Emc fuses blown / fuel pump failure...currenty 3 of our 15 chevroletrental vans have experienced blown emc fuses, causing the vehicle to stall. After troubleshooting & replacing the recommended fuse, we continued to have problems. Each time we turned on the ignition another blown fuse! we then removed the gas tank & inspected the fuel pump. What was found the first time, was acceptable. But finding the same problem on another 2 vans has got us worried. The "black" and "gray" wire fused themselves together while inside the gas tank! could this be a fire/explosion potential? what if a higher amp fuse was used in combination with a the fuel tank that was less than full..
Consumer states an ongoing/intermittent problem with engine stalling upon starting. Vehicle has been to the dealer on two occasions and the problem is reoccurring for the third time. Dealer notified.consumer states dealer replaced ignition, no stalling has occurred as of yet.*yd

This relates to ea06-016. I own a 2001 chevrolet 3500 ,engine defect has not been repaired as of this date. Thevehicle started to stall as described in the defect report of july of 2006. I have in my possession 6 work orders from bringing the vehicle to my local chevrolet dealer-whiteman chevrolet in glens falls ny to diagnose and repair thestall/start problem. The oldest work orderwas dated 8/15/06 and the most recent on 3/23/07. I have asked for them to check service bulletins and with gm's maintenance help department. About this problem. So far they have not been able to diagnose or repair the problem because my stall/crank problem does not produce a code to trigger the service warning light in the vehicle. And they have told me that gm has no service bulletin or any information on this issue? my problem seems to be exactly what is described in this preliminary investigation, vehicle will stall while driving and will crank without starting. This happens on an intermittent but regular basis, just not when the dealership has the vehicle in its service dept. The incident date listed below in the approximate date and mileage when incident first occurred. The number of failures listed is just a guess, too many to really recall. Just wanted to indicate that it is not a one time only incident. This vehicle is used in as a work vehicle and makes short trips, used seasonally-not in the winter months.

2001 chevrolet express van has been towed into dealership twice, first at 4.833 miles and then at 13,833 miles due to engine running rough and stalling while traveling on highway.first occurence, dealer stated there was a technical service bulletin concerning this problem due to an a/c line routed too close to the distributor causing moisture to collect in distributor.on second tow, dealer stated the bulletin did not apply to this vehicle but once again the distributor cap was replaced due to moisture build up.numerous e-mails and phone calls to chevrolet/gm in an effort to have someone try and determine the cause of problem have yielded no results.manufacturer and dealership have both stated that there is nothing more that can be done.vehicle was towed to same dealership on both occasions.vehicle has approximately 15,000 miles now.

A chevrolet express/explorer limited se caused serious issues on the highway for me and 4 other drivers (that i witnessed)..brake lights are so high off the ground, they are not detectable!i almost slamed into the back of this van 5 times before i could get around it.i could not tell when the van was slowing or stopping.this is a serious misjudgment in engineering.those lights are easily 4 foot about the height of an 18 wheelers.no one is accustom to looking that high up for brake lights.

On friday january 29th 2010 i was involved in an accident. I rear ended a suv. My 2001 chevrolet express van would not stop due to anti lock brake failure. When i applied the brakes the anti lock system took over and the brake pedal went to the floor. My vehicle continued forward never slowing down until i struck the vehicle ahead of me.i would have been able to stop if the anti lock brakes had not taken over my vehicle. I had a more than a five second space between the vehicle in front of me.
When the brakes were applied, the vehicle experienced extended stopping distance.
I have a 2001 chevrolet express conversion van that has been nothing but grief since i bought it. It has already gone through 3 sets of brakeswe have complained since day one about the braking problems with the van.my husband had an accident due to brake failure on the way to the dealership when he first bought the van.it seems when you due conversions on these vans you are adding almost 2000 pounds to the original weight but they never upgrade the brakes to accommodate the additional weight and the brakes wear out faster and the van is harder to stop. Made complaints to gmthey said go to the dealerthe dealer said nothing was wrong or stated the conversion company was at fault vicious run around and nothing got accomplished we are waiting to get into court because we refused to pay for new brakes after we were told there was nothing wrong until the warranty ran out and they charged us $600 for brakes . The gear box fell out of the van the first day we bought it.there were other problems too gm does not stand by their products nor do they upgrade parts to accommodate any added weight or changes to the original body or engine.

The valve stems on three of my tires were malfunctioning due to improper design of the stems.the problem only occurs at highway speeds.at 70 mph i was loosing as much as 15 psi of air in only 10 miles.the air was leaking around the outside of the valve stems because of their improper design.this problem is very dangerous because there is no indication that it is occuring until the tire(s) goes flat, which, if it occurs at highway speed, could easily result in an accident.i was lucky and saw that my tires were almost flat when i stopped for gas.the improperly designed valve stem has the following lettering on it: schrader usa tr 600 hp 150.

Mirrors shake so badly that no image can be identified above 50 mph. Very dangerous on interstates. Dealer technician says "this is the single most frequent complaint about these vans since introduction in 1996. Replacement often fails to improve condition. This is a design failure." if true this should be the basis for a recall and re-design.

The company i work for recently purchased a new work van for me to use. Upon my first day of driving i realized that i had a problem with the tinted strip in the windshield. I am a tall person and when sitting in the seat my line of vision is thru this tinted strip. At night i noticed that my distance of vision is very limitied, even in daylight hours. I have checked with several auto glass dealers and they all sayi can't get this windshield without the tinted strip. I have talked to the dealer and to gm customer assistance and they tell me the same thing. They would not help me in finding if i could get a special order on a clear windshield. I am looking for a windshield manufacturer that could make me one special order. Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated.
