Replaced alternator.
When driving at higher speed car cut off sometimes can't cut back on .tt
Replaced distributor cap 4 times.
Brake lights stay on at all times.also, when consumer puts vehicle in parkbrake lights comes on.consumer has to unhookbattery so that lights won't run down the battery.
Replaced temperature sensor.
Replaced water pump.
Replaced thermostat.
There was sludge build up in the oil pan and none of the sensors went off and the engine froze up. Please describe.
Recall for engine mounts andwheelmounting service cracks. Never got recall.

Right front door failed to open from outside
Vehicle experienced an oil leak, consumer also states that the serpentine belt was replaced.
Vehicle was placed in the park position, key out of the ignition when the vehicle caught on fire in the engine compartment.the vehicle was totaled. Please provide other details.
Consumer was driving and the engine stop working dealer say the engine needs a rebuilt there was no warning .tt

While entering my driveway, the wire cable which attaches the spare tire broke, causing the spare tire to drop to the ground.this 1/8 inch wire cable is the only thing holding the spare in place.when it breaks, the wheel falls out on to the road.it did not cause a problem, since it happened at low speed, while entering my driveway.however, i would hate to be following a vehicle, at highway speed, if the same thing should happen.
Lighting from headlamps diminish while driving.after a while lights return to its resumed position. Problem is sporadic.
.snap-on fuel line connectors pulled apart, resulting in a fire.
First it started blowing fusesso i checked the fuel pump it worked fine i checked the wires the looked good so i thank that ithas to be the oil pressure sender/fuel pump switch
The first problem i have reported is that of faulty door latches.we have had the front seat passenger's-side door latch fixed three times.it detaches on the inside of the door, usually when the power door lock is clicked at the same time as someone is pulling on the door latch to get in or out of the vehicle.also, the rear hatch door latch broke and was replaced.it was cheaply made.now the sliding side door's latch seems to have broken, as we cannot exit the van using that door latch, but it will work on the outside.the other complaint i have submitted is that of the engine's "choking out"or a kind of "vapor lock" kind of problem.when the engine gets hot, and it is warm outside, i have a very difficult time restarting the engine and keeping it running.it is like it doesn't get enough gas or something.if i rev it up a lot, it eventually may fall into a suitable idle, and will operate.but during the revving process, it chokes out.i've had this problem for several years, but this spring i've noticed that it is much worse.mechanics are baffled.thank you for your help.
Consumer states that the latches and lock on all doors, except the passenger sidesliding door,will not unlock . The dealer has been notified.

Consumer states the rear cradle bolts snapped on both sides of automobile. Consumer states this was a recall in 1997 and she had it corrected. Now it has happened again.
Driver's side automatic recoil does not recoil back into position, causng loss of protection.
Consumer had replaced the brake system, including therotors/shoes, etc.she is complaining that when stepping on the brakes pedal, the brakes don't work properly. It is also impossible for the family to get inside or outside of the vehicle using the door handles.finally,the seat belts are not securing the passengers where a person had secured the seat with a screw driver.
After extending seat belt, retraction was weak; eventually, seat belt would suddenly not retract at all.for unknown reason(s), seat belt would again function normally for a time, then it would stop retracting again.
The passenger seat belt buckle wouldn't release had to cut it off .tt

Bolt on the bracket that holds the seat back up right broke; with no seat back, vehicle could not be driven without possibly causing accident.tt
There is a recal listed on this vehicle for this problem and we also received a recal notice from manifacturing.they now say there is no recall for this problem.the bolts apparently loosen and can break causing seat to fall back while driving.this is what happened to us.at least we were no moving when the seat/bolt broke.

Recall 99i003000. Dlr said vehicle has been fixed, and it was not under recall. Owner received notice in mail. Manufacturer saidthat records did not go back that far.

Received recall notice (#97vo58000) back in june.called the chevrolet dealer and was informed they had no parts.called other chevrolet dealers in area and none of them had parts to repair the problem.
While drivingconsumerlost control of steering wheel. Was forced to drive off the road, bolts broke off in frame area/steering. .
Consumerwas traveling about 45mph onhighwayand steering wheel gave out without prior warning.
We were at a stoplight and made a right turn and heard an awful clunk - we proceeded about 1/2 mile and tried to pull into our parking space and our steering wheel all of a sudden would only "spin around".we could not turn the car at all - we had to call a tow truck - had it towed across the street to our shop.this could have created a tragedy had it been out on the freeway.

A horrifying experience!the tilt-steering locking mechanism disengaged in a tight steering maneuver in heavy traffic. Locking mech. Then was totally inoperative. Steering wheel tilted up and down freely, and tilted slightly to left. Vehicle did respond to steering, but was very unsafe to drive. As a career reliability engineer/quality manager, i assess this as a life-threatening major failure that never should happen. Manufacturer's customer rep ignored my complaint on excuse that "vehicle is out of warranty." i paid highly for repair; yet chevy has a safety problem. Please do investigate this type failure.

The power steering is being affected because of heat. It causes the fluid not to get to the system. Please describe.tt

The rear cradle bolts snapped while the consumer was driving. The cradle bolts were on recall for rusting and breaking in other states but not in the consumer's state.
Recall 97 v 058 000/ rear cradle bolts:rear cradle bolts retainer failed on both sides, snappingsteering wheel column while driving, and causing loss of steering control. Believed thiswas due to corrision.dealer was notified, and unwilling to assist in this matter because this vehicle not covered under recall due to vin.

While driving 30-35 heard a noise.pulled over and checked under vehicle. Then,began to drive andwithout warningcolumn dropped off. General motors has recall on engine cradle bolts on the 1990 lumina passenger vehicle, but it does not apply to lumina mini-van.
Can anyone please tell me if this is a commonn ocurrance with this vehicle?? this vehicle has been in my possesion as a family car since 94 and been maintained there has been no previous body structure damage to this van any info. Cannot open driver's or passeger's side doors from the inside. Dealer can fix problem but owner is very concerned about this safety problem.

The outside door handle broke completely off, locking the consumer out of the vehicle.car had to be broken into from the passenger's side. Dealer has been contacted.

While changing front disc pads a piece of rubber was noticed hanging, further investigation found the rear subframe mount missing the washer and allowing a gap of aprox 1/2 inch between frame members, while looking through internet for imformation on filures ofthis part i found recall investigation 97v0058000 which discussed alleged subframe //insulator failure which resulted in recall 97v058000. The vechicle was purchased andoriginally registered in michigan which according to recall is the basis for the recall issued. Upon contacting numbers given for gm i was told that vechicle was not under recall, this does not seem correct, all gm stated was vechile was not under warrenty please advise

The cruise control on the vehicle has engaged by itself without the owner pressing the button.

Windshield wiper motor electrical connection does not stay in contact with motor to operate the washers or wiper motor.i tried wire tying it together,but that only lasts a couple of daysthanks, any help would be appreciated.
