The air bag light has come on. Car has a clean car fax.
I was driving the car through a residential area when the red air bag warning light in the instrument panel went on.i pulled the car to the side of the road and shut it off.upon restarting the car, the light stayed on after the lamp tests completed.i then moved the driver's seat forward a bit (the car has power memory seats) and the light went off. I continued driving the car on a couple of errands w/o the light coming back on.
Took off in first gear quickly to get across traffic and noticed the air bag light came on. Shut the car off for a while and started it again and the light is still on which means the air bag system is not operable.
Airbag warning light intermittent. Seat belt pretensioner not locking. Airbag light will appear after moving seat or during spirited driving.
Air bag malfunction light came on, when i started the car.took the car to the dealer, who reported both the drivers side and passenger side seat air bags had internal failures and needed to be replaced.
Airbag light comes on intermittently for no apparent reason
Airbag system warning light stays on while driving. Problem is intermittent and appears to be affected by positioning of the passenger seat.
Air bag warning light comes on indicating the air bag restraint system is faulty or will not properly work in the case of a crash.
Air bag light stays on
Air bag warning light, comes on and goes off intermittently, on during braking and off during braking. Similar to nhtsa 10564432.
Air bag lights intermittently.can elicit light by just moving seat around.it will spontaneously come on and turn off.
Air bag malfunction light turns on intermittently when car goes over a bump, or during quick stop, or sharp turn. This light indicates that the air bags will not deploy. Possibly related to the wiring harness underneath the seats.since the light comes on during hard steering motion, bump, or rapid deceleration, i assume the air bags are unlikely to deploy during a crash.
The air bag sensor light comes on which disables the system.checking on the internet, this is a common problem with the c6 corvettes.the dealer acts as if they have never heard of it.that can not be true.my partner has a 2009 c6 and had the same issue.this has to be a safety issue.
Air bag sensor light domes on at various times, for no apparent reason.
The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet corvette. While driving approximately 20 mph, the headlights shut off independently. The failure occurred multiple times at various speeds. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v251000 (electrical system, exterior lighting). The approximate failure mileage was 114,000. .updated 09/30/14 the consumer stated the incident happened when the vehicles temperature was over 100 degrees. The consumer could no longer drive the vehicle when the headlights were on. Updated 10/07/14
2009 c6 chevrolet corvette coupe 1. My wife & i got into acr to back out of garage. The battery failed when i pressed ignition button. We were locked in car which has no manual door handles.2. We escaped vehicle by removing roof panel and climbing out of roof. 3. Car towed to dealer who informed us of emergency driver side door release in the back hatch on rear wheel well that must be pulled toward back of car. If inside car, passenger must crawl between seats to access the release. Was not informed of this release at time of purchase.this vehicle is a death trap if the battery or electrical system fails or if the driver side door release cable snaps or jams in an accident. Emergency escape requires climbing through roof or into back hatch - elderly people could not do what we had to do to exit the car. There should be manual release for both doors on the doors. The batteries used by gm for these cars are notorious for quick drawdown & should be replaced at gm's expense with quality batteries such as odyssey pc1200.
My remote control would not activate the door locks.i took the battery out of the remote and tapped it on the ground a few times and the remote worked.upon entering the vehicle, the remote stopped working again.this means that the car would not recognize me being in the vehicle.i was trapped for several minutes with no air in the vehicle.i kept hitting the remote and the vehicle recognized my remote again.i immediately took the remote and had the battery changed.upon getting the remote changed, the vehicle failed to recognize my remote control again.this is very dangerous and could cause someone to suffocate if they were not able to climb through the back hatch of a z06 corvette to pull the hatch release.i am not sure as to whether or not the emergency lever would work, as technically the vehicle still had battery power.i still do not know if this is a battery issue, electrical issue, or remote control issue.again, this is extremely dangerous, especially in a hot car with no air due to everything being electronic.
While driving on i-275 i first experienced a muffled noise in the car that sounded like wind.the car was not holding the road as it usually does and the rear swayed a bit.next, there was a sound like a thump.my dashboard lit up like a christmas tree with a warning that traction control was not working and that i should seek immediate repair.next, the vehicle lost a lot of its power and decelerated rather suddenly form 70 to approx 45 mph.car had no energy or pep and light said engine power loss.fortunately nobody was behind me whenthe deceleration occurred.i exited the expressway and was justfew miles from hotel and parked it. Had it towed the next day to a dealer in tampa.do not yet know diagnosis on the car.will probably hear tomorrow.but it was a real shock to have this happen so suddenly and the deceleration was sudden and if car had been behind me it could have been a problem.

The power in my car (2009 chevrolet corvette) turned off after i entered the car and shut the door. Since the doors are operated electrically i could not open the doors to get out. In order to exit the car i had to remove the removable hardtop and climb out of the car. If i did not have a removable hardtop i would not have been able to exit the car without assistance. This is the first time that the car has lost electrical power/shut down after i have entered the car.i have not taken the car to the dealer to fix the problem.

Ebcm was recalled on several other gm products but not the corvette, but the forum said a problems exists. I have 100,030 miles and the'service handling system ' warning is on which can be imitated from the ebcm.
I am an owner of a 2009 corvette z06 which repeatedly displays the following messages:"service traction control" and "service active handling."my vin is:[xxx]while i have not detected any operational interventions myself, other owners have reported sudden erratic braking causing the vehicle to change direction.obviously, this is a very serious safety issue.i appreciate your efforts to ensure that gm rectifies this defect before further damage occurs.my understanding is that the recall involving this issue (nhtsa no: 10v172000) is limited to my 2005 and 2006.at a minimum, and immediately, this recall should be extended through my 2009 to include defective vehicles like mine.
The service abs system, service active handling system and service traction control system alerts came on after simply starting the car.car ran sluggish.my understanding is that this is a known issue for earlier years corvettes: tsb 06.02.35.002a and tsb 06.02.35.002b.but my corvette is a 2009 and i have the same exact problem.i have a telescoping steering wheel set to automatically retract and extend.
Valves were out of spec it came from the factory this way
Gm denies any sort of wide spread issue with respect to the manufacturing/assembly of the cylinder heads for the ls7 engine.there have been numerous catastrophic engine failures as a result of a broken valve head dropping into the cylinder and subsequently blowing a hole through the motor, causing fluids to leak all over the road, and complete loss of control of the vehicle.the symptoms are premature valve guide wear, which eventually become so worn that the valve closes on the wrong angle to the seat, and off breaks the valve head.the issue appears to be poor valve guide to valve seat concentricity, which leads to premature valve guide wear.my 2009 z06 corvette at only 15,000 street driven miles was inspected by a reputable third party repair facility, and discovered that 14/16 valve guides were beyond gm's service limit, and the remaining 2/16 were right at the limit.this is something that shouldn't occur until 150,000 miles at least...not 15,000. There needs to be an investigation before more catastrophic failures occur.there are hundreds if not thousands of documented occurrences.
I became aware of a potential valve guide wear issue with the ls7 and ls9 engines through the corvette forum, the corvette action center, and other sources.i began researching the issue and decided that i should have my car checked out at a gm dealership.it was determined that the valve train noise appeared to be normal and the engine was not burning or using any excessive oil.the more i followed the valve guide wear issue, the more concerned i became.that being said and the fact that the dealer had never heard of or had any customer come in for the issue i decided to have a local performance engine shop (because of their extensive ls7 experience) install a reworked set of heads with bronze valve guides with additional parts recommend by the shop, to fix the problem permanently, based on their knowledge with the issue.my original heads were evaluated for valve guide wear and 'every intake and exhaust valve guide was outside of the gm service bulletin service limit of .0037 with the #8 intake valve being so far out that it was deemed n/r (so loose it was too big for the gauge readout).the vehicle only had 7500 miles on it.88% of the corvette forum members who have had their cylinder heads tested for excessive valve guide wear, were out of service specifications. Source: http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...-registry.htmlgm needs to issue a recall on this issue, there have been numerous engine failures as a result of a dropped valve into a cylinder which can cause accidents and fires. Engine valve train subject to complete failure due to improper manufacture causing a total engine failure an possible loss of control at speed.
I experienced an engine failure.this resulted in a sudden and complete loss of power at an unexpected time.this occurred during a high performance driver education event at auto club speedway in fontana, ca.there was no warning before the moment the engine failed.the cause of the failure was the head of one of the exhaust valves separated from the valve stem and fell into the cylinder, destroying the cylinder head, piston and cylinder wall.the engine model in my 2009 corvette is the ls7.a google search on 'ls7 dropped valves' will fill many pages.
I was concerned about excessive valve train noise and after reading several corvette forum threads and speaking to numerous chevrolet mechanics about improperly machined heads by gm's supplier linamar, and that numerous vehicles have had valves drop and ruin the engines. This has happened on completely stock vehicles. People with less than 20000 miles have lost motors. 88% of the corvette forum members who have had their cylinder heads tested for excessive valve guide wear, were out of service specifications. Gm is very aware of this issue, but refuses to do anything about this huge safety risk to drivers, passengers, and nearby vehicles if the engine fails going down the road. If the engine fails due to dropping a valve, the engine will immediately shut off, which cuts off power steering and power braking. This is a very huge safety concern.
There was a manufacturing error made during engine build with the valve guides.they are making a noise currently.this can cause the engine to fail abruptly and consequently one could lose power (engine) and thus loose braking assist & power steering assist and can cause a crash & could be fatal.
I was concerned about excessive valve train noise and after reading several corvette forum threads about improperly machined heads by gm's supplier linamar, and that numerous vehicles have had valves drop and ruin the engines, i took my car with 7800 miles on it to a corvette specialty shop ( katech) to have my valve guide clearance tested. I had (5) intake valve guides outside of service specifications, (4) exhaust valve guides outside of service specifications, and a combination of (3) other intake and exhaust valve guides at or near the maximum outside of service specifications. I had a valve drop and threw a rod thru my engine traveling at highway speeds on a busy highway. I lost engine power, power steering, and spilled oil and other chemicals onto the roadway. A thick cloud of smoke billowed from underneath and out the back of the car making it unsafe for cars traveling behind me. The dealer who has since inspected my car has stated it is a known issue that the "lifters are weak". After quite a bit of reading, it appears many other owners of the same car have experienced a multitude of issues with valves, lifters, heads, etc. Gm is aware of faulty parts but i cannot find any notice of recalls. Make/model: 2009 corvette z06; engine: ls7.
Had to have cylinder heads rebuilt because manufacturing issue with valve guids wearing quickly out of spec and if not corrected destroying the entire motor.i got a check engine light with misfire which was caused by worn guides.sent heads into be rebuilt and found out that they were way out of spec.some at .030 and spec cut off at .006

My son's car blew up while traveling on the freeway almost causing an accident. He will file a separate complaint. There is a systemic problem with the z06 and the 427 engine so i had my heads checked as a preventative measure and they were far enough out of spec that self destruction was imminent.the heads were checked and replaced by a chevrolet dealer. There are hundreds of examples of this problem on the corvette forum and it's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured.i sincerely hope you will look into this problem in time to perhaps save someone's life.
The ls7 engine is known to have bad 2 piece exhaust valves that come apart and fall into the cylinder resulting in a catastrophic engine failure that requires an entire new engine.this happened to me this past march 2015.gm needs to issue a recall on this issue, there have been numerous engine failures as a result of a dropped valve into a cylinder which can cause accidents and fires. Gm is very aware of this issue, but refuses to do anything about this huge safety risk to drivers, passengers, and nearby vehicles if the engine fails going down the road.

Valve guide measurements were out of specifications at 5k miles
Valve guides worn - all- out of specification at 30k miles, heads removed and valve guides and exhaust valves replaced.
The engine exhaust valve guides were outside of gm specifications and both cylinder heads were replaced under warranty because of this. This defect can cause the head of a valve to snap off and destroy the engine. The engine will stop working immediately, causing the power steering and power brakes systems to fail. The valve failure can cause a oil spill onto the road if the engine is destroyed. My engine experienced valve guide failure while driving which resulted in a complete loss of power and spilled oil all over the road. The entire engine was destroyed. If i had not been able to pull over safely it could have been very dangerous.
I was concerned about excessive valve train noise and after reading several corvette forum threads about improperly machined heads by gm's supplier linamar, and that numerous vehicles have had valves drop and ruin the engines, i took my car with 37,000 miles on it to courtesy chevrolet / cadillac to have my valve guide clearance tested. I had (3) intake valve guides outside of service specifications, (7) exhaust valve guides outside of service specifications, and a combination of (11) other intake and exhaust valve guides at or near the maximum outside of service specifications. The cost of proper re-machining of the heads to make the valve guides concentric, new intake and exhaust valve guides installed, as well as new seals, valves, springs, etc. Is something i simply cannot afford at the moment with the downturn of the oilfield industry.please bear in mind, my car had a replacement ls7 engine from a dropped exhaust valve before i owned it, so this has already happened to my car once. It occurred at 22xxx miles, and can have the gm dealer print a copy of the ro line to prove it. This is occurring at an alarming rate, but after our warranty period, we the consumer are left out to dry.88% of the corvette forum members who have had their cylinder heads tested for excessive valve guide wear, were out of service specifications. Valve guide issue causing failure to brakes, and power steering, as well as engine blowing
Although my car is a 2009 it only has 300 miles on it.the zo6 model which has the "ls7 engine has a known valve issue with both intake and exhaust being out of spec and wearing rapidly.i had a "wiggle test" done on all my valves.more than half of the 16 valves were out of spec.if the issue is not correct a valve will drop and a new engine will be required.
Regarding the cylinder heads, i am one of hundreds that experienced intake and exhaust valves that were out of specification due to inadequate cylinder head design and valve guides.as a result, i needed to have my heads replaced with rebuilt heads and new valve guides.the uploaded document highlights the measurements on the valves as being out of specification after they were tested upon removal from my vehicle.on an engine with only 11,000 miles at the time, this is alarming.hundreds others have experienced the same defect.this is a safety issue as when a valve drops, it falls into the engine having the effect of potentially immediately seizing it up which would then cause the car to lock the rear wheels and lose control
The engine had an exhaust valve failure causing the motor to lock up and requiring over $5000 in repairs.when this happened the car was forced to be stopped on the highway without power brakes or steering.
The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the headlights shut off without manual force, causing the contact to have to use the fog lights. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 41,000.
2005-2010 corvette c6 models have front headlight issue of stem and lens cracks
I was driving on the freeway late at night, after driving for 25 minutes, and the road in front of me suddenly got dark. I thought that a freeway marker light had gone out, but after looking in front of me, i realized i had no headlights. I pulled off the freeway to a gas station and checked all my other lights, and my parking lights were working, my fog lights were working, my high beams were working, and my tail lights were still working. My headlights, or low beams, were the only thing that went out. I had to drive an hour and a half to reach my destination with my high beams on, which probably pissed off a lot of people on the freeway. When i reach my destination, i checked all the fuses for the low beams in the fuse box, and they were all good. I pulled the relay fuse out and then put it back, and the headlights were still not working. The next morning, i checked the lights again and tried all positions of the switch on my steering column, and the headlights worked. Once i started driving the car the headlights quit working again. Again, all other lights were still working including my tail lights, fog lights, and high beams. Later in the evening the next day, the headlights came on when the column switch was in the auto position, and they stayed on during a 20-minute drive down the freeway. They now seem to be working intermittently, and i do not know what the cause is as i'm not getting any error codes and my computer is not reporting any faults. This is very dangerous as most of my time is spent driving. I have checked the forums online for people with the same situation as mine, and they all reported that the actual wiring into the fuse box is faulty. There is no report of this from the manufacturer of my car, and i think people should know about this. It's very scary to get stuck out in the dark on a highway that is not lit and not have any headlights.
My 09 corvette base model lt1's tail lights went out after i removed and reinstalled the fuse block. I checked all fuses and relays and they show to be good. Brake lights work as should as well as turn signals but all five tail lights will not illuminate when turn on. Upon further research this shows to becoming a more common problem among early c6 model corvettes. Tailights will randomly go out and process to be a tail light harness issue. I have talked to a local dealership and they show to not have any problems of safety recalls on file for the issue. I feel this is a safety issue for the drivers and fellow drivers on the road. The dealership also does not know the issue orsolution to the issue. I want to at least note that this is an issue that needs to addressed for safety concerns and looked into for possible solutions to the issue.
The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that the headlights failed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the headlights needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.
The low beam headlights just sporadically shut off while the car was being driven.

Strong odor of gas in garage, dealer determined problem to be faulty fuel module, crack discovered with smoke test. The gas smell was so strong i was afraid to leave the car in the garage for fear of an explosion or fire, i notified chevrolet and their only reply was thank you for being a gm customer. Cost of repair was $2731.39, which gm refused to reimburse saying car was no longer under warranty. Updated 3/15/16
09 corvette will only take half-tank of gas,auto-shutoff. To fill tank have to turn nozzle upside down to fill. This method causes fuel over flow and spillage on the ground. Dealer says it is gas pumps here in california that are at fault and not the corvette. 28 million cars that the pumps work on. This leads me to believe that there will be a fire involved accident as well as pollution escaping from the fill nozzle.. There are 14 other corvettes here with the same problem. Gm says it is not their problem. Help b4 one of us gets burned to death. It is also defeating the fume recovery system and releasing most into the atmosphere.
Fuel leaking rear drivers side possible fuel pump asked about recall was told it was not a recall item then found multiple complaints of the same issue and same model car has less than 40,000 miles.
Fuel and vapor leak. Fire hazard
A strong fuel odor is coming out from the drivers side rear. Whenever i fill up the odor is present. When i'm under 1/2 tank odor is gone. It's only when i have a full tank. Gm has issued a "special coverage adjustment" for 2007-2013 corvettes.the # is n150682. Gm said mine is currently not covered even though i have all the same symptoms. My car is a 2009 with only 37,000 miles.
Strong smell if gas after filling up. Gas is leaking after i fill up.
Fuel leak approximately 6" inside left rear tire location..
Smelling gas when i fill up my gas tank
Fuel pump stop working 5 years ago. And i never got it fix cost is high. Well when i went in to have it fix this year 2017. I was told there is good news. There is a recall on the fuel pumps, but then next day. I was told my vehicle has to many miles.i never was sent a letter or new about this.it is not right. I need new fuel pumps.will you please take off the mile limit. And allow us or me to get my car fix
Detect a strong gas odor after having been parked in a closed garage overnight. I have noticed this problem each morning for one week now the vehicle has 41,600 miles on it.
For the last couple weeks, i've noticed an increasing fuel smell emanating from my corvette's driver side rear wheel well.the fuel vapor smell is now at the point where i need to park my vehicle outside.after researching the issue, i've come across numerous reports of covette c6 owners reporting the same issue.the consensus seems to be that hairline cracks develop on the top of the fuel tanks causing fuel to leak on and down the side of the tank.obviously this could lead to a serious fire hazard if it were to leak on to the vehicles exhaust.with the amount of c6 owners reporting this same issue and the potential for extreme fire hazard, i feel that gm should address the issue.
After filling my car up with gas and parked it overnight in the garage, the next morning my entire garage smelled like gas.i didn't think anything of it but the smell was inside and outside of my car as i drove and/or parked it anywhere.i left it outside of my garage until i didnt notice the smell anymore at which point i parked it inside the garage.i noticed that the issue only starts when there is more than half a tank of gas.once the fuel gauge drops to under half a tank, the smell goes away.i took it to two separate dealerships that did smoke tests and visual checks and they do not see any issues, even though the smell is there with more than half a tank (in both occasions the tanks were more than half and the dealer noticed the smell but did not see any issues and attributed it to my vehicle running rich, even after i told them the smell went away when the fuel gauge was under half a tank).it is apparent to me that there is an issue, a dangerous one at that since gas fumes are highly flammable and the hot exhaust pipes run in between the tanks themselves.after further research, it appears that there is a plastic piece on the top of the fuel pump that seems to be the issue and ends up having small cracks.there are multiple corvette owners that have reported the same issue and have had to replace the part at their expense (an expensive proposition at that).please investigate this issue as soon as you can.i am concerned there may be a major fault which will/can cause an injury due to the nature of the problem (ie: gas fumes and hot exhaust pipes).
I've noticed a fuel smell coming from the vehicle after driving. My mechanic found leaking fuel from the top of the gas tank. There was a recall for this defect.
Major gas smell coming into the car and outside the car. Can smell it ten feet away in the parking garage. It appears to be a fuel leak in the fuel pump.
Smell gasoline
After fuel tank is filled past 1/2 full, smell of fuel in my garage until fuel capacity goes below 1/2 full.
2nd occurance in 6 monthsi went to fill my car with gas.filled it up and gas gauge went to 0. Engine light came on, fuel system warning came on and then low fuel warning.drove a few miles and gas gauge went up and down over and over again.just called dealer and he wants $2000 to replace fuel sending unit. I have read a half dozen corvette forums and this is a popular problem for c-5and c6 corvettes.you would think chevy would have figured out the fsu is defective and needs to be recalled
Heavy fuel smell coming from the left fuel tank
Read about fuel smell- ie crack plastic connector of fuel pump. I am really concerned of parking in garage with pilot lights of gas heaters. Also did not get notice on emission (cat. Converter replacement).
Fuel smell after fully filling the gas tank.know issue under special coverage bulletin 15682 by gm.
Fuel smell comming from gas tank went to dealer where i purchased the car from it ws a used cardealer told me it would it would about 4,000 doller to fix it was a cracked filler line and crossover tubeafter a lot of complaning about it ended up costing me 1200 dollers.
When i park my vehicle in my garage i have a strong gasoline smell from car.especially when i fill my gas tank. Afraid one of tanks is leaking may drip on hot exhaust and explode
Car parked in the garage and next morning, i smell gasoline order coming around gas filler neck and inside the car. I look under the car and found small amount of gasoline coming from the top of the tank.
Strong gas smell coming from the drivers side rear. (when parked in garage)my car is a 2009 corvette with 40,500 miles. Car was at dealer for a month, still not fix, waiting for parts. Call gm was told parts will be in by 10/17/2016 two more months of waiting.
Car constantly smells like gasoline coming from under, inside and around car. There isn't any puddles but smells strong i recently bought the car and it smells like it already stationary when smell
Dealer indicates a leak in the driver side fuel tank.strong smell of gas every time vehicle is refueled. Vehiclehas approx. 39000 miles and has never been in an accident.
Problem with strong fuel smell and it is coming from behind the driver seat.
My 2009 corvette (base model) is experiencing fuel vapor leak. There are no liquid leaks visible beneath the car, or on the garage floor. The smell of fuel is more intense toward the drivers rear quarter panel, near the filler tube. I have changed my gas tank cap and this made no difference. The smell of fuel persists.the smell is not present inside the car, or while in motion. The smell is strongest when the fuel tank is filled and seems to diminish when fuels is 1/2 tank or below. I am concerned of fire in the car, or in my garage, attached to my house.
There is a strong gas odor coming from the fuel filler tube (driver's side) area and an even stronger smell on the inside of the cockpit. But there are no visible leaks on the driver way (inclined) or garage floor. And there are no visible wet areas under the tanks or tank shields. Gas odor is related to gm bulletin #15682 datedjuly 2016.
Strong gasoline smell when tank is more than 1/2 full.can't leave vehicle parked in enclosed places, or drive with the windows up.gas smell is strongest around the drivers side rear tire.
Car has a smell of gasoline especially after i fill up my tank, i never over fill the tank, when i park in my garage my whole garage smells like gasoline.i smell it more when th care is stationery .
Smell of fuel in cabin while driving or parked.
I have a 2009 corvette with about 68,000 miles. For my last three tanks of gas, i have noticed the smell of gas coming from within the driver side rear wheel area when the fuel tank is more than half full. The smell fills my entire garage at night, and the smell is very strong. Even when parked outside, the smell of gas is recognizable from about ten feet away. The smell is also present while driving with the windows down. The dealership did a pressure test, smoke test, and visual checks. They were unable to find any issues, even though everyone agreed that they could smell gas from the rear driver side wheel area.after thoroughly researching this issue on the corvette forum, it seems that the problem is most likely related to the fuel pump, which is most likely cracked. A rather large number of people have reported identical symptoms. The problem is difficult to diagnose, because there are no visual signs of a leak, and the dealership seemed at a loss as to what might be causing this problem. Moreover, this is a dangerous issue, because gas is highly flammable and very hot exhaust pipes run directly in between the two gas tanks.
Gasoline smell really bad in cab. No evidence of fuel leak on garage floor. Seems to be coming from top of tank, maybe.. Garage fills with these gasoline fumes. I am concerned about the damage this could cause. Seems an on going issue with 2008-2009 year models. Waiting your reply..
Takata recall when the fuel tank is above 1/2 is smell like fuel in my garage there a recall i have it at the dealership service writer call gmc and told him that they only cover 30 %,it was do at the end of the year or 120,000mil i don't have none of those it below mil and time
My fuel gauge would not record any fuel level after filling the tank and driving for approximately one quarter of the tank of fuel.the gauge would drop to "empty".this triggered the check engine light, and an error code, resulting innot being able to pass my car inspected in az, where it is registered. I was charged $2300.00 by the dealer to fix this problem in order to be able to use my car. This presents a problem of possibly running out of gas while in the passing lane of a highway. Fortunately this did not happen to me.
After filling the gas tank there is a strong gas smell present.once the gas level is below half tank, the odor is gone.online research points to the crossover tube, fuel pump, evap system etc
I recently filled car with fuel , after fueling i noticed extrem fuel smell inside the vehicle after parked for several hours i noticed a large area of fuel had ran out driver side fuel tank area onto the ground and smell of fuel was extensive . I called koons chevrolet in tyson corner virginia where i porched it and described the problem to them , i took the car to them . I was told they have dignoset the problem , after few days the contact me and told me that the fuel modul was leaking on driver side fuel tank and there is a special coverage bullten warranty for just that filar on 07-09 corvette of the same model as mine. They told they would order the parts and call me when the came in , parts were in week and made an appointment and took it back to be repaired under warranty . They called me the next morning and told me because my vin # was not included in special coverage bullten that they would not be repairing the car under warranty . I was very upset no worried about my safety and others by having a car that leaks all over the road . They told me it would cost me $2700 to be repaired and want me to pay for it . I told me that i don't have $2700 and what should i do ? they dealer told me to not to put much fuel in it unbelivable to me . I have contact gm customer service and opened a case with them but i haven't heard anything back but sorry for your luck emailes . I'm very frustrated and worried about my son driving it to school and work . Leaking fuel is no joke especially if i'm in traffic a day somebody throws a cigarette under car i would lose my son or hurt others . Please help me with this situation before it's too later . I don't know what else to do .
I bought this car last year on september, the car for just 3500 miles, on november that year i put my car in storage, i picked my car up this year on march. Two months ago, i realized that after fueling my car a really strong smell like gas was present, i checked underneath both i couldn't see any leakage, but i checked the driver's side gas tank and it was kind of wet, i saw traces of gas droplets. I found online that gmc posted a bulletin to get fixed this issue on lots of c6 corvettes, i took that bulletin to the dealer and they said that the time for that bulletin expired last year on june, i explained to them that i got the car on september and also my car just had 3500 miles, but the said that if i want my car to get fixed i have to pay. I told me that it's not fair because this issue is gmc fault. This is why i'm filling this complain with you. I was able just to upload one pic but i have more, showing the gas tank wet.*dt
Very strong gas smell when the tank is filled. Filled garage with smell. Was afraid to start car. Pushed out of garage and let sit for 2 days. Started and drove to dealership.
There is a strong smell of gas in the whole cockpit after filling up. I don't over fill the car and i try not to get any drops spewing when filling up. The smell is stronger on the rear side of driver. I can smell gas in my garage when i park it in.
Strong fuel smell and leak on driver side noticed after fueling only to around 3/4 tank has been this way since 19800mi when i bought the car i smelt gas but only on 11/23/20 have i seen fuel on the ground
Noticeable fuel smell when sitting in the car, and in garage when car has been parked for a few hours. It is this issue: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c6-corvette-general-discussion/3563123-danger-fuel-leaks-safety-recall.html.
This is my second complaint.when i fill my gas tank above 1/2 a tank i get a strong smell of gasoline in my garage and in my car.i filed a complaint with the ag and watson chevy had my car for 4 days and supposedly fixed the issue. It is now back.every time i fuel up and i do not fill my car to full only just above half a tank and i still get this strong smell
Fuel smell after filling up gas tank.apparently the gas pump on drivers side made of plastic has tendency to crack.gm had previously paid for this repair but limited coverage to 10 yrs and/or 120 thousand miles.bought new to me 2009 vette with 132k miles, delaer now wanting to charge $3300 for parts/labor.cannot park in garage due to gas fumes, also dangerous to drive.
Heavy fuel odor from car when parked in garage. No gasoline drip on floor.
Significant gasoline fumes in garage after filling the gas tank and storing the car overnight. Gasoline smell obvious when driving with the targa top is on. Worse smell when the top is off. Fumes are mostly gone after the gas tank level drops below half.
Every time you fill up your gas tank to full there is some gas leakage and car smells of gas. I stop at 3/4 and do not seem to have a problem. I have 3 gm cars and this is the only one that has this problem.
Fuel leaking from around fuel tank. Possibly from fuel pump area. Strong gas smell fills garage over night. Gas can also be smelt inside of the car while driving. This happens regardless of the amount of fuel in the gas tank, but is more noticeable when tank is 1/2 or more full.
Strong fuel smell in the garage when it's parked. Even after days of being parked. No fuel leaking on the floor. Car is 3/4 to full of gas when parked. Only has 49000 miles on it.
I'm purchased the vehicle a month ago and ever since i had it it gives out a fuel smell sometimes it smeel a lot and other times it's not as noticeable
Purchased a 2009 corvette in feb.2016 from private sale. When purchased seller said he has been smelling gas for a long time so he parked it outside and covered it. I took vech. To fill up with fuel no gas smell drove home parked in my house garage. Around 8:pm wife woke me up around 7:am next morning said gas smell in garage very bad can hardley breath. Went out and sure enough bad open all doors. Looked under car and hood no sign of gas or not a strong smell. Soon as i get buy fuel filler drivers side smell very strong. Went on corvette form they was a saftey alert about the whole thing dozen of complaint about the gas smell. Still smells if you fill it over half a tank so have to keep car outside and cover. Gm needs to do something about this before someone burns down there home or car up. I was told gm is well awhare of this don't understand why they don't have a recall. Always trusted gm just bought new silverodo love it please try and get this fixed don't need to here about any more people getting hurt or worse because some dude sitting in his office dosent really care.
When i fill my car with gas above 1/2 a tank.i notice my fuel gauge goes to full and then to empty and i get a warning light that states service fuel system.i also notice a strong odor of gas when i park in my garage.
Gas smell in and around car. Usually after filling the gas tank.
Strong gas smell after filling up gas tank. Can be smelled in car and overwhelms garage if tank is over half full.
Fuel leak from top of tank drivers side - dangerous
Hi, i bought the corvette used. The first time i filled it all the up with gas i noticed a very strong gas smell the next day in my garage. I hoped it would go away or it was just something i wasn't aware of about the car since i just bought it used. The next time i filled it up the same thing the whole garage smelled like gas the next day. Did some research online and found out there are allot of the c6 corvettes with this defect. If you fill the car up over half full gas leaks from the top of the tank down the inside and on to the tailpipe. Called the dealer and they refused to fix it or recall the defective part. Im afraid of two possible things happening either the car catching fire or the fumes igniting my gas water heater thats in the garage as well. Hope you guys can get something done about it. Thanks for your time.
Fuel odor in cabin every morning after being parked outside all night. 5 days in a row. Smell is not apparent outside of vehicle. Smell dissipates after driving a little with windows down. No check engine light. No flags on onstar diagnostics. No preceding event that would have caused damage.
Purchased used 2009 corvette z06. Immediately noticed gas smell in garage. Dissipates after sitting for several days. Immediately returns upon driving a few miles. This implies it is at least from a pressurized line (probably the fuel pump fitting.) researched corvette forums and found this is common problem on c6 corvettes usually with fuel pump fitting. Contacted gm customer assistance. They authorized dealer to confirm leak. Dealer did so.requested gm to provide repair or at least provide replacement parts. Gm refused.these gas tanks and fuel pumps sit immediately behind the seats in a corvette and very close to the exhausts. Come on nhtsa. Do a recall on these fuel pumps before people die from fires or explosions.
2009 corvette z06, very strong odor of fuel both in cab and outside of vehicle!!! looked under car on drivers side and was able to see wet/damp areas around fuel tank. What really sucks, is that i cant even park it in my garage.the fumes are so strong, i'm afraid something will cause the fumes to ignite and put everyone's lives in danger.i looked on alldatadiy and found a recall/service bulletin however, when i called the dealership, they said based on my vin# that my car was not affected....wtf!!!!! how can it not be? my car is doing exactly what the recall/service bulletin says.
My 2009 corvette has an increasing fuel smell emanating from my corvette's driver side rear wheel well. The fuel vapor smell is so strong that can create a dangerous situation when the car is park in the garage where my gas hot water heater is located. After researching the issue, i've come across numerous reports of covette c6 owners reporting the same issue. The consensus seems to be that hairline cracks develop on the top of the fuel tanks causing fuel to leak on and down the side of the tank. Obviously this could lead to a serious fire hazard if it were to leak on to the vehicles exhaust. With the amount of c6 owners reporting this same issue and the potential for extreme fire hazard, i feel that general motors should address the issue.i am the original owner ofthe car and never been informed by general motors about a recall or a repair to correct the problem. I hope that filing this report will help getting this problem corrected.
I have a 2009 chevrolet corvette with 30,000 miles. I started having highly gas fumes. I started reading some of the forums and noticed there were a lot of the same complaints. I brought in to a dealership for repair. They said it was a crack in the fuel module. Cost me $2,000 to repair. It was fine for about 2 weeks now i'm having the same problem. This concerns me because the fumes are so bad. I'm having to park outside until i figure this out. I'm worried for it to cause a fire in my garage.
After intermittently smelling fuel in our garage i crawled under the vehicle and noticed a wet spot on the fuel tank.the dealer found a cracked fuel tank.it separated along a seam.it was leaking fuel when it was over 1/2 full.the vehicle has less than 40,000 miles and i feel it should have been covered as a recall as i have seen many owners have reported a fuel smell.this is an extremely dangerous manufacturing defect.
Strong gasoline smell whenever the tank is more than half full.so strong that i can smell gasoline in the house if the car has been parked in the attached garage overnight.i am concerned that the high concentration of gasoline vapor might b e a fire hazard to the house.i am also concerned that gasoline could touch the exhaust and catch fire while driving.no odor whatsoever when the tank is below half full.
Constant smell of gasoline coming from the left rear of the car.
This is happening intermittently, but frequently:automatic transmission shifter stays locked in park, despite engine running and foot firmly on the brake pedal. Can't shift out of park.this happens when car is parked, starting it up and trying to shift into reverse or drive.the problem has something to do with the electronic/mechanical interlock of the automatic transmission. There is an electronic switch or solenoid that is malfunctioning, the prevents the mechanical transmission lock from disengaging.to workaround the problem, you can try to:- turn the car off, and restart it. After multiple tries, if you are lucky the transmission interlock may release successfully.- there is an emergency workaround procedure where by putting the car in accessory mode before starting it, you can bypass the interlock system.- the chevrolet dealers i have heard from recommend replacing the entire shifter system for $700-$1000.but the new shifters have the very same design problem!so new shifters are susceptible to the same failures in the future!when googling this issue on the internet forums, it appears this is a well-known problem affecting "6th-generation" corvettes manufactured between 2005 and 2013. (i have a 2009 model.)apparently gm has known about this problem for years, but has not invested in any recall.as a result, it appears many owners are choosing to disable the transmission interlock since it is unreliable.i would like to urge gm to issue a recall to fix this problem.
Car will not start with transmission in park. Battery is new and fully charged. Previous to this the transmission shifter cable failed suddenly leaving me stuck in park.
The engine had an exhaust valve failure causing the motor to lock up and requiring over $5000 in repairs.when this happened the car was forced to be stopped on the highway without power brakes or steering.
When getting ready to pull out of the garage the clutch went to the floor & would not come back up.
Vehicle locked in park can not move shifter to other positions.
Airbag warning light intermittent. Seat belt pretensioner not locking. Airbag light will appear after moving seat or during spirited driving.
Ebcm was recalled on several other gm products but not the corvette, but the forum said a problems exists. I have 100,030 miles and the'service handling system ' warning is on which can be imitated from the ebcm.
Engine had excessive noise. After reading several corvette complaints about improperly machined heads by general motor's supplier linamar, and that numerous vehicles have had valves drop and catastrophic engine failure, i had my car with checked at a specialty shop. I had several valve guides outside of service specifications. The car is being repaired with proper re-machining of the heads to make the valve guides concentric, new intake and exhaust valve guides installed, as well as new seals, valves, springs, etc.88% of the corvette forum members who have had their cylinder heads tested for excessive valve guide wear, were out of service specifications. Source: http://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/...-registry.htmlgm needs to issue a recall on this issue. There have been numerous engine failures as a result of a dropped valve into a cylinder.this stops the engine, power steering, and power brakes which can cause accidents and fires. Gm is very aware of this issue, but refuses to do anything about this huge safety risk to drivers, passengers, and nearby vehicles if the engine fails going down the road.regards.
The engine had an exhaust valve failure causing the motor to lock up and requiring over $5000 in repairs.when this happened the car was forced to be stopped on the highway without power brakes or steering.
Valve guide issue causing failure to brakes, and power steering, as well as engine blowing
The engine had an exhaust valve failure causing the motor to lock up and requiring over $5000 in repairs.when this happened the car was forced to be stopped on the highway without power brakes or steering.

Tl * the contact owns a 2009 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that the dashboard pad covering the passenger airbag was cracking and bubbling. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 19,000 and the current mileage was 20,000.
Unable to open drivers door from inside or outside. Had to take to dealer for repair which cost $486. Manual release only way to exit car. Is this a safety issue that should be fixed for free? have seen this being an issue for many corvette owners. Dealer replaced lock mechanism in body door jam. Works fine now but very expensive!!!
Drivers door latch failed. Unable to enter car also unable to exit without using emergency release latch below drivers side door on interior. 09 vette parked.
Strong smell of fuel in cabin and outside of car.
The inner portion of the door where the hinges attached has begun cracking that has caused the door to sag. The car has not been in a collision and the door has only been used in a normal manner. The cracking has happened slowly overtime and is continuing.
The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet corvette. While driving approximately 75 mph the vehicle became uncontrollable and would not stay in the lane. The contact was able to safely drive the vehicle home. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed the upper control arm on the rear passenger side wheel detached from the chassis. The contact stated one of the upper bolts were missing from the upper control arm. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. Theupper control arm and bolts were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000. Updated 6/8/11 updated 06/24/11

Vehicle will not shift out of park
Strong smell of fuel in cabin and outside of car.
This year i decided to buy american,so i decided on chevrolet corvette zr1,i have contacted the dealer findlay chevrolet and interestingly they want 20,000 above the sticker price,is that legal?no wonder american car companies are going under due to there greed.
My car and lots of other peoples corvettes are locking in park unable to shift into gear.
When getting ready to pull out of the garage the clutch went to the floor & would not come back up.
The contact owns a 2009 chevrolet corvette. The contact noticed when looking into the rear view mirror, the head liner drooped and obscured his vision. On three occasions, the dealer stated that they could not repair it since that was how they were made.the manufacturer was not notified. The current mileage was approximately 5,700 and the failure mileage was approximately 100.
