While driving 15 mph, both frontal air bags went off inadvertently. Consumerwas able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic wasnot able to determine the cause of the problem. Consumer informed the mechanic that this problem occurred twice.

Air bag light is on on dashboard. Chevrolet had installed the airbag sensor on the floor under the drivers seat in a work vehicle chevy 3500 express. Any moisture causes the sensor to corrode requiring replacement. I have communicated with numerous other owners who have had to pay chevy $1,000 to move the sensor under the dash. Why would you place a sensitive part on the floor in a vehicle where moisture can easily intrude. This is dangerous and could cause air bag malfunctions.

The dashboard caught on fire. Due to electrical system failure.

While driving and or parking, it was difficult for the consumer to roll the windows up or down on the driver's side. The part was replaced three times.the window would only move about 1/4 an inch every minute or so intermittently.it was difficult to open roll down the window when going trough the toll booth.when the window was rolled down, it would take about 5-8 minutes to get it back up.gm suggested that this was normal.other problems were:the right cargo door panels rubbed together and made noise, the seat belt light did not come on at times, there was a "whirring" noise when the vehicle was driven at 35 mph, the bar on the driver's side door did not have enough space for the consumer's hand to use it, the door locks would click when the vehicle was in motion, the mirror switch would work with the key in the off position, the left front window would stick at times, there was a clunk sound when the vehicle was placed in reverse at times, the right rear light was sometimes not bright enough, and the spring on the gas pedal broke. *sc

Consumer's new 2000vehicle,which has a rv on a chevrolet chassis, engine stalls out at will in the heat.had several close calls, vehicle just died.vehicle starts again in a few second, but continues to die until outside temprature drops below 100.the problem is the ignition control module is too close to the engine.

We purchased a chevrolet express van brand new in august 2000, and from day one we have had problems with it. The first thing to go wrong with it was the mirrors would shake when the van would go up on the highway doing 55 mph. We brought it back to the dealer who fixet the problem, but to this day it still exists. The next thing is the passanger side rear door will squeak and get stuck when you try to open/close it. The next thing to go wrong with it is the tires. The treads wore off and the steel belts started to show through, also we have brought the van to have new tires put on and the mechanic could not get the back lugs off of the van .the next thing to go wrong is the drivers side window switch let go in september of last year in the down position. We had to replace this part which cost us over $100 dollars. This new part is now starting to let go on us too. The next thing to let go now is the water pump. We brought it to a mechanic who said that if we wanted us to heve him fix it that it would cost us $380 (part and labor) this is money that i do not have. This is a van that was bought out of my sons trust fund,he has cerebral palsy.

Nar 1/15/2003. The consumer stated the vehicle had an intermittent deceleration problem.at times, there was no engine hold back when the gas pedal was released, at other times, the deceleration was good when the pedal was released. There was a good hold back when going down a hill with the cruise control set, but if it was not set, the vehicle appeared to be in free wheeling mode, which allowed the vehicle to pick up an excessive amount of speed.the operation of the vehicle happens for no apparent reasonand sometimes the mode lasted for several months .the dealer attributed the change as the coast mode of the transmission.

Transmission started to slip when changing gears.the transmission only had 39000 miles on it.i took the van into taylor chev. And was told that they needed me to authorize $1000 in labor costs for diagnostics.i contacted gmc to explain that i felt that they should pickup a all or a portion of the cost.gmc told me that they don't show any records that routine maintenance had been preformed because it was done by an outside source and "that doesn't count".i picked up my van and took it to a transmission shop where i was informed that this is a common problem with the 4l60e transmission.the bearing is not hardened properly and is designed to last for about 40000 miles.the total cost out of my pocket for shabby workmanship on gmc's part was $1678.00, which is about $1500.00 less that the dealer told me it was going to cost.i would like to see something done about this.

1st time seat broke was covered under warranty. 2nd was on me, mileage over 60000. The bracket that holds the seat is like 4 thin washers, 1st time 2 brake, dealer replaced. Less than 6 months later, they all broke. I had to wire the seat in place to stop from coming completely off. Can't use the 6 way power at all, for fear of something else coming off or braking. I would guess that there other full size vans out there that have the same problem. The dealer might say its on the conversion company, but it wasn't in my case. Driver's side power seat continued to fail. The part was replaced three times.however the problem recurred.

The rear brackets on the driver's power seat adjuster assembly completely broke. The whole seat now pivots forward on the front brackets. We brought it to the attention of our local gm service center and were told it would cost nearly $900 to repair. We feel this is a safety issue and would like your help in identifying the history of this type of failure. What steps should be taken with the manufacturer to have them repair this at their expense?

My wife was sitting in the driver seat of the van. The van was parked. Her leg made contact with the power seat control moving the seat forward and trapping her in the vehicle with her knee stuck under the dashboard. The seat would not return to it's original position and there is no release mechanism other than the power control knob. The seat was installed by mark iii conversion vans and sold as new by the d & c chevrolet gm dealer.

Dt: the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet express. The drivers seat is broken. Two days ago i realized that the brackets that hold the seat inbroke. The manufacturer needs to make the bracket bigger so that the seat does not push back or forward.

1 of many issues with this van. 62000 miles. Rear brake line blew, luckily in my driveway. Upon inspection all the lines in the rear need replaced. Funny thing is the bottomside of the van is as clean as can be. I bought this van 2 years old with 24000 miles, i'm extremely picky about my vehicles and am a maintenance nut. Always garaged, waxed numerous time a year, synthetic fluids..... Here is a list of what i remember has gone wrong with this van. Intake gaskets, twice. Front bumper reinforcement rotted out 40,000 miles, rear chrome bumper rotted 40,000 miles, ac line corroded thru, transmission grenaded at 42,000 mile(sun shield failure?), left window motor has dead spot in it from day 1.remember this is a very well maintained, always garaged, mainly driven for vacations. Gm is well aware of all these issues and wouldn't help on any.

I own 2000 chevy express 2500 passenger van. I bought the van new from the dealer and within two years the side door hinges had seized up. This resulted in the inside door trim panels breaking as the passengers in the rear tried to close the doors. I took the vehicle back to the dealer and their way of correcting the problem was to hammer out the hinge pins and replace them with new ones. Within one year the same problem occurred and has persisted. There is no way to lubricate the hinges to allow for the doors to open and close easily. I recently took the vanback to the dealer and the new way to fix the problem is to cut off the old hinges and weld new ones on. The parts department even has "hinge replacement" packages set up because the problem is so common. The new fix is estimated at over $1,700.00. This does not even include the replacement costs of the inside door trim panels that are still broken. (if the door is closed too hard the door panels overlap and stick making it impossible to open the door from the inside. We have to carry a straight screwdriver in the van at all times just to get the door panels unstuck). This is obviously a problem that gm was and is still fully aware of and yet no recall has been issued for the hinges to be replaced at their cost. The faulty hinges make the passenger van worthless and an extreme safety hazard for any owner.

Driving i-10 between pheonix and blythe at early night.right rear tire blewout with no warning at 75 mph. (tiresize: p215/75r15)

This van has a slow down mode that varies.when reached at a steady 55mph the gas pedal was released and it took 1 mile to slow to 35mph. Also noticed that on the highway when going downhill the van felt like it was free wheeling with no engine hold back. If the cruise control was set the van would maintain the same set speed up and downhill with noticeable engine hold back downhill.it may operate in one mode for many days before it changes to the other.two chevrolet dealers said this was normal.at times if i remove my foot from the pedal at 30mph the van will maintain that speed for 2 blocks.

Van fails to decelerate when accelerator pedal is released making it difficult to stop in an appropriate distance. Very unsafe in winter driving conditions. Also accelerates on its own to approx. 10mph from a dead stop.

Purchased 4 new autoguard (bct) lt 225-75r16 tires, on clearance from wm in july 2017. Installed all 4 on rear of a 29' 2000 forest river sunseeker a week later, prior to our family summer road trip in july 2017. After approx. Only 5000 miles of usage, the right rear int. Tire had a catastrophic failure on july 31 2019 while travelling at about 55mph, up an incline, just before exit 145 on interstate 81 south, near hazelton pennsilvania 18249. This caused damage to other rr tire, rv wheelwell, rv holding tanks andrv electrical. Replaced both rr tires at a local shop, inflated all 4 to 75psi. Believing it was a one off, counted our blessings continued south on i-81 on our summer road trip to the obx. On our return, approx 1000 miles later, i noticed an increasing rough vibration from the left rear side this time. Vibrations increased while driving on the interstate over 50mph. I checked the tire pressure of all 4 rear tires several times. They were all still at 75psi (max 80 psi dual). I made 5 stops at several rig repair and smaller tire retailers over 2 states requesting to check the lr wheel balancing of the rv, believing i had lost some wheel leads. Not one would take a 29' class c in to check the cause of the vibration. Limped back slowly for 300 miles, returned to the same tire dealer on august 16 2019 who discovered that both left rear tires were not roadworthy, one was excessively worn, deformed, had interiour bulging and interior blistering and apparent tread separation. From the tire radial! 4 technicians had never seen such prematures deformaties. They believed it would blow if they tried to reinflate it. I took pictures and videos and kept the tires as evidence.i purchased 2 more tires of the same make and size. Observations: 2 out 4 tires were significantly worn out from normal use.miles driven was between 5-6k miles. Tiredot oj 20xb2 1113 0413 0413

General grabber hts belt slipped while traveling at normal highway speeds on aug 23, 2020. This is the 5th tire failure (slipped belt) or this exact tire for this vehicle. This tire had 6,721 miles on it. General has a major problem with their 10 ply tires. Were it not for my understanding of how to detect a slipped belt, a severe accident could have occurred! nhsta should perform a thorough investigation; as an engineer with excellent documentation, i could contribute valuable data.
