While driving north on the highway had made a u- turn and was struck by a drunken driver that had crossed the lanes.neither airbagdeployed,nor had the seat reclined backwards, upon impact.
While driving about 30 mph consumer's vehicle was struck in the front by another vehicle.upon impact,air bags did notdeploy.
The air conditioner compressor broke loose in the engine compartment when driving lost all power .tt
I took my van to the shop for a transmissionleak,shop man took the van inside turned off the car with the key in his hands the van was smoking and the starter was turning the engine without the keys inside , the ignition switch was burningand the connectors.now there is two other lumina van that had electrical fire but there was no one to stop it so it cought on fire. That is only the two van that had the same thing .now there are two lumina van that electricals in his hands.
After shutting off engineignition switch started smoking, ignition switch had to be replaced.
Went out to start vehicle, heard a static noise, smelled smoke and saw smoke coming out fromsteering column. Tried to unhook the battery, butvehicle caught on fire.contacted dealer.
Radiator core and heater box has rusted completely through.tt
The contact owns a 1991 chevrolet lumina apv.while driving 15 mph, the contact lost steering ability.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the rear two bolts that hold the engine failed, which caused the steering column to disconnect.as of july 26, 2007, the dealer has not repaired the vehicle.the current and failure mileages were 168,000. The front subframe mounting bolts rusted causing the retainers and frame mounts to slip off the bolts. The car was in the yard when this happened. I did find a recall on these bolts and retainers under a 1991 lumina. However the dealership in my area (shearer cheverolet of south burlington vermont) informed me that my car"s vin number did not fall under that recall. My question is if my vin number did not fall under that recall and the same thing happened to my car as the rest of them doe's it not make sense that there are more lumina"s out there that this could happen to? and if so has it all ready. When these mounts pop off the bolts the steering houseing comes apart, and believe me it comes apart. I only thank god that i was backing out of my yard when this happened too me.again i ask the question if my car did thesame thing that the recall said it would do is it possible that there are other lumina's out there that this could happened too? and by the way why won't the dealer here let me have the recall bolts after this has happend to me instead of charging me for them? thanks. I was driving 25 to 30 mph when the carriage dropped out of the vehicle causing the steering to also be pulled out. The engine dropped approxamately 6 inches and the tie rods where also bent.

Cable that holds spare tire broke and rusted through, causing tire to fall, which could have resulted in an accident.
Brake line burst/seat back collapsed in rear end crash.
Sliding door will not open and the passenager side door will not open.please explain more in details.
Noticed the doors were defective. Doors can't be opened from the outside or inside on either driver's or passenger's sides. Will be taking vehicle to dealer to check.doors have failed again after repairs.

Back hatch does not have internal release, came off on consumer's hand. Dealer replaced hatch lock.out of warranty,will not fix other problems.

Rear seat belts anddriver's seat beltwill not retract. Dealer has been notified, and will not repair. Please provide further information.
Seat belt retractor will not retract back into position, will not hold occupant, causing loss of protection.
Seat belts come out and will not retract.dealer was contacted (alexander chevrolet), stated they would order a part. Finally, admitted that the part was discontinued, and cannot repair the seat belt.
The front driver's and passenger's side seat belt retractor stopped working .
The driver's side seatbelt system does not retract back into housing which wont protect the occupant in event of a crash.please provide further information.
Consumer suffered a whiplash at a slow rear end impact due to lack of head restraints on either of the two seats.

When applied, brake pedal locks up; does not engage brakes; happens very low speed; no warning; at same time, steering wheel locks up.

Left rear wheel would lock up when brakes are applied on wet road. Vehicle been to an independent repair shop on two occasions, andproblem still reoccurring. Have a appointment withdealer. Feel free to provide any further information.
Front brakes failed due to stress created by the release of the front brake hose bracket, resulting in loss of control/accident.

While driving 70 mph and without warning engine cradle bolt retainers broke off and releasedtransmission. Dealer has been notified; however ,was unable to remedy the problem.
The cradle boltsrusted and pulled through the frame.
This vehicle model year has an active recall,nhtsa # 97v058000. However chevrolet states that my vehicle falls outside the range of applicable vins, and will not perform the recall. This vehicle's rear cradle bolts pulled through the retainers, just as written in the recall notice. Luckily the operator was able to keep the vehicle under control and avoid an accident. (it was the only car on the road at the time). The contact owns a 1991 chevrolet lumina apv.while driving approximately 2 mph it became difficult to control the steering wheel. The contact stated that the steering wheel would spin around with no resistance; however, the vehicle would not move in any direction that the steering wheel was turned. The vehicle was turned off and towed to his residence. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that his vehicle was not included in nhtsa recall campaign id number 00v189000. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 143,000.
Sliding door came off track-had to drive inside of van exposed.tt
Driver's side door would not unlock from inside also right side door would not open from outside.both problems had been corrected.owner then notes that sliding door can't be opened from inside also back door lock fell off.notes of power lock failure.cause has not been determined.

The slidingdoor fell off onto the ground when trying to be opened. Please describe.
Consumer will provide vin# at later date. The doors of vehicle have pins that break in half. The driver and passenger side doors cannot be opened from the outside. The sliding door can not be opened from the inside. The pins have either fallen out or broken off. The doors began falling off and breaking in mid-july. All have broken off by august 19, 1998. Dealership says there is nothing they cando at this time.
Under normal operation rear tailgate handle just broke off.
1991 chevy lumina apv,while driving over not so smooth wisconsin streets the frame retainer rotted off of the mounting bolt causing the frame rail to drop down over 4 inches causing poor steering control. The vehicle was at this point unsafe to operate. Gm has a recall campaign for this however they refuse to honor it.
Bolts pulled though the washer on the rear frame mounts which caused the steering rod to disengage, resulting in loss of steering control. Please give any further detals.

Windshield wipers malfunction in heavy rain. Windshield wiper blades will get stuck inan upright position for about 10 seconds, then they would work. This maycause visibility problems,and couldresult ina crash.dealer cannot determine the problem.please provide further information.
