Seat belt pretensioner on the passenger side deployed (sounded like a shotgun blast in the cabin) without provocation. No accident, did not run over anything, etc. Going straight ~45mph on an empty street at 12:50am. Smoke billowing out of the cabin of my car, all the lights were on, bells were ringing, etc. It's as if i was in an accident, but no airbags deployed. Frightening experience! gm said it is not their problem.

The contact owned a 2015 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated while at a stop light, a 2008 toyota tundra crashed into the vehicle. The vehicle was dragged several feet and was towed to an independent lot. The air bags failed to deploy.there was no reported fire. The contact sustained injuries to the head and ears that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss. The contact received nhtsa campaign number: 16v651000 (air bags, seat belts) after the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet corvette. While driving 40 mph, the instrument panel dimmed. The contact could not see any of the indicators, including the speedometer. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the instrument panel screen needed to be replaced. The repairs were performed, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,500.updated 01/07/16*lj

Bad valve springs across many gm vehicles. I am not the only one that has had broken valve springs. I am well under the miles for this issue to occur.

Car was being filed with gas at station, i was 25 ft away with my keys and the engine started by itself. No one in car, not near car, keys in my jacket pocket. Car was not in motion and engine was off while pumping gas.

Just as you accelerate, around 1200 to 1500 rpm, with a light touch, you hear want is being described as a "warble" sound. It has a metallic ring and lasts a few seconds.loading the engine on a hill makes the sound more intense. It is happening to a stock 2015 stingray coupe. Thought this was only happening to me because others do no have this issue but found a group of corvette owners on the corvette forum with the same issue.

At any speed the car jerks like one or more spark plug wires are not firing(pulled off) in all modes, it is worse in (e economy mode)push the gas down it gets worse in all modes. I replaced the plugs and wires i still have this problem, i was hoping it was a bad plug or wire, that happens.i took it to the dealer when the check engine light came on i pulled the fuse for the exhaust valves to keep them openthey checked then tested the car and told me it was fine no other codes were found.i have 1800 miles on the car now i tried every 93 octane fuel available in this area and other areas, hoping it was just bad fuel that many stations can't have bad fuel for it to be fuel related.

I have a 2015 corvette stingray with 35k miles. The vehicle has been to the dealership 2 times already once at 11k miles and second time at 22k miles where the car should shudder while cruising at low speeds. Also in the morning during a cold start when i would shift the car from park into reverse then the car would do a hard shift. Twice the dealership changed the fluid in the transmission and rebuilt the entire transmission since the car was under warranty. But my car's extended warranty expired on 03/01/20, in 06/01/20 the issue came back. Now gm is refusing to take responsibility to fix the vehicle. When refueling, tank filler pipe accepts fuel only very slowly. Several different gas station pumps were tried, all kept clicking off every 3 seconds (as if tank was full). Tank was empty to take in several more gallons of fuel.

A strong fuel odor is coming from the fuel filler pipe. The fuel odor fills the garage when the car has been sitting in there overnight, and completely turned off. The authorized chevrolet dealer service department has tried to fix it twice, but has not been successful. Vehicle is stationary.

I ran out of gas on the interstate during rush with a tractor trailer behind me? how i got to the shoulder was a miracle!! then i noticed the engine warning light came on, the gas gauge stopped working? the road warrior came and gave me some gas.i took it my dealer right away. They gave me a loaner.after a few days i called for an update? the service deptartment told me it was the fuel sender unit that went bad. And that part is on national back order?? i don't know what that meant? so i call gm's customer relations and speak to a gloria. She informs me the part is unavailable. And she does not have an eta on it?? i told her i thought that car companies are suppose to keep parts for new model car for at least through the warranty period? she agreed!! imagine? so i ask then why is my part? she couldn't answer? i bought my car in march, 2015 and have 7180 miles on her. And is obviously still under warranty! i bring it back to my dealer and tell him i want a new car because by this time it's been 30 days waiting for part. I am driving with the trip monitor, to try gauge gas usage?

When refueling, tank filler pipe accepts fuel only very slowly. Several different gas station pumps were tried, all kept clicking off every 3 seconds (as if tank was full). Tank eventually took an additional 7 or 8 gallons, but it took 8 or 10 minutes to accomplish that.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was out of fuel but the fuel gauge indicated that the vehicle was not low of fuel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel gauge sending unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the part not being available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 7,168.

The vehicle is equipped with an 8l90 automatic transmission. It has a severe shudder problem when cruising down the road at 50 to 70 mph. Can get almost undrivable. Also will not upshift after a performance downshift. Dealer flushed transmission per gm bulletin but problem is still there. Looks like almost all of gm 8 speed transmissions have this problem circa 2015-2016.

8-speed automatic transmission always shifts erratically when starting out cold (lazy shift, slow shift, etc.) and occasionally does not downshift when car comes to astop, only to slam hardinto 1st when gas pedal is pressed to resume travel.dealer says gm claims this is "normal," but no car i've ever owned behaves like this.appears to be fluid starvation internally.any fix/replacement would be costly for gm, so given their history w/faulty ignition switches, not surprised they're trying to avoid it.transmission is definitely not normal and behavior is unpredictable + unacceptable -- especially at this price.when car is moving & transmission is in drive and trying to lazily shift gears, you temporarily lose ability to apply power, which is both dangerous and unnerving.clearly, this transmission was put into production w/inadequate testing & development.a recall is necessary to fix properly.

A8 transmission shudder. Had fluid change at 10305 miles.at 10881 miles problem is now worse than before. Warranty is now expired . Hopefully gm has a remedy for this problem on 2015 corvette. Have owned five corvette. This may be the last one gm needs to stand behind their product.

Automatic 8 speed transmission had to be replaced at 2000 miles on the odometer due to hard shifts and shifting automatically to low gear at highway speeds nearly bringing the car to a stop in interstate traffic, now 700 miles and 4 months later the transmission is stuck in second gear and you cant drive fast enough to get out of the way of traffic. And i know of several other cars like it that have similar problems. This is a real safety problem and gm seems to ignore it, probably until someone gets hurt or killed.

I had my vehicle serviced at dan vaden chevrolet in savannah, ga on 16 oct 2017 at (12,200 miles). My main concern was a shudder and jerky motion the car starts demonstrating while in motion, accompanied by fluctuating engine rpms. After researching on the internet there are 1000's of issues with these torque converters and who knows what accidents these failures have caused. There should be a total recall on these transmissions.a service department technician test drove my vehicle and confirmed and documented my concerns and stated it was okay to drive ?i am scheduling another service at (13000 miles). A search of the internet will fill you full of facts on these failures. Problems with the torque converters with these high end vehicles are well on the way to become another corvette issue of epidemic proportions. Please assist.

The a8 automatic transmission in the 2015 corvette is prone to occasional hard downshifts from 2nd to 1st gear when driving at slow speeds (less than 10 mph).sometimes the downshifts are so violent that the car jerks forward several feet.the first time it happened i thought i had been rear ended by another car.the unpredictable behavior of the transmission is especially dangerous in proximity to pedestrians or other vehicles.

When the vehicle is in motion, ata constant highway speed, 40 to 70 mph,any acceleration or deceleration, causes the car to vibrate for several seconds. I feel this is a safety issue because, at times, during the 'shudder' event, the car will lunge forward.gm has diagnosed the problem as 'shudder' and has issued a service bulletin. The fix they recommend is a complete transmission flush and fill with an upgraded transmission fluid. I am assuming the oem fluid is defective. This condition is not an isolated event. It happens almost ever time speed is accelerated or decelerated. My vehicle only had 5600 miles.

8 speed automatic transmission down shifts at a stop with such force it feels as you have been hit from behind by another car while coming to a stop. Transmission also will not always engage properly and will over rev and slam into gear possibly causing an accident. Transmission at times will disengage while going forward then slam into gear with great force. I was told by a gm insider that gm is aware some transmissions are defective and is working on a kit to fix the fluid starvation problem internally but has done nothing to inform owners of the potential dangers of erratic shifting that it's causing while driving. This also causes the transmission to over heat and to illuminate a warning lamp.

Automatic a8 transmission has the following issues: 1)morning shift from reverse to drive severely delayed, bangs in eventually. 2) erratic shifting in normal traffic 3) the 2-1 downshift when coming to a stop results in severe bang, lurches forward and is very unsafe in a parking lot situation. Also in stop and go traffic, same lurching forward. Feels as if someone hit you from behind 4) torque converter lockup in 5th and 6th gear. Dealer tore apart the car to replace the stator, performed software update - neither solution worked.

Tsb 18-na-355 - vehicle is experiencing a shake and/or shudder during light throttle acceleration between 25 and 80 mph (40 and 128 km/h) steady state driving when transmission is not actively shifting gears. The experience is similar to driving over rumble strips or a concrete road surface with rough expansion joints.took to dealership to repair, but they are stating the warranty ended in january and requiring me to pay for the fix.will join the class action lawsuit.

Slow down shift. When you hit the accelerator while the car is down shifting, there isa 2 second delay. I came off express way and turned on to road then hit the gas to merge into a lane when there was a 2 second delay. Very dangerous. How do i fix problem? why is chevrolet not fixing problem.

Transmission shifts hardbetween first and second, intermittent shudder every2 to 3 seconds when drivingdown road at normal highway speeds coming from transmission

2015 corvette stingray z51 - 8 speed automatic transmission torque converter. With only 7,500 miles on the car it started to run jerky and rpms would fluctuate for no reason (especially at highway speeds when fully warmed up). Often felt like driving on a washboard dirt road. After a cold start, there was a delay after shifting into drive. When it engaged after several seconds it would do so violently, lurching the car forward suddenly. Dealer diagnosed faulty torque converter as defective and a known problem with these transmissions.after less than 2,000 miles the symptoms returned and the dealer again replaced the torque converter. So now i'm on my 3rd defective tc. After 1,700 miles, symptoms returned again! dealer said that chevrolet and gm have ordered a stop on replacing the tc's since no fix was available. Gm advised to drain and flush tranny, refilling with mobil1 transmission fluid. This seemed to work (only for a little longer) but is worrisome because in the future service, a technician will likely refill with gm fluid, not mobil1. Especially if a second owner.now at 16,100 miles the symptoms are returning! jerkiness, slamming into gear after a delay on cold starts.gm seems to have turned their back on stingray owners by kicking the can down the road beyond warrantee (with the mobil1 "band-aid fix"). On the forums there are so many owner complaining about this same issue. I am amazed that there is no official investigation resulting in a recall. This z51 lt3 stingray was $75,000 otd! for this cost we should be able to expect a quality vehicle and a motor company that stands behind it!can somebody please help us with this serious and potentially dangerious problem?

I've almost been hit twice pulling into traffic on a city street with this car.shifting when the transmission is cold into 2nd gear from 1st gear is near impossible and appears to be a known problem based on my internet search.several times i've pulled into traffic and couldn't shift it into 2nd gear.by then the car is slowing down with traffic bearing down on it and you have to slow down even more to go back to 1st gear.the local dealership says this is normal but i disagree because it's a safety issue.i have to rev the engine higher and go directly into third gear to protect my life.

Please see snip from http://corvettec7fiasco.blogspot.com/2016/02/thousands-of-2015-and-2016-chevrolet.html thousands of 2015 and 2016 chevrolet corvette c7 stingray and c7 z06 with defective 8l90 8-speed automatic transmission, with no help from general motors for the ownersback in 2014, this blog predicted a variety of problems related to then upcoming 8l90 transmission, one of those sounding on paper ideas, as long as the execution delivers on the promises.so far, the variety of problems related to the new +general motors 8l90 eight speed automatic transmission was already mind boggling: from expected overheating issues, failing flex plates, variety of leaks and software related issues, all the way to right down scary cases of transmission voluntarily "inspiring" new corvettes to rev up and attempt to take off. However, what was missing were the problems with the torque converter.apparently, this is no longer the case and in fact, the torque converted problems are well on the way to become another corvette issue of epidemic proportions, further eroding already weak faith the hardcore corvette buyers may have in +general motors and the ever popular +tadge juechter .as expected, the undersized and high spinning torque converter issues manifest themselves in a shudder and jerky motion the car starts demonstrating, accompanied by fluctuating engine rpms.however, here lies the big problem: the same symptoms can be easily associated with the ever popular afm forcing the newest corvette into 4 cylinder mode.there are 1000's of issues with these torque converters and who knows what accidents these failures have caused.my car is in the shop for 1 week for the repair, thank god it was covered by warranty..there should be a total recall on these transmissions.. A search of the internet will fill you full of facts on these failures.

While driving the driver side rear suspension collapsed to the street. This happened in traffic at about 40mph.we were traveling on hwy 24 ne in colorado springs heading to home near kansas city.as described in a re call with 43 other corvettes the recall notice nhtsa campaign number: 15v031000. But our 2015 was built on aug 12 2014 and is not included.we had just completed an 8 day drive through many colorado mountain roads which with this kind of failure would certainly had the potential of killing my wife and me.we are extremely lucky that this happened at a low speed in a straight line.several days before this happened we had a suspension upgrade software only on our corvette.we did have some symptoms of extra sway when rounding corners, but when we put the drive mode to track this went away.had we known that the symptoms were not related to the software upgrade we would have taken the corvette to a dealer while we were on vacation.

Water leaking into rear cargo hold area.accumulating and not draining out.don't know why.

Following the owner?s manual instruction to burnish the breaks, i took my car to an area where i could go from zero to 60 mph then break, 50 times in 10 minutes. On about the 40th cycle, the engine overheated and started to ?rev limit? and a warning came on that said to change the engine oil, which i just had done. The final ten cycles took a lot longer to get to 60. The hvac system was off during the procedure, the temp of the coolant got close to 320f, and the outside temperature said 103f.after the 50th run i drove the car at about 60 mph until the engine got to a safe temperature than i turned on the air and got the same toxic odor i experienced when i first took delivery. It made me sick to my stomach and i had to open the windows. I had gone through great lengths to get rid of that odor and thought it was at an acceptable level before the burnishing. I always left the windows open when parked in my garage, i put the car in the direct sun for several days with doors and back open, and the top off, and even left the engine running for six hours one day with the air on. I had also driven the car with the windows open for two hours with the heater at max temp.the odor was of such a concern that two doctors suggested i sell the car. Here in california 115f degrees or more is not uncommon, and often much higher on black pavement. I am concerned that i don?t know when the car might overheat again and produce more toxic fumes.i have taken the car to the dealer and the factory representative ignored the heating problem and said he could not smell anything other than the new car smell. They did change the oil free of charge and give me a ?2015 corvette track preparation? flyer that specified different viscosity oil and a different burnishing procedure. Unfortunately there was no date or number on that flyer.

Shifter sticks in park intermittently.defective solenoid on shifter that can not be replaced.need to replace entire shifting unit to repair.defective solenoid on new shifters fail also.$700 to $1000 to repair.only has 10,000 miles on car.

Windshield mounting stress crack. While inside my garage today, i found a large 25 inch long crack in the upper drivers side corner of my 2015 corvette. Upon inspection the crack is on the inside layer of the 2 layer glass. Nothing fell on the car and i haven't driven it for 6 months. Being friends with other corvette owners, i spoke with them and was sent to the 'corvetteforum ' online. I was surprised to find this is an ongoing issue with this model of car. While some owners are covered for replacement by gm dealerships under warranty. Many owners are not covered even tho they have very low mileage. My car, 6 years old and 27,000 miles. The forums discusses owners dismay and safety concerns, and how could so many corvette c7s have the same issue, and gm not issuing a recall or something to help all the owners. These cracking windshields pose a safety and legal issue if driven. It is not an act of god that caused the cracks, but a misaligned guide pin or tab in direct contact with the glass gm designed into the car.i like gm, and would like them to like me too.that mutual respect is truly what this world needs now.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet corvette. While driving various speeds, the rearview mirror displayed a bright blinding light that obstructed the driver's view. In addition, the light caused a reflection on the windows of the vehicle and the contact could not see out of them. Orr chevrolet in fort smith, arkansas was made aware of the failure and stated that the contact should place a piece of tape over the light sensor. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that enough people had not complained about the failure for it to be a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

Windshield is delaminating.delamination has caused a stress crack to develop.there is no evidence of a stone or other projectile impacting the windshield.these conditions have been verified by the chevrolet dealer where the car was purchased after inspection by the service lane manager and the service director.condition noticed when washing the car.

The windshield in the c7 corvettes crack from the inside out. This is a very common occurrence, and it seems that gm/chevrolet is completely ignoring it. See more info here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-general-discussion/3946004-2016-z06-windshield-crack-is-it-common.htmla simple google search ( corvette windshield cracks from inside ) and you will find hundreds of people that have experienced this problem. Apparently, there is some kind of welding/manufacturing defect that causes rubbing on the inside of the windshield causing them to crack. This can obstruct the view of the driver and is unsafe.my car has done the same thing. When contacting the dealer, we have been told this is not a recall or service bulletin and so it will be out-of-pocket repair and not covered under warranty.

When i took the car into a discount tire store to have new tires put on the back at about 15,600 miles on the car cracks were found on the inside rim where tire bead seals of both back wheels.problem was immediately reported to dealer who verified cracks, but dealer and gm refused to replace unless i purchase new wheels for discounted price of $1,100.00 for rear wheels only. Spoke with representatives of gm engineering and found problem is a known issue with rear wheel cracking going back several years with cast china made wheels on corvette z06 and zr1 models. I was told gm corvette chief engineer has posted information on the wheel cracking problem on corvette forum and only way to not have wheel cracking problem on replacement wheels would be to not drive on roads with bumps or pot holes.they agreed this was not realistic but gm stands firm on payment for new wheels with no assurance this will solve the problem.my complaint was closed at gm as customer declined reduced price offer and is dissatisfied.cracking wheels should be a major safety concern and especially with cars that have this much power to the wheels and are capable of the speeds these model cars can obtain.this is totally irresponsible of gm to allow this to happen and not recall the wheels and replace them with ones that do not crack, especially on cars with such low mileage.

Experienced the exact same weird cracked wheel that many other c7 owners have experienced on 7/11/19.no specific pothole.justcracked wheel which looks like all the others on the corvette forum.

Chevy is selling 2015 z-51 corvettes with summer only run-flat tires.michelin indicates that these tires severely lose traction whenever temperatures fall below 40 degrees f.they are also not appropriate for use in wet or snowy conditions.michelin or any other tire manufacturer does not make an all-season tire that is a run-flat.owners who are not aware of this constraint or those who ignore the problem are at risk for a serious accident and injury.chevy ignores the problem and offers no solution.other manufacturers such as bmw also use similar size tires which do not have suitable all-season run flat replacements.thousands of these cars on the road present serious risks for every driving along side these vehicles.people who buy used cars with these summer only tires may not have any idea that they summer only tires nor the risk they may be taking.i am sure there are no records of how many accident have been caused by these tires since no one has probably taken notice of the tire types envolved in accidents.

2015 z06 corvette cracked 3 rear wheels (20" diameter).one at 24,000 miles, one at 30,000 miles and one at 40,000 miles.car is only driven to work on interstate quality roads.no in town driving.all wheel cracked on the inside.the cracks started at the outer edge, down the rim, then toward the center of the wheel.when the crack propagated past the outer bead of the tire, the wheel started leaking air.i have two of the cracked wheels presently.none of the wheels are bent.

The contact owns a 2015 chevrolet corvette. While the contact was having tires installed at bill stasek chevrolet (700 w dundee rd, wheeling, il), he was informed that all the rims were cracked and the rear passenger wheel was leaking. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 13,466.

A small crack developed on the inside rim of one of my rear wheels as i was driving on city streets and an interstate highway. I noticed the problem when "low tire pressure" came up on my screen. . i was 500 miles from home when i noticed that the tire was leaking. I went to a local tire dealer. He discovered the crack and said that it would take about 5 days to get a replacement. I needed to get home so he put some sticky tire goo on the outside of the crack and inflated the tire to 50 psi. After about 400 miles on my trip home, the pressure was about 24 psi. I inflated it back to 45 psi and made it home safely.

Wheel rim crack at bead and leaks air.it a widely know issue, and i have become a statistic.i have read there may be a class action against gm for such issue.

Cracked rear wheels on both sides. Noticed because of air leak after long trip.

Both of my oem rear wheels (spectra gray - 10 spoke), have developed cracks requiring replacement at my expense.despite my corvette being on warranty and a high performance, sports car which is regularly serviced, the chevrolet dealership refuses to replace these wheels, except at my expense, citing that poor road conditions in california are blame for the fractures, running horizontally on the rim lip.the fractures create a very dangerous situation given high torque levels, low profile tires with a wide stance.the tires and the suspension are designed for high performance, and high g force, but wheels are apparently flawed for the designedtolerances imposed by driving a high performance corvette.my car rapidly loss air pressure at freeway speeds and the air pressure warning light activated in both occasions, warning of the hazardous condition.
