Service airbag warning light stays on.
My 2016 corvette with 13000 + miles has been in the shop with the ' service rear axle light ' on despite several attempts to fix it. After several trips to the service departmentthey have been unsuccessful. This past week, i was notified by(service supervisor) that they have exhausted all efforts in the attempt to fix my car. I now have to wait for an engineer to be dispatched physically to look into this issue . According to service supervisor , this can take several weeks.i have looked at the internet and have found several corvette owners having/ experiencing the same problem. Is gm looking into this ? does gm know what the problem is so they can share it here locally ? why cant my local dealership fix my problem despite working with gm engineers? what are my options? this light seems to come on on first starts or after being off for hours.
Veh purchased 9/2015 and so far i have replace four rear rims and one front. All have hair line cracks on the inside of rim causing radical air loss, vibration and tire wear. Navigation screen flickers and goes on and off at least two times a week and i have to open and close to restart screen. Blower motor went out at 37k miles and the transmission is bucking, vibrating, shuddering and going into 5th gear at 31mph and feels like it is hanging up in 5th gear the clunks down to first at 10mph. Went to dealer, they claimed they did a software up date and things are fine. Left the dealership and came back 5 min later with same issue. Took service manager for a ride and he confirmed the horrible ride. Have to take back on tuesday 5/28 and it feels like the drive shaft or rear end will fall out. They said it was fine. I hope nothing happens to me or the car.
Car overheating when used in high performance driving, alarm sounds and goes into limp mode.happens within 10 miles of 30 rapid accelerations.
It has a strong smell of gas and is leaking from the top of the fuel tank. Strong smell of gas when parked in garage and also when driving and stopped. This has been happening for a while but has gotten worse.

Gas smell after filling tank
Second 2016 corvette, first one gm took back. Now second corvette with same issue. Gas leaking from under car!
2nd gas leak to 2016 z51 corvette with 1800 miles.dealer replace gas tank because of a gas leak.the odometer registered about 1300 miles.about 500 miles later (1,800 miles on the odometer) the car once again experienced a gas leak at the tank.this is a dangerous situation since the gas could leak upon the hot tailpipe or muffler. Replacing the gas tank is a major endeavor requiring the complete disassemble of the rear drivetrain.
Fuel leak in the area of the fuel tanks
Automatic locking fuel door made heavy whirring noises. Fuel door/cap is locked and no refueling is possible. Vehicle is parked.no driving problem until fuel is exhausted then a useless vehicle.
This issue is very serious. Fuel leaks out the top of the tanks, and will then drip down the back side. It happens whether running or not.
I bought the car on 9/8/16. I smelled gas as it sat idling at dealership ( rick hendricks of buford ga. ) and thought it was just fumes. I got home and parked it, 1/2 tank. I did not smell gas then. I left for week long trip and returned on 9/15/16. I filled the car to drive and went to a meeting that night. A friend was checking his car after i parked next to him saying he smelled gas. I told him i had after i filled mine. I has a puddle under me car as large as a semi truck tire. The next day i took it to glenn smith chev in opelika al. They still have car and have ordered the left side tank to replace. Car has around 335 miles on it. I am waiting to get my car back.
Gas leak when the tank is filled.
Strong fuel leak smell when parked in the garage
Received a letter with the following from gm. "this letter is intended to make you aware that some 2016 model year chevrolet corvette vehicles may have a condition where cracks on the top surface of the left fuel tank pump module flange, may cause fuel odor, or a loss of fuel on the ground. A check engine light may illuminate if the fuel tank is less than half full."gm recall 17469 . To me due to possible safety issues this should be a mandatory recall.please assist.
I want to know why this gas leaking at the fuel pump is not a mandatory recall?https://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/tech/knowledgebase/file.php?id=143
Bad smell of gas in gararge when car is parked in there.

I have a '16 corvette z-51 w/8-speed auto trans.ordered car brand new in april 2015 - took possession in sept. 2015.car turned 6,000 miles in april 2021. On a drive recently, rear end began to experience a shudder/ vibration between 50-65 mph like driving over small rumble strips.internet research resulted in me finding the existence of service bulletin no. 18-na-355, dated february 2019 and an updated bulletin with same number dated april, 2020. Problem is a known problem for a host of gm vehicles from 2015-19 with the gm 8l45 and 8l90 8-speed automatic transmissions.apparently the wrong fluid was installed in these transmissions. Reference attached bulletin 18-na-355.took car to dealer the following monday and it was diagnosed as having the stated transmission shudder problem as outlined in service bulletin. Because my car is out of factory warranty by 6-months and gm extended warranty won't cover for this expense, i was left to pay the $650 to correct a known issue. Why must owners pay for gm's error?attached bulletin explains the steps taken to correct the problem, involving 3 flushes and installing new/ different type of transmission fluid - new part number 19417577.time will tell if this so-called fix works. Internet auto forums indicate some folks have had to return to the gm dealer more than once for this problem, after the flush procedure.contacted gm and logged formal complaint -- with no response and basically nothing but a run around thus far. As a consumer who paid good money for a high end performance vehicle would it not have been good business practice to notify customers of a pending problem rather than remain silent about the problem, let vehicle warranty run out, then tell customers it's their problem?poor customer satisfaction policy no doubt!gm should be forced to own up to this problem and pay for the repair.
Known issues with a sub standard torgue coverter causing a shudder and jerky motion the car starts demonstrating accompanied by fluctuating engine rpms.this corvette is equipped with a 8i90 8 speed automatic transmission.its especially noticeable when cruising at highway speed with the cruise control engaged, however it displays this problem whether the cruise control is engaged or not.this issue seems to have affected about 20,000 corvettes until about the end of october 2016 production dates. Internet research shows tha this is a wide spread problem and there should be a recall on these vehicles that requires gm to replaces the transmission and torque converter
Since 2014 c7 models of corvette have torque tube failures.its a coupling at the end of the driveshaft attaching to the differential. Chevy tried a fix in model 2015 that failed.it continues to fail and there are no parts available to do the repair.my 2016 just failed but there are cars that fail multiple times since the part have not been redesigned.part failure results in damage to the differential, drive shaft and transmission.repair exceeds $6000 and chevy will not repair if out of warranty.please see google and other corvette forum complaints.this is ongoing with no resolution
While attempting to accelerate or decelerate my car i feel a hesitation, followed by a significant shudder when the vehicle's automatic transmission changes gears.the shudder, shake and hesitation also occurs while my vehicle accelerates in a single gear, and not actively shifting gears. The problem does not merely result in an uncomfortable driving condition. The shuddering and hesitation seem to be related to internal issues within the transmission and/or torque converter causing friction surfaces, hydraulic systems, and gears to not function properly.there is possibly permanent damage that will occur to the transmission and/or torque converter over time. I face escalating repairs that can include flushing the transmission of metal shavings caused by the defective transmission operation, and which eventually necessitate the replacement of components such as the torque converter, valve body, or the entire transmission. As such, the transmission defect endangers the drivers and passengers of the vehicles, and diminishes the value of the vehicles.gm's deliberate non-disclosure of these defects artificially inflated the purchase and lease price for these vehicles.gm has known about the transmission defect for years, since right after introduction of the transmission. Since 2015, gm has issued thirteen versions of a 'technical service bulletin,' or 'tsb,' related to this shifting issue alone.the tsbs related to the transmission issue have advised dealerships to, among other things: complete the 'clutch drive learn procedure,' replace the valve body, replace the entire transmission, flush the cooler lines and cooler, remove debris from and clean the transmission pan, replace the transmission filter, replace the transmission fluid, and flush the transmission.to date, none of gm recommended solutions has resolved the problem.
The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet corvette. While driving 50 mph, the clutch failed without warning and traveled to the floorboard. The pedal failed to rise back in position. The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet corvette. While driving approximately 45 mph, the steering wheel lost power and the "power steering needs service" message illuminated. The contact called and scheduled an appointment for diagnostic testing with grabiak chevrolet (8282 us-22, new alexandria, pa 15670, 724-668-2231). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure mileage was approximately 900.
The rear tail light bezels on my 2016 chevrolet corvette stingray are not bolted down, they snap in/out. This is a problem because someone stole mine and i'm sure they were also wanting to get the tail lights. Anyway, the rear tail light bezels are not bolted down, they snap in/out. Someone can easily steal my tail lights after the bezels are removed making my car unsafe for travel. I have a police report of the incident. The vehicle was parked at my home under a car port. There are lots of online videos on youtube that teach anyone how to remove these bezels with just a small tool to grab onto the bezel.
The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that there was leakage of air on the front passenger side. After opening the convertible top, the front driver side had a leakage of air. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than four times, but the vehicle could not be repaired. The manufacturer was notified several times and provided no solution. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000. Updated 01/06/2017*ctconsumer stated air leak from convertible top/windows or doors. Right rear rim cracked for the third time on my car. I noticed a slow leak after driving forabout an hour earlier in the day. I get back in my car after a round of golf and notice that the right rear tire is low on air pressure.this is the third time i've had a cracked rim. I don't abuse my car,as this is a limited edition c7r, one of 500 made for the us market. My dealer admits that the rims are defective but says they can't do anything about it because gm says the rims aren't defective. Even though my car is only five years old with less than 36,000 miles on it, gm no longer makes these rims and none are available nationwide, so i'm forced to go to a aluminum wheel repair shop to get my rim fixed as there is no alternative. The original rim cracked, the $1,000 oemreplacement rim cracked (in the same place), and now the original rim repaired has cracked (again in the same area just next to where it was repaired).
While operating vehicle loses the ability to accelerate, which has resulted in 3 near miss collisions, (one head on incident and two side impact collisions.) the side impact near miss collisions were after making an attempt at a left turn where there was plenty of time initially to complete the maneuver, the car completely loses the ability to accelerate and is dead in its tracks on the road.the head on near miss collision occurred during an attempt to pass another vehicle. As the car accelerated in the passing zone, and pulled next to the vehicle being passed, the ability to accelerate was lost and thankfully the other driver was able to avoid the collision prior to the ability to accelerate resuming. When the ability to accelerate voids, pushing the gas pedal has no impact on acceleration. These 3 occurrences were the most pronounced and potentially fatal, however, there have been a myriad of instances where the ability to accelerate has stopped momentarily. I am also concerned with the overwhelming chemical odor (plastic smell) emanating throughout the car. After a year of ownership, and leaving windows open while stored, it persists to the point that it remains overwhelming with the windows up and top on.due to fears for my safety and wellbeing i have been unable to take pleasure in the vehicle i purchased exclusively for enjoyment.
Z06 model, black wheels with machined groove, 12k miles, march 2016 build.hairline crack found on left rear wheel, on the inside lip.appears identical to problems reported by others here and on corvette related web sites.first noted as slow loss of air in september 2019.the air loss worsened and was brought in for repair in june 2020.the local shop discovered the crack as the cause of the leak.the wheel was fixed (welded) and is back on the road.i am concerned about the rims safety given the (apparent) original manufacturing deficiency, andalso that one has now needed to be welded.the problem appears to have happened on its own.there are no known contributing factors such as accidents, underinflation, racing, potholes or such.
I own a 2016 chevrolet corvette z06. I noticed a wobbling sensation on the highway only to find that my rear wheels are bent and cracked! the car has less than 13k miles on it and is now unsafe to drive unless i spend thousands on new wheels.
I purchased an optional chrome wheel upgrade which was delivered with new vehicle.right rear wheel cracked and lost air pressure after 4,000 miles, left rear wheel cracked and lost air pressure after 6,800 miles.
Veh purchased 9/2015 and so far i have replace four rear rims and one front. All have hair line cracks on the inside of rim causing radical air loss, vibration and tire wear. I hope nothing happens to me or the car.
I had a slow leak in a rear tire on a z06 wheel. The tire shop fixed the leak and informed me the wheel was bent. The car was bought new and has only 2000 miles on the odo. I cannot recall hitting a large pothole or running over anything
2 right side bent rims per gm dealer. Unknown what cause
I purchased a used 2016 chevy corvette zo6 & after driving it less than 3,000 miles have had 4 different cracks in the wheels that needed repair.this issue totally blindsided me & had i known the extent of it, i would never have purchased this vehicle.i now do not feel safe driving it & will be attempting to trade in or sell.it is mind boggling to me how this issue has been allowed to go unresolved with no ownership from gm.to say i am very disappointed would be a gross understatement.
Over about 3000 miles this im on my second cracked rim.dealer keeps telling me i hit a pothole.definitely did not hit any thing.i baby the car.gm needs to be responsible for this at $1000/rim not to mention the safety implications.
Right rear tire began loosing air. Upon inspection, found that the inside of the wheel had a crack. Replaced all four wheels at my own expense. The vehicle could not hold air for more than a few hours.
Have had this vehicle for less than a year. Took it in to be serviced and to get new tires. Upon taking the rims off, the dealership showed me that 3 of my rims had cracks in them. One of the three rims had 3 cracks in it all the way around that could have broken and folded at anytime cause a serious accident or even death. After doing research this seems to be an extensive problem for numerous corvette owners from 2015 to present. Worst part is i'm active duty marine corps and used my deployment money to buy this vehicle that is no longer reliable or safe, and is now just sitting in my driveway, undriveable as the rims continue to crack and are not safe.
On september 20, 2020, i took my 2016 corvette z06 to classic chevrolet in sugar land, texas becase i had a leak in my right rear tire/wheel.i was told later that day that i had a cracked wheel and it would have to be replaced at a cost to me of $900.i had no choice but to replace the wheel.i have not hit anything that would cause this crack, and found that many people with z06's have had the same problem; that is, cracked wheels for no apparent reason.i questioned the service technician about this complaint as i have read about it on line.he said gmknows about the problem but refuses to do anything about it.this is not only potentially dangerous, but a horrible expense that should not be borne by z06 owners.
Cracked rear wheel. I purchased the car used and this was discovered during an inspection.
Both rear wheels on my z06 cracked on the insideno warping no dings or hits happenedtook to dealer to replace tires and was showed that both wheels cracked and need to be replacedtoo dangerous to usehave pictures in phone and dealers report and i will hold on to the wheels
Had low tire on 11/22/2018. Went to tire shop. Fixed the flat on right rear wheel. They informed me the wheel was bent but would hold air. Took to the dealer. Gm would not repair under warranty. I had to pay for repair. The car never hit a pothole, curb, or any road debris. It apparently occurred while car was in motion on city streets.
Wheel, made of aluminum, developed a crack on the inside of the right rear tire, without my noticing any reason. One day i just noticed that there was a slow lead in the right rear. America's tire wouldn't repair the leak and said i had to buy new tires. I did and the next day the right rear was flat again. I took it back to america's tire and they found the crack in the rim. The car had less than 26,500 miles on it at the time. The chevy dealer took pictures to verify for gm that there were no signs of the car being raced or abused, but gm declined to replace the rim saying it wasn't defective. The chevy dealer ultimately sold me a new rim ($1,000 on my car) and charged me $50 extra for a core charge as i wanted to keep the cracked rim so i can show anyone who wants to see it that there isn't any impact marks on the medal in the area of the crack, i.e., the rim just cracked. My car is a very expensive limited edition car with very big rims.i am attaching pictures of the crack, one with the tire mounted and leaking air and two with views of the crack once the tire was removed.
Front left and rear left wheels causing vibration in vehicle at speeds over 40 mph. Vehicle had less than 3000 miles on odometer and wheels were not damaged by striking anything. Vibration becomes more pronounced as speed increases. Dealer confirmed both wheels out of manufacturers spec.
Factory wheels cracked from normal driving on the inner lip, tire mechanic advised he's seen many of these on the z06 wheels and it's a known problem however gm won't cover the defective wheels under warranty. The cracked wheel causes a slow leak end eventually can break if gone undetected resulting in a loss of control of the vehicle.
My driver's side rear tire had a slow leak, and i took it to the local tire shop for a quick repair and side to side tire rotation. Come to find out both rear wheels are cracked and cannot be repaired. I searched the gm corvette owner's forum, and it's a common problem. This isn't covered by warranty either despite this being the second set of wheels for my vette. The first were bent out of round.
Cracked wheel after driving over small pothole on the interstate causing crack in rim and slow loss of tire air pressure. Crack in rear wheel inboard flange, wheel was not bent or warped.
The left rear rim on the vehicle cracked resulting in air loss.gm covered only a 40% of the cost to replace.this fracture places all four of the wheels in question.rims should not crack and fail.
I was driving and i notice a wheel is low on air. I go to a tire shop and they tell me that the wheel is cracked and needs to be replaced. This has happened twice so far. I don't remember hitting a pot hole or anything.
I noticed a vibration that would start at about 55 mph. I took the car in to america's tire to have the wheels balanced and found out that all four wheels were bent. The car has never been raced and has been driven in a normal matter. I have hit some minor potholes but nothing of any consequence.
Corvette cracked wheel: one of my wheels on my 2016 corvette z06 cracked for no apparent reason.
Right rear wheel cracked. Less than 17k miles. Gm says not covered under b2b warranty.discovered when tire loss air while driving. Did not hit any pot holes when event occurred/discovered.model is corvette z06, which is not a choice above.
Right rear time cracked multiple times and supercharger rattle at lowes speeds
My 2016 chevrolet corvette z06 convertible just passed 18000 miles.i took my car into the dealership to get the faulty brake wear sensors replaced.i also had a 4 wheel alignment done as the inside of my tires were wearing.when they got the car up they showed me cords on my right front tire were showing on the inside wear area.so i had to replace all 4 tires, dealership said 18000 miles from factory tires was great.i think that is an indication of how i drive the vehicle, meaning i don't beat it up nor track it.on my way home i noticed a very strong shaking/vibration in the car.i took the car back and the dealer said my right front rim was dented.i've owned the car since 1825 miles and have been the only person to drive it.i have never hit a pot hole or anything to cause this.so i was shocked when they said my wheel was dented.they then said that this is extremely common on the c7 corvette.the dealer said they've had customers that have replaced 3-4 wheels.they recommended buying after market forged wheels as replacing them with new factory wheels won't guarantee that they won't bend or crack.a set of forged wheels runs $8000 or better for the car.this is a huge safety issue on a very expensive car that was designed to run on a race track.this could easily cause an accident if the wheel fails why driving.online you can see this isn't just a minor problem, but one that seems to be plaguing may of the c7 z06 and grand sport owners.i'm not sure about the zr1 owners, maybe gm got their wheels right.gm should be replacing all z06 and grand sport owners wheels and not with the current factory wheels as they are clearly defective.anyway i just wanted to post my complaint as i think its important for your agency to see how many people are actually affected.i'm sure there are many that haven't that have had this problem.
As has been cited by many owners of the 7th generation corvette, i experienced 2 bent wheels in february of 2018 when car was noticed to have harsh vibration while driving. In october 2019 tire pressure would not hold and wheel was found to be cracked. This car is driven occasionally and is not autocrossed or driven on a track. Car has only 15,600 miles.
Bent or cracked wheel rims despite low mileage and careful driving. Some have complained to the national highway traffic safety administration, others to the better business bureau.
We have had to repair then replace 2 rear cracked rims in the 1.5 years we have owned this vehicle. The first one was 3 months after purchasing it and the second one was in january 2019. After noticing both times that first the left tire was losing air a hairline crack was noticed on the inside of the rim. We had it repaired and it did not last so for safety reasons we needed to replace it. The same thing happened with the right side in late 2018. It was again suggested we repair it, then again the repair did not hold and we needed to replace.
My 2016 corvette started having high frequency vibrations in steering wheel and interior panels with under 7900 miles of service. I complained to the dealership service department about the problem and found front wheels to be bent and could not balance the wheels properly. The dealership advised me to take my corvette to another dealership that had better equipment than them. The second dealership inspected my corvette and informed me that all four wheels are bent and cannot balance them properly. Neither dealership will replace the wheels under warranty. Thus far, gm as well, will not replace wheels under warranty. I attest that i have not driven my corvette abnormally nor have hit obstructions or pot holes. I have never driven my corvette on rough, gravel or dirt roads. I do believe this is a very serious safety problem that chevrolet and gm should address before someone has a terrible accident because of these wheels!
I returned to my car after playing a round of golf on monday and the car said the right rear tire was low. I drove to the tire store and they found the rim was cracked with no signs of any trauma to the rim or tire. I had the same thing happen in january 2020, and ended up buying a new aluminum rim from the dealer (over $1.000) because gm says the rim isn't defective. The car then had 26,500 miles on it. Now 7,600 miles and a little over a year later, the new replacement rim cracks on the inside of the rim in the very same manner as the original rim cracked. I've attached a picture and now have two cracked (defective) rims in hand. I reported the first cracked rim to nthsa when it happened a year ago and now am reporting the second identical defect. Do i need to drive the car and hurt myself via an accident to get you folks to take my case seriously?
Both rear wheels developed cracks approximately two inches long from the inside edge toward the middle of the wheel. The cracks in both wheels were similar in size and location. Mileage when noticed was 24,000. Numerous reports of the same issue are being reported on corvette related web sites.
Bent wheels or rims with cracks that have to be replaced for safety.
I was driving down i-20 and my tire warning light came on for the right rear tire.i took the car to discount tire and the technician pulled the tire and said that the rim was cracked and showed me the crack.i believe if i had disregarded the tire warning and just added air i could have had an accident if the rim disintegrated while driving.
Wheels developed cracks and are subject to becoming out of round.
Multiple stress cracks in both rear wheels, no damage or insults to wheel!general motors or nassani brothers chevrolet dealership culver city, ca, would acknowledg the problem. This was reported to the dealership and general motors numerous times, with gm telling to take it to dealership and the dealership telling me to contact general motors, i continue to have problems resulting in buying 1 tire and new wheels out of pocket.
At 26000 miles, left rear tire was losing air. No damage or any impacts at all. Found inner lip of wheel had a hairline fracture. Very concerned about the materials or process used to manufacture the wheels.
On or about september 11, 2018 i noticed my right front tire was low on air. I took it to les schwab tire and they repaired a leak from a screw. A couple of days later i noticed the tire was still going low i took it back and they informed me that it had a cracked wheel. I purchased a new wheel from chevrolet and had less schwab install it for me .i just recently 2/22/2019 put new tires on the carand the dealership noted the brand new wheel i put on the right rear has cracks in it now as well as the left rear wheel which is losing air.these wheels are expensive i believe they retail for $800 each at the dealer and are defective and dangerous.most of our miles are highway miles driving between san jose california and elk grove california between my offices.
All 4 rims were bent when i took my chevy corvette in for a tire change at 15,000 miles.
