Bad airbag sensor in back of front bumper. Was told if not replaced, airbags would not deploy. Not covered under warranty and no recall found.

Noises coming from steering wheel from day the truck was new has been my complaint. I took the truck to the dealer several times for repairs. Gm and their dealer j.p. Chevrolet in peru, il. Installed felt tape inside the air bag compartment the first and second attempt which did not work. Now they have smeared krytox grease on all the horn components right behind the air bag thinking this will work. Has not helped.over and over i have asked for gm and the dealer to replace my steering wheel to no avail. Gm and j.p. Chevrolet in peru, il. Will not do this.i am at my wits end with the run around.i truly believe gm is waiting for the years end warranty to complete so they can write it off the books and tell me it's your problem now.i hope you can help.

Radio display would start to scroll up and down.now the display of mileage, oil life percentage remaining, tire air pressure display and other options supposed to be previously available through push buttons located on steering wheel are not able to be accessed.

The driverswindow, when i press the down button on the control the window will start to go down then close by itself, also i had an issue today11/13/19, i was able to get the window to roll down, but then no matter how much i tried the window wouldn't roll up..the vehicle is usually in motion when i have had the issue of the window rolling up on its own,

The ignition key won't release at times, and has been happening for months now.the engine will turn off, but some accessories remain on.sometimes i can fiddle with the key or the shift lever, but in a worse case i need to disconnect a battery cable, take the key out, and reconnect the battery. A dealer examination said it was some kind of switch malfunctioning and it would cost over $300.gm/chevrolet only offered $10 reduction.many people apparently are having this problem.

The vehicle was on a street stopped at a stoplight with the left turn signal on and in drive. The vehicle radio and electrical system powered off and reset without known cause and the vehicleengine and electrical system shut down. The vehicle was restarted by placing the vehicle in park and using the key to start normally.

I purchased a brand new 2016 chevrolet colorado duromax diesel in september of 2016.at 9,638 miles the check engine light came on for the nox sensor.the dealership replaced them but it did not fix anything.as it turns out the issue was a recall which reprogrammedthe ecu.they decided to make the tolerances looser on the sensors.at 10,647 miles there was a loud wining coming from the rear of the vehicle.the race to the pinion bearing in the rear differential was pitted and causing the bearing to fail.the rear differential needed to be rebuilt.at 22715 miles the truck would go into reduced power mode which is 25 miles per hour in the middle of the freeway causing other motorists to swerve to avoid a collision.when the truck was turned off and turned back on the error would clear and the vehicle was drivable again.the dealership could not replicate the issue so it took many visits before they replaced the accelerator pedal position sensor.after this did not fix the issue and almost caused another accident the vehicle was taken in and the complete wiring harness was replace.the technician stated that the connectors were improperly crimped at the factory.the truck is now at the dealership again at 26,000 miles to replace the diesel exhaust fluid pump.this fault also causes the vehicle to go into reduced power mode which almost caused an accident again.this vehicle is not reliable, dangerous, and i do not feel safe driving it, especially when my family is with me.i contacted chevrolet customer assistance team concentrix on behalf of chevrolet to seek a solution on a brand new vehicle that had major problems.the representative did not care and told me to pursue a resolution on my own.

While the vehicle remained in motion taking a turn on a roundabout, the vehicles power steering and stabilitrak suddenly turns off causing the vehicle to become very difficult to steer and near impossible to complete the turn. The situation happened twice in roundabouts in the past couple months. One of the times this happened my wife was driving while my two young children were in the vehicle. She described hitting the curb, because of lack of arm strength to pull the wheel. The issue resolves when you can safely park and restart the vehicle. After taking it to the dealer it was confirmed there was an electrical issue with the "steering gear pinion" and appears to be a known safety issue with chevy colorado's. The dealer mentioned the cost to replace this electrical component including labor was an upwards of 1800 dollars. For 2015 model years it appears 3000 vehicles were recalled for this exact issue, however a broader recall was not extended to the 2016 model year. After contacting gm it was expressed that they would not cover my vehicle under this recall at this time. I was charged for the diagnostic fee to determine the cause of issue.

Driving down the road, vehicle in use, manufacturer installed touch screen with suddenly move on it's own, changing the radio stations, flipping through options, turning off directional aids, screen will flash. It has once called onstar on it's own. Also changes the screen in the center of the driver's screen on the dashboard at the same time so eyes are shifted to it from the road, causes a distraction. Dead spots on screen leaves you unable to try to remedy the situation. Vehicles has less than 50k miles. I do have a video available but unable to upload here. Continuously happens, not just once but each time vehicle is driven.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact called behalf of the driver. While driving various speeds, the temperature gauge increased to 210. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

Today about 4:00 pm driving down the interstate my truck lost all electric dash and radio while driving stayed cranked going 70 mph around robert louisiana couldnā€™t see speed donā€™t know what is happening with this truck but it has several safety issues from brake assist lights that come on to radio and dash going off

Engine revs high coming to a stop. Required both feet pressed hard on the bakes to emergency stop. Speed control quits working then service-stability control comes on, car starts to handle ackwardly, pulls to left then. Cut engine off and it resets, but the cruise control stops working and then that service stability control comes back on.if i don't put on the cruise control, i don't get that stability control message so far. Braking problem happens when comes to a stop. Cruise control happens at highway speeds but sometimes going 45 mph.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. While exiting a parking lot at 15 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn and the power steering and traction control warning indicators illuminated. The contact continued to drive the vehicle home without power steering ability. When the contact arrived home, he powered off the engine, restarted the vehicle, and everything was fine. The contact also stated that the back -up camera indicated "track not available" on the instrument panel. The contact called koons tysons chevrolet buick gmc (2000 chain bridge rd, vienna, va 22182, (703) 790-9800) and scheduled an appointment. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. Dashboard settings/radio/backup camera display unit goes blank and resets resulting in loss of backup camera availability.usually, on start up but continuing for up to 15 minutes during which settings and backup camera are unavailable.usually when stationary but has also happens while backing up.dealers have been unable to find a fix under warrantee.has happened occasionally butrepeatedly since i purchased the vehicle new in march of 2017.

On february 21, 2017 while making a right turn, my 2016 chevrolet colorado 4wd crew cab turned itself off. On february 22, 2017 richard lucas chevrolet looked at the vehicle for 5 hours an drove the vehicle around several times and were "unable to duplicate concern." i was told to call back if the issue ever popped up again, but it was believed to be unlikely. March 28, 2017 while driving home from work, my colorado ignition made a click noise, and the ignition key turned itself off yet again. This time around was much different than the first occurrence as i had no brakes to stop the vehicle. To stop the vehicle i had to shift into park which i was able to do. Vehicle will be returning to the richard lucas auto center to be reevaluated. On the first occurrence the vehicle was in motion on a county road while completing a turn and the second time it happened while going straight on a residential street.

My 2016 colorado has been having problems turning the key off. I am having to put it in reverse and drive several times to get the key out. I have a case number with gm but have to have diagnostics done on my cost as the warranty ran out a few months back. I have researched this and there are thousands of colorado and canyons that owners are having the same problem. Leave your keys in the vehicle and you have a dead battery. I paid $38,000 for this vehicle and they don't want to fix it unless i pay. We are elderly and concerned we will be stranded somewhere due to this problem.

My power steering on my 2016 chevrolet colorado went out on a 30mph turn and nearly lost control of my truck. As i was driving, i slowed to make a stop on a city street when there was a sudden loss of power steering. It was very difficult to steer and turn but i made it to the side of the road. The vehicle did not lose power or shut off. The message said there was a loss in power steering and to seek service. The traction control and stability track warning lights turned on. I turned off the vehicle. This problem happened about 4 months ago and had not reappeared until the last few days06/19/2021 .now it happen twice since. Upon restarting, the vehicle drove normal.it is a safety hazard. This is definitely a safety issue and it should be taken care of by chevrolet. This should be forced to be repaired. This is a safety hazard for the public, the operator, and anyone riding in the vehicle.i will be bringing it to a deal in freehold, nj.1 affected product

Vehicle will not release ignition key when shutting car off.car is in park and ignition will not turn to release key takes many attempts and considerable time before key will release. It has happened multiple times in past 2 years.

Was returning from a 300-mile trip on june 17th when i received a "service 4wd" message on the display console. Called gm dealer service shop and set up appt for june 28th (earliest available date). Three days later, pick-up auto-shifted and locked into 4wd. Next morning, june 21st, drove pick-up to dealer service shop. Technician was able to take pick-up out of 4wd, but said he could not guarantee it wouldn't slip back into 4wd. I continued to receive "service 4wd" messages. On june 27th, while making a left-hand turn across oncoming traffic, pick-up again auto-shifted and locked into 4wd. The wheels locked while in the turn, stalling the vehicle with oncoming traffic barreling down on me. I did not think i would survive. Fortunately, opposing traffic was able to swerve around me, and i was eventually able to limp the pick-up through the left-hand turn and out of direct traffic. Vehicle went into dealer service shop the following morning (june 28th), still locked in 4wd. Service shop had the pick-up for 18 days. Final verdict: pin tension issues and fluctuating voltages in connector, which miss-signaled the vehicle to auto-shift into 4wd. This is the third time i've had issues with the 4wd on this pick-up. The first time i received the "service 4wd" message at 214 miles. Vehicle auto-shifted and got stuck in 4wd. Dealer service shop repaired issue. At 5,096 miles, the pick-up again issued a "service 4wd" message and auto-shifted into 4wd. Was diagnosed as an internal short; and the 4wd selector switch replaced. This third time was determined to be another internal short. I filed a report with gm. They determinedthe pick-up was still safe to drive even though the vehicle had auto-shifted into 4wd on 3 separate occasions and even though the 3rd time almost got me killed.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that a loud abnormal noise was heard when shifting into park or reverse, and the vehicle hesitated before shifting into gear. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle lost power without warning. Also, when the vehicle was engaged in park, the key was unable to be removed from the ignition. The vehicle was taken to bellamy strickland chevrolet buick gmc (145 industrial blvd, mcdonough, ga 30253, 770-954-3000), but the cause of the failures could not be determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

Instrument panel and radio blackout

When turning off motor, key gets stuck in ignition switch at random. Key can still turn motor off and on, but not be removed. Has been occurring for over a year.

2016 colorado service bulliten pi1429 cant remove key from ignition when parking shift lever isnt engaging or fully seating. This is potentially very dangerous if an emergency ever arose or responding to it...if you cant remove the key from the ignition than what is the point of even driving this truck. This needs to be recalled im not giving chevy $800 to fix your own mistake. Paid 30k for a truck that you cant take the key out of.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. While the vehicle was at the dealer, the technician diagnosed that the wiring harness had fractured. As a result, there were various electrical failures, including illumination of the air bag and traction control warning indicators. The technician stated that the wiring harness needed to be shrink wrapped. The vehicle was repaired. While the vehicle was in park or while driving at various speeds, the vehicle vibrated. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but was unable to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that a technician would be sent out to inspect the vehicle. The failure mileage was 176.

During any type of moisture ie (fog, rain) vehicle goes into reduced engine power mode codes from the ecm p2122 and p2138 both relating to app. First time it happened was in rain storm in motion, app pedal was replaced with new oem part but the problem persists. I suspect water intrusion from wiper cowling affecting electric harness. This problem does not exist during dry season. After many hours of online research i have found that this is a widespread problem in chevrolet vehicles.

The driver instrument and radio displays go black for some minutes (2 to 20) minutes and then return to function.during the black out i can not check speed, gas mileage, odometer or any other instrument function.i have visited champion chevrolet in johnson city, tn and wilson county motors in lebanon, tn to have the problem resolved.neither could resolve the issue.this is a serious safety concern to me. Car was in motion on a highwsy

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Additionally, when the vehicle was placed in park, the ignition key failed to cycle to the off position. The vehicle was taken to rydell chevrolet (located at 1309, 18600 devonshire st, northridge, ca 91324, (866) 802-5628) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The failures were intermittent. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 44,000. The vin was not available.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stopped, the contact was unable to remove the key from the ignition. The contact stated that after shifting into park and waiting for approximately 30 minutes she could remove the key from the ignition. She also stated on several occasions after driving forward and then backing up several times the key could be removed. Additionally, the gear shifter indicator light failed to show the gear that the vehicle was in. The vehicle has not been diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.

I started my colorado to head home, the weather was clear and cool.the "driver information center" in the instrument cluster flashed that the airbag, anti-theft system, and the traction control system (tcs)/stabilitrak were inoperable.the airbag, tcs, and one other lights were illuminated.i turned the vehicle off.waited a few seconds and turned it back on.the same thing happened again.i cleared the warning messages and started to drive to take it in and get it looked at by a certified chevrolet mechanic.i left the parking lot and after entering the nearby street i noticed that the driver information center was not displaying any vehicle information (showing zeros or blanks for all diagnostic information including mileage, fuel, oil pressure, speed etc).also, the needles for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and engine coolant temperature gauge were lifeless and reading zeros.only the odometer and "infotainment" system were working correctly.i estimated my speed to be above 30 mph at this point.i immediately pulled off the road, put the vehicle in park and turned it off.i waited a few minutes and scanned the wiring under the hood and steering wheel but could not identify any issues.when i started the vehicle again, all the issues were gone as if nothing happened.seemed kinda like restarting a computer to clear software issues.not sure what could've caused it.my vehicle is a 2016 chevrolet colorado z71 with 27,000 miles on it.it was purchased october 2015.[xxx]parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

This is the second occurrence of the problem i am going to describe. What occurred today was a loss of power steering while taking a right turn off of a side street onto a cross street into traffic. It was extremely difficult to complete the turn, and caused a dangerous situation where i almost crossed the lane into oncoming traffic. Upon straightening the vehicle out i noticeda electronic stability control warning message, then as i continued to drive to look for a safe place to stop, a no power steering message came on stating to drive safely or something to that effect. After i found a location to park, i repeatedly turned the car off and on in hopes of re-setting the systems. This did not have any affect on the faults and the messages remained. I also noticed when i reversed the vehicle , the back up screen gave me a message that there are no projection lines. I slowly drove the vehicle home the rest of the way while "muscling" it around turns. Approximately thirty minutes after i had arrived home, i restarted my vehicle and all systems worked correctly with no warning messages displayed. I had mentioned this was the second time this has occurred, the first time was about three months prior to this incident. I thought that i had accidentally turned the electronic stability control off or something. This instance the vehicle reset after i turned it off and restarted it.to note is this vehicle is extremely well maintained and in very good condition.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving, the traction control warning light illuminated. Additionally, power steering disabled and drive carefully messages were displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was pulled over and restarted and operated as intended. The contact stated that the failure recurred while driving 70 mph. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The following day the vehicle was taken to paradise chevrolet located at 6350 leland st, ventura, ca 93003, where it was diagnosed that the negative cable from the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the negative cable needed to be repaired, however, that the cable had nothing to do with the power steering power failure. The technician also diagnosed that the power steering gear needed to be replaced due to sensor failure, and that the computer system needed to be reprogrammed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

There is an electrical issue that causes the truck to completely shut down and lose all power sometimes while driving with do warning. When this happens, power steering and power brakes are lost. This happened to me while turning into a gas station and i nearly wrecked into another vehicle as i couldn't stop or turn.

When turning off the truck, a lot of times my key wont switch all the way off and wont release.the engine turns off and turns back on fine but wont release the key.it seams to do it almost every time i go to turn off the truck and in order to get my key out i have to turn the truck back on and put it im drive then back to park multiple times.i have seen multiple forums that people have this same problem.our local chevrolet dealer wont cover this fix since my truck is now out of the 3 year warranty.

The ignition will not turn completely off which means the key will not come out. I may have to restart the engine, put it in gear and move a few feet, five times to get the key out. The engine itself shuts off, but everything else stays on. This happens frequently. Chevrolet has issued a bulletin saying a dirty key will cause this.how many times in your lifetime have you had to clean a key? this happens after i have stopped and tried to turn the truck off.

Tl-contact owns a 2016 chevy colorado... Contact stated that hood came open while driving going 5mph pulling out of parking lot.. Vehicle shut off five times on five different days. Vehicle shuts off going from a complete stop after pressing on gas pedal . Vehicle shut off turning onto main highway and would not start back up. Hood latch does not stay shut. Vehicle was towed to dealership and hood latch was fixed. Vehicle was at dealership again a few days ago and dealership stated no recalls on vehicle. Dealership also stated vehicle was never in shop for shut off reason. Contact advised to contact chevy at 800-222-1020

When it first happened, i cranked my vehicle and seconds later, a chime and two messages went across my dash saying "stabilitrack disabled." "power steering disabled." and both were inoperable. I restarted the truck, and it ran fine. Happened again two weeks later. Then two weeks after that, it happened suddenly while driving down the road. Again, it worked properly after restarting, but it's started to be a constant. Now it immediately shows "stabilitrack disabled" after starting and the power steering goes after about 10-15 minutes of driving, like clockwork. There were no lights on or any other warning indicators prior to this happening. It was a sudden issue with an otherwise unproblematic vehicle. I see there was a recall for a bad wiring harness connection that caused exactly this for the 2015 year model. Mine is a 2016 and no recall exists. I've seen a few other forum posts stating their 2016 has done this as well. I have not yet taken it to a mechanic/dealer, but that is my next action. It is available for inspection. Needless to say, this is extremely unsafe for both myself and other drivers on the road. Losing the ability to (positively) turn at an inopportune time could be catastrophic.

While driving power steering becomes disabled. This has happened multiple times beginning on 7/3/2020 at 11:03 am and has continued until present day.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. While driving at an unknown speed, the instrument panel gauges flickered and the stability trac indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to advantage chevrolet of bolingbrook (630-243-4460, located at 115 s west frontage rd, bolingbrook, il 60440) where it was diagnosed that a wire was exposed and frayed. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The failure recurred approximately four months later. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000. The vin was not provided.

Constant code p1427 shows vacume leak, can't be found 2) the dash go completely dark on and off, both the odometer side and the digital panel for radio etc

My windows do now go up all the way when i hold the door button up. They go up partially and then back down. I have to make multiple attempts to roll them up. I took it to the dealership and was told nothing was wrong. John jones gm in corydon indiana dismissed this issue. This has happened while driving and when parked.

Electric power steering quits with no warning and lose traction control and power steering. Dashboard lights come on to say power steering failure use caution. Problem is persistent multiple times a week with no warning. The only way to resolve issue is to stop for five minutes and restart engine. This temporarily fixes the issue but the problem will reoccur at unsuspecting moments. It has happened at varying speeds from 25 mph to highway speeds of 75. Causes the steering to become heavy and unmanageable requiring a speed reduction and stoppage to reset engine.made appointment with dealer and was told the truck is out of warranty and that it would be an out of pocket expense.

Driving my 2016 chevy colorado lt 4x4 down the highway and also on 2 lane roads in great weather conditions the service power steering and stabiltrak lights came on. Electric steering was disabled and i had extreme difficulty with turning left or right. This is the same recall as gm 15595. Turning the vehicle off and on resolves the issue temporarily. Now it is happening more and more and i do not feel safe with my family in the vehicle.

I keep getting info messages while driving to service stabilalink and power steering and drive with car and i lose all power steering.it happens multiple times a day and dealer says they can't get it to do it when they drive it. At highway speeds it goes out and i have almost crashed several times due to not being able to control my steering. It happens often and 8 times today.

Power steering would fail while driving causing steering to be extremely difficult, and potentially extremely dangerous situation. Stabiltrac message would be displayed on the message center. It would reset upon turning off the the vehicle.

Stabilitrak unavailable light comes on and power steering stops working.this happens randomly and makes the vehicle dangerous to drive.this can happen at slow or high speeds

Vehicle has 40k miles.began displaying stabilitrak probkem at 30k miles along with warning that steering assist is diminished.this seems to be the same problem with their 2015 models.

Stabilitrak and power steering error indicator on start up. Restarted truck and fixed the issue until driving city streets for a couple of miles and the stabilitrak and power steering suddenly turned off while driving with the same indicators on my dash. Rest of truck seems to be working fine. No check engine light. Just service stabilitrak and loss of power steering indicator on dash board

While driving power steering becomes disabled. This has happened multiple times beginning on 7/3/2020 at 11:03 am and has continued until present day.

I was turning through a busy intersection and as i completed my turn and came to a stopthe engine shut down.prior to making the turn the engine felt like it was going to stall out and quit running.i have experienced the sluggish idle before but it never shut down like it did today.a google search revealed that chevrolet has a technical sb, 16-na-284 that says a reprogram of the computer is required to correct the problem.in my opinion this is a safety issue.i was fortunate to have completed my turn before it quit running but someone else maynot even be aware of the situation putting themselves at risk if it would happen to quit during the turn with oncoming traffic.

Service stablelink comes on and within seconds the power steering turns off. I have to pull over turn off the truck for 15 seconds to reset the computer and most of the time it stops. However there have been times when it does not reset and i have to drive without power steering. This happens randomly. I can be stoped on the highway or around town.

Five months ago my key began to be stuck in my ignition.had to continually restart my truck to get my key out.same time i started to have intermittent lose of power steering.only way to rectify that again is to turn my car off and restart.just drove 13 miles with my daughter and it happened 5 times.

I own this car less the one year this happened 3 times already in less the 10k i take the car to dealer never find anything no solve problems they want me to pay to change the all power steering system one time i was with my kids driving in the highway i don't know how we don't end in accident or worst all time car has been driving i have to come to stop in the middle off the road no solution give by chevy.

Without warning the service power steering message appears and immediately there is a loss of steering.it is extremely difficult to turn.when stopped and the ignition is turned off the system sometimes resets back to normal.also without warning the message service stabiltrak comes on.in this mode the truck pulls extremely to the hard to the left.this happened 4 times within an hour at all various speeds on open country roads. I've read gm has recalled 2015 colorado's for same problem (gm15595).why haven't they included 2016?i've read the repair costs about $1700.00.this is an extremely dangerous problem and needs to be addressed.

On the freeway , a 'power steering 'signal turned on . Suddenly steering wheel became locked . Tires pushed car to the left . Brakes , gas , entire truck stalled.vert dangerous and came with no warning.

When driving at speed of traffic, power steering goes away making it difficult to maneuver truck.warning code comes on service stabilitrak.by pulling over and turning off then restarting truck.code clears and power steering is active again.2015 model of same truck had a recall that gm is apparently not addressing on the 2016 models.problem has happened while sitting at a light, and while driving on city streets and highways.problem is completely random.dealer cleared program errors but couldn't find anything else wrong.wife drove on freeway and power steering failed again almost causing an accident while turning southbound from an east bound freeway connector.

While driving to work on 7/23/20 at 45mh i lost power steering and stability control, warning light came on and (lost of power steering and stability malfunction) came on the dash. Had to pull to the side of the road and turned the truck off, waited 10min then triad to start it and it reset itself. Then on 7/25/20 it happened again only this time i was on the freeway doing 65mh with my wife and almost caused an accident going around an overpass. Because it's the only vehicle i have to go to work i decided to take it7/28/20 and on the way home it did it again only this time it caused the wheels to skip, scared the sh%t out of me. I read there was a recall so i called the dealer but they say my truck dose not fall under the recall. This is a huge safety concern and after doing some research on the internet i'm not alone. This needs to be fixed and i shouldn't have to pay for this.

At 65 mph on i75 stability and power steering assist both suddenly stopped working.pulled into the first rest area (approx. 3 miles),shut down the truck and restarted in about 10 minutes.system returned to normal.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, a loud popping noise came from the engine area before the speed suddenly decreased to 40 mph. During the failure, the steering assist, stabilitrak, four wheel drive and trailer braking system warning lights illuminated. The failure had occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 5,700.updated 02/03/17*lj

Power steering abruptly went out while going around a curve becoming difgicult if not almost imposdible to turn without herculean strength.had i been on an off ramp most certainly would have gone off the side

As i was driving my vehicle home from work, my vehicle lost acceleration and the stabiltrax warning came on. I had to pull off of the highway as fast as i could due to the fact that the speed was 75 and my vehicle was decelerating very quickly. I turned my car off momentarily and it magically became normal other then the check engine light staying on. I only have 41000 miles on my truck, so there is no reason why it should be messing up already! from the looks of the research i have done, this is a common occurrence on this yea,r make, and model of this truck. It runs great some days and causes me to have to pull over multiple times other days. Very frustrating!

Twice the power steering has been lost while traveling at under 25 mph on city streets.the stabilitrak and power steering lights were illuminated.pulled over, turned the vehicle off and restarted, restoring the power steering.

Stabilitytrack light came on & lost power steering while the vehicle was in motion on the highway. Immediately, turned on the hazard lights and attempted to steer the vehicle to the shoulder. Steering a vehicle at a highway speed without power steering was a very difficult task. Restarted the vehicle a couple of times, then it was back to normal. The dealership found error codes u0415 and u0420 among other errors in the history of the vehicle. The dealership only re-charged the battery and reset the computer (i believe). However, the exact same issue occurred again on 10/18/2020 in the exact same scenario. Except, when the vehicle was brought back to the same dealership. The dealership was unable to detect any error message in the vehicle history, which is quite frightening. Expecting to bring this vehicle to a different dealership for a second opinion.

On november 24th 2017, while stopping to make a right turn, my 2016 extended cab, chevrolet colorado 4wd turneditself off.with the brakes not working and into the intersection of a 4 way stop, i put the gear in park to stop the vehicle.i restarted and everything was normal.no accidentand no injuries.on november 28, 2017, on my way home from work, while driving straight in traffic on us /route 40 in maryland, my colorado turned itself off, brakes didn't work, resulting in rear ending the vehicle stopped in front of me.the brakes did not work, the air bags did not work (did not deploy).there was significant damage to my colorado, and i have chest bone (sternum) injuries.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormally loud sound like and explosion coming from under the hood of the vehicle. The contact coasted to the side of the roadway and had the vehicle towed to tom gill chevrolet (7830 commerce dr, florence, ky 41042) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the high-pressure fuel pump bolts became detached. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v358000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,665.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving at highway speeds, after switching from the automatic drive mode to manual drive mode, the driver was able to manually switch to 1st gear which caused the speed to abruptly decrease. The contact indicated that the ownerā€™s manual stated that the vehicle would not allow itself to shift into a lower gear at an unsafe speed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and the mechanic duplicated the failure, but no service was performed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 36,000.

I have a 2016 chevy colorado 4 cylinder truck at the dealer again. Had it in about 8-10 months ago on the engine reviving real high when coming to a stop. They said it was probably the hill assist system and nothing they could do. Now it's chronic. It can rev to 2200 rpms as i come to a stop. I have to kick it in neutral to keep from hitting a kid in a crosswalk or the car in front of the. Both feet on the brakes. And, when i put it in neutral, it can rev up to 4000 rpm's. It's back at the dealer now and they don't have any service bulletins on it. I test drove a v-6 300 hp model while there and it did the same thing 2 times and the salesman didn't notice, but it never got over 1800 rpms. So,they haven't fixed it. But they're sincerely tried but i think it's the system not the dealer. The hill assist system doesn't pick up on if you're level or going down a hill anymore. Just revs up, and it's in 1st gear when coming to a stop.the torque is tremendous on the brakes. It's an accident waiting to happen. I don't think the dealer is negligent in anyway, i think it's the computer design on that hill assist has gone haywire on us.

The vehicle was on a street stopped at a stoplight with the left turn signal on and in drive. The vehicle radio and electrical system powered off and reset without known cause and the vehicleengine and electrical system shut down. The vehicle was restarted by placing the vehicle in park and using the key to start normally.

Coming off steep hill and transmission downshifted to low gear, the engine revved up and would not shift out.tried giving and letting off gas, finally put it in neutral to let rpm's go down and put back in drive and it finally shifted on out.took to dealership where i purchased and they test drove it and said the hill descent function was not working properly but there were no recalls or software update issue at this time that was covered under warranty.issued complaint to chevrolet and they said there were not enough complaints to address this issue at this time.very frustrated.

When merging onto i-70 freeway from on-ramp, i applied throttle to move into the traffic flow. Engine "stumbled" as if in a dead spot. Truck did not accelerate and appeared to be lugging badly.transmission was in too high a gear and seemed to be searching for correct gear. During this time oncoming traffic was forced to brake and there was a near miss of having a rear-end collision.all i could do was watch in the rear view mirror as traffic converged on me. This "dead throttle / wrong gear" issue has happened repeatedly on surface streets but luckily on surface streets i was not in such a critical situation.this is a problem that has been reported repeatedly and at many places on the internet.when will nhtsa force gm to address this issue?hopefully you will act before this results in serious injury or fatalities (if it already has not).please act!

I took my colorado in to dealership due to engine stalling, this is a very dangerous safety issue, i lose steering and braking ability when the engine stalls. The dealership said they are aware of the problem but they do not have an answer on how to fix this issue. The dealership informed me they have 4 other colorado's doing the exact same thing. Also there are thousands of complaints on the internetof this exact same defect. I ask chevrolet to buy back my colorado due to it is not safe to drive.

2016 chevy colorado with less then 10,000 miles.at low rpms on any inclinetruck will buck, sputter, and hesitate rather than automatically shift into lower gear.in city traffic, after slowing to make a turnthen accelerating, truck will buck and sputter and drive train will make a hammer sound after engaging .i took it to dealer who said he could not duplicate problem, although this is a known problem.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled without warning. The vehicle was pulled over, restarted, and operated as intended. The contact reached out to jk chevrolet (1451 highway 69 n, nederland, tx 77627, (409) 527-4142) and was informed that the vehicle was not under recall and that there would a fee to have the vehicle diagnosed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000.

The check engine light came on it popped up engine power reduced wouldn't go over 35 miles and hr on the interstate is not a good thing. I pulled over turned car off. Turned key back on started it was fine. A couple weeks later pulling out in traffic check engine.light.comes on and loses power again almost get hit. Go to parts.store to plug machine for diagnosis. First it said unknown. So we do it again pa201 00 code. Computer said co2 sensor. I was told a tsb bulletin came in for this software update but nobody wants to talk about it they just want to fix it then charge.u for it.but.i think it should be covered software issues shouldn't be absorbed at customers exspense. My truck is a turbo diesel its hard to find parts for it at part store and diagnostic machine just getting in oil filters. Anyway in response of software it should be covered by someone else besides me. Before it loses power and vet's me killed or i. A wreck need issue resolved

--- "the transmission does not downshift from a high gear (5 or 6) to a lower gear when slowing down from 45 mph to 20 mph (or lower). When the accelerator is depressed to accelerate the engine bucks, vibrates, and does not accelerate. The engine rpm drops to 1,000 rpm or lower. If the accelerator is quickly floored the transmission downshifts several gears lower and jerks forward. This condition happens primarily on secondary roads while driving along the road and when pulling from one road into traffic on another road. The situation when pulling into traffic is dangerous because the truck does not accelerate as it should. This truck was purchased new and has 1,500 miles on it. This condition has been present since the truck was new and the severity varies with truck speed and road inclination. The situation has been reported to the dealer and to chevrolet customer service. No corrective actions have yet to be made."

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. While driving various speeds, the vehicle suddenly hesitated when attempting to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (ferman chevrolet of tarbon springs) on several occasions, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 100. Updated 08/03/07*lj

Constant code p1427 shows vacume leak, can't be found 2) the dash go completely dark on and off, both the odometer side and the digital panel for radio etc

When pulling into traffic circle from low speed, no throttle response. Engine died or had no input to propel vehicle. Change of gear selector had no affect. Not until pushed to side of road, completely shut off and remove key did engine restart or have any response to throttle input.

2,400 miles and this vehicle has been back to the dealer four times for "chugging and shuttering" in heavy traffic.driving though an intersection with heavy traffic it will not keep up with traffic but tends to bog down almost getting rear ended from behind.if you try to smoothly accelerate it will rapidly downshift and jump forward almost rear ending any vehicle in front.very unsafe to drive.trying to drive with the flow of traffic at 35-40 mph the truck shutters as if the spark plugs are worn out.also trying to accelerate into on coming traffic it will sometimes chug to where you wonder if it's going make make the merge.very frustrating to drive for a brand new truck, the dealer replaced the torque converter at 500 miles, then has preformed service bulletin #pip5342b three times with absolutely no improvement. Gm states in the bulletin "note: preforming this calibration update may not totally address the shudder or chugging concerns"how can new vehicles continue to be sold with this known problem?not only is it frustrating trying to drive smoothly, but it is also a safety concern.due to the poor performance the mileage is about 13 mpg in city traffic, not even close to the mileage rating of 17 mpg.

Vehicle stalls. When navigating a corner transmission looses its gear and acts like it doesn't know what to do and bangs and stalls. Also trans acts confused stop and go situations(city) and bangs when it remembers. Also does this when coasting on highway and accelerating again. It may jump down several gears and take off.vehicle also has stalled several times at red lights and has a rough idle most of the time like it wants to stall. Been in shop numerous times for same thing and advised chevy but they cant figure it out and it is still doing it. Also looked online for possible answers and there are a lot of these same problems reported with no answers.

Since purchase of vehicle, it had a bucking at speed of 25-40 mph, this was very noticeable in city driving, this issue was couple with uncontrolled surges in the engine. The vehicle was purchase oct 28 or 30, 2016. I turned in the vehicle for service on dec 19, 2016, dealer service rep confirm there was an issue and keep the truck for repairs. Vehicle was in the service department for over 40 consecutive days to fix issue, dealership techs, as well as gm field reps have looked at the vehicle and have tried to fix it to no avail. On feb 8, the gm rep said there is nothing wrong with the vehicle and the issue was a software problem with this specific type vehicle and that the software this vehicle has is a new software. When i asked if this issue is being worked by the software engineers for solution the rep said he has no idea and that i should take the vehicle back. This issue is a safety problem especially when suddenly surges without control, particularly while driving in a city centera driver can cause an accident or potentiallyhit a person while loosing control. Gm costumer assistant was contacted, but there was not help and gm refuses to let me know when the fixes for this issue will be out. Therefore i have refuse to take possession of vehicle until if fixed correctly!!this issue will affect all 2016 and upcolorado with duramax engine and new software version installed on them.

While driving the 2016 colorado, the transmission/engine seems to have trouble shifting and accelerating and the shift patterns are erratic it seems, maybe its the fuel efficient crap that shuts down cylinders, maybe its the trans? .experienced it on highways and lower speeds, stop and go traffic, truck's transmission clunks, shifts hard at random and stutters allot . It'saggrivating. When trying to pass, seems to be zero acceleration felt when flooring it then suddenly kicks in (roughly)..like oh hey-i need to go.. I could get in a wreck-ended because of this and i better not try to pass anyone.. I feel my safety could be at risk with as much hesitation then suddenly lurches as it has. I see quite a few complaints already concerning this and/or describing just about the same ordeal. Daily - but random - city and highway, turning, straight etc. Basically any situation but idle.

Engine seems to lag under quick acceleration. Problem occurs most often when accelerating from a turn or when changing lanes under acceleration. Speeds of occurrence mostly approximately 20-25 mph. Requested checks and service at a dealership only to be given a service bulletin from gm stating this was a normal part of the traction management system. My previous vehicle (2014 silverado) was also listed on the bulletin, but the problem was never noticed on this vehicle. I see this issue as an increased risk of a collision with the highest risk being a rear end collision. This needs to be addressed and fixed.

At approx. 3500 miles started experiencing shifting issues. When slowing down transmission wanted to stay in 5th or 6th gear. Attempts to accelerate caused the truck to bog down until it shifted to a lower gear to accelerate again. When in cruise control problem was really bad. Would loose as much as 5-8 mph before a lower gear was found to maintain speed in hilly conditions.i took vehicle in for its first service at approx. 6000 miles and had dealer check transmission. They remapped shift points to spec software. This was a temporary fix. Issue is slowly returning. I have watched on control panel at transmission oil temp ( truck has trailer towing package etc. This is a cluster feature available.) seems to shift properly until oil reaches 100 degrees plusthen issue arrives. Dealer relayed there had only been a tech service bulletin has been to reset map/shift points. Recentlypulled my boat with this truck and transmission shifted fine. Really would like this issue fixedbecause other then this problem really like the truck.

Driving at about 60 miles a hour and lost all power engine was running but going no were all light were lite on dash like you turn key on before startingthank god no one was coming the other way or the car behind me would have hit me.he was a good driver. Shut it off and restarted it then it would run with all light on dash even brake light and anti skid light and it said on infro. Running at reduced speed. Drove to my home a slow speed it let me.shut it down let it sit a few min. Restarted it still the same.shut it down for about ten mim. Restarted it. Seem to run ok but check engine light is till on now i afraid the will just reset it and say it is ok. And next time i won't be so lucky. It has 5500 miles on it.i did see my life before my eyes hopping it dose not happen to others. Taking dealer tomorrow it happen at about 5pm 3/24/2016

2016-2020 chevy colorado and gmc canyon diesel models have faulty dpf and def systems that fail within <20-60k miles. They do not warranty it as powertrain, and it is a common problem.safety issue: while out of state, the vehicle regenerating exhaust cleaning cycle can not properly clean the system. It then goes into limp mode. 2 dealers have tried to fix it, with no avail. Limp mode limits speed from 65mph with no power on hills, to 55, then 4mph.see this thread for how many people are experiencing problems: https://www.coloradodiesel.org/threads/dpf-regeneration.1137/page-2thank you, andrew r

The truck will randomly shut off while driving, sitting still, and then start back up with no problem.the truck isn't reporting any codes but the engine has randomly cut off during operation on several occasions.i have read many forums of others having this issue.this has happened to me while pulling out into traffic on a city street and almost causing a major accident.it occurred at several traffic lights and also merging onto a highway exit. This is a major problem with serious risks involved!

There is an electrical issue that causes the truck to completely shut down and lose all power sometimes while driving with do warning. When this happens, power steering and power brakes are lost. This happened to me while turning into a gas station and i nearly wrecked into another vehicle as i couldn't stop or turn.

During ownership of my 2016 chevrolet colorado v6 gasoline engine vehicle it has had numerous sputtering situations when accelerating.there is no rhyme or reason as to why the truck sputters to almost stalling.dealership claims that the fuel injectors are probably dirty / fouled.had injector maintenance performed and truck has no better engine performance and sputtering continues.this is dangerous on highway when accelerating in traffic.this has been occurring since original purchase date in october 2015.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact called behalf of the driver. While driving various speeds, the temperature gauge increased to 210. The vehicle was taken to rydell chevrolet (186000 devonshire st, northridge, ca 91324, (866) 802-5628) where diagnostic testing was completed, but no failure code was found. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 35,000.

The low beam headlamps are totally inadequate.what follows is the contents from two emails sent to the dealership service manager.i also have night time video that illustrates the problem which also shows the location of the vehicle by gps on google maps.comments in the email refer to both stationary and moving vehicle observations.i would like to find out if this another stupid government mandate that puts people at risk.

The auto sensor for the head lights/dash lights doesn't seem sensitive enough as on cloudy days it stays in night time mode and i cant see my dash.

Instrument panel and radio blackout

Vehicle stalled due to braking during stopping has brake assist service light on still does the same thing other vehicles have recalls

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, the vehicle decelerated independently with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, regeneration in progress message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact drove 20 mph to his destination. The vehicle was taken to ron westphal chevrolet (1425 ogden ave, aurora, il 60503; (630) 598-1029), where it was diagnosed with needing the diesel plug filter to be cleaned. The vehicle had been repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where the diesel plug filter was cleaned for a second time and restarted the software of the general computer system. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 13,565.

This vehicle's erratic downshifting and upshifting of the automatic transmission causes abrupt changes in acceleration and deceleration that sets up sequences that force the driver to continually press down on, or let up, on the break and or accelerator to attempt to blend in with stop-and-go traffic. In very heavy traffic, present when entering or leaving large cities, the onset and continuance of this vehicle's performance worsens resulting in driver fatigue and extreme stress, brought on by the ever present necessity to be extra watchful and to maneuver to avoid hitting the vehicle in front, or being rear-ended. When driving through mountainous terrain at today's interstate speeds, there is recurring "bumping" that sets up when ascending long grades. It creates the feeling that either the transmission is attempting to downshift but then changes its mind, or the engine's rpm are about to increase but don't. This adds to fear of imminent failure and being left stranded. This behavior was present from the very first time the vehicle was driven. It's getting worse.this driver believes the unsafe operating performance of this vehicle as described above, is exacerbated by the combination of the small, 4 cylinder engine coupled to the 6 speed transmission, that requires the engine to rapidly downshift or upshift to provide the needed performance required in today's driving environments. Further, it is evident the software controlling the transmission's operating behavior was neither fully developed nor tested throughout its anticipated full operating range and as such creates a vehicle that is dangerous to operate on public roadsattempts to have these issues addressed with the dealer resulted in being told..." nothing can be done...the problems you are encountering are being are being experienced by many customers. Chevrolet is not providing any solutions".

After filling gas tank it doesn't start immediately.also when turning off vehicle the key does not go to off where it can be pulled out. Takes many tries and steering wheel appears tight to wiggle to release key. Doesn't happen all the time but enough times to be concerning

I smell gas intermittently. Very strong while driving on highway and city streets.

Vehicle has erratic downshifting and upshifting of the automatic transmission causes abrupt changes in acceleration and deceleration that sets up sequences that force the driver to continually press down on, or let up, on the break and or accelerator to attempt to blend in with stop-and-go traffic. Only getting 15-16.5 mpg city driving.

The vehicle was on a street stopped at a stoplight with the left turn signal on and in drive. The vehicle radio and electrical system powered off and reset without known cause and the vehicleengine and electrical system shut down. The vehicle was restarted by placing the vehicle in park and using the key to start normally.

After fueling, the vehicle cranks but does not start.after sitting for approximately 10 minutes, the engine will start but idles roughly for a few more minutes.also after long highway drives, the engine will run roughly and occasionally stall when the vehicle is stopped.vehicle was brought to dealer who diagnosed as a faulty purge solenoid.this is a known problem in 2015 models as detailed in gm special coverage adjustment letter #18029.this 2016 model year is not included.

The def module kit was replaced on octubre 7 and the engine light is on again the codes are p203c, p204c and p205c. These codes are related with the def fluid and my truck had the low def message on twice in the last two weeks even though the truck still has def (fluid) in the tank.

The (emissions)evap valve issue seen in 2017-2020 models that have an active recall put, is happening with my current model (2016), yet no recall has been sent forward for 2016s.

Ongoing problem with diesel fuel leak which began in october 2017. Will be returning to the dealer on 27 march 2018 for cause search of the problem and repair.dealer confirmed one of the diesel fuel leaks during november 2017 was a leak at the fuel pump and a loose fuel line. Problem has returned after 3900 miles of use. Diesel fumes permeate the cabin and diesel fuel covers the driver's side of the truck from the front wheel well along the body to the rear left bumper. Have contacted chevrolet corporate during november 2017 to make them aware of the problem and create a formal case report. Have started another case report with chevrolet as of friday (23 march 2018) to seek a permanent and durable resolution to this problem.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that after the vehicle was driven and parked momentarily, the contact became aware of a fuel leak underneath the vehicle. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 mph, the contact became aware of fuel vapors from the side view mirror of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to mc kenny chevrolet gmc cadillac located at 831 s main st, lowell, nc 28098phone number 704-313-0074, to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the fuel line became disconnected from the fuel pump. The contact was also informed that the fuel lines and fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 18v358000 (fuel system, gasoline). The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that a representative would provide a callback which was still pending. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

On numerous occasions while entering/exiting vehicle my knee lightly brushes the 4 wheel drive engage switch located on the dashboard. This activates the 4 wheel drive on the vehicle. This is happening without my knowledge. Since there is no obvious indicator on the dash the the vehicle is in 4 wheel drive, if i do not notice the brief "engaging 4 wheel drive message" there is no way of knowing that it is in 4 wheel drive until the vehicle starts "hopping" on dry pavement while turning. Should this happen at highway speed on a curve there is the strong risk on a rollover. I have found myself having to regularly check the knob in order to determine if the 4 wheel drive is inadvertently engaged by this light brushing of the knob.

2016chevyz714wdkey gets stuck in the ignition! over and over! iā€™ve been to dealer/ no help there! what a nightmare! canā€™t remove ignition key in parking lot to go to work! recall and get a fix! this is a daily problem! In 4 wheel drive turning left or right vehicle slides.skids, bounces and tires chirp from traction loss giving the sensation the drive train is falling out. Gm refuses to contact me. This occurs on city streets, highways while in motion. Not on a specific date but constantly. Rain or shine.

Poor shifting, engine bogging down going up hills, shudder. I have had vehicle in to at least 3 different chevy dealerships complaining of shudder, slipping and they claim they can't reproduce. It's getting much worse now. Started around 60k miles

The transmission is extremely slow to downshift.as you continue to push the gas pedal, it will finally downshift, sometimes two gears, and suddenly accelerate. When on cruise control, you loose about four mph before it finally downshifts, again sometimes downshifting two gears. In traffic, the car behind you doesn't anticipate the loss of speed and then you suddenly accelerate. It happens at all speeds, but is particularly unsafe at low speeds with the sudden acceleration. This is probably a software problem as the transmission shifts much more normally if you put it in 'tow/haul' mode. The dealer says this is 'normal' and gm calls it ' torque management '.it is especially unsafe in slick conditions or rainy roads. Btw, i have a 2017 impala with the same six speed and v-6, and it does not exhibit this reluctance to downshift. Thank you.

Transmission fails to downshift properly and shutters when coming back under acceleration after slowing (to yield for example) and sometimes shutters when coming to a stop. If i tap the accelerator to force it to downshift, it violently shifts to a too-low gear and the engine revs too high.

Chevy said there are no fixes for the following complaints. Transmission is acceptable and smooth shifting under light loads. Under a need for downshifting for acceleration the down shifting is delayed or hesitates momentarily and then the truck jerks forward to a excessively lower gear & the upshifts to the gear it should have in the first place.the delay or lag in downshifting creates a very dangerous condition when needing instant power. There is much difficulty when merging into traffic when power is needed.. Manipulating the manual shift can cover up this defect on some occasions when if you have time to plan for it. The transmission also shutters at low load many times resulting in no power until you downshift. Then this downshift is delayed and then becomes abrupt again. The shutter feels like the truck is going over small bumps in the road. The transmission shifting is certainly not correct and certainly results in unsafe situations. I should have test driven the truck under more conditions than i did and probably would not have purchased it. I hear that this problem can be fixed with an aftermarket computer update. Chevy probably dose not want to admit that in order to have the gas mileage ratings the transmission must bet this way. Also note that the 2017 colorado will have an 8 speed transmission.

Noticed immediately after purchase with 18 miles. Noticed at slower speeds under 45 mph the truck would up-shift to a higher gear when letting off the accelerator. Upon depressing the accelerator again the truck would hesitate, jerk, ping, or just plain not accelerate until excessive pressure was placed on the accelerator. At this point it would down-shift hard a couple of gears and cause unsafe acceleration in high traffic scenarios.

While driving the colorado, the transmission gets so confused on what gear to be in and the shift patterns are the craziest i have ever experienced. From 40-20mph, stop and go traffic, this truck's transmission clunks, shifts hard, stutters and cannot figure out which gear to be in. It's very frustrating. Not to mention, when trying to pass, there is zero acceleration felt when flooring the peddle. I am so frustrated with this transmission and many days during the to and from work commute, i feel as if i am going to get rear-ended because of this transmission. It's annoying when driving but stressful as well, because i feel as if my safety is in jeopardy due to this "learning" transmission. It's so disappointing.

This condition has been present since the truck was purchased and the severity varies with truck speed and road inclination. I reported the situation to the dealer and they attempted a fix (had the truck for three days) that supposedly involved a "new download" from chevrolet, but it didn't change a thing. Dealer knows it didn't fix anything and says chevrolet may have a "recall update", but reading all the other similar complaints, i'm suspicious. In the 1 month i have had the truck, i have almost been hit twice by approaching traffic because of hesitant acceleration. This is a dangerous problem and chevrolet need to fix it immediately. I

Rear differential making loud poping noices when engaged. Sounds like metallic metal to metal catching and grinding.specially when switching from backing up to driving forwards again.is could result in the differential locking up.

Transmission does not downshift properly under any type of acceleration (slow or sudden) especially between 20 mph and 40 mph in normal street traffic and on the highway. It also hunt for gears especially between gears 4 through 6.it hesitates for approximately 2 to 3 seconds, finds a gear, hesitates again, and then drops to an even lower gear and over accelerates.what i have observed is that the vehicle is too eager to upshift and sometimes goes into 5th or 6th gear and drops the engine below 1000 rpm.it stays in that gear when slowing down and when accelerated it stays in the high gear on bogs down and on two occasions stalled.this is dangerous especially in highway traffic and is especially dangerous when accelerating to pass or accelerating on an highway onramp to merge with traffic.i have take the truck to dealer at around 2000 miles. Was told that they couldn't find any problems and they "reset" the transmission.it ran fine for one day and began the problems again.i have operated the truck now to 6000 miles to see if the transmission can "learn" its way out of this and it has not.i am going to dealer again and if they tell me again that there is no problem, i am going to force the service manager to drive with me for a day to experience the problem.

Numerous times while driving, and going downhill the truck shifts to a much lower gear causing the rpm's to go up to 5500 and does not shift out. Twice i had the cruise control on and was on the highway (speed of 75) going down a hill and it shifted to a much lower gear. It has done this on other roads going down hill as well.in addition, numerous times when merging with traffic on a highway, i will try to tap the accelerator to safely merge with traffic and the truck has gotten "stuck" in a lower gear and would not shift out and i thought i was going to rear end a car so i had to ride my break to make sure it would not continue to accelerate into the back of a car. In addition to that, often when trying to accelerate out of a corner or after an off ramp, the truck will not accelerate at the same rate as the other vehicles around me. It will slowly accelerate as the vehicles around me pull away.in addition to that, when i am on the highway and i need to accelerate quickly to safely pass traffic, i have to push the pedal to the floor to ensure that the truck will actually accelerate.the dealer just tells me that the software is up to date and they could find no record of similar issues.

While driving on a hilly highway at 55 mph, the truck suddenly lurched into an extreme downshift as i was going downhill. I had not been making any significant braking or acceleration motions--just driving normally with the flow of traffic and i had nothing in tow. The truck decelerated quickly and the rpms climbed significantly. This occurred twice: once around 2,800 miles and a second time at 3,400 miles, under the same conditions - dry roads, daytime, going downhill on a highway. There were not any warnings, and none of the service lights came on. It would not shift out of this gear. Each time, i had to avoid being hit from behind, and pulled over to the side of the road to stop completely. Then i was able to proceed with normal functioning of the transmission. The cause is unknown.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in park, the steering wheel seized while the service power steering assist warning light illuminated intermittently. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and shut-off while in park. The contact waited for approximately two minutes for the vehicle to resume normal operation. Jon hall chevrolet (551 n nova rd, daytona beach, fl 32114, (866) 783-3101) was contacted and the contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 39,980.

There is a loud roaring noise when driving on highway and city streets. It's louder at higher speeds.

The transmission hesitates while trying to find the correct gear..i spoke to a maintenance rep at the dealership where i bought my truck and he said that the engineers made the truck that way for fuel efficiency. He also told me to just floor the accelerator to get power when i need it. It still hesitates even when i floor it and how does that help fuel efficiency?he said if a technical service bulletin comes out on this issue that i can bring in my truck and they will fix the issue. I am scared to pass a vehicle unless absolutely nothing is coming for fear of the time it takes for the truck to find the correct gear. It also kind of jerks when it does find the right gear.this has been going on since i purchased it in january of 2016.

When merging onto i-70 freeway from on-ramp, i applied throttle to move into the traffic flow. Engine "stumbled" as if in a dead spot. Truck did not accelerate and appeared to be lugging badly.transmission was in too high a gear and seemed to be searching for correct gear. Vehicle hesitates and stumbles on acceleration during motion when acceleration is resumed while moving. It seems that the transmission is not shifting down. You have to get into the acceleration, which is a safety condition in traffic. At times it stumbles bad enough to slow speed dramatically, which is also a safety condition on interstate. Took the vehicle to dealership and they are dedicated to saying that there is no codes up and i am nearly at the point to seek help from lawyer on the situation.

When driving in stop and go traffic, and through city and residential areas, the transmission seems to struggle finding the correct gear. The transmission hesitates and does not shift as smoothly as it should, and sometimes shifts hard upon reacceleration, or sudden braking. The transmission also struggles to find the correct gear while highway driving (70-75 mph) with constant grade changes, and hills. (interstate 5 from los angeles to bakersfield ca. )when starting the vehicle and placing it in reverse to back up, the transmission shutters slightly before engaging properly. This usually happens on a slight grade, as my street and driveway moderately sloped. I took the truck at the dealer for and unrelated issue, and ask them to check it. They said it was "normal". I have read about similar complaints on several forums, and its seems to be a very common complaint. This transmission seems to be junk! the time frame for this complaint is from 2/1/2019 (22,000 miles) to present. Others have complained with as little as 4,000 miles.

Transmission has a "stutter" to it. Upshifts have a 'stutter" or lag to them at low rpm. Very dangerous driving around town when you have stop and go traffic. Downshifts automatically going down a steep grade ,the downshift is so bad it wants to throw you through the windshield.have had truck to dealership at least 3 x. Truck is dangerous to drive in traffic as this transmission is not working properly. Have contacted gm in dec. Of 2017 but got no reply (imagine that). Truck has about 18,500 miles on itbought in dec. Of 2016. Highway driving is fine, driving around town is terrible as i said transmission "bucks" or "stutters". For the time being truck will sit and will not be driven except to the dealer.

The transmission (6spd automatic w/v6 engine) of this vehicle is known to have issues that will surprise you if you aren't already aware of them. The issue affecting safety the most, is the occasional engine acceleration while applying the brakes as the transmission downshifts to a lower gear. It causes the car to actually accelerate momentarily as you apply the brake even harder to arrest the increased speed.i was driving up a slight incline at about 35-40 mph when all of a sudden the car in front of me came to a complete stop because the car in front of her had stopped completely. I had driven this road for more than 30 years and had never seen anyone come to a complete stop as the first car did in this area. Five(5) of us were all surprised. I was the third car. As i firmly applied my brakes, the car initially slowed down but then it felt as if it was trying to accelerate and unfortunately i was unable to stop in time, although ionly lightly tapped the car in front of me, followed by 3 more cars in back of me. At first i was surprised that i wasn't able to stop in time and then it occurred to me that the strange feeling i felt as the vehicle slowed was as if the engine had accelerated as it downshifted causing the braking action to not be as good as it should have been. Since i knew the car occasionally did this i thought i should report this as possibly contributing to my problem and put it on record in case you had other reports like this.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. While backing out of a parking lot and attempting to make a left turn, the vehicle "jumped and made an unusual noise". There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact drove to his residence and parked the vehicle. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 33,026. The vin was not provided.

Low to moderate speed gear shift hesitation, transmission not smoothly shifting,. Feels like a bad miss. Electronics and transmission/engine not in synch or synching. Hesitation, lack of responsiveness can be sever at times. Reboot of ecm helped, but issue has returned worse than ever. This has been a problem since day one of ownership. Hill decent control activates at al speeds including high end hiway speeds.40, 50, 60, 70+ mph engagement - tap the brake and it actives. Engine rpm's go through the roof. Disabling the control wit the button does not deactivate. Dealership has not and does not offer any solution. Sever loss of control of vehicle could occur in inclement weather or other conditions. Also, fast slow down with no warning to other drivers in the vicinity. Engine rpm's as high as 5k in my truck in mountainous pennsylvania december 2016.

Recurring problem. Intermittent problem. Engine hesitates between 1000 and 2500 rpm. Causes unexpectedly poor acceleration from a stop. Causes unresponsive throttle. Causes transmission overshifts (shifting 2-3 gears lower). Causes unsafe driving conditions when acceleration is less than anticipated.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.updated 06/23/17*lj*as

When pulling into traffic circle from low speed, no throttle response. Engine died or had no input to propel vehicle. Change of gear selector had no affect. Not until pushed to side of road, completely shut off and remove key did engine restart or have any response to throttle input.

When the vehicle is placed in park and ignition is turned off, the ignition key cannot be removed one out of eight or ten tries.it is available for inspection.my wife was running an errand after dark.she was unable to remove the key, but did not want to leave the vehicle to be possibly stolen.this was a serious danger to her and it has also happened to me.dealers confirm that this is a common problem, but only replace parts at my expense due to being out of warranty.the parts work for several months, then the problem reoccurs.the vehicle has been inspected by a dealer.no warnings prior to failure.problem began at 41,000 miles.

Transmission does not downshift properly from upper gears (5,6) to lower range when decelerating from 40 + mph to under 20 mph. Vehicle will exhibit loss of power from being in too high of a gear range, causing "chugging", and then a sudden burst of power as you try to accelerate. Dealer reset ecm for transmission; problem persists. Typically occurs on residential or non-freeway streets, but has happened entering a freeway entrance ramp.

Transmission down shift slow to respond. Feels like it is out of gear, or like a engine hesitation, steeping down on accelerator hard makes it shift but the shift is hard. Concerned about this happening on ice causing a possible spin out.

While driving the vehicle over 40+ mph and then reducing speed due to traffic to 20 mph, and then accelerating the engine again between 21-28 mph it seems to bog down the engine almost as if the transmission shifts into to low or high of a gear and makes the vehicle feel like it's bucking/jerking when trying to accelerate between 21-28 mph and then a burst of speed. Vehicle does it all the time between these speeds. Vehicle was bought brand new had it custom ordered and only had 9 miles on it so i know it's not a issue from someone else driving it vehicle currently has 1,200 miles is a v-6 crew cab

Transmission hesitation: vehicle doesn't accelerate when its supposed to. When going from a normal rate of speed to slowing down to make a turn, doesn't downshift properly, therefore when you make the turn and accelerate again it hesitates (nearly stalling) jerks and skips. Have had many close calls because of this. Nearly being rear ended on several of those occasions. Have tried contacting gm about the problem and got nowhere. Have been put on a waiting list at the dealership with no indication of when this will be fixed. It has even got to the point where my fuel economy has seriously diminished.

On 6/6/16 i started having the trouble.after backing up and putting the truck in gear, the truck would surge forward without touching the gas pedal.this also occurred on 6/11/16, 6/17/16 and 6/23/16. On 6/23/16 i was at surdykes port 20 marina at the lake of the ozarks.after backing out of the parking space i put it in gear. This time it was much more than a surge. It literally shot forward and even the brakes didn't help because within 3-4 seconds my truck and i were in the lake. Finally got the window to break so i could escape. Just before i went in the lake the truck struck an old golf cart and jet ski trailer that were parked there and took them into the lake also.

Transmission shifting hard and slipping in gear 1 and 2 also down shifts hard 2 and 3 gear.

When trying to accelerate from a low speed, maybe 20 mph or less, the transmission often does not deliver any power to the drive wheels (the motor revs up but the vehicle does not accelerate).also, when climbing a hill at normal road speeds the transmission often does not down shift, to the point where the motor almost stalls, and the few times that it does down shift there is an explosive increase in engine rpms resulting in an almost uncontrollable burst of vehicle speed. Chevrolet says this is the way it's designed to work. If it is, it's the first vehicle i've seen, or even heard about, that does these dangerous things.

The transmission does not downshift from a high gear (5 or 6) to a lower gear when slowing down from 45 mph to 20 mph (or lower).when the accelerator is depressed to accelerate the engine bucks, vibrates, and does not accelerate.the engine rpm drops to 1,000 rpm or lower.if the accelerator is quickly floored the transmission downshifts several gears lower and jerks forward.this condition happens primarily on secondary roads while driving along the road and when pulling from one road into traffic on another road.the situation when pulling into traffic is dangerous because the truck does not accelerate as it should.this truck was purchased new and has 6,500 miles on it.this condition has been present since the truck was new and the severity varies with truck speed and road inclination.the situation has been reported to the dealer and to chevrolet customer service.no corrective actions have yet to be made.

Key could not be fully shut off, removed.dealer determines a solonoid on shift assembly failed.solonoid could not be purchased so a new shift assembly was ordered.i was barely outside my warranty.chev refused to cover.this is a hazard because without shutting off, locking column and trans it become a fire risk, theft risk in that key cant be removed.04

Vehicle stalls sometimes when i stop. Se light is now on. Service brake assist comes on now. Truck surges and shutters and is annoyingly hunting for gears and can't find them. Sluggish throttle like i'm trying to pull a bull dozer out of the mud. This mostly happens between 15 and 40 mph back roads and highway stop-n-go. Not settling for the "oh that's normal" bsht. Should have bought a ford f150. Time for a trade in. 10k miles and i am completely disgusted with chevy now. All i can say is good luck if you have a 2016 colorado.

While stationary i tried to switch from 4wd auto, to 2wd. The light flashed and failed to change, then a service 4wd system popped up. The vehicle is stuck in 4wd auto and now loses all power while trying to turn.

In motion, when driving speed limit and then you let off accelerator to slow down and then you press gas again it hesitates and does not want to accelerate. I took to dealership and they said they fixed by programming something in computer and it ran fine for 3 days and started doing same thing again. And also, when you accelerate and it will not respond you give it a lot of gas and it makes rpms go to like 5000, but the rpm do not match the speed, its very strange. I see other complaints about the same thing on forums.

Chevy 2016 colorado z71 v6 with a 6 speed automatic: the transmission does not shift under light acceleration or when under load going up a hill.the truck hesitates seems to miss and doesn't know what to do to get it so accelerate! it also has this issue when lifting my foot on the gas when rolling through a corner and then hitting the accelerator.then i have to push the accelerator hard to make the transmission up shift 2 gears to make the truck accelerate! this is frustrating and dangerous as it could cause being hit from behind when the truck does not accelerate as it should.i took my truck back to the dealership three times and they said 'there are no codes, there seems to be nothing wrong the computer doesn't know whether to stay in that gear or up shift 1 gear or 2.all you have to do is to push down harder on the accelerator and learn to drive with a smart transmission.' my reply was 'i am not part of the vehicle sensor system and i should not have to learn how to drive to a poor shifting situation especially when i am paying this much for a new vehicle.' gm should be forced to fix this very common problem before something serious happens as a result of this!

I live in a rural area with moderate hills and many winding roads and tree obscured corners.while driving at a moderate speed (30-40 mph), i experience problems with the vehicle's ability to downshift from overdrive to address the increasing incline. The vehicle will, despite normal increase in fuel pedal pressure, lose rpm's from approximately 2,000 to 1,000.as it approaches 1,000 rpm, the vehicle begins to "stutter" and "lurch" as the engine tries to cope with the higher gear. There are two "fixes" for this; pushing the gas pedal down firmly, which causes the vehicle to radically down shift and "leap" forward, or to drop the transmission lever to "manual" and manually change gears (without the "leap" seen in the first method). The end result of the non-manual approach is to cause the vehicle to accelerateradically in an environment of obscured corners and uphill driving. I believe this is a dangerous safety problem as the area is swarming with deer, bicyclists, pedestrians, etc. I have also had "stuttering" incidents when accelerating from low speed, to enter traffic, interstate, etc., although these have been intermittent in nature. I have noticed that the vehicle will also radically downshift going downhill without warning and seems to take a long time to up shift once it is on level ground - again an intermittent action. Fortunately no one has been "tailgating" me when this occurs (a common failing of drivers in this area). I have had the vehicle to the dealer twice for the failure to downshift for a hill and they tell me chevrolet does not recognize a problem with the transmission, shifting, etc. A side note: this problem does not exist in cruise control, but use of cruise control on these back roads would not be advisable.

When traveling forward,or turning, at highway speeds between 20 mph and 40 mph, this vehicle shudders ( 6 speed transmission)and acceleration pauses until a lot of extra effort is placed on the gas pedal.the transmission then downshifts with a sudden lurch. This leads to a safety hazard when instant acceleration is needed.this happens everyday at any time of the day and whether hot or cold.

The truck when slowing down to around 20mph and accelerating seems to lag or for lack of a better description seems to be "unable" to find the correct gear.sometimes it acts as if the engine has a "miss".i took it to the dealer and was told this is "normal operation".when you google this complaint there is page after page of owners having the same problems with 2015 and 2016.it seems to me this is a programming issue with the transmission.it seems to have trouble finding the correct gear and will sometimes jerk or downshift too low. It happens at any time the vehicle slows down to around 20 and accelerates. It also happens at times when at a full stop and taking off in a normal manner.

Delayed or no downshift. Traveling about 2 mph and turning either right or left and applying throttle the truck does not respond until the throttle is increased steeply . The transmission does then shift to a much lower gear and acceleration is dramatic.

Transmission erratic shifting at low speeds . Transmission acts like it is lost and does not know what gear to go too . Hundreds of internet complaints with no fix .

When i put the vehicle in park quite often when i turn the keys to the off position the keys don't go all the way off until i shift into gear a few times and back into park.i took in to the dealer and they said they cycled it many times and it was fine i brought it home and guess what the same thing. It is still happening

Vehicle shudders does not downshift smoothly jerks when backing up at times, vehicle jumps when trying to shift to a lower gear. Brought to dealership, couldn't get the problem to occur, so nothing they can do and don't care to, vehicle has 36,000 miles

Paint is bubbled on hood, transmission does not shift properly, frount shocks blown out at 36000 miles, seat belts dont function properly, engine idles rough, radio does not work.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while, reversing the brake pedal locked and suddenly released and crashed into an unoccupied2014 chevrolet colorado. Additionally, while driving the brake pedal was depressed and locked up, spontaneously accelerated and left skid marks without warning. There were no reported injuries. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to silverthorne chevrolet inc.111 n franklin st, robinson, il 62454(618) 544-9506where it was diagnosed the rear brake caliper failed to release. The vehicle was repaired.

Service stabilitrak. Abs nonfunctional or traction control. Dealer claims power steering assist gear to be cause of issue. Sounds like 2015 colorado recall issue

Needed to replace brake booster vacuum pump at 50,000 miles.cost me $468.18

In september 2020 the brakes failed suddenly.the brake booster was was replaced. Approximately 6 months later they failed again in heavy traffic with no warning. The brake booster was replaced by a different shop, failed and then replaced again at the same visit.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while backing out of a parking space at a very slow speed, the braking system suddenly malfunctioned and erroneously released causing the vehicle to surge backward and crash into a second parked vehicle. During the incident, no injuries were reported and a police report was taken at the scene.the vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the rear driver side brake caliper and brake hose were faulty and needed to be replaced. The caliper and hose were replaced and the failure was remedied. The manufacturer was also contacted regarding the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000.

Approaching an intersection and observed a yellow light. I was traveling 35mph as posted and applied the brakes only to have the pedal go all the way down to the fire wall. The truck had no braking power and only slowed to about 15mpg after applying for roughly 40-50 yards. I ended up running into the intersection collided with another vehicle that proceeded on green.

After driving 10 miles, i parked my vehicle in my apartment parking lot. Approximately 15 minutes later, i got back in my vehicle to leave. Upon turning on my vehicle, i felt my brakes hard when i put my vehicle in reverse. The vehicle started rolling back with my foot still on the brake and i had to press on the brakes extremely hard to stop the vehicle from moving. The vehicle struggled to stop, skid and then stopped. I put the vehicle in drive and it did the same thing. I live across the street from pep boys so i cautiously drove it to pep boys and they found the brake booster vacuum hose was unplugged. They reconnected it, but now i'm scared for my safety from the possibility of the hose disconnecting while driving and causing an accident. They mentioned the brake booster has to be replaced, but they are confused as to why it's happening because my vehicle is fairly new.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving 30 to 45 mph, the brake pedal was firm. The contact made a turn and the vehicle came to a complete stop independently. The check engine warning light illuminated with code p0017 (camshaft position). The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed that pieces of metal detached from the vacuum pump into the engine, which damaged the driver side camshaft, the vacuum pump, camshaft position sensor and the driver side camshaft needed to be replaced. The contact also mentioned that the camshaft solenoid due to metal on the screen and metal was also in the oil needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the independent mechanic and was not repaired. The contact called martin chevrolet (23505 hawthorne blvd, torrance, ca 90505), and informed the dealer of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

My power steering on my 2016 chevrolet colorado went out on a 30mph turn and nearly lost control of my truck.as i was driving, i slowed to make a stop on a city street when there was a sudden loss of power steering. It was very difficult to steer and turn but i made it to the side of the road. The vehicle did not lose power or shut off. The message said there was a loss in power steering and to seek service. The traction control and stability track warning lights turned on.i turned off the vehicle. Upon restarting, the vehicle drove normal. I drove back home feeling unsafe. It is a safety hazard. This is definitely a safety issue and it should be taken care of by chevrolet. This should be forced to be repaired. This is a safety hazard for the public, the operator, and anyone riding in the vehicle.

Vehicle stalled due to braking during stopping has brake assist service light on still does the same thing other vehicles have recalls

There is an electrical issue that causes the truck to completely shut down and lose all power sometimes while driving with do warning. When this happens, power steering and power brakes are lost. This happened to me while turning into a gas station and i nearly wrecked into another vehicle as i couldn't stop or turn.

Intermittent loss of power steering while driving. Hard to turn vehicle, especially at lower speeds.

Service stabilitrak. Abs nonfunctional or traction control. Dealer claims power steering assist gear to be cause of issue. Sounds like 2015 colorado recall issue

On two separate occasions within a wk less than 100 miles the power steering has went out while driving. I get two dash warnings one saying service power steering the other saying service stabilitrac.i done some research and found out that gm recalled over 60000 vehicles with this exact issue for 2015 models however mine is a 2016. Iā€™ve also seen online numerous 2016 owners other than myself having the same problem i am. I feel that this recall should extend 2016 models. My truck was purchased nov of 2015 and currently has less than 63k miles.

After filling gas tank it doesn't start immediately.also when turning off vehicle the key does not go to off where it can be pulled out. Takes many tries and steering wheel appears tight to wiggle to release key. Doesn't happen all the time but enough times to be concerning

Outside temperature where the truck was parked was -1 degree f. Power steering warning came on after starting the vehicle and i had no power steering while driving 17 highway miles to work. I have owned the truck for 1 day and it has 5300 miles on it. 2 hours after i got to work i started it and the power steering worked fine. Outside temperature was +2 degrees f. I immediately took it back to the dealer. Dealer said they have had over 100 calls about this same issue on equinox and colorado over the last week and there is nothing they can do. They also said the steering modules freeze up when it gets really cold and windy and that is causing the problem. This is a severe safety issue as the vehicle is extremely difficult to steer without the assist. A fix needs to be found and a recall issued. Searching the internet i have found many instances of the same issue on the chevy colorado and gmc canyon.

The power steering warning advisor will come on the dash while driving a highway several times, approximately ever 2-3 minutes, also while stationary after start up and in gear pressing the gas pedal, the steering become hard and incontrollable, nearly hitting a car parked in front of it.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 43,000.

Power steering abruptly went out while going around a curve becoming difgicult if not almost imposdible to turn without herculean strength.had i been on an off ramp most certainly would have gone off the side

Truck was stationary.pulled off road to make a phone call. The power steering light came on on the dash,i tried to turn my steering wheel and nothing.i finally killed the motor and ehen i cranked it back up the light was off and steering had returned.if i had been driving, it would have been horrible, since i am a women and steering would have been impossible.

Power steering message comes on...service power steering..the power steering stops working at any given time.it happened several times when i was driving and 2 times when i started the 2016 z71 colorado.had it diagnosed at apple chevrolet in york,pa.it was confirmed by the dealership as an internal issue with torque sensor and they also replaced a gear.an alignment was also done.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while driving 10 mph, the steering wheel locked making the vehicle unable to be driven. The contact stated that the power steering warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to woody folsom automotive (1749 golden isles pkwy, baxley, ga 31513) where it was diagnosed with the power steering unit needing to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 115,000.

Just reported yesterday, it did it again today.yes, it's very cold in our winter, but this should not affect the steering like this.once again, after parking the truck, after driving to work, i shut it off until about 11 am.turned it on for lunch, steering was non operational.turned truck on and off many times with no change.still non operational.parking in my garage seems to help or something, i don't know.if this goes out on our icy roads at highway speed, someone will get seriously injured or dead.if chevy is waiting for that, they better get a big check ready.so tired of this phantom problem disappearing if you can get it to a dealership to get fixed.

After being parked for a few hours in -10 degree weather or colder i lose power steering. When i start the vehicle and attempt to back out of the driveway i am unable to turn the wheel without an incredible amount of effort. A service message appears stating "power steering assist. Drive with care." this has occurred every time i have left the vehicle in cold weather for longer than an hour or so. Each time this has happened i have been fortunate to be able to get the vehicle into a heated garage right away and after a few hours when i start the vehicle the power steering failure has resolved and the steering wheel turns with ease again.this sounds very similar to recall number 16v054000 (15595) on 2/1/16 for the 2015 chevrolet colorado which required the steering gear torque sensor cover assembly be replaced due to a loss or reduction in power steering assist. This is a huge safety concern. I looked up the issue on the internet and there are several complaints with 2016 chevrolet colorado and gmc canyons and many people have had it occur while driving on freeways at high speeds and around icy corners. Apparently, it can occur in any weather not just cold weather though my issue has only occurred since the weather dropped below zero.

Skid marks icon came on and a warning about the power steering to be cautious and a highlighted word dismiss. Then the power steering is gone and i stopped at the red light turn it off and turned it back on it fixed it.i was on the freeway 17 north bound just in time for me to exit and that's when i did the turn off action.

While driving the power steering stops working locking up steering wheel, very dangerous. While parked power steering doesn't work, unable to turn wheel or steer.power steering stops working while stationary and in motion.

Service stablelink comes on and within seconds the power steering turns off. I have to pull over turn off the truck for 15 seconds to reset the computer and most of the time it stops. However there have been times when it does not reset and i have to drive without power steering. This happens randomly. I can be stoped on the highway or around town.

Once again, it's a cold morning and like all my other reports, eps will not work.after parking at -25 and starting at lunch, eps is inoperative.dealer says it cannot be duplicated, so it can't be fixed.someone is going to get hurt!this needs to be addressed to chevy!

On the freeway , a 'power steering 'signal turned on . Suddenly steering wheel became locked . Tires pushed car to the left . Brakes , gas , entire truck stalled.vert dangerous and came with no warning.

Starting around 9 months ago, i have had several incidents of the power steering stop working. Some of these have occurred while driving at highway speeds. The problem randomly appears and is extremely unsafe. The issue has gradually starting happening more often. Sometimes, the issue will clear after turning the vehicle off and back on. Other times, it will clear after driving for a while. The symptoms are exactly the same as those mentioned in the recall for the 2015 colorado under recall #15595.

Rural 3 lane road. Came to a stop light. While stopped and idling, warning indicator came on 'power steering traction control' warning light came on. While accelerating from the stop light, i realized i had no power steering assist. After arriving at destination, vehicle sat for 5 hours. Upon restarting the colorado, no warning lights were present and steering was functioning again properly.

Drives just fine, after parking, electronic power steering becomes inoperative, warning message of "power steering, drive with care" appears, steering becomes extremely difficult.no injuries caused by this...yet.i have taken it to dealer for fix, but they couldn't duplicate the problem, so i drive it again until it happens.i hope they're not waiting for an injury or a death before they fix this problem.

While driving 2016 colorado lt a ding ding occurs seconds before the steering wheel locks i am then unable to steer the truck. I have to put the truck in neutral, shut it off then back on while coasting to resolve the issue. This happens often and always while the vehicle is in motion. City. Hiway. Turning. Driving straight. All occur.

Ignition key cannot be removed and does not rotate to the "off" position when parking the vehicle. You have to move the vehicle and the steering wheel multiple times to get the key to release. Multiple gm cars have experienced this problem. Gm document pit5233f calls this a normal characteristic on 11 models for multiple years. My vehicle has 32000 miles on it and the dealership replaced the shifter assembly. I contacted the dealer and gm customer service about this common problem that seems to need a recall.

Five months ago my key began to be stuck in my ignition.had to continually restart my truck to get my key out.same time i started to have intermittent lose of power steering.only way to rectify that again is to turn my car off and restart.just drove 13 miles with my daughter and it happened 5 times.

While driving at any rate of speed, in any condition, my power steering will suddenly disable, the gas/acceleration stops working and the stabilitrak light comes on. This has happened while backing out of a parking spot (after sitting all day long at work), it has happened going 35mph on a sunny day and another time going 45mph in the rain (happened last week). Fortunately i have always been on a straight street when it has happened. It is very difficult to steer if not impossible. If this happens while i'm on a curve it could result in a very bad accident. My wife says she will no longer drive it. The dealership told me they cant get it to duplicate while driving so they cannot help me. I only have 36,098 miles. I took it to the chevy dealership at only 28 miles passed my warranty coverage. Gm needs to recall this immediately. I've been loyal to chevy. They should be loyal in return and fix this issue.

Power steering will quit working while driving, first time i was driving on interstate. I have to turn off ignition and restart, will be ok for a while then go out again. Very dangerous.

While driving from the grocery store to our house, the steering wheel became incredibly stiff and a message appeared on the dashboard warning me to service power steering and drive with care. I was making a right turn out of the parking lot onto the city street and the steering wheel went stiff and the message appeared. I had to move the steering wheel with a lot of force to avoid crossing over the correct lane and go onto head on traffic. Luckily the grocery store isn't far from my house. If my wife or sons had been driving then this could have ended badly. This isn't the first time i've lost power steering. This has happened while on the highway. When on the highway i turned to the off ramp and again the steering wheel went stiff with the power steering loss message. Since then the truck doesn't see much use. Lately, it has been getting so bad that the power steering doesn't even work and starts stiff when first turning on the truck. Sometimes the power steering isn't stiff when first turned on but the loss of power steering message still occurs. The truck just sits unused because it is flat out dangerous to drive. I've checked all of the fuses and they were all fine. I've disconnected the battery for 20 minutes and reconnected it and the steering wheel is still stiff and the same powering steering loss message.

While driving in route to my residence i wad making a left hand turn at about 15 mph. In the process of making the turn the power steering completely failed.this caused me to bump the medium and all of the dadh warning lights came on.this occurred while on a 45 mph roadway turning into a residential neighborhood.this appears to be a power steering sensor or electrical issue.the vehicle had only 13,000 miles on it.dealership was called (bakersfield ca. 10-22-19) and we were told this was not covered under warranty.still not repaired at this time.internet is filled with similar reports.

Electric powering steering failure. Driving down the road a warning comes on that says power steering drive with care as well as stabilitrak is turned off. The vehicle becomes hard to steer and after it cools off the warning goes away. This has happened twice in the past 12 hours to me driving home and to work on a city street.

While driving on the highway at 50-60 m/h the truck will loose the power steering assist and wheel will turn hard and difficult to turn at lower speeds. Problem will appear for a while and return again at anytime.

My 2016 chevy colorado has lost its power steering at over 70 miles per hour (akafreeway speeds) 4 times and the power steeringwarning lights have came on. This results in the truck being very difficult to control at high speed.if the engine is turned off and subsequently restarted, the power steeling assist returns to full functioning. Chevrolet has recall #15595 for this problem on 2015 chevrolet colorado built months before mine but refuses to repair the 2016 model with same problem.this is a true safety issue and chevrolet should stand behind their product.the repair estimate they gave me at the chevrolet dealership was over $2,100.

Driving on city street and power steering went out and dashboard lights lit up-- stating power steering disabled, anti-skid not working, and to drive carefully. The truck was difficult to steer/control and lights remained on until i arrived at work. After work i started truck and everything appeared to be working. Half way home, i had the same thing happen. Very dangerous and hard to steer/control. Truck has never had any steering problems, never been in an accident, has new tires, and is taken care of.

Driving down the road and suddenly the power steering went out.and when it goes out on this vehicle it is extra-ordinarily hard to steer, had i been in a turn i would have lost control of the vehicle.this is the 2nd time this has occurred and both times turning the vehicle off and on again fixes the issue. But this will ultimately result in a crash at some point and should be investigated with urgency.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the power steering assist failed with the stabilitrak warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact was able to restart the vehicle soon after failure and resumed normal driving operation. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer where they diagnosed the vehicle with power steering assist failure. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and the contact was given a case number. The vehicle had yet to be repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

Power steering (ps) stops working either while in motion or stationary. Problem is intermediate & started 11 jly 2019. It doesn't seem to make a difference if in a corner or straight, the ps just quits @ various times.if my wife or daughter are driving when ps stops working, it could lead to an accident because they don't have the upper body strength to steer manually, especially if it happens in a corner. Nhtsa recall bulletin 15595a covers this problem with the 2015 colorado's but not the 2016 colorado's. The recall needs to be expanded.

Motor assisted steering cuts off abruptly.

While driving my 2016 colorado i experienced a loss of power steering. It has happened many times and various situations weather it was at highway speeds or local roads. It has gone out while sitting still. There is no indication when it is going to happen. I attempted to have a dealership look at it while i was experiencing the issue and they refused to do it with out and appointment. How can i make an appointment when it is not a full time issue. It is a very dangerous problem to lose power steering while making a turn on a busy road. I am well aware that there was an issue with the 2015 models and there was a recall and now the 2016 models are experiencing the same issues and gm refuses to fix the issue with out it being an extremely expensive repair.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while driving 30 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated that the traction control and stability track warning lights were illuminated. Matt mazzei chrysler jeep dodge ram (1175 parallel dr, lakeport, ca 95453, (707)413-6418) was contacted and the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

Stabilitrak and power steering warnings lights come on randomly when driving the vehicle resulting in no traction control and loss of power steering which has pulled me out of my lane off the road and into oncoming traffic on multiple occasions.the issue was confirmed by hirlinger chevrolet.there is a recall for this exact issue right now but i am being told that my vehicle wasnt effected by the recall because it was months after the recall date.

After i parked the truck outside in about -15 for about 4 hours, i started the truck and tried to pull out the driveway but experienced a lost of power steering. I could barely turn. Fortunately, my friend let me use their heated garage. I let it sat for about 15 minutes, started it, and still no power steering and the "service power steering" message was shown. Let it sat for another 15 minutes, initially no power steering and same dic message, then all of a sudden it started working. Drove 20 minutes home without further problems. But that made me worry that if it happens at speed, the outcome would be very different!

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. While driving approximately 40 mph, the power steering suddenly failed without warning. The contact attempted to turn into a nearby parking lot with difficulty. The contact then parked and turned off the vehicle. Once the contact restarted the vehicle, the power steering resumed normal operation. The contact called lawrence chevrolet (located at 6445 carlisle pike, mechanicsburg, pa 17050, 717-610-4134) to be diagnosed, but no failure was found. The dealer reset the vehicle's computer system related to the power steering. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 28,356. The vin was unknown.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while his wife was driving 60 mph, the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact stated the "service power steering, drive with care" warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to park on the side of the road and restart the vehicle. The driver was able to drive to her residence. The contact stated he also experienced the failure a couple of weeks later. The contact took the vehicle to a local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired as of yet. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Loss of power steering assist while driving due to poor electrical connection within steering gear assembly.this the same condition related to safety recall on 2015 chevrolet colorado under nhtsa campaign number 21v-213.power steering failed causing extremely dangerous driving condition. Gmc dealer identified problem as poor electrical connection within steering gear assembly. Dealer would not honor recall under campaign 21v-213 because my vehicle is a 2016 chevrolet colorado.gmc dealer replaced the steering gear, including the torque sensor cover assembly - the same repair for the same condition under the recall for 2015 colorado.

This is the 2nd time this has happened.once in 2018 approx feb.the steering lost all electric assist. This always appeared after it was driven and had been parked. It did this about 4 times before the dealer would repair it.at that time everything was covered by warranty.this time, the same problem, loss of all steering assist after driving and it was parked.same issue, this time they tell me the steering gear box needs to be replaced at a cost of over $2000.00.exactly the same issue the 2015 was having.i have read the complaints and i fear this will happen at highway speed.we live in an extreme cold climate at times and both instances my vehicle was parked after driving in -20f weather.

Power steering has gone out 4 times in last 6 months. Abs and traction control lights come on. Truck is impossible to steer. Have to stop, turn vehicle off and restart. Power steering back to normal.the error lights stayed on but after a few miles they went off.there is a recall on 2015 colorado's for this very same problem.guess nhtsa will wait until several people die before you expand the recall to 2016 colorados

Vehicle when is started"service power steering" message is displayed along with the abs light and stabilitrack light. Turning the engine off and on did not fix the issue.vehicle was parked and this was the 1st time this issue was observed out of 2 plus yrs of ownership.trying to steer the vehicle is almost impossible.

1st time it was stationary, 3 days later loss power steering while driving on 11-10 and 11-11-20.

My 2016 colorado is experiencing the exact same issue as the 2015 colorado covered by gm recall 15595.often when driving the vehicle power steering assistance is lost and the steering reverts to manually steering and is very hard to control the vehicle and get the vehicle to a save place.gm states that my vehicle is not covered by the recall even though many 2016 colorados have the same issue as the 2015.the initial recall apparently did not cover enough vehicles.

At 65 mph on i75 stability and power steering assist both suddenly stopped working.pulled into the first rest area (approx. 3 miles),shut down the truck and restarted in about 10 minutes.system returned to normal.

On multiple occasions the "service power steering" message is displayed along with the abs light and stabilitrack light. On two of these occasions right when i turned on the truck, the power steering actually went out and made the wheel very difficult to turn. Restarting the engine solved the problem, but this would be very dangerous if it were to occur while driving. The lights have come on while driving without the power steering going out, and have turned off on their own after a few minutes.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle loss power steering assist. The contact would turn off and restart the vehicle several times after allowing the vehicle to cool down before the power steering functionality returned. The power steering and emergency warning lights were illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to new smyrna beach chevrolet (2375 fl-44, new smyrna beach, fl 32168, (386)427-1313) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the power steering failed and that the entire system needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not yet been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

The key will not come out the iginiton. It takes several minutes to hours turning it back and forth to get it to finally come out. This is a true issue because it drains the battery overnight when you can not turn the key off.

Was driving and at least 3-4 times now at various speeds(once idle)the 'driver assist' message would pop up on the screen and i would lose all power steering. I have 3 kids and luckily no times they have been in the car when this has happened but i'm worried to continue to drive the car, especially on the highway if it cuts off

Driving on highway heard warning tone and dash display service warning for power steering and stabilitrak.loss of power steeringoccurred at this time.vehicle became difficult to steer.once i was able to safely come to a stop turned off ignition and then started vehicle and power steeing returned to normal. .

Stabilitrak unavailable light comes on and power steering stops working.this happens randomly and makes the vehicle dangerous to drive.this can happen at slow or high speeds

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the steering wheel locked more than twice. The dealer was notified each time, but was unable to provide a solution to prevent the failure. The contact experienced the failure again and was able to receive roadside assistance. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided no solution. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 2,500.

Power steering stop working while driving on city street, service power steering message appeared, very hard to turn is very dangerous to drive. Came back to normal 5 min later.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the traction control warning light illuminated and the message power steering failure was displayed on the instrument panel. The steering wheel became very difficult to turn in either direction. After turning off the vehicle and restarting the vehicle, the failure self corrected and the vehicle operated as designed. The vehicle was taken to chevrolet of canton located at 250 liberty blvd, canton, ga 30114, who diagnosed that the electronic steering motor and torque sensor were defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 84,000.

While driving on the highway vehicle displays a message stating: "power assist failure, drive with care". Immediately after the power steering turns off and the vehicle becomes difficult to steer.

May be the abs/speed sensor wire going to the hub was damaged when the headlamp was damaged because i noticed the speedometer was just going up and down. (haywire)a number of things also could be the reason for this sudden notices appearing in the dic. We finally hit warm weather and its +2 degrees outside, the roads are melting causing all these error codes to appear. (melting ice and snowinterfering with the communication/error system????) my assumption is this because there is a constant leak from the top of the cabin coming from the light/storage area in the middle on warm days. When the weather warms up, the effects of such leaks could cause built-up ice/snow to melt. I'm sure you are aware this type of leaking is due to our extreme climate and weather patterns in nunavut. I'm sure similar patterns exist in southern canada. But its when the weather warmed up and i'm guessing the wet roads caused this issue. My steering is just out.

Power steering assist went out. Had drove in frigid temps from home to work just fine, parked for one hour in parking lot, when i went to leave , had no power steering. Message pop up , "service..power steering assist. " could barely steer-turn truck moving at slow speed. Snow on so had to drive slow. Very dangerous. Went 10 miles to dealership and left it to be checked. Would not be able to control it on my curvy road home.

Power steering failed completely while in motion on the interstate going 65 mph in glenwood springs, co. Was very scary and could have caused a serious accident.chevrolet dealership took 3 weeks to find problem.they are not able to warranty.chevrolet corporate does not care at all, actually almost impossible to get a hold of anyone there.

The steering assist failed and warning messages appeared on the console for both the steering assist and the stabiltract system.i head the truck towed to the new smyrna beach chevrolet dealer to have their 'trained mechanics repair the failure.two days later after having called the service rep and the service manager asking for a return call with the status and getting no such calls i was finally able to elicit the cashiers help in determining the status of my truck. So i paid a $200 diagnostic fee and was told i needed a new battery to fix the steering failure.i bought their $150 battery with the assurances that all is back in working order. I drive the truck about 1/4 mile down the road and the steering assist quit again. Not only is chevrolet allowing this dangerous malfunction to continue but their allowing this scam of $200 diagnostic fee and telling customers they need a new $150 battery which doesn't have anything to do with the steering failure.i'm buying a ford or dodge as soon as i can. No more chevrolet for me.

I own a 2016 chevy colorado. Suddenly power testing was lost during driving. This has happened on 3 separate occasions now. I tow a camper with my children and fear this will result in a crash with injuries. Please look into this as it is the same problem the 2015 models had. Please have gmc issue a recall to fix this safety issue.

I have a 2016 colorado with only 56,000 easy miles.i started my truck in my driveway and started to back up.i noticed the power steering did not work and warning lights appeared on the dash indicating a power steering problem.restarting the truck did not correct or reset the power steering function.i have owned 5 other trucks in my life time and never experienced anything like this.now i have a $1800 bill from the dealership.there are 23 other power steering complaints on 2016 colorados on your website.a low mileage pick-up should never have a this problem.please do something.

This 2016 chevy pick up the right fronttire boke loose of the vehicaland caused the vehicle to wreck into another car. The suspension on the lower attachment point broke away around the lower tyrod attachment point . The upper broke also at the attachment point . These parts are made of cast aluminum and have the lower tyrodwhere it attaches on is a tapered part if it is tightened to much t wil cause the casting to crack.it appears that this part had a crack in the part. I am a 49 year machinist nd see that the part is a pore design and is a low grade of cast aluminum use to attach this critical part of the vehicle. This vehicle was traveling less than15 mph when this occurred.

Power steering fails when driving down the road.almost caused an accident the first time.has now occured 5 times over the last 2 months in all types of weather conditions

Power steering goes out intermittently while driving. Could be dangerous. Completely unpredictable, have to pull over and turn vehicle all the way off then start the vehicle again to clear code. I can barely turn the trucks steering wheel enough to turn in a driveway or other safe place to stop.

Power steering warning keeps coming on while i am driving. Took it in to the dealer and they cannot locate the issue. Truck locked while i was driving it. I had to turn the truck off and back on in order to unlock the wheel. Warning keeps coming on up until now.

Thursday morning i got into my colorado z71 truck which was parked in the driveway.the vehicle started up but the steering was locked up,i.e., very tight. Upon putting the truck into reverse to back out of the driveway i noticed how very stiff and almost impossible to turn the steering wheel.i turned off the engine then sat in the vehicle, still in the driveway, then i tried starting three more times where the engine started up fine but the steering was still extremely stiff.i called for a tow truck to come take my truck to the nearest chevrolet dealer.just before he was to arrive i went to move my truck into the street so it could be loaded on the tow truck'sflatbed.the power steering had returned but i was afraid to try and drive the truck for fear the power steering would quit again. I'm writing this complaint two days later and the nsb chevrolet has yet to put it the shop. The truck is our only vehicle but my wife and i are.both afraid to try and drive it.

Got in my truck and started it. Warning came on to repair power steering. I have driven with manual steering before so i thought i could drive home. Pulled forward and attempted to turn but i could not turn wheels at all. Called wrecker and had it towed. Garage man called to say power steering motor had gone out. Fortunately i was in a parking lot, had i been driving on roadway it could have been bad.

I was driving my chevy colorado in a marine port in high traffic . My truck dinged as two service codes came across my dash . Service - power steering drive with care and service stabiltrak . The most terrifying thing about this happening is the steering wheel pretty much locks and becomes highly highlydifficult to get to a safe place or pull over . I was almost hit going through a intersection . I stop turn the truck off . Turn it back on . Magically the steering works again . I go to drive to my shop to have them have a look . My power steering goes out again ! no recalls present over a 2400 dollar repair . How can this keep happening and chevy wont fix this problem !

Vehicle has 40k miles.began displaying stabilitrak probkem at 30k miles along with warning that steering assist is diminished.this seems to be the same problem with their 2015 models.

Power steering fails to work when temperature drops below 0 degrees. Problem occurred in parking lot after i finished plowing snow. Steering was very stiff required two hands to turn the wheels. Code was in computer, but dealer could not find problem.

Merging onto highway at 65 mph on sunny warm day.steering wheel locked up, power steering warning light came on along with 2 other warning lights.no power steering remainder of drive home / 17 miles of varying speeds and 5 traffic circles.turned truck on in morning and power steering back on.took to dealership - they said no codes in the system saying there was ever a problem, could not replicate, did not mention previous recalls for same issue in earlier model.nothing they could do for me.38,000 miles currently.

Twice the power steering has been lost while traveling at under 25 mph on city streets.the stabilitrak and power steering lights were illuminated.pulled over, turned the vehicle off and restarted, restoring the power steering.

I lost power steering while driving our 2016 chevy colorado down an off ramp from an interstate highway.the steering wheel felt like it locked up.i had to take my eyes off the road to look at the warning messages and then process that it might be loss of power steering. This was an extremely dangerous situation as steering was very difficult and i still needed to get to a safe place to stop.i was able to pull through an intersection and get off the road. I turned off the truck and then restarted and the problem went away.i will take the truck to the dealer for an explanation hopefully.

The doors on the driver and passenger side come to a sharp point on the bottom.the wind case the door to come back on my leg and badly bruising my leg.i contacted gm to pay my doctor bill but have not received a reply.

Paint on leading hood edge bubbling on top of and beneath the hood. Gm certified auto technicians confirmed this is a result of moisture during the painting process and not due to damage inflicted while driving.

This is the second time that i have taken this vehicle to the dealer for the same problem.the first time it was leaking water from left front, left rear, and right front floor mats.this second time it was only leaking water on the left front drivers floor mats.the vehicle had just been driven when i noticed the leak.

At speeds above 60 mph the sheet metal on the hood begins to ripple, flutter, and distort. This problem is well known by chevrolet. The dealer has applied expanding foam inside the hood under warranty, but the metal continues to distort and ripple at highway speed. I am afraid the hood sheet metal will fail and the hood will come off the vehicle while driving. Chevrolet refuses to do anything further about it.

Truck sits uneven from side to side . 1" difference at rear wheel wells when sitting on a level surface with no load in the bed and a 1/2 " difference in the front side to side . The rear overload spring leaf with rubber bumper touches upper adjacent spring leaf with no load in the bed on the driver side . Not sure if this could be a safety concern if there is a load placed in the bed causing issues in how the truck handles or could be causing premature tire wear or other issues with other suspension parts .i have been informed that this is a known issue with other colorado trucks by the dealership i purchased the from . This truck came off of the dealership lot with this problem and gm tech. Assist. Is aware . After almost 3 months nothing has been done .

Paint is bubbled on hood, transmission does not shift properly, frount shocks blown out at 36000 miles, seat belts dont function properly, engine idles rough, radio does not work.

The rear fenders on truck are blistering.there are bumps all along the outside of the rear fender wells.the problem is road debris and small stones getting up inside the inner fender wells and vibrating down pushing dents through to the outside of vechicle. This is going to result in accelorated rust through of the rear fenders as the finish is damaged on both sides of the panels.i have worked with the dealer, who attempted one repair (which failed) but i have been told by them and gm customer service that they will not fix the issue.the truck had 16200 miles on it when this started. I found online that other gm trucks have this issue, chevrolet issued a service bulletin on silverados for the same issue and other people are complaining on the colorado owners sites but gm is refusing to make repairs.this issue is going to cause rust through and jagged bodies on all of these vechicles in very short order in northern areas.

The contact owns a 2016 chevrolet colorado. The contact stated that the vehicle downshifted to 3rd gear while approaching a downhill slope. The contact stated that extra effort was needed to steer the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who changed the oil and informed the contact that the driver's side upper control arm was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to poage chevrolet (851 w pearce blvd, wentzville, mo 63385) where a pending appointment was scheduled. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

Was at shop returning truck to install ordered electrical parts on 3/13/18, when the installer called me over to show me an extremely large gash in tire tread, complete width of middle tread and about 7 inches in length. (have photo)leaving the membrane exposed.i was there on friday 3/9/18with initial repairs & this was not noted! ( tires were balance due to outage of wire for abs) i drove back home 50 miles on friday, did not move the truck all weekend, till my return on tuesday (13th). When discovered .he advised me to get this repaired immediately! i drove cautiously approx. 4 miles to local chevrolet dealership (reliable) it was around 4pm, i explained that i did not have appointment, and needed immediate attention due to damaged tire ready to blow out!i explain this looked like manufacture defect.needless to say none was covered by insurance, i paid out of pocket $274.24.i am so thankful i did not have a blow out driving to albuquerque, nmthis is highway most of the way, with speed limit 70 mph. And most grateful my 3 grandkids were not with me,, as i frequently pick them up from school. This could of definitely been devastating . The service dept. Assumed i ran over something. This is a newer truck i only have 9688 miles on it, and careful to watch what is on the roads. As this was the driver rear tire involved, the front was not affected at all? is this possible it is a manufactured defect ? i have never had this happen to a tire on my vehicles before, as i am 65 yrs old.do i have to wait for this to happen to another tire on this vehicle from this company with possible tragic results. I will do my diligence in inspecting tires before i leave, but this could of happen as i drive traveling once again on highways.

About half dozen times my key would turn off the engine but not the dash (radio, light etc) then would not turn far enough so i could remove the key. After restarting and shifting through the gears a couple of times it would turn off as it should and i could remove the key. This does not happen all the time but is a pain when your not sure if you will get the key out at the store.

Heating system does not work, no defog or de frost available which can result in loss of forward visibility, recall has been issued, vehicle has been in for correction, was stated as corrected, was not, heating system does not work, repurchase of the vehicle has been requested since the heating system does not work, cannot be corrected, is a serious safety issue

Vehicle has built in feature of hill assist that is overriding driver. Decides to stop or speed up on hills at will and lags and won't register what the driver is doing for quite some time. Hills are very dangerous with this vehicle and gm refuses to address the issue and debug the software to fix it. There are hundreds of complaints and still nothing. It's has created an issue to where i couldn't stop on multiple occasions, and luckily i was able to avoid and vehicles and pull off the road after placing the vehicle in neutral. The only way to override the feature is when you are in cruise control. I have had to shut the vehicle off to gets the engine to stop revving forward and have taken it to dealer multiple times. It is not safe for me or anyone near the truck.

I bought this truck on 9/25/15.on 9/30/15 there was heavy down pour, and there was big puddle of water under the drivers floor mats, the passenger floor mats, and behind the drivers mats.also the left vent had a broken piece that was on the floor.

When going down hill the transmission downshifts hard and jerks you forward. You cannot accelerate again until it hits 10mph then it is hard to get the acceleration going again. This could cause an accident if someone is close behind you especially a big truck that cannot stop quickly. When you are accelerating on a hill it does not want to go and you have push the accelerator down the entire way and then jerks forward and takes off. This happens all of the time going downhill and up hills. I have 24,000 miles on my truck now and it has happened since i purchased the truck.

The transmission is shuddering frequently and the shifts are very harsh between first and second and the second down to first. Especially when accelerating and the transmission is upshifting or decelerating and the transmission is downshifting, this conditions had put me at risk in traffic light stops of intersectionsbecause i cantaccelerate fast because it jerks and when i stop quick it jerks,

Takata recall 2016 chevy colorado 4 wheel drive with 3.6eng i have 815 miles on truck and having down shift problems transmisson will not down shift between 45 and 20 mph at timesit doe this when you are pressing lightly on the gas peddle in slow traffic or at times going up small highand this will cause the truck to not go fast enough to get out of the way of other traffic.when you press the gas peddle the truck jerks and shutters i was told by service dept at dealership where i purchased the truck that gm had a service bulletin out about this problem and they would try to fix the problem but the service dept were not sure they could fix it.

Rear differential making loud poping noices when engaged. Sounds like metallic metal to metal catching and grinding.specially when switching from backing up to driving forwards again.is could result in the differential locking up.

The key gets stuck in the ignition after you finish driving and you put the car in park. There is some lever that doesn't release when in park. Many, many others have reported this problem. It is very dangerous as the key cannot be turned to the off position and removed, which ends up draining the car battery and leaving the driver stranded. Some are suggesting to remove the safety lock on the ignition as the only solution to get the key out. This would allow a driver to remove the key while driving, which would probably result in an accident and death.

My 2016 chevy colorado crew cab z71 4x4 vibrates at highway speed. The dealership has replaced one tire, balanced x 3 and rotated and road force tested. The problem persists. I was told by the service manager that because i bought an off road truck with all season tires it will vibrate above 70 mph. I feel it in my seat, it appears to be coming from the rear of the truck. The empty passenger seatvisually vibrates. It started after the first oil change and tire rotation at 6000 miles.

Blend air door where that actuator the next is cracked in busted driver side by gas pedal does not blow hot heat only blows cold. I can smell hot burning smell i am concerned this may cause a fire or a rupture in the coolant system causing me or my family to get hurt

The transmission does not downshift from a high gear (5 or 6) to a lower gear when slowing down from 45 mph to 20 mph (or lower). This truck was purchased new and has 14,500 miles on it. This condition has been present since the truck was new and the severity varies with truck speed and road inclination.

Temperature gauge runs up to 210 degrees when stopped or idle at different times

Five months ago my key began to be stuck in my ignition.had to continually restart my truck to get my key out.same time i started to have intermittent lose of power steering.only way to rectify that again is to turn my car off and restart.just drove 13 miles with my daughter and it happened 5 times.

Key will not turn to off position to allow it to be removed when shifting to park position. Takes several attempts to remove.

Ignition key remains stuck after vehicle is in placed in "park". Key will not release from the ignition, leaving vehicle in "acc" mode. Need to continuously restart and reshift vehicle to eventually release the key.have personally spent upwards of 20 minutes trying to release key. Havetaken to a certified chevy dealer 2 times, with no success. The dealer indicates chevy "is aware of the situation, but has no recall at this time."multiple online posting indicate it is a problem happening to numerous people.

Takata recall. I noticed while driving when sun light is very bright around 3or 4 pm when glare hits the anti- collision sensor when it brakes for you it's happened a few times and i'm not even close to a car it activates on it's own.also when cars are parked and ur turning the sensor also goes off it's own even though i'm not close to another car.

After i put the truck in park, i cannot get the key out of the ignition.this happens quite often and has made me late for important appointments.

The key does not come out of the ignition.you are u able to remove the key.when you take it into the dealership, they tell you it's dirty.this is not the problem, the key does not get dirty after every drive.

Key will not come out of the ignition. Key gets stuck and will not unlock from the ignition. Repeated attempts to restart and reengage the transmission/ put into park and nothing works. This should be recalled immediately.

When driving about 35 mph, and then pressing the gas pedal to accelerate / pass another vehicle, the engine revs up to 4000 ' 5000 rpms, but does not downshift.it then takes a few seconds to go back to 1200-1500 rpm range.it may downshift at that point, and the truck will jerk violently.i took it to the dealer where i bought it new.they said gm is aware of the problem and referred to tsb pip5547.i took it in again in dec. 2019 before the warranty expired.they had the vehicle for 18 days.they agree there is a problem, but gm has no fix for it.this is a repeatable problem, happen consistently in the 30 to 40 mph range.the manual states that when trying to pass at less than 35 mph, press the accelerator halfway down, as i have done.that is when the engine revs up but does not downshift like it normally should.but then the downshift does occur while the rpms are coming back down, and the truck jerks violently.this is dangerous because i am unable to reliably pass another vehicle at this speed.also, the same behavior will occur in the 50 to 60 mph range.this is very dangerous when using an on ramp to get on an expressway.

I put larger tires on my colorado.the local chevrolet dealer says they cannot correct the speedometer reading. I am told i can buy the necessary software from gm, but i can't find it, nor can anyone at the dealership tell me how to obtain it. Until now, it was possible to get the speedometer corrected. So, i don't know how fast i am going.

The transmission does not downshift from a high gear (5 or 6) to a lower gear when slowing down from 45 mph to 20 mph (or lower). This truck was purchased new and has 14,500 miles on it. This condition has been present since the truck was new and the severity varies with truck speed and road inclination.

On the freeway , a 'power steering 'signal turned on . Suddenly steering wheel became locked . Tires pushed car to the left . Brakes , gas , entire truck stalled.vert dangerous and came with no warning.

When driving about 35 mph, and then pressing the gas pedal to accelerate / pass another vehicle, the engine revs up to 4000 ' 5000 rpms, but does not downshift.it then takes a few seconds to go back to 1200-1500 rpm range.it may downshift at that point, and the truck will jerk violently.i took it to the dealer where i bought it new.they said gm is aware of the problem and referred to tsb #pip5547.i took it in again in dec. 2019 before the warranty expired.they had the vehicle for 18 days.they agree there is a problem, but gm has no fix for it.this is a repeatable problem, happen consistently in the 30 to 40 mph range.the manual states that when trying to pass at less than 35 mph, press the accelerator halfway down, as i have done.that is when the engine revs up but does not downshift like it normally should.but then the downshift does occurs while the rpms are coming back down, and the truck jerks violently.this is dangerous becausei am unable to reliably pass another vehicle at this speed.also, the same behavior will occur in the 50 to 60 mph range.this is very dangerous when using an on ramp to get on an expressway.

Defroster system is inadequate to clear windshield and side windows in outside temperatures below 20 deg. F.driving is unsafe because visibility is reduced to a 20 in. Zone forward only.side vision is completely blocked.the chevrolet dealership service department is unable to fix the defroster, and informs me that even brand new chevrolet colorados on the sales lot have the same problem.the problem exists when the truck is stationary and just as badly when it is moving down the highway.

I live in illinois i bought a 2016 chevy colorado. I did not know at the time this truck did notheated mirrors.last year i was driving on the highway in freezing rain i had to pull over to clean the mirrors., i thought all vehicle's came with heated mirrors.all manufacture's should be made to put heated mirrors on all vehicles.for safty!

On wednesday february 24th i was driving home (north on i-75 in michigan) from work, the truck had 2-3 inches of snow on top of the truck and truck cap because it cannot be reached due to the height of the vehicle. Traffic was moving at ~ 10 miles per hour due to road conditions and my wipers were on (medium speed if i recall correctly), traffic stopped suddenly and all of the snow from the top of the truck immediately slid forward and covered the windshield. At this point the wipers were essentially buried/ jammed due to the amount of snow and the windshield was completely covered while i was on the expressway. Had the conditions been slightly better i could have been doing well over 10 miles an hour and the result would have absolutely been a collision which could have involved many vehicles. In the past wipers would always continue to move back and forth in a situation like this until the windshield was eventually cleared, my wipers would not even attempt to move, fortunately due to the low speed i was able to get to the shoulder of the expressway to clear the snow. I am very concerned to drive in bad weather now due to the risk of a collision as well as the potential risk of being on the side of the expressway in bad conditions clearing the windshield. Please investigate as the winshield wiper motor should not be protected at the cost of the vehicle and its occupants!

Defroster does not engage until engine is reved to 1,800 r.p.m.dealer mechanic says it was engineered that way.

The specific problem is visibility out the windshield either because of how the windshield is shaped or because of the position of the west virginia inspection sticker placement in the lower right side of the windshield.my wife is 5'3" and i'm 5'8" tall and the inspection sticker clearly creates a visual safety issue. I contacted wv dmv about his safety issue and they referred me to the wv state police. The state police say the state law requires the inspection sticker be place in the lower left of the windshield. I contacted our state senator and have not heard back. The law should be changed. The way chevrolet design and manufactured the windshield does make where the inspection sticker is place become a safety issue. If any stickers of such size are placed on the lower left side of the windshield, they become an issue. I don't know the best way to resolve this issue; however, willful ignorance or neglect is wrong. Safety must come first. I think the wv state law is obsolete for new vehicles with windshields of this shape. This is clearly a safety issue. If you are unable to help us, please refer us to someone than can.thanks

I was driving in a heavy rain storm, on the highway, and the right windshield wiper just stopped. A few minutes later, the left wiper stopped working. I was able to move to the side of the road, since i couldn't see to drive, and i could hear the motor working, but the wipers were not moving.

Tires making a loud noise since the 20,000 mile mark, vibration as well, currently 28,686 miles, scalloped tires? so loud on hight way can't hear radio, noise is bothersoom, question any recalls

Tire pressure monitor failed in less then 3 years of owning the vehicle. The truck was purchased brand new in 2016 and now i'm being told that i have to pay for the tmps replacement cause i'm past the bumper to bumper warranty. This is clearly a defect in the tpms as the batteries should last at least 10 years. I have a 2008 vehicle that has the original sensors in the tires with no issues. Is there anyone that can get the taken care of as this is a defect and not a normal wear and tear situation.

My service airbag light keeps coming on. Also, i'm going through tires too often as the vehicle won't stay in alignment.
