Was driving vehicle when it suddenly caught on fire. When fire was extinguished, consumerwas informed that the location of the fire was in the alternator due to an electrical short in system. This is the 2nd time it happened. The first time it occurred had taken to dealer but nothing was repaired. This timedriver was trapped for a while in vehicle. Owner did not want vehicle. Lien holder has vehicle now.

Remained in neutral -- service was done on the computer- a rebuilt computer was installed 01/08/1999 -- this did not solve the problem -- i was given a $353.21 credit towards this invoice of 01/08/1999 - then same problem existed and the service dept.of berglund chevrolret in roanoke - tore into the transmission and clutch assembly, plate and gaskets for another $447.30 and did not return the original computer parts and we are still haveing a problem with the automobile.please have someone contact by telephone as sson as possible, as we are still having a problem with the clutch assembly.

While driving 35 mph,consumer slowed to make a turn andvehicle stalled.the consumer was unable to steer due to the steering wheel being immobile. Dealer was informed, but the manufacturer was not.

Head bolts in the engine broke several times.

May owners have had this fail dealer has kit. Repair cost $350 should be a recall.they know it!!

On july 18, 1999, i left my car at the dealership.i wanted and oil change, check the battery as it was sluggish when starting and to check on a squeak in the rear of the car.the short version is the dealer called and advised that the coolant coupler is about to break off in the lower intake.the cost to repair would be about $700.i was not happy and did not let the dealer make this repair.when i picker up the car as the other items had been fixed, i had the mechanic show me the problem.he indicated that the coupling was about to break off.i asked him what would cause this problem and he advised that the coupling was poorly made by chevrolet and that the part was inherently defective as they had used very thin aluminum to make the part and that the engine coolant ate away the tube from the inside.he also indicated that the newer intake's coolant coupling was made of more substantial metal and that the replacement parts were made of better metal.he said that he see's these all the time.the part cost $12 and the rest is labor.i discusssed with the service manager who confirmed what the mechanic said.i called chevrolet, but did not get any type of answer except the car was out of warranty.i asked if there was anyone to appeal and the women said no.bottom line is it appears that a cheap part was used in manufacturing the vehicle that is not readily apparent during the warranty period.the other thing is i am not to sure that the mechanic might not have just broke the tube and is trying to blame it on chevrolet and make me pay for his mistake.if anything else is needed, please call or write.

The timing belt broke one month after purchasing. It has been replaced four times. The first time it was put on wrongly, went back to dealer, the second time it lasted one year, the third time it lasted two years, the fourth time was replaced on 12/27/99.

Seat belts are attached to the door. The consumer feels the design is dangerous, that in a collision and door opens, the seat belts would offer no protection.

When vehicle was involved in a crash, hitting a curb at 35 mph, the driver's side seat belt did not lock upon impact, causing driver to suffer injuries.

Problems with 1993 chevrolet lumina.*mrthe seat riser was broken in five places and the seat in two.the consumer indicated that the seat has not been abused nor has the vehicle been involved in an accident.the consumer request that the manufacturer provide a replacement seat and riser at no cost.the consumer indicated that he could do the installation himself.

In june 95 consumer experienced pulsation,.the dealership replaced the rotors and padsat 42, 296 miles.august/95 at 44,500 miles.the first time consumer was driving down a hill, as she began to brake, there was pulsation, the pedal went to the floor and there was no response.she had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The second time at 64,000 miles son was driving, felt vibrations and began to step on brakes and there was no response, he had to use the emergency brakes to stop the vehicle also.

Abs light comes on.

Brakes were checked and front pads and rotos replaced in 1998,were told rear are not working due to rust and needs to be replaced. Pads are like new but stiil need replacing due to design. Cost $600.00 and will continue to be a problem. Already spent $300.00 on front brakes one ago and they need replacement. General motors should hold some responiability for this problem and cover this cost for repair.

Brakes are defective, consumer has taken vehicle to dealer a few times forbrake problem, dealer has already replaced calipers, pads, brakes lines, and some other few items, but problem still occurs.two mechanics, who repaired the vehicle, both stated the rear brake calipers freeze placing all work loads on front brakes causing premature failure of front brakes and rear brake discs.

The rear suspension, bushing at the end of the spring in rear suspension on passager side is gone and the one on the driver side looks like it is about to come off. The squeaking noise from the back started a couple of months a go but was hardly noticeable till this last week or two. The rubber bushing itself cannot be replaced with out buying the spring asssembly from gm. We had to also replacethe front brake pads atabout 50000 miles and found the rear brakes c alpers frozen, the dealer got the rear brakesunstuck. But we still hear noise when brakes are applyed .we did have the engine replaced at 58,100 miles in 3/5/98 found #6 piston worn . Vehicle has corroded rear disc brakes had replaced at 5,649 miles and still has problems.(ea94-041).tttwo rotors were replaced, grinding noise continues, dealer can not find problem.

In june 95 consumer experienced pulsation,.the dealership replaced the rotors and padsat 42, 296 miles.august/95 at 44,500 miles.the first time consumer was driving down a hill, as she began to brake, there was pulsation, the pedal went to the floor and there was no response.she had to use the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The second time at 64,000 miles son was driving, felt vibrations and began to step on brakes and there was no response, he had to use the emergency brakes to stop the vehicle also.

Would not consider my concerns, this is not a normal wear and tear problem!this car has never been wrecked and as stated earlier has no other areas of significant rust. Rear suspension failure, bushings at the end of the spring in rear suspension are rubbing together, when rubber bushings are gone the steel to steel contact.

The rear suspension, bushing at the end of the spring in rear suspension on passager side is gone and the one on the driver side looks like it is about to come off. The squeaking noise from the back started a couple of months a go but was hardly noticeable till this last week or two. The rubber bushing itself cannot be replaced with out buying the spring asssembly from gm. We had to also replacethe front brake pads atabout 50000 miles and found the rear brakes c alpers frozen, the dealer got the rear brakesunstuck. But we still hear noise when brakes are applyed .we did have the engine replaced at 58,100 miles in 3/5/98 found #6 piston worn . Entered car from passanger/front with feet still on the ground. Reached over and started car to warm it up. Car look off at a very high rate of speed dragging me then crashing into the garage. My three year old son that was standing outside of the car states that it went backwards a tiny bit and then forwards realy fast while dragging his screaming mom.
