I was driving home after work on a gravel road, the road pulled me into a ditch where i then impacted on a concrete slab but none of my airbags went off leaving me vulnerable to life sustaining injuries. I ended up with broken ribs and bruises all over because my airbags did not go off in my car accident.

Had a car accident on september 17, 2019 my car stalled while making left turn had this problem since i purchased this car also my tires continued to go on flat

I have a 2018 chevrolet malibu . Lately after i park my car itā€™s comes up on my screen toshift to park. But the problem is that my vehicle is already in park mode. What iā€™m trying to find out if there have been any other complaints or concern regarding this issue. Iā€™m 83 years old and i drive my vehicle minimally. Itā€™s only has 9100 in mileage and iā€™ve taken it to my dealership in parkville, md 21234(jerryā€™s chevrolet)since my purchase date in march of 2018. Iā€™ve done every service requested by schedule. I need to know if i take this in is this covered issue under my power train warranty since this controls my car movement. Itā€™s very disturbing to me that it would not be, again iā€™m a senior citizen on a fixed income and every penny count these days.i look forward to hearing from someone please. My vehicles as in park

The power shifter in the car needed to be replaced. As with many of the other recent complaints i see on here, when i went to turn off the car it popped up the "shift to park" warning even though i was already in park and wouldn't power off the radio or lights. It appears this is a consistent problem with all of the 2018 malibu's and should be recalled.

My car was recalled for a reduced power issue in april 2020.the vehicle was experiencing low power when driving, causing sluggishness and turning off when stopped at traffic signals.the car was taken to ourisman chevrolet in marlow heights, md on april 4th and the recall was addressed.as of this writing, i am experiencing the exact same issue of low power when driving/stopping and am concerned that the issue (1) was not properly addressed, or (2) was misdiagnosed by chevrolet.what is my recourse here?i have another appointment to have the vehicle looked at, again, at a charge of $190, which i don't feel i should be responsible for.

While driving my 2018 malibu with only 7500 miles on it, the car would not accelerate.i pushed the gas pedal to the floor and the car had no power and i almost was in a crash with another vehicle.a lot of lights came on the dashboard and the gauges went to zero. An error message displayed that said something like engine power reduced and the check engine light came on.the gas gauge and others acted like the car was shut off.this is very dangerous for me and my family as traffic in the northern virginia area is very heavy.i pulled to the side of the road and shut the car off.i tried to restart it and it would not restart for 10 minutes. When it did restart the check engine light was still on and the car still had very limited power.this needs fixed asap.it is currently at the dealer where i bought it from in november of 2018.i told them about the power problem when i had the first service oil change done and they said there was nothing they could do about it.i bought a new car so that i wouldn't have any problems andnow i have to deal with this product that no one wants to fix.please find a solution to this problem as it is life threatening.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine). The recall repair was performed at autonation chevrolet waco (located at 1625 n valley mills dr, waco, tx 76710, (254) 236-6415). Shortly after the vehicle was serviced, while driving 60 mph, the vehicle began to seize and was moved over to the side of the road. The vehicle was restarted and the failure continued while the contact was driving to his destination. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact called the dealer back and was informed that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 46,000.

After turning on my heater and driving the car 10 minutes the car caught fire. I smelled something burning when i parked and got out of the vehicle, but thought it was coming from outside the vehicle. I came back to my car 2 hours later and the fire department had been out and the front end of my car was completely charred.

I turned on my car and it said 'reduced engine power' on the screen and i could only accelerate up to 35mph. I was going up hill it felt like my car was barely moving. Turns felt much slower going uphill when driving in residential areas.

As i was exiting the freeway and stoped on the off ramp, i tried to step on the gas pedal to go but my car did not want to go. My steering wheel was locked, my bluetooth cut off, and the check engine light went on. I turned on my hazard lights and put my car in park. I tried to shut it off but it didn't shut off right away. I pushed the off button a few times before it finally shut off. When i turned it back on, i drove to th e nearest parking lot and put it in park. Only this time, the message "shift to park" popped up. My vehicle was already shifted to park but the system obviously couldn't comprehend. My car only has 61,845 miles!! it should not be having these issues so soon!!

Was driving the car on the highway the speed control was on the car powered down almost made us wreck and the check engine light came on followed by the power down alert the car was dragging in speed and could not accelerate. There is only 35000 miles on this vehicle.

Warning messages light up "steering power is diminished, drive with care", something pertaining to brakes and battery, the warnings flash so quickly i can't read them all. The car goes dead when i stop, shuts down completely with dash lights going completely out, then a very slow restart as the lights brighten very slowly. After the third time yesterday and today i had to put the car in "park for it to restart at a stop light and now it will not start at all,

In motion on highway at 60 mph, my car acceration shut down and i started losing speed even though i was pressing acellerator.at this time my car started to down shift and the more i stepped on the accellerator nothing happened.my car then turned off on the highway.iimmediately shifted to park and started the vehicle again because i was in fear of getting rear ended. We have taken the car to the dealership 4 times for them to fix it and the last time, they said there was nothing wrong with it.we still have exceleration issues with this vehicle.we got a recall notice of software from chevrolet but the dealer ship is unaware of the repair and i do not believe they can correct this problem.we bought this car new and it has been in the shop 4 times for this recall.we wish to receive a new car for safety reasons.we are taking the car to the dealership again today but i am afraid to drive the vehicle.

Car powered down while driving all the lights lite up on the dashboard. When driving it either speeds up on its own or while driving it will just go slower without me letting up off the gas.

When driving, message will appear on dash stating that engine power is reduced. My car will go in to limp mode, and will not increase higher than about 340 rpm, and cannot accelerate faster than 25 mph. Sometimes i have been i have been able to pull over to the side and restart my engine, and this error will go away. There were a couple times where this error did not immediately go away after restarting my engine and i was forced to drive home at 25 mph. Luckily i have no been rear ended yet, but this is a serious issue and is frequent with 2018 malibu's according to several online articles.

My vehicle has an electrical issue with the power windows and the radio. The power windows will stop working if i try to adjust them to the perfect height for me, forcing me to have to press buttons on another window in order to be able to go back to the window that i would like to adjust. This problem is present in all four windows.the major problem is that the car has some sort of power issue that has been recognized by the chevrolet dealerships that i have taken it to but it still has not been fixed. In the middle of driving the car loses power and will not move forward at a regular pace and begins to struggle to move forward while the rpm's build up bringing it close to redlining. At that point it will begin to move and jerk when it finally shifts into gear and will do it a second time immediately after the first jerk and begin to drive normal. It has nearly killed my pregnant wife and myself multiple times. It has nearly gotten my younger cousin and i killed on the expressway by struggling to drive while placing in the path of a oncoming semi. We brought the car in late december of 2018 and the problems started about a few days short of a week into the new year. This car is dangerous and from what i understand there are drivers of the chevy cruze experiencing some of the same issues.

I have a 2018 chevrolet malibu and i have trouble putting the car into park. The problem is the gear selector switch. When you put the car from drive into park a metal bar pushes up onto a blue button which sends a signal to the car's computer that the car is now in park. I spoke to a dealer and they told me that 2017,2018 and 2019 malibu's are known for this problem and it would be $900 to correct the dealer knew what it was before i even finished telling them about the problem.i never know if the is in park

Car won't shift to park, while it's already in park and car will not turn off. Chevrolet should recall this because there are a lot of people with the same issue. My car was brand new when i bought it and now i'm having this issue and i know it's nothing i have done to cause it.

The contact called on behalf of the vehicle owner/driver her daughter. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving a 2018 chevrolet malibu at approximately 50 mph, the stabilitrak warning light suddenly illuminated as power was reduced causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into the center median causing damage to the vehicle. No injuries were reported and no police report was filed. The contact stated received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine). The vehicle was towed to the local body shop. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,447.

When i put car in park a message comes up on the dash to shift to park even thou car is already in park. Car has 100k warranty but dealer says this safety switch not covered or recalled. Reading online this seems to be a common problem. Should be recalled.

The first time the vehicle shut off was cruising out of a parking lot, it did so for a split second. The next time was at my house, i needed to go run to the store. I tried starting it. It said "shift to park" but i was in park. Then it said "service stabilitrack system", and then something along the lines of "power steering service required". I waited and tried for hours and then eventually called for a tow truck.

Reduced engine power light came on while driving on highway and loss of power occured. The car was still running, but it slowed down to a stop on the highway. Battery and electric system was still on, but the dash and everything else dimmed out as well. There was no warning and vehicle was driving about 40 mph.

Car shut off in the middle of driving. With no engine light on. Engine light randomly comes on every other week. Tps doesn't function properly. Idles high some days then drives normally. Sensors was changed engine light comes back on a week later with same code vacuum sensor, maf,

When i'm sitting at a stop light awaiting my turn to proceed with my foot on the break the car is fine. After sitting at the light and it's time to drive, i remove my foot from the break and my car shuts completely off. When i apply a little gas the car turns back on and it malfunctions even more. My dash board goes haywire with different error messages. It says the fuel is low which it is not, i could have a full tank. The back door is unlocked, i've never seen that message before until the malfunction. My blinker tone even changes and my car is reluctant to accelerate. This has occurred twice now.

Once my car is stopped and i shift to 'p'(park) and i try to turn off my vehicle it still gives me the 'shift to park' message. The shift gear has previously been replaced by the car dealership. However and unfortunately, it started to do it again. It has under 36,000 miles on it and we thought the issue had been fixed already but it started to do it again less then a year later.

While driving on the freeway at speeds of up to 80 mph at random times the car will suddenly slow itself down to 20 mph and the dash will message that engine power is reduced. It's a serious problem that is dangerous to not only the people in the vehicle but all other vehicles on the road also.

2018 malibu shift to park message. This issue is very common and people are being charged $700 plus dollars by dealerships to fix. There should be a recall for this problem.

The onstar system shocked my husband. The car won't start sometimes. The dash board reads different things when attempting to start car. The vehicle was parked in the yard with nothing plugged up to drain the battery.

The car says it's not in park when you shut it off. The fob seems to not respond sometimes. Sometimes it won't start and tells you to put it into the center console pocket but it still won't respond. It will say there is no fob in the car. I replaced the battery to make sure that wasn't the issue. Even with the fob in the car, it set off the alarm when i tried to start it. It took almost 5 minutes for it to respond to shut the alarm off but it would let me lock the doors while sitting inside it. So it registers the unlock and locking mechanism but nothing else sometimes.

Shift to park appears when car is definitely in park already

In may of 2020 i took my vehicle to a chevrolet dealership in woodbridge,va for a ecm recall on my vehicle. After waiting for them to do the recall they stated nothing was wrong with my vehicle. From october to current my vehicle has been doing everything that was stated in the recall which lead me to believe that they never changed the part. My vehicle has shut off on me in the middle of the road almost causing me a accident and most days now it won't even start. I got my battery checked out and my battery tested 100% so i know that wasn't the problem. I called the dealership and they said i would have to pay to get that part replaced. Why should i have to pay when it's only been a couple of months since the recall, something isn't right. Please address this issue. -thank you!

Car turned off in the middle of the road. Engine was completely off as well as no lights were on. So i could not put it on neutral to push it out of the road. I had several near misses where it could have gone badly. Also, took it to the dealership and nothing was found. Car still turns off for no apparent reason

Car is stationary while waiting for red light to change, the car will shut off and reduced driving assistance error message will pop up before turning back on. The radio will also cut out in process of car turning back on frim auto shut off. It has been happening for over a month and seems to get worse. Engine light came on today aswell

Car turns off and dashboard blinks. Assisted steering control not engaged lights up.

The contact's daughter-in-law owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, the vehicle would shut-off without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle would eventually restart after multiple attempts and would resume normal driving operation. As the failure persisted, the evap warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. Upon investigation, the contact discovered nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine) which he linked to the failure. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

The car says it is not in park when it is. It will not shut off because it is not in park.

While going highway speeds on my 2018 malibu, i received a notification on my dash that said my engine was losing power. After clearing the notification, my car dropped in mph and i couldn't go faster than 60mph. After a minute or two after that, my mph dropped again and i couldn't go faster than 25 mph while my rpms were spiking at 4000. I took it to a mechanic who said the acceleration sensor is bad and i had to replace my accelerator and was forewarned that this is is going to happen again because it's a factory defect. I know i'm not the only one with this problem given there's a class action lawsuit already out there. But i wanted to add to the masses so chevy is forced to fix this issue before people get seriously hurt.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that gear selector was placed in the park position and the vehicle was turned off however, the electrical system remained in operation. The contact called wally edgar chevrolet (3805 s lapeer rd, orion charter township, mi 48360) and the dealer was informed of the failure. The contact stated that the power train was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Car engine will not turn over. System says 'engine power reduce' and 'service stabilitrak.' brake clicks and locks when been pressed down, steering wheel also locks.

Water leaking from under the glove box. Has passenger front and back floor soaked. Foul smell car losing power in fuel injector. Stalling while driving.p0317 and other codes. Has been inspected by gateway buick in past, they charged me 200 dollars and the nhtsa issue said they would not. The vehicle is not running and will not crank.

Power steering reducing and the car will shut off temporarily i had my car serviced for this already 2 weeks ago for the same problem now it's happening again

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. After the contact shifted the vehicle into park, the shift to park warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle was unable to be locked. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The contact stated that she never experienced the failure in the past. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 28,844.

Vehicle is not registering in park, when gear shifter is in park.started doing this approximately 2 weeks ago and is progressively getting worse

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. While driving and approaching a stop light, the vehicle stalled without warning and lost power. The contact was able to coast to the side of the road and power off the engine. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to ourisman chevrolet of baltimore (6633 security blvd, baltimore, md 21207, (410) 265-7777) where it was diagnosed that the ecm failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 9-5537893606. The failure mileage was approximately 2,141.

When car is stationary waiting for red light to change, the car will shut off and power cycle showing stabilitrak error message before turning back on. This also occurs when the car is stationary and engine is off for several hours.

The car doesn't start when i press the starter button. It clicks, turns off, and then factory resets all the dash electronics. It's been doing it ever since i got the car and even when at a stop while the car was on, the fuel saving systems will shut off my car at the light but it won't turn back on when i start to lift my foot off brakes.

Drivers seat will not move forward or backwards. Seat is locked in the forward position and will not move backwards.

When my car cut off at the light and when it try to start back up it stale for a second and says stabilize then start up. When i start the car up it says the same thing. It erase all my favorite on the radio and reset everything. Been doing this for about two weeks now

Transmission system is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the ignition system which oversees the timing and spark necessary to ignite fuel into the engine. Gm and chevrolet dealerships are claiming there is no problem however engine light comes on and on-star reports problems and nothing is fixed. Brand new car with 8600 miles and less then a year old.

I put my car into park and turn the car off. The dashboard tells me that i need to 'shift to park' even though my car is in park. The radio and dashboard will not turn off until i get my car to register that it is in park. Have to turn the car on and off, shift into gears, and back into park to try and get it to register. Eventually after doing that multiple times it will register. Another issue is with the radio and blue tooth. I turned my car off and everything was off. My nephew came over later and asked why my radio was on. Radio randomly turns on when car is/has been off for periods of time. I have automatic start and i started my car from inside work one day and then my blue tooth (music &phone calls) would not play over my speakers. No music would play from the radio either. The volume would turn up and down by itself. Took it to the dealership for the radio issues and they said they couldnt find anything wrong with it. I take it in soon for the 'shift to park' issue.

I've had the car for about 54 days as of today and at 47 days into owning the car, it is starting to shut off completely in the middle of traffic while stationary when the auto-off shuts the engine off and i would have to wait at least 20 mins minimum until the car would start again. While trying to start the car, it would say battery needs recharge/service stabilitrak. Since having this issue the a/c also stopped working.

The locks will lock/unlock on their own. The battery has to be constantly jumped. The car rejected the ecw module update.

Engine lost power on interstate highway. While this did not result in a crash/ rear end collision, the potential for such injury seems high.1-2 days prior there were some warning lights (check engine light). Called a dealership tuesday morning and earliest service appointment was in one week but they assured me that the car was drivable in the meantime. On wednesday afternoon my son was driving on the interstate and there was a new message ā€œengine power reducedā€¯, and a sudden loss of power.eventually got the car to nearest chevrolet dealership. Their technician took over a week to figure out what was wrong; eventually they replaced the ecm but still had problems. After a software update to ecm the problem finally appears to be resolved.please note that similar problem has been reported with other malibu models, but my malibu hybrid was not recalled. Please consider a recall of all gmmodels similar to the malibu

I was driving my 2018 chevy malibu ls that i haven't owned for more then 30 days and my check engine light came on in the driveway when i started it up to let it warm since it was winter so i took it to christenson chevrolet in highland indiana and the code u01b0 came up which is the battery sensor module and the dealer told me there is no fix for it and engineering is looking into it and the paperwork they gave me shows they have had this problem with the 2017 and 2018 models and no fix yet. They are selling cars with defects and i told them i wanted a different model or same model and they told me i had to talk to corporate which i did and corporate told me i had to talk to the dealer so now i am in the workings of filing a lawsuit for lemon law since they have no intention on fixing this problem since now the remote start won't work since this issue and corporate isn't doing anything which is fine because the courts will work this out chevrolet use to be a good reliable company but not anymore

Delayed eccel electrical steering an battery loss. Tire low warning reset for all tires continue to come on, battery dies brought car to dealer they sai it had only 1 recall an it was fixed

When the left turning signal is on and foot on brakes the vehicle cuts off all lights on dashboard light up and when you put the vehicle in park and try to recrank a message stated no gasoline.

While i was driving on the road, the vehicle has shut off completely as i approached a complete stop at a red light. I attempted to turn on the hazard lights but unable to start the vehicle, until it is jump started it will start, i was able to continue driving. Once i arrived at home and i parked the vehicle, it completely shut itself off and i was unable to restart the vehicle. After several attempts to start the vehicle it just started again. Which i was able to lock the vehicle with the remote. This has happened several times now on different dates.

2018 chevy malibu.first started with corroded wires under the car which has lead to the usb port melting my cellphone charger which was fixed but after that the ac/heater only would blow out the defroster that got fixed. Car had about 20,000 miles. My car had a recall for the ecm module needed updated but auto nation said it didn't need to be updated after getting my car back it wouldn't start i would have to lock it unlock it open the door a few times and then it would start, so my battery got fried because something was draining it paid 200$ for a new one because auto nation said they didn't touch the car because it didn't need an update but what gets me is they had to plug into it to find out it didn't need an update, then the car started saying (shifter to park) got gm corporate involved and they made an appointment 1/13/2020 at chapman for me to take my car in to figure out that i needed a new wiring harness from the shifter to the transmission and they updated the ecm module but yet auto nation said it didn't need the update, so basically the auto nation doesn't want to take responsibility for the car messing up. I sat at auto nation for 45 minutes and they didn't touch my car. Something isn't right and no one wants to take responsibility.yesterday i picked my car up from chapman 1/27/2020, they replaced the wiring harness from the shifter to the transmission, today 1/28/2020 i'm getting the same message 'shift to park'. I'm getting tired of the run around with brittany and having 3-4 other people call that doesn't know the situation and don't know what to do with this situation. So now the miles are at 59,000 miles no warranty. This isn't a reliable car. Gm said is our fault why this happen that is what taylor the advisor told us today 2/3/2020. Still having the same issue with the park to shift as of 11/24/2020.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start while pressing the push to start button. The vehicle was taken to reed chevrolet located at 4500 raeford rd, fayetteville, nc 28304, where it was diagnosed that the ecm and the accelerator pedal needed to be replaced. A year later, the failure recurred.the vehicle was taken to the same dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.

I brought my car back in june . I've been having problems and thinking it's only my battery back to back . I've been stopped in the middle of the street where my car would just come off . One time jso police had to give my car a jump in the middle of the street at a left turning light. My car have stopped on beach blvd which was early in the day in the middle of the street . It got to the point where i had to get a portable jump starter.i looked into it & got brand new parts for so many things and one day it just wouldn't crank anymore . The lights and radio and everything come on and everything but it's not cranking anymore . I called many chevrolets and was informed bythat many 2018 chevrolet malibu's were recalled and no dealership in my town is trying to help me . The gas goes out the car very fast and everything. The car has been doing this for months but now it's finally to the point where it won't come on again . I'm only 19 and was just 18 when i brought my car on my own in the first place and now i'm stuck without anything to do.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine). The contact called anderson chevrolet at 888-312-6558 (located at 31201 auto center dr, lake elsinore, ca 92530) and was informed that the parts were not available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure.parts distribution disconnect.

Once the engine is shut off it'll say 'shift to park'but the car is already in park. It'll pop up as an error. I'll have to push up my shift gear further for the notification to go away.

During auto stop feature of 20108 malibu, car will pop up with "steering assist reduced, please drive with care" message and disappear. Car will also shut off at various times during auto stop. Chevy dealership will not calibrate car to fix issue.

Whenever i put my car in park, i get a warning message to put my car in park, even though it is already in park.i have to jiggle the shifter for the warning to go away.sometimes i can't even tell if the car is in park or not

The car is in park but a message shows, on the instrument panel, "shift to park". The car cannot be locked and the warning message stays on because the car thinks it's not in park. This is a recurring problem that was corrected by pushing on the shifter but now the message is staying on.

It keeps giving the shift to park when the vehicle its in full park already.

My right blinker and brake light keep shorting out. It will be fine for a few days and then stop working.also, the interior carpet is too short and keep coming out of the trim in the front area s of the vehicle.

When putting the vehicle in park, a message comes on the dash saying 'shift to park'. The vehicle is already in park, but the car doesn't pick that up. It is a known chevy issue that they have yet to recall. Happens almost every time i drive.

Engine power is reduced wen you going at 50 to 60 in the freeway is dangerously

My 2018 malibu has the "shift to park" issue.i have an appointment with a chevy dealer this week. I hope i don't have to pay for the repair.

When i put my car in park, a message appear on the dashboard 'shift to park'. It won't let my car turn off completely

When the car is shifted to park, the car does not register that it is in park. The car then has to be turned on, the shifter moved back to drive, and then back to park again. The car then has to be shut off again, and if i am lucky, the message goes away. If it does not, i have to repeat this process over and over again until the message does go away.this is a common issue specifically in chevrolet malibus dating back to the 2016 model. This should be a recall issue given that it is widespread and the fact the gm makes people pay to repair their faulty parts out of warranty is ridiculous.

The contact owned a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact's student attempted to place the vehicle into park; however, the vehicle continued to move forward independently. The driver attempted to place the vehicle into reverse, but it continued to move forward. In addition, the contact mentioned that the check engine and low power mode indicators illuminated. The vehicle continued to roll as the driver attempted to stop and it crashed into a boulder. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The contact spoke with crain chevrolet (9911 i-30, little rock, ar 72209, (501) 436-4484) and was informed to tow the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was sent to the collision department and the contact had the vehicle towed back to her apartment for insurance purposes. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact not to touch the vehicle. The contact was informed to take the vehicle to an authorized chevrolet dealer so that it could be assessed by an investigator. After some back and forth with the original dealer, the vehicle was towed to gwatney chevrolet (1301 t p white dr, jacksonville, ar 72076, (501) 295-4448) where an investigator determined that they could not find any fault with the vehicle. Recently, the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine) the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 29,196.

When putting my car in park to turn off, the car doesn't recognize it's in park and thus won't turn off. As such, i cannot leave the vehicle.

I was driving on the freeway when i was forced to go over a cardboard box that happened to be on my lane. I felt it hit the underside of my car. A few minutes later, i smelled smoke and i was also alerted by surrounding drivers to pull over. I immediately pulled over and ran out of the vehicle to about 100ft away. I could see flames in the front of the car. By the time i reached out to emergency services and they got to the location, the car was completely on fire.

During operations while turning car locked up; lost power, lost steering. With engine running the radio and ac shut off.drifted to shoulder of road. Illuminated dash lights: power steering drive with care, traction control, emergency brake, abs light, temp showed cold, no gear indicator light. Operated car less than 5mph approx. 1/4 mile and shut engine off. During operations it sounded as though brakes were on (screeching/clanking). Once engine shutdown stabilitrak light illuminated intermittently with power steering. Doors would not unlock, windows would not go down (trapped in vehicle 10 min). Brake pedal locked, car would not start. 45 min later car started. All illuminated lights cleared, check engine light illuminated.vehicle towed to dealership.dealership investigated. Several fault codes were present. Each fault code pertained to vehicles communication. Vehicle lost communication with everything. Dealership stated difficult/impossible to follow any sort of direction for fix. Dealership drove car and could not replicate incident. Asked me to drive and recreate problem then to bring back.car is unsafe.instantly locked up during operation, trapped me inside, left me stranded and scared me.refuse to drive.gm was contacted; awaiting guidance.

Car engine will not turn over. System says 'engine power reduce' and 'service stabilitrak.' brake clicks and locks when been pressed down, steering wheel also locks.

Engine power is reduced wen you going at 50 to 60 in the freeway is dangerously

The first time the vehicle shut off was cruising out of a parking lot, it did so for a split second. The next time was at my house, i needed to go run to the store. I tried starting it. It said "shift to park" but i was in park. Then it said "service stabilitrack system", and then something along the lines of "power steering service required". I waited and tried for hours and then eventually called for a tow truck.

I was driving in a neighborhood about 15 mph. My car began to shake, the engine light was blinking, stability track light was on, and an icon came up saying that the 'service stablitrek.' i had little control over the steering and i felt no traction while trying to pull over. I also have a problem where the car prompts a shift to park, even though my car is in park.

On 4/5/2020, while driving on a side street, the car lost propulsion. It read engine power is reduced and stabilitrac had activated. This has occurred several times prior. My very first encounter was on a major highway (i-270) the car has been serviced (per recall) on two separate occasions. It has done the very exact thing at least three (3) times subsequent of the recall mandate. Every time i attempted to restart the car the motor will violently shake. I have made this complaint to general motors, prior to this latest event on 4/5/2020, my complaint had been dismissed. I am being forced to operate this vehicle; knowing it poses a serious risk of accident or death to me and other motorist. Luckily, i was on a side residential street a few blocks away from my residence. However, this was not the always the case and this is a continuous event. I live within a 3/4-mile radius of baltimore's sea-port, train & truck terminal as well as interstates i-895 & i-95's (harbor and fort mchenry tunnel). I travel the i-895 tunnel to work everyday. After several recall attempts to fix, this car is still doing the same thing. Whereas, without any warning signs, it loses engine power and stalls while in motion. Included are onstar onboard diagnosis reports and service records after the initial recall servicing of the car.

I was recently getting on the highway in my 2018 malibu and had absolutely noooo engine power for acceleration! luckily i was able to get onto the median before i was rear ended by the fast moving cars! simultaneously the 'engine power reduced', 'service traction control', and 'the 'transmission' service lights came on! then as i was getting off the highway at the next exit, i went to stop at the light and i had noooo brakes! luckily i pushed as hard as possible and got my car to stop without a second to spare! i have no doubt that 99% of drivers would have either been seriously injured, or seriously injured someone else in the process of crashing their car! i have a pretty good knowledge of cars , from racing multiple c5 and c6 corvettes, but this problem had me stumped for a while. I took the malibu to multiple gm service departments, and none of the mechanics could come up with a reason why all those systems failed simultaneously, and multiple mechanics all said it was either the brake booster or the master cylinder. I just didn't see either of those parts being the reason for that much of an effect on the car, and luckily i remembered that gm trucks were having a major issue losing brakes due to the vacuum pump. So after an inspection i felt pretty confident that was my brand new malibu's problem, so i went to the parts counter and dropped $330 on my warrantied malibu, and sure enough the car was fine after that! however, a major concern of mine is that the oe vacuum pump was missing chunks of metal, and clearly those chunks of metal are floating around in my engine! so despite my regular maintenance, and even extra maintenance, my confidence is not very high, and i'm constantly waiting for the car to have another problem with the new vacuum pump, engine or brakes!

When car is stationary waiting for red light to change, the car will shut off and power cycle showing stabilitrak error message before turning back on. This also occurs when the car is stationary and engine is off for several hours.

Low fuel, engine light, service stability track, shift to parklights come on. The low fuel light comes on first.the next day the engine light comes on sometimes it stays on then goes off.this happens when i'm driving. I've had all the recalls done. Ecm replaced. 2 weeks later the same thing. All dials go to zero. Slow take off after i've stopped at red light or stop sign.is as if the transmission is going out.if i put on brakes they will throw me in the dash like i've crashed into something. When i take it dealership-no codes are found. Trying to turn car off, it says shift to park.it's already parked. I've taken it back to the dealership several times for this same problems-no codes.i've gotten a rental (for a week)so they can keep the car to try and recreate it- they can't.this car was bought new in august of 2018.chevy malibuls 4dr sdn black. The date below"when did this happen" outs the latest date.

Vehicle ecm fails when accelerating. Loses power/shuts down. Cannot enter freeways, pass, or perform other maneuvers requiring sudden increase power demands. Ecm fails to record incident. Every time. Every day. Updated ecm software does not work. Reset check engine mode shuts down other vehicle functions. Have been too close to being run off the interstate, hit when entering from on-ramp, rear-ended in heavy traffic. Nhtsa does not investigate because death and injury cannot be linked to failures because the module does not record issues/failures. There is no fix. Every day you get in your car and wonder if today is the day you die because your vehicle failed to perform at a critical moment. Now vehicle shut downs while driving on level surfaces, at constant speed, with no additional demands. Am installing cams to record traffic conditions and vehicle warnings displayed on dash since ecm does not record failures. I believe a thorough investigation into all rear end collisions involving 2018 malibus should be conducted since the vital link, the ecm record, has been disabled by manufacturer.

Check engine light, traction control light both on, reduced engine power, speed and transmission shifting limited, cant go pass 3 gear. Started randomly on numerous occasion while driving. Very dangerous.

While driving down the street i got an alert on the dash indicating 'engine power reduced' check engine light and what i believe is the traction control light came on. Can't accelerate. Can't go more than 30 mph. No open recalls in my vehicle, but seems a lot of people having same issue?

Was driving the car on the highway the speed control was on the car powered down almost made us wreck and the check engine light came on followed by the power down alert the car was dragging in speed and could not accelerate. There is only 35000 miles on this vehicle.

Power steering reducing and the car will shut off temporarily i had my car serviced for this already 2 weeks ago for the same problem now it's happening again

It keeps giving the shift to park when the vehicle its in full park already.

When my car cut off at the light and when it try to start back up it stale for a second and says stabilize then start up. When i start the car up it says the same thing. It erase all my favorite on the radio and reset everything. Been doing this for about two weeks now

Vehicle experienced reduced power before learning about and addressing the recall. A couple of months following my vehicle began to shut off and restart while giving various error messages. This occurred while going speeds less than 35 mph and while stopped. The dealership determined it was a faulty battery censor and was not covered under the warranty. I have had the part replaced and did not experience any issues for roughly 2 weeks. My vehicle today gave a error message that engine power is reduced and the check engine light is on. It is also hesitating/jumping when switching from drive to either reverse or park.

Auto stop just stoped working also when i put it on park it shows 'shift to park' but the vehicle is on park already.

I just went and picked up my car after having the recall cone.. Vin#[xxx].the car stalled on me when trying to trying to accelerate i almost got hit because of this...this has happen way to many times. This repair was supposedly done on 07/07/2021. Also this car had the same issue and a recall was done back in 2019. This car is totally not safe.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

When put in park a message shows shift to park. I have to shove it into park before car would turn off. When stopping and making turns there is a sloushing sound (water) coming from the dash. I got both items fixed out of my own pocket because my extended warranty did not cover the air pocket but it did cover shift to park with a $50 deductible. I bought the car brand new so not sure why all these problems are happening. I know several other people with the same make and model having the same issues. These items need to be recalled and i would like to be reimbursed seeing the car is only 2 years old.

My accelerator sensor defects and my speed changes rapidly while driving.

While driving the vehicle in motion, i lost power and received message in message box that states, engine power is reduced.i was only doing 30 and there was no traffic but the engine bogging down while going up hill could have caused an accidentdear [xxx], an issue with the engine and transmission system in your 2018 chevrolet malibu has been detected. The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the engine control module malfunctioned and would flash randomly. The contact also stated that the vehicle stalled while traveling various speeds. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who performed an electric system upgrade; however, the failure continued. The contact reached out to another independent mechanic who informed him that the vehicle was included in a recall. The contact called clark chevrolet (801 w business 83, mcallen, tx 78501, 956-307-6557) and informed them of the recall. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to be serviced. The dealer initially stated that there was no remedy for the recall and informed the contact to pick up the vehicle. The contact refused. The contact informed the manufacturer and was informed that they would look into the matter and a representative would call him back to offer assistance. Later that day, the contact was informed by the dealer that the vehicle had been repaired. The contact had not yet taken possession of the vehicle. The failure mileage was 39,000.

The excellarator sensor is bad and keeps powering down engine even on the freeway

Delayed eccel electrical steering an battery loss. Tire low warning reset for all tires continue to come on, battery dies brought car to dealer they sai it had only 1 recall an it was fixed

I just got a 2018 chevy malibu. I was driving home from work today and my car just stopped and a reduce engine power message flashed across my screen. I could have been killed when i car cut off in the middle of a busy street. I have just seen all of the messages about these issues and people coming out of hundreds of dollars to fix it. Chevy needs to do a recall on this issues sooner than later, this could be between life and death for someone.

There was an issue with the engine and transmission system.my engine light came on and i received a warning that the engine power is reduced and i had to pull over because the speed of the car reduced to 20 miles an hour.this happened a month again and then the car would not start.we bought a new battery and everything was fine until today were it happened again.i have to travel on the highway a lot and cannot have that happen again or i can be in trouble by causing an accident.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the automatic stop feature caused the vehicle to stop while in motion. While the vehicle was stopped, it would stall. The vehicle was able to restart. The vehicle was taken to zeigler chevrolet schaumburg (1230 e golf rd, schaumburg, il 60173, (847) 882-2200), but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage and vin were not available.

Car went back to dealership monday because of problem i had last year. Lights comes on in dashboard : stabiltrack, engine icon, reduced steering, low fuel. On my way to work monday just made it out my driveway and started up the hill and the lights started flashing. Brakes had to be pushed ask the way to the floor for it to stop rolling back down the hill. I let it roll back to get the car out of street. The car wouldn't turn off when i pressed the start/stop button. Pressed the button again the car turns off but all lights are on in the dash. Press button again and lights go out but the start button is lit. Shift to park comes on dash. It's in park. Couldn't get engine to turn on. Couldn't move gear shift that has no lights on column or dash to tell what gear it's is in. Got car towed to greenway in tuscumbia,al. Had to find a ride to & from work because they didn't have a loner .picked car up tuesday(they said the battery needed to charged & there was a recall they fixed) made it home ok. Went to store, no problem. Got in car to go to work wednesday and it starts acting up again. And when i got out of the car at work, there was smell like the brakes were really hot. Called dealership didn't get through to service but guy said he would get my number & have someone call, no one did. Got in car to leave work the lights started again but i was able to come home with no further incidents. The engine icon was still on though. I'm sick of this car! and i'm tired of going to the dearship every couple of days or every 2 weeks! buy this lemon back!

I have a chevy malibu 2018 and i commute to work 5 days a week 1 1/2 hours each way.during my commute without warning, a light came on indicating "engine power is reduced", the engine light, as well as the car slippery road sign.i have an appointment at mearle stone chevrolet in hopes this known problem in the 2018 models gets fixed without paying out of pocket expenses since there has been a major safety concern on the highways not being able to accelerate like normal and having to build up speed by taking foot off accelerator.i cannot pass due to this and the engine is winding out like i need to change gears while the rpms are going up.i cannot get past 60mph even with accelerator all the way down.i am concerned with this model being made in april of 2018, and the chevy malibu class action law suite on "engine power being reduced".this can be very dangerous knowing it can get worse if the dealer does not fix this.i have only had my car barely coming up for a year.i need to have a reliable and safe car that i don't need to worry if this will happen again.

I bought this car brand new 9/28/2018 with 2 miles on it. Every once in a while the car will stick at 3400 rpm's, making almost no power, while trying to accelerate. The car will do this from a stop or trying to pass a car. Brought to dealer for 4 days, they couldn't duplicate the issue as it doesn't happen all the time(eye roll) it is a major safety concern as it will give you a false sense of security when moving into or around traffic and is very dangerous. Monitoring the car thru the obdii port i personally found it not building boost from the turbo when it's having this problem, unfortunately the dealers can't see this problem...

The car stalls while i'm driving on highways regular streets turningno check engine light car full tank proper oil levels etc

Cut car off wouldnt start up replaced vvt solenoids and camshaft sensors had battery tested had it tested on computer all codes clear and being told it may be one or more cracked pistons car was idleing normal in park

I was driving on the highway when my vacuum pumpwent out. Lucky i know how to handle a brake less situation. This should have never happenedespeciallywith a 2018 chevy malibu. We need a recall on all 2018 vacuum pumps. This will probly happen to more people if you dont.

While driving check engine light came on , display said diminished engine power , no throttle response

I have had my malibu about 4 months now, i purchased it with 500 miles on it. I started having problems with accelerating shortly after the purchase. I was merging on to the interstate and trying to speed up to the speed of traffic.i was already over into the next lane and had no where to go. I pressed the gas but the car would not exceed 25 miles per hour.i was looking in the rearview mirror watching another car rapidly approaching from the rear and after a few very frightening seconds maybe 20, the car finally decided to accelerate. This same problem persisted the entire trip.after reaching my destination and calming my nerves.i did some research about the car ( i should have before i bought it) and found out about a problem with the ecm. I called the dealer and scheduled a time to bring it in. The dealership was very helpful and preformed the update i found a bulletin about online.the car performed a lot better for short trips.after driving for a while i felt comfortable enough to take longer trips. I'm noticing the car still hesitates when turning, when it gets hot, andsometimes just at random when driving i can feel it lose power and kick back in, and the engine shakes when i'm idling and the engine is hot like a shutter kinda thing until i pull off again. I tried to take the car back to geta second update done but the service department at the dealership said it was common with that car and what i was experiencing was the turbo lag. There was nothing they could offer to remedy the problem.i am so disappointed with this purchase it's the first new car i ever bought and i'm scared it's going to break down or someone hit me while driving because i can't get out of the way.i bought a new vehicle with the expectation of not having any problems and just doing regular maintenance and i got burned big time.

Takata recall - when i put in park and turn off engine, it is still running. I have to jiggle the park several times until it goes off. This is reoccurring more and more. Bayside in prince frederick, md has said others have come in with this problem also.

My engine power reduced signal on my 2018 malibu lt comes on on my dash. I have almost been in a few accidents because of this on the highway. This is an issue that needs to be recalled asap. I have already gotten the entire gas pedal replaced. This is ridiculous because they already know about this problem but are too cheap to do a recall on it. Someone is going to die one day because of this and it will fall on the hands of the car company.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. While driving approximately 35 mph, the engine power reduced and check engine warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle went into limp mode. On several occasions, after the vehicle was cycled off and back on, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The failure recurred often. The vehicle was taken to bob stall chevrolet (7601 alvarado rd, la mesa, ca 91942, (619) 460-1311) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the accelerator pedal sensor needed to be replaced and the throttle body needed to be serviced, which was still pending. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,000.

My transmission has had multiple repairs since i've gotten my vehicle. The vehicle had to go in for several months while they fixed the transmission but once i got it back it instantly had another transmission issue.it has also had the shifter replaced, which is another transmission issue.

Car engine will not turn over. System says 'engine power reduce' and 'service stabilitrak.' brake clicks and locks when been pressed down, steering wheel also locks.

The onstar system shocked my husband. The car won't start sometimes. The dash board reads different things when attempting to start car. The vehicle was parked in the yard with nothing plugged up to drain the battery.

While driving 70 mph, i get an alert that stated reducing speed. And my check engine light came on. This is not the first time. Lucky i was able to get off the highway without getting into an accident. Also my car sometimes will not cut off because it says my car is in shift even though i have it in park. This is dangerous to have a car reduce speed while driving 70 mph to abruptly go 40 mph. Last time this happen a month ago no codes came up and the check engine light eventually went off. But now my check engine light is back on again.

So many issues, car currently not starting. Codes were for brake booster and maf sensors, replaced both. Still won't start. Open recall emc, called dealership, they stated recall is free but since it won't start i have to pay 125 so they can hook it to computer. Shift to gear happens weekly, car will be in park. Stabiltrack came on a few times, but goes away. It tells me icy conditions on evan warm days, display will go black bu usually randomly comes on. The worst is the reduced engine mode. There is no rhyme or reason. I have been on the street doing about 35 mph and it does it also on highway at high speeds with 4 kids in the car, terrifying and dangerous. I am sure i'm forgetting things i have just come to not feel safe or comfortable driving this car, local dealership is no help.took a picture of one of the first time it happened but that was 20000 miles ago, haprns randomly and almost in clusters. I can go a month or 2 with nothing and then it's 2-4 times a day for a few days or weeks, and then stops.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated while driving 60 mph the vehicle reduced speed independently. The 'engine power' reduced warning message was displayed in the instrument panel. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to new rochelle chevrolet (291 main st, new rochelle, ny 10801) where the vehicle was diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The gas gasket was replaced however, the ecm failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.

The check engine has come on three times already since i have bought this vehicle... Everytime the code is for emissions system. We have replaces the valveand the canister for emissions and the engine light still comes on.. Also the shift to park issue.

Car powered down while driving all the lights lite up on the dashboard. When driving it either speeds up on its own or while driving it will just go slower without me letting up off the gas.

I bought this car last aug. 2018.first the left blinker did not work properly.it goes on but doesn't retract back.i brought it back twice and it still does it.this morning 14 oct 2019, i went to pull out of my driveway and the dash board started to light up. The engine light is on and the car told me i had not gas, which i did.i tried pulling out of my driveway and it would barely move.i backed up into my driveway and it seemed ok.i am bringing it to middletown chevrolet dealership to have them take a look.mind you i used the car saturday night and it was totally fine.very weird.i'm hoping they find out the problem and fix it with out a hassle since it's still under warranty.i'll keep everyone posted.

Taking off from a stop sign trying to accelerate into traffic at which point the car shifted through a couple of years with no acceleration or power behind it i was maybe going 12mph as it shifted through to 3rd gear about a 8-10 second delay. I had plenty of time to make it if i would've been in any other vehicle. I was almost t-boned. I just bought this car 2 days ago

I have had my car in twice for my issue now. When attempting to accelerate the engine light comes on and i have to push the gas to the floor to get the car to move. First time it happened as i was getting on the expressway last time was pulling out onto a busy road during rush hour and almost got into an accident because of this. Both dealers i have taken it to for this issue have pulled the same trouble code and neither will repair the knock sensor that the code is for. I keep getting told to just drive it until it happens again and the engine light is on to bring it back in. My issue is when you restart the car the light will be off and they never have any appointments available for at least a week. I have contacted gm directly and basically been told the same as the dealer to just drive it til it happens again. I feel that not only my saftey but the safety of others on the road is in jeopardy because of this. I dont know what else to do at this point/ between insurance and my lease payment im paying $500 a month for a car that im now nervous driving not just that now if i were to get into an accident because of the issue that ive had it in for twice im gonna be stuck with trying to come up with an extra $1000 for my deductible. Any help i can get would be greatly appreciated

I was driving the vehicle and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the display read engine power reduced. I wasn't sure what that meant so i pulled over. I tried to pull off and i had no brakes. Apparently something in the braking system broke and my engine was destroyed. I talked with gm and they told me that it has happened before with this model car.

I bought the vehicle in april 2019 with 14,000 miles on it. Since then, the vehicle experiences low power/hesitation at low speeds. This is especially evident when turning/pulling out onto an intersection from a stop. There is no acceleration at all. I took it to the dealer & test drove it with the mechanic. During the drive, the car displayed the symptoms. However, when the mechanic drove it himself, he could not duplicate it. I mentioned the technical service bulletin #19na-032. According to them, this bulletin is not applicable to my vehicle's vin. In doing my own research, my vin falls within the tsb's range. This is a serious safety issue as i've almost been hit multiple times by oncoming traffic. A recall definitely needs to be released before someone gets injured or killed.

My wife purchased a new 2018 chevy malibu on july 3, 2018.in october 2019, we received a safety recall notice (n192221960) informing my wife the malibu had a safety issue. The notice stated: "this condition can cause the engine to stall at speed and without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.' concerned, i heeded the warning. Since then this car but our lives at risk two times. Each time another part was replaced numerous malibu owners are experiencing this terror and nothing is being done. I have spoken to gm and the dealer to no effect. I don't believe they know how to fix it. It is past time for the government to step in.

Low engine pressure

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the vehicle decelerated while driving. Once the engine was restarted, "reduced power" appeared on the instrument panel. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to serra chevrolet (28111 telegraph rd, southfield, mi 48034, (248) 354-6001) to be diagnosed, but the test could not read the codes. The dealer performed a system update. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,036.

Taking my fianc to the airport so that he can report for duty and the vehicle abruptly comes to a speed of 20mph on the highway cause a vehicle behind me to come to a close contact with my car. Replaced sensor and pedal as instructed because i am fresh out of my warranty and a month later. The issue returned. I cannot afford to pay 200 to 500 every couple of weeks or mo the to fix this issue. Chevy is aware of this issue and has elected to do nothing. It has been reoccurring in2016 to 2018 vehicles.

My car reduced its engine power and slowed down from 60 miles down to 20 miles while driving on the high way with a tank truck behind me. I have never been so scared in my life. The engine reduced its power three times now! i was told there was a recall on this and the issue was fixed but clearly it wasn't! i have children and i am terrified to drive my car now because of this!!!!!

My car randomly displayed a message on the dashboard that said "engine power reduced" traction light and check engine light appeared and it brought my speed limit to around 20 while i was on a busy street. I turned the car off and got the power back but has done it 3 more time in 2 days. Very scary with 2 babies in the car.

While driving, vehicle with randomly display error code saying 'engine power reduced'. When this happens, the car's speed reduces to ~25 mph and it's incredibly hard to accelerate past that. This reduced engine power warning comes on frequently, and without warning. Sometimes it will go weeks without doing it, and sometimes it will do it multiple times a trip. Every time it happens, the engine light & traction control light comes on. The only thing that temporarily fixes the car is pulling over, turning the entire car off, then turning it back on. This obviously is very dangerous while driving with any traffic around you. Once i turn my car back on, the check engine light remains on (traction light turns off), and then eventually turns off by itself (granted it doesn't happen again soon after). After speaking to other chevy owners, i've learned this is very common & i've even been able to find posts on online forums regarding this issue.

After pulling out of a convenient store, onto a main roadfor about a half a milemy car immediately lost speed and a display appeared in my dash engine power reduced , check engine light and traction control light appeared. I couldn't drive no more than 20 miles per hour ..scary moment, so glad nothing was coming behind me.car in shop! this need to be fixit's a many people having the same problem with this year kind of carsomebody is going to get killedfix the problem for free gmc

I have had this car 6 months and it has been serviced 3 times for the same issue. While in motion the vehicle does not accelerate properly. When pulling out in traffic with the gas pushed down it slows and then lunges. It also can happen when going with the speed of traffic. (feels like it's slipping). The first time they found pump plunger damage and loose pin in fuel cam follower. The second time they reprogrammed exam with latest ca liberations. I am here now for the 3 time.this vehicle is extremely dangerous and i worry for the safety of myself and kids when driving.

Car will lose power when driving. I was turning left crossing traffic and it lost power. Car would not accelerate for 3 seconds essentially it felt like the car stalled even though it was still running. I have had this happen 3 other times as well.

I started the car and reversed out of a parking space.after shutting the car in drive, i pressed the gas and the car barely moved.i pulled off to the edge of the parking lot and put the car in park, turned it off, waited a minute or 2, and restarted the engine.i put the car in drive and it went forward.i had to stop and slightly reverse because a car was coming toward me on the street i was turning onto.i put it back in drive and tried to turn out of the parking lot.again the engine was running but the car barely coasted. It acted like it was not changing gears. I pulled across the street because a car was coming into another parking lot.we were almost hit because the car would not go.i parked the car turned it off.waited a few minutes and restarted it.i got out and the engine sounded slightly off ... It was clicking almost like there was a timing issue.i got back in the car reversed out of the parking spot and went forward.the car started forward and i turned back on to the road.suddenly the rpm shot up to over 400 and the car lurched forward without applying additional gas.i applied the brakes and kept driving.the rpm ran higher than normal on the way back to kokomo.it was not driving correctly and still acted like it was not shifting gears correctly.i drove it to the nearest dealership in kokomo, in.erik's chevrolet and they could not find any issues. When pressed they tried to say it was overdue for an oil change which is not true.the indicator just came on right before this happened. It has ~7200 miles but it has fully synthetic oil. Then they tried to say it was low on oil and the oil life was zero and that caused the issue. Again not true because it was at 4% and i checked it periodically as stated in the manual.there is a recall related to an ecm malfunction. I am concerned this is related and the fix may not complete.

Bought this car brand new in august 2018. When i drive itsometimes it looses power when i'm driving from a stop or while picking up speed and it doesn't matter if it's on the freeway or on the street.the only way i can describe it is it's like the transmission gets stuck in a high gear and slowly builds speed up. It is very dangerous to drive it like this.

Auto stop just stoped working also when i put it on park it shows 'shift to park' but the vehicle is on park already.

When driving the car it will lose propulsion and power. At one point it almost shut off while driving on the highway. I took the car for inspection to chevrolet dealer but i was told they will take weeks to find the exact issue. It also has a safety recall which wasn't performed during my appointment. I was told to come back if i see engine light without it they can't do much. I use my car every day to get to work and now i feel unsafe while driving it. My chevrolet malibu is of the year 2018 with only 30k miles.

My car shuts off while i am driving (at a stop or idling) stationary

I was driving on a busy highway doing 70mph and a warning popped up on the dash and said engine power reduced and the car slowed down to 20mph.i almost got rear ended and had to pull over to the side of the road.this has also happened on a regular city street while going 40mph.this is very dangerous and needs to be corrected

The cars reduced engine light keeps coming on and off, slowing down on the freeway and the traction lights keep coming on. After being paid the dealership to fix it the problem still occurs.

Faulty sensor on my car almost caused me to lose ny life on the highway today. While driving my check engine light came on and i got the message ' engind power reduced ' car would not let me accelerate , hit a wall on the shoulder of the highway rushing to safety i now have a dent in my car , sad part is this is a known problem! we are also getting a ' shift to park ' error message which is another issue , that the dealer said i had to pay for‼️ ridiculous about to contact a lawyer chevrolet has no regaurd for human life.

Engine goes into power reduced mode regularly and prevents me from driving. It typically happens on the interstate, but has happened on city streets as well. Once i restart the car, i am able to drive again, but it is happens more and more often.

Engine power reduced

While driving the car will slow down and say slow engine power

P2138 code this is a common problem with this vehicle.

I started to accelerate and the check engine light came on and reduced engine power was on my information display and my car would not go over 30 mph.just happened out of the blue.i have approximately 64,000 miles on my malibu.this happened on a city street and not in heavy traffic, but could have been very dangerous, if i was on a highway.then after i limped the car home i turned it off and turned it back on and it seemed normal, but check engine light is still on.i am getting rid of this carhas had 5 recalls of various problems so far.on one occasion the dealership had my car for 2 weeks...trying to fix a problem with the accelerator.

Throttle/pedal position sensor/ witch d/e

Car shut off in the middle of driving. With no engine light on. Engine light randomly comes on every other week. Tps doesn't function properly. Idles high some days then drives normally. Sensors was changed engine light comes back on a week later with same code vacuum sensor, maf,

Purchased 2018 chevy malibu with 4,200 but new due to it being a dealer courtesy car on 12/18/18, on 1/7/19 the car would not accelerate while stationary in a parking lot attempting to pull out of the parking spot. I put the car in park and when shifting back to drive the transmission slammed into gear and the accelerator barely responded and the car revved to over 5,000 rpm's. I took into superior chevrolet on 1/8/19, on 1/11/19 they still did not know what the issue was and were unable to duplicate it. On 1/4/19 the dealership said they were connecting the car to a machine that would supply the smallest specs of the car to send to gm engineers, on 1/16/19 the gm engineers advised to replace the tcm (transmission control module). Tcm was replaced and the car was picked up on 1/18/19. On 5/22/19 while driving through an intersection the accelerator failed to respond again and revved to 5,500 rpm's. It took approx one minute for the accelerator to respond in the meantime i was almost rear-ended by the car behind me. I took the car back to superior chevrolet on 5/23/19 reporting the accelerator did not respond again as it had in january. The techs were unable to duplicate the issue again and the service manager drove the car home to see if it would duplicate, it did not. On 5/24/19 i was advised they updated the computer and that should resolve the problem this time. The first failure happened at approx 4,700 miles. The second occurring at approx 11,700.the consumer stated upon the 3rd failure the onstar diagnostic stated that there was an issue with the engine and transmission system.

This is the third time this instance has occured. The vehicle dash stated "reduced engine power" and the check engine light appears. This slows the vehicle to an almost complete stop. Luckily i have either been in traffic, in a parking lot and a green light when this happens but this is an issue. I am in motion.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the engine stalled while driving 25 mph. The steering indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact experienced the engine failure several times. The vehicle was taken to ourisman chevrolet of marlow heights (4400 branch ave, marlow heights, md 20748, (240) 455-3386) to be diagnosed and the following failure codes were found: 1119835548, sd19835789, and doc5228009. The dealer reprogrammed the engine electronic control module; however, the vehicle continued to stall. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the alternator and power supply converter failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 9-5585224979. The failure mileage was 6,521.

Since july 2019 my vehicle has continually shown a check engine light with the message, power engine reduced on the dashboard. When this occurs, the rpms increase drastically and vehicle can not go over 30 mph. This has happened on highways and main roads. It is very dangerous because i can be going 65 mph on the highway and all of a sudden it drops down to 30mph. This has almost caused accidents multiple times. I have attached multiple service records where i have had the vehicle worked on, but yet the issue still occurs at anytime. The vehicle is very unsafe to drive. There has been recalls on this issue and although he dealerships say they fixed it for my vehicle, it still occurs. I have contacted gm and have not gotten an answer or had the problem resolved and it has been over a month i have been working with them. There last reasoning for not giving me a resolution was because they were waiting on service records, yet i called the dealerships and had the service records in less than an hour.

Engine power reduced while driving. Three times. 2/9/20, 1/24/20, 12/8/19

While driving my engine and traction light came on and a sensor popped up that read 'engine power is reduced'. I was driving down the highway and my speed was reduced. I can't and could not speed up.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a turn the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light was illuminated. Additionally, while driving approximately 80 mph, the vehicle stalled. Another time while driving approximately 50 mph the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was slow to start and several attempts were made before the vehicle started. The contact stated while stopped, the vehicle was slow to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The accelerator pedal and system update were performed. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

The contact's daughter was driving a 2018 chevrolet malibu. While driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. When the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop. As a result, the driver crashed into a parked vehicle. The air bags deployed. The police were notified, but the contact was not sure if a report was generated. The driver sustained injuries to the pelvic area and around her waist from the seat belt that required medical attention. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop awaiting diagnostic testing from the insurance company. The manufacturer was called, but the contact was unable to speak with a representative. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 17,500.

Several times i have had the engine light come on and a warning of engine power reduced. I have had it checked several times and some it was not able to be diagnosed but others the various modules were replaced - but the issue is not fixed. What is it going to take to have this brought to nhtsa attention as well as gm to get this corrected on a recall? i have almost been hit by 18 wheelers on the freeway due to my car dropping from 75 mph to 30 mph and there is nothing you can do when you are on a busy freeway in a construction zone but pray. I have read several statements and reports of this happening over and over with other owners. I will definitely loan my car to an investigator at nhtsa or mary barra, president of gm, and let them see how safe they feel in a situation when this happens, especially when you have grandchildren or your own children in the car. It has been reoccurring since i purchased the car in 2018 with only 4 miles on the odometer so the information gathered below is only a fraction of the information that is needed.maybe a selection on the "was there a crash"and "was there an injury or fatality?" should be "almost, bu thank god, no"

When driving my 2018 chevy malibu it stalls out while i'm driving reducing my speed to 20 mph when i'am on the freeway. As i continue to drive homei seen a notificationthat said power reduce system it happens very often and as a result of the stalling i was rear ended from the rear and it is very dangerous for me to continue driving this car.

Vehicle frequently has an issue accelerating. When pulling out into traffic or departing from a red light, the vehicle fails to move more than approximately 5 miles an hour for approximately 5-10 seconds. You can have the gas pedal pushed to the floor and still the car has serious hesitation and delay of acceleration. This is extremely dangerous. It is a mystery if you are going to pull out into traffic and not move or maybe the car will accelerate normal. You will not know until you try!

I was driving down the interstate doing 74 miles an hour when all of a sudden the car jerked and started slowing down. The display screen showed a messaging saying engine power reduced. I pulled over on the shoulder because it wouldn't let me accelerate and had slowed the car down to 50 mph. I sat there for a minute and was going to try to drive on the shoulder to the next exit. When i started the car the message was no longer there but the check engine light was still on. The car has done this more than 10 times since this day.

While driving on the highway my car decelerated from 60 mph to 25 mph in an instant. This almost caused a major fatal crash. My check engine light is on saying engine power reduced.

The car lost power while i was operating it. I had to put it in park and restart it. I was in the middle of parking it on a city street.

My car will not start. And it turn off at stop lights and when does the gas saving shut off, it doesn't turn back over. Im pretty sure it's the fuel injectors

My car is lagging when i come from a complete stop. It sputtersat times when i accelerate. My car is also making a vibration noise when i accelerate, slow down, turning, on highway, city streets and when i'm coasting. This start happening when my vehicle reached 13,000 miles. I almost got into four accidents due to this issue. There need to be a recall asap! i'm pretty sure that is not going to be one until someone dies because of it.

-thank you!

I turned on my car and it said 'reduced engine power' on the screen and i could only accelerate up to 35mph. I was going up hill it felt like my car was barely moving. Turns felt much slower going uphill when driving in residential areas.

The contact's mother owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary at a traffic light while depressing the accelerator pedal to move forward, the vehicle began to hesitate. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to drive to her destination. The contact stated a month later after she had an oil change performed on the vehicle, she saw smoke exiting from the rear vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated she continued to experience the failure. The vehicle was towed to another local dealer bomnin chevrolet dadeland (8455 s dixie hwy, miami, fl 33143:(305) 669-2709) however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated she continued to experience the failure. The contact towed the vehicle to a third local dealer bomnin chevrolet west kendall (11701 sw 152nd st, miami, fl 33177:(305) 964-3099) and the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact towed the vehicle to a fourth local dealer ed morse sawgrass chevrolet service center (14401 w sunrise blvd, sunrise, fl 33323:(888) 366-8808) and the mechanic was also unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated after the vehicle was serviced at ed morse sawgrass chevrolet service center, she began to experience failure with the gear shifter, the auto start, the steering gear, the suspension, and the brakes. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to ed morse sawgrass chevrolet service center and had the gear shifter, the auto start, the steering gear, the suspension, and brakes replaced. The contact stated she continued to experience the failure and the vehicle was not operable. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The contact stated she continued to experience the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

I bought my car a few weeks ago, my check engine light come on and off i have acertified warranty. The warning that pops is when i start my car say 'reduce engine power' and it messes with my lights as well as my gas pedal to where i can't go. It's very dangerous, especially when on the highway.

At a stop light, when light turned green, pressed accelerator, "engine power is reduced" messaged flashed, engine and traction lights came on. Unable to accelerate over 25mph, rpm would not go above 3. Recall maintenance for ecm was completed on 01/11/2020.

While in the middle of driving the car will say "reduced engine power" and will not let me accelerate. This is highly dangerous especially on the highway or middle of the street. It has done this once before at a stoplight where the engine totally shut off.

The vehicle loses power after warming up.vehicle sputters during acceleration and sometimes will not accelerate at all.this almost caused me to get into an accident as i pulled out and pressed the accelerator and the car would not move.there are no lights or codes present. According to online forums there is a tsb for this (19-na-32); it needs to be a safety recall...this is very dangerous.

Car doesnt want to start. Its happend more then 3 times. And also loses power when on...

I came to a stop at the traffic light. When green light came on the car stalled, would not restart. After 5th attempt car restarted. Check engine light came on and stayed on. I took the car to the dealership, they said they did not know how to fix, so they have contacted gm. Still waiting for response ; its been 10 days. Car has 6300 miles on it. Event occurred on city st, afternoon traffic.

Reduce power message appeared while in traffic reducing speed dramatically. Was not able to go more than 13 mph in a 50mph zone.

The vehicle engine reduced power while on the highway causing abrupt drop in speed to lower than the speed limit almost causing an accident and a bumper to bumper collision.

Car died in the middle of a busy intersection and wouldn't restart for approximately 2 minutes. Check engine light came on and reduced engine power on dash cluster was visible when it restarted. Dealership placed new battery & it went away for about a week then returned while driving in the 45 mph range, reduced engine power, then slow acceleration from a stop sign. Seems there have been multiple class action lawsuits for this issue with no recall in place at this time.

Two times my vehicle has displayed engine power is reduced while driving on the highway. When this occurred, my vehicle would not accelerate well and my vehicle speed was automatically reduce to about 20 mph almost causing a crash with the vehicle behind me. The engine light stayed on the entire day even after powering down my vehicle. Also there is a loud water noise when coming to a stop like water is running through the engine or transmission system. This water noise occurred with my 2013 malibu as well and should be investigated.my vehicle is only 2 years old and should not be experiencing these types of issues.

Check engine light, tracking light, steering wheel locks up , low engine and can't exceed 45 ~ 50 mph all happens when in motion

On december 2, 2020 at approximately 545pm i was leaving the biloxi cspire store and as i drove about half a mile, the car completely went haywire. All the instruments went crazy and then i had no brakes at all and the car had no power..i was barely able to get the car in a safe spot and myself out of danger sitting in the middle of a busy road. I tried to turn and get off road and car had no brakes at all and no power. Thenonce i was able to get in a parking lot the car and safe. I tried cranking the car 2 or three times and all it would do is turn over are making a starting noise and wouldnt stop. The brakes were hard as a rock and would not depress at all.

The vehicle engine reduced power while on the highway causing abrupt drop in speed to lower than the speed limit almost causing an accident and a bumper to bumper collision.

While driving, engine goes into reduced power mode without warning and unable to maintain speed. Check engine light starts blinking and acceleration is lost. This happened twice, on a highway and on a road. Getting to the side of the road safely was very difficult. Onstar sent an email notification of the critical failure.

Was driving the car on the highway the speed control was on the car powered down almost made us wreck and the check engine light came on followed by the power down alert the car was dragging in speed and could not accelerate. There is only 35000 miles on this vehicle.

The car us under 60,000 miles three years old and already breaking down. The air flow sensor out of self-test range, turbocharge engine underboost problems and mass air flow sensor performance is also problematic, makingthe car stop instantly and sporadically creating a high imminent danger of crashing and serious injuries. Luckily the car behind me was far enough to stop before rear-ending me. Had it been a semi-truck i don't think i would have been so lucky. These issues need to be immediately recalled and corrected!!!

While operating my vehicle at approximately 50 mph on a busy highway i received a check engine light, traction control light and a warning that the engine power has been reduced. After all of those warnings my vehicle immediately slowed to 20 mph and would not speed up.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle stalled and was unable to be restarted. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to mountain view chevrolet, inc. (1079 w foothill blvd upland, ca 91786, (909) 353-7103) where it was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the vehicle would vibrate and shake each time after being refueled. When the contact attempted to restart the vehicle, it stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to coggin chevrolet (10880 philips hwy, jacksonville, fl 32256, (904) 342-6447) where it was diagnosed, but no failure code was found. A week later, the vehicle was taken to beaver chevrolet (3494 philips hwy, jacksonville, fl 32207, (904) 398-3036) where it was diagnosed that the purge valve and the charcoal canister needed to be placed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and informed them that a failure code could not be found. The manufacturer provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

Car turned off in the middle of the road. Engine was completely off as well as no lights were on. So i could not put it on neutral to push it out of the road. I had several near misses where it could have gone badly. Also, took it to the dealership and nothing was found. Car still turns off for no apparent reason

While in motion the engine power is reduced then the car slowed to a speed of 20 mph. Upon starting m vehicle a week a later the engine reduction warning came on again. The throttle body was replaced now i'm being told it's the accelerator pedal position sensor .why should i have to pay for this.

Check engine light came on and power reduction light came on and car slowed down with no power. This also happened 2 weeks ago. Local mechanic said it was a recall item, but i havent seen any.

2018 chevrolet malibu. Consumer writes in regard to safety recall concerning disconnected fuel injector. Consumer also explains vehicle stalling while driving and it not accelerating. *as

I was driving to my destination and started to feel my car like jumping when it was accelerating also everytime i park it stutters when i put it in park. I also heard on the news that there was a recall on malibu,so i checked the vin number and it should there was a maintenance recall on my car something about the engine

This is the 3rd time for he same issue.after a cold start the engine will start missing on a cyl which results in a huge decrease in power and running rough.this last time, engine light came on.just like the other times, if you stop and restart the car, the issue goes way.took to dealership and even though the engine light came on, no codes and they couldnt replicate the issue and nothing was done.

The engine light keeps coming on and says engine power reduce. I had a recall to nhtsa done, but the same problem, and vehicle stalls like its shutting off or won't pick up speed.

23000 miles on a used vehicle. Acceleration/low power, the vehicle does not receive any power until 4000 rpms, gas pedal can be pushed down and still takes it time to accelerate. Mpg is currently averaging 18 mpg advertised as 27-37 mpg

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 30 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred twice. The vehicle was taken to hendrick chevrolet buick gmc southpoint dealer, (127 kentington dr, durham, nc 27713) where it was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine) however, the contact stated that the repair did not correct the failure. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

Car is stationary while waiting for red light to change, the car will shut off and reduced driving assistance error message will pop up before turning back on. The radio will also cut out in process of car turning back on frim auto shut off. It has been happening for over a month and seems to get worse. Engine light came on today aswell

I was driving at approximately 55mph on a highway when the vehicle gave a warning of 'engine power is reduced'. My car quickly dropped to 20mph and i was unable accelerate. This happened while there was another vehicle behind me and i was scared i was going to be rear ended. I put my hazard lights on and parked my vehicle. I shut the vehicle off and turned it back on which allowed me to operate the vehicle again but only at a capacity of 40mph. I had the vehicle repaired later that day it needed something with an electronic throttle control and pedal sensor replaced. I also learned that this is an issue that gm is well aware of and feel that they need to recall vehicles affected by this issue. There's no reason a vehicle should be dropping to 20 mph unexpectedly on a highway.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start up. Additionally, the brake pedal was applied but was hard to depress. The engine power reduced message was displayed.the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine) was completed. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

Check engine light, traction control light both on, reduced engine power, speed and transmission shifting limited, cant go pass 3 gear. Started randomly on numerous occasion while driving. Very dangerous.

While driving, the message 'engine power is reduced' appeared. My car slowed down and i had to press really hard on the gas pedal to get back up to the speed i was at. It is said to be a defective electronic throttle control and accelerator pedal position sensor. This problem is common in many of the 2016-2018 chevy malibu's.

Engine power is reduced warning and check engine light anti skid warnings come on.

Car was not accelerating would not go past 20mphtook to dealer ship took 2 months to figure out it was the knock sensor and also the ecm were out mind you my car had less than 6k miles i'm the first and only owner of it! i bought this car from don ringler with 4 miles. My car was on the high way when this happen.

I was driving on the highway and suddenly i began to loose speed and my engine check light turned on and my car said engine power reduced. I almost got into an accident because of this.

My car was bought new in december 2018.starting in april of 2018, with a little over 3000 miles on the car, i began to notice that when i drove the car with a cold start (mornings and after a full day of work) the car would not respond to me pressing on the gas pedal.i would push down, and it would take about 5-8 seconds for the car to actually accelerate at all.this has been happening almost every day for nearly a month.multiple times, i have pulled out of a driveway and was almost hit by cross traffic because my car literally wouldn't go.we have taken it to the service center twice now, and they haven't been able to pull any codes or find any issues wrong with it.these needs to be resolved before someone is seriously injured.## vin passed ## chevrolet, malibu, 2018 ##

Reduced engine power light came on while driving on highway and loss of power occured. The car was still running, but it slowed down to a stop on the highway. Battery and electric system was still on, but the dash and everything else dimmed out as well. There was no warning and vehicle was driving about 40 mph.

Reduce engine power came on

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that the rpm gauge increased; however, the transmission gears failed to change over while the vehicle was driving on the highway. As a result, there was a drastic reduction in speed and the contact had to maneuver the vehicle with extreme difficulty to prevent a crash. Initially, performance chevrolet (1005 w ehringhaus st, elizabeth city, nc 27909, 252-338-9100) was unable to replicate and diagnose the failure with the service center manager. Further diagnostic testing was not provided. A dealer test drove the vehicle with the contact and diagnosed that the spacer plate needed to be replaced. A loaner vehicle was provided for two days. The vehicle was not repaired and the contact wanted the vehicle bought back by the dealer if there was no solution. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Head lamp low beam goes out after driving a few miles. I have changed the bulb twice. This is a common issue with this vehicle.

The passenger side led light (day time/fog light) has gone out. I searched online to see if there was a recall and ran across a lot of chevy owners with the exact same problem at the exact spot. If there isn't a recall then one should definitely been in order. Led light should not have gone out and i shouldn't be charged an arm and a leg to diagnose the problem.

My right blinker and brake light keep shorting out. It will be fine for a few days and then stop working.also, the interior carpet is too short and keep coming out of the trim in the front area s of the vehicle.

While driving during nighttime:headlights lightbeam reaches only 12 feet in front of car. Level adjustment is at maximum high. Dealer was unable to adjust lights to a higher level

The onstar system shocked my husband. The car won't start sometimes. The dash board reads different things when attempting to start car. The vehicle was parked in the yard with nothing plugged up to drain the battery.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v642000 (electrical system, fuel system, gasoline, engine).

2018 chevrolet malibu. Consumer writes in regard to safety recall concerning disconnected fuel injector. Consumer also explains vehicle stalling while driving and it not accelerating. *as

Vehicle stalls, won't accelerate. This happens on a daily basis. I will completely stop or slow down then try to accelerate and the car won't move. It takes a couple minutes to get going faster than 5-10mph. Extremely dangerous and scary. This has happened on the highway, streets, and everywhere else i've driven. It does it when i turn, or just go forward. I've had multiple situations where i could've been in accidents. I bought this car brand new in december and it's happened every day since.

While driving engine power reduced message comes on and speed is cut to below 35 mph.

The ecm and battery sensor malfunctioned on dec 9. I found out that gmc has known about this for sometime. September 6, 2019 is documented on your site. I was notified from onstar after i passed the mileage for gmc to have pay for this problem.

-thank you!

23000 miles on a used vehicle. Acceleration/low power, the vehicle does not receive any power until 4000 rpms, gas pedal can be pushed down and still takes it time to accelerate. Mpg is currently averaging 18 mpg advertised as 27-37 mpg

The check engine has come on three times already since i have bought this vehicle... Everytime the code is for emissions system. We have replaces the valveand the canister for emissions and the engine light still comes on.. Also the shift to park issue.

While driving the car will slow down and say slow engine power

Transmission system is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the ignition system which oversees the timing and spark necessary to ignite fuel into the engine. Gm and chevrolet dealerships are claiming there is no problem however engine light comes on and on-star reports problems and nothing is fixed. Brand new car with 8600 miles and less then a year old.

At a stop light, when light turned green, pressed accelerator, "engine power is reduced" messaged flashed, engine and traction lights came on. Unable to accelerate over 25mph, rpm would not go above 3. Recall maintenance for ecm was completed on 01/11/2020.

The car stalls while i'm driving on highways regular streets turningno check engine light car full tank proper oil levels etc

My car has a little over 62,000 miles at about 28,000 miles the warning was coming on reduced speed i'd be on the road and the car would start slowing down and even sometimes on the interstate and recently started coming on again i could feel a popping like in the gas pedal. Then the other day i was sitting in a parking lot and the shift to park message came on when i went to pull off it just jumped. There was no way to put the car in neutral to back it up i wasn't even able to turn the car off. I had to leave my car running in the parking lot for hours until it died. Then before this the car moved so slow it hardly took off. Other cars have to go around me. I have had this car for two years and just seems like issue after issue. Gm should be ashamed and reimburse people for these vehicles.

Car powered down while driving all the lights lite up on the dashboard. When driving it either speeds up on its own or while driving it will just go slower without me letting up off the gas.

Pulling into traffic car lost power, engine knocking big time, engine light on, stabitrak off. Almost rear ended. Pulled over in traffic restarted. Car has had software done. Filling out at dealership. Thes cars should be recalled. What are you waiting for

I was told that my ecm maifunction repair recall fix was not was yet available by my dealership, garrett moters, co0lidge, az 85128. The recall 3 isn192221960. I am worried abot it becose i need to drive 30 miles round trip some on the i 10about 2 to 3 times a week for doctor appts and shopping for groceries. Which can casusea rare case of engine stall at speed.

Check engine light and reduced engine power vehicle won't accelerate on highway in traffic

Had a car accident on september 17, 2019 my car stalled while making left turn had this problem since i purchased this car also my tires continued to go on flat

My 2018 malibu has a feature that when the car stops the engine will shut down when you apply the brakes and engine will start back when you release the brake my car has shut completely down when i've come to a stop all power shuts down the heat the radio everything

Sometimes, when the throttle pedal is depressed acceleration is immediate and the vehicle performs acceptably with a smooth and consistent rate of acceleration. However, sometimes the vehicle sputters for a while, not for a consistent period of time, and eventually acceleration kicks in and the vehicle performs acceptably. Sometimes when the throttle pedal is depressed, the vehicle accelerates very slowly, with no noticeable sputtering, no gear change and does not kick into acceptable acceleration (i have not tested the vehicle for a long period of time when it had this response so acceleration might eventually kick in). Intermittent delayed acceleration happens when the throttle pedal is depressed at a stop or when the vehicle is moving at various speeds.intermittent delayed acceleration is a safety hazard. For example, when entering a freeway with heavy trucks traveling at 75 mph or more, the driver of a vehicle with intermittent delayed acceleration would not know if it would be safe to merge into traffic. If acceleration was smooth and consistent, the driver could anticipate the vehicles performance and merge safely. If delayed acceleration occurred, the vehicle might be able to merge safely providing the freeway onramp had enough length and the oncoming traffic had enough space between vehicles. However, since the delayed acceleration is intermittent and when it occurs, the delay is not consistent, the merging vehicle could potentially be rear-ended by a heavy truck resulting in severe injury or death.

My car shuts off while i am driving (at a stop or idling) stationary

Engine power is reduced wen you going at 50 to 60 in the freeway is dangerously

Vehicle frequently has an issue accelerating. When pulling out into traffic or departing from a red light, the vehicle fails to move more than approximately 5 miles an hour for approximately 5-10 seconds. You can have the gas pedal pushed to the floor and still the car has serious hesitation and delay of acceleration. This is extremely dangerous. It is a mystery if you are going to pull out into traffic and not move or maybe the car will accelerate normal. You will not know until you try!

After my 'recall' reprogramming update on the ecm... A month or 2 later, i started to have loss of power issues while driving. Got home it sat for a couple of mins, then went away. Happened again. Had my car scanned to see what the code was, an 'apps' p2138 code, accelerator pedal position sensor issue. It happens while driving, when it happens cruse control turns off, and traction control light comes on plus the check engine light. This can be a safety issue while trying to merge onto highway traffic...this had happened to me several times... First time was after a long day driving, then a few days later after a very cold night. Then nothing, several hundred miles no issue. Then drove 120 miles and it happened again on 2-13-2020. And twice today 2-21-20202. It only happened twice during a turn.

While driving my engine and traction light came on and a sensor popped up that read 'engine power is reduced'. I was driving down the highway and my speed was reduced. I can't and could not speed up.

The car lost power while i was operating it. I had to put it in park and restart it. I was in the middle of parking it on a city street.

Engine power is reduced warning and check engine light anti skid warnings come on.

The car stalls while driving. I have to pull over and shut the car off and turn it back on to fix the issue but it does it sometimes a few times a day.

I purchased my 2018 malibu in august 2018. I was getting an average 28 mpg until my first oil change in december 2018. After that, i started getting 20-27 mpg city and 14-20 mpg highway. This car will use an entire tank of gas going approximately 210 miles on the interstate.i have taken it back to a certified gm service department, and they tell me that the car has no service codes. I have spoke to a gm manager, and she told me basically the same thing. I have been told that nothing will be done to correct the issue with my car. I'm not understanding why i got excellent gas mileage from the car during the first 6000 miles and now it fluctuates on city roads and is awful on the interstate.i have never drove a car that got better city miles than highway.the car is also very hesitant and shifts hard at times when accelerating.this is not an every day occurrence, but happens 6 or 7 times a week.

When the left turning signal is on and foot on brakes the vehicle cuts off all lights on dashboard light up and when you put the vehicle in park and try to recrank a message stated no gasoline.

When placing my car in park, a warning comes on that my car is not in park which then causes me to be unable to turn the vehicle off. I then have to go through each gear and jiggle the shifter numeroustimes to get it to turn off the vehicle. This sometimes takes up to a half hour of sitting in my vehicle doing that. It is becoming more and more frequent, to the point it is several times a day now. I have read where massive amounts of people have this problem and feel this should definitely be a recall item as it is definitely a manufacturer defect

When vehicle is shifted into park and the vehicle is turned off, "shift to park" displays on the vehicles screen and will not allow the vehicle to fully turn off. In order to have the light turn off, sometimes you have to wiggle the gear shift around whereas sometimes you have to press the start button and shift between gears a few times.

While in motion the engine power is reduced then the car slowed to a speed of 20 mph. Upon starting m vehicle a week a later the engine reduction warning came on again. The throttle body was replaced now i'm being told it's the accelerator pedal position sensor .why should i have to pay for this.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that while his fianc was driving between 30-35 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle started to decelerate with the engine power reduced message displayed while the accelerator pedal was being depressed. The driver coasted over to the side of the roadway, turned off and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle resumed normal driving however, the check engine warning light and engine power reduced warning light remained illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred. The contact stated that the failure recurred while he was driving the vehicle on another occasion. The vehicle was taken to armen chevrolet service & parts department (41 greenfield ave, ardmore, pa 19003) but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

When putting the car in park the (shift to park light appears on the dash). It happens at least 9 times a week.very frustrating when i can not turn the car off.

While operating my vehicle at approximately 50 mph on a busy highway i received a check engine light, traction control light and a warning that the engine power has been reduced. After all of those warnings my vehicle immediately slowed to 20 mph and would not speed up.

The car lost power while i was operating it. I had to put it in park and restart it. I was in the middle of parking it on a city street.

Car not wanting to get up to speed when pulling onto busy roadway.feels like it creeps up to speed slowly feels like it is not in accurate gear.

My transmission has had multiple repairs since i've gotten my vehicle. The vehicle had to go in for several months while they fixed the transmission but once i got it back it instantly had another transmission issue.it has also had the shifter replaced, which is another transmission issue.

At any given time, when vehicle is stationary and shift lever set to 'park', the instrument panel screen displays a 'shift to park' message even with the lever set to the 'park' position. The vehicle seems to be in 'park' however, battery power to the vehicle remains and will not shut off. Car electrical system remains on and honks three times if the key fob is not in range. It is concerning that the vehicle is never fully in 'park' mode or that the vehicle is never fully turned off and can cause an accident if unattended.

While driving check engine light came on , display said diminished engine power , no throttle response

When putting vehicle into park vehicle will give message saying that the vehicle is not in park when it clearly is in park. I sometimes have to turn the vehicle off or mess with the gear shift for a little while for the message to finally go because the vehicle itself will not power off until the message goes away. This could be a safety issue and chevy needs to address this asap! these are brand new cars that are doing this and there shouldn't be any issues with it being a brand new car. They need to make it a service bulltin and or recall.

23000 miles on a used vehicle. Acceleration/low power, the vehicle does not receive any power until 4000 rpms, gas pedal can be pushed down and still takes it time to accelerate. Mpg is currently averaging 18 mpg advertised as 27-37 mpg

Shift to park message displays once car is placed in park. Car will not completely turn off once in park and ignition is shut off

Car says shift to park on dash monitor when car gear shift is definitely in park. Car was stationary in a parking lot after driving.

On chevy malibus when you put the vehicle in park and shut it off, anywhere, and the vehicle is stationary, a message will pop up "shift to park" but it is already in park. The car will not lock and battery will die down if you can't get it to sense that the car is in park. You have to mess around with the shifter until it will recognize it is in "park". Which can take up to 20 minutes or not at all. After researching online i have found that many, many other chevy malibu owners are dealing with this same issue and all agree this should be a recall. This can be a very frustrating issue when you are trying to get to work on time but can't get your' car to shut off and if it wont by the end of the day your' battery is dead. There are many complaints online about this. Ultimately the car will not sense that it is in park which causes the car to not lock among other issues. My car is only a year old and doing this. It seems chevy knows of the issue but wont do much to fix it.

Auto stop just stoped working also when i put it on park it shows 'shift to park' but the vehicle is on park already.

Check engine light and reduced engine power vehicle won't accelerate on highway in traffic

Reduce power message appeared while in traffic reducing speed dramatically. Was not able to go more than 13 mph in a 50mph zone.

The vehicle engine reduced power while on the highway causing abrupt drop in speed to lower than the speed limit almost causing an accident and a bumper to bumper collision.

My 2018 chevrolet malibu has a problem when shifting from drive into park.the message on my dash says" shift to park "even though it is in park. And you can not shut off the engine.you can try shifting it back into drive or low and then go back to park but we get the same message " shift to park " and again even though it is in park, you can not shut off the engine.isn't this a dangerous situation ?

I was driving on the highway this morning at over 65 mph when suddenly my 2018 malibu started slowing down and would not respond to accelerator.i saw that the check engine light and traction control light were on and there was a message saying "engine power reduced."was not able to accelerate past 30 mph.highway was busy but was able to get out of the fast lane over to the far right lane and get to work.after a few hours, i started car and the check engine light remained on, but the "engine power reduced" message was gone.after seeing so many complaints for this issue, i feel gm should permanently fix this issue as it could have dangerous consequences.

While driving on the freeway at speeds of up to 80 mph at random times the car will suddenly slow itself down to 20 mph and the dash will message that engine power is reduced. It's a serious problem that is dangerous to not only the people in the vehicle but all other vehicles on the road also.

Reduced engine power notification in mid drive on freeway causing car to come to low speed in a 70 mph heavy traffic flow.multiple vehicles swerve to avoid contact (accident). Unable to pull over quickly as it happened out of no where. Unable to accelerate.

The car is a 2018 and the dealer says the transmission control shifter is bad. The car reads it's in park but says shift to park to shut car off. In talking with others found out several people have reported this problem as well. I just bought it used in july 2020 with 41000 miles and it's been doing this since i got it off and on. I took it to dealer to report problems before i had it 30 days and was told they couldn't duplicate the issues.

On, july 15, 2020 my car gave a "shift to park"message on the dash after i had placed my car in park. I continued to have this error for the next few days, i made an appointment with my dealership.the issue isyou are stranded in your car until you can wiggle the gear shift into place sometimes upto 20 minutes. The vehicle is stationary and in the park gear, however the car never turns off. The start button is illuminated amber and dings for assistance.this can possibly drain a battery.the dealership charged $518.00 to repair a known gm issue. Gm customer service admitted to it and so did the service advisor,i received a "new" improved version of transmission control assembly.probably should be a recall or class action suit.

Any time i've used my cruise control after my car had been serviced for the initial recall for the ecm over a year ago, i keep getting the 'reduced engine power' notification. This issue didn't begin until after the part was replaced. I've tried taking it to the dealership but they can't fix anything when the light isn't active. I've just stopped using the cruise control feature but i've been on the interstate while the reduced engine power notification comes on and my car slows.

The car is in park but a message shows, on the instrument panel, "shift to park". The car cannot be locked and the warning message stays on because the car thinks it's not in park. This is a recurring problem that was corrected by pushing on the shifter but now the message is staying on.

My 2018 malibu has the "shift to park" issue.i have an appointment with a chevy dealer this week. I hope i don't have to pay for the repair.

When shifting my car into park, it will clearly be in park, yet when i shut off the engine, i get an error message "shift to park".this has happened multiple times in the last month, and now just last night, it took me 15 minutes to get the car to stop the message.its becoming irritating!if you do not try to fix the issue once the car is turned off, then you're battery will eventually be drained.i contacted the local chevy dealer and they say that there are other car owners complaining about it.i am waiting for a replacement part, but since gm was on strike, my wait is longer.

Car shut off in the middle of driving. With no engine light on. Engine light randomly comes on every other week. Tps doesn't function properly. Idles high some days then drives normally. Sensors was changed engine light comes back on a week later with same code vacuum sensor, maf,

Check engine light, traction control light both on, reduced engine power, speed and transmission shifting limited, cant go pass 3 gear. Started randomly on numerous occasion while driving. Very dangerous.

Vehicle transmission not entering in parking , causing vehicle to move forward or back if put on parking. This could cause accident and serious injuries . This might be a sensor or and electrical failure in thegear selector, because if you wiggle the selector sometimes it will go away. Vehicle will show message vehicle not in parking.

Regarding bulletin no.: 18-na-297:historically, if a vehicle is not in "park" the neutral safety switch prevents the engine from starting.in the case of the chevy malibu, and similarly affected vehicles, this is not the case.while the display reads, "shift to park," the operator can still start the vehicle.i understand that a dead battery as a result of this malfunction is an inconvenience, but if left un-repaired, this could lead to vehicle lunging if the vehicle was left in any forward gear, or reverse.i believe that the term "neutral safety switch," has been replaced by general motors in order to avoid using the word safety.rather, they use terms like "bcm," and "shifter assembly," to circumvent criticism of a potentially serious problem.as the average mileage appears to be just short of the warranty expiration, gm is leaving a sizable repair bill to consumers that can afford to pay it, and forcing "back yard work arounds" to those who can not.i would respectfully request that the nhtsa look further into the issue, as well as the semantics employed by general motors.sincerely,[xxx]redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).*cc

Accelerator pedal position sensor correlation (p2138). Engine power reduced

When i put my car into park and go to turn off the vehicle, it throws a "shift to park" code on the dash when my car clearly is in park. I took it up to a chevy dealership, and they said that there were quite a few vehicles that were having the same issues. They told me that there were two options as to what it could be, so i paid for the first option that gm recommended they do first. That did not fix the issue. Now, i'm being told that i have to bring it back up to the chevy dealership and pay another chunk of change just to get it fixed. It is quite frustrating, as it takes a while for me to get my car to register that it is in park, and if i don't, then it drains my battery because the car won't fully shut off. Extremely frustrating and annoying.

Engine power is reduced warning and check engine light anti skid warnings come on.

While driving the check engine light came on with alert "reduced engine power". The idle is high. Placed car in park and the engine keeps revving on its own.

When car restarts after being in auto stop start mode the steering wheel jerks uncontrollably.the car obviously has a suspension problem.dealership failed to repair issue properly after several attempts.also appears dealer made false diagnosis to prevent repairs under bumper to bumper warranty. Gm dealer also refused to repair issue under power train warranty. Another dealer wanted $555 just to check issue.a couple of weeks ago i suddenly lost control of the vehicle. I was at a red light.car went into auto stop start mode.when light changed and car restarted, as i proceeded to take off the steering wheel jerked away from my hands, and i lost control of the wheel and car. After several other failed attempts this dealership purposely ignored this issue months ago while car was still under bumper to bumper warranty.dealership also refused to repair this issue under powertrain warranty.2018 chevy malibu has had 5 recalls to my knowledge.this has been spontaneously producing white smoke from underneath the hood on several occasions. I have video and witnesses.this car was sold as a brand new car.this car had recalls at the time of purchase and never disclosed the recall information.also be advised that i cranked the car today just to keep the battery in tack because car has been sitting since june 10.the car choked, head lights went flickering, car could barely stay on.it appears to be an engine issue.these cars should not be on the road.they are not safe.

Shift to park warning when exiting vehicle when the vehicle is in park and engine is off

The contact owned a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, a second vehicle crashed into the front end of the vehicle. During the crash the top section of the front passenger side seat belt malfunctioned and did not secure the passenger causing the passenger to make contact with the front windshield.also, both the front driver and passenger side airbags did not immediately deploy upon impact.the front passenger sustained bruising of the bottom torso, back, neck, and head injuries. A police report was taken at the scene. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. The cause of the failure was not determined.the manufacturer was notified of the failures. The local dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 96,336. The consumer provided photos and police report.

Drivers seat will not move forward or backwards. Seat is locked in the forward position and will not move backwards.

Receive intermittent 'shift to park' light on dashboard once car is placed in park and will not completely shut off. Driver must pull shift back to drive, then neutral then reverse and back to park before the 'shift to park notice shuts off' . If not repaired this can ultimately drain battery or even damage battery.

Well i got in a wreck yesterday around 4 pm in city limits in bumper-to-bumper traffic and the lady had stop somewhat abruptly so i had to stop abruptly and my brakes locked up on me and this isn't the first time at these brakes have done this before just a second wreak i've had with this vehicle in eight months and i don't have wrecked vehicles this is all new so i want to get my car checked out see if there's something malfunctioning with my brakes because both times the brakes locked up on me when they should've stopped because i wasn't going to fast

Car is stationary while waiting for red light to change, the car will shut off and reduced driving assistance error message will pop up before turning back on. The radio will also cut out in process of car turning back on frim auto shut off. It has been happening for over a month and seems to get worse. Engine light came on today aswell

After driving the car for 30 minutes or more, the steering wheel will stick in the straight position.when trying to make lane corrections, the wheel will jerk left or right causing the car to move abruptly.the vehicle was taken to a chevrolet dealer for evaluation, the service writer called it 'stick/slip' and said it was common on older malibus. Of course, the concern could not be duplicated by the dealer.vehicle has acted up several times since dealer visit.

I have taken my car into the dealership 2 different times now because of the steering wheel randomly shaking while going down a straight road. They have tried to replicate it but it seems to do it randomly. Ive noticed it is around 38 mph. If my hands barely come off of the steering wheel it starts shaking back and forth. This is happening just driving around the city on straight roads. Once i put my hands back on the wheel it stops. They cannot seem to figure out what it is. It has happened randomly ever since i purchased my car brand new about a year ago.

After driving on the interstate for a while, the steering seems to have a flat spot, where it is hard to turn and then it jerks slightly.. More frequently the colder the weather.

Steering wheel seems to stick in the straight-ahead position after driving 10 miles on a straight highway above 60 mph, the steering wheel can be turned but it requires increased effort

My car has been in and out of the dealership service department for months because of a "sticking" sensation in the steering while driving the car at highways speeds.the first time i noticed this issue was shortly after buying the car in sept of 2018.during a trip out to east texas i noticed the steering wasn't responding to the slight adjustment i was making to remain in my lane of traffic, like it was stuck or "turned off".i had to apply a little greater force to the steering to remain in my lane of traffic and when i did i overcorrected and almost hit another vehicle.this has been ongoing for months now, even just about a year now, and gm doesn't seem to truly care.the service department at my dealership has done so many tests on the car but each time they cannot seem to duplicate the issue, or that is what i'm being told at least.and each time i take it to the dealership i am given another gm car to drive and strangely enough i don't have any issue with the loaner car(s) i have driven that have the electric steering.the car is not safe to drive on the highway.that's the bottom line and gm is not doing anything to address it.

2018 chevrolet malibu with 15, 300 miles. Since the last recall work was completed, while driving on the highway around 65 mph, the steering wheel had an increase of tension then it suddenly releases all tension which could potentially lead to a rapid over correction. The problem feels similar to a magnetic break release. No fault codes trip and the dealership service center says they can't duplicate on while stationary or short drives but it's felt on longer drives greater than 15 min. Problem has remained for approximately a month.

Check engine light, tracking light, steering wheel locks up , low engine and can't exceed 45 ~ 50 mph all happens when in motion

I rented a 2018 chevy malibu. It seemed to drive and handle great in town, however when i began driving on the interstate i noticed problems. While driving straight for a few miles the steering would 'stick' meaning i had to apply extreme force in order to turn the wheel, once it broke free it was back to normal but after i'd drive straight for a few miles i'd encounter the same issue. When i arrived at my first destination (about 750 miles) i noticed that when i would turn in the parking lot the steering was clicking. I will be returning the car to the rental agency as i don't believe this is safe. Unfortunately yet anotherreason never to buy a gm car.

The steering will "stick" at the top after traveling in a straight line for a period of time.this will happen on the highway an in the city but is more pronounced on the highway.i have repeatedly taken it to the dealer and they cannot duplicate the issue even though it happens frequently.seems to be worse in colder weather.this is indeed a safety issue because when it releases you over correct your steering and wander around in your lane.it has been doing this almost since new and it now has 18,500 miles on it.

I rented a 2018 malibu (11k miles) with the 1.5 ecotech engine from hertz in lakeville, mn starting 10/31/18. No vin but it was rental record #147556754, vehicle #02298, license #il aw71337. We put approx 1100 miles on it the first two days - all interstate driving. On the highway, the steering wheel became 'stuck'. To make small lane corrections or change lanes, i had to moderately force the steering wheel to turn. It was comparable to having a 'catch' in the steering. Once the force was made, the car automatically moved 1/4 to 1/2 a lane left or right depending on which way i was turning. After the first two days, the car seemed to work fine. Maybe it was because the weather was cooler after the first couple days - not sure. I did report this to the local hertz customer service person and she said they would look at it. Personally, i consider this a gm issue vs a hertz issue.

During auto stop feature of 20108 malibu, car will pop up with "steering assist reduced, please drive with care" message and disappear. Car will also shut off at various times during auto stop. Chevy dealership will not calibrate car to fix issue.

While driving in colder weather along the interstate at 65 mph for 5 miles or longer the steering wheel slightly locks in at the top position causing a slight over corrections when needing to turn the wheel to change lanes

While driving in slow moving traffic, i will get a warning on the dash that states "steering assist reduced, drive careful" this has happened many times, when taken to the dealership they cannot find anything wrong.

When car shuts down while waiting for green light to change, car shuts off and when it turns back on, i have a warning sign that appears on my dashboard that says "steering assist is reduced, drive with care" and then it disappears. No issues with car just that warning sign.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. While driving 45 mph, the steering wheel seized without warning. The contact released the accelerator pedal and depressed the brake pedal while approaching a stop. The contact managed to steer the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to bredemann chevrolet (1401 w dempster st, park ridge, il 60068, (847) 655-1485) where it was diagnosed that the steering assist software needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

Delayed eccel electrical steering an battery loss. Tire low warning reset for all tires continue to come on, battery dies brought car to dealer they sai it had only 1 recall an it was fixed

I was driving my car this morning this happened 4 times, i was in a stop when i would restart the car to go my steering wheel would do a quick shift to the left then back to its original position then i would get the steering assist reduced sign for second then disappear. It did it 4 times in a matter of an hour and a half. And did it once last week with no massage display.

2018 chevrolet malibu lt, while driving at highway speed on a flat smooth road the steering wheel will stick in the straight position.it requires extra effort to break free from this position, causing the vehicle to jerk and extra correction is needed to keep the vehicle in control.it has happened almost everyday since beginning of january 2021.

After turning on my heater and driving the car 10 minutes the car caught fire. I smelled something burning when i parked and got out of the vehicle, but thought it was coming from outside the vehicle. I came back to my car 2 hours later and the fire department had been out and the front end of my car was completely charred.

Had a car accident on september 17, 2019 my car stalled while making left turn had this problem since i purchased this car also my tires continued to go on flat

While driving the car will slow down and say slow engine power

Luckily it was a single turning lane and no other vehicle was next to me turning.i pulled off side of the road in shock.i drove about half mile and warning light displayed on dash.warning message states steering assist reduced drive with care"what was a brand new 2018 chevrolet malibu purchased in 2019 is now unsafe and inoperable.this steering component issue along with several others were brought to dealerships attention and were not acknowledged and were dismissed.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated that while driving at a low speed, an unusual sound was heard coming from the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an unknown chevrolet dealer, located in chester, va, where it was diagnosed that the shocks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic who stated that it was not necessary to have the shocks replaced. The manufacture was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.

Car turns off and dashboard blinks. Assisted steering control not engaged lights up.

When my car is in park, my system is not picking up that it is in park which means i cant turn off the vehicle which will cause the vehicles battery to die. You have to literally jam the shifter in order for the car to read it, which eventually doesn't work either.

Whiledriving my car at 70mph on the highway my car completely shut off on me and started back up. This was very scary, thankfully i was in the far right lane and no one was behind me at the time. I was thinking it was a battery issue but after getting my battery checked that seemed to not be the case. The same probably happened several times after without any warning and takes a few minutes to restart causing other people in vehicles to blow their horn or curse me out while going around me! i did get a warning sign on dashboard that states stabilitrac. I did take it into the shop today but fear the outcome will not be resolved. I'm just too scared to drive my car at this point in the fear of an accident waiting to happen cause this problem happens at unpredictable times.

The ecm and battery sensor malfunctioned on dec 9. I found out that gmc has known about this for sometime. September 6, 2019 is documented on your site. I was notified from onstar after i passed the mileage for gmc to have pay for this problem.

Car not wanting to get up to speed when pulling onto busy roadway.feels like it creeps up to speed slowly feels like it is not in accurate gear.

I was driving down the road and the car stopped running coming up to an intersection i about got hit by a truck and the car would not restart i then pushed it out of the intersection and walk to the nearest dealership they said there is not a remedy for my car as of right now and i'm still waiting i don't feel safe with me about getting hit driving the vehicle let alone one of my four small children in the car

When i put my car in park. Then turn engine off.the car says i need to put in park

Ecm needs fixing

While driving 70 mph, i get an alert that stated reducing speed. And my check engine light came on. This is not the first time. Lucky i was able to get off the highway without getting into an accident. Also my car sometimes will not cut off because it says my car is in shift even though i have it in park. This is dangerous to have a car reduce speed while driving 70 mph to abruptly go 40 mph. Last time this happen a month ago no codes came up and the check engine light eventually went off. But now my check engine light is back on again.

Narrative from driver:"on tuesday september 22, 2020, at approximately 10:45 am, i left my residence located in boca raton, fl with my gsa vehicle (tag g10 3884v) to drive to the mobil lube oil express (mobil) located at 90 nw spanish river blvd, boca raton, fl. The mobil is approximately 3 miles from my residence. I drove directly from my residence to the mobil and did not make any stops. As i was driving around the back of the mobil building to pull into one of the bays for an oil change, i noticed smoke coming from the hood of the car. I immediately parked the car in a parking space behind the mobil and exited the car. Moments later, flames were coming from the hood of the car. Upon seeing the flames, i called 911, who then called the fire department who came and put out the fire in the car. Additionally, i called gsa who called a towing company (westlake towing) to tow the vehicle away from the mobil parking lot as there is extensive damage to the vehicle and it is inoperable. There were no injuries or property damage to anything other than the gsa car."

When put in park, vehicle does not recognize it is in park upon engine shut off and will not cut the electric signal to the car. Sometimes restarting the engine works but i have had to drive at least a block recently to get the electric signal to cut off. It has occured several times in my vehicle starting on december 24th 2020

Shift to park message displays once car is placed in park. Car will not completely turn off once in park and ignition is shut off

Car won't shift to park, while it's already in park and car will not turn off. Chevrolet should recall this because there are a lot of people with the same issue. My car was brand new when i bought it and now i'm having this issue and i know it's nothing i have done to cause it.

When i put the car in park the shifter does not fully engage resulting in the inability to park the car or turn it off. The message on the dash says "shift into park" even though the shifter is actually in park.

Get "shift to park message" it wont turn vehicle off.

While in motion cars reduced engine power lights up on dashboard and car looses power while driving

'engine being reduced' popped up while i was driving on the highway. My speed was then slowed down to 20mph. This is very dangerous!! went to autozone to have a diagnosis test performed results said it was throttle body/accelerator pedal.

My right blinker and brake light keep shorting out. It will be fine for a few days and then stop working.also, the interior carpet is too short and keep coming out of the trim in the front area s of the vehicle.

The shift sensor isn't being triggered when vehicle is in park. I have a friend with the same vehicle and same problem. Have looked it up on youtube and many others also deal with this problem. When the car is in park it doesn't read as such, making the battery stay running and drain or you cannot turn your car back on until it the sensor is jammed.

Sometimes when i put the car in park & try to cut the car off, the warning signal indicates that i need to shift to park.

The vehicle has a message that pops up on the dash saying "shift to park" when the car is already in park. This does not allow you to turn off the car. This happens when the car is stationary and parked.

Shifter wouldnā€™t shift to park position, so car wouldnā€™t turn off. Sometimes took over a half hour of trying to get this to work. Used part 84687729 control and 84733196 harness. Also have had problem with leak in rear area where antenna is attached whichcaused water to pour into back right rear seat. When replaced the person said the screws were not tightened down fully which caused the leak.

Receive intermittent 'shift to park' light on dashboard once car is placed in park and will not completely shut off. Driver must pull shift back to drive, then neutral then reverse and back to park before the 'shift to park notice shuts off' . If not repaired this can ultimately drain battery or even damage battery.

I was driving to my destination and started to feel my car like jumping when it was accelerating also everytime i park it stutters when i put it in park. I also heard on the news that there was a recall on malibu,so i checked the vin number and it should there was a maintenance recall on my car something about the engine

2018 malibu shift to park message. This issue is very common and people are being charged $700 plus dollars by dealerships to fix. There should be a recall for this problem.

Takata recall my car stalls when i'm at the light. It take about 10 seconds before it get in full speed.

The car is in park but a warning pops up that's says shift to park and the car won't turn off because it thinks it's not in park

I purchased mt 2018 chevy malibu in october 2018, brand new. My vehicle experiences low power/hesitation at all speeds. This is especially evident when turning/pulling out onto an intersection from a stop. There is no acceleration at all. I took it to the dealer & test drove it with the mechanic. During the drive, the car displayed the symptoms and i was told it is because of the '6 speed automatic transmission and also the auto stop'. The car would not accelerate to pull out into an intersection. I put the car in park and when shifting back to drive the transmission slammed into gear and the accelerator barely responded and the car constantly revves over 5,000 rpm's.the car does not accelerate when i push the gas pedal, even when i push it to the floor and seems like the car has no power. This is a serious safety issue as i have almost been hit multiple times by oncoming traffic. A recall definitely needs to be released before someone gets injured or killed.current problems i have had since day 1 of owning the vehicle:1.going at a steady pace then pressing the gas, the car does not want to go.2.taking off from a stop, the car does not want to go.3.pulling into traffic without coming to a complete stop, i try to accelerate and the car does not want to go. 4.going normal speed and trying to accelerate, the car does not want to go. 5.revving over 5000 rpms6.revving over 5000 rpms and not going anywhere.7.making a turn, the car is trying to 'coast' and does not go when i press the gas.

I was driving along this morning at 70mph and all of a sudden i get a warning that engine power is reduced and i drop to 40mph in spite of pressing the accelerator, while the people behind me are rapidly coming up on me. I was able to get off on the side of the road before anything bad happened, but what if i hadn't? this makes me fear for my safety. I killed the vehicle and sat there for a few minutes. When i started it back, that error message was gone, but the check engine light stayed on. After researching, i see this is a common problem that gm is aware of, but hasn't issued a recall. There have been enough people with this problem that a class action lawsuit has been filed. When i called the closest chevrolet dealership, i was told it would be days before they could even look at it.

Over heating light came on while driving on i -71 about 10 mi before columbus oh.i stopped and saw coolant pouring out . I purchased antifreeze and made it to the nearest garage. The nearest garage found that the clips that hold the radiator in place broke, causing the radiator to shift. The shift caused the bougie wheelfor the serpintine belt to rub a hole in the radiator belt. It was necessaryto remove the front end to do the repairs. Total cost $600 by the time antirfreeze cost was added in

When i put car in park a message comes up on the dash to shift to park even thou car is already in park. Car has 100k warranty but dealer says this safety switch not covered or recalled. Reading online this seems to be a common problem. Should be recalled.

When car is placed into park and engine is turned off a 'shift to park' message appears on the dashboard. Vehicle is already placed in park and is not detecting it

There is a safety recall on the 2018 malibu remedy listed is dealer will reprogram ecm software to correct the error. I made the appointment for the recall. Hours after the appointment a technician from the murfreesboro tn chevy dealership called me and said i have to pay a diagnosis fee for them to repair the recall although the issue they want to charge the fee is the recall!!! dishonest business!!!

The air conditioning works when it wants to! i believe this is a safety issue for a driver , driving in 100+ heat. The chevy service department said this is a problem with the malibu and cruse. It has been serviced and needed freon and that was done and it worked for a half day. It started on first day or purchase 7/23-31/2019

I was driving along like normal and the car just stopped running. We cannot get it to start. We tried jumping it, but no luck. I have a brand new battery, so it's not the battery.

While driving the error message " power reduced" and will only do about 30 mph.i have looked on line and at least a couple of law firms have clients for the lemon malibu 2018 model.first time this occured, i was going up a hill with a truck behind meand nearly rear ended me.

The vehicle engine reduced power while on the highway causing abrupt drop in speed to lower than the speed limit almost causing an accident and a bumper to bumper collision.

Was driving the malibu on the interstate traveling 75 mph and all of suddenvehicle started to slo dwn and on the dashboard appeared - engine power is reduced. This could have resulted in an accident and not safe as i do travel back and forth to college.i had to make my way over to breakdown lane, turn car off and then turn back on and drive again.this has happened several times so far with the most recent may 7, 2021

After 2 months of having this car the check engine light would come on and after the stabilitrak light would come on which reduced the speed of the car . This would come onwhen i'm driving or even if i just crank the car up from it sitting over night . I got it tested and the shop doesn't know why it keeps coming on . The check engine lights reads that the throttle need to be changed but that's not the only issue . My boyfriend believes that the hub bearing needs to be fix but we don't know . The car does not pick up speed when the traction light is on . The traction light also reads 'engine power reduce ' before the light comes on . I just got this car and i'm now having to spend 1,000+ dollars on a car that's 'new' . None of the issues associated with my car has been recalled and i don't understand why .

Reduce power message appeared while in traffic reducing speed dramatically. Was not able to go more than 13 mph in a 50mph zone.

While driving engine power reduced message comes on and speed is cut to below 35 mph.

While in motion the engine power is reduced then the car slowed to a speed of 20 mph. Upon starting m vehicle a week a later the engine reduction warning came on again. The throttle body was replaced now i'm being told it's the accelerator pedal position sensor .why should i have to pay for this.

The recall ecm caused engine to stall as i was driving up a hill, i accelerated to make up for the delay and veered into a parked car causing my car to over turn on the hood. Iwas injured and car rendered totalled. This was my second accident. I was sidestepped on the highway causing damage to my entire side of vehicle. Also had near accidents on highway when car lost power due to ecm malfunction. (recall issue that was looked at but never resolved). I have photos available. I have asked various ddepartments at the dealership and gm financial for assistance with this issue but to no avail.

I was driving on a highway going about 50 mph and i started to accelerate and as i hit 55 mph i got an error message reading, 'engine power reduced' and the abs light and engine light both lit up. I also could not accelerate any longer. I pulled over immediately turned off the car and waited about 3 minutes and turned the car back on, i did not get a message however the check engine light still was lit but not the abs light. I drove to an autozone got he code read and it was p2138. I looked up online and it seems as if thousands also have this problem with 2016-2018 malibu's and cruzes. I'm also aware gm has had a lawsuit against them over this.

I was driving in the city, heavy traffic, when with no warning the engine light and traction light came on, and message reduction in power also came on. I could not move faster than 20 miles an hour. I obstructed traffic trying to get off the street, and drivers honked and yelled trying to avoid hitting me. I parked and turned off car and restarted twice. It drove normally but check engine light still remained on. I will see dealer but no warnings or error messages are on now.i am terrified to take passengers or drive on the freeway, or at night.

While in motion cars reduced engine power lights up on dashboard and car looses power while driving

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. While driving approximately 45-50 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle hesitated. Additionally, the vehicle vibrated abnormally while driving on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to petro chevrolet (4012 14th st, pascagoula, ms 39567, (228)813-0262) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20.

While driving down the street i got an alert on the dash indicating 'engine power reduced' check engine light and what i believe is the traction control light came on. Can't accelerate. Can't go more than 30 mph. No open recalls in my vehicle, but seems a lot of people having same issue?

My car reduced its engine power and slowed down from 60 miles down to 20 miles while driving on the high way with a tank truck behind me. I have never been so scared in my life. The engine reduced its power three times now! i was told there was a recall on this and the issue was fixed but clearly it wasn't! i have children and i am terrified to drive my car now because of this!!!!!

We were driving on the freeway and the reduced power light, engine light and traction controllight came on. The power was reduced and we pulled over, shut the car off and waited a few minutes. We started it again and the check engine light stays on, but we were able to gain speed to get back in traffic. This happened once a few weeks ago and twice today. It's very scary and dangerous. We were fortunate enough to be able to get off the road. If traffic would have been heavy it may not have turned out this way.this is my second malibu with this problem. We had it repaired in our 2016 malibu and the dealership split the cost of the repairs. This tells us they know this is a problem.

I turned on my car and it said 'reduced engine power' on the screen and i could only accelerate up to 35mph. I was going up hill it felt like my car was barely moving. Turns felt much slower going uphill when driving in residential areas.

While driving on the freeway at speeds of up to 80 mph at random times the car will suddenly slow itself down to 20 mph and the dash will message that engine power is reduced. It's a serious problem that is dangerous to not only the people in the vehicle but all other vehicles on the road also.

At a stop light, when light turned green, pressed accelerator, "engine power is reduced" messaged flashed, engine and traction lights came on. Unable to accelerate over 25mph, rpm would not go above 3. Recall maintenance for ecm was completed on 01/11/2020.

On the freeway going about 70mph.engine power reduced light came on. My speed dropped to 20mph. Very scary especially with a child in the car. Glad it was not heavy traffic. I went to autozone. (error code p2138)...i called the warranty department and it is not covered.

While operating my vehicle at approximately 50 mph on a busy highway i received a check engine light, traction control light and a warning that the engine power has been reduced. After all of those warnings my vehicle immediately slowed to 20 mph and would not speed up.

This issue happened twice in one day...the first time i was going 55 mph down the road when my car lost all power from the gas petal.i coasted off the road and was able to shift between reverse and then back to drive to get the gas pedal to work again.a couple of hours later that day i was going down the road about 40 mph when i lost power from the gas petal.on that occasion, i was able to pull over into a gas station but before i could get completely stopped the car stalled out.i called onstar to do a diagnostic report on the vehicle, it came back with a p0137 code that says the emissions system is not performing as expected.after doing more research on the problem i found that there is a nhtsa recall number 19v642 that is the true issue.this recall status is showing incomplete, remedy not yet available.

I was driving at highway speed when suddenly car decelerated to 20mph. The check engine light warning popped up along with a engine power reduced message. I was unable to accelerate at normal highway speeds even after turning off and restarting car.

Shift to park warning when exiting vehicle when the vehicle is in park and engine is off

Check engine light and reduced engine power vehicle won't accelerate on highway in traffic

My vehicle often doesn't not accelerate as it should. Rpm will read between 3 and 4 rpm speed will not go above 5 to 10 mph. This is a random occurrence but has became more frequent in the last two weeks. It's happening almost daily.last occurrence was this morning about 8:30am. It happens when coming from a stop. I can push the gas pedal all the way to the floor and the car still will not go above 5 to 10 mph. Rpms will still show normal range for acceleration. I took my vehicle to the dealer for the 5th time only for them to tell me it couldn't be repaired just yet because the accelerator sensor has not failed completely, although it is clear that it is defective. Dealer stated repair would be covered under warranty on my check engine light comes on, and car won't accelerate, indicating that the sensor has failed completely. This is very dangerous because i never know when my vehicle will accelerate at normal speed.

While driving my engine and traction light came on and a sensor popped up that read 'engine power is reduced'. I was driving down the highway and my speed was reduced. I can't and could not speed up.

While driving check engine light comes on and control panel says engine power reduced. The car slows down and you are not able to accelerate.this has happened numerous times since i have bought the car and typically happens while accelerating.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. While attempting to merge onto the highway, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. After a few minutes, the vehicle accelerated. The contact stated that the failure occurred ever since the vehicle was purchased three months ago. The vehicle was taken to chiswell chevrolet of thurmont (111 frederick rd, thurmont, md 21788) where it was determined that the vehicle was performing according to standards. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

Reduced engine power i have had this issue happen 3 times since owning this car. The last time it happened, my son & i were on the interstate going 80mph. My 2018 chevy malibu quickly slowed to 50mph with no further acceleration. Luckily, i was not far from an exit that we could find a safe place to park. I read to pump the gas pedal a few times, so i did, let the car sit for about 20 min., then we were able to limp to our destination by using cruise control.i have read several complaints online of consumers having this same issue. This is a very dangerous issue to have go on while driving & gm is not seeming to want to fix it. I did not feel safe this last time, for myself nor my child. The time if day was around 4:30-5pm, during heavy traffic. It only takes someone not paying attention or an 18-wheeler, who can not stop well, to cause a major accident.

When i drive i'm losing engine power where my speed is reduced significantly. This is very dangerous. I've looked up this issue and there is a recall on malibu's 2016-2018. I haven't got a recall on my car yet but this defect in these cars are ridiculous. Someone needs to get in touch with me asap about this defect. This is very serious and dangerous on the roads. My speed is reduced while i'm driving.

We had the ecm system recal fixed (reprogrammed) and it was ok, but now a couple months later its doing it again. While driving the traction light and the engine light come on and power and speed is reduced, without warning and won't allow acceleration. Usually on the highway. Very dangerous!

On january 11 2021 while driving my 2018 chevy malibu to work i received a check engine warning on my dash, my message stating "reduced engine power" came on and my car suddenly and significantly reduced speed from 50 to 20mph. I was almost hit from behind by another motorist and had to manuever my car to the side of the road. I turned the car off, reestarted it and was able to continue driving. The check engine light remained on. I called the chevy dealer and brought it in for service the next morning. I was told it was a sensor issue and it was covered under warranty. I received the car back on january 13th 2020.today, february 1st 2020 while driving to work my car experienced the same problem. I was able to avoid being hit again and stopped on the side of the road. My car is now back at the chevy dealership. After expecting the issue was fixed and wouldnt happen again, i am extremely fearful for my safety (and those around me) in this car. I am a working mother and need to rely on my car to get my family to work and school.

Check engine light, tracking light, steering wheel locks up , low engine and can't exceed 45 ~ 50 mph all happens when in motion

Check engine light came on and my speed was instantly reduced as i wasdriving. Sometimes it goes off after turning off the ignition but i could be on the highway or city streets and it will occur, causing a sudden slower speed.

Faulty accelerator position sensor. Part is suppose to last the life of the car. The car has 60000 miles on it. It throws the check engine light and reduces power to the vehicle at highway speeds. This is very dangerous as you cant accelerate to get out of traffic or to get across the lanes. You just have to coast to safety.

While driving 65 mph car issued warning reduced engine power and check engine light popped on. Car then would not drive faster than 30 mph. Very sudden and with no previous warning this happened. Took to repair shop and after diagnostic was told acceleration pedal sensor was bad. This is not a covered repair andcost $800. This sudden reduction of power is very dangerous and a safety hazard to me and other cars on the road

I purchase a 2018 chevy malibu in september of 2019 and not even a month after having it, my vehicle began to give me issues. At unannounced times while the vehicle is in motion, a message that reads 'engine power is reduced' displays on the dash and the speed of the vehicle will immediately drop to 20mph. The first time this happened i was on a city street with a steep incline going 40mph in rush hour traffic and almost caused a collision with the sudden speed change and i could not go over 20mph. I had to turn my emergency flashers on and try to make it up the hill safely. The second time this happened i was on the highway driving 70mph in the fast lane and the speed dropped without warning to 20mph and would have put me in a bad collision if i didn't think quick and turn the emergency flashers on and pull over the shoulder on my left had side. This issue is a very serious and dangerous matter and could result in major injury or death. The code that is related to the problem i am speaking of reads p2138.

I was driving down the highway at 75 mph, when an error message came up saying 'reduced engine power' and something about traction control. Then my speed was reduced and i could not accelerate. I had to quickly pull off to the shoulder so i would avoid being hit by oncoming 18 wheelers. I turned the car off and back on. The engine light has remained on, but speed was ok. I ready that this could be due to the throttle body or throttle positioning sensor. What can i do????

All windows get extremely foggy & visibility is poor & i can barely see.

The contact owns a 2018 chevrolet malibu. The contact stated while driving 5 mph, when she noticed the bug guard of the sunroof was disconnected. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated she was able to park on the side of the road and noticed the sunroof housing front drain house had mold and was disconnected. The vehicle was taken local dealer deacon jones gm of smithfield located at 1115 n brightleaf blvd, smithfield, nc 27577, where it was diagnosed that the sunroof housing front drain housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 48,000.

The car stalls while i'm driving on highways regular streets turningno check engine light car full tank proper oil levels etc
