Read complaints for CHEVROLET CORVETTE (2007)

Air bag light comes on intermittently. Problem seems to be related to air bag connector beneath drivers seat. Moving the seat position will cause the warning lamp to come on or turn off.i'm afraid that one day i'm going to need my air bag and it's not going to deploy. It appears, from complaints on an corvette owners forum, to be a very common issue with the c6 corvette and the manufacturer doesn't seem to be addressing it.

Airbag light went off.searched forums and it is a common issue with the corvette (and other gm vehicles, apparently).used a zip tie to tighten connector to fix the problem but the vehicles should be recalled to fix the connectors under the seats.

Warning light that indicates an airbag system malfunction comes on intermittently for no reason.occurrs when vehicle is not being driven, but lights when you start the car.thia ia a serious safety issue since the airbags wont deploy when it's lit. Car only has 13,000 original miles on it.

Dash airbag service light periodically illuminated. This condition (to date), has not resulted in logging any diagnostic fault codes, i.e.; dtc(s) b0012, b0013, b0016, b0016, b0019, b0020, b0022, b0023, b0026, b0033, b0040, b0042 or b0044, this illuminated service light fault is only rectified when either; a) i manually re-positioning the driver's seat until the light turns off, or b) i physically re-positioning the yellow (side-airbag) connector located under driver's seat. Either method results in only a temporary resolve, before the problem occurs again. I assume this issue could also be true for the passenger seat too. By service notice / vin#, gm acknowledges a potential / real airbag issue in my vehicle, dated may 2016. Based on the referenced may 2016 gm service notice, and further substantiated via phone communication, gm requires that a specific diagnostic fault code be present before gm will cover any service coasts to resolve this issue. This, while knowing the existence of an impending safety issue, described in the may 2016 service notice, is uniquely independent of any requirement there must be a diagnostic fault code detected. Gm needs to accept ownership of this acknowledged well described issue. In this instances, gm shifts coast responsibility for this potential/real safety issue to the car owner. My research indicates that this issue is not unique to the chevrolet c6 corvette, but rather systemic throughout gm model types.current dealer estimate charges to perform fault diagnostics only (no fault code present), is > $290.00, plus tbd addition repair coasts. What's wrong with this scenario?

The airbag warning light comes on when there is only the driver in the vehicle. When there are two people in the vehicle the airbag warning light goes off. I have had this checked at an independent corvette mechanic and he says the parts are very expensive and not available at this time. I was wondering if you could tell me if this is a problem that has been reported by other chevy owners? where can i go to get parts? there has been no injury or accident. I would like for my airbags to work properly. In case of an accident lack of airbags could be a problem.

The air bag light illuminates intermittently at all speeds and all weather conditions.

Airbag light came, checked connectors under both driver side and passenger side seats and used a zip-tie to ensure the connectors were tight.afterwards, the airbag light went off, but the problem has returned.

Dealers refuse to repair vehicle stating the extended special coverage has expired. Airbag light will not shut off due to wire harness problem and gm knows about the problem. I tried to get the car repaired but local dealer did not have the parts. And the coverage expired. . i receive the notice in may 2016. My car met the mileage standard, less than 120 k miles and within 10 years of ownership.

Airbag light on dash turns on and off intermittently while the car is in motion.speed does not effect the problem. Problem reported to gm dealer and they replaced drivers seat belt tensionerafter about 100 miles of travel problem returned. Am very concerned air bags will not function in the event of an accident

Air bag light comes on intermittently. Problem seems to be related to air bag connector beneath drivers seat. Moving the seat position will cause the warning lamp to come on or turn off. I tightened the connectors with wire ties which made the problem less likely, however the problem still on occasion occurs. I'm very afraid that one day i'm going to need my air bag and it's not going to deploy. It appears, from complaints on an corvette owners forum, to be a very common issue with the c6 corvette and the manufacturer doesn't seem to be addressing it.

Depending on the position of the drivers seat the airbag indicator on the dash will indicate that the airbags are disabled.in the event of an accident if the airbags did not deploy it could result in serious injury or death.no event has yet to happen for my vehicle, but i feel unsafe knowing that the airbags have a defect that may result in them not being deployed.

Airbag warning light comes on and off intermittently. After reading all over and trying to figure what's wrong it appears to be a wide spread issue. It happens at random times, slow speed around town or driving at highway speeds. What i don't like is it disable's the airbag when the airbag when on. Thank you

When the engine is running (after starting) the air bag light does not de-energize.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While driving 65 mph, the passenger side air bag deployed without warning or impact, which was a safety concern. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to mccluskey chevrolet (9673 kings auto mall rd, cincinnati, oh 45249, (513) 761-1111) where it was diagnosed that the air bags needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 78,506.

The airbag light comes on often. I have found that this is a very common problem for all c6 corvettes (2005 through 2013). The problem is the connector under the drivers seat. If it is zip tied tightly by the owner, the light will go out for a while. When it comes back on, the zip tie must be replaced to get the connections to work again. Bad connector should be recalled in my opinion. Worried that when the light come on that the air bags are disabled. Very dangerous.

As i, "the owner", was driving home from work, i received the air bag warning light on the dash board cluster and moved the vehicle to the far right hand lane and slowed down, after about 15 mins the warning light went away, this happened a few times during the week untill i could have the car looked at by my tech. When i talked with my tech, he said that there were no codes and he recommend that instead of having the passenger seat in the full back position that i should move it forward a little, that way the air bag module wires would not be stressed. After moving the passenger seat forward about an inch or so the air bag warning light has not come back since, current mileage on vehicle is 164,327.

Airbag light on constantly. Never turns off. So airbag is not working. This is a life or death situation that is gms responsibility. I have researched it and it is a very widely known problem that they refuse to repair. How many deaths is too many?

The air bag warning light comes on and goes off intermittently as you drive. Speed really has no effect on when. Has come on/off as low as 20mph or as high as 80mph.

Air bag light goes on intermittently.

Air bag disengaged light on dash comes on when hitting a bump.not sure whether airbags are really not working or not. Code shows seat belt tension at fault.

Airbag readiness light comes on intermittently.seems to occur while the drivers seat is adjusted back and forth but not sure.there are hundreds of complaints about this in 2005-2007 corvettes.it occurs both stationary and in motion.

Yellow connector under drivers seat lost continuity.airbags were disabled.

The airbag light comes on for no apparent reason.

Airbag idiot light came on and stays on. There is no obd code set. Car was stationary in parking lot and was fine, came out to restart it after shopping and the warning light on the dash came on, and stayed on. Other owners seem to be reporting very similar if not identical failures,

Transmission would not shift to reverse or park when i want to park the car. Chevy dealer did temp. Fix in april 2014 (out of town and extended period to get part).problem happened again july 2014. I can drive the car and when parked i simply park where i can drive forward and apply the hand brake as it will restart in neutral.

July 03, 2012 9pm - low beam headlights failed to turn on either automatically or manually by switch.for next several days/nights the low beams would intermittently turn on when the car was cold and turn off after the car was warm. Searching the internet identified the underhood fuse block as the most likely cause, many corvette owners had experienced the same problem with the low beams and isolated their problem to this fuse block. I replaced my fuse block july 15 and the problem was fixed. I disassembled the removed fuse block with the intent of repairing it so i would have a spare fuse block if the new fuse block failed. After evaluating the design and construction of the fuse block i concluded that the fuse block will have poor long term reliability. I could repair the problem that caused the low beam headlight failure but any and every other circuit in the fuse block is vulnerable to the same failure cause. Every component/system that receives power thru this fuse block is vulnerable to eventually experiencing intermittent power problems.

My low beam headlights (left/right) have intermittent outages after the car warms up. The low beams fail without warning leaving it difficult to see the vehicle and operate the vehicle during evening, dusk and night driving.

While driving the corvette, the engine shut down with no notice. The dash indicated the vehicle had entered accessory mode. Power steering, power brakes and engine power were completely gone. Within a few seconds, the dic went from 'accessory mode' to 'shift into park'. In order to do so, i had to coast to a safe place. Once i got to a spot where i could move off the road, i shifted to park and restarted the car. It then drove on as usual, but there was no check engine light or other indicator. This happened only once this day, however occurred three additional times within 10 miles on the 23rd of july. I contacted a gm service technician who works at a chevrolet dealership and he checked for any service bulletins or recalls. There were none for the corvette. I searched the internet, and corvette forum (i am a 10 year forum member). I found numerous instances of the ignition switch in 2005-2007 corvettes failing in this manner. I located an ignition switch and replaced it. This fixed the problem in 15 minutes and for less than $50 at dealer retail. I know from other nhstc recalls on vehicles that ignition switch failures are considered a critical and dangerous failure. The failures in the corvettes should be included in these recalls. If such a failure occurred during crossing traffic or while driving in close proximity interstate traffic, the results could easily be (and may already have been) deadly. Please consider initiating a recall, or including the affected years of corvette in an existing recall. My car is now fixed due to my ability to search forums and other web based information, however most corvette owners are not as involved or as web savvy and could be involved in a long drawn out problem/diagnosis process which would put their lives at risk. Thank you.

The low-beam headlights on the c6 base model corvette 2005-2008 will stop working with out notice while driving at night. This is due to a known issue with the copper wire connections located within the fusebox. Due to defect and being close to engine bay, heat causes a break in the circuit wire that separates after the engine bay heats up (approx. 20 mins of driving) and without notice, your lights go out. Very very dangerous when driving on highways at speed.please issue a recall on the fusebox.

After starting vehicle, it will not shift out of park. It is locked into park. Vehicle could leave you stranded and in danger due to this failure.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the headlights suddenly failed and the high beam lights were required in order to view the roadway. The contact also stated that the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it diagnosed that the body control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 63,734. Updated 02/06/14*ljthe dealer stated there was an internal underhood bussed electrical center failure.

Usually after initial start and during low speed drive and occasionally on highway speed the service active handling message came on the dash. Sometimes i could stop, just shut the motor off and restart it and that would clear the message. After a few days it began warning more frequent and took longer for the message to correct itself.on 3/26/2013... Ihad the vehicle serviced, new tires and the warning message looked at by my local chevrolet dealer and the following is what they reported and assumed the needed repair.:3/27/2013 44876 checked dtcs found c0710 performed bulletin 06-02-35-002b and installed "clip" in steering wheel position sensor and cleared codes and test drove no further repair. Cost for repair was $107.63 (clip was $2.63)i have not had any issue since repair made but have heard others complain about this same issue. Steering to me would be a safety issue and a$3 clip cured the problem...

Rear parking lights

Causes the brake lights to illuminate without the brake pedal being pushed; the brake lights to not illuminate when the pedal is pushed; difficulty disengaging the cruise control; moving the gear shifter out of the 'park' position without pushing the brake; and disablement of crash avoidance features such as traction control, electronic stability control, and panic braking assist features

Upon starting the shift lever for the automatic transmission cannot be moved out of park.car died once in a highway and could not be moved off the street. This issue is recuring, whenever the vehicle is first started. Intermittent no shift out of park issue.

Both hid low beam lights turn off simultaneously while driving at night. Could not reactivate by turning switch off and on. All other lights functioned so i managed to use fog lights to continue the rest of the way home. Tested the low beams next morning, no issue. Tried them later in the day and they would not work. No accident, no wet weather and battery is only a couple months old. Heading to dealership to get resolved.

Driving at night, 45 mph on smooth pavement. Low beam headlights went out, high beam remained functional. Since that time whenever driven low beams work until engine compartment warms up and do not work again until engine compartment cools down.

While traveling to macon ga about 11 pm in the evening, the low beam lights just went out. I took the vehicle to the dealer the next day to figure out what was wrong. The dealer stated the fix would be nearly $1,400 to remove and replace the low beam headlights (required removal of the bumper). They never stated there were problems with the lights or the low beam system or in general, assumed any responsibility whatsoever. Very disappointed to date; sounds like not only a safety issue but one that will cost me to correct.the consumer stated gm acknowledged the root cause as a defective wire in the underhood bussed electrical center, yet no directive has been issued to recall the affected vehicles. Updated 01/08/14

Engine light goes on and goes into deferred engine power.have replaced throttle body twice.car run great and then the engine light will go on and when i start the car it starts to violently vibrate.i turn off.sit for about 10 minutes and then try to start again.sometimes it works and sometimes not.deferred engine power is dangerous. Sensors have been reset. This is an ongoing problem been to the dealer and they are price gouging.problem has been going on for several months.

I have a 2007 corvette and the "service active handling system" light comes on.i went to the chevrolet dealer and he was of little help.the current investigation number is ea09-002.is there now or will there be in the future a recall notice on this problem since it is a common problem and even a service bulletin on the matter.

My 2007 corvette 2d convertible locks you in the car. You could get stuck in the car and suffocate to death. The windows and doors will not open, car is not recognizing the fob, you are totally stuck. Resort to emergency release on floor beside the seat. Lots of people don't know it's there! like a passenger sitting in the car while you go to do an errand. They could "burn up" overheated and stuck! gm knows that they have a problem as they sent me a letter advising me about the emergency release! but they refuse to fix it claiming they don't have a problem!. ...updated 02/23/16

A various times the message, "service active handling" appeared on the display. The active handling system was automatically turned off by the computer. I read about the issue on the corvette forum and the chevrolet service bulletin concerning the issue (bulletin # 06-02-35-002b). Since this is an extreme safety issue i wanted the repair done.hendrick chevrolet of cary, nc completed the repair. The service code had been set and the repair involvedputting a little plastic comb at the electrical connection of the telescoping steering column. This was not a recall item, so i was charged. While it was $47.87 it was too much for a defective design on chevrolet's most iconic automobile, the corvette.

Owner of 2007 corvette coupe. Vehicle headlights went completely out while driving on the freeway.the next day headlights worked until the car was warmed up then failed again. After reviewing online corvette forum there were many many complaints of the problem which is attributed to the faulty wiring inside the fuse box under the hood. Had to replace the fuse box at a cost of $400. But this issue will likely re occur because the new fuse box will develop the same problem over time since it has not been redesigned.

Electrical contacts in fuel sending sensor (located inside gas tank) get covered with sulfite. And do not transmit fuel left in gas tank.. Makes no difference if car is stationery, in motion, or on highway. Gas gage reads zero..chevrolet changed their transmitter the following model year.. But most 2007 models and prior years (2005,06 and 07 are affected.

While driving, the low beam headlights suddenly went out.after further investigation, a known and documented problem regarding the fuse block under the hood was the culprit.there is a copper wire within the fuse block that loses connection due to the high heat that occurs in the fusebox circuitry but to date, gm has not issued a tsb or recall concerning this potentially dangerous issue.

Returned from a drive.backed car into parking spot and transmission will not go into park.as a result, can not restart car.

Service active handling/traction control system warning came on while driving average speed (about 45mph) going straight on a flat road.light went off after turning off vehicle. Came back on numerous times at different speeds, some while braking at a light, other times while accelerating.took to shop and had recommended fix of clip on wire below steering wheel completed.shop test drove car and could not duplicate issue.on way home, service light came back on.this time i noticed the brake lights also affected- lights on while driving and off when depressing pedal.took back to shop where brake light switch under pedal replaced and bcm computer was flashed and reprogrammed (to avoid replacing). This seemed to fix the problem.for about 5 months.servicetraction control again came on and became more frequent over 2 weeks and by the second week the brake lights stayed on at all times.returned to shop and had to pay for new bcm computer.have driven car twice since then without issue. For other issues also noted by other drivers- headlights have little cracks all through lenses which cannot be replaced, must buy new lights with entire housing which are very expensive and quite labor intensive to replace.also hear little popping noises coming from top as noted by recall on file.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While driving various speeds, the traction control system warning indicator and other warning indicators on the instrument panel flashed. The vehicle lost power and decelerated. The failure would correct itself after several minutes and the vehicle would operate normally. The vehicle was taken to royal chevrolet (4502 w broad st, richmond, va 23230 (804) 441-9393) where it was diagnosed with a faulty wheel speed traction detector that needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. The failure mileage was approximately 68,100.

Transmission sometimes sticks in park & will not come out. The solenoide sticks & will not release.

Service active handling system warning has been on now for better than three weeks. While the car isin motion.

Made online concern and issue with low beam lights going off in 2011. Recall notice from gm; january 2015, states it will install "jumper" wire. I already had this completed on 10/13/2011 which resulted as a short term fix. Still ended up having problems and eventually (hoping for the recall to transpire sooner) have it set up now where i need to pop the hood and install a 20 amp fuse in order for lights to go on. "jumper" format is not adequate just be aware. The design of the ubec unit should be overhauled to accomplish two key issues; heat and less sharp bends of the internal copper wiring to prevent stress and breaking. Currently only fog lights function without having to plug in the 20 amp fuse. Even my bright lights need the fused plug in under the hood.

Following a high performance driver education event, my 2007 corvette caught fire while traveling at low speed (approximately 10 mph) on a 2-lane county road, with the fire originating in the area surrounding the passenger rear (right rear) wheel well.as soon as i was aware of the fire, i stopped the car, shut down the engine, and observed the fire on the top of the transmission and gearbox from the rear of the car.i obtained a fire extinguisher and attempted to extinguish the fire by deploying the contents beneath the car on the area of visible flame.i was unable to extinguish the fire under the first attempt and i began to remove the rear carpeting from the vehicle in the rear hatch and trunk area as the carpet had began to smolder.a second fire extinguisher was brought to the scene and the fire was put out.the fire had consumed a 2" x 6" section of the hatch (trunk) floor, which had melted onto the rear exhaust pipe.after the car was towed home and put up on jack stands, it appears that the charcoal canister and sections of the emissions system were consumed in the fire.it is inconclusive in my observation if these components were causal to the fire or merely consumed in the flames.much of the rear wiring surrounding the differential and transmission has been destroyed by the fire.there are also visible remnants of liquid "drips" on the right rear exhaust pipe travelling over the rear differential but no conclusive source of the liquid was found.i would like to ensure that this failure was not systemic to the vehicle design or manufacturer so that other owners may be protected from similar failures.

Bottom of rear hatch strut / defogger, drivers side, shorted out causing a fire which totally destroyed the car.

Car goes into deferred engine power.replaced throttle body 3 times.the car starts to vibrate and then shuts down.this is dangerous for the driver and could get killed. We have checked engine leaks, sensors, etc. The car will drive okey for a little while and then engine light goes on and then starts to vibrate and shuts down and stops. I have to wait a little while, sometimes it will start up and sometimes will not.i cannot drive long distances or at night for fear the car will just stop.this is dangerous.i do not know what to do. Brought to the dealer and they just say, get a new vette, they do not take this problem seriously. Nor do their technicians know how to work on a vette. They have had the directionson how to take care of the problem in anotebook. One tech left his notes in my car.if a doctor had to take out his notes to see how to do a surgery, i wouldn't go to him.would you?'

I have had since the first occasion approximately one year ago, the lights would shut of or not turn on at all when the car would warm up.once the car cools the lights will turn on, or the lights will shut off while driving when the car reaches a warmer temperature.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that the headlights suddenly shut off without warning. In order to turn the headlights back on, the contact had to cap the fuse box. The dealer stated that the wiring shortage was under the fuse box and the vehicle needed to be rewired in order to prevent the shortage. Also, the fuse box needed to be replaced. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle had already received a recall repair regarding the headlights. The contact stated that the failure recurred even after receiving the repair. The recall details were unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the headlights failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. Gm customer service was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000. ...updated 11-01-13 the consumer stated the problem was the fuse block under the hood and was heat related, due to poor design.

My car is a 2007 chevrolet corvette the exact same thing that is detail on one of your current recalls happened to me and now the dealer does not want to fix it because it is not the year the recall isthis is the recall im referring to:vehicle make / model:model year(s): chevrolet / corvette 2005-2006 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- nhtsa campaign id number:10v172000summary: gm is recalling certain model year 2005 and 2006 chevrolet corvette passenger cars manufactured between march 2004 and january 2006 equipped with a tilt and telescoping steering column (rpo n37). In rare cases, repeated movement of the steering column may cause a signal interruption within the column. If this occurs, the message, "service active handling system" will appear in the driver information center, and one or more of the brakes may apply, possibly causing the vehicle to pull to the right or left.

I was driving my corvette at approximately 40 mph. When coming out of a curve accelerated and the car pulled to the right. When applied brakes pressure it had no affect on steering and stopping the car. The car continued to go to the rightin a circle until vehicle hit the guard rail. It appeared that it was in a limp mode the car had a mind of its own through acceleration the transmission and brake controls where in sync with each other and took over control of vehicle and wouldn't stop the car. I am fortunate that didn't occur on the highway with other vehicles around me, which could have created a catastrophic situation.

Track control

Driving along and car starts swerving and brakes seem to apply, then i notice service abs, service traction control and service active handling is on.this has been happening frequently for several months and now getting worse. Have tightened all connections by internally tightening the poor loose connectors and rerouting the wires to the swps to give more length. Now lights are on and will not go out, shows no codes with a scan reader. This is an 07 and i do not see that as a recall even though it is the same problems as the 05 & 06.

When turning at slow speeds, the active suspension will either activate or force a dic message "service active handling system." sometimes, this occurs simultaneously with abs activation of the brakes. This has caused me to drive into head- on lanes, or forced me to stop in moving traffic without brake lights.it seems worse in cold or wet weather.restarting the car will reset the display.

Service active handling system warning has been on now for better than three weeks. While the car isin motion.

Service active handling systemerror appears on the dash and a bell sounds for no apparent reason.this has happened over 6 times in the 4 years that we have owned this 2007 corvette starting in sept 08.we have taken it in 6 times to be fixed.they say the computer shows code c0710 and they replaced the steering wheel position e7690 sensor five times.the last time this happened, the steering wheel jerked from side to side and scared the crap out of my wife.fortunately she was driving at a low speed.they said they replaced the steering wheel position sensor connector retaining clip.come to find out, there has been a gm service bulletin #060235002b out on this condition since oct 19, 2007.we were never informed of this fact.we found out by going to the corvette forum after this last incident.they also said the "fix" was not covered under my major guard gm protection plan, but they didn't charge me because i had brought it to them 6 times for the same problem.how magnanimous of them!this needs to be a recall to protect peoples lives.i just hope what they did fixes it, but i am doubtful!here is the link to the corvette forum on this problem: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-tech-performance/2336065-service-active-handling-consumer-action.html updated 03/15/11 updated 1/5/12

Investigation ea09-002 there was no accident.the "service active handling system" came on.took car to richard hibbard chevrolet (now out of business as a chevrolet dealer) in claremont california.the dealer informed me that there was a problem with the rotation sensor (part no. 15231656, sensor 6.522) and said that the part had to be replaced.the sensor was replaced 05/11/2011 at a cost of $326.12.there has been no additional problems.however, the same problem was covered under warranty repair for earlier cars.

Service vehicle active handling system warning is on in vehicle. After reading online that the brakes can activate on their own without brake lights i no longer feel safe driving the car. A case number hase been generated with gm customer service.

Gas gauge is showing erratic levels and then shows empty when there is in fact fuel in the tank,...works erratically and then stops working after more than 1/2 tank of gas has been used, if level of gas tank is below 1/2,...gas gauge shows no gas/empty,... This causes driver to not know how much gas is left in tank and so causes a very, very dangerous situation when traveling on highway at highway speeds, when traveling on george bush tollway here in plano texas usa, my car engine died completely causing me to drive to side with no power in heavy rush hour traffic. This is unacceptable and is a known issue with the fuel sending unit/ fuel sensors in the gas tanks of numerous corvettes for years 2005-2007. The cost to replace this defective sensor due to it being in the gas tank is >$1500 at dealer. Unacceptable.

I was pulling out of a gas station, all of sudden my front breaks locked up. This scares me what if i am on the highway.

There is an error message on the dash of my 2007 corvette that says "service active handling system." i understand this is a common defect. See investigation number ea09-002 . I notice a negative change in the cars braking and handling abilities. I understand that this problem could result in a serious accident.

October of this year. My transmission in my corvette would not go into park. I put it into reverse and backed it out and then could not put it up into park. I then put it into drive and moved forward some and tried to put it into park. This time it would not go even into reverse. The vehicle has 56220 miles on it. I stays in a garage climate controlled and has seen bad weather maybe 6 time (snow or rain). So off the car went to the chevrolet dealer to get repaired. I googled the problem to do a little research and found out that there has been lots of complaints on this same problem with out any results. So there is a plastic piece in the shiftier mechanism the entire assembly must be replaced. So at $1068.00 later the problem was fixed. Did gm know about the problem, they sure did. The service person told me he has replaced 2 the same week and more through the year. My gut feeling is that this is a hazard to not only the owner but to other drivers out there. I even feel that it could be life threatening to everyone. The piece gets stuck in the unit and one could drive straight into a wall or run over someone in the vehicles path.

I've had several instances of the "service active handling warning" come on, about once a week for the last month on my car in the drivers information display in the dash. About six months ago i had the same problem and had the fix prescribed by gm, a clip on the connector for the steering position sensor, installed. That stopped the issue until recently.yesterday on my way home from work the system kicked on and locked the front right wheel repeatedly. It jerked the car to the right, pulling me partway off the road and almost into a ravine.

Car tracsion control keeps turning off and gives error message "service active handling"

2007 corvette 41,000 miles. "service active handling systems" keeps coming on.. On the dic. When this happens the brake lights get stuck in the "on position" i have almost been rear ended twice because of this. I have had the swps andbrake switch replaced twice. I have had the brake switch recalibrated and i have installed the orange comb gm used on the sw wiring harness. Still not fixed . Updated 03/03/11

Any timei driving over 30-40the car activate the traction control system and the car acting strange like loose traction .need activate the different driving system to keep drive and is not normal.

Service active handling appeared on my dic. The lights for the abs were also lit. There was no traction control on my vehicle.

2007 chevy corvette 40k miles getting sporadic "service active handling" warning on driver information center. No crash (yet). I'm merely reporting a safety concern that is apparently already under investigation.

Attempting to enter an expressway entrance ramp, i accelerated the vehicle to avoid a car closing rapidly from behind.the car was heading straight and i made no steering input to thethe rear end abruptly moved to the right and i was unable to countersteer sufficiently to avoid hitting a vehicle in the lane to my right. This initial collision caused further loss of control within my vehicle and the other vehicle, and we collided a second time.

Active handling came on and car pulled to the right.

Ebcm failure resulting in loss of anti skid system, active handling system and traction control system. This is a serious safety issue which directly impacts the braking system and steering. Apparently it's a common failure and gm has stopped manufacturing of the needed modules. The result is that hundreds of thousands of this type of vehicle are either unsafe now or will become unsafe without any warning.

This complaint is with respect to my 2007 chevrolet corvette.twice within a three day period i received a warning message from my car saying "service active handling system".in the first case i was starting the car (not moving) and in the second case i was pulling into a parking spot moving at about 5mph turning hard to the left.in neither case did i experience any handling issue with the vehicle but again one time i was not moving and the second only traveling at 5 mph so if anything such as automatic brake application had occurred i may not have noticed it.i've researched the issue and have found that many other corvette owners (and some cadillac xlr owners) have had the same warning message.in some cases brakes are applied automatically and unexpectedly at high spreads creating a real safety issue.one possible remedy per gm is tsb 06-02-35-002 (recall n100118, 10118).being safety related i'm not sure why this service usually costs owners.also this tsb stops at the 2006 model year and i have a 2007 that was originally delivered in october of 2006.i have called my local chevy dealer ( [xxx] in atlanta ga).i'm waiting on a return call. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

This problem started soon after i purchased the car used.i have replaced the brake switch and added four inches of wire to the wiring harness to the telescopic steering wheel. I recently replaced the brake pads and the service handling system sooncomes on. There is no recalls on my car and have been to the dealer about the problem and they can't figure it out. I am reading this could be a serious problem and can cause an accident.i have been to the corvette forum andtried numerous things to fix this.i am currently checking electrical grounds to see if that helps.

While pulling/turning into traffic on a busy street.. My car's traction control system malfunctioned, and i was unable to accelerate, thus almost causing an accident.since the incident.. I have experienced this issue a number of times.it can be very dangerous, as i now have to consider my car unstable while turning.

When i start the car on the dash a warning appears "service active handling system" i read in the owners book i loose handling control and other problems the dealer is no help?

This complaint is regarding a stock 2007 chevrolet corvette, upon starting the vehicle and slowly driving down a road the car lost control and went left barely missing a curb. The reason for this complaint is that the traction control system or stability seems as though its off and says in the computer that its turning on after the incident happened to me about 3 times this last one causing considerable damage to my underbody. Something needs to be checked in the computer of the car or any electrical components. This issue does not happen all the time, therefore there was alot of time inbetween each incident, i don't know if this is a defect but it is certainly not good if other people are having these problems as i am.

My corvette is experiencing brake/ stability control/ traction control issues.the first time i apply the brakes after starting the car they pedal vibrates, the brakes feel ineffective, and the car disables anti-lock brakes, active handling, and traction control.the lights reset after shutting the vehicle off and starting it again, only for all these systems to disable upon the first stop.

2007 chevrolet corvette z06 with ls7 engine - excessive engine valve guide wear - per the gm valve wiggle test my car was found to have up to 3 times the acceptable engine valve to guide clearance at 24,139 miles.some ls7 engines have had this issue, breaking a valve due to the excessive clearance causing the engine block to break open, spilling oil onto the rear tires while in forward motion causing a serious safety concern.due to the safety concern the engine was disassembled and repaired.gm has known of this issue and replaced many ls7 engines which did explode due to the valve guide wear issue.

Needle bearings were found in oil pan. This is very common problems in gm vehicles as defective uncaged rocker arm design which causes rocker arms to easily break off bearings. Gm even issues a bulletin, but owners have to bear the cost of defective factory-parts. Broken needle bearings could end up in engine and destroy engine. Even owners replace broken rocker arms, they will fail because they're uncaged. To repair permanently, owners have to install caged rocker arms from non-factory part, which will nullify warranty. Owners are trapped in keep replacing rocker arms, or install non-defective non-factory caged rocker arms and lose warranty. Gm should recall this problem.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While driving approximately 50 mph, the contact applied the clutch to shift from second to third gear. When the clutch was released, the vehicle jerked as if thebrakes were applied and the engine stalled. The contact engaged the clutch and maneuvered to the emergency lane. The contact was unable to restart the engine. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was discovered that a valve had fallen into cylinder one. As a result, the piston and cylinder wall were fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 32,500.

Harmonic balance bad on car with only 50k

Engine light goes on and goes into deferred engine power.have replaced throttle body twice.car run great and then the engine light will go on and when i start the car it starts to violently vibrate.i turn off.sit for about 10 minutes and then try to start again.sometimes it works and sometimes not.deferred engine power is dangerous. Sensors have been reset. This is an ongoing problem been to the dealer and they are price gouging.problem has been going on for several months.

While passing a large truck on a rural highway (fm 2004) the engine dropped a valve which as i have been informed is a known issue on these cars with the z06 ls7 engine having premature valve guide wear. The motor locked up after the piston hit the valve resulting in catastrophic engine damage causing the rear tires to lock up as a result of the engine locking. I was able to apply the clutch and regain control of the car and there was no accident other than a close call with the 18 wheeler i was trying to pass.there are numerous instances of the same issues i have seen while researching with this car from 2007 to 2013 7.0 liter engine from gm.

I purchased my corvette in 2013. It had 11050 miles on it. I droveit for 3 months. I was driving one day and it dropped the number #1 cylinder valve and threw a piston out the motor. It had 12600 miles on it when this happen.their has been severalcorvette owners with this same issue. I feel gmc is reliable for this is issue and needs to take responsibility for it.

Thank you.

Engine destroyed itself. With 56k miles on the engine a valve broke while running, falling into the cylinder where it was hit by the piston causing the piston to go into the engine block wall. There was a known issue with valves / valve guides in these engines. Chevy produced a service bulletin (#13-06-01-001) yet did nothing about the problem at the time. They've also refused to do anything to remedy my situation.

Valves of specifications. I hadto pay out of pocket to get this fixed. If i would have dropped a valve while driving i could have loss control of my car. This is a known problem that chevrolet refuses to acknowledge 2007 z06 23884 miles 1 int .008"#1 exh .006"#3 int .0085"#3 exh .005"#5 int .0085"#5 exh .010"#7 int .009"#7 exh .005"#2 int .010"#2 exh .011"#4 int .010"#4 exh .012"#6 int .008"#6 exh .017"#8 int .007"#8 exh .006"max gm spec is .0037" which would roughly be .0075" on the wiggle test. So basiclly if the wiggle test is over .0075" the guides are out of spec.

I have a 2007 corvette z06 with 43 k miles on it.i decided to have someone check my car because of the article i had read about the ls7 engines having valve guide issues.i was sure that they would be ok because the corvette sites say it is only a minor amount of heads that were machined in correctly. I was having other work done to my corvette so looked for a place that does mostly corvette service, i told the mechanic to check my valve guides while he was doing the other work i was sure they would of been ok. Upon my surprise he sent me videos showing me that they were not ok and needed to be repaired.it cost me $1,950.00 to have my heads cnc and new valve guides and springs installed the old ones were very bad i have videos showing this, the car was running with little valve noise at the time but were still bad mechanic would not even dyno the car after seeing how bad they were.

This car intermittently locks the steering column.no reason.the engine shuts off at speed.

I was participating in a high performance driving education (hpde) event and was driving my car going approximately 50 mph on the virginia international raceway (vir) on tuesday afternoon, june 27, 2017, when it seemed to loose acceleration. I drove further on the track and still did not have normal acceleration and i saw blue smoke coming out theexhaust so i exited the track and when i got in the engine stopped. Several mechanic type people familiar with corvettes looked at my car engine and instructed me to try to start it, which i was able to do and again blue exhaust smoke came out. I turned off the engine and had it towed to my car dealer, holiday chevrolet in williamsburg, va. Their mechanics determined that the exhaust valve in cylinder #1 dropped from the head into the cylinder and eventually exited the engine through the exhaust port and into the catalytic converter. The mechanic determined that the engine block was damaged beyond repair and an entire engine replacement was required, which is what i did.

Corvette active handling system failure. 2007 corvette.

We were at a stop light and smelled oil burning.this happened a couple of times before we decided to look under the car.when we did there was oil all over the oil pan and all the way to the rear of the car.took the car to the chevy dealer and they tightened the bolts on the oil pan. Theservice manager told us when we had it in that there was a service bulletin for this and the rear main seal had a problem with leaking and that it should be replaced if any one brought a vehicle in with this problem.took the car home and drove for a couple days and still smelled oil.looked under the car and there was oil all over again.this time it was also all over the back of the car and the rear wheels and brakes.now that is a safety issue to me.took the car back to the dealer. They kept it a week.went to pick up the car and the service manager told us they replaced the seal but did not have to pull the motor???????i said how did you do that?maybe they could pull this off on some little old lady but not someone that knows something about cars.he went and talked to the guy that worked on the car and he said theydidn't replace it, they put dye in and test drove it and didn't find a leak.well by the time i got home there was oil all over again. In other words, they did not want to fix it because we bought it out of state.the car only had 3500 miles on it.the other problem was the windshield wipers did not work on high.you do not want to be in florida when it rains without wipers that work on high.after 3 tries, they finally had to cut the wiring harness because it was all corroded.i sure am glad i spent $70,000 for a brand new car.i would never take another vehicle to lott mather chevrolet in haines's city, fl or recommend them to anyone. As for buying my dream car.......lemon!

My gm service request numberb is:[xxx].the automatic gear selector lever occasionally got stuck in park (p) and took a long dangerous time to get it worked loose and functioning properly. I lived with it for several months, but it got progressively much worse and more dangerous. I spoke to other corvette owners and found out that i had a common safety problem for my model. I finally took the car to the dealer that sold it to me (mountain view chevrolet) who said they had seen a lot of this defect and they then charged me nearly $600 to correct this dangerous defect. Not right!!!! it should have been recalled from the get-go and fixed promptly without charge. Unable to move in traffic, get out of the way of danger, or off of railway tracks is a potential killer. There should be a safety recall.

11/15/14 while driving at night. About 30 min. Into my drive noticed that my low beam headlights went out. Pulled over to try switching lights on and off. Still would not come back on. High beams and fog lights worked. Had to drive 15 min. With fog lights and high beams on. 12/7/14 driving home from work at night,15 min. Drive to get home. 10 min. In low beams go out. So i drove home with fog lights and high beams on again.

I have had since the first occasion approximately one year ago, the lights would shut of or not turn on at all when the car would warm up.once the car cools the lights will turn on, or the lights will shut off while driving when the car reaches a warmer temperature.

Low beam headlights on 2007 corvette shut off without warning. Fog and high beams continue to work. It appears the low beams work initially but then stop working after the engine heats up. This happens very often. Last time they stopped working on the highway at 65 mph.

Low beams went off.after multiple visits to dealer, it was determined that the bcm needed to be replaced at a cost a several hundred dollars.

The low beam headlights initially work when the vehicle is started.they will operate both automatically and manually when selected.after driving the car for 15 - 20 minutes the low beams go out.they will not come on in either the auto or manual modes.the high beams, parking and fog lights all work.after the car sits for several hours the lights will come back on, but will go out without warning.i have had my car serviced for this problem 4 times.the ground was fixed one time, the next visit the control module and ambient light sensor was replaced, the following visit the control on the steering column was replaced.the low beams operated for short periods of time each time.when the lights go out, it is without warning and they will not come back on until the car has been sitting for several hours.i have investigated this issue and it appears to be a very common problem in several corvette and general motors forums.

Low beam headlights simultaneously stopped working.high beam and fog lights continued to work.

Driving at night, 45 mph on smooth pavement. Low beam headlights went out, high beam remained functional. Since that time whenever driven low beams work until engine compartment warms up and do not work again until engine compartment cools down.

Low beams suddenly go outwhile driving and won't come back on.all fuses, relays, and switches have been tested and found to be good.

I was driving at night all the sudden my low beams stopped working at freeway. The lights went off without any warning sign or any error!!!! i tried to pull over but since i did not have light i could not navigate my way therefore i hit a flat tire which it was on the side of freeway!!i took the car to dealer and mechanicidentified the issue from faulty wiring material from fuse box." fuse box is to close to engine and that cause copper wires inside the fuse box to get disconnected from panel of fuses.this is a really huge issue with this car and i am not the only one who has this issue. Most of corvettes with high mileage are having this issue.

My car is subject to a recall for the low beam headlamps, and chevy (the manufacturer) will not fix it. The dealer says they can fix it by replacing the fuse box, but chevy will not authorize it. I have been without my car for over a month. The dealer gave me loaner car, and i do appreciate that. However, i would like to get my car back. I am getting absolutely nowhere with chevy, the manufacturer. I have no complaints with respect to the dealer.

2007 corvette lights will stop working without warning. This has happened more than 10 times. All the times except one were on familiar roads where i could stop. Once was as close to a disaster as possible. Someone will be killed if this gm issue is not resolved.

My low beam headlights (left/right) have intermittent outages after the car warms up. The low beams fail without warning leaving it difficult to see the vehicle and operate the vehicle during evening, dusk and night driving.

While driving on the freeway, the low beam headlights on my 2007 corvette went darkwithout warning. The instrument panel headlight indicator showed that they were still on. I switched to high beams and those lights were working. It seems the low beams work for awhile but stop working after the car warms up for about 20 minutes or so. Also if the low beams were working and the car is turned of for a short period of time the low beams may not work once the car is started again. This seems to be happening more frequently. Clearly this is a defect in the manufacture of the vehicle and a limited recall needs to be initiated for those cars that are experiencing this problem.

We have had intermittent problems with low beams not coming on. We replaced the relay with a new one and it made no difference. All other lights work.have had the problem diagnosed as a break in ground wire connection between the bcmand the fuse box. Several fuses in the box are discolored from excessive heat in the fuse box.

Low beams turned off while driving.

Multiple fine cracks in both head light assemblies.they are not only unsightly but appears to distort/reflect head lighting.in checking my with local chevrolet dealership, other corvettes owners have the same problem.this appears to be a design defect.

While driving headlights go out (low beams).

I was driving home at night and my headlights automatically just turned off and wouldn't come back on...i needed to turn on my high beams in order to make it home safe...after getting home and letting the car sit for an hour they came back on..i read some corvette forums online and saw many people had the same issues..i guess when the car gets hot there's a issue with the corvette fuse box making the lights just turn off.that is ridiculous!! stupidest system in the planet...please, please talk to chevy about this issue...imagine how many corvettes they sell and the potential hazard this could cause on the road...now i have to go to chevy and spend $800 to get this fixed can u believe that! for something that should never ever occur.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While driving various speeds at night, the low beam headlights suddenly failed. The driver had to use the high beam lights in order to view the road. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v2510000 (electrical system , exterior lighting) but a notification schedule was not available. The failure mileage was 65,000. The vin was not available.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic test which located the failure as the fuel tank liner. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer filed report 71-904-403-313, but denied any assistance with the repair. The failure mileage was 8,000 and the current mileage was 67,000.

Fuel gauge does not work.original problem was in 2009 when the vehicle lost power on the freeway.fuel gauge indicated fuel in the tank, but it was empty.had vehicle towed and refueled.from that time to the present, fuel gauge has never been accurate.since 2013, the fuel gauge no longer works at all.

Overwhelming fuel odor after shutting car off and housing it in the garage or outside. Especially noticeable in summer when ethanol is added to fuel - heavy smell of nail polish remover inside and outside the car. Fuel vapor leak from gas tank requires $2,678.87 repair. Fuel vapor buildup inside the vehicle and/or garage and house are a fire hazard as well as a health hazard. Other owners have complained of similar problem on the corvette forum. Chevrolet needs to recall and replace this component on all c6 corvettes.

I am smelling gas fumes coming from the driver side after driving. I can hear fuel dripping on the exhaust when i park the car in my driveway which is on an slight incline. If it is not dripping on the exhaust it's dripping on something hot because it makes a sizzling sound. Please help! should have a recall about this problem in my opinion. Lots of corvette owners are dealing with this same issue.

The fuel guage went to empty and the fuel is full.i was told that it is the fuel sensor. Chevrolet wants $1600.00 to fix the problem.the price is way out of line. Can i get some help.

Strong gasoline smell outside and inside the vehicle when gas tank is over 1/2 full.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact initially smelled an abnormal fuel odor emitting from the vehicle while driving at various speeds. The contact also noticed spots around his left rear tire in his driveway. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they diagnosed the vehicle with a defective fuel pump, and the fuel pump was replaced. Since the repair, the contact stated that his fuel gauge had become defective and would give false readings. The contact spoke with burns chevrolet of gaffney (101 peachoid rd, gaffney, sc 29341) where he attempted to purchase a fuel pump but was unsuccessful. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The fuel gauge had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 60,100.

Fuel leak coming from tank after filling more than 3/4. Very strong gas smell in garage and or vehicle cabin. Leaks when vehicle is sitting.

Corvette has had a problem with fuel smell coming from the car after you fill the tank.this issue is very serious. Fuel leaks out the top of the tanks, and will then drip down the back side onto the hot exhaust. If ignored this could result in a fire and possible death.if parked overnight in a garage, the vapor will fill the garage and could easily be triggered into an explosion and fire from a gas water heater or other ignition source.i can't park my c6 in my garage without it filling the entire garage with fumes so strong that i can't even keep my dogs in there. The vapors then seep into the house. The car is unsafe to drive, and unsafe to leave parked.

My c6 2007 chevrolet corvette has a very strong fuel smell indicating it has one or many fuel leaks which is a large danger and an emissions violation.this is a very widely-known issue with a large number of c6 owners but gm will not initiate a recall on the faulty fuel pump or leaking seals on the gas tanks.this needs to be addressed asap before someone gets killed.

Upon parking the vehicle in my garage i noticed a very strong fuel smell emitting from the vehicle. I search all around the car and could not find a leak. This very powerful fuel/gasoline smell would permeate my entire house causing a bit of nausea at times. I started to park the car outside because i was concerned about the possible fire hazard as well as the noxious fumes. I took the car to my local mechanic and they found that the main fuel pump (located in the left side fuel tank) had been leaking from the high pressure side of the pump. The plastic that fuel pump module is composed of started to deteriorate on it's own, and began to spray fuel onto the top of the fuel tank. There is a large skid/support plate that holds up the fuel tank and this plate was retaining a majority of the fuel. This tank is also very close to the exhaust and i'm just fortunate that the fuel did not spray into that direction. After doing some research this is a very common issue with all 2005-2013 corvettes. So many issues in fact that ac delco (the vendor that supplies the fuel pump modules to gm) has issued 3 updates to this particular part. Here is my oem part number as well as the subsequent update part numbers.my oe pump that leaked: 15785206 (is no longer a good ac delco #)1st update: 191334412nd update: 193020423rd update: 19149687.

On several occasion when i have filled my car i have had gas run out inside the fender.i have also smelled gas on several occasions after filling up

Car is leaking gas down the side of the driver's-side fuel tank.

Gas leak and smell from top of drivers side gas tank with car above half fullreplaced sending unit and fuel pump canister

Recently after i park my car in the garage i get a strong odor of gas fumes.it has gotten worse each time after driving.the fumes are very strong.the car only has 30, 000 miles.today i discovered a gas stain on the garage floor below the gas tank.the tank is less than 1/2 full.i have a gas water heater in garage that could cause a fire.after checking about this problem i found that many corvette owners have the same problem.gm better resolve this very serious sitution before someone is killed.these gas tanks are defective and must be recalled!

When i fill my car up with gas it very loud like gas is leaking

Smell of fuel when entering garage. After getting a tire changed, mechanic saw fuel leak next to driver side rear tire. Also small drop of fuel on floor near driver rear tire. Saw fuel trip through fuel tank pan holder.

After refueling and parking the car in my garage there is a strong odor of gas.it will go away after i use a half of the tank. If i refill the tank with more than a half a tamk the smell returns. This is dangerous!!

While parked in garage strong fuel odor emits from fuel filler pipe and gas cap..noticeable after a few hours and particularly noticeable if car cover is used.most predominate when tank is full or nearly so.

Very strong fuel (gasoline) smell without topping off of the tank no drips or pools forming under the car.afraid to park in the garage.

After filling up the fuel tank, a strong gas smell in the cabin of the vehicle. The smell remained and hasn't dispersed.

Fuel smell filling the compartment and also my garage after parking.

Whenever i put more than a half of tank of gas into the car i am overwhelmed with the strong smell of gas.i have not seen any spots from gas leaking but he smell is very strong!it smell when it is parked and when i drove it this past weekend i could smell it on the inside while i was driving and i had to crack my window to get the flumes out!

My corvette has extremely strong gas smell coming out of it, especially when it's not moving. The smell is extremely bad, which makes me worry about possible combustion.

Filled my car with fuel and parked in my garage and about an hour later i went back out to my garage and the whole garage smelled like fuel. I was afraid the garage would catch fire as my water heater is in there so i pulled my car out and searched for a leak. I could not find one and the next day i took the car to my dealer. They found leaks in both tanks and i spent $2000 repairing the car. I was told they knew about the problem but that my extended warranty coverage they put on this issue expired just weeks prior. I was never informed of this problem as i am the second owner. This should never have been a special extended warranty due to the hazardous nature of this system. This should have been fixed at no expense to me. Wanted to tell you that this happened on 12-24-17 but your form will not allow me to put in that date.

Just purchased this used car with less than 3000 miles.i happened to come across the fuel leak issue in online forum.since i rec'd incomplete service records, i do not know if the repair has been done to my car.this is just not right when th eproblem could create a fuel leak onto the exhaust.if the problem were made a recall, then gm would be forced to notify me as the current owner so that the problem could be fixed before there is a fire resulting from fuel leak.

The gas tank leaks fuel and drips down the back side of the tank. I can smell gas fumes very badly when i park my car in confined space

Strong gas odor coming from rear drivers side near gas tank but no leaks anywhere to be found under the car. Fumes up the entire garage and in parts of the house. Seems very hazardous if ever there was a spark of some kind ever occurred! i really only notice this occurance when parked and slightly when driving with windows up.

Horrible fuel smell coming from cockpit. Obvious recall needed on fuel pump plastics!!!

When i full it up with gas it leak very very bad.

I recently purchased my 2007 c6 corvette used. I did not notice anything until i started my drive home which was a 200 mile drive. The gas gauge was reading 1/4 tank of gas and dropped to empty. We stopped in at the gas station and filled the tank but once we did the gauge continued to read empty and a light displayed on the dash stating service fuel system. We continued to drive on our way home and we noticed a strong fuel odor inside the cabin of the car and distinctively from the driver side of the vehicle. I got the car home and noticed a few small drips in the garage that quickly evaporated. To the best of my knowldge i suspected that it was fuel. For the next week or so we did not drive the car but the garage smelled strongly of fuel. I parked it out side and the fuel smell in the garage went away. Odly after filling the tank a few more times the gauge began working again and the service fuel system message went away. It eventually showed an empty tank and then full again. I went to visit my local gm dealer to see if any recalls had been placed on my car over the years and they told me that there are no active recalls. However in my sear accross the forums i found gm bulletin 15682 (primary tank module flange fuel and vapor leaks) for my 2007 corvette. This bulletin was released in july 2016. Perfectly matching the issue i am experiencing and was advised my member of many of the forums to file a concern with nhtsa. I have not yet had it inspected by the dealership because they want $1500.00 to inspect and repair because of the need to drop the drive train for proper access. I would appreciate any assistance with this issue. I am scared to drive my care due to a fire related accident and it is my primary means of transportation.

I received a notice in january 2017 that there was a fuel system problem (specialnotice 15682) and chevrolet (gm) was going to extend the warranty for 10 years for my 2007 corvette.i got the notice 10 years after gm acknowledged the problem so their remedy doesn't exist!the fuel smell is so excessive that i am afraid to keep the car in the garage so i took it to the dealer.i was told that since the car is 10 years old gm will not honor the notice.this is the second gm vehicle that i have had this same problem with (had it with a 2004 suv) and gm refused to honor the recall because the serial number was not in the rage of their special notice even though it had excessive fuel odors.that one cost me $3200.gm has a track record of sending notices (likely to avoid legal action or being forced into a recall) and not honoring them.this is highly unsafe and could cause fire/explosion.at this point it is my hope that your agency will force gm to recall all corvettes with this problem and cover the associated costs.this notice says, in bold and underlining, do not take your vehicle to the chevrolet dealer as a result of this latte unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition described above.i had inquired about this recall on 3/8/2017 at the dealer.since the smell of fuel was not present i was told that it may not have been an affected vehicle

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that there was a fuel odor entering the vehicle. The contact noticed that there was fuel leakage coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to autonation chevrolet (23649 valencia blvd, valencia, ca 91355), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,600.

Smell of gas in the cockpit.

Theres a strong gas smell inside and outside of car after every gas fill up.

Anytime my fuel tank is more than half , there is a strong door of fuel.its very strong than it seeps through the insides of the house my its dark in the garage

Noted a spontaneous fuel smell in cabin behind drivers seat after returning to parked vehicle. At first assumed that the tank may have been overfilled. The strong fumes persisted in the cabin and also when approaching the vehicle until the fuel tank emptied below the 1/2 mark. Brought vehicle to chevy dealer just before warranty expiration. I was told it was leak tested and they could not find any leak. I have since taken it to x3 independent mechanics spending over 600.00 and none have been able to correctly diagnose or correct the problem. The fumes only occur when the tank is filled just past the 1/2 full mark. I have been told by the mechanics that the tanks would need to be dropped to find the problem this would be at a minimum cost of 1600.00$. Needless to say i have been driving my vehicle 1/2 full for over 2years now. Of course i feel my vehicle may still be potentially dangerous, not only the exposure to the fumes but also the risk of a fire or explosion and i feel that themanufacturer is being negligent by not admitting there is a problem with their design flaw. From what i understand in the corvette forum the design has been changed in newer models.

Takayuki recall. Strong gas smell in and out of car. Seems to be more likely after fill ups. Can smell stationary or while moving.

Have gas fumes in the car after filling the tank. Will dissipate after 100 miles will smell the fumes when moving, turning corners, and stationary after using the car

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette.the contact stated that there was an extremely strong odor of gasoline fuel inside and outside of the vehicle. The contact was unable to locate a fuel leak. The failure was a constant occurrence. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection where they informed the contact that malfunction was contributed to the fuel tank filler neck. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 42,500.

Fuel smell coming from car while in garage. No indication of fuel on floor only fuel smell. Worried about water heater igniting fumes and causing a fire in the house.

Fuel smell coming from car when tank is filled all the way. Heavy odor

My vehicle is producing a strong fuel odor when parked in my garage. So much so, that the fuel odor permeates the entire house. This is a known problem suffered by many c6 owners and is well documented on many corvette forums and there is even a youtube video (https://youtu.be/p9e3md122mg)revealing the problem. A crack develops in the pressure side of the fuel pump. Gm had the exact same problem with several other 2007 model vehicles and promptly ordered a recall because of the potential problem of fire or explosion if exposed to an ignition source......................... Sources:recall: 2007-2009 chevrolet cobalt / pontiac g5; 2007 chevrolet equinox / pontiac torrent / saturn ion - fuel pump campaign id #: 12v459000 [nhtsa].......................gm recalling 40,859 cars for potential fuel leaks [fox news]......................gm recalling nearly 41,000 vehicles over fuel-leak risk [los angeles times]....................what makes this this potential problem any different from those recalled vehicles. Will it take a death, serious injury or catastrophic loss for these problems to be addressed. I hope not. I think i can speak for all consumers that rely on your agency to protect us from the shortcomings ofmanufacturers of faulty products....we need your intervention in this c6 fuel pump problem !!!

Strong fuel smell coming from fender area when fuel tank is half full

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, a strong odor of fuel entered into the cabin of the vehicle. A dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 83,200.

My 2007 corvette has an issue with fuel leaking from the top of the fuel tank, and dripping around exhaust area.anytime tank is filled over 1/2 tank, i can smell fuel fumes very badly.

The vehicle smells like fuel when fuel tank is full regardless if the vehicle is on or off.

Strong vapors of raw fuel from vehicle when over 1/2 a tank of gas.dealer could not locate.gas leak was on top of tank which was not visible from underneath without removal of rear wheel well.this is documented on corvette forum asmany owners have experienced this issue.it is intermittent and caused by cracking of plastic fittingat top of the tank- appears to be a design defect.

Strong fuel smell both inside and outside the car when the gas tank is over half full. It appears to come from the left side at the fuel tank area. There is no visible leak under the car. The car has 17980 miles presently.

The car smells like gasoline after i fill it up past 1/2 a tank.once it gets below 1/2 way, it no longer smells

Bad fuel smell after filling up vehicle. Did not overflow or top off.smell fuel in cabin while car is in motion and stopped.

When i fill the car up with gas it leaks out on the ground and i can smell it very bad inside the car

Due to use of plastics that tend to crack, am now experiencing issues with fuel pump on driver's side.driving continues to produce gas smell.extremely complicated fix that requires dropping gas tank and possibly transmission to reach fuel pump.

There has been heavy fumes smell coming from my 07 corvette when the tank is fuel it is very unsafe to park it in my garage because of the strong odor and my water heater is located in the garage. I have to have the tank on low if i want to park it inside. The smell also comes inside the vehicle when it's full this hazard need to be address before the matter lead to someone getting hurt. Whatever the problem is i would think gm needs to go back and check the fuel tankand the components attach to it for cracks that not supposed to happen.

Fuel tank leaks (driver's side) out of the top when filled.gm special coverage adjustment 15682 should cover past when vehicle was 'placed in service' and instead should instead read '10 years or 120,000 miles' - this fuel leak is a serious safety issue and should be covered.

Strong fuel smell on the outside and inside of the car then you fill up.

My fuel gauge does not work and hasn't for quite some time.i purchased the car brand new. It is several years old now, but it only has 10,000 miles. This problem presented much sooner than this mileage. I am told it is the re-sending units in the gas tanks.ironic part and frustrating point is that i had another corvette, the model before this one -c5.it had the same exact problem! i'm positive that other owners are affected. I cannot get the warranty to cover the repair as it expired due to the age of the vehicle.i'm worried about these defective sensors causing a fuel fire or other serious problems. Regardless, the sensors are a defective design.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle, the contact smelled gas inside. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the seals in the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The vin was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

After refueling, i can smell gasoline in the vehicule compartment

The fuel pump is leaking due to a defective design

Could smell gas in my garage but didnt see any gas on the floor took it to my mechanic and he said fuel tank seems to have a leak but can see it! it seems to be on top of fuel tank. My corvette has 46,285 miles on it. It seems to something likethis is pretty dangerous setting in garage over night. It seems gm as on recall on this problem!

My corvette emits a very strong fuel smell both while driving and while stationary.it is most noticeable when the car is parked in the garage and shortly after driving.the issue is ongoing and occurs most frequently when the tanks are full or near full.the fumes are so strong in my garage that i get light headed and nauseous.i took the car to a dealer mechanic to have it looked at.issue was identified as a leak in the left fuel tank.from the invoice i received "found fuel leak at left tank. Remove drive line and remove left tank.found fuel module leaking.replace module and tank hoses with drive line removed.remove right tank and replace sending unit and all plastic hoses.also necessary to replace left tank harness due to fuel contamination."this repair cost $3,300.the dealership would not discount any money off of the repair even though they acknowledged that the car was not driveable in its current state and would be a safety issue to operate or store.the mechanic told me that he sees many 2007 corvettes in for this same issue.this is not an isolated case.i have seen many complaints logged about this issue.it seems like a recall needs to be done to solve this.

I have a very loud odor of gas coming from the car (2007 corvette) after i fill it up with gas. I am unable to park it insidemy garage because the smell of gas will fill my home. The smell of gas is only noticeable when the car is parked.

I have a strong smell of gasoline in and around mu 2007 corvette c6. It is caused by a defective plastic fuel pump where the fuel line exits the top of the pump on the outside of the fuel tank. It always cracks and leaks fuel. This happens to all factory installed original c6 fuel pumps. The gm replacement pump is manufactured with a different type of plastic and is not suppose to crack. My 2007 corvette has approx. 44,000 miles and has this extremely dangerous and life threaten issue. And may even burn down my garage also. Why has this pump not been recalled by gm? are you waiting until enough lives and property is lost???

Service b. : 15682gas smell; dealer telling me requires left fuel pump and crossover pipe and they will not pay for.this should be a recall as its very dangerous. I never got anything from chevy regarding this issue.have had smell issues for years.have barely driven in 2.5 years because of issue.

Smell of fuel is overbearing in the cockpit of the car while driving. It's a 2007 chevrolet corvette 2 door. Just purchased the car 3 weeks ago.

Strong fuel odor when tank is above half full. The car was parked in garage next to gas water heater.woke to house with strong gasoline odor.can only put 6 gallons of gas in car. Car is a fire hazard

Gas gage stopped working due to foulty gas tank gage in second gas tank. This car has two gas tank with two gas tank gage which number two gas gage it stops working and does not show

Fuel smell has been getting stronger and stronger

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that fuel leaked from the fuel tank while the vehicle was being refueled. While driving various speeds, the odor of fumes emitted into the vehicle. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer stated that the extended warranty had expired. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

I found the following description on the corvette forum.it describes the symptoms of my car exactly.fuel leaks out the top of the tanks, and will then drip down the back side onto the hot exhaust. If ignored this could result in a fire and possible death.if parked overnight in a garage, the vapor will fill the garage and could easily be triggered into an explosion and fire from a gas water heater or other ignition source.

Gas leaking from the drivers side fuel tank when the tanks are more than half full

After having all the fluids changed at my chevrolet dealer, which included a transmission flush and differential service (which happen to be right by the fuel tanks) a strong fuel smell was evident when parked in garage. Took vehicle back to dealer who determined spider cracking at fuel output elbow on top of fuel pump causing fuel leak when fuel pump on. Replaced fuel pump and crossover feed lines. $1720.00

2007 chevrolet corvette began smelling of fuel upon fill-up on 8/15/2014. Chevrolet dealer in cary, nc claimed to have diagnosed the issue and charged for diagnostic fee, said end result was faulty fuel cap so it was replaced. Total for this was $42.08. Upon next fill-up, the smell persisted without any change from before diagnosis at chevrolet dealer.approximately 7 weeks later, fuel smell had worsened slightly and also the engine was making a "chattering" sound.since chevrolet dealer could not determine the fuel smell issue correctly, i chose a highly reputable independent shop and they immediately found the problems. The "chattering" sound was a faulty harmonic balancer, a known issue with the chevrolet corvette engines and cost ~$1,100 to repair using chevrolet parts. The fuel smell was due to a cracked driver side fuel tank (corvettes use two fuel tanks) which was easily found by this independent shop once the car was lifted. The factory-installed driver side fuel tank had shrunk and cracked, trapping the fuel pump inside, thus forcing the tank and pump to be replaced, along with all related seals and parts. Total to repair these fuel related issues was ~2,700, for a grand total of $3,803.27. Upon performing further research, many corvette owners have had the exact same problem--driver side fuel tank cracks over time and every online reference found indicates that gm covers the issue. I contacted chevrolet and was told that i only had a 2-year/24-month warranty on these issues. I find that to be ridiculous, especially since the same issue is occurring on cars of this type across the country. It seems as if chevrolet and chevrolet dealers pick and choose who they cover these items for, which is even more ridiculous because i don't think it should be necessary that i have to keep fighting just to be taken care of the way i should have been in the first place.

Whenever the fuel tank is filled more than half full, a very strong smell of gasoline is present in the car.there are no visible leaks, but the smell is so bad that the car cannot be parked in my garage, or driven with the windows rolled up in thiscondition.this does not produce any check engine or service engine warning lights the smell is present whether stationary or moving with more than a half tank of fuel..i believe that the source of the problem has something to do with either the line running to the fuel pump on top of the tank, or the crossover pipe between the two tanks.

Received an extended warranty letter from chev in mid feb 2017 stating my vehicle may experience fuel leak and if leak is suspected to have vehicle inspected at chev dealer and if vehicle has been in service for less than 10 yrs and has less than 120,000 miles, chev will repair at no charge. Vehicle was inspected at dealer (due to fuel oder) and condition was confirmed. Dealer will not honor repair and quoted cost at $1338. Chev customer service stated that vehicle was in service since nov 2006 and extended warranty was no longer valid because it had exceeded the 10 yr parameter by 3 mo when issue was reported. Mileage was at 55,552. I believe the issue was present before nov 2006 but the fuel odor was not detected until the letter was received and until i checked the vehicle (both stationary and in motion). This vehicle is generally not driven in winter months. I also believe that any fuel leakage is a safety hazard and that the leakage is caused by a design deficiency and affected vehicles should be recalled and repaired free of charge by the manufacturer regardless of delivery date (due to design deficiency). I will send a copy of this hazard report to chevrolet. Their case # is 8-2782315093. Thank you for your assistance.

Last month when i filled the gas tank i had a strong oder of gas when i parked my car in the garage. Now i smell gas in the car as i drive it. I did not overflow the gas tank upon refill.

The car has developed a terrible gasoline odor. The cause is the faulty plastic fitting at the top of the fuel pump assembly. There is a visible fuel leak running down the tank. The car is not safe and fills with fumes. I cannot park the car inside and fear that the car is dangerous.

I'm smelling fuel whenever i fill my vehicle. I never over fill it. When the pump stops i stop and don't try to force more gas in it. When parked over night my entire garage smells like fuel. So to keep from having a disaster i park my vehicle outside in the driveway.

When i fill up vehicle of course with not over flowing or topping it off there is a strong smell of gason driver side no signs of leak and smell is very noticeable in cabin as well. Smell is strong in garage when left in over night even when not filling up this issue has been there could have half a tank and maybe put additional 5 dollars to get to 3/4 tank issue is still there.

My 07 has a strong odor of gas by driver side and tank...also on bottom of tank had drips on tank cannot put my car in garage cause the fumes are intense and afraid it might start a fire in my home and also the car ...i like this car very much and want to keep it in garage but due to this i cannot. I work out of town and i hate to come back and my house be on fire something needs to be done about this issue..according to researchit seems to be my car is not the only one they need to recall this issue and before someone gets burn in car or their house burns down it can cause serious injuries..

Fuel smell in the cabin

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While driving various speeds, a strong odor of fuel was detected inside the vehicle and the check engine indicator illuminated. Even when there was fuel in the vehicle, the fuel gauge indicator showed that the vehicle was empty. In addition, the fuel indicator was illuminated. The contact stated that the failures occurred periodically. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 126,000.

Recently, 03/01/2021, filling gas tank to over 1/2 full on my parked 2007 c6 corvette, with 30,360 miles, parked vehicle caused strong interior gas odor.on further investigation and communication with gm, i was informed fuel pump was a known issue. The fuel pump was then redesigned to solve this issue; however, replacement of faulty fuel pump was only given a warranty extension instead of recall.consequently, i was never given a notice of the dangerous condition that existed in my vehicle, which is now beyond that extended warranty period for specific parts; and, as an owner, i was never noticed of this known issue because it is not required unless it is a recall.apparently the car has two tanks that are shared.when over 1/2 filled, gasoline can leak and puddle on top of the tanks.when moving, the gasoline can then leak down on the hot exhaust and cause a fire.i am now fearful of driving my car due to the gasoline vapors, and was advised by van chevrolet to have the car towed for repair, as this issue could cause a fire or explosion, or the fumes could cause the driver to pass out and have an accident. The cost of this repair is over $2500!i would have had it repaired if it were a recall because i would have been notified of the hazard.car was parked when i first noticed the problem and have not driven it since.the risk of a fire, explosion, or accident is too great until it is repaired!gm assigned case# 9-6616976804, but is currently informing that it is no longer covered.since no notification was given to owners, owners were not aware of the issue until too late, saving gm millions of dollars, as they would have been responsible for replacing large numbers of the faulty fuel pump had a recall been issued which requires registering recalls with the gm dealers, and notifying the owners.*dt

Gas fumes constantly coming out from around thecar mostly from the drivers side rear.....entering inside of car

Strong gas smell in the cabin, no visible gasoline wet spots on the ground.the vehicle is not safe to drive because of the gas fumes strong odor in the cabin.i get headaches and nausea.

Fuel leak from fuel pump and cross over tubes.originally detected by a very strong gas odor in the garage.the odor and fuel is leaking and visible when the car is stationary.the fuel smell is also strong while driving.

Began to notice a strong odor of fuel emitting from the garage.this would occur every time i filled up my vehicle and parked in the garage.since my water heater is located in the garage and for the safety of my family, vehicle was moved outdoors.received notice from gm that they were aware of issue and that repairs would be covered.drove vehicle to local dealership, where i was told that the notice had expired.wound up paying $2600 in repair cost.

2007 corvette z06 with ls7 engine e. Valve train began making usual noises. Factory valve guides found to be out of specifications. Heads removed and factory valve guides and exhaust valves removed and replaced.

I purchased the vehicle a few months after tsb n150682 was issued. It could be dangerous with the leaky fuel and smell.

When pressing in the clutch to come to a complete stop the clutch peddle remained on the floor and i had to hold down hard on the break peddle to stop and stall the engine. The car was in gear and after stopping i was able to shift into natural (six speed manual transmission). I was grateful this occurred at a low rate of speed and no traffic behind me. I can only imagine what could of happen if the failure occurred while in traffic at a higher rate of speed. The car was towed to a chevy dealer and the service technician said the clutch master cylinder internal seal was ruptured and needs to be replaced. He also indicated that the slave cylinder may also need to be replaced. This car has less than 12,000 miles.

After starting, with foot on brake, car still, the car will not shift out of park. (automatic transmission)

Car will not shift out of park after starting. This has now happened several times. Internet search reveals that this is a common problem with solenoid.

Automatic shifter sticks in park when trying to shift it

After starting vehicle, it will not shift out of park. It is locked into park. Vehicle could leave you stranded and in danger due to this failure.

Car sticks in park at times and is hard to get out of park, happens often for past year

Given for my previous complaint to be submitted as a correction.the number of occurrences of the problem with the automatic transmission getting stuck in park has occurred with increasing frequency since 2014, the most recent occurrence was on 9/05/16 at the dealership where i bought the car.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Shifter of auto. Trans. Sticks in park.this is dangerous if your stuck in traffic, emergency vehicle is being blocked, or at railray crossing with train coming, or trying to get away from a forest fire. Over 3000 hits on you-tube for this problem with 2006 and 2007 corvettes and maybe others.chevrolet will not fix problem.only 14,000 miles on my car!!! car is stationary in park, and won't move!!!

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While the vehicle was parked, the gear shifter failed to shift out of gear. In addition, while driving, the gear shifter failed to shift back into park and prevented the doors from opening. The failure recurred a few times. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

Transmission will not shift out of park. Dealer replaced brake switch. Still have same issue.

After taking shift handle out of park will not engage in any gear

Stationary vehicle gets stuck in park. Never certain that the vehicle can be put into drive or reverse. Behavior is random-it can take several tries over minutes to shift out of park. Dealer replaced brake switch-didn't improve behavior. Sometimes i use the recommended "accessory mode" to shift-this takes several tries as well & has failed at times to get vehicle into gear. Behavior started in 2016.

Returned from a drive.backed car into parking spot and transmission will not go into park.as a result, can not restart car.

It was happen this year multiple times the transmission shipter problem i could not get off the park position, i have to push the shipter forwards and press down the brake paddle harder several times so it could get off the park after i start the engine , it sometime take about 5 minutes stuck on park after i did all that above

I start the engine with my foot on the brake the shifter is stuck in park, i turn the engine off tried starting after 5 minutes same thing unable to get it out of park.

Transmission shifter at times is stuck in park. Have to restart engine and press down on brakes several times to get it out of park. You can hear when the solenoid energizes and finally unlocks the shifter. Just started this year after 41,000 miles on car.

On several occasions the vehicle would not shift out of park.it is an automatic transmission and it just becomes "frozen" in park mode. For instance- while waiting in a long line at the bank, i decided to shift out of gear until the line moved. It wouldn't budge. If an emergency situation arose- i would be unable to move. Many other corvette owners are experiencing this same problem. Some of them have done a "fix" that bypassed other equipment and could be dangerous. My car only has 27,000 miles on it - this should not be happening! many of the other affected owners have gone to chevrolet and have gotten the run around, because they say they need to see it happen in order to fix it. Well it happens randomly so that is a little hard.i think the problem is with a solenoid or safety feature that hangs up. Please help. I am a girl and i need a car that doesn't leave me stranded all the time!

Transmission is locked in neutral or drive and cannot shut off engine or place car in reverse or park. Had to disconnect the battery to shut off the engine. Once off, the engine could not be restarted and had to manually push the vehicle to get it off the street. This is a major safety issue--fortunately i was not on a railroad tracks when this happened!

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated when the vehicle was started. The contact stated that the vehicle had been at the dealer five other times for the same warning indicator. Various components were repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was at the contact's residence awaiting an appointment date. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 67,000...updated 07/31/17

Can not shift out of park on my 2007 corvette automatic transmission. Solenoid not releasing park lock. Car was stationary in my garage

I was driving down my street ready to downshift my clutch as i prepared to enter my driveway. I lost control of my clutch as the pedal went to the floor and did not return.i almost lost control of my vehicle since i was not sure in that split moment on how to slow down my vehicle as i was preparing to enter my driveway. I immediately had to hit my brake pedal very hard to slow down my vehicle and came to a stop inches from hitting my home. I only wonder if i had been traveling on the highway or at some high rate of speed, what would have happened to my vehicle if could not engage my clutch and drive my vehicle. Since my powertrain became inoperable, i felt like i had no control of the vehicle. This is a dangerous condition and gm should have recalled the vehicle. Gm is very aware that the clutch could fail. They sent me a letter 4 years ago (copy attached) telling me they found an internal failure in the master clutch cylinder. But gm would not replace the clutch. That is dangerous situation to be driving and not sure when your you could lose control of your vehicle. I am lucky to be alive and unharmed today despite gm's failure to replace this defective clutch.

Arrived home after a short drive, automatic shifter button would not depress so i was locked out of reverse and park, only have neutral and drive. Also was unable to turn car off, had to remove negative battery cable to keep from draining battery. With battery reconnected the accessories are still on and can't be turned off unless negative is removed. Also the car will not start in neutral.

Transmission selector safety lockout fails.transmission will stay locked in park or can not be returned to park.

Automatic transmission gear shifter locked in park.

Automatic 6-speed transmission with auxiliary paddle shifters on steering wheel.when the car is stopped and in park, the console stick shifter gets stuck at random times after car has been stopped/parked and i can't put the stuck shifter into gear (it won't budge out of park).if the vehicle has been stopped and put into park momentarily in a hazardous area, e.g., a railroad track, and if the shifter stick is stuck in park, then the vehicle can not be moved off of the track until the shifter can be moved and the drivetrain engaged.turning the engine off does not help.the amount of time before the running car with stuck shifter can be put into gear seems to be random, i.e. After the engine has been running for a minute or so.the dealer who sold me the car seems to be aware of other complaints of this nature from corvette c6 a6 owners.

Automatic shifter will lock in park and will lock and not move.car can be running, in park, and it is impossible to move the shifter.restarting or using accessory mode will sometimes unlock.often you are just stuck and car must be towed

After driving the car for approximately two miles i stopped the car to park. After stopping, the shifting control lever would not shift into reverse or park. The shifter safety system in the lever failed.

While driving the clutch pedal went to the floor and my standard 2007 corvette could not be shifted. Car was flat-bedded to dealer as car was not drivable. I could have been killed in heavy freeway traffic. My vehicle had 8656 miles approx. Apparently gm issued service bulletins on this problem, redesigned the clutch master cylinder and issued an extended warranty for 10 years or 100,000 miles there was no recall. Gm was to have noticed all owners of this problem but did not in my case. When i called gm they said that they were sorry but would not indemnify me for the $2,912.18 cost to replace the master and slave clutch cylinders. In my case i was in a parking lot in motion. So luckily i am still breathing.

Shifter at times is stuck in park, 2007 corvette auto-transmission shifter at times is stuck in park. Have to restart engine and press down on brakes several times or shut off engine press access. Mode repeatedly to get it out of park. You can hear when the solenoid energizes and finally unlocks the shifter. Just started this year after 6,000 miles on car. Request research help

Driving down the highway and a big black cloud of smoke starting spewing out so i pulled over.had it towed to a corvette specialist and they informed me that piston #7 was cracked.i still have the cracked piston in my possession, i've attached photos.

Vehicle gets stuck in park.it will take numerous attempts at pushing the shift knob and pressing the brake pedal before vehicle will finally release and shifts out of park.

Transmission sometimes sticks in park & will not come out. The solenoide sticks & will not release.

When starting my car would not shift out of park. Service center said shifter went out completely my car only has 57,000 miles. I told them i had been having a hard time getting it out of park to reverse to even put it in drive. This has happen several times.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the gear shift control failed to engage. I was rear ended on monday 08/02/21 at approximately 2:45pm in atlanta, ga.the impact of the accident caused my driver's seat back to collapse backwards. Now i have back pain that i did not have previously.the seats should be recalled and repaired immediately.

While turning into a gas station the vehicle front left brake locked and pulled the vehicle hard left hitting a curbed area. The active handling system error was displayed. I applied brakes, waited for a few seconds and was able to continue.

I was pulling out of a gas station, all of sudden my front breaks locked up. This scares me what if i am on the highway.

My brake lights stay on without my foot on the brake.when i put my foot on the brake the brake lights go off.

Service active handling appeared on my dic. The lights for the abs were also lit. There was no traction control on my vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While driving approximately 75 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to operate. As a result, the contact coasted into an intersection to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air condition motor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 121,000.

When making a slow left turn the front brakes on the car locked up. "service stability system" message can on. Car wouldn't go over 5-6 mph until system was turned off.

Service vehicle active handling system warning is on in vehicle. After reading online that the brakes can activate on their own without brake lights i no longer feel safe driving the car. A case number hase been generated with gm customer service.

The shift interlock fails has fail 3 times since i owned the car. The selonoide that tells the shifter that the brake is pressed locks up. (cant shift out of park) the driver cant put the car in any gear. Gm fixed it by replacing the whole shifter and not upgrading the failed part. They just put another bad shifter in its place. I had one time where i could not put the car in park, this the engine would not shut off. I had to force the shifter forward almost to breaking point to shut the engine.

While driving in heavy traffic, the steering wheel popped out and dropped into my lap. Seems as if entire steering column fell, as well as spring loaded action of actual steering wheel. I was able to lift up and apply pressure forward onto steering wheel to regain control of steering, but had to hold wheel in place.

Every time i drive my car there's a message on the dic that tells me to service active handling system. This light comes on whenever it wants to. I have done some research and it looks like there are multiple corvettes with this problem.

This car intermittently locks the steering column.no reason.the engine shuts off at speed.

Car tracsion control keeps turning off and gives error message "service active handling"

I have had my new 2007 corvette for only a few days and have only 37 miles on it (26 miles at purchase), but i am already very disappointed in the vehicles steering.i have had 5 corvettes and have always owned one as an adult and i truly feel that the steering in this 2007 corvette is ?unsafe?.when driving home from the gm dealer, the vehicle skipped sideways on rough roads at a moderate speed (20-40 mph).i got online to the corvette forum and was immediately referred to the sep 07, car and driver magazine article specifically addressing this steering issue.the professional drivers in the article, rate the 2007 corvette steering as ?unsatisfactory and makes the drivers understandably nervous.gm has made huge improvements in the chevys handling and has redesigned the steering in the 2008 corvette with improved steering feel.i would really like something done.i am 59 years old and i want this to be my last corvette, but i want a safe, responsive corvette that is stable on the mountain roads where i live.i live in a small mountain town that has rough asphalt roads that highlight the 2007 corvette steering problem.for someone else with a 2007 corvette that has access to good roads and interstate highways, they may not notice the ?sideways skip? and the ?out of control? feeling that i get in this vehicle.the vehicle is unsafe and needs to be fixedi have requested that gm replace the steering in my 2007 with the 2008 or replace it with a 2008 corvette.the service request number (srn) is 71-550-870-246.this is a manufacture defect and gm has solved this problem in the 2008 corvette.gm has reviewed the problem and has stated that there is no recall at this time and has determined not to help me. They will not do anything until someone is killed or injured. Can you please help me.

Service vehicle active handling system warning is on in vehicle. After reading online that the brakes can activate on their own without brake lights i no longer feel safe driving the car. A case number hase been generated with gm customer service.

While turning into a gas station the vehicle front left brake locked and pulled the vehicle hard left hitting a curbed area. The active handling system error was displayed. I applied brakes, waited for a few seconds and was able to continue.

We have a 2007 c6, 3 lt with only 9,400 miles.its over 3 years old so its out of warranty. We were driving in the mountains and heard a clunk and something fall within the steering column. We noticed the steering wheel got loose and was sort of sagging down. Got home and pulled the lower kick panel loose and found a pivot pin that goes in the left side of the tilt part of the steering column. When i pulled the covers off the steering column, i found the other pin about to fall out. I reinstalled them and everything seems to be okay now. Scary thought to be driving in the mountains, especially colorado mountains, to think the steering wheel would fall off in your lap. I put the pins in 2 times the last time i put loctite on them. It has lasted about 7000 miles. Now the are lose again.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette.while driving 30 mph, the steering becomes difficult to maneuver and causes the vehicle to skid sideways.the contact called gm and they informed him that the failure was due to a manufacturer defect.there are no recalls available for this failure.the vehicle has not been to the dealer.the current mileage was 37 and failure mileage was 26.the consumer stated the vehicle skipped sideways while driving on rough roads at a moderate speed of 20-40 mph. The steering has an out of control feeling. Updated 09/18/07.

Thank you.

On sharp turns, front right brake pulses and temporarily loss of steering occurs. Service active handling message appears on dic. Very dangerous.*

Service active handling system warning has been on now for better than three weeks. While the car isin motion.

Traction control/active handling malfunction. "service traction control" & "service active handling" messages started shown in dic. From numerous web forums, it's common problem in 2005-2008 corvette. Many drivers experienced their brake locked up at high speed. It didn't occur to my car (just messages), but it could potentially fatal issue. Yet, gm hasn't issues recall to fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While driving 65 mph, the service active handling system warning light illuminated on the warning panel. The contact reviewed nhtsa campaign id number 10v172000 (steering, column); yet, when contacting the dealer, he was advised that the recall did not exist. The dealer did not repair the vehicle or perform a diagnostic test since the contact had not experienced a direct failure. The manufacturer advised the contact to have a diagnostic test performed at his expense to determine if repairs were necessary. The failure and current mileages were 10,640.

Just bought a new 2007 corvette.vehicle "skips sideways" at moderate speeds (30 mph) on rough roads.this is a know gm manufacture defect that was completely fixed in the 2008 corvette.experienced the "skip sideways" on the way home from the chevrolet dealer.vehicle had 26 miles on it when purchased and now has 37 miles on it.i got online to the "corvette forum" and was immediately referred to the sep 07 car and driver magazine article specifically addressing this issue.the professional drivers in the article rate the 2007 corvette steering as "unsatisfactory" and "makes the drivers understandably nervous".i feel that the steering is "unsafe" in the 2007 corvette.gm has "made huge improvements in the chevy's handling" and has completely redesigned the steering in the 2008 corvette.i have requested that gm replace the steering in my 2007 corvette with the 2008 or replace it with a 2008 corvette.

Was driving 45 down highway and the top for my 2007 corvette coupe started came off. It broke off one of the latches, before i could grab it and unlatch them both to bring into the car. The top then broke the back latch and flew off onto highway street. No vehicles were on the road at the time other than mine thankfully. Currently looking to have top replaced.

As i was driving away from my home to work, i was still on the main road of my community.the removable top of my 2007 corvette coupe flew off.this occurred on martin king's birthday celebration in 2009.i am glad it happened on this day since the number of vehicles were fewer due to school and government offices were closed.on jan 2010, i discovered that gm had a recall with the removable top.i have called gm and they have stated my car is not part of the recall. However before the top came off and now, i have the same problems as noted in the recall.my removable top makes noise as i drive over bumps and i hear wind noises when i drive.

My 2007 chevrolet corvette coupe has since original purchase has made popping noises.it has been taken to the dealership several times.i even took it once and told them there was a recall on some tops.they informed me that my was not included.the first couple of times i took it in the dealership did do something that made an improvement but the noises comes back.now it is a constant and embarrassing noise from the top.even though it is not included in your recall i question whether a top might have been put on to make the sale since i wanted a painted top instead of a glass top.this is my 4th corvette and have nothing but bad experiences with glass tops.my question is:what can i do about these noises.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the removable roof made a snapping and cracking noise. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 09v491000 (structure: body: roof and pillars). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 61,000.

Snapping sounds coming from the glass roof of my 2007 model year chevrolet corvette, purchased in august of 2006.especially noticeable in temperature changes and rough road surfaces.recall already in progress for 2005-2007 model year, but my car is not included as told to me by gm representative.i can have the car diagnosed by chevy, but at my cost.cannot understand why my vehicle is not included in the recall, especially when it has the symptoms described in the recall information.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that the roof started making a popping noise when driving over road bumps or when driving at high speeds. In addition, water was leaking from the roof and into the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and inquired of nhtsa campaign id number: 09v491000 (structure: body: roof and pilars). The contact mentioned that the failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 23,888.

Roof panel separation recall. My vehicle is out of vin range for this recall and was not honored. Today the panel separation has gotten worse as wind sounds has entered the cabin from the roof at 65mph on the highway. The panel is separating from the frame due to bad glue.

I recently purchased a used 2007 corvette with targa top. The targa top makes a snapping noise as described in the nhtsa recall information. There is a loud snapping noise made when closing doors, engaging in gear, and especially loud when going over bumps of any kind. Cheverlot states that my vin, even though a 2007 with the targa top making the loud snapping noise, is not covered in the recall.

Fuel pools on top of fuel tank when you fill up. Strong order of gasoline until fuel level lows in tank. Vapors enters in the interior of car. This happen with each fill up.

Popping noises coming from roof panel at low rate of speed as well as fast rate. Recall # 090230 found via internet. Dealership as well as gm both notified. They both stated that this vin # was not included in the recall. Recall states 2005-2007 corvette roof panel recall. Apparently other vin #'s should be included in this recall to avoid possible injury or fatalities from roof panels that fly off.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. While driving 65 mph, the targa convertible top flew off the vehicle. The contact was able to retrieve the convertible top from the side of the roadway. Service active handling appeared on my dic. The lights for the abs were also lit. There was no traction control on my vehicle.

No bolts on the rear leaf spring. This could have caused a major accident. I have pictures.. The car leaf spring dislodged an inch and locked up the left side suspension causing the car to bouce on bumps in the road.

On 2006 and 2007 chevy corvette's the rear axle nut works itself lose. My "07" has 4,200 miles on it. I checked the nut's and found the drivers side tight. But the passenger side was 3/4 turn short of snug, and well short of the 118lb torsue requirement. I heard about it on one of the vette forum boards. Chevy has done nothing to alert folks of the problem. There are many people in my club that of retirement age and do little if any of the maintenance on their cars. They had no idea of this happening.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. The contact stated that the vehicle's tire pressure monitoring system did not alert when the tire pressure was low or when a tire was flat. On sharp turns, front right brake pulses and temporarily loss of steering occurs. Service active handling message appears on dic. Very dangerous.*

While pulling/turning into traffic on a busy street.. My car's traction control system malfunctioned, and i was unable to accelerate, thus almost causing an accident.since the incident.. I have experienced this issue a number of times.it can be very dangerous, as i now have to consider my car unstable while turning.

2007 chevy corvette 40k miles getting sporadic "service active handling" warning on driver information center. No crash (yet). I'm merely reporting a safety concern that is apparently already under investigation.

The contact owns a 2007 chevrolet corvette. As soon as the contact started the vehicle, the traction control, anti-lock brake system, and service engine soon warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 36,000...updated 09/11/17

I have a 2007 corvette, i was at a railroad crossing waiting for the train to pass so i put my shifter into park.when the train passed i tried to take the shifter out of park and it would not move (it was stuck in park.upon woring with it several minutes i did get it to move.this has happened several times since, so i called my gm garage and told me it is a common problem with 2005 - 2007 corvettes.luckly i only encountered a little embarrasment , one one got hurd (thank god).it has happened at my home, stores, to my wife and anytime.i am able to turn on my acc then shift to nutral and start the vet then shift into gear.i am taing to be repaired and been told by gm garage the entire shifter has to be replaced. Not cool on a car with less than 29,000 miles and never abused.

Shifter stuck in drive or neutral. This prevents properly shutting car down and exiting the car.

Car gets stuck in gear, cannot shift into reverse, drive etc. Control part#25913058 (gm) very dangerous if in traffic and put car i neutral and can't get it out of gear with cars speeding by. Chevrolet refuses to reimburse for parts and labor. Mileage-29,994.

I was sold a non-fedral emissions compliant car and the dealer will not do anything about it. Please see the attached pdf file.

The shift button will not depress and will not shift out of park. Intermitten issue. It can take upto 50 attempts before it will work. Dealer claims it isnt and issue if they cannot repeat the problem.

The subframe radiator core support broke. In order to complete the repair the battery was disconnected. After the repair was complete the battery was reconnected.now the radio doesn't display thegps clock. Clockdoesn't work it will not let you set the clock display.i read onlinethat the satellite codes were reset for vehicles years 2005-2011. So when the batter is disconnected the radio software goes haywire when this problem is brought to chevrolet attention the garage said that reprograming the radio could fix the problem cost $160.00 this should be recalled and fixed at chevrolet garage on their dime they caused the problem they should provide the fix cost free several forums in the corvette community are available online no one has a fix listed for this problem happened while stationary problem is constant disconnect batterythen reconnect batteryregardless if your doing a repair or replacing the battery the radio software goes haywire and the clock doesn't display and won't let you set it it won't enter into any set mode

Transmission shifter at times is stuck in park. Have to restart engine and press down on brakes several times to get it out of park. You can hear when the solenoid energizes and finally unlocks the shifter. Just started this year after 51,000 miles on car. Request researchhelp

On this car there is no way to manually open the convertible top in the down position.the spot where there is a hole depicted in the car manual where a button to push to manuallyopen the top is missing.i view this as a safety problem.

Without the abilityto search a database for tsb implementation, i have no way to determine if my used car purchase has been fixed per the manufacturer recommendation outlined in the tsb.on my particular vehicle, i am not able to ascertain if the fuel leak issue was repaired!!tsb implementation needs to be handled similar to safety recalls to prevent serious problems for unsuspecting used car buyers.

On several occasion when i have filled my car i have had gas run out inside the fender.i have also smelled gas on several occasions after filling up

While pulling/turning into traffic on a busy street.. My car's traction control system malfunctioned, and i was unable to accelerate, thus almost causing an accident.since the incident.. I have experienced this issue a number of times.it can be very dangerous, as i now have to consider my car unstable while turning.

I was pulling out of a gas station, all of sudden my front breaks locked up. This scares me what if i am on the highway.

When i fill my car up with gas it very loud like gas is leaking

The rear window in the 2007 chevrolet corvette has a design flaw and causes distortion to the point it makes one dizzy when looking through the rear view mirror.the window has been replaced twice by the dealership, however they state they will no longer do anything any more about it.this distortion is found in all of the corvettes at the dealership, the regional manager looked at them and has said they will not do anything more, as it appears it is the problem lies in the design.no where in the owner's manual, advertisements, or such does it list this vehicle has a distorted rear window due to it being curved. When driving this vehicle and looking in the rear view mirror, one can not identify vehicles or how close they are to my car and i have almost had several accidents with this car due to the problem.one can not look through the rear view mirror through the rear window, for any length of time before dizziness and headaches occur.this is a safety issue and needs to be addressed immediately.at night the glare of headlights make it even worse.there are many other curved windows that do not have the distortion.

Vehicle has had a noise when backing up coming from the rear since i bought it in 2007, complained to eagle chevrolet-say its normal and they did nothing. Now had rear differential problems and had to pay to have it drained and refilled. Gm fluid-gm refuses to re-imburse.car no longer has that noise. Could have caused major issues and an accident if it was not repaired. Complaint about lack of warranty service when new.
