The passenger side air bag ... If i have a passenger on front seatthe airbags goes off and light comes othe dash saying serviceairbag...now i haveno onein the car with me and airbag light is still on
Airbag light started coming on and going off randomly. It began becoming more frequent so i took it to ourisman chevrolet to get it checked out. I was told that the passenger seat occupancy sensor and airbag module were bad and needed to be replaced, and for $1979 they could repair it, imagine that. I let them know that if i had to put that kind of money in an airbag every 55,000 miles i would be looking at an airbag light for the next 10 years.
Front end crash & airbags did not deploy
I had an issue with the check engine light, car stalling, and changing gears slow. The chevy dealership stated that the purge valve was bad and replaced it on 7/3/20. My mom had the same issue with her chevy trax and a different dealership in a different city said that her purge valve was stuck open and replaced it. Also my airbag light is on now. I saw that tamara has recalls on certain vehicles but my chevy isn't listed.
My airbag light has been on nowroughly two months and sometimes i'm actually scared to drive the car hoping that it won't deploy while i'm driving but it's my only means of transportation to get back and forth to work.i have checked all fuses i have gotten someone to put a tester light on it to make sure the wires are not brokenand there is no problem with the fuses all the wires so i have no idea what the problem is and the car was stationary when it first came on
Good morning,i'm unsure of how often this is happening, but i believe it could be a safety issue, especially with the recent takata air bag issues.i had (but have since sold) a 2017 chevrolet impala that my husband was driving on july 4, 2018 when a warning light and sound on the dashboard indicated there was an issue with the air bag system.we also received an email from onstar that day indicating we should take the vehicle into the dealer by the next day.we took the vehicle to watson chevrolet in tucson that afternoon.the vehicle was diagnosed as having a faulty airbag sensor with an estimated cost of approximately $1100.00 which we would have to pay since our vehicle had over 36,000 miles on it.i work at a ford dealership and was told by our service manager that this sort of issue is covered by ford motor corp. Under their powertrain warranty.i don't know the reason for this, but i would guess it's because ford feels it would be a safety issue if repairs weren't made by a customer due to cost.we are fortunate enough to have been able to pay for the repairs, but i wonder how many vehicles are on the road that have had this issue but have gone unrepaired due to cost.i also wonder if there have been enough issues with the sensors to warrant a recall.thank you very much for your time.
Airbag light comes on for no reason

I keep getting a message "airbag service" and the light comes on and stays illuminated. I took the vehicle to malcolm cunningham chevrolet on 15 oct 2018. I was told that everything checked out fine and that there is no issue. I dont understand this because it has happened numerous times and i am concerned about my safety. This has happened when i start the vehicle and while i am driving i will get the message.
2017. Chevrolet impala. Consumer writes in regards to a malfunction with passenger side airbag. *ldthe consumer stated his wife is 4'11 and weighs 88 pounds. She uses a cushion to maintain front and side vision while seated in the front passenger seat. Because of this, the air bag does not detect her in the seat.the dealer advised there is no modification possible.
Airbag light comes on, on the passenger side when no one is sitting in the seat. The light comes on for service. The light would come on once i put the car in drive or once i put the vehicle in park. The first time the light would come on and go off but the second time the light stayed on.i took my car to the dealer twice and it was a bad sensor in the seat. It took a week to get the part from the manufacturer.
The airbag warning light comes on intermittently and at times remains illuminated while other times it is off. The light comes on randomly and does not always stay on.
The hmi module has gone out.this affects the rear view camera and the entire display.secondly, since then the power steering has also gone out on the car while in motion!! it went out suddenly. Brand new battery still not resolved. These problems are both electrical and seem to be now common problems. Gm should issue recall as this can cause major accident and loss of life. The absence of rear camera makes vehicle out of compliance with the laws stating that all later models should have camera. There is nothing that can cause these problems. It is simply a defect in the electrical system design. These problems cost thousands of dollars to fix and usually don't malfunction till after warranty has expired.
Nov 2018:center console / tv failure including back-up camera along with infotainment.occurred just after 36,000 miles, thus gm warranty did not cover and repair cost for hmi module = $732 though we do have a 3rd party ext. Warranty, we still paid $200+ out of pocket and feel it irresponsible for gm electronics to fail just 1 year after model year (as electronics normally should not relate to # miles) - should be a factory recall.repeated attempts to contact chevrolet senior support by phone to discuss situation went unanswered. During the time the console was out (but car still drive-able), we had reduced rear visibility and were more fearful about backing up, especially in areas with many children present.
On november 17th and 20th of 2018 while at mall parking lot and at drug store as i proceed to leave my car's battery had completely drained it's power. No lights or doors were left on and i had to get aaa to boost me on those two occasions. When i took the car back to the dealer they simply said they could not find anything wrong or locate the problem after keeping the car for a day. I purchased this car new september 2017 and has less than 12,000 miles as of today. What am i suppose to dojust keep going as if no problem exist? it is a good car and this is the first problem i've experienced but someone needs to take responsibility, no fun being stranded and technicians at dealership unable to locate problems.

Poor front low beam headlights light up the road only showing the bottom 40% of the windshield and poor lighting to the side of the road.the top 60% of the windshield as you look forward is darkthe headlights only show 3 possible 4 car lengths in front of the car.at 60 mph you should be able to see farther than over 6 car lengths ahead on low beams not 3 and not over 1/2 your visibility in the dark very unsafe.
Recently purchased this vehicle 3 months ago took it in for a routine oil change after driving it for several miles and filling the gas tank loud exhaust sound with an onstar diagnostic p0151 code appeared. Thinking there was water in the line i purchased heat to remove the moisture with no results. I proceeded to open the hood of the car for inspection and found the oxygen sensors lying in the cooling fans and the catalytic converter disconnected from the engine block. The plate was still connected with new nuts and bolts but the part looked rusted which seem odd for a car this new as a result of the heat escaping the engine block via the opening the cooling fans melted. I check for recalls on this model and there were none showing via several sources including the manufacturer's web site. The issue could have caused severe damage to the engine and electrical systems well due to the high temperatures from the engine block under the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle will operate and drive in this condition showing a check engine light on the instrument panel. What seemed odd was the bolts were shiny and the plate was discolored as seen in attached photos. The welds were also a concern as well.
Vehicle was condo parking area in spi texas and lowell,in.mice chewed fuel ijection harness (disabling(3 cyl) on feb.10,2018 and again 10 days laterharness ( 4cyl) and foam intake manifold. All soybean based wires and foam.both repaired at gillman chevy in harligen ,tx. Then on 6/21/2018 there was an extreme safety event with rodent damage to soy based fuel line elbow on top of fuel tank that pumped out 8 gallons of gas on top of hot exhaust system with the potential of fire in rear of car in 10 miles of travel from hebron,in to lowell,in. The fuel pump shutoff for run away fuel pump never deployed thus creating extreme hazard that was undectable inside vehicle.the fuel line was repaired by smith chevy in lowell, in on 6/21/2018.the repair bills were $731.50, $592.10 and $507.17 respectively for a total of $1830.72.chevy claims soy based parts not design flaw and refuses warranty claims and safety liability.. All manufactures have similar soy based design flaws and refuse claims. Problem needs to beaddressedand solved.

The technician could not guarantee that the failure would not recur, stating that the vehicle performed as designed. My 2017 chevy impala's, equipped with a 3.6l v-6 engine, air conditioning evaporator is damaged and is leaking refrigerant and resulting in loss of air conditioning. This loss of air conditioning occurs all the time-stationary, in motion--the air conditioning no longer works at all.
Starting in march 2019 the 2017 chevy impala engine would stop and wouldn't start back up for at least 30 minutes.it would happen when i stop at a stop sign or light or whenever i stop the vehicle.then in july of 2019 the vehicle stopped in the middle of the street.it wouldn't reverse or go forward. It was identified as a transmission leak. All the transmission oil had leaked out.took the vehicle to several repair shops which they couldn't identify the problem.my transmission is damaged by now. A 2017 chevy impala should not have transmission problems unless there is some type of defect.
Brought my car in for routine oil change. Informed dealership of loud exhaust sound. Asked if they could check fo an exhaust leak. Upon picking up my vehicle i was informed the loud exhaust was due to a crack in the catalytic converter. I asked what would cause this to happen.they were unsure of cause it is not a normal issue for the mileage and age of vehicle. They did provideme with a quote to repair. I took my car to a different repair shop and they were concerned that this part was faulty from the manufacturer. They informed me that a recall could be possible and advised me to contact gm.

The contact then stated that while driving at 50 mph, he had heard a loud noise emit from the engine without warning. The contact then pulled off to the shoulder and upon inspection of the hood, the contact discovered the catalytic converter had broken off the engine. The contact was able to slowly drive the vehicle home and then called el dorado chevrolet(2300 n central expy, mckinney, tx 75070) where he was informed him that there were zero recalls on the vehicle; the contact was informed to bring in the vehicle for inspection. Upon investigation, the contact discovered a technical service bulletin nhtsa id number:10116660 which he linked to his failure. Recently, the contact's wife was diagnosed with lung cancer and the contact had linked the prolonged exposure to the exhaust odor as the possible cause of the diagnosis. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I purchased a 2017 chevrolet impala vehicle in march of 2019 and a few month's after purchasing the vehicle i immediately started noticing that the vehicle wold stall and or hesitate to start every time i would put gas in it. I currently work at carmax and after speaking with some mechanic's, as well asas reading some of the other complaint's i believe i am experiencing the same problem as 2 other buyer's that have previously filed a complaint regarding this vehicle.the spark plug tubes are leaking and the leaks are caused by porous spots in the head created during manufacturing. The spark plug tubes are permanently sealed into the head and are not replaceable. This is a manufacturing problem that needs to be taken care of immediately. We just purchased this vehicle and i am being told that this repair is going to cost $3,000-$4,000 to fix, which i am not responsible for. I should be able to have this fixed by the manufacturer, i should'nt have to pay for this repair considering the vehicle was literally purchased a year ago as of 3 weeks ago. And the problem happened 3 months into me having the vehicle
Increasing ticking noise from engine. Started about 6 months ago and noise getting louder. Per bale chevrolet, it is coming from purge valve and valve is operating as normal. I don't feel this is normal, especially since it wasn't doing it when we purchased it.

So then in december we took it to the chevy dealership andthey fixed the purge valve, and also checked why the check engine light was on. They ran some tests and said that cylinder 3 was misfiring, so they ran more tests to see what exactly the problem was. The failure made it impossible to see more than five feet in front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and repaired. The headlights were adjusted higher; however, the lights still failed to illuminate at a distance in front of the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. Headlights do not light up the road on right side, cannot see road, curbs or pedestrians when turning.projection system, dealer says nothing wrong, very dangerous at night especially in the rain. They need to fix projection system to cover right side of vehicle. Many complaints on the web regarding this issue.

In motion:unknown:while driving on an interstate, speed 74 set by cruise control, the car jerked like it was going into passing mode and made a horrific sound. The interstate we were on in mississippi was on a flat road. My husband and i thought the rear end had come out or it was about to blow up.
Transmission failure of my 2017 chevy imapla lt while driving on interstate on 9/26/20.i have 164,000 on the vehicle and according to vehiclereports.com the lifetime expectancy of these types of vehicles are only 160,000. The torque converter inside on the transmission are known for failing and costing many customers such as myself tons in repair costs.there are many consumer complaintsonline of the bad shifting in 1st and 2nd gear on these vehicles. The transmission jerked so bad repeatedly until it caused headaches.

When driving up hill at low speed a rough cluck occurs when gear changes take place between 2nd to 1st gear.
The both rear seat crossbody seatbelts clink the way roller coasters do when going up an incline and just get stuck and beging to tighten. The only way to loosen the belt is to take it completely off and let it wind up all the way before fastening it again. This happens regardless the car is on or off, moving or stopped, highway and city driving. This has been happening for the past couple months.

Rented a 2017 chevy impala for a 10 day 3000 mile road trip.i did the driving and my wife, 5' 1", spent the trip in the passenger seat. Due to the extreme forward position of the headrest and lack of headrest adjustment she was miserable the whole trip. I had been planing on buying that exact car, not now. I'll buy a used car with headrests that make sense, the ones on the new cars don't.
My car was parked in a home driveway, some how jumped out of park and started to roll into the street. No one was in the driver seat to cause this to happen.

The absence of rear camera makes vehicle out of compliance with the laws stating that all later models should have camera. There is nothing that can cause these problems. It is simply a defect in the electrical system design. These problems cost thousands of dollars to fix and usually don't malfunction till after warranty has expired.

Front end suspension is making noises, ball joints and driver side axle loose. Was told all this has to be replaced.

Sun roof exploded while driving northbound at highway speed (70 mph) on interstate 84 enroute to butte, mt. In rural idaho; 1766 miles on new 2017 impala premiere vehicle at approximate 3:45 pm mdt. No other cars around, no where near overpass, sounded like gunshot in car. Outside air temp around 75 degrees. No evidence of any rocks or projectiles. Some glass chards found on trunk.internal cloth cover was closed or glass could have seriously injured driver and passenger. Glass chards were captured and retained by cloth cover but fine pieces came through fine mesh holes.took vehicle to local chevrolet dealer (butte gm) and was advised this was not a warranty item as no such occurances have been reported to date. Have contacted gm customer service and am awaiting disposition.
The warning system on the driver car does not always wor.will not tell me if backing up if something is coming towards me from the left side and the indicator on the driver mirroe does not always work if a car is approaching me.i have 63000 miles on the car and i think its a safty issue and a factory defect.
The fonts are too small on all of the control screens, the infotainment screen and on the various buttons on the dashboard.many people have to take their eyes off the road for too long to read the writing and symbols.there is plenty of unused background on the screens and buttons where the fonts could be enlarged.or, perhaps a feature could be designed where the driver could increase the size of thefonts as needed.
My vehicle was taken during a investigation and the person that took it died , and trying to locate it but for some reason it has 2 locations 1 in chandler and the other in kansas . Is there anyway you could help me locate it?
The air conditioning evaporator is leaking under normal use. I was told my vin number is not included with a special gm coverage adjustment n182186881. My car has the same problem as the special coverage adjustment. I did take the car to a dealer who installed a dye and recharged the system to determine where the a/c leak is.
The passenger side blind side detector system stays on permanently.
Gm special coverage adjustment n182186881 covers the evaporator core icing, leak.my vehicle is in the covered make, model, year, rpo, ending type, mileage and age to qualify for this coverage.gm refuses coverage saying that the coverage is vin specific.the senior agent donovan at ((800) 543-5562, extension 5915982 says there is no appeal process or anything we can do to discuss the issue.
Evaporator core needs replacing,broke while driving breathing in dangerous fumes
While i was driving the car a whit cloud of smoke filled the interior of the car making the vision very burry. I parked my car for 2 days before the mechanic could look at it. He reported that the a/c evaporator core ruptured and leaking feron inside the car.
Closed the driver door on car, heard a what sounded like an explosion from over head. Discovered that rear sunroof panel had exploded, glass pieces had fallen onto sliding visor panel.had been sitting stationary in the sun.i took it to the dealer. Without question they said it was a warranty item (car 2 months old). Was told by dealership personnel that this was the second exploded panel they have seen this week on a gm vehicle. While driving to the dealership, glass shards flew off the roof scratching the rear deck painted surface.
The car shut down completely on me three times while driving it, once an a residential street and twice on a busy highway. This is so dangerous. I had to wait 5-10 minutes each time before it would restart.
The left side warning system does not work or works less the 10% of the time. Will not tell me if i am in reverse if an object is coming from left side and will not tell me if a car is approaching me on left side either,
Evaporator core for air conditioning leaking. It was confirmed ata chevy dealership. Dealership quoted an estimated repair price. I decided to go with another repair shop. The third party repair shop made me aware of a special bulletin on my vehicle(n182186881). Thechevy dealership states they do not know of any special bulletin or recall. There they will not make the repair at chevy's cost.
A/c evaporator core leaks all the refrigerant, leave a big spot of refrigeranton my driveway after we did return for a short trip, the cost is too high to replace it and i think we deserve full coverage of parts and labor, i have been a gm customer all my lifeand this is the first time that one of our vehicles shows this type of problem. Air condition quit blowing cold air. Took it to the place where i bought the vehicle. They performed a dye test and found that dye was coming from ac drain from fire wall. Verified refrigerant leaking from evaporator. Judging from other complaints on here, i believe that the repairs should be fully paid for.

I noticed the car's (2017 chevrolet impala) a/c was blowing hot air while stationary and in motion. I took it in for an a/c check.per the chevrolet dealership's service advisor, there is an evaporator core leak into dashboard.gm has released two special overage bulletins (n182186880 & n182186881) identifying the issue and the year, make, and model (2016-2018 impalas 3.6).also, per this bulletin, it stated it identified the vins this impacted, but i have the same issue and car.it does not state why some impalas were not selected.but different forums on the internet, show there are more impalas and their owners who have this same issue. This is a safety issue especially during the summer months.
Re:car randomly lunges forward while slowing to a stop.this does not occur every time i come to a stop.it is an unexpected event that happens from time to time while slowing for a stop sign, stop light or just to stop period that this car seems to lunge forward like i'm accelerating which i do then the gears adjust down but only when applying more pressure on breaking.there have been a few times since i have had this car where i almost ran into the back of the car in front of me due to this.
Nov 2018:center console / tv failure including back-up camera along with infotainment.occurred just after 36,000 miles, thus gm warranty did not cover and repair cost for hmi module = $732 though we do have a 3rd party ext. Warranty, we still paid $200+ out of pocket and feel it irresponsible for gm electronics to fail just 1 year after model year (as electronics normally should not relate to # miles) - should be a factory recall.repeated attempts to contact chevrolet senior support by phone to discuss situation went unanswered. During the time the console was out (but car still drive-able), we had reduced rear visibility and were more fearful about backing up, especially in areas with many children present.
Poor front low beam headlights light up the road only showing the bottom 40% of the windshield and poor lighting to the side of the road.the top 60% of the windshield as you look forward is darkthe headlights only show 3 possible 4 car lengths in front of the car.at 60 mph you should be able to see farther than over 6 car lengths ahead on low beams not 3 and not over 1/2 your visibility in the dark very unsafe.

Rented an alamo rental car at the dfw airport on 12/23/16. . left rear wheel came off vehicle while driving straight at highway speed on texas hwy 36 causing the car to loose control and spin off the road.
