Takata recall . My car just died out off nowhere while i was just parked and when it finally got jumped the 'service airbag' light came. I've done some research and this has been happening to everybody and the repairs is up to $1000

I started my car, and the service airbag popped up on my screen.

Battery system charging failure...car stalls will not start. Even with a jump...doors all lock...airbag failure light comes on

Nov 2014 i got a safety steering issue with is call took it to the deal action chevy 2 times they did nothing about letter # 14232on 6/21/2015 i had an accident because of this steering safet issue that gm/chevy did not do anything aboutthey did not do a recall because it would cost millons of dollars i got blamed for the accident that was because of gm/chevy all gm/chevy did was open a case # 8-1613872160on 10/9/15 and gm/chevy did nothing

I purchased this vehicle on february 7, 2013. Before driving off of the dealer lot, we asked why an airbag light was flashing. The dealership assured us it was fine and did not look into it. They let us drive the car home. After about a week of the light continuing to flash and the car not recognizing that my husband was in the passenger seat and turning the passenger airbag on, we decided to take it into the local dealership to get it checked out. Upon taking it there, we learned that there had been an active recall on my car with the airbag potentially being able to deploy if the car braked too hard. So we found out we were sold the car with an active recall and it was not fixed before purchase. After this first incident on the day i bought it, there has been nothing but problems. The gcm recalled, the wiring harness recalled, both which could start a fire, i have steadily lost gas mileage and now average only 26 mpg, if i'm lucky, not the 37-40 adverstised, there is a buzzing noise when trying to go in and out of eco mode, which the dealership assured us was "probably normal", and now there is some kind of smoke coming out of the vents and moisture all over the driver side floor mat. We have also recently found out that this model was discontinued after only one year. In spite of this, chevy will not do anything about it, but offer to help us trade it in, and even then they would not give us what the car is "worth". In my opinion, if chevy knows they did something wrong, they need to take care of their customers who bought the worthless cars to begin with. I am a completely dissatisfied customer, yet they don't seem to care, so they have now lost not just me and my husband as customers, but also family and friends that have heard of our terrible and unsafe experience.

I hit a deer going 55 mph and the air bag did not deploy.i got a statement on the screen right when it happened saying airbag service. I would think hitting something going that first would deploy an airbag.

While driving home my instrument panel lite up and radio started playing for about 10 minutes then cleared and the service air bag came on.... Have an appointment with chevrolet dealership for diagnostic testing

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. While operating the vehicle, the check battery sensor, the air bag indicator, and the service power steering indicator suddenly illuminated and the vehicle suddenly shut off. The battery was recharged, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to castle chevrolet in illinois where it was diagnosed that the air bag module was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 20,000.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. Upon starting the vehicle, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing and repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

My battery has randomly began to discharge by itself and sometimes the vehicle wont start. The car totally shut down on me while driving in traffic and almost caused a major accident. Called gm and my local chevy dealer and the service manager refused to help me unless i paid for a diagnostic although i almost lost my life to a known open recall all because my vin number wasnt on the list. This is horrible. If i die due to this gm needs to pay..

While driving across a bridge at about 50mph, the engine light, power steering, abs and battery charging system warning lights all came on and then the car completely lost all power. I had little control of the car but was able to safely pull onto the shoulder. I could have crashed onto the median or another faster car could have hit me, i could have died. Tried to get a jump but it would not stay on once cables were removed. Towed to the dealer where 2 business days later i'm told the timing chains, cam shaft and fuel pump need replacing. Car is under 38,000 miles. I have witnessed my dashboard and radio light up when no one is in it and all doors are locked. Car turned off once last week while i was driving under 20mph but immediately turned back on by itself. Just thought maybe i used bad gasoline.have to wait 2-3 more days just for them to start working on it and cannot get an estimate on how long the work will take. Chevy refuses a loaner/rental car until the car is being worked on even though they already rendered it inoperable. I do not feel safe driving this car and haven't had this preowned vehicle even a year yet. I am very disappointed with this car and even more disappointed with the service and lack of help and accommodations from chevrolet.also disappointed that the warranty doesn't take into consideration the inconvenience the customer faces when their car is down.

New chevy malibu 2013, continually fails to run normal. Electric system as well, as any electronic powered systems turn off while "mid-driving" rendering the vehicle unsafe without any gauge readouts and or lights as well as exterior lighting. Potentially rendering drivers( my family) unsafe. Vehicle has been taken back to dealer ship 4 times to have "part in battery" fixed, after each time vehicle runs for 1 week and fails again as it did on the latest date 8 august 2013.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. While driving 65 mph on the highway, the vehicle stalled. The contact discovered that the serpentine belt was fractured and was repaired by an independent mechanic on the shoulder of the highway. The battery was also replaced; however, the vehicle stalled again. The dealer (haasz dalton auto mall, 315 s mill st, dalton, oh 44618) was contacted, but no repairs were made. The manufacturer was not notified. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 90,000.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. The contact stated that the on star system interfered with the electrical systems in the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they confirmed that someone tampered with the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

The check engine light came on and i took it in to get checked. By the time i arrived to the dealership, everything was fine. A week later my wife was in the outside walgreens line with her foot on the brake and the car radio screen turned of and the car started to jump a little. The car radio screen turned back on and everything was back to normal. About 20 minutes later she was at a stop light and the exact same thing happened. Luckily she had her foot on the break and was not going any rate of speed. I have read almost about 100 complaints now of a similar problem but most of the complaints it happened when they were driving at a considerable speed where the radio dash turned of and they lose power to the car for a second or so. This could be a major issue and it needs to be investigated before there are any deaths.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign id number: 13v173000 (electrical system) and took the vehicle to the dealer to have the vehicle serviced. Several weeks after the repairs, the contact heard an abnormal crackling noise from th trunk area. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the generator control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,578.

Burning smell, smoke, battery/check engine light, runs rough

When stopped at light, car shut down, would not restart. (had stall one other time in parking garage but vehicle restarted).no electrical, no flashers.took to dealership.replaced battery and generator control module due to malfunction.asked about 2013 recall.was told it didn't apply.

For the third time we are working on same issue.. Dash lighting up air bag staying on. Wiring replace on second time to dealership.. Going back for this time...

I had four recalls done on 3/17/17 at emerson chevy in auburn, me. 15176, 12212, 13142, and 13342.car had been towed to dealership when it died on side of road.then about two months later, it dies on side of road again (battery not charging again!!).paid over $1,000 to goodwin chevrolet in oxford, me to supposedly fix it.on 6/1/17, my daughter went off the road when it happened again (battery drain, steering fails, etc.luckily she was not going very fast and went into a field.this needs to be addressed before some one gets killed!

While driving and signaling to change lane the steering wheel locked and the radio turned off. I took it to the dealer after speaking with chevy. They were unable to replicated the issue. It happened a few more times then aug 8, 2015 i was able to record a 2 minute video of the issue. It is uploaded on you tube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t44slfcg434 i took the car to the dealer 8/11/2015. On 8/13/2015 nicholas from global auto (908) 757-4000 called saying that this is happening because of a faulty alternator. I find this highly suspect because of the following. As you can see in the video, the radio cuts out, the steering cuts out but the air conditioner stays on. If the alternator is going bad you would see an across the board loss of power not just certain systems. I will be taking the car to autozone this weekend to have the alternator installed. Due to the number of complaints regarding loss of steering on chevy malibu's i have zero faith in this resolving the issue. Furthermore if it was the alternator it would not pick and choose when to quit and it would not only quit when making a right had turn.

The vehicle has been repaired multiple times for the issue of atalling out while driving. Several times i have been driving on the highway with total electrical failure. The electrical power will cut out affecting my breaks, power steering, gauges, and engine. This problem has happened over multiple occasions.

Over the last 3 weeks, when the vehicle has gone into the auto shut-off mode, it doesn't always start back up when you push the accelerator pedal.

While driving into chicago on a busy interstate hwy a warning displayed on the dash "service generator control module,"before i could reach a service center the voltage began to drop and electrical components failed (lights, steering & brake assist, etc.the engine subsequently stopped.fortunately i was able to maneuver tothe shoulder.the battery was completely dead, no electrical systems worked, e.g. Emergency flashers, couldn't remove ignition key.after waiting 4 hours for tow truck, towed to rogers chevrolet in chicago.vehicle sat on the lot two days, then service tech said vehicle started and ran normally with no fault indications.vehicle continues to operate normally.dealer advises to bring vehicle back when it fails.chevrolet customer service says perhaps the computer initiated a false error report and then shuts down the gcm causing the engine to stop and that's why my vehicle is not included in the recall for the gcm problem.it would appear further investigation is warranted. Fortunately no personal injuries were sustained, but my dog leaped from the stranded vehicle into traffic resulting on over $6,600 in medical expense so far. I'm not sure what the death/injury threshold is until gm will repair their own faulty vehicles.

My chevy malibu has been experiencing intermittent electrical issues.it started after my car died at the end of an hour's drive.i thought i was experiencing battery issues but persisted months with no other issues.it happened again 4 months later (december 3rd), and the following day the car completely died on me while traveling highway speeds during a snow storm.my power steering was barely operable, while my lights heat and radio completely stopped functioning.the dealerships seem to be cluless about the issue.the one i visited seemed adamant that the issue could be stemming from my key!chevy has been helpful only in the sense that they gave me a $100 credit to get the car diagnosed (which hasn't given any results). I've seen some of the horror stories from this issue and am terrified to drive this vehicle again until something is fixed.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. The contact stated that the service engine light illuminated and noticed a burning odor coming from the rear trunk area near the eco battery. The vehicle stalled several times, but the contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who cleared the code, but did not provide a specific diagnosis for the failure. The failure recurred and the odor could still be detected. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v173000 (electrical system). The vehicle was taken back to the dealer for further inspection and diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

I was sitting at a red light, with my foot firmly on the brake.suddenly it started to move and suddenly took off and hit the car in front of me (the car had moved up significantly, but i hadn't, so it had a lot of momentum when it hit)!after the accident report was filed, i tried to start the car to leave, but the car wouldn't start.additionally, a ton of error messages were flashing, as well as all indoor and outdoor lights flashing, even the decorative panel blue strip lights.i was terrified.i had to have it towed from the scene.at first, the officer didn't believe me, that it was the car's fault, not mine, but once she saw what was happening, she believed me.the tow truck driver said the car was possessed, he had never seen anything like this before.the car had almost 53,000 miles on it, one year to go with payments, and i had been planning to keep it once it was paid off, until this happened.it could have been so much worse.what if it hit pedestrians crossing the street?i was at a complete standstill.when my mechanic evaluated it, a bunch of error codes printed out, one of which was u0121 multi-axis acceleration sensor lost communication with electronic brake control module.i'm pretty sure this was what caused the accident, but both general motors and my chevrolet dealer say this means nothing.i sold the car and bought a mitsubishi mirage.i will never buy a chevy again.all over the united states, electrical problems are happening to other chevy's (my make, model and year alone) - so far about 167 that i've read about, but no one's doing anything about it.

Battery recharge system draining battery when car is in idol and or connected to a cellular device or when passenger is sitting in passenger seat battery depletes.

I have had repeated issues involving my 2013 chevrolet malibu eco dating back to 2014. I had the vehicle repaired for the same issues multiple times and the issue is still not resolved. My vehicles hesitates constantly and stalls (cuts completely off) in the middle of driving without any warning. The steering wheel also locks up occasionally and water leaks in the trunk. I have owned a few 'brand new' vehicles and i have never experienced anything like this in my life.i am very scared for my safety and the safety of my child. I have voiced my concerns about my safety many times especially after almost being hit from behind by a tractor trailer on a major highway. By the grace of god our lives were spared, but it was very traumatizing experience. Since that incident my vehicle has continued to stall and i have taken the vehicle in for the issues. My car has cut off in the middle of major intersections, parking lots, main highways, etc. At various speeds driving forward and backing up. Now my child is scared to ride in our own vehicle. Every day when i get behind the wheel of my car its like going on suicide mission. Gm cannot fix the problem, won't honor their warranties and brush my concerns off. This is a serious matter and it can eventually result in the loss of a life or multiple lives. I pray that it will not be me or my daughter's life or we cause someone else to lose their life because of our stalled vehicle. I have contacted two dealerships and gm corporate office and i have not received a resolution regarding my vehicle. Basically, the dealership and gm corporate confirmed that my safety and the safety of my child is not a concern or a priority. Help!!

Car starts ever now and than. It won't start all the time and breaks down all the electrical in the car has problems if the car starts it will shut off and the steering locks up which could kill me or someone else the breaks won't work when this happens. The lights shut off radio shuts off nothing electrical works i'm scared to drive this car. Not sure what it is and the dealer isn't sure what it is

On may 9, 2014, my car failed to start and the check engine light came on.i called gm emergency vehicle assistance to jump start my car and drove to the don mealey chevrolet in clermont florida, where my car has been for 22 days.during this time i have questioned why a part for relatively new car is not available.i was not given a valid reason by the dealership.i went on line and discovered there may have been a recall for my car last year.i was never advised about this recall even though the bad part (generator control module) can cause a fire in the trunk or engine stalling.i am very frustrated and more important have no faith in my 2013 malibu eco or in general motor or my dealership.please advise my rights.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. While driving 45-70 mph, the battery saver mode warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle until someone provided jumper cables to jumpstart the vehicle. The contact stated that there was a smoke odor emitting from the trunk of the vehicle. Upon inspecting the vehicle, there was no evidence of a fire. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v173000 (electrical system). The manufacturer and dealer were contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. Updated 08/22/17*ljthe consumer stated the vehicle's failure persisted.

Heat blower stop working. Took to dealer and found out the wiring harnest for the heater blower was melted it had beeb receiving too much power the source is unknow. This could have caught fire.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, the power steering, the battery charging system and the check engine warning lights illuminated. The engine failed to start. The vehicle was towedto the dealer bob bell chevrolet located at 1 kane st, baltimore, md 21224; where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that while driving at 10 mph, the battery charging system light illuminated. The contact drove to the contact's residence. The contact also stated that the battery was completely drained. The vehicle was the not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted at 800-521-7300. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not part of the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case number 8-3240086194 was provided. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000.

I have a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco and when i stopped at a red light the car just shut down. Thought it might have been bad gas at first because the car started right up. Well not even 15 minutes later it did it again. The car started right back up like it did before and didnt have no more issues out of it. The next day had to do some running around the car did fine until the way home. The car cut off on me three different times.only does it when i come to a stop no matter where i'm at. Somedays the car does better then others just hope it don't cut off on me when i'm driving down the road.

We bought this vehicle used with only 5600 miles and has been running fine except for slight smell in rear area.we drove the night before and it was ok, but the next morning the battery was absolutely dead. No lights, horn, wipers, interior lights, got the vehicle pushed out of the garage but no power brakes or steering and transmission was locked-up.called gm for road assistance and car was jump started.i looked to see problems with this model and found complaints of this same problem and also going dead while driving.blogs said they brought vehicles into dealer and they found nothing, which is the same answer i was given other then my wife must of left the door open.i refused to picked the car up to this date as will not have my wife drive this vehicle in fear that it will go dead while driving or will not start and be stranded at night. Blogs stated that the generator control module was the cause and several had to have the module replaced again.my vehicle was on a recall list and the dealer stated the module was replaced once a year ago ( before 5600 miles). The dealer stated the gm expert specialist checked and found no codes and would not authorize a replacement module.i bet if it were any senior executive at gm or their spouse driving this car that it would be replaced! i do believe there is a history here and gm does not want to live up to another engineering error.

Bought used in 2014 with 22k miles from certified chevy dealer.in july, 2016 (now 45k miles), the vehicle would suddenly shut off at low speeds or stops (highway during construction and at stop lights, also when going at a high speed and slamming on the brakes when someone pulled in front of us).brought to dealership twice.first time they replaced a sensor, second time they could advised they didn't know and to bring it back if it happened again.third time brought to an independent mechanic who advised it was related to the eco and we should bring to a dealer.extremely concerned for safety and we have 3 children and frequently drive through minneapolis/st paul areas where there is heavy traffic and construction.

Dashboard notification received indicating "reduced engine power" and to "service stabilitrak".this leads to stalling and/or loss of power to vehicle.loss of vehicle power has happened while driving on multiple occasions leaving the driver and passengers in unsafe locations such as on the freeway and in city traffic.concerns have been reported to local chevrolet dealership.the dealership has provided service on the vehicle for this or similar problems 4 times within the past 12 months.after receiving service, the problems will subside briefly only to resurface in 2-3 months time.

On aud. 24, 2018 when i was on my way to work my car felt like it was about to cut off. Then all of sudden everything inside went blank and the car stalled. I put in park and started it back up.three minutes later it did the same thing, i put in park again and started it back up.check engine light came on and on my way home that afternoon it did it twice again.i saw where was a recall in 2013 but mine must have been included. Its very scary riding in traffic and your call stalls and everything just shuts down on you and i feel it's also dangerous. I have read other complaints like this and need to know what am i suppose to do about it.i need my car to go to work.

My vehicle was not starting. Started after a jump. The next day i had the same problem, but the vehicle did not start after a jump. I tested the battery, it was good. I tested the alternator, it was good. I got the battery charged and the vehicle started that day and the next day. After doing research on the issue, i found a recall on 2013 chevy malibu eco cars for loss of battery charge due to a malfunctioning gcm. The recall describes exactly what was going on with my vehicle down to the malfunction indicator light coming on, which it did. However, after searching for recalls using my vin there weren't any open. I checked with the dealership that i bought the car from and that recall had not been serviced on my vehicle. I feel that that recall should be open on my vehicle.

Takata recall . My car just died out off nowhere while i was just parked and when it finally got jumped the 'service airbag' light came. I've done some research and this has been happening to everybody and the repairs is up to $1000

I have been having electrical problems since the beginning of this year it first started with camshaft and solenoid switch to having to repair the timing change after that was repaired i started having problems with my car shutting completely down locking my keys in the ignition i was told by steve raymond chevrolet to have the battery and alternator check had that done everything come back okay then i was told i needed to change the battery in my key chain did that i was still having problems my main battery would lose voltage fluctuate up and down if the battery voltage get to low that is when the whole car shuts down then finally after all that i was told by one of the service technician that my generator control module is not working properly i have contact gm and reported it to them they are telling me my vin is not the one with the recall my car has the eassist installed in my eco i asked them to send me a listing of the chevrolet malibu eco 2013 i was told they didn't have a list i got on nhtsa website and there was a recall along with alot of complaints about this gcm it also stated that these cars was not to be sold uless these vehicles were repaired with new gcm installed in them my part number is also listed which is 24269448 i also found paperwork from gm about this matter i need for them to step up and repair my vehicle when i purchased my vehicle back on 08/07/2014 i was never told that i had a hybrid vehicle or if there was anything wrong with this car.also when it first started i was told it was my sensor in my back up camera was not working because i first had lost power to my radio, backup camera, and ac i was being told all kinds of things.

Auto stop will not engage unless rpm's are under 500..seldom will"auto stop" engage !!!!vehicle motor will not go slow enough to engage this feature..i have talked to service atchevrolet dealer, & they said the problem can happen at anytime & they don't know what to do about it?????i do, keep complaining!!!!

Takara recalli had my car in multiple times in a dealershipbergstrom like five times and every time they work on it there's something else wrong .the car has electrical issues the radio turns on and off by itself .the temperature thing became on for high temps when the ac is off.i had replaced multiple sensors replaced like the crankshaft sensor. My car shut off on me through the drive-through .it has a rough time is starting sometimes and stalls . Now it's saying something about an oil pressure sensor o2 sensor.couple times i heard the carbackfire so i got a new cadillac converter.i've evenhave smelled some smells like burning.i hear a clunking noise in the front when i go over a little bumps or when i turn really sharp not going fast.been having multiple issues with this car and would like some help figuring out what's going on with t and would like some help figuring out what's going on with it!i don't feel safe sometimes and i'm afraid my car siri might go out or something and it won't run or start for me when i'm driving. Please help.

While driving home my instrument panel lite up and radio started playing for about 10 minutes then cleared and the service air bag came on.... Have an appointment with chevrolet dealership for diagnostic testing

Got in car & pushed the passenger window button driver side, window did not go down, reached over to the passenger side & did not go down. Went to dealer & tried to get a rep to come to the car before i shut it off but couldn't so i turned off car & got a rep, when we got to the car and turned it on the window worked. They said bring it back when it's not working. I left, got to where i was going, it would not roll up. It happened periodically over time. Finally i was able to get it to service & a rep witnessed the window not working. They found a short in the window switch & replaced the switch w/2025110 .2 diag. Whatever that is. It is still not working right, to this day. On 2/14/15 i called waldorf service about the problem with the window, voltage fluctuating from 11.43 to 14.45, the battery charge indicator is low most of the time & my car was making sick airplane noises. I was told that they were busy & that i would get a call back. However they did not, so i took the car to chevy on 2/23/15 and repeated the above issues and had an added issue car radio stayed on while the key was out of the ignition, both car doors were open. I have a video of the incident. They asked me to leave the car so i did.i was told that the fluctuating was normal & that hybrid/eco vehicles make that noise. I had to take it back on 3/20/15, the noise was unbearable.i was told i had to wait about 15 minutes, i said i will wait.i went back to my car and turned it on, not 3 mins later a rep came out & said i hear it, it is loud, something is wrong. I found out on 3/22 that it is the hybrid motor. Was promised it back 3/24, they still have it. They waited until my warranty expired. Its covered but not the rental car. I have to pay for all but possibly 3 days. I still have to fight for repairs to my passenger window. I think i have an electrical issue.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. While the brake pedal was depressed, the battery service, service stability, and power steering warning indicators illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was pushed to the road shoulder and the battery was charged by a passerby. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact purchased a new battery, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence again. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Have been having issues with the battery since i got the car back in 2017. Replaced the battery 3 times with a year thinking it was just a dead battery. After the third time it happened took it to the dealership and was told that the battery cables needed to be cleaned and battery needed to be replaced paid 400 dollars for that . 6 months later same problem happens. I'm in my car battery light comes on , battery voltage starts to get low, car losses all power and i am stranded. Had it towed to the deal ship because i just had this same problem 6 months ago . After a week in the shop i was told it was the belt and the repairs would be 400 dollars again. I went ahead and agreed to have them work on the car for a call a day later saying something else's was wrong and repairs were now 1550 dollar. Went ahead and agreed to get it fixed asked is this going to fix my problem i'm having with the battery was told yes. Got mycar out the shop and had the same issue with the battery light and car stalling in less than 24 hours of having the car out of the shop. I searched recalls and did see one for this car about the gcm causes the battery light to come on. Where i searched my vin number recall did not show up for my car. What am i to do now the description of what's happening with my car fits the description of a recall with this make model and year of my car.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. While driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle approached a red light and stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted normally, but stalled again. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the vehicle was experiencing an electrical failure and recommended taking it to the dealer. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,587.

Was driving down interstate going 70 mph when electrical system went haywire. The engine engine stalled and lost power steering. Very dangerous!

Stereo/navigation intermittent always default to one radio station and settings, passenger seat had a crackling sound a few times no odd smells or smoke, turns signals won't work when stereo is inoperative.

The car will stop in the middle of driving it! the codes on my car is p00014 and p00010. This issue will cause accidents. Please notify the drives of this recall i have went to the safercar link and checked me car vin and the recall has not been sent out for this car but it will cause injuries if not death. My car stopped on the in the middle of traffic..

When i am driving my car, thewhole car shut off. The battery goes basically dead and my steering locks on me. I then have to put it in park in the middle of the road just so i can restart the car. I was on the freeway yesterday with my 6 six year old godson and the car shut off in the middle of driving in traffic on the freeway. Itis starting to get scary and i need it fixed.

Around the time i bought the car, on 11/30/12 at 5812 miles, unknown to me the car had a concern of loss of battery charge which called for an inspection of the generator control module. So a gen control module performance test per recall was performed. In may of 2013, i stopped at red traffic light and the engine was idling, when i proceeded to accelerate by placing my foot on the gas pedal at the green light, the vehicle shut off on me. This had nothing to do with the automatic shut-off that conserves energy. On 6/24/13 at 14006 miles, i tried to get them to do a diagnostics and i don't think they did a diagnostics even though i was still under bumper-to-bumper and powertrain warranty. They suggested a test drive with a mechanic foreman to see if the issue would present itself again. The issue did not occur again. In july of 2013, i then complained that the car had poor engine acceleration entering onto a highway and took it in for service at 14810 miles. They did a r&r ecm recalibrate controller program.on july 26, 2014, i drove earlier in the day for quite a few hours through the city and a little on the highway. I accelerated once on the highway at which the issue of acceleration presented itself again.at 38,548 miles, the following messages was shown on my dashboard:1. Battery service needed2. Power steering service neededi then called onstar and i asked them to do a diagnostics and they gave me the following messages:3. Engine control module cruise control system not performing as expected. (p155a)4. Powertrain system has detected malfunction related to cruise control system. Cruise control disabled. (c0800)5. Powertrain system has detected malfunction related to transmission. The check engine light will not illuminate. Vehicle performance and shift behavior may be affected. Top shift feature will be disabled if equipped. (p0826)

The abs and service stabilitrak lights are on. Cannot brake using abs nor use stabilitrak.

2013 malibu, low engine power/ service stabilitrak. Smelling like melting burning rubber, won't pick up speed on acceleration, it died at the stoplight. Continued on as i accelerated to go up a hill it died, i was in town on city street. The car behind me almost hit me thank goodness there was not a car coming and they were able to get in the other lane. This has happened to me two times. That last time when the car almost hit me i was able to get the car to start and make it home. It's been in my driveway for 2 weeks. It sounds like it wants to turn over but it will not start. And everything i've read it seems like it's caused from the generator control module. There is a recall, but for some reason not for my malibu eco 2013 .

Battery voltage indicator came on first and engine light indicator on. Replaced battery and alternator. Car stalls when gas pedal not applied. Car turns completely off when braking to stop signs, red lights, slowing down to turn. It's completely unsafe. It has turned off on me crossing major highways. Mechanic replaced fuel pump due to p0300 code etc. Car still stalls and turns off while driving, slowing down to stop, turns off at red lights, stop signs and when braking to turn. At times, i do smell as if something is burning. This smell does not happen all the time. I have replaced the battery, the alternator, and the fuel pump. The car still stalls and cuts off. I bought the car in august 2018, i have had these problems with the car since october 2018.

Takata inflatorswas driving on a city street and check engine light came on. Pulled over and turned car off. Sat for about 10 minutes and started it again, check engine light was still on. Started to drive back to my house and got only 10 feet before the car shut itself off, and wheel locked up. Put the car in park, and tried starting it again, and it turned over but shut itself off again, with notice of engine power reduced, service stabilitrak. Would not start the third time. This is my only means of transportation, and being a mother i need this car to work and take care of my kids. If chevy really cared about their customers, they would read all the complaints that many of us are having on the same issue and recall or fix something. I am so disappointed.

Battery system charging failure...car stalls will not start. Even with a jump...doors all lock...airbag failure light comes on

Car stalled in traffic....battery charging system failure light came on. As well as various other lights...doors locked...no headlights or blinkers worked. No power steering...would not stay running after it was jumped...replaced battery...ran for 2 weeks... Same thing happened...dealer would not look at it..

Help!!

I purchased my 2013 malibu eco in november of 2013. On or about march 1, 2014 we were traveling at approximately 70 miles per hour when were cut off by a truck. I had to slam on the brakes with some force to avoid a collision and upon doing so the motor lost all power and began to shake with my speed going from 70 down to 20 mph. I could not regain the speed limit and had to pull over thinking it was because i was driving using the manual option. I was in 6th gear with cruise control on. I was able to get the vehicle home after a 90 mile drive at about 45 mph. I did not report this to the dealer as the next morning i started the vehicle and it seemed fine. A month later we took the same trip and this time the same issue occurred although it was not precipitated by a near collision. The car simply lost all power in while driving city streets. The clutches in the transmission were grinding as i tried to get the car to gain engine power. Again i foolishly did not report to the dealer as i was able to get the vehicle back to speed after about a hour of driving. In june the same issue appeared and i finally did take it into the dealer and they replaced the brake pedal position sensor shorted causing transmission not to downshift properly. They could not replicate problem. In late july the same issue reoccured and this time the dealer performed a recall on the turn signal lamp outage. Then in early september the issue reoccured while my wife was driving locally. The cars brakes were so hot the wheel weights affixed to the front tires were laying in our driveway having melted off. This time the dealer replaced the master cylinder, front rotors, brake pads and wheel weights. In early october i went to have an oil change and tire rotation and when they took the front driver wheel off the front brake rotor retaining bolt fell out.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. While driving various speeds, the vehicle lost power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to hawk chevrolet of joliet (2001 w jefferson st, joliet, il 60435) where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft solenoid failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer and stated that they would call back. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

The vehicle has been repaired multiple times for the issue of atalling out while driving. Several times i have been driving on the highway with total electrical failure. The electrical power will cut out affecting my breaks, power steering, gauges, and engine. This problem has happened over multiple occasions.

The car will stop in the middle of driving it! the codes on my car is p00014 and p00010. This issue will cause accidents. Please notify the drives of this recall i have went to the safercar link and checked me car vin and the recall has not been sent out for this car but it will cause injuries if not death.

The vehicle rpm's don't go low enough, to initiate the auto stop.. It only goes down to about 500 rpm's, when brake, & not low enough to activate auto- stop!!evidently, the motor has to go to almost zero, to kick -in...dealer service dept didn't know what to do, or tell me ??? what should i do next ???

Over the last 3 weeks, when the vehicle has gone into the auto shut-off mode, it doesn't always start back up when you push the accelerator pedal.

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. While driving 70 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the failure was more evident in cooler temperatures. The vehicle was taken to bob price chevrolet buick gmc (located at 1225 s state hwy 16, fredericksburg, tx 78624, (877)720-6955) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

Gm replaced my generator control module on june 13 because of a recall. The proper tests were not performed due to them having it in shop for 45 minutes (see recall documents). Gcm was replaced and i was sent home with it on june 13. On june 14, i started the car and an error code appeared on dic for battery. Contacted the dealership and they advised me to drive the vehicle to dealership (over 1hours away from my house). Every so often my dic would show a new error code, i contacted dealership each time, i was advised to continue to travel. I made it 40 minutes into my travel and i heard a loud clunk. A few seconds later all the error codes started appearing on dic. The power steering shut off all while i was going 75 miles on the interstate. I managed to get the car to the side of the road. My car started going crazy (windows rolled up and down, windshield wipers started working, and radio shut on and off) all on its own. My entire cabin filled up with black smoke and there was a strong odor of burning plastic. The car died within a few seconds of getting the car to shoulder. I contacted dealership again and advised them what was happening. They stated they were calling a tow trunk and hung up on me. Tow truck company contacted me to inquire location the tow truck driver had an extremely difficult time getting the car onto the tow truck. My car would not budge and he was worried about the strong odor/smoke. He literally had to drag my car onto the truck. I was taken to the dealership and provided a rental car. I picked my car up on june 17, all that was replaced was generator control module again. This car has been in and out of the dealership for recall work at least 9 more times in the last year.dealership keeps cars for days - returns to me and says "no codes are being thrown on machine. Car is working properly".

Engine light constantly on, car shuts down while driving. Dealership repaired one time and in less than 6 months it's happening again

Excessive oil consumption regarding the ecotec 2.4l engine (luk). I had purchased my vehicle in september of 2018 with 87,932 miles. The vehicle was inspected and serviced. Prior to reaching the recommended 7500 mile oil change interval and before the 'change oil soon' notification, my check engine light illuminated. I had the vehicle towed to a certified gm dealership to be diagnosed on december 14th 2018. It was noted the vehicle was 3 quarts low on oil at 94,530 miles. I continued to monitor the oil levels there after until my next servicing at 97,063 miles, again the oil was low but within margin as i had topped off as needed. Now with my vehicle at 100,134 miles and still losing oil i am concerned that the engine is plagued by the same problem as found in the 2.4l (lea) found in the equinox and gmc terrain. It is my understanding there was a manufacturers defect with the piston rings combined with the oil spray cooling that lead to gm issuing a special warranty coverage to the lea variant however no coverage was extended to the luk variant. It is also to my understanding that there is no discernible difference internally between both variants with the luk engine slightly modified to support the (bas) belt alternator starter mild hybrid drivetrain. Both still contain the same pistons, piston rings, and oil jet spray technologies. At this point i have raised my concerns with gm and have scheduled a oil consumption test to be done (ruled to be unreliable in the lawsuit regarding lea type engines). I am also raising my concerns here as well as i believe this to be a safety issue as a result of manufacture defect and i believe gm intends to skirt the issue by only addressing the type of engine involved in the original lawsuit and only those vehicles for which they were equipped. I appreciate taking your time to review this case and hope to see a resolution.

My name is [xxx]i bought a 2013 chevy malibu three weeks ago. I havebeen experiencing headache, weak , dizziness and nauseous . I have took it to the dealer and explained the situation and they checked the vehicle and they told me there was nothing wrong. I wanted to know of there is any recall forthe manifold exhaust, catalytic converter,or all exhaust system, but something most be wrong dealer don't want to do anything, and still have power train warranty.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Purchased the car in august 2013 (new), factory installed stereo worked fine at time of purchase.in september 2014 stereo would not read music off phone when plugging in through usb port in vehicle, which is a feature of the stereo that is supposed to work.it worked up until that point, but then stopped and started giving messages indicating "files unfounded".i have brought the vehicle to dealership for this issue to be fixed with no success.the dealership is at a loss as to a fix for this issue. The stereo system which is called "mylink" will not read music from the phone as it should. The phone being used is an apple product.upon doing research online i've discovered that this is an ongoing problem with apple products and gm's "mylink" stereo system.others have complained of this same problem to dealerships and gm directly with no success in getting the problem successfully resolved.here is a link http://gmauthority.com/blog/topic/mylink-stopped-recognizing-ipod-classic/ to an online forum with several people complaining of the same problem i'm experiencing and who have all contacted gm with no success in getting the problem resolved.i am at a loss and have no idea how to get my stereo fixed that is a gm factory installed stereo.the car is still under warranty for another 6k miles and i would like for the problem to be resolved, however gm seems to not be offering any resolutions.

The fuel mileage is very inconsistent. It can range from an average of 20 to 28 and has been as low as 18 and as high as 29. Before you dismiss this complaint as driving conditions or rout-this car travels the same 8 mile rout 4 days a week to work and not much more than that in an average month. It has been on highway trips and not gotten over 29 mpg. The dealer said it was duel to the fuel mixture that i was purchasing. I have tried every brand of gas in the town i live in and it does not have a noticeable effect on this problem. Does not achieve the advertised mileage.

The vehicle has been repaired multiple times for the issue of atalling out while driving. Several times i have been driving on the highway with total electrical failure. The electrical power will cut out affecting my breaks, power steering, gauges, and engine. This problem has happened over multiple occasions.

Car stalled in traffic....battery charging system failure light came on. As well as various other lights...doors locked...no headlights or blinkers worked. No power steering...would not stay running after it was jumped...replaced battery...ran for 2 weeks... Same thing happened...dealer would not look at it..

Driving up hill having to decelerate, there is a hard jerk as if the brakes were applied-this is dangerous due to human reaction to also quickly to apply the brakes. This issue happens randomly and the first time i thought that the vehicle had struck something or had a major malfunction. It only last for a second of time. The dealer explained that it was just characteristics of a 6 speed transmission. This is my third gm with a 6 speed and the others did not do this.

I was driving and started hearing a loud alter he and then the car seemed to have shut off and started back up the engine light came on i pulled over turned the car off to see if the engine light would go back off it didn't now it keeps making the skreeching sound and still shuts off while driving and on a stop

Eassist recall for malibu eco.my vehicle has the same problems as the recall, but my vin number is not on the recall list.the vehicle make and model match. All of my maintenance is up to date.i would like someone to from this company to look into my vehicle.the vehicle will not start,i have brought 4 new batteries in the last 2 years.the malfunction indicator light is on.it has been on for a year now.there is a burning smell when i drive it sometimes.i have had the vehicle diagnosed several times by a dealership and now by an outside mechanic, who informed me about the recall.i was told if this doesn't get fit soon my vehicle could catch fire.i would like help in resolving this situation.

The abs and service stabilitrak lights are on. Cannot brake using abs nor use stabilitrak.

I purchased this vehicle january 2014 at 5,000 miles. I began to notice trouble with brakes and acceleration a couple of months after. Braking was not smooth or consistent at times. At times i wasn't able to accelerate and it felt like i was driving with parking brake on. Later i noticed that i could control this by lifting the brake pedal with my foot. The brake pedal wasn't releasing on its own. I took the car to a chevrolet dealership (same dealer that fixed another recall on this car for electrical wiring recall) to have the brakes checked out. They said the brake assembly was faulty and kept the car for a few days. Since the part hadn't been delivered and i needed a vehicle asap, i picked up my car to use until the parts came in to the dealer. When i was leaving the service center, i wasn't able to go in reverse. I made sure the emergency brake wasn't on and even tried to turn it on and off to make sure it was definitely off. The tires were aligned straight and try as i may, the car would not go in reverse. I went in to the service department and spoke with the technician who came out and tried reversing the car without success at first. He eventually got the car to go in reverse and didn't seem concerned or thought this to be significant. The next day, i was driving on the speedway and suddenly i could not accelerate past 50 mph regardless of how much i pressed on the accelerator. The car started to slow down on its own and i was terrified that other vehicles would hit the back of my car. I got off the highway on the next exit and my vehicle started to smoke and scraping/groaning sounds were heard. I barely made it to a shopping center where i had to call a tow truck to take the car back the dealer for service. Tomorrow it will be one week since i took my car in and i still don't know when the parts will be delivered or when my vehicle will be fixed.

For almost 2 months, the brakes on the car do not release.this issue started during a snow storm in the winter but has continued.it is not all the time, but seemingly every evening after work that the brakes are locked up.mornings are usually fine.the pedal stays depressed, which i didn't realize for a few weeks, leading to cruise control not working, sluggish mpg rates, extra wear on the brake pads, engine strain, lower speeds than expected, no coasting, difficult accelerations, and tail lights staying on after exiting the vehicle.the pedal can be released manually by kicking it up with your foot, but this is really tiresome in traffic and long commutes.

During warm weather, brakes will remain engaged when brake pedal is released. Pumping brakes can help to release brakes. If foot is not on the accelerator, the car will rapidly come to a stop. I took the car into the dealership with these issues and it was determined to be the brake pedal pivot bushing sticking or expanding. The brake pedal arm and both side retainers were replaced under extemded warranty with relief from symptoms for one year. Following summer and the symptoms are persisting. I bring the car back to the dealership again and this time they find the brake pedal position sensor arm loose causing erratic pedal position. They replaced the bpp sensor and retainer and the problems subside. Now i am on the third summer of owning this vehicle and in the same exact month every year i begin to have issues with the brakes not operating properly. This same issue is being reported by other owners of this vehicle and i am imploring the nhtsa to investigate this matter before a party is seriously injured.

Right rear hub sensor broken. Traction control and anti-lock brake lights on dash illuminated on 4/15/16.took to dealer on 4/19/16.$390 to repair.mileage is 49,500.

Started car and had no power steering and a warning to service. Brought to dealer and was told after the vehicle had warmed up that the electric assist motor had quit and there has been issues with this during cold weather. It had been below zero for an extended period. The vehicle was parked overnight and lucky i had not been moving when it happened. Nothing was done at dealership as it started working after sitting over night in there garage. This is a $2000 repair if the electric motor goes out and a safety issue. I bought this car new in minnesota and cold is a factor here and the electric steering should not be failing at 48,000 miles.

While driving steering seems to feel as if it is locking up. I have to give it a little tug to free it and that causes the car to swerve a little. It seems like something is holding the steering in that position, while driving there is movement in the steering.

When driving the malibu at highway speeds the steering sticks, almost like a dead spot at the center position. Minor corrective inputs are difficult, take more force than needed.

Car stalled in traffic....battery charging system failure light came on. As well as various other lights...doors locked...no headlights or blinkers worked. No power steering...would not stay running after it was jumped...replaced battery...ran for 2 weeks... Same thing happened...dealer would not look at it..

Was driving down interstate going 70 mph when electrical system went haywire. The engine engine stalled and lost power steering. Very dangerous!

Help!!

Purchased 2013 chevy malibu eco in august 2013, and recently started noticing that steering wheel becomes very stiff and feels like it locks when driving over 60 mph and in a 12 o'clock steering position.i have to jerk it when making slight turns or changing lanes, and has almost caused me to have an accident.i took it to freeway chevrolet in chandler, az.the car was left there for four days, and dealer said they could not find any issues.i was told that the steering power is electrical and their computer reads that there are no issues with it.well, i am still encountering same issue and fear i may have a fatal accident.now that i see i am not the only one experiencing this issue, there may be a lawsuit coming against chevy.

Over the last 3 weeks, when the vehicle has gone into the auto shut-off mode, it doesn't always start back up when you push the accelerator pedal.

The vehicle was stationary at first from the night before. When we got in to leave, it was slow starting. We pulled out & noticed the power steering was a little stiffer than normal. We drove about 5 miles to our destination & the car stalled completely, all power was lost, including our doors being stuck locked & our ignition was stuck in the ignition, it was not able to be steered or anything. Nothing worked. Luckily our windows were down as the heat was nearing 100 degrees, it was hot. The car was carrying myself, my husband, & our 2 girls, ages 8 & 11. My daughter had to climb behind the seat to release the emergency trunk latch to open it. Our doors eventually let us unlock them. Upon getting a jump start because we could not even get our menus up, it weakly started but immediately died as soon as it was disconnected. We tried to get the jump start menu to work but it said it was disabled. We had to walk the rest of the way into our destination, our vehicle was forced to be left along the road, partially in the road since we could not steer it over, with the windows down & key in the ignition since it would not come out. We had to pay to have it towed an hour back to our home. My husband had to walk the 5 miles to get his truck. We had to have family drive the hour long trek to give us a ride as we cannot all fit in our truck. This whole scene was an absolutely stressful mess!

Stereo/navigation intermittent always default to one radio station and settings, passenger seat had a crackling sound a few times no odd smells or smoke, turns signals won't work when stereo is inoperative.

Battery system charging failure...car stalls will not start. Even with a jump...doors all lock...airbag failure light comes on

The contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu eco. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward and crashed into another vehicle. No one was injured during the crash. The contact also stated the lights on the instrument panel flashed before accelerating. The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where an investigator further inspected the vehicle but could not detect a failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 9,600.updated 03/05/14*lj

While driving on a city street, the cover of the sunglass holder suddenly dropped down, covering the rear-view mirror. A holder for the cover had broken, and the cover could not be held closed. Even taping the cover shut doesn't work, as the tape releases unexpectedly, blocking the view to the rear.

The driver and passenger air vents in the dash do not stay open when the blower is running on high with the system set to recirculate. Driving under normal conditions will cause the center vents to close from road vibration, in turn causing a domino effect and the air pressure coming out causes the other vents to close one by one. The left to right adjustment on the vents is worn out before 10k miles on my vehicle. Cheap...

The contact stated that the tubing around the sun roof was retaining water. As a result, mold developed and caused an abnormal odor. The dealer drained the water out of the tubing, but was not able to prevent the failure from recurring. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 15,000.

Car began making a noise in the rear at speeds above 30 mph.dealer diagnosed as worn out rear wheel hubs.had to be replaced at only 61,000 miles.this seems to be premature and could have been dangerous.vehicle has been maintained regularly and driven under normal conditions.
