I own a 2001 chevy impala & a 2001 chevy tahoe.i had clunking noises coming form the steering.i took the impala to the dealer, they said it was the steering shaft and that they've been having the same problem with many other customers.now i have the same steering/clunking noise with my tahoe.one of employees told me their on back order for the same part for up to a 3 month waiting period.so from my experience, two vehicles, the same company, the same problem.there's definitely a defect and i think there should be a recall a.s.a.p. For this steering shaft.
