute and seems fine. No warning lights when this happens.on a different occasion, the check engine light came on, but the car did not stall.took it to chevy dealer who diagnosed an ignition module ($600!).drove the car home the next day and it stalled again!!!brought it right back up to chevy...and, after much persistence and threatening to stop payment on the $600 spent for nothing, a crankshaft sensor was installed n/c.it has been a week, with no problems yet and hoping this fixed it.however, sometimes it would be up to 3 weeks between the incidents of stalling, so on a wait and see basis right now...with fingers crossed.very frightening to drive the car and not know if you are going to get where you are trying to go, let alone the though of this happening in the middle of an intersection or on the expressway...the car is in mint condition, garaged kept and regularly maintained by dealer only and has less than 50,000 on it.as a side note, i also have crunching noise recently presented in the steering wheel when turning or braking.after the last go round with chevy over spending $600 on a car that still stalled, was hesitant to have more work done at the moment...

Effects of problems due to head gaskets and intake manifold:(1)burning smell coming from the engine;(2)minor breathing problems, diziness, and lightheadedness;(3)soar throat irritation and tiredness while driving.(4)causes heavy use of gas, bad gas milage, and coolant is used up very quickly and becomes brown and slimey.solution:i was told that 2000 chevy monte carlo's had problems with the gaskets and intake manifolds. Numerous 2000 models seem to have this issue but were never recalled. My warranty company paid for the parts to be fixed it just never seems to be corrected right. However, i feel it is highly dangerous and could be a safety problem causing people to fall asleep at the wheel. The burning smell that comes from the gaskets is very odorous, causes dizziness, breathing irritation/problems and if it does this to an adult i could only imagine the damage it could do to a child. It also makes you tired. I fought to stay awake because of this problem.

Low coolent.took to the dealer at 40,000 miles for problem.dealer replaced manifold intake gaskett.at 42,000 vehicle heated to luke warm temperature.returned to dealer at 45,000 miles.dealer replaced radiator and thermostat.dealers explination: "the weekest area was originally replace which lead to other problems down the line"!!!!

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo.the contact stated that the sensor in her egr would catch fire.while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle began to smoke and smelled of burnt plastic.she depressed the accelerator pedal and felt as if she were pushing on air.the contact heard air blowing so she took the vehicle to a mechanic.the mechanic discovered that the sensor was completely melted and he repaired the vehicle.however, the issue recurred two days later.the mechanic could not determine what caused the failure.the vehicle has not been repaired for the second failure and the dealer and manufacturer have not been notified.the vin was unknown.the current and failure mileages were approximately 221,000.

I have a 2000 monte carlo and had to have the intake manifold gaskets replaced due to oil and water mixing together in the engine. When i talked to the mechanic about my problem he knew without looking at it exactly what was wrong. Chevy puts a plastic gasket in this model that ends up cracking due to heat. I had to pay my mechanic $700 dollars to repair this problem.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo.after driving 40 mph, the contact smells burning oil and occasionally notices smoke under the hood of the vehicle.he received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 09v116000 (engine and engine cooling).the remedy was to remove the spark plug wire retention channel at the front of the engine and install two new spark plug wire retainers.the contact believes that this will not repair the actual defect and the leak will still occur.he believes that the recall should offer a permanent repair to stop the leakage.the failure mileage was 50,000 and current mileage was 137,674.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. While driving at various speeds, the air bag light illuminated continuously and the vehicle's temperature gauge elevated.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. The vehicle was parked when the contact observed excessive smoke coming from underneath the hood. The fire department was called to the scene. The vehicle sustained no damages and was driven from the scene. The vehicle has not been driven since the failure occurrence or diagnosed to determine the cause of failure.the vin was not available. The failure and current mileages were 105,000.

Problems with the intake gasket on the 2000 monte carlo.***no answer required*** *mr the intake gasket had blown. *sc

My chevy monte carlo's manifold intake gasket eroded away letting the engine oil and coolant to leak out.it is not a new car, but when i took it to the repair shop the owner said he knew exactly what the problem was without even looking, but did of course, and confirmed that the intake gasket was eroded away due to its being plastic insteadof the metal gasket that should be used in the chevorlet v6 engines.he stated that he had replaced gasket after gasket since chevy had "cheapened up" the engines.i asked many other repairmen and the dealer and it was confirmed.i believe this is an industry problem, across their engineering boondaggles which have been put upon the public.it is not a cheap fix, unlike theirs, and cost me and many others $800-$1500 dollars in repair bills.chevy has refused to help with this rampant problem.i think this should be a recall issue since it is not an isolated incident and certainly is not due to abuse of the vehicle or even excessive mileage and wear.my car has 73000 miles on it and haven't done anything but be good to this vehicle.i have searched many sites in order for my complaint to be registered.please advise me about any steps i can pursue to make chevy and gm "undo" the defect they created.thank you.jah

My vehicle needed to have the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets, egr, plugs, new coolant, oil & filter replaced.dealer said egr burnt through "plastic" and this is how i got leaks.car smelled like it was burning.at first car would continually stall, even when driving.then it started blowing out white smoke and then would not start at all.i am furious over this.my car is out of the 3 years warranty.it has 52,000 miles and has been very well taken care of.contacted gm only to be told they would not offer any cost assistance because i don't have records of doing my own oil changes.if i were to have taken the car for every oil change at the dealer where there would be a record, they might have considered offering help.my car has always had oil changes every 3,000 miles.there is an online petition right now with over 2,200 signatures for the problem with the intake manifold gasket leaks.gm is well aware of this problem and they are turning their backs on us consumers.if there wasn't a problem with the gaskets, then why have them come out with an upgraded gasket part?i would love to send you my service history along with the letter i wrote to gm regarding this problem.

$300 to correct alignment.500 to fix leaking coolant.oth costs due to design/parts flaws.

I brought the car back to the dealer a total of four times, because the engine coolant level low indicator light came on ,each time they topped it off and couldn't find a problem,i was really concerned because the car manual says the coolant fluid should be fine for at least five years or 150,000.the forth time i brought the car in was yesterday i wanted to leave it and get this resolved, four hours later i called and they found a leaking gasket ,they said they would have to keep it for a couple of days and take part of the engine apart ,i was not happy .i didn't buy a new car to have this kind of work done at 26,500.

2000 monte carlolow coolent sensor quit 3 times poor design[moisture], rear anti lock sensor 2 twice.all in 4 years.dealers doesn't care.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. Whiletraveling at speeds of 30 mph, the battery warning light illuminated on the dashboard and the vehicle immediately stalled. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 47,000.

I own a 2000 chevy. Monte carlo. A review of the service bulletins shows that there is a known problem with lower and upper intake manifold gaskets. My mechanics have told me it leaking is a problem with this model, but everyone wants $500 to $600 to replace just one gasket. If there are service bulletins, and it is a known problem, why are consumers made to pay for this? or has gm been told to repair this for customers? i have had to have several things replaced more than once. Such as the window motors assemblies, on the driver side more than three times alone.

Engine failure on a 2000 monte carlo ss with only 60,000 miles.i realize i was out of warrenty, but to have to replace an entire engine that basically disintegrated from under me is not something i ever thought i would have to do on this vehicle.i am lefthung out to dry by gm.

1.took my car in for service for an intermittent "check engine" light.service required was a purge solenoid for the charcoal cannister.2.after returning the car home and it sitting for a couple days, i went to start the car and the battery was dead.jumped the battery with another car and when i went to turn the key in the monte carlo, the intake manifold exploded in about 20 different pieces in a deafening explosion.3.nothing has been done to repair yet, but the damage is catastrophic.i'm looking at $$$$$ repair.i have pictures of it if needed.if i had been standing over the engine and my wife had turned the key i would be looking at a hospital stay.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo ss.the vehicle caught on fire while parked in the driveway.it appeared to be an engine compartment fire.the fire department extinguished the flames. The manufacturer advised him to tow the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. The failure mileage was 160,000.

On two separate occasions there were engine explosions which resulted in fires when starting vehicle.the fire was extinguished by the owner.the fire marshal report has not been received yet.

While driving without warning the vehicle stalled and became difficult for the consumer to control. The starter and flywheel had to be replaced.*nlm

I have a 2000 monte carlo that i have had for only about a year. I got the transmission replaced with a remanufactured one about a month ago. When i got my car back from coleman taylor the engine was messed up. The engine now makes noise when i crank it and it smokes, so i am afraid to drive the car. The manager at coleman taylor insists that he did not damage the engine and does not know why it suddenly has these problems. I got the car towed to sunrise pontiac gmc for a diagnostic test. I was told that it was recommended that i get the motor replaced. The specialists could not determine how the damage was caused. I am afraid to drive the car now due to the noise and smoke from the engine.

The engine cradle warped and had to be replaced by the dealer.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. The contact was unable to start the vehicle. He checked under the hood and attempted to restart the vehicle when the upper intake exploded which resulted in a fire. The contact was able to extinguish the fire. The fire department disconnected the battery cable in the event someone tried to restart the vehicle. The chevrolet manufacturer advised him to contact them in two weeks since he filed a report with them. There were no injuries and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. The failure mileage was 116,000.

While operating vehicle under normal conditions enginewill stall while in traffic. Dealership has examinedvehicle three times and failed to correctdefect.please provide any additional information/attachments.

I have a 2000 monte carlo ss and imhave intermetted stalling and exsessive cranking and dealer said they can't find anything. My ses light comes on and does not store codes. I have a egg smell coming out of the heat and a.c. My rims are chipped. The factory just painted over them. Three lines in my defogger do not work from the dealer when they where putting car parts in my car and scrached the lines. My driver seat is caving in and was retrimed 2 times and looks 2 diff. Colors. My trac. Did not work once in a skid 2 days ago.my remote some times don't lock my car and the dealer said its normal. Back brake sqeek and took it to a tire place and they add "quietbrake" to the back of pads to stop it ..so far it works. Dealer replaced my radio after its singed my tape and it skipps cd's and scratches them. When defogger is on i can't get any clear radio stations. My driver window is scrached at top from putting the window down and when its down in the door it chatters over bumps and pass. Side works great. Sun rood lining is broke and dealer glued it and broke in winter.each time i get it back from that dealer i get a scratch in it so i just changed dealers. My car idles between 500&1000 and some times stalls. Car rolls back on hills.the dealer damged my side mirrors and will not replace them... Please help me.

While driving about 65 mph engine will stall without any prior warning, just like somebody turned offengine.had taken vehicle to dealer, and they could not find what was causing stalling.

Engine stalled while going 65mph on freeway and would not restart, accelerator pedal was no longer responding to vehicles speed. There was no warning indicating on the dashboard. Diagnostic information reading was negative. Dealer was notified.

Leather seats: the quailty of the leather was "poor" to say the least. Dealer did replace the rear seat after repeated complaints. Speed control: at about 40,000 miles, speed control makes audible sound upon engaging or disengaging. Dealer replaced speed control module and this did not stop the problem. Interior: the coating on the dash board is peeling. Steering: makes aut\dible snapping ni\oise when turning. Dealer cannot find problem. Transmission: engine cuts out when under load at 1800 -2500 rpm on hills. Tachometer jumps up and down. Dealer had the car for 4 days and couldn't recreate the problem. I took them for a test drive and recreated it over and over again.

Over heating, exhaust system went out, fuel gage went out. My check light for the oil and for the cooling system keeps coming on and the dip sticks read normal. This car is falling apart and i just bought it 2 weeks ago i have no money to get it fixed and im scared for my child's safety to be in it. I have a 2000 monte carlo which i had serviced at borchers auto in blackwood nj . They replaced the intake gasket set[ ms90565 ] , and the valve cover gasket set [ vs50442r ] . I wanted to know if this wasa recall for thatmodel year that i was not aware of.

The intake manifold cracked, which caused fluid to leak. Egr, plugs, new coolant oil and filter had to be replaced.

For a couple of years when i turn on my turn signals and leave on while waiting at a red light they will quit working all together.i have learned to turn them on and show what i am going to do then turn them off until the light changes and turn them on again to show which way i am turning. After i have stopped and restarted the car they start working again.it is dangerous if you forget to do the process i mentioned above because you can't signal to change lanes or anything if you are in the wrong lane and need to get over and stop and restart the car.

The security system shut down the car don't start , have to wait 20 min for it to start when i bought this car in 20005 am the second owner this problem started after they close the dealer at that time i was still under warranty i was sitting at a red light 3 months ago the just shut down all the gauges go crazy lights don't work sometime the gas gauge show full tank when your not window don't go up or down when they want to i have call gm and talk to them the only thing they said was use one key but i have seen my car on the news and it had something about the security on my car but gm act like they don't no anything about it i call a dealer ship and they told me to wait for gm or i can pay myself to get this fix am so mad with this company because this is the only car i have and when i need to go i cant the car wont start and when it do i cant get back home.

Just purchased the car, drove him with no problems, went for another drive right after the blinkers inside nor outside the car would work, they at times would work after this then just not work again, after doing research about this problem i learned the hazzard switch was the problem and making the blinkers not work at times, i roach the hazzard switch now the blinkers are just fine.

On-going turn signal failure. Turn signal intermittently functions and almost resulted in rear end collision and/or side impact. Infrequently operation of hazard signal while engaging left or right turn signal mitigated problem, but did not fix. To repair had to replace hazard/turn signal flasher at a cost of $107. From review of monte carlo forums this is a known safety hazard that effects monte carlos as well as other vehicles that used the hazard/turn signal flasher switch p/n 924-606 and should be remedied by gm through recall/reimbursement.

My 2000 monte carlo ss has a default and should have a recall.the blinkers and hazard switch doesn't work. When the blinkers doesn't work i have to press the hazard switch several times.i heard that this can cause a electrical smoke/situation.very dangerous.must be recalled.

Flasher hazard switch and gas gauge indicator were found to be issues in the past but i was not notified of any type of recall.both of these issues are present in my 2000 monte carlo.i purchased a replacement flasher switch at a local dealer and nothing was said about a recall.i have not yet replaced the switch.i purchased the car new and feel if gm knew about this issue, i should have been contacted long ago to have this issue rectified.

Water leaked into the front headlight lens compartment. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Headlights would not come on intermittently.dealer notified, and unable to correctproblem at this time. Feel free to provide any further information.

Turn signal was working intermittently.dealer notified, dealer has ordered a replacement parts. Feel free to provide any further information.

When turning on the turn signals they worked intermittently.consumer willcontactdealership about this issue.

Turn signals work intermittently. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that they could not locate the problem.dealer checked connections and replaced multifunction switch, but problem still exists.

Turn signal flasher - inoperative.also affects 4-way emergency flasher. The turn signal flasher unit is embedded in the dash- as part of the four-way emergency flasher. The flasher unit has failed, and i can't get to the unit to replace it. As a result, my turn signals do not work.i have scheduled a replacement time with the dealer, but am operating in this impaired condition while waiting to get it fixed. The information about replacing a flasher is not in the operator's manual.

Blinkers work on and off. Hazard lights affected also. No flasher in my model car. Only a hazard switch. Very difficult to find. Went faulty. It is located right behind the hazard button behind the dashboard. It controls the blinkers and the hazard lights. Go figure.

Intermitant failure of turn signals and four-way hazard flashers.signals will unexplicably cease operation when activated or fail to activate at all.alternately, they will operate properly.condition was replicated only once in 4 dealer service visits and then did not persist long enough to facilitate fault isolation.condition is highly dangerous and could lead to accidents.dt

While using turn signals, the turn signals intermittently will work and not work.i have found that if they are not working that i can get them working again by activating the 4-way flashers.sometimes it takes pressing the 4-way flasher button numerous times to get the 4-way flashers working but then the turn signals will work again.i believe that the problem is in the flasher unit.this seems to be a very important safety issue. *nlm

My turn sigmal flasher doesn't work sometimes. I think it happens more often when the humidity is high. I can sometimes correct it by depressing the emergency flasher button. This is dangerous!!!

I was driving monte carlo ss 2000 the other day and smoke started coming out of the steering wheel. I inhaled a mouthful, the throat burned all day.almost in an accident.the windshield wipers started running and would not shut off, so i removed the fuse. I noticed my headlights no longer worked also. When i got home i opened the dashboard and steering wheel cover , and the burnt smell was coming from the turn signal switch. I opened the switch, and everything inside was melted.i notified general motors right away. They told me to take itto a gm dealer , so i did. But the gm dealer wantedto charge a $100 to diagnose. None of the fuses on the car blew out when the switch started on fire. I found a used switchfor $85.00 so it cost less the dealer to tell me itwas bad.itwas a faulty switch , and gm told me i could only have a gm dealer fix it.i told them i could notjustify or afford paying more for the diagnosis than the used part. Gm told me i could notput a new switch in myself or i won't be reimbursed if there was a recall. Thiswas a very serious safety issue. Gm won't help me out anyway and they didn't really seem to care about this issue. So i either go to the dealer and pay $500 to get it fixed or pay $85 and do myself. They put me in a situation so they didn't have to do anything about this problem. I told them i would send the switch to them, but they didn'twant it. Neither could i have another mechanic replace it except for gm. Thiswasrediculous. Someonewas going to get killed if this happenedagain.

Dt*: the contact stated, while having an oil change at an independent service station, the mechanic noticed an odor of something burning in the vicinity of the steering wheel. There was no smoke or fire present. Upon inspection, there was a malfunction of the turn signal dimmer switch on the steering column. The dealer and manufacturer were contacted. There are no recalls in effect.

My 2000 monte carlo ss has problem with the fuel system which has a recall on it but my vin isn't included in the recall.

Over heating, exhaust system went out, fuel gage went out. My check light for the oil and for the cooling system keeps coming on and the dip sticks read normal. This car is falling apart and i just bought it 2 weeks ago i have no money to get it fixed and im scared for my child's safety to be in it. Iv talked to some owners of the identical car and they are having the same issues. These problems need to be fixed and now!

On december 24, 2004 in the evening my vehicle which is a 2000 chevy monte carlos would not start at the mall. My husband and i proceeded to try to get the vehicle to start. However, it didn't start. We the vehicle try to start after trying to start it "back fire" causing the upper manifold, the engine cover, gaskets and oil cap having to be replace.we had the vehicle to be towed to our home. Then, we had charlie jones, of jones mechic and heavy equipment to come and look at the vehicle. He stated that because we continue to try to start the vehicle fuel in the lines build up causing the vehicle to back fire.well after we got the vehicle repair we receive a recall notice from chevy telling customers of a fuel regulator which is faulty and can cause the vehicle to back fire when battery is low. Exactly what had happen to my car.how ever if though chevy acknowledge the default they denied to pay me back my expense. Their recalls states everything that would happen to my car. I'm just so upset because i found out that although the battery was low the car shouldn't have back fire if it wasn't for the recall part.

Nhtsa#04v09000, i just paid $ 247.94 + tax to fix my 2000 monte carlo (60,000 miles)with the above mentioned recall. Was it possible my auto was missed in this recall? have there been more complaints regarding this recall?

We have 2 monte carlos, a 2000 and 2004, both of these had sensors go out of the gas gauge. In talking with some others, theirs did too. Royal chevrolet in bloomington, in charges almost $500 for this. I feel since this is happening a lot to this brand of car, it should be recalled.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. The contact stated that the manifold exploded as he tried to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure was the second occurrence. The contact called the manufacturer and inquired about nhtsa campaign id number: 040v090000 (fuel system: gasoline) and was told that the vehicle was not included in the recall campaign. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no assistance. The failure and current mileage was 130,000.

The consumer experienced the same problem as stated nhtsa recall #04v090000: on certain passenger vehicles equipped with 3800 v6 (l36) engines and certain delphi fuel pressure regulators, the regulators have a much higher than usual rate of fuel leaks.a leak can allow fuel to enter the intake manifold through a vacuum line. If the engine does not start when cranked, the fuel from the leaking regulator and a spark can cause a backfire. The dealership stated the consumers vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.

My 2000 monte carlo ss has problem with the fuel system which has a recall on it but my vin isn't included in the recall.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo.the contact stopped at a gas station and noticed that the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed.once he returned home, he noticed a large amount of brake fluid had leaked onto his driveway.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the failure was due to the salt used on the roads during the winter.the contact had the service center order the parts to repair the failure.the failure mileage was 36,200 and current mileage was 36,646.updated 6/2/08 the brakes failed due to a rusted out brake line. The consumer stated the brake line should have been stainless steel. The gas line was also in the process of rusting.

Steering has had vibration in it since i purchased the car. Now the steering won't steer unless the engine is accelarated. The engine keeps backfiring and cutting out. This is a 2000 monte carlo ss. This is the worst vehicle i have ever owned. I will never buy another gm product again. I am buying a toyota.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. The contact stated that while attempting to turn the key in the ignition, the engine exploded because of a defective fuel pump regulator. The contact stated that the failure was similar to recall 04v090000 (fuel system, gasoline: delivery) but he never received a recall notice. Before the failure, he received a recall notice and repair for a failure regarding a possible engine fire so he took the vehicle into the dealership where the lower intake gasket kit and fuel pressure regulators with improved diaphrams were installed. However, the engine exploded after the repairs. The contact called the dealer and manufacturer but had not received any response at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 140,854.

The check vehicle soon light came on soi immediatly drove to the dealership, i was told that i did not tighted down the gas cap and thats why the light came on so they re-set the light.two days later the light returned and again i was told about the gas cap, i explained that i had not put any gas in it.they ran a diagnostic and discovered the car had a "weak fuel pump". #2 i was leaving from a stop sign when my tire blew out, i was told that it was not covered because i must of hit something with it. (i never hit anything).#3 i attempted to move the car from infront of my home, into the driveway, red fluid began to pour out under the engine compartment.the car was towed to the dealership and the water pump was replaced.#4 the vehicle engine has had a low idle miss that started about 10 days after we brought the car home.#4 i just noticed that my passenger door is poping against the right front fender when you attempt to open it.the condition seems to be worsening and you can see that the fender and the door do not line up correctley.the dealership continues to tell me that the car is running to "factory specifications" at this time.i am at a loss i do not know how to get my vehicle taken care of when the dealership doesnt even care enough to take the time to check it out.this was my first carbuying experience and it has been a nightmare, i love my monte carlo and i just wish someone would assist me. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. When the contact attempted to start the vehicle, an abnormal noise was heard from under the hood and a fire started. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The fire department extinguished the fire. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 04v090000 (fuel system, gasoline). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 69,000.

Consumer states transmission has experienced problems.

I bought a 2000 monte carlo ss new in sept of 2000, i have 60,000 miles on it. The 4th gear is out of it and i have to have a new transmission put in it which is going to cost me between 1,300.00-1,600.00 to replace and they have to add a add on kit, if they have to add a add on kit what is the problem? i am very disappointed with chevy products. I also have a 89 chevy truck, which i bought used with 50,000 miles and i have had to put a new transmission in it 2 yrs ago, my daughter has a 99 monte carlo and has numerous problems in the last 2 yrs. I owned a 79 chevy truck for 16 yrs which i bought new and never had any problems with it except for normal wear and tear on it. What has happened with the quality of chevrolets? i am very disappointed. I should not be putting in a transmission in a 4 1/2 yr old car. I have taken very good care of the car changing oil,etc when it is due. You pay good money and it doesn't even last till you pay it off.

Consumer states transmission has experienced problems.

When the automatic transimission is changed there is a noise in th oil pan.

I to had to have pressure control solenoid in 2000 monte carlo replaced after only 44000 miles.

While driving at any speed up hill and with no warning the transmissiondecelerated even when the consumer's foot was on the accelerator and it was difficult for the consumer to control the vehicle. Dealer notified. The transmission leaked fluid andbarely moved.the dealer replaced the transmission drive assembly and the extension housing.the transmission slipped and slammed into gear.the dealer replaced the transmission again. *scc

My main complaint is about my trans. I have a 2000 monte carlo the overdrive does not work so i take it to gm they said i had a code stored on my computer and that the problem was a control or pressure regulator. They made the repair, called me and said well we have good news, the code is now gone but your overdrive still does not work .they were willing to negotiate a possible share the cost or they may cover the whole cost depending upon what they found ,yea right i had already spent 500 +, i said no and called gm's customer service .no help there. This problem was detected slightly after my warranty i feel that if a code is listed on the cars computer somehow the driver should be aware of it. I was probably driving with a defective part and not knowing it,causing major damage for who knows how long. The reason i am writing is because i check from time to time hoping to find a recall but every time i check all i find is more complaints on gm's 4t65e in a lot of other cars as well. I also have some of the other problems i see other people complaining about such as front brake and or caliper problems rattling and wearing out prematurely, heater core problems ,they put stop leak in my oil and antifreeze without telling me ,they did give me a ticket on that, about a week or two later they sent me a letter stating they if i paid to have any leaks repaired i may be untitled to refund and yes i now have an oil leak. If this letter can't help me out maybe it can help someone else out. I feel there are plenty of other people you probably have not heard from .than you.

Transmission sounded likemuffler was gone 20000 miles/ seconds 37111 . Transmission has been replaced twice. Dealershipwas aware ofproblem.

When the accelerator pedal was pressed from a complete stop the vehicle moved forward slightly then stalled.vehicle was towed to the dealer who indicated that the automatic transmission had gone bad.the consumer was told that this is a common problem. *nlm

Consumer is losing traction on wet pavement, feels like vehicle wants to slide.

While driving down the road, noticed smoke coming from under hood of my car. Pulled into parking lot, opened hood and seen flames coming out of the engine compartment near the front of the motor. Fire was put out by a service station attendant located across the street. Fire dept and police arrived at scene. Trans line leaked fluid onto header pipe which caused the fire.

The axle broke while driving at 70 mph.driver was not able to control the vehicle .vehicle was towed to the dealer for analysis, andmechanic replaced a main bolt attachment to the suspension because it sheared off.

Seat belts, driver side. The belt would be locked tight when i tried to put it on, it could not be moved,, i drove to bob schuck chevrolet in new ulm mn and told them what was wrong and a mechanic came out and pulled really hard on it,, finally it loosened up, at that time it was not in the loop on the head rest, that is the first time it happened. The second time it happened, it was through the loop, i did the same the thing the mechanic did the first time it happened and the loop busted clean off. I took it to the same dealer and told them about it and he ordered a new loop for it. I feel very strongly that this is a defective seat belt. I wrote the dealer telling him that i don't feel that i should have to pay for something that is defective in the first place, and he wrote stating that if i didn't pay the $23.00 that he would put a lien on my car. What a flippen joke!!!!!!!!!please respond.i would love to hear from anyone that has had problems with any gm product. My next car will be foreign!!!!!!!anyone can email me pertaing to gm products at [email protected].

Driver's and passenger's seat beltsareextremely tight. When driving seatbelts just tightened up for no apparent reason. Dealer has replacedseat belt ondriver's side, but the problem is still the same. Please provide any further information.

Shoulder belt with hoop attached to head rest comes across driver's neck, even after adjusting seat.when brakes were applied hard, shoulder belt choked the driver.owner stated that he examined newer models and noticed hoops were smaller and attached at a different location. The seat belts are very uncomfortable while in motion.the seat belt guides ride on the side of your neck instead of the shoulder.this has resulted in the driver and passenger receiving brush burns.consumer later found out that in the middle of 2001 the guide design had been changed.consumer had the guides ordered and replaced.*jg

Passenger seat is loose, dealer inspected but could not locate problem, console is peeling.

Passenger seat is loose, dealer inspected but could not locate problem, console is peeling.

Front passenger seat was moving forward, dealer determined that track was broken. Track was replaced, but seat is still moving.the passenger seat does not lock but moves on tracks. The dealer tried to fix it four times but the problem still not solved. Consumer states that when you stop the vehicle you can hear it move.

Driver seat failure- it just plain broke.i weigh 240 lbs, and the driver'sseat just broke under my weight getting in. It is now in pieces. The seat frame came apart at a weld near the front left corner.this potentially is an unsafe condition in that i don't know if the seat belts will continue to restrain me properly. I am having it fixed, but i drove around for 20,000 miles in this condition.

Driver side seatback does not lock.dealer advised consumer that driver's side seatwould onlylock up on impact.only way for a passenger to enter or exitrear seats is ifdriver's side seat is pulled up. Please additional information.

I just purchased this vehicle. The car is in great condition. However, for a vehicle with low miles, these problems should not be an issue. Abs braking system problems; suspension problems; noise in the tires. Abs light comes on and abs pump is making a humming sound; suspension, i have popping sounds when turning at slow speeds; loud humming sound coming from rear tires (i have read about the caliper issues with this model vehicle) i have yet to take and address the caliper problem but, my guess is that the brake calipers will need to be replaced. If these problems are happening to more and more of these cars, why has gm not recalled and fixed some of these problems. Mainly, the brake problems. This a potential life threatening problem. I am afraid to drive this car; i am worried that the breaks will fail, and i will crash the car. This saddens me that gm, the monstrous car manufacturer, has not fixed this problem that they sure know of. I will not be buying another gm model, and "i will" let others know all the problems i have had with gm model cars; this is not my first gm but, "will be" my last.

On highway and applied brakes when felt brake pedal pressure failing. At same time brake light and traction light indicators came on and pulled off the highway. Towed to a service place and told me the brake lines are all corroded and leaking. There is rust even on supports holding lines. Chevrolet doesn't make the lines anymore.

2000 monte carlolow coolent sensor quit 3 times poor design[moisture], rear anti lock sensor 2 twice.all in 4 years.dealers doesn't care.

Left front brakes shake violently and make loud grinding noise mostly on snow, ice, and wet pavement, the frame is cracked and consumer feels this was because of the faulty brakes.

I took the car to the dealer at 19000 miles due to shimmy in car.the replaced all rotors and calipers on the car.i again had the issue at 36100 miles the dealer would not replace and i called the gm customer service number.the said it is due to driver error and a maintenance item.i now have 53,000 miles on the car and need to replace everything again.shouldn't rotors and calipers last more than 20,000 miles???i have had numerous people approach me in parking lots complaining of the same issue.

Rear brakes wobble, causing a bad vibration that can be felt through the seat when driving.at around 11,000 miles i took the car back to the dealer.the rotors were turned on all 4 wheels.this helped, but after about 2000 miles the wobble and vibration returned.i feel there is a problem with the anti-lock brakes causing the vibration, because when i mash on the brakes hard the vibration is much less, sometimes no vibration at all.the car does not want to stop well unless pressing hard on the brake pedal, especially when wet.i am sending you this message because i feel there is a problem with the anti-lock braking system and i am tired of being treated like i am a liar and i am stupid.i have driven several hundreds ofthousands of miles and i know how brakes are supposed to work.the brakes on this car do not perform properly.my driving habits allow me to get 70,000 plus miles on a set of brakes. I currently have a 1999 dodgeram with over 70,000 miles, that will not need brakes for another 30,000 miles probably.i need your assistance in this matter.thank you.

Abnormal brake rotor wearing.

Vehicle suddenly shuddered upon braking, had longer than normal stopping distance.hit debris in road, causing wheel and alignment damage.all four rotors determined to be prematurely warped, probably due to defective manufacturing.chevrolet disllowed claim for repairs, citing "no service records for vehicle at dealership from where purchased"!

I have a 2000 monte carlo ls coupe that i purchased on 10/2000.i started experiencing front brake vibrations at 11000 miles.the dealer said the front rotor went out-of round and they resurfaced them.this vibration returned at the 22000-mile mark.back to the dealer i went and this time they had to replace the front rotors.well the car just reached the 32000-mile mark and the vibration is back.again i see the dealer for this problem and this time theyre claiming that this is a wearable item and they can not cover it under the vehicle warranty, and that there would a charge.apparently something is causing this problem to recur every 11 12 thousand miles, and i know its not my driving habit, i have driven different cars/trucks for 28 years and never had rotors to warp. I called the gm customer service number and all they would say is that they agree with the dealer, though they filed it and gave me the file #1-120464560.ive heard and read of this same problem from other owners of monte carlo and impalas all around the 2000 2003 models.so it looks like gm doesn't want to look at this problem or do anything about it until something bad happens.

Rotors have not been replaced but the shaking is getting worse.

Consumer states: brakesfailed, the brakes were fine allof a suddenbrake pedal went to the floor.the brake line rusted completely. Brake lines were made out of cheap steel and were coated with some type of heavy paint. They only rusted in one spot, and that was on the portion of the brake line that was not coated in the heavy paint.the brake line components were replaced. *sb

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. He stated he noticed a large puddle of fluid after reversing from a parking space. As he depressed the brake pedal, the pedal fell into the floorboard much farther than usual. The contact inspected the vehicle and found that both brake lines on the driver's and passenger's side were rusted and fractured. The contact replaced the brake lines. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was contacted. The failure and current mileages were 138,000.updated 09/28/10 updated 10/01/10

2000 chevrolet monte carlo. Intermediate steering shaft. Part repair under warranty at 25848 miles and needed to be repair again at 47070. *mcthe consumer stated the dealer used a lube kit to temporarily fix the problem.

2000 chevy monte carlo with intermediate steering shaft problems customer states that he has taken his car in twice for this problem and all they do is lube the part and he is concerned that the part is going to break while he is driving**cc the consumer stated he heard noises within the steering column.

Consumer heard a rattling noise coming from the steering column while traveling over bumps at any speed.the dealer replaced the intermediate shaft.

Clunk noise from front of vehicle during turning maneuver/steering wheel rotation.the car dealer has temporarily fixed this problem twice and it is now happening again.i was told there is not a part available to fix it permantly and they won't fix it again under warranty until there is a recall.

Steering problemsclunking noises when moving, turning either forward or backward.gets much worse when the weather is cold.

My husband was recently involved in an accient in his 2000 chevrolet monte carlo due to steering problems.this resulted in a roll-over x2 and total loss.i have contacted gm to discuss the problem and they insist that it should be handled by our insurance carrier.since the accident, i have found that gm issued a recall (03062) for power steering problems.i have done further research and found that this is not a one time incident, others have complained of very similiar problems with the same vehicle.

The contact owns a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the accelerator pedal became unresponsive and the steering wheel seized causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle and crash. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the back, neck and the head that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was unknown.

Around august 2004 the tie rob was replaced dur to excessive wear.passanger widndow began making grinding noises when raised and lowered.eater/ - a/c vent makes whining noise when used.rack and pinion steering was repalced due to leaks. Was found by the vehicle failing to pass the maryland safety inspection.all problems were reported to gm customer service by telephone.

2000 chevy monte carlo with steering problems. Loud "popping" or "clunking" noise when turning at slow speeds. I've found several recalls for 2000 chevy monte carlo but it states my car isn't affected. Older model cars have issues with wear & tear but if there is a consistent problem with a make/model of car i would hope gm would investigate and prevent accidents. While going through the list of complaints it's very obvious it is a continuous problem and should be addressed asap. How many lives need to be lost before a total recall is issued?

There is a rattling noise in the front drivers side coming from the wheel and felt in the steering when driving at lower speeds

While driving, the steering wheel lock up without warning. Dealer notified. The power steering gear and tie rod was replaced.

The contact owned a 2000 chevrolet monte carlo. While driving 40 mph, the power steering failed. The contact applied the brakes and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a cement divider. The back seat passenger suffered a broken nose and received medical attention. The contact was unsure if a police report was filed. In addition, the power windows stopped working. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was unknown.

I purchased the 2000 chevrolet monte carlo new. After about 18 months the steering column had a rattling or clunking noise. I took it back to the dealer and he immediately knew what the problem was and replaced the "intermediate steering shaft" . That solved the problem. Now at 45,000 miles the same problem is occuring again and the vehicle is out of warrantee. Is this not a defect in the manufacturing of the vehicle? it is rarely driven except on trips. Other people apparently experience the same problems.

Steering: clunk felt/noise heard from my steering column. Steering gear and or front of the vehicle during braking/going up and down a driveway movement of my steering wheel rotation. My mother is a senior citizen and this will be the second time she will have to get her car fixed for this.once two years again and now.general motors chevy should have a recall for this.why does the owner have to pay..this should be recalled.steering shaft bar i do not remember what the dealer said.. He said it will cost $100 this time to be fixed. My mother is on a low income she cannot be replacing and getting this fixed every two years.thanks youregina clay

I bought my 2000 chev monte carlo new in jan 2000. At approx 20000 miles i took it into the dealer because of 'rattling & clunking" noise in steering column. The dealer determined that it was the 'intermediate shaft" - it was fixed/replaced by the dealer at that time. At 37k miles - the same problem. Again, the dealer replaced the intermediate shaft. Now, at 77k miles - the same problem again. This time the dealer and gm will not pay for or cover the repair. While everyone admits that this is unusual - they say "it is out of warranty". I believe that a failure of this part is a significant safety issue and should be investigated. According to a source at the dealer - the failure of this part is a common complaint, however, replacing this unit 3 times is not a common occurence. Your file odi id # 10037817 make reference to the same issue as mine. I greatly appreciate your looking at this. Thanks.

The intermediate steering shaft was failing, noticable clunking feeling coming through the steering wheel when making turns at low speeds.dealership said there was no safety issue. The shaft was on back order(as if there have been many problems).

Very hard turning especially when cold. Loud wining noises when turning wheel.was unable to check fluid level due to pump being located under the rear of the engine compartment. Was diagnosed as leaking hose leading to rack unit and pump failure. That was replaced in april 2004. Car was just diagnosed with bad rack unit and pump again in may 2006. Mileage at first incident was 52000, car now has 74000 with the same symptoms. $1800 est for repair that only lasts 22000 miles???

Intermediate steering link replacement.

Consumer complainedaboutrack and pinion steering. Which hadto be replaced at 53,000 miles and at 58,000 miles.currently, at 68,000 miles rack and pinion had to bereplaced again.however, warranty expired.

The rack and pinionfailed twice in one year, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

Steering wheel would make popping noise when turning. Had take vehicleto dealership, mechanic replacedrack and pinion only.popping noise reappeared after driving for awhile. Went back to dealer, and pinion was replaced again. Next day, popping noise came back . Consumerwent back todealer, andengine cradle was replaced. Then, popping noise has reappeared. Taking vehicle back again to dealer.

Dealer had to replace vehicle's engine cradle due to a design defect.

Consumeris losing traction on wet pavement, feels like vehicle wants to slide. The wheel were about to fall ofshaking bad at high speed due to loose and missing lug nuts.strut is leaking.defective tire235/45/17( no make/model of tire provide) causing vibration, drifting and sliding.bent wheels replaced causing vibration. Cradle were too short causing the vehicle to creak when turning.

Dealer had the car for ten weeks.gmc platform engineer built engine cradle for this vehicle.

We have had this problem since the car was approx. 6 months old.the engine cradle has been changed and the problem has returned.it has been to the service dept. 4 times and they just keep us on a waiting list.theproblem is in the steering.when you turn the steering wheel to the left or right , you get a banging or loud creaking noise.we have been told it is safe to drive, but it seems to be getting worse and we are fearful something is going to let go while we are driving. We are very satisfied with the car other then this problem...i hope you can give us some kind of advise or answer to our problem, because the dealer sure has not.

A popping noise was heard, when the vehicle made a turn.

Engine cradle mounting welds ,which were already weak from factory, came apart from the steering gear which could have caused loss ofcontrol.

Console is peeling.

The center plastic console where stick shift is has peeled twice & an employee at the dealership stated to me that he had seen the same problems in corvettes (this employeee dosn't work at this dealership anymore) i have written to the manufacturer & i have a case #04248222 from the cust. Assistance at chevrolet phone # 800-222-1020 spoke to michael steele on 5/1801 & also jonathan on 1/30/02 nobody seems to know or want to tell me if this is a manufacturers defect it might be the material they are using to finish this part on the vehicle is defective . Once my warranty is up i will have to bear the expense of replacing this plastic center console & it's not a cheap part. I would like the dealership at least to extend my warranty if the chevrolet company ok's this. I can't be replacing this particular part every so many months indefenetely for the length of the life of this vehicle it's rediculous!

Passenger seat is loose, dealer inspected but could not locate problem, console is peeling.

My 2000 chevrolet monte carlo ls developed a water leak in it on the passenger side in the floor area coming from under the dash. The car is going to be repaired at the same dealership where i bought it new. I was informed by the repair person there has been similar problems with other models made by gm (buick was mentioned). It appears there is a defect in an area under the dash on the passenger side where a passenger air filter was supposed to be but not in my car. In that area, rainwater builds up and swells some seals and eventually lets water in through that defective area. I thought it would be worth reporting this since it has been in other vehicles as well. Please let me know if you may need more info or if this needs to be reported elsewhere.

Vehicle was involved in a minor low speed collision, the hood striker pulled out of the hood and when the owner attempted to drive home the hood flew up causing no visibility and damage to the roof, upon inspection the repairman noticed that the striker was braided to the hood instead of welded, he believes this is a poor design (body shop repairman wrote in for consumer).nl

Chevy issued a tech notice to re weld subframe, they did this and it does not hold dealer now replacing cradle with a modified one from the 2001 very dangerous if cradle breaks off car

While traveling on the highwayand without prior warning the vehicle will sway from side to side.please furnish additional information dealer is aware of the problem.

When backing up and turning the wheel or going forward and turning the wheel, there is a clunking noise coming from the front end. I've had a garage check the front end and they can't find anything loose. As a precaution i've changed tierods, hub assemblies and bushing, still can't find the problem.

Steering wheel make a clinking sound when you turn the wheel you can also feel it when you put the brakes on.

I too, like all the others have experienced major front end problems with this car.it's always vibrated and i've always heard "noises."the dealer did try to rectify this situation by replacing my rack and pinion and replacing my tie rod ends, because both of my front tires were about to fall off.i've extremely scared to put my children in this car, but have no choice.now, as of today my emergency brake light and "trac off" light stay on constantly.so there is just one more problem to add to the list of things that have gone wrong with only 48,000 miles.i've been experiencing problems since i purchased the car. Ts

While driving at highway speed, vehicle vibrates and shakes, dealer cannot locate problem, macpherson strut failed, consumer had to replace.

I have had a vibration in the front of the vehicle from the day i purchased it. I have had it back to the dealerand they can't find the problem. I have had tire's replaced, the rotor's replaced, had tires balanced numerous times and am still having problem's. I have contacted gm about the problem and they keep ignoring my request to have the vehicle repaired or replaced.dt

I was proceeding to go up a hill and pressed on the pedal for a little more gas when all of a sudden it felt like the pedal caught on something and was being pulled closer to the floorboard and the car going faster and faster even after i took my foot off. I tapped the pedal two or three times before it finally let loose and engine was not racing.it has happenedtwotimes before but it was not as bad.i wanted to check on your site to see if there had been a recall before i take it to the garage.

Vehicle rolls back when on a hill, and it's even worse when a/c is on.rpm's aren't sufficient enough to hold vehicle on a hill.*ml
