I have a 2009 corvette c6 with 9500 miles on it. The airbag warning comes on and stays on. Dealer turned off the warning now and said i have defective drivers side air bags. He was going to order new ones and i haven't heard back for a month now. I am driving a new car without airbags???
Possible takata air bag malfunction, driver side air bags deployed when i went to place transmission in reverse to back the car from driveway. I had not moved when air bags deployed causing shoulder and neck injuries to occur. The escaping gas from the air bag burnt the hair off of the left forearm.
Airbag light comes on intermittently, many corvette owners are having this safety issue, for numerous years. Mine is 2010.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for further inspection and diagnosis. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.updated 3/31/15
1) check airbag warning light turns on intermittently when adjusting drivers seat.faulty wiring in seat wiring harness.2) check airbag warning light turns on when driving on highway or when parked.moving seat back, forward, up/down will clear the check airbag warning light, but warning returns.3) recurring issue on multiple days.
From time to time the air bag light comes on and stays on. It will go off if i move the driver's seat back and forth a little. I have taken it to the dealer and they can find nothing wrong even after taking the driver's seat out and completely re-installing it.this continues to happen from time to time and my concern is that i have come to ignore the light and one of these days the light will be on for a reason and i will ignore it . I have been told that many other 2010 corvette owners have the same complaintmy suspicion is that the issue is in the wiring which may be getting pinched from time to time as the seat moves back and forth.
Airbag light coming on while traveling down the road.
While driving at varying speeds, the air bag light will flash on and off randomly. This indicates a fault with the airbag system, and as a result the airbags are deactivated and will not provide protection to occupants. The car was taken to the dealer, upon which the front impact sensor was replaced. The problem then returned several days later. It would appear based on others' experiences with this issue that it is related to a wiring harness connector that is secured to the seat frame.
The air bag light comes on for while driving this has happened 4 times total. After car shutdown and restart it resets. This is a major safety issue. If it shorts prior to an accident and the airbag does not deploy someone may be injured or even worse die from this ongoing problem.
When i accelerate hard from a stop and get to a high speed ( over 80 mph ) the airbag light comes on. When the airbag light is on all airbags are disabled. The only way to turn the light back of is to turn off the car and restart it. It will be fine until i accelerate quickly to a high speed. This car was made to drive fast and this shouldn't happen. I have taken to the dealer many times and they cannot fix it. This is a know problem with the corvette as i have talk with other owners who have the same problem.
Air bag light comes on and off. Seems to me its could be something electrical, cause it doesn't stay on all the time.seems like this should be a safety recall but i'm the 4th owner of this corvette so dont know if there was a recall and it never got fixed.thanks. It comes on and no set pattern for the air bag light to come on.sometimes it doesn't come on for a week or two and sometimes it stays on.
Airbag light intermittently lights, when i havent adjusted the seats and not speeding.seems to be a common occurence with corvette owners.saw it a few times before but it stopped before i took it into the dealers for service.
Last week the red air bag light located on the instrument panel on my 2010 corvette came on indicating there is a problem with the operations of my air bag, an important safety item required on vehicles by federal law. Doing some web research, i found a service bulletin #15643 dated for vehicles repaired on or after 4/21/16. While the 10-page notice provides all the details, in short, a connector was defective.taking my vehicle to my local chevrolet dealer today, i was informed that my vehicles problem was due to a connector that was unplugged, probably due to seat movement.so, my exact same problem that g.m. Is covering on the driver's side it is not covering the exact problem on the passenger seat?i am certain the connector on the passenger side of the vehicle was designed by the same engineer that designed the one on the driver's side. I am certain they were both manufactured by the same vendor. I am certain the materials are the same. The resulting problem is the same. The passenger side connector problem is the same as the driver's side and g.m. Should reimburse me for the cost of the repair.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet corvette. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled without warning. In addition, the vehicle failed to recognize the key fob when inserted. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 9,000.

The pedal/ throttle body circuit has issues has you are driving the car goes on limb mode, i almost got crashed into, i looked online and there is hundreds of complains including the trucks as well.
I became trapped inside this late model corvette.i opened, entered, sat in and simply closed the unlocked drivers door of this car located in the for sale section of the carmax store in waukesha wi.the doors locked approximately 1 minute after entry.all attempts to unlock via the unlocking door switch and interior door lock stem at interior door sill failed to unlock and grant exit.a female store visitor flagged a female sales associate 5 minutes later to unlock the vehicle and open the door.oxygen levels decreased rapidly in its windows up/doors closed configuration.i was in a near panic state.i was fortunate temperatures were in the 60's and cloud cover was high.i feared for my safety and believe fatal consequence can easily result from this engineering defect.
My 2010 grand sport corvette will crank and not start. This has been happening for the last few months. 39921 on the clock.
Driver information center (dic) displays "service traction control system" and alternating to "service active handling system".occurs without warning when driving; these systems abruptly stop working with out driver turning them off. This could lead to loss of control.
My 2010 corvette zr1 displays the "service active handling" message every few drives.it is sporadic, and intermittent...the problem does not seem to have an identifiable cause, or condition to make the message appear, only that it does, and immediately the car does not seem to feel right.it also seems to be increasing in frequency.i have less than 1,600 miles on the car, no bumps, no accidents, nothing...the car is in "perfect condition" aside from the "service active handling" message on the drivers information console display.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that the engine leaked oil and the contact smelled an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. The odor remained in the vehicle for a year and came from the vents, which distracted the driver. The vehicle was taken to nalley chevrolet (4200 jonesboro rd, union city, ga 30291, (770) 969-1001) where it was diagnosed that an oil change was needed and a new oil pan needed to be installed. The vehicle was repaired and an alignment was performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 18,775.

The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated the vehicle weight capacity label stated that the vehicle should not exceed 388 lbs. The dealer advised that the actual load capacity was 800 pounds. When contacting the manufacturer, he was advised that the load capacity should not exceed 388 pounds, which was listed on the vehicle. The contact was concerned with determining the actual load capacity. There were no failures in the vehicle. The current mileage was 130.
In damp weather, the drivers side headlightfogged over from condensation inside lens and the drivers side low beam headlight was observed to be not working. Passenger side headlight had no condensation and working low beam.both high beams were then turned on and observed to be working.conditions dried later in the day and headlights were observed to be working. Driver side headlamp condensation dried in 24 hours.over the prior sixmonths, condensation has been occasionally observed inside the drivers side headlamp but the low beam had not previously failed to light.chevrolet dealer ( robert's chevrolet in hicksville ny ) said they would not accept the car for service unless this intermittent problem was present at check-in even though we have photographic documentation.
Both the headlamps go out at the same time while driving.all the other lights seem to be working fine.car left in the garage overnight and the headlamps functionality returned.this happened two days in a row (11june2014, 12june2014). Please look into this safety issue and investigate.thanks!
Overwhelming fuel odor after shutting car off and housing it in the garage or outside. Especially noticeable in summer when ethanol is added to fuel - heavy smell of nail polish remover inside and outside the car. Fuel vapor leak from gas tank requires $2400 repair. Other owners have complained of similar problem on the corvette forum. Chevrolet needs to recall and replace this component on all c6 corvettes.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that fuel fumes emitted in and around the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the fuel pump was leaking. As a result, the fuel pump, sensor kit, and fuel pipe needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The failure and current mileage was 87,911.updated 02/11/2014updated 3/14/2014
When the vehicle sits in an enclosed garage, it fills the garage with raw fuel odor. This happens most often when it is around 3/4 tank. No fuel leaks on the floor visible but odor is very strong. Gas mileage has dropped significantly as well.
My car has a very bad gas smell in cabin and in garage if car has more then a half of tank of gas in it
Strong fuel smell when tank is over 1/2 full.fuel leak on driver side. Strong odor of gasoline by driver side rear wheel well
After fueling and for at least 100 miles afterward there is a distinct gasoline smell inside the car and in the garage.no leakage noticed under the car.took it to a chevrolet dealer who performed the smoke test which it failed.they replaced the pump and sending unit at no charge.this offer from chevrolet expires after 10 years or 120000 miles currently.this remediation should be a recall or a permanent technical solution for any corvette of this model that experiences this increasingly serious problem, no matter when it occurs.
After filling up my tank, i smell a strong gas smell primarily from the left rear (where i fill up) side of the car. It fills my garage with strong fumes and i don't feel save starting it, much less driving it. I don't smell anything in the cabin, only when it's in the garage. Also leads me to believe i'm loosing gas and fuel economy so that's a drag. I've looked at possible causes, and it could be many different things so it's currently uknown as far as what part is exactly wrong. I smell the fumes when the car is stationary.
A strong smell of fuel in the cockpit.while there is no visible puddle of fuel on my garage floor, the fuel odor is very strong and i am obliged to keep my garage door open or the fuel smell enters into the house. I took it to the service deptof where i purchased the vehicle (carmax) and was informed today that the leak is on the top of the left fuel tank and that to access it, it would be necessary to remove the transmission.i was also informed that since the job was a "big one" carmax would make arrangements to have my car brought to a chevrolet dealership. I was also told that my car max service warranty might not cover the repairs done outside their shop.i am bringing this to your attention in hopes that due to the fire danger involved with leaking fuel general motors will issue a safety recall on the problem.the fuel smell is amplified when there is 3/4 of a tank or more.the fuel smell is particularly strong when the vehicle is in the garage.the fuel smell diminishes if the vehicle is parked outside in the open air.
Fuel smell emitting from vehicle. Fills garage with fumes.
Fuel vapors coming from gas cap- even after replacing cap.
The car smells of fuel continuously in side and out. This started happening within the last 5 weeks without cause. It seems more pronounced on the drivers wheel well.it seems that is a more pronounced problem when the tank is 1/2 full or higher.i can not park the car in the garage as it stinks up the house.i've learned from research that there is a plastic elbow connector that deteriorates over time on top of the tank, cracks and sprays fuel. If this is not a safety recall, it certainly should be.
Strong odor / smell of fuel.. Noticed after filling fuel tank and stationed vehicle in enclosed garage..
Overwhelming fuel odors.. At first i assumed it might be a bad fuel cap. Replaces with oem fuel cap and smell if still very much present.. 1 thing to note.. Smell is present only when fuel tank is filled past half a tank. When i only put about 5-6 gallons from empty; there is no smell or odor..have tried it on several occasions and has proven positive on each fill up over 6 gallons..
Strong gas smell when car gets filled up. Then after i go out of the gas station car accelerates by itself after stopping and engine stops. After turning the car on again very strong gas smell. This will go on after some of the gas is wasted.
Severe gasoline fuel smell from leaking fuel tank pump. Odor permeates garage, house and inside of car.
I noticed the heavy smell of gas fumes after putting gas in my vet. The smell is most prominent when the car is off and parked in the garage. I am sure that the smell is always present and that being parkedin a parking lot or outside dissipates the smell. I have tried filling the tank half way to see if that would help but the smell of gas is still there. It is strongest in the rear hatch area on the drivers side. The smell in garage is so strong i have to leave the garage door open to vent. I am fearful that the fumes may ignite my gas water heater which is located about 7-8ft away or start a car fire if gas hits the hot exhaust pipe. This is truly something that chevy needs to review to see if faulty equipment was placed in the c6 models. I have had the vet for 4 years it is a 2010 and the mileage is just over 55k. I just noticed this issue about 3 months ago, but it seems to be getting worse. I hope that my property is not damaged by a fuel source originating from the car or worse yet, a death related to an explosion or fire.
When you put gasoline in the car the smell in the drivers compartment is almost unbearable.it is worse once you start driving.
I have a very strong fuel smell coming from the drivers side near the rear wheel.i believe the problem to be a leak from the top of the fuel pump module, maybe it's cracked and spraying fuel on top of my tank.i am afraid the fuel will run down onto the exhaust pipe and catch fire.
Gas smell when tank is filled
Fuel vapors leaking from evap system causing check engine light to come on, code p0455. I took it to the dealership and the service rep informed me that the leak was from coming from gas tank. I was told to drive the car until check engine comes back on and then call the dealership so he could contact gm.
I have a strong odor of fuel inside the cabin of the vehicle and also outside by the gas tank filler area. It is very prevalent when vehicle is parked after running it.
Bought 2010 corvette on 4/29/2020 out of town. Last 2 days have had strong gas smell in garage. Saw online about an issue and possible recall?
When the fuel tank is more than 50% full there is a strong persistent odor of fuel that fills my parking garage and can also be smelled in the car while driving. When the fuel tank is below 50% full the odor is less noticeable and virtually disappears as the fuel tank empties. There are no visible fuel leaks and there is no lack of performance from the engine. It appears that fuel vapors are leaking from the tank without leaking to the ground. The fuel cap is in good condition and properly secured.
Fuel smell, leaking pump on top of fuel tank.fire hazard. Fills garage with fuel smell that's extremely strong.vehicle could catch fire while driving spilling on hot exhaust. Could cause house fire.
Smell of gas in cabin after fill up.
Strong fuel smell coming from fuel cap area, caused by small fuel pump leak.fumes could cause a fire.
Have a strong fuel odor after driving the car. Garage is inundated with fuel smell and i have to open the garage door and use a floor fan to ventilate it to make it habitable. Suspect a fuel leak.
I have a 2010 chevy corvette basemodel with a gas leak it was parked in my garage for a two weeks . I went and put gas and noticed a strong smell of gas. I drove the car for a while and put it back in the garage the gas smell got worse i took it to the shop they said that the fuel pump is leakingwanting to charge me 2000 to fix it.
Fuel pumps on left and right side . Cracks in fuel ilines and pumps not working. Replaced both fuel pumps because of gas leakage and gas smell in garage.plus pumps would not equalize fuel so it would't start. Cost $c2666.54 to fix!!
Severe fuel smell when fuel level is high and especially when parked in enclosed space.
Very strong fuel vapor order when parkedp
Went to fill up tank and drove off with a very bad gas smell inside the car, put car in garage and smell was so bad had to open garage and put car out. It only smells when i fill up tank.
I have a 2010 corvette grand sport with 46000 miles that has strong gas fumes coming from the drivers side by the gas tank while parked in the garage. Even after sitting for 2 days the gas smell didn't go away. I took the car into chevrolet and they replaced the gas tank and the fuel pump on the drivers side because it was leaking. The repair cost 2900.00. I asked the service rep at chevrolet if the new gas tank design flaw had been fixed and he replied that he didn't know. I also had a 2006 corvette with the same problem so i have to assume it hasn't been fixed. Chevrolet hasn't fixed the problem and i'm afraid it will keep happening and my house or car will catch fire and someone may get hurt. There needs to be a recall and we should get reimbursed.
Fuel smell inside car
Fuel / gas smell ...no leaks detected. Most apparent when vehicle is stationary or garaged. Vehichle can not be garaged due to excessive gas smell and possible explosion caused by gas vapors coming from vehicle.
Gas smell after fill up of tank appears to be the high pressure line from the top of the fuel pump
A gas odor coming from the gas fill tube.
There was/is a strong fuel smell emitting from the rear left side of the car. It is very noticeable when the car is running and then parked in an enclosed area or if standing near it especially on that side. After some light inspection it seems the fuel pump high pressure line is leaking at the pump exit fitting/junction to the high pressure fuel line. This has only recently come to my attention. I assured i had the fuel cap secured and the tank is only half fuel. I can only conclude this is a faulty design or materials and is a severe safety hazard. The fuel tank or fuel system has not been worked on and shows no sign of damage. The car has just over 85,500 miles and is stored in a closed and secure private garage.gm has no recall but has updated parts and will gladly sell them to you and have their dealer repair the defective design at the owners full expense. They accept no direct responsibility for this problem and resulting repair costs yet they saw to it to update the replacement parts.
Fuel vapors coming from the fuel tank ;possible crack in fuel pump spraying fuel everywhere;i can close my garage door because i can't breathe because of the gas odor.it's worse when i put ten gallons or more
Broken gear shifter cable
Transmission shift cable end disintegrated, causing shift cable end to detach from floor shifter, causing inability to place car in park, increasing vehicle to roll away and crash.
Automatic transmission shift lever cannot be shifted from its "park" position upon starting the engine and trying to drive away. Applying the brake pedal in order to disengage from "park" position of shifter still won'tallow lever to be moved from "park". The electrical circuit can't be completed to allow disengagement of shifter. This happens perhaps one out ofevery six or seven times you wish to drive the car. One must sit and make several attempts over several minutes to free the shifter. Very embarassing if you are in a line of cars at a gas station or fast-food take-out line. Manyother corvette owners have this same issue from years 2005 up to 2013.
The contact owns a 2010 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that when driving 65 mph and above downhill, the vehicle would shake violently when releasing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they advised him that the vehicle was designed to function in that manner. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 6,000. The current mileage was approximately 23,000. The vin was unavailable.
Convertible top never worked correctly. Brought it to the chevy dealer, they charged me $1050.21, and still is not correct. It never worked correctly from new.
The driver door will not open using either the inside nor outside electronic button. Yes, there is a lever on the floor and one in the trunk. Both operate a cable to unlatch the door. The door jam release latch fails at an alarming rate. Salvage yards, ebay, amazon etc have run out of the parts forcing a purchase from gm. Corvette forums and youtube videos abound with talk of replacing these at a cost of $400 at the dealer!! being able to reach the trunk release or even the floor release in the event of an accident would often be difficult to impossible. Gm seems to see this as a money making proposition since the 215,125 cars produced with this feature were never fixed. Gm needs to do something about the expensive replacement cost of such a basic safety feature that fails so often.
My complaint is not about a component failure, but rather an inadequate component, specifically the goodyear f1 supercar tires that came as standard equipment on my 2010 corvette grand sport coupe.these tires are the absolute worst to hydroplane of any tires on any vehicle i have driven in my 45+ years of driving experience.they are absolutely unsafe at any speed when there is water on the road.i have approached the dealer and chevrolet on multiple occasions as to what i can do to remedy this situation and have been stonewalled at every step.i have talked to other owners and many of them have swapped out the standard issue goodyears for michelins at a cost of around $2000 and that seems to fix the problem.i was not able to get my dealer or chevrolet to confirm this. Their answer is to replace them with the same tire that came with the vehicle.my car is nearly two years old and has less than 5000 miles on it, so tire wear is not the issue.the z06 and zr1 models come standard with michelins and i think the grand sport should as well.i know it is too late for me, but new owners should not have to replace new tires with very expensive replacements in order to be safe when driving in the rain.
I decided to write this complaint since i am very concerned about my corvette and the continued issues i am having with the active handling system and the traction control system. The service department has investigated the problem with the active handling system and the traction control system at least three times already. The first time the vehicle was in for maintenance was on june 14th. The technician stated that he ensured all the connectors were tightened, reset the codes and the car was ready. On friday june 25th i dropped off the vehicle for the 2nd time with the same problem (service active handling system and the traction control system). I was contacted by a john sauder service department representative around 12:30 pm that day who apprised me that my car was ready for pick up after the service was completed. I picked up the car and drove less than 30 miles when the car again went into 'reduced power mode' and the same error codes appeared (service active handling system and the traction control system) this was on june 26th. The car was serviced again on june 27th for the identical issue and returned to me on july 1st.after driving the vehicle for several miles i received the identical messages at 1330 miles. When the car was in for service on june 27th john dauder chevrolet stated that the problem was identified and that the service department had corrected the issue. The service manager stated that the issue was caused by the personal audio link (pal) installed at the dealership and that removing the pal would eliminate the problem. That was premature.to date, i have driven the car less than 1350 miles. From the time i purchased the vehicle it has been out of service for more than 18 days and has been in the shop for service 13 days not counting the fact that iwill drop off the car for service on july 13, 2010 because of the same issue the 4th time.
Automatic shifter control failure: shifter fails suddenly and only allows driver to select n (neutral) or d (d) drive. Will not allow vehicle to be put into (p) park or (r) reverse. This disables the door controls and the vehicle cannot be exited in a fast manner.and prevents the driver from parking the vehicle without taking alternative measures to prevent the car from rolling.provides a unsafe situation for the vehicle occupants.
The pedal/ throttle body circuit has issues has you are driving the car goes on limb mode, i almost got crashed into, i looked online and there is hundreds of complains including the trucks as well.
